Could you give me some Nejiten headcanons?

Sure can!

I'm gonna give you three. One specific to Canon!AUs, one to my Wedding!AU and one to the Uni!AU.

Canon!AUs: Neji, ever a traditionalist, introduced Tenten to the head of his clan, his uncle Hiashi, as his girlfriend very shortly after they got together officially. Hiashi vaguely knew who Tenten was, more as his nephew's teammate than anything, but this was a meeting between a possible future clan member.

It went very well. Tenten was respectful and polite as long as Neji was in the room. There was one moment though, when Neji had excused himself or was called away that the façade dropped.

Tenten, in no uncertain terms and never blinking in the stare of one of the most powerful political figures of her village, informed Hiashi Hyuga that if anyone, ever, even himself, used the Caged Bird Seal against Neji, caused him any harm at all, she would kill them.

And anyone who tried to put one on any child Neji had, not even necessarily with her, would die screaming.

Neji was back before Hiashi could reply and Tenten's mask was back up in a heartbeat, like it had never been down.

No one ever used the seal against Neji. Ever.

Wedding!AU: Neji being a federal agent has led to him missing more than a few special occasions. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries and family functions in general.

Tenten has taken all of it in stride. She's an Olympian, she's also missed stuff for training and competitions. But there was one major exception.

The birth of their son Hideki.

Tenten was in labour and being rushed to the hospital by her parents and Neji was in the middle of a late night meeting about a very, very important case.

Tenten demanded Hinata, who was in the car with them as she'd been staying over so Tenten wasn't alone while heavily pregnant, call Neji immediately.

Neji had been trying to be excused since the meeting started and when he noticed his phone blaring in his pocket, he 'accidentally' answered it. He regretted it immediately.

As his wife, in the throes of labour screamed down the phone: 'Neji Hyuga! You get your pale eyes having ass to the fucking hospital or I WILL RIP YOUR DICK OFF WITH MY BARE HANDS!'

Because when he'd answered his phone, he'd also turned on the speakerphone.

Suffice to say, Neji was given permission to go be at the birth of his son. Even heads of federal agency departments understand not to fuck with your wife when she's in labour.

Tenten is not sorry. Tells the story at parties. Especially because the next time she was pregnant, Neji's bosses preemptively told him to take paternity leave the second Tenten entered the last stages of pregnancy.

Uni!AU: Neji asked Tenten out on their first date when they were seventeen. It was so awkward and so stilted and Tenten adored it.

She still teases him to this day, and while he has gotten much smoother and charming with age, Tenten still reminds him she's never forgotten his first time asking her out, by kissing him on the chin.

The exact same way she did when they were seventeen and the normally calm and collected boy's face bloomed dark pink. Still does.

The truth is, the Ueda are just as proud of their clan as any other. Whether or not they are great warriors or their kekkei genkai is considered useful doesn’t really matter. They have a history which they are proud of. Their clan built themselves up from nothing, without having a background full of bloodshed. There was no real warriors pride or anything like that. They were quite content to remain on the sidelines for all eternity (at least most of them). But that didn’t mean they weren’t fiercely proud of the work they did and of their place in society. Sure, most wouldn’t think much about their postal services, but they had their power, even if it was understated and overlooked. 

Because really, what’s more powerful than having access to information? 

Saburo was born into the Aikabara-Ueda sect. Most think the Ueda are split somewhat like the Hyuga--that there’s a main branch and a secondary. But no one knows the reasons behind that. They’re not anything like the Hyuga at all--Aikabara does not have to seal the second tier of their kekkei genkai nor are they considered ‘inferior’. In fact, it might be the other way around though the Ueki are considered as the ‘main Ueda’. 

Initially there had been no division between the two, but because of Asahi and Hideki’s conflicts, the two sects eventually did have a divide. It was nothing major--they were still considered ‘friendly’. But mail operations were conducted separately in rival positions. Saburo grew up into this ‘friendly rivalry’. Sure, Asahi and Hideki could become quite heated at times, but for the most part everyone else got along. There were tensions, though. Most of the rest of the Ueda stood behind Asahi in thinking they should remain out of Konoha’s major political / social positions. They had carved out their place and they didn’t want any more responsibility other than that.

Hideki didn’t care for such humble feelings, and wanted more. He would have long talks with both his wife and eldest son detailing these grand schemes and all he wanted for their clan--whether or not Asahi believed in any of it. Saburo and Souma would overhear these conversations, or sometimes Hideki would talk about it all in front of them. It wasn’t a secret, or even a problem--Hideki wasn’t trying to start any conflict. He just wanted recognition / notoriety. Of course, when things were heated between Hideki and Asahi, Hideki tended to say things that would later stick. Such as the Ueki being “Inferior” because of their lesser kekkei genkai. 

These were the things he heard growing up, what he and his brother both heard. Saburo usually took their father’s words as simply silly. Megumi often said to ignore him, and so he did. But Souma, on the other hand, was quite taken by the idea that he was born into something bigger than what they seemed. He wanted to follow along with his father. Kenji was a little more moderate in his views--placating his father’s ideals while also understanding that they were better where they were. They would be swallowed whole if they tried looking for something beyond their little life.

Not that it mattered after they died. The tensions which had merely been small and insignificant before grew. How dare Hideki try bringing their clan into Konoha’s struggles? How dare he try to take something on that was far bigger than he? It might have been guilt and stupidity that drove Asahi to ultimately abandon the orphans, but the rest of the clan could have stepped in. They didn’t, for the most part. They didn’t want these children, who had to have been poisoned by Hideki’s ramblings, to even think that they could be anything other than what they were. 

Souma lashed out at this. He remembered his father’s words. He was very proud of his status even at the young age he was. He was proud of being the Better Ueda. And so he grew angry and resentful and hated his clan. Saburo was far more conflicted.

With the rest of the clan disowning them, Saburo wasn’t sure what to think of anything. Sure, he had the memory of his father’s assertions that Aikabara-Ueda were meant for something great, and were great, but this backlash from those that were meant to be family stomped on those ideals. If they could so easily turn their backs, what were they really worth? Saburo didn’t have an answer to that, and found himself unsure of what that meant. Was he still Aikabara-Ueda, or was he...nothing. Was he simply part of a clan because they couldn’t really remove them from the compound? 

And, when Souma finally snaps and says he’s just another one of Them, another of the Inferiors, Saburo finds himself even more lost. He wasn’t wanted by his twin brother, and he wasn’t wanted by the rest of the clan. At least, not until he became a genin and Mao his teacher.

Could you give me some Nejiten Wedding AU headcanons?

NejiTen Wedding!AU Headcanon #1: Remember the two headcanons about Neji and Tenten getting together at seventeen?

This is one of those universes lol.

They are my high school sweethearts of Naruto's generation. They went on their first date at seventeen and have been with no one else ever since. They got married young too and Hideki came along when they were in the tail end of their early twenties/beginning of their mid-twenties.

They are exceptionally happy and pretty much the gold standard of relationships in their friend group. All the couples that last in the Wedding!AU are good ones, great even, but NejiTen got there first is all.

NejiTen Wedding!AU Headcanon #2: Tenten holds three gold medals in Judo from three different Olympics.

The first when she won at twenty-one, the second when she won at twenty-five and the third when she was twenty-nine.

She'd have won a fourth but by then she was thirty-three and pregnant with her second baby, and had been considering a break to be honest. So she dropped out.

By the time the next Olympics came around she was out of practice and honestly? Felt it was time to retire on a high note. Undefeated.

She did have a little cry in Neji's arms when the enormity of the situation got to her, her whole career over at thirty-seven? What was she supposed to do now?

It was Neji who, while comforting his wife and reminding her she could still kick his arse up and down the street, which made her do that watery giggle people who are crying make when they laugh, offered the idea of becoming a coach for the Olympic team.

Team Japan snapped her up and Tenten was even the head coach when their daughter Nejire told you I'd come up with a name! joined the team at seventeen.

NejiTen Wedding!AU Headcanon #3: Hideki Hyuga was not planned.

The condom split in the middle of sex lol.

No one, not a soul, is aware of this however. At least not until Ino got accidentally pregnant the exact same way and Tenten told her, cos Ino was freaking out.

But no, Hideki was not planned. He was and is greatly loved, but given when Tenten got pregnant, literally in the middle of training for the Olympics, you best believe he threw a bit of a wrench in their plans.

But they were already married then, and while they had decidedly not been planning on having kids until they were older, they knew they wanted kids eventually.

So if anyone asked why they hadn't told people they were trying, they just shrugged it off with a half-arsed explanation and changed the topic immediately.
