I'm scared to ask this but.. What is a NatPer kid? I have seen the same name in your blog for 5 times now and I assume they are a group of weird kids with weird thoughts about nations. Nat probably stands for "Nation/Nations" but what is that mysterious Per?? 😰 Is it pervert? So they are a problematic minority called NATION PERVERTS omg. 😭 NATION PERVERTS KIDS.

Lmao sorry for not clarifying. NatPer is just another abbreviation for NP. It takes the first parts of Nation (Nat), and Personification (Per). I used that because calling them NP kids implies they're children NPs, so I changed it.

They're kids (like usually 7th to 10th grade) who are obsessed with NPs to an absurd degree. Think of like the WORST type of Hetalia fan and that's basically them. In history class, they're like the same level of obnoxious as the edgy WW2/Commie kid who makes unfunny Stalin memes and likes to play "devil's advocate".

[OOC: hello again! Paiko here! So, there's been a bunch more ask blog drama these past few days, so I thought I'd give a very friendly reminder of some other unspoken (that at this point should be spoken) rules of having an ask blog.

Alright, uhm, can we all agree as a community to avoid having very heavy historical topics play a part in our blogs? I know a lot of us are huge history nerds which is absolutely fantastic, but let's keep in mind that hetalia is very silly and unserious, so it might not be in very good taste to portray a serious topic in a very goofy medium. It just doesn't sit quite well. Now, a lot of people may wonder if what they're doing can be considered insensitive, well, a good way to know is listening to your followers. Respecting the people who read your blog is a very important part of having a good ask blog. If something isn't sitting well with a lot of people, maybe let's avoid it.

On that topic, having unique headcanons for your ask blog character (I've seen people call them muses too) is absolutely amazing and one hundred percent your right, however, you have to consider that hetalia, unlike countryballs or countryhumans, is not so versatile. People come into it with a specific expectation. Having our own unique headcanons is great, but there's a point where it strays so far that it's better to just make an original character or an 'OC'. I love seeing people's headcanons as it adds a lot of depth to the characters, but just because a pool is shallow that doesn't mean your shoes won't get wet if you step in it. All the hetalia characters could use more development which is what a lot of us do with our headcanons, but we have to accept that some people just won't like them.

Try to refrain from making headcanons about certain subjects if you're not entirely confident in your ability to portray them in a sensitive and respectful way. A lot of us suffer from things like weak vision, allergies, etcetera and it's very fun to get to put little parts of ourselves into our characters, but what gets tricky is portraying medical conditions we personally do not have. Things can get super insensitive very quickly, so it's really important to try and be mindful about these things. I've said before on my main blog that I really do not like bringing up topics of chronic illnesses because I personally do not suffer from one and I know that I'm not nearly educated enough to talk about someone else's experience. This doesn't only apply to physiological conditions. I know we all love our angst, but let's not trivialize mental health problems. It can be very upsetting to people who do suffer from these conditions. They have to see something that they know much more about than anyone should ever have to know. They are the ones who will have to see that, so again, let's try to be mindful.

If you get into trouble with any other blog or even another group of blogs, there are good ways to go about addressing these issues rather than just straight up fighting. I think I speak for a lot of blogs when I say that we'd like to keep this community relatively drama free. I'll let you in on a little secret, no matter how right you are about something, there will always be someone who just refuses to see things any other way. We have to start considering each other's thoughts when it comes to disagreements especially when it comes to fandom discourse. I'd hate for someone to be driven away from the fandom over a disagreement gone wrong. Remember, you're dealing with strangers here, let's try to keep things peaceful.

And that's about it for now, if any of these things apply to you, no worries, we're all working on bettering ourselves and it'll take time, patience and guidance, but it's worth an effort.

Once again I saw some really in-depth thoughts that just kill me by how theyre built on misunderstandings. Its a pain and embarrasing for me to have such a very very strong oppinnion on something ultimatelly meaningless, but its the truth which i wont deny to myself on my own blog...... This is going to be about hetalia so beautiful sophisticated mutuals please scroll by ...

Gilbert. The teuton. Prussia. It unbelievably unbelievably annoys me when he is headcanoned as being a converted baltic prussian. I think its an incredibly dense, and bordering on offensive, and just.. stupid of a theory.. I think its stupid as fuck. There are FAIR interpretations of it, that warp the mangacanon and build a very elaborate meta on how these immortal nationpeople come around, sure. I can grit my teeth in silence and respect the work, yet still it makes me chew my skin and roll my eyes to look back into my own skull ..

To start with my favouritest history, the genocide (!) of the baltic prussians, as they were fucking hated the teutons. And those (FEW! INCREDIBLY FEW!) who chose to convert/surrender were all, in the end, betrayed and germanified by that same ordin, shunned by the rest of the baltic prussians, who considered them traitors and didnt accept them returning. We know this. its not historical fiction, its chronicles and letters between germans poles lithuanians, its direct sources that say this. Children stolen and christianised more often than not still were seen as "feral", "mutts", "wild and foreign" by the germans, and very often ran away or rebelled or acted out in ways that doomed them to not ever integrate. There is a very famous and strong sentiment of "those forcibly baptised will not ever forget what was taken from them", rooted in reality and absolutely magnified in legend and story. For the biggest example, that some people also use somehow missing the entire point, is Herkus Monte- a baltic prussian child who was taken and christened, who was brought up as an exemplatory german, so much so that he was sent back to Prussia to help the knights and bishops, and then betrayed them almost imediatelly, uniting the tribes and fighting to his last strenghts to drive the teutonic hordes out.

Gilbert is an incredibly, incredibly bloodtbirsty man, as per canon portrayal. He is remorseless, and he is very close to christianity; for his acting out and "telling the Pope to piss off", it is still historically accurate to how the teutons believed themselves to be True and Correct harbringers of Deus Vult, God's Will, and the Pope who didnt endorse their ways a fraud. Gilbert is an imperialist, it bleeds perfectly into making him the man he is later. Gilbert sees his enemies - Lithuania, Tolys, and Poland, Feliks, as totally stupid and reasonless. He doesnt once think deeper about what he does- he dashes to kill them with a smile on his face and opportunistically, ambitiously he spoke of his correctness in every instance- for example, the battle on lake Peipus chapter! Gilbert is forefirst a teuton, and a german second, at that point of the story. He is a christian, he is a knight of divinity.

I just simply dont think an origin as a baltic prussian is fit for the man he is! Even if you say, "he is totally brainwashed and being raised like this since childhood erased anything else", it.. adds nothing! Its tragedy for sake of tragedy!

And my second historical gripe, is that the teutonic order didnt start with the northern crusades. They started with Jerusalem, and then aided Hungary; WHICH, IN THE MANGA CANON, GILBERT DOES! Gilbert's knightly adventures start in Hungary, before the order was kicked out of there in 1225! For reference,a wholy diffrent group of crusaders had already built a capital city in modernday Latvia and pillaging the locals since 1201, and the polish mosurians hadnt yet had the brilliant idea of asking the Pope for assistance in the war with baltic prussians.

To portray him as baltic is ahistorical, it to me geniuenly seems offensive (to give the personification of the enemy the background of of the genocided victims is something people were massivelly getting yelled at when they did it to Alfred, Matthew back so recently as in 2017..),but perhaps more convincingly just notttt canon to the source material. If Gilbert was a baltic prussian, he wouldntve met Erszébet when he does in canon; if Gilbert was a baltic prussian, then he is unfit to be the personification/leader/symbol of/idealised/adored by the knights. Which if he wasnt, he would not be a knight himself at all! Why give a positition of such importance when he isnt even really a german?

Its fucking bonkers! I bite my thumb at thee, I do! I know all best I can do is be polite (i want to believe that i am) and just not look at the content (I try not to, pretending it doesnt exist is bliss) , and yet. Its such a blood boiling idea in me. Its my own cycle of plague. Its an idea so pervasive in western fandom (trully, the russian and japanese side imagine him as an ostrogoth or a feral child of Germania himself if they do something about his pre-teutonic life, which imo is so much more based and cool and creative but ill disgress(<- lying)), why but of why is this popular. Keep your pruliet keep your pruspol i cant care about that anymore but make Gilbert a north german veteran of getting his ass beat in Jerusalem and Hungary... AAAAAAAAA

Hi, I’m Margrave, and if canon is usually a ball of yarn and the fics are the cardigans, then the Countryhumans fanon + Hetalia canon are sheep whom I have sheared and spun their outer layers into my own combined, entirely handmade yarn.

My personal universe of hcs is more like a mash-up of CH and Hetalia traits, though I’d never watched or read hetalia canon up until just recently (and only clip compilations). When I was 12-15 I was hyperfixated on CH, but my interaction with it was limited to wattpad and youtube. Out of the inevitable following history and geography hyperfixations I created my own universe, which was then heavily influenced by some Hetalia blogs over here. 3 years later some songs just pulled me back down into the thick of my CH world and now I’m here to make it everyone else’s problem. If this stuff actually garners interest then perhaps someday I’ll make a masterlist of my great city of Headcanonburg. If you wanna know more than don’t be afraid to ask :D

This blog is focused around my Alice in borderland x Hetalia au, I am also creating a fanfic centred around this au but it hasn’t been made yet. It's been a long while since last I'd been active in tumblr, but I figured getting to meet new people would be worthwhile as I've made my comeback!

B:  What was the first fandom you read fic in?  Which was the first you wrote fic for?

for reading, pretty sure it was Hetalia (I have come across fanfiction before but pretty sure this was the first fandom I actively sought out fanfiction of), and writing...... for properly FandomTM writing, it was one (1) attempt at backstory for my Skyrim player character and then Dragon Age. technically there was fic-adjacent writing I did before this, but that was more me appropriating pieces of media with a friend rather than Participating In Fandom. like I wrote fic about gijinkas (human versions) of the plants vs. zombies plants and transformers ocs (despite not being in the transformers fandom) that didn't get published anywhere because it was for the one (1) other person who knew what the heck I was talking about. I don't really think about those as me doing fanfiction because the point wasn't really to interact with the fandom, I was kind of just using a random piece of media as building blocks for an original story, but technically it is also fic

M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with?  Did it turn into a story?

....after some introspection, I think I literally only make weird AUs? like I haven't done a single classic soulmate AU or a role swap AU or anything like that. no. it's all "what if all four of my Inquisitors were 19th century people investigating a paranormal horror mystery that then directly caused that universe's version of the Conclave explosion" (the literal plot of The Breach, my WIP longfic that's going to be one year old in a couple of months)

(update: okay actually. I do have a decent amount of normal AUs that are basically "what if my video game blorbo but with a slightly different backstory". like Selene's companion au. also some genre swaps and the classic "putting blorbo from one piece of media into another piece of media")

what if the red lyrium future from In Hushed Whispers was a The Last Of Us-esque apocalypse (a short fic I also wrote a couple years ago and deleted, and, tragically, it did not get archived anywhere so I wasn't able to get it back. the concept was that it's a modern world but red lyrium is growing everywhere and red lyrium dust is in the air so you have to protect yourself both from breathing it and from hearing the song, and it had the Valo-Kas as a group of survivors. rip to that fic, it was a good one)

hello! I was the anon ask you received yesterday, and i wanted to send it to you off anon if that helps with resolving the issue properly and clarifying a few things. again, i stress that there is nothing wrong with facing the facts—i knew lithuania was going to win most likely because he's european, white and therefore more popular. what i meant was just how you referred to the other poc countries—i didn't have an issue until you used the word "sacrifices." i understand it may have seemed like a harmless joke and as if i am being overly sensitive over a small word, but it was hurtful—both to me and other poc friends who saw the post—because it seemed to perhaps confirm an unconscious thought by the fandom, which is that we exist as accessories to the popular characters and that we don't have much agency out of them...

for context, i remember browsing through the aph south korea tag to find the round 2 poll, and after voting for that round i looked at the reblogs to see what people had to say out of curiosity, after which i had seen the tag of your reblog. as a south korean and a poc it really stuck with me and felt like an unconscious admission: that pocs will always be unpopular, yet people seem to pretend that both are on an equal status

the small things that you can brush off your mind stick with us, because it relates to us and how we are seen in this fandom. but whenever we, the minority, voice these concerns, it usually ends with our voices being dismissed as "not being able to have fun and enjoy the fandom" or "raining on the parade."

i don't want to assume that the final post about how fandom must be treated was a vaguepost about the ask, but simple things such as "just have fun and don't be a party pooper" is on the similar vein as "they're just characters" or "hetalia is just an anime." now, this wouldn't be an issue if hetalia wasn't an anime about countries(meaning there is history and politics)! and so a lot of pocs struggle to have fun in the sense that you do because even though exclusion isn't upfront and obvious, it's all in the little things.

i don't wish to accuse or say that this is how you think of us, but rather a reminder. no matter how influential you are as a blog, being a small or big blog is not an obstacle to stepping back and seeing if what you do or say is inclusive to everyone!

I’m sorry for how brash I am about anonymous messages, I’ve just been in online fandom spaces since 2006 and have been sent a lot of bait that reads as well-intended, and seen it get muddled and ugly within hours. I know that messaging someone like this can be intimidating so I hope my response reassures you that this is an okay and good way to go about things that have hurt you, regardless of who did it.

I agree actually, that my wording was not good. Ideally, someone who knows me would have said something by now but it's possible those are the people who know what I meant and let it slide bcs of that. I used excitable text about it, but the thought process was actually that I didn’t think the lineup was fair for a first round, and that the act of seeding a character we know damn well is popular among horny bloggers being lined up with notably less popular characters I very rarely see people going ham for. Did I say that? No lmao, that point was left to the wind and this was the result.

You are correct to not assume the fandom and fun post was related to my responses to the anon, it 100% was not. I had moved on by then and was thinking about how my favorite rarepairs now have people talking about them and telling me it's because I made it look fun or interesting. Back In My Day and frankly what I’m used to, it’s fandom that’s broken into little groups that talk about a character/ship/trope most often, while also branching out now and then into larger fandom when they catch an event the other group is doing. I do stand by the fact you have to make your own corner of this fandom, not just to convince anyone but because that’s what is going to make it worth participating in the first place.

This is a different topic than fans of color pointing out that the largest groups are for white m/m ships and made up of mainly white fans, and what that comes with in the larger scheme of things. I have 0 intention of speaking over that, which is why I make and share a lot of posts about fandom positivity, and roping your friends into a good time, while also sharing posts from fans of color outlining the problems they face in fandom.

TL,DR; If I do something shitty, anyone can pull me aside and say “hey dude, that sucked” and I will listen if they want to go into further detail. This has happened plenty of times already and will happen plenty more, does not hurt my feelings. I also do not trust anons to do this or actually care about the outcome. I’m sorry that I caused you distress with my response to the latter.

oh man. England. Hands down. My friends from the Hetalia irl meet up group got me a fairly enormous Union Jack for my birthday in 2009 and we had high tea. I have owned two Mini Coopers. I am now, have always been, and will always be a slut for Arthur Kirkland.

46: Are you glad that you started watching Hetalia?

WATCHING!? You young ones. ;P When I got into Hetalia, there wasn't even an official translation of the webcomic (and much confusion about the order they were supposed to be in). Fans argued over whether Arthur's last name should be translated as Kirkland or Clarkland and I actually think Clarkland had a stronger case but we all hated it.

And the only blessing of my godforsaken life is that I have never seen more than 30 seconds of the anime.

Wonderful! An active hetalia blog! I’m not sure if you do nyo or not, but how would the nyo!axis (+lady!prussia) react to finding out that her affectionate crush is also gay, but too shy to make *too* direct of a move? (She hasn’t come out to anyone yet). I’m not sure your character limit, so if not all the axis is included, its totally fine! Welcome back! 💛
