I saw this really great thread on twitter by Grungygrim and it definitely highlights my thoughts and frustrations with the story of these games and the Splatoon fandom as a whole. (be forewarned, i get really tilted in this blog post fyi.)

I made a blog post about 2 weeks ago where i said that i was happy that the narrative online that "Callie is an idiot who got kidnapped and then brainwashed/mind controlled against her consent" is going away. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to retract a lot of the stuff i said. I'm still seeing, TILL THIS DAY THAT NARRATIVE ONLINE! IM STILL SEEING SO MUCH MISINFORMATION AND IT MAKES ME REALLYYYY ANGRYYYY!!! As a big fan of Callie, people completely outright ignoring her character arc THAT WAS SET UP SINCE SPLATOON 1 BY THE WAY!!! and not even bothering to look at outside sources for more information and lore genuinely pisses me the fuck off to no end.

No, hypnosis is NOT MIND CONTROL/BRAINWASHING! I DONT WANNA KEEP REPEATING IT! YOU CAN LOOK IT UP! if a person is genuinely uncomfortable and doesn't wish to take the suggestions to heart while hypnotized, THEY WONT DO SO! THEY STILL HAVE CONTROL! Yes, Marie did say "kidnapped" in some of her dialogue, but from her perspective, OF COURSE SHE'S GONNA THINK CALLIE GOT KIDNAPPED! She's known to worry about Callie all the time and ruminate about her, of course she's gonna think of the worst case scenario, doesn't mean she's right though. Was Octavio still in the wrong for hypnotizing Callie in the first place and allowing her to bring out her darker traits more easily? YEAH! NO SHIT! HE'S A BAD DUDE! Not a totally evil person but he has made some awful decisions out of desperation for his people. Why do you think he was so quick to help out the New Squidbeak Splatoon in the finale of Splatoon 3? His people got turned into fluffy monsters by a giant bear, he's all about helping his people.

Hell look at how Callie acts while under the Hypnoshades, she decorates Octo Canyon and her peppy and energetic self is still in tact even during the final boss, she's just more mean and violent. Callie was in an emotional and mentally unwell situation due to her overworking herself and being incredibly lonely as her relationship with Marie was damaged overtime. Callie accepted the suggestions of DJ Octavio and heard him out, AS SAID BY HER FROM THE RELATIONSHIP CHART! She wasn't forced into anything. She didn't suffer "sexual abuse" from Octavio by being forced into skippy clothing as some psychos say online, if she didn't want to wear that outfit she wouldn't cause hypnosis is NOT MIND CONTROL!! I hate having to repeat this over and over again, i hate how the developers basically rushed and ruined this interesting villain arc with stupid shades, only to try and hastily fix it later with an obscure post about A GOD DAMN RELATIONSHIP CHART THAT PEOPLE EITHER DONT KNOW ABOUT OR DONT CARE TO LOOK AT BECAUSE THEY SEE SPLATOON AS SOMETHING FOR KIDS AND TO NOT GIVE ANY CARE TOWARDS!!!!!!!!

I made a god damn giant blog explaining Callie in Splatoon 2 because i felt so frustrated about how my favorite character in the series was being treated and i tried to salvage the story that the writers tried to make. The way that people made her situation worse by saying she got kidnapped and forcibly ""mind controlled/brainwashed"" actually gave me chest pain, thinking about that kind of scenario for Callie actually hurts me... Heck i cant even listen to the Splatoon 2 stage music or final boss music because hearing her reversed vocals makes me feel uncomfortable due to the misinformation online. I hated all the misinformation and i wanted it to stop. HELL EVEN IN GIANT TIMELINE VIDEOS WHERE PEOPLE DO TONS OF RESEARCH THEY STILL GET IT WRONG!! UGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! i guess it'll still be the common and popular notion that Callie is an idiot that got kidnapped and then ""mind controlled"" by some shades... oh well... ugh...

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as really angry, i am. It's just, my brain is really hyperfixated on this squid and she means a lot to me. Seeing the way the fandom as well as the writers treat her makes me really mad. I hope i can find some peeps who feel the same way as i do. Misinformation is so frustrating man... i dont even wanna get into the Octarians because that's a whole other can of worms... anyways im done ranting. have a good night or good morning wherever you live y'all.

Uses custom weapons to attach in place of his prosthetic; It works best with Splatlings but can be adjusted to attach other weapons.

If the thing above didn't make it obvious, he's a Splatling main. He switches out depending on his mood though.

His hat has an eye guard for sensory reasons; He covers up as much of his skin as possible because he doesn't like the feeling of foreign ink on him.

He isn't a specific weapon main, he just uses any long-range weapon to minimize the possibility of getting ink on himself. If he has enough guarding, he prefers to use N-ZAP '89.

Makes his own gear for sensory reasons as well :) It's legal when ur dad's the G-Man.

Genuinely don't have a lot to say about his design. He gives off Splatoon 2 Octoling vibes (showoff /hj) also i wanted to make his hair wispy like it should be.

Native ink color is a light blue-gray gradient.

The drawing doesn't give it credit but I swear those are glasses not goggles .. they're opaque-colored slanted oval glasses !! ^_^ u can interpret them as spiked or just eyelashes, both are right.

oh also the text under bubby says "Is Best" in some splatoon font we downloaded awhile ago . i think it was ripped from splatnet

Was going to make him an Octoling for the convenience of making his hair curly but i didn't want to make all of them octolings + i think his personality generally fits Inklings more.

hi guys! im back. i went tokyo for a few days. got back at 7 this morning after taking an overnight 7 hour bus ride.... that i did not sleep on bc i cant sleep in moving vehicles. this will be something closer to a proper blog post i guess. splatoon related convention? experience below

i've kept my mouth shut about my plans to go because its not as well known on the english side of the fanbase and i didnt wanna make people too jealous sorry LOL , but i went to splaket 22! it's an unofficial, splatoon-only doujinshi market/artists alley. this was my first convention-sort-of event ive been to since i was... in high school. i also dont really get to meet many other hardcore splatoon fans irl. i was nervous about it because i don't know a whole lot of people on the JP side nor do i have a lot of confidence in my japanese speaking/listening, but in the end it was SUPER fun. i wish i couldve talked a bit more to the artists i did encounter to comment on what i liked about their works but. Skill Issue very few non-japanese people at this event of course but one of the only english speakers i saw i called out to bc they were wearing a shirt with this exact image printed on it no video and no photos outside of designated areas were allowed so i got like. zero pics of my own. but there was a lot of cosplayers i saw! oh and here's the Loot Haul. a few doujin, a clear file, stickers, microfiber cloth and a keychain. im surprised at how little i got, i think i shouldve gone a bit crazier with it

the one with Tao Blu and oonie in the top left (by sachikazerick) I came across by chance and bought because it was cute, featured splatband characters, and also because it all in some familiar inkling language (the last point of which i told the artist as i was buying) when i finally got home and saw the back credits...

SMALL FUCKIN WORLD LOL (i tweeted at the artist afterwards to let him know i came by the table and to thank him for using me and my friend's inkling language fonts!) though truly, i think ardnin deserved the credit more rather than me since he made most of those fonts! ah well, still cool to see more and more fan works using deciphered inkling language. top middle book is a story with some salmonid characters that i havent read yet but im looking forward to it, the art is lovely. top right one was the first thing i bought. the artist is rk_splaworks, whose art i love, and we've been mutuals for a few years and have talked a bit here and there! i was so fucking nervous to meet them in person since my japanese sucks LMAO but they were happy to meet me too and we got a selfie together yippy <3 also havent read their doujin Yet since ill have to rub all my brain cells together and huddle over the dictionary, but i want their oc lore

I'm still figuring out his character even after all this time but the basic gist of him is that Arancio had been childhood friends with Peppino and one day in their very early 20s Peppino introduced Arancio and Anton to each other

it was a rocky start at first but after some time arancio started to trust him and they became really really close and eventually started dating hehe

other silly lore is that he's best friends with @peppinolovezone and @sticklovezone oc's (they are also the people who made the art I used in this post giggles), he loves seals, and his favorite foods are fried chicken, Mac and cheese, Kabasa, and deviled eggs

A bunch of sketches and pen/marker doodles! Had a lot of fun drawing the inkling and octoling Yukis, which made me decide to post some of these other ones too. I don't usually post scraps and what not but I figured, hey why not do a big ol post for fun.

I actually really liked the results in attempting splatoon faces this time. One of my favorite worlds, very iconic art and music. If you haven't heard Splatoon music before, you're missing out.

Some httyd au sketches. In which Yuki raises a baby Deathsong. I can only imagine the others needed to be convinced on that one haha. Httyd species are kinda tricky to draw for me still, but dragons in general are a huge sp:in for me, have been pretty much forever, and httyd is close to my heart as well. If you are curious, in this AU, Kinjo has a razorwhip and mekaru's got a monstrous nightmare. Not sure about the rest, maybe someday I'll get into it more. I have considered writing/drawing for some of the other aus in my brain, because aus are very fun, but not until I wrap up some other things.

Speaking of aus, this one was after a Promare rewatch haha. I have a lot of little aus lying around in my brain I guess. If you're curious, Akane, Yuki, and Utsuro were all mad burnish members here, with them being in the same position as Lio, with Gueira and Meis. Meanwhile, Tsurugi's probably aligned with Freeze Force or Burning Rescue, but is actually also secretly a burnish too. Which I'm sure he handles in a very healthy and not self destructive way, ofc. /J

And finally, one last Yuki for the road. I wonder if I'll ever get tired of drawing DRA1 Yuki...? He's pretty much a sp:in now so hopefully not (and probably not). His hair used to be such a pain but at this point it's kinda relaxing, even if I sorta draw it 10 different ways lol.

Side note this is like the most non-pony art I've posted here in ages isn't it? I didn't expect for this to become a blog solely focused on my pony au but I won't lie I'm pretty invested in it at this point, art and story wise.

Boatboys Splatoon AU

[REPOST] Moved this from another blog to the main. If you saw the original, no you didn't! /silly

Boat boys am I right chat? Our Splatoon 3 hyperfixation is back :P

Rambles under cut. ^^

The brainrot is so real, where do I even begin? Okay okay for starters, Etho is a sanitized Octoling, not he wasn't always sanitized. He was one of the Octoling's that went through the Octo Expansion levels to try to reach the Promise Land but ultimately he failed and was converted. Cut to after the events of the Octo Expansion and all the Octolings are freed and returned back to the surface.

Etho... Didn't quite adjust to living back on the surface and let's just say, being brainwashed for so long left a lasting impact. It took him YEARS before he even thought about touching turf war again because of the trauma he's been through.

Joel on the other hand is your run of the mill Inkling. He holds down a steady job at a pottery studio, participates in turf wars whenever he gets the chance, maintains his S+ rank and is always the first to invite his friends out to join him in a match.

Eventually after Etho came to terms with his trauma he started competing in turf wars and after becoming comfortable with his surrounding, started competing in ranked matches as well. That's how Joel met him.

Joel was confused at first, seeing an Octoling on the other team with blue-green skin and the way his ink maintained a green tinge around the edges despite the enemy team color being purple. That didn't stop Etho from completely mopping the floor with him during Splat Zones though. After the match was over with, Joel tried his best to meet up with the mysterious Octoling but by the time both teams were packing up to leave the site, Etho was no where to be found. Joel asked he's team mates about him but they didn't have much to say about him, said he was quiet and didn't talk much outside of greetings and light conversation but Joel continued the hunt.

A few weeks would go by before their paths would cross again, in the form of a Tower Control match. This time the two were paired up on the same team. Joel tried to make conversation with Etho but he only gave quick or simple answers, sometimes responding with a shrug or two. During the match Etho shredded the opposing team from afar with his Z+F Splat Charger while Joel made quick work of them, rushing in with his Custom Splattershot JR.

After the match was finished, Joel expected Etho to disappear as soon as it was over with but was surprised to see the Octoling had stuck around to congratulate him on how well was doing on the Tower. They talked some more before finally having to part ways, with Etho stating he had to catch a train. They said their final goodbyes and before officially parting ways, Joel slipped Etho a piece of paper.

Etho didn't open the slip of paper until he settled in on his train, inside was Joel's shell-phone number hurried written out in his own ink. Thus, sparking a beautiful friendship.

shes based on neopolitan icecream and dresses in himekaji gyaru fashion! i made her to be a cafe owner which is located in splatsville. she has 2 younger siblings(both unnamed) based on strawberry icecream and vanilla icecream. lovina is known to hang out with idols, making her well known to the media!

This is crow/no.1333 my oe oc! (he/they) crow isnt his real name, they cant remember it!

before oe's events he was a general in the octarian army before the octos were sent underground. tartar had taken many of octavios army but this was the only army general he was able to get, so during oe's events once tartar sanitised him, tartar kept him close.

after oe's events, when the octos got to paradise, he wasn't sure what to do with himself.(also crow only remembers some of their memories, he remembers working in the army but not alot about him as an individual)

hes not got any hobbies really(except maybe photography??), he works at grizzco nearly 24/7. crow mains nearly any long range weapons eg e-liter, hydra, explosher..

he lives underground but has a spare small flat in splatsville, he prefers it underground tho, he hasn't seen octavio since hes been free.

hes quite cold... hes a workaholic and he misses working for octavio ALOT!

This is idol group, Final Paradise. this group includes my 4 unnamed characters 🥲 i took alot of time designing them to the point i didn't name them!! i can show their concept designs in another post if anyone wants.

after escaping the underground together, these 4 were determined to explore inkdia together! once blogging their journey they settled near the coast.

these r their outfit designs since i haven't drawn them fully yet! also yes, they are based on different times of day + weather

YOU GUYS BETTER TRUST THE PROCESS WHEN IT COMES TO PROJECTS. They may end up becoming unbalanced (ahem.) but it's worth it at the end.

I painted his gloves, but I don't think this picture does it justice. I made his scarf (?? idk what it's called) out of paper and taped it to him.

My camera was absolutely tweaking out with this photo. I'm a little upset about that. Finally, him in his round head glory.

Under the cut is just a few words I have about this guy and the future of the blog (nothing bad dw!!)

I am absolutely glowing with pride from this dude. For the few days where he stood un-painted, I was really thinking about giving up on him since I've been tired and the want to start on other projects was getting to me.

Surprisingly the only thing that kept me going was the fact I didn't want another two chunks of dried clay on my desk. (The other chunks came from a never finished WIP for my Ralsei cosplay.) They're still sitting here very much lifeless.

I'm glad I have another addition to my ghost collection. He sits on the other side of the of my Papa Nihil 'figure'.

Now for the future of the blog:

For a while I've been wondering if I should keep this a Ghost fan page or if I should post art of the fandoms, I'm into (like ATHF, Undertale, Splatoon). I also have a story that I'm currently writing that's unrelated to everything that I just spoke about. But uh it would be nice to hear what y'all think.

Keep in mind not all responses will have art though, and the ones that do will have art similar to this (just kinda their heads lol) I’m really excited to start this blog and I hope I’ll find people along the way who are just as excited as I am! Callie, in my opinion, is the factually greatest character in the splatoon series. As one of the oldest characters in the series she has made quite the impression! In splatoon one her characterization was mostly hand in hand with Marie, but that is okay! Her and Marie have a wonderfully fun dynamic. People rave about Pearlina but I think I love sibling dynamics just as much as lesbian ones! Marie and Callie bicker a lot but it's clear, especially from Callie in the first game, that she genuinely loves her cousin. Her first choice was team Marie, and though this is likely just stage dialogue, I think that's a sentiment she actually does hold. Her and Marie's dynamic is put to the test in splatoon 2 but it comes out on top. However, in splatoon 2, we get a deeper look at her psyche. Callie is someone who craves companionship. We see how she struggles without it. When her and Marie drift apart, it leaves her unable to be happy. She draws a sad face on the window and posts it to her blog. Craig and Three were gone as well, leaving her completely alone. However, who was there? Octavio. Now, Octavio isn't evil per say, but I would say that a lonely and isolated Callie would be prime for manipulation into working for him. And she does choose too, first willingly, and then putting the shades on. However she is no less isolated down there as she was up there, surrounded by fans but not by friends, not ones who actually care about her anyways. Octavio is using her for his status. The other elites likely see her as an enemy first. When Marie offers her that hand she's saying 'I'm sorry, lets be the squid sisters again' and Callie lets herself believe that she is loved. Splatoon 3 we see the end of this arc. Callie is now happier. She wants to go to space. She has a more mature outfit, reflecting that she has matured. She doesn't seem lonely anymore. I think her and Marie had some serious conversations and both restructured their lives so the other could be in it more. This lead to both becoming happier overall. Marie still has her podcast, for instance, but now Callie joins every so often. The reason Craig doesn't die is specifically so that Callie is not losing anyone else. We also learn from Smollusk that Callie now has Octoling friends, showing she has that companionship she so desired. What will happen in future games? Will Callie learn how to function without Marie? Will she become brainwashed again? Only time will tell, but whatever is in store for this lovable inkling, I can't wait to see it. Perchance.

No one is as unshakeable as Callie fans online…

This blog is dedicated to my journey as a disability advocate! More-so an advocate for those who struggle to find diagnoses, financially cannot obtain mobility aids, and a safe space.

A little about me, more-so disability wise!

I’m autistic! My special interests are MHA (My Hero Academia), Trigun, Splatoon, Persona 1, Persona 2, and Persona 3. Also Spider-Man!

I have Celiac Disease, which means that my body panics whenever gluten (protein found in wheat, barley, and rye) is ingested. I am extremely sensitive to cross-contamination.

I also have a new, unknown condition that sprang up a while ago. All I know is that UV light is a main trigger (there are other triggers as well) and the flares are worse than my celiac flares. It greatly impacts my mobility and presents constant fatigue.

Lastly, I have a few speech impediments? Unsure what to call my scenario but I tend to jumble my words and speak too fast. Had a speech therapist long ago. I also have speech loss/verbal shutdowns at times! I use verbal-fluid because I am just unsure of things.

Currently due to finances and other life situations, I cannot afford some other helpful disability aids. I want to address that even if you financially struggle? I see you, and you are valid! /gen.

I ALMOST FORGOT I WAS FOLLOWING THIS BLOG- But hi I think I'm going to become a pool toy collector- I just got my first piece in my collection and she is gorgeous :D

splatoon made official pool toys of the reefslider and I just got mine today, I love her <3 idk what I'm gonna name her tho so if you have name suggestions feel free to throw them my way LOL

I'll be taking her to the local swim club tomorrow and I'm very excited >:3c
