Honestly? I think Aisha had a crush on Taylor, and it makes her character so much more fun too. Her first meeting she gets to tease her a bunch and then the next time they meet she sees that Taylor is incredibly brutal and idk. I think she's weird enough that that would make a spark for her. Obviously Taylor barely noticed Aisha, and ends up dating her brother, so I think this crush withered a bit and likely made her kinda bitter as a whole, in large part because Aisha hurts a lot when people she wants to notice her don't. She thinks she's over it when Taylor leaves, she's been hurt enough already, and then Taylor comes back and oh no she is not over it at all and so she flirts with her a few times through Gold Morning, and she has an actual emotional moment with Taylor where she tells her it's ok to feel things, and she gave up on the crush but maybe she can still be important enough for Taylor to notice and not dismiss.
And then Taylor is barely Taylor, and Aisha is following her through portal after portal, watching as the fun-to-tease dumbass that made her heart flutter becomes more and more unhinged. Taylor is unraveling at the seams, and she's doing it all alone, even surrounded by thousands of capes for her army she's so alone. Except for Aisha. Taylor doesn't even know Aisha is there, she's never noticed her anyway, but she's alone and she's breaking down and she's still the woman Alec teased her about liking all those years ago. So Aisha does all she can to soothe her even as she stops being her, she sings soothing melodies, fixes Taylor's hair, gently rubs her back. So many things Taylor would never let happen, but that she needs to have. And then the golden man dies, and everyone is surrounding Taylor and wondering what to do with her, and she's going to attack them, and Aisha finally lets her power down and Taylor notices her for once. The joy from that hardly makes up for having her free will stolen and a knife put in her mouth as a threat, and if Aisha could move she'd let out a bitter laugh about how fitting it is that this was the time Taylor noticed her.
And then Taylor is gone. She's not coming back this time. And despite Aisha's best efforts, she can't quite move on from the crush just like she can't move on from Alec's friendship. So she does what she wishes people would do for her, she makes sure Taylor is remembered. She confronts Shadow Stalker and lets her know just how much Taylor mattered, because all those people afraid of Khepri and wanting to forget her didn't see her as tears streamed down her face and blood dried on her skin and her posture slumped like a corpse. They didn't see how human she was, how much she sacrificed. But Aisha did. Aisha saw the girl that she had fun teasing in the apartment slowly disappear. She saw someone so determined that they left their mind behind for the greater good. She saw Taylor at her lowest, and she was the only one who really saw her. She'll never get over seeing the hollow shell of Taylor Hebert breaking down as she sings to her, she'll never forget her. So she has to make sure other people don't forget her. It's her love language, and sometimes it feels like no one else speaks it.

Too Close for Comfort, Fairchild
(A/N): Hey guys! I know it’s been a long time since I posted, and for that I am sorry. However, I have overcome my writer’s block and I hope to be posting a few more imagines and one-shots in the future. Please enjoy this new one-shot that is apart of my on going series, ATOFG.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any writing belong to the rightful owner of the mortal instrument series. I do not own any characters expect Evie and any other new original characters I decide to create. I am in no way Homophobic, I LOVE MALEC and I am in fact apart of the LGBTQ community. I am merely exercising my fantasy in writing on my tumblr. If this makes you uncomfortable then please just be nice and do not read.
Pairings: Alec x Evie(OC), Clary x Evie(Platonic), Clary x Jace
Word Count: 1,610k
Tumblr media
Clary and Evie had always been remarkably close, starting within the early years of their lives, and they had always known they would become Parabatai one day. One way or another.
 Platonic Soulmates.
That is the way Jocelyn had explained it to the two eager girls hungry for all the knowledge and traditions of their people. If they were forced to spend their lives in exile away from their home and people, as well as their shadow-mates, then they would settle for nothing less than learning every single aspect of their heritage. Their birth right.
Parabatai were more than brothers and sisters, they were soulmates. In a nature, that is similar but entirely different, and platonic, compared to bonds between shadow mates.
It was a bond and tradition that they wanted so badly to participate in that Jocelyn arranged for the Silent Brothers to officiate the ceremony in secret. If Jocelyn couldn’t let them grow and live in the shadow world that was their blood right, then she could at least give them this.
For that, Clary and Evie had always been very affectionate towards one another. Since being completely introduced to shadow world they had noticed that plenty of other Parabatai were affectionate with each other. It was something they noticed among the female Parabatai-bonded Shadowhunters more than the male Parabatai, but it made them feel elated and gave them a sense of acceptance and belonging.
When they were in the mundane world, they had to continuously tell people that they weren’t romantically together, but just very loving friends. They couldn’t tell them the truth. Not only was it against their peoples’ laws and customs, as well as very private sacred privilege, it was something the mundane world could never appreciate. Mundies would never understand, let alone respect, the depth of the bond between Parabatai.
However, there was one man who was vexed by the touchy-feely relationship between Evie and Clary. Alexander Lightwood was possessive man, and who could blame him. He was the eldest Lightwood child, which means; heavy lies the crown. He has always put his family first, and thus has given everything that is his to the family. Evie is the first person he could call his own. The only thing or person in this world no one expected him to share or give away.
She was his shadow mate and god if it didn’t irritate him more than anything to have to share her with anyone else. Especially Clarissa Fairchild. She had never intentionally done anything to him, but that didn’t change the fact that he felt threaten by the reality of having to share his Parabatai, and his mate, with the mouthy redhead.
Alec and Jace had just finished training and were walking towards the library in hopes of catching glimpses of their respected mates. Having come up empty with the green house and the fact that they came from the training room, the only other places left to look was the library and their shared rooms.
As they drew closer, they heard the shared musical laughter of the young women and shared a victorious smile with each other. They pushed the heavy doors open, entering the extravagant library, and stood at the top of the staircase to watch the girls, who were obvious to being watched.
Clary threw her head back and let out a joyous cackle; “You’re making this up!”
Evie gave a heartily chuckle and shook her head, “I’m so not making it up! While Simon was spray painting over that god-awful band name on his van, so you could repaint the van, Maya was standing behind him tagging his jacket with her own can of spray paint.”
Clary looks at Evie in humored awe before the two best friends made eye contact. At which point they both began to howl in laughter.
They calmed long enough for Evie to muse between heavy giggles, “I don’t know how in the hell Simon didn’t notice what Maya was doing. The back of his jacket had a remarkable amount of detail…”
Clary started to heave she was laughing so hard and the two watching men had to agree Evie’s story was quite hilarious. All her stories are. If you want a good laugh, all you would have to do is ask Evie to tell you a funny story.
Clary calmed down and gave a big sigh of content before she leaned forward from her reclining position on the couch, her and Evie had been laying on together. With her legs still laying across Evie’s lap, Clary moved her face towards Evie’s and rubbed her nose sweetly against Evie’s in an Eskimo kiss.
Evie smiled endearingly at the small display and returned the gesture with an Eskimo kiss of her own to Clary, whilst tucking one of Clary’s unruly curl behind her left ear.
Clary leans into the palm of Evie’s right hand, placing a chaste kiss on the inside of her hand, and shifts her legs from across Evie’s to curl underneath her so she can lean into her warm side and nuzzle her face into Evie’s neck and waves of hair that resembles spun gold.
Evie moves her left arm that was resting on the back of the couch and wraps it around Clary, leaning her cheek on a head of thick red curls. Jace smiled at the heavenly sight of his cherished sister and his beloved mate spending much needed time together.
Alec, however, couldn’t help the surge of immense jealously that rushed through his veins at the sight of someone other than him so close to his mate. He briefly feels guilty seeing as they are Parabatai and it was perfectly normal for female Parabatai to be so close, but that didn’t change the fact that he didn’t want to share his mate.
All his life, Alec has shared everything that was his, and he would be damned if he shared his mate. He watches with guarded eyes as Clary lifts her lips to Evie’s jewelry clad ear and whispered with a small amused smirk. Evie’s eyebrows and lips quirk upwards with slightly surprised amusement before she opened her eyes and the golden orbs lock with his blue ones immediately.
“It seems your right, Clary. I suppose this is all the affection we can have with one another for now.” She says, while they both rise from the Victorian sofa, “Lest my poor mate loses himself to the madness of his own irrational jealously.”
Her playful teasing, and that loving smile she reserved just for him, helps to erase the jealously from his system. The men make their way down the stairs to meet the women who eagerly greet them with kisses.
Evie and Alec’s lips crash together in raw intensity and one of his strong arms wraps around her while his free hand grips her jaw firmly, but lovingly, whilst her small hands grip his broad shoulders. He softly bites her lip, begging for access, and his tongue quickly tangles with hers once she surrenders to his lustful onslaught .
They easily get lost in the others presence, and they would have continued to get lost in each other; if not for the forced cough from Jace and giggle from Clary.
They reluctantly pulled away from the passionate embrace and look at the other couple.
Jace appears to be thoroughly unimpressed but watching Alec “attack” his elder sister, but Clary merely slipped into the spot just behind Evie’s left shoulder and with a teasing smirk spoke; “Wow, Alec. I didn’t think I could get under your skin that easily, but yet again you surprise me.”
Alec glowers at the redhead for her dauntless taunting and bites out in a growl; “Too close for comfort, Fairchild.”
The brazen girl relents with a surrendering smile, after seeing the mindful look the taller blonde headed girl throws over her shoulder,
“Sorry, Alec.” The girl halfheartedly offers; not looking one bit as apologetic as she appears to sound, “I was only teasing. I didn’t mean anything by it.”
In one last ditch effort to amuse herself and irk Alec she says her goodbyes to Evie for the next few hours. She reaches around and places a small and sweet kiss to the graceful sloping of Evie’s angled jaw, and the painted nails of her fingers brush Evie’s shoulders lightly before her right hand continues on to trail down Evie’s spine. Said redhead then parts from the blonde; leaving with her highly entertained mate.
Alec all but snarls and spits at the firecracker’s relentless audacity to annoy him. Evie grabs his shoulders once more and begins to massage the tension from them as she speaks,
“The only reason she continues to taunt you is because you continue to give her exactly what she wants.” He turns to his beautiful mate and watches the small smile curl on her lips.
“So, stop doing that. It’s no fun for her if you don’t look like you’re ready to spit nails.”
He chuckles deeply at that last statement and wraps his arms around her waist, tugging her into his chest, “I know, but I can’t help but want you all to myself.”
She makes a small noise, by sucking her teeth, with a pout whilst brushing his hair back from his eyes, “I am yours. All yours; for all eternity. We were made for each other.”
Alec nuzzles his forehead to Evie’s with a content smile and speaks.
“Destined, my true love. Therefore, where one shadow goes; then the other will surely follow…”
She beams at him and they seal the shadow-mate motto with a deep kiss.

Note
Hi I saw your post about being a Sterek anti which gave me whiplash because I followed you for mcyt opinions but then found the one other Sterek anti. Do you have any other unpopular Teen Wolf opinions that would really upset people?
I love to hate on Teen Wolf of course I have unpopular opinions. This is basically me hating on the Hales and Argents (minus Chris) for being creeps. Don't get me wrong I love the show but these are things that I can't ignore.
Disclaimer this includes topics such as child predators, grooming, abuse, murder and other similar topics. Don't read this If you really like Teen Wolf and is someone who can hate something based on others opinions.
• Sterek is an awful ship. If Stiles was a woman everyone would be calling Derek a pedo. It's weird because season 1-3 Derek was a creep and season 3-6 Stiles was an awful person. Like they switched.
• Ethan and Aiden sounded cool on paper but were a huge fail. Okay so you can combine and grow..... Is that it? Kinda lame for twin Alphas.
• Theo was a better villain than Void Stiles. He managed to successfully split the entire pack apart turning everyone against Scott including making Scott and Stiles fall out. He then made his own pack, killed them off for their powers, got sent to hell, then came back. Void Stiles was Stiles being possessed by a fox spirit and it not being him in control whereas Theo did kill them, he could control who lived or died. What can Void Stiles do? Play chess, pack it up Bella Swan!
• Stiles isn't my favourite character solely because of his comments about Liam's ied and Issac's abuse trauma. Saying that Issac was milking his trauma after he finally was able to open up about it. Constantly going on about Liam's ied and how he was a bomb ready to explode at all times.
• Peter was an awful person, he tricked Derek into turning Paige and that killed her, Derek was now single and traumatized just in time for child predator Kate Argent to groom him then burn his family, Peter survived the fire, killed even more people, died, manipulated Lydia into helping him come back, came back killed more people and repeat that 4 more times.
• Speaking of awful relationships let's not forget Parrish and Lydia. As in the grown adult police officer and the highschool minor.
• Stiles name is Genim and I stand by that.
• People think that Issac would have believed Stiles about Theo and that's just not true. Issac would have been wary of Theo based on his own thoughts but would have trusted that Scott trusted Theo. Don't know where everyone got this Issac and Stiles besties from, we must have been watching two different shows.
• Erica and Boyd were easily top 3 platonic soulmates. Others being Liam and Mason and Scott and Stiles
• Allison was a shitty person. She tried to kill her friends multiple times and got mad at everything and everyone. I genuinely thought she was meant to be bipolar when I was younger because of how she acted.
• Everyone was hypocritical, everyone was fine with Stiles killing Allison and Aiden, Peter for killing a lot of people but not Theo or Jackson eventhough Jackson was also possessed and Theo was manipulated and groomed by the Dread Doctors.
• Kira was stronger than Scott both mentally and physically. Parrish was stronger than Derek and Peter.
• Melissa and Chris were actually a good pairing. I feel like it would be weird for Melissa and John to get together.
• I don't know who Noah Stilinski is. I only know John.
• I prefer Stydia as friends but would pick them over Sterek. However I really liked Stiles with Malia and would have loved Stiles with Cora.
• Scott and Allison were a shit couple. "True love" okay so she broke up with him then immediately got with Issac who was one of Scott's best friends. Then Scott got with both Malia and Kira but still was obsessed with Allison. In my opinion their relationship was good in their eyes because it was their only relationship, no experience. Then Scott always brought her up because he felt guilty about her dying.
• Season 6 was a good season people only don't like it because Dylan wasn't in it.
• Theo was one of the best things to happen to Liam and vice versa. He was one of the only people who didn't either make fun of his ied or use it as an excuse for things. Yes he used it during 6x16 but he knew he'd get his ass handed to him but still did it to help the pack, he wasn't just saying it to insult Liam.
• Mason and Corey were a missed opportunity especially with Mason's knowledge and Corey's powers
• Scott and Liam weren't as close and people want them to be. Scott was always getting mad at Liam and rarely ever worked with him, they never did shit together. "Me and Liam go do this thing" "you guys go and sort this out". The only time he willingly stuck with Liam was when Liam had just bought back Theo and he only stayed with Liam because he thought Theo would try to manipulate him again.
• Lydia being the one to bring Stiles back during the wild Hunt was by far the biggest hate crime. You picked a long time crush over a childhood bestfriend/brother to be the one with the biggest connection to bring him back.
• Scott being a bland character was a good unintentional decision. It gave way for other characters to shine whilst also building multiple storylines. A bad example would be Elena Gilbert, she was bland but was still the main focus which imo was a bad decision.
• People really underestimate Theo and Liam's trust for eachother. They had less than a season of development but managed to be one of the better pairings. Like apart from them working together multiple times, Liam wanting Theo to go to the zoo with him, Theo stopping Liam from killing Nolan and Gabe etc. Theo knew about Liam being beat up at school by Nolan and Gabe before Scott did. Mason and Corey wouldn't have said anything because they didn't trust Theo, the only person who did was Liam. In the sheriff station Theo knew something was upsetting Liam and thought it was Brett and Lori then next episode knew it was Nolan and the Hunters.
• Coach was the best character in the entire show, not Stiles, not Issac, not Lydia, not Derek. What a king. Absolute girlboss. I know Coach would guard my drink with his life, no date rape drugs for me thanks to Coach.
• The show as a whole treated mental health terribly. Theo being manipulated as a child, Issac being abused by his father, Nolan's very severe anxiety and PTSD, Liam's ied, Malia's PTSD etc.
Basically if Teen Wolf had a 7th season and I was involved in writing it I would include the following:
• Puppy Pack including Liam, Theo, Mason, Corey, Hayden and her girlfriend (yes I'd give her a gf), Nolan and Alec just having fun and experiencing life.
• Derek, Peter and Chris working with the police.
• Melissa and Deaton working together along with Liam's step dad on a supernatural section in the hospital.
• Braeden 🥰
• I'd have a fever dream style episode where we get a Void Stiles and Evil Theo (with Tracy and Josh's powers) teamup.
• I'd bring back Kira, Cora and Issac
• I'd have the big threat being a coven of witches which is why they have to bring a lot of people back because it's a whole group of magical beings and Braeden, Kira, Cora and Issac could all bring knowledge that they've found from being in other parts of the world.
• I'd actually use all the cool supernatural powers instead of Scott roaring and flashing his eyes. Lydia's Banshee scream ripple, Parrish's flame on, Corey's invisibility, Theo, Malia and Derek's ability to shift into an actual wolf/coyote, Kira's cool fox powers, Jackson's Kanima vemon etc.

Mates In Hell
Part:2
Tumblr media
Heidi,Jane,Esme x reader (Romantic)
Alec x reader (platonic)
Cullens x reader (platonic)
Tags: @rexburn12
Part 1
An:Since this is a romantic pairing i aged Alec and jane up to 18 so their of legal age.
Also Idk why but i imagined the reader having a Russian accent while writing this XD it was strange but anyways I'm so sorry this took so long,i hope you like it!
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Esme stuck close to my side ever since we met, though i didn't mind one bit. After years of solitude i had finally met my beautiful mate,i was content.
At least...i should be..
No matter what i did i still felt this empty hole in my chest, and though Esme helped to fill it i still felt empty.I felt selfish in a way,i didn't want Esme to feel like she wasn't enough. So i tried to brush it off and continued on living with the cullens.
Easier said then done.
I jumped into attack mode when the sound of glass shattering caught my attention,Esme followed after me as i ran downstairs to the first floor of our cottage, flames about to ignite from deep within.A sigh of relief flew out as i saw that it was only alice, who had merely dropped a vase of flowers she was bringing over,"Is everything alright little one?" I asked, helping her keep steady.
"How..Riley biers..he's still alive...and he's coming with a new army of newborns." She muttered. Apparently he was bad if Esmes terrified expression was anything to go off of,"Who is this..Riley Biers?"
Esme took Alice's hand, leading her into the living room as i followed.Mentally preparing herself before explaining everything.
"He tried to kill you all? Lost and has the audacity to try and fight you again?Does he have no honor?" Alice nodded before looking to her mother who was currently pacing infront of the fireplace,"when will they be here by?" I asked. "Before sundown tomorrow. In the same field from last time." Alice looked down, trying to recall every detail of her vision.
"What do we do? We can't risk him getting to Renesmee." Esme said as i stood up and pulled her into my arms.Kissing the top of her head i stared deep into her golden eyes,"I won't let them get her,i promise to protect all of you. Because if they want you they'll have to go through me first, and I'll unleash hells wrath on them." I stated cupping her cheeks protectively.
With that settled we called the others for a family meeting and went to the cullens house, quickly filling them in.
"But the Volturi are coming to check on Renesmee tomorrow." Bella stated hugging her daughter close,"We'll have to deal with them after...i should have finished Riley off myself but i didn't realize we never burned his body." Edward stated rubbing his wifes shoulder.
"Theres no use dwelling on that now.But Edwards right, one problem at a time.Riley was a follower, merely the face of the army before,he had no real control. But he's had a while to prepare,we'll be outnumbered." Jasper added, the major peeking out a bit in his tone.
"Yes but you've never had a Hellhound fighting beside you." I said with a smirk,"I've fought worse enemies then a few puny newborns. My fire and strength will deal with them quickly." Esme giggled when i flexed my arm muscle before wrapping one around her shoulders, surrounding her in my warm embrace.
While the others discussed battle tactics she watched my profile,She knew her family would be safe with me around. But she couldn't hide the pinch inside of her,I had been so off,as if there was a chunk of myself that wasn't satisfied. She hoped it was nothing, since i had been alone for so long she assumed i was just getting antsy. She just hoped the battle will satisfy me enough.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Heidi froze suddenly causing the twins to look at her in confusion,"Heidi what is it?" Alec asked seeing her dazed expression. "Don't you smell that? It's calming like lavender and as intoxicating as blood."
Jane sniffed the air, suddenly sharing Heidis expression."I do...where is that coming from..?"
Alec looked between the two with worry and confusion,"What are you guys talking about? I don't smell anything like that at all." Before he could even finish the two were already speeding off deeper into the forest,he huffed before following.
When the three guards finally stopped they realized they had stepped into the middle of a battle, newborns were being torn apart left and right by the cullens, the wolf pack and..a (P/n) on fire?
"Aro never mentioned another newborn army..where did they come from?" Alec asked watching as a newborn was ripped to shreds by one of the wolves.
As the two women watched they realized the person on fire was the source of the intoxicating smell.
They had to get closer.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Standing over Riley Biers i watched as he cowered down at my intimidating appearance, right as i was about to go for the kill the wind picked up.Sniffing the air my pupils dilated.
This familiar scent...where had i smelt it before?
Ahh that's right..the same scent that had flooded my senses when i first met Esme.
Turning around i saw two beautiful women and a confused man watching me,the womens red eyes widened slightly with parted lips.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
As if under Zafrina's power their world suddenly changed around them.
Aro sat with his usual melicious grin, an evil glint in his eyes at the presence of the incoming figure.
"Is everything ready?" Aro asked raising a brow.
"Yes Master, training has gone wonderfully, their ready for the real thing." The ravenhaired king clasped his hands together.
"Wonderful,I'm counting on you...Riley."
Said man nodded,"But master, didn't you send the witch twins and Heidi to check on the hybrid?"
Aro tilted his head, clasping his hands together,"I trust that you'll dispose of them for me,If you succeed then you'll be replacing them." He said with a bastardly grin and an echoing chuckle.
That was the last thing they heard as the world returned to the present.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
The three glanced at eachother with the same hurt expression,"He truly didn't care? Was he so ready to get rid of us?" Jane growled now glaring at Riley tempted to use her gift.
Heidi crossed her arms,"I should have seen this coming,no wonder he was so eager to send us on this mission..He wanted to kill us." Alec looked down,"He had planned this all along, and we played right into his trap.."
Esme watched them sadly, knowing immediately who they were talking about. But a sudden movement caught her attention, she gasped and yelled to her distracted mate.
"(Y/N)! LOOK OUT!"
Right as i turned back to Riley a newborn had tackled me off,As we rolled and tossled for dominance trying to find a leverage over the other Riley stood up glaring with a smirk at the Volturi guards."I'd say i pity you and apologize, but i really don't care." The three got into a fighting stance but Esme was quick to speed over and push the three behind her,"Stay away from them Riley." She hissed,he chuckled and walked closer"Or what? You're just the weak mother of the cullens right? You can't hurt me." She glanced past him for a moment, before looking at him with a smile.
"You're right,I might not be able to....but i know who can." Right as he went to attack a clawed hand ripped through his chest. The fire burned his marble skin causing him to scream in agony.
I roared as i tore him in half, throwing his upper half away from his lower half.My flames from hell were quick to turn him to ash,the wind blew his ashes away, proving he wasn't going to hurt anyone ever again.
"Are you all alright?" Esme asked quickly running to my side as i fell to my knees,my fire dispersing."I am alright my love, merely overwhelmed with my emotions." I huffed looking over at the two woman behind her.
Jane and Heidis red eyes were enchanting,a small smile rested on their lips,"You two,you are my mates?"
Esmes eyes widened,"What? I..I didn't realize you could have more than one? How is this possible?" I chuckled as she helped me up,"I am a hellhound,i stopped questioning why and how a long time ago." Walking over to them with a wide grin i held out my arms, chuckling when they ran into them.
"This is it Esme,All three of you together is what filled the whole in my heart!" She watched us for a moment before smiling, walking into the hug.
"I always thought I'd be destined to never find my mate,my gift never made anyones feelings for me anything more than lust." Heidi said burying her beautiful face in my neck. Jane rubbed her cheek into my chest, finally relishing in the touch of someone other than her brother. He was the only one to ever hug her.
"I suppose we'll need a bigger cottage now to fit all four of us." Esme said with a smile.
Janes head shot up,"Wait, what about my brother." She turned back to Alec who had a sad smile on his face,"It is alright sister, you have waited so long to find la tua anima gemella(your soulmate).I will be fine."
She looked up at me sadly,With a sigh i nodded,"I wouldn't dream of splitting siblings apart,he may live with us as well." She smiled and nearly toppled me over in a hug, laughing i lifted her and heidi up,esme brought alec over with a motherly smile.
She should feel jealous, but as she watched us,seeing the happy smiles on all of our faces made her realize something.
After years of waiting to finally find her mate, she finally found me,and now we were building a family of our own.
And so long as she was 'alive',nothing was going to tear us apart, she knew I'd make sure of it.

The Voice Inside My Head Ch. 2
More slow burn between soulmates. Magnus and Alec both wonder if there is anybody for them and they are too scared to find out. Alec also does something he never thought he would have the courage to do. Masterlist.
Warning: swears, soulmate AU, fluff, slight slow burn
A/N: Okay yes I created some parallels between Magnus and Alec but does that really surprise us at this point? I’m a sucker for parallels and sprinkle them everywhere. Y’all should know that by now. Also I know Magnus’ part is kinda blah, I’m sorry.
***
September, 12. Alexander Lightwood was officially 18. Having just started college, he hadn’t made many friends. Not that he was a very popular kid in high school, either. His birthday parties were always planned by Isabelle, his sister. He never even knew half the people there. As annoying as those parties were most of the time, he did miss Izzy and Jace. At least with them around, he didn’t have to spend his birthday alone. They must have sensed this because as soon as Alec sat down to enjoy his dinner, his phone buzzed. The name “Little Lightwood” flashed on his phone. He immediately picked it up.
“Hey, Izzy!” Alec could hear loud music through the phone. “Are you at a party? Iz, it’s a school night.”
“Oh, well Jace thought it was a good idea to throw a party in your honor because you probably are eating dinner in your dorm by yourself.”
“So you threw me a birthday party?”
“Yes.”
“Without me actually being there?”
“Yes.” There was a pause. Alec could hear Izzy move through the house. The music in the background had gotten a lot quieter. “Hey, Alec?”
“Yes, Iz?”
“Did you try to talk to your soulmate yet?” Alec sighed in response. He knew Izzy would want to ask about that. She was the only person in the world who knew Alec was gay. She’d known since he was 16. Even Jace did not know this about Alec. Part of that was because Jace was the person who had made Alec realise his sexuality. Izzy was Alec’s support system, she had always had his back.
“No, I haven’t talked to him yet. I don’t even know if he exists.”
“And you’ll never find out until you try.” Another silence. “And Alec?”
“Hmmm?”
“Happy Birthday.” That was the last thing Izzy said to him before somebody came and dragged her back into the party. Alec finished his dinner quietly, all the while thinking about what his sister had said to him. He threw the now empty take out containers into the trash and headed for the shower. It was already quite late and Alec wanted to get some sleep before he needed to start putting late hours at the library every night. After his shower, he curled up in his bed but sleep did not come. Alec sighed and closed his eyes.
Hello? Alec called, to a soulmate who probably didn’t even exist. He sat on his bed, with his eyes tightly shut, sure that he had just made a terrible mistake.
***
Magnus was having dinner with Dorothea and Cat that night. Even though it was just a casual affair, he had put on a crisp silver shirt with his black dinner jacket and dark skinny jeans. When it came to fashion, Magnus never settled for less. The silver shirt complimented his gold eyes perfectly. However, he further accentuated his look with a simple stroke of gold eyeliner over his eyelids. His hair was dyed with streaks of silver. After admiring himself in the mirror one final time, Magnus went over next door.
Dinner with Cat and Dot - or as Magnus like to call them: Dotarina - was always fun. The girls never failed to cheer him up. That’s why they were his best friends. They always had his back. With them, Magnus could let down his guard. He didn’t have to be everyone thought he was. He could be himself. He’d often wondered if they were his soulmates. In a platonic manner, obviously.
“You know what, Mags?” Cat said, reaching for his hands. “Who cares if the universe didn’t give you a soulmate? I will find you one. Or you know maybe you already have one. Maybe the reason you can’t talk to them is because you’ve already met them.”
“I’m sure I would know if I had met my soulmate, Cat.” Magnus wasn’t sure if it was the drink, but talking with Cat made him feel better than he had felt in a while. “It wouldn’t feel so...mundane. It would be different.”
“Not necessarily. I didn’t immediately feel fireworks when I first met Dot. It takes time to figure these things out.” Magnus sighed at Catarina’s words and ran a hand through his hair. His eyes darted toward the clock. It was getting late. They quickly said their goodbyes and Magnus headed back to his own apartment.
Magnus soon changed out of his clothes and snuggled into bed. Just as sleep was about to take over his body, Magnus heard something.
Hello? A voice rang inside his head. It felt so familiar but still so new. Magnus sat upright, immediately knowing whose voice that was. It was his soulmate.

It is a universally accepted truth that all humans have soulmates.
They can be platonic, romantic, or even antagonistic; some have marks, or words, or initials on their skin; they can be present from birth or appear when two fated souls meet – or worse, when they part. Whatever the circumstance, all humans have them, though whether you meet is purely up to chance.
In the Shadow World, however, it’s… less so.
It’s not impossible for half-human hybrids to have soulmates – they are, after all, half-human. The fae, as angel and demon, don’t, nor does it bother them in the slightest. Nephilim have a higher rate than most species, owing to their angel blood, but it’s still not guaranteed, hence the parabatai bond – much like their very creation, why let nature run its course when you can force it into shape?
With werewolves and vampires, former humans, it’s slightly more traumatic. Vampires always lose their bond whether formed or not, given they have, in fact, died – however, if a connection has already formed, it’s possible for it to be restored in the first 24 hours after resurrection with a powerful enough warlock.
Magnus has attended more re-bonding rituals than he can count, at this point. But sue him; he’s powerful, and a romantic.
Werewolves have a sixty percent chance of losing theirs due to the demonic infection & mutation; those cannot be restored. Those who are lucky and keep them are strongly warned not to flaunt this.
And warlocks? Their chance of having a potential bond is one-in-a-thousand. For the children of Princes of Hell, it’s an impossibility.
Magnus had been fascinated by the concept of soulmates as a child. His mother had Javanese edelweiss adorning one of her hips, running up and over into the small of her back – it had been buds, she explained, until it had blossomed upon meeting a young and handsome foreigner at a Jayakartan market stall.
His father was harsh on him sometimes, always pushing him to do and be better, but Magnus was glad that he loved his mama, that they were soulmates, even if sometimes it felt like his papa didn’t seem to be that invested in Magnus’s own life.
Even much, much later in life, the idea that they had been soulmates that had defied the odds at the time by crossing half the world to meet, and that Magnus’s very existence had caused their partnerships’ tragic end, was one that hounded him in his darker moments.
Asmodeus, posing as a father who loved him, was the one to tell him he would never have a soulmate and why. Magnus, who had still been barely 10 at the time, had been brought to tears by the loss of something he’d wanted so desperately – prompting Asmodeus to become truly angry at him for the first time.
Magnus, who also wanted desperately to not make his father angry at him again, never mentioned soulmates, instead pouring his energy into fulfilling his fathers’ wishes.
But that never stopped him wishing, or lamenting on alcohol-filled evenings, alone in wherever he was currently calling home.
He did come to learn that any relationships he pursued, no matter what type, were in no way inferior for his lack of a soulmate – he was, after all, not alone in this. He made friends, made rivals, took lovers and paramours and taught himself to live in the moment.
He couldn’t help, however, the fear whenever a romantic relationship began to develop deeper than surface-level attraction, the constant fear that his partner would leave him for their own soulmate one day. It was a different fear than the one that others would leave him for who he was, or what he’d done – both of those he could cover up, could change himself for the benefit of his partner and hope that that would make him actually become better. This was something he couldn’t change.
Camille, in wreaking her havoc on his heart, at least stopped him feeling that way – simply because he refused to allow himself to feel anything.
But oh, how he felt anyway.
Alexander had been a revelation. Four hundred years and he was continually surprised by him; a Shadowhunter in his early-mid-twenties redefining values Magnus’d held since he was barely a century old; a man who’s very core was burning bright with passion and justice that his people and culture had tried desperately to smother.
Being with Alexander… it hadn’t fixed Magnus, hadn’t solved all his traumas and anxieties, but for every new one it dredged up it seemed to soothe two. Magnus was meant to love – and here was this impossible man who loved him straight back. And yet.
The soulmate question.
Magnus had seen a mark on the left side of Alec’s ribs, the first time they’d made love. It fit in with the rest of his runes, stark black, but it didn’t look like any rune he’d seen before. It was almost like a lowercase a, but with an embellished tail, and a circle over the top.
He would have asked then, but Alec pressed a kiss to his forehead.
“Beautiful,” Alec murmured. “I’ll tell you every day until you believe it.”
“It might – ah – it might take a while,” Magnus whispered back.
“That’s okay. I don’t mind.”
And the strange rune slipped his mind, to be replaced with only Alec for a night.
Then things sort of went to hell, and it wasn’t until after they’d confessed their love that Magnus spotted the strange rune again as Alec was dressing for work. Alec was rushing around, in no small part to them having spent the morning entangled in the duvet and each other; Magnus found he couldn’t summon a single ounce of regret as he sipped his tea.
But, curiosity built and eventually got the better of Magnus.
“Alexander,” he called out as Alec began to step through the portal Magnus had made. Alec hummed through his mouthful of toast, looking back, but Magnus waved him off.
“I’ll text you,” he said. It wouldn’t do to distract Alec in a portal and have him end up in Siberia, or something.
M: Alexander, that rune on your side
M: By your heart
M: What does it mean? I’ve never seen it before.
A: It’s my soulmate mark, it just looks like a rune
M: Oh,ok
A: You okay?
M: Yes, darling. Just curious
A: okay. I love you
Magnus knew he’d fallen for Alec far too quickly; his defences crumbling in the face of earnest smiles and bright long-lashed eyes and honest words. He could hardly help it – Alec had been a lot of things Magnus had hoped for without any kind of pretence on either of their parts. They simply worked, and Alexander loved him back, and it… it may not even be enough.
Because Alec had a soulmate out there, and it wasn’t Magnus. It could never be Magnus.
He put a brave face on; attended all his meetings and saw clients without betraying the cloud eating away at his heart and mind, until the evening found him without distractions, nursing a glass of whisky in his own loft.
“Hey, Magnus?” Alec called out, pushing open the front door with his recently given key. Magnus didn’t respond, too lost in thought, until Alec came around the back of his armchair, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder. Magnus startled.
“Alexander! You’re early,” he exclaimed, standing far too quickly in order to kiss Alec on the cheek.
“It’s 9pm,” Alec said, accepting the kiss with a frown.
“It is? Oh, too late to go out for food then, we’ll have to order in. Or I’ll cook! You must be famished.” Magnus waved his hand nonchalantly, heading towards the kitchen without breaking his speech or indeed, making any eye contact.
“I came over to see if you were alright. You haven’t responded to any messages today and even if you’re busy, it’s not like you. Are you… you know… okay?”
“I’m perfectly fine, my dear. Now, drink first? Or dinner first? I alw-“
“Magnus.”
Alec’s firm, yet pleading tone cut deeper than Magnus had expected it to, and he halted in his tracks, shoulders dropping as though their strings had been cut. He exhaled slowly, turning around to face Alec, stood tall in the centre of the room.
“Will you tell me what’s wrong?” Alec said, quietly.
“If you promise to hear me out?” Alec nodded. “It’s about… it’s to do with soulmates. I don’t – can’t – have a soulmate. While it is possible for warlocks, my lineage is… it means it is physically impossible. And you have one anyway. Alexander, if you… if you found your soulmate, and if they were… if your connection with him was of a romantic nature, I would never hold it against you, and I want you to know that, okay? You deserve that connection, and I- I-”
Magnus had noticed but hadn’t fully comprehended Alec moving towards him during his speech until he was stood barely a foot away, his eyes soft in a way that reminded him of when Magnus’s glamour had first dropped around him. Alec reached out for the glass still in Magnus’s clutches, gently setting it aside and replacing it with his own hand.
“Magnus,” he said, voice gentle. “I promise you, it’s okay, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
“I will not be the thing that stands between you and that potential, Alexander. I won’t do that to you.”
“No, you’re not listening. You won’t be because my soulmate is platonic, and it’s Izzy. Izzy is my soulmate, Magnus. That’s one of the reasons why Jace and I became parabatai, because then the three of us were linked through me. Look-“ Alec used the hand not holding Magnus’s and began unbuttoning his shirt clumsily.
“It’s getting remarkably easier to get you naked,” Magnus murmured, making jokes despite being still somewhat dazed. Trapped within his own insecurities, he hadn’t really dwelled on Alec having a platonic soulmate, his mind too eager to rip itself apart and bring him down.
Alec grinned at him, shrugging off one shoulder of the shirt. “You see? It’s a lowercase a, and a lowercase i. That’s what it means.”
“Ah. I fear I have made myself a bit of a fool.”
“No,” Alec shook his head, before leaning in to press a kiss to Magnus’s lips. “You’ve just been through more than most, than I can even begin to understand. But, Magnus – you know what this means for us?”
Magnus quirked an eyebrow at him.
“It means the universe doesn’t decide for us our fate. It means that while the universe has decided that Izzy and I choose each other, and protect each other - I get to decide, with all my, my heart, and my soul? I chose you. I’m choosing you, Magnus. And it means that you can choose me too, if you want.”
A tear escaped Magnus’s eye, his glamour slipping away with it. Alec raised a hand and wiped it away, and Magnus smiled for the first time since he’d learnt of the soulmark’s existence. His other hand, the one not still holding Alec’s, pressed over the bare skin above Alec’s heart, his palm spreading and feeling its steady beat.
“I love you,” Alec whispered.
“I love you too,” Magnus whispered back, and leaned into Alec.
As they held each other in the opening to Magnus’s kitchen, the only light from the outside city, Magnus revelled in what it was like to feel chosen by someone for no reason other than because they wanted to choose him.
If he was being totally honest, Magnus thought it felt a little like Javanese edelweiss, finally in bloom.

Malec + 78. “Please just be my best friend and not the person I confessed my love to?“ Jace considered Alec his soulmate. His other half. His brother. He knew what Alec was thinking without asking, and he knew his every reaction. So when a glittery stranger walked in and shook his tailfeather, he was certain Alec wouldn’t care. Jace was very wrong. The glittery stranger had a name, Magnus Bane, and Alec seemed to care enough to spend the night away from his shared apartment with Jace. When he got home the following morning, Jace discovered two things about Alec. He did the walk of shame with dignity. Alec’s smile was beautiful. No, Jace didn’t have romantic feelings for Alec; but he was, quite honestly, shaken to his core by Alec’s smile that morning. It was very obvious that Alec had gotten laid, and it was weird. Not a bad sort of weird, just…weird. Alec had always been the business before pleasure sort of guy, not stopping to enjoy the moment but diving into work head first and without question. This could be one of those one night stands Alec sometimes went for, a momentary fling that burned hot until the flames went out and Alec was back to business. Jace was very wrong. The glittery stranger was no longer a stranger. A few weeks later, it was official. Alec was dating Magnus Bane. What kind of name was Magnus Bane anyway? It sounded like a cartoon, which wasn’t very far off because Magnus Bane was a walking art exhibit. Everything about him was flawless and perfect, from his hair to the way he made coffee in the morning, which according to Alec, was quite the process. Now, Jace knew what Alec was thinking when he met Clary. Alec had treated her very badly in the beginning, ignoring her and giving her the stink eye every time she got too close to Jace. She was a threat to Alec because Jace was spending less time with him and more time with her. It took a drunk night out to find out what was bothering him, and Jace regretted every second of it. Jace had thought that Alec saw him as a friend, but he had been very wrong. Between a bottle of tequila and reruns of The Terminator, Alec had confessed his crush on Jace, and it changed everything he thought about Alec. Every shoulder bump, every kind word of encouragement he had ever given Jace, it all felt different. Alec seemed to not remember anything from that night, which Jace played along with to protect him. Alec eventually warmed up to Clary. The two even had conversations about politics and other things Jace didn’t understand; and honestly, if he didn’t know Alec was gay, he would have been worried about their closeness. All Clary had said to him is that they had talked it out and established a mutual understanding that matured into a sibling-like bond. Back to the problem at hand, Jace was now feeling threatened. Alec was spending more time with Magnus and less time with him. They were disgustingly adorable, with their inside jokes and googly eyes. Jealousy wasn’t a nice feeling. Yes, Jace was jealous. And he knew why. Alec now had someone else to make him happy, and Jace understood how it could make Alec think he was in love with him--because Jace had his own meltdown about it. So, in the beginning, Jace treated Magnus horribly. He made fun of Magnus about everything, and he played pranks on him and even tried to talk Alec into not including him during their weekly bowling night with Izzy and her husband, Simon. Of course, Alec had argued that Izzy wanted to meet Magnus in order to give her stamp of approval. Much to Jace’s dismay, Magnus had charmed the Jimmy Choo heels off her feet and they became best friends within the hour. Needless to say, Magnus put his brand on their family, and that brand was smiles and giggles. Magnus was funny, handsome, charming, hard working, and annoyingly perfect. When Alec and Magnus had their first fight, Jace had seen an opportunity to break them up. However, seeing how miserable Alec was, Jace just didn’t have the heart. He had even driven Alec to Magnus’ apartment and knocked on the door until Magnus let them in. Alec did the walk of shame the next day with even more dignity than ever. Jace thought he knew Alec. But when Alec had asked Jace about how he knew that he wanted to marry Clary, he figured out that he didn’t know Alec at all. As Jace explained how Clary was the person he couldn’t live without, how she was the first person he thought about when he woke up and the last person he thought of when he went to sleep, instead of bumping his shoulder and calling him out for being cheesy and weird, Alec had smiled. “I want to ask Magnus to marry me.” That had been the turning point in their platonic soulmate relationship. In the following weeks, he went ring shopping with Alec, and they had come up with an elaborate plan on how he was going to ask. Alec went all out. He had booked a table at the same restaurant they had their first date in, he got their cousin Julian to play the violin for them, and he even wore a suit. “Were you this nervous when you asked Clary?” Alec asked, while Jace fixed his tie. “You’ll be fine, Alec,” Jace replied, dusting his shoulder off and nodding approvingly. “Thanks,” Alec fixed his collar, looking at the time. “Shit.” Jace snapped his fingers in front of Alec’s face, drawing his attention away from the clock on the wall. “Hey, look at me. It’s going to be fine.” “What if he says no? What if Julian doesn’t get to the restaurant in time?” Jace sighed heavily. “Alec stop fretting.” “Can you please just be my best friend and not the person I confessed my love to?” Alec blurted out, and Jace froze. Alec knew Jace better than anyone, and he wasn’t wrong in that moment. Jace had been keeping a small distance between them since the night of Alec's confession, not wanting to make things weird for either of them. But Jace had been wrong, because Alec did remember. Clearing his throat, Jace put his hand on Alec’s shoulder. “Alright. Julian is working at that restaurant tonight, he has his violin-” “Magnus loves it when Julian plays the violin.” “Hey! Focus!” Jace slapped Alec’s shoulder lightly, and Alec nodded. “Everything is ready, Magnus is waiting, and you are getting engaged tonight. Magnus would be crazy to say no.” “Really? I’m not- I mean, there are so many reasons that he could say no. I snore, I hog the covers, I can’t dance-” Jace slapped his cheek lightly, and Alec took a deep breath. “Thanks.” Jace nodded. “Don’t mention it. Now,” he said, cupping Alec’s cheek. “You’re a great guy, Alec. You’re kind, funny, annoyingly handsome and yes, you dance like a one legged chicken, but-” Alec gave him an evil glare at that. “But, you have one of the purest and kindest hearts I have ever gotten to know. Magnus loves you. He’s going to say yes.” Alec was silent for a moment, before smiling brightly at him. “Thanks, Jace.” Jace smiled back. “You’re welcome. Now go get your man.” Alec took a deep breath and grabbed the car keys from the table. “Wish me luck.” “You don’t need luck, bro. You got this.” Alec laughed and left. Later that night, Jace’s phone lit up with a single text message. “He said yes!” After cheering with Clary, he finally realized it. He always knew Alec. Alec wasn’t happy until he met Magnus. Not to say that Magnus was the only thing that could make Alec happy. Magnus drew out a side of Alec that Jace knew. He loosened up, he had fun, he stopped putting his family before himself, he enjoyed life. That was all anyone ever wanted for Alec, for him to be himself and enjoy life.  He could finally have that with Magnus. Just like Clary had done for him. Alec accepted that. If he could make the effort to get to know her, Jace could do the same with Magnus. The only thing they had in common was Alec, as far as Jace knew, but that, Jace figured out, was enough reason. Next bowling night, Jace picked Magnus for his team, and it turned out to be his lucky night. They not only beat Alec and Simon, but Magnus also gave him the best suggestion for a present for Clary’s birthday. The glittery stranger was no longer a stranger. He was family.

Genuine question not to be seen as hate - how do you respond to people that see Jace and Alec as brothers even though you ship them romantically? Like in a way they ARE, right? But they also aren't!

how do i respond? i think that as long as you’re not sending hate to other people or considering other people bad for disagreeing with you, you are completely entitled to feel the way you feel about anything. you just gotta keep in mind other people might have different opinions and that’s okay!
if you want to know what my arguments are for the way i feel? i just, personally, don’t think that jace sees alec as a brother first, because to me, first of all, he sees alec as his best friend, and as his parabatai, and anything else comes later. which is different from how he feels about isabelle, or max, for example, talking about canon storyline (specially max). and it’s logical that it’s different since alec is canon-wise his soulmate, they literally are considered halves of the same person, so whatever he feels about alec is always going to be different from anyone else.
i guess someone is also allowed to feel like they belong with a group of people without having familial feelings for every member of that family? i know a lot of people for example, that never felt like they belonged with their own family, but that feel part of their partner’s family. if they identify their husbands/wives’ parents as their own, does it mean they see their husband/wife as a brother or sister? if you feel so close to your brother/sister-in-law that you consider them more your sibling than your own blood ones, because of kindred spirits and love, does that mean you see your partner as your brother or sister? i don’t personally see one thing as irrevocably tied to the other.
if you want to know about legal matters this is how i see it from what i interpret from strict book!canon as in every legal reason for why, legally jace is not, never has been, or will be alec’s brother/foster brother, transferring it to a mundane lingo.
not to say in the book, jace, from his own pov, didn’t even FEEL like a son to maryse or robert, until he was 16 years old, despite how much he loved them, he didn’t think they felt that way about him in return, so he did consider himself like a brother to izzy or max, and alec’s best friend, but never considered maryse his mom until she stood up for him and made her feelings for him clear for the first time, when she defended him from imogen, but still, legally, couldn’t actually keep him from her. so as you can see, it’s unlikely he was treated just like one of the other kids, and not like robert’s parabatai’s son (it’s possible he just didn’t see it because of his hard time accepting love, of course, but i don’t personally think that’s the case, i think maryse only let herself show how much she loved him after she almost lost him).
for my characterization, and the way i’ve built jace’s sexuality, and taking into account his abusive childhood, i do believe that jace felt SOMETHING for alec, in return, from the moment they’d met, but, at first he didn’t even have how to recognize that, and later feeling attraction to girls meant to him that his feelings for alec were obviously platonic and nothing else. which honestly was a RELIEF to him, because alec was the best thing that he had ever had in his life, and the purest (as in good) thing he had ever dared to touch, and he couldn’t bear the thought of destroying him — the love he did feel for alec already being enough to be scary, without him considering it non-platonic. jace is a boy that met the love of his life at 16 and never again fell in love for someone else, so if he HAD had feelings for the same sex before, or could have had after, how could he possibly know? in the archaic, close-minded, way he was raised, first by valentine (who controlled every single bit of information he ever got access to), and then by the lightwoods and hodge who taught him further in the views of the clave, do the words or the notion of anything that isn’t straight or gay (a.k.a. right or wrong), like bisexuality or any other kind, even exist? i know they didn’t for me, growing up, i can only imagine how foreign a concept that’d be for jace. so he had no means how, and no reason for why, to question his feelings for alec. so we’ll never know how he really felt, if it was something more or not, and likely neither will him, since once he meets clary, he falls head over heels for her and never looks back.
as for alec, to him jace was never his brother, he was from the very moment they met, his very first boyish crush, and as they grew up, the first person he ever fell in love with. alec was smitten and blown away by jace from the moment they laid eyes on each other. he didn’t have time to build other feelings first. after he falls in love with magnus, he also slowly starts to see jace as his best friend, parabatai and soulmate, first. that’s always how it’s gonna be for them, in my interpretation, because them being soulmates is way more important than even any familial connections they can have.
so does jace feel like he belongs with the lightwoods? definitely. does ALEC thinks he belongs with them? for damn sure. does jace grow (as a young adult) to consider maryse his mother? yes. does he consider robert his father? no. that will, for better or worse, always be valentine’s spot. does he feels like a brother to izzy and max? definitely. does he thinks alec is his big brother? nope. alec’s his soulmate, his brother-in-arms. can they grow to feel that way in the future after they both have met the second loves of their lives? sure! but the parabatai status will always be more important, always.
another thing i want to point out that really makes this very simple: jace will never stop feeling about valentine as his father, in fact, he feels him to be more his father than clary ever will, does that mean jace considers clary his sister? hell no (and may raziel save us from these dark days). it’s the same thing, anon. because like it or not, despite everything, jace does love valentine like a father, he always did, but it doesn’t make his love for clary a familial one, never did, even when they did think they were siblings. so if it works that way for jace about clary, why would it be different with alec?
in addition: jace didn’t even grow up feeling like izzy’s brother, he and izzy both FIGURED OUT they were better that way (as brother and sister to each other) when they were like 13-14 and shared a few kisses out of mutual curiosity (which i headcanon as their first kisses). so this only adds to how his feelings for the lightwood family weren’t set in stone the moment he arrived at the institute. because he weren’t a sibling to them the moment he moved in (legally never was), he GREW to love them as a family, which to me is even more important than being brought up in it.

Of Lights And Shadows
Alec had always known Magnus Bane was his soulmate. Just like he knew he was older than he looked – and not only because of his upbringing.
Soulmate magic was tricky, but powerful. And unfortunately, nothing could ever come and cut that connection between two people. Which means that whenever you are in mortal danger, your soulmate comes to the rescue.
You didn’t choose your soulmate, and you certainly didn’t choose if it was a platonic one or a romantic one. Alec only cared because in the Shadowhunter community you had to make your soulmate public, and that could expose him.
In most cases within the Shadowhunter’s community, platonic soulmates and parabatai were one and the same, giving the whole soulmate concept some higher status and because non-platonic soulmates were for the most part connected to other Shadowhunters, everything was going well.
That is, until Alec finished his training and his first – unofficial of course, he would never admit to it having happened – hunt included saving Magnus Bane’s life.
Now, at the time, he had been thirteen and freshly out of the academy, so he didn’t know how to react. He had vanquished the enemies threatening to sneak up on him and then disappeared into the night, shaken up after discovering who his soulmate was.
So he researched everything on the topic for months, even years, as soon as he had free time.
You can only have one soulmate.
One soulmate, one chance. Which is why no matter wherever they are, if they are in danger, you instantly find yourself at their side.
And apparently, whenever they are too. Though that wasn’t part of the deal!
Alec had only just discovered rescues that his freaking Soulmate Magic made him time travel – but then again, maybe it was logical that it happened NOW cause if it had happened before? He wouldn’t have been ready to help his soulmate – and he could already feel the migraine coming.
Just as he always did, he activated his soundless rune amongst others, scanned the area for threats and got confused when he found none.
Then he saw Magnus.
Standing on the bridge, looking down. And logically, he knew. Magnus’s life as an immortal hadn’t been easy, but he had at least the reassurance that Magnus was alive in his time, so it would be fine right?
Didn’t mean the magic wasn’t expecting him to do something though, or he would still be in his room at the institute.
He walked slowly, taking in his surroundings and mulling over ideas.
Show himself? Wouldn’t that be dangerous for the future? He had never met Magnus after all…Who knew what kind of repercussion it could have?
Getting closer, he heard a few voices from the other side of the bridge and came to a decision. He wouldn’t show himself today, but he could ask for a passer-by’s help.
Acting like he was looking for a friend, he was relieved to see the man advance onto the bridge and upon closer inspection find Magnus there.
Alec disappeared before he could call for him, not wanting to risk anything.
And in a myriad of colours, he found himself in his room again.
That had been he first time, but not the last time he had been tasked by fate to take care of Magnus.
He had seen him happy or sad, but always oblivious to the danger lurking, the monsters creeping after him, only needing a minute of inattention to strike.
They didn’t get any, not with Alec as a bodyguard.
As invisible as he was efficient, Alec slowly homed in his skills as a Shadowhunter, travelling to times and places he had never even dreamt of but never losing sight of his main goal: keeping magnus alive.
He became Jace’s parabatai, had a bit of a crisis over his newfound sexuality – he had hoped he had one of those platonic soulmate, but fate seemed determined to torture him – but promised himself he would never put himself in a situation where Magnus would be the one who would have to run to the rescue.
So far, he had been exceptionally good at it, keeping his knowledge of the warlock his little secret, and obeying every order the rest of the time.
So of course, everything had to go to hell soon after.
By the time he officially met Magnus Bane High Warlock of Brooklyn for the first time, he had spent over 6 years watching over him sporadically – not that he would ever confess to it.
Having a male soulmate was frowned upon – you had to pretend it was platonic to be accepted, no matter how untrue that could be – but a Downworlder? He would probably be seen as a traitor or a disgrace.
And Magnus didn’t have to know a poor little Shadowhunter was his soulmate either – he was immortal, Alec could just pretend he was merely a blip on his radar, no reason to inflict him even more pain when he knew very well he only had a few years before dying on the job.
By the Angel, caring about the warlock was turning out to be so exhausting and confusing already.
But back to their first meeting.
Alec found it ironic how this time, he didn’t have to be teleported to his soulmate because he was already right where and when he needed to be.
Huh, maybe if he made sure to ask Magnus for help in an official capacity, he could bypass the whole portal thing soulmate had going on? Surely if he was in mortal danger, calling for a powerful ally would make sense, Magnus would be altruist enough to help without seeing anything amiss and Alec could keep going the same without altering his whole life. And fate wouldn’t need to teleport Magnus to him if Alec was quicker.
Yeah, it sounded too complicated to work, Alec would just have to stay the best and keep himself away for any mortal danger – you know, even if Valentine was apparently back.
Spending time with Magnus felt good. Despite what he knew was looming on the horizon, he could not help but be even more interested in the warlock.
Bad ideas, he had to remind himself every day. It would only bring pain in the long run, to the both of them.
And yet …
“You unlocked something in me”
“I trust you”
Magnus even came to convince him to not get married to Lydia. Alec wished he had that choice but everything he had ever done was for others, for his family and his name, so that his siblings could have the life they wanted because Alec?
Alec would never get a happy ending.
Not as a gay Shadowhunter, and not a Magnus Bane’s soulmate.
Not even as the head of the Institute if he didn’t marry Lydia. They would take everything he had, what he had sacrificed himself for all those years and what would remain of him then? A bitter cold shell, a soldier with a soul of iron.
He couldn’t do that. Not to his family, not to his future self.
And yet, fate had other plans.
The very same morning, he sat in his room waiting for Izzy of Jace when the tell-tale colours of a teleportation starting appeared. He sighed but did not resist in any way.
He was expecting the scene he found. Magnus alone against the circle. Against his parents.
And he had no hesitation. He couldn’t obviously kill his parents, or Valentine, but he could slow down the others and let Magnus get away. Before he lost his warlock mark as a trophy for Valentine’s goons.
This time, he stayed far longer than necessary.
Magnus had portalled away but still, Alec kept listening, hidden behind a tree and his runes, for any scrap of information.
We’ll get him, promised Maryse with steel in her voice despite her ragged breaths. He lives in New York, where we should soon have power over the institute. It’s only a matter of time.
Cold dread filled Alec at hearing those words.
He hadn’t protected Magnus from anything like that so far – but then again, his time jumps were more than random – and although the warlock was more than capable of defending himself, he couldn’t imagine his mother breaking the accords so carelessly.
He’s always been arrogant, confirmed Robert. He might even come to us, and we’ll just have to snap our fingers to have him dead.
Valentine looked pleased, having forgotten for now that an ally seemed to have helped the warlock escape.
Except Alec stayed there long after everyone was gone.
He stayed there hours, playing the conversation on loop in his mind. It seemed so far from what his parents sounded like usually, and yet, he could still recognise their coldness and efficiency as warriors here.
He was still a bit shaky when he found his way back to the present – no even a second after he left, as usual – but had to put on a smile.
He was getting married after all, and even Magnus would not dare do anything to anger the Clave today.
Oh boy.
Seemed like he didn’t know Magnus all that well, he thought sarcastically before stopping right then and there as he looked at Magnus.
It was so much more than what he had felt for Jace and knowing that was his soulmate right here, willing to interrupt his wedding, because either he knew Alec wouldn’t be happy or because he thought they could have something?
That was a lot to take in. Especially because Alec hadn’t slipped once about the soulmate thing, and Magnus should still have no idea. No social or magical expectation, just him wanting Alec.
Enough, he snapped at his mother before kissing Magnus.
He was probably a coward for keeping secrets of that importance but right now, it was time to take a page out of Magnus’ book and make a statement.
It still didn’t stop his Randoms rescues, although with Valentine back and a treat, he had to be careful about what he was doing and how much danger he was putting himself in. That was quite a weird change for him. He had always been the one to take hits meant for others, his siblings mostly – though never to the point of needing more than an iratze. He was good, excellent even, and could without any problem compete with Jace for the title of best Shadowhunter of his generation.
He kept that part of him under wraps to keep an ace up his sleeve, and to avoid any awkward conversation. As much as he believed Jace and Izzy to be supportive, how was he supposed to say that he had found himself in danger so often without his angelic weapons that he had to improve in order to help his soulmate? And across time and space, please.
Alec laughed quietly, imagining what the conversation would sound like.
He had been joining Izzy, Jace and Clary to get the book of the white from Camille when another teleportation happened.
Fuck, cursed Alec, recognizing the bridge the moment he saw it.
But what he was surprised to see was that this time, Magnus did not seem to be in immediate danger. No, someone had already helped him.
Alec bit back his bitterness. It wasn’t his place.
He understood very quickly why he had been sent here when was left to pick up a clearly drunk and miserable Magnus Bane.
He didn’t mind. From what he was hearing, Camille had just betrayed him. Maybe he was only supposed to protect Magnus while he was clearly too weak to do so himself, but Alec thought the other might ned the company too.
Ah, Darling, thank you but I can manage, slurred magnus before fainting.
Chuckling under his breath, Alec guided him to a mansion nearby, checking his pockets for an address or some money. He thought he recognized the man – Ragnor Fell – that opened the door and threw him a fireball that burned part of his jacket when he saw his runes.
Alec quickly dropped Magnus before disappearing in a side alley, where a colourful portal was already waiting for him.
Did you fight a demon in the way here? Asked Izzy when she saw the state of his jacket.
Alec shrugged, eyes focusing entirely on Camille. He didn’t trust her at all, and he wouldn’t let her play them.
Unfortunately, one attack from Valentine and a mindfuck from Camille later, Alec was ready to kill them both for taking his parabatai and making Magnus vulnerable again.
And things didn’t calm down for him. Between Aldertree, the hunt for Valentine and his jumps on the past, Alec could barely find the energy to push himself out of bed some days.
Which was how he broke his promise to himself and under Iris’ spell, prepared to jump from the rooftop. Too much had happened, too much that he didn’t understand. Izzy kept secrets, dangerous ones, Jace was always on the verge of breaking down, he could feel it through his bond, and after failing to save Jocelyn, how could Alec think he was up to the task of saving Magnus?
So he jumped, always the coward.
And Magnus saved him. Gave him hope.
So he had decided to do the same.
He was back at this depressing bridge, the last place he wanted to be and yet, the place it might be the easiest to get a hold of Magnus.
Dear Magnus,
You don’t know me, yet. I am your soulmate. I have been helping you once or twice already, and I thought it would be polite to introduce myself. But because I am a Shadowhunter, a letter seemed like the best way to tell you what I wanted to say.
I know coming from a stranger, someone you don’t trust and an enemy maybe those words might mean nothing to you, but I promise you that you will be happy again. And I’ll do my best to make sure you get there, from the shadows.
Until the day I feel brave enough to confess everything, my identity and story, I’ll ask one thing from you.
Please keep this letter.
It is proof that someone cares, someone other than Ragnor.
Take care,
Your soulmate.
He left the letter addressed to Magnus Bane at Ragnor’s house. He trusted him to give it to him, once assured it wasn’t dangerous.
It wasn’t. It even had a protection rune on it.
Not a second after he dropped the letter, he was back at Magnus’ loft.
Only this time, it was Alec who needed to make Magnus feel better, and not a mysterious soulmate. Because Alec had hurt him, by not recognizing him in Valentine’s body. And Alec had almost killed him. So he’d be there for him.
Starting with all the cuddles his boyfriend wanted, staying the night so he could watch over his sleep and keep the nightmares at bay.
Of course, their repaired relationship was not exactly an equal one.
No matter what experience Magnus had that Alec didn’t, Alec had seen enough of Magnus’ past to be able to have a clear – and unfair too – view of his character.
The public persona versus the man he got to know, past and present.
And Magnus had no idea.
Funnily enough, while not much changed in their present, every time Alec found himself in the past, he had that silly habit of checking the date to see whether Magnus would try to creep up on him or not. He had almost managed once too!
Never underestimate a determined High Warlock of Brooklyn, he could always surprise you.
But secrets were hard, and Alec was so busy keeping his that he didn’t realise he was also lying to Magnus about the soul sword until it was too late. It had been a silly mistake, but now he had to deal with the consequences.
Alec even thought for a while he had fucked up completely his soulmate business when he stopped seeing Magnus completely. No present or past. No random transportation.
And then, the soul sword massacre happened.
He had feared the worst. He wouldn’t have been able to live with himself if he had been the reason for Magnus’ death, not after years of saving it, falling more in love every time.
And maybe that was one last cruel joke.
He was exactly where and when he needed to be to stop it, and he was absolutely powerless.
To say he was relieved to discover Magnus alive and well would be an understatement. But before he could make him understand fully how much he came to mean to him, Valentine launched one last attack, and Jace died, taking a piece of Alec with him.
No matter what his parabatai said, Alec knew that pain had been real. But he’d deal with that later.
He took a quick shower, changed and joined everyone at the bar to celebrate the end of the war. But to be honest, he only wanted to see Magnus.
It felt like too little had been said, and some things needed to be cleared up before they could really think about stating over their relationship.
So, for once in his life, Alec downed his drink, bottoms up, and headed to the door. He caught up easily with Magnus, letting him lead the way.
What do you know about soulmates? Asked Alec when the silence didn’t seem too welcoming anymore.
Magnus mostly repeated what Alec already knew.
It is said that warlock have soulmates too, commented Magnus, but I have never heard of one who met them. Or rather, had the chance to meet them and find out they were immortal. Many think it’s not worth the heartache.
Do you have one?
Alec bit the inside of his cheek at the precipitation with which he had asked the question.
He had always been curious about how it worked for the immortal ones.
Alec himself had spent a good part of his life chasing after monsters, to save people or to save Magnus’ life. But over the few centuries he had been alive, it was expected that he would be needed on more than one occasion. Especially once you added the “time travel” bit to the magic.
Alec still couldn’t quite wrap his head around the whole thing. How did it work? Did it just summon whoever version of him was the best suited to the situation? Definitely seemed like it most of the time, although sometimes, it felt like Magnus needed the company more than he needed saving.
Then again, isn’t apathy one of the dangers of an immortal life? The one leading to a… untimely death?
But how does it feel to have nothing? No portal taking you the angel knows where, no soulmate to save that you know of?
Not knowing whether you were worth having a soulmate.
I don’t know. Some people said I was theirs. Can’t quite believe it since you are supposed to only have the one, laughed Magnus bitterly.
There was so much Alec wanted to say to that. He should have started with the letter he had left so long ago, to prove to Magnus he was who he pretended to be, but then Magnus cut him off.
Alexander, if it is your way of letting me know you have found your soulmate and want to be with them
No!
Alec shut his mouth with an audible sound then winced. That was not the plan.
I mean yes. But no. Let me start again please?
He was desperate to make Magnus understand, and visibly relaxed against the cushions when Magnus nodded.
This might sound crazy, but I’ve got proof. It started when I was thirteen, I had my first transportation.
He summarized as efficiently as he could how he discovered who his soulmate was, what had happened, how he felt and why he kept silent all this time about him knowing his soulmate. He hesitated sometimes, not sure if he should be entirely honest, then decided that Magnus deserved the whole truth.
The thing is…
Alec took a deep breath, meeting Magnus’ curious gaze as confidently as he could.
You’re my soulmate. The one I sent this bizarre letter to over a century ago even if it was a few months ago for me.
Magnus raised a hand, stopping Alec in his tracks and asking for a bit of quiet. Alec obeyed, too nervous to even try and defend himself. Soulmate were almost sacred for Shadowhunters. Platonic soulmates especially.
Since he was parabatai with Jace, Alec was well aware that Magnus had thought for the longest time that they were platonic soulmates too – they weren’t, and they had known that from the very beginning. Jace’s soulmate was Clary as Alec had discovered earlier that day.
And hadn’t that put a lot of things into perspective, Alec thought bitterly.
Why? Finally asked Magnus looking at Alec from the corner of his eye. Why did I never get to rescue you? I can’t believe you didn’t get into any near-death experience.
You did save me plenty of times. I just made sure you were already there so there would no light show in case… you know…
In case I didn’t want to be your soulmate.
Mine, a mortal’s, a Shadowhunter’s… Take your pick.
Alec was grumbling by the end, but it was something he had thought about many times. He still felt like he didn’t deserve Magnus, and the heartache for him wasn’t worth the mess that Alec’s life had become.
He couldn’t shake the image of Magnus looking down that bridge out of his head.
He probably can’t shake your image jumping on his roof out of his, a snarky voice replied in his mind.
It was so complicated at first, to have you as a soulmate, and then Time travel!
Alec tried to laugh it off but didn’t quite manage it. It sounded more like a wounded animal.
I didn’t know what to do and it got so out of hand.
He really hoped Magnus would understand. The fiasco with the soul sword had shown him honesty was necessary, but he wasn’t used to that much communication. He might need a bit of patience on that front.
I think I understand. I did wonder about what I’d do if I ever met my soulmate, can’t say a few million possibilities didn’t cross my mind.
Magnus turned to face Alec completely, and gripped Alec’s hand, squeezing them gently. But Alec still wouldn’t look up, eyes staring at Magnus’ purple nail polish instead.
Ragnor did mention a tall, dark and handsome Shadowhunter as a possible soulmate, mused Magnus to lighten the mood with one of his stories. But it was eighty years ago, so it that was you, I need you to tell me about your skin care routine.
Alec laughed weakly. Trust Magnus to make him feel better in any circumstances.
Yeah, he threw a fireball at me once.
Magnus raised a curious eyebrow when Alec dared look up at him. He didn’t seem mad about the secrets or the soulmate thing. He just seemed to be enjoying talking about his old friend. Taking a chance, Alec asked if they could go back to the loft. Magnus accepted easily, keeping at least one of Alec’s hands in his while strutting the rest of the way.
His good mood seemed to be contagious because Alec could feel a smile forming on his face, making no efforts whatsoever to hide it. He was happy, or at least, really close to happy and it felt too good not to enjoy the moment.
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate? Offered Magnus as soon as they were inside his loft, enjoying the warmth surrounding them.
Hot chocolate.
Alec put down his coat, then helped Magnus take two mugs out of the cupboard, enjoying this simple moment. Soon enough, he found himself on the sofa, leaning on Magnus while they drank in silence.
No one mentioned the soulmate business again. Instead, Magnus did what he did best and told embarrassing stories about Ragnor to Alec, who was laughing more freely now than he had in a long while. Alec shared a few funny ones of Jace and himself when they started going on missions alone.
He had just finished retelling how he discovered that his parabatai had a phobia of ducks when he caught Magnus yawning discreetly. He forced himself to get up, and helped Magnus do the same so they could go to bed.
I love you, whispered Alec later when Magnus had finally drifted off in his arms, exhausted by their battle.
It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep too after that.
Waking up was a more complicated affair. He had barely opened his eyes that a maelstrom of colours took him on the other side of earth.
Falling back on his Shadowhunter training, Alec snapped to full awareness and examined everything around him. Magnus was apparently at a party somewhere in an Asian country, the oh so lovely Camille on his arm.
Alec was glad to see him looking better than he had the last time, and he seemed relaxed but not entirely unobservant. Which puzzled Alec.
Keeping to the shadows – he hadn’t changed out of his nightclothes which meant he only wore sweatpants and a tank top – Alec looked for a weapon, or anything he could do. There was probably a reason he had been transported without weapons or gear, and no matter how stupid the whole soulmate magic sometimes appeared to be, Alec had to believe it wouldn’t mess with Magnus’s timeline.
He found some clothes to cover himself with in an adjacent room. He swapped his sweatpants for leather pants that seemed strong enough, put on a complicated looking but easy to wear jacket and finally covered his neck rune with a scarf-mask looking piece of fabric. No need to advertise the fact that he was a Lightwood in case things went south.
Jace would give him so such shit for looking like that.
But he found no real weapon he could use, the only thing a baton. Which, yes, he knew how to fight with, but that wouldn’t do much damage in a real fight.
Speaking of, where was the danger?
The answer arrived a bit later, when a tall man entered the room, and Camille’s hand on Magnus’ arm tightened to the point where it was keeping him prisoner. Everyone scattered when the man barged in, but Alec had never seen him, and did not recognize him.
Seeing Camille offering Magnus – why wasn’t he fighting her? – like that was making him furious, but he had to stay calm and analyse the situation.
The baton was in his reach, and no one should be able to recognize him, covered head to toe as he was.
So he took it, attacked Camille first, forcing her to release Magnus and when he saw her hesitate between attacking him and running away, he understood the man was not such a threat after all. Otherwise, she would have been bleeding him dry already, but instead, she seemed more than happy to get away.
Typical, Alec scoffed before facing the intruder.
I’ve got him, announced Magnus next to him while moving his hands around, already preparing his spell.
Alec took a step back, giving him room to breathe and watched in awe as Magnus got rid of the intruder. He then clapped his hands and turned back to him.
Alec panicked and took a few steps back where there was less light.
I am afraid Camille got help to immobilize me, he frowned. You wouldn’t happen to know who helped her?
Alec dig through his memory but shook his head. Prior to the man’s entrance, nothing suspicious had happened. Camille had probably been smart enough to come here alone.  She was sneaky enough to do it.
He didn’t have time to hear the next question, he felt the tremors preceding the appearance of a portal. Magnus seemed to feel it too, because he turned his head to locate the newcomer, and Alec used this opportunity to flee, his own transportation happening as soon as he was outside Magnus’ view.
He arrived exactly where and when he left, on Magnus’ bed, except Magnus was awake.
Guess you really are my soulmate, Magnus mused when he saw Alec’s attire.
Sorry, Alec winced. I’ll go get changed.
He fled the room, locking himself in the bathroom to give him time to calm down. But when he was clean and changer, he had no choice but to face Magnus.
Magnus patted the bed next to him, and he stepped forward until he could sit. He fidgeted, unsure what he was about to hear.
Alexander, I love you, started Magnus. And despite how… incredible your time travel story may seem; I do believe you. I am so happy you’re my soulmate.
Thank the angel. Alec sagged against Magnus, feeling the relief wash over him. I love you so much.
He had been so scared of rejection. He sounded crazy every time he even thought about his adventures, how was he supposed to make others believe him?
But Magnus did. He always believed in Alec.
