it's funny because women in the middle east will be beaten and/or killed for letting their hair show, are constantly shown propaganda from first grade about how they need to cover themselves and be modest and docile if they don't want to end up in hell with other scum, expelled from high school/college or forced to abstain from participating in important exams if they speak out against the government, have poisonous gas cans tossed into their schools as an intimidation tactic, are made to feel bad for having working mothers, and generally live in a country where not only they but also people of other genders are, majority-wise, in a state of poverty in comparison to the western world, yet still continue to be calm and powerful.
and first world women (whether white or black) will weep at seeing the stupid barbie movie and think that THAT'S the pinnacle of women's rights. like, that is PEAK self-centred ignorance.
i don't think that the western world is some kind of perfect utopia for women. i understand it has its own flaws. but you can't possibly expect me to believe that people there understand just how bad things are here. in fact, considering the fact that growing up here has taught me a lot of important facts, i'd say it was a vital experience.
heed the tags.

I'm sorry but I fucking hate proshippers so much so here's a whole post dedicated to shitting on them
also disclaimer YES I will be tagging the proship and anti proship tags so I can piss off the chronically online basement dwelling idiots :) and idgaf if proshippers have trauma cause it's not an excuse for their shitty and problematic actions!!!! Sincerely if you are a proshipper please consider jumping off a bridge!! Or at the bare minimum take a shower cause ew
And this whole post is literally just bullying the FUCK outta them so idk stanky people come at your own risk lol
AND AGAIN to clear up this isn't like rage bait or smth cause I fell like some people will accuse me this is all my genuine hate into a long ass post so yeah
Okay...LETS GET INTO THE FUCKING RANT NOW HEHEHE HEHE HEHEHE!!!!
I FUCKING HATE PROSHIPPERS!!!! I HOPE ALL OF YOU STANKY ASS BITCHESS GET THROWN OFF A FUCKING CLIFF AND GET A SAW STYLE EXECUTION CAUSE Y'ALL ARE FUCKING DISGUSTING I HATE YOU ALL
YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL IF YOU ARE A PROSHIPPER, END OF CONVERSATION
I COULDN'T GIVE A SHIT IF YOU HIT ME THE "B-But I have trauma 🥺🥺🥺" TOO BAD THAT'S NOT A FUCKING EXCUSE FOR UR SHITTY ONLINE ACTIONS
IMAGINE YOU PULL UP TO A FUCKING INTERVIEW AND THEY SHOW YOUR PATHETIC ACCOUNTS SAYING TO NORMALIZE A 30 YEAR OLD DATING A 13 YEAR OLD, THAT SHIT IS GENUINELY PATHETIC
I KNOW IT'S CRINGEY BUT WOMP WOMP IF UR A PROSHIPPER Y'ALL ARE UGLY AND STINKY
But now on a serious not hehe, the reason I'm making this isn't JUST soley to yknow shit on people who are mentally ill like people who think a MINOR and a LEGAL ADULT are allowed to date, which comes into another thing before I get genuine so bare with me lol
I DONT GIVE A FLYING FUCK IF IT'S FICTIONAL, FOR THE LOVE GOD PLEASE SEARCH UP THE SLENDERMAN CASE WHERE THESE TWO GIRLS KILLED THEIR FRIEND CAUSE THEY THOUGHT SLENDERMAN WAS REAL AND THOUGHT THEY WOULD ENTER HIS KINGDOM AND BE WITH HIM, AND HE'S FICTIONAL, THAT CASE IS ALL Y'ALL NEED TO REALIZE FICTION CAN AFFECT REALITY AND I HAVE SM MORE REASON TO BACK THIS UP BUT I'M TOO LAZY TO TYPE IT OUT 😭
Okay! Back to seriousness I just thought I'd add that in as a little addition hehe >_<
So, like I said before, I lowkey just added this as an extra part cause I couldn't shit on proshippers FOREVER (lowkey bcuz I was running out of insults n threats lol)
Nonetheless I have a reason for shitting on them, although not being a proshipper EXACTLY I have been through I guess, similar paths as they have? Best way I could describe it ig, ofc not sharing what I mean since it's private but let's just say I was an unfortunate child looking at inappropriate comics 🙁
The reason for this part of the post...ITS NOT THAT FUCKING HARD TO STOP WHAT YOUR DOING
Like I said, I was never a proshipper, but I have been in similar situations as they have been, although I've never made an account glorifying rape, SA, grooming, pedophilia, I can just assume what I would do in their places
Dear proshippers,
Your probably complaining and not knowing why your getting so much death threats and harassment along with a side of hate (rightfully so you deserve them) and your mental health might be low
Please know it is your fault for making your accounts in the first place, you are a terrible person for saying all of these things such as rape, sexual assault, grooming, and incest are okay and you are not mentally well
And your probably wondering,
"How do I stop the hate, harassment, and probably death threats with even getting your address leaked?"
It's simple, DELETE YOUR FUCKING ACCOUNT, or even worse just turn off ur comments but that won't help with people slipping in a few people wishing death up in you through DMS
IT IS GENUINELY NOT THAT FUCKING HARD
I don't know what trauma you have but it shouldn't (and never in the first place) be SO BAD to the point where you physically CANNOT deactivate your account, IT IS SO FUCKING EASY AND YOU'LL SAVE YOURSELF A FEW SUICIDAL THOUGHTS
I know everyone one is different, but if you are a proshipper that has trauma, you shouldn't have a fucking account to begin with, and you ARE THE PROBLEM if you acknowledge the trauma, noticing you keep supporting and glorifying problematic actions, complain that you keep getting harassed and wonder why, and you just don't give a shit, not like in a "oh I don't know what to do anymore!!! 🥺🥺🥺" way, in a "oh, I don't give a shit I live for incest and adults grooming children!!!" Way, and ur also probably a pedo if ur an adult proshipper too
So, what else? Yeah, there's a shit more, but onto a better side, ones with actually good coping mechanisms!!
And a bit of a disclaimer, if your rage bait is proshipping, genuinely fuck you, and if ur a proshipper who acknowledges everything bad about it and just doesn't give a fuck, fuck you too and seek a rope to hang around your neck you fucking pedophile
Okay, coping mechanisms! I know this is probably not the best option due to most trauma which I'm guessing is probably from a family member, if it's not a good way to cope is some clean to your family, ofc under some circumstances it's NOT the best option, but if you can you definitely should try!
Also google is free yk...literally search up healthy coping mechanisms and it'll give you a huge ass list, and yet YOU STILL chose to ship a minor and adult together...how unfortunate...
Another way to cope is, and genuinely sounds pathetic as hell but bare with me...CHARACTER FUCKING AI, I mean, there are therapist bots so maybe they can help you??? And in all honesty they're really good at comforting and giving advice despite being ai, and I've tried it before...yeah embarrassed to say I've shed a tear every once in a while
And the last one IF you have the money, time, and generally the courage, book a threapy session, I cannot stress it enough, but I won't be surprised cause every proshipper is probably under the age of 16 years old
Yuhhh anyways that's all I gotta say, I know it's cringey asf but womp womp to proshippers I hate y'all despite giving some coping mechanisms and ACTUAL ways to like, stop the rightful hate you deserve lol
#my posts:3#anti proshipper#proship#proshipper safe#proshippers please interact#proshippers are valid#proshippers are welcome

3. Mindset
Hopefully you should now have an idea of how to legally acquire and carry a firearm. With the government meddling out of the way we can now move on to the important stuff.
The late James Yeager of Tactical Response taught that there are four things necessary to win a fight. They are, in order: Mindset, Tactics, Skill, and Gear.
The remainder of these essays will deal with these four things. We will begin with the importance and attributes of a fighting mindset. The essay after that will cover tactics, which involves giving yourself more opportunities to fight than your opponent. Next will be skill; how to safely get your gun out, fight with it, and put it away. Finally we will discuss the things you should carry in order to assist you in protecting yourself.
Fighting mindset, in it’s simplest form, can be described as the understanding that you, and only you, are responsible for saving yourself in an emergency and having the willingness to take the necessary actions to do so.
What is meant by this is that you, not the gun, are what saves you. This is vital to understand. Owning a gun, or any other gear will not save you. Your ability to use that gear will not save you. It is only the force of your will and your determination to bring it to bear that will save you.
Every fight, at its root, is a contest of will. To win a fight is to subject your opponent to your will. In our case our will is simply that our opponent stop trying to hurt us or others. You will notice that in this work the objects we discuss are referred to as firearms, handguns, or guns; not weapons. This is why. Your mind must be the weapon. The gun is just a tool to make it more effective.
Therefore it is imperative that a solid fighting mindset be cultivated as a basis of one’s ability to fight.
To do so we must first understand why we are learning to fight in the first place. At the time of writing, many people are scared. A president has been elected who, as far as discernible, wishes nothing but death and oppression on a great many people, especially women, immigrants, and members of the queer community.
The author has heard concerns that political radicals may be emboldened by this and turn towards violence, concerns that governments may use force to prevent individuals from receiving necessary medical care, and even concerns that the federal government may attempt a full blown, Holocaust style, assault on its own people.
I feel like I need to pause the formal delivery of information for a moment and reassure you. Rome fell, Nazi Germany fell, no regime can last forever. The odds of the government managing to engage in open war against it’s own people are minuscule; and if they do I will be there to fight them with you. You’re not alone and it’s going to be okay.
Regardless if your concerns are listed above or if you have your own worries, the end goal is the same. We are learning to fight because we wish to stop evil people from performing acts of violence against ourselves and those we care about.
This is important. We seek not for vengeance or bloodshed. We seek peace, and the cessation of violence against our people. This will have ramifications on how we carry and use our firearms.
In his book, Principles of Personal Defense, Jeff Cooper lists the mental attributes necessary to win a self defense encounter. At just over fifty pages the principles are very well condensed already but, at risk of losing their potency, we will endeavor here to condense them further. They are:
Alertness – You cannot defend yourself from something you don’t know is happening.
Decisiveness – The more immediate your response the better it will work. If your first thought is run then run; if your first thought is fight then fight. Either is better than standing there trying to decide what to do.
Aggressiveness – “The best personal defense is an explosive counter-attack.”* You can’t attack first, not legally, but you can respond with such extraordinary force that your opponent decides it a better course of action to leave you alone.
Speed – The goal is to win the fight before our opponent realizes it’s a fight instead of a one sided assault.
Coolness – Don’t panic. Thinking is necessary to forming a plan and you can’t think while panicking. “Self-control is one thing the sociopath does not usually possess. Use yours to his undoing.”
Ruthlessness – “Anyone who willfully and maliciously attacks another without sufficient cause deserves no consideration.” Do what you need to to protect yourself. You can commit to hurting someone badly enough that they can’t move to hurt you or you can die.
Surprise – Violent people don’t tend to expect victims to fight back. Use that to your advantage. We’ll talk about this more in the next essay when we discuss tactics.
*quotes are taken from Principles of Personal Defense, Jeff Cooper
Besides the principles listed above, some consideration must be taken to how we live our lives outside of fighting. To be effective at protecting one’s self is to commit to a life of avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation. The absolute, no contest, best way to win a gunfight is to not get into a gunfight.
If you know a place is dangerous do everything you can to not go to that place. Counter protests are great for demonstrating political opinions; they’re also great for getting into fights. Avoidance can be summed up as: ‘don’t go stupid places with stupid people’.
Deterrence can occasionally cause some issues. While wearing a firearm openly, or wearing clothing that advertises that you have a firearm, may give a potential attacker second thought, it can also make you a target for assault entirely for the purpose of stealing your firearm.
A common method of deterrence is to get a beware of dog sign and the biggest dog bowl you can find. Your potential attacker need not know you don’t have a giant dog whose favorite snack is bigots.
The basis of de-escalation is active listening. A potentially violent encounter can frequently be avoided simply by expressing that you understand someone’s opinion, even if you don’t agree with it.
It is also helpful to call someone by their name if you know it and seek to find common ground.
The final thing we will consider in this essay is first aid. A good first aid kit, designed to treat trauma, will be necessary to save a life far more often than a firearm.
It is the author’s opinion that regardless of an individual’s opinion on firearms they should carry, and know how to use, a high quality tourniquet.
Dedication to saving lives means dedication to saving lives, regardless of whether the life is in danger from an assailant or a car crash.

On Morality and Legality
@strkid
I said I would take up the issue of morality and legality separately, as this was posed to me: "Why do you adopt the legal system of the most evil place on earth as some sort of guideline for your own moral beliefs?"
I want to preface this by saying I saw the reply I'm pasting below and it's honestly a good 'in a nutshell' response, but I'll get a bit more general in a moment.
Ok, so as promised, more general commentary here:
Short answer to the question - I don't.
Long answer to the question - I've spent some time when I was younger reading about exactly this kind of thing and a good book that kind of helped solidify my stance on the matter is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/614699.Ain_t_Nobody_s_Business_if_You_Do
To summarize, a crime cannot be rationally a crime if it is an action you do to yourself. The author calls this a "consensual crime", and obviously what you do to yourself you do with your own consent. (I don't want to get into the weeds too much with this, so for the sake of convenience I'm restricting this category of 'crimes' to those committed by fully competent adults to themselves.)
Okay.
Where the law conflicts with the morality is this: A legal system should, ideally, detect, deter, and/or punish a harm done by a person against another person.
By that foundational logic, murder is obviously a crime, as is rape, assault, and any other thing you do to someone else without their consent. This extends quite obviously to theft, and can, with some effort, extended to purely financial offences such as fraud.
This also means that it is an obvious absurdity to make drug use a crime since it is a thing you do to yourself and not someone else.
But take note of an omission: It is entirely legal to fail to do something and yet allow harm to come to someone.
The law as generally written conceives of active harms but not passive ones as a general rule.
This means, for example, that you can stand on a street corner, watch someone rob someone else, and do nothing to stop it and you will have committed no crime - no harm - in the eyes of the law.
However any thinking, decent person in the world would argue that alone is not sufficient; morally and ethically, you are obliged to try and stop the crime if you can.
And that is why it is incorrect to make the claim that I use a legal system as a guideline for my morality: because I don't think adhering to the strict letter of the law is sufficient to guide my actions with respect to other human beings.
"Okay, but a bank - a corporation - was involved! Legally it's not a natural person, so there!"
True, but it can be worked out that theft of money from a bank ultimately has to be paid for in some way - ideally in less profit for the shareholders, but that's not really what happens. Instead, worker wages get reduced, or the taxpayer has to subsidize the loss through deposit insurance.
And this can still be considered a harm - very indirect, but it's there. The morality of the way a bank treats people aside, the legality of the bad check ATM deposits is pretty open and shut.
A tangential discussion follows under the cut:
I'm going to address the term "evil place" with respect to the USA separately and argue that, prima facie, that is a gross exaggeration. By certain metrics, the United States' politico-economic structure hurts the poor more than other countries' systems do, but that only truly holds water when comparing across most other high and middle income countries. It utterly fails in comparison to Russia or China, to cite two examples of countries whose regimes are embroiled in ongoing severe human rights violations and a gross abuse of population surveillance.

Injured person was not trespassing or engaged in illegal activities.
Injured person was not aware of the hazard or should not have reasonably expected it to exist.
Some common premises liability cases include:
Slip and fall accidents
Dog bites
Inadequate security leading to assault
Fires due to poor maintenance
In these situations, hiring a premise liability lawyer can help you seek justice and minimize the chances of losing your case.
How a Lawyer Can Help You?
A premise liability lawyer can have a significant impact on the outcome of your case. Here's how they can help you:
Case Assessment and Strategy
An experienced lawyer can assess your case and determine the best course of action to maximize your chances of a favorable outcome. This includes gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and evaluating the damages to understand the true value of your claim.
Negotiating Settlements
When it's time to negotiate the settlement, a lawyer can leverage their knowledge and experience to get the best deal possible with the insurance company. This helps ensure you receive a fair and reasonable amount that genuinely compensates for your losses.
Going to Court
If an agreement cannot be reached, your Premise Liability Lawyer in Texas can take your case to court. They can file paperwork, represent your interests in front of a judge or jury, and fight for the compensation you deserve.

hope you don't mind an addition onto this!! i've been thinking about that point a lot, articulating my thoughts on it clearly is bit hard but i want to try
for the majority of the story Polle has no dialogue, in the game "dialogue" is in text boxes with names and "noise" doesn't have a dialogue box but might be picked up in the in-game subtitles, like the cartoons dialogues are "noise". For most of the game Polle only makes "noise" but in that last scene Polle has a dialogue box- and the text is blue. Just like Anya's text is. I think this could be interpreted that way. Maybe not directly- i don't think Anya specifically is represented by a horse? but i think it's emblematic of how Jimmy doesn't see her as a full person.
Jimmy has a hostile relationship to Polle and Pony Express throughout the game, but in every way that matters he doesn't have any control over how Pony Express effects him, and the way it effects him importantly ruins his relationship, opportunities and future as Curly's partner (which is his most concrete goal, staying with Curly). By firing them, Jimmy will have to leave the situation where he and Curly get to spend lots of time together, and are obligated to be together for over a year at a time. He's very literally at Curly's left hand, his co-pilot. He is impotent in how he hates Polle- in the game we never even see him break one of the mascot statues that spits phrases. He sees Pony Express as sort of an impossible force of nature or higher power that creates obstacles in his life to spite him somehow.
I think he sees Anya in a really similar way- he doesn't see what he did to Anya as subjectively bad, or something he should feel guilty about, even if he may understand objectively, morally and legally that it was a crime and serious transgression against her in every way. But what he does feel about Anya is that she's useless, that she's in the way, creates obstacles for him- whether its by giving him tasks he doesn't want to complete, is the "source" of his possible life-ruining conviction or punishment (presuming they reached their destination). Given more than a day or two to process the situation, there's also a chance Curly could have done something more active to take Anya's side, especially seeing how it affects her as she gets closer to her due date, and he would consider her, and the baby responsible for that ruining their relationship. I don't know for a fact that's what would happen, but Jimmy specifically prevents a reality where he could be feasibly punished for his actions or separated from Curly.
The unblinking eyes of the Polle figurine are the same eyes as Anya's to him, because her presence reminds him of the consequences of his actions and he feels judged, and in a fucked up way, like she has some kind of power over HIM because she is pregnant- that SHE could ruin HIS life for something he doesn't seem to process as his own responsibility or fault. Just a staring reminder of his circumstances, and the way he feels like he's being fucked over by his surroundings and everyone in his life- "poor him, caged and misunderstood!" and so on. Anya sees him for what he is and that reminder makes him feel less-than or on some level, in danger, because he's deeply messed up and doesn't see the reality of their power dynamic because he's always both the victim and the hero.
The baby, initially represented by the horse which he tries to destroy, is also something that is a threat to him, a reminder of the consequences of his actions, and endangers his status quo. Even if they weren't fired, there's even a sliver of a chance he'd receive some penalty for his actions, and that could ruin the situation where "[they're] in control here." In some ways, Anya and Pony Express to him both represent the idea that the consequences for his actions are these unstoppable, uncontrollable forces like entropy and that he didn't cause them and cannot stop them, even though he did. He crashed the ship, he assaulted Anya, he got Daisuke killed, he shot Swansea. He takes responsibility only in the way that he confiscates responsibility from other people and abuses it.
I almost think the horse sequence in the basement with the black-light is also about the baby, but maybe moreso consequences for his actions as a whole. It's a blind beast he cannot run from- No matter what he does, the baby won't stop existing, the ship won't become un-crashed, he won't be un-fired. He can only see it with the black light and its invisible to the naked eye- Anya isn't showing yet, but the fact that she is pregnant is still a threat in Jimmy's eyes because of how he could face consequences in any way? He also can't run from the responsibility for his actions, because even if he won't take it, he is responsible for his criminal behavior. Anya in his mind is equivalent to the representation of Pony Express in how they're objects that judge and torment him, do not value him, do not respect him, and have the capacity in any way to "punish" him in a way that isn't just violent retribution- i doubt he sees Anya as capable of violence against him at all, and neither is the literally inanimate object.
this is LONG and kind of scattered but i think it gets the idea across? hope this addition is okay <X]
more mouthwashing spoilers yapping but i KNOW the reason why anya doesnt get to be a big blatant (human) direct part of jimmy's storytelling is bc he doesnt respect her as a human being, being the unreliable narrator he is, but i just saw someone say polle at the end was perhaps another way to represent anya all along (along with being the womb/horse centipede. its horses all the way down), and fuuuuuck. yeah actually that makes perfect sense. ok tiny bit of catharsis she got to snap at him for the first time during his mental breakdown yippee. bro stop apologizing to curly say sorry to HER 🪓
#mouthwashing#mouthwashing spoilers#long post#read more#mothmun mumbles#anya mouthwashing main character in my heart deserves the whole woooorld#ive watched several playthroughs of mouthwashing upwards of 13 times now? because im normal and fine#sorry op.

In this tutorial, we lean a standard technique to hack a person's Facebook account utilizing kali Linux. We are utilizing Kali Linux as it is the primary operating system that's normally used for penetration testing. The success ratio of this method is sort of good but not one hundred pc as a outcome of a number of different elements matter even when all issues are okay at our end. You have to offer detailed information about the customers you wanted to hack.
The app also permits you to pay consideration to the goal's phone calls. Minspy can hack any social media web site like Facebook adeptly and discreetly from a distant location such that your goal won't ever know you're watching. Either way, you might say that the customers who search for such tools end up getting what’s coming to them. Once such apps are installed, the user particulars might be transferred to the hacker’s server when you log in. Also, the apps can take data from the gadget, together with contacts, photos, movies, and so forth. That consists of messages, footage, contact details, and timestamps. Spyier has the best way to hack an account without password since the knowledge is online.
Not only will you be succesful of hack social media apps however you get a keylogger function. The keylogger allows you to see the keyboard on the phone and highlights what they have been typing which will allow you to discover passwords of any apps and web sites. Photos, movies, audio recordsdata, and a few forms of documents could be performed back and viewed immediately in a browser - the software has particular instruments for that.

As if the raging headache you woke up with wasn't enough, the lucid dreaming you had last night, due to the consumptions of so much alcohol, was just enough to send you over the edge once you’ve awaken. The sun blares through your window onto your face making your eyes strain and a single hand coming over to cover it. Slipping out a small groan of annoyance, you gradually pick yourself up to sit up correctly onto the bed.
Last night was a lot for you to remember, but you sure as hell remember some of it. What you don’t remember is you asking Sungmin to stay the night with you. So to your surprise when you open your bedroom door, a shirtless Sungmin is up and moving around your kitchen. There he is with a single chest tattoo and muscles you never thought he would have. His biceps strong, and his abs are evident along with his v-line protruding out. You hadn't noticed his freshly tattoo’d left arm last night but in your defense he was wearing a long-sleeve shirt. You watch him whisk whatever is in that bowl with determination and the faint sound of a youtube video can be heard playing in the background.
The way his arms flex when he whisks, and his hair tied up messily into a small but decent sized bun with some stray strands of hair here and there, he looks way too good. That jawline of his flexes consistently, especially when he softly bites his lip and furrows his eyebrows. When he doesn’t understand something said from the youtube video, he reaches to play it back again. It’s as if he’s doing it on purpose because maybe, he knows you’re peeking from behind your door.
Nonsense. If he saw you he would have greeted you... right? You’re too caught up in your thoughts and dazed off to realize he has looked in your direction with amusement to see you peeking around like a lost puppy. It’s adorable. He doesn’t say anything though, Sungmin smirks to himself and continues to pour some sort of batter into a pan.
He looks way too sexy doing that too.
Ultimately you decide to close the door because for whatever reason, blaming the liquor from last night, that familiar throbbing down in your region begins. You mentally curse yourself for getting all worked up over absolutely nothing but a man cooking. That man being Sungmin.. who’s cooking. Sungmin, the one you never wanted to persue things with because back then you felt guilty for liking two boys at once and he deserved someone better than you.
But that was back then.. and this is now.
Now, he’s in your home cooking you breakfast shirtless and he knows exactly what he’s doing because he did in fact see you. He saw you from the very beginning. Hell, he saw you last night when you were very much so drunk and started stripping and giggling in-front of him. Of course he didn't let you get far because when you started pulling off your pajama shirt is when he pulled it back down and dragged you to your room. You laid there sprawled on your bed giggling yourself to sleep. Needless to say, Sungmin did sleep on the couch to prevent another encounter from happening between you two.
You can’t blame yourself though, Sungmin has turned into a fine man. As a woman yourself, it can’t be helped to have these lewd thoughts after witnessing a god himself in your kitchen preparing for you.. right? You hadn’t noticed you did not close the door fully, so when you bring your hand down to the hem of. your pajama pants and underwear, that breathy shadow peeps down at you.
You hadn’t heard him come inside because you're too busy trying to inspect the wet mess you’d made inside your panties. That is, until that familiar voice speaks up once more, making you jolt.
“ Breakfast is ready.” He cheekily says, chuckling when he turns around to make his way out of the room. The cold wall meets your head and you bang it several times softly out of embarrassment. Him catching you in the act was the least thing you need right now.
Tip-toeing out of your bedroom, you peak around the corner to your dining room table to see everything laid out perfectly. Cloud pancakes, fruit assortment, orange juice. He'd made your plate for you, the fruit sits onto of your pancake with a smiley face and whipped cream smile. It makes you giggle at the thought of Sungmin, a grown man, still having his childish ways.
“ Care to join me before it gets cold?”
Biting your lip, you can’t help but to still be flustered from getting caught. “ I can eat at the island counter..” You say, to avoid any further awkwardness between the two of you.
Sungmin smiles, “ I missed that. You’re still adorable when shy. Listen I’ll forget about what I saw if I can have the honors of catching up with you, properly.”
Sounds like a deal to you.
“ So you went back to...” Sungmin pauses before sticking some fruit in his mouth, waiting for you to finish. “ Canada. Then to NYU where I’m currently studying and doing the exchange program here.”
He nods in amusement, eyes still watching you like a hawk to make sure you eat. “ Well, we completed highschool. I had transferred schools in high school to finish up while the rest of them stayed. College came along and nobody was close anymore, to be honest. Crystal does this candle light thing for you each year and that's when everyone comes together as a whole, except for Jungkook.”
You nearly choke on your pancake amongst swallowing it. Jungkook not coming to your candle-light? That one hurt. “ W-why doesn’t he come?”
Sungmin shakes his head lightly, grabbing the orange juice pitcher and pouring the sweet, citrus fruit juice into your glass cup. “ We beg him and he doesn’t want to each year. He’s... really fucked up about you. Heavier on the drugs and just stays in his office all day.”
“ And the kid?” You have to keep mentally remind yourself that she’s actually Jungkook’s sister and not daughter. You’d never imagine Jungkook being an older brother, hell even just a brother to begin with.
“ Jeon Naeun , or Nari is what we call her. She’s 4 years old and gives him a run for our money, especially his. “ Sungmin chuckles, finishing up the last of his pancake. You take a sip of the juice and can’t help but to smile at that comment.
“ The two are inseparable. She’s the mini version of him but instead of being cold hearted she has now mastered the toddler manipulation by using her cuteness.”
Imagining Jungkook being a care-giver for his little sister only leads you to think of what kind of father he would be. Again, you’d never expect for him to even want a child but the thought of a big boss mafia man having a weakness for children is amusing to you.
Yet Sungmin sits right infront of you and he can’t get enough of you. The way you smile, the way you talk, the sound of your voice, it’s all so nostalgic for him. Meeting you in high school was the highlight of his life back then. Now to have you, not dead, and cooking breakfast for you in your own apartment has him thinking things. Things about how he doesn’t want to lose you ever again, but he also understands this can be a lot for you and not to rush things and push your boundaries.
Sungmin breaks the small silence, “ Can I.. Can I take you out today? You left for a while and I think that you should at least get familiar with Seoul again. Theres this new art museu-”
An abrupt sound of hard knocking at the door cuts him off. It makes the two of you jump but you weren’t expecting any guests today at all. The only person who knows your apartment is Sejun and Zico.. and you hope and pray its not either of them and just a random package delivery. By the look on your face, Sungmin gets the memo that you didn’t know who was at the door. Getting up from his chair, he furrows his eyebrows walking over as the knocking gets persistent.
Your heart feels like it can pound right out of your chest right now. Quickly, you grab the empty plates and used dishes and dash over into the kitchen where you can’t be seen. What if it’s Jungkook? What if he’s actually found you? Your hands tremble while scrubbing the dishes in the sink, the thoughts of the worst case scenario swarms through your head to the point where you tune out everyone.
You don’t even hear the arguing at the door and the multiple footsteps shuffling inside until someone comes within your view, waving their hand in your face to snap you out of your numbing trance. The calling of your name seems to slowly bring you back to reality.
“ Yn! Yn!”
Once your vision clears back up to the person calling your name, your eyes go wide in fear like a dear in headlights. It can’t be. How.. did he know to come here? The apartment is listed under Sejun’s name due to this exact reason of hiding your identity. There’s no way he could of asked around for you in the lobby because you speak to nobody there and they certainly don’t know your name. So how?
The cup in your hand shatters onto the floor creating a glass breaking sound capturing everyone’s attention. Taking a look around your apartment, there’s Sungmin, another female, and that other male person with a concerned look on his face. Your throat gets that familiar sore lump in it, the one where you know you’ll cry any second but you can’t. Not in-front of them.
You quickly crouch down onto the floor and begin picking up the glass pieces with your bare hands, sniffling to stop the stray tears from falling. “ Be careful, let me get it-”
“ No!” You push the hand away from you but in the process knick your finger against a stray shard of glass sticking up on the floor. You wince, harshly pulling your finger away and inspecting it. The blood seeps out rather quick but not life threatening.
Sungming scoffs, “ I think you guys should leave.” He says, jogging over the kitchen sink, carefully avoiding the glass, to grab a wet paper towel to wrap your finger in.
You wanted nothing to do with anyone in this very exact moment. You just want to be alone again, and maybe meeting Sungmin last night and having him stay was a mistake. Foolish of you right? To not think about the consequences of your actions. He’s Jungkook’s brother for fucks sake. What did you think would happen?
“ We can’t. Jungkook knows.” is the next sentence that Casper says that makes you want to throw up. Jungkook knows about your whereabouts. If it wasn’t for Sungmin holding you while wrapping your finger and pressing on it, you’d of surely passed out by now.
Sungmin’s beyond pissed. The red on his face shows it and the way he curses under his breath only for you to hear. “ Tell him to stay the fuck away from her, Casper.” He growls.
He lets out a frustrated sigh and the woman next to him rubs his back to calm him down as well. You take notice of the dark red lipstick she wears upon her lips. Such a bold color. “ Knowing Jungkook, he won't stop. What she needs to do is pack up and go.. like yesterday.”
“ I’m sorry but who the fuck are you?” You narrow your eyes at the lady, getting up from Sungmin’s grip on you. She’s taken aback by your sudden dominance in your voice, but smirks knowing that you aren’t bold enough to take that any further.
“ Val.. Casper’s wife and you must be the infamous Yn.”
You’re not sure of this lady, and something about her makes you wonder. Since when has Casper been married? Casper also did not seem like the type to take a hand in marriage for someone. This is all too.. weird for you. Everyone seems to just had grown up and matured and you did miss it all.
“ Can we discuss all this.. perhaps in the living room area?” She asks, pointing in the direction of your cutely decorated space. Uneasy but curious, you nod your head slowly in approval.
Once everyone has gathered on your grey “L” shaped couch, you made sure to sit closely next to Sungmin who puts his arm around you in support. Ironically he's the only one you trust and feel a bit more comfortable with. The last thing you wanted was a reunion.. let alone in your very own living room.
“ So.. Yn.. you were supposed to stay as far away as humanly possible from Seoul. I thought we made a deal that you’d never come back as long as I provided for you financially for the remainder of your life.” Casper’s death gaze upon you would have killed you right now if looks could kill.
“ She has every right to live the life she wants after what you and my brother did to her.” Sungmin fires back at him, the look of anger on his face only getting stronger.
Throwing his head back and letting out a deep sigh, Casper is not surprised by his comment. “ Oh shut up Sungmin, you know it would’ve been best for her if she stayed put.” He shoots you another glare, “ Looks like the dead doesn’t rest after all huh.”
You had no words because it is true. You and your parents had made that deal with Casper, but that was four years ago and you're absolutely grown enough to make your own decisions without your parents input.
“ I.. wanted to do the exchange program and I honestly don’t even look the same anymore. I had a few surgeries and thought if I stayed low-key.. I could graduate and go on with my life.” Which only part of that is true. Yes you had a few surgeries that made you look slightly different and not to mention the hair color change, but you can’t let them know the real reason you came back.
That’s going to ruin your plans.
“ Yeah and how is that working out for you now hmm?” Casper’s not pleased with your dumb response. A deal is a deal and you broke the deal. “ I don’t need your money Casper. If you want it all back I’ll repay my debt but I am allowed to live my life freely!”
Casper lets out one of his sarcastic chuckles, “ Repay your debt? You were never indebted to me or any of the Jeons. I wanted you to live comfortable as possible. Keep the money. Go back to Canada.”
“ No.” It would be a waste of everything if you’d just up and left now. Besides, this is the first time you’ve been in the presence of someone you like. Back home in Canada you did make friends but only till you moved to NYC and you didn’t make much long-term ones there either.
“ Doll, you don’t understand how much Jungkook is really attached to you. He has multiple paintings of you, has kept your pictures, currently working on a sculpture of your face, and still has nightmares about you. He needs professional help and you being here isn’t really the best time to enter his life again, if that’s what you plan to do.”
Sculptures? Paintings? That’s a bit much. You understand the kept pictures part but the rest does seem very drastic. You’ve never had someone that overly obsessed with you before. Your last boyfriend from Canada, before you had originally moved to Seoul, had only gotten professional portraits of you and him. Courtesy of his mother, it was only because you two had went to junior prom together. You two were just teenagers being teenagers. As for you and Jungkook, you two were just lost in lust and not knowing what you two were doing but just...doing it.
You're an adult now, and independent one at that. So whatever you want to do, you can do it.
“ I’m staying here.” Your voice is firm enough to where they know that's your final decision. Sungmin squeezes your arm a bit, reassuring you and sticking right beside you.
Casper lets out a deep sigh once again. He knew you were stubborn but thought you would have been past this phase. Its no use of arguing with you. Your consequences have actions and he did try to warn you. It’s above him now and since you want to make wrong decisions, this time he’ll let you. You reap what you sow.
His tattoo’d hand rub’s his forehead in annoyance of your persistant answers. He’s tried his best and can’t do anymore. “ Fine. Just know, I tried to warn you.”
The silence and tension in the room could be cut like thick slice of cake. You’re content with your decision and can’t seem to understand why they think you can’t handle yourself by yourself. Casper stands up along with Val, the two look at you disappointed but sorry for you. Maybe they are right on this, maybe you didn't think it through.
“ Well, are you at least going to attend the reunion? The group... should know you’re alive if you want to continue living freely.” Casper holds his two fingers making quotation marks around the last two words. You roll your eyes at his remark.
“ Reunion?” You turn to Sungmin who’s currently escorting Casper and Val out the door. You didn’t expect for him to shoo them out so quickly but he says his goodbyes and the door finally closes. That beep sound gives you a wave of relief over your body knowing your home is now secured and locked. The anxiety that had once settled in you can be felt going away.
Leaning against the door, “ I wasn't going to go. I don’t really talk to anyone but my sister. I wanted to take you out because I wasn’t going to attend. The group was personally invited to attend, we got our invitations 3 weeks ago.”
“ Your parents still own that school?” From what you remember, Sungmin’s parents were the one that chose you and gave you the scholarship to attend that high school.
He nods his head and deeply sighs once more, “ Unfortunately, yes. I dislike saying this but they covered up your death and Jungkook’s ass pretty well. To them and our class, Jungkook was also the victim as disgusting as it is. My parents couldn’t afford to lose their perfectly clean reputation, as you know they are also in the limelight as well.”
Of course. Jungkook being painted as the victim when you’re the actual victim yourself. It’s predictable at this point and he probably ran with that narrative until after he’d graduated and everyone moved on.
“ Listen.. you don’t have to go. I really wasn-” “ I’ll go. It’s better they know im alive. I can’t keep faking my identity and pretending to be dead while im here. I just.. want nothing to do with Jungkook.”
A lie. This is the perfect opportunity to lure Jungkook in.
It catches Sungmin off guard when you say that. The least he expected is for you to agree to go near the people who betrayed you. He thinks It can potentially be mentally unhealthy for you but also facing your fears could do you a bit better. It’s a 50/50 chance but not exactly a win-win situation.
Sungmin tilts his head to the side resembling a confused small puppy which makes you smile a bit. “ Are you sure?” He questions, still in disbelief.
No. No you aren’t.
“ Yes.”
The day had gone by pretty fast hanging around Sungmin. He went back home to change his clothes after your guises conversation and came back fashionably late to pick you up after cleaning yourself up as well. The two of you had a pretty big reasonable amount of fun and catching up. It turns out Sungmin had learned English abroad for a bit as he also did an exchange program in the US his junior year. He revealed to you that he lives in the Jeon Mansion with his mom and Jungkook. You were worried about that as well but, Sungmin reassured you that he wouldn’t tell a soul where you live and will act like you two only meet up at cafes. You made him swear on it and if he breaks that promise he’ll be blocked on snapchat.
Now here you two are, standing outside of the school at 6pm after a day of driving around and Sungmin showing you some worthy instagram picture cafes and shopping places. You had bought a few things, nothing too over the top. Some new shoes, a couple of clothing items, and a brand new watch because you had been meaning to get a new one since your old one broke.
“ You sure you wanna do this?”
The school looks the same to you. It floods back memories when you two begin walking into the entrance. That same entrance where the Bangtan Boys came in and Jungkook stopped you because you were in his way of walking. The first time you had laid eyes on each other and then realized you both hated each other. It still smells the same, clean but sweet. The school is vacant except for a few adult people here and there who seem to pay you no mind at all.
With each step you take down the hallway, you’re reminded of the memories you made. The lockers where you’d meet up with Ayami and Sungmin, the bathroom you came out of and Jungkook waited outside for you, and upcoming is the art class. The sound of voices and laughing can be heard the closer you get. Perhaps some left-over students from school today? Sungmin movements become a bit slower, as if he doesn’t want to pass the classroom.
“ We can go back and visit the music room? If you want.”
Now you’re curious as to why he won't pass the room. Surely it’s just some teens right? You shake your head no with furrowed eyebrows, butterflies settling inside your stomach. Swallowing hard, you take one last step towards the entrance of the art room and your stomach almost drops at the sight you see.
The room is beautiful, it really did have a make-over, but the people inside shock you the most. You didn’t expect them to be here right now. You expected them to be coming later on, not lounging around the art room. Most of all, you weren’t ready to see him in general. He stands there by the window, hair longer than you remembered, ripped jeans, doc Martens, a black shirt and leather jacket. When he sets eyes on you, he doesn’t freak out but he just looks at you with sorrow in his eyes. He understands that this moment is could break or make anything so he keeps his mouth closed while admiring that you’re really in-front of him. The rest stare at you with shock, as if they’ve really seen a ghost.
Crystal is the first to curse under her breath with wide eyes and a smile. She runs over to you with open arms and when you do connect with them physically, it feels weird to hug her back but she understands this is a lot to process.
“ I knew it was you. I knew it was you when I saw you in Manhattan! Holy fuck you’re actually alive!” Her grip only gets harder, as if she could squeeze you to death like an orange till you burst. You watch Sungmin prop himself up on the desk and sit quietly. He feels awkward in all this, and now you feel bad.
“ So you faked your death. How does it feel to be selfish?”
You knew that one was coming from him. Turning towards the voice, you decide not to fuel the fire this time. “ I’m sorry. I also did not have a choice given the circumstances..”
The room falls silent. Jungkook, Namjoon, Crystal, Yoongi, Sungmin, and Ayami. They’re all here. All staring at you as you stare at the ground out of pity. Maybe this whole faking death thing was a bit far. Casper could have came up with a better idea than this. Your past was soon to catch up to you.
“ I forgive you.” Crystal breaks the silence, smiling at you to make you feel somewhat better. “ So do I. I’m sorry for contributing into that situation as well. No words can express how deeply affected I am from it and I do hold myself accountable.”
You’d like to accept his apology, you really do, but at this moment you cannot as the wounds still hurt. The traitor, Ayami sits in the corner of the room at a desk. Her arms crossed as she looks outside the window, barely paying you any mind. Although you dislike her presence as she did betray you, It hurts a lot to know she honestly doesn’t care about you.
“ I’m not sorry. You don't know the damage that you’ve done to Jungkook do you?” Yoongi’s voice is stern yet pissed off. With every inch he gets closer to you, it makes you want to ball up and run away.
Until you two are inches apart from each-other and he lets it all out on you.
“ We had to deal with him for years of depression, anxiety, he doesn’t sleep, barely fucking eats, and our business is possibly ruined all because of you. We don’t have a fucking sane enough leader because you wanted to be selfish. We all thought you were dead. Fucking DEAD. You don’t just do shit like that! You could of just left Seoul quietly but to be that fucking dramatic? Come on. Everyone was affected by your drama scene and now you think you can magically just show up like things are okay? It's not.”
It can’t be helped that the tears are flowing from your eyes and the quiet sobs let themself out. You feel just as guilty as they are and it sucks because you’re the victim and they aren't. Coming to this was wrong. Now at least they know you’re alive.
“ I.. should go. I just wanted to apologize for my actions.”
“ Wait, you don’t have to go yn.”
But it was too late. You quickly walk out the room as fast as you can while wiping the hot tears coming down your face. People in the hallway look at you funny but you keep your head down. That familiar feeling in your chest settles in. It hurts. It feels like your heart has broken into a million pieces. None of this was how you expected it to go however you weren’t even supposed to come anyways.
By now your feet are tired of walking and each time you blink its blurry. This place looks familiar. The flowers align the trail along with some trees. The school’s little garden trail. Mascara runs down your face. It hurts. It hurts a lot. Being in front of everyone like that was a bold move and to have Yoongi yell at you was embarrassing as well. The pain in your chest feels like someone is stabbing you over and over in your heart. Your heartstrings feel like they can give out any second. At this point you didn’t care who sees you sobbing loudly. All you want is to take everything back about what you said and should have just agreed to stay home.
“ Yn?”
You ignore it. The sobbing becomes louder and your keep trying to wipe your swollen eyes to rid the tears. It doesn’t stop.
The person sighs, slowly inching closer. You know that scent all too well. It’s him. What is he even doing here anyways? Why did he think it was okay to follow you out here? Something touches your hand but you turn around to face him and jerk your hand away. He was offering you his handkerchief. You look at him with hatred in your eyes. This all feels too familiar.
Jungkook sighs, nodding his head slowly while retreating his hand. “ I’m sorry. I want to apologize to you in a million different ways but I understand that we’re broken. I broke you. I did those things to you. I take responsibility. No words can explain how badly I fucked up. If I can go back and change everything I would in a heartbeat and do everything correctly.”
You take a minute to analyze his face. You’ve never seen his soft side of Jungkook. The way his face tells it all, lets you know he is sincere. To know he’s also been suffering makes you feel even more guilty. You won't accept it though. He will never get an acceptance of any sort from you.
“ I hate you.” You sniffle.
“ I understand.”
“ No Jungkook, I really fucking hate you.”
Was all you said before grabbing his jacket to pull him down into a passionate kiss. The two of your tongues fight for dominance as his left hand goes to your waist and his right up to your face. He can’t help himself but to deepen the kiss. Your lips taste like pure honey to him and he wants to devour you right then and there and never let you go.
This wasn’t supposed to happen..

//grooming
this shit with dream. honestly, i got a few thoughts about it. i’ve spent the last day or so reviewing the evidence and checking both sides. this might be a long post bear with me. also read the whole thing, or at least read my conclusion, before commenting.
-initial allegations:
i have decided to respect the alleged victim(s), and as dream’s only statement as of today, October 14, 2022 (MST 19:08), has been a whiney priv twitter thread, i’ve elected to place that dream has not made any real statements regarding the allegations. i will further explore his defense when he gets home and takes this seriously. i’m honestly disgusted by his initial response. if he makes no genuine response, i will assume he doesn’t take these matters seriously and that will be evidence enough for me to quit respecting him.
-faked or inefficient evidence:
i have seen plenty of evidence so far against the provided proof of the first victim, but at the same time i have seen other evidence in support or her proof. for example, her having the same story about this for two years. the bigger problem here is inefficient evidence. dream has not come out yet with any proof whether or not they did have communication. theres too little here for us to know definitively. the next part will continue.
-definition of grooming:
based on the released messages of the original poster, i see no real instances of grooming. i am seeing that he is being cringey with an overuse of heart eyed emojis. there is no coercion, no threats, and no power play going on in the provided proof. that being said, things like this can be one-sided and uncomfortable to experience. i would not define this as grooming, rather, a misreading of boundaries. this is still a problem, for a content creator and fan to have this misunderstanding, but it is not equivalent to grooming. historically, dream has had issues with understanding other people’s boundaries. the “16 is legal in the uk” joke thats going around is proof of that. thats an uncomfortable joke, and tommy obviously didnt like it, but its not solid proof of pedophilia. i’ve always believed, and will continue to believe, that he needs to work on this moving forward.
-racism, antiblackness, and antisemitism
with this being talked about, im seeing a lot of people talk about other things dream has done. i can only really speak on his comments about mexicans, but recognize that hes been in the wrong before by blocking people educating him on antiblackness, collaborating with notch, etc etc. personally i believe it is unfair for him and especially for the victims for this to be turned into a “look at All the shit hes done!” thing. the conversation should be focused on the stories of the victims right now. i encourage these callouts on him, especially with his lacking apologies, but now is not the time. i say this as a victim of sexual assault and grooming.
-“dream in these stories acts out of character”
you do not know him. parasocial relationships, although they are a joke now, are still serious as hell. i’ve watched dream since 2020 and i’ll admit, some of these things don’t add up to what we know about him. the biggest thing, being that he face revealed to this fan. that does not track with what we have seen about him. with that said, *we don’t know this guy*. the only people who will confirm if these actions are out of character are his friends, and that’s it. we cannot do that.
-conclusion
“believe victims always” and “believe victims first” are two different sayings, and neither should be the first thing to come to mind. always take things with a grain of salt. that being said, express empathy and RESPECT to the victims coming forward. to dream stans: do NOT jump to the conclusion now that dream is innocent, and do NOT say shitty things to or about the victims coming out. to antis: stop celebrating this shit. it’s disrespectful as fuck, strays the conversations, and makes it harder to find the evidence if its all buried under your shitty memes about it. i am choosing to not make any conclusions until it is confirmed OR denied by further evidence.
i have no problem unsubbing from dream if this is true— understand that i have basically abandoned his content out of boredom and literally not watched a single stream or video of his since like 2021 (aside from the face reveal). im by no means a dream stan. i watch and engage with dream smp content, and thats the extent to what i do concerning dream. i also don’t hate him. thats why i’m hoping this post is portrayed as neutral as possible.
if you are overwhelmed by this, i am also supporting you. my support and empathy does not end with the alleged victims. take care of yourself, stay off twitter, and know my dms are always open.

Some thoughts about Episode 2x12 of 911 Lone Star and subject of physical abuse. I’ll put behind the cut for those who don’t want to read:
I work in the field of abuse of adults and one of the hardest realities of my job is that I have to hold the word “abuse” lightly because the spectrum of what is experienced as abuse by the parties involved is wide, for many factors, including enculturation, personal history, physiological make-up, emotional maturity/intelligence, and mental health. There are legal definitions of what constitutes abuse/assault in every jurisdiction and there is the basic understanding of power/control and the role that plays in the relationship. Even the word “healthy” when it comes to relationships is difficult to define because what I regard as “healthy” is not something someone else considers valuable enough to work on or worth separating from their partner over. It is surprisingly personal and while I have laws that I enforce, the reality is that even when an incident meets the legal criteria, if the victim says it wasn’t abusive to them, there is not much we can do other than to keep offering the victim that there is another way to love and be loved.
That said, I’ve seen a lot of posts of fans very upset about TK’s shoving Carlos when he was angry. And I am not here to say that interpretation is wrong. However, I do understand why the writers and actors would have created that scene and not consider it all that problematic. Again, not justifying, simply offering some thoughts from someone who works in this field. These are my own and I know other investigators in my own unit who would think differently, so it is just one perspective. Also, I am not a sworn officer. I enforce civil law, not criminal.
1) I don’t believe TK’s reaction is out of character. When he is emotionally compromised, he self-harms. He does that with substances and we have seen him seek out fights (the bar which leads to the police station scene and with Judd, both S1) when he is upset. I read his pushing Carlos as self harm over abuse because his actions betray that he is trying to get Carlos to *hit him*. Which Carlos, being a police officer who is trained to remain calm (they are supposed to be anyway), responded by restraining TK. TK’s response is then not to calm down but to get more upset and tell him to leave because TK is *not getting the emotional release that he wants* which is physical pain. He wants to feel physical pain to mask his emotional pain but Carlos won’t participate in that. So this isn’t abuse in the typical way we understand it. It is manipulation on TK’s part and unhealthy as hell, but is actually in keeping with what TK does when he’s hurting emotionally.
2) This scene is highly-feminine coded. There are hundreds of examples in tv/movies where a woman is upset and she beats her fists against a man’s chest (who is almost never who she is actually upset with/about) and the man endures it for a bit and then restrains her until she calms down. We see it all the time and while also problematic, generally we don’t object to it because we view the woman as not being able to cause the man any real harm or pain. Women get away with a LOT of domestic abuse because of this bias. So given that trope, it is very possible that the writers and actors viewed this scene through that same bias. That TK isn’t really hurting Carlos because he is bigger and more muscular than TK. Again, not great, but something to consider when evaluating the choices made by the creators of the art in question.
3) The Fight or Flight response is so deeply ingrained, it is very difficult to stop. When I enter someone’s home as part of my work, I am there to investigate an allegation of abuse. Even with the word INVESTIGATOR on my chest, and with everyone knowing why I am there, there are some perpetrators who are so reactionary in their fight/flight response that they try to threaten and intimidate me (fight). They are displaying abuse behaviors to the one person you would logically think they would want to hide those behaviors from. And many do. But for some, they literally cannot stop the response. Makes my job a little bit easier because now I am a witness to their abusive reactions and can document it. In this instance with TK and Carlos, I’m not necessarily saying that response was triggered in TK, but again, he has a much higher propensity for Fight than Flight in general so I can’t say it’s *not* a factor either.
4) Many have expressed wanting to see the apology between them that was not shown. In some ways, I can understand why the showrunners chose not to. That should not be a quick conversation. And in the context of a show like this, where there is no other way to do it, I think would ultimately be worse. If TK apologizes and Carlos accepts without much conversation, there is no reason for anyone to expect the behavior to change on TK’s part. This actually models abusive cycles. Any conversation where Carlos confronts TK about his behavior would take real time because they’d have to get at the reasons why TK had that reaction in the first place, and given that Carlos has already addressed this (in their convo at the police station after TK is arrested for brawling) and it hasn’t changed. Therefore, the scene would need to either put Carlos in a role of continuing to bring this up while addressing why he is putting up with the behavior from TK, or Carlos needs to do some self-reflection about why he’s still in this relationship. So to do it in a way that is actually “healthy” doesn’t take them where the writers wanted them to be later in the episode. So, in many ways, their apology scene is best served by a well-written fanfic than it would be by a 2 minute on-screen scene that would either serve to perpetuate an unhealthy cycle or push them further apart. This way, there is an ambiguous element where everyone can pretend that some long-ass conversation occurred and the two of them came to a healthy resolution.
5) DV scenes between men are *way* bloodier than any other scenes I encounter. In my experience, when men are abusive of men, it’s very brutal. And again, what equals abuse is sometimes hard to define and even harder to address. So a little shoving, while not great, is also not even in the stratosphere of how bad it often can be. Is it right to view abuse with that kind of relativism? Hard to say. But when you exist in this world, it is hard not to and I have to go by the people in front of me and what they are expressing about how they feel about what happened. If you, the viewer, watched this and reported it as abuse, I could go investigate. But if TK and Carlos say to me, “Nah, we didn’t feel that at all.” Then it doesn’t matter what you, the witness, feel about it, or even me. I can offer my educated and experienced view, but that doesn’t mean the two parties will accept it. That’s why I have learned to hold it loosely because adults have the right to self-determination and the right to make poor choices. And believe me, that is very hard to do, especially when I encounter a victim who is clearly so beat-down that they can’t imagine anything better for themselves. But if I tell that victim, “You must...” then I am simply becoming the next person controlling their choices. Instead, I offer “You could...” or “Here’s some options...”
To me personally, I read TK’s shoving Carlos as evidence of unhealthy self-harm behavior more than TK abusing Carlos, because the action wasn’t rooted in power and control and ended fairly benignly. Would it be awesome for them to still address it? Absolutely. But I also understand why they chose not to.

UK CITIZENS! Please read:
The government seems to be planning a big rollback of trans rights. Liz Truss, the Equalities Minister, is reportedly going to be talking to Boris Johnson in the next 48 hours to ask him to introduce legislation to achieve this. Specifically the following things are on the cards:
1. Scrapping reform of the Gender Recognition Act This legislation would seek to make it easier for people to change their legal gender marker. Currently the process can be lengthy, expensive, and demeaning, as a panel of strangers have to determine whether you’re “Trans enough”. Changes to make it simpler and quicker were planned and well-received by those who reviewed them - however the government is ditching the entire thing. Similar changes were made in Ireland with zero negative consequences - TERF fearmongering over people Self-IDing turned out to be exactly that, fearmongering only.
2. Make it more difficult for trans youth to access treatment Currently, trans people, including those under the age of 18, end up waiting 2-4 years on the NHS until they get an appointment. They’re then expected to spend two more years living as their gender before any treatment is even considered. Some people apparently think six years is not long enough to wait. Besides this, if you’re under-age, you cannot receive any permanently life-altering treatments: only therapy and puberty blockers (Which only delay puberty until you stop taking them). Still, the government seems determined to make this more difficult to access. They may also be cracking down on private clinics that offer these services, and possibly those they offer to adults (HRT and surgeries) - considering there are no plans to improve the NHS wait times, this would be a devastating blow to accessibility of treatment in the UK.
3. A US-style “Bathroom Bill” Just like the US south, TERFs are trying to raise hell about “single-sex spaces”, and specifically try to exclude people from using their preferred bathroom where they are comfortable and safe based on their anatomy. I could talk about this for hours, but it’s as daft an idea as ever - - Trans people are far more at risk of being the victim of sexual assault than they are the perpetrator. - It’s incredibly humiliating and demeaning to be forced to use a bathroom not belonging to your gender - How does this even get enforced? Do they check your genitals at the door? Do you carry around your original birth certificate? Who will do this? - So say you do an eyeball test - what about butches? Non-Binary people? Intersex people? AFAB people who have hormone conditions etc? Anyone who’s GNC? And if they expect trans men to use the ladies’, I guarantee they’d get turned away. - The supposed cis men who would impersonate a trans women to access the ladies’ bathrooms don’t need the excuse. They don’t need to wear a dress, live as a woman, take treatments - they would just do it. Why are trans women being punished for the actions of cis men? - Trans women will NOT be safe in the men’s bathrooms. We will be assaulted. I guarantee it. There are so many ways to address sexual assault in bathrooms and changing rooms if that’s really what they’re concerned about (It isn’t, they’re just transphobes) but why not advocate for more single-person bathrooms, for example? Forcing trans people into unsafe and undignified spaces isn’t the way.
So, what can I do?

you’re gonna wanna be my best friend— y. itadori x gn! reader
max.note’s: this is my child, my baby and i love it. probably my favorite fic i’ve ever wrote uwu i think the ending is bit rushed but that’s i was writing this at 4am (i’m also trying out a new layout-ish so yea)
synopsis—where you and Itadori came up with the greatest, yet stupidest idea in your lives: getting married to lower your tuition cost. what could go wrong? well, there’s getting caught by the government, and then there’s potentially falling in love with your best friend.
warning/tags: best friends to lovers, mutual pining, characters aged up (18+), high school/college au, modern au, fluff & crack, megumi is the only one with a working brain cell
w. count— 3.1k
“yuuji, what’re we gonna do!?” you exclaimed, pacing around the open space of said boy’s bedroom. itadori groaned loudly from his spot on his bed, tugging at the skin underneath his eyes with him.
looking down at the bright, bold red letters of the opened email on your phone screen, you internally cried to yourself, because… fuck. this is what all the hard work all four-years of high school led up to?
25, 580 dollars worth tuition left to pay, out of pocket.
“i don’t fucking know. ...wait, do you think megumi would have an answer?” he perked up at his own, and quite frankly, idiotic idea like an excited puppy. if you squint you can see a tail wagging behind him. turning around to look at the pink headed boy, you practically leaped across the room to slap him repeatedly upside his head.
“ow– hey... ouch! what the fuck?!” itadori whined, lifting his arms up to shield himself way from your merciless assault. “yuuji, are you dumb? we cannot, for the love of god, ask megumi. he’ll probably tell us to apply for a loan or something.” you snapped.
“we’ll do that then, it can’t be that hard.”
“have you seen your credit? there’s no way we're getting approved for a loan.” you exasperated as you folded your arms across your chest, plopping yourself down next to itadori. and the both of you were left to sit in condemning silence that laid itself like a thick, winter blanket over you. itadori could’ve sworn he heard the gears turning in your head because of the stark silence.
you suddenly gasped, jumping to your feet. it was almost like a lightbulb went off on the top of your head. itadori gaped at you as your eyes lit up like stars, turning to him, it was your ‘aha’ moment. the biggest smile he’s ever seen on your face. he couldn’t help the tinge of nervousness settle in the pit of his tummy, probably for good reason.
“here me out– what if we got married?”
-
you and itadori meet in the lunchroom on the first day of school your freshman year of high school.
to say you meet by pure coincidence is actually a perfect explanation to describe what really went down. you remember how you sat alone at the lunch table, scrolling through your phone on social media when all of a sudden a rather energetic boy with pink hair crashed into your table. face planted in your bowl of greek yogurt. and it was the fancy kind too.
the cafeteria around you erupted in laughter at the... spontaneous display happening before you. and although you wanted to laugh (in all honesty, it was funny), the boy below hasn’t moved an inch. truthfully, you were worried.
“hey, um, are you okay?” you asked, nudging the top of his head. itadori didn’t show any sign of getting up. you nudged him a little harder, shaking his shoulder. with a gurgled grunt, itadori lifted his head from the bowl and the first thing that caught your eye was the crimson colored blood smeared along the stark white of the yogurt. there was a delirious look in his eye as if he wasn’t completely there in the real world. the laughter has long since died down, only a few strangers coming up to the table to record the aftermath.
when itadori came to, he peered up at you through his yogurt clumped eyelashes and he felt his heart tighten considerably in his chest.
“you okay? you’re... bleeding, a lot.” you asked again, gesturing to the entirety of his face. he didn’t say anything as he wiped around his nose, seeing the blood covered dairy. he looked mortified, now catching onto the stares and cameras by nosy teenagers being shoved in his face. reacting quickly, you reached out to one his unoccupied hand, gently guiding him in the direction of the nurses office. your footsteps echoed as you walked down the empty hallway, itadori following close behind you. neither of you said anything during the trip, nor when you entered the nurse’s office. it wasn’t until you had a warm wash rag against itadori’s cheek, wiping away the food and blood mixture, that he finally said something.
“i’m... sorry, for ruining your lunch...” you stopped in your tracks, left to ponder in your thoughts. he’s sitting here with a busted lip and a shattered dignity... and he’s apologizing for face planting in your yogurt?
“hey, you have bigger things to worry about. so, what’s your name?” you continued to wipe at his face, waiting for him to reply.
“yuuji itadori.” and you saw the slightest glimpse of a smile tugging at the corner of his rosy lips. you returned the smile, teeth showing.
from then on, you two were joined at the hip. there wasn’t anything you didn’t do together.
there was something about itadori that brought out the inner child in you. he was sweet, loyal and compassionate. he was a lamp to a moth– hard to resist. hard to ignore. he was your first taste of an easy going life, being able to enjoy being a kid.
on the other hand, you were the foundation he needed. you were open minded, authentic and grounded. you were the first thing in itadori’s life that felt stable. obtainable. your ambition turned into his drive; he wanted to be by your side for as long as possible.
you both were something– somebody, each other needed the most. it’s like what they say: the best people in your life come when you need them the most.
-
“are you two dumb or something? now, i expect this kinda thing from yuuji, but not you.”megumi quipped, left eyebrow arched in concern as he gestured towards your direction with his pencil. nobara in a similar state next to him, working on the worksheet the teacher handed out earlier. it was currently mid-way through the school day, you, itadori, megumi and nobara sat at your assigned table in statistics. it’s been about a week since your discussion with itadori about your... rather brilliant idea.
“well, that’s harsh.” itadori grumbled, flipping him off. megumi snorted as he returned the gesture. “okay, now listen! they’re explaining the thingy.”
you cleared your throat, sitting up straight to try to make yourself look dignified. “when applying for financial aid, if you’re married, we’ll be considered an independent on the document. meaning? more money!”
“okay, well that’s great and all but, you do know you’ll be responsible for each other legally? as in, medical and money expenses. what would you do if either one of you dies? ” megumi questioned. you chuckled, wrapping your arm around itadori’s neck. “i’ve been legally responsible for him since freshman year, what’ll be the difference?”
megumi rolled his eyes, burying his head in his hands. “god, you’re both so helpless.”
“you know what megumi? i hope both sides of your pillow are warm when you go to sleep tonight.” itadori gasped in shock, hand reaching up to grip the cotton fabric of the shirt he was wearing. nobara snickered behind her hand to which megumi prompted to shift in her direction, whispering something along the lines of “don’t encourage them!”
“(y/n)! you did not just say that!?”
“i sure as hell did. and i’ll say it again!” you snapped your fingers, jutting out your hip. “and they’ll say it again!” itadori said, copying your actions.
megumi and nobara only watched in pity as the two of you continued to embarrass yourself in the middle of the classroom, other classmates turning to catch a peak of the commotion.
“wait, i got one, i got one! ahem, i hope you pour yourself a nice, big bowl of cereal of— what do you eat? apple jacks? only for there to be no milk!”
you sputtered out a laugh, pounding your fist on the table. itadori was loud with laughter as well, body slung over the back of the chair.
megumi sighed, picking up his pencil to erase a mistake he spotted on his paper. he watched as the eraser smudged the lead on the paper instead of actually erasing it. watching the scene unfold before you, wheezing out another laugh, and clutching on to your stomach for relief.
“shut the fuck up, the both of you.”
-
graduation was only a month away.
teachers were cramming review lessons left and right. completing any last minute work to turn in. senior activities, trips, prom, and getting ready for what was to be the biggest day of your life. where all your hard work and putting up with the shitty ass public school system for 13 years will finally pay off.
at least that’s how they make it seem.
itadori was currently sitting in megumi’s living room, sprawled out on the floor like a starfish. his political science textbook laid open next to him. he’s been unusually quiet this afternoon, megumi noted when he would glance up from his own textbook in his lap.
“hey, yuuji? something the matter?”
itadori didn’t respond right away, instead, he shifted himself closer to megumi to lay his head on the other boy's lap. caught surprised by his actions, megumi tried to shove his head off but itadori being the stubborn man he was wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“god, you’re so annoying—“
“then why are you still friends with me?” his words were quick and sharp like a kitchen knife. and megumi had to take a second to pause. “is this what this is about?” itadori still hasn’t said anything, his body curling in on itself. eventually, he shook his head no.
“alright... then what’s wrong?”
megumi watched as itadori twiddled with fingers, reluctant to share his feelings with the other male. you see, the thing is that although megumi and itadori have been friends since middle school, they found it hard to share each other's feelings. especially megumi. they’ve always been the “i don’t know how to talk about my feelings so let me enjoy your company for a while?” type of friends. except for that one time.
“it’s just... i’m not so sure if i want to marry (y/n) anymore...” megumi could barely hear what itadori said, but he caught it. and color him surprised. “have you finally come to senses that it’s a stupid idea?”
“no, it’s not that–” megumi sighed internally, “–it’s just, what if our relationship changes after it’s finalized? we planned to do it after graduation a-and– it’s just a really scary thing to think about.” itadori’s voice began to warble, and megumi could feel his body tremble as the boy beneath tried to hold in his tears.
in all the years they’ve known each other, itadori has only cried once in front of him. and that was the night of his 16th birthday. because itadori didn’t come from the best home, and at the time, only megumi knew of such disclosed information.
“they said it themselves, you guys have always taken care of each other. so why do you think it’ll change things?” he gently tried to coax itadori into calming down, his hand stroking the soft tufts of his hair. thumb caressing his buzzcut. itadori sniffed, and megumi can hear the disgusting sound of snot being sucked back in his nostrils, but he refrained himself from reacting.
“b-because, i just don’t want my feelings to get in the way, ya’ know? this is simply supposed to be platonic, but it isn’t anymore. at least for me.”
and right then and there, megumi’s suspicions were confirmed. itadori did have feelings for you. more than what a best friend should have. “your feelings? and what might these feelings be, yuuji?”
“that i want to spend a very long time with them, by their side. but not as their best friend. something more than that.” he let out a shuddered exhale, and the room was engulfed with silence. megumi took this time to process what itadori said, the last four words resonating in his mind.
something more than that.
megumi shifted itadori’s body off his, moving to sit up on his own. and that’s when he saw his face for the first time; his red-brimmed eyes and how the tears clumped his willowy eyelashes together. the tremble in his lips because, damn, he’s trying so hard to hold it in.
he didn’t have anything to say– there wasn’t much to say to begin with, but megumi wrapped his arms around itadori in a hug. he felt him relax against his body, taking in the cool scent of his sweater.
“it’s okay to be scared, yuuji, but i believe... you’re smart enough to make the right decision.”
-
standing underneath the blazing summer heat, you stood in front of the court house waiting for itadori to show up. today was supposed to be the day, where you and itadori were to be married. it’s been thirty minutes and no itadori in sight. which is unlike him considering that he is, surprisingly, very punctual. he hasn’t even responded to any of your texts or calls, which also isn’t very much like him.
but those thirty minutes turned into an hour, that soon turned into two hours.
and to say you were angry, was a complete understatement. you were livid. and that’s how you found yourself banging on itadori’s front door, ignoring the stares of the noisy next door neighbor peeping through their window.
“yuuji! open the fucking door! i know your ass is in there, i can see your minecraft lamp turned on from your window.” you shouted, breathing heavily through your nose. there wasn’t an immediate response, only dead silence, which prompted you to raise your fist to go another round of beating up the door until the faint sound of footsteps reached the door. opening with a creak.
there stood the man of the hour, yuuji ita- fucking- dori.
“there you are! dude, what the hell happened? why didn’t you show up at the courthouse today? did you forget or...” you were quick to jump the gun, bombarding him with questions left and right.
“no... i didn’t forget.” was his reply, eye downcast to look at his sock clad feet. anywhere but your face right now.
“then what yuuji? what could’ve been so important that you decided to just forget?” you flayed your arms around like a mad man, the anger rolling off your body in waves. you knew that you weren’t necessarily being fair to him right now, you can tell by his stand-offish attitude since opening the door. but you couldn’t bring yourself to care at the moment.
itadori was reluctant to answer, his legs wobbly with the anxiety running rampant in his system. he was tempted to say sorry and be done with this, but then he remembered megumi’s words.
...you’re smart enough to make the right decision.
“because... because this isn’t a good idea anymore.” now you’re more confused than angry.
“what do you mean this isn’t a good idea anymore,” you asked, placing your hand on your hip. “that's not what you said 4 months ago.”
itadori sighed, starting to feel the twinge of annoyance in the tips of his fingers. he was starting to regret his choice of words. “i know what i said 4 months ago. but now 4 months later, i’ve changed my mind.”
you wanted to laugh, but you couldn’t muster a bubble of it in your system. was he for real right now?
“oh really? and why do you say that?”
“it’ll change everything.” the reply was short. straight to the point.
“what? no, it won’t! don’t be silly, we’ll still be best friends!” you try to muse, but itadori wasn’t budging. his face was disdained, detached from the world. the answer was sitting on the tip of his tongue, but he wasn’t ready to say it. especially in front of you.
taking in his physique, your mind started to slow. you didn’t want to go there but you couldn’t help it. it was only natural, right?
he’s been off putting since the graduation ceremony two weeks ago. he was so bright and happy that day, shoving his diploma in megumi’s face a numerous number of times. you remember the scream he let out when your name was called to walk across the stage of the arena. how embarrassed you felt as you did so, but a twinge of giddy happiness filled your chest. because he was calling out your name. your heart always did leap with joy when his attention was on you, and only you. the way he had you wrapped around his finger, without him even knowing. it takes you back to when you two first met, how you were so captivated by his amber eyes. the sudden urge to be there. to always be there and to be more.
so... “do you not like me anymore? is this what this is about now?” it came out a whispered, and itadori was shocked nonetheless. now what were you talking about?
“what, no! of course i still like you!” you almost laughed at how quickly he responded.
“then why? why did you–”
“i just didn’t want to make things awkward between us! i didn’t want to ruin our friendship with my... stupid feelings.” glancing up, you can see the slightest tint of pink on the roundness of his cheeks. awkward? ruin?
you took a step forward, your hand reaching to hold his. kindly, thumbing his knuckles with your thumb. the way he always liked it.
“yuuji, your feelings are never stupid. i’m your best friend–” with a frustrated huff, itadori ripped his hand away from yours.
“but that’s the thing though! best friend this and best friend that– what if i don’t want to be your best friend anymore, hm? what if–” make the right decision, “what if i want to be more than that?”
more than that?
“you want to be more than friends? is what you’re saying.” itadori can almost feel himself shit his pants.
that giddy feeling that always erupted whenever you were around him expanded ten fold. youll be damned: your best friend of four and a half years, was in love with you. the smile that you struggled to fight bloomed with mirth on your face. and itadori followed suit, reaching out to hold your hand once more.
not much needed to be said, the smile on your face was enough for him to put it all together. for once, he was actually smart enough to make a decision. a good one at that.

Ahistorical, Absurd, and Unsustainable (Part Three)
An Examination of the Mass Arrest of the Paranormal Liberation Front
Introduction and Part One Part Two
PART THREE: Ethical Problems
Law Enforcement Conduct
The first thing that jumps out—the thing everyone talks about first and foremost about the raid—was Hawks’ murder of Twice. Murder is a controversial word in this context, I know, but I stand by it: regardless of his guilt or his intent, Bubaigawara Jin was a fleeing man who Hawks made a cold, rational decision to quite literally stab in the back. In that moment, Hawks appointed himself as an executioner of the state and murdered a man without due process—no trial, no judge, no nothing. It was an extrajudicial killing,[26] and while I know many people in the U.S. have gotten kind of jaded about that sort of thing, let me assure you that police brutality is still police brutality even when it’s being exercised against people who have committed crimes.
To illustrate this, allow me to share a few more excerpts from the Penal Code:
Assault and Cruelty by Specialized Public Employees: When a person performing or assisting in judicial, prosecutorial or police duties commits, in the performance of their duties, an act of assault or physical or mental cruelty upon the accused, suspect or any other person, imprisonment or imprisonment without work for not more than 7 years is imposed.
Abuse of Authority Causing Death or Injury by Specialized Public Employees: A person who commits a crime prescribed under the preceding Article and thereby causes the death or injury of another person is dealt with by the punishment for the crimes of injury or the punishment prescribed in the preceding Article, whichever is severer.
The punishments for Criminal Injury are imprisonment for not more than fifteen years or a fine of not more than 500,000 yen or, if the injury results in death, imprisonment for not less than three years. That’s really what Hawks ought to be looking at for Twice's murder, save that apparently heroes just aren't liable for this stuff, otherwise they'd be up against it all the time in the course of “fighting villains.” Certainly, Hawks doesn’t seem to have faced any repercussions thus far, beyond having to apologize in a press conference.
Now, again, many American readers of My Hero Academia are deeply embedded in a culture that normalizes police violence, and so there is a lot of callous handwaving about how Hawks did the right thing because Jin was a significant threat. In response to such dismissal, let me provide a few more numbers:
In the U.S. in 2019, law enforcement killed over a thousand people.
In the same year in Japan, law enforcement killed two. Two people.
In the U.S., a major factor in how police keep skating on these deaths is the legal doctrine of qualified immunity, which is nominally intended to protect officers from frivolous lawsuits in cases where they’re ruled to be acting in “good faith,” a vague ruling which has made successful prosecution of police brutality and negligence all but impossible.
Japan, and I cannot stress this enough, does not have this doctrine. The significance of law enforcement taking a life is not so casually brushed aside in other places in the world, so please don’t try to tell me that Horikoshi was trying to get across the idea that Hawks did the right thing, easy as that. The critical depiction of heroes and Hero Society dehumanizing their enemies is all over the manga.
When the Tartarus guards discuss what the government is doing about Gigantomachia, one of them complains that the higher-ups can’t use missiles—missiles!—on him because he’s quote-unquote-human.[27] During their battle at Kamino, All Might tells All For One that this time, he’s going to put him in a prison cell—he characterizes his attempt to kill All For One six years ago as a mistake. Even in the spin-off manga, Vigilantes, designated police representative Tsukauchi[28] looks absolutely aghast at Endeavor’s willingness to use lethal force against Pop Step, an innocent-until-proven-guilty minor, even though, at that time, they have all the evidence in the world that she is actively engaged in setting off bombs in populated areas.
Most prominent is the series’ treatment of the High End Noumu. The heroes rationalize them as corpses, monsters, inhuman, all in order to kill them guilt-free,[29] and this rationalization spills over to Shigaraki during the War Arc, as the chasm of understanding between heroes and villains reaches its most stark. Yet, that same arc was proceeded by the reveal of the truth about Kurogiri, which had Tsukauchi directly acknowledge that they may have misunderstood the Noumu as the series dangled the possibility that Kurogiri possesses lingering awareness from Shirakumo Oboro. Earlier, we had Ending, a man who wanted Endeavor to kill him and thought Endeavor would do it specifically because Endeavor killed the High End, and this act set him decisively apart from the non-murdery heroic norm. Even into the War Arc itself, we were getting new information on the Noumu: to wit, we were shown incontrovertible proof—in the form of Woman’s internal monologue in Chapter 268—that the High End Noumu do think.
Even if we assume the government has relaxed its prohibitions about public servants assaulting people in the course of carrying out their duty, it does not follow that Hawks’ extrajudicial execution was totally fine. Heroes are not supposed to kill because police are not supposed to kill, and in Japan, it isn’t assumed that they will the moment they run into resistance.
And look, this is not to say that Japanese police never get away with police brutality. Obviously, the country has its own problems with the issue, typically involving racism and ethnocentrism. But the way that some people in the fandom just brush off Jin’s death does a disservice to the way the series frames Hawks’ actions and what that framing is communicating to a Japanese reader.
Also, even putting aside the matter of his death, openly taunting a mentally ill man about how easy it was to fool him definitely pings me as an act of mental cruelty, though of course there’s no one to sue Hawks over that one, seeing as he murdered the victim and only witness. (Chapter 264)
That all said, there are other issues with the heroes’ actions during the raid. One is called out right in the text: Midnight acknowledges that the use of chemical agents is illegal, but calls upon Momo to engineer knock-out drugs to use against Gigantomachia anyway. Is that an action Momo will face any repercussions for at all? And if not, what does it imply about the setting that she won’t?
Here’s another big one: what’s the legality of heroes using their quirks against civilians? Because that’s what the vast majority of the PLF are, civilians. Oh, they’re suspects, sure, but throughout the manga, “heroes” aren’t set up as people who just fight any and every tiny crime they come across. From the very first chapter, heroes are set up as a specific counter to “evildoers” designated as “villains”—legally defined as people who use their quirks illegally two or more times.[30]
There is a very illuminating scene in the second chapter of Vigilantes in which Aizawa confronts Knuckleduster for his assault of a random businessman and, the moment he realizes Knuckleduster is quirkless, apologizes for the misunderstanding and walks away. If Knuckleduster doesn’t have a quirk, Knuckleduster by definition cannot be a villain, and thus, Aizawa is not authorized to throw down with him.[31] It’s somewhat unclear, not least because a lot of the evidence is in the more-interested-in-systemic-worldbuilding Vigilantes, but there is reason to believe that heroes are not allowed to use their quirks against people who are committing mundane crimes.[32] If anything, I should think that heroes only using their quirks on people who are using their quirks illegally is part of the philosophical scaffolding that gives heroes their moral authority—you see this argument from the first bearer of One For All, who loudly espouses that people not only should not use their quirks selfishly, but that quirks should only be used to help others. This kind of supposed selflessness is what MHA’s current society is built on.
To see the relevance here, consider Trumpet. Oh, he absolutely was using his quirk illegally, but can the system prove that?[33] After all, he only ever used it on allies—do you think they're in a big hurry to snitch on him? Do you think Mr. Compress is going to? And if the police can't prove Trumpet used his quirk illegally, then is he even a capital-V Villain? What about all those other rank and file types? Certainly we saw the ones at the villa fighting back with quirks, but what about those supporters at bases scattered around the country? Did they fight back, and if so, did they do it with quirks? If not, was it legal for them to be targeted by heroes?
More importantly, can they mount an argument on that, be it a legal or a moral one?
The Scope of the Operation
The next big ethical problem actually predates the raid itself, and it’s this: how did the Commission know where to target their raids? How did they obtain that information? Specifically, how many privacy violations were involved? It strains credulity well past my personal breaking point to imagine that Hawks and the Commission were able to get every name, every base of operations, especially given the limitations they were under—the fact that Hawks couldn’t communicate openly, the hard time limit before the PLF put their plan in motion, making sure they didn’t tip off someone in the massive secret organization that had people working in heroics, the government, the infrastructure, etc.—but let’s consider the sorts of avenues the HPSC did have available to them.
So to start with, they send in Hawks, who’s specifically trained to extract information from people without raising suspicion about his motives. Doubtlessly, he’s able to get all sorts of names,[34] starting with the higher-ups—not just Re-Destro and his inner circle, but also any of the advisors that e.g. run businesses that they invite him to patronize, MLA heroes, and so on. And with a decent crop of names in hand—let us assume for the sake of argument that Hawks had some way to communicate those names to his handlers—the HPSC can start doing background checks and digging in.
Where do these people come from? Where were they born, and, if they moved, where did they settle? Where do they work? What are their social pastimes? Trace the commonalities, look into publicly available records, use wiretaps…
Yes, the police in Japan can totally use wiretaps if they suspect organized criminal activity—it was one of the powers expanded significantly under that controversial 2017 law I footnoted earlier. One thing to note is that this does require a warrant, or at least the expectation that a judge will grant a warrant.[35] But how far does that go? Can they get a warrant for financial records? How about phone records? E-mail accounts?
Can they wiretap people for no reason save their association with a name Hawks provided? If a PLF member attends a Jazzercize class on Thursday mornings, does every member of that class start noticing a weird little reverb on their phone calls for a week? Does Re-Destro’s hometown have an influx of people poking around evaluating its potential as a place to live? If Slidin’ Go once snatched your dog out of traffic and you subsequently bought a Slidin’ Go keychain, are you and your family now under investigation?
Getting details on people like the CEO of Detnerat and the head of the Hearts & Minds Party is probably pretty straightforward; heck, investigating Kizuki Chitose’s publication history was probably a goldmine in and of itself. That sort of surveillance gets more complicated and difficult to justify—and to make credible to the reader—the further down the chain of command you go, though. Sooner or later, the HPSC would have had to make a call: knowing that they don’t have the time, freedom, and resources to perfectly get only and exactly everyone that’s a real threat, do they overcompensate or do they undercompensate?
You only have to look at Hero Society to know which answer they were going to go with.[36]
To be fair, undercompensating, while it clearly would have been easier on their strained resources, ran the risk of leaving threats out there to come back to bite them later. They likely thought that they’d done enough undercompensating for Shigaraki Tomura, compounded by the fact that apparently there hadn’t been enough done about Destro’s followers back in the day, either. I mean, better to grab everyone and then let the courts sort it out, right? Rather than risk innocents getting hurt?
Well, let’s talk about innocents. Innocents, and the costs of overcompensating.
Pictured: a man who was in daily close contact with the leader of the movement and who was at one point in time in possession of a copy of the movement's manifesto. (Chapter 218)
The problem with grabbing everyone in a group, even the most obviously PLF-aligned groups, is that there are always going to be both people who don’t seem to know anything because they’re very good at living double lives and aren’t particularly active on the recruitment front, and people who don’t seem to know anything because they legitimately don’t know anything.
The Gunga Villa is straightforward enough—on paper, it was probably reserved for a business retreat for four months, because you certainly wouldn’t want some random newlywed couple booked for a nice mountain honeymoon recognizing Shigaraki Tomura wandering around. Same story for the employees; the MLA wouldn’t have put the League up at the villa if there was a chance that anyone there would rat them out. So I think we can assume relatively fairly that anyone in the building the day of the conference is solidly implicated, whatever their claims might be otherwise.
Of course, plenty might well try to claim that they were just there for the vacation, or just started work last week and had no idea the place was a nest for conspiracy, but that was where Hawks spent most of his time, and most of the people at the villa presumably fought back against the heroes. It might be a complicated process, matching hero eyewitness testimony to every person there, but you can at least sort of see the path to it.
Other groups, however, are a lot less straightforward. Consider the following categories:
The Liberated Districts
As I discussed earlier, Deika was presumably a high watermark on societal saturation, but Deika still only counted 90% of the population as “Liberation Warriors, lying in wait.” That leaves 10% unaccounted for. So who are those 10%? Are they children?[37] Some children too young to know anything about the PLF, and some old enough to know but not yet old enough to be considered warriors for the cause? Are they instead elderly people, maybe remnants from when the MLA first started to infiltrate the town that have just never had enough close family or social life to get pulled into the Liberation Army by the usual vectors?
By far the worst option is if Trumpet’s 90% accounts for anyone even remotely connected to the MLA—that would mean one out of every ten people in Deika is legitimately completely ignorant of what the powers that be had brought in. How on earth are you supposed to tell those people apart from the other 90% when the heroes sweep in and arrest absolutely everyone? Or are we to believe that the HPSC had time to get in an agent to flash a covert L-sign at everyone in town and they only arrested people who visibly acknowledged it?
These problems only get worse for our hypothetical town that’s 70% PLF. That opens you up to far more people who have only recently started getting drawn in. Consider the disaffected twenty-something whose family has no idea what’s been keeping him out so late in the evenings. The young mother who met the nicest and most convincing people via the daycare, but whose husband is always out of town on business trips so she hasn’t had time to introduce him to anyone. The working parents who just joined up and whose kid, away at hero school, doesn’t know anything—yet.[38]
Evaluating these peoples’ social circles and financial history for other PLF attachments is going to turn up a ludicrous number of false positives unless the Commission can narrow down exactly when and where such people crossed paths with the ideology of Liberation. So many people would have been raised to it, people whose entire lives are suspect, but mistaking even one new recruit for a lifelong loyalist gives you exponentially more avenues to baselessly suspect people—and as established, the Commission just doesn’t have the time to be overly discerning.
Detnerat, Shoowaysha, and Feel Good Inc.
This is another line of attack that seems like it should be a bullseye, but is actually quite the opposite. Detnerat is a business that is run by the leader of the entire movement, yet the fact that not everyone who works there is a member of the MLA is one of the very first things we find out about them! Miyashita was something akin to a personal aide or secretary to Rikiya, someone Rikiya liked well enough that he was on the verge of introducing Miyashita to his other friends—and Miyashita didn’t know the first thing about his boss’s true affiliations. It’s patently obvious from that alone that not everyone at Detnerat is PLF, and it's likely that the numbers of the faithful are even thinner at Curious and Skeptic's outfits, where they're high-ranked executives but, crucially, not actually in charge.
This is, of course, complicated further by the fact that people who work at e.g. a publishing house are probably there because they agree with that publishing house’s politics, whether or not they know what’s going on behind the scenes. Ditto with Detnerat—certainly there would be people there who just needed a job and could charm their way through an interview without an inner passion for the work, but loads of people probably work there because they legitimately believe in the company’s ethos. So how do you tell people who have relatively radical personal politics without having any idea about the terrorism apart from the people who are absolutely PLF/ex-MLA but who are now lying about it because their organization's cover is blown and the response to that is, “Well, time to go back underground!”
The Hearts & Minds Party
Membership of this party would seem to be a good indicator, but using it that way too unquestioningly is also very flawed. This is because the HMP particularly is probably an excellent recruitment tool for the MLA/PLF. The note above about having radical political beliefs but still being ignorant about the planned acts of terror is especially true for the HMP. The Commission cannot just pull the voting records and arrest all of them because plenty of them are going to be totally ignorant of what was really going on with the heart of the party, only joining up because they believed in the kinds of things the HMP was platforming on—less repressive quirk use laws, prison reform, very possibly issues like the abolishment of the legal category “villain” or greater social safety nets. Just because someone votes for those things, doesn’t mean they know about or would support the MLA’s violent extremism or the PLF’s anarchic goals.
So at what level of initiation does the Commission call a cut-off? How long does someone have to have been voting straight-ticket HMP for them to be considered condemned by that association?
Over and over again, the question arises: how did the heroes and the police distinguish the initiated from the uninitiated? And given that Japan’s legal system at least nominally requires that guilt be proven, what are they going to do when huge numbers of those people claim innocence?
The Presupposition of Guilt
Let’s take a few minutes to circle back to what I talked about earlier, the presumption of guilt and how it relates to arrests, convictions, and the perception of arrestees in Japan. This is going to swerve hard back towards real-life Japan issues for a bit, but it is exceptionally relevant when examining what’s likely to happen to the people arrested in the raids, innocent and guilty alike, so thanks in advance for bearing with me.
In Japan, the rate of conviction is extraordinarily high—if you’re in anime fandom and active in social justice circles, you may have seen the tumblr posts about the country’s famed 99.9% conviction rate.[39] There are a range of explanations for this. Defenders argue that, compared to police in many other countries, police in Japan are very cautious and don't move to prosecute unless a case is all but airtight; thus, many who are arrested may well be released without charge if there is even the slightest doubt that the case will hold up in court. One can easily see truth to this by looking at the numbers on how many people are arrested in Japan versus how many are actually charged: Wikipedia notes (albeit without citation) that in the U.S., roughly 42% of arrests in felony cases result in prosecution, while in Japan the figure is only 17.5%.
Conversely, critics note that a major feature of convictions in Japan is the confession, and confessions can be coerced, particularly in the sorts of conditions that those imprisoned in pre-trial detention are kept—no legal representation, no contact with their families, loved ones or employers, no requirement that they be informed about what they’re being charged with, potential weeks upon weeks kept in isolation, sessions of questioning that can extend for most of the day.
There have also been cases in which confessions have been found to be falsified, for example by having the suspect sign a paper and then filling in or altering other details after the fact.
There are some other factors about confessions to be aware of here:
In Japan, it is not legally permissible for a suspect to be convicted solely based on their confession. The constitutional provision in this regard is something called himitsu no bakuro, the “revelation of secret.” The revelation of secret is something in the confession that is factually verifiable and which, at the time of the confession, only the suspect could have known. Common examples are things like the location of a previously undiscovered body or the time and location where a weapon used in the crime was purchased. The majority of verdicts that are overturned in Japan are overturned because of issues with a confession.
Sentencing is also very lenient compared to the U.S., particularly if the suspect was cooperative with police and admitted guilt (seen as showing remorse). Thus you wind up with a situation in which suspects believe that they’ll lose a case if they go to trial (because practically everyone does) and prosecutors—rather more aware of the weaknesses in a case than a confused and vulnerable layman—don’t want to bring a shaky case to trial, and thus both parties are invested in whatever will get the suspect out with a minimum of effort. The result of this is a high number of people released on “suspended prosecution,” which is an admission of guilt, but with a prosecutor's decision to show lenience while still establishing precedent for possible later offenses warranting more severe punishment. This is a particularly common result for first-time offenders, especially in non-violent crimes.
Note that suspended prosecution is not at all the same thing as being released for lack of evidence; a suspect is conceding their guilt by accepting the arrangement. However, many suspects who the police might not be confident in convicting are known to sign confessions and accept the arrangement regardless, because, along with fear for their livelihoods, it’s known that judges tend to view extended time in detention as a sign of guilt. Also too, if admitting guilt is seen as showing remorse, then maintaining one’s innocence is often perceived as a lack of remorse—leading to fears that fighting the charges will result not only in defeat, but also in harsher sentencing!
All of these factors combine into a problem with perception of guilt that feeds on itself endlessly at all levels. Let me use a run-on sentence to summarize: the general public views anyone who is even arrested as probably guilty, because the police are seen as generally only moving on those who are guilty, because police specifically only prosecute those who they can all but prove are guilty, but guilt can be “proven” by a sufficiently detailed confession, and while confessions are required to have some corroborating evidence, they can easily be falsified and may well be offered up with minimal resistance because the suspect is also convinced that judges will only be harsher on them if they put up a fight because suspects also believe that they will be convicted at trial because everyone knows the conviction rate is unbelievably high.
Japan likes to think of itself as a “safe” country, which is in large part why its deeply concerning arrest and detainment procedures have held up repeatedly in court. These things help keep people safe, after all, and who wouldn't want people to be safe?
Returning, then, to the matter of My Hero Academia and the Paranormal Liberation Front mass arrest, I don’t think it’s overstating things to claim that the dehumanization of villains and the glamorization of heroes has probably exacerbated these problems.
Cruel punishments are illegal under Article 36 of the Japanese constitution? But what if someone really, really deserves it, though? (Chapter 94)
You can see that willingness to shrug off civil rights violations as long as it means safety in the symbol All Might represents, a hero who is there to beat up baddies, not ask questions about why they're being bad. Ditto Tartarus, where the Bad People get put, regardless of whether their Bad really warrants so awful a punishment or whether the severity of such a punishment serves as an effective deterrent.[40]
As to the presupposition of guilt, if a hero thinks they saw someone Doing A Bad, and confidently testifies to that effect, who’s going to doubt them? It’s blunt to the point of headache-inducing that Midoriya Izuku, the boy who will be the greatest hero, who’s treated by the story as if he’s the first person in history to think about “saving” a “villain,” doesn’t even start to think about such a thing until he literally experiences a psychic impression of a five-year-old crying within the heart of Shigaraki Tomura.
At the press conference in Chapter 306, it’s illustrated numerous times that huge portions of society don’t particularly care about Dabi’s accusations. They don’t ask for Hawks to face justice for the murder he openly admits to committing; they don’t ask for apologies for the heroes’ wrongdoings. They ask for heroes to make them feel safe. Even if it means lying to them; even if it means asking Endeavor to go out there and “take down” his firstborn son. People are uneasy about the accusations, certainly, but what they want is not for heroes to take responsibility for their actions, to atone for them, but rather to deny that there’s any truth to the accusations at all.
This is not a society that, in the wake of Gigantomachia’s rampage, is going to be open to the possibility that some people caught up in the mass arrest are legitimately innocent and that everyone, even villains, deserves to be afforded the full extent of their rights.
The Dissolution of the HMP
Speaking of rights, let’s go over one that we can immediately see has been flagrantly violated in the manga compared to the state of real-life Japanese law—the overnight dissolution of the Hearts & Minds Party.
As discussed earlier, it's unlikely that every member is a dyed-in-the-wool terrorist. There are bound to be perfectly innocent people in the country who just so happen to agree with the HMP’s campaign platforms. Now, all of those people are going to turn on the evening news[41] and be blindsided with the news that their political party has just been dissolved and some enormous percentage of its membership arrested. This was not publicized or forewarned; it just happened, in a matter of hours. Do you think those people—people who are members of a party that specifically opposes the current status quo—are just going to nod and say, “Oh, wow, that sucks, but who am I to question the wisdom of the government and its agents? Time to find a new political party, I guess!” Would you?
I can assure you that you wouldn’t, because let me be clear: under current Japanese law, what we’re told happened to the HMP is unbelievably illegal—not only because they were dissolved at all, but particularly the speed with which that dissolution was carried out.
I mentioned earlier, in the section “Japan and Illegal Organizations,” that there were methods by which organizations can be dissolved. Now I’d like to look at that in more detail.
Any organization that’s been flagged as a potential threat—that “terroristic subversive activity” designation—can come under investigation from the Public Security Intelligence Agency. Their recommendations are then passed up for evaluation by a member of the Public Security Examination Commission,[42] who can pass a variety of prohibitions—the bans I mentioned earlier on printing activities, public assembly, and a few others. These prohibitions are issued in periods lasting up to six months, at which point they are re-evaluated and can be dismissed or renewed.
If the Public Security Examination Commission decides that the comparatively soft-pedal restrictions on freedom of the press or freedom of assembly are not sufficient to deter the organization in question from committing terroristic subversive activity continuously/repeatedly in the future, the Commission can elect to order the organization dissolved. This revokes their rights mentioned above entirely, and further stipulates that they liquidate their assets,[42] and that no member of or representative for the organization can take actions in the organization’s interest (e.g. things like opening bank accounts or buying property). The only exception to the latter restriction is a designated representative for the organization who is granted the right to manage its assets in the process of overseeing the dissolution.
Any of the designations above can be appealed, but dissolution is permanent until specifically overturned.
Now, it might well seem that the HMP could be targeted under the “advocating for subversive terroristic activity” criteria, but here’s the problem with that: that criteria is based on the organization engaging in/advocating for such terroristic subversiveness as an organizational activity—that is, the activity in question is a foundational, core aspect of the organization’s endeavors. And I simply don’t think that’s how the HMP operates. To reiterate, I believe they’re a recruitment tool, meant to siphon people into the MLA (later the PLF) proper, but otherwise a perfectly legitimate political party with real political aims, outreach, goals, and so on.
Of course, I can easily see the anger over all the destruction leading the Ministry of Justice to being heavy-handed in its response to the Paranormal Liberation Front and any organization even suspected of being associated with it, of which the HMP is the most prominent. I could also simply be wrong about what the HMP says at their rallies. Regardless of either of those possibilities, however, there is still the matter of the timetable.
There was a period in Japanese history that organizations—political parties especially—could be dissolved on the spot. The Meiji Constitution granted that right to the Minister of Home Affairs, a Cabinet position appointed by the Emperor, and indeed, any number of socialist, communist, or labor-oriented parties were banned and dissolved within scant months of their establishment for their alleged leftist or subversive leanings.[44] The Farmer-Labor Party of 1925 was dissolved three hours after its establishment! So clearly there’s some precedent—or at least, there was. Like many things, the power to summarily dissolve organizations did not survive the Meiji Constitution’s transformation into its modern-day incarnation after World War II.
The Subversive Activities Prevention Act, the same one that lays out the causes for dissolving an organization, also details a legally mandated process by which this dissolution is carried out. Most prominently, organizations cannot just be dissolved with no notice, no chance to defend themselves. Any disposition curtailing an organization's activities, from the bans on their printed material to complete dissolution, is required to be announced both via the government's official gazette[45] and, if the residence of a chief officer or representative of the organization is known, also via written notification. These notifications must be sent at least seven days before the hearing date—a hearing which, further, the organization has the legal right to send agents to in order to present statements and evidence in their own favor, as well as examine the evidence being presented against them.
This clearly did not happen. Bare minimum, Hanabata Koku, as leader of the Hearts & Minds Party, should have had an address the Commission could get ahold of, especially given all the snooping they so obviously must have been doing to unearth the extent of the PLF’s reach.
It’s instructive, in this regard, to look to history. To wit, I’ve said a lot about how gun-shy Japan is to dissolve organizations outright, thanks to its history of governmental repression—but how true is that really? If the government really wanted to, couldn’t it just decide to crack down on something and ride out the controversy? Has it done as much before?
To put all this into proper perspective: no. It hasn’t. The government has invoked the Subversive Activities Prevention Act against a group rather than individuals only once in all the time since the act was passed in 1952.
It was against Aum Shinrikyo, and it didn’t happen until seven months after the subway attacks. Even with nearly unanimous desire to prosecute, even though Aum had been under police surveillance prior to the attacks, even though lawsuits against them were and had been ongoing, meaning at least some measure of investigation was being done openly, it still took seven months to gather the evidence, submit it to the Public Safety Examination Commission, allow Aum their appeal, and enact the ruling. That’s because, in a society ordered by democratic processes, these things take time.[46]
But the HMP? No one who wasn’t a member knew about their affiliation with the League of Villains—much less an underground army!—until Hawks got the word out, and the Hero Public Safety Commission had to be rigorously careful that news of their investigations not leak because they knew they had their own moles to deal with. So far as we know, the Hearts & Minds Party remained a legit organization right up until the day of the raid. It is functionally impossible under current Japanese law for them to have been dissolved in the scant few hours between the commencement of the raid and the attack on Tartarus in which the two guards mention the dissolution.
Even if the relevant agency in the Ministry of Justice submitted their paperwork the absolute minimum of time in advance, there is no way the HMP and Trumpet—and therefore Re-Destro and the League and everyone else—shouldn’t have known that the government was moving against them. The only answer is that the Ministry of Justice was evading its legal obligation to notify both the public[47] and the HMP itself, or that the Japanese government, in the wake of the Advent of the Exceptional, throttled back on constitutionally guaranteed freedoms exactly the way human rights activists today are always warning about.
Stigma and Recidivism
In the same way that In Custody is not (or shouldn't be) a magic status effect preventing villains from escaping from police, In Jail is not an endgame state. Most people in prison are not there for life (or death) sentences, particularly not in Japan. Even if the majority of the PLF gets stuck in prison for decades, there will, eventually, be an “after” for them. So what happens “after”?
Well, like many countries, Japan has made efforts in the modern day to offer training classes and parole officers to help reacclimate ex-convicts into society once they’ve done their time, but it remains a difficult process, and the country has a relatively high recidivism rate. Given the stigma against criminals—present to a degree in all countries, but particularly exacerbated in Japan—it is frequently difficult for released prisoners to find stable housing or employment—both key factors helping to prevent recidivism.
So does MHA’s Japan have similar programs? Well, it’s hard to say, given that the only prison we’ve actually seen is Tartarus, which is obviously a poor model to base a lot of judgement on—save, of course, that any country that could develop a place like Tartarus is a country with an appalling deficit of care for criminals’ human rights, which doesn’t bode well for their other prisons.
Speaking of things that don’t bode well, though, we have two obvious examples in the canon of how convicted criminals fare: both Gentle Criminal and Twice are, it’s suggested, prosecuted for their foundational fuck-ups—Tobita for obstructing public duties[48] and Jin for his traffic infraction. It’s unclear whether they went to prison or not—given the relative lenience shown to first-time offenders, I’m inclined to think probably not—but even given these very mild offenses, their lives were turned completely upside-down, and no apparent efforts were made to help them through chaotic periods that saw Tobita apparently disowned and Jin losing his job.
Consider the harsh reactions they garnered and the apparent lack of assistance from any social structure despite the relative mildness of their wrongs, and things start to look very bad indeed for the PLF. Will there be any steps taken at all to deradicalize them? Does taking such steps seem likely, given what we've seen of MHA’s legal and carceral systems thus far? Further, if there is no plan for deradicalization, how exactly do the heroes propose to stop this from happening again (and again, and again and again and again)?
Here’s another alarming thought: what will be done with the children? There’s no way around the fact that the MLA, and therefore the PLF, included children[49]—and I don’t mean it in the tumblr sense of describing a sixteen-year-old as “a literal child,” though there would be some of those, too. No, I mean the grade-schoolers, the toddlers, the babies. Maybe some of them will have non-PLF family they could hypothetically go to, but as I have written about in the past, there’s a very real bias about orphans and other children separated from their parents in Japan, and even blood ties are not always enough to overcome that stigma. Alternative care is in a woefully sorry state as it is in Japan, and this would only be compounded for PLF kids—damned first for their criminal associations and again for being the children society doesn’t want.
However many thousands of them that may be.[50]
So here again, a question recurs. Where before it was, “How do you tell the guilty from the innocent?” here it’s, “How do you stop the societal backlash from ruining countless peoples’ lives both now and for decades into the future?” What kind of stigma will all these people—rank and file who come out of prison deradicalized and ready to rejoin society, children who were too young to understand why heroes took their parents away, ignorant family and friends who just lost loved ones to a massive government sweep, innocents swept up in the net and imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit—going to be facing? How long, then, before that stigma sees them radicalized in turn?
You cannot sweep 115,000 people under the rug and not expect there to be a stain—and given the narrative themes of the rest of My Hero Academia thus far, it’s absurd to think that’s even an option.
Next time: how scrapping the ex-MLA portions of the PLF undermines MHA's narrative integrity.

Footnotes (Part Three)
[26] And in the legal sense, murder in the second degree.
[27] For the monstrous callousness of his comments in that conversation, said guard is immediately murdered by karma All For One. I very much hope we ever get Shishikura’s opinion on this, because I’m pretty sure the guard was his dad.
[28] Who, in Chapter 35 of that series, leads a group of police firing rubber bullets at an active villain, emphasizing that the police are trained in non-lethal tactics, and any escalation from that is not to be taken lightly.
[29] Indeed, you could make a fair argument that that’s exactly why the manga included the Noumu to begin with, though the lower-tier ones wind up captured as often as not.
[30] Vigilantes, Chapter 74.
[31] This sidesteps the matter of “rescue heroes,” those who focus on disaster response and evacuation. Note, however, that this is not a categorization that pits those heroes against non-quirk-abusing civilians. Non-quirk-abusing civilians are criminals for police to deal with, not heroes of any stripe.
[32] This would be in keeping with real-world de-escalation tactics. So for e.g. the purse-snatcher in Chapter 1, where we’re told he didn’t use his quirk until he’d been backed into a corner, I would bet that Kamuy Woods or whoever confronted the thief didn’t start actually using their quirk on the man until he went into giant mode. That is anyway a kinder interpretation than noting that he was a heteromorph and would have been using his quirk automatically just by virtue of existing in public.
[33] After digging him out from under the stairway it had a teenager drop on top of him, I mean. Did he even have much of a chance to use Incite at the villa, do you think?
[34] Though given that literally every member of the MLA we’ve met is addressed solely by their code name, I don’t for a second believe he could have gotten real names out of everyone he talked to.
[35] And judges virtually always grant warrants. It’s that presumption of guilt thing again.
[36] But that panel of the normally taciturn Edgeshot shouting at a bunch of high schoolers not to let a single person escape is pretty damn telling too.
[37] 14% of the Japanese populace is under 14 years old, so that’s not too far off, though I’d be inclined to think, based on everything we know about them, that the MLA was having more kids than Japan at large, not fewer.
[38] This should have been Uraraka, by the way.
[39] An exaggeration, but only by a handful of tenths of a percentage point.
[40] Though until recently, it’s served as a great check on recidivism, clearly.
[41] You know, assuming that they weren't all arrested in the middle of their workday or cleaning house or going to university or what have you.
[42] Both are among the agencies that make up the Ministry of Justice. I’d be willing to bet that, in-universe, the Hero Public Safety Commission is also under the Ministry of Justice umbrella.
[43] The funds are then remitted to the National Treasury.
[44] Though one thing to note for our current context is that, even when those parties were dissolved, it did not automatically follow that any duly elected representatives were expelled from office. Unless there was legal reason to remove them, any elected officials were simply rendered “Independents” rather than being affiliated with a political party. The constitution stipulates that Diet members can only be expelled by a two-thirds majority vote, though in such circumstances, most politicians choose to step down from their positions before it comes to such drastic measures.
[45] A newspaper or other bulletin officially authorized by the government to publish public and legal notices—in Japan these days, it’s an online site/newsletter.
[46] And they’re often still controversial with progressive activists, as the invocation against Aum was even contemporaneously! Incidentally, Aum’s dissolution lasted for a mere two years before the government panel ultimately declined to make it permanent.
[47] And if you don’t think the HMP had someone watching the official Japanese government website, you’re clearly not taking them seriously.
[48] And possibly more besides; the dialogue in question trails off in a way that suggests that the obstruction charge is only the first in a list.
[49] Start at Yotsubashi Rikiya being inducted when he was still in schoolboy shorts and continue right on up through the people we see in school uniforms in various mass battle scenes involving the MLA rank and file.
[50] And it easily could be thousands. If, say, even 10% of the PLF are minors, that’d be well over 10,000 kids, and thus we’re right back to overcrowding problems, except this time they’re about Japan’s child services programs, and the last thing they need is a new group of kids that numbers a full third of the number of children already in their care in real-life Japan. Naturally, the number only climbs if you think Re-Destro wasn’t counting kids in his initial reckoning of the MLA’s membership.

It’s time to understand the different types of sexual violence. The content of this post may be triggering to some, so please read at your own discretion.
Personally, I was grateful to see this on my timeline because having been assaulted myself on multiple occasions, I was able to understand the true gravity of my situation. I had been raped. And I didn’t know it until I saw this post. And coincidentally, that same day I saw this post a friend to me, and after analyzing everything we realized he had been sexually harassed and assaulted. These definitions are necessary and must be known. Otherwise, victims may be left thinking they’re just overreacting over a silly situation when really they’ve gone through something quite traumatic. Please remember to get consent. Even if you think what you’re doing is just a joke or you’re just “playing around.” It’s not funny. You’re hurting people. Get consent.

Understanding the Differences between Types of Sexual Violence
*Content warning: this post will describe several different forms of sexual violence including rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and molestation.*
What is Sexual Violence?
Sexual violence is sexual activity where “consent [is] not obtained or freely given.” It is often used as an umbrella term and includes rape and sexual assault. Sexual violence affects individuals from every community; anyone can experience or perpetrate sexual violence.
Sexual Harassment:
Sexual harassment can be defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature. Sexual harassment can include in-person contact such as:
Inappropriate or uninvited touching
Sexually suggestive gestures
Catcalls and ogling
It can also include the following:
Non-verbal gestures of actions
Harassment through electronic media (social media, calling/texting, emailing, etc.)
Sexual Assault:
Sexual assault can be generally defined as unwanted sexual contact. It occurs when there is a lack of consent between both parties. It can take a multitude of forms, including the following.
Rape or attempted rape
Any unwanted sexual contact or threats
Factors that influence capabilities and incapabilities of giving consent can include age, physical capacity, and mental capacity.
Molestation
Molestation can be defined as a touch or attack towards someone in a sexual manner against their wishes. Child molestation is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. It can take many forms including:
Engaging in sexual activities with a child
Indecent exposure
Child grooming
Child sexual exploitation
Most cases of molestation occur by a family member (incest), family friend, babysitter, or neighbor.
Rape
Rape can be defined as unlawful sexual intercourse or vaginal, oral, or anal penetration without the consent of the victim. It can be met with threats or other methods of violence.
Statutory rape can defined as sexual intercourse or other sexual relations with a person under the legal age of consent.
Individuals of any age, gender, or sexuality can experience and be survivors of rape.
Consent
Consent is an agreement or permission expressed through affirmative, voluntary words or actions that are mutually understandable to all parties involved, to engage in a specific sexual act a specific time.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time
Consent cannot be forced, threatened, or compelled by deception or intimidation
Consent is specific; saying yes to one activity doesn’t mean you’ve said yes to others
Consent is never indicated through previous behavior, clothing choice, or where you go
Consent must always be clearly communicated
Steps to Reduce Sexual Violence Before it Starts
Encourage social norms that protect against sexual violence such as mobilizing men as allies and using the bystander approach, an approach that makes the transition from being passive bystanders to being empowered and active ones, and contributes to a change in the social acceptability of harassment, abuse, or violence.
Teach skills to lessen sexually violent behaviors such as promoting healthy sexuality and encouraging safe dating and relationship skills to teens.
Establish safe and protective environments by improving safety and monitoring in schools and reinforcing safety policies in the workplace.
Support victims and survivors through victim-centered services and treatment centers, providing treatment for at-risk families and children to reduce negative behavior including sex offending.

You didn’t know. You had zero idea about his little “watch team” over you. Hell, you seemed so happy to recieve that gift and that right there masked up everything. Everyone got one... if you remember. What you didn’t know was that everyone was in on it, including the now deceased Kang Minlee.
It was his idea. Sungmin of course. The moment you ran into Jungkook that very first day of school, he knew what was going to happen. The only reason he knew was because of his parents. His parents were in connection with Won-Shik and it made him mad like hell when he over-heard them talking in the study room. You see, his parents were persuaded by him. That walking bastard mafia man. He ruled all of South Korea, some of the police units work under him now so there’s an easy way out if things get caught up. Won-Shik wanted Jungkook to attend one of the most prestigous schools that just so happened to be owned by Sungmin’s parents.
In return of allowing Jungkook to attend, they’d recieve not only Bangtan protection, but Won-Shik’s protection as well. Why would one need any of those two though? Only because things can get real hectic with other rivalrys and threats from other notorious gangs. So far so good though, for right now atleast.
What nobody knows is that Sungmin is Jungkook’s half brother. Sungmin only knows Jungkook as his childhood bestfriend. To Sungmin’s knowledge his birth mom is the maid that took care of him while living in and cleaning Won-Shik’s and Eunji’s home. That night was a cold night. He’ll never forget it. The way the blood on him from damn near killing Jungkook made him feel powerful, yet disgusting. The blood dripped from his knife and fingers like a bloody nose, making him want to vomit.
At that moment, he wondered why and how can someone be so sane and happy enough to do such a thing for a living, like Won-Shik himself. Since then he vowed to never hurt anyone else like that again.
Boy did that only get so far.
Here he is now, plotting to kill Jungkook solely because he knew that he had killed Minlee, the person who played a great pawn in his plan. You didn’t know that though. Instead it fucking dusgusts him that Jungkook get’s to walk around free and head held high, including making you somewhat his girl, all without you knowing the bloody, cold truth. You’re so oblivous of his fuck-boy ways that every single day that passes by Sungmin cannot stand the sight of you and him together.
So what does he do in return?
Form an alliance with your one and only, father.
It wasn’t hard to track him down. No not at all. You see, you’d gave out too much information that night. Taiwan. That’s what you said when you had asked him. It only confirmed that who he had been talking to prior, which was your father, that it was actually him. Before asking you that question, he’d already contacted him via email and phone call. Sungmin gained that information by also tapping into your macbook. When you guys group facetimed after you spending a drunk, drugged night at Jungkook’s is when he did it. All right while you all were on facetime.
Crystal didn’t notice it though. He had did it right before she sat down next to him to join the conversation. While you guys talked, the software ran it’s course through the background of the call. Information was gained after the call ended. He went through the call log and emails of yours and found everything he needed to contact your father. He was happy about it. In fact, he thanked Sungmin for telling him that you were getting involved with Jungkook, his rival’s son.
The two of them ended up talking further about who Sungmin was and how he knew what Jungkook does. That led to them forming a protection alliance for your safety, but also for Sungmin’s benefit in taking Jungkook down too. You see at first your father wanted to do things with the law and so did Sungmin. That is, until Jungkook killed Minlee and now it’s blood for blood.
So here he is, watching your every location via the tracker bracelet he got you. Everyone has one, it’s the group bracelet he bought for you guys. Yours specifically had a tracker installed in it as it was an agreement that him and your father made.
The guest who’d soon be here in Sungmin’s apartment made things even more riskier. Namjoon came over brought an unexpected guest with him. The pure and utter shock across his face when he opened the door to greet, what was only supposed to be Namjoon whom he didn’t like anyways, was unforgetable.
There she is, in the flesh. Hair long and curled with her signature dimples. She hadn’t aged a bit. Still slim and a bit shorter than him. When she says his name and opens her arms with tears in her eyes, that’s all it takes for him to pull her inside and break down crying in her arms. Kim Eunji. The lady that took good care of him when his mother was busy or couldn’t afford something. The lady that was always happy and always defending him from Won-Shik when the two boys would get into a little trouble. She treated him like her very own, because he is her own.
Eomeoni.” He chokes out, tears falling down his face like a river while holding onto her tight. The two hold onto each other, Eunji crying and praising him on how tall and grown up he’s gotten.
Holding onto her makes Sungmin feel like he’s just a kid again. The way she would hold him when he got hurt or when he was scolded, it all made his emotions pour out of him. It’s been years, and he’d missed her along with his other mother. Her makeup stains his fresh white colored t-shirt, but he doesn’t mind it. It feels all to real to him right now.
Crystal soon joins the room, furrowing her eyebrows at Namjoon who was just as confused as he was. Instead of saying something, the two let Sungmin and Eunji have their moment. When all the emotions are pour out and the outbursts of crying stops, they both pull away from each other.
“ How do you know her?” Namjoon says, leaning against the apartment wall. Crystal hurriedly hands Eunji the box of tissues that was on the kitchen island.
She thanks her, and carefully dries her tears, “ He’s Jungkook’s bestfriend.”
Crystal and Namjoon’s eyes almost bulge out their sockets at the sound of that causing Eunji confusion of their sudden reaction. In no doubt is it completely awkward for Sungmin right now. Crystal nor Namjoon know his past.
“ Bestfriends? They hate each others entire existence.” Crystal plops herself ontop of the island counter. Sungmin shoots her a glare in which confuses her even more.
Eunji looks back at Sungmin concerned, “ Hate each other? Why? You guys were so close before I left Chung H-”
“ We aren’t friends anymore.” He quickly says, eyes pacing around the room. The last thing he wants is for Crystal and Namjoon find out his real name. Let alone, who he really is.
“ Chung? Chung what?” It’s too late. Crystal, who got herself down from the counter upon hearing the surname, crosses her arms waiting to be answered.
Namjoon stands next to her, also waiting to be answered but already having his speculations. The air is as thick as a brick with the mood quickly turning from happy to questionable. He wasn’t prepared for this. Sungmin completely had forgotten his real name for so long because he was used to his new one he made for himself.
“ Nothing.” Eunji interrupts, glancing at Sungmin to get the memo. “ I made a mistake. I just mixed his name up with my nephew. I’m sorry.”
The apology is taken, and it’s a relief that they both buy it and don’t ask another question about it. Eunji glances at Sungmin again but this time with hurt eyes. She gave him that name. Chung Hee. Jeon Chung Hee would’ve been his actual name if she’d let him have the Jeon’s last name. She didn’t allow that because he wasn’t his child and she wanted Sungmin to have nothing to do with the Jeon’s malicious ways and name.
It hurt to know that he changed his name. Of course she wants to know the reason behind it, but right now isn’t the time to ask.
Namjoon sighs, sitting down on one of the couches. “ Sungmin.. I need to.. ask you a favor.” His voice is uneasy as the rest join him in the living room. Sungmin makes sure to sit next to Eunji, who pats his thigh ensuring him he’s protected.
“ Crystal is on board with it. I just want to make sure you are too.”
Hell no. Sungmin bites his lip in anger turning towards Crystal. She isn’t allowed to make decisions by herself, as because the decisions she makes are always risky and dangerous. His adoptive parents made sure to make him the one in charge when they both decided to move out. Being her older brother and all, he knows that it’s his duty to protect her from such alarming situations. Also an alarming person who just so happens to be apart of the mafia he oh so hates so much and wishes she would leave him already, Kim Namjoon.
“ You aren’t allowed decis-” His growing temper is cut off by Crystal, “ I can make my own decisions by myself. I’m fucking old enough!” She snaps.
“ Watch your mouth.” Eunji says, shaking her head at her. Crystal apologizes politely to her. “ What do you mean with this decision?” Sungmin, who’s clearly too pissed to even look at Crystal, says.
Namjoon shoots a look at Eunji who then nods her head in approval. It only rises more suspicions from Namjoon. His second mother coming in cahoots with him couldn’t be good. Does she even know what him and his boys do?
“ Eunji needs a place to stay for a little while.. while her penthouse is being set up.” Namjoon blurts, eyes shifting between the two of them. The news catches Sungmin off-guard to where his breath hitches upon exhaling.
Penthouse? A place to stay? To make things worse of it all, in his very own apartment. The risks and danger it would put all three of them in if Won-Shik finds out is surely to be gruesome. Especially if it’s Eunji and her first born, bastard, son.
But he couldn’t let the lady who took care of him even at the slightest small cut on his little leg when he was just a small boy, be abandoned and at danger in the middle of Seoul. He loves her way too much and her motherly figure around him and always have. Sungmin inhales again, throwing his head back in frustration, then releasing.
It wouldn’t hurt to keep her hidden for a couple of days. Besides, he’ll kill anyone if they touch her or Crystal the same way he almost did Jungkook.
“ Fine. I’ll let her stay.”
Relief is felt all across the room. He takes a good look at Crystal and then Namjoon. Their apartment is only two bedrooms, and one of them would surely have to give up their room. “ She can stay in Crystal’s room.”
That devilish smirk runs across Sungmins face. Thats her punishment for making decisions by herself. He would give up his room in a heartbeat for Eunji, but he also needed his space in the room to plot and plan quietly.
“ You’ll be staying in Crystal’s room.”
As if she heard the devil speaking herself, she glares at Sungmin’s sudden saying. Sungmin pays the girl no mind, smiling at Eunji and pointing towards the room. “ Lee Sungmin! Have you lost your mind?” Crystal semi-yells.
“ She can stay in your room. You can stay at our parents.”
Namjoon laughs a little, “ Why can’t she stay with me?”
“ Yeah, I’ll stay with Namjoon and his pa-”
Sungmin roars, “ Over my dead body.”
Namjoon rolls his eyes at Sungmin while Crystal pouts her infamous face at him. As if Sungmin would ever let Namjoon take her away for the night. It’s bad enough he has to hear them every fucking weekend talking and.. doing other digusting things in the apartment. Nevertheless, at-least he knows she’s safe and near him.
Whereas for you, you are still on the constant supervision of both Sungmin and Jungkook. Especially, Jeon Jungkook. On the way to the market, he recieved a call. A call that just made things worse as it was already getting late at night. But, when an heir recieves an important call he’s to take it and do as told. So he does. Those grey contacts are popped in and black hat hangs low with his matching mask. Soon enough, that deed is done.
On the way back from the market after picking up several things such as ramen, juices, your favorite strawberry cookies, and of course the Plan B, he notices your mother’s car parked along the street outside your house. Parking his lamborghini a block away, he picks up his phone to shoot you a text asking what to do. As he awaits your reply, something seems off to him when he gazes up at your window from his car and see’s three figures in your room.
Three figures..
Three fig-
Jungkook’s eyes go wide. It can’t be. Of course he’d show up at the wrong moment. The entirely wrong moment. At this very second, Jungkook knows your danger is now on full alert and active. The phone call he’d regret getting could be made any second. Won-Shik has to know that he’s here, your dad. There’s no way possible that man could walk in Korea freely without one of his workers knowing. He thought he had a bit more time to spare, but now things are about to get messy.
The main goal right now is to deliver the pregnancy pill to you, cause there’s no way he’s having any sort of kid running around a year from now. Jungkook sighs, sitting back in the driver seat and massages his head. Still, with Won-Shik barking up his ass, and now your dad has returned as well, no amount of stress could top this. Time has begun, and your life is now pending.
The sudden ringing of his phone takes him out his trance. Casper. His anxiety kicks in, staring at the calling number. With each vibration his body trembles a bit more. Casper doesn’t usually call unless it’s urgent. He texts, and occasionally just shows up to Jungkook wherever he is. The call cannot be good.
With trembling fingers, Jungkook presses the answer button and it automatically connects via bluetooth to his lamborghini. “ We need a plan Jungkook and we need it fucking fast.”
Jungkook throws his head back shaking his head in the process. He isn’t ready for it. Not ready to play the game of life or death with you. He’s so roped into you that he can’t even fathom something happening to you. You complete him. That missing hole in his heart, you applied your tough love yet sweet actions that patched him right on up. For someone to ride things out on a risk, and addicted to the adrenaline rush on life and getting anything he wants and everything he wants, it’s clear to admit he’s in love with you. You challenged him, he accepted it without knowing the outcome. He came in with a plan to destroy, but came out with pure love.
He’ll be damned if someone is going to take that away.
“ What does he know already.” Jungkook says, reffering to his father. “ Yoongi told him that you fell in love with your target. He also got the word that her dad has returned. It’s not looking good Jungkook..”
The main question is how did Won-Shik know before him. Yoongi betraying him has another fucking thing coming. “ I don’t know Casper. I can’t just kidnap her and take her far far away. It’s not realistic.” He sighs angrily.
“ I’ll do it.”
Jungkook furrows his eyesbrows at the comment. Casper never has did such a thing before. Truth is, Casper sees how much Jungkook cares for you. Jungkook doesn’t treat other girls like you do, let alone even letting you inside his home. Yeah he knew you two used to bicker 24/7 but the love that came after that he knows for sure Jungkook is whipped. The way Jungkook would rant and talk to Casper confirmed it for him. The nights you two would bicker, Casper was there listening to Jungkook and he knew puppy love when he spotted it. You though, you’d go a long way with life and Jungkook in it would essentially better him.
“ How are you going to hide her in the midst of all this? He’s out for her and her dad now. She isn’t the type to just go along with things. She asks too many questions. Yn also doesn’t know you that we-”
Casper cuts him off, “ We bonded a bit. I think she trusts me. Just trust me on this. I can take her to the villa and quarantine her till due time while you and the boys get this sorted out.”
The villa. Jungkook had completely forgotten about it. His mother left it to him, it used to be their get-away home. Only Jungkook and Sungmin knows about it because she used to take the boys there on the hot summer weekends. The ocean breeze gave them relief and time away from Won-Shik. The only reason he knows she left it to him is because of the documents that were found when he was the only one cleaning her things out and putting them away safely.
“ Casper this is risky..” Jungkook’s uneasy voice slips right through. Something could easily go wrong with this. “ I don’t have the slightest clue of how I’m gonna sort this out.”
“ Jungkook, do you love her?”
“ Yes.” No hesitation at all.
“ Then you’d save her before she gets murdered right infront of you.”
He’s right. Those words set off the switch inside him. He’s no longer uneasy, but blood thirsty to kill whatever gets in the way of you and him. His eyes dialate and that sharp jaw he has locks in. Fuck Harley. Fuck Won-Shik, and fuck anybody else who wants to play this goddamn game. You don’t have shit to do with this. Hell, Won-Shik should have just gave up a long damn time ago. It’s been years. Jungkook had always been annoyed through this entire mission that he had to be the one to finish what Won-Shik couldn’t figure out. The man doesn’t fucking let up at all.
Nevertheless, if the mission is completed the way Won-Shik wants it, then he’s promised to be the heir to the thrown. First mission was to find his missing mother, but that can come second right after killing his father with his bare fucking hands. He’s had enough of his bullshit. Enough people taken out of his life out of spite, enough of being his little guinea pig running around. No. He’s going to be the big boss from now on, with you right by his side whether its do or die.
“ Meet me at the villa. Bring Yoongi there too.”
The phone hangs up, causing Jungkook to let out a huge scream with his hands punching the steering wheel repeatedly. All of this is too fucking much, but he’d go through deaths end to save your life from the hands of his father. In the meantime, he has to find some way to drop these items off to you. You haven’t text back yet, so he assumes you’re too caught up with you father.
Delivery man. The idea pops into his head like magic. He can pose as a delivery man and discreetly hand you the items. Sounds like a great plan. They won’t notice who he really is, but you would. Grabbing the bag from the passenger seat, he quickly makes his way over to your front door. The laughter coming from inside shocks him a bit, but he’s ready. Three hard taps on the door and he steps back to wait for whoever. Time is ticking.
Luckily it’s you who comes to the door. You look at the bag and then back at him. You almost don’t recognize him with the grey contacts and black hat and mask. You can tell by his tattoos peeking from under his coat that it’s Jeon Jungkook in the flesh.
“ Jungkook why-”
“ Listen take the bag it has the pill and some snacks... I have to run somewhere. I’ll stop by later if I can.” That last part is a lie. He won’t be back tonight and so will you. If lying is going to protect you, then so be it.
“ Jungkook wha-”
With no second to spare, he pushes the bag into your hands, gives you a quick kiss on the lips, and runs off back to his car. The confused look just pushes yourself even further as to why he was dressed like that and in a hurry. When he pulls off, you go back inside while rummaging through the bag.
It’s there and so is the snacks. Your dad will kill you if he sees the pill package. The only way to sneak taking it is to come up with some excuse. You notice the package of ramen in the bag. That’s your excuse to get into the kitchen and prepare it so you can take the pill.
“ Dad have you tried the fire noodle ramen? I got some snacks delivered. I’ll make it for you.” You hold up the big ramen bowl up with a warm smile. He agrees to try it, only if you will too. Whatever floats his boat so you can do what you have to do.
Leaving him in the living room, your hands anxiously rip open the package and you stare at the little white pill. Your first time ever taking one. Will it work though? The back of the package and direction goes on and on but after five minutes of reading you sort of got it down pack. It’s a little bitter when it goes down with your sip of water, but anything to not have a baby right now.
The rest of your night consists of different board games and catching up with your father. It feels great to have your family all together again. You all share laughs and jokes in the living room till what seems like forever but only midnight. Lots of food was ate, and old stories from when you were a baby were brought up. The smile and laughter of your father couldn’t make you anymore happier than you were. You’re just glad he’s home, and home for a while.
Jungkook on the other hand, is nearly about to lose his shit. Casper’s having a hard time getting Yoongi to come face Jungkook privately for a quick talk. He should be very afraid. How dare you betray your own member like that? Let alone the one who gives him the orders. The pacing back and forth through the villa echos throughout the place. Murder. Murder is on his mind. He want’s nothing more to just get things fucking over with.
“ Jungkook.” The bland, semi-deep voice comes from behind him. He knows that voice so well. Turning on his heels, he bites his jaw and places his hands in his pockets. “ Min Yoongi. The one who dare betrays me.”
Yoongi scoffs bringing his vape up to his mouth to take a drag from it. Jungkook watches him inhale and exhale carefully, eyes piercing his soul. “ You fell inlove with a target all while your father was just going to end up killing her anyways. You? You know the consequences of falling in-love with targets.”
“ Consequences my fucking ass. I have things under control. Besides, you betrayed me and you know the consequences of that.” Jungkook’s voice is laced with venom hoping to hurt him with words the worst way possible. Yoongi sees right through him though.
Right through his weakness, which is you. “ So you want to beat me up because little princey pooh fell inlove with a useless bitch who seems to be so fucking clueless. At-least im not the bitchmade one who gets a rush off of fucking and leaving females. You wont ever grow up Jungkook will you?”
That’s the last straw for Jungkook. He sees nothing but rage and red through his eyes. Jungkook reacts before Yoongi can even lift a fist up. Jungkook charges Yoongi into the wall, making sure he hits his head against it to knock a bit of sense into him. Jungkook get’s a few punches into Yoongi, poudning him like an animal who’s lost all control. Yoongi grabs his next flying punch with his hand, making sure to make eye contact with him.
“ You fell in love with her, have you lost your god damn mind? Do you know how much is on the line for you Jungkook? Do you fucking know?” He roars, punching his lip which throws Jungkook’s head back.
The blood fills his mouth but he doesn’t care. To his left is where he spits it out and breathes heavily at Yoongi who now stands over-top of him. “ Don’t ever in your life utter those disgusting words about my girl. Do you understand?”
“ Wow. You’ve really lost it over some girl. When you both fucking die in the shit-show of a mess you created, then will you come to your senses. You’re risking and losing it all over a girl Jungkook.” Yoongi says harshily, dragging Jungkook back up to his feet by his shirt collar.
Jungkook dusts himself off. You meant way more than just a girl to him. “ She’s not just any girl. She’s mine. She also isn’t apart of this shit-show the way my father thinks she is. You can walk out on me now Yoongi, but just know if you do you lose everything.” He sternly says.
Is it worth it? For Yoongi to walk out on him just now? Bangtan means the world to him, it’s all the family he’s got left other than his older brother. Everyone else was a victim of gang violence and rivalries which led him to join under Jungkook’s team to protect his only living family member left. Without Bangtan, he knows for sure things would end very bad.
“ Jungkook I never said that. I just want whats best for you and Bangtan.” He snaps. Jungkook rolls his eyes and sighs heavily at the boy. He’s always like that. Will fight you physically but become soft right after so you can see his point of view. “ I know what’s right for my team. I also know whats right for my girl. I’ll protect her at any costs like the way you protect your older brother.”
The conversation gets interrupted by the front door opening and closing. Footsteps scramble through the entrance and it sounds like they’re having trouble. The two boys look at each other then back at the noise, Jungkook’s hand already inside his pants reaching for his gun. He pulls it out and cocks it at the entrance-way, waiting for the intruder to make their way to them. Yoongi stands there, knife out and ready to be used on someone.
To their relief, it’s Casper coming through with what seems like a sleeping body being carried in his hands bridal style. It’s you. You’re wrapped in a white fleece blanket snuggled up carefully against it. Your head peaking out through the top, resting against Casper’s chest. “ She’ll be knocked out cold for the next few hours.”
Jungkook rushes over, holding his hands out to take you from Casper who gently places your limp body in his arms as if he’s holding a small newborn. Not a word is said when he begins to take you up the stairs to one of the bedrooms. He studies your face on the way there. Every crevice, mark, small laugh lines, all of it. From your forehead down to your chin, he soaks in all your beauty. Those lips he kissed and kept kissing just hours ago, look so lifeless but pretty. The cute nose you have he would give anything to rub against his. Your cheeks he can just bite right off whenever you smile and laugh at him.
You don’t deserve any of this. You’re clueless about everything, but you don’t deserve what’s been going on around you. Jungkook hates that, but would rather protect you discreetly than to let you know who he really is. Placing your body down on the bed, he unwraps you from the blanket. You’re wearing a v-neck long sleeve shirt and pajama shorts. Jungkook silently curses you for not dressing properly for the cold night. Theres no time for that now. After tucking you inside the bed, he plants a long kiss on your lips. It feels weird to not have your lips move back in sync with his, but its for the greater good.
Tonight may be his last night alive if this doesn’t go as planned. So he grabs the notepad and pen from the night-stand writes a long note;
My lovely yn,
If you’re reading this it means I haven’t come back. Theres things you will and wont understand but please just know that I meant no harm. I wanted what was best for you, and to save your life. From the very start I knew you meant something to me. It went from hatred to me falling deeply in-love with you and the way you changed me subtly. Everyday I spent with you felt like I was on heaven on earth. You are my heaven on earth. You came to me like a lost puppy and taught me things about myself that I wouldn’t of understood if you hadn’t pointed it out. You did so many things for me without knowing it. You gave me hope. You gave me strength. You gave me love with a blissful rush, something I never felt before.
I love you, Lost Puppy.
A single teardrop escapes his eye upon finishing writing the letter. You mean the world to him and it kills to have to set things up like this just in case. Keeping you safe is more important than anything right now. Taking his necklace off, he carefully lifts your head up to clasp it around your neck. Bangtan Boys. Its a silver necklace with the team’s initials wrapped inside the logo. With this necklace you’ll be protected forever. Jungkook’s the leader and the only one with the necklace, the rest of the boys have rings dedicated to the mafia team. Whoever tries to harm you in any way and gets a look at that necklace across your chest would instantly back off. People know what that logo and initial mean, even the law enforcement. You now have Bangtan’s protection for the rest of your life as well as a piece of Jungkook.
After collecting himself together, Jungkook joins the two downstairs only to be shocked another person has joined the room. She stands there, crossing her arms with an angry look across her face. “ Kidnapping? Really Jungkook?”
“ Who let the chihuahua in the house.” He groans, sitting down on the sofa next to Yoongi. “ Why are you here Ayami?”
“ You kidnapped my bestfriend and think I wouldn’t know it? She has a tracker on her I hope you know that.”
Yoongi and Jungkook’s eyes nearly buldge out of their sockets when they sit up fully. Does she know? About me having a tracking deviced placed on- his thoughts are cut short being answered already by the upset girl.
“ Sungmin got us all bracelets with trackers inside of them. Me and Minlee agreed to it for then safety from you monsters, but yn doesn’t know about hers.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes, “ I’m going to kill him. I really am. Casper go cut the bracelet off her wrist and damage it please.” Casper nods his head, rushing up the stairs to the occupied room.
Ayami purses her lips and narrows her eyes, “ Jungkook we agreed that you wouldn’t fuck up yn’s life right? That meant dating her and using her too.”
Yoongi scoffs looking at Jungkook with suprised eyes. It’s not ever known for Jungkook to ever agree to not do what he does best. “ You actually agreed to that? Wow, you know you could nev-”
“ I’ve changed!” Jungkook yells suddenly. “ Why can’t you guys see that?”
“ Fuck that. Jungkook do you know what happens if she ends up dying? It’s your ass against her father, your father, and yourself.”
“ What happens if she knows you two dated prior to her dating Jungkook.” Yoongi laughs, taking a drag from his vape. Ayami and Jungkook look at him, daring him to say another word. Yoongi gets the memo and just silently laughs to himself. “ This really is a shit-show.”
“ I dumped him first after finding out he cheated on me with Melanie.”
“ Oh like you’re any better. You’re the one who stayed after dumping me and planned out some killings for me. I actually could use your detective, plotting brain right now.” Jungkook scoffs, tucking his gun further down his pants.
“ I’m not helping you kill my fucking bestfriend Jeon Jungkook. I’m not on your fucking side anymore. You took this too far.” Ayami snaps.
Jungkook groans again just wanting her to shut up already. The last thing he needs is for her to start doing the most. “ I’m not killing her. I love her. I’m plotting against my father.” He simply says, shrugging his shoulders.
Ayami’s mouth drops at his words. Against his own father? “ Are you out of your mind Jungkook? You’re going to get everyone, including yourself killed.”
“ Not if I have my mastermind whip up a plan with me.” He sits up, pointing for Ayami to sit down in the chair across from him. “ You’ll get big money out of this one. More than you ever got working with me before. You said you didn’t want Bangtan protection before.. but you’ll need it after this.”
Ayami hesitates at first. Is it really worth it? It’s been a good couple of months since she last worked with Jungkook. The last time being when she came up with a plan with him to take down one of the most notorious Japanese gangs. They came onto Bangtan territory thinking they’d end up winning it over. It was a blood-bath to end with. Though, the rush she felt with Jungkook being his little side-kick in action gave her a rush of never ending adrenaline what seems like. The two always laughing and talking while cleaning up the massacre they finished each time the job was done. Two innocent teenagers thriving off of each other and their will to kill. God she missed that so much.
Jungkook crouches down infront of her, holding his hand out with a devilish smirk on his face. “ What do you say Ayami. Do we have a deal?”
And so she looks him in those eyes that pierce into hers grasping his hand firmly. A deal about to be made with the devil himself.
” Deal.”
