yaoi glasses off: inho's time with gihun has made him rethink his life choices, has given him a kid of hope in humanity that he had lost so many years ago and now he doesn't feel good playing the part of the frontman. the old inho is coming back, he feels guilty and sad, but hopeful. gihun is quite literally his light, and he has made sure to burn it.

squid game season 3 spoiler
Gi-Hun (after the inevitable Frontman reveal): if i had a nickel for every time I played the games and formed a close bond with player 001 only to be devastated when my choices directly lead to them being killed, and then later find out that not only did player 001 fake their death but turn out to be the person in charge of running the games, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
#squid game#seong gi hun#hwang in ho#the frontman#yes i binged squid game season 2 i currently have covid and I've been locked away in my home for the past 2 days what else was i gonna do#also... might be here for the toxic old man yaoi...#was very unexpected but the way in-ho would stare at gi-hun???? girl#i know he was ''studying'' him because he is fascinated by him and why he makes the choices he does instead of running away with the money#but like that's kind of hot. not sorry bc i can enjoy toxic things if i want.#and not like I'm rooting for a happy ending i just want them to fuck nasty and then inho dies because he's a terrible person#if gihun ends up killing inho >>>>>>>#but uhhh anyways season 2 was good just a little messy bc it is incomplete#I'm kinda pissed that they're advertising the next one as season 3 when it's clearly gonna be season 2 pt 2#maybe that marketing doesn't sell as well but it would be less annoying

I cannot emphasize enough how much everything In-ho did during his time in the games was in service of breaking down Gi-hun. Every glance, every story, every comment was incredibly and deliberately calculated.
His first interaction with Gi-hun immediately places the blame on Gi-hun for the games continuing: "I pressed the O because of you." He also explicitly asks for Gi-hun's help on behalf of the group. This sucks Gi-hun into being a mechanism of the games themselves (not just a player, but one telling others how to play) while robbing him of his agency to do so: whereas he was confident in helping during the first game, because it was his choice, In-ho's request forces him to share about the Dalgona prematurely, and he then has a nightmare about misleading the players. This also leads to many players becoming hostile when the game is not Dalgona, which--who could have guessed?--In-ho jumps in to stop. He orchestrated the situation so that Gi-hun would feel maximum pressure and guilt, before In-ho himself relieves it to build trust between them.
Then there are the introductions. In-ho uses Gi-hun's name before they are introduced, which may have been a genuine slip, but was very likely intentional given his response. In-ho's method throughout the games is to parallel and associate himself with Jung-bae, Gi-hun's only actual friend (he saves him during the merry-go-round games; he eavesdrops on Jung-bae's conversation with Gi-hun and directly uses the "get me a soju" line from that conversation to subconsciously build Gi-hun's trust in him during the firefight). So when he uses Gi-hun's name, he says he does so because he heard Jung-bae doing it, and Gi-hun allows him to continue--this creates the first of the links between them. But then, when they are properly introduced, In-ho laughs that "Seong" just means "last name;" in doing so, he implies to those who don't know him that Gi-hun may not be telling the truth, and in context of their conversation (focused on the significance of their names) highlights how Seong Gi-hun is "no one special." He's just an everyman.
Another reason that "slip" was almost certainly intentional is that In-ho is very deliberate about showing moments of weakness. His breakdown during the Six-Legged Race was designed to both further stress Gi-hun (and if Gi-hun had failed, they were in the very last groups present, so they could have been selectively spared as needed) and to strengthen their bond, as Gi-hun got to "encourage" In-ho; then In-ho helped Gi-hun and the team win by kicking with him the final time. Even cheering along with Gi-hun while the other teams went was in service of cementing their connection; and, any time a team failed, In-ho got to observe Gi-hun's reactions under the guise of empathy. In-ho may have felt some genuine emotions while cheering or comforting Gi-hun, but they aren't to be trusted.
That's particularly true because of his biggest "weak" moment: telling Gi-hun why he is in the games. The show confirms, when Jun-ho finds the winner file, that In-ho actually did join the games years before (from his family we know that it was because of his wife's illness), and that he won them himself. So he isn't lying about the details of his personal story--and he even gets emotional--but it is, once again, all in service of ensnaring Gi-hun and earning his trust. In-ho is not faking all of his emotions, but he is controlling and weaponizing them, which is why none of his apparent fondness for Gi-hun can be trusted. He uses his emotions as a tool, rather than being affected by them.
The ultimate result of this manipulation is that Gi-hun is made to feel that everything that happens is his choice (even the things he didn't choose). From the beginning, In-ho has ascribed his choices to Gi-hun. Throughout the games, there are several moments where In-ho explicitly has Gi-hun choose for him; other times, In-ho suggests an approach and Gi-hun shoots it down, and In-ho always coalesces. Gi-hun gets to have "his way." But "his way" doesn't seem to work, and he, like the rest of the players, is changed by the games. His final plan, as In-ho forces him to face, involves a sacrifice of some for the good of the many. Only after he admits this (through his silence) does In-ho agree to help. Then, during the firefight, when Gi-hun tries to give In-ho the ammunition he risked his life to get, In-ho asks, "Are you sure?" Gi-hun's choice to trust In-ho leads to him running out of ammunition earlier, forcing his surrender; meanwhile, In-ho still "dies," and Jung-bae is shot in front of Gi-hun's eyes. None of Gi-hun's choices made things better--they made it all his fault. He is left with the blame, as the Frontman (who is In-ho! And always has been!) tells him point blank.
But none of Gi-hun's choices have really been choices. They have all been based on lies, within a system that uses the information they have to actively orchestrate events against him. The same is true of the players in the game; their choices are not free, because their circumstances (largely caused by unfairness in the world) have trapped them. The baseness they resort to is not what they would do if they really had the choice, and some are even able to choose virtue within the hellscape, but over and over, the system facilitates the dominance of cruelty. And In-ho, the personification of that system, targets Seong Gi-hun, the "Everyman," to make him submit to it--to make him choose to believe that there is no other way.
#seong gi hun#hwang in ho#squid game#squid game 2#meta#my meta posts#kay can i just catch my breath for a second#this took me a while but i think it was worth it#and many people have already commented on how clearly this is an allegory for how society works in relation to us‚ the people in it#so i don't need to get into that but just to say it so that i have: we always have a choice.#and i hope against hope that gi-hun is somehow able to continue making that choice‚ the right choice‚ to believe in the good of humanity#to believe in a way out and a way forward if we just work together‚ if we just look into the face of a stranger and see a fellow man#because i believe in that. i *have* to believe in that. it is the only way to survive and the only way to have joy#and my fear is that the narrative is clearly leaning toward tragedy. toward turning him into the next frontman‚ or killing him#and that would be a sore loss indeed. people call him stupid and naïve but to me he reads as orpheus#not unaware of the way the world works‚ but refusing to accept it. desperate to show us 'how the world could be...'#'...in spite of the way that it is.' and in response i can only hope: 'maybe it will turn out this time‚ on the road to hell...'#'it's a sad song. but we're gonna sing it even so.'#kay has a party in the tags

mitski’s “i bet on losing dogs” is about gihun’s flawed but altruistic drive to do what’s good, although it ultimately costs him and inflicts wounds in himself and those he loves that will never heal, not even to scar. “I know they're losing and I'll pay for my place by the ring, where I'll be looking in their eyes when they're down. I'll be there on their side. I'm losing by their side. I wanna feel it.” his mission to value the lives of others functionally comes at the cost of his own, which is masochistic but ultimately freeing because he’s lived in debt for years and constantly been aware of the monetary cost placed on his spirit and body. “Will you let me, baby, lose on losing dogs?” is a question rhetorically posed to both inho and sangwoo, both of whom dismiss the question as pointless or illogical (respectively), but deep down recognize that they themselves are the losing dogs and gihun’s devotion to them is not singular but an extension of his moral backbone. they hate themselves but can’t bring themselves to hate gihun so instead must resent the question, because there is nothing so bruising or so incapacitating as a reminder of their own lack of undeserved worth. there is a price to dignity and yet gihun would never name it, would rather die with them. if he can’t he’d stay with them while they went and lose himself all the more. inho watched gihun’s last moments with sangwoo and knew this. sangwoo was loved and still died like a dog in the dirt, and inho wills himself into his place because gihun will be with him to mourn the kind of man he once was and through the manufactured death of youngil, he will know that his life meant something to gihun. what sweeter death is there than that.
and marina’s “are you satisfied?” is about sangwoo bc he was a burnt out gifted kid. wow i can’t believe mitski and marina saw into the future and wrote those absolutely bangers using their powers of foresight and lyricism. absolutely legends for that
#squid game#gihun x inho#gihun x frontman#cho sangwoo#seong gihun#457#sangihun#hwang inho#every song that’s ever been written and blasted into my headphones has been about them what a coincidence#my every waking thought is about them and the love triangle with a ghost ahhhh AHHH#sangwoo lives but only rent free in gihuns mind and the muscle memory of his heart#smt smt smt inho seethes bc the way into gihuns heart and mind is through a dead man who took what he had for granted#obvs gihun’s devotion duh duh duh

He was literally teared up here ... did he genuinely feel upset that he was betraying Gi Hun here ?
#squid game#squid games#hwang in ho#the frontman#seong gi hun#001 x 456#457#This is so interesting to me like he was just faking his death here#He wouldn't of been upset about that#Nor the man dying in front of him#So . It's Gi Hun that was making him FEEL SOMETHING HERE#Wether it be because he genuinely felt a connection with him during the games#And has to betray him and go back to being the Frontman and stopping Gi Hun from being the hero#And he's upset he might have to hurt him because of it ?#His morals are gonna get in the way here either way ... All because of Gi Hun#Crazy either way This man won't leave my brain he's so interesting

Fine, I'll admit it. With long hair...
He's very attractive. He really is.
But, he's a harebrained trend chaser, who will butcher his good looks for fickle fashion.
He also looks like he should be wearing a kilt, not a cloak. Because of the long red hair, not David's nationality.
#good omens#crowley#good omens crowley#diary pages#good omens fandom#fine he's handsome hot even#but he's a trend chaser#no i get adapting and that he'd need to have short hair in certain time periods like the roman empire#but when one can why not return to your best looks - he seems like he ditched the mane forever#crowley you stupid idiot moron#also did he come from hell or did he escape from braveheard he looks scottish with a trademark sign#maybe it's a bi girl thing maybe it's a me thing but men usually have to have long hair for me to find them attractive#there are exeptions paul bettany as michael in legion the frontman of behemoth even michael langdon#don't get me wrong david's a very good looking man but he's not eye candy short haired XD#tbh everyone men AND women are mostly attractive me with long hair#good omens gifs#my gifs#david tennant#trend chasing is lame tbh some style choices are to be timeless#wait speaking of that does he wear the sunglasses so people wouldn't assume he's wearing colored contacts#me to my fem!Crowley: my baby#me to regular Crowley: you stupid idiot moron

Funniest thing about the Squid Game fandom so far is that the majority of them are fully accepting of the idea that a male character is a woman, but think it’s completely ridiculous to imply that the frontman has a problematic crush on Gi-hun
#I keep seeing edits of the frontman staring him down#and the captions are like ‘was it casual when he [blank]’#and thanks to my homonormative worldview I completely buy the theory#but it’s hilarious that so much of the fandom doesn’t???#but then will look at a man with painted nails and earrings and be like ‘ah yes a femme fatale woman’#WHAT#how is that more believable than toxic obsessive romance trope#my ramblings

The Midnight Misunderstanding
Pairing: Frontman/Hwang In-Ho x Pregnant!Wife!Reader
Summary: You give in to your late-night pregnancy cravings and slip out quietly, leaving your husband, Hwang In-ho, to wake up in a frenzy when he finds you missing.
Warnings: Angst, Fear of losing someone, grief, pregnancy, cravings, gun, slight fluff, soft-Inho.
Late into the night, you stretch quietly in bed, your mind drifting through sleepy fog and growing sharper with an insistent craving. Turning to your side, you see your husband, Hwang In-ho, sleeping peacefully beside you. The chill of the night air sends shivers down your spine, but the thought of satisfying your craving warms you with determination. The clock reads 2:47 AM.
Knowing how hard In-ho has been working and how much rest he needs, you decide to slip out discreetly, believing you can make it back before he even notices. You pull on a warm coat, gather your essentials, and tiptoe out the door, careful to close it softly behind you.
Hours seem to pass in what feels like minutes. In-ho stirs awake, reaching out to find your side of the bed cold and empty. He blinks groggily, thinking you might be in another room. "Y/N?" he calls softly, expecting a quick reply or the distant hum of your voice.
When no response comes, he rises slowly, the initial calm giving way to a creeping unease. He checks the adjoining bathroom, then the kitchen, and each empty room sends another pang of worry coursing through him. The house feels eerily quiet, and with each step, the calm facade he tried to maintain begins to crack.
As he makes his way through the silent hallways and finds no sign of you anywhere, panic floods through him instantly. Memories of losing his first wife surge into his mind, and the dread of facing the same heart-wrenching loss with you engulfs him like a tidal wave.
Terror grips his chest as he moves more frantically now. "Yeobo?" he calls out again, his voice slicing through the silence like a knife, but only the echo of his own voice answers him back. His heart races uncontrollably as he grabs his phone, his hands shaking with a mix of fear and urgency.
"I can't find my wife," he says, his voice quivering as he speaks to his guards. "Search the building immediately," he commands, his tone rigid and leaving no room for delay. The icy fingers of fear grip his heart, the stakes now higher than ever with the thought of losing you and the baby—his entire world teetering on the brink of uncertainty.
As he listens to the hurried replies of his guards springing into action, he pulls open the drawer beside his bed and grabs his gun, the cold weight of the metal feeling reassuring in his hand. The transformation is swift—his usual calm demeanor gives way to the steely resolve of the Front Man.
He methodically sweeps through the apartment, each shadow and creak heightening his anxiety. Has something sinister befallen you? Could Gi-hun, that determined Player 456, have somehow found you? The uncertainty gnaws at him, each tick of the clock echoing louder in the eerily quiet apartment. His thoughts race wildly, the sense of impending dread building with each passing second.
Just as his mind threatens to overwhelm him, the soft click of the door breaks the silence. He pivots sharply, raising his gun, only to freeze as you step back inside with a small stack of snacks and an apologetic smile. The weight of the moment crashes over him, the relief almost too much to bear.
"In-ho," you start, but the torrent of emotions inside him is already surging to the surface. He lowers the gun, his hands trembling.
"Where were you?" His voice is a mix of anger, relief, and lingering fear. He steps forward, his eyes scanning you from head to toe, ensuring you're really there and unharmed.
"I... I couldn’t sleep," you say softly, holding up the snacks as a peace offering. "I thought some comfort food might help. I’m sorry if I worried you."
He releases a breath he didn’t realize he was holding, the tension in his shoulders slowly fading. He pulls you into a fierce embrace, holding you as if you might disappear if he let go. The feel of you, warm and real in his arms, does more to calm his racing heart than anything else.
"I thought..." his voice breaks, unable to finish the sentence. The memories of his first loss are still too raw, the pain too fresh.
You pull back slightly and cup his face in your hands, your eyes filled with understanding and love. "I'm here. I’m not going anywhere," you reassure him, gently stroking his cheek.
He leans into your touch, closing his eyes for a moment to gather his thoughts. When he opens them, there's a new resolve mirrored in their depths. "Next time, wake me," he pleads softly. "I can't... I won't lose you and the baby. You both mean everything to me."
You nod, your heart aching for the pain he’s been through. "I promise," you whisper, and he takes a deep breath, slowly finding his composure again.
With his arm protectively around you, he leads you back to the bedroom. The soft glow of the bedside lamp casts a warm, reassuring light on your path.
With measured steps, he walks over to the dresser and slides the gun back into the drawer, locking it firmly to ensure it’s secure. The sight of him putting the weapon away brings a greater sense of calm to both of you.
As you reach the bed, he gently guides you to sit on the edge before kneeling in front of you.
His eyes soften as he places his hands on your growing belly, the life inside a beacon of hope amidst his fears. He leans in, tenderly kissing your pregnant belly, a silent vow of protection and love to both you and the unborn child.
"We’re in this together," he murmurs, his lips lingering on your skin. You smile down at him, your hand resting on his head.
Under the covers, he keeps you close, one arm wrapped protectively around you, his hand resting gently on your stomach. The snacks are forgotten on the bedside table as sleep finally takes over, but this time, it’s a peaceful sleep, secure in the knowledge that you’re safe and by his side.
