@lunariadew asked: 'Can you write a poly fic maby like a feel good fic or date night or something with all the boys! Iâm greedy and I think thereâs not enough poly fics as there should be'
Nothing profound this time around! Just some good old-fashioned shenanigans. I've wanted to do a fic with all the boys for SO long (Infold, hire me to write a sitcom-style show for the guys, PLEASE) I've kept it platonic since it's early stages; it's open to interpretation about how many sparks are flying and between whom exactly..... đ But if ppl want more of this, I'm all over it. Platonic or romantic? I'll play it by ear!

âRafayel⌠what do you think this is?â
The artist stands at your open door, wearing a self-assured smile and one of the flashier outfits youâve seen him in, and thatâs really saying something. Between you is a bouquet of lilies, petals curled like frozen licks of fire that complimentâ deliberately, if you had to guessâ the warmer fires within his eyes. Those eyes narrow at your question.
âWhat do you think it is?â he says suspiciously, lowering the flowers.
ââŚGame night?â
Youâre not sure why you phrase it so tentatively. You know what it is; youâre the host. You open your door wider, stepping aside to give Rafayel a better view of the apartment behind you, and the remainder of his smile sinks.
âHi,â Xavier calls out, and you donât have to see him to know heâs giving a wholesome sort of wave.
âHiâŚâ Rafayel answers, barely more than a whisper as his eyes flit between everyone else in the room, because heâs the last to arrive. âGame night, yeah,â he nods assertively, âI knew that.â Then a deep breath: âCan I, like, put these somewhereââ
âKitchen counter,â you gesture.
âGot it.â He doesnât have to be told twice.
Closing the door behind him, you watch as he skirts past the lounge and makes for your kitchen, where another bouquet already lies waiting. He zeroes in on it. âLooks like mineâs not the only heart youâre breaking tonight, huh, cutie? What are theseââ he pokes at a petalâ âdaturas?â
âTheyâre her favourite,â speaks a distinctly low voice.
Rafayel doesnât look up. He plonks his bouquet on top of the other and winces: âTheyâre really not, though.â
âHeâs right,â you chip in, giving Sylus a sheepish smile, and now Rafayel looks up, beaming.
âShe likes roses,â Zayne says, with the calm confidence heâd quote a medical journal. On the sofa beside him, Xavier nods, and you grin at them both.
âNoted,â Sylus chuckles.
Rafayelâs less convinced. âSince when?!â
âSince forever, Raf. I like lilies too, so I didnât say anything, âkay?â You beckon him back to the lounge, ignoring his splutters of disbelief. âCâmere, let me introduce you to everyone.â
The man slinks to your side like a reluctant shadow, and your hands find your hips. âThis is Zayne. Xavier,â you point out, putting faces to names; Rafayelâs heard stories about each. Then you nod towards Sylus. âOver thereâs Skye.â
From his place by the window, Sylus lifts a hand in greeting.
âSo⌠yeah,â you finish. Oh, wait! âGuys, this isââ
âThey know who I am,â Rafayel shrugs, his fame apparently heavy on his shoulders. He glances around the room for validation, but he gets none, so he tries again. âYou do know who I am, right?â
âSorry,â Xavier admits with an awkward smile, glancing back at Sylus: you?
The man has to think about it. You know for a fact heâs traded more than one of Rafayelâs paintings for a profit, but he smirks and gives an even more exaggerated shrug than the artist himself.
Really?
âYouâre Rafayel,â Zayne states plainly.
âYeah! See, I told you, cutieââ
âYou slipped on a paintbrush and checked yourself into Akso, right? The nurses still talk about it.â
Rafayelâs enthusiasm drains. He looks conflicted as he mulls over the additional information. âIn, like, a good way?â he hazards.
Zayne stares back at him, wielding silence like a scalpel before cutting deeper with a: ââŚsure.â
You bite back a smile. Leaving the two to discuss the finer details of Rafayelâs notoriety at the hospital, you wander over to the kitchen, where you fish out a vase from the back of a cupboard. You fill it, set it down on the counter, then reach for Sylusâs bouquet. Thereâs a black satin ribbon; you untie it.
âAre you sure this is a good idea, sweetie?â asks the man himself, joining you discreetly.
The others canât really hear youâ theyâre still talking. âWhat,â you smirk, retrieving your scissors from a drawer, âyou worried Xavierâs gonna arrest you?â
Sylus laughs lowly, quietly. âThatâs adorable.â
âGood.â You pick up a flower and trim a leaf from the stem. âBecause even if he wanted toââ you wave it, just short of his faceâ âIâd protect you, ok?â
He regards the flower beneath his nose. Smiles smugly. âThese can be toxic, sweetie.â
âReally? Whoops.â You put it down, then snatch up a lily from Rafayelâs bouquet. âEn Garde!â
âThese too.â
âWhat the hell?â
The flame-red flower drops from your fingers, and Sylus laughs more sincerely. âStick to roses, kitten. OrâŚâ He moves his hand over his deconstructed bouquet, his Evol pruning the rest of the leaves from the stems. A tendril of it gathers the flowers, delivering them to him so he can hold them out to you with a flourish. âLive dangerously. Who am I to judge?â
You take them, then plop them into the vase. âCute.â
âIâm here all week,â he grins. âYouâd better wash your hands, hmm?â
With a hmph of agreement, you turn to the sink. You spend half a minute, rubbing soap and warm water over your hands, and when you turn back aroundâ still drying themâ something is different. The lilies are gone. Sylus is looking at you, innocuous.
âReal mature, Skye.â
He makes no effort to defend himself. Youâre about to tell him that his magic better extend to making flowers reappear when your attention is whipped back to the lounge. The voices from that side have raised, so you lean forward on your kitchen island, watching their owners in a sort of stakeout.
âI take it you have a plan,â Sylus whispers, leaning with you.       Â
You look at him. He looks back. âThe plan is for hosts,â you scold, ânot guests.â Heâs much too close so you step away, reaching for the vase of daturas and holding them threateningly out, like youâre not afraid to use them. âGo back to the guests, deserter.â
Sylus lifts his hands in surrender, smirking in a way that says he knows heâs met his match. You shoo him further, back into enemy lines, then resume your stakeout. Xavier is sharing his own âembarrassingâ medical storyâ talking about a time where he once passed out from exhaustion while fighting at your side, and you think itâs supposed to make Rafayel feel better.
It doesnât, of course, and even Zayne is gazing down at the floor, self-conscious.
Sylus meets your eyes across the room, signals with a tip of his head: now's a good time for that master plan, sweetie.
Right. Your plan. Your master plan, yeah.
âŚ
âYou should have picked the doctor.â
Sylusâs words are near-silent: for you, not anyone else, and you pretend you donât hear them. âBut no,â he carries on, because he knows you can, âyou just had to have the artist.â
âItâs Pictionary!â you snap, drawing all eyes in the room.
Lounging beside you, Sylus feigns an amused surprise, as though he hasnât just been trying to elicit that exact reaction. On the other sofa, Zayne and Xavier stare, taken more genuinely aback. You give a smile of apology.
âGuys, concentrate!â Rafayel clicks his fingers at you. Heâs stood in the centre of the space by a large drawing pad, and he goes back to frantically sketching on it. The drawing is⌠interesting. Abstract. Maybe even beautiful? But you donât have a clue what it is.
âThirty seconds,â warns Zayne, studying the little egg-timer heâs guarding.
You tilt your head at the drawing. Thereâs maybe aâ wait, where did those extra colours come from? Where did he even get those pens? Anyway⌠thereâs a circle. âA globe?â you guess. âEarth! No? Umm⌠oh! The sun! The moon!â
Rafayel shakes his head with every suggestion, adding even more intricate, unhelpful scribbles. Is that a fifth pen?! You nudge your other teammate, calling for back-up.
Sylus regards the drawing listlessly. âA unicorn.â
âWhat?!â Rafayelâs tone has reached a pitch that almost makes you wince. âNo! Câmon, are you even trying?â
âNo,â Sylus lilts with a pleasant smile, lifting the drink heâs been nursing to his lips.
You kick his foot. âA bowl of fruit!â you exclaim, determined to make up for the lack of enthusiasm. âA plate? A plate with food? Breakfast! Lunch! Dinner!â
âTimeâs up,â Zayne interrupts, and itâs a mercy, really; you deflate with a sigh.
Rafayel puts his hands on his hips as he takes a step back to observe his work. He tucks four fine-liners back into his pocketâ purses his lips as though he really canât see a problemâ and heâs keeping you all in suspense.
Sylus is up in an instant, stealing a card from where itâs been discarded on the coffee table. He reads the answer, then rolls his eyes. The original pen was also abandoned, so he plucks it up, then strides to the drawing pad.
He draws an oval. Then a triangle.
âA fish! A fish!â you cry out.
âYouâre good at this, sweetie,â Sylus grins. He puts the lid on the pen with a click before dropping it into Rafayelâs hand.
âIs it my turn?â Xavier asks, trying to relieve the tension of the room. He gets up and smiles as Rafayel passes him the pen. âYour drawing is pretty. The composition is reallyââ
âDonât,â Rafayel says. âLike, thanks? But donât.â
âFair enough,â Xavier chuckles.
You all prepare for the next round: Zayne handing you the egg-timer, Xavier re-organising the stack of prompt cards. Sylus takes a photo of the drawing pad before ambling back overâ a moping Rafayel in towâ and they both sink down either side of you. You glance at the latter, giggling. âA fish, Raf? Really?â
âSo I didnât just wanna draw you some basic fish, ok?â The artist crosses his arms with a pout. âBut fine, enjoy mediocrity, I guess.â
To your left, Sylus raises his glass in toast to the notion. Thereâs a noise: Xavier tearing the used page from the pad. You look up. âXavier, can I have that?â
âSure.â He brings it over to you.
You look at the drawing again, holding it at armâs length and rotating it experimentally. Youâre seeing a lot, but nothing that screams âfishâ. Thereâs a circle, still. Oh! âItâs a fish bowl! Wait, wait, waitâ is that Reddie?â
âYeah!â Rafayel beams.
âAww!â
The renewed team spirit drops off with Sylus; heâs on his phone, not paying attention. He seems to sense your scrutiny because he peers up, gives a ghost of a smile, then returns to whatever heâs doing. Meanwhile, Xavier is ready for his turn, so he signals for you to start the timer. You give him a thumbs up as you turn it over. âGo!â
He starts drawing.
âA car,â Zayne guesses after all of five seconds. Correct. Next. âA river? No. Oh. A snake.â Yes. âA cupcake?â Also yes. (In fairness, he was never going to struggle with that one.) âA person? Ok. Oh, a scientist, no? Ah, a doctor.â Yes again, and reallyâ what?
Zayne continues to list correct answers, though thankfully, thatâs the last of the coincidences. You watch on, vaguely in awe, until you feel your phone buzz in your pocket. You check it casually, aware that Sylus is next to you, looking down at it too.
Itâs a text from him: The drawing⌠Can I have it?
You glance up at him subtly, meeting his eyes and giving a discreet yet firm shake of your head. He frowns. Youâre not having this debate here, now, so you let your gaze return to the drawing pad while idly retrieving your drink.
A few seconds later, thereâs another text: Found buyer
Then another: Quarter of a mil
You almost choke on that drink.
âUmm⌠cutie?â Rafayel asks, poking you. He points at the timer youâve left on the coffee table, and the top half is empty.
âShit, yeah. Thatâs time!â you call.
Xavier stops drawing. The small, crude sketches behind him have reached double digits. He looks really proud. âGreat! How many was that?â
His eyes find you. Zayne and Rafayelâs, too. Were you supposed to be counting? Uhâ
âEleven,â says Sylus, and itâs way too smug to be a lie.
âAwesome!â Xavier flips the drawing pad over to where youâve been tallying point totals. He adds eleven marks to one side. âThatâsââ he counts bothâ âah, thirty-three to nine.â
A silence falls over the room. Unsure of what else to do, you give a half-hearted round of applause and Xavier laughs awkwardly, still humble, despite it all. âI think weâre kinda done with Pictionary, yeah?â you suggest, rising from your seat. âI should probably get started on food, anyway.â
âOh, donât worry about that.â
The insistence came from Xavier, and you freeze suspiciously; heâs never turned down free food.
âYouâve already done so much,â he explains, âsetting this all up for us. You should relax, really! Leave it to me.â
The word ârelaxâ is not synonymous with the image of Xavier anywhere near your kitchen, but heâs looking at you so earnestly, blue eyes brimming with warmth, and what are you supposed to say? No thanks, Xavierâ I value my life? Everyoneâs watching you. Gods help you. âThatâs really sweet, Xavier. Thanks.â
Your fellow Hunterâs smile widens even more. He heads off to the kitchen, a spring to his step that makes your heart sink with dread. âActuallyââ you glance at your ex-teammatesâ âcould you two go help him? Zayne and Iâll tidy up over here.â
Rafayel and Sylus do as theyâre asked, even though their expressions remind you that cooking is not, typically, a three-man job. Itâs tactical, though. You wanted a moment alone with Zayne. âAre you ok?â you ask, once the others are out of earshot. âI know this must all be a lot. The guys can be, well⌠yeah.â
He knows what you mean, right?
Zayne has slipped away from the couch; heâs crouched on the floor, collecting a few prompt cards that have wandered astray. He glances up at you, pushing his glasses back on his nose. âIâm ok,â he assures with a fond smile. âThank you, though.â
âYouâre welcome.â He hands you the cards and you slot them back into their deck. Then you turn to the drawing pad. âYou and Xavier make a good team, huh?â
The doctor straightens to his full height. âMmm. It helped that we didnât spend the entire game comparing the size of our⌠drawing abilities.âÂ
You laugh unashamedly. The penâs still at-hand, so you pick it upâ reward another point.
Zayne chuckles.
âFoodâs gonna be a while.â
You both turn, following the voice back to Sylus, who has apparently decided heâs had his fill of kitchen duty. What was thatâ a minute? He seems to have anticipated your dissatisfaction, because heâs brought a bribe with him: the box of chocolates that had come with his bouquet. Itâs already open and he holds it out, tempting you.
Heâs rightâ you donât know when youâll next be eatingâ so you select a heart-shaped chocolate, popping it into your mouth with a smile and a muffled: âthanks.â
Sylus smiles back. Then he holds the box out to Zayne. âDoctor?â
It takes a nod of encouragement from you to prompt Zayne into taking something. He chooses a white chocolate truffle, mumbles his own thanks, but Sylus doesnât relentâ not yet. He shakes the box slightly, incitingly, and he doesnât move it away until Zayne takes two more.
Your physician shoots you a surreptitious smile as Sylus falls back onto the couch, content heâs won your hearts, and that he wonât be sent back to the kitchen anytime soon. His long fingers lift another chocolate from the box, and he meets your eyes as he slips it slowly past his lips, humming like heâs enjoying himself.
You cross your arms, unimpressed. He gives you the least convincing look of innocence youâve ever seen.
Thereâs an exclamation from the kitchen: âHey, where did my flowers go!?âÂ
Shit. You hastily push the drawing pad aside then scurry over to assist Rafayel. You donât have a plan, exactly; itâs not like you can help him look for them. âUmm⌠theyâre around, Raf. I moved them somewhere safer, thatâs all.â
âWhere?â
âUhââ
âDoes it matter?â Sylus speaks from behind you, because he and Zayne are close at your heels. âShe said theyâre somewhere safe.â He leans on the kitchen island. âDonât you trust her?â
Rafayel scoffs. âI trust her plenty.â
âSo prove it. Drop it.â
âSkye,â you caution, âstop.â
Sylus does stop, but not because you asked. Heâs done enough already, hasnât he? Rafayel is bristling with indignanceâ a lit fuseâ and behind him, Xavier sneakily checks the trash can, looking relieved at what he doesnât find. He gives you a subtle glance: Where actually are the flowers?
You lift a shoulder an inch: Beats me!
Thereâs a soft, almost imperceptible crackle, and it draws your eyes to the vase of daturas between you all. Theyâve caught lightâ their petals twisting, darkening, within larger flowers of fire.
âRafayel!â you gasp. âNo, no, no, the fire alarm!â
The torched flowers are encased, all of a sudden, in a fine layer of shimmering frost. Sylus blinks down at them, unmoved by their destruction. Zayneâs hand is still outstretched, snowflakes etched over his palm. Then something⌠odd happens. The ice doesnât stop. It spreads over the rest of the kitchen island, to all of your bewilderment.
âZayne?â Your voice is fraught with worry, but you donât give a damn about your kitchen.
The man winces, and you so rarely see him out of control. The silver-white patterns have crawled up his wrist, and the ice continues to spread; even Sylus steps back. Sharp, jagged crystals start to formâ inching out towards everyone.
âZayne!â you try again.
His chest rises as he drags air through his teeth; it looks like it hurts, but the ice does stop. The others are still, suspended by momentary uncertainty, and you rush to Zayneâs side, taking his hand.
âWhat the hell was that?â Rafayel remarks, shaking away his surprise and thawing an icicle thatâs way too close for comfort.
âHe wouldnât have needed to use his Evol if you hadnât used yours.â
Itâs Xavier, strangelyâ you would have expected Sylus. The Hunterâs tone is gentle as always, but thereâs something behind it, this time: a frustration that lends an edge.
Rafayel hears it too. âHey, Iâm not the one who started this!â He points to Sylus. âHeââ
âHas been lighting fires all evening,â Xavier finishes. âBut at least his were only figurative.â
Sylus laughs, and itâs the kind of laugh where you just know heâs vying to make things worse. âLook at that,â he says, âthe boy next door can bite.â
Xavierâs eyes sharpen. Beside you, Zayne slips his hand from yours. Itâs an instinct you know well. This moment is volatile, and you have to be ready. It could go a dozen different ways; itâs just waiting for a spark.
âGuys,â you manage to get out, âplease, just⌠everyone, take a breath, ok? Everythingâs fine, we just have toââ
A spark.
Thereâs smoke. Actual smoke. âXavier, behind you!â Zayne alerts.
Itâs creeping out of the oven and Xavier turnsâ eyes wideâ to open its door before any of you can stop him. Thicker smoke billows out, filling the air, and you all scramble away from it. The fire alarm triggers. You think Rafayelâs shouting something, but you canât really hear him. Then Sylus is shouting. Maybe even Zayne. The alarm is piercing your ears and making you dizzyâ or is it the smoke?
You feel a hand on your shoulder and suddenly everything changes.
Thereâs cool air, brushing over your skin, and itâs dark; youâre outside the building. You can still hear the alarm, shrill but further away, and your window is easy to spot: thereâs a red light flashing behind it. Sylus leans into your vision, saying your name.
âStay here,â he tells you, âalright?â
Heâs gone in another moment, lost to a flicker of crimson-black darkness.
Gods, youâre so stupid.
âŚ
You sit on a short wall outside of your building, and the street is full of people. You recognise most of them: neighbours. Every single one is mad at you. Youâre all waiting for the alarm to cut outâ for the all-clear to be given. The fire wasnât that serious in the end, but thereâs still a procedure. You would know; this isnât exactly your first evacuation.
The guys are safe, which is good, because it means you can kill them later. Theyâve all gotten lost in the throng, and your neighbours can keep them. Maybe theyâll kill them for you. Â
âHey, cutie.â
You were staring down at your feet, but you look up at Rafayelâs voice. Heâs coming towards you, evoking a sense of dĂŠjĂ vu, because heâs clutching a bouquet of flame lilies. Thatâs⌠the bouquet of flame lilies. How?
âSkye gave âem back to me,â he explains, chuckling at your expression, and heâs close enough now to hold the flowers out to you. âI donât know where he was keeping them. His Evolâs weird, huh?â
âYeah,â you say timidly, taking the bouquet and gazing down into the petals; they still smell sweet.
Rafayel sits next to you, shuffling close, and he leans his head on your shoulder with a tired sigh. You want to be mad at him. You really, really doâ but youâre suddenly not.
âIâm sorry, Rafayel.â The admission barely makes it out of your throat.
You feel his head lift. âYouâre sorry?â
âI know it was just a misunderstanding,â you speak into the flowers, âbut tonight⌠wasnât what you were expecting, I get it. I mean, I kinda threw you into the deep end with all this. You didnât know you were gonna be around other people, and Iââ
âWhoaâ cut that out, yeah? Youâre killing me, cutie. I spend the whole evening causing trouble, and youâre gonna take all the blame? Nope. Not happening. It was a collaborative effort at least, ok?â
You giggle. âOk.â Â
âGood.â His head slumps back down on your shoulder, and yours tilts to rest against it. âThanks, though. Really,â he whispers, so quiet you almost donât notice.
Footsteps and familiar voices draw you from the intimacy of the moment. The others are wandering back to you, having finally escaped the veritable mob of your neighbours. They all look tired.
Xavier settles down on the other side of you, and Zayne sits beside him. Sylus takes a seat next to Rafayel with a huff, but heâs not half as unhappy as heâs pretending to be.
All of you sit in silence, gazes flitting between your windowâ where there are still glimpses of moving figuresâ and everyone else whoâs been evacuated. For the first time all evening, the quiet isnât tense. Itâs peaceful. Easy.
âWeâll do better next time,â Zayne speaks softly.
Next time? You scoff. âDo any of you actually want there to be a next time?â
âI had fun,â Sylus chuckles. Heâs taken his coin from his pocket, and he flips it, amusing himself.
âI had fun too,â Xavier grins.
âCooking again, Xavier?â quips one of your neighbours, as they happen to pass by.
The man beside you laughs, but you can tell itâs forced. Your hand finds his; you give it a little squeeze, letting him know that it wasnât his fault. His heart was in the right place. Itâs always in the right place.
You nudge Rafayel away from you so you can sit up straighter, your free hand rubbing your arm, caressing prickled skin. Youâre about to ask for a jacket when something heavy drapes over your shoulders. Itâs a coatâ still warmâ and its owner is stood behind you; you didnât even notice him get up.
âThanks, Sylus,â you smile.
All eyes turn to you. What are theyâ?
Oh.

I Can See You | jjh
Genre: workplace romance ; oneshot Synopsis: After a wild, unforgettable hookup with Jung Jaehyun, you were convinced you'd never see him again. Apparently, you were wrong because why is he strutting into your office as your newest coworker? Pairing: Jung Jaehyun x Reader Warnings: explicit sexual content (18+) Notes: 16k words, song prompt was I Can See You by Taylor Swift. Had a bad writer's block and wrote this on a whim in the middle of the night while I was high on Speak Now TV and fueled with cold coffee.
"So, are you going to Tiff's birthday party? We'll go to that new bar downtown. The one that recently had a big opening."
You shook your head without glancing at your coworker, Jenna. Your eyes were focused on the task flashing on your computer screen. "I have plans with my sister."
"I see. That's too bad. You haven't gone out with us in a long time. I thought I'd be able to convince you this time."
You gave her a quick glance and an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I've been busy."
Jenna narrowed her eyes at you. "Are you sure you didn't get a boyfriend? You used to be the life of the party. Now you rarely ever show up. I mean, even though your sister has moved in with you, I don't think that's enough reason to suddenly change your habits."
"No, Jen. No boyfriend. I love partying with you girls, but lately, I just don't feel like it. Do you know what I think about every day when I clock in for work?" you grumbled at her curious expression. "Clocking out."
"Oh my god, you're getting old," Jenna faked a gasp that made you laugh.
"I'll make it up to you though."
"It's fine if you don't. But do let me know when you're feeling up to it again." Jenna flashed a wide grin. "We'll tear this city apart when you do."
Your chat was cut short when you spotted your department's head walking into the office. Jean rushed to her desk and there was a quick shuffle of feet before everyone settled in their own spaces. You eyed your department head and saw that he was coming in with someone else. It must be the new analyst who's officially replacing the last one who resigned recently. That's great because Tiffany's been going through double her usual workload as the only data analyst on your team.
"Good morning, Team!" your department head greeted. "Today's a good day."
Indeed it is, you think so too. It's probably even the best day in the office, given the immaculate sight before you.
"My, my. Look at that..." Jenna discreetly tapped on your shoulder. "A tall, handsome gentleman has graced this tiny workspace with his presence."
You just shook your head dismissively despite also thinking the same thing. When your eyes flitted back to the two men standing by the doorway, you found the new guy's eyes fixated on you. It was like you had been hit by a freight train, the nerves making your heart beat wildly and your eyes widen ever so slightly when you recognized him. Jung Jaehyun.
"This is Jaehyun. Starting today, he will be joining our team as our new data analyst. I trust all of you to help him settle down and get to know our company. I also expect all of you to get along well."
"Yes, sir!"
"Welcome Jaehyun!"
"Welcome to the team!"
Your coworkers immediately gathered around him, greeting, introducing themselves, and welcoming him into the team. Jenna slides towards you in her chair.
"Is it just me or have I seen him before?"
"I'm sure it's just you," you lied, chuckling nervously as you cleared your throat.
Jaehyun was courteous, greeting every single one of you and shaking hands with everyone. You notice him lingering a little longer by your desk but pay it no mind and treat him like it's your first time meeting him. He examined your face as if he was trying to see if you really didn't recognize him at all. That look made you a little impatient, especially after flashes of memories displayed in your head; ones where he was giving you the same intense gaze while you were straddling him.
"It's nice to meet you, y/n." He smiled before leaving your desk and even after he was gone, the way he said your name replayed in your head like a broken record.
"You think he's hot, don't you?" Jenna teased. You had been trying to focus on your job but Jaehyun's desk had to be across the room, right within your line of sight. He was going through some papers with Tiffany, seemingly getting his first taste of his new job post.
He was just as dashing as you remembered, in his complete set of suit and neatly styled hair. Although when you first met, he didn't have his coat or his glasses on. He probably doesn't even need those unless he's reading or something. You know his eyesight works well, judging by how clearly he can navigate even in the dim lights of the hotel room you locked yourselves in a few months back. The memory made you squeeze your legs together, feeling a nervous but euphoric rush run down your heart to your stomach. You cleared your throat, tugging on Jenna's arm to excuse yourself.
In the restroom, you checked yourself out in the mirror and washed your hands for no reason. That night with Jaehyun was like a fever dream, almost surreal. What's even more surreal was meeting him again, even in an actual dream. After that night, you regretted escaping in the morning while he was still asleep. You regretted not giving him your phone number when he asked for it and also not asking for his. You never saw him again after that, even when you tried going back to the place you first met him. You've come to make peace with the fact that you will never be able to see him again, or even meet anyone like him. Yet now he comes strutting into your office and introduces himself as your new coworker? You can't tell if you're being rewarded or screwed over.
"So, Jaehyun..." Tiffany was beaming when she approached you and Jenna by the pantry. "I invited him to come with us tonight and he's totally down."
"You invited him?" Jenna exclaimed in disbelief and Tiffany nodded. "He's a guy."
Tiffany shrugged nonchalantly. "And? It's my birthday. Besides, Carl and the department chief are coming too so technically, this isn't a girls' night out."
That seemed to have convinced Jenna. "That makes sense."
Tiffany turned to you and started batting her eyelashes. "So, is my favorite colleague coming tonight?"
You chuckled at the flattery. "I would love toâ"
"Ah," Tiffany cut you off, covering her ears. "I don't wanna hear it."
"Tiff..." you lilted but she just pouted and shook her head.
"I know exactly what comes after 'I would love to', y/n," she ranted, looking sulky. "It's my birthday."
"I know that but it's also my sister's birthday, so..."
"Oh." Tiffany softened at you after hearing your reason. "I didn't know we had the same birthday."
You just shrugged. Tiffany went on to suggest celebrating together but you declined because you've already made a reservation in a nice restaurant and you'll be with your parents. She tried charming you to agree to meet them at the bar after you're done with the family dinner and you could only say you'll try but won't make any promises. Honestly, knowing Jaehyun would be there too piqued your interest. Now you're curious to know what would happen at the bar, but you held it all in. You're simply just tired and would rather go home after a nice dinner than spend energy on socializing until late. Not even the hot specimen will be enough to convince you otherwise.
You had a hearty family dinner and Tiffany had her party. Judging by the stories on their social media, you can tell your coworkers had plenty of fun. Strangely, as you swiped through their posts, you didn't feel any ounce of envy at all. In the past, you would've been the organizer of this party. You would be coming home wasted, or not come home at all. But instead, you're wrapped in your blankets, scrolling through your phone on a Friday. You do feel bad about turning Tiffany down, but you won't swap this peaceful weekend for any rowdy, noisy, and dizzying nightclub.
Jenna was right. You're getting old. But you also know sooner or later, they'll succumb to the same lifestyle as yours right now.
Your finger pressed on one picture in Tiffany's long array of stories, the one where Jaehyun was posing with your colleagues. He stood out the most, with his pearly white skin and tall height. In his hand was a bottle of beer, his cheeks and chest were rosy due to alcohol and the rims of his eyes were pinkish. Your eyes focused on his lips, plump and red under the flash of the camera. Your mind spiraled again, falling into an immediate recollection of the one-night stand with Jaehyun. The weather was cold at the time, but Jaehyun's skin was hot against yours. His eyes were fiery with lust, staring you down and scanning your entire being as if he were trying to memorize you. His arms were strong, and so were his chest. You remember how the high came as quickly as it left, and how it was the best part of the whole thing. It was an intense night out, and an even intense hook-up. You will never forget that, nor will you be able to compare it to anything else you've had before. That night with Jaehyun was so good that it almost felt illegal; like a vice that will get you addicted to it if you're not careful.
You tossed your phone across the bed, taking deep breaths to calm your raging hormones. You would never admit to anyone, even to yourself, that part of the reason you stopped going on night outs was because of Jaehyun. Everything about him has been imprinted in your mind that nothing about your nightlife satisfied you anymore, especially not the guys who tried to humor you.
"Fuck my life," you mumbled to yourself, dreading Monday as much as you're looking forward to it. Jaehyun will be there. That idea made you feel giddy and nervous at the same time and you hate feeling overwhelmed, especially about a guy.
Monday rolled in like clockwork and you imagined yourself bumping into Jaehyun at the building entrance. Obviously, you didn't, but you did catch him inside the elevator. He gave you a small smile as you stepped into the elevator with a few other employees. You stood right next to him, your shoulders brushing slightly because the lift was packed.
"Good morning," he greeted casually and you tried not to collapse on your knees.
"Good morning, Mr. Jung."
Jaehyun's smile widened. "You act like we don't know each other."
"Pardon me, Mr. Jung," you chimed, smiling sweetly at him. "But I would rather keep things professional in the workplace. So, wherever it is that you remember knowing me from, I'd appreciate it if you don't bring it up at work."
Jaehyun pursed his lips, his brows forming a knot. "I was talking about the way you addressed me just now. You're the only one who calls me that here. Everyone else calls me by name."
You opened your mouth to retort but then closed it again and avoided his gaze. Jaehyun's grin didn't leave his lips until you were out of the elevator. That annoyed you a little, knowing he was amused about you feeling awkward. You sat in front of your computer all day, looking pissed. Jenna chatted with you several times but you just gave her the bare minimum of your attention. By 3pm, your coworkers were chatting randomly among themselves and while most of them found Jaehyun to be the most interesting one in your bunch, you drowned in your own work instead of participating. You feel awkward enough seeing him around, and even more so because you know you want him. You want all of him. But given that your office has a rule against dating coworkers, you can only dream. You wonder if you can take more of this agonizing situation, and you wonder how much his presence would affect your daily office life.
You must be delusional or have high self-esteem because, for the next few days, you were convinced that Jaehyun was as antsy as you were. Several times you caught him staring at you intently, with his forehead creasing and his lips pursed, not even avoiding your gaze like he meant for you to notice him staring. Even around your coworkers, you can see him watching you with those eyes. You're not oblivious to the meaning behind those gazes and you're not ignoring them either. You acknowledged them, every single one. You gave him the same exact look with the same exact intention. Each time you brushed past each other, regardless of how close or far apart you are, he always made sure to graze your arm, or your elbow, or your shoulder; especially your shoulder when you're wearing something that exposes them. Each time your name is mentioned in your small office, his eyes follow the direction of your desk. And your desks just have to be positioned right across each other's. Far apart, but face to face.
You know he wasn't being discreet and you hoped he would because sooner or later, people will start to notice how he paid attention to you. You can tell by the way your colleagues would randomly tug him because he was in a daze staring at you, and the way someone would always clear their throat to prompt him.
One night, during overtime, when you had to cram some paperwork for the monthly audit, you were alone in the pantry making coffee for yourself when Jaehyun walked in. You held your breath for a moment, giving him a nervous smile before reverting your attention to the coffee machine.
"Evening," he greeted, his voice deep and throaty, damn attractive.
"Evening," you greeted back, watching him reach for a mug from the cupboard. He stood there with you, waiting for the brewing coffee, but your senses were on high alert because of the proximity. Your shoulders were almost touching and his hand on the counter sat close to yours.
"Seeing any light at the end of this tunnel?" he asked, referring to the loads of work everyone had piled up.
"The only light I'm seeing is daylight. We'll be here until the morning," you huffed, sagging your shoulders as you glanced down your wristwatch. It's 11pm but you eventually stopped caring about the time when you saw his pinky finger linking with yours.
"Well, if you need a hand, just let me know."
Your eyes were fixated on your linked fingers but you still replied. "I'm sure you have plenty on your plate as it is."
"How about you try not to decline someone's good intentions," he chimed, letting go of your finger to properly place his hand over yours. "Especially if it's mine?"
"I don't think you mean good intentions, Jaehyun," you purred, challenging his bluff. His lips lifted into a smile, revealing a set of dimples that would have looked cute if only he wasn't staring at you like he was ready to devour you at any moment.
"As long as we're on the same page, I don't care how you label my intentions."
You stared at each other for a while, conversing with your eyes and seemingly coming to an agreement. Your self-restraint had always been thin, but right now it's at its thinnest and your rationality is working hard to remind you that you're in the office and anyone can walk in on you anytime.
The coffee machine beeps, signaling that the coffee is ready. You drew your hand from under his hold and were about to grab the kettle when Jaehyun yanked your hand back and pulled you into his arms, locking you there.
"Jaehyun!" you scolded in a hushed voice. He lets you go after a soft whisper in your ear that had his lips brushing on the sensitive skin. The pantry door opens and you jolted a little in surprise. Jenna lets out a big huff.
"If I die today, know that I loved working with all of you," she said dramatically.
Jaehyun chuckled, grabbing the kettle and pouring himself a coffee. "Hang in there," he comforted Jenna as he poured some on your mug too.
He left after that while you stood rooted on your spot, your mind in shambles because of Jaehyun. Jenna had to shake your shoulder to prompt you.
"Are you okay?"
You flashed a fake smile. "Yeah. Of course."
Jenna gave you a pitiful gaze. "This is killing you too right?"
"Right," you sighed, taking your mug from the countertop. "Let's have some more of this and hope we get through the night."
"Amen," Jenna quaked.
You go back to your desk, but your mind cannot focus on work now. Your heart started beating wildly in your chest the moment you were alone with Jaehyun, and it hasn't stopped since. You tried not to pay him any attention, but he was right across the room so it was impossible. When your eyes met his, he lifted his ID card to show it to you, and that made you look away. You grabbed your headphones and played music to drown your thoughts and hopefully focus on your task. But Jaehyun's melodic voice was still in your head.
'Did you know everyone at the motel knew my name when I stepped out the morning after?'
Fuck him. And fuck motels with crappy soundproofing.
Jaehyun was still smug about you getting flustered by what he said. Now you're thinking he did that to see how much of an effect he has on you. Why bother? He already knows he had you in a chokehold.
"Hey, still swamped?" Tiffany asked sleepily, sinking her chin on your shoulder. You leaned your head on hers and sighed.
"Halfway there, but I'm just finishing up on this one file. I'll work on the rest tomorrow." You were all required to finish work tonight, but after seeing how late it had gotten, your chief eventually told everyone to go home, saying he'd ask the higher-ups for an extension.
"Yeah, it's impossible to finish everything tonight," she grumbled. "Don't stay too long though. No job is worth dying for."
"I know," you sighed, giving her a comforting smile. "See you tomorrow, Tiff."
"See you."
Half of your office is now vacant and the only ones left are you, Carl, and Jaehyun who seemed to be working at a steady pace while still giving you a hard tease. You ignored him altogether, eager to just finish this one paper. But then you caught him yawning from your peripheral view, making you peer over your computer screen to watch. He took off his tie completely and tucked it away before unbuttoning the first two buttons of his shirt. Then he flexed his arms and rubbed his nape, seemingly trying to shake off the drowsiness. The way he closed his eyes and threw his head back while massaging his neck is getting you riled up. You told yourself to look away, but your eyes were fixated on the masculine display before you. It was also at that moment that Carl stood up from his chair with a hand over his belly. His hurried steps caught you and Jaehyun's attention and you watched as he exited the room and slammed the door close behind him.
Jaehyun's eyes fell on you, his expression smug as ever. With a huff, you rose to your feet, tossing your headphones on the desk before you walked straight toward Jaehyun. He seemed taken aback and confused, frozen on his seat when you pushed his swiveling chair and sent it bumping against the wall. A smirk formed on his lips the moment you grabbed his collar.
"Whoa, whoa," he chuckled, even his voice is driving you insane. "What's with the aggression?"
You silenced his cocky attitude with a hurried kiss, straddling his lap while he grabbed your waist and kissed you back. It didn't take long for the making out to elicit an erection from him. When you gave it a grind, Jaehyun pulled back in surprise. The flustered look on his face gave you confidence.
"Why? What happened to the cockiness you've been giving me all day?" you challenged, running your hands through his neatly styled hair. "Don't tell me you're good with just words?"
He grabbed your hands and locked them behind you, hissing as he snapped at you. "Don't tempt me, y/n."
"Like you have been tempting me all day?"
Jaehyun smirked, leaning in to kiss your collarbone. "How long before Carl comes back from taking care of his business?"
"Long enough," you replied, trying to free your wrists from his hold but Jaehyun was infinitely stronger than you were.
"Good. Be quiet," he whispered to your skin, eyeing the CCTV at the far corner of the office. He gently pushed you off his lap before pulling you into the pantry door and shutting the door close.
The rendezvous with Jaehyun might have been a bad idea. It didn't only go against what you personally believed in, it also went against your company's code of conduct. You had expected the next day after to be the most awkward, but contrary to what you initially thought, things weren't that bad at all. You kept everything professional and not in a forced way. Jaehyun was cordial, and so were you. It helps that you were all busy chasing the deadline for the audit too.
"Coffee?" Tiffany asked when she passed by your desk on her way to the pantry. You smiled at her, catching Jaehyun's gaze from his desk.
"No, thanks. I'm good."
Yes, you kept everything professional between the two of you, but you haven't forgotten the events of last night just yet. Eventually, you will have to stop avoiding going to the pantry, but you will surely never look at it the same way again.
What could be worse than dating a coworker? Hooking up with them. The no-strings-attached guarantee of hook-ups may sound like a good thing, but it's not when your hookup is your colleague. AND if you hooked up at the office. The chances of your little rendezvous happening again were high. You knew that and you were right.
Coffee? -jjh
You stared at the note for another second then glanced at Jaehyun's direction. He was already eyeing you, his brows lifting as if seeking a response to his query. You mouthed a 'no' before crumpling the sticky note and tossing it in the trash bin under your desk. Jaehyun just grinned, shrugging as he rose to his feet and headed for the pantry. Your eyes followed him, sighing when he disappeared into the door.
"What's wrong?" Jenna whispered in your ear, startling you because you never noticed how closely she was sitting next to you. She chuckled at your surprised reaction. "Girl, you should really slow down on those espressos."
"Indeed, I should," you agreed, laughing awkwardly before resuming your work.
Hooking up with Jaehyun was a bad idea and you had decided it would never happen again. That was a lie, of course, and it was proven to be when you found yourself making out with him in the copy room; your back leaning on the copier for support while he ravaged your lips and your neck. Several times, you couldn't suppress the moans that escaped your lips and several times, Jaehyun had to laughingly remind you to be quiet. On another occasion, he pulls you into the fire exit to make out, where he also had you weak on the knees all day just by going down on you for a good five minutes. The pantry would also be a venue for more than just that one time Carl had a bad stomach. Notes passing became a habit too.
Soon, you and Jaehyun had sullied the secret spaces on your office floor. You've memorized the areas where people never usually went to, the blind spots behind cameras, and the dark corners around. Overtimes became more frequent for you, with most of it being spent with Jaehyun between your legs or yourself bent over the pantry table or the copy machine. Surely, you gotta stop doing this at one point. But at which point exactly? Neither of you ever discussed that. You're not in a kind of relationship where you have to talk about this stuff anyway. As a matter of fact, you never even talk about the hookups. You just find the opportunity at random and then you both grab it each time it appears. That's how it has been for the past few months, and it doesn't look like things might change anytime soon. Or so you thought.
"You look gorgeous!" Tiffany praised, the moment you met her in front of the elevator. "Is that a new dress? Did you go shopping by yourself?"
"Thanks, but this isn't new or anything. I've had this for a while now. Barely wore it though," you replied, looking down at the dress you took your time to pick out this morning.
"Well, you need to wear it more often. You look great in it," Tiffany affirmed so you thanked her again.
At the office, Jenna uttered praises about your outfit too, throwing in a nice comment about how your hair was styled. You haven't really noticed it but these days, you've been paying more attention to your appearance. Not that you never cared before, but lately, you've taken an extra hour from your daily routine and dedicated it to looking great every day at work. Now that you're being praised for it, you had to admit to yourself that the reason for this might have been Jaehyun.
"Are you seeing someone?" Jenna asked while you were having lunch at the pantry. Your eyes briefly met Jaehyun's, who looked at you like he too wanted to know your answer.
"No. That's so random. Why'd you ask?" you chuckled, shaking your head and poking your food with the fork.
"I just had a feeling that you might be seeing someone. You look great these days," Jenna chimed.
"Agreed. You're literally glowing, y/n."
You shrugged, feeling shy because of the attention being focused on you. "I'm just feeling great these days. You know, skincare, working out, good sleep and stuff."
"And stuff?" Tiffany repeated, grinning playfully. "Is it the good stuff?"
Jenna snickered. "Must have been some satisfying stuff."
You chided them sternly, shaking your head at their teasing as you reluctantly glanced at Jaehyun. His head was bowed down as he was looking at his food, eating quietly but the grin on his lips made you kick his feet under the table. Carl jolted next to Jaehyun, whimpering as he reached down his leg.
"Ow, y/n. What was that?"
"Oh, god, I'm sorry," you blurted and gave him an apologetic smile. "Something brushed my feet. I thought it was a rat or something."
The rest of the day went with Jaehyun still giving you a teasing grin. You just rolled your eyes at him each time and refused to deal with it. In the afternoon when you were about to clock out, he pulled you into the fire escape, giving you a quick kiss.
"Stop. I have no time for this," you chided, hitting his chest. Jaehyun just smirked and you saw that as him challenging you. "I'm serious. I have plans and I'm gonna be late."
Jaehyun tutted and then sighed. "That's too bad. I was gonna ask if you'd like to have dinner with me."
"Dinner with you?" you repeated. You heard him clearly, you just weren't expecting that to come out of his mouth. "Just the two of us?"
Jaehyun looked around. "Let's see. There's you, me, and no one else around. Yeah, that means it's gonna be just the two of us."
You scoffed. "Stop playing around. I'm busy."
You were about to leave when he grabbed your wrist and pulled you back to his chest. He then pressed soft kisses on your neck. "How about tomorrow?"
"I don't know. I'll check my calendar," you quipped, rolling your eyes. "I'm a busy woman."
"Come on, I'll pick you up," Jaehyun chuckled, giving you a chaste kiss on the lips before tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear. Somehow, his actions and the way he's looking at you felt affectionate, making your heart race. "Assuming you don't want to leave the office together. But if you're okay with that, we can just go right after clocking out."
"Why would you want to have dinner together?"
Jaehyun looked at you like you just asked him the stupidest question he's ever heard. "Why not? Is it not allowed?"
"No," you replied but then shook your head. "I mean, it's not that it isn't allowed. It's just... weird."
"Weird? The good stuff is fine, but dinner is weird?"
"Good stuff?" you hollered, hitting his chest as you felt your cheeks flare with embarrassment. "What good stuff are you talking about?"
"That's what you girls called it," Jaehyun laughed, trapping your hands so you'd stop hitting him. "Alright, I'm sorry. That was ungentlemanly of me."
"You're far from being a gentleman, Jung Jaehyun."
"Okay, I know why you think that way. So, maybe you'd be curious to see me be the gentleman that I am and have dinner with me. Tomorrow, after work."
You rolled your eyes and sighed in defeat. "Fine. I'll think about it."
"Great," he lilted, fishing his phone from his pocket and handing it to you. "This is the part where I ask for your number. Though, I know I should have done that a long time ago."
You scoffed as you took his phone and dialed your own number. After that, he kissed you again and you ended up making out for a few more minutes before you hurriedly stepped out of the door back into the building. You didn't expect to see Jenna when you pushed through the door. Her bright smile was a contrast to your surprised expression.
"Oh, hi! Are you leaving now? Should we go together?"
You were just about to respond when Jaehyun stepped out of the door behind you. Jenna stood there confusedly, eyes moving from him to you and him and back to you again. You grabbed her arm and led her away with a burst of awkward laughter.
"Yes. We should leave together," you blurted, dragging her away. "I was actually on my way to see my mom. Would you like to come with me?"
Jenna's face lit up. "I'd love to! I haven't seen her in ages!"
"Good. She'll be glad to see you too."
Dinner with Jaehyun? This year is really full of surprises for you. Jaehyun went from being a man you thought you'd never see again to picking you up at your apartment on time for a dinner date. This was impossible a few months ago, but now there he is, standing by his car in a nice suit and neatly styled hair as he waits for you to come down.
"There you are," he chimed, greeting you with a sweet smile and a peck on your cheek. You kissed him back, thanking him after he opened the car door for you.
"So, where are you taking me?" you asked as he occupied the driver's seat.
Jaehyun chuckled, probably because of the way you phrased your question. "Where am I taking you? You make this whole thing sound so insincere."
You just shrugged, not denying his observation. "Sorry, just not used to this at all."
"I don't blame you," he replied, shaking his head. "The way we got into this relationship is unconventional."
Relationship? You hummed. Well, whatever this is that you have with him, it is considered a relationship, just not the roses and dinner dates kind. Still, here you are, pulling up in front of a nice restaurant. Jaehyun was attentive to you, opening doors and pulling chairs out. You know better than to assume he was an actual gentleman. His telling you he'll show you how much of a gentleman he was has kinda ruined it for you. Whatever this dinner was for, you decided not to overthink it anymore and just enjoy the night.
"To be fair, I was hoping not to see you again after that," you told him over steak and wine. You were talking about random things when the first time you met him was casually brought up. "I don't really like being nice and friendly with one-night stands the morning after."
"Is that so?" he questioned, brows furrowed but he had an amused smile on his lips. "I thought we had something going on."
You scoffed. "Something going on? Jaehyun, come on. You're not expecting to form some kind of connection with a girl you met at a nightclub. Well, except maybe the physical kind."
Your statement had Jaehyun throwing his head back as he laughed. "God, y/n, you have no idea how adorable you are."
Your cheeks flared at the compliment, but you chose to act aloof and just roll your eyes. "Now, you're just simping."
"Wait, what happened to the witty flirt who swept me entirely off my feet that one night at the club?" he asked so you shrugged.
"That time and right now are different. I was trying to flirt with someone then, now I'm just enjoying dinner with a coworker."
"A coworker?" Jaehyun's smile turned mischievous, dropping his fork gently on his plate so he could use his hand to wipe the corner of your mouth with a napkin. "Just a coworker?"
A coworker you have occasional quickies with. "Don't flatter yourself, Jaehyun."
"How can I not? Having a date as gorgeous as you are is very flattering indeed."
This time, it was your turn to let out an amused laugh. "It's amazing how well you use words to charm people. Is that a skill?"
"It might be but I'm not too confident in that aspect. I'd say I'm more well-versed in other uses for the mouth."
You choked on the wine and did so violently that you had a hard time breathing. Jaehyun was quick to offer you a glass of water, but mischief never left his lips. You glared at him because of that. "Whatever happened to being a gentleman?"
Jaehyun just wiggled his eyebrows, laughing after you rolled your eyes at him. Fortunately, he dropped the teasing and you were able to eat in peace. A huge part of you expected the night to extend until after dinner. You imagined all sorts of scenarios, all of them leading up to you and Jaehyun alone in an actual bedroom this time. It could be his place, or yours, maybe a hotel room. And as you were making out with him in the car right in front of your apartment, you pictured both of you naked on your bed and your mind went as far as waking up in the morning with him beside you.
So when he bade you a reluctant goodbye, and wished you a good night's sleep, you couldn't even hide the disappointment on your face.
"Everything alright?" he asked, noticing your silence as you sat there dumbfounded.
"Yeah," you muttered, still in a daze. Embarrassment soon crept up on you, making you look away and reach for the car door. "Good night, Jaehyun."
"You're not gonna invite me in?"
The way your head immediately turned to him and your face lit up was embarrassing, but your body was aching to be one with his so you ignored the shame. "Would you like me to?"
"I was waiting for it," he chimed, gently pulling you by the neck to kiss you again. When he broke away, he looked apologetic. "But we have work tomorrow and it's getting late."
"You're right," you chuckled nervously. "Duh."
Jaehyun smiled contently, giving you one last peck on the lips before letting you go. "See you tomorrow?"
You flattened your lips together, eyeing him curiously as you asked, "You know we can't date in the office, right?"
"Of course. It's a workplace. Not a dating spot," he chuckled and you sighed exasperatedly.
"No, I meant we can't date coworkers. It's a rule in the company."
Jaehyun looked like he was hearing about this for the first time. "That's a thing?"
"Oh, you didn't know?" you chuckled. "That's fine. It's not like we're dating or anything, right?"
"We're not?"
You groaned in frustration. "Okay, you know what? We're not having this conversation. I'm gonna go."
Jaehyun didn't stop you from exiting the car, but he bade you goodnight before you stepped into your apartment building. The dinner was pleasant but not that you were alone, you realized what a disaster it had been. Thoughts flooded your mind, all of them about Jaehyun; his dinner invitation, his intentions, the subtle implications in his statements, and what's going on in his mind. You thought maybe he was just teasing with his subtle hints. Surely he can't be serious about it, right? He's a grown man who knows how to properly communicate. If he wants more than what you already have right now, he can tell you directly without the mixed signals.
Then again, what if you're both just adults with communication issues? Admittedly, you too have no idea what you want out of this setup. Sure, you enjoy the thrill of it but one way or another, one of you has to be responsible enough to put an end to this.
That being said, you found yourself finding the right opportunity to bring it up with Jaehyun. Unfortunately, work kept both of you busy for the following days after your first date. So much that he can't even find the slightest opportunity for a quick rendezvous around the office. Other than work-related subjects, quick greetings, and fleeting glances, you have yet to speak a proper conversation with Jaehyun.
"Hi," Jaehyun greeted as he rounded the long conference room table. "You're here early."
You panicked on your feet, standing up in surprise at his sudden appearance. Doing so, your hand that was sitting on your lap hit the edge of the table so hard that you thought a bone was broken. Groaning in pain, you clenched your fist in hopes that it might alleviate the pain. Jaehyun rushed over to you, gently taking your hand in his to examine it.
"Why are you so clumsy?" he chided softly, blowing on the reddened skin. "Does it hurt?"
"No," you replied. It did hurt a while ago, but now that you were moving it, the pain has gone and you were relieved to know you didn't actually break a bone. More importantly, you are currently exhilarated because this is the closest you've gotten to Jaehyun in the past few days. The whiff of his perfume was faint, but it was enough to make you feel euphoric.
Jaehyun eyed you curiously, his forehead creasing with concern. "Are you sure? Does it hurt if I do this?" With gentle hands, he pressed on the reddened spot.
"Jaehyun, should we stop this?" you asked directly, and the astonishment on his face was evident.
"Stop this? This?" he asked back, motioning for your hand. You sighed, flattening your lips tightly together. Jaehyun's face darkened. "Oh, you don't mean that, do you?"
You pulled your hand back, shoulders sagging in frustration. "See, this is the problem with us. We talk in codes instead of communicating like grown adults."
He opened his mouth to speak, but the door opened before he could say something. Your co-workers walked in, chattering like busy bees. While that was happening, Jaehyun was moving back to his seat. The meeting began after quick greetings and work dragged you away from a proper conversation once again.
"GUESS WHAT?!" Tiffany exclaimed when she found you and Tiffany in the pantry. Her eyes gleamed with excitement and she was jittering like she'd explode if you didn't respond to her immediately.
Jenna was the one who asked, "What?"
"There's a secret couple in our company!" Tiffany said briskly, in a single breath. Your ears rang warning bells. "And it's from our floor."
"From which department?" Jenna asked.
"No one knows yet, but apparently, Olive from Marketing saw two people making out in the fire escape."
At this point, you were sweating bullets despite the cool office. You wanted to remove yourself from the conversation but there was no excuse to leave. And to be honest, part of you wanted to know what people were saying about this.
"Oh my god, who?" Jenna was completely invested, it seems.
"They could either be from the same department or separate. But what if they're from ours?" Tiffany squealed.
Jenna appeared to think. "That's a possibility but who could it be? It's not like we know two people who are weirdly close to each other. Ones who act all sneaky and jumpy from time to time. And also keeps sneaking glances at someone from across the room."
You were stirring your coffee slowly, quietly listening without looking at them. But then you noticed they'd stopped talking so you glanced at them only to realize that they had been staring at you.
"Why? What's up?" you asked dumbly, still a little jittery.
"Well, would you look at that? It seems we do know someone," Jenna grinned knowingly and you could feel the color draining from your face. You and Jenna eyed each other, her looking like a predator who just found her prey, and you feeling smaller and smaller. You knew that she now knows. Feeling caught, you gulped the entirety of your coffee and belched.
"Sorry. I'm gonna go," you told them.
Jenna snickered. "Oh, okay. I'm gonna follow you then."
"Wait! Hey! Who is it?" Tiffany called out, following the two of you out of the pantry. "Girls! What do you know?"
Fuck the universe, you told yourself. The moment you left the pantry, your eyes caught Jaehyun who just entered the office. He did a double-take upon seeing you, stopping in his tracks and walking toward you. Jenna nudged your elbow a little too obviously, so you nudged her back.
"Hi," he began, smiling at the girls and then back at you. "Carl passed me on to you. He said you were in charge of this before so I should come to you for help."
You peered at the file he was handing to you and then turned to Tiffany. "Yeah, I did. But Tiffany worked on this after the previous analyst resigned. I just helped a little."
"Oh? Which file is it?" Tiffany questioned, also looking at the papers. "Yes, I can help, but y/n did the work on this entire project. It was already perfect so I didn't change anything on it and just submitted it as it is."
"You didn't?" you asked Tiffany who shook her head in response.
"Great. Will you help me update it then?"
"Oh, she'll help you just fine," Jenna giggled, nudging you forward. "She's really good at her job. Just don't go sneaking around."
"Jenna!" you chided but your friend just laughed, grabbed Tiffany by the arm, and walked away with a wave.
You groaned in frustration, snatching the file from Jaehyun's hand and mumbling to yourself. Jaehyun inched closer.
"Everything alright?"
"Jenna knows we hooked up."
"Jenna?" Jaehyun repeated, taken aback by your confession. He looked at Jenna who was still walking away with Tiffany. "She did seem like the type to catch on quickly."
"She's sharp when she needs to be," you replied, also glancing at your girl friends. "But she's not the most observant in our office. If she noticed something was going on with us, others will soon realize it too."
"Are you free tonight?"
You glared at him. "Did you even listen to a word I said?"
Jaehyun shrugged, tucking his hands in his pockets. "We can talk about it over dinner if you're down. It's on me."
You rolled your eyes in disbelief, then turned on your heel to leave. He calls out your name so you waved your hand in the air. "Fine. Whatever. Just go away for now."
Jaehyun was grinning fondly, but he heeded your request and walked the opposite way.
Dinner was quiet. Jaehyun kept chatting you up, and he had to keep prompting you because you kept drifting away into an absentminded daze. It's not that you didn't want to listen, you just had something in your mind that's making you dissociate with your company.
"Y/n," he prompted again, now looking concerned.
"Sorry. You were saying?"
Jaehyun exhaled calmly. "Nothing important. Would you like me to drive you home and call it a day?"
"What? No, I..." you paused, sighed in defeat, and then massaged your temples impatiently. "I'm sorry."
"It's alright," he replied, smiling sweetly. He reached for your hand on the table and squeezed it. "Just let me know if I can help."
You shrugged. "I'm just really tired right now."
"I know. Work hasn't been the easiest for all of us."
"Right," you chimed, looking down at your food that you barely touched. "Actually... I really think we should stop this."
Once again, Jaehyun's handsome face darkened with concern. "Is there a specific reason why you keep saying that?"
"Nothing!" you blurted. "I mean, yes! Of course, there is! We can't keep doing this as coworkers. People from work are soon gonna notice."
Jaehyun shrugged. "What's wrong with dating a coworker?"
You laughed derisively. "Aside from the fact that it's a spoken rule to not date a coworker, we are also not dating. I thought we both knew that?"
"We're not?"
"You see that?" you told him, stern and annoyed. "That's our problem. Despite being so intelligent and charming, you always played dumb whenever I bring this up."
Jaehyun exhaled sharply, letting go of your hand and straightening his back. "It's a serious question, y/n. I am actually under the impression that we're already dating."
"Having sex occasionally does not mean we're already dating, Mr. Jung Jaehyun."
"Then at what point do we start dating?"
At this point, you were fuming because of frustration. You couldn't tell if he was pretending to be dumb or if he was actually clueless. Although, the look on his face told you he was genuinely curious about the answer to his question.
"Come on, Jae. You've dated before, I'm sure you know this isn't how it goes."
"Indeed I have but..." he paused, looking away with a creased forehead. "I never had to spell it out to them."
Oh, to be Jung Jaehyun, charming and gorgeous enough to pull any girl he wants. He probably never had to chase after someone he liked. They all probably fell head over heels for him immediately. Like you did.
"Do you like me then?" you asked straightforwardly. If you were to be asked the same question, you would say 'yes' in a heartbeat. That's because you do like him, a lot actually. You don't have deep feelings for him yet, but you feel a romantic spark with him that could lead to something.
"I won't sleep with someone I don't like, y/n."
"It's a yes or no question."
"Yes!" he pressed on, laughing at you like you should've already known the answer. "What do you think?"
You sighed, slowly processing the situation before you. "Won't you ask me if I liked you at all?"
"No," he replied curtly, poking his food with the fork.
His answer made you scoff loudly. "What if I tell you I don't like you?"
A grin formed on his lips as he looked up to meet your gaze. "Then I'd call you a liar. You like me, y/n. I know."
"You're awfully confident," you bluffed, crossing your arms over your chest to challenge him. "Where is that coming from?"
Jaehyun smiled cockily, leaning back on his chair with an air of confidence. "It comes from the way you held on to me tightly whenever you're in my arms."
Your jaw dropped open. Embarrassed, you covered your mouth and looked away. Jaehyun didn't stop.
"The way you trusted me enough to keep doing what we've been doing these past few months. Even the way you look at me from across the room. My confidence comes from those."
You took a deep breath and faced him again. "Okay. You can shut up now."
"That's why I thought we were already dating, y/n," he continued. "I thought we liked each other enough to call this dating. I was just beginning to treat you the way a girlfriend should be treated but work is keeping both of us apart."
You were quiet because you didn't have anything to say, so you just let him talk. Like always, he is composed, confident, and well-articulate. Had he explicitly asked to date you, you would've said 'yes'. Then again, your relationship didn't start in a meet-cute kind of way. It didn't blossom beautifully like cherry blossoms in spring. So he had a point. To be honest, you had no idea how it was supposed to go given the situation. But you would still have preferred if you two just talked about it like proper adults.
"Should I just quit?"
"What?" you asked, not because you didn't understand him but because the question was downright ridiculous. "Why would you quit?"
Jaehyun pouted. "Because I want to be a proper boyfriend."
Boyfriend. Did he actually just say that? And is that an ecstatic giddiness you're feeling?
"You're way in over your head, Jae," you ridiculed, successfully hiding your elation behind aloofness. "You're not my boyfriend."
"Alright, then, how do I become one?"
Just ask, you thought. You didn't want to have to spell it out for him. If you did, you would think he was only asking because you told him to. "How do you not know?"
"If I ask you now, would you say 'yes'?"
"You'll never know unless you try."
Jaehyun straightened up in his seat, reaching for your hand again as he gazed into your eyes. You stared back, letting his deep, dark brown eyes lure you into a beautiful abyss--the kind that's impossible to escape once you fall into it.
"Be my girlfriend, y/n."
You blinked. "Oh, that's not exactly asking."
"No, it's not. That was me making it official with you." Jaehyun's self-esteem is impressively baffling. It almost feels like he's got you wrapped up in his finger. In fact, it feels like he knew exactly that things would go his way, no matter what. He knew what he wanted, and he also knew you wanted the same thing, it seems.
Nevertheless, a voice in your head is screaming a protest. He's a coworker. Indeed, he is. The sex may be phenomenal, but he's still a coworker.
You could abandon your beliefs and take a leap. Jaehyun could be worth the risk of breaking office rules. Not to mention you've already broken said rules anyway, even making a sacrilege of your workplace. Though secretly, it was still scandalous. You never knew you'd be the type to engage in something so risky. It didn't even need any convincing, you straight up just did what was done. You gotta admit though, you liked every second of it; the risk, the thrill, not to mention Jaehyun in his entirety.
Your eyes flitted over to him. His sweet smile will make people assume he's a gentleman, which might be true if you didn't know what he was capable of doing in a hidden but still public space. You remembered the first time you had sex in the pantry; it was quick, almost fleeting. But it was unforgettable and you were absolutely satisfied, so you kept doing it. His aggressive thrusts, hand tight over your mouth to keep you from making any noise, the urgency on his face, and the release that comes crashing through. The image that registered in your head made you squeeze your thighs.
Jaehyun tapped twice on the back of your hand. That was when you realized your mind had wandered elsewhere and was dazed. "What's on your mind, babe?"
Babe? "You."
He didn't even flinch, nor was he taken aback. He just tilted his head a little, and asked, "And why is that when I'm right here in front of you?"
You stared at his lips, craving their warmth and the way they felt on your lips, on your neck, and on the skin of your inner thighs. Your breath hitched and a moan almost escaped your lips because of the vivid memory. You looked away from him and started fanning your face, worried your lewd thoughts were showing.
"Do you want to get out of here?" you breathed, meeting his eyes again. Jaehyun shook his head, moving his glass so the red wine would swirl.
"Don't ask, baby. You know I'd do anything for you."
"Should we just go, then?"
Jaehyun licked his lips, savoring the rich wine. "That's still asking. Assert yourself, babe."
You stood up at once, grabbing his hand on the table and dragging him up. Jaehyun almost choked on the wine he was still drinking, but he quickly put it down and tossed the napkin on the table. You weren't paying him any attention, eager to just leave the restaurant as soon as possible. When you reached the sidewalk, you stopped and looked around.
"I must say, that's one way of asserting yourself," Jaehyun quipped but you ignored his comment and pointed to a certain building around the block.
"Let's go that way," you ordered, and wasted no time discussing plans.
Jaehyun was more than happy to oblige. When you reached the hotel, he was the one who checked you in using his name and his card. You'd barely gotten inside your suite before Jaehyun had you up against the wall, his lips crashing into yours urgently while his arms held you strongly.
You kissed hungrily like you'd been starved for days, which was true because you hadn't had any alone time with Jaehyun for a while now. You ran your hand up his muscly arms to his broad shoulders. Jaehyun reached over to your ass and lifted you off your feet while you wrapped your legs around his waist.
"Take me to bed," you breathed, almost in a whisper. "Please?"
"Anything you want, baby," he grinned, biting his lip as he strode over to the king-sized bed. He laid you down gently, caressing your cheek and letting his hand wander from your face to your clothed breasts. He cupped it and gently squeezed it, and his eyes never left yours even for a second. You pushed yourself up to kiss him and as you did, your dress slipped off of your skin. Jaehyun reached for your back, then you found your bra leaving your body the same way your dress did. When his fingers found your nipple and gave it a good squeeze, you let out a moan that made his face twitch. "God, you're so beautiful."
His mouth went to where his fingers had been, sucking, pulling, and teasing at the sensitive bud. Each contact electrified you to the core. His hands are everywhere at once until they find the cloth of your lace underwear. "Can I do--"
"Jaehyun! Less talking, more doing," you interjected, your voice urgent and your tone pleading. "Please."
He chuckled a little. "So polite."
You wriggled out of your panties as he undressed, seemingly taking his time to stall you on purpose. You hated the smug look on his face because you knew he was taunting you. He knew exactly that you were desperate for him, and that you'd beg if he pushed you hard enough.
Jaehyun hovered over you, staring at you intently with lustful eyes and a cocky grin. You tried not to fall for it, but you needed him so you folded.
"Jung Jaehyun, I swear to god if you keep this up, I'm walking out that door," you threatened, You would never do that, but you'd like to see if it would have any effect on him.
Jaehyun inched closer to your face, planting a tender kiss on your lips before moving his head all the way down between your thighs. Without warning, he started lapping on your cunt, squeezing your thighs in the process. You didn't even try to muffle your moans, instead, you screamed them out. Your stomach was doing somersaults and your head was flying on cloud nine. Just as you were about to feel the release coming, Jaehyun stood on his knees and looked down at your confused expression. He flashed a grin that made your belly flutter. There he was, hovering over you with a body that looked like he was some Greek god sculpture, except that his size was nowhere near that of any Greek sculpture.
You stretched up your arms and Jaehyun fell into them. He kissed you again, needily. And when he thrust himself into you, you cried out in sweet surrender; rocking against his hips, kissing his shoulder, his neck, his chin, and then his lips like you'd die if you didn't. The release hit you like a waterbomb, making you dig your nails into Jaehyun's skin. And then he too cried out of release before he collapsed on top of you, panting.
When you awoke, Jaehyun was still beside, you playing with your hair as he watched your eyes fluttering. You blinked several times, trying to make sense of what was happening. The civility of it all, the fog of affection in the air, his sweet smile, and the warm glow of admiration in his eyes.
"That was an excellent dinner," he quipped, making you smile. "How about some dessert?"
You scoffed then hit his chest. But Jaehyun just gave you a good-natured laugh before gently flicking your forehead.
"I meant real dessert," he scolded softly, motioning to the table across the room. There sat a course of desserts and fruits, as well as a champagne bottle in a bucket of ice.
"Oh," you blurted.
"I'll give you the other dessert later," he added so you glared at him again. Jaehyun was quick on his feet, jumping down the bed and running towards the table before you could even try to hit him. You couldn't help laughing at the unexpectedly goofy display. You weren't discouraged though, if anything, you liked him more because he was adorable.
You sat on the bed and noticed you were wearing a nightgown. You recalled falling asleep after the sex and had faint recollections of Jaehyun telling you to raise your hands so he could dress you up. You thought that had been a dream but looking at the silky dress on your body, you now realize it wasn't.
Delectable food waited for you on the table. Despite being apprehensive about it at first, you gobbled the good food. Over conversations, you also emptied the bottle of champagne and that had you pawing at each other for a while before you both ended up back on the bed, moaning under the sheets.
You spent the weekend in that hotel room; chatting, eating, and goofing around. The fact that you're not shoving your tongue down his throat every hour was surprising. But then you realized that you've learned more about each other in two days of being alone together than you did the past six months.
You strutted into the office with a beautiful glow at work on an early Monday morning. Your steps were light and you were humming happily as you sat in your cubicle. Jenna was quick to notice your ecstatic demeanor.
"Did something good happen this weekend?"
A smile crept on your lips. "No. It wasn't good. It was amazing."
Jenna mirrored your grin, pushing her chair closer to yours. "Why? What was it? Did you and Jaehyun go on a date?"
"How did you-" you stopped, sighed, and rolled your eyes. "What do you mean?"
She nudged your shoulder. "Oh, so you did. Is that why he was in a hotel all weekend?"
Your eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know that?"
Jenna covered her lips, looking like she had been caught. "Ah, that slipped out. Excuse me."
Her chair slid back to her desk to escape you. Intrigued about how she knew about the hotel, you followed her to ask but before you could speak, your department head tapped on your desk and asked you to see him in the meeting room.
"We'll talk later," you told Jenna before following your superior.
Jaehyun entered the office just as you were passing by the doorway on your way to the meeting room. He flashed you a sweet smile which made you giddy. You smiled back before disappearing into the meeting room. That was the beginning of your hidden relationship. It was so much different from your sexual rendezvous, this was more exciting. The secret glances, mouthing endearments when no one is looking, brushing hands or shoulders on purpose, and the contentment of being close to each other when you happened to gather together with your other coworkers. Each day, you leave the office separately only to end up in each other's embrace at night. In the morning, you arrive to work separately too, eagerly waiting for the day to be over so you'd be together again. It was fun and exciting, so much so that you felt like a giddy teenager experiencing your first relationship ever.
"I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this," Jaehyun complained, nuzzling his nose on the crook of your neck. He kissed your skin and inhaled your scent. "I miss you."
"You miss me? We see each other every day," you chided softly, turning so you were face to face with him. You snaked your arms around his neck and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips. Other than the pantry, this file room has also become your secret meeting place. "We practically live together since you're always at my place."
Jaehyun exhaled sharply, unconvinced. "That's not enough."
You tapped his chest twice, pulling away from him. "We're not kids, Jaehyun. Let's make do with what we get."
Jaehyun sighed, leaning on the shelves and then crossing his arm over his chest. "We can get more than this, you know?"
"How do you suggest we do that?" you questioned curiously. You're not convinced that his idea will be a good one but you wanted to hear what he had to say.
"I could try talking to the HR about the ban."
You scoffed. "That's your big idea?"
Jaehyun just shrugged. "Not really. It's part of the idea. Would you like to meet my parents?"
Your brows are tied in a knot. "Out of nowhere?"
"Yeah. I told them I am dating this intelligent, charming, and lovely woman. They can't wait to meet you."
Well, that was sudden. Despite your previous physical relationship, you haven't been official for long but he's already talking about meeting his parents. Jaehyun had to leave before you could give him an answer because a coworker walked into the file room. You seemed unnerved about the invitation but you were actually ruminating on it all day, weighing the pros and cons of this meeting.
That night, Jaehyun couldn't go to your place because of a prior engagement. But when he called you right before going to sleep, you told him you'd love to meet his parents. There should be no pressure, it's just a brunch. You told yourself to relax and not overthink it.
And so the weekend came. Jaehyun looked majestic in his Prada cardigan, leaning on his car as he waited for you in the parking lot of your apartment. He greeted you with a sweet smile and an even sweeter kiss, followed by a compliment on your hair and your outfit.
"You smell nice too, damn," he added, smelling your neck and tightening his hug. You just giggled, letting him sniff you all he wanted. It was all cute and adorable until he was pulling you by the waist and pressing his crotch on you. "Should we just stay in?"
You laughed heartily. "Let's go, Jaehyun."
"Call me 'baby' and I'll listen to you."
"Baby," you obliged but your tone was stern instead of endearing.
Jaehyun threw his head back, groaning. "God, that backfired. We really should just stay in."
You pushed him aside, opened the car door, and then locked yourself in his shotgun. Jaehyun was grinning when he rounded the car to sit in the driver's seat. He wasn't done flirting with you though because as soon as he was inside, he pulled you into a kiss--long, sweet, passionate. Oh, how he made you feel so beautiful.
He drove halfway across the city, locking your hands together and singing along to the song on his stereo. When you finally reached your destination, you were in awe of the luxurious home before you. You had an inkling that Jaehyun might have been rich but not this rich. His family house is hidden behind a high fence, probably ten feet high, and inside was a literal mansion surrounded by well-kept landscaping. If you're gonna be honest, the display of wealth made you nervous.
"Intimidating, isn't it?" said the familiar voice of a woman. When you spun to see who it was, your jaw dropped upon seeing Jenna walking towards you and Jaehyun. She grinned at your shocked expression. "It's scarier inside."
"Jen," Jaehyun chided. "Don't scare her."
"Jenna?" you exclaimed. Your friend flashed a silly grin.
"I knew something was going on between you two."
You shook your hands to dismiss her. "Wait, before that. What are you doing here?"
Jaehyun interjected. "She lives here."
You did a double-take, checking if you heard it wrong. Jenna let out a hearty laughter. "Sorry, hon. I would've told you but that would ruin the whole point of being undercover."
"Undercover?" you echoed, touching your temples. "Wait, how about explaining it to me like I'm five?"
Jaehyun and Jenna laughed before the latter guided you inside the house. On your way, she explained that she and Jaehyun are siblings. And that the company's CEO was their older brother. It was straight out of a soap opera and Jaehyun assured you that your reaction was understandable. He also apologized for not telling you about it sooner.
"It's fine, I was just... surprised, I guess?" you blurted. You reach the garden area where a group of people are happily chatting at a dining table. Jenna walked ahead of you, tapped an elder woman on the shoulder, and told her you had arrived.
This elder woman was beautiful and had an air of elegance about her. She stood up from her chair to welcome you.
"Hi, Mom," Jaehyun greeted, giving his mom a peck on the cheek. "This is my girlfriend, y/n."
"Hello, y/n. Wow, Jaehyun wasn't lying when he said you were very lovely." His Mom beamed at you, and contrary to what you expected, she was warm and sweet, ushering you to sit next to her at the dining table while asking you about the journey here.
You met his brother, a face you were so intimidated to see because you knew he was the Big Boss of your workplace. He was cordial and well-mannered, and so was his wife. You didn't ask about his father but based on their conversation, you figured out that he had passed away. You knew better than to ask. Brunch hasn't started yet, but you were already gathered in the garden. At first, you thought it would only be you and them, but a group of people arrived and you found out you were meeting Jaehyun's extended family too.
"We're Koreans. Family means so much to us," Jenna told you. "Not all of us are close though."
Brunch began shortly after their cousins arrived. The food was great and the conversations were engaging enough. Most of the attention was on you because apparently, you were the 'first girl he brought home in three years' according to Jaehyun's brother. Jenna confirmed it too. After the satisfying meal of hearty Korean food, you all dispersed to your own little circles. Jenna dragged you to the patio, chatting with you and apologizing for not telling you about her relationship with Jaehyun. You told her it was fine and that you understood why she had to do it. Jaehyun followed closely behind you two.
"So, are you gonna marry my brother?" Jenna asked and the question made your heart race.
"Stop calling me that. It's giving me chills," Jaehyun interjected so Jenna hissed at him.
"Shut up, I'm not talking to you."
You nervously laughed. "We just started dating."
"Yes, so, is he a marriage prospect or not?" Jenna pressed on.
Jaehyun was the one who said, "We haven't talked about that yet."
"Jaehyun, go away," Jenna complained, pushing her brother but he didn't budge. Jaehyun pulled a face at her to which she responded by lunging her tiny frame at his large physique. They bickered for a moment while you watched in fondness.
Then you said, "He's right, we haven't thought that far ahead."
Jaehyun grabbed his sister's wrists to stop her from hitting him, and then he stared at you, looking befuddled. "We haven't?"
You stared back at him, wondering if you had said wrong. "Have we? I know we haven't. Did I forget?"
"No, you didn't," he replied, letting go of Jenna's arms and straightening up. "I mean, we haven't talked about it yet. But I was already thinking that far ahead."
You blinked, surprised by his confession. Jenna snickered and said, "You can't say that so openly, dear brother. You're putting her on the spot."
"I'm putting her on the spot? You're putting her on the spot! You started this discussion!" Jaehyun whined. You couldn't help laughing at the rare sight. He'd always appeared well-mannered, calm, and collected. Seeing him bicker with his sister made him even more endearing.
"Why not? You guys aren't getting any younger. This is an important question to ask!"
While the siblings bickered, your thoughts screamed loud enough that they deafened you from external noises. Marriage was never an issue to you, you can get married anytime you want as long as you want to. But only now were you realizing that you've gotten old and this was in fact an important question to ask.
Still, now is a little too early for it. Truth be told, you don't know if you want to take this relationship to that level yet. Sure, you're in love but with marriage, love is not the only factor that needs to be considered. Jaehyun is from an affluent family with influence and money, you don't know if you want to be a part of it. Even if you did want to be, you're not sure if his family would want you for him. So far, they had been nothing but nice. Then again, it will be no surprise if these families have criteria that you might be too middle-class to comprehend.
"Baby," Jaehyun prompted, nudging your shoulder. "What were you thinking?"
"You," you replied absentmindedly. Jaehyun grinned coyly.
"Really? We're in the middle of a family gathering, but I think can make up a good excuse to leave."
You rolled your eyes at his lascivious thoughts. "No that's not what I meant, dumbass."
Jaehyun chuckled. "That's a shame. I was ready for it. No, actually, I'm always ready for it."
"For what?"
He pressed his nose on the side of your head, sniffing your hair before whispering, "For my naughty little girlfriend who randomly gets these sudden urges to ride me till I'm spent and dripping."
Your face flared at the lewd image that formed in your mind. Holding your cheeks, you walked away from him in embarrassment. Jaehyun laughingly called out to you. "You'll dry me up in no time, baby."
You glanced back at him, scandalized. "Oh my god, be quiet!"
"What?" he mimed, looking around. "No one heard me."
"I did and you're gross," Jenna grimaced before walking away too.
It's been a week since the family luncheon. Aside from the fact that you now know Jenna and Jaehyun are siblings, nothing much has changed in your relationship. You admit that it was weird with Jenna at first, in a way that whenever you have your usual girl talk, you suddenly remember who she was and just daze. It took some getting used to. Same case with Jaehyun who gets ordered around the office for being a newbie and him doing everything he is told to do like he's not the literal son of the company's founder. You realized just how much humility these two have and how impressive it was that they were raised this way instead of the regular snobbish rich kids.
Your boyfriend's identity had you ruminating about the future of your relationship. What would be the reactions you'd get if people found out you were dating a coworker--especially if it's revealed that he was actually the CEO's brother? You'd surely be called a Cinderella, scoring a jackpot by dating a billionaire's son. People might think it's magical, while most will assume you were in it for the money. Either way, the possibility of your life being put under public scrutiny terrifies you.
"GUESS WHAT?" Tiffany barged into the meeting room, startling you and Jenna. You clutched your heart, beating rapidly in its cage while Jenna gave your coworker a stern look.
"You gotta stop with the dramatic entrances, Tiff," said Jenna.
"Jung Jaehyun just got named CHRO."
Jenna scoffed. "Yeah, and Jung Jenna just became COO. Jaehyun would die and get reborn again before he takes an executive role in this company. Shut the door."
Tiffany shook her head as he approached you, pushing the door close as she went. "I'm serious. Check the company page. They just announced it."
You toggled on your tablet and pulled up the company portal. And there it was, the announcement of the company's latest personnel changes. Jung Jaehyun was indeed the Chief Human Resources Officer.
"Why would he take that job?" you questioned, genuinely curious. Jenna told you before that Jaehyun was supposed to come in as a department head since his education and experience made him qualified for the position, but he still chose to do the undercover thing. Now he's suddenly a CHRO?
"No way, he's not!"
"Apparently, he is. And guess what was the first thing he asked to change in the company policy?"
"What?" you and Jenna asked in a chorus. Tiffany ducked to toggle on the screen and opened another announcement.
"He abolished the dating ban among coworkers. Effective immediately."
Your jaw hung open, while Jenna started laughing like a maniac. Then she said, "Jung Jaehyun, that sly little bastard."
"Does that mean he has a girlfriend here?"
Jenna eyed you. "Yeah, he obviously has a girlfriend here."
"Or he could be sympathizing with the people here who want to date but can't because of the ban," you suggested, trying to challenge Jenna.
"Yeah, like you," Jenna teased. You just rolled your eyes, giving up on challenging her. "He must really like this girl to go through this much trouble. I didn't know he could do something admirable."
"No way!" Tiffany exclaimed, eyes still glued to the screen. You and Jenna turned to her. "Jaehyun is the CEO's younger brother?"
Jenna exhaled sharply, rolling her eyes. "Oh, boy. I guess this is where it starts." She walked away, bidding you quick goodbyes before disappearing to the door. You and Tiffany stayed, waiting for the meeting to begin.
The next few days at work were filled with excited chatters and gossip. During the company's annual staff meeting, Jaehyun and Jenna are introduced as family members of the company. Their positions were also made official, sparking up a debate among the employees on whether they deserved their posts or if it was plain nepotism. You didn't join any of these discussions, but when you're alone with Jaehyun, you'd tease him for being a nepo baby and he'd just laugh at it.
"Should we go to work together today?" Jaehyun asked, nuzzling his nose on your neck.
"No," you replied briskly, scoffing as you pulled away from him. Jaehyun, a lot stronger than you were, grabbed your waist and pulled you back to bed with him.
Your apartment has never been this warm. Love emanated from the walls and you've never felt this content with a relationship. Jaehyun seemed to have made this small studio apartment his favorite place to be and you're not complaining at all. He would spend the night here almost every day. You would sleep in each other's arms, and wake up still cuddling.
"I made coffee," Jaehyun would boast in the morning. "And pancakes too but they're not as fluffy as the ones from the breakfast cafe."
"I love the pancakes you make," you would tell him.
And he'd say, "Thanks, I love you too."
He'd ask to drive you to work but you'd decline. It's been three months since he became head of HR, but the people at work are still clueless about your relationship. You liked it that way, but you also feel bad for Jaehyun who would often invite you to lunch or for coffee. It's not that you don't want to, it's mainly because you'd rather not be talked about. Jaehyun seemed to just take it in stride. He'd ask once in a while, and if you declined, he'd give up and try again next time. He's been most understanding of your reasons.
But then again, he's Jung Jaehyun; he will never let up until things go his way. That said, he walked into your office on a Wednesday afternoon, with a massive bouquet of red roses in his hand, and an even bigger smile on his lips. Your colleagues went into a frenzy, hurrying over to greet him and chat with him. Questions were thrown his way; ones like, 'What are you doing here?' or 'Is there anything we can do for you?' and 'Can we help you?' And then there are also comments like, 'I knew you looked familiar! You were the CEO's brother!' or 'You should have told us who you were!' and 'Man, I didn't overwork you, did I?'
Jaehyun was courteous and greeted everyone back, but after he was done with the pleasantries, he locked his eyes on you--his target. He waded through the crowd, his feet walking straight to where you were sitting quietly in your cubicle. You had hoped he would ignore you, or that no one would notice you. But that was impossible since you knew he was there for no other reason except to see you.
"Are those flowers for someone?" one of your colleagues asked and you mentally cursed him for asking because now, everyone's curious who the flowers were for.
"There you are," Jaehyun beamed, peering over the cubicle. You smiled sheepishly, taking a peek at your coworkers' shocked expressions.
"Can I help you, Mr. Jung?" you smiled back, hoping he'd take your cue and stop whatever he was trying to pull.
"No. I'm here to pick you up. We have dinner plans, remember?" he grinned, seemingly enjoying the way you're all flustered and shy. "You look great. Looks like we can go straight to the restaurant without changing."
"You're having dinner? Is it a company dinner?" Carl questioned, his hand raised in the air like an elementary student.
Tiffany was quick to slap his hand away. "Gosh, Carl, you're so clueless."
Jaehyun offered you the flower. "Shall we go then, my love?"
You've never heard a crowd gasp in unison before, but now you have. Cheeks burning in embarrassment, you took the bouquet and pushed yourself up. Jaehyun had a content smile on his lips when he offered to hold your hand, which you accepted.
"Jung Jaehyun, you really are a sly little bastard."
"You love me for it," he chimed.
And so, hand in hand, you and Jaehyun walked out of your office as a couple.

barely delusional megumi, itadori, nanami.
-> tokyo revengers & haikyuu version
megumi fushiguro.
life as megumi is simple. he is simple. his routine never over-complicates itself nor will he allow it to do so. on top of that, he will always be sure to attend every plan he agreed upon â well, all except for one. you see, the prior plan before the plan with itadori and nobara had slipped his mind. it's only when he checked his phone for the time is when he remembered.
the trio planned for an evening-to-night hangout session. first, dinner. dinner is important. second, an arcade session. third, amusement park. a well-thought plan that can finally make its way out of being just a "plan." kind of.
"hey, are we still on for the arcade later?" itadori asks, licking the drips of his popsicle on his forearm.
megumi opens his mouth only to close it back. he takes a popsicle from the bag, busying himself with the snack, he replies, "can't, i promised my girlfriend i'll sleep over tonight."
silence. it's a sudden moment of silence. the kind of silence before something goes south.
one, two, three...
"YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!?"
"YOU PROMISED YOUR WHO?!"
both itadori and nobara voice their astonishment in unison. it's not every day you hear megumi speak about anything bordering romance. megumi, on the other hand, doesn't answer. his full attention is on his popsicle. indeed, he does feel the two pairs of eyes on him but will he respond to their shock? yes, actually.
"i said what i said," he shrugs, not understanding why it's so shocking.
nobara's jaw hangs loose. her popsicle already puddled on the ground. slowly, she regains her mind and forms a sentence, "you â you're not lying, right? is this megumi? FUSHIGURO megumi?"
itadori nods behind her, showing his support for her actions. megumi rolls his eyes, clearly he doesn't like the way they think he's a loser.
"yeah, yeah. when do i ever lie?"
"oh, you're right," defeated, nobara agrees. there's not a single memory in her mind where megumi lied.
itadori yuuji.
he's bent over gasping for his life. a few seconds ago, itadori ran three floors down the school just for a question. it's an important question and they â gojo and utahime â will answer.
"guys, what do you do when you want to buy someone a gift but that someone is your girlfriend but you're not sure if she'll like it butâ"
gojo drops his self-made paper plane, turns his head to the boy and begins, "pause right there yuuji. repeat that again."
slightly confused, itadori repeats himself from the beginning, "what do you do when youâ"
yet again, gojo cuts him off, "NOT that part. the one after."
confused, he repeats again, "but that someone is your girlfriend butâ"
gojo claps his hands together, sitting up straight and pointing a finger directly at itadori. "THERE â THAT PART."
utahime rubs her forehead, trying to calm down an incoming headache at the elder's childish behaviour. she sighs loudly, shooting a glare at gojo before turning to itadori with a small smile. "what gift do you have in mind?"
itadori, not remembering the gifts he had in mind, starts counting on his fingers. he knows he thought of roughly five gifts, but the question is what were the five gifts.
"uh, i think i had a five-hundred-dollar gift card in mind? don't remember the price but it's for makeup, skincare, and all that stuff!!" he replies, scratching the back of his head in slight embarrassment.
"that's a bit expensive. are you sure you'd want to buy it? if it comes from you i'm sure she'll love it either way," utahime attempts to comfort him. she's a tad bit concerned at the price but hey, love is priceless.
"mhm! it's our anniversary soon, too," itadori nods, feeling his nerves calm a little.
gojo, however, needs to put his input or he'll go crazy. slapping both palms on his thigh, he changes the tone of his voice to a serious one, "son, let me introduce you on the top ten ways to make a woman happy with money."
"gojo, no. don't."
nanami kento.
a true businessman has now ended his working hours. at 7:30 p.m on the dot, he's now in his office preparing himself for his activities at 8:00 p.m. unknown to him, a little pesky fly slides himself into his office. obnoxiously chewing on some lays chips, gojo questions nanami's new attire, "you look oddly handsome, nanami. you got a date?"
refusing to meet eye-to-eye with gojo, he responds to him, "i do, actually. with my woman." turning around, he still avoids eye contact with gojo. rolling his sleeves up to his elbow, nanami walks to his desk, searching for his wristwatch.
once content with his attire, nanami finally looks at gojo. his visual makes a vein pop out on nanami's forehead. crumbs all over his fingers, hair scattered everywhere, mismatching indoor shoes â just irritating.
"if you excuse me, gojo, i have somewhere to be. exit yourself," gesturing to the door, nanami expects gojo to leave and so he does. just one step away from being out of nanami's office, gojo turns around. something's off.
"yeah yeah, go on with your woman â wait," he begins, eyebrows raised in suspicion. "you have a woman? like, seriously?"
paying no heed to the fly, nanami makes his way to phone you a call. once you answered, he brings the phone to his ear, "i'll be there to pick you up in ten-minutes, okay? ... yeah, i love you too."
"NO WAY," louder than sirens, gojo gasps at the confession and return of love. his once-crumbled fingers now cover his mouth.
nanami, already annoyed by his presence, puts his finger on his lip, motioning to gojo that he needs to shut up.

***
Another day, another event to go to. You are wearing your best 'pretend' smile. The smile you have practiced for months, to be your default expression whenever you meet anyone in any formal event. It's not that your trying to be fake. You just want to represent your husband the best that you can. And being a shy person, this is what you can do to help yourself.
Although, you wish, that even just one time, Yoongi would show up to these events with you.
At the first month of your marriage, he did. He did that to introduce you to everybody. You could still remember how you two were holding hands and always together. Those were the days when you have spent so much time with him.
But... Now, it's just always you. Alone. Amongst everyone in the whole place, you are the only one who always arrives with no partner.
"Excuse me?"
You twirl around and find the prettiest girl you think you have ever seen in your life. She looks like a goddess.
"Ahm, yes?" Your voice sounded so weak. You haven't said a word in the last hour.
"You are the only one wearing a corsage with a hint of lilac flowers in it... I'm guessing... you are Yoongi's wife?" She asks
"Ah, yes. I am." You look down at the flower pinned on your chest
She's smiling at you. She looks sort of happy to see you. "Finally... I've met you."
You haven't said a word. You are not sure how to approach this. You have no idea who she is and why is she approaching you. Plus, You are sort of intimidated by her. She is a beautiful, a sophisticated woman. She have this energy from her that says she is different than anyone else. You could feel your difference with her. Though you are covered with all highend brands of clothing and accessories. You can still see it.
"Oh, sorry... if I'm invading your personal time..." she says, "I am a friend of Yoongi... well... an old friend... from University" she explains. "Sarang."
"Oh." You smile and bow. "Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Y/N... I'm sorry... I've not met any of his friends yet so...I didn't know..."
"It's fine. I understand."
She looks like she came from a regal family, the same level as Yoongi. Also, her beauty.... takes your breathe away. She remind you of how you reacted the first time you saw Yoongi. In awe.
"Thank you for coming here also..." she says as she walks you around the gallery. "I hope you find something to your liking here that... would be a part of your home or either a gift to anyone you love."
As you two talk more, you learned that she's the one that threw this charity event. She gathered all these arts from known artists, to auction. She says that 100% of the earnings from it will go to the children's hospital that she have been donating ever since.
You have just met her and you are already at amazed by her. Not by just her prominent looks but also the way she talks and speaks her mind is very inspiring and uplifting. Because of her words you find it easy buying two items in the collection. You know all of the money will go and be used for something good.
You chose the items, the two that caught your attention the moment you entered the gallery. Both are paintings of a beautiful flowerfield which reminds you of your past. The field where you would always go with your friends and have picnic during summer break.
Such beautiful memory that you wish you could've not taken for granted. You wish you could re-live those moments again. And the paintings, those paintings you chose might go well in your own study room.
"It's nice meeting you..." she says, cutting you from reminiscencing your past
"Thank you too for inviting us.. though... my husband couldn't come..."
She smiles, lips pressed together. "He hasn't changed at all. Not very social and just focused on just working..."
Hmm.. The way she talks, the way she describes your husband is very detailed. She seem to know him pretty well. 'They are friends' you say to yourself but then at the back of your mind, a thought, just a tiny thought about him and her, is peaking through.
'Is she an ex of his?'
'If not an ex... probably... someone who liked him?'
I know, this is no place nor time to think about these but you can't help it.
Look at her and then you look at yourself. You two are totally opposites. From status to looks. And probably from personaly to intelligence. She is more than you. She is perfect. You think that he and Yoongi might or will get along more than you and him.
"Ahm... I ahm..." you start to feel uncomfortable with all of your self pity thoughts. You need to get a hold of yourself. "Sorry... I'll... I'll just go to the bar and have some drink..." you say as you clutch on to your dress.
"Oh. Okay." Sarang says. "You want me to accompany you...?"
You shake your head, "No... thank you... don't mind me... please go ahead and tour the rest of the guest." You say pointing at the newly arrived guests.
You turn around immediately before she could response again.
This is weird. You're not sure why you suddenly have the urge to drink. Even though you don't drink. Also because, you can't. Literally, can't.
You only drink red wine when you are offered to drink, by Yoongi of course. It's only when he asks you to join him during nights when he needs company or if you two are to discuss things about the family.
You don't drink also because you are a lightweight. You get tipsy and red easily. One time when you had more than three glasses of red with your husband, you instantly changed personality. You have no idea how and what changed besides the stories that your maid said the day after which were embarassing.
You have no recollection of anything besides the fact that you were on the sofa, inside Yoongi's home office, butt naked and only have Yoongi's blazer on you.
"Mrs. Min, what can I get you?" The cute guy behind the bar asks as you reach your destination.
"How... do you know who I am?"
He smiles, "We had the lists of the guests coming tonight... with photos." He pours water into a glass
"With details...? who can and cannot drink... I suppose?"
He nods. "Your husband noted... to not serve any alcohol to you Miss."
"Even... I want to? Or... pay?"
"I'm sorry Miss..." he says, "If you like we can offer you our non-alcohol champagne?"
You sigh heavily. You badly want to drink. Even just one glass to calm yourself. But...you can't. Yoongi have rules and you cannot avoid and disobey them.
He does give you the freedom to do whatever you want but when it comes to what not to do or what he likes, he have a handful.
1. Don't cut your hair short
2. Don't drink when he's not present nor ordered by him
3. Don't leave the house without atleast one body guard
4. Don't wear perfume (he gets dizzy)
5. Use the safeword during sex
And etc.
The rules are quite simple. Nothing to weird nor to hard to follow. It's just you compromising. And also, you do have a hard time saying no to Him.
"Thanks." You mumble, sighing as you take the glass of water and walk away from the bar.
After figuring out you can't drink to calm yourself, you decide to just go somewhere outside, away from the crowd and peaceful to get fresh air. Lucky you, you found an exit that leads you to the garden.
As time have gone by, you're not sure how long have you been there, staring at the fountain, the flowers and even starring down at your feet every now and then. You thought being out here will leave your head empty. Not worrying about anything. But then you'd catch yourself pouting and comparing yourself to all the ladies you have seen in the event, especially the last person you have talked to.
Your self pity and low self-esteem is thriving today than usual. Is it the lack of sleep? Or because of the one guy from earlier giving you a judging look that made you regret wearing the dress you picked? What happened?
These thoughts are not very helpful. Especially lately, well probably more on daily basis, you do wonder why Yoongi chose you. To marry.
They've said, more particularly his parents said, that he didn't like the ones they suggested for him; so he decided to pick you. To marry you instead of those women who is on the same level as him or close to his family's wealth.
Odd isn't it? Why would someone like him, an elite bachelor, pick a girl from a lower class family to marry? What did he see in you? What made him randomly pick you? You are not special, inexperience about life and not alluring as the other girls in his world. What did he saw? How did he even saw you? You were sure you two never met before. So did he hire someone to find a daughter from a poor family or what?
Instead of clearing your mind, you suddenly had these outburst of questions.
"What are you doing here?"
Your eyes widens after hearing a familiar voice. You didn't dare to speak. You just slowly turn your upper body around to see him, walking slowly towards you.
He's wearing a tuxedo. His hair is slightly slicked back and his scar. His beautiful scar. It's him.
You can't believe what you are seeing. He's really here. Why? He's been away for a week because of work and when did he came back?
"Y-yoongi..." you mumble, standing up
"I asked you..." he says as he stands right in front of you. Then you see his eyes darts down at your glass of water, sitting beside you. "Your bodyguard said... you asked for a drink." He looks back at you, his expression is so serious.
"I ahm... sorry..." you lower your gaze.
"You know... you can't drink."
"I'm sorry..." you whisper softly
"Let her have fun." A woman's voice says. "She just wants to have a glass of wine. It won't hurt."
Slowly raising your eyes, you see her, Sarang, standing from afar from you and Yoongi.
Her stance at this moment is unidentical to her persona earlier. It feels like she is a completely different person, though her appearance is the same. Something shifted.
"She did an amazing job.. representing you earlier." She adds
Your eyes then goes to Yoongi. You want to see his reaction to the angelic woman speaking. You are curious. No one talks to him directly like that, blunt and straight forward, even you.
Sarang is brave to talk casually to him.
"Ready the car..." Yoongi finally speaks after a monent of silence. Ordering one of his men to move.
That was it?
"I'll return the items. Keep the money. I don't care." He says while he's looking at you, straight into your eyes. Though you know, even his eyes are on you, he's not actually speaking to you.
"Yoongi le---" she tries to speak again but he didn't allowed it.
Yoongi just slightly turned his head to give her a side eye. He is not pleased. "My wife and I are leaving..." and then takes your hand to hold onto. "Let's go home..." he says that only you can hear.
"Ahm...ahh... okay." You say, lost by the sudden fierceness from him
***
"Get in." He orders you
Carefully climbing in the car, you move to the other side making sure there is a space betweem you two.
"Home please." Yoongi says to his driver as he shuts the door.
"Sir." The man answers, nodding and then pushes a button that closes the opening between the driver to the passenger seat of the car.
We are now isolated.
He looks so tired. Looks like he just came back and went straight to event to pick you up.
"I have my driver with me... you could've rested at home." You say
He sighs and closes his eyes. "I'm fine."
Did he purposely pick you up because he wants to see you? Did he missed you while he was away for a week?
Your mind is filled with questions and curiosity but you cannot dream of these questions to be real. You have to remember, he just married you because he have no other choice. There is no love in between you two. You are married by paper only that is worth a lot of money. Everything you are doing for him is to repay all of his kindness to you and your family.
This is all just a fantasy. A beautiful fantasy.
"Come closer..." he softly says. His eyes are still shut but his arm is arching, gesturing for me to take place in then. "Y/n..." he opens his eyes, calling my name. You scoot over his side. He immediately puts his arm around you, making sure you are close. "You're shaking..." he utters as he goes back to closing his eyes, resting his head back. "You're almost naked with that dress of yours..."
"Sorry..." you say looking down at your knotted fingers. "I thought it will look good....that's why I wore it."
He sighs. "You do look good..." then he shifts in his position and makes sure you're looking back at him. Then he starts leans in, to kiss you.
"Wait..."
He pauses, confused by your reaction. You have never denied his kiss before.
"I'm sorry..."
"What for?" He asks
"Well..." you look to the front, where the driver is. "Do we just kiss or..." you whisper
Yoongi didn't expect your question which made him smile. "It depends." He is looking straight into your eyes, your face are just inches away.
"He might hear us..." you whisper
"I don't fucking care." He moves forward and finally catches your lips.
***
After travelling for almost half an hour, you finally reach home.
"Welcome home, Miss..." The maid greets the second you slide out of the car. she then sees Yoongi, coming out from the other side of the car. "Master!" She bows again. "Welcome..."
They are suprised to see him. They didn't expect him to arrive with you. Looks like none of them knew he went to pick you up.
"Do we have anything to eat?" You softly ask the maid, then you realized that it's already late and that they have to rest too. "Oh... Sorry... never mind... you may go and rest." You give her a faint smile.
Then slowly walking towards the elevator, you could see your husband's reflection through the glass doors. He is busy already with his phone.
"Y/n..."
You glance up, peaking through the reflection. He is walking towards you. So you wirl around and waited for him to stand in front of you.
"Ask your assistant to remove all charities or event under the Lee's tomorrow. Even parties." He says as he undo his bow tie. "And... to not accept any invitation from them...again"
"Why?"
He didn't answer. No answer means he's serious.
"Okay..." You just answer before turning your back at him again.
Thinking about what you are in his world is heart breaking in a way. You are nothing but someone he owns. You just go with the flow of his world.
Yes you do had an idea what you've signed up for but its still shocking nonetheless how everything is unfolding and is doing.
"Aren't you getting in?"
You look up and see that he is in the elevator already, waiting.
"S-sorry..." you say before entering. You try your best to not make eye contact with him.
After both of you settled in, the maid follows and taps on level 3. That is where both your rooms are.
Oddly, Yoongi taps on the Upper ground after her. "Can you please cook something light before you leave? My wife needs to eat." He orders
"Yes, Master." She answers just in time when the elevator stops on UG.
"We'll both be down after we shower and get rested a bit."
"Understood, Master." She exists the elevator, bows and immediately walks off.
'My wife'. It is the second time he said that today. He never says that.
"Don't skip meals." He mumbles as the door closes
You didn't answer. You didn't mean to skip a meal or two today. And maybe a few days before too. You were nervous. One main reason is the dress you're wearing right now is very revealing. A satin black backless maxi dress. You wanted be perfect in the dress thats why, even though you know it's not achievable.
*pings*
The elevator door opens on level 3. You step out and about to turn to your wing when you hear him call your name again.
"Where are you going?" He asks
"T-to my room..." you sound so weak, "To shower..."
"Shower here." He says, suggesting the shower in his wing. Meaning in his room. Meaning his bathroom.
"Hmm?" You are lost in translation. Why is he asking you to shower there all of a sudden.
"To my room." And then he undo the first two buttons of his shirt.
"W-what? Why?"
He didn't say another word. He just continued to walk off towards his room leaving you.
"W-wait..." You take two steps forward but then stops.
"Y/N...." you hear the heels of his shoes stop hitting the marbled floor. His back is facing you. "I said, shower here. I didn't ask you to decide." he then turns around and you see his white top basically open now. "Will you go and shower with me or do you want me to peel that dress off you and carry you to my room?"
Flusttered by his remark, you just released an unsolicited shaky breathing. "Ahm... yes... I'm... I'm coming..."
***
[Flashback to Yoongi's side]
(Earlier... as soon as Yoongi arrived at the charity event)
Some of the people in the event went silent for a few seconds the moment they saw you enter the building. They all didn't expect you to show up since your wife was already present. But of course, they still greeted you with a smile and tried to make small talks. They want to be on your good side. They know what you are capable off. What power you hold in this world.
However, you don't care about these fuckers. You dropped by because you received a call from your wife's bodyguard that Y/N is not looking okay.
"Where is she?" You ask the man standing behind you.
"She just left the bar, Sir. And went out to the garden." He reply.
"I see."
One step, you just took one step and somebody already stands in your way to your wife.
"Look who's here."
"Sarang." You say her name, bitterly. You are not expecting her to be here.
"You have been ignoring my invites for quite some time now... I thought, helping others is one of your goals in life that's why you work 24/7?"
"I thought this event was by the Lee's?" You hiss at your male assistant.
"It is, Sir. By--"
"Lee Do-Hyun..." she cuts off the assistant. "My husband..." she proudly says. "Aww.. That kind a... hurts my feelings...that... you have no idea I got married..."
"I don't keep tab on people who's not important to me."
She scoffs but she sounded a bit insulted and her ego got hurt. But she's good at pretending that it didn't bothered her. "You say that now...but a few years ago... I was your muse..." she tries to move closer to you but your body guards stands in between quickly.
"Was." You look away from her and try to search for your wife through the window not far away from where you stand. "My mistake for socializing to a liar, back stabbing... leech like you." You say, then giving her a side eye. "I wish your husband good fortune... or that he loves spoiling you... or esle... he'll found out his wife's true color..."
You're about to walk away, again, but this bitch still wants to talk to you.
"You think... she'll not get tired of you? Of you controlling her? Especially getting married with you... with no love at all?" She snorts a laugh again. "Or maybe... she will not..." she mumbles under her breathe, "Now... It figures... why you picked someone from a low class family... someone with no choice but to stay with you because her family needs your money. I see..." she laughs again, "poor girl... if I were her, I would milk you all of your money so it will be worth it... after all she married a controlling, dominant, and a freaky person like you."
You know Y/N is not like her. She is a nice person. She's not into money like this bitch is. However, you do think about how Y/N thinks about you and her marriage to you.
You admit that you are very controlling when it comes to her. It is one of your negative trait that you cannot put away. It comes natural with you because of the life you have been brought up and your business. You want things to happen in your way and you are also possessive. You do try to controll it when it comes to her but you are not sure if you are doing it right.
Well how could you know, you never talk about it. Even with your wife. You never asked about her feelings and opinions.
"Watch your mouth." You mumble. "You might think you know me from the years we've been together. But you haven't seen half of what I can and would do... if anyone picks a fight with me.." you glare at her. "Consider this a warning."
[End of flashback from Yoongi's side]
*************
"Miss..."
Slowly opening your eyes, your eyes carefully adjusted to the light. You could see the ray of sunshine peaking through your dark thick curtains.
"Miss..."
You turn your head to the side and see your maid bowing.
"It's noon Miss..."
"Oh."
It has been a quite a few days now, since you start waking up this late. You are usually up early. You are a morning person. You also do jogs or walks around the property and sometimes go to the home gym to move, always. But something shifted in your routines.
You are tired, less motivated and no will to get up your bed.
"I think we need to call the family doctor now, Miss." The maid suggested. "You've lost a bit of weight and you look pale."
"I'm fine." You say as you push your duvet off your body and slide down off your bed. "I'll take a quick bath..." you mumble
"Understood." She is ready to come along with you.
"No... I'm fine... I'll just go alone... just prepare food for me please."
"But... Miss..." she usually prepares your bath and always stays with you there. After the little accident you had a year ago when you first experience a hot bath on the tub. You fainted because you fell asleep. Too much enjoyment and you forgot it is not good to stay long in there.
"I'll be fine." You smile and requested for her to leave
"Okay Miss... but... I will be back after half an hour to check."
"Sure."
You slept last night, wearing your silk robe and your fancy cream nightgown, his favorite. You were expecting Yoongi to come home last night as per usual schedule. But he didn't. He didn't even informed the staff that he'll not be home for a longer period.
What happened? You don't know.
The last time you talked to him was the night he asked you to come to his room and shower with him.
Everything that night was magical. For you atleast. But then you ruined it.
When you both entered his dark room, he immediately clung onto you. He held you like everything depends on it. It was more intemate and hungry than the usual and you liked it for some reason. After all the self doubt and insecurity you felt in the party, the intemacy made you feel more than what you feel.
And when he peeled off your dress from your body, you didn't expected him to go down on his knees and lick your soul out of your body. His tongue did more than you know he could do. It brought you to another level of high. And you didn't know you could screech like an animal because of it. He really made sure you are on cloud nine or even beyond that.
"Fuck me... please..." you begged him after you knees weakened and fall down the floor where he is.
"No." He said. He was sturn. "No request for tonight." He said and then he positioned you underneath him where he could properly see you crumble because of him.
"Y-yoongi... please.... I need... I want to come..." you begged
He brought you to cloud nine but then hold onto your pearls when you were about to orgasm.
"I'm punishing you right now..." he said as he lowers down and starts to run his tongue from your chest up. "Next time... don't wear any sort of revealing clothes...when I'm not around.. do you understand that Y/N?"
"Y-yes..."
"Another rule to add... are you okay with that?" He hummed the last words on your ears before he let both his hands squeeze your breast. "Answer me..."
"I don't... mind..." you were squearming underneath him. He was playing your nipples then. "I... I don't mind... Yoongi..." you repeated, pleading.
His punishment continued for another few minutes. It was too much. You were struggling catching your bliss but he's playing you. However, you are patient. You know his kinks and you know what he wants and so you do whatever and accept whatever. Coz you know it is from him.
"Scream my name." He grunted as he pounds you with no mercy.
You were holding on to his massive bookshelf on the wall, your legs were lifted and hanging over his forearm whilst he was thrusting deep in you. You were getting hurt from your back hitting the shelves but it didn't matter. You don't know why but for some reason you can endure everything just for Yoongi. Even pain.
"Nnggghhaaa..." you threw your arms around his neck as he went faster. "Please!" You cry on his neck. "Aaaahhh!!" You screamed the orgasm you have been keeping for a while. You felt relieved and content.
And as you two were catching your breath. You uttered words that surprised the both of you. You said 'I love you' to Yoongi.
It should not be a surprise. You two are married right. However since yours are different from others, those words were never said or mentioned ever after the wedding. It is like a forebidden phrase though there are no rule about it. It's like an unspoken deal that no one says those words since THIS.. YOU TWO... is just a fantasy. You two got together with no love. It is not real. You are just one of his property.
And so, after that night. That magical night for you ended up into this cold, quiet and empty prison. Again. You are back to nothing.
You thought you are on a journey escaping that confinement. You thought that something is going to change. You thought... that you were wrong about him. But who are you kidding? You were just having sex like you used to. It is nothing special. It is the same crap. So you saying you love him is... worthless.
"Did I even mean it?" You ask yourself as you lay down in your hot bath. "I said it... after sex.." you are trying to understand how those words slipped out of your lips. If it all just happened because of such high from the sex.
You can clearly remember how you said it. You paused, looked into his eyes and carefully said it. You know you said it with the intent for him to hear it but when you saw his reaction. It made you realize what a big mistake it was.
"Am I having feelings for him?" You mumble as you lower yourself more into the water. "I should not right?"
You know the answer to your own quesion. Look at him even ignoring you for almost two weeks now. Who are you even kidding thinking it will have an effect on him?
After the 'I love you' incident, He eat dinners without you or he let you eat first before he comes out of his home office. And then when he leaves, he does not inform you now. You just get the news of him flying off somewhere from your maid. Even his men are being cautious with you. He must've ordered them to be distant but at the same time protect you.
How funny that these are his responses to you. You know you deserve it but you're a little bit hurt, your not going to lie.
"Who am I for him to love?" You sigh. "Maybe... I should just prepare myself for the ending of this fantasy..."
*********
"Master." The maids bows as they suddenly sees Yoongi enter the main entrance while they are all cleaning.
Yoongi have not been home for a while. He has been... busy.
"Give them all my clothes." He says to his right hand man. "Sorry if it's quite a lot today." He then says to the maids as he removes his black coat revealing his white button up shirt, stained with blood. A lot of it. No one reacted to the visual that is shown. All the staff are used to it. They know how his world is.
"Where is she?" He asks as he loosen up his tie
All the maids in the corredor suddenly turn heads to the youngest one at the end of the line. She is Y/N personal maid.
"Master." She steps forwards and bows again. "Miss is in her bath."
Yoongi frowns. "Alone?"
"Ahm..." she suddenly stutters. "Sorry, Master! She... Miss wanted to... alone... but I told her after half an hour I will go back."
"How long has she been there?" He then throws his tie on the ground.
"Twenty."
"Okay." He takes a deep breathe and tries to collect himself. "Just go and be on standby in her room. She can't stay any longer."
"Okay, Master." She bows again and briskfully walk back to Y/N wing.
"Are you not going to... visit her Sir?" His male right hand asks. "She have been messaging you since..." he pauses for a bit. "And calling too."
He didn't answer. "Ready my bath please." He orders and just continue walking his way to his room.
"Understood." The man replies
"She can't see me like this." Yoongi mumbles as he walks
"I see..." his right hand man smiles at his master's response.
"Why are you smiling?" Yoongi asks, one eyebrow up.
"Nothing, Sir."
"Just spit it out."
The right man, Mr. Kim have been Yoongi's right hand man ever since he was in his teens. Mr. Kim saw him grew up and be the man that he is now. And for sure, if something changed he would be the first one to notice
And now, the tiny changes in Yoongi's mood and decisions, He might not know or see it but it is obvious for Mr. Kim. He knows it is something about his wife.
"2nd week of your marriage, Sir. She saw you coming home with a bloody lip and injured knuckles. You said you don't give a damn if she sees you looking like a murderer."
"So? What's your point?"
"It's just lately...."
Yoongi pauses and turns around to see Mr. Kim, wearing a smile.
"What are you implying? Just... say it."
Mr. Kim bows and says, "Nothing Sir."
"Hmmm..." rolling his eyes, he continued to walk.
*****
"Miss..." your personal maid rushes in your room, "Master have return." She says.
To her suprise, she sees you standing in the middle of the room, wearing your bathrobe and a towel in your hair already.
You take a deep breathe, not letting your eyes look away from the view you are seeing from your window, a clear blue sky.
"Miss.. shall I prepare your clothes?"
You close your eyes and then removed the towel wrapped around your long hair. "Please..." you softly answer
"What do you prefer to wear today, Miss?" She asks she she begins to walk towards your walk in closet.
"A black dress..." you say as you follow along. "Maybe the one with the longer sleeves."
She nods and then continues to search for the dresses you have that matches your description while you on the other hand looks at yourself in the full length mirror while you undress from your robe.
You stare at your body and see how you thin you are. Not super thin but thinner than what you used to.
It's your own fault. You have been skipping meals when you are stressed and it's not good.
"Miss?" She then lays three dresses on the sofa in the middle, for your choices.
"The middle one." You says.
You then open the drawer for your undies to grab a black lace matching underwear.
"Ahm, Miss...?"
"Yes?"
"Are you going to eat with Master, in the dinning today?"
"Hmm... what did he say?"
"Nothing. He just asked me to stay with you when I told him you are in your bath."
"Did he say if he wants to see me?"
The maid didn't answer.
"I guess not." You scoff as you getting into the dress. "Just bring my food in my study room. I'll eat there while I do some reading."
"Understood." She bows and exists the room.
"I'm not gonna wait for him anymore." You say to yourself while looking onto the mirror. "If he's going to avoid me or ignore me... then... that's what I'll do as well..."
Starring once again at yourself on the mirror, you look at your face and then your eyes goes down to your belly.
"I have to learn to go on with my life... with or without him..." you mumble. "I should start to escape this fantasy... a dream that maybe the 'us' will be something."

Genshin SAGAU except Reader is a lore fanatic
cw: lore dump, archon quest spoilers, side quest spoilers, etc
â guys did u know that the Sea Ganoderma is actually souls of children who died young trapped and is forced to spend generations absorbing elements from the sand and sea as the form of punishment?? â â what the fuck your grace. â Tighnari muttered.
âyelan, i know where u got ur jacket. â â o- oh, really, Your Grace? â Yelan stuttered, sweat dropping. â Yeah, i know u stole it from a Fatui Harbinger that was supposed to be a gift for the Tsaritsa and made some 'adjustments' to make it fit your style. â you stated with a smirk, while yelan tries to hold in her cries because you rlly are a Divine Being, knowing everything about Teyvat.
Archon quest spoilers down ahead
â Guys, I have a theory that the upside down Statue of the Seven and city the Traveler and Paimon saw are actually the correct way and that proves it because when I took a walk at Spiral Abyss when I went down I expected it to be pitch black but instead I'm met with the galaxy sky and a moon and possibly, Khaenri 'ah and Enkanomiya are the ones that are actually in the surface, while Teyvat is underground and yknow what? Scaramouche is RIGHT. The stars are fake the sky is fake everything is fake as we know of HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA â your maniacal laughter echoed through the Akademiya as many Researchers are baffled by this amount of information
â Alhaitham, do you have a second? â â Of course, Your grace. What is it? â â Are you the Scarlet King â â ........ excuse me â
â WELL i noticed that the color of your eyes matches the Scarlet King's eyes, and your boots matches the color of the buildings of the Scarlet King's Civilization. A blue gem appeared when the Scarlet King sacrificed himself and it kinda looked like the gems at your back. And when you do your burst it looks REALLY similar to the Primal Constructsâ attacks, and the Primal Constructs are what's left of the Scarlet King's civilization. And at your chest it looks like it has the wings of an eagle, and your name literally means young eagle. What does this have to do with the Scarlet King? Well, at the Dunes I've ventured, I've seen murals and a figure with a bird head and it could possibly be the Scarlet King but it strangely reminded me of you!!! Plus, you know how to use the devices made by the Scarlet King, whereas the books and researchers at the Akademiya shows no information on how to properly use them. Pretty suspicious...... â
and then theres alhaitham sweating his balls off on how the hell did you get that information.
â guys, did you know that when Enkanomiya was plunged deep into the ocean, they created a fake sun called Helios to survive, right??? But actually, the nobles wanted more power. They wanted a puppet or ruler that they could easily control or manipulate. And WHO WOULD MAKE A GOOD CANDIDATE??? THAT'S RIGHT! A CHILD. AND THUS, BEGIN THE REIGN OF THE SUNCHILDREN. They were young and ignorant, obviously easy to be deceived and lied to. They were manipulated to commit heinous deeds. The first Sunchild was deceived to imprisoning his role model for life, aka isolated from everyone. The sunchildren were DESPISED by their own people, EVEN THE CARETAKERS ARENT ALLOWED TO SPEAK TO THEM. Knowing that the Sunchildren could realize that they were being manipulated, the nobles then introduced Rite of Solar Return. Now what the hell is a Rite of Solar Return??? Basically, when a Sunchild hits a certain age, they will be taken into the inner sanctum of Helios. The artificial Sun's high temperature could AND WOULD incinerate them alive!!!!! AND SOMEHOW, SOME HAVE SIMILARITIES WITH OUR CURRENT ARCHONS!!! Orupeusu had a talent for the lyre, aka the Anemo Archon. Risutaiosu made lifelike sculptures, like the Electro Archon. And Isumenasu would roam his country, AND EVEN HAD A SPEAR LIKE THE GEO ARCHON AT HIS GRAVE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA I AM A GENIUS â
the fact that people would still listen to your rants about Teyvat but still be concerned about your mental health is hilarious
if you werent the Divine Being of All, they would've locked you up where no one can find you, you know
Dottore would like you tho
so that's good

⥠THOSE THREE DAYS : : ě´ ëí [LEE DONGHYUCK] | YOUR GALLERY
⥠120322 - YOUR BIRTHDAY : : No, you didn't tell him that it was what you wanted but he knew it. How? Because, he listens as much as he speaks. He loves it when you tell him your interests and he thinks that he should know. How else would he know that you'd be the happiest if he took you to the bookstore? Ever since he knew, he plans these dates that revolves around reading. He gets you a book and lies on your lap while you read it to him. He got that little moon lamp you wanted for your study table. Anything that makes you comfortable. He even tries to get into it, though he's more of a movie person. But who would have thought he would just show up at 10 in the morning asking you to get ready and take you to the bookstore on your birthday? He'd have the whole day planned, and you can just relax and switch off your brain. (He'd not forget to take a selca from your phone to set it as your wallpaper, though. It is to shoo away people he says.) The day will end with you talking to him in your softest voice as you scroll through bookstagram and him staring at you with so much love.
⥠060622 - HIS BIRTHDAY : : It's your time to plan. A day to celebrate the sunshine in your life. It's one of those outdoor dates you planned. Take him to a nice outdoor restaurant which has a killer view and delicious food. What you had thought would be a romantic date turned into a mini circus? You watch him be silly and adorable while you wait for the orders to arrive. One minute he is sitting and next he's hanging off a tree branch. There's never dull moment around him. You click pictures all throughout the day to reminisce because you had been the happiest while watching him. You'd say he's the weirder one out of you both while you watch him pose in intriguing ways. This is that one hell of a day that you'd never forget.
⥠090922 - THAT DAY THAT HE LET EVERYONE KNOW : : You didn't think that he would. Your relationship with him had always been private, and you had been satisfied with that. On a random day, he asked you if you minded making your relationship public. You had said no because as much as you loved the 'private but not secret' game, you've always wanted to play the 'public and don't give a fuck' game. You are dating Lee Haechan, and you are flexing it because he's that good of a lover. But you hadn't really thought that he would just say it. You thought it was a fleeting thought that comes and goes whenever he sneaks into your bed at 3. You still remember how it went on that day and you understood why he bought you VIP tickets to that concert, THE DREAM SHOW 2, IN A DREAM in Seoul. You had been taking pictures of him all night charming everyone in his rockstar like glory. It was during the last ment he had spoken about you, and his words still are carved into your heart.
"ěŹëŹëś ě¤ë ë°¤ěë ě¤ěí ěŹëě ěę°íęł ěśěľëë¤. ꡸ë

[ Everyone, there's an important person I want to introduce tonight. She has been the arms I run to, the shoulder I cry on, and the heart I hold close. She calls me her sunshine, and so i want to tell you guys that I think she's my moon. it's unfair that i have to hide my love for the moon, right?]
The spotlight is on you as Haechan smiles and walks closer to the side you are in, looking up ardently. That playful smile never left. No one noticed the tremble in his voice but you did. You place your hand against the glass and look at him with a soft smile. You see his glassy eyes and you tell him not to cry.
"ëŹě´ ě°¸ ěëŚëľěŁ ? ëíŹë¤ě ë´ę° ëŹě ę°ě§ęł ěë 깸 ëśëŹěíě§?"
[The moon is beautiful, isnât it? You guys are envious that I have the moon, right?]
He chuckles while the rest of the dream laugh at him, all because he's looking not the moon but at you, just you.

Hotel Hell - Part Two
Rhea Ripley x Fem!Reader
Part One Pinterest
WARNINGS: SMUT, 18+, Fighting, Shoving, Oral Sex, Vaginal Fingering, MAKEUP SEX
WORD COUNT: 3,812
A/N: omg i am sorry this took me years to finish, life has been busy but it should calm down soon. i got such a good request the other day and i haven't gotten it off my mind so i will start that tmrw if i have time. also i proofread this at 2am so please ignore any mistakes lol
âThe Brutalization Chamber? You want to know what The Brutalization Chamber is?â The Irish man laughed out, his eyebrows raising once you turned your gaze towards him.Â
An expression of curiosity displayed on your face as you repeated the name of the supposed âchamberâ. It was obvious to the man that you wanted to know more.
The man began making his way down the stairs, âNo offense sweetheartâŚbut I donât really think this is the place for a girl li-â He tried to speak before being cut off.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
âI donât really care what you think sir, I want you to show me what's down there.â You chirped out, following the male down the flight of stairs, your hand hovering over your aching ribs.
âWell shit, if you insist,â The guy chuckled out, âFeisty, sheâll like you.â He muttered under his breath as he opened the door.Â
Sheâll like youâŚwas he talking about the same âsheâ you had spent your night with? The same woman who just got done unleashing pure cruelty onto you? The same woman who disappeared into this exact building moments ago?
âNameâs Finn by the way,â He mentioned, âItâs just us, the big boss is probably around here somewhere as well.â Finn spoke as you scanned the room looking for âthe big bossâ.
Grimy was the only way to portray the room. Rope lights scattered across the ceiling, some were dim while others flickered. There were freezing concrete walls with cracks littered all over. A red neon sign displaying the letters âTBCâ. A blood stained ring sat taking up a quarter of the room. Various pieces of gym equipment and punching bags were compressed into a room off to the side.Â
âSoâŚjust a gym?â You questioned the man, there was no sign of Rhea.
âNah, itâs a little more than just a gym loveâŚthink of it as a fight club. A fight club with a fuck ton of money involved.â Finn stated leading into a room the size of a walk-in closet, the room seemingly being a pathetic excuse of a nurses office.Â
You leaned against the door frame while Finn babbled on as he started unpacking his bag, âPeople come to us in desperate need for money. Theyâre entered into our roster, put in the ring and bet on. If they win their match they get fifty percent of all bets placed. Bunch of sick wealthy men love wasting their fortune on this shit.â
âDonât you think this is just a tad bit illegal?â You chuckled, sending a small wave of pain to your ribs.
âEh I donât worry about that too often,â Finn shrugged, digging around his duffle. âRheaâs not too worried about the legalities when there's this much money involved, she can pay her way out of damn near anything.â
Rhea.
Despite your pain you perked up at the mention of Rheaâs name although you stayed silent.
âRhea would like you, youâre quiet but there's just something about you, like thereâs a fire inside you.â Finn mentioned, pointing at you. âI would introduce you to her but earlier this afternoon one of her top guys lost her like seven thousand. She stormed off to god knows where. Another one of her main guys has a big match in about half an hour. Going up against some new kid weâve never seen so Iâm sure sheâs busy worrying her ass off.â
You heard a scoff echo from the main room as footsteps approached. âJesus fucking christ Finn! Do you ever shut your goddamn mouth?â You heard Rhea sarcastically laugh trying to cover her anger.
You slowly turned to face Rhea, examining her tensed jaw and narrowed eyes. Reality had finally washed over you. The weight of Rheaâs actions flooded into your brain. You couldnât figure out if you felt more betrayal or anger in the moment.
âAh! Rhea mate!â Finn exclaimed, trying to divert from Rheaâs critiques. âI was just telling this young lady how much youâd like herâŚI never caught her name though.âÂ
Your face turned to the ground as you tried to mutter out your name. âWeâve met.â Rhea butted in, her voice was fully flat-devoid of any sign of emotion. Thatâs when the regret hit you.Â
You shouldn't have come here.
âI should leaveâŚit seems you guys have a busy night.â You muttered quietly. Rhea took a firm grasp on your forearm, âThat can wait, letâs go have a chat.â Rhea said as her head motioned towards what you assumed to be her office.
âNo, I-I can come back another time, I really donât want to be a bother.â You barely managed to stutter out while Rheaâs middle and pointer finger of her opposite hand guided your chin up, forcing you to look at her. âI said letâs go have a chat.â Rhea commanded, her grip on your arm tightening.Â
You reluctantly followed the woman as she dragged you in the direction of her office. You knew you were in for it big time.
âYou are a fucking insane bitch! What could have possibly made you think it was okay to fucking show up to this place?!â Rhea lashed out at you the moment the latches of her door clicked together. She dropped your arm before shoving you towards the other side of the room. You had been lucky enough to catch your balance as you were just inches away from barreling into the concrete walls.
âI just wanted to learn more! I wanted to figure you out Rhea! Can you blame me for wanting to figure out why youâre so angry and cruel every time I see you?â You said loudly, your voice filled with hurt.
âThat doesn't give you the goddamn right to follow me to where I work! You donât fucking get it, these people I work with are dangerous and I donât want you getting caught up in this bullshit!â Rhea retorted out as her breaths began picking up speed.
âWhat makes you think Iâm so incompetent that Iâm incapable of being around danger?! You put me in danger nearly every fucking time I see you! â Your hands flew around as you yelled at the woman, tears accumulating in your eyes.Â
Rhea began inching towards you, a look of irritation covering her face. âI donât fucking put you in danger!â
âYes you fucking do! You have no idea how many bruises youâve left me with. The other month you choked me till I passed out, yet you didnât stop fucking me to check if I was okay! For fucks sake Rhea, an hour ago you left me bleeding and collapsed to the floor!!â All hell had broken loose between the two of you as your tears started escaping from you.
âYou told me you could take it! I donât get why youâre bitching and moaning all of the sudden.â Rhea continued arguing.
Your fist crashed down onto Rheaâs nearby desk, âI can take it rough, but you canât keep disappearing after being borderline torturous! Youâre so damn immature!!â Your screaming matched showed no signs of stopping anytime soon.
âIâm immature? Youâre the one that followed me to my job and is throwing a tantrum right now!â Rheaâs voice thundered around the room.Â
âYou donât get it Rhea! Iâm a fucking person and you dont give a shit about me! Why donât you fucking care?!â You yelled through broken sobs as you started unleashing your sadness and anger onto Rhea, pushing and beating on her chest.Â
Rhea made no attempt to stop you. She made no moves, just allowing you to inflict your pain onto her.Â
Once your hands had dropped to your sides in exhaustion and your breaths became heavier as you tried calming yourself down Rhea quietly mumbled, âI do careâŚâ
âBut you donâtâŚâ You looked up at her with wide eyes, lifting your shirt. You exposed your aching torso displaying your cut up skin, dried blood pooled around your laceration and the letters of Rheaâs name carved into your skin. âSomeone who cares doesn't do this and run away.â You quietly said, your voice strained from the screaming match.
The regret in her eyes was apparent as she darted her eyes away from you. The realization she had gone too far had hit her hard, feeling as if she was being crashed into by an eighteen-wheeler.Â
Her vulnerability was short lived, Rhea quickly repressed her display of emotion, replacing it with her regular cold and emotionless stare. She had to put on her tough guy attitude. It was her only safety blanket. Emotions are for the weak, Rhea could never be weak.
âYou get worse every time I see you, something has to change RheaâŚâ You breathed out, trying to articulate your speech as you lowered your shirt back down. âIf you canât fix this behavior Iâm done.âÂ
âYou know you donât mean that.â Rhea sighed as she ran her hand through her black hair. She didnât want to lose you but she could never admit that. âI need to think aboutâŚeverything. Just give me a some t-âÂ
Rhea was cut off by a deep voice from outside the door. âTen minutes till the bell Rhea.â Rhea rolled her eyes and made her way to the door, âJust give me some fucking time Damian! And go get a roll of gauze from Finn. Quickly.â Rhea demanded after opening the door just a sliver.Â
You clenched your jaw as you sensed Rheaâs levels of anger were once again rising. The last thing you wanted was to end up back at square one with her. You couldnât handle another argument with her. Not tonight at least.Â
The pair of you stood in silence as you waited for the man to return. Once he had arrived he opened the door, handing Rhea the roll of fabric. His eyes curiously examining you through the crack in the door.Â
âIâll be out in a minuteâŚâ Rhea aggressively muttered before closing the door. She mumbled your name under her breath before walking to her desk.
âYouâre lucky Finn showed up early, only God knows what could have happened to you if one of the other guys showed up before him.â Rhea grunted as she unlocked a drawer and began rummaging through the mess inside.Â
What is it about her?
âWhy such a dark line of work? What made you choose this of all things?â You questioned, you were terrified to set her off but on the other hand you wanted to push for answers from her. It was the only way to get your foot into the door of her life.
Rhea stumbled her way towards you avoiding eye contact, a tube of antibacterial gel in her hand as she shrugged. âNot something you choose. Youâre born into it and canât escape it, you just have to accept it and make the best out of it.â She mumbled while she lifted your shirt up.Â
Rhea applied a small glob of the antibacterial gel to her finger while she lowered herself to her knees, becoming face to face with your shredded skin. The woman began dabbing the gel onto your skin causing you to let out a small hiss from the pain.
Once she finished applying all of the gel she wiped the residue from her fingers onto her pant leg and grabbed the roll of gauze. Rhea cleared her throat before speaking up, âJust stay in here for a while, I can take you home after this match.â
âIâm perfectly capable of walking home by myself, Rhea.â You stated, watching Rhea carefully wrap the gauze around your waist.
âIâm walking you home and thatâs final.â Rhea stood her ground, âSeriously though, just stay in here. Iâll be back.â
You werenât planning on fighting about this with her, deciding to keep your mouth shut you let her take the win. âFine, whatever.â You gave in as Rhea tied a knot in the gauze to hold it in place.Â
âShouldnât be more than twenty minutes.â Was all Rhea had said as she stood up. Nothing else left her lips as she exited the room.Â
No apology?
You groaned as you sat down in Rheaâs large chair. You blankly stared at the wall for several minutes before your mind started to wander. Exploring anything that popped into your head. Places, things, people, Rhea.Â
If you were being honest with yourself you were doubting the woman's ability to change her ways. You assumed she would most likely be this way her whole life, although you prayed she had it in herself to change. She had the potential to be great if she would put her pride aside.
It wasn't long until the cheers of the crowd on the opposite side of the door had started drowning out your thoughts.Â
You wanted to catch a glimpse of the madness. You stood up from the large chair, your feet scuffing the ground as you strolled to the door
You cracked the door open, taking a peek of the ring surrounded by a flock of rowdy men that were yelling. The large man you made eye contact with earlier was in the ring brutalizing a much smaller guy who couldnât even be older than twenty-five. He was putting on one hell of a fight but it was clear he stood no chance.
Rhea was the only woman there, she was stood right against the ring watching intensely. She had caught your image in the corner of her eyes. Her face turned in your direction, she tilted her head as if she was asking you what the hell you were doing.
You mouthed the word sorry to her before quickly closing the door.Â
Fifteen excruciatingly boring minutes had passed, the cheers had dispersed into muffled conversations. Rhea had finally arrived back in her office. She seemed content which you enjoyed.Â
âYou ready to go?â Rhea asked, you answered with a simple nod.
As the two of you made your way out of the building Rhea exchanged goodbyes with some of the strange men.
The entire walk was silent, the both of you reflecting on the weird night you had been through together. The silence wasnât uncomfortable, it was almost peaceful. Having Rhea in your presence when she was somewhat calm was pleasant. You wanted to hold onto this peacefulness for the rest of your life.
It took you by surprise when Rhea insisted on taking you directly to your door instead of just dropping you off in the front of the large building and ditching.Â
âYou didnât need to take me all the way up here.â You quietly mumbled as you unlocked the door to your apartment. âLotâs of bad people around this time of night.â Rhea muttered as your door swung open.Â
You turned around to face the woman, her eyes peering over your head, scanning the entry of your apartment. âThereâs bad people around all times of the day. Iâm used to it.â You said quietly, her eyes returning to you.
An awkward silence filled the air as the both of you gazed upon each other. Rhea began rubbing her neck, âUhâŚI should go. Iâm gonna go.â She feebly stated before turning away from you, quickly walking down the hall. She had stormed off before you could even speak up.
Still no apology?
â
Multiple days had passed. Rhea had made no contact yet. You spent a concerning amount of time just staring at Rheaâs contact in your phone, debating if you should press the call button. Yet you couldnât bring yourself to do it.
Sheâd call if she cared enough.
It felt as if life had paused, your days seemed empty. The busy streets of New York City felt devoid of any livelihood. The live music that took place at work sounded muffled. The flavor of your favorite foods had been stripped away. Once colorful flowers sold down at the street market now sat dull.
Days just painfully repeated.Â
Tonight you had the night off, your only plans were to stare out the window of your bedroom and pray for a text from Rhea.Â
You sat criss-cross at the edge of your bed twiddling your thumbs, your mind seemingly empty as you stared into the windows of the skyscraper across the street when the sound of a knock echoed down your short hall.
Groaning in annoyance as you got up you began making your way to the door, chewing the inside of your cheek as your feet shuffled below you.Â
You weren't sure who you were expecting to be in the hall but it completely caught you by surprise when you swung the door open to see the dark haired woman waiting for you.
Without a word Rhea launched herself onto your lips, the force causing you to be pushed back a few inches.
Jesus Christ.
This felt like more than just a kiss, it had an intense amount of passion intertwined into it. Rheaâs hands gripped onto your waist as you backed into the apartment, her foot kicking the door behind her closed.
She had never kissed you in this way before. Before tonight you had only received measly pecks while the two of you had sex. It was never emotional.
Rhea slowly pulled away from your lips, both of your breaths were heavy as she finally spoke, âFuck, Iâm sorry. Iâm so sorry.â
Finally.
âGod, Iâve treated you like shit and I have been such a dick. Itâs been the only thing on my mind. You donât deserve that, Itâs not okay.â Rhea began rambling as you stared into each other's eyes. âI get it if you never want to see me again but please just give me a chance, Iâll do whatever it takes. Iâll get my temperament under control, Iâll go to therapy, whatever you say I will do it.â
âRhea-â You whispered, trying to calm her down but she continued her rant.Â
âI want to know you, more than just your body. I wanna know everything, The good, the bad, the boringâŚI wanna know what pisses you off and what makes you cry. I donât know why I kept you a stranger for so long and Iâm sorry for that.â
You led Rhea into your small living room as you listened to her rambling. You took a seat in your chaiser lounge and ushered her to sit in front of you as her speech continued on. âI donât know why I ran awayâŚI think it's cause I didn't want to hurt you. But I did hurt you, so badly. I donât want to run away anymore, I had no right to ever hurt you the way I did, just for me to leave you alone right after. Itâs the worst thing Iâve ever done and Iâll never forgive myself for it. Itâs just that I-â
âRhea!â You slightly raised your voice causing Rhea to finally close her mouth. You leaned closer to her, placing a quick and gentle kiss on her lips. âYouâre okay, donât worry.â You comforted the woman, softly chuckling.
âI didnât interrupt your night did I?â Rhea asked, slightly nervous as she scootched up closer to you. You shook your head no as a smile creeped on your face.
It didnât take long for the two of you to end up in a heated makeout session, your hands roaming over one another's clothing. Rhea groaned your name against your lips before pulling back just a few centimeters.Â
âPlease let me show you how sorry I am.â She practically pleaded, her eyes full of desperation, âYes pleaseâ you quietly giggled, your eyes adoring the woman's face. The second Rhea heard the word yes echo from your mouth her lips went straight for your neck, causing a whimper to escape from you.Â
Rhea took her time as she kissed upon your neck, carefully leaving soft love bites every so often, marking the skin a flushed pink shade. Her lips only leaving your skin as she pulled off your sweater before she began peckering kisses against your collarbones.
Her hands crept behind your back, unclasping your bra and pulling it from your chest. Your fingers grazed upon Rheaâs tense shoulders as she left a path of kisses down your torso.
As Rheaâs face reached the base of your stomach, her eyes fixated on your face as if she was asking for your blessing. You gave her a nod before lifting your hips into the air, allowing her to slide your sweatpants off your legs.Â
âRhea, please,â You whined out while Rheaâs fingers toyed with the seam of your panties. Rhea grinned to herself as she slowly shed the final layer of clothing off your body.Â
The woman wasted no time connecting her mouth to your heat, causing you to let out a breathy moan. âSo fucking beautifulâŚâ Rhea praised against your skin.
Truthfully, her tongue felt like heaven as it worked its way around your wetness. Rhea didn't want to rush you. This wasn't for her, she just wanted to make sure you knew she had the ability in her to change for the better.
Your breaths picked up their pace as Rheaâs hand inched its way closer to your core. Her ring and middle finger traced a circle around the perimeter of your entrance before slowly being pushed into you.
âShit,â You whined out, your back arching as both Rheaâs tongue and digits worked their magic on you. Although you enjoyed roughhousing with the woman, you undoubtedly appreciated the amount of care Rhea was putting into you.
You were a whimpering mess under Rheaâs touch, and she loved every small sound that escaped from your mouth.
âMore! Please, I can take it!â You begged for more of her. Rhea obliged, sliding her pointer finger into your tightness causing you to roll your eyes back as her fingers filled your insides.
âThatâs it baby,â Rhea preached quietly when your hips began to rock against her fingers, your moans filling the room. âSuch a good girl for me.â She added on before her tongue got back to sailing over your clit, her fingers picking up their pace.
Your legs tightened around Rheaâs head as your orgasm quickly approached. âCâmon sweet girl, let go.â Rheaâs encouraging words were muffled, your walls clenched around her curling fingers.Â
âFuck Rhea!â You squealed out as the knot that filled your stomach released onto Rheaâs fingers. Your hips twitched into the air as the fingers inside of you helped you ride out your climax.Â
Rhea was grinning ear-to-ear as she slowly pulled her fingers out of your hole. She groaned in pleasure, licking her fingers clean.Â
She soon brought her face to meet yours, her plumped lips giving your jaw a kiss before whispering in your ear.
âHowâs that for an apology, hm?â

show you off | ryu shio
guys, dont worry, your ryu shio fanfic dealer is here
âźď¸SPOILERS FROM RECENT EPISODE!
"Shio," you called as you opened the door of his office, seeing him focused on the contents on his screen. He looked up from the screen as his serious expression turned into a smile, turning in your direction on his chair as you walked to him.
"Yes, love?" Shio asked as he looked at you, his attention completely on you.
"I heard you were going to dinner with your new staff today... teg teg?" You asked as you butchered here name, on accident.
The man in front of you chuckled as he rested his cheek on his palm, "How are you so cute? Do you mean Tseg Tseg? Why, dear?".
You looked around the room as you asked quietly, "Why... I mean, couldn't you just go out with me to dinner? Why ask Tseg Tseg?".
You were slightly jealous, and Shio knew it. It was so obvious, and it pushed him to tease you even more with this new side to your relationship.
"But, I want to go out with Tseg Tseg. Is that wrong?" Shio asked as you turned to look at him, your face offended as you saw his teasing smirk on his face, knowing he completely got you.
Shio patted his lap as he motioned for you to sit on his lap. You sat as he leaned into your ear, whispering, "I want to show you off too, but I need to get the information I need from her and after that, we'll go out everyday until you get sick of me,".
You turned to him, feeling a slight shiver as your eyes locked with his.
"For now, how about you do something for me?" Shio asked as he turned the chair with one of his legs, making the both of you face the computer screen on his table. You were faced with a cctv screenshot from the heritage club Shio had told you he was going to a few days ago.
"I need you to find out who this man is. He said he's the CEO of a subsidary company of Hwang Geum Joo's company, but I'm not buying it. You can do that for me, right, love?" Shio said as he showed you the photo of the man.
You stared at the screen as you sighed, nodding as you muttered, "You know I'd do anything for you and you take advantage of that".
"I wouldn't call it 'taking advantage', but I'd say it's simply to make me feel guilty for keeping you hidden," Shio said as his hand was on your chin, making your eyes connect once again, before the gap between the both of you disappeared within seconds.
"Welcome to the heritage club! I'll be serving you for today. Do follow me!" You said as you looked at Shio and Tseg Tseg, who were in front of you. Tseg Tseg never having met you before. She happily waved at you as you gave her a wide smile, feeling slight anger, watching as Shio smiled at her. Shio was doing it on purpose to distract you. He knew you were capable of finding out information on this man, but what's a mission without a few obstacles?
You held open the door as you motioned for Tseg Tseg and Shio to enter, Shio's hand grazing yours as he walked past you into the room. You entered last as you stood in the corner of the room, waiting for the actual staff to enter with the food.
"This is the assistant that will be helping me for the time being," Shio introduced Tseg Tseg as you scoffed quietly, making sure to not be noticed untim Hwang Geum Joo called you forward.
"Could you leave for a while? I need to speak to them in private," Hwang Geum Joo asked. You were about to leave the room until Shio spoke, "She can stay. She's sworn to secrecy under the heritage club's rules".
Smart, but Hwang Geum Joo wasn't stupid.
"Do you think that just because you have the help of russian mafias that you're unbeatable?" She stated, which caught everyone in that very room off guard. Your eyes widened as you looked at Shio from the corner, watching as his teeth clenched. He was losing his patience, and you were worried. Tseg Tseg placed a hand on his shoulder as Hwang Geum Joo continued, "Pavel? Is it good to have their help?".
You were irritated at Tseg Tseg's action, but you were fearing more for Hwang Geum Joo's life.
"That's out of line. Mr Ryu Shio is a talented man that doesn't need the support of such dirty tricks!" Tseg Tseg responded as you felt relief flooding through your veins. Shio scoffed as Hwang Geum Joo nodded, "Alright. Well, I will not fall for you dirty tricks, and I'll find out the truth".
"Who did she think she is?!" Shio shouted as he threw the things on his desk onto the ground. You were seated behind him on his office chair as you watched him release his anger onto the non-living items in the room.
"She even asked you to leave the room? Who did she think she is, ordering people around and asking you to leave the room?" Shio shouted as he turned, placing a hand on the handles, his face in front of yours as he muttered, "One day, after all this rubbish is over, I'll show you off to everyone and everyone will know you're mine...and I'm yours".
Shio connected your lips as you leaned into him, not wanting to let him go.

ZERO DAY HEADCANONS!! >O<
xoxo @calcyum helped me write some of these go look at his art its so yummy!! literally the loml MWAH
â Cal tells white little harmless lies like, all the time. He doesn't mean to, it just happens
â Example, he says he doesn't like ice cream but he can and will absolutely destroy an entire tub of chocolate icecream in a heartbeat
â Andre burned the shirt he got called a faggot in the bonfire before Zero Day.
â Cal's half Russian, his bio dad lives in the European half of Russia.
â They both call Mel, "Mel Bell" or "Melanie Bellanie"
â Andre played softball when he was little.
â He quit because he got hit really hard in the head by a bat.
â Cal's a total metalhead. He has a ton of diff band tee's, but he's never gone to a concert.
â Andre has especially sharp canines!! (Feeding into Dogdre propaganda/j)
â Cal is a chronic doodler. If he and Andre are sitting next to eachother and Cal has a pen or sharpie in his grasp, Andres getting a whole SLEEVE of silly little doodles all over his arm.
â he's also a stick n poke master, he's got little tatoos littering his ankles.
â Andre is a left handed shooter, right handed writer..... Cal is the opposite.
â Andre is a polyglot!! He forgets words in English and has to try to convey what he's trying to say to Cal in literally any other language he can think of. (Never works.)
â This makes him so unbelievably mad.
â Cal watched Duckman growing up.
â He introduced it to his siblings and they used to all watch it together!! TRUST!!
â Andre watched M*A*S*H growing up...
â Cal knows how to play a few diff instruments, other than a guitar and sitar.
â Violin, piano, trumpet, all that good stuff.
â There's definitely a few holes in the basement walls of Andreâs house. He'll swear it wasn't him. (It was.)
â Cal is very awkward with love in general. He'd be an... okay boyfriend, but he would NOT pay enough attention to his partner because he'd be too busy hanging out with Andre.
â Andre 100% grew up on older fashioned values with new fashioned eyes iykwim. He'd treat his partner with the utmost respect, but he'd also have the same problem as Cal. He wouldn't pay much attention to them.
â (A personal fave) Cal and Andre have matching dog tags!
â Before their final scene in Zero Day, Cal and Andre decided to switch dog tags with eachother. (fags..)
â Andre got a little teddy bear as a birthday present when he was itty bitty, and kept it. He's wayy to embarrassed to show anybody.
â Cal found it one day and Andre nearly lost his shit.
â Cal often meows or hums in response when talking to Rachel or Andre when he doesn't feel like actually speaking.
â Stealing this from another post (I can't find creds rn i am SO sorry), Cal's siblings absolutely love Andre. He's like their other older brother.
â Andre loves them just the same, he's such a good big brother. :(
â Cal's sister paints both Cal's and Andreâs nails, and makes them attend her tea parties with her stuffed animals.
â Mel follows Andre around the house wherever he goes. There's literally not a second when she's not behind him.
â She gets jealous of Cal whenever he's too close to Andre.
â Andre and Cal share a bed everytime they spend the night with eachother.
â They totally spoon but like hell they'd ever admit that.
these were so fun to write guys ty again ml MWAUGHH

Kou never mistakes Hanako for a human, and I find that interesting.
He heard about Amane from Nene, who had front roll seats to his past and gained an intimate wake up call that "Hanako is not a 'magic being' from a fantasy book, he was a student, who is now dead"
His death is not a conflict for Kou though, is just who he is. He is well aware the ghost is dead, so what Nene shares isn't a revelation, is just small pieces of the puzzle that is Hanako: the understanding he used to study here.
Kou has no real link to Amane, he never met the guy. Even when explicitly talking about Amane, Kou has no mental image of this 13-year-old who killed his own brother, he can only picture Hanako, the ghost.
Kou doesn't interact with 'Amane' in Picture Perfect either, the very few interactions they have are super short, and always started by Hanako in his Amane disguise.
The one time Kou approaches him is because 'Amane' was carrying an unconscious Nene, so he gets curious, and shows that he doesn't trust him.
But when he learns it's Hanako, he is delighted. It doesn't matter that Mitsuba is acting weird, and that he still didn't get any answers, cause is Hanako! Hanako his buddy!
He never had a wish for Hanako to be alive, to be his classmate, so he doesn't feel any desperate attachment to the idea of 'Yugi Amane' like he did with the idea of 'Mitsuba Sousuke' only ever seeing him as a wrong version of Hanako from the start. Is not real, so of course he doesn't trust him.
His view of Hanako cannot be separated from him being a ghost.
Hanako is the one who properly introduced Kou to the world of supernaturals and served as an informant on the Far Shore when Teru kept him in the dark. He teaches Kou about rumors, boundaries, supernatural festivals, and introduces him to the complex feelings some of the dead may have about lingering on the Near Shore.
There are two main mentalities Kou has when it comes to Hanako, the first is 'I don't know enough about Hanako to tell if he is a threat, he is so weird, I want to learn about him' The second is 'he helps me and Nene. He looks after us, he is our friend.' and usually he focuses on the second.
But the "i need to gauge if he is a threat" mentality is just as important as his attachment to Hanako.
It's what makes him keep an eye on him and occasionally act like a judge, trying to figure out what is going on with him, which is a hard task.
Hanako does a lot of good and bad things to Kou.
He sealed his exorcist staff, which debilitates him through basically the whole manga, but he helps and saves him and Nene when called, he lies and is selfish, but he seems to only lie for silly things or what Hanako seems to believe is the greater good (the tears eye drops, Nene's lifespan). He seems guilty and burdened by his murder but he did murder someone. He is important to Nene, he is important to Kou, and so on.
Is too much to keep track of. Too hard to give a judgment.
So he focus on his feelings way more than logic, and he is very inclined to have a positive view of Hanako. He wants Hanako to be good. To be a friend.
He does notice his slimy behavior and he does change his perception of Hanako, slowly understanding him better and growing more wary of what he says, more careful when trying to read him.
But his doubts aren't nearly as heavy as his hopes for Hanako: He believes he wants the best for them.
If we go back to the scene where Nene is talking about Amane, there is something she says that sticks with Kou, something that immediately catches his attention "Maybe I shouldn't be his friend"
Unlike his death, this is a conflict Kou relates to.
He is making donuts for Hanako as they speak, absorbing everything he learns about the guy and using the information to help Hanako because he wants to cheer up Hanako.
Hanako being important to Nene is important to Kou. They are a group to him, and he isn't alone in his uncertainty.
Kou keep this mentality of just doing what he wants for a while, childish as it is, but slowly, he is forced to give Hanako more thought, to take him seriously.
His view on Hanako has been tipping to the negative recently. He always knew about Hanako being strange and full of secrets but he can't dismiss it anymore, since the ghost started lying about big things, like trapping Nene in a fake world and exchanging Aoi's lifespan for hers without Nene's consent. Is not like his usual avoidance and silly lies, he is getting harmful.
Hanako gave Kou plenty of glimpses into his more 'inhuman' mentality. He has shown Kou a lot of hints that pratically scream "Stop trusting me kid."
It piles up.
It becomes harder to know what is a lie. What isn't. What is okay and what shouldn't be forgiven.
Kou keeps trying to understand him and give him the benefit of the doubt , he truly doesn't want to believe Hanako is just an 'evil spirit' after everything they've been through. He is a supernatural but he is his teacher and friend too, that got to mean something.
But he doesn't have a clear answer. He can think as hard as he want, he still has no idea what is going on inside Hanako's head, he just wants to believe is something for Nene's sake. Because even if he isn't sure what Hanako thinks of him, he wants to believe he wants Nene to be happy, that his care for her is strong and genuine.
Besides the conflict between "he is an apparition, he is a friend" There is also the way Kou is dependent on Hanako.
Hanako is extremely helpful, he gives him all the answers related to supernaturals. Even when Kou didn't trust Hanako, the ghost already took the role of 'the guide' in the group, offering Kou something he always wanted: Information on supernaturals. A ticket to be part of a world Kou had always wanted to be part of, but his brother had sheltered him from.
Kou always goes to Hanako when he is in trouble. Regardless of how shady he acts, Hanako always helps.
So when he tells Kou he is incompetent, it gives him a wake up call.
Kou always had an inferiority complex, but this puts into perspective how he relies a lot on Hanako. He doesn't solve anything by himself, he either follows Hanako's lead, or faces a dead end.
Kou has a lot to think about after that. He doesn't want to keep relying on Hanako, he wants to take action himself, to be something that doesn't follow Hanako or Teru's lead.
He focuses mostly on Mitsuba, convinced the supernatural needs him, but also goes back to the promise he made with Teru.
This 'what do you want to do?' moment gives insight into a lot of relationships, but I'll only focus on what it says about Kou's view of Hanako here.
Kou is usually very sweet with Nene, but he is direct to the point of being cold here, he calls Hanako "The evil spirit of a murderer" as he had when he first met him all the way back in chap 3, It feels like an ultimatum. A judgment.
Hanako is dangerous, he needs to exorcise him. Part of him wants to exorcise Hanako. But he doesn't want to exorcise his teacher, his friend.
This brings me to his wish on the Red House.
Before talking about his wish I want to point out what his wish isnât: Kou doesnât want Hanakoâs help, advise or support. He doesnât want Hanako to give up on trying to help nene either, so he is still depends on Hanako's actions to save Nene to some extent, he doesn't believe he can do it himself, nor does he want the pressure of being believed.
He wants Hanako to be a problem thatâs easy to deal with, an evil spirit thatâs undeniably evil.
Things would be much easier if Kou could exorcise him: It would prove it to himself, teru, and Hanako that he can be an exorcist, it would eliminate any possible anxiety about what Hanako will do next, and it would give Hanako what he wants, Kou wouldn't disappoint him again.
When he pictures Hanako, he is happy and sweet looking, almost innocent. He may have decided he need to exorcise Hanako at some point, that is the right thing, but he doesn't really... want him gone.
He consistently has exorcism in mind when it comes to Hanako post-severance, but he also consistently pictures him happy and friendly. .
"I want to be a bigger help" implies he wants to work with Hanako, so the two help Nene instead of him being the sole person in charge of her lifespan, which is a big big difference from his self-destructive desperation to be the one to help Mitsuba.
"I need to get to the point where I can exorcise him." As it is, Kou does not believe he can exorcise him. He realizes he should, but also that he can't.
What he says when he fights Teru fits into that.
He doesn't agree with Hanako, and he denies the idea that he is doing this for Hanako, choosing to focus on his bond with Nene instead of his exorcism dilemma.
He and Nene have a simple camaraderie he can rely on, a mutual lack of understanding of what to do, but even this more 'safe' decision to be on her side instead of trying to keep discovering his own path got Kou the same reprimand Hanako had given him "You have big ideas but you can't back it up."
Both of the people he looks up to give him guidance told him he is useless. He can not fully relate to exorcists, or supernaturals, the path he is carving for himself, his beliefs, are unclear, easily shaken, and likely useless.
He still wants to be an exorcist, deep down, delighted when Teru gave him a chance. But he can't be an exorcist. Not when he thinks so much about the supernatural, unable to reject them but unable to truly understand or relate to them either.
It makes me sad that Aidairo pushed Kou and Hanako's situation aside, cause they still have a lot to explore, yet all we got recently is these crumbs:
Kou is keeping his eyes on Hanako, his attitude half "I am your friend, I care about you", half "I don't trust you anymore, don't scheme again, bastard" but they don't have meaningful talks with each other anymore.
Hanako will save Kou if he sees him in danger, I'm sure. And Kou will do the same. But their trust is... shaky... and they will never talk about it. Kou won't share that he wants but can't exorcise Hanako and Hanako won't share how much he values Kou. They won't seek each other for help either. Both will slowly yet consistently focus on someone else instead, like a weirdly passive attempt at detachment.
So I have no hope for more meaningful interaction between them. Not anytime soon at least... Is truly a shame.
#i know no one cares about them anymore but it's something to pass the time while the chapter is being translated... I guess#ngl I didn't go very in dept... 15 years of Dan & Phil - Major Arcana
It struck me that there has been 15 years since Dan and Phil met and my little goose brain connected that to the devil card number 15 (symbolised in dnpcrafts video) and so now you get a large post of me analysing year by year dnp in the major arcana.
DISCLAIMER: this is just for fun and because i am a silly jester who needed to feel joy while on video call with a friend. do not take any of this seriously, i am just a goofy guy with an internet connection and too much time.
The Fool - 0
we start at the fool, 2009.
"The Fool is young and vulnerable. He has not yet experienced the ups and downs of life, leaving him unaware of the magnitude of life's challenges, as well as the potential he holds. When The Fool comes up in a Tarot reading, you are encouraged to take on his open, willing energy and embrace all that lies ahead of you without worry."
The year dnp meet. The start of the journey. The fool is considered the main character of the Major arcana journey. Thus Dan and Phil are the main characters of this story, their story.
Both unaware of what the future holds for them, their life⢠was only just at conception. I feel like this one is very self explanatory in context of them just having met, we as the audience are just introduced to the concept of Dan and Phil.
The fool energy (open, willing) is especially evident in videos like PINOF 1 and The Interactive Christmas Adventure where their silliness, and creativity really shine. This is an era of open, easy (almost naive) energy.
The Magician - 1
The year is 2010...
"The Magician card is a reminder that you are unique and have many gifts. These skills set you apart from the crowd and can help you begin new projects or overcome adversity. When The Magician comes up in your Tarot reading, it's a reminder that you already hold everything you need to move forward and accomplish what you've set out to do."
The year of Dan moving to Manchester and starting his Law Degree and Phil getting his flat in Manchester, PINOF2, Jamaica trip, and the conception of the forbidden video. We also have creative bangers such as "the inflatable lion of destiny", 'Blindfolded Catface Game', 'Dan and Phil get down' and 'The TREE'.
The boys are creating core parts of the Dan and Phil universe without knowing it. Together they have all the ingredients needed (see in the card imagery; the wand, cup, pentacle and sword) to create a fanbase and a successful career.
The High Priestess - 2
2011 baybeeeeee
"The most intuitive, connected card in the whole Tarot deck, The High Priestess is a card of awareness. This card urges you to listen to your inner voice and follow your instincts. Your mind knows far more than you think. When this card arises in your Tarot reading, stop looking for answers in the outside world. Turn within for the guidance you seek."
We have the Manchester apartmentâ˘, PINOF 3, the forbidden video leak and the first radio show. The relation to this, to me, really comes up in the forbidden video response. Having to turn inwards, the boys became insular, guarded and a wall was really put up between them and the audience to protect themselves. We can't speak to exactly what was happening for them internally and only make our assumptions based on what they outwardly expressed at the time.
The Empress - 3
2012
"The Empress is the most feminine card in the Tarot, and greatly encourages compassion, beauty, and love. She is deeply connected to Mother Nature, and her influence is powerful when you absorb the energy of the natural world around you."
"This supreme archetype of femininity also symbolizes fertility. It is The Empress who provides us nourishment and security. She is also sometimes seen as delighting us with flowers and fruit."
We have entered younow era. They also move to London this year, Dan officially drops out of uni, we get PINOF 4 and a second radio show. We also have the iconic tweet 'FYI i like vagina'. This year is known for being a difficult year in the Phandom. It has a reputation for 'no homo howell' and generally the boys being more reserved and insular with what and how they shared their lives.
In relation to The Empress card I think we can draw particularly on security. We know they had a stalking problem at the London apartment - a threat to their physical security, fans being hectic about their sexualities (particularly Dan) - a threat to their privacy. We also have Dan getting an influx of 'are you gay' on younow and having to reassert his ' straightness' lends itself to the femininity of this card. He had to play straight in order to keep himself safe. This card being for 2012 when we know they really withdrew from sharing themselves with us is quite the oxymoron but despite the withdrawing of their sharing with the audience we know they still had great success (got their flowers) in the coming years.
The Emperor - 4
2013
"The Emperor is a card of leadership and power. He is an authoritative force who has been through many experiences to achieve this status. He represents structure and solidity, and reminds you that you, too, hold immense amounts of power over your own life, and what happens to it."
THE BRITISH VLOGGER BOOM IS UPON US. The boys have gone through some shit⢠at this point and are starting to establish themselves as Entertainers. They are on the grind, they are moving in the direction of establishing themselves as entertainers/presenters in the mainstream space marked by the beginning of the request radio show. Their Youtube numbers climb as does their power in the online world. As for them holding power over their own lives, I know Dan has mentioned not feeling in control of things like his audience at this point. But I think this card speaks to them really gaining control over their future career wise as a duo - even if they didn't fully see themselves as such yet.
We also have the Charlie Skies twitter fiasco this year - another threat to their privacy. Through this Dan in particular had to trust in the power he had over his own narrative in redirecting attention and deflecting Charlie's online attacks. He blocked him and protected his peace and as a result not a whole lot of the phandom knows about this beef. Dan and Phil are nothing if not good at diversion, distraction and hiding things from the internet (good for them).
The Hierophant - 5
2014
"The Hierophant is like a messenger from the heavens. He is experienced in spirituality and guidance, and his job is to bring these lessons down to us here in the real world. When The Hierophant comes up in your Tarot reading, you're encouraged to follow the rules, and to find a spiritual perspective on your current situation."
"Before him kneel two followers. The Hierophantâs task is to pass down his spiritual wisdom and initiate the two into the church so they can take up their appointed roles. This imagery speaks to a shared group identity and a rite of passage to enter the next level. The crossed keys at The Hierophantâs feet represent the balance between the conscious and subconscious minds and the unlocking of mysteries, which only he can teach."
This year brings us the first Brit awards hosting, the radio show transitioning to the Internet Takeover, Dan and Phil Games and the channels continuing to grow. This card in particular I think relates to them and their relation to the BBC. In this card they are the two people in front of the Hierophant, learning and having knowledge bestowed upon them. This was a year of developing their careers into a new phase of mainstream TV palatability. Dan and Phil are stepping into previously unchartered spaces for just a couple of guys on the internet.
The Lovers - 6
2015
"The Lovers card represents the close relationships in your life. If it comes up in your Tarot reading, your love life is in need of extra attention. However, this is just as much a card about your values and decisions. You may find The Lovers come up when you are at a crossroads. Consider all the possible consequences of your choices."
Significant events this year include; TABINOF, TATINOF, Dan and Phil crafts, Japhan part 1, Brit Awards hosting and the channels growing. Japhan happening this year with the lovers card showing up is very sweet. Dan and Phil knew they had big events coming up for them in their lives so they carved out space for them to enjoy existing together by going to Japan.
We also know that at this point Dan and Phil were looking to move on from the TV Host type of space they found themselves in with the BBC. A crossroads of where they wanted to take the world of Dan and Phil⢠. That gave way to TABINOF and TAINOF, stepping into an unknown space of Youtubers doing stuff in the real world once again. Phil mentioned in his video, 'Draw my LIfe 2' that they really had to trust that this was the correct move for them. A crossroads where they had to consider the consequences when investing their money into TABINOF and TATNIOF.
The Chariot - 7
2016
"The Chariot card is connected to your natural drive and determination, and can indicate an upcoming victory. This card reminds you that your greatest successes won't come through limited thinking -- when you combine the knowledge of your mind with that of your heart and spirit, you are an unstoppable force."
This year brought alot of reaping on benefits of putting trust in the crossroads that the Lovers card presented. We see the end of the Internet Takeover, the final Brit Awards hosting and the end of the TATINOF era. They combined their mind, heart and spirit and came out successful, winning 4 awards this year and having the huge success of TATINOF. They didn't allow themselves to be limited (by the BBC) and they succeeded. So, if they could achieve a world tour and a best selling book on their own... well what could come next??
Strength - 8
2017
"The Strength card represents courage, the fortitude of your heart, and your ability to withstand anything life hands you. If this card arises in your Tarot reading, you are reminded that you're strong enough to handle whatever you are facing and will come out of it with even more power than you had before."
This year, the boys move to their new London apartment (the fake apartment), Interactive Introverts is announced, Dan goes curly and the end of danisnotonfire branding.
We know from the video 'Dan and Phil Finally Tell the Truth' that Dan had begun to realise he couldn't stay in the closet any longer, which led to his mini breakdown on the balcony. He stated that he was worried if they went on tour with introverts he was going to have a very public meltdown. We also got the video 'Daniel and Depression'. Between the two of these things we can see how the strength card really came into play this year.
Phil has also talked about how they didn't know how they were going to get everything done this year. With Introverts tour looming, they were inundated with work and they really had to grin and bare through it. They had to trust their strength as a duo that they would come through this time together.
The Hermit - 9
2018
"The Hermit yearns to be alone. He knows that the only way to process what is happening in life is to withdraw from the noise of the world and create a quiet space of solitude. When The Hermit comes up in your reading, the answers you need will come from within. Be very still, and listen..."
This year is the year of the Interactive Introverts tour, the final PINOF, the gaming channel hiatus and Dan's video 'trying to live my truth'. The Hermit coming up in a year of them going into hiatus, is just very nail on the god damn head. I mean what card could be more relevant? It seems so self explanatory, I don't even know what to say.
The boys had to turn inward once again to assess where to go next in their careers. They talk about pausing to take stock of what they have done and where they will go.
Dan took a huuuuuge step back to go inwards and process everything he had been holding in and pushing through in the previous years as they were so busy with their career building. This was a year where they gave themselves permission to slow down and finally look inward for where to go next. This introversion beginning is seen at the start of 2018 in Dan's 'Trying to Live My Truth' video.
We also have Phil with his dizzy spells during this year meaning there was less amazingphil content. This could also be seen as an introversion. He had to slow down his public career of take care of himself and focus on his health.
The Wheel of Fortune - 10
2019
"The Wheel of Fortune is constantly revolving -- sometimes you will be at the top, and sometimes you will be at the bottom. This Tarot card reminds you that nothing is permanent, and, good or bad, you must cherish the lessons that this moment is bringing you."
"Good luck, karma, life cycles, destiny, a turning point"
Bare with me while I desperately try to refrain from top and bottom jokes due to the concision of the wheel of fortune card and dnp coming out in the same year. But truly this card represents a turning point and a destiny fulfilment. If BIG and COTY are not a destiny fulfilment and turning point then I don't know what is! The boys are living their truth, they are moving into a new era.
Justice - 11
2020
"Justice is your firm-but-fair reminder that there is a consequence for every action. Whatever life is handing you at this moment comes from decisions you and others have made in the past, reflecting natural cause-and-effect. When this card comes up in your Tarot reading, make sure you are acting fairly in all your interactions with others."
Libra card!!!! This year we have covid hitting, a quiet year for content all round. We have the stereo shows starting up at the end of the year along with the phouse announcement. This year also featured Steve the pigeon (pigeon fest/rescuing a pigeon video).
When we look at cause and effect, the phouse is what comes to mind. They worked themselves so hard in the years previous and they were able to buy and design their forever home. The cause and effect of them coming out is also seen in their ability to be open with the audience that they are continuing to not only live together but purchase and build property together. If they had not come out, things like buying a house together would've raised so many more questions and possibly caused more issues for them and their privacy (fan speculation). This new era really hinged on them coming out and setting themselves up as an ambiguous couple. In this case the cause and effect really benefitted them.
The Hanged Man - 12
2021
"The Hanged Man tells you that sometimes small sacrifices are required to benefit the bigger picture. When The Hanged Man arises in your reading, you likely want to make a move but don't know where to begin. Lightening your grip on what's no longer working for you, or detaching from the outcome of your situation, can help you release yourself."
This year gives us the first joint video since 2018 in the form of 'something we want to tell you'. This marks Dan's return to being perceived online. Subsequently we have the book release in May, YWGTTN, and they move into the somewhat uncompleted phouse.
We get many iconic videos this year showing a shift in their on camera dynamic - a loosening grip on the wall they built up with the audience during the early years. They let us in on alot more of those moments that drive us absolutely insane, the smiles were off the charts and we started eating good again. They have begun trusting the audience with more of their authentic selves and silly dynamic. In Phil's recent video where he looks at old profile pics, he talks fondly about the silly icon pic from him and Dan during lockdown.
I think the sentiment of no longer caring what people think is really echoed in this years content. The boys are self assured and care less about what people have to say because they are successful and have nothing to hide.
The hanged man is shown in this loosening grip on hiding parts of themselves and allowing themselves to trust the audience more knowing that whatever the outcome they have each other and that in enough.
Death - 13
2022
"One of the most misunderstood Tarot cards, Death is not a card about physical death. The Death card speaks of cycles and is a reminder that all things must pass. Hanging on to situations from the past will hinder you from allowing new, better things to enter your life. In every ending lies a chance for a new beginning."
wad year/DD/wiqy
What can I say. Death card for WAD year? It just makes sense. A year where Dan and Phil spent the most time apart since they met in 2009, taking a break from the cycle of their everyday life.
We also got Dan's WIQY video, again reflecting on the last few years and essentially announcing his burn out. Giving up on being Youtube's 'golden boy' by speaking his mind about how he was effected by circumstances beyond his control.
Then we have WAD. The show being reflective of his past and the future for the earth. This year truly felt like a rebirth for Dan specifically. He was back on the internet, Dystopia Daily, being able to openly make gay jokes. He went back out into the world and found meaning in existence again. And once that meaning was obtained, he went back to Phil. A new beginning in how they both show up online, unapologetically themselves.
Temperance - 14
2023
"The Temperance card is a master of moderation. She encourages peace and patience, and reminds you to go with the flow of your life instead of trying to force its pace or direction. When Temperance turns up in your Tarot reading, it is a message to take things as they come, and remain flexible enough to change with the changes."
2023 brought us more DD, end of WAD, The 3rd Japhan trip, the Phude, and the return of the gaming channel.
This is a year of things slowly going back to routine for DnP. Dan comes back from tour, they go on holiday to Japan. Up until the gaming channel coming off hiatus 2023 was seemingly a chill flux and flow for dnp. The flow (this is a water heavy card) of their life returned to normal.
While DnP certainly didn't make this comeback with moderation (leaping straight into spooky week and then gamingmas as well as merch drops) they wouldn't have come back without a serious plan to keep their workaholic tendency's in check.
The Devil - 15
2024
"The Devil card carries themes of restraint and powerlessness. When it comes up in your Tarot reading, you are likely feeling stuck. The Devil has convinced you that you have no options, but this couldn't be further from the truth. You hold the keys to your own freedom, but it's up to you to open the lock."
So we all know the crafty video from this year has direct symbolism to the devil card. There have been many great analyses between the two so I won't go into that as much here. But what I will say is that I see this card for this year as an unshackling of themselves. We see them far more open and willing to trust the audience to be in on the joke rather than and us vs. them situation of the 2012 era. So rather than them feeling stuck I believe this symbolises them no longer being stuck and stepping into their most honest selves while still maintaining their boundaries.
That concludes my wee dive into dnp lore and how it relates to the major arcana. I am not someone with a huge amount of knowledge on tarot (just a wee bit from my own experience of doing a card read every so often but certainly not someone who has ever studied tarot), so if you are big on tarot absolutely chime in and add to this!! I am also so sure I missed dnp lore but hey I did what I could! Also big ty to @boardgamedanny for being on video call with me for 2 days in a row to suggest things and pipe in and also distract me horrendously. Also biiig thanku to my friend, Peter, who isn't on here but sparked this whole thing, with their tarot knowledge and my dnp brain encyclopedia.

A Lesson in Listening
Summary: Grian's brother is moving to town and staying with him while he house hunts. While introducing him to his friend, however, Jimmy and Tango seem to make quite a connection. Determined not to suffer through the pining, Grian and Impulse attempt to play matchmaker.
Ships: Grian & Impulse(Platonic), Jimmy/Tango (Romantic), ZITS (Platonic), Grian & Jimmy (Familial)
Warnings: mild acephobia, verbal fight, sibling bullying, misunderstandings, relationship meddling
If Grian was good at one thing, it was connecting people. Not to be a braggart, but he was a sociable sort who was good at reading people, made new friends with ease, and led the pecking order in his circles. It was his great talent, really. One of many.
âHumility not being among them, clearly.â
âShush.â Grian hissed, whipping his head around to glare daggers into Impulse. The stout man returned it with his trademark innocent smile, as if Grian didnât know what went on in the head behind it. âYouâre distracting me.â
Impulse chuckled. âWhatâs there to distract from?â
âIâll have you know mixing friend groups is a very delicate process!â Grian explained, holding his phone to show the opened notepad doc. âInviting the wrong person could be the difference between success and disaster.â
âI think youâre overthinking things, G. Anyone whoâd get along with you will probably get along with your brother.â
Therein lied the problem, though. Jimmy was nothing like Grian. Okay, well, nothing was a bit of a strong word. Jimmy was extroverted and sociable like Grian, and they both had a fondness for mischief and cats. And maybe Jimmy was the first person Grian always invited to karaoke night when he was in town, because no one else was quite as enthusiastic as they were. But other than that they were nothing alike! For one, unlike Grian, Jimmy was a massive loser.
âThatâs a bit rude.â
Grian squawked. âWould you please stop reading my mind!â
âYou should stop speaking your mind, then.â Impulse shrugged and returned to scrolling through his phone. Grian had assigned him the task of picking out the venue for the night out, being far more familiar with the town than Grian. He paused, âYou might as well monologue, I know you want to.â
âI donât monologue! Iâm not Scar.â Another name was struck out on the list. Doc was angry at him right now, anyways. âI just want things to go well, can I not be excited that Tim is moving closer? Iâve barely got to see him more than once every other month for the past several years! By the way, we canât-â
âCanât eat red meat so make sure thereâs other options, yeah, I know.â A large hand patted down on Grianâs head, ruffling his hair.
He pouted, falling back into the cushions of his couch. âI feel like you do not appreciate the skill needed to coordinate you people. Itâs like herding cats, you know.â
âWhy do you think we leave it to you?â Impulse leaned over Grianâs shoulder. âWho you got so far, anyways?â
âYou, Scar, Gem, and Cleo. Mostly people heâs met before at least.â
A curious hum filled the air and Grian patiently waited for whatever idea was brewing in Impulseâs head. There were a few taps to his screen, then, âYou think Tango can come?â
âTango?â Grianâs eyebrow quirked up. âIsnât he hauled up in his basement working on some game right now?â While most certainly a good friend, Tango was one Grian went almost just as long without seeing as his brother half a dayâs drive away, despite being a street away. Once he had an idea he would dedicate himself to it until it was done.
Impulse sighed. âYeah. Zed was able to get him outside for an hour last week, and he went on some business trip for a bit, but he also hasnât eaten in like two days last I checked. Itâd be good excuse to drag him out. Heâs gonna forget what real people sound like outside his headphones if we donât.â
âI honestly donât know how he expects to survive if he moves out from you guys.â
âI already made him promise to give me a set of spare keys when he does.â
Grian tilted his head as he stared at his last message to the man in question. Something about a crazy idea for a remote-controlled cat toy he thought of. In all honesty it wasnât the worst idea. Not the cat toy- Tango was a strong personality who left a big impression, but he was always polite. Certainly much more introverted than everyone else going, but not nearly as bad as Zed. At least, when he remembered to leave his basement. It couldnât do them any harm. At the very worst he could sit in the corner and chatter with Impulse. âYeah, sure, letâs invite him.â He said, already typing.Â
Impulse gave a thumbs up. âTell him weâre gonna go to that barbeque place he loves, thatâll get him.â
âI said-â
âThey have plenty of chicken and even vegetarian options, I double checked. Itâs right across from the bowling alley, too. And call him, donât text, or heâll never see it.â
It was a small miracle Tango agreed to go. It was a small miracle he answered his phone at all. The mention of barbeque worked, though. How much of the rest of the evening they could convince him to stick around for had yet to be seen, but Grian was hopeful heâd stay a little while at least.
Impulse could deal with Tango, though. Right now, Grian had his hands full with Jimmy. They were running ten minutes behind because his poor little brother couldnât bear going a day without a bubble bath. âCâmon, Tim, get in the car!â He shouted from the window.
Jimmy stumbled in, nearly dropping his phone between the seats in the process. âIâm hurrying, Iâm hurrying, I just had to send a text. I thought this was supposed to be fun?â He whined. The second his door was closed Grian began driving, not waiting for him to get his seatbelt in. He was so tall and lanky heâd just smash his head through the glass whether he had one on or not, anyways.
âItâs called punctuality, Timmy. Something the hosts should have!â
âAlright, I get it.â He slumped back into his seat, caving as he always did. It must be hard, having an older brother who was always right. Of course, it was much harder being said brother, as Grian could attest.
The car ride was quiet, only the radio filling the space while Grian worked to remember where he needed to go. Jimmy was the first to break the silence, âSo, Iâve scheduled some tours for this week.â
Grian hummed. âAnything promising?â
âActually yeah.â He chirped, pulling out his phone. Before he could shove it in Grianâs face he put his hand up. Itâd only been a month since he rear-ended a Toyota, and heâll be damned if he hit someone else. The last thing his friends needed was to reignite the jokes about him being too short to see over the dashboard. Jimmy made a whine but didnât try again. âThereâs a place not far out of town in the farmlands. Itâs small and old, but itâs an actual house with over half an acre.â
âI dunno why you care so much about land. A condo downtown is way better.â
âItâs nice, isnât it? I could have a garden.â
âI guess.â The obnoxiously large sign for the barbeque glared high above the trees and buildings around it just up ahead. âOh, weâre already here. Should be mostly people you met before, by the way.â
âThatâs fine.â
Pulling into the parking lot, Grian could already see Impulseâs minivan and Cleoâs beat up old car. He clicked his tongue as he pulled up next to them. âSee! I told you we were late, everyoneâs already here.â
âOh, come off it, they probably just got here, itâs fine.â
It was not fine, the host should always be first, but he wouldnât expect Jimmy to understand. The two squabbled all the way inside, only stopping to tell the waiter their booking. A nice large table on the patio already had most of Grianâs friends sitting around, still having yet to be served even drinks. Everyone but Tango despite his phone, unmistakable with its Guy Fieri case, on the table. Bathroom, maybe? He was always terrible about going before he left. Scar was the first to spot them. âG! Timmy! Youâre here!â
âThat we are.â Grian mumbled and turned to Impulse. âWhereâs-â
âHey, Grian, just in time!â The scratchy voice of Tango shouted too-loudly behind them. He saw Jimmy jump, and both brothers swivelled on their heels. Tango jolted back a bit, friendly wave shrinking to his side at the reaction. His eyes grew wide, locking with Jimmyâs which mirrored him like two deer caught in headlights. âOh!â He squeaked unintentionally.
It jogged Jimmy out of his fright enough to look away, though Grian took suspicious note of the redness of his ears. He gave his baby brother a raised eyebrow, but he didnât seem to see it.
âRight, well, Tango, Cleo, this is my brother, Ti-â
âItâs Jimmy.â Jimmy jumped in at lightning speed, holding his hand out for Tango to shake with a wide smile. âThe nameâs Jimmy.â Tango hesitated for a second, before tentatively shaking back with an equally tentative smile.
âTango, of the Tek variety. Nice to finally meet you.â
âI thought you said your brother was Tim?â Cleo asked.
Impulse scratched at his bread. âHonestly, I thought it was.â
âItâs not, my nameâs Jimmy. Donât trust anything this man says, heâs a menace.â Jimmy huffed, which got far too enthusiastic an agreement from nearly the whole table for Grianâs liking. Behind him, Tango snuck around back to the table. In a baffling move, as far as Grian was concerned, he paused at the empty chair across from his own and pulled it out. He nodded towards Jimmy, who muttered a sheepish thanks. Grian narrowed his eyes at the engineer, but he seemed to be pointedly not looking at him. A shared look from Impulse, though, let him know he wasnât the only one who took notice.
âWell, then, Jimmy, itâs a pleasure to meet you.â Cleo reached over the table, offering their hand.
Chatter very quickly picked itself up once they were all sat down. Most was directed towards Jimmy, asking what he did and the places he was looking at and how on earth did he get his hair that perfect. It was a bit awkward with him sitting at the end. Given the middle seat where Grian now sat was also empty, he suspected Tangoâs little gentlemanâs stunt had messed up the seating arrangement Impulse intentionally left.Â
It wasnât the last. When their drinks came Tango had ordered some crazy bright red fruity slushy monstrosity like he was on vacation or something. For him it might as well be. Something that brightly coloured, with a fruit skewer at that, was basically tempting the gods as far as Jimmy was concerned, who looked more dazzled by it than the already bright blue drink he ordered. Only a sip had been taken before Tango was nudging it towards him, asking, âWanna try?â Which he wholeheartedly accepted.
Honestly, between that and the conversation somehow always managing to close into a back and forth between the pair, Grian wanted to gag. Did his brother have absolutely no shame? Or maybe Grian was just bitter he had to order something lighter as their driver. It was at least funny to watch Scar also ask for a sip and be completely ignored.
A large platter was ordered over individual meals. It was just easier, when everyone wanted to try this and that. Astonishingly, it was probably the first time Grian had witnessed Tango eat a vegetable, when he tried one of the skewers the brothers ordered on the side. That was the power of good barbeque, he supposed.
They finally called it after Gem won the third round of bowling in a row. Grian tapped against the open door of his car, glaring holes in the back of his brotherâs head, who was too busy saying goodbye to Tango to notice. âCome ooon Tim!â He finally shouted after the third obnoxious little giggle they shared. When he turned, Grian narrowed his eyes. You ainât subtle. The pair finally said goodbye for real, and Jimmy ran to get in the car before Grian decided to drive off without him. Heâd barely gotten his seatbelt on before he was furiously typing something on his phone. Really?
âSo, how was it?â Grian asked.
âIt was fun, your friends seem cool.â Was the distracted response.
âMhmâŚâ He leaned closer over his shoulder. âAnd how was Tango?â
If it was possible to jump out of oneâs skin then Jimmy had jumped out of his skin, muscles, and bones. âHuh?â He squeaked, face red and eyes bugged. Grian only returned it with an unimpressed eye roll.
âOh please. You nearly dropped a bowling ball on your foot while swooning.â
âWell⌠Heâs a cool guy, isnât he?â
And that shut Grian up. More efficiently than he would like to admit. He expected Jimmy to deny it, or be too flustered to say much of anything. When Grian failed to reply Jimmy went back to his phone, tapping away with a smile. There was that obnoxious giggle again.
This was not one of the issues Grian anticipated having when his brother told him he was moving.Â
âSo, how do we set them up?â
Impulse Hummed, spending far too long reading the contents of a can of cream of mushroom like it wasnât the same can he always bought. âWho?â
â Who? â Grian mocked back. âTim and Tango!â
âDo we need to?â Three more cans joined the first, before they moved on to the broths. Grian threw the bouillon in the cart before his companion could grab a carton that would languish in the back of his fridge. âThey seem to be doing fine on their own.â
âNo, trust me. I know Tim. He was literally living with his last boyfriend before he realized they were dating and that he liked him. Heâs an idiot.â
âAnd Tango hasnât exactly been leaving the basement much lately.â Impulse conceded, grabbing a carton of pho broth anyways. Acceptable, Grian supposed.
âSo, then, any ideas?â
They paused before entering the next aisle. The larger manâs face twisted in thought. âWell, we could invite him to D&D, run a oneshot, and have their characters drink a love potion until they get the hint.â
âThat sounds like a terrible idea, absolutely not.â He wrote it down in his phone for a future session.
âAnother dinner?â
âWhat are the odds of getting Tango out of the house twice?â
âProbably a lot higher than youâd think with how they were acting.â
âWhat if I gave Timmy a tour of your house and just locked the basement door behind him?â
âYou know Iâm starting to think we might be bad at this and should leave it to someone else.â
âNonsense!â Grian grabbed the first bottle of soya sauce he spotted, much to Impulseâs protests. He wasnât going to sit and wait for him to match the prices to the ounces. âLook, I know Timmy best, and you know Tango best. Logically, thereâs no better pair of heads to crack together for this. Theyâll thank us at the wedding.â
A jar of pickled bamboo shoots found its way into the cart beside the biggest bag of basmati rice Impulse could pick up. He had to catch his breath before he continued. âListen, Grian, do you need to⌠talk, or something?â
âWhat?â Grianâs head whipped around from the wall of spices he was mulling over. âAbout what?â
Impulse hunched his shoulders up, cringing slightly. âI dunno, yâknow⌠Youâre planning your brotherâs wedding to your friend while picking out my groceries for me. Iâm not even sure how you found out I was grocery shopping or found me in the store. I donât think thatâs normal, healthy person behaviour.âÂ
âI am so completely normal and healthy!â He said just a bit too loud.
âYou know you can talk to me if you need to.â
This was getting nowhere real fast. âAre you going to help me or not?â
Impulse sighed. âIâll help.â
âGood. Then, whatâs the plan?â
In the end, the plan was little more than âwait and seeâ with a side sprinkling of putting the pair in as much direct contact as possible. This turned out to be much more work than they anticipated, however. Jimmy had always been a socialite, but he seemed to be gone every other day viewing houses or visiting locations. Meanwhile, Tango did as he does and made himself busy constantly. Every group activity Grian planned was lucky to get even one of them, and he was about to lose his damn mind.
Their big break finally showed itself one evening, when Jimmy dropped in with Grian. Well, it was more like Grian promised to drive him to do some errands and made a left turn away from the mall and directly to the ZITS house instead. A decision Jimmy was not familiar enough with the town yet to notice until it was too late. Just the sound of Jimmyâs voice managed to draw Tango upstairs to see what was going on in his kitchen, where the rest of them were chatting.
Immediately the annoying little giggles started up again. If there was one thing in this world that could make Grian try to keep them apart, it was that giggle.
âBy the way, Jimmy,â Skizz piped up from where he leaned against the sink. âYou still need a lift tomorrow?â
When had Jimmy found time to befriend Skizz? Who knows. Knowing the two of them they probably bumped into each other on the street and kept talking till the sun went down. Extroverts were so exhausting. (He ignored the little Impulse-ish voice nagging that Grian was also something of an extrovert.)
âYeah, sorry, I appreciate it.â
âWhere you going?â Impulse asked.
âGot another house tour.â Tango of all people replied. Maybe that wasnât all that surprising, though, given the amount Grian has spotted Jimmy texting the past few days.
âIs that so? Will you be going with them?â Grian teased, but instead got a toothy grin back.
âYessiree!â
Really? Inviting your crush house hunting? Was that forward or just weird? Either way, it was an opportunity. âYou know, Tim, you havenât invited me to go with you.â He whined, putting on his best puppy dog eyes.Â
Unfortunately, while Jimmyâs talents were sparse, this was one area where he outranked Grian by a factor of magnitudes and had unlocked absolute immunity, or something. âYeah. That was on purpose.â He said bluntly, not even looking away from Tango, who laughed. In fact, everyone laughed. Even Impulse, the traitor.
Grian wouldnât give up so easily, however. âWell I think you should. So where is it?â
âWhat? Youâll just embarrass me, Iâm not telling you!â He squeaked, finally looking at his kind, sweet, dear older brother.
âYes, you are!â
âNo, Iâm not!â
And that was how Jimmy ended up in a headlock on ZITSâs kitchen floor, Impulse reluctantly using Jimmyâs phone to text Grian the address on his calendar. Tango, simp that he was, managed to distract Grian by jokingly calling Jimmy honey, forcing Grian to let go in order to pretend to hurl, during which time Jimmy made his escape back to the car.Â
He won though, and the next day when Jimmy pulled up with Skizz and Tango to the house tour, Grian and Impulse were already waiting there with the realtor.
âI canât believe you.â Jimmy dragged his hands down his face. âDonât you have to, I donât know, work?â
âJokes on you, Iâm my own boss.â Grian puffed up his chest.
Tango patted Jimmy on the back and turned the both of them towards the poor, confused realtor. âLetâs just get this over with.â He soothed, to which Jimmy gave him a saccharine smile.
The property was ridiculously nice. It wasnât especially big, but it was lined by woodlands and already had a garden, albeit in need of some severe TLC. There was even an old chicken coop to the side of the house that only needed new fencing and cleaning. The house itself was a one-story cutesy cottage-like thing. It was older, but whomever had lived in it last had the wiring redone and appliances replaced. The bedroom was big, too, as they tended to be in these older houses, and the bathroom had a proper large tub. There was a spare office room with a nice big window to the garden. The garage was separate, and large enough to be a workshop. All that while being well within the range of good internet and still close enough one could walk to town if they really wanted to.Â
It was, essentially, Jimmyâs dream home. The only issue Jimmy seemed to have was the fact that the wall between the living room and kitchen had been knocked out for a more modern open concept design with the largest windows in the house.
âItâd probably be a pain to heat in winter, right?â He asked no one in particular.Â
Grian knew jack all about houses, and only shrugged. It still wasnât that big, so he imagined not. Impulse and Skizz seemed to mull the idea over a little longer. Tango, though, saw an opportunity, and Grian had to give him credit because the man took it without hesitation. His arm was around Jimmyâs shoulder, toothy grin leaned in a bit too close. âWell, that sounds like a good excuse to cuddle up in bed all winter, hm?â
Jimmyâs cheeks turned pink. He muttered something under his breath that made Tango chuckle. Grian rolled his eyes towards Impulse, who seemed almost too shocked by his friendâs forwardness to notice.
More questions were asked, things Grian was glad he never had to worry about as a condo guy. Owning a home seemed like so much work, but Jimmy had lists upon lists. Of course, it was Jimmy, and even with lists he forgot certain things. But Tango seemed ready to pick up the slack with his own barrage of inquiries.Â
âI think,â Jimmy said, looking at the kitchen with a bit of awe. âI think this might be it, guys.â
âYeah?â Tangoâs eyes practically sparkled with excitement. Jimmy nodded.
The realtor stepped up. âThere arenât any other serious inquiries at the moment, I think you have a good chance if you put in the asking price.â Jimmy nodded, and the realtor went off to his car to make a call.
Grian pursed his lips at his brother, though. âAre you sure you can afford that? I know youâve saved up and all, but itâs still a lot.â
Jimmy beamed though, clearly overwhelmed with excitement. âOf course, you think we would look at houses we canât afford?â
âI mean if Iâm honest kind of, but- wait. We?â
âIâll have you know, despite the beliefs of certain individuals, my credit scoreâs top notch.â Tango patted his chest proudly. âAnd between the two of us we have more than enough savings for the down payment.â
Grian felt the wires in his brain short circuit and reboot. An unholy screech came from his throat. âWhat!â
Jimmy and Tango both side-eyed each other, their awkward smiles caught between guilty and like they were ready to burst out laughing. âYou⌠Thought I could buy a home on my own?â Jimmy asked, hiccupping in the middle.
Impulse looked just as dumbfounded. âWhen did you work this out?â His voice came out hoarse.
It was Tangoâs turn to be confused, raising an eyebrow. âUm, months ago? I told you, Impy.â
âYou said you were thinking about moving out, not buying a house with a stranger!â
âWait-â Skizz burst out laughing, pointing at Grian and Impulse. âYou guys really didnât know?â
âNo, why do you know!â
âCause I listen to my roommates?â
âHold on. Months ago?â Grian pushed them out of the way, getting into his brotherâs face.
It seemed Tango was no longer able to hold in his laughter, leaning on Jimmy for support while Jimmy rubbed the back of his neck. âI honestly couldnât tell if youâd actually forgotten or if this was some bit.â He admitted.
âWeâve been together for almost three years.â Tango wheezed out between cackles.
âExcuse me?â Balked Grian. âSince when? Youâve never met!â His head whipped between the two. How on earth-
A finger twirled absently in the air as Jimmy tried to explain. âDo you remember your Halloween party? The one me and Joel attended, where Tango was dressed up as an imposter?â
âYeah?â It was the biggest party heâd ever held, how could he forget? His brow creased. âBut that doesnât make any sense, I never got to introduce you two cause you both went⌠home⌠early.â Grianâs eyes went wide as the puzzle pieces clicked into place.
Tango leaned against Jimmyâs shoulder with a smirk. âThere it is.â
âOh. My god.â
âI told you he doesnât ever listen to me.â Jimmy groaned.
âYou two-â
âYeah.â
Grian gasp cracked. âJimmy you slut !â
â Excuse me? â Jimmy shouted back in equal amounts of disbelief and anger.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the realtor pause in the entryway, then slowly back out of view once more.
âYou heard me!â
âWhat do you think we did!â
âWell you werenât enjoying my party, thatâs for sure!â
âOkay, okay, everybody calm down.â Skizz stepped in, pushing Grian towards Impulse, who seemed to hold Grian back on instinct more than anything as he was still lost in shock.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â Impulse asked, giving his housemate a look of betrayal. It was returned with concern.
âI did? I swear I did.â
âDipple Dop, he told us he was busy in call with his partner all the time. He extended his work trips several times.â
âThat was Timmy?â He stumbled back, leaning on the counter. âI thought he meant, like, an MMO buddy.â
âYeah, and you certainly never told me!â Grian huffed, which Jimmy returned.
âI did tell you, but you didnât listen! Or did you just do that thing like with Scott where you thought I wasnât aware I was dating the guy I lived with for two months just because I told you we hadnât-â
âYou know what?â Skizz clapped his hands together. âI think we all need to just take a deep breath, okay? Everybody just breathe. In,â He took a deep breath, of which his housemates joined in while the brothers continued to glare at each other. âAnd out.â They all let out a long sigh.
A brief silence fell over the group, only interrupted by a nervous knock at the door. The realtor stuck his head in, eyes darting between the group. âUm, Mister Solidarity, Mister Tek, could I speak to you now?â
âYes, one second.â Jimmy said, voice tight. The pair left to talk outside.
Grian and Impulse went home after that, waiting for the other three to return. They said little, Grian fuming while Impulse stared at his lap like his dog just died. Zed popped in to say he was going out, at which point he was let in on the dayâs events and gave them both odd looks. Had they really been the only ones who didnât know?Â
By the time everyone else arrived back at the house theyâd pulled themselves together somewhat. Not entirely, but enough to ask questions without shouting.
âSo, youâre really leaving?â Impulse asked, voice almost watery. Tangoâs posture softened with his smile, and pulled the larger man into a big hug.
âOh, buddy, I told you I was gonna. Iâm a big boy now!â
âYeah, but⌠I dunno. Weâve lived together since college. I didnât think this would actually happenâŚâ
Skizz rubbed his back. âHey, he ainât movinâ cross country, heâs just down the road. Weâll see him all the time.â
âYeah! I promise, Impy, I ainât going nowhere.â
The three continued to talk among each other, comforting their friend, so Grian left them be. Instead, he turned his attention onto Jimmy, who still looked huffy, with his arms crossed and a glare squarely on Grian.
âI told you.â
âWell, maybe you should have told me better.â Grian turned his nose up as an almost automatic response. Jimmy threw his arms in the air and stomped off to the doorway, and immediately Grian felt the regret. He chased after his little brother. âWait, Tim. IâmâŚâ A warbled wheeze escaped his throat, straining to get the dreaded word out. âSsso-âŚrry... That I didnât listen.â
The shift was near-instant, disdain laxing into smugness. âThere, was that so hard?â
âImmensely.â
âOh, come off it, you big baby.â
âI just donât get it.â Grian grabbed his hair. âHow did I miss that you two were dating? Why didnât Tango say something when we invited him to dinner?â
âWell, it probably started with the fact that you introduce me to everyone as Tim and his boyfriendâs name is Jimmy.â He sneered, eyebrow raised.
Well, he had him there. Not that he would ever admit that to his brotherâs face. âI still canât believe you ditched my party to hook up with my friend.â
âOh my god, we didnât hook up!â Jimmy threw his head back. âWe just went to get Mcdonaldâs and watch movies because Tango almost had a panic attack at the number of people you invited and couldnât breathe.â
âIn my defence, I didnât expect that many people to actually show up.â
âEither way, stop projecting.â
âWh- excuse me?â
âTangoâs the same as me. I can assure you nothing like that would ever happen.â
Grian pouted. Well, at least they were happy and close by. âFine, Iâll forgive you if you can get Tango to come to roller derby night.â
âUh, I donât have anything I need to be forgiven for, and Iâm not going to make Tango do something he doesnât want to do.â
âBut Tim, consider: Tango falling on his butt in the most hideous disco suit.â
That gave Jimmy pause, thinking for a solid moment before a smile stretched behind his hand. âAlright, fine.â
âYes!â Grian pumped his fist into the air, nearly smacking Impulse in the face as the group joined them.
âWhatâs going on out here?â
âNothing.â Both brothers replied, matching smiles immediately getting them suspicious looks. Jimmy pushed past them to grab Tangoâs hand and drag him towards the basement. âCâmon, we have to finish planning.â
âYessir.â Tango saluted with a chuckle.Â
As they retreated, Grian shouted after them. âOh, Tango!â
âYeah?â Bless his soul, he was too busy giving his partner a doofy look that was wiped away the second he turned to see Grian. He did his best to bore a hole through the manâs skull.
âYou better watch your back. I know where you sleep.â
âWell, Iâd hope so.â Grian didnât like that grin. âBe weird if you didnât know where your brother was.â
And that was how Grian began to plan the death of Tango Tek.

Episode 2 now. It's definitely one of my favorites, because it introduces Niko and Tragic Mick and I love both of them. I didn't think there would be that many details I missed, but there are so enjoy (some of this seem kind of obvious, but I'll still include them)
Maybe I'm focusing on the wrong part, but the Cat King's bed doesn't look to be the most practical to sleep with someone else. When he sits on it, it looks like he wouldn't fit completely even if he scooted all the way back against the pillows. I don't know, I guess I'm just wondering the logistics of how they'd sleep together if Edwin had accepted. Would he make the bed bigger? Would their legs be left dangling at the bottom? Hilarious either way (I know this is most likely a trick of perspective, but let me live in a world in which this pathetic man tries to get laid and can't because his bed is too small)
Maybe a bit obvious, but I never noticed Edwin was gone all night. It's day again when he returns to the warehouse. It makes sense how freaked out Charles sounds when he returns
I love this show's intro a lot. The music is really good and the skeletons dancing and playing around are really funny. No new details for it, because I've watched it full every time, but I've been thinking about that part at the end with the bike and the beach chairs. Since those skeletons are supposed to be the boys, I need to see them in their usual forms riding one of those double bikes and going to the beach. It's a must
Ok, I lied, one intro detail I hadn't noticed. Going by their shoes, Edwin's skeleton is the one that drinks from the cup at the end and spills it all over himself. I don't know why, but I think that's funny
I've been wondering this since episode 1, but how do the boys know possession sets off alarms? Have they seen it happen with other ghosts? Or have they ever been in a similar situation and managed to escape? While I think maybe the first is more likely, the second would explain why Lost and Found knows they're together
Jenny comes into Crystal's room still in her pijamas. Did Edwin's banging wake her up? No wonder she's so mad
Tragic Mick's shop is called âTragic Mick's Magic Tricks and Items", which is both a tongue twister and oddly vague. Oh yes, there's magic stuff and other shit in that shop. Amazing, Tragic Mick, never change
All of the items on Niko's grocery list have question marks at the end except for strawberry ice cream, which has an exclamation mark. I agree with that
Charles is being way too nice about the doctor. The guy didn't even take out any tools to check on Niko, he just leaned over her and said she was dehydrated
I really like Crystal's overalls in this episode. In my previous watches, I focused a lot on Niko's clothes, because they're amazing, but I'm starting to notice Crystal's more now and I really like them
The Night Nurse looks tiny next to her assistants. Is she really small or her assistants really big? I don't remember how tall she looks in comparison to the kids
Speaking of heights, though, is Niko much taller than Crystal? When they are on their own, it looks like it, but then next to the boys they look more or less the same height
When he notices Edwin doing the thing with his fists, Charles does like a little double take between his face and his hands. Something small, but I really like the way he does it. Like he's really paying attention to every little detail
We get a close up of Edwin's boots and I think they're really cool. I've never seen that style of shoe as a boot before, but I've always liked them. Also his socks are cute and I would love to make myself a similar pair
The top of the dandelion altar thing has this lines. At first I thought maybe it looked like the underside of a mushroom, but it makes more sense for it to be a dandelion seed
Edwin first translates a word as gifts and then goes ânot gifts, sacrificesâ, and in general sounds a little hessitant with his translation. Usually people in movies and shows just bust out a perfect translation on the fly, so as someone who struggles translating, I appreciate that little detail
The jar stops sounding like the sea when Charles empties it. I'm choosing to believe that's a missed opportunity because can you imagine how much Litty and Kingham would hate living in a jar that constantly sounds like ocean waves? Insufferable, it would have been great
Obviously Charles looks worried about her when Crystal offers herself to the sprites, but Edwin does too. He cares about her, even if at this point they haven't really bonded and their animosity towards each other is more or less geniune
Litty's outfit is actually really cute. Love the puffy dress and the sweater over the shoulders. And both of their waistcoats are adorable. Never noticed that Kingham's has a subtle print. I's the same as Litt's skirt, too. More dandelions maybe?
When Niko is telling Crystal that she thought abot replying to her mom, Edwin id in the background writing in his notebook. And Charles is leaning over his shoulder to see what he's doing, which looks really sweet
There's a guy in the line of ghosts outside that looks very much like the postman with a different mustache
Say what you want about Esther, but I love her commitment to having atmosphere music playing whenever she's up to something

I love that Asha has a big friend group, both because theyâre fun characters, and I think they're really important to highlight the difference between her and Magnifico. Because honestly, I donât think Magnifico tends to like people. He likes the idea of a thriving kingdom under his rule, and he obviously enjoys being up onstage with an adoring crowd down below him, but he starts losing his temper almost immediately whenever someone tries to actually discuss anything with him. And considering Dahlia has to introduce herself when sheâs trying to stall him, it doesnât seem like heâs even bothered to say hello to his staff once in a while. Not to mention, Ashaâs clearly not the first time things have gone south with an apprentice, considering Amaya has a whole âhow to not anger the kingâ speech prepared, and sheâs pretty unphased when the previous interview ends with the guy fleeing the palace sobbing.
Asha, however, just seems to love being around other people. Sheâs full of life and energy while giving newcomers tours around the kingdom, and sheâs happy to patiently answer their questions and reassure them when theyâre worried. And as her friends demonstrate, she can take a large group of vastly different people who donât always agree with her on everything, and still get them to trust her deeply enough that theyâll stand by her side while facing nearly impossible odds. I think itâs very telling that when we see Magnifico getting stressed, heâs not cheered up until Amaya starts praising him as the âHandsomest, most beloved king,â (and he only chooses to focus on the handsome part), but when Asha is stressed, Dahlia knows to comfort her by reminding her âYouâre surrounded by friends.â
Basically, Magnifico loves the kingdom, and Asha loves the people in kingdom.
Oh my god yes! Finally someone who understands the differences between asha and king magnifico!
These are some differences between asha and king magnifico that i really like!
Their Colors. King magnifico wears colors that are usually associated with goodness (White/Gold) as an way to make you think he is benevolent when he really is malevolent, as with Asha she wears colors that are usually associated with evilness (Purple/Red) Which makes sense because king magnifico will later on paint asha as a criminal when she is not.
King magnifico has the forbidden book, Asha has star. We all know the forbidden book represents pure evil, like nothing good came for it at all, even magnifico kept it lock up but able to easily access it when ever he wants and went straight to it when people started to ask him questions about his rules, However Asha on the other hand has Star who represents pure positive energy when star came down to earth and spread their light all over rosas, everyone felt happy and hopeful, both the forbidden book and star have been with magnifico and asha for a long time, asha has believe in the power of stars since she was very young thanks to her father, and magnifico who im assuming has had the forbidden book ever since he was building rosas.
'This Wish' and 'This The Thanks I Get?!' The difference between how asha and magnifico react to people doubting them is shows in their songs, when sabino yelled at asha she wasn't mad that she got yelled at, no asha was upset and sad cause she thought she actually hurt sabino rather then trying to halp him by telling the truth, asha storms out the house and starts singing about how she wishes the people had more then just this, "isn't truth supposed to set you free? Well why do i feel so weighed down by it?" Ever since asha has got back from the interview with magnifico she has been torn apart by the truth, The truth that many people in rosas will never get to live out their dreams Which is something the people don't know making it more harder on asha, "if i could show them everything i've seen Open their eyes to all the lies then would their change minds like i did?, but when i speak they tell me 'set down'" Asha has tried convincing magnifico and sabino that this is wrong, that its not right magnifico strips people of their wishes never to be granted or given back but she is told to "set down" by both magnifico and sabino, even though sabino is a victim, "So i make this wish to have something more us then this" 'This Wish' is about asha making a selfless wish to a old belief that her father has taught her, However magnifico on the other hand just sings about Himself and only himself and how people don't respect or show gratitude to him when in Reality the people DID love magnifico they made Statues, Chalk Art, Flags and Banners, THE MAGNIFICO COOKIES!, but even with all of that we still got 'this is the thanks i get?!' the only reason magnifico want to use the forbidden book is because people asked simple questions that he provoked, he told people that their wishes were in danger and got mad when people started worry about said wishes! And thats the difference between magnifico and asha, When magnifico is ask a simple question he gets Angry and Paranoid and wants to hurt someone, but when asha is bombarded with questions she doesn't seek to hurt someone no she wants to help not Control and Dictate.

Home videos / Marvel Fanfic đš
Summary: What if there was a bit of context? A small added perspective on the home video Tony watch of his father?
Timeline setting: Iron Man 2
Established uncle and nephew relationship: Tony Stark & Jason Underwood
Click theses two fanfics for more context on the stories referenced
-> Friends Over The Years
-> What If Jason Stay At Home Stark? (This fic started the AU Saga btw hehe đ)
Note: This is the scene in Iron Man 2 where Tony looks at old footage and an deleted scene that was supposed to be in the movie đĽ
ââ
The last 48 hours have been a bust. From long hour drives to the whole wisecracking donut incident downtown in Miami.
After a small load speech from Fury and the tiny reverse side of how things were left, it was time to settle things down.
Jason knew Tony needed some home videos to have a breather, older footage in the storage closet in the basement and some given to by SHIELD themselves.
It was late. The two sat down comfortably on the couch downtown as the projector played a couple of old moments from their past. From black and white to living grainy color.
It flipped across footage that showed Jason dancing with Peggy at a Christmas party to Tonyâs first birthday where he smashed cake into his face. Even footage of Jarvis and Maria in the living room painting a wall.
Plenty of things to choose from as the two smiled softly at the small fragments of the past as the tapes just kept on rolling.
There was one snippet of footage that caught the blondes eye as he raised an eyebrow at the date. Not exactly remembering it being filmed as the tape began to play.
It wasnât until he noticed the background Howard was set in, as he looked away realizing the office turned lab had furniture removed from the screen. It was a huge mess before with paperwork, toolboxes and items scattered around the flooring.
Tony seemed to noticed his facial expression changed and nodded, âWhat happened? Youâre usually pointing out certain things..â
He paused the footage and glanced over at his nephew, âDonât need to. Just, uh, before video was filmed, it seemed like it was two days after I left..â
âHm? Sorry, context for the child here.â
He scoffed at that comment and added, âFor more than a few days, me and your father didnât even bother to speak to one another. We had a fight, it was harshly ended by pure shock and anger..youâre father said a few things and so did I involving the context of our current state.. and uh, things happened.â
âOh, t-that doesnât sound like you and dad.â Tony scoffed as it sounded like a light joke, âYou were buddies.â
âWell we fought long and hard that night.â
âWhere was i during all of this?â
âIn your room playing with your infamous racetrack.â
âI loved that racetrack, one of the best gifts I ever gotten. Uh, was this the same week you left to go on a trip for work?â
âYeah, I sorta half lied to you about the trip being just for work since you were only 7 and didnât know any better. But me and your father needed a small break from each other.â
Tony snorted, âOh god.â
âWhat?â Jason reply with a raised eyebrow.
âYou sound like you and dad were dating or something with that statement. Itâs weird. What was the fight about?â
âYou.â
âMe?â
âWell, our friends and family but you were mentioned a couple of times. Your father turned into a huge workaholic and a jerk, which pissed me off. And well, I pissed him off because I was trying to reason with him to cut the crap and focus on the bigger things in life.â
âMe huh?â
âTony.â
âWhat? Iâm surprised I was mentioned in the conversation. But I get it! Dad was more a work now, play laterâor in his case, never kinda guy. I uh..Iâll just let the footage speak for itself.â
ââââ
Tony pressed play as the projector kept the video rolling, he half glanced over at the footage since he was fumbling with an old notebook. Jason was laying down, turned sideways toward the screen listening to Howard talk.
He was introducing himself and Stark Industries as the camera tried to follow him. Howard was leaning against the table, looking over his shoulder and did a double take towards his young son, âEh-Tony? What are you doing back there?â
It caused both young and older versions of him to face the man who said his name. Howard was telling Tony to put the item he had in his hand back where he got it from. All Jason could remember of a tiny Tony one afternoon telling him that dad seemed angry at him again as he hushed the boys worries. He shook his head at the thought, glancing at his nephew.
He watched the footage as Howard ushered his son off the screen and turning back to the camera man telling him a few things.
Tony looked at his uncle, âYou sure you two had a fight? He doesnât seem that annoyed.â
âIt was two days ago after that fight he mustâve filmed this, so he couldâve just masked his anger and annoyance.â Jason tried to explain the best he could.
The footage skipped to a few other scenes of Howard having a small drink from talking nonsense to going off script. He wasnât as focused, fumbling around with the trinkets on the table and blabbing onto the cameraman.
It was clearly being shown. The man was a bit of a mess.
Tony watched, noticing his fatherâs moments were similar to his own. He tends to blabber and ramble a lot, especially have his fingers fidget with something. Hell he was holding a old flip phone in his hand. He returned his eyes back to the old notebook with plenty of blank pages.
Jason took one the notebookâs from his lap, handing him the glass of ice cold soda, since he made a deal to cut down on daily drinks for the week. Sober him up a bit. He gave him a half smile in which he returned, glancing up at the footage.
Moments like this, it reminded him of Tonyâs younger years where they watched old footage with his aunts and uncles on the couch. Just by the footage alone of Howard, there were flickers in his mind of the little boy who called him that same week he left asking when will he come back home.
Along with the thoughts of him in that very lab that Howard was standing in, where the fight broke out organically into a week long standing debate.
He knew it effected him not coming home after walking out of the house that week, because Howard didnât expect for Jason to take that step. But he did.
Seeing Howard like this on the footage just spoke volumes itself.
He would never admit it but he was a fumbling mess, more than usual. Cracking lame jokes, pacing around the lab, muttering a couple of things and the way he glanced over at the door as if someone will magically appear.
As if Jason, Maria and or Elizabeth would magically appear to fix his issue and reset the clock for the time he wasted on footage. But neither one of them came, especially after it was clearly said by Howard to his friend to âGet out!â before the blonde left.
It was as if Howard got reminded of those flashbacks from their fight and flipped the scripture of the video. As if he admitted to his mistakes and let the words Jason told him start to set into motion.
He said, âTony. Youâre too young to understand this right now, so I thought I would put it on film for youâŚI built this for you.â
All of that got Tonyâs full attention, leaning into the edge of his seat, glancing between his uncle and father. It was as if the words hit home where Tony didnât know they had to be.
Howard continued leaning against the table, â..and someday youâll realize that it represents something a lot more than just peopleâs inventions. It represents my lifeâs work. This is the key to the futureâŚI did not understand it at the time of building this but it is..â
The footage cut up a few small scale models of Stark Industries and The Expo as his voiceover was clear as day. He said he was limited by the technology of his time, which was very true, but knowing one day Tony will figure it out.
Because Tony shares a fraction of his fatherâs mind and his motherâs heart, in result he knows he will change the world. Tony was silent hearing this, glancing over at his uncle once again who softly smiled watching the tape as if it the message was very much becoming clear to Tony.
The fight he mentioned earlier that heavily mentioned him. Because a part of them knew his path would lead him somewhere they couldnât imagine but fought onto wanting to share the knowledge with him.
Howard wasnât sure if he was ready yet to know it all but Jason somehow was just making sure he got to spend time with him.
Howard spoke again facing the camera in all seriousness and smiles longingly, as a place of love came the next few words. He said, âWhat is and always will be, my greatest creation..is you.â
Jason softly nodded, blinking because his last breath to Howard before he walked out of the house was that Tony is his greatest creation.
His connections to his family and friends are the greatest creations he ever built, his legacy people will be talking about in his future.
â..he never told me about this..â The blonde muttered with a soft grin and nodded, âNot even after we made up..â
Tony looked at him with a gentle smile, âReally?â
âNo. It never came up. That stinking idiot..but Iâm actually kinda glad I never found out til now.â
âI didnât know about this footage, period. I always thought dad was disappointed in me and just wanted me to stay away from his work..â
This time he met Tonyâs eyes and chuckled, âWell to be fair, you were young and we were all kinda scared you would get hurt in the lab. Especially your aunt. But he wasnât ever disappointed in you or wanted you to stay strictly away from it.â
âYeah..?â Tony replies come out as a mere soft mutter.
âYeah, he knew one day youâll figure it out, understand why he did it to keep you as safe as possible. Letâs be real here, this lab always tends to be a bit of a fire hazard.â
âTell me about. Itâs why I have Dummy carry around a fire extinguisher.â
Both men chuckled and even snorted loudly at that comment.
Jason chuckled and sighed, âExactly, there was always a part of him that wanted to share this work with you since before you were born but knew he had to wait or Lizzie would kill him.â
âOh I know!â Tony replied with a smiled, âMom and aunt Peg wouldâve been furious too, if I was down there unsupervised or worse. I get it now cause Iâm a adult but still. It bothered me.â
âAnd you have every right to feel that way.â
âSometimes it felt like dad and I werenât always on the same page either. He was a pain in the ass at time and sometimes I donât know..â
âYeah, we both know Howard wasnât the best at showering people with grand affection but he did it his own way weather he showed it or not..â
âDad never specified in saying âI love youâ, he always just crack a joke about something or ruffle my hair and give me a nice squeeze..â
âHe has always been like that with everyone.â
âReally?â
âOh yeah! He had his ways of tell something he cared for them. Like letting Jarvis and his wife stay at one of his houses, getting Peggy a new dress or your mother her favorite pair of pearl earrings.â
Tony smiled hearing that and nodded, âOr buying me a new toy! Now that sounds like something he would do. Hell I think I would do that for Pepper and my kids.â
âYou see? He did care in his own way.â Jason added, âBut he did love you, bubba. And he knew you would do something bigger with your life.â
The two kept talking, not realizing the footage kept running.
Tony grinned mid chat and glanced at the screen, noticing his father carrying his kid self in his arms affectionally rocking him back and forth a little, as he spoke to the camera. Patting his back as his small face was turned away from the camera in his pjs.
It seemed like he couldnât fall asleep and went rushing to his father for comfort. His dad seemed more comfortable, having removed his suit jacket from earlier and stayed in a white button down and a loose tie.
He turned up the volume a bit to watch him in mid speech, leaning forward with a small smile.
âYouâre the future.â Howard said, pointing to the camera then returned his hand onto to the sonâs back rubbing small circles, â..you know i created so much in my lifetime. But you know what Iâm most proud of? You. My son.â
Tony stayed silent looking down with a soft smile, glancing back at Jason who nodded watching the footage. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it once again.
Howard continued with a small grin, resting his head against Tonyâs in a comforting way and said, âI know it said it already but you are my greatest inspiration and my greatest creation...donât let your uncle hear this or he will know I sorta screwed up and that he was right..we both were about this. I just didnât let it register in my brain yet that instead of just showing you everything, I gotta let you explore it as well. Come down to the lab more often than not and see what you can do..â
You can still tell that Howard was trying his best to format his wording where it makes sense and doesnât sound like heâs rambling too much. Like he was figuring out the best way to say everything on his mind and the effort was clearly there.
Jason held back a chuckle at hearing that last part about himself and nodded, rolling his eyes as he glanced at Tony. His nephew smiled and shook his head hearing his father taking in everything he meant and more.
The man fell silent in a moment as if wanting the words to sink in. Howard nodded with a half smile and added, âI love you.â He glanced over at his son falling back asleep on his shoulder nodding, âLetâs get you back to bed.â
With that Howard walked off screen and the camera cut to black.
Tony blinked watching the vision of screen and the words that came out of his fatherâs own mouth. He wondered for a second if heard him correctly. Maybe he was wrong? His dad really did love people and his uncle was right that he has his own ways of showing it?
He was silent. He sinked back into his chair and took another sip of his drink, letting the whole footage register in his own head.
Have everything wrap around his own head all at once. It still didnât all stay trapped in his head the words he just heard.
Then a small smile appeared on his lips as he murmured softly, âW-wow.â
Jason seemed to share the same sentiment as he scoffed, âYeah. So, how are we feeling?â
âSorta satisfied, if that makes sense?â
âThatâs the way i would put it.â
âI didnât know about this. A-are you sure you didnât have knowledge about this video?â
âNope. Just as surprised as you are.
Jason just chuckled at that comment as Tony snickered. It was understandable how he didnât know about the old footage and if he had to be honest, neither did he.
Maybe there was a reason why they both found the footage this time around?
Maybe it wasnât random but yet fate cause there was a chance of something happening in their future?
Maybe there is something left behind in the past that was coming their way?
The two just had to wait and see.
ââ-
Ah that is all folks! Pls tell me know what you think đ
