Chuck's Backpack Hero Mods
So, I've obviously been hyper-fixating on Dungeon Meshi lately, but that isn't all I do. For the past year, I've been making mods for my current favorite game: Backpack Hero!
My collection of mods! Look here if you want to check out any of these mods for yourself!
So in this post, I thought it would be fun to go over all my mods, and share some of my favorite details.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Bionicle Mod: contains 245 items
Naturally, my first mod was a Bionicle mod. I love Bionicle. While I did a lot of custom spritework for this mod, shout out to Danska's Bionicle Builder, which is what I used for the masks and set-accurate weapons.
The mod's main gimmick is loot boxes! You can find mask packs, and equipment packs which can be opened for random items from the corresponding set wave. If you're real lucky, you may even find a bulk parts pack, which contains random equipment packs!
Nearly every set is represented, and a wide assortment of items from MNOG and VNOG are included too. As my first pack, the balancing was pretty spotty at first, but a few updates have fixed the more egregious examples. Did you know it took me 6 months to realize that the nektann robots had accidentally been set to unfindable?
Tumblr media
Chuck's Plants vs Zombies Mod: contains 654 items??? (probably cut that down to like, ~350ish, since packets don't really count as a separate item)
My second mod, and hoo boy is it a doozy. Probably my favorite mod, this mod has a ton of work put into it, containing every plant from the orginal game, PvZ 2, and chinese PvZ 2. Thats a lot of plants!
The main gimmick of this mod is plant packets. Instead of finding plants as loot, you get packets, which grow over time. Once enough encounters occur with it in your pack, it grows into the plant.
But plants aren't the only thing in this pack. There is also a suite of zombie equipment, which grows stronger based on how many plants you have. Not to mention watering cans, pinatas, guppies, and other essentials to help fuel your botanical battle pack!
Tumblr media
Chuck's Bloons Mod: Contains 134 items (again, effective number is a lot lower due to upgrades)
Ah yes, my bloons mod. This is probably my least favorite mod, simple because of how jank it is.
Basically, monkey's grow more powerful based on how many bloons they pop. As they reach thresholds, they get upgraded. However, spriting and programming so many upgrades gets rather tedious. This, combined with the fact that playing with the mod is rather feast or famine makes me not particularly fond.
Getting enough bloons can be tricky if you don't find one of the generators, and some monkeys are just way more useful than others, since due to the effort required, fully upgraded monkeys are mostly an endless mode thing, and some of them just don't scale into endless very well.
That being said, most of the monkeys are at least okay at a base level, so in casual play, they are decent, if not exciting.
Also, the monkey loot packs being barrels makes me giggle.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Random Items Mod: contains 10 items
A simple little pack containing a few endless focused items. Originally meant for random ideas, but the next mod ended up taking that role.
Some neat examples include the white manastone, which acts as fuel for the vanilla black manastone, the sticky token, which acts as both energy and duct tape, at the cost of gimping defense, and the Fatum Ruptor, my signature sword.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Pack of Mediocre Items: contains 109 items
This is a fun one. Basically, when modding, one tends to make things stronger than vanilla. So I challenged myself to make a pack with intentionally weak, but useful items. That doesn't mean it's bad, just lacks a lot of the raw power my other mods have.
As such, it is my recommendation for if you want a more vanilla style pack. Some of these items are literally just vanilla items with a twist. Such as the glove of knife. Just the one. Glove of knives was OP anyway.
Plenty of cheeky little references in here too. Like the candy cane horns which fill you with rage, or the pristine blade which fractures into one of ten different variants.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Terraria Mod: contains 111 items
Ah yes, my favorite Minecraft clone. This pack has a little of everything. You got arrows, spears, tomes of ichor based magic, what's not to love?
If you're really lucky, you might find a crate containing items from my second and third favorite mods, Thorium and Calamity. (Sorry guys, you aren't even close to beating Magic Storage in the top spot.)
This pack also has few item type gimmicks I think are cool. Spears can only be used once per turn, but they have strong AOE attacks. Bullets are arrows that can also be used only once per turn. And then there is the copper shortsword. If you swing it 999 times, something cool might happen.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Stick Ranger Mod: 174 items
Anyone else remember this game? Man, Stick Ranger was awesome. Pity they never made a sequel. Anyway, this pack contains a wide assortment of items, including 16 weapons from each class, except angel and gunner. Gunner only gets 8. Angel gets... 34???
Yeah, I like rings. I gave them a cool mechanic where they buff other adjacent rings, like a variant of Satchel's hammers. So of course I included a ton of them.
Also, the imperial crown used to hold the record for the laggiest item I ever made, but engine optimizations has made it actually viable to use. Hooray! Much like the game it comes from, the crown massively boosts the threat enemies pose, but greatly rewards you for it.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Neo-Battledome Mod: contains 130 items
To be perfectly honest, I never got past the level of duel-wielding scarab rings before I got banned due to my account getting hacked. Hasn't stopped me from obsessively keeping up with battledome weapon releases, even if they're currently releasing, like, three a year.
That's right, did you ever play Neopets and wished you could wield the Darigan Sword of Death? Or really wanted to own a Weird Scarab, even though it was an impossible to find yet completely ineffectual item? Well, now you can do the next best thing!
Tumblr media
Chuck's Elder Scrolls Mod: contains 59 items
Ah, Skyrim. My first M rated game. Which I bought without my parents' permission. Honestly, get rid of those terrible blood splatters, and the strangely mild swearing, and it would pass for T. (Seriously, how do Skyrim and Stick of Truth have the same rating???)
Anyway, this mod contains items from not just skyrim, but oblivion and morrowind too. And maybe even an item or two from arena and daggerfall if you're nice.
If you collect 24 Stones of Barenziah, absolutely nothing happens. Just like in Skyrim.
Tumblr media
Chuck's MSPA Mod: contains 49 items
Ah yes. Homestuck. I'd say it's pretty good. Shame it ended at act 7. Anyway, here's some items to shove in your sylladex backpack. Lots of Problem Sleuth items too. Those are probably a bit less polarizing.
Probably best to swiftly move along.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Enchanting Crystals Mod: contains 18 items
A small, but simple pack. These crystals can be used to add permanent buffs to your items. The more powerful ones contain downsides though, so be careful.
Tumblr media
Chuck's RPG Classes Mod: contains 68 items (Only 9 of which are actually findable, lol)
One of my most popular mods, this adds essences which boost various play-styles. They start off weak, but as you kill enemies, they level up! When leveling up, they branch into two options, with six of the base essences each having four different final forms.
Let me give you a hint. If you're using this, or any of my mods with upgrading items, I won't get mad if you use debug mode to check what items will do when they grow up.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Card Slinger Mod: contains 88 items
Ask any Backpack Hero player who the worst playable character is, and we'll all agree. It's Tote. So here's a mod to try and make her more fun. Excuse the use of the thumbnail instead of a pack of items. Carvings are a pain to screenshot.
This mod contains carvings for Tote based on a variety of card games, like Hearthstone, Eternal, MtG, Inscryption, and more! Seriously, some of these are obscure as heck. Like the ones from my own card game that I have never shown off publicly.
Generally fitting into a discard-light setup, the minion cards attack each turn, but get discarded if you get attacked too many times. There are also self-discarding spells, and cards which buff your other cards.
Crown of Possibilities is my favorite TCG card of all time, and you can't change my mind.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Mod of Loathing: contains 36 items
Couldn't really get into Kingdom of Loathing, but dang if West of Loathing and Shadows over Loathing aren't amazing games.
Anyway, items in this pack are neat, but I may have created the worst item ever in the Spittoon. It hurts you when used, but gives treasure! Most of the treasure is awful. There is only one good item in its pool. And it's a damn good one. So there I go. Reaching into every spittoon I find, taking ten damage for no reason, hoping to get lucky. If that doesn't capture the essence of the spittoon, I don't know what will.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Backpack Battles Mod: contains 47 items
Ah yes, my third favorite backpack based game.
Some pretty neat mechanics in this mod. The versitile dagger and thirsting blade both have a mechanic where after using them for a while, they upgrade into a random crafted version. The gems also upgrade over time.
I also added some dragon eggs. I thought they were really swell. How swell? Well...
Tumblr media
Chuck's Dragon Eggs Mod: contains 641 items!!! (Like the PvZ mod, cut that roughly in half.)
Originally based on Dragon Cave, I had to take it down and rework it with my own original sprite art. I'd say it turned out pretty good.
This mod contains eggs which hatch after a while into dragons. It is mainly focused on Pouchette, who can find the full selection, but the others can find a more limited selection too. (Except Tote. Tote never gets to have fun. Except when she finds a Darigan Sword of Death.)
I had a lot of fun figuring out the flavor for this mod. There are a ton of different dragon types, each with it's own type of effect. Tarasques are defensive, drakes have power in numbers, bug dragons are totally a real thing, and weren't the result of running out of unique body plans...
Tumblr media
Chuck's Randomly Generated Mod: contains 38 items
Exactly what it says on the tin. I set up a random table, rolled two effects, a trigger, and a character, then made an item inspired by the results.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Hyperrealistic Mod: contains 15 items
Gonna be honest, this one's a shitpost.
Tumblr media
Chuck's Undertale Mod: contains 92 items
This was a fun pack to work on. I love Undertale and Deltarune, so I certainly wasn't lacking inspiration. Most of the equipment and consumables are in there, along with plenty of memes. I got you're stopsigns, a punchcard that provides massive value if you know how to exploit it, maybe even a Prunsel if you're good.
My favorite item has to be the cell phone. Each battle, you receive a random call, providing a small benefit. You might get Undyne slapping spaghetti against the receiver, you might get Papyrus complaining about spike regulations, you might get [half price baloney], you never know!
Tumblr media
Chuck's Dredmor Mod: contains 36 items
Ever played Dungeons of Dredmor? It's very silly. And hard. I've never won a run.
Anyway, here's some random items from that game cause I felt like it. What more do you want?
Tumblr media
Chuck's Dungeon Dice Mod: contains 52 items (more like 7 lol)
Contains items which randomize their effects at the start of each battle. Pretty cool.
Tumblr media
Anyway, those are my mods. Enjoy a screenshot of the nonsense you can get up to with all my mods active.
Hope you enjoyed reading, and maybe enjoy playing with them!
Stay tuned for my next mod, based on Chips Challenge! This may or may not be a joke.

What book have you read or game have you played that stayed with you longer than you thought it would?
alright so there's like two kinds of answers to this
there's the really good stuff that sticks with you, like okami. i did not think i would still love okami like i do after almost two decades! i played that shit on ps2 back in '06! dog game good. dog game weirdly long but dog game good
Tumblr media
but then there's the real shit, the shit you keep thinking about years later when no one else is. many people love okami. who loves battleborn?
Tumblr media
fuckin... Battleborn. A first-person shooter MOBA experience that was unfortunately followed 3 weeks later by one of the biggest games of the year, and direct competitor, Overwatch. Between the similar hero-oriented gameplay and the $40 price tag, Battleborn could not favorably compare in the eyes of the masses. Within a year, the player base had gone from 12,000 to 1,000, to only a few hundred. Not even a move to free-to-play did much to help it. After a move from Gearbox to put it in 'maintenance mode' 16 months after release, Battleborn would see its last online play in January 31, 2021 as the servers were shut down.
But. The legacy of Battleborn can be felt elsewhere, in what was Gearbox's long-awaited and somewhat disappointing release, Borderlands 3. Game development cycles are tricky things, so its not the easiest thing to pinpoint when Battleborn was being developed, but with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel being released in October 2014, one could estimate that more hands were being put on Battleborn after that was finished. So, with (an estimated) two years of dedicated development, we see our final product get demolished the same year it comes out. Disheartening. Well, Gearbox has other things it can work on, right? You've got a big IP in your back pocket, it just needs a good 3rd mainline installment!
Tumblr media
Borderlands 3 would be released 7 years after its mainline predecessor BL2, which for reference was 3 years after BL1 (so thats BL1 - 2009, BL2 - 2012, BL:TPS - 2014, and BL3 - 2019). This game has had a doozy of a cook time, so surely our final dish is superb, right? Well... its a bit mixed, yeah? The writing of the game doesn't really hit the same highs as BL2, gameplay has new mechanics sliding and more action skills, but less overall polish on the details. It's not bad, it just doesn't live up to the 7 year wait. Maybe it never could.
Wait, what does this have to do with Battleborn? Well, what if, and hear me out, what if BL3 came out 2 years earlier? If Battleborn was not given out theoretical 2 years of dedicated dev time, it could have meant that BL3 would have had an earlier release, in which its writing was a little more topical, for an audience that would be possibly more receptive to how the story was told (ehh, maybe not). But more importantly, a 2 year earlier release would have meant it would release within one week of Destiny 2, a game in the looter-shooter genre that was inspired by BL2. From there, its a huge toss up for how the two would have interacted with their player bases and retained regular players, but damn do i think about it

Thinking about The Boys and how my muses would exactly fit there. Maybe it's because I love that world, but I think the majority of my guys would fit in with ease.
Roy — honestly can see him as both a normal human and a supe, and in either case he would be a good guy and not aligned with Vought's mission.
Cole — would be more of a chaotic entity. Doesn't have much at stake nor is he some speech giving hero, but with his abilities and his training, he'd kinda vibe with the Butcher, Hughie, and gang. Though Cole is more skilled than any of them, and their fuckups might hinder his ability to take down Vought.
Daken — would be an incredible supe asset for Vought... except he is very unhinged and hard to control. He's a rabid dog who would do all the dirty work but would not care if it blows back on Vought.
Piers — a normal would who would want to fight against the abuse of power by Vought supes. First he would go about it through with pacifist intentions, but after witnessing some horrid shit, he would go into lethal mode. However he would not outright kill every supe or even every Vought aligned supe, only those he has proof have willing killed others.
Horangi — i gotta make him into a supe, and with his callsign you know it's gonna be tiger related. He's definitely not flashy about it though and even keeps his powers on the down low. Don't know if he would get involved with the Vought bullshit unless he was dragged into it.
Lambert — would be a doozy. Definitely a supe, and a really fucking jaded one. He's out for himself, frankly.
Sukuna — he's fucking giga powerful in canon, so I don't know how he would fit in the world without usurping Homelander. Maybe he was created during the Soldier Boy era but kept under sleep/confinement on a need to know basis for Vought. He's probably the fucker they'd bring out to really devastate the playing field, and the fucker they'd use to bring Homelander down, but it's a last resort.

“O-Oh, yes. You’re right.” She played with her hair, “Let’s start with something that can survive the two known quirks & their combination & go from there.” This was gonna be a doozy.
She tapped her lip, “Maybe gyaru (gal) style then. Or mori kei (forest style.) Onii-kei (stylish boys) would look cute, too. Hmm. Do you have a good picture of her you can show me?”
“If that is your hero outfit, it does fit you well. Fashionable yet functional. Sir Nighteye is an example I can pull from for a similar aesthetic. He wants to blend into the crowd as a salaryman & not stick out as a hero. It’s easier for quiet take downs for sure. Which company made your outfit? I don’t recognize its make.” Wasn’t made by The Mode Company.

TXT: You'll get your answer soon enough if you just turn around.
Of course, Elizabeth Blackwell herself was rather comfortably tapping away at a smartphone like it was perfectly normal for her to be there.
"And yes, I was referring to Diana Fleet. I'd do it myself, but that girl does have her pride and my personal style might be a bit too practical for her." She would continue, her voice being this smooth, silky tone that belied her more dangerous nature and gave her an elegant lady-like vibe.
To be fair, Lady Blackwell was an odd one, even when not accounting for her quirk as she was taking both the hero course and the support course at the same time.
On the other hand, considering what was known about the Lancaster Group and the shoes she's expected to fill someday when she's older, it probably does make more sense.

First and foremost, we have some exciting new changes that everyone can get behind. Absolutely nobody has a problem with the new experience globe mechanics. New experience globes are only at full value for six seconds, and after that are worth 25% exp. And then they last for thirty-nine seconds. Nobody finds this objectionable in any way. This change was not on the PTR due to public outcry from Reddit when it was leaked early, but it’s here live with all of its zero problems fixed.
Another change about which we have received zero complaints is a new tag system behind the scenes. People looking for just the right hero for the situation can easily find it by searching for such keywords as “CC” “Silence” “Sustain” and “Double soak” and find extremely useful and not absolute garbage results. Don’t worry about checking it ahead of time, just get right into draft mode and use it to find the perfect pick!
In addition to those minor and unobjectionable changes, we have removed Volskaya Foundry from the ranked queue, and added everyone’s favorite quickmatch map, Warhead Junction. We have also done this simultaneously with an Overwatch-themed event.
Hero changes below the cut, because this patch is another doozy, with fiiiiiive herooooo rewoooooorks, Four buffed assassins, three nerfed offlaners, two nerfed tanks and we also nerfed the looost viiiikiiiings!
Anduin is the first of our reworks and with him taking a more prominent role in Shadowlands we want to be able to welcome WoW players with open arms. He, uh, doesn’t have a new skin or anything, we just want people to play this game. The central goal of the buff is to improve his healing output in line with other heroes without removing the largest strength in Leap of Faith. As such, we’re just touching literally every part of his kit and talent try and praying that it goes the way we want.
People keep mistaking Johanna for the best tank in the game. This is factually untrue, since Muradin exists. As such, we are just gutting the absolute pants off of Johanna’s talent tree and making it weird and clunky.
For too long has Raynor been the scourge of draft play. Too good to skip, but not scary enough to ban. Perfect macro contributions, with respectable hero damage. Enough self-sustain to take weight off your healer, and self-peel for when tanks are bad. The perfect killing machine. As such, we’ve nerfed his damage into the ground. Start playing Greymane, bitches.
Stitches has proven to be a mediocre bruiser in the eyes of the community. After all these years, I think I know why. We accidentally categorized him as a tank. As such, he needs some serious changes to make him fit that label. This whole time we’ve been balancing him as a bruiser and nobody said anything? This is as much your fault as it is mine.
The average damage output of a ranged assassin has been steadily climbing for a while now. As a result, for a hero to actually be a glass cannon, they need some serious firepower. Valla now has the gunpowder to match her glass. And she’s the glassiest cannon there is. Don’t get me wrong, she still evaporates like a drop of water in California when an enemy hero looks at her. But when she has a solid tank and three healers behind her, the world is your oyster.
Oh my god they didn’t break down the heroes by category. Jesus Christ what the fuck Blizzard? You just decided that this is the line? This is the day you stop caring? Well, congratulations, you’ve made reading your patch notes mildly more inconvenient. I’m still doing this. Ya bunch of jack-offs.
Mei has been grossly overperforming, and we have no idea how that happened. We certainly didn’t buff her over and over again for an entire year. Anyway, we’re just going to roll some stuff back. Definitely probably fine.
It turns out - and bear with me here because this might be hard to follow - Hogger, D.va, and Sonya were all overtuned? For six months? So we’re just gonna tippy tappy them down the smallest little bit. And then slap them around a little for good measure. D.va’s mech form is no longer indomitable, Hogger can no longer solo any merc camp in the game in 12 seconds, and Sonya is now... Basically fine still, honestly. We kinda gave her just a slap on the wrist in comparison. But honestly after gutting Hogger like that, I just didn’t have the heart. One of the benefits from being a little later, alphabetically.
After riding the TLV train up through the ranks, I think it’s about time to recognize that I’m not actually good at them. They’re just overtuned. So it’s time to come back to earth, Icarus. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly-small HP nerf, though. The real nerf is buffing Longboat Raid. People are going to have to pick it to test it and it’s gonna murder their winrate.
Someone told me that Lucio is a problem and needed to be addressed this patch, but my cat came into the home office being adorable so I didn’t hear exactly what they said. So we had to kinda wing it. Hopefully these minor adjustments to his talent tree will solve whatever they were talking about!
Even we know Uther is a problem. Being first pickable and filling three different unique roles was what we wanted to do with Varian not Uther. So we’re going to try and make him incrementally worse at tanking until he just goes away. First up: Shaving off some of that personal armor.
AFK splitpush trash Azmodan is dead. Long live teamfight artillery mage Azmodan. Really glad I made the last HotS Content post about Nova instead of Azmodan because boy howdy do these changes invalidate the entire playstyle that post would have discussed.
W build Falstad has obviously become a problem. Not only was he riddled with bugs after the rework - don’t worry, we learned from our mistakes and made sure there were no bugs with our new reworks - but also he had the ability to point and click on an enemy hero and force them to run all the way to the next lane over in order to stop taking buckets of free damage. It turns out that ability was more powerful than anticipated, and required adjustment.
Q build Falstad has obviously become a problem. Not only was it completely overshadowed by a build that did more damage in every situation with less skill requirement, but we overestimated the value of macro power on a build that demands PvP for stacking. As such, we’ve doubled the amount of power each stack gives him! That’ll do.
AA build Falstad... Stay the course, buddy. Doin’ fine.
Junkrat has been underperforming, which is surprising for a hero with his level of power. As such, we’re going to make a few small buffs to hopefully draw attention, and then we can roll things back once the pickrate reflects his actual power. Hopefully then WE CAN FINALLY MAKE THE MANDATORY CHANGE I PUT IN EVERY MEMO. TYRE. WITH A Y. THAT’S HOW THEY SPELL IT IN AUSTRALIA. KAEO I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU- wait, did Kaeo leave? Who the fuck is still here? Kinnabrew? Adam? Jason? JASON! JASON!?
Tassadar has also fallen off a lot without us having done anything at all whatsoever to nerf him. Entirely undeserved treatment. I’m disappointed in all of you. As such, we’re going to tweak his numbers up just a little tippy tap so that you all remember who killed the Overmind. It wasn’t James Raynor or Sarah Kerrigan. It was Tassadar... Tassadar Bassadar. That’s his last name. Don’t look it up, just trust me.
In the bug fix department, we’ve had a nice sit-down with the Mountain Giants on Alterac and told them that if they have time to lean, they have time to clean. Reaching the end of their lane and expecting the core to come to them is putting undue stress on an already overtaxed position. The core is a very stressful job, and if the mountain giants could just do their part to walk into the core pit when they arrive, that’s a huge load off their shoulders. Drek’thar and Vanndar really needed this expectation taken off them right now, and I’m hopeful it will lead to a better work environment.

Let’s Hang Out Sometime
Fandom: Ratchet and Clank
Rating: T
Warnings: Non-consensual touching
Summary: #1 in a series of whumptober prompts. Ratchet and Clank get an unexpected (and unwelcome) visitor to their apartment. Takes place pre-Tools of Destruction.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Breaking into the apartment was practically child’s play. For intergalactic heroes, Ratchet and Clank sure didn’t seem to care about the security of their own home.
She hummed as she stepped past the living room and into the bedroom, where her target was curled up and snoring like a giant kitty. It took all her willpower not to squeal in delight at the sight of it. Even the light steps of her feet on the carpet were enough to make the tips of his ears twitch, and she didn’t want to wake him up before she got to the fun part.
Clank was in sleep mode on the nightstand beside him, but she wasn’t worried. As quietly as possible, she pulled out the two most important objects in this entire plan. One was a portable EMP. The other was a canister of lombax snooze gas.
Creeping up to the bed was agonizingly slow. The payoff, however, of simultaneously cracking open the canister against Ratchet’s cheek and pressing the EMP against Clank’s body more than made up for it. The robot short-circuited almost instantly, falling on his back with a loud clang. Ratchet woke up and started flailing, ready to fight, but he’d already inhaled so much gas that it was too late. He passed out without even getting a glimpse of his attacker.
Just the way she wanted it.
................................................................................................................................
When Ratchet woke up again, he was dazed and on defense. He didn’t know exactly what hit him but he knew he was still in danger. It was pitch black when he blinked, and the lombax realized he’d been blindfolded. He was lying down on something. Trying to move his limbs was futile as well – his wrists were restrained together above his head and his feet were tied much the same way, legs stretched out almost to hyperextension. The material under him was soft and familiar. He was still in his own bed.
Movement to his right. The friction of footsteps on carpet and quiet breathing. Ratchet’s ears stood straight to attention, vigilant and nervous.
“Who’s there?”
He was a little surprised he hadn’t been gagged. The ears being left alone made sense, since most people couldn’t tell how much of it he used for hearing in the first place, but why let him keep his voice?
The answer came swiftly and not in any way he was expecting.
“Aww, I’ve never heard you sound like that!” A little giggle. “Usually you’re always so confident and fearless.”
Ratchet didn’t recognize the voice. It wasn’t altered in any way as far as he could tell, but no names, faces, or even species came to mind.
“Who are you? What do you want?”
“I just wanted to spend some time with you!”
He gritted his teeth, confused and angry. “You haven’t answered my first question.”
More rustling as his captor moved closer. Two cold, furless hands cupped his face. He recoiled but they stayed put, and he had to resist the urge to bite them.
“I’m your biggest fan, Ratchet!”
The lombax was taken aback. He knew Qwark had followers like this, and Clank certainly had to dodge a few fanatics at Secret Agent Clank screenings once or twice. But for him to have – wait, Clank!
“Where’s Clank?!”
“He’s okay. I just put him to sleep for a little bit so he doesn’t bother us. I know how much you care about him.”
Ratchet growled. If Clank was hurt in any way then this ‘fan’ was going to regret ever laying eyes on him.
“Oh, but enough about him. I came here for you, after all.”
The hands left his cheeks, then started petting his ears. He gasped and thrashed his head to no avail.
“Stop touching me!”
“Why would I do that? You’re so soft and fluffy and adorable. I bet I’m the first fan to ever touch your ears!”
He wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction of knowing how true that statement was. Ratchet had always had issues with being touched. Most of it came from growing up in a fairly hostile desert environment all by himself, where any physical contact was usually from a predator. Clank was still the only person he could let that close without being on guard.
“If you wanted something soft so badly, just get a protopet. I’m not a toy.”
“You silly, I already have toys of you. They’re not nearly as soft.” One hand found the base of his ear and started massaging. The other hand strayed down to his bare chest.
A chill ran up Ratchet’s spine. “Stop touching me.”
He’d gone to bed wearing only his mechanic pants without the harness. He was still wearing them now, thank god, but up till this point he had been thinking of potential physical violence by his captor. Whatever this was, he wanted it to stop immediately.
They ignored his demand, continuing to play with his ear and chest fur.
“Stop touching me,” he repeated, getting stressed. His tail puffed against his will, and though he couldn’t see where his captor was looking, he still tensed up as their hands stopped petting and they made a quiet ‘aww’.
“Don’t. Don’t!” Ratchet pleaded now as he felt them start to lean over him, towards his bristling tail.
There was another sound suddenly, a familiar sound of processors booting up and mechanical gears shifting. His captor drew off of him and backed away with a few curses. His ears caught every moment of them rushing out of the room and out of the apartment completely, which was about where the extent of his hearing tapered off.
“Ratchet? What is going on?” Clank’s bemused voice was like a tidal wave of relief.
“Clank! Get me outta this quick!”
The robot hopped onto the bed immediately and undid the lombax’s blindfold. Ratchet had never been so happy to see those giant green eyes.
“What happened?” He asked as he moved onto the ropes around his friend’s wrists.
“Some stalker came into our place, and if we hurry we might still catch them. Are you okay?”
“I am fine, I am simply disoriented. I feel as though I should be asking you that question instead.”
“Yeah, uh, I’m fine too.” He pursed his lips as Clank glanced very briefly at his agitated tail. “I’m fine! Just…spooked. Remind me to add some home security after this.”
“That would be very much appreciated. I do not wish to be in such a vulnerable position again.”
Phantom fingers still traced his fur. Ratchet shuddered.
“You and me both, pal.”

A/N: The plan (hope) is to complete all 31 days of this challenge. I fell hard and fast back into R&C thanks to the new Rift Apart game coming out, and I have no idea how or when I’ll crawl myself out of it.
Ratings, warnings, and length of each prompt is subject to change. Please heed them, some of these are gonna be real doozies. Course, what else can you really expect from me lol.

15.06. A great wrong has been righted. Hope is allowed in this narrative. I hope Chuck is brooding in his brooding dark castle somewhere, gnashing his teeth and cursing the heroes like a proper villain.
The Dean and Cas breakup and Rowena’s death are in the “Then” so I knew this was going to be a doozy.
Excuse me, random witch I don’t know STOP TOUCHING QUEEN ROWENA’S THINGS THIS INSTANT STOP THAT.
Back in the bunker, Sam is not looking good. Tired, a bit damp-eyed haggard, and randomly cruising weird lore and stuff on the internet, like he’s throwing spaghetti at the wall, any lead, any hunt, just something, that will help them or keep him from feeling helpless. Jared was so great in this ep, showing Sam’s anxiety about Chuck, his ongoing sadness about Rowena, but also hope and joy because of Eileen, and my heart just aches.
Dean’s still stress eating, shoving dry cereal in his mouth and pretending to be cheery and marathoning Scooby Doo (comfort watching). He turns down going with Sam on the milk run and is hanging around in his bathrobe. This is a lot like Dean in S14 after being possessed by AU Michael. Anyone still think Dean has been perfectly okay since 15.03? LOLOLOL. Nor is this just because of finding out Chuck is still out there. Dean’s been stress eating and day drinking and trying to hide behind food pranking before they found out Chuck was back. He’s still reeling and avoiding his Cas feelings, which were complicated by the nihilism Dean feels because of Chuck, and now on top of that, they know that Chuck isn’t actually gone.
While Cas’s coping mechanism is to go fishing, something he says he learned from a friend is a way to find some peace. So Cas is getting away from his feelings by emulating the person causing the feelings he’s trying to avoid right now. Also note, in S11 Cas dealt with trauma by turtling in his room marathoning tv shows, which is also a Dean method of coping with trauma. We get to see Cas standing on his own, an autonomous and competent hunter, and that’s important, but Dean’s impact on Cas, his link with him, their similarities, doesn’t go away.
I really like we get to see Sam jogging. It’s one of those things, like sparring, we’re told happens and don’t get to see. Cas goes fishing, Dean hides out in his bathrobe eating sugary cereal watching Scooby Doo, Sam goes jogging. Everyone’s got their way of coping.
EILEEN!!! EILEEN IS A GHOST IT IS GHOST EILEEN HI EILEEN HI HI!!!!
So she’s been trying to get them to see her and Sam finally does. Little bit of a parallel back to S8 and Dean haunted by seeing Cas everywhere and Cas turns out to be real.
So Eileen needs help getting her soul into Heaven. I’m disappointed she actually really was killed instead of my theories because the way she was killed irritated me so much but I’m really happy that despite that actual narrative mistake where spn mis-stepped, her story isn’t over, this hole in my heart is healing wow thanks spn.
Dean seems weirdly okay with the idea of Sam as heir to Rowena’s magical lore and I honestly expected him to be more resistant but a lot has happened, characters grow, Dean cared about and trusted Rowena. So that’s interesting. He’s for it.
Sam’s sad face is just getting to me all over this episode.
“I need to find my son.” Cas’s sad sad face listening to this distraught parent. Of course he’s going to help her find her son. Of course he is. Of course his fishing trip is over. A hunt found him and of course he can’t turn his back on a parent who wants to save her child. What we see in this ep is Cas enacting what Sam and Dean have been saying about why they do what they do, even if things are miserable and it seems hopeless, but if they help others, that makes things better for the world.
Sam empathizing with Eileen about having been in Hell. Oh, my poor babies.
All right, Columbo, I mean “Agent Worley” is on the case. And the local law enforcement wants to check with his supervisor OH GOD OH GOD THE PHONE IS RINGING IN THE BUNKER DEAN IS ANSWERING IT
“He wants to talk to you” OH THAT’S FINE MY HEART JUST DROPPED TO MY TOES THAT’S COOL COOL COOL
“Sam’s been trying to call you...check your damn messages” and Dean checking on Cas and warning him about Chuck. Listen, I am Cas in this scene, Cas is me. Cas just LOSES IT and so did I. Dean, wtf, my dude, my pet, my love, my dumbass, it was your idea to alienate him, and *now* you’re telling him not to be a stranger, and warning him about the big bad that is a threat to them all, oh Dean, oh honey, you really do suck at being done with Cas, and Cas sucks at being done with you.
So Cas has a smol nervous breakdown because DEAN and rubs his hand hard over his face and can’t hold character as Agent Worley then pulls it together to maintain his cover.
I know, Cas, I know. Dean can be A LOT.
Sam finding Rowena’s journeys has got me all thinking about how Sam goes from blood relative legacy of John’s journal that Sam didn’t really choose but eventually appreciated as legacy to found family legacy of Rowena’s journal, a bond and a legacy Sam chose.
Sam telling Eileen what happened to Rowena OH MY HEART. This episode is a lot.
Eileen trying to comfort Sam and her ghostly hand goes right through him...and at the end of the ep they can touch. I WILL BE SHOUTING ABOUT THIS FOR A WHILE.
“Her magic. This is how she kept control.” Sam talks about how Rowena understood how the deck was stacked, Sam talks about Rowena in a way that shows how deeply he understood Rowena. *cries*
Sam wants to bring ghost Eileen back to flesh and blood life. *screaming internally*
Seeing Cas in researchy mode, helping others, giving others hope, being a competent autonomous hunter THIS IS SO GOOD.
Loved the way Sam and Eileen use sign in general. And Sam signing “my brother” to Eileen so she can get help for him as he’s captured by the witches.
Seems weirdly apt the actress who played Chuck’s publisher now plays one of the witches who kidnaps Sam.
We’ve often seen spn use toxic siblings as dark mirrors for Sam and Dean, cautionary notes and red flags. In this ep the toxic sibling mirror seems to allow to highlight the functionlity of Sam and Dean. The witch sister pranks that were malicious and harmful vs Winchester pranks that aren’t harmful, but done out of affection, and to lighten the strain they’re under from what they do.
Enjoyed these scenes with Melly and Cas as Melly talks about her son and how they fight but “we’ll get through.” Relevant familial stuff there, and applies for parents and kids, siblings, or, y’know, whatever pseudo-spousal thing Dean and Cas have going on. Cas also relates to Melly as someone who rejected their expected roles put on them by higher ups in the chain, and wanted something better. Free will.
Yes I so like that Cas gets a win in this ep. He finds the missing son, reunites a family. Melly and her son seem to take the whole supernatural being savior hero thing fairly calmly, considering. And this ep also reminds us, very clearly: Cas is a hero. Sam and Dean are not the only heroes of this story.
I enjoy badass Cas and Cas was an able hunter in this ep but he really is NOT okay. A simple clean kill would have been enough for this djinn, but the way he kept stabbing the monster over and over, splattered in blood that isn’t his own, he’s compensating or something. Cas looked anguished. Cas is dealing with a lot. Feeling rejected by Dean, losing the only family he has, and his anger at Chuck for messing with them all so severely. Cas went to the woods and the lake seeking peace and wound up covered in blood.
Hm, so Cas can heal the boy’s ankle but he struggles to use his grace, which seems to be spluttering like it’s low on fuel. Looks like those human Cas metas are still pointing in likely directions.
“If I stay nothing changes...it’s time for me to get back in the game.” Yes he could stay in the woods and the lake and fish and take the occasional hunt, and hide forever from the ones he still loves but doubts his place and hide from the urgent main fight. But he can’t. Back the game...is also coming home.
Ghost Eileen is a badass and saves Sam HELL YEAH. Rowena’s legacy, Dean racing in last minute, and ghost Eileen, all saved Sam in this ep.
“I learned from the best.” Sam using Rowena’s teaching to defeat the witches. There’s that legacy again.
The spell to restore ghost Eileen to flesh and blood involves a bath that seems ritualistic, with Sam performing the spell. I am NEVER getting over how Sam is shaking with emotion while he courteously keeps his back to her. Never ever ever. And then their hands...finally touching. Clasping each other. And Sam hugging damp Eileen. Sam’s FACE. Oh my god I’m never ever getting over this.
This is so hopeful and joyful and it still hurts, Sam has been through so much and he’s had so much pain, and since Eileen was introduced, she seemed to bring out a light in him that gave me a pang right here *taps chest*. We’re seeing it in this episode. OUCH OUCH MY HEART.
Eileen is a great character in her own right and I love her and disliked how she was killed off so so much and it helps so much that SPN did this and restored her, and Eileen and Sam together, just gets me. Right in the chest.
This last Sam and Dean scene. “I don’t know what’s God and what isn’t” says Dean. HELLO WHAT HAVE I BEEN SAYING AND SAYING ABOUT DEAN’S STATE OF MIND AND WHY HE’S ACTING THE WAY HE DID TOWARDS CAS.
“We’re the guys who break the rules.” WOW LOOK IT’S MY METAS ENACTED VIA DIALOGUE
Sam is basically taking my position—that while Chuck manipulates some events, he can’t control everything and they make their own choices and do the unpredictable things. While Dean is caught in the nihilism of believing everything was manipulated, almost nothing was real.
Just as I don’t think Chuck wanted Cas to come back in S13 and that was an unpredicted twist, I don’t think Eileen is back due to Chuck’s meddling. Eileen’s spirit sought out Sam and Dean, Rowena’s legacy, her unfinished spell for Mary, is what allows Sam to perform the ritual spell to restore Eileen. As Cas has been tied to Dean’s sense of hope, Eileen has been an immensely hopeful figure for Sam. I don’t think Chuck wants them to have this. Can’t be 100% sure, maybe he wants them to have their hope just so he can crush them even harder, but these relationships being part of breaking out of Chuck’s machine, to make their own rules, find hope despite those machinations, makes sense to me.
“I need my brother.” Yes, you do. You both do. Sam and Dean don’t just need only each other, but they are rule breakers and they do need each other. Team Free Will is essential to break Chuck’s machine, and Team Free Will is Sam & Dean, Dean & Cas, Sam & Cas, and all 3.
While the ice has broken a bit between Dean and Cas in this ep, they still aren’t talking about Cas. But their biggest wild card is on his way home and they are Team Free Rule Breakers, all three of them.

Novel Prep Tag: gifted
Thanks for tagging me, @aziz-writes! You’re a gem as always!
Note: I’m talkative, so most of my side comments are crossed out don’t mind me
First Look
1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch)
After nearly failing the application test, a young girl rejected by a superpowered society for not having a superpower* of her own is accepted into Falks, a school that teaches kids how to be superheroes. But after an attack on the school nearly kills her and her classmates, she must learn to work with her new friends before one of her oldest friends is lost forever.
(*’superpowers’ in this universe are called Gifts, and those who have them are called Gifted. The minority who don’t have Gifts are called Ungifted. The title is ironic and also a reference to a running joke Sofia has with herself)
2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Novella, single book, book series, etc.)
It’s the first book in a series! Right now I have four books, but since I’m a chronic overwriter, that may or may not have to be extended to five books.
3. What’s your novel’s aesthetic?
Honestly? Aesthetics aren’t really my thing, so I’m not sure. Maybe soft warm colors, that surprised flutter in your chest when someone gives you a thoughtful present, the ache after yet another workout, that scratchy feeling in your throat when your right on the edge of crying but no one else can tell? This started out as a lighthearted superhero story I swear-
4. What other stories inspire your novel?
If you’re an anime fan, you’ll probably look at the general premise of this and some of the basic details of some of the characters and go “Wait a second, that’s a lot like My Hero Academia” and listen. I know. It’s not the same plot though, I promise! Really, at this point, I’d like to think that it’s undergone so many changes that the two are pretty decently removed, but *shrugs*. I’m not as pressed about it anymore.
I was also loosely inspired by Harry Potter, simply because my book also takes place throughout a school year, so I’m using Harry Potter as a frame of reference for pacing (theoretically). That being said, trans rights and fuck JK Rowling am I right?
5. Share 3+ images that give a feel for the novel
For the sake of saving space, I’ll not do that this go around. But imagine fireworks, a freshly brewed cup of tea, and an overwhelmingly expensive weight room and you’ve got a pretty good image of three important things in this book.
Main Characters
6. Who is your protagonist?
Sofia Smith! The Ungifted girl with a chip on her shoulder! Also an utter jock who usually wears athleisurewear and trust me, I’m as thrilled as you are about that. I don’t work out! I don’t even know what a healthy workout routine looks like! What have I done-
7. Who is their closest ally?
I’d say it’s a toss-up between Leona Kita, a girl she meets during the application tests who quickly becomes her new best friend and is not all that she seems, and Romilly Quirke, a teacher at Falks with whom she develops a close mentorship and is not all that she seems
8. Who is their enemy?
In the beginning, it’s Kyran ‘Kruze’ Cinege, Sofia’s childhood friend-turned-enemy. However, the turning point of the novel is when it’s revealed that while she and Kruze are always fighting (physically or not), there’s someone out there who’s actively trying to kill her and that person might be a more pressing threat than Kruze.
You may also see me occasionally mention The Prophet’s Daughter, who, like all of the important antagonists in this series, hilariously still doesn’t have an actual name. It’s fine. Everything’s fine.
9. What do they want more than anything?
To become the top Hero it’s not bnha you weeb
10. Why can’t they have it?
She’s Ungifted, so no one believes she can do it. Not only that, but also every single other person in her class at Falks is highly qualified - they’re the most promising kids in the country, after all - and also highly motivated to do the same, so she’s got... a lot of competition.
11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?
That she can hold up the weight of the world on her own - worse, that she has to hold up the weight of the world on her own. Among other things
12. Draw your protagonist! (Or share a description)
Not an artist, but I can freely say that Sofia’s face claim is Amandla Stenberg (especially Hunger Games era Amandla Stenberg because, you know, high school).
Plot Points
13. What is the internal conflict?
She’s desperately lonely, but to admit she needs other people is to admit weakness, and to admit weakness is to admit defeat - something she absolutely cannot do. I mean, not really and it’s okay to ask for help, but she doesn’t know that. We’re working on it.
14. What is the external conflict?
Sofia is fighting the entire world to become a Hero and also someone is trying to kill her and her classmates.
Oh and each book revolves around her relationship (platonic or otherwise) with one of what I call the ‘core five’ changing and developing in a radically game-changing way. In this book, it’s her and Kruze struggling to come to terms with elements of their past and maybe overcome their conflict to become friends again...? Except their both stubborn assholes and have been fighting for so long they can’t remember how to exist in the same room without one of them blowing up eventually (literally, in Kruze’s case) (I’ll probably talk more about the core five in a different post tbh)
15. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist?
Oof. Well. If someone died on her watch, that’d be pretty bad for her. Good thing that’ll never happen though! Haha...ha...hm.
16. What secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story?
Of this story? Shit maybe they weren’t after me after all. The story as a whole? Wait, you’re my what?
17. Do you know how it ends?
I actually have the epilogue of the last book already planned out! I will cry when I actually write it. But the end of the main plotline? Eh... I know who all is involved, and what all of the characters have evolved into at that point. But how Sofia and co. actually defeat the BBEG? I am... less sure.
18. What is the theme?
In this book specifically: it’s okay to step back and ask for help when you’re struggling - just because you can’t do it on your own doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be where you are.
In the overall series: something something found family something the power of friendship.
19. What is a recurring symbol?
Oh damn, this is a really good question. In fact, since I’m still in first draft mode (although I did write maybe a good quarter or so of a zero draft) I don’t think any have really emerged that I’ve noticed yet? But I guess I’ll come back and update this if I think of anything.
20. Where is the story set? (Share a description!)
It’s set in a very fancy, very modern private school that’s on the edge of a city somewhere near Washington D.C. I’m... not great at describing environments/settings, though, so that’s all you get haha
21. Do you have any images or scenes in your mind already?
Oh yeah, plenty. I have this whole book outlined, actually, on a chapter-by-chapter level! I got excited and also bored during my three-hour-interim between classes, and there was a whiteboard just asking to be filled... I even have some disconnected scenes from future books floating around in my mind - some incredibly emotional and poignant, some glorified shitposts. Ah, writing. It’s such a magnificent hobby.
22. What excited you about this story?
The characters! No joke, there are sixteen kids in the Falks class including Sofia, and every single one of them has their own complex backstories, motivations, and character arcs - not to mention I’ve spent a significant portion of time outlining each of their Gifts and figuring out how exactly they work. I could ramble about any of them for hours.
And that’s not even mentioning Sofia’s family, the villains, the teachers... I just really love every single character in this book!
23. Tell us about your usual writing method!
Step one: watch or read something. Anything. A movie, another book, a commercial, a music video, a tiktok, I’m not kidding just about anything will do. Step two: think ‘oh, I could do that better’. Step three: jot down some early lines or general ideas. Step four: leave it to stew for a little while as you think ‘oh jeez maybe I can’t do it as well as I thought’. Step five: get suddenly inspired on it and feverishly carve out several rough chapters. Step six: let it stew some more. Step seven: get newly inspired, realize how much has changed in your mind about that earlier draft, call that the zero draft, and actually do an outline this time. Step eight: ...Write it for realsies this time!
Whew, that was a doozie! Super fun though! So, according to the rules, you’re supposed to tag the same number of people as questions you answered. So there are 23 questions, and it turns out I’ve got exactly 23 people who (I don’t think) aren’t opposed to tag games, so here, have something besides a last line tag for once! Enjoy!
REMEMBER! You are under no obligation to do this - especially since this one can seem overwhelming. I’ll be thrilled if you do it, but I won’t be disappointed or upset if you pass.
Anyways, tagging: @alcego-writes, @alanwrites, @ajbrooks-writes, @evergrcen, @jewellsfrommaruss, @brookswriting, @signedjordan, @writhoelogy, @the-violet-writer, @dustylovelyrun, @linarious, @cookiecutterwrites, @honeyprincerising, @acaptainandhisrunaway, @angelolytle, @dogwrites, @mxxnwishes, @magicalwriting, @bisexual-in-progress, @writerfae, @ocmaker, @fullydevoted, @hanboggsbooks

A legit Beast Bots Episode?!
It really is a Christmas Miracle! O.O
Steel finally takes up cooking along with his fellow Beast Bots only for the Rangers to turn down their requests to spend Christmas with them. They recount how the Rangers do have families of their own expecting them, leading into the clip show portion. It’s not bad and helps to emphasis how the Rangers do have lives outside of their hero work. Something the Tzacher era barely got.
That said, it still has the issue of editing together the clips to just let them play. I feel that they’d flow a lot better and be more entertaining if the characters were talking over the clips in a back-and-forth way with some color commentary. It’s not bad since these are actually cool scenes I enjoy but they could do with a bit of spicing up. Maybe a little tongue-in-cheek with the actors adlibbing with ADR.
Scrozzle interrupts the fuzzy trip down memory lane with a new Robotron made from what I suppose was a leftover code of the Evox virus. Well, I say “new” but Burnertron is actually adapted from Mission 2 of Go Busters where the team had its first ground battle as a trio. The episode even has Nate and Steel go off to face Scrozzle off-screen from the Sentai footage in order to even things out.
I honestly love it when Power Rangers isn’t afraid to mix up the order of the Sentai episodes they’re adapting in order to tell its own story. Mind you, the purple flames here were an obvious CGI edit made for the FCC... which I don’t get. It’s still hot, flesh-searing fire so what difference does it make to make it a whole other color. Yeesh, Peter Griffin really was right about the friggin’ FCC...
Meanwhile, the Beetle Brothers finds themselves battling Scrozzle and his deadly... Christmas Ornament beam. Clearly he left most of his best tech back in the Cyber Dimension but whatever works works as Devon and Zoey find themselves being hung on a Christmas tree. So... what was Scrozzle going to do with that tree? Celebrate Christmas with Tronics? Burn it with the Rangers?
Steel tries to figure out the Christmas tree laser beam (only in Power Rangers) but ends up putting Ravi on the tree and just as a Gigadrone’s incoming. The Rangers encourage the Beast Bots by reminding them of how they helped them out in the field. Mind you, these were usually one-off moments that weren’t even in their own episodes. Still, Smash facing Turbotron was cool regardless.
That said, the Beast Bots do get their time to shine when they actually interface with the restored Zords (I’m guessing Nate and Steel’s are still being rebuilt) and pilot them all on their own. First, I was just smiling over how they removed the shots of the Go Busters fairly well (some iffy video editing aside) so the Beast Bots could shine, not too unlike how Arcanon got the Dino Charge Zords.
Second, I like that the final Zord battle of the season doesn’t involve the Megazord but the individual components doing their part like Smash evacuating a whole road like in Lightspeed Rescue or Jax dousing the not purple flames. Cruise even pulls off the finisher without the Cheetah X Blaster. I’m not sure how but I’m guessing there’s an alternative means of engaging the final blow. :P
Scrozzle even got in on the action by piloting the Gigadrones, something I hope that Season 2 utilizes more. It seems that Cruise finishes him off but we all know that when you never find the body, they always come back one way or another. I suppose its to make Season 1 a bit more self-contained, Mayor Daniels aside. Though a cliffhanger of him working on Robo-Blaze would been fairly darn cool.
Steel restores the Rangers in the nick of time as Santa Claus pops in to give the Beast Bots a personal trip to the North Pole, Steel’s favorite as it happens. I don’t think I will ever get over how Power Rangers has Santa Claus as a part of its canon. Mind you, I feel like they could bring in some of the supporting cast like Commander Shaw being eager to see Chris Kringle despite her sternness.
Beast Morphers was certainly a delight from how it adapted Go-Busters despite it being a few years back and pulled off a very creative adaptation. I might stan Ninja Steel but I’ll also admit that I could’ve done more in terms of story and character arcs. I enjoyed the Ninja Rangers and even plenty of the individual episodes along with their silliness. I’ll certain stick up for Victor and Monty too.
All the same, Beast Morphers had each episode largely build off what had been previously established. Steel himself would be the culmination of the first eight episode’s Cybergate arc. The Beast Power Up mode would lead to Vargoyle’s debut and then Evox’s ultimate endgame where the Cybergate returns for the Rangers to utilize. All while their episodic structure is well maintained overall. :)
Next season, old friends and foes alike return for one doozy of an adventure...

5, 14, and 32 for the dnd ask meme, please!
o shit another one ok!
in the words of the good red man, here a we go i think i said that last time actually oh well
5. Favorite NPC
Oh that’s a tough one.  I think it’s tied between Bernard Tripsocket, gnome conspiracy theorist, Julian Montressor, the dapper physicist pirate captain of the Stern played by Christopher Jackson, and Mzumiel (Zoomy), a three-city-block-long beta fish eel monster, demon lord of the fourth column, master of the ethereal and lover of model trains, the billion-eyed and long-mouthed, and owner of the most soothing telepathic southern accent this side of the underdark.
this next one’s a doozy so its under the cut
14.  Introduce the other parties you’ve played in / DMed
I’ve DMed for just one other party, and played in just one other party too.  And technically speaking, the party i DMed for was part of the same story as all the characters in the last answer?  Here let me explain.
There are three parties:  the CFRP, the Freelancers, and the Librarians.  The CFRP stands for Center for Firmament Research and Protection, and they’re the party I outlined last #asked and answered.
The Freelancers are a team of legendary heroes *snrk* who do adventures for hire.  They’re honestly a more traditional dnd party, but we play the freelancer campaign in dungeon world, so fuck you.
Helios Amastacia, high elf paladin.
Remember Venus Amastiacia from the last post?  Her older sibling has been out looking for their wayward sister for years.  Helios is built like a brick shit house and bares the power of Tyr, the one-armed god of tactics and war.  They’re by far the most level-headed of the bunch.  Strong parent vibes but also strong sibling vibes, and also just generally very strong.
Tex McCree, human fighter.
Jesus Fucking Christ this man.  He’s fucked his way across half the continent, at some point toppled some kind of feudal lineage, accidentally got a lordship, peaced out of that and found A Shotgun, somehow, sweet-talked his way into bed with the chairwoman of the Shatterpeak Council (Keegan’s mom), he’s a mess!  He’s a mess!  He got grossed out by touching a dead body like a week ago!
Mira the Blade, human thief.
She’s the best thief in the world.  No, really.  I’m not just saying that, it’s important for her character arc.  She’s even stolen from the Amastacia vaults, which she and Helios have laughs about sometimes.  She likes to push the limits of her abilities and wouldn’t be caught dead in a bathing suit for a number of unspecified reasons.  Very gay, extremely gay.  Has an as-of-yet unidentified link with Nikolai Hoobluff from the CFRP campaign.  :3c
Hollik Bannagammer Merrilin, gnome bard/barbarian.
Baby boy.  He just wants to write good songs about his heroes, Mira and Helios.  Him and Tex are very good chaotic friends who have never caused problems ever for the party in any circumstances.  One time he bought approximately 2000 dollars worth of fish from a butcher at 4 in the morning.  His catchphrase is, “Hello, new friends!”  Also if you hurt his friends he will kill you.
Sunbeam Talbot, halfling ranger.
So this one’s fun.  In the second arc of the Freelancer campaign, before Talbot joins up, they get hired by Hollik’s brother Bernard to steal his notes back from the museum he recently got fired from because his notes prove some big conspiracy or whatever.  Talbot happened to work at that museum, and Mira tried to steal his ID to get in, but Talbot clocked her before she got away.  So now that the museum’s been destroyed by ancient death roots from beyond time (don’t ask), he’s hunting her down to figure out what the fuck is going on.  Also, in the CFRP campaign, he’s the head of the CFRP.
So, for those of you keeping track, the timeline is super convoluted and intriguing.  I have a lot of reveals I really really want to get to, so hopefully we’ll be able to start playing again once school lets out after next week.
So that’s the Freelancers.
The Librarians are a group of relic hunters brought together by a mysterious pair of brothers to recover a mirror from an ancient ruin that totally isn’t made of rebar and concrete for undisclosed reasons.  We haven’t played much with them because Katie’s been busy but I’m totally in love with her world.
Alys al’Damo, half-elf wizard.
Alys is off looking for the chosen one to guide them on their quest for something something.  She doesn’t really know who or what she’s looking for.  All she has to go on is vague prophecy and tarot-like character descriptions that she adheres to vehemently.  She also has a very good hawk familiar and specializes in fire magic.
Vix Sen, half-orc bard.
Vix is a very strong very sexy fashion designer.  She’s the Edna Mode of dungeoneering.  She’s designed turtlenecks for the king of all turtles probably.  Mostly she spends her time nowadays casting three thunderwaves in a minute jesus fuck Vix please I like having EARS.
Jedediah Brookes, human warlock.
Doctor Brookes is very dirty and greasy and very nice.  He has a secret doctor’s office in the seedy part of town where he stitches people up for free if they’re down on their luck, but in secret, like batman.  But surgery doesn’t explain his witch bolts.  Turns out his dad is a god of healing or something?  And Jed, being great, begrudgingly made a pact with him to be his emissary on earth.
Cederus Dur-Barundeaunt, dwarf cleric.
This boy is mine!  Cederus is a very old, very wise dwarf who’s spent most of his life in the clergy.  He’s that sort of old man style rascal where your pop pop would smuggle you a sweet when your mom said no sweets.  The most important part of his characterization though, and the reason I love playing him so much, is because of a bit of worldbuilding I did with Katie.  Dwarves in this world calcify as they get old.  Cederus is getting on in years, and two parts have already started to turn to limestone:  his upper leg, and his eyes.  He is totally blind and relies on his familiar to see.
I had to do some homebrewing with Katie to make Cederus work right because clerics aren’t supposed to have familiars and I had to start at level 2 for this campaign.  He’s got an extremely thick french accent.  I love him.
AND FINALLY
32.  Your favorite role to play (tank, healer, etc)
I haven’t played many roles actually (I’m the DM it’s my curse), but honestly, I don’t even think of characters like that at this point.  I’m not really very interested in playing any particular “role“ over the others, because I’m not really into that kind of play?  The numbers and the mechanics are a lot of fun, sure, but the reason I play DnD is to write a good story with my friends!  I’d much rather play a character with a motivation or theme that I’m really into than fill a party role, although roles can be useful in coming up with motivations!
THIS WAS SO BIG IM SO SORRY and also very late!  but if anyone is interested in more of this, let me know!

Everything you need to know about Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a massive game which is completely based on historical accuracy. It is the history of blacksmith's son named Henry. Now several complicated systems are kept in the game that you can review. The early hours of showing the Kingdom Come are completely peaceful. In the game, you have to help your father who is a blacksmith. here
Tumblr media
But it couldn’t be easy because you have trouble with your mates before they flirt with your girlfriend. After all this, Henry makes itself comfortable in the simple life but the whole village is destroyed. After the mysterious army attack before it kills all he loves or burns down. This is the biggest crucial flashpoint of the games or political turmoil.
Henry is such as hero in the game of but I think the the point to change the storyline of gaming. The existence of things helps Henry to find himself during the bloody war. - Kingdom come is action or RPG game without the Dragons or Dungeons. There is no sword, goblins before you could spell cast.
Tumblr media
One more thing to know about Henry is that she can handle himself in the fight because they are completely far from the master’s words man. In the kingdom of every battle is important for one mistake will take you to the side. So you have to be careful during the battle for focus on all the controls that would strike a bar or many more. You can move the stick in a few directions or think the opponent’s next mover or react according to retail. But it’s possible when you are fighting with multiple Enemies at the same time. It could be difficult to survive or getting the Encounters to kill the enemies.

- Whether you want to become a good Archer in the game, the opening hours are completely tough because your hands are shaking. It turns out because you do not have enough experience to use the Archer. Now you can try the easy means to point up the skill to let the Enemies super close or kill them. It is not only damages the enemy but kills the enemy as soon as you want.

My Thoughts on...Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse
Tumblr media
Oh man, that was a doozy! After jumping into spikes repeatedly (though not by choice) I finally beat Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. So what did I think of it? Do I like it more than Half Genie Hero? Is this a franchise I want to sink my teeth into? Well, let’s start with...
Gameplay
Tumblr media
The gameplay for this game is very similar to Half Genie Hero (which I will abbreviate as HGH, Pirate’s Curse will be PC) with one key exception, no transformations. Spoiler alert, but at the end of the second game (Shantae: Risky’s Revenge) Risky Boots was able to strip Shantae of her Genie powers. So now Shantae has to go through this adventure without her powers. How do they compensate for this? By giving Shantae Risky’s pirate equipment. And it’s really fun. The pirate equipment is actually really accessible and easy to use. No pausing or equipping. It’s always there. You just have to perform the action you need. This makes the gameplay faster than HGH. That doesn’t make it any easy though. I’ve lost too many potions to jumping on spikes like an idiot. And don’t even get me started on that last tower. Fuck those rooms. I just beat the game once, so I can’t wait to play pirate mode next.
Audio & Visuals
When it comes to the visuals, I do have to give it to HGH. That doesn’t mean that the art in this game is any bad. Far from it. Everything has a pixel look but the sprites are still super cute. The colors are bright and you can see everything. The character models for the bosses are something to behold, especially the Pirate Master. The character portraits are just...wow. Everyone’s so sexy. I love it!
The audio is also very good. The music has this great energy to it and is on par (if not better) than HGH. Cristina Vee is Shantae and it’s still really cool.
Story
The story, again, is very fetch-questy but that seems to be the norm with this franchise. I’m not complaining; I’m just mentioning it.
Tumblr media
Even without her Genie powers, Shantae still wants to protect Scuttle Town from the forces of evil. Neat, except Ammo Baron raids the town and declares himself the rightful owner of the town. And the weird thing is HE’S RIGHT. The mayor actually sold the town to Ammo Baron for a bunch of chocolates, so Ammo Baron is going to turn Scuttle Town into his new headquarters to take over Sequin Land. Shantae fights him off but gets a court summons for her troubles. That’s right. She got in trouble for fighting off the bad guy. She tries to forget her troubles with a nice hot bath when Shantae remembers she actually doesn’t own a bathtub and it turns out to be a trap by Risky Boots. Where does one get a booby trapped bathtub? Who knows? When did Risky Boots put it in Shantae’s home? Fantastic. Why did Risky Boots physically drag the bathtub with Shantae in it to her uncle’s workshop? Shut your face. Risky’s pirate gear is missing and her tinkerbats are acting up. She blames Shantae and to prove it, shows her a captured tinkerbat in Uncle Mimic’s workshop. The tinkerbat transforms into a cacklebat, and Shantae destroys it and sucks up its dark magic into the magic lamp from the previous game. Risky Boots explains that her old captain, THE PIRATE MASTER, is looking to come back from the grave and they must team up to destroy the sources of his power and steal all the dark magic left so he can’t use it.
Tumblr media
The story is not the best, but the dialogue and character reactions are. You can’t help but smile at the ridiculousness of some of these situations. I wasn’t joking in that summary there. Risky Boots traps Shantae in a tub. One moment, they’re in her lighthouse then they cut to Uncle Mimic’s workshop and Shantae’s still in the tub. Did Risky push it herself the entire way? She doesn’t have the tinkerbats to help her, so she must have! I want to give more examples but a lot of these jokes are best experienced for yourself. Everything from the He-Man parody to girls swimming in drool. Trust me. It’s a bunch of fun.
Characters
Tumblr media
Shantae
She’s still a cutie. You know she’s a real good guy when she’s the one to wants to team up with Risky Boots and try to convince her to be a full time good guy. Shantae trying on the pirate clothes and failing to talk pirate was both hilarious and adorable. She still puts herself down sometimes, but I’d imagine this adventure was a real confidence booster. Fun, adorable, and sincere, half genie or not, she’s a full time hero in my book.
Risky Boots
The High Queen of the Seven Seas, or at least she will be unless the PIRATE MASTER comes back. Risky Boots reluctantly teams up with Shantae to prevent the PIRATE MASTER’s return and it wasn’t as corny as I thought it was going to be. I’ve seen stories like this where the good guy and the bad guy team up and it turns out they have a lot in common and they bond and they reluctantly have to go back to hating each other even though they like each other now. They didn’t really do that here. Granted, Shantae wanted to but Risky stayed focused on the task at hand. She knows exactly how bad the PIRATE MASTER is and will do whatever it takes to prevent his return. On top of that, she’s actually cursed to eventually become his slave if he gets too powerful. There is a nice moment at the end, but before you get too many ideas, a quick reminder that Risky Boots is the primary antagonist for HGH. Maybe this team up was a one time thing. Either way, Risky Boots looks out for number one.
THE PIRATE MASTER
Tumblr media
Damn this dude is ugly! The Pirate Master is the big bad, but I don’t have much to say about him other than that: he’s the big bad. He is threatening and he’s mean and that’s about it. To be fair he just comes out in the last part of the game. I will admit I did have a little bit of fun reading his lines in the Broken Matt Hardy voice. Delightful.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
I had a bunch of fun and with two games down in a four game franchise I can say without a doubt, I am a fan. I don’t know if I should get Shantae: Risky’s Revenge or try Pirate Queen’s Quest for HGH next, but I’m all in.
tl;dr because I’m a stupid idiot
It’s fun.
It’s funny.
Everyone’s sexy.
Great tunes.
