(....ok that made me sound pretentious as fuck. and maybe i am, but this needs to be said, cause i’m getting....real, real tired of a Certain Corner of this fandom and as a result, this is gonna be a discourse-heavy post so feel free to scroll past if that’s not your bag. as always, my salt posts all carry the catch-all #salt for ts tag, which you’re free to blacklist/filter at your leisure. i’m Very Annoyed at the moment, which will probably come through in the following post, so just. yknow. be prepared for that. or ignore it, that’s perfectly valid too.)

there’s a real serious issue in this fandom with not understanding what queer terminology actually means or implies, especially when applied to a fictional narrative.

i’m specifically talking about ‘coding’, here. (if i were in a more meme-y mood, i might have said ‘the atla fandom found out about the term “gay-coding” and haven’t shut up since’.)

to the people who say ‘zuko is gay-coded’, i have this to say: you keep using that word. i do not think it means what you think it means. because he isn’t. i’m sorry, but he’s not! and the fact that this is such a prevalent claim in this fandom is distressing, bc it says to me that none of y’all know what gay-coding is or when and how to apply it! please, i’m begging you, go and look up these terms and what they mean and when they should be used before actually trying to plug them into your critical analysis, because when you misuse them and then call other people delusional for disagreeing with you it casts a pall over the entire fandom and is, i think, the root of some of the worst toxicity this fandom has to offer.

and the thing is, there are cases where gay-coding would apply--for instance, a couple series that are famous for queerbaiting their audience by coding their main characters as being attracted to one another (sometimes even despite their openly stated sexualities) come to mind, but those shows bare no similarities at all to atla and how zuko was written and portrayed! (and it would be funny, if it weren’t so obnoxious and infuriatingly wide-spread throughout the fandom, because the only queer couple we actually seen on-screen in either show wasn’t even queer-coded in any respect, and they’re canonically bi! [yes, i’m shading korrasami, or more accurately i’m shading bryke for refusing to give ka the build-up and development they deserved].)

this absolutely isn’t to say that headcanoning zuko as gay is a bad thing or invalid in any respect. (although the tendency for zukka shippers to do this specifically to keep zuko away from katara and/or invalidate his canon relationship/attraction to girls is more than a little eyebrow raising. especially since sokka is usually allowed to be bi, bc fans have no problem letting sukka stay in the background bc it’s no real threat, while jetko shippers are happy to have both boys be bi. [possibly bc katara is less a threat to jetko bc jetkotara is every bit as valid as any single ship between the three, but zukka can’t exactly let katara join in, and if the potential exists for zuko to be attracted to her then canon giving them the far deeper emotional bond becomes a threat to zukka’s existence? idk for sure--you be the judge.]) i prefer to hc zuko as bi (and always have, long before the atla renaissance), bc i don’t think zuko being attracted to boys is outside the realm of possibility, and it isn’t a threat to my ship since zuko&katara had a deep and emotional bond in canon that is very easy to develop further into something that becomes explicitly romantic--but the headcanon itself isn’t really the problem (although what it’s often in service to can be).

it’s the strange insistence that this is the only way to read his character, bc he was coded that way and so anyone who doesn’t see it must be too straight to understand--and i really shouldn’t have to say why and how that is so incredibly fucking insulting. (the ‘hetero lenses’ comment wasn’t cute when it came from bryke six years ago, and the same sentiment being repackaged and delivered by zukka shippers ain’t cute now.)

calling zuko gay-coded not only demonstrates ignorance as to what the term actually means, and how to usefully apply it in critical analysis, but also validates the frankly bullshit insertion of institutionalized homophobia in the world of atla where it was neither needed, nor wanted, nor ever hinted at in canon. as a queer woman i’m still infuriated by one fucking comic panel shoving institutionalized and systemic homophobia into a world where it was entirely unnecessary (and doing this in the first installment of the franchise showcasing a queer relationship??? making korra and asami worried about ‘coming out’ when they could have just gone on to have cute adventures together and tell people ‘hey we’re dating’ and have everyone else be ‘that’s awesome =DDD’ [because it is, in fact, possible to just have a world without homophobia i promise!!!!!] double yikes, i’m still pissed at bryke about it), and i doubly hate that ‘zuko is gay coded’ has become so widespread that ‘ozai hates him bc he’s gay’ has become a staple in that part of the fandom.

not only does making zuko gay and implying (or outright stating) that ozai hated and abused him because of it completely undermine zuko’s character arc by making his abuse about his sexuality rather than ozai’s toxic pride and anger at seeing himself reflected in his ‘weak’ son, but it comes very close to outright stating that abuse and trauma are inherently gay experiences, and they aren’t!!! they really aren’t, i promise!!!

abuse and trauma narratives exist outside of ‘my dad hates me because i’m gay’. and, quite frankly, there are MORE THAN ENOUGH queer trauma narratives out in the world. we do not need to start trying to retroactively make them canon in a series where they didn’t exist! if you’re gay and see yourself in zuko and project your own experiences on him, that’s understandable and valid. that does not make zuko gay-coded. and honestly, the insistence that he is makes very little sense to me, because you’re essentially trying to give the show credit for work you put into interpreting the characters! why would you want to do that? why not own your own headcanons and take credit for them, rather than insisting they are canon and everyone else is wrong for not seeing them??? like, i’ve said before that i’ve always headcanoned zuko (and katara) as bi, and even support it with my interpretations of evidence from the show, but the difference between ‘i think zuko is bi’ and ‘zuko is definitely gay-coded’ is that i know that bi zuko is my interpretation of canon, and that it is work i’m putting into the show that wasn’t actually intended by the creators/writers, no matter how much sexual tension i read into the jetko swordfight.

and like, zuko’s character arc doesn’t actually parallel a queer one all that well to begin with. it’s easy enough to do the work and twist it sideways just enough to make the general points fit, but the fact is, zuko’s arc is not one of self-discovery. it’s not one of coming to understand something fundamental about himself that he can’t change, that he was hated for, and coming out to his father in a dramatic confrontation where he shows that he understands himself and doesn’t need his father’s acceptance to be fulfilled.

zuko’s arc is actually one of trauma and healing. and those can (and often are--like i said, there are more than enough queer trauma narratives in the world, atla really doesn’t need to be one of them) be part of queer narratives, for sure! but they aren’t uniquely queer. and zuko’s confrontation with ozai during the eclipse doesn’t read like a ‘coming out’ at all. (yes, i’ve seen that post. yes, i rolled my eyes and moved on, bc unlike some people, i’m capable of not clowning on correctly tagged posts i disagree with.) zuko is specifically confronting ozai over his abuse, because his arc wasn’t about discovering anything fundamental about himself (and therefore realizing that ozai was hating him for something he couldn’t change)--it was about realizing that he was not at fault for the way his father treated him. it was also about realizing that the fire nation was broken and corrupt at its core, and that his father was an aspect of that he needed to break away from so that he could help the world begin to heal.

he says it himself:

Zuko: No, I've learned everything! And I've had to learn it on my own! Growing up, we were taught that the Fire Nation was the greatest civilization in history. And somehow, the War was our way of sharing our greatness with the rest of the world. What an amazing lie that was. The people of the world are terrified by the Fire Nation. They don't see our greatness. They hate us! And we deserve it! We've created an era of fear in the world. And if we don't want the world to destroy itself, we need to replace it with an era of peace and kindness.

making this about zuko being gay and rejecting ozai’s homophobia, rather than zuko learning fundamental truths about the world and about his home and about how there was something deeply wrong with his nation that needed to be fixed in order for the world to heal (and, no, ‘homophobia’ is not the answer to ‘what is wrong with the fire nation’, i’m still fucking pissed at bryke about that), misses the entire point of his character arc. this is the culmination of zuko realizing that he should never have had to earn his father’s love, because that should have been unconditional from the start. this is zuko realizing that he was not at fault for his father’s abuse--that speaking out of turn in a war meeting in no way justified fighting a duel with a child.

is that first realization (that a parent’s love should be unconditional, and if it isn’t, then that is the parent’s fault and not the child’s) something that queer kids in homophobic households/families can relate to? of course it is. but it’s also something that every other abused kid, straight kids and even queer kids who were abused for other reasons before they even knew they were anything other than cishet, can relate to as well. in that respect, it is not a uniquely queer experience, nor is it a uniquely queer story, and zuko not being attracted to girls (which is what a lot of it seems to boil down to, at the end of the day--cutting down zuko’s potential ships so that only zukka and a few far more niche ships are left standing) is not necessary to his character arc. nor does it particularly make sense.

(and before anyone brings up his date with jin--a) he enjoyed it when she kissed him, and b) he was a traumatized, abused child going out on a first date. of course he was fucking awkward. have you ever met a teenage boy????)

anyway, uh, that was a lot of words, so have a tl;dr: zuko is not gay-coded. there is nothing uniquely gay (or even uniquely queer) about his character arc or characterization, and he was certainly not coded gay in an attempt to sneak a queer character past the censors. if anyone involved with atla was gonna try that, it would’ve been in lok, and as established, they didn’t even manage to queer-code the actual queer relationship before the last few minutes of the final episode. headcanoning zuko as gay is absolutely fine (though if it’s only done to keep him away from female characters he may otherwise be attracted to, that smells more like misogyny than anything else), but insisting that this reading is the only one that makes sense, and anyone who doesn’t agree must be straight (hello, queer woman here making this insanely long thinkpiece) is very much not.

ship what you like, but stop trying to invalidate other ships and other interpretations of characters just to make your ship seem more plausible. it’s really not a good look.

For the writing meme thingy: 🍄how do you get yourself in the mood to write? 🍑 do you/would you write smut? 📒 any fics planned?

🍄 How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

Getting in the mood to write and actually wanting to sit down and start writing are two very different things, but they're connected, so I'll explain both.

To set into “creative mode” it helps me to do these things:

Listen to music that makes me think of a character/situation in my story/stories. I've got playlists separated by character and pairing. Sometimes I also just work on curating those playlists for fun and get my brain going.

Bounce overall ideas off of my friends and husband/editor (but he's my best friend, too 💗)

Reread old chapters or recent ones and future snippets based on what I want to do.

Once I actually want to put words down, I get a little more strict with myself. I get distracted verrrry easily sometimes and I have to fight the urge to open a million more tabs when researching a small detail.

I move to instrumental music (I have playlists for different moods like “emotional”, “soft”, “sad”, etc. I usually listen to “soft” as a general soothing background sound, as I can get pretty dang emotional when I write, especially with the stuff I've been churning out lately.

So, yeah, I need tissues within reach if I get upset. (Wow, I'm not making this sound fun at all, lmao)

After sound has been established, I like to eat a snack (something with protein) because I can be under for hours, lol. Eat it and finish it. Otherwise, I get distracted.

I also like to have drinks available. I always have a bottle of water, but I also like having a hot cup of tea. I think it's the time of year for me to switch to cold barley tea.

I write while seated on a recliner with my feet up. I have my laptop on a lap desk and it's a pretty cozy setup.

I basically try to remove any excuse I have to get up once I start writing, because I am the worst procrastinator I know.

🍑Do you/would you write smut?

Heheh... heck yeah, I do. Waaaaay more than most people realize. Stuff I've actually posted? It's pretty limited. I posted a couple pieces (Let Me Love You and You're Like the Sunshine) a few years ago, but I've been practicing ever since. One of my planned stories literally has what I refer to as a “smut dump” in the draft where I've been experimenting with writing different moods. I like the intimate scenes to play a role in the overall plot or have it be a bonding experience.

Despite that, I do have a shameless Gray x Mary story I should just get out there that has zero plot, just two cuties in love. In my mind it's so naughty and kinky and I get flustered thinking about it (Mary is hot, okay?), but it's probably hella vanilla, lmao. I really am grateful that people have been really supportive about my writing smut despite what I usually write, and they've been so encouraging, too! I honestly feel like the smut I've posted is really stilted because I was so self-conscious about it. I don't feel like they are terrible for first attempts, but I have definitely grown more comfortable writing it.

Will The Shy Newcomer become explicit? I kinda really want it to, but I might separate the chapters for those who don't care for that content. Overall, I'd like to write more and post more, and I want to write more than just male x female smut as well. I have some of those in my planned pieces (more about them later).

I have so many WIPs that haven’t been touched in years that I’d like to finish, so new planned fics aren’t posted yet. Some of them have more adult themes than most of the stuff I’ve been writing, so I get flustered sharing them. I’ve been at a crossroads, as I feel that you can’t have growth without changing things up. On the other hand, I feel like a lot of my readers associate my works with a specific “wholesome” feel-good mood. It’s kinda nice to be known for something, although that might just be my ego talking, thinking that people recognize my work as a “type”.

Regardless, in the end, I feel growth is necessary.

I don’t want to leave a lot of unfinished WIPs waiting because they stress me out and I have too many of them already, so I’d like to have a bulk of my new stories with a good chunk written before I decide to post them.

Among those include:

A longfic featuring Pete’s farm in Forget-Me-Not Valley (A blend of HMDS with the FoMT plugin and AWL). It takes place in the same universe as The Shy Newcomer (Claire in Mineral Town) and there are a few overlapping moments, although Pete’s story starts first. Pete’s personality is verrry different from Claire’s, and his story was kind of supposed to be the yang to TSN’s yin. Pete’s best friends in his story are Ruby (not sure if I’m adding Tim yet), Nami, and Rock. Readers will be treated to a poorly-socialized pre-Mineral Town Cliff (if you think he was bad at the beginning of TSN, well… heh… he’s a wreck here).

Another planned unpublished story is a crossover of Harvest Moon and the movie “In This Corner of the World”, based on a manga of the same name by Fumiyo Kouno. It was written as a gift for a friend. I have the entire outline figured out and have slowly been filling it in. My friend asked for an AU where Claire and Cliff have an arranged marriage and live with his family in Akiyama, the hometown I had created for Cliff in The Shy Newcomer. I took the opportunity to expand the characters in his family. I have it written during the same time period and society as “In This Corner of the World”, but had decided to write a spreading disease as an allegory for war, but then COVID happened and some parts of it just got really hard to write. There are also a lot of sexually explicit content as Claire slowly grows and learns from her spouse that it’s okay to express what she wants despite sex being a taboo issue. If there’s enough interest in the story, I’ll post it, but I worry it’s a little too niche for there to be many people into it.

Pastor Carter and Doctor Trent are one of my favorite rare pair ships. I’ve had a partial draft for a story about them for a few years now, especially focusing on Trent growing up and acknowledging that he has an unhealthy addiction for things that he knows he can’t have. There are some more adult/sexual themes in this piece, too, including the main character lusting after a married woman (who also happens to be his patient) and some lemons. (Does anyone call it that anymore or is it just referred to as “smut” nowadays? Haha) I always feel so bad for neglecting the folks at the clinic in-game and wanted to write a piece that focused more on them, Trent specifically. It’s a multi-chap fic, but I don’t think I’m going to let it get as long as some of my other pieces.

I also really want to write a short romantic oneshot for every marriage candidate in Mineral Town, around 1,000 words each. So far, I have one for Cliff and one for Gray. I want to write Claire with everyone, because I think it would be fun to explore all the different personalities.

I have more installments planned for A Single Day, including a day in the life of the following characters, all with drafts in varying degrees of progress:

I do still have that Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask piece I’ve been pondering where Link befriends the soul of the deku scrub child while possessed by the mask. I don’t have much written about it, but I really love the world of Majora’s Mask. Such a fun game.

I also think about the lead carpenter’s son in Ocarina of Time and that weird side quest involving the blue chicken and the son being lost to the forest. Then that unique-looking kokiri girl explaining that all who get taken in the lost woods become stalfos. Like, did the guy die? Was he sick? Did he want to die? There’s just so much going on there that would be fun to explore.

I also have played OMORI recently and have like… A LOT of feelings about it. I don’t know what I’d write, but I’m still damn impressed at how well the characters are developed in such a short game.

Other games I’ve had vague ideas about writing for include the following:

The Flame in the Flood: I’m thinking a survivalist/action story fleshing out Scout’s backstory a bit more and her thoughts as she’s traveling. I feel like she’s a very lonely person, but isn’t given the chance to really dwell on it.

Night In the Woods: I’d love to write more about Mae’s dreams and what they mean to her. She doesn’t really talk to anyone about them openly, so it’s really hard to tell her feelings about them in some regards. We know that she’s distressed about them, but I’d like to dive a little deeper. Do the nightmares end after the games does? What about Bea’s new nightmares?

Hades (Supergiant Games): I think it would be fun to write more about the events that take place before the game starts, like Zagreus’s duties in the house of Hades, and expand on the strained relationship with his father.

i finished ootp so here are my notes/modifications/headcanons etc etc. long post ahead so be warned lmao!

molly’s stress. harry noticed it as soon as he saw her. she still has the strength to give a rib cracking hug to harry of course, as she always does when she sees him. but the stress of everything, the worry she feels about the impending doom they’re all facing, the fact that she keeps thinking about her family dying has caused so much stress that she doesn’t eat nearly as much as she used to. she’s grown thinner due to the stress and it’s just really sad.

the twins and their inventions are still driving molly up the wall. the orders meetings are secret, not meant for the children to hear and so when she discovered the extendable ears, she probably lost it. she’s already highly stressed out and snappy because she has to be in constant quarters with sirius whom, at this point in time, she does not like. she gets a headache often too and so that was a kind of final straw sort of thing for her. just got real pissed at the twins.

not only is she stressed about the war and possibly losing everyone she loves, but she’s in a terrible state because of the fight that arthur and percy had. she loves both very much, and knowing that percy wants nothing to do with them really stings. all she wants is for him to be there with them, she feels incomplete without percy around and she’s often crying at the mere mention of her son.

molly loves tonks, but a lot of the time she’s really annoyed at how clumsy she is. again, it’s nothing really against tonks or anyone in particular, it’s just she’s dealing with a lot right now and the little things set her off.

molly hates mundungus because she doesn’t like how shifty he is. she really doesn’t trust him at all. and she never will tbh.

the twins deciding to use magic to “help” only to make a mess. molly has just had it. she’s done. with everything. it’s unfortunate that the twins often get the wrath but they push her buttons quite often so can she really be blamed?

molly hates that no one backed her up at the meeting. she only wants to protect harry and her own children, she doesn’t want them hearing the dangers, but even arthur wouldn’t back her up which ended up putting her in an even worse mood than she already was. really, in grimmauld place she’s pretty much always pissed off because of how stressful she finds the household to be.

molly and sirius are cousins by marriage. honestly i love that.

i think that molly is very insistent on cleaning the place because it offers a distraction. she can focus on the cleaning instead of focusing on her fears which are growing ever more present the closer they get to the school year.

molly wearing a purple quilted nightgown is the cutest thing okay. not really relevant, just cute.

molly being the typical mom to harry was fussing over him before the hearing. trying to brush his hair and make him look good was an aesthetic.

i can’t believe the boys made ginny fall down the stairs. and molly was not happy about it in the slightest, so she was just in a very bad mood escorting harry to the platform. even more so because sirius decided to tag along.

molly definitely never approves of sirius trying to leave the house. stay in the house sirius. and stop trying to contact harry you’re gonna get in trouble.

if molly ever found out what percy wrote to ron, she’d be even more upset than she already is.

molly didn’t want the kids to talk about harry producing the patronus, because she know that he gets enough attention as it is and she doesn’t want him drawing even more of it. the boy deserves a break.

if molly knew her baby girl was dating somebody she would lose her shit.

molly doesn’t want her kids to participate in the dumbledores army thing. but in my headcanon, especially in molly’s hogwarts au, she would support it. because molly herself, after her brothers died spent a lot of time researching the dark arts and how to defend herself and her family. and she would want her kids to know how to save themselves as well. and she knows that umbridge is fucking useless. and in said hogwarts verse i think she’d even offer to harry if he needed any assistance she would be there for him. because as we all know molly is one of the most badass bitches in the wizarding world.

molly was on duty for the order, which i assume means she was doing the same job as arthur. guarding the prophecy which kind of gives me anxiety because what if it had been her that got attacked. i can’t even imagine that nope no thank you.

molly would’ve been absolutely furious with malfoy if she heard the song he made up about ron. and in her hogwarts verse, she would’ve had to stop the twins and harry from beating up malfoy even if she would’ve liked to see it because he deserves it. she also would’ve gone after ron to make sure he was okay, and probably cuddle him against his will.

molly would’ve known before receiving dumbledores message that arthur was in danger. the clock would’ve told her, because she wouldn’t have been asleep. without arthur by her side she finds it very difficult to sleep. and with what he was doing, guarding the prophecy she would’ve been even more worried and unable to sleep. so she would’ve seen that he was in danger and probably started panicking. and when the message confirmed what happened she would’ve definitely cried. she went straight to him, and seeing him in such a state would be very difficult for her indeed.

all she wanted was the comfort of her children. she needed it as much as they did. and being able to hold them and say it’d be okay was such a relief to her. she was also so grateful to sirius for allowing them all to stay, and honestly that moment was the start of her actually liking him. the fact that he was so willing to help out after how she’s been towards him just completely changed her tune about him.

harry is a son to both arthur and molly, so naturally she would want him to be in the room visiting as well. he’s family too.

the kids kept asking questions to arthur and molly was not having it. so finally she told them to get out.

molly would’ve been very worried about harry during the christmas break, and how he wasn’t joining them and distancing himself. she would understand and wouldn’t push him to do anything, but she would be very worried.

of course molly was extremely heartbroken when the gifts she sent to percy were sent back. she doesn’t understand why she has to be punished this way as well. she loves percy so much, and to be treated this way from her own child brings her more pain than she’s ever felt in her life.

molly would be very upset to learn that the death eater who killed her brothers escaped. she would feel overcome with rage and despair.

the fireworks that the twins set off? she’d love it. she fucking hates umbridge so she really couldn’t care less. like especially in her hogwarts verse she’d just be grinning at them and be so proud of them.

molly would also be so proud of minerva and how she reacts around umbridge. the woman has more restraint than molly would ever have.

book molly would probably be pissed that the twins quit school. my molly though, she’d be mildly upset at first but she’d also be kind of impressed.

in her hogwarts verse, molly p much follows minerva every where, especially when it comes to things like what umbridge was trying to do to hagrid. molly would’ve been there with minerva, and seeing them stun her? oh she’d be pissed and they’d probably all be on the ground in seconds flat because no one touches her best friend and gets away with it.

i want to imagine molly and arthur showing up with the order to help fight off the death eaters. and i would also like to imagine molly killing the death eater that killed her brothers because she deserves that revenge.

finally, molly would’ve joined in with the orders warnings to the dursleys, probably threatening that if they mistreated harry one more time she’d show up there and make them regret every decision they’ve ever made.

The biggest bomb has finally been dropped. Candace finds out her son is dead. Omg!!! What will she do? It was also good to see, and Candace does love someone other than herself. She loves her brother, Benny. Let's jump into the recap and review. It's time to discuss The Have and the Have Nots.

I was waiting for Candace response to Charles fix it method for Quincy's murder. I guess he also felt Candace was heartless. Candace turns down Charles offer. She could have it all with the most powerful man in the world; however, it would cause her brother's freedom. Candace refuse to let Benny go down for a murder he didn't do. Charles must have dig so deep into Candace's life. He knows way too much about everything. He seemed surprised that Candace made it clear, she would turn herself in before allowing her brother to go to jail. Charles doesn't know that kind of love. That's confusing because he has kids. Charles wants to take Candace to the inauguration. Being that she is wanted for murder, that wouldn't look good for him. Quincy's death is too public; someone has to take the blame for it. Candace can't believe Charles set her brother up for the murder. It all appeared to be smothering Candace. She asks Charles to leave her hotel room. By not agreeing to set Benny up, Candace gave up her start over opportunity.

It may be hope for Wyatt after all. Looks like he was trying to get his life in order.  I am trying to understand how Anna is going to fit into this. Her and Wyatt flirt with each other a little. She is going to be staying with Wyatt for awhile. To keep Wyatt sober and clean a plan has to be done. Wyatt completed a questionnaire. Interesting he wanted to be a firefighter. Wyatt feels like his life always been controlled by Jim and Katheryn.  Maybe it has but can't blame his choices on his parents.  Wyatt has been through a lot, but his choices are on him. I think this time he will indeed stay clean. I also wish he stop seeing Jeffrey as a gay man that's in love with him. He is, but he is more of his friend who loves him. Anna seems to be making some breakthrough with Wyatt. However, I think his biggest test of sobriety is on the way. He gets a call from George about Jennifer Sallison. George tells Wyatt that Jennifer is dead. Wyatt knows his parents have the motive to kill her. Will he give his parents up?

Back at the police station, Veronica was able to get Hanna a visit with Benny. I swear Veronica never miss a chance at wearing her B card. Meaning her bitch card is always being played. She knows Hanna is Benny's  mother not his grandmother. Smh. While Hanna visits Benny, Katheryn and Mitch sit in the lobby waiting. Katheryn questions Mitch on about his friendship with Benny. She makes a statement about his last name being powerful. We all know Mitch use his last name for power when he needs too. Other than that, he is just Mitch. Now Mitch is sexy, Katheryn's eyes aren't blind. She starts flirting with Mitch. She tells him I can use a man like you. Lmao. Mitch asked, " How much are you paying?" This scene was too funny. Mitch got away from Katheryn so fast. Remember, he clowned Benny for sleeping with Veronica. Mitch, older ladies need love too. Lol!!! 

The hurt in Benny faces when he saw Hanna was powerful. That was a look of mama I am sorry for disappointing you. The love he has for Candace got him in this position. Hanna asked Benny again, "Did you kill Quincy?" Benny refuses to answer, but Veronica is sitting in on the visit. He can respond to the question, and the police can't use anything being said to his lawyer. Sadly, he can't say too much because Jeffrey is Veronica's son and his attorney. But he told Hanna who killed Quincy. Benny mentioned the Secret Service asking for his DNA. Veronica knows that isn't good. She gets up to handle that situation. Now Hanna and Benny can honest talk. Before Veronica leaves, she tells Benny to watch what he said. Once she is gone, Hanna asked Benny, "Did Jeffrey Harrington really kill Quincy?" Benny tells her, "yes but I can't say that in front of her." Veronica has a conflict of interest in this case. Regardless of her hate for her son sexuality, she will still protect him. Hanna blames everything on Candace. You can't deny that this whirlpool of events, lead right back to Candace. She has cost Benny so much already. But, why is Candace so messed up? Hanna played a role in that. What is her and Hanna beef with each other? I am lost on that issue. But Hanna is wrong on one thing, and Benny knows best; Candace doesn't know her son is dead. Regardless of the news coverage, she knows nothing. She doesn't have a phone, and when she did, she answers Benny's call. Hanna is very upset about the two men she loved most being affected by Candace's decisions. So much is happening at once. She asks God for relief and Benny telling her to calm down. So much heartache in Hanna's heart right now.

Veronica makes a phone call. She is trying to get information on the Secret Service agents. Right now, no one knows why they are involved. Once she enters the police lobby, Justin approaches her. Justin asked her to delete the recording she made. Veronica laughs at him. She is going to destroy Justin. Justin doesn't realize Veronica is a toxic, heartless and devious woman. She truly is about to expose him. Can Justin get out this predicament with his double life still being a secret?

Candace visits Erica. We soon find out what we thought was a friendship truly isn't a friendship. And am I the only one who think Candace and Erica had a sexual encounter at one point. How was Erica going by fixing her stress? Hmmmm. Candace vented out her troubles with Charles. She can't tell Erica too much, but Charles has Candace spooked. Candace is a new Path now, a high and powerful path. I don't think she ready for this lane. She tells Erica how Charles once her to let Benny take the fall for Quincy's murder. Sometimes it's best just to listen. Erica makes the fatal mistake of saying, "that's not a bad idea." Before you know it, Candace smacks the crap out of Erica. Girl, no way that should have happened. Candace uses to pimp Erica and made it clear she wasn't good at being a show. Lmao. Insult and a smack, hell no!!! Erica also made a mistake at leading Candace a dress with War's smell of cologne on it. When she questioned Erica, she didn't have any interaction with War. We know that's a lie. Did Candace believe her? If she didn't, she made it clear she will throw her out a window. Maybe Erica isn't time enough for Veronica as I thought. Hmmmmmm!!

Jennifer Sallison's body is about to be a problem. George arrives at the County Jail. He questions Katheryn about Jennifer being at her house. Car tracker and phone records place Jennifer's last whereabouts at the Cryer Mansion. Katheryn keeps her calm, but Veronica tells her not to say another word. Regardless of how much they hate each other at this point; if one goes down; they all go down. Veronica tells George, he knows better to be questioning her without a warrant. He makes it clear he will get one. Man, this episode had a lot of punch lines. George says to Veronica, "You sure representing a lot of people." Lmao!! Duh, isn't she a lawyer!!! Lol. Veronica tells Katheryn to meet her at her house in 15 mins. Katheryn doesn't trust Veronica, but at this point, she has no choice. They in this together whether they want to be or not.

Jeffrey visits Melissa in the hospital. Her mother walks in just as Jeffrey was trying to convince Melissa things will get better. He soon finds out, Melissa's mom is just as crazy as his mother. I understand why she says her father is the only person who loved her. How does her mother whore her daughter to a crazy woman for financial stability? What mother wants her daughter to have a baby by a gay man? Doris, Melissa's mom, basically tells her to grow up and get it together. She comes for Jeffrey by saying he likes hands jobs. Lmao. At times, you know Jeffrey is Veronica's son. He can become a queen when need to. He fires back with, " Gay or straight, and anybody can like a hand job." Lmao!!! He has a point. LMAO. Doris tells Jeffrey, Melissa will not be a problem anymore. She leaves. Melissa and Jeffrey agree that both of their mothers are crazy. At Melissa's request, Jeffrey leaves. I honestly feel the two need to become a best friend. They are stuck with each other at this point. They need to come together and find a way through this together.

Finally the bomb drops in Candace world. Charles was the speaker at a gun control event. At that event, he learns the little kid who was just murdered is Candace's son. Charles and Landon knock on the door. Candace isn't in the mood to deal with Charles. Charles tells her that her son is dead. For the first time, you see a side of Candace that has been lost throughout every season. We finally see her heart. I mean a fragile, tender and vulnerable piece of her heart. Even Landon felt a little empathy for her by the look on his face. As the tears flowed down Candace's face, she screamed for them to get out. At that moment for once, I felt sorry for Candace. At that moment for once, she knew she was the blame. Did you hear her say, "what did I do?" However, how much you want to bet she blame Hanna when she sees her. 

Now that the cops know Jennifer was last at the Cryer mansion, Veronica has her plan. Veronica is pouring gasoline all around the house. Katheryn arrives and asked her what she was doing. Veronica states, "no evidence." Veronica refuses to go down for killing a District Attorney. Honestly, you can't blame her for that. Katheryn truly got them in a jam this time. Jim made it worst by pissing off Mama Rose. Katheryn doesn't want to burn her house down but honestly that house only has bad memories of her. If love once existed, it faded long ago. Why not burn all those bad memories? Katheryn gave in. Burn baby burn. The Cryer mansion is now on fire.
