How is your version of the Monster High movies different from the canon? Like, what’s your version of Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love, Escape From Skull Shores, Boo York, Scaris: City of Frights, Fright On, Ghouls Rule, Friday Night Frights, and 13 Wishes? I would LOVE to hear how you would rewrite them for your Reimagined series!! I also love how you have background characters like Invisi-Billy and Johnny become the main cast instead of just all girls. I also want to know what town Monster High is set in because they never said WHERE the movies take place.

And what secrets does the office of former student, C.A. Cupid hold?

It's time for the Monsters to save them.

Howleen, still in a fragile state of mind easily becomes manipulated by the shadow genie Whisp. Howleen's wishes end up making Gil a daredevil with no regard for his safety! And she erases Cleo from everyone's memory, almost everyone. Seems artificial minds are immune to genie magic. Clawdeen just wants to help her sister but things don't go well. Can Howleen be saved before it's too late?

While they come up with a way to break the marriage, Catty's voice gets stolen by the werecat twins, employed by Nefera De Nile. During the chaos Johnny decides now is apparently the right time to confess his feelings for Billy. Also, there's a meteor. And it's a musical. Yay!

A fight between Lagoona and Toralei results in them falling into the pool, suddenly transported to the Great Scarrier Reef. And they're not allowed to leave until Lagoona faces her demons. For once Operetta and Johnny agree for Lagoona to hurry up so they can stop being half fish!

Scarily Ever After

During the great school clean up. Draculaura finds a magical book in the attic. Suddenly, she, Clawdeen, Cleo, Deuce and Johnny get pulled into a fairytale maze where they run into the students of Ever After High, Raven Queen, Apple White, Maddie Hatter, Briar Beauty and Sparrow Hood, trying to stop The Evil Queen, Raven's mother, from enslaving Monster High. As if that's not enough, a magical stream swaps the Monsters with the Fairytale students. And who's this mysterious Euna?

Many times I had asked @captainkaprozyx if prints were available of their works, of their “Barrens” piece especially. Instead, I have been so blessed by @sdei and humbled in being sent the original artwork.

Barrens is a piece of monumental emotional importance to me. The colors, style, and mixed-media strokes are reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh’s, particularly in two specific works: Wheatfield with Crows (1890) and Irises (1889). 

Many with only passing knowledge of Van Gogh do not realize that the bulk of his paintings—especially his most famous—were all created over the course of a single year. It was the “Asylum Year”, as Van Gogh had admitted himself to the Saint-Paul asylum at Saint-Rémy and utilized painting as a form of grounding and therapy. 

Irises was the very first of these “asylum paintings” and also one of the flagship merchandise designs at my old workplace. Although I enjoyed working there, I struggled so severely with mental illness and suicidal ideation that I eventually had to leave. Seeing the irises evokes bittersweet memories of being functional and part of society, but also suffering without access to treatment.

Wheatfield with Crows is purported to be Van Gogh’s final painting before allegedly committing suicide in the same wheatfield in Saint-Rémy. Whether or not it truly was his final painting is still under debate, but it remains significant in heralding the end of an era (and the Wheatfield series). Much as Van Gogh felt he had to take advantage of the “intervals” of “calm” to be productive between periods of mental illness, I felt that the windows of time I had between suicidal episodes were becoming shorter and shorter. My own journey to such wheatfields seemed inevitable. 

For me, Barrens combines these two paintings and their emotional weight so beautifully. Obviously, it features a character who is extremely important to me for his own struggles with mental illness. But the piece is aesthetically beautiful, both spring and autumn all at once. And in that way it is both a start and an end to things, as is the moment it represents within the Warcraft universe: murdering the traitorous bronze dragon Kairozdormu with his shackled hands, Garrosh Hellscream attempts to break free of that timeline and forge a new destiny for himself in a world where he was never meant to belong. Not his grass, not his sky, but he dared to exist there anyway. 

The wheatfields of Nagrand are behind him, stained with someone else’s blood. The gnarled grasses reminiscent of the irises—a symbol of productivity and recovery, “the lightning conductor for my illness”—lie before him. 

Though definitely not on the same terms as Garrosh, I too hope to dare to exist. I want to dare to be alive in this world. I want to break free and forge my own destiny.

Kaprozyx, you are an amazingly talented artist. Please know I will treasure your work and your generous gifts forever. I cannot thank you enough.

BACKSTORY

    Holt Hyde is the son of the granddaughter of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, as well as Jackson Jekyll’s alternate personality. Holt grew up a very temperamental person, mostly due to self confusion and environmental causes. Sidney/Ramona and Ashton got divorced when Holt was young as 4 because of his mother’s duel persona which was too much for Ashton to deal with. Holt would continue to live with his mother and visit his father on weekends.

    Holt’s mother has a tendency to get fired from her jobs due to her own fiery temper, causing them to constantly move all throughout Massachusetts and even out of state. Holt has lived in a total of 8 states; Massachusetts, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Oregon, Florida, and Virginia. Holt’s mother has finally seemed to settle with her current job and would begin living in Salem. Holt spent his life being homeschooled until 2019 when he began attending Monster High for it’s night classes through the scholarship program.

    Ever since he can remember (which is not much according to him), he has had a passion for the arts. Music has been his life since he was little, and he usually spends his free time mixing tracks to play at gigs. He also holds a liking to art, particularly enjoying painting. Holt has simply always been an artistic, right-brained individual with an emotional heart.

Holt has never seen sunlight and believes that he is nocturnal. In reality, when the sun rises, Jackson Jekyll takes control of their shared body. Holt and Jackson are both unaware of each other's existence, though they have both had suspicions. They wouldn’t discover their dual nature until Sophomore year of high school.

Themes the Monster High movies tackled that were deeper than we thought as kids

Both Fright On and Ghouls Rule talked about racism. Fright On mostly with the racism between vampires and werewolves. The school (along with the headmistress) wanted to bring them together, which almost didn't work out thanks to a corrupt human (Van Hellscream) who petrified Bloodgood. Ghouls Rule talks about racism between humans and monsters in general. Hell, even police brutality! Jackson had to change into his monster persona (Holt) in order to get his classmates to listen to him. Not to mention Holt was almost straight up beheaded.

13 Wishes talks about how Howleen has trouble fitting in thanks to bullying, and she turns to Gigi for help when it starts getting bad. She starts using wishes to help people, but when Goria pushes her over the edge she gets desperate and wishes to be popular. (Unfortunately Gigi couldn't disobey her) This only makes things worse for her as the increased attention puts pressure on her and wishes for more selfish things, including wishing for her sister to disappear when Clawdeen was trying to tell her that what she's doing is wrong, and that she's pushing away the people that actually care about her. All Howleen wanted was validation and she turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Haunted talks about how harmful gossip can be. It focuses on Spectra and how she's so desperate to boost her blog that she'll turn to harmful rumors, and her friend have to convince her that it's not okay. (Just the typical high school-esque disease rumors like lice or fleas, but you get the idea) And in Spectra's old school, the principal enforces her authority by spreading false rumors about solids (non-ghosts), leading to corruption and chaos.

Freaky Fusions is the one that hit me the hardest. It has some pretty good neurodivergent rep (though not confirmed) and it has a character DIE. I love that they used Victor Frankenstein for this movie. Anyway, for most of the movie, Frankie has an identity crisis because she doesn't know her family history and her parents won't tell her. She and her friends find Robecca's dad's time travel machine (and Torelei accidentally activates it, and she's dragged through the mud a lot for it) and they end up going to the year Monster High was founded: 1814, where they meet Victor (actually he followed them through the time machine after Frankie talked to him and they didn't even know he was Victor Frankenstein). There's also these hybrid characters that help the fused girls deal with their new (and temporary) identity by introducing healthy habits, such as meditation, teamwork, and therapy. In the end, Frankie ends up dying from using up all her electricity (or love) but of course, because it's a kids movie she's brought back by the power of love (not a kiss thank god)

For the past two hundred years, Western culture has become enamored with the burial practices of the ancient Egyptians. Some sources have even claimed that the complex rituals performed by these people have recently caused their dead to reanimate and live again among us.

While these claims may just seem to be superstitions brought on by the Westerners’ dehumanization and fetishization of cultures they deem more “exotic” than their own, new evidence has been found that there may in fact have been supernatural occurrences in Egypt. My research team has traveled to the country and taken samples of the soil surrounding the pharaohs’ burial sites, as well as any artifacts we have deemed to contain unusual amounts of an energy source unfamiliar to us. After several tests we have concluded that there are similar atoms present in both the soil and in the artifacts, which look to carry no purpose previously described by known Egyptologists. I have presently labeled them as “amulets” until I can find a more accurate description.

Despite the foreign substances in the soil as well as the amulets, I have no concrete evidence that there are actual living mummies in Egypt. Nor do I have any hard proof of mummies in America, but I do have some potential points of interest: the teen model Nefera de Nile claims to be descended from a Ramses the Twelfth, whose reign is otherwise unrecorded, if he even exists; and according to a recent interview with businesswoman Lux Ptolemy, she and the rest of her family share similar religious beliefs with the ancient Egyptians.

Personally, I do not believe any of this. The identification of the upper class with the Egyptians is likely just another fad, similar to how their 19th-century predecessors would collect and unwrap the bodies of the ancient people.

In my option 3 characters should be limited and think carefully which characters would fit in the story and they would appear more in the future? Aside just appear background as cameo...

in Scaris: They just stick with Jinafire, Catrine and Skelita. Sorry Garrott but the movie is about Clawdeen entering a contest to become Moanatella's "apprentice"... Besides Garrott isn't MH student and lives in Scaris. I bet you almost forgot that he and Rochelle still together...

In Frights Camera Action!: Can they just stick Clawdia, Elissabat and Honey Swamp. Sorry Viperine, maybe in Deuce's family reunion in Greece would be more appropriate to introduce her ( I can't believe that never once Deuce and Viperina got interacted together)

In Freaky Fusion: Stick with Neighthan and Sirena and replace Avea and Bonita with Deuce, Lagoona and Jackson/ Holt (MH writers just forgot that Deuce is half human/gorgon, Lagoona is half sea monster/ocean nymph and Jackson is half human/monster/elemental)

In Haunted: Just stick with River, Porter and Kiyomi. Sorry Vandala but she seems out place in school setting. Perhaps in Shriekwrecked series would be perfect for Vandala

In Boo York: Just stick with Astranova, Luna and Mouscedes and replace Elle with Seth Ptomely.

I have nothing to say in Scarrier Reef: I just wish Finn Wake would be part of movie because he's siren and Gil's "stingray" form is pretty cool
