Okay anon, thank you so so much for this request! I had toooooooons of fun writing it and was compltely ingrossed in the process, so it's lacking of pretty metaphores or deaper meaning. Just 1000w of exposition + around 500w of spicy scenes. Also, as you suggested clubbing, the reader here is not a naive and shy one, but a slut regular girlie feeling a bit out of her element in the beginning. Also it's kinda a cyberpunk AU (not game or cartoon, just a genre) and oh lord. I am dead for it. Warnings: fem! reader, pretty mild actually, some touching by unfamiliar people, grinding, kissing, NOT PROOFREAD

It all started with the innocent revelation that you’ve never been to a club, except for dingy dancing nights in local tiny pubs in nearby cities, so once your company hit July city, Vash took it upon himself to introduce you to a clubbing culture. “It’ll be fun” he said with a pure enthusiasm and a signature kitty smile. You’ve been very reluctant, but even Meryl and Milly went clubbing a few times in student years, besides with a little pocket Cerberus which was Meryl you weren’t feeling like it would be any kind of dangerous endeavor.

Even out on the night streets you’ve felt so out of place, as Vash has been navigating the narrow alleyways as if he’s just been here. All kinds of people passed your company – hair dyed in acidic colors, clothes looking like something you’ve seen in barely survived old superhero comic books, visible parts of body infused with ancient technology. Perhaps that’s what living near the biggest parts of fallen ships and an abundant quantity of pants provides you with.

As you’ve been walking at the end of your group, mouth agape, you suddenly hit Meryl’s back as you’ve heard Vash’s upbeat “Here we are” as he has been opening a pretty unsuspicious looking grey door. Once you entered it, a strong smell of alcohol, sweat and something else completely indescribable hit your nose, as well as muffled sounds of music (you were not sure what it was) filling in all your sensory perceptions. You’ve also been made to strip of your outer clothing and searched through for any prohibited items – such as guns, your own alcohol, and narcotics (what in the hell?).

While you’ve been reluctantly putting your belongings away in the security box, feeling completely out of place wearing a basic black tank top and worn-out cargo pants. “Don’t worry, sweet cheeks, a few ‘Aunt Robertas’ and you’ll be going to have sooo much fun, I promise. This night is all about you” Vash leaned down to loudly proclaim next to your ear. Ang God, darting your face up to him you’ve noticed how much in place he looked in here without his coat on: all clad in leather, his toned shoulders and abs are now on full display and you thanked the dim lightning that your lovestruck eyes were not so obvious. Wolfwood has been approached by a cute half-naked boy right at the entrance and with a quick smirk and a wave of his hand he left your bunch to your own devices.

Vash ushered the tree of you to the glassy elevator, which seemed to be taking you to the top floor of the building. “Don’t worry girls, the bartender here is an old friend of mine, so he will keep an eye on your drinks”. As soon as you left the elevator, you’ve been greeted with a view of what seemed to be hundreds of people, moving almost in sink, bodies next to bodies, all smiles, and lewd eyes, grinding against each other, while loud chaotic music has been playing deafening you almost completely. The same unseen before neon-colored lights feeling the room, the smell of sweat and something sweet filling the huge space before you.

While you’ve been walking towards what you assumed was a bar stand, Vash’s hair, and face, and his body has been caressed sensually by what you assumed were dozens of people you’ve passed through. You’ve noticed a few interested faces measuring you too, but with Meryl’s scowls no one dared to approach you. You’ve felt a bit out of your element, but it’s not like you’ve been an actual wallflower, so you were sure that a few drinks and you’ll be somewhere among the dancing crowd, but as of now you carefully treaded next to Milly and Meryl as Vash paved the way with his broad figure. Damn, what a difference made the lack of his usual coat. Uhm. But you’re not here for this. Totally not for this. You definitely wanted to feel yourself after all the craziness that was trailing behind the most wanted man on the planted, and oh you will.

With your newly found resolve, you’ve emptied cocktail after cocktail the bartender so generously offered you, disregarding Meryl’s cautionary words. The knowledge that all people in here were presumably weaponless, bartender was Vash’s acquaintance and the man in question himself has been lurking out there somewhere your inebriated brain has been completely relaxed and empty of any thoughts except the desire to go out there and join the crowd that now felt like a singular moving and breathing organism to you. You briefly felt someone else’s hands clinging to your waist as you moved with the rhythm, eyes close and head held high.

You’ve lost count of how many songs have changed, so you barely noticed Vash pocking your shoulder and opening your eyes, you noticed your friend with two extremely pretty girls leaning onto him as he beamed at you. If his damned striped necktie hadn’t been left somewhere in the pocket of his red jacket now tucked securely in a box on the ground level, you were sure he would be wearing it like a fool he always is at the public gatherings. His cheeks and forehead glistening each time the lightning in the club changed to the lighter one, he leaned closer to you and screamed into your ear: “Seems like someone enjoying herself too much!” pointing with his chin to some guy’s hand caressing your side.

You stood on tiptoes and grabbed Vash’s shoulder to make him lean closer to you: “Oh yeah? And who’s telling me this? You’ve got yourself quite good company” at which he chuckled and said something to the girls, smiling brightly and took your hand, intending to tug you away from the dance floor. As you were leaving, one of the beauties patted your shoulder and poutily said “You go girl, enjoy the night” which you didn’t really get at the time, so just you shrugged, and followed Vash to whatever place he wanted to show you. You happened to stop somewhere on the darker corner further away from the dancefloor, where the music was less loud, and the projector lights barely reached. “Didn’t know you have such a party animal hidden beside your façade” Vash chuckled in your ear, now much more clearly audible. His hot alcohol smelling breathing fanning the side of your neck and ear. You shivered at the sensation, eyes darting anywhere except his pretty face, noticing only kissing couples hidden in the dark corners of the alleyway. “Uhm. So, what did you want to show me here, Vash?” At which he granted you one more of his cat-like smirks. Clubbing is not clubbing if you haven been making out with a stranger somewhere out in the dim light of the back of the dancefloor. Did you know it?” “Hmmm so should I go find him?” you retorted. Vash pouted cutely. “Don’t you think I’ll do for the part?” and moved closer to your face, as he was murmuring this almost into your lips, and oh fuck, now you have no place to hide from his piercing playful gaze. “We can at least try” you responded with the same intonation and it was all it took for him to swiftly turn you so that your back was pressed to the wall and on of his hand caging you, as the other fisted the thin fabric of your tank top, moving you closer to him. Closer and more desperate as his wet and warm lips were enveloping yours, his tongue entering you without meeting any resistance. Closer, until you’ve felt the tent in his leather pants prodding somewhere against your lower stomach which caused you to moan sinfully into his mouth, gaining you the same emotional response. You completely lost himself in his heated kisses and the feeling of almost all of his sweaty body pressing int yours, so once you separated from him, you’ve felt the lack of oxygen inside your system.“Vash…oh God. I need to breathe.” You murmured.

“Good that I know a place” he winked and once again led you by the hand somewhere. You have used to this so much at this point that you would’ve had let him lead you anywhere, even to your demise. Fortunately, it was only an open balcony with a bunch of patrons occupying it here and there. Vash easily placed you upon the balcony railing and you’ve felt that apart your backside occupying it you’ve been completely vulnerable to falling from it, but the hot and strong arms granted you with an overwhelming sense of security. Vash placed his long legs around yours and hugged your waist, pressing his face into your chest, desperately grinding into you as your pelvises were now exactly on the same level. “Oh God..I want you so much, you know that, Mayfly? Can you feel what you’re doing to me?” and he looked up at you, assaulting your lips again and again, using all his arsenal – puffy lips, tongue, his sharp canines, and the burning desire. “Blue curaçao, I see?” he cocked his head, licking his lips and looking at you oh so lewdly.

Utterly spent, Millions Knives collapses onto a bench. The smell of iron floods the town, the last of its inhabitants slain. His chest heaves. He's never exterminated a town so quickly, so furiously. A single, red-coated blade remains, protruding from the smooth, pale skin of his knuckles. Legato runs to his side and kneels at the feet of his master. "Lord Knives, you're exhausted. Please," he reaches up to take Knives' hands in his, "You''ll need your full strength if Vash is to appear." Knives tsks at him, peering down over half-lidded eyes. In disdain or pure fatigue, he can't be sure. Or maybe something deeper, he desperately wishes. Legato wants his devotion to be known, to be admired. He would break the world, he would annihilate thousands, if only for a sliver of hope that perhaps his master would see him too. "What you did was incredible," Legato breathes more than speaks, running his calloused thumb over Knives' slender fingers, just under the blade. "I have never seen so many people filled with terror in their last moments-" "It's not about fear," Knives cuts him off. "It's about extinction. I don't care for their silly little emotions." "No," Legato pulls the bladed hand to himself, "But it brings me great joy." He takes the blade and licks along the edge, acrid metallic blood stinging his taste buds and making his mouth water. He watches his master's face intently, searching for a hint of admiration or adoration, anything to let him know he's valued, even in just the slightest amount, and perhaps then Legato Bluesummers could die happy. Perhaps then his miserable little life would end knowing he was valued by the only being who didn't see him as a thing to be used and discarded. A smile ghosts across Knives' face, his eyes crinkling in the slightest, "You understand better than anyone else on this wretch of a planet," he says, wresting his hand out of Legato's grasp, "that our freedom cannot be achieved while our oppressors still live. We are the same in that way, you and I." He rests his palm against his servant's cheek, smudging dark red across his skin. "And perhaps," Legato's voice quivers with his very soul, "perhaps you could find a place for me by your side, once this is finished." Knives hums with amusement. "Perhaps." He turns his hand and strokes Legato's chin with the blade. "Or perhaps you will die for me. You'd like that too, wouldn't you? Knowing your final breaths were an act of devotion." He presses the sharp edge to Legato's throat, just enough to break the skin. Enough to wet the blade anew. He brings the knife to his own lips and laps at it, his eyes never leaving the golden gaze of his servant. Legato shudders. Knives smirks. He stands and walks around Legato still kneeling, but not before grasping the top of his head. Knives tangles his fingers in dark blue hair and twists, forcing Legato's gaze up and around. "Ever the faithful servant with an understanding for the plight of plants. Such a shame that Vash can't be more like you," Knives croons, releasing his servant's hair and patting it down smooth. He crouches over a nearby citizen, dips his blade into the pool of blood gathering underneath, and approaches the town square's centerpiece. He paints his name onto the rock. "Let us show him that we were here. That his efforts to save humanity is no match for us."

Disability Showdown Full Bracket

Alright! No more mystery, we've got our list for the tournament!

For people new to this tournament, how this works is this: We narrowed our character list down from about 600 to 131 (it was gonna be 128 but we had three ties, so those have been reworked into three-character polls). The top 64 have been seeded into the bracket by number of nominations. The bottom 67 however, all got roughly the same amount of nominations, so those have been assigned places via random number generator, to remove any bias that I the poll runner may have about which characters I want to succeed

(I am so sorry if your obscure blorbo ends up against a super popular kid in round one, that's unfortunately the luck of the draw here, but I am keeping a record of characters that lose but whose fans fight the hardest for them, and we may do something with those kids later, so it's still worth campaigning for your faves!)

I will make an image for the bracket once we get past the first round or two, but right now I have no idea how to make a visual bracket containing 131 characters, upload it to tumblr, and still have it be at all useful

love love love your take on vash's physical characterizations of being a plant. i like to think under the sun his skin turns red in patches or maybe another color the way plants irl do when they are kept in good lighting. also that his pupils dilate more like cats do, ranging from very wide to super small. lastly, in much the same way you talk about him buzzing like a generator at times, i like to think he purrs in a way thats like a cross between the usual type and that generator rumbling. suffice to say: is there anything about vash Being a plant that you haven't gotten to input into your fics/want to share? you have my favorite characterization of him so id love to hear. 💕& ☮️ !!

This is such a cool ask thank you sm!! And I probably can’t think of everything but here’s just a list of random headcanons I have abt vash and him being a plant, some I’ve added into fics already and some I haven’t. 🌸🤍

- Vash has eidetic memory. There’s a lot of pain to be had in Vash remembering everything, and it being out of his control. I’m working on a fic that focuses a bit on this and I’ll post it… one day.

- Vash’s moods being able to influence the electricity/power. I love this hc so much it’s very self-indulgent. And��� blowing the power under certain circumstances.

- Vash purrs, in both a kitty type of way and in a “he’s an electrical outlet” kind of buzzing way. In addition to this, his skin always kinda feels like the thrum of energy, like a radiator.

- He has fangs. Obviously.

- He runs insanely hot and is always warm to the touch. If it drops it means very very bad things.

- He doesn’t sweat unless he’s really sick. Also he doesn’t often smell bad bc of that, and smells flowery/earthy. (This is contradicted in canon but shshshshs)

- Stamp verse vash wears his glasses because the markings in his eyes are visible under some lightings. So he hides them.

- Vash isn’t effected by the sun/doesn’t become sunburned. So his skin is very soft and healthy where it isn’t scarred.

- Vash’s feathers popping out whenever he experiences extreme emotions/adrenaline when he’s trying to protect himself or others.

- Vash can see perfectly in the dark.

- Vash can see farther than a human, as well as having advanced and sensitive hearing/smell.

I’m sure there’s more, but I feel like this is some basic stuff I include most times when I write about him, whether it’s a focus or implied. 🫶🌸

I'm usually v shy so i rarely talk unless poked but I'm glad the outfit swap thing has resonated with you because i swear that vash is. Haunting me. Makes me understand why people self-ship i literally cannot. Boo boo the fool made up a guy to be unwell about.

Anyways also wanted to. Tell you that your mini wolfwoods are the forbidden delight and a special treat always, they are literally so. I want to squish them like stress toys. 100% stampede wolfwood is a kitty cat.

In general i really love your art style, it looks so round and dynamic. Absolutely floored by how you can make shapes pop with minimal amount of lines............ Learning each day how to draw from the masters. Thank you for posting such hardcore posts they replenish my stamina in these trying times.

Idk this make sense but i cannot stress enough how I lovee the way you draw anatomy. like bodies. they look solid. there is matter atoms in that. nice. I love the way you draw faces so much too gawdd those expressions using simple strokes, and they're super distinctive too!! like i can immediately recognise which is who, but wait have i talked about how i love your expressions? i actually have a tab open at your silly drunk vash THE WAY HE STARES IT'S SO. OURGH.

and your inking?? immaculate, stunning, show-stopping, out of this world, I cant stop observing how you built the shapes just with the use of contrast shading, your lines are so clean and confident! efficient! super shaped!

Trigun Manga Reaction

Now unto Volume 1 - Chapter 4

Meryl sums up Vash so well. He gave the bounty to the people that hunted him.

AND he also gave food to Kuroneko.

I must say tho. How did they get salmon? I get that the Plants can produce them. But... how? Do the Plants produce them as raw whole fish? Live fish? Neatly sliced fish? The production of water and energy is really easy to imagine. However, specific stuff like this bewilders me.

Also, I like the '98 a little better because the townspeople are more involved - showing remorse and gratitude at the same time.

Another incredible double spread. I like the massive scale of the ship is drawn. But I'm distracted by Meryl and Milly's hands here. It's so funny how to communicates so much fury and incredulity.

So, the tracking device stuff happened way earlier?!

It's interesting how these sequence of events were re-arranged in the '98 with minor changes. Yet even with that, the "spirit" of the characters stayed true.

Meryl and Milly are competent with their jobs. It's just that Vash is a bit "very much" and they constantly have to adapt to the string of unfortunate events shenanigans he always inevitably get involved in.

LMAO!!! This never gets old. But why is the other kitty not here too?! I guess the reddish brown one is a'98 original.

Another interesting double page that makes me wonder... How does it look in a book format? Wouldn't there be some warping in the middle that may affect the full picture?

I'm curious because I'm reading the Overhaul version atm since the official English release, apparently, is not exactly stellar with the translation (Hopefully not John Werry level). Anyway, the pages are cleaned up so the art is great for the double page spreads.

Oh. I like the composition of the info dump in here. Have the travel route arrow on the map connect Text Box 1 to Text Box 2 is quite clever.

Wasn't able to say it before but Tristamp Tonis broke my heart. Compared to his '98 and manga counterparts... It's not fair! Plus his ruined relationship with Vash...

AHAHAHAHA. So silly! Poor Vash.

After coming off from Tristamp, seeing this in the manga and remembering how it was in '98... holy fucking shit Tristamp Vash had it worse. So so much worse. That poor iteration of Vash didn't even got the chance to breathe or be appreciated like this by the people on screen. It was just one long trauma conga line.

Or maybe it was a problem in pacing? Tristamp went hard and fast with its story pace (practically JJK style) unlike here in the manga and most definitely unlike '98. The latest Trigun adaptation left no room for filler-y stuff like this... I wish they did tho.

But augh... thinking about it, maybe it's for the best that Studio Orange didn't because Roberto would definitely feel like a Milly replacement and earn more fan ire (which would totally be understandable imho). The production will be tougher too since it means more animation to do especially "anime physics" character acting which, as I mentioned before, is rough to do in 3D.

However... Vash deserved a lot more comfort in Tristamp not to mention even more character dynamics between Meryl, Wolfwood, and Roberto. Sigh. It's the JJK Pacing Dilemma all over again for me.

I remember this too from '98! And it is still funny. I can still hear the VA's "drunk" voice.

AHAhaha...Ha... One of the things that flew over my head as a kid and then finally understood as an adult.

But I wonder if there are ulterior motives here too? Like trying to tie Vash down more to the town - perhaps a good night with a woman would make him hesitate to leave? Not that he ever would as obviously seen in the panel and the next.

Idk. '98 faithfully animated this but the manga seems funnier to me. Can't explain why.

The kid has more spunk in his intro on '98 tho with his backtalking to Vash.

So, in the OG JP Dub it was implied. Maybe. Who knows if the translation was accurate?! However, in the ENG Dub it was not. Just a general "He always trying to get at me!"... I always thought that he just meant that the "Uncle" is physically abusive and not sexual.

OKAY! Now it makes sense why this kid was worried that his story was "too impossible" to be believed. He straight up used the term "sodomy". Children suffering from such threats or abuse won't usually say it so formally (?) like that (or as I believe but I'm not knowledgeable on this). It was a red flag of a lie. Hmm... small change but quite an impact.

Huh... If you ask me, I think dish duty is much better than the cashier. Customer service gives me the hives.

However, '98 I think made the right call to have Meryl and Milly work the cashier. It suits them especially since they used it as an opportunity to bully Vash!
