The Devotee is in
Hello Paganblr!
*Pours myself copious amounts of herbal tea* I would like to acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of this land and pay my respects to the Elders past, present and emerging. I acknowledge that Aboriginal sovereignty has not been ceded.
It is Saturday morning here in Australia and while I have resumed playing Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical as an Apollo + Hermes devotional act I am also at my PC slowly beginning to start on some of my Tumblr to-do list (posts on various Polytheistic concepts).
Please feel free to drop an ask and I will try to help you as best as I can.
Housekeeping:
Please specify whether you are a reconstructionist pagan or neopagan, noting that I am Neopagan of over 2 decades and as such, I am best equipped to assist the latter.
Please specify whether you are a Worshipper or Devotee or just wanting to start the process of worshipping a deity.
I love assisting my fellow pagans however the expectation is that you know how to use the search bar in your search engine and social apps of choice so unless your query specifically requests details on certain things I am running under the assumption that you know the difference between worshipper & devotee, the basics of the deities you are seeking guidance with etc.
Please state whether or not you are a minor so that I can ensure that my advice is age appropriate, I would hate to have a "Minors DNI" when I would prefer to help guide you on your journey since when I was a teenager I had to rely on magazines and books alone...
Thank you Apollo and Hermes in guiding me in this devotional act of service this weekend
Disclaimer: While I have 3x psychological first aid certificates & 11 years experience of assisting people in crisis I am not a registered mental health practitioner and as such if you are experiencing concerning and/or distressing medical or psychological symptoms please seek professional help ASAP. If you are currently concerned about your personal safety or the safety of others, please seek urgent advice in accordance to the laws & organisations available in your local area.

Went to a local business, Rosie’s Workshop in Westfield Ny. The ace is a bottle opener I’m dedicating to Hermes. The pottery is a homemade candle called “bonfires and bad decisions”.

When you step into sunlight, you honor Apollo. When you admire the moon, you honor Artemis. When you admire cloud shapes, you honor Hera. When you smell petrichor, you honor Zeus. When you laugh at a joke, you honor Hermes. When your body twitches to dance at a particularly upbeat music, you honor Dinoysus. When you enjoy the first bite of your breakfast, you honor Demeter. When you choose your peace over any conflict, you honor Athena. When you warm yourself up by sheltering yourself in blanket, you honor Hestia. When you listen to Ocean sounds, you honor Poseidon. When you smell flowers, you honor Persephone. When you admire the coolness of first day of Autumn, you honor Hades. When you wear your favourite jewellery, you honor Hephaestus. When you smile, you honor Aphrodite. When you exercise, you honor Ares. When you light a torch in a dark room, you honor Hekate.
Your body is a shrine to Gods, your being an act of devotion for them. You, by yourself, are enough for them.

I asked Lord Hermes for my package a day early in exchange for fruit snacks. Not any fruit snacks, the good ones.
Guess who got his package?

When Wish dot com misinterprets Papa Smurf as "daddy smurf" and fails.
Even if I wasn't a pagan I would still find this to be super tacky. Look how they massacred my boy.

Only you know your relationship with your god. Don’t second guess it.
It saddens me to see posts on here and on other sites about how having a causal relationship with your god is disrespectful and you shouldn’t give them nicknames. That just makes me so upset every time I see it.
Because one of the things I know for a fact is if a god felt disrespected by your behavior towards them, you’d know.
If xyz didn’t want you to treat them like a sibling, best friend, mentor, parent, (or even a lover. Not my place to judge.), you’d know. Just because you have that type of relationship with them doesn’t mean you don’t respect them or don’t work with and/or worship them.
They’re gods, yes. But they also love you and want to help you. You felt how they appeared to you, I bet you knew very quickly what type of relationship you’d have with them. What type of role in your life they would fill. Or maybe you didn’t and it happened a lot more slowly. All of that is okay. What’s also okay is if you have a very strict relationship with them, that’s also fine.
But my goodness don’t try to police or judge how gods are with other people.
99.9% of the time it’s the gods setting that type of dynamic in the first place so please be respectful to other dynamics.
You’re not better than other worshipers because you don’t joke around or call a god your bestie.
#I hate seeing that shit fr#if Hermes didn’t like me calling him dad he’d say so cmon now#I have a post on my page that talks about how I curse at Helios 24/7. he’s fine I promise you.#deity worship#hellenic polytheism#helpol#deity work#hellenic worship#hellenic polythiest#hellenic devotion#greek deities#hellenic deities#hellenic community#hellenism#hermes deity#deity dionysus#hermes devotee#dionysus devotee#ares devotee#deity aphrodite#aphrodite worship#aphrodite devotee#psyche deity#eros deity#dolos devotee#deity helios#helios devotee#deity ares#hypnos deity#hypnos devotee

Yeah Hermes Triamegistus really helped me out this year.
Can you believe I've heard people call Hermes a USELESS god...
HERMES! Thee Hermes!!! You know, the...
God of travel
God of communication
God of languages
God of athletics
God of cunning
God of merchants
God of trade
God of MONEY!!!!
He's also a god who can help you with fertility issues, help you communicate with your gods, help you with your magic, sleep, help you communicate with the dead and will help you cross over when you die 'cus he's a psychopomp!
Plus he's a god I often pray to about my dysphoria because his child is Hermaphroditus (Hermes' name is there combined with Aphrodite's which is super cute!)
And he's a STORYTELLER!
I can't believe the amount of people who, over the course of my life have been like, "yeah he's funny but, like, what else?"
WHAT ELSE?! He's the father of LUCK!!! In some versions his daughter is Tyche (Fortuna)!
So he is also the god of making your own luck!
Plus in some versions of his myths (because myths are regional and depend on their cultural context and time period) he invented the Lyre and gave it to Apollo as a peace offering and in some versions even made the pan pipes! Which makes him a god of music!
HERMES IS A JACK OF ALL TRADES AND IN THIS EVER CHANGING WORLD YOU NEED A JACK OF ALL TRADES BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S COMING!
Hermes is a fucking Olympian for a reason! Sorry for the foul language but I love him so much!
Anyway, Hermes is amazing!
He is an amazing god to work with and he's a damn good storyteller! He works for both Zeus and Hades and is known to favor humans even in ancient times where the gods were seen as crueler, Hermes has always been a comforting break from the storm.
Pray to Hermes, it will literally change your life!
