Game of the Month: Hey! Thats my Fish

I’ve been going on at my hubby for ages about this game, I told him you love penguins so you should want to play it. I got the same response as last month when I said let’s play Rhino Hero, “it’s for kids” he said. Well look what happened when we played Rhino Hero he loved it. The same happened again when we played Hey! That’s my Fish, he really enjoyed playing it. He has to start trusting my instincts now. Yes it is a family game, but it’s not “just for kids” there is strategy there as well.

In Hey, That's My Fish!, players want to catch as many fish as possible with their waddle of penguins. Each turn, a player moves one penguin in a straight line over hex-shaped ice tiles with 1, 2 or 3 fish on them. The player then collects the hex from where the penguin started its movement from the table, thereby creating a gap which penguins can't cross on future turns. When a penguin can't move, it's removed from play with its owner claiming the tile on which it stands. The player who collects the most fish wins.

Our first board gaming event for the year will take place on Saturday 18th March from 12 till 5pm at Paston Scout Hut, 1087 Lincoln Road, Peterborough, PE4 6AH. Hey! That’s my fish! is a fantastic little game (or would be, if FFG would sort out their box format!) from @fantasyflightgames where each player has a group of penguins moving around on an ice floe trying to catch the most fish. It’s incredibly simple and never out stays its welcome, which is important for any filler game. Love it! The Stare-Down. I've seen this look many times before on the river, fishing...from Alberta, to the BC coast, and to the Island. It's not pleasant when it's eye-to-eye. At first it looks kind of bashful, shy, almost cute, when their heads tip and bows downward, while their beady eyes just lock on you. It's a challenge, and it's one I dare not take. Total respect.
