Not to be obvious, but Aglovale for the character meme. I like hearing your thoughts on him

First impression: "is this guy any good?" b/c I pulled his gacha unit before I got to Frost and Flames. I tweeted this sentiment and got a "he sucked but kinda improved" from one friend and "PERCIVAL'S SHITTY BROTHER" from Lio which was confusing to say the least

I also did his first fate ep so I was like. okay so I'm getting the vibes he fucked up but is trying to be better. love that. I can feel fine putting him on my water team

Impression now: he's everything ♡

okay but to be serious I think he is one of gbf's well-written characters in his progression, backstory, actions. I love that they have a very real portrayal of grief in him, the ways it eats at you when left unhealed, the affects the fear of everyone around you would have on the psyche and how he is still unlearning some of that. how atonement is a process that doesn't just end after one big gesture, how improvement both in statecraft and in personhood is sometimes difficult and imperfect. and in all that they also managed to make it so clear that he's a doting elder brother, and also ALSO that he's definitely got some parentification to him (I swear I'm not just projecting). even small details like how his pledges in light Percy fate are the elements that ultimately lead to Herzeloyde’s death, or even how his very very funny and cute gap moe about things says so much about how isolated he became growing up. they packed SO much into this fucking guy I go insane.

Favorite moment: VERY HARD OH MY GOD but man did he truly shine to In Each His Ideal. idc that we got cheaply thrown an excuse for Grand Percy in that one, that event belonged to Aglovale and Lamorak. and while there's SO much I could say in there alone, like the moment he willingly cuts through the visages of their parents because he accepts that death cannot just be undone, even though he almost unleashed hell to try it himself like a year prior,

it's actually after that, when he finds Lamorak.

I love the display of both sheer intelligence and the clear show of love and attention in how Aglovale put together, having never even seen Lusor before, that it was Lam. because he cares and he's always been looking after his little brothers and so he remembers. and when he corners wounded Lam as Lusor he's poised like he's ready for conflict, because he is. he is cold and commanding and ready and it all snaps in a SECOND the moment he realizes his brother is hurt.

it's the way he is at Lamorak's side in a second, all the indiscretions gone from his mind because it is happening again and it cannot, he's just found the last remaining member of his family again, so he cannot die here. and he won't! it's how for all his insistence on taking the harsh road, as always, the love shines through, because he's promising everything will be okay and they'll keep him safe in Wales and they can all be together again. it's all he fucking wants and I'm so emotional

Idea for a story: this is less an idea so much as a demand but cygames show us his typical bad disguise. yukata alt sorta showed us what his "undercover" times are like and they keep confirming the headcanons that I have in fact even put in one of my fics but I wanna know so bad he's such a DORK

Unpopular opinion: I don't think he's fucking Siegfried. No, I don't think he's fucking Tor, either. also idk if it's actually unpopular or not but Aglovale is a bisexual. I know my kind.

Favorite relationship: aglomora-

but if we're sticking to canon, it's obviously gotta be the bond with his brothers, no? complicated as siblings can be, but he's so clearly been firmly ride or die for them since youth. boy was ready to sacrifice himself at least twice for them. and basically did moreso by taking on the task of being heir, since they've p much said outright Gahmuret was very strict.

tho I also wanna mention real quick I ADORE the way Lyria hits him w/the -san it's like everyone else is constantly reverent, respectful, he's the KING and Lyria comes in like "hi mr. aglovale :3" she's so cute

GBF Dragon Knights Timeline (October 2019)

Fire Siegfried’s second fate episode finally gives us a bit more timeframe reference for us to work off. (Whether it makes sense... well, that’s a totally different issue.)

According to it, Siegfried joined the Royal Knights of Feendrache about 10 years ago, putting him at about 22 years old at the time. This gives us three general time periods to frame the Knights events and their lore in: 20 years ago, 10 years ago, and the present. I’ve added a marker for 5 years ago just to split the section for 10 years ago from the gigantic mess it would otherwise be.

I’ve attempted to put the events in chronological order, from most distant to most recent, incorporating what we know about Feendrache, Wales, and Dalmore. Some events’ place on the timeline are inferred or are my assumption; I’ve put as much of my reasoning for their positions as I can.

Completely Unknown

Kingdom near Feendrache becomes the Kingdom of Wales.

As per the Field Note about the House of Wales, they were originally a prominent family within the kingdom. At some point they became its rulers and named it after their house.

Josef takes the throne.

First War in Burgundy after Josef’s ascension.

Isabella becomes the royal consul and brings Sylph, marking Feendrache’s rise in fame and prosperity.

In SIEGFRIED, she is only mentioned once, during Percival and Lancelot’s ascension to co-deputies. This suggests that she only joined some while after Fafnir was slain, and perhaps after Gunther and Kriemhild moved to Burgundy. However, this is not verified.

High Priest Peter of the Zeyen faith (Sophia’s grandfather) becomes acquainted with Carl (and presumably Josef).

>500 Years Ago

Sylph was created by an Astral mourning the skyfarer he loved, who died to illness, and built her in the skyfarer’s likeness. Because she wasn’t a replacement for her, though, he abandoned Sylph on the land that would become Feendrache. (How far in the past this was and whether Sylph participated in the War are unknown. Given Sylph’s childlike mentality, we can assume she has a limiter on her and was created after the fallen angel rebellion.)

Before 20 Years Ago

36~39 years ago (from Present): Hagen is born.

Design notes in Graphic Archive III say he’s in his late 30s in the present.

32 years ago: Aglovale and Siegfried are born.

30+ years ago: Florence (Gawain’s sister) is born.

29 years ago: Gawain is born.

28~31 years ago: Lamorak is born.

27 years ago: Percival and Lancelot are born.

25 years ago: Vane is born.

Around 20 Years Ago

War near Wales drives refugees into its borders, causing the country to destabilize over tensions with refugees. (Unknown if this is the same as the First War in Burgundy.)

Herzeloyde is killed when her carriage is attacked by refugees-turned-bandits. Aglovale, Lamorak, and Percival are witnesses to her death.

Ghamuret begins (or continues?) research into forbidden magic and Otherworldly Beings after Herzeloyde’s death.

Field note for Forbidden Magic indicates that the House of Wales has been researching Otherworldly Magic for several generations, building off research conducted throughout the island for a time.

19 years ago: Sophia is born. (She has little direct relation to the island but she showed up in DO. Good enough for me.)

Hagen, Gunther, and Kriemhild come into service of King Josef. (Unknown points in time, but some time before they meet Siegfried).

13 years ago: Arthur and Mordred are born. (Presumably this means Cruz, Henry, and Tornelio were also born that year.)

11~13 years ago: War breaks out on the island, orphaning Arthur and Mordred. (Another possible point for the First War in Burgundy, since Art/Mord’s orphanage is around there.)

Around 10 Years Ago

Siegfried saves Josef and his entourage from monsters, and is recruited into the Royal Knights.

The Fafnir suppression force successfully defeats Fafnir and seals it away, despite Hagen’s sabotage attempt.

Hagen is exiled from Feendrache, the Royal Knights are reformed into the Order of the Black Dragons, and Siegfried takes Gunther’s place as Captain. Siegfried helps Gunther and Kriemhild hook up, completely oblivious to her crush on him.

Gunther and Kriemhild marry and decide to retire to Burgundy territory after Kriemhild conceives a child.

Gawain rises as the hero of Dalmore, convincing Wales to create a peace treaty out of fear of his power. However, he grows cruel and self-absorbed, and is eventually banished from Dalmore after being cursed by Florence.

Around 5 Years Ago

Note: There is no strict timeline given between Gunther’s departure and the Second War in Burgundy. A lot of this is just assumption since we’re given the impression that quite a bit of time has passed.

Lancelot and Percival join the Black Dragon Knights, under Siegfried’s direct instruction. Vane also joins at an unknown point between then and the Second War in Burgundy.

5 years ago: Flashback in Souken no Kizuna manga where Siegfried defends Lancelot and Vane from some meddling senators occurs. No idea where it is in relation to the Second War.

Second War in Burgundy breaks out on the same day Lancelot and Percival are appointed as co-vice-captains. A rebel faction tries to split from Feendrache because they don’t recognize Josef as the successor.

The rebellion is suppressed, but Kriemhild and her son, Licht, are slain.

Ghamuret dies, leaving Aglovale to inherit the Kingdom of Wales. Percival returns to Wales for the funeral. It is the last time the two brothers will meet before the events of “Between Frost and Flame”. (Lamorak left at an unknown point, but it seems he became famous after departing from Wales.)

Josef and Siegfried are informed of a mysterious illness spreading in a rural village, and Siegfried is sent to investigate. He discovers that Sylph’s production of alma creates a toxic substance called karmide.

Any move to halt the production of alma is cut short when Isabella assassinates Josef and frames Siegfried, forcing him to flee the capital a criminal.

King Carl takes the throne, the Black Dragons are reorganized as the Order of the White Dragons with Lancelot as captain. Percival and the dragon researcher-doctor in service to Josef leave the island.

Present

1 year and 2 months ago: Royal Doctor Boris is assassinated by Isabella for working with Siegfried to expose her. Siegfried manages to save his research into karmide.

Event: Defender’s Oath occurs.

The crew meets Percival during their travels and, after learning his relation to Feendrache, convince him to pay a visit.

Event: Four Knights of a Fallen Land occurs.

Lancelot’s FLB is released.

Siegfried’s FLB is released.

Gawain’s FLB is released.

Event: Between Frost and Flame occurs.

Percival’s FLB is released.

Event: Divergent Knighthoods occurs.

Event: SIEGFRIED occurs. (We don’t talk about Bistro Feendrache around here.)

I can't blame the lady for looking at the Wales family and wishing for the same thing tbh

no but for real.

Like before Herzeloyde's death they were pretty much a perfect family. Ghamuret could be a tough father who was especially demanding of his heir, but Herzeloyde was always there to remind him to take it easy, and he would immediately get caught up in her ways and do things her way, warm and kind.

Meanwhile all three kids were sweet kids. They all took a lot after their mother, genuinely wanting to keep people safe, all while being safe and soft. The brothers loved each other very much and were protective of one another. And when they helped with refugee relief, the kids were always doing their best and were cheerful doing it.

It's the type of family that makes you believe in family units. Like, everything just worked out, all of them were happy, all of them felt loved.

then Herzeloyde died and everything became Bad :( none of them managed their grief, and anything Herzeloyde would have been tempering before just was let loose on top of the grief making things worse.

It's wild to see how this family collapsed after the matriarch's death but good lord. Yeah. Meeting them before Herzeloyde's death would have given anyone the desire to have this same family, this same love.

Can't blame Aleis at all honestly.

and personally for the D/M criteria i'm looking for either a character who's good with kids or old enough to fit the bill, and a combo of the two of them would work. However canon moms/dads on the younger side definitely counts.

on the DILF side, i def understand Siegfried, Urians, and Uther being on the list. I'd say Nehan and Nicholas got robbed. Honestly Nicholas was one of my early crush in the game and it's only because he's in a loving relationship that i have not involved myself more with him as a concept. Also he's such a nerd. And now he's a father so like. I'm not going to bother him but i respect him a lot.
