OG Post | Character Layouts
It had all started with Price, the captain leading the way to something that eventually happened to all of them.
His missus had gotten pregnant, and he’d left service not even a month after, deciding that he was getting too old for it, anyway.
Johnny had been next, honorably discharged after taking a shot to the head, barely surviving, but deemed too fucked up to go back into service.
Then Gaz had quit, claiming he was going back to London, to help run his parent’s quaint little restaurant since they were getting older. All of them really knew it was because of the pretty lady now in his life, though. They'd seen the picture he kept of her in his wallet.
Simon, the stubborn bastard that he was, had only thrown in the towel once he learned that a fling he’d had a few years ago had resulted in a kid he’d never learned about. He’d left after scrolling through the random alcoholic he’d fucked a few years ago’s Instagram, finding a blond haired-blue eyes kid in the background of one of her posts.
He’d gotten custody of the girl, named Brianna, which wasn’t surprising considering the kid’s mom had been a substance and drug abuser.
The old captain had a second kid, a little girl named Josie, with his older boy, John. Everyone just called him Jr, though.
Gaz had a sassy little girl named Charlotte and affectionately called her Charlie.
Soap had found himself a Scottish wife and settled down in London as well, where her family happened to live. They’d had a girl too, naming her Isla, though friends called her Is, or Isa.
They’d grown up together in London close by, their parents just calling each other members of 141 their “uncles.” No one questioned it, and considering the tiny bits of questionable information each of you had on your father’s, no one wanted to ask questions.
Poor Jr had been the oldest by a year, but still the “baby” of the group, since he was constantly bullied by Isa and her quick wit. It didn’t help that Brianna’s little snorts and Charlie’s laughs only encouraged the menace.
“Seriously, I don’t see what’s so funny.” Jr muttered, a hint of pink on his cheeks as his voice cracked. Isla was relentless, mocking his cracking voice while she cackled.
“Righ’, nothin’ wrong with me. All normal over here.”
She said, making her voice much deeper, and forcing little kinks and cracks that Jr scowled out. Charlotte smirked and snickered quietly, and Isla saw Bri’s shoulder shake in silent laughter.
“It’s not funny.” Jr replied, a little frown on his face unlike his usual scowl, a hint of insecurity in those big, brown eyes. A small sign that he was slightly upset, or getting close to it anyway. Bri’s silent laugh immediately disappeared, and Charlie frowned.
Isa clapped him over the shoulder from beside him, where they were sitting in Kyle’s parent’s restaurant that he mainly ran now.
“Ay, didn’t mean it y’know? Jus’ playing with ya, Jr.” She said, a grin still on her face, but a bit more apologetic this time. He shrugged her off, relaxing back into the booth.
“‘S fine, wha’ever.” He said, a sure sign of his forgiveness. He forgave easily, a bad habit of his. Charlie reached a slender hand out, snatching a cheese and bacon bit-covered fry out from the bright red and white paper basket they were in at the center of the table. The cheese stretched, long and warm.
She took a bite, humming at how good it was.
“Tha’ good?” Bri asked, raising a brow. Charlie gave a little nod, chewing before speaking.
“Good as hell, if I do say so myself-“
Kyle’s head poked out from the kitchen, where his parents were both back cooking up whatever orders were up. Plenty of kids came by after school, because of how close it was, and how quick the food came out. Charlie would know since she was here every day after school. Sometimes she got to help out in the kitchen.
He raised a brow at Charlotte.
“Language.” He said, before going back into the kitchen.
Jr smirked, happy to have something to get back at his friend for now.
“Yeah, Garrick, watch your language~” He drawled, dragging the sentence out while Isla snorted in amusement, some water accidentally coming out of her nose.
“Ewww-“
“Not on the fries!”
Brianna only watched in what looked like mild amusement as she pulled the fry basket away just in time, using the stereotypical brown restaurant napkins to wipe the water up. Loud, booming laughter came out of Isa after she’d swallowed or sprayed whatever water had been in her mouth. Her leg bounced under the table while she rubbed her nose.
“Hurts me bloody nose,” She said with a crooked grin they had all come to love.
“Hurts my eyes,” Jr said in a wry tone, giving a tiny little disgusted look to the soaked pile of napkins now near Isa on the table. Charlie made a gagging sound.
“Now the fries are ruined!”
“Now, don’ be dramatic, they’re just fi-“
“You sprayed snot water on them-!”
“Would ya quit cutting me off?!”
As the others bickered, Bri casually grabbed a fry and took a bite, unbothered. The others watched and sighed, deciding that if Brianna wasn’t falling over dead from it, then maybe they were all right. Jr watched carefully as Charlie took a fry and a hesitant bite, then followed and did the same.
“See, told’ya.”
“Shut it, MacTavish.”
Isla rolled her eyes, devouring the fries at an unprecedented rate. Her shoulder-length brown hair was held back behind her ears, glinting just right in the setting sun that it looked almost red in some strands. The diner was going to close soon. Then Bri was going to walk them home, per usual. Probably because of the knife she kept on her, paranoid as she was. Isla kept a Swiss Army knife on her with a tiny knife, scissors, and even a nail file on it.
Charlie sometimes used it in class to file down her nails into shape when the teachers weren’t looking.
John would always give them disappointed looks from the side of the room where he always sat. Closest to an exit, always.
Being children of ex-military did lead to a bit of paranoia always, even if you didn’t know what it was that your father’s had done to be so secretive or have such bad PTSD. Maybe it was that paranoia that had Isla up so late at night, pushing the button on the hilariously pink Disney Princess walkie-talkies they’d all gotten one year.
“Anyone up?”
She asked, peeking out of her window and gazing out at a light in the street. Looked like a flashlight to her. A voice responded a minute or two later, interrupting Isa’s leg bouncing. Her hands fidgeted with the walkie.
“Why.” Bri’s gravelly, I-just-woke-up voice was the one to reply. She’d always been a light sleeper, so it didn’t exactly surprise Isla that a walkie message would keep her up.
“Someone poking around outside m’ house. Any o’ your family out visiting, or sumethin?” Isa asked, frowning as she saw the dim flashlight turn away, the shadowy figure not fully visible against the yellow streetlight’s beams. The light turned her way, and she dropped to the floor below the window, breathing now a lot faster.
“No.” Bri said bluntly.
Jr suddenly decided to join the conversation then, it seemed, as he spoke up, his staticky, cracking voice echoing over the radio.
“Why the bloody hell would anyone be out this late?” He groggily asked, and there was some silence on both ends as Isla watched the shadowy figure walk down the street, in the direction of Charlie’s house, but also the school. They were down the same street, after all.
“Wan’ to go find out?” Briana’s voice, now a bit more awake and alert, asked over the radio. Bri wasn’t one for late-night adventuring, or anything really for fun, Isa thought, so she must either be concerned or mildly curious. Her dad would kill her if he knew she was sneaking out to spy on suspicious people.
“We really shouldn’t-“ Jr began before Isa cut him off.
“Sure, meet me at the house. All black clothes, you get the deal. Bring the walkies, too.”
“What about Charlie?” Jr asked.
“Yeah, what about Charlie?” Charlotte’s voice then spoke up, and Isa could already picture the little snort Bri would give at that, and the way Jr’s cheeks would go slightly pink.
“Meet you in five.” Bri replied, no hint of shame or apology in her tone for almost leaving Charlotte out. That started the race against the clock to get ready before the mystery person got too far to track.
Practically ripping her pajamas off as quietly as she could, Isa changed into a pair of black sweats and a black hoodie. Better to blend into the streets. Her Swiss Army knife remained in her pocket, clasped onto some of the fabric.
Her fingers wrapped around the cold bottom of her bedroom’s window, slowly sliding it up and cringing at the creaking it made. She needed to oil the thing or something, before it woke her dad up one of these days. He was a light sleeper, after all. Always waking up to the tiniest sound, like when she got random 3 am motivation to rearrange all the furniture in her room or organize her bookshelf by color in the middle of the night.
Hoisting herself up onto the window’s ledge, the cool night air kissed her tan skin as she slowly crept out, closing the window but leaving it just a bit open. Just enough for her to get back in. She’d done this before, it was more like muscle memory at this point. Sure, sometimes she’d switch it up so nobody got suspicious of why there were fresh marks of fingerprints disturbing the dust on her window’s ledge.
Her dad would surely notice.
The grass cracked lightly under her feet as she walked carefully out, the cold biting against her ankles where her socks and sweatpants didn’t overlap. It was dark tonight, the moonlight not shining nearly enough, and the streetlights dimmed from their constant use. Lord knows no one would replace them with newer ones. Not in this area.
Creeping down the street, keeping eyes out for anyone nearby, not seeing anyone other than a few homeless, or some skeletal-looking drug addicts with glazed-over looks in their eyes. Cutting down an alleyway, and hopping a few chain link fences, she eventually found their little meeting spot.
It was a boarded-up building, something that had previously been a home but had been foreclosed when the old woman owning it had a stroke and died in it. The stench of death wasn’t very noticeable now, but it was bad enough that no one bought it, and it had been foreclosed on, windows and entrances boarded up.
Of course, no one had noticed where the back window was missing a little plywood.
Isla crouched down, walking over to the house. A loose branch from one of the overgrown bushes snagged her hair, at which she grumbled and tugged it free, hissing when she felt a few pieces of hair rip free from her scalp.
She put her hands on the cold brick ledge of the house, hopping in as the brick scraped against her fingertips. Her hands patted at her pants for a moment, cursing when she didn’t feel a flashlight she could’ve sworn she brought. The house was pitch black at this hour, and smelled like moldy carpet and old people, a faint hint of rotting, too.
She slipped her phone out of her pocket, turning the light on, only to yelp and jump back when Bri’s face greeted her, an amused smile on her lips.
“Hell’s balls, you really gotta stop w’ that, Bri-“
“I think it’s hilarious.”
“‘Course you do.”
With a sigh, Isa turned her flashlight on, finding the little wooden table with some dents in it in the center of the demolished kitchen that they always sat at, she took her walkie-talkie with Tiana’s face on it and set it down there. Brianna’s Mulan walkie-talkie followed.
Pausing a moment as she thought, Isa then turned to face Bri.
“How did ya even get here ‘fore me?”
Brianna paused, a hint of something like deliberation in her eyes before she spoke. The blond began popping her fingers, a nervous habit.
“Had an argument wit’ m’ dad. Needed some air.” She said with a shrug, blue eyes now watching to see what Isa would think. Always watching, always thinking. Sometimes Isla thought she was more paranoid than Jr, and that was saying something.
She simply gave a little bob of her head, not asking anything further. If she’d wanted to share more, she would’ve. It was like watching a flower slowly bloom and open up, if you forced it, then it wouldn’t look right, and it would die quickly.
A heavy silence ensued, which was quickly interrupted by muffled cursing and feet lightly hitting the floor. Charlotte was here.
“We ought to trim that tree, keeps snagging my hair.”
She muttered under her breath, and Jr arrived almost right after, sliding into the window’s brick ledge where he sat, eyes strained, not yet adjusted to the darkness, as he looked down. The poor lad was afraid of heights, they all knew.
“It’s 4 feet, Jr.”
Bri spoke, the tone being more sardonic than anything. Jr sighed, and Isa saw his eyes close as he winced, sliding off the ledge, and releasing a tiny squeak when his feet hit the ground. To think that this was a 17-year-old. He did not act it.
He sighed, walking over to the table, where everyone had now gathered. His Cinderella walkie was placed on the table next to Charlie’s Elsa one.
“What’re we here for, again?” The boy asked with a slight yawn in his voice, rubbing his eyes. Isa rolled her eyes at his apparent exhaustion.
“I saw someone dressed in all black, poking around my front yard with a flashlight in the dead of night, that’s why.”
She said, giving him a look, as if to say that was obvious, while Charlie frowned, lips pressing into a line.
“That’s not terrible, I mean, we’ve done worse and our neighborhood didn’t freak out.” She pointed out with a shrug, and Bri nodded.
“Much worse.” She agreed with a grin in her tone.
This was much better than the time you’d all tried to fry some dead roadkill you’d found by throwing it at an electrical box, only to accidentally make the local's electricity go out for almost an entire week. The electricians must’ve been confused when they found a dead goose beside a smashed control panel. You’d all dipped after accidentally breaking it, anyway.
Or the time you’d all gone to a haunted house, and Charlie had faked having a panic attack so convincingly that one of the girls dressed up as a vampire began crying and called her parents to come pick her up. Poor Charlotte had tried to redeem herself from there, but the damage had already been done.
Brianna had also intimidated a teacher into changing her schedule, once. All of the group had relatively the same schedule in your little high school of around 500 people, but for whatever reason Bri had gotten none of the same classes, so she’d gone on down to the principal's office and forced the principal's hand somehow. How she did it, none of them knew, all she’d said afterward was that she “Knew things.” as if that explained anything.
And Junior…poor Junior, he was always the slowest of the group, for whatever reason, always being found or caught when you all pulled some ridiculous shenanigans. Or there was the one time Josie had put hair dye from her mum’s closet in Price’s shampoo, which had been disastrous. Josie blamed Junior for the entire thing, and Price had been so mad, he’d believed it. Grounded for almost three weeks.
“Let’s just check it ou’, and shave her head if it ain’t worth our time.” Brianna suggested, and they all glanced at each other, nodding their heads in mild agreement. Isla blinked at that, before her face contorted in disbelief.
“Really? I thought you were better than thi-“
“Any ideas on where they went?” Jr interrupted, and Charlie spoke up.
“Mentioned somethin’ on the radio about down the road, right?”
Isa sighed, seeing she wasn’t going to get anywhere with trying to protest the head-shaving in her possibly near future.
“Aye, they went down the road.”
She replied in a slightly annoyed tone, and Bri nudged her shoulder a bit, grabbing her walkie and shoving it into her pocket.
“Perk up, maybe we’ll find somethin’. Got a plan, Jr?”
At the mention of a plan, Jr perked up, picking up pieces of broken ceiling and rocks to represent each of them, and a large stick to represent the school.
“Well, if they went down the road then that’s towards the school. I was thinking we could split up, me and Charlie, Isa, and Bri. We take the alleyways down, I take the right, you all take the left, and we meet at the school, where we can recombine in the back.”
He spoke quickly, fingers drumming against his thigh, working himself into a frenzy while talking. Everyone gave nods, before they split into their separate groups, all taking the same window out, before splitting into their groups. They each gave one last goodbye, a little mock salute before heading out into the darkness.
Junior and Charlotte
“I'm starting to think Isa’s just paranoid.” Charlie said, glancing at the surroundings of the alleyway around them. Scurrying rats, bugs, little grimy posters, and pictures posted on the walls or the dumpsters. She didn’t see anything.
Junior sighed, continuing to walk. He wasn’t the most quiet, which made sense, considering his size. Even if Brianna was taller than him and deathly silent.
“Look, we’re all a bit jumpy. Pretty normal for us, considering our dads.”
He said quietly, crouching down as he walked, eyes darting around to look for anyone. It had been almost fifteen minutes and they hadn’t spotted anyone yet. Charlie stepped on an empty can, crunching it beneath her foot, and Jr jumped at it, immediately looking for something to change the subject before Charlotte made fun of him.
“What did they even do? I mean, obviously, they were mili’ary, but my dad never talks about it.”
He said randomly, and Charlie continued walking through the alley, him clumsily following along. She did pause the slightest moment though, head cocking slightly to the side as he watched her take in his words. It must’ve caught her interest, and he’d gotten lucky.
“They were special forces. Dealing with terrorists, and covert shit.” She said quietly, in an almost hushed tone, temporarily pausing.
He raised his brows.
“How do you know?” Junior asked in the most innocent tone he could muster. Sure, he could see his dad, and definitely Bri’s dad as special forces in the military, but sweet little Kyle? Or Isla’s rowdy but affectionate dad? No wonder they never talked about their pasts.
“Went through some files on my dad’s computer when I was bored. Whole lotta locked stuff, so I found a back door into it, and read it.” She said in that same quiet tone but with a bit more shame in it this time.
“I shouldn’t have, he would’ve told me when he thought I was ready, but-“
“Hey, it’s fine.” Junior interrupted in a soft tone. He wouldn’t let her stand there and talk bad about herself. Not when…
“I would’ve done the same thing if I’d known how to.”
She glanced back at him when he said that, a bit of shock on her face. John Price Jr was the good kid, the one who listened to what he was told and was nice, strong, and compassionate, always helping out. She never took him for someone who could be nosy or disobedient. She guessed she still had a lot to learn about him. A muffled voice came from the walkie by her side, but she ignored it. They were almost to the school anyway.
Not knowing what to say, she stayed silent, looking to change the subject, when the school appeared in view from the left side wall. She peeked her head out, looking at the school a second before Junior. Blue and red lights. Cars. People. She shut the walkie off. Jr’s must’ve died by now.
“Hey, there’s the-“
A hand slammed over his mouth as he was pulled down into the alleyway. His mumbled protests against Charlie’s hand quickly stopped when he heard the footsteps, and then the voice that came.
“And you were alone in the school?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Brianna.
Brianna and Isla
They were crouched in the old, crumbling alleyway, moving as quickly and quietly as they could whilst keeping their eyes out for anyone nearby.
Isla had been rattling off for almost fifteen minutes about something, Brianna couldn’t even figure out what she was talking about half the time, but she was trying to listen. A good friend would listen patiently, even when they had a pounding headache and wanted to scream at someone. Her patience was waning.
She already had anger problems in the first place, and that thought only led to another, one that infuriated her more than anything.
The argument.
“Hey, are you even listening?”
Isla was prone to her anger as well, but hers wasn’t as destructive. Isa could express herself openly, something Brianna was more than jealous of. She made it seem so easy, but anytime Bri tried to open up, the words got stuck in her chest, and her heart stopped beating. It was like a giant wall stood between her tongue and her mind. It refused to be saddled and obey properly.
It was so frustrating, so annoying-
“I said, are you even-?”
“Just shut up.”
She ground out without even realizing. A hint of annoyance and hurt flashed on Isa’s face, before going back to normal. Bri paused. Stopped. Isa looked back, stopping too, as if hopeful.
And the words got stuck.
They were stuck and refused to come out. Like a clogged pipe that no matter how you pumped at it, refused to unclog. It made her want to rip everything to shreds. But maybe, just this once, she might be able to say something.
“I’m..”
She began, words unsteady. Isa’s brows rose, confusion and hope in her gaze. She was that confused, just because Brianna might be apologizing? It made her angry all over again, angry at everything, angry at her father, angry at anyone she could be angry with.
It was one word, it shouldn’t be hard, really.
Sorry.
Five letters.
Just get five letters out, she told herself. It shouldn't be this hard. She should be able to do this. Opening her mouth to speak, her throat suddenly dried up, and she began to whisper something.
“I’m..s-“
There. A flash of movement in the corner of her eye. A shadow. A tiny, dimmed light. The same kind of light that would come from her flashlight when she took one battery out, just so it wasn’t as bright, so it wouldn’t hurt her dog’s eyes when she went to get a midnight snack. Turning the lights on always woke up dad.
She needed to stop thinking about dad.
Isla caught it too, a look in her eye saying they would continue that conversation later, but now, they were on the hunt. A little wave of her hand, and they were both moving, crouched down, interweaving between the alleyway’s dumpsters and trash piles.
The shadowy figure with the dimmed light moved exactly where they thought it would go, into the school. Their entrance? Hopping the chain link fence and using an unlocked door in the side to get in. The school locked all of its doors at night.
Brianna would know.
She and Charlie had once attempted to break in when Charlie had left her notebook in her locker by accident when she needed it for the test the following day. All the doors and windows were secure and locked. Especially the one on the side of the building that the shadowy person was now using.
“They must have keys to the buildin’.” Bri muttered, and Isa nodded.
“So either staff or student.”
“Not necessarily.”
“Wha’ever. Let’s follow ‘em.”
They crept up to the door, still partly ajar but closing rapidly on its own. Isla reached there first, using her foot and wedging it to stop the door from closing further. Bri nodded and walked further in.
The school looked as normal as it could at night. Lights off. Everything undisturbed. No sign of anyone, other than the tiniest distant footsteps she could make out. Towards the front of the building. Maybe the stairwell?
Jerking her head to Isa, they both began carefully walking, rolling on the balls of their feet to make their footsteps as silent as could be. They’d need it.
The footsteps abruptly stopped, and they did too. Peeking around a corner into the main entrance area, Isa saw the front office’s door open.
“In the front office, we should tell the others.” She murmured as quietly as possible. Bri shook her head, and Isa silently asked why with her expression.
“Walkies are too loud. Don’ want to scare ‘em off before we see anything useful.”
It was reasonable, Isa would admit. The others could catch up later. They’d arrive here soon, anyways, and probably quietly take a back exit. Considering Jr’s chronic planning out things, he’d get it all figured out.
Seeing that the stranger wasn’t getting out of the office, the two of them dared move closer and closer, until both of them were right by the door. Peeking in, Brianna found…nothing.
There was no one there. No shadowy stranger, or any odd people.
But the filing cabinets were open. Files and papers were strewn everywhere across the room, and a few things were knocked over and broken. There was no possible way the stranger could’ve done this within that amount of time, let alone do it without alerting them. Broken mugs, picture frames, dented cabinets…
“Somethin’ ain’t right. Someone purposefully shined a flashlight in the direction of your house, walked here slowly enough that we could catch up, and then we found the office trashed?”
Brianna said, standing fully up, before kicking around the pile a bit. Bright, flashing lights blinded her vision next, and Isla’s hands yanked her down.
“Police. Someone called ‘em. We’ve got to tell the Charlie and Jr-“
“Give me a minu’e, yeah?”
Something had caught her eye in that stack of files. Names. Numbers. Familiar ones, too.
She heard Isla radioing the others in the background, only for no reply to be heard. Her hand reached out to comb through the files, and Isla sighed, putting the walkie down, and beginning to help her.
“What are you lookin’ for?”
“There was somethin’ in here. Somethin’ familiar.”
“Are you really gonna get us arrested for something ‘familiar’?”
“I’ll do wha’ever I want, and you can right well piss off if you don’t agree.”
“Whatever, just hurry up, they’re coming.”
Footsteps, and keys jingling from outside. She heard the knob for the front door turn. One more second, they just needed one more second to get this file-
And then she saw it.
The words blurred together for some of the first sentences, some were blacked out with marker, and others were simply marked through with a line saying [REDACTED]. But there was one line she recognized all too well.
Simon “Ghost” Riley.
She took the paper, shoved it in a Manila folder, and pushed it into Isa’s hands as she pushed her friend backward, into a storage closet. The door of the closet clicked behind her. Isla didn’t move, not when the police officer caught sight of Bri, the flashlight and gun pointing in her direction.
“Hands! Let me see hands!”
Brianna did what she was told, sticking her hands in the air, and not approaching the cop. It was a woman. Maybe in her mid-20s, looked like the no-nonsense type. Red lipstick. Darker skin. Hair that had been recently silk-pressed.
“Walk out slowly, and keep your hands in the air.”
She obeyed that, too. Walking slowly out, each step measured and purposeful. The hands and arms remained in the air. She was so fucking done for when her dad found out-
Brianna refused to let herself think about that.
“What’s your name?”
“Brianna Riley, ma’am.”
“Why are you breaking into a school after hours?”
“Forgot m’ work, ma’am, figured I might as well come get it.”
The officer glanced over at the trashed office and raised a brow.
“And that?”
“Already there when I arrived, ma’am.”
She didn’t believe her. It was clear. Honestly, if Brianna were in that cop’s shoes, she wouldn’t believe her either. Two intruders in one night, and a teenager found in a trashed office? It was painfully clear what probably happened. Except she was telling the truth.
“Alright, well you’re coming with me, and we’re going to work this out. Keep your hands in the air, and walk slowly.”
Her gun stayed on you the entire time, even as you passed an alleyway, not daring to glance at who you knew must’ve been Jr and Charlie hiding there.
“And you were alone in the school?”
“Yes ma’am.”
When she got into the car, the officer gave her a rundown of her charges, only minor ones since she wasn’t an adult, basically only receiving a fine of $500, something she could pay because of her shitty fast-food job in town, Brianna Riley knew one thing.
Her dad was going to kill her.

Frequency Chapter 11 Snippet
“Ah, there you are my niece!” Lady Chao’s voice rang across the room.
They all turned their heads to find Neji and Tenten by the doorway, dressed in matching formal wear. Tenten’s dress was a rich red with a keyhole clasp at her collar, the side slits were high and her muscular legs were on full display as she walked. Her hair was braided, buns were decorated in hair pins and sticks, her ruby earrings were shining bright and she had a matching fan strapped to her wrist. Her makeup was dark, and yet brought out her chocolate eyes that had spects of gold illuminating from them. Her lips glazed with a red pigment. Neji was sporting a deep merlot top with long sleeves and matching pants. His hair untied with his curse mark covered by a black silk headband. He had his elbow bent as Tenten clenched his bicep, clearly a bit uncomfortable by the amount of people she would have to interact with. The Hyuga’s eyes glanced at his teammate, who lifted his chin in silent understanding. A small smile came to Lee’s face as he watched the two of them be approached by a crowd; they really did look good together.
Tenten was introduced to many different business men, some of which already knew Neji. They congratulated her on her engagement (She supposed that her aunt had flaunted the news as soon as Tenten had told her when they arrived) into the Hyuga clan and asked Neji about business topics. The Hua shinobi was actually mesmerized as she watched Neji interact with the crowd; he held himself as if he was Lord Hiashi. He was calm, collected, and knew exactly what to say. His charm was spewing from his face, and he even forced a laugh when one of the business partners said something that was only moderately funny. Tenten looked around as they spoke, her friends were mingling as well, her younger cousin sticking by Rock Lee as they walked around. The music had started and people continued to drink and be merry. Dinner was served and they all sat. Tenten and Neji sat with the Hua family at the head of the table, Tenten seated to the right of her Aunt Chao-Xing with Neji to her left. Kai sat on Chao’s right with their parents next to her. Team Kakashi and Lee sat with Haitao, and a few other of Tenten’s cousins (Kai-Ming’s kids who were about sixteen and seventeen). The head of the Hua family raised a toast to her niece for a healthy and prosperous marriage as well as continued success in her shinobi career. After dinner, the mingling continued…a bit too much for Tenten’s liking. She and Neji were getting questions about various topics of if they would relocate to the Land of Rivers? Will Tenten take over the family due to her marriage and being the oldest grandchild? How many children would she have? They’re so fucking nosey…is this really how they talk? So casually? The bunhead answered the questions with very vague responses and a forced smile, the sides of her mouth twitching slightly. Lady Chao had suddenly appeared to whisk Neji away to a group of her other business partners to be introduced to from…the Land of Snow? Tenten wasn’t sure, but she took that as an excuse to pardon herself and hustled over to Lee, who was leaning against the wall on the far side of the room. He greeted her with a bright smile.
“You look beautiful, Ten.”
Tenten returned the smile and stood next to him, leaning against his arm.
“This is way too much for me.” She murmured. “Neji is better at this than I am.”
Rock Lee offered his arm to her, which she took and rested her cheek against his bicep.
“Well, it would seem as though Lord Hiashi brings him along to such events often. It is as if he is in his natural element.”
“I guess,” Tenten hummed as she eyed Neji from across the room. “My aunt is certainly eating him up. I can’t tell who she's happier to see; me or Neji.”
Lee shook his head. “Do not think about it too hard, Lotus.”
“Yeah, yeah.” she groaned. “I’m so tired. So much happened today. I just want to finish my report and sleep.”
The green beast nodded in understanding, between the fire, saving her cousin, and hunting for clues, she deserves a rest. As Tenten began to grumble to herself about how much she couldn’t stand dressing up in such a way for a stupid dinner party, a realization had hit Lee.
“Tenten,” he looked down at her. “You are…allowing me to touch you.”
The brunette looked up at him curiously. She was holding his arm comfortably. Her body hadn’t tensed and she actually craved Lee’s comforting touch. A smile spread wide across his face; he was happy she was returning to herself again. The bunhead rubbed her cheek against his warm bicep; it wasn’t her old self unfortunately, but a new version of herself that still wanted the same things she used to want. The bowl cut shinobi pulled her into a side hug. He mumbled something incoherent to himself and continued to look out into the large crowd with Tenten attached to him. Tenten paid it no mind though, she was people watching. After a moment, she felt a shiver go down her spine and glanced to her far left. Her eyes had locked onto a taller man wearing a black suit, his hair slicked back and he was looking right at her. She blinked, feeling a bit uncomfortable because she absolutely loathed being stared at. But there was something familiar about his face…
Then, his eyes flashed violet for a split second and changed back into their black disguise.
Tenten stood at attention, suddenly alert at the man. He finished his conversation with the group before walking over to her. Lee hummed as he noticed his presence. The man with violet eyes bowed slightly to her.
“Lady Hua,” he smiled. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Allow me to introduce myself as well as my fellow colleagues.”
Tenten stared at him hard. Her hesitation was noticed by her teammate next to her. Lee looked at her curiously, wondering why she’s hesitating. A chance…if it’s him. She pursed her lips together. Only one way to find out. The weapons mistress tapped on Lee’s arm, stating that she would return. The man held out his hand to her, to which she slowly slid her fingers onto his palm. A formal touch as he kept his elbow up and led her through the crowd. Rock Lee watched as she walked off with the man, his hand went to his radio.
“I want…to help you, Tenten.” he said. “It seems as though we are looking for similar things; I am hunting down the monsters who killed my best friend…and you are looking for your father’s life work. Am I correct?”
Tenten’s eyebrows pushed downwards on her forehead. How could he have known? Then again, why else would she even be in Takumi Village? There had to be some price to this exchange.
“I think we both can help each other out here…” he continued casually. “That is, if you want my help. You’re a grown young lady, you can make your own decisions.”
The energy in the area shifted. Tenten’s spine tingled as she felt another pair of eyes on her but she didn’t dare to glance beside her. Her pinky twitched, as if something were pulling at it slightly, a chakra source perhaps. She watched as the violet eyed man cocked an eyebrow as she had appeared to be considering his offer. She would be conspiring with a criminal, technically. However, this was her father’s best friend. His story seemed to have checked out, although she still found it unsettling that he had cornered her cousin. Behind him, Tenten could see a figure leaning against a tree not too far from their current location. Her attention only slightly wavered as she brushed it off and used her fan to cover her mouth.
“I am going to take your hesitation as an acknowledgement that we are being watched.”
Tenten’s eyes grew wide as she looked at him.
“You are very intelligent for that. It seems as though you may not trust your bodyguard either. Good, trust no one.” Akaji smiled in amusement. “I think we will get along well.”
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a sealing tag. The characters were written in bright red ink that intrigued the weapons mistress. She plucked it from his fingers and eyed it. His name was at the center of the seal. Just as she is able to transport weapons from her storage through her seals, people can use seals to transport themselves. Like the fourth Hokage, Minato was able to “teleport” using the seals on his kunai and transport himself quickly once they were planted in the desired location.
“You can summon a clone of me, or send me things. There are multiple ways to use this seal as you already know.” he shoved his hands into his pockets. “I will be looking forward to hearing from you, Lady Tenten.”
Akaji finally pivoted his body to face the figure behind him. The weapons mistress nearly gasped at his sudden action.
“I almost didn’t notice you there. You are quite the ANBU.”
The figure stepped forward and Tenten pursed her lips together. He was there the whole time? How did he know I was out here? The ANBU’s white and blue mask flashed as he got closer. The beak of the bird represented more present and detailed. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his black shinobi pants, he relaxed his stance.
“This conversation has been dragging on…wouldn’t you say, Lady Hua?”
Tenten’s eyebrows arched in concern but nodded. “R…right.”
Akaji chuckled and lifted his chin to the ANBU. “For such a talented kunoichi, I am very surprised you have such a bodyguard…his chakra feels too aggressive for you, my dear.”
Tenten could almost imagine the look behind that mask. He had made himself known on purpose as a threat to Akaji. Dragging this conversation on further would cause some suspicion of her whereabouts sooner or later, she supposed. Especially since she had many people to mingle with while her aunt showed her off to everyone.
“If you find me aggressive, then you really have no idea what you’re really in for.” the ANBU replied.
The weapons mistress held back a chuckle; he was referring to her own chakra. Tenten had spent years building her chakra and attempting to learn how to better control it. She was still a bit low on that end, but she had chakra that was comparable to Gai when he summoned his inner gates.
“Before this turns into some bitch fight,” she finally spoke. “I will consider it. Now, I must return to the event.”
Akaji nodded, still amused and curious about the agent behind him. “I will be awaiting your call then.”
With a swift hand sign, Akaji figure disappeared into a pile of ash. The two shinobi stared at the remains for a moment. He is very talented with his clones, Tenten thought. Her gaze shifted to the ANBU.

what is lion's whole... situation.
what is up w/him & evie.
why is evie a cryptid.
could evie be popular? like, if she tried? i feel like yes
norie & nora my beloveds!!!!!!! BESTIES OF ALL TIME. idea: if there was like a younger girl version of donovan, would norie go for her? feel like she would
how do the what you make ppl feel abt bakery girlies. who do they like the best? who do they hang out with?
of thea & jaheira & jenny & giles: which of them would hook up w/each other if not in established couples, which of them would get along great, and would any of them have threesomes/foursomes
who are jaheira's kids? do they hang out w/the bakery girls? who are they closest to?
why was elodie not also adopted by thea. what was she like
who are roslin's other family members? what?
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
would brie get along with any of them. whom.
ANYWAYS THEY'rE AMAMZING
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING ALL MY QUESTIONS WITH AWESOME ANSWERS
<3
!!!! HI THANKS !!!! SO MUCH !!!! i literally love talking about these girls this is making my evening <3333
sooooo
marigold gets into like a really weird passive aggressive Thing with willow because they both have a complex and they both need to be the weirdest smartest most adorable girl in the room and honestly there's a non zero chance they have some kind of xander/cordy makeout about it where it's so clear this is not what should be happening and yet it is for sure what's happening. she's tight with giles. this makes it worse
evie gets along really, really, really well with spike and drusilla, specifically because spike has a lot of experience dealing with women who communicate unconventionally and need a little extra support to function, and evie is incredibly forthright and sweet (and, crucially, unafraid of them both). i don't know if there's a romantic aspect to it but i know for certain that evie takes tea with drusilla and the two communicate with a lot of warmth and mutual respect.
roslin has an uncharacteristically shy crush on oz. i don't really think this helps marigold's standing with willow At All. she also really enjoys bothering giles because she thinks his life choices merit some general bullying. leave the teenage girls alone man
norie is outraged by anya's attempts to make herself small and appealing and tries to chase xander down and kill him to death about it. throws herself into being anya's self-help manual in a way that is very, very, very, very gay.
thea is so immediately obsessed with jenny it's not even funny but handles it SO BADLY by defaulting to her hundreds of years of Bluntly Flirtatious Womanizer and just going all in. jenny is delighted by the attention and even though thea is not necessarily her type in terms of personality. hot salt and pepper butch, yknow. in any au where these women meet the scoobies, giles and thea have been long term college friends for some time (i can do what i want), so the energy is very much "STOP FUCKING FLIRTING WITH MY WIFE???? STOP THAT" (giles) vs "man if your wife's looking at me when i flirt with her maybe you're not treating her right" (thea). this is the best day of jenny's entire life btw
2. this one is a little interesting because there's their dnd ages and their kinda general ages! thea in the fic is a dwarf, and i put her at about 260-ish, which i think would probably translate to late 50s/early 60s in an all human situation. roslin and lenora are both close enough to human that i think their late twenties/early thirties general ballpark would apply, and marigold, though she's in her late twenties in the fic, is kinda operating from a delayed half elven maturity, so i would place her very decisively at early twenties in an all human situation. evie is early twenties in the fic but i think she'd be like 18-19 (not a very big age gap btwn her and mari; similar levels of maturity). sofie's age is whatever i want it to be lol but always decisively a little kid.
3. sofie i shuffle in and out depending on how i'm feeling about it! she initially started out as marigold's apprentice but the narrative shifted and now she's very decisively marigold's little daughter. she's about 12 but i write her like she's 6 in the fic for Baby Elf Slowly Growing Up reasons, which means i'm still figuring out how old i would want her to be in an all human situation (the consistent through line is that mari is a little too young and flighty to raise a kid without the insane amount of third party support that she's managing, but she and sofie have a really deep connection). i sorta feel like she's a little too small to have a full-fledged character arc, but i definitely think about her as like 1/2 a bakery lady.
4. lion. hm. how much can i say without spoiling things. he grew up in a house with his abusive dad and evie's a lot of the reason he stayed alive through that, possibly. he loves her tremendously and sometimes when you are incredibly traumatized & there's only one person who matters to you, you will do some really, really fucked up things to them out of fear that they will leave.
5. THIS part i can say -- lion and evie are childhood friends! they connected at a time where both of their family situations were. Fraught. and they developed kind of a really intense trauma bond that eventually transitioned into romance. and then things got bad.
6. evie is a cryptid because when you grow up with undiagnosed adhd and your mother is insane you often do not actually learn how to fit in or understand other people.
7. see i actually really don't know how to answer that question because being popular is the antithesis of evie! she is so fundamentally disinterested when it comes to socializing with 80 percent of the general human population. either she loves a person or they don't exist to her. so like Could she be popular? hard to tell. she will literally never try. what matters to her is always gonna be the people in her heart and that's it.
(so much of why she, ahem, socializes with others comes from a place of wanting to reaffirm her connection to her body! it's brutally pragmatic. she talks to people if she needs to and That's It.)
8. oh norie's taste is not nearly that stable. the two Serious Crushes she's had are 1) comphet thing for a serial killer whose face she has literally never seen and 2) literal war criminal who has killed and will kill again. that woman is ONLY interested in women with a kill count and no regrets about it AND future murderous intent, and donovan simply does not meet that criteria even in some hypothetical fem version.
9. man i am sooo not in the headspace of the what you make guys so these answers may be a bit lackluster but i will try my best!
nora, hilariously, adores thea. extremely amused by thea's obvious obsession with her and is very clear about her devotion to her husband + her heterosexuality but thinks thea is SO GREAT and is delighted to meet a mom who has priorities very similar to her own! i think once thea gets her libido under control they're actually really great mom friends :')
donovan adores thea for similar reasons. she's very nora-shaped. actually as i'm typing this in ANY situation where nora was attracted to women or thea to men this could so easily be a "sometimes thea comes around for threesomes" situation but that is just not what's happening here. she's such a good friend though.
stacey is OBSESSED with roslin. they go shopping together and it's the best day of stacey's entire life.
ezra likes marigold a lot and by proxy is also pretty fond of sofie :') he follows mari around very quietly and watches her make things. marigold has never handled people's admiration well at all so she's kind of having a minor panic attack the entire time ESPECIALLY because sofie needs mommy's attention ALL the time or else she'll start causing problems. ezra picks up on this pretty fast and starts paying attention to sofie too. expert problem solver
bella loves evie full stop. same insane adhd girl hat.
art adores sofie and marigold!!! they've all three of them got the same excited effusive chattery sparkle. he and sofie start getting along really really well like i said which again is one of the reasons why bella hates that girl so fucking much.
10. like i said lmao thea is SOOOO into jenny but in a much more superficial way than most situations! really just wants to love her and leave her, which of course appeals to jenny as a concept as well (hooray mutually emotionally uninvolved while still intensely passionate sex EVERYBODY WINS), but jenny is with giles so jenny is like (deep sigh) i guess i can't fuck the hot butch lesbian because i'm in a "serious committed relationship" with my "husband." giles is like why are there quotation marks around both of those things jenny.
jaheira would for fucking sure go for giles. suddenly things are way less fun for thea. giles immediately starts flirting back as retribution for thea trying to steal his wife; jaheira is deliberately putting herself out there for giles in part because a hot younger (by her standards) gentleman with emotional problems does sound like a super fun time for her but ALSO because thea has spent like 30 years not texting her back despite them literally co-parenting children together at this point. Lo And Behold There Are Consequences, Althea!!!! (jenny isn't helping she thinks this is fucking hilarious)
them all hooking up WOULD be on the table if not for the fact that thea is like if rupert gets anywhere near my wife i will break his stupid little face. also i'm like 99 percent sure jaheira and thea haven't hooked up anyway. they're not good at that
11. jaheira's got five kids in canon :') and i actually did write up which bakery lady each kid gets along well with some time ago bc i was thinking about it soooooo
rion (jaheira's oldest, approx. early twenties) adores marigold because they have a mommy issues warriors bond and mari is just the sweetest little sugar cookie. they hang out a lot when they can and cheerfully Don't Talk About It but there's a real Existing Understanding.
jord (jaheira's other oldest, similar age as rion) is actually really tight with norie and i'm certain they get high together on occasion. it's a very quiet and not chatty at all relationship but it really emphasizes norie's softer side. <3
fig and jhessem (jaheira's young daughters, kinda same age as sofie) both are absolutely obsessed with roslin, because roslin is a total girly-girl which appeals to jhessem and roslin gets into a lot of bar fights which appeals to fig. jhessem however has had beef with sofie for a long time (sofie collects child enemies very easily because sofie cannot handle other children as a concept)
tate (jaheira's young son, also sofie's age) is very shy generally speaking. he does best with marigold, because she's warm like roslin but she can actually really do quiet stillness if it's for kids. sofie doesn't have as much of a problem with HIM because he mostly just wants to hang out in the same space as them, and he's not there often anyway.
12. neither elodie nor evie were adopted by thea for uhhhh reasons that are quite complicated but mostly boil down to "marigold was the only kid thea knew about at the time." evie shows up in marigold's life again in their twenties after quite a long time and it's awkward and strange and sad.
13. roslin's status as one of thea's adopted daughters came about in the dnd setting because her family (seven kids!!) wanted to send her to a less crowded place where she could learn a trustworthy trade <3 she writes her parents and siblings very often and she loves them very much! they don't have a strong narrative presence but they're super important to her. i would imagine that in a more modern setting she's staying with thea for similar job-related reasons but she calls her "mommy" because thea's a family friend + she spent a lot of her teen years living w/thea!!
14. ME TOO LOL
15. brie and marigold would kill each other on fucking sight i am 10000 percent certain. extremely unstable and VERY spoiled baby girls who DO NOT play well with others despite appearances. brie tries to start getting along with marigold's sisters and marigold is like im going to use the power of my FUCKING knife to FUCKING KILL YOU. goes downhill from there.
#asks#bakery lady shenanigans#VERY FUN THANK YOU !!!!#marigold baker#evie riverborn#roslin maynard#lenora chou#althea march#thinking about theajaheira n calendiles in the same room is like. jesus christ. bisexuality makes so many things so volatile

Arc of A Scythe analysis, chapter 6-10
—
Chapter 6!
-Ooo! This is the chapter we see the new order scythes!!!
-99.9 percent on-time service…stuff like this makes me wish i was in scythe—
-I find it very funny that the middle seat is just as bad as disease and government, Neal always makes this small funny bits intentionally or not
-GODDARD ID RECOGNIZE THAT ROBE ANYWHERE
-Elegy of scythes <3
-This is fucking terrifying though, imagine you’re finally on your way home, you can’t wait to see your family, they’re all waiting for you, all you want is a nice flight home, and then it’s announced you’re gonna die. Thats fucking scary man
-This scene really shows how fucked up Goddard and is Elegy are, how cruel they can be
-Yes business man, gleaning is necessary, but not in this way, this way is just despicable
-Chomsky is too excited for this PUT THE FLAMETHROWER AWAY SIR
-Oh god Goddard is using the word Alpha, do you think he considers himself an alpha male? I do NOT wanna think about that
-“Yet even in dreams I often find myself gleaning…” god almost all scythes must be so fucking traumatized man-
-Jesus what a good chapter, a great way to start the new part!
—
Chapter 7!!
-Faraday is lowkey a good professor, no wonder you high school au freaks like using him for that /hj
-I for one, CAN imagine Faraday with a mace, he’d look fucking awesome
-Banned weapons are encouraged, that is SCARY!!!
-No wonder a lot of scythes (esp young ones in the new order are bloodthirsty, it’s this cycle of encouragement and being exempt from the rules of society, sure the older scythes preach about gleaning with honor but when you’re young, especially around citra and rowan’s age, you’d be hard-pressed to listen and be much more interested in the bloodsports of Goddard. That’s how he gets you!!!
-Also as someone who has started journaling my scythe journal would be UNREADABLE I have AWFUL handwriting
-Killing 5 people a week, and 260 a year is INSANE!! Again it’s no wonder a lot of scythes are so desensitized to this shit, and even revel in it, you kind of have to, just for your own sanity
-“Good scythes don’t get days off.” *COUGH COUGH* GODDARD *COUGH COUGH*
-“The idea that not all scythes were good was something neither Rowan or Citra had ever considered. It was widely accepted that scythes adhered to the highest moral and ethical standards. Even the ones who sought celebrity were seen to deserve it.” OHH YOU FUCKERS HAVE NO IDEA I LOVE WHEN I HAVE FORESIGHT THE CHARACTERS IN THEIR CURRENT PRESENT TIME DONT!!!!
-“If you do not cry yourself to sleep on a regular basis, you are not compassionate enough to be a scythe.” OUGH THAT LINEEEEE!!!!
-“She doubted rowan cried himself to sleep.” It all happens on the inside, citra!
-“I prefer to see each person I glean as an individual deserving of an end that is unique.” I love how the first book shows how compassionate and truly worthy of the title Scythe Faraday is. It’s that compassionate that makes him stay as one even after the title is gone. Because that’s what he truly is.
-“I find fire a horrific way to glean and would never use it.” ROWAN WOULD DISAGREE OHOHOHOOOOO—
-Its here where I think Rowan gets a lot of his moral code, or at least starts to think about it, to him Faraday is a model scythe, the scythe anyone should strive to be, and when he eventually sees scythes the complete opposite of him, his way of thinking as Scythe Lucifer becomes more clear.
-“I am an accomplice to the world’s oldest crime, and it will only get worse.” AAAA THAT LINE MAN
-“All they do is play games and watch cat holograms.” Oh Neal you really don’t know shit about how people actually use technology—
-I think me and Rowan would have similar handwriting (bad)
-“Rowan found it increasingly hard to parse his feelings about her.” ROWAN FELL FIRST AND HE FELL HARD MAN!!!!!!!!!
-Ben mention :(((((
-This entry of Curie’s journal really fucking hits you man!!! Especially the “I don’t know” at the end like UGH!!!!
-AMAZING CHAPTER AS ALWAYS!!! It’s really laying the groundwork for future character development!
—
Chapter 8!!!
-We get some foreshadowing to Citra’s gleaning method! The theater part if you can recall!
-Also the “No, I lost. Twice.” Is SO funny
-“It was the only time in all my years as a scythe that I had been thanked for what I do.” And you’ll be thanked SO much more soon Faraday!
-Them becoming more violent and thinking about gleaning is SO interesting esp since its so early, just shows how much it can affect you.
-Foreshadowing to where Rowan chooses which Scythe he chooses to glean when he becomes Scythe Lucifer
-GOD you can FEEL his guilt of having to choose between these 4 people!! How horrible and awful he feels to take their lives away as he learns more UGH
-AND he’s thinking about Bias’s unlike SOMEONE *cough cough* SCYTHE GODDARD *cough cough*
-“Does it ever get easier?” Rowan asked. “I certainly hope not,” the scythe said.
-Bradford Ziller is such a shit name lmao
-Rowan not wanting to admit he’s the one who chose him is soooo!!
-“They had bitten her. Good for them.” HAH that’s such a fun line
-Oop! There’s an error on my copy of the book! There’s a quotation mark at the end of “How was any of this fair?” When there shouldn’t be because it’s not dialogue! Interesting right?
-Even if he has a stupid name, you can really feel the terror and panic on Bradford, really good stuff
-The fact he wants to be aware and awake when he dies is sooo interesting man
-Rowan and Citra’s love is continuing to blossom!!
-“I fear for all of us if scythes begin to love what they do.” *STARES AT GODDARD*
-Amazing chapter as always!! Two more to go!!
—
Chapter 9!!
-Esme!! I always remember her being an underutilized character, let’s see if I was right though!
-Idk why but I hate mentions of food, esp greasy foods in books, makes me ick a lot idk I’m weird
-“Well, she could learn self-control tomorrow. Today she wanted pizza.” ICONIC LINE!! Such a mood!
-Luigi mario :)
-Elegy of scythes are back!!!
-Oh Esme there’s gonna be *so* many mass gleanings later on you have NO idea
-VOLTA
-Esme you’re life is gonna be FUCKED GIRL YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!
-A utopia where everything is perfect would be boring, most ppls lives in Scythe are boring, that’s what I think makes Scythe interesting compared to other dystopian books because its a utopia that turns into a dystopian whilst giving ideas of how that utopia itself was already a dystopia even if it wasn’t a tradition one
-Shorter chapter! Still good tho, not as interesting as others however
—
CHAPTER 10!!!!!
-TYGER!!
-Rowan you’re scaring people—
-Rowan’s disobedience is what makes him soooo interesting to me mam!!
-Lmao Rowan is worried about Tyger stealing Citra, already getting jealous!
-Apparently ppl ship Citra and Tyger which…I don’t see??? At all????
-We get some more Citra-Rowan interactions!! Very nice!!! Makes my Citran heart happy <3
-Emo-Nanites <3
-“We are not the same beings we once were. So then, if we are no longer human, what are we?” UGH ANOTHER GOOD LINE!!
-Another short chapter though not as short as the last one! Liked it more than the last though!
—
SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG, but here’s the next 5 chapters, those last two chapters didn’t have much but everything else was great as always!! Next time we’ll be doing chapters 11-15! Hope you’ll join me for it!!!
#the tone speaks#arc of a scythe#rowan damisch#citra terranova#scythe faraday#scythe goddard#tyger salazar#i dont wanna tag everyone else soooooo#long post

Small Michael and Puppet fic I made
There was a sense of uneasiness as Michael drove to Freddy’s for the night. It hadn't even been a week but Michael was already used to the dangers of the place but he knew he had to go there. Especially after what happened last night.
Several hours after his shift Michael still couldn't believe that he was somehow able to get out of the place alive but before he left the building for the day he looked over camera footage only to see the one that was responsible for keeping him alive. It was the oldest robot that Freddy’s had yet it seemed to be the one that had the least amount of problems compared to the other ones.
That robot being The Marionette.
Michael could vivdly remember when he was little, before the amount of death that the chain of restaurants his father had created, the creation of the robot. He would often run into his father's workshop where his father and his partner Henry Emily would be working to see how the process was coming along.
Of course this was back when Michael was amazed by his father which seemed funny thinking about it now but that wasn't the point. No the point being was that the only good robot was one of the first creations this chain had made. It took Henry and his father months to perfect the thing. It was their most complex design compared to something like Fredbear yet it was the one that had managed to stand the test of time.
For twenty years The Marionette in service and it didn't seem like that was going to change.
As Michael was getting closer and closer towards Freddy's he could feel his heart begin to pump faster and faster. He knew that he would be expected to work the night shift but that was okay. He just needed to know what was up with the place and the first thing to solve that mystery was The Marionette.
Michael carried on driving with memories he had of The Marionette carrying on flooding his mind. Most of them involved an old friend. Someone that Michael would have loved to spend the rest of his life with.
That person being Charlotte (or as everyone called her Charlie) Emily. Charlie was Michael's closest friend when he was younger but like everything in his life that happiness of being with Charlie was snatched away from him when he was 12. Thinking about her was always painful. As he would remember the final words he said to her before her life would be cut short.
'Stop thinking about her Michael.' He thought to himself trying his hardest to block out when he found her dead body. 'She's dead and you're with Marla now. So stop thinking about her.'
Thankfully he stopped thinking about his past friend as he arrived at the pizzeria. Stepping out of the car Michael took a deep breath before stepping inside the place. As he opened the entrance door he could hear someone talking.
"Unfortunately I guess we are out of time my dear friend." A masculine voice said. "But I think we would have lots to talk about tomorrow."
Michael heard the man's footsteps get closer and closer only for the man to be revealed.
"Oh Michael it's you." The man said his face beaming with joy.
The man was the manager of the location William Afton or to Michael his father.
"Is that much of a surprise?" Michael replied his tone was bitter contrasting his father's joyful nature.
"I think it is." William answered back. "I didn't think you would be the person who would like to do overtime that's all."
Michael scoffed. "Anyway you can leave now since I'm here."
"I know that." William said. "Anyway I hope you come what you are looking for."
Before Michael could register William's words he had left the building leaving Michael alone.
"Fucking freak." Michael muttered to himself before he went into the main dining room and towards the music box where The Marionette was placed.
Unclipping the locks to the box the robot sprung out as if it was waiting to be freed. Michael couldn't help but chuckle at the robot's movements but that quickly changed. Grabbing a chair Michael sat down and took another deep breath before asking his first question.
"Why did you help me?"
Silence.
"I know you can talk." Michael said. "I heard you talking last night to Freddy hell you talked to me back in the last location so answer my question."
Michael saw a slight reaction from the puppet but it still didn't reply.
"Look I know something is up around here and I'm trying to stop it before this place shuts down for good." Michael continued. "So just please answer my question."
There was another long pause before finally The Marionette spoke up.
"I was programmed to protect." The robotic voice coldly replied. "And I knew that I had to protect you."
Michael felt himself tense up. "You were programmed to protect kids not adults or security guards."
"I was programmed to help you Michael in any cases." The robot replied again. "Something I haven't been able to do in the past."
Questions immediately began flooding Michael’s mind.
"Do you mean the missing children’s incident?" Michael quickly asked.
The Marionette went silent.
"Oh don't go silent now answer me." Michael angrily shouted. "Tell me what you mean by this."
The Marionette looked right into Michael's eyes.
"Everything." It croaked out. "I couldn't stop the bite, I couldn't stop both missing kids, I couldn't protect the night guards, I couldn't even protect your brother."
Michael felt his stomach turn into knots at the mention of his brother.
"Why does that matter?" Michael asked again. "Why do you protect me when all the others try to kill me?"
"The others are like animals." The Marionette said its robotic filter going haywire as it carried on. "But I'm very aware."
"Aware how?"
"You might want to get to the office now." The Marionette said. "The others will be even more angry tonight."
The two sat in a painful awakard silence before Michael sighed and got up from his chair and began walking towards the office. Once he was there Michael couldn't help but allow even more questions flow into his head. Though as he was busy stuck in his own head he didn't pay attention to the lonely weeps coming from The Marionette.

I'm currently participating in a month-long intensive writing workshop from Selah Saterstrom/Four Queens Divination. Which is fantastic, by the way—if she ever offers the Write Now! workshop again, I highly recommend it. The project I'm working on is somewhat autobiographical, and the autobiographical parts all come from approximately spring 2003-spring 2005. It's kinda funny, though, to be writing about a time in my life when I was a self-destructive trainwreck, while I'm here now in a time when I wake up, do school stuff with the kiddos, make myself a small breakfast of yogurt + granola + banana, and then do my stretches, before I sit down to write. (To quote myself: My life is easier now, but it's also less shiny. Or to quote W/IFS: Sometimes I miss those days—that's right, you heard me. Other times I could not give a damn.)
As research for my writing project, I've been rereading journal entries from that time period. Some thoughts/observations I've had while reading through them include:
1 - Wowwwww, none of these pass the Bechdel Test. Haha, I know a personal journal entry can't be measured with the same criteria as a film or whatever, but still. For a couple years there, I was very much "The Ugly One" from Teen Girl Squad. You know:
2 - I was actually surprisingly astute about my issues and patterns, even at the time. Astute enough to know how to stop them? No. But give me a break, I was in my early 20s.
3 - One thing that's the same as it ever was is that I am always lamenting about not writing enough. Like: I need to write more. Or: I've been writing a lot, but not as much as I want to. I think I'm just one of those people who, no matter how much time I spend writing, will always feel like it's not enough.
4 - I was reminded of an incident I'd—well, not forgotten about, but forgotten about an aspect of. So, for a couple months in the summer of 2004 I was traveling/couch-surfing. A., one of my roommates at the apartment I'd been living in prior to that, told me I could keep some of my stuff stored there until I found a solid place to live. When I did, I went back to get my stuff, and she informed me that while I'd been away, she'd had a party, and some of my stuff got stolen. Including my bike, and a bunch of my favorite records. In retrospect, I think she stole them, or gave them away, because she was a mean, fucked-up, vindictive person. And it just seemed really fishy. My stuff was the only stuff that got stolen; none of A.'s stuff got stolen, none of the stuff belonging to the person who'd moved in to take my place got stolen. Plus, it was only my most favorite records, not the ones I felt so-so about, and how would some random thief know what my most favorite records were or have the time to sort through the bin to find them? Anyway. That's not the part I'd forgotten about. What I'd forgotten is that when I got upset about it—and I wasn't even blaming her, I was just fucking upset—she called me something like a 'privileged crybaby' for being upset over 'little things like a bike and a few records.' Reading about that again just made me go: Uhhhh, what??? Like, I feel like getting upset about your bicycle and favorite records getting stolen is a pretty normal response for anyone to have in that situation? Especially when you're broke and can't afford to replace them?
In other, more recent news:
My oldest kiddo got an electronic drum pad for Christmas, but I asked him if I could mess around with it when he's not using it, and he's fine with that. So I'm teaching myself to play drums! That's like the only type of instrument I have no experience playing, so why the fuck not? I'm not good yet, but it's hella fun. And if I get better, and become a real drummer...well, if I'm an O.G. zinester and a drummer, I really will be the (nonbinary) girl Cometbus, haha.
I also found out that my county has launched a big harm reduction campaign re: drugs possibly being laced with fentanyl. They are giving out test strips, and Narcan, as well as doing one-off training courses in how to administer the Narcan. So I've signed up. Just because I don't do those type of drugs anymore doesn't mean I'm never around people who do, and I want to make sure I can help people if necessary. (I'm also really, really proud of my county for doing something like this. Harm reduction for the win.)
And, one last thing: I just discovered yesterday that if you type the word 'emo' on an Apple device, it suggests the black heart emoji. Amazing. 🖤
#rust belt jessie#personal#dear livejournal#on writing#ye olde days#i have a crush on every boy#ARROWED!!!!#currently#drums#i am the girl cometbus#drugs#harm reduction#don't call me emo. it makes me cry.

thinking about aeron and noah moving back to the states and their first years in school after they move
noah is better with speaking english than aeron is, but he's most comfortable reading in russian. he still struggles because he's dyslexic but it's not as noticeable to him until he's being forced to read all his assignments in english.
aeron can read fairly well in either language (they're still pretty young when they move back to the states so they hadn't gotten that far with their reading journey yet.) they have trouble actually speaking english, despite knowing it pretty well, because unlike noah who spoke both frequently when he was younger / before their mom left, aeron straight up only spoke russian. their dad was around them more during the period of time before they moved to russia (their dad wanted to go home since his life was. basically falling apart. he thought his parents would be understanding and supportive and all that but they genuinely were like No You're A Fucking Idiot And Got Yourself Into This Mess. they were more excited to see the babies than they were their son lmao).
and their mom was trying to use it more bc otherwise talking to any of her sons was HARD bc she only? knew a little. like enough to sort of hold a conversation. and her oldest son could mostly switch between either and had an easier time with it? but still sometimes forgot things or got confused with words or forgot he was gonna ask her something and didn't realise that she didn't totally understand him until she looked at him like ?? & noah. wonderful boy that he is. was just like me and sort of knew both, could theoretically use either but kind of used a mishmash of both languages bc he was so little and sometimes he'd only know a word in one language and not the other and he'd get confused when people didn't immediately know what he wanted. (hidden vash lore, i grew up speaking spanish AND english bc of where we lived & ive retained now of it except the tendency to have a hard fucking time speaking english aksgakvs. it's the only language i remember and im so bad at it)
but getting off of that topic a little.
im imagining noah and aeron sitting at the dining room table doing their homework and noah is helping them bc he's their big brother and that's what he does and he should understand it bc he's two grades ahead and he's done the same work as them before. & aeron, who's only in like second grade maybe, will help noah read his homework bc otherwise he gets really frustrated nd doesn't do it or he gets marked down points bc he genuinely couldn't understand it. nd where noah is being kind loud n happy n everything when he's helping aeron, they get as close to him as possible when they're reading his homework n almost whisper the words to him all soft n slow bc they're Small and Nervous All The Time and it's easier to focus on using english when they slow down and think about it.
idk i think it's rlly sweet that they kinda have a role reversal during this time where aeron is able to help noah out more than noah helps them.
theyre also both very! defensive of each other at school bc people are kind of? mean to them at first. for aeron it's other students mostly, for noah it's teachers.
very funny image of a tiny aeron vasilyev ready to throw down with a teacher that's like twice their size bc they saw them being shitty to their big brother. aeron is the #1 noah vasilyev defender fr
noah has to pick them up as best as he can to keep them from fighting aksgskwbn
it'd be so funny to me if that carried on into adulthood lmao
bc aeron is a little feral and ready to GO at any point but they are also light enough for either of their brothers to carry. they're getting scruffed like a little kitten

[raises hand] i would like to know…about the lads…….
okay so like i'm not gonna try and talk about TOO many but there are a small handful that i can talk about cause i’ve introduced them on here already!! uhhh some are. ocs inserted into canon. because i’m silly :3
I GOT A LITTLE CARRIED AWAY ERM.... and also got embarrassed near the end so i tried hurrying up the last section....
Okok so uhmmm there are some of my oldest ocs i’ve had which would be Wren and Una (and also Xavier but i haven’t drawn him yet so erm.) so like. Their whole story is, ahhh difficult for the most part cause it was created 5 years ago and i was god awful at stories and i’m still trying to fix it so in a summary Wren has adoption papers thrown at him for Una at the ripe old age of 17 because he did not feel right seeing the child of the man he was friends with and saw as a father figure get sacrificed (even if it will help the town not go to shit) because he felt like he needed to atleast give back to the man since he passed. But he takes Una and because of the fact that the town could not kill her the town slowly starts decaying which is kinda fucked up honestly if you think about it. And it’s not like the town can pick someone else it’s kinda predetermined every ten years thanks to the horrific beast that has cursed the town it’s a lil silly👍. But because of that they’re kinda constantly being followed because the town people desperately need Una. So it’s kinda like that for about 5-6 years, Wren is now like 22-23 and Unas about 8 cool? Cool. And for Xavier it’s a lil difficult but he kinda helps them out around that time by taking them in cause he was returning back home to visit his mother (who is very much on her death bed at that point) That's like the most i have for their story i don't have an ending but it gets grim kinda and Xavier is the only human out of the trio that's fun he's also like 25. i don't know what Wren is supposed to be he's just blue, and Una is like half human half sheep demon, i’ve tried to make her appearance like a highland sheep but it's not going so well as of right now lol….
Agh and there’s also my minecraft oc. His name is Box because i did nawt want to come up with a name for him so i just call him that cuz my user on minecraft is the same as here lol… but the funny thing is for him with my silliness he’s basically a retired god. And also a deadbeat parent. Both to his bio children and also like his actual creations he made by his own hands. He stopped being a god because he literally got bored and wanted to travel. He is so avoidant with things and only cares about traveling and tea he’s awful and i love him also he’s old. Really old. And also has fox ears and a fox tail. Did i mention he’s old.
There’s also my dnd character!!!! His name is Ilias and i don’t have a basis of actual lore for him but i loveeeee talking about him. He’s a wood elf who is honestly looks like a sick young tree (he’s like 203 cm tall). You know that image of Charlie from Always Sunny. The pepe silvia scene? That’s his personality kinda but in a more academic way. He is not normal about knowledge, but when is a wizard normal about that shit like actually. He manages to somehow not get insta killed despite having 14 AC and 14 hitpoints…for now atleast. Also he can use infestation, and basically mite blasts people which is really funny. He also manages to get sick about things a lot, don’t let him in a cramped vehicle of any sorts.
Okay so now we have ocs that i have tossed into games cause it’s funny. So there are two characters who are actually siblings, fraternal twins actually! Uh their names are Kisho and Kuran and both of them are for two different games (Kisho is meant for o.bey me and Kuran is for t.wst but this is not about the games i’m about to infodump their lore because holy shit did i fuck things up for them) So the funny thing is for them while they’re twins Kuran is the youngest because he was born like a few minutes after midnight L. so both of them are capable of magic erm both parents are witches ( i actually intend to draw them soon!) and also like the healthiest bio parents i have ever created it’s so crazy (they almost blew eachother up multiple times as teens because they wanted to practice together <3) the difference is Kisho is actually better though because he stuck with his studies and Kuran kinda is just a “fuck it we ball” type person for magic. Oh also did i mention how they’re twins and Kuran is just a day younger? Yea well i lied. So they WERE the same age until they were 11. In which then Kisho had got pissed off at Kuran and ran off to go hide from him to calm down and uh. He kinda got sent to the dimension. By all means he was missing for like 3 days but when they found him he had aged by 3 years. Oh and also he experienced The Horrors and is never going to be the same again and now instead of them being siblings who did a lot together and managed to be on the save wavelength they’re now so vastly different because of Kishos experiences and also the fact he is very much no longer in the same state of mind. Anyways Kisho is like 20-21 and is currently working on becoming a historian and philologist whereas Kuran is like 17-18 going into fashion design. They have issues and it’s honestly really bad but one just puts everything in a cupboard and quickly closes the door before everything falls and the other pretends that his issues aren’t there. Also Kisho is transmasc YAYYYYY YAYYYYYYYYYYY. (Also because i’ve made art of them before i’ll give a description cause Kisho has green hair whereas Kuran is blonde :3)
(i started skipping A LOT of major things about this character due to getting embarrassed and scared of talking too much but i’m going to show more in the future)
Uh and last one i can kinda talk about would be Akihisa…. Where to start erm… so he’s my silly little rabbit and i torment him. He has the most issues while also like the least. First off he doesn’t live with his biological parents he was adopted ^-^ so like….. essentially . hmmm. Okay so essentially his father came from outside of Japan when he was a bit younger to pursue filming (which he didn’t stick around in but it’s okay) and he met Akihisas mother who was (and still is) a model. So their relationship did not work out but hey they have a kid now. The kid doesn’t have a mother whose permanently in his life and the father is kinda. Yeag. ANYWAYS so the fun thing is his dad was able to get help from his college friend to look after Akihisa because he had to leave (i’m sorry i’m lazy right now and don’t want to give the actual explanation) and this is when the Komatsu family comes in because they basically adopt him. So this family consists of Mrs Komatsu who is Akihisas fathers friend and she’s an actress who mostly just does smaller roles but anyways there’s also her husband who is a literature professor at a local college and then the siblings are Toshiko (eldest), who works as a model agent, and Ikuya (youngest but now middle child) whose actually in a unit (it’s more so an actual band he’s not a idol but you know what i mean) and is the reason why Akihisa wanted to become an idol in the first place. Also when he first went to yumenosaki for the first like two years he had dyed hair, specifically black hair because he didn’t like standing out from his family. ALSO in !! he’s a graduate just a fair. Information. He also was the leader of his ex-unit and it has the worst fucking name you could have everrrrr named something. It was literally called THE ODYSSEY… and also he was like not prepared to be a leader he let his unitmates walk all over him until the very end when the group split. Also one of the unitmates in that group became the leader of the current unit he’s in and it’s obviously a lot more functional now.
I’m starting to get tired i’ve been writing this document for 3 days and just spent atleast 3-4 hours writing the rest of this. This is like. The bare minimum of a summary for all my ocs and i am so sorry for that…
#box's collection#long post#i'm so sorry for being cringe with my ocs it's so scary sharing the lore for the last three......#i'm also going to add a tag for this so i can also go back to it for oc summaries and stuff#box's silly little circus#<- new tag for actual oc stuff#if i ever rb something and put my oc in the tag the tag will be the one after this#circus member:[oc name]#i'm so sorry for being embarrassing and cringe#i'm going to go to sleep now before i die from fright

Grave 128
⌦ Pairing : enhypenxreader!
⌦ Genre : Horror
⌦ Word count : 2.1 K
⌦ Disclaimer : The idea of this story is from this reel . Credit to the owner . I wrote the story based on my imagination only so stuff might be different from the reel . I don't support any of these behaviours . This is all a work of fiction and my imagination . None of the members have the same personality or resonate the traits mentioned below .
Your mom often told you that your friend group was fucked up and the people there would have somebody killed because of their stupidity , huge ego and bitchy silly pranks they think are funny . Not to mention your friend group was filled with 7 guys and 2 girls , you and your bestfriend . The boys were Heeseung - the oldest , jay - your group's sugar daddy aka bank . Jokes aside he would probably be the only sane one , Jake - soft puppy guy but also the one with the shittiest ideas , Sunghoon - egoistic playboy . People would ask why ware you friends with such a person , the only answer would be because you were all childhood friends and he changed after being bullied . You all did try to stop it as much as you can and now he has changed , not completely offcourse but atleast it's just flirting now . Sunoo - the sassiest sunshine , jungwon - the brain of the group and lastly Niki - the 6ft feet but childish guy . Coming to your bestfriend , her name is Suzy and you brought her into the group . The guys still don't like her that much but it's hidden most of the time . She isn't completely unaware of that situation but she can't do anything , atleast she has you . You both often hangout in evenings and your favourite place would definitely be the convenient store . It has all the things there , the sunset is perfectly visible and it's peaceful .
You were both coming out of the convenient store , it was pretty late and the sky was so pretty that you were spaced out after staring at it for 2 minutes . You got out of your trance when Suzy shook you and told you to listen to the girls who were gossiping about something in a hushed manner . They were passing by and you both pretended to be talking too . “The famous 128 grave is told to be active with her spirit tomorrow because that's when she died , I heard she was a witch , so pathetic” the girl laughed but got a hit from her friend as she realised how loud she was . They were wishpering yet again but this time you couldn't hear them . “Ugh damn them , they left the main part just like that and now I'm curious” Suzy grumbled but you just shrugged . This seemed made up and you had no time to think about some stupid rumours . Yes you've heard them before , the reason behind it being that it was quite famous considering people called it 'the most haunted grave in the town' . Some people said they saw the silhouette of the women and some said they saw it glowing on that particular day but Jesus it was all so unbelieveable . Dragging her back you both bid goodbyes on the connecting road where the path of your houses met . You reached your home humming a song and went to bed after taking a shower , while Suzy just couldn't get the story out of her mind . Her mother never let her hear any rumours since she was small and this one was just so mysterious that she couldn't help herself . She went to bed thinking about talking at this topic tomorrow with her friends . The morning rose and you went to your school , greeting your friends , it was lunch so you and Suzy were walking to your table with your trays . Everyone settled down and jungwon spoke up “whats up Suzy , you look like you wanna say something- since the morning” ahh here comes the observing cat , but to be honest you noticed it too . You thought that it would most probably be because of that rumour she heard last night and you were right “its just that last night when me and Y/n were out we heard some-” “bullshit . It was some weird ass rumours , nothing else” you cut her off . Niki chuckled while sipping his drink “lets us hear it too , I bet it might be something related to the grave” your group laughed “you win the money nishimura , it was infact about that” you spoke . “Why does everyone except me knows about this ? I wanna know too . Tell me something about it” Suzy said and her face twisted into a one with curiosity . “basically the whole town knows it and the story is quite weird and just in bits and pieces” jay said while eating his pizza . “go on , I'm listening” Suzy exclaimed with some excitement of finally knowing something about this matter that was so big that the whole town knew ? Sunoo rolled his eyes at this and started speaking while eating his food in between “its just rumours . Something like the person who died was a witch who used to do black magic and she died while doing some woo-doo shit” “that's it?” asked Suzy “you want it to be more?”aked Jake while raising his eyebrows “no but like- then why is the town so afraid of it ? What's the big deal?” “why don't we see it for ourselves toady?” asked Sunghoon while smiling evilly
“what do you mean ?” you asked sitting a bit up from your seat to show you were serious “i say we go there toady and Suzy can stab a knife at the grave if she thinks it's not a big deal” Sunghoon stated nonchalantly “what the fuck no-” you were cut off by Suzy “will everyone come?” ”yup” said Jake “suzy no-” you were again cut off by her “then let's do it today night , at 10” Suzy said . She was thinking that maybe if she proves them that she isn't a coward and it's all just rumours they can maybe like her more ? She can be someone great at their town ...it was all getting in her head . You were totally against this idea “guys , this isn't funny . We're not doing this” Niki came at your side hugging you “you'll be with me , don't worry nothing will happen . It's all bullshit right ?” “it is but-” “then it's final , I'll come pick everyone in my van” said Sunghoon . When you were going to say something to disagree the bell rang . God clearly has his favourites and you were not one of them . You can only pray it goes alright and Suzy doesn't get in danger , end up cursed or worse dead .
You were the last one to enter the van and you were quite sleepy . You sat beside sunoo and Jake and slept on sunoo's shoulder telling him to wake you up if you reached to which he nodded and hugged you telling you to sleep comfortably . You were close with the guys and all this was quite normal at this point . You reached there and sunoo woke you up . You saw how everyone was sleepy and Heeseung said he'll drive them back since Sunghoon was tired . You saw Suzy leave the van with a knife that you didn't know where she got it from . Safe to say you dozed off on Jake and so did everyone , it wasn't like they were actually here to confirm the rumours . They just wanted to prank Suzy and Heeseung did that . He drove away a little far away . Turning to Suzy , she was just walking towards the grave when she felt something odd . Shrugging it off she just went up and started to find the grave in the cemetery . It wasn't that hard considering how the other graves were kept a few extra inches away from it . She stared at it and raised the knife higher , the place where her body was burried beneath her tombstone . She stabbed the knife in the grass and yelled “take that you old witch” . Now it was getting scary . She was breathing heavily by the fear that was now consuming her and the fact that when she turned around to leave instantly , she was stopped . Something was dragging her back and it could only be the witch . No matter how hard she tried , it was like the grip on her dress was 10 times stronger . She was never this afraid , she screamed for her friends desperately trying to get away . She couldn't see because she closed her eyes tight not wanting to see anything demonic or anything similar to it . Definitely not that witch . Her heart was beating like crazy and it seemed as it was tired by beating so fast and so it gave up . Her body fell limp to the ground with a thud .
You woke up after your nap and when you looked at the time it was 11:45 meaning it was already 1 hour and 30 minutes since Suzy left and she wasn't back . Everyone was sleeping and now you were worried sick . You shouted “guys wake up , it's near 2 hours and Suzy isn't back , come on wake up” you were getting ready to go out when Heeseung suddenly stopped you “hold up” you were so confused but when you saw where he was looking your heart dropped . It was police . On that particular grave . You all got out and you had to kinda run since the van was kept in a hidden place far so that Suzy couldn't find it that easily . Your luck , police didn't find it either . When you reached there your heart shattered . You saw Suzy's body laying there , her face frozen in fear and dried tears that were now covered with dirt . You saw something Suzy didn't when she was screaming . Her dress stuck on the knife pinning it on the ground but there was a drop of blood on her dress . What the actual hell was happening ? “officer what's happening?” asked jay “who are you kids and why are you all here at this late night?” you were going to say that you came here with the dead girl when Heeseung spoke up confusing everyone “uh we are actually looking for a friend , she stopped at a store 2 hours ago and hasn't returned yet so we were looking for her when we saw you here” what ? Looking for her ? What's he saying ? “oh well I think this might be your friend , check it and let me know right now” jungwon stepped up with sad expression “yes sir it indeed is our friend we were looking for” the officer sighed “ I'm sorry to inform you this but she's dead from heavy fear and shock , the doctors already checked her and there was no bruise on the body and no intake of hazardous chemicals , medicines or pills . We've called her parents , they are out of state and will be reaching here soon . We're deeply sorry for your loss . You should all go home” he said while turning to other officers to continue their work . No bruise ? Then where did the blood came from ? Did the police miss it ? You all slowly walked back at the van and you bursted in tears the second you entered . Jay came to comfort you while everyone had a sad expression . Sure they didn't really like her but they didn't wish for her death , atleast not all of them . “shh it's all going to be fine” said jay and you sniffled “i told you all it wasn't a good idea and wait- Heeseung why did you lie to the police out there ?” you asked kinda angry . He rubbed the bridge of his nose while everyone looked at him expecting an answer “i did it so that we can be safe . If we told them the truth they would've thoight it's us , I had no choice” it did made sense but- “lets just - just sleep at my house today and we'll talk tomorrow okay ? It's late and this is all too much to handle” said jay , everyone agreed while they missed someone's eye turning black . When everyone was asleep at jay's house , the person walked up to the balcony smiling madly , while starting at the stars , they muttered “you cannot make fun of my grandmother”

He Makes You Feel Insecure ~ Rogue
A/N: let it be known that I finally managed to update at the deadline I set myself 🥳 I'm so sorry I was gone this past week but college was getting hella busy so I had to focus on that this past week but I'm backkk. Thanks to everyone who stuck around, I missed you all and can't wait to get to the requests ❤️
Genre: angst to fluff
Warnings: swearing, insecurities (he makes you feel too childish)
Other versions:
Gray ~ Laxus ~ Cobra/Erik ~ Bickslow ~ Gajeel ~ Natsu ~ Jellal ~ Freed ~ Sting
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
A loud crash could be heard followed by your and Sting's laughter filling the guild. You quickly fled the scene and hid behind Rogue while stifling your laughter.
You had played the oldest prank in the book on Minerva. A water bucket on a half-open door. You'll never understand how the brilliant mage fell for that one, but she did, resulting in you hiding from her wrath.
"(Y/N)! Sting!" Minerva screeched as the water dripped down her hair.
"We're sorry Minerva-san, we just couldn't pass the opportunity" you apologize on your and Sting's behalf, but it was nowhere near sincere As you both were still doing everything in your power to not burst out in laughter. It wasn't even that funny, but to you and Sting it was hilarious.
"I swear I'm dating a child" the annoyance that was latched on to the words made you immediately stop laughing. Surely he didn't mean for it to come out that harsh, right?
"I'm sorry, what was that" a soft smile still playing on your lips, but that was quickly wiped off when you met his cold gaze.
"I said that you're fucking childish, (Y/N). It was bad enough having Sting act this way, but with you encouraging him and even joining him? I feel like I'm in a fucking daycare. Grow up, will you" Sting laughter also died down as he saw his friend take his frustrations out on you. "Hey, man, that's not cool-"
"No, Sting, it's fine. I- uh- I'll see you all tomorrow" even Minerva shook her head in disappointment as she observed your slumped shoulders as you left the guild. She didn't miss the tears starting to form either.
The rest of the day everyone felt that they were walking on eggshells around Rogue, not daring to get on his bad side. They felt bad for you. Sure you could be a little annoying with all the pranks you pulled, but they all knew it was just good fun. You never meant any harm and just wanted to make the guild feel a little more like home.
That homeyness that you seemed to bring everywhere you went, was gone the next day. Your usual colourful outfits were replaced by dull grey and black clothes. They even were certain that they hadn't seen you crack a smile once that day.
"Hey, (Y/N)! I got this amazing idea for a prank and-" you interrupted Sting before he could elaborate his grand idea "thank you, Sting, but I'll have to decline."
You had never refused a prank before, nor had he ever heard you talk that formal "that's it"
You raised an eyebrow at him as he stormed off to God knows where.
You hated turning him down. After all, you had been itching all day to break this facade, but it was for the best. It'll pay off in the long run you kept telling yourself. After all, you couldn't imagine a world where you'd have to live without Rogue. So if that meant you'd have to change your personality a little bit, you wouldn't even hesitate to make that sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Sting had left to go find Rogue. He knew that his best friend was the only one who could put an end to this "is this what you wanted?"
"I have no clue what you are talking about" Rogue replied as he turned around to meet the fuming blonde.
"You seriously don't see how miserable you made (Y/N)?" He scoffed as Rogue looked around to spot you. It took him some time as he did not expect you to wear something so... Colourless. "You haven't even spoken to her today, have you?"
"I decided that I was way out of line yesterday and that I should give her some time" he explained. Did you really think you needed to change just to please him?
"How kind of you" Rogue was surprised by the sweet words coming out of Sting's mouth, but when he turned back to the said boy he was met by a harsh glare "now go fix it"
"What if I make it worse" the guilty was slowly eating him alive as he dared to steal another glance at you.
"You can't possibly make it worse than it already is" Sting dismissed his insecurities
"Fro thinks so too!" Rogue's head snapped towards the Exceed "Frosch?"
"It's three against one here" Lector also piped up as the three stared at him expectingly.
The raven-haired sighed, knowing he should do something to fix his mistakes, so he took a deep breath, gathered all his courage and headed towards his girlfriend. He never thought he'd feel this scared again to talk to you.
"(Y/N)... Can we talk?" He wanted to sound confident but when you looked at him and not even spared him a small smile, he felt like he wanted to sink back into the shadows.
"Of course, what is it you'd like to talk with me about?" Rogue cringed how smooth your tone was. No unnecessary intonation, no shouting, no expression. Everything was dull and blank.
"Why are you acting like this" your eyes went wide for a second. Were you still not living up to his expectations? Was it too little? Too much? You had no clue.
"I'm afraid I don't understand what you are talking about" you replied swiftly, covering up any traces of emotions you had just shown. "Did you not want me to stop acting like a child?"
"Yes, but-" "and is what I'm doing not exactly that what you asked me to do?" "Yeah... But-" Rogue was getting frustrated, but he knew he had no right to snap at you again.
"Then I don't see the relevance of this conversation. I'll be heading home now. I'll see you tomorrow" with that you placed a kiss on his cheeks and headed back out of the guild.
Rogue's attempts at covering up his frustration were in vain as you could read him like an open book. Afraid to get yelled at again you hastily decided to head back home. Ready to scream or punch something just to get your own frustrations out.
After the failed attempts of him making it up to you, you managed to put up your facade for a week, until one day you just didn't show up. You didn't notify Sting or Rogue in advance, which you normally do, you were just too tired to deal with anyone.
"Has (Y/N) told you she wasn't coming today?" Rogue's anxiety was through the roof. He nearly burned a whole town to the ground when he lost Frosch. Imagine what he'd do if he didn't know where you, his significant other was. "No"
"I'm going to her house" with that Rogue left in an attempt to find you. Luckily for him, you were indeed just at your house.
Your stomach dropped at the sound of someone knocking at your door. You were tired, no, exhausted even. You hated that you had to pretend that you were someone that you're not, but it was all for a good cause you kept telling yourself, and yet you couldn't muster the energy to keep up that facade.
"(Y/N)? Please tell me your home" your heart broke at the sound of his voice. The worry and desperateness were caused because of you. Once again you were not good enough.
You opened the door ever so slightly, just enough, so he could make out that it was in fact you. "Thank God you're here"
"I'm sorry for not giving a heads-up. I promise I'll be back tomorrow" you promised him as you were about to shut the door again, but he stopped you by placing his own hand against the door.
"(Y/N), please, we need to talk" you contemplated for a minute, weighing the pros and the cons "please"
You slowly opened the door further as a signal for him to come in.
The sight in front of him shattered his heart. Your eyes were red and puffy. Your figure was completely slouched and your arms were wrapped around your middle, hugging yourself, in an attempt to shield yourself away from.
"I'm sorry I probably look like a cry baby right now-" he stopped you before you could finish your excuse "hey, no, none of that"
"I want to tell you something and I need you to listen without you interrupting me, okay?" You nodded your head at his request and waited patiently as he continued. "First and foremost I'd like to apologize for my behaviour last week. I shouldn't have worked out my frustration on you and I shouldn't have attacked you like that."
You nodded your head at his apology "second, I want you to know that you should never change your personality. Especially not for me. I love you, (Y/N). And when I say that, I mean every piece of you. Your good and your bad traits. If fell in love with you for who you are, and not the person you've been portraying as the last week."
"Please go back to your old self. I'd rather have a childish person as my girlfriend than a fraud that's clearly exhausted by putting on a facade. I really am sorry for making you feel like you had to change for me" by now you were full-on crying. Maybe it was because of Rogue's kind words, maybe it was because of the exhaustion, maybe a bit of both. All you cared about now was being in his arms and feeling loved.
"It's okay" you whispered as placed your head on his chest as he planted a kiss on your head.
"It really isn't. That's why I'd like to make it up to you" you broke the hug to look up at him as a mischievous glint was sparkling in his eyes "how about we prank Sting?"
"I'd love to, but for now let's just watch a film and cuddle" you smiled at his idea as you had never pranked Sting before since you always prank others together.
"Anything for you, princess" that's how you spend the rest of your evening in each other's arms, with him reassuring you every once in a while that he loves you and that you should never change.

WRONG (3)
mind of mine masterlist
summary: you find yourself at the tattoo parlor more often as of late. also, jungkook hates lemon jelly filled donuts and is easily bribed by mint chocolate and macarons. pairing: “badboy” jk x “shy/reserved” oc warnings: cursing, excessive use of pet names, kinda toxic friendship
Sora’s unbridled passion for why she believes Jungkook is wrong for you has never irritated you as much as it does in this moment. You’ll never understand why she’s so adamant about the topic, when it’s not her decision. When she knows that you’ve been harboring a small crush on the man for years now, and you’re fairly certain he returns your affections.
When the man told you that he had put an orange heart next to your name, you knew it was real.
You don’t understand why Sora is determined to make things so complicated, when they don’t have to be. You don’t believe her claims that he’s a fuckboy, that he treats people like trash. He’s shown you the opposite. He’s so gentle with everyone, not just you. He’s blunt but he has a big heart under all of the leather and layers of black.
If there’s a word to describe him, it’s dreamy.
Which is why you’re so hurt that Sora refuses to give him a chance. After all, if she was your best friend, shouldn’t she offer him a chance for your sake?
It confuses you.
“I’ve heard so many bad things about him,” Sora says knowingly, swirling her glass of wine in her hands. You don’t feel very much like drinking, not when your stomach swirls in unease. Being in her apartment is nothing new, but right now, you’d rather be anywhere else.
“But what things? And from who? Jungkook is such a genuine guy and he hasn’t done anything for people to start rumors about him,” You protest, but your words fall on deaf ears, “And I like him-”
“I mean come on, have you seen him? The man radiates bad vibes. My friends have all said-”
“Bad vibes? You’re dismissing him because of bad vibes when I’m telling you that-”
“I’m your best friend, don’t you think I know these things?” Sora says, heat and arrogance in her voice, “I’m only looking out for you. It’s shitty that you’re dismissing me for a guy-”
“I’m not dismissing you-” But your voice grows smaller and smaller, something that you think Jungkook might be disappointed in you for.
“It sure as hell sounds like you are,” Sora sneers with a cold sort of tilt to her lips, “Listen. I’m just looking out for you, even if you don’t seem to appreciate it. I thought we were best friends. Friends look out for each other, but if you don’t want to listen to me, that’s on you.”
Something dry settles in your throat and something heavy settles in your chest.
“He’s not good news,” Sora continues, as if she can’t see your heart beginning to ache, “I’ll find someone who will treat you much better, don’t worry.” She pats your knee in a way that is supposed to be reassuring but you wince.
You don’t want her favors, but it’s too late for you to protest. Besides if you did, she’d feel awful and you never want to be the cause of her being upset. She’s your best friend after all. And what kind of friend would you be, if you upset her to that degree?
But still... you don’t want anyone else. You want the sensitive man who gets misty-eyed by powerful renditions of Beyonce songs, the man who texts you until you fall asleep, the man who asks you what color to paint his nails when he feels like it.
You kind of want the sensitive man dressed in layers of black.
You let Sora talk your ear off about all of the guys she has in mind for you, but you stop listening. You don’t understand this vendetta she has against Jungkook, the vendetta that she’s always had. But she is correct about one thing- she is your best friend and has your best interests at heart...right?
The four walls of the tattoo parlor that you’ve begun frequenting more and more often begins to feel more and more like a welcome place in recent days. You’ve always been friendly with the guys, especially Yoongi and Hoseok.
Even if Yoongi doesn’t work at the parlor, he’s here frequently enough.
Though Yoongi and Hoseok are some of your oldest friends, you’ve only come to the parlor a handful of times in the past. Once that realization hit you, you’d made it a point to stop by more often.
Why hadn’t you before?
They’re your oldest friends, but these days, you feel closer to Mina and Mei as well. While you do have other girlfriends who you see as often as your collective schedules align, it’s still different.
But still. You don’t know if you’ve ever truly belonged with anyone. You feel as if you’ve been floating through life, with Sora by your side (at least half the time, when she’s not spewing criticism over the man you have feelings for).
Thinking about it gives you a headache and makes you feel nostalgic for something that you never had. But maybe it’s something you can have.
“Hey, you,” Mei calls from reception, where she’s sitting next to Hobi who waves at you, “What brings you here? Finally gonna let me pierce you?”
“I brought donuts,” You shrug, “And I’m not ready for that surgical instrument to touch me, thanks very much.”
“You can stop by without the pretense of bringing sweet treats over,” Hobi says knowingly, “I mean none of us will complain about donuts, but you know that right? You can come by anytime you want.”
“O-okay,” You nod, your throat feeling a little dry.
“Now, come here and let me see what you got. If there’s a lemon jelly filled donut, save that for Jungkook. He hates them.”
“You got plans this evening?” Mei asks, grabbing her bright red purse that’s nearly the size of your head. Her purse matches her bright red nails and for half a second, you’re mesmerized by the glossiness of her nails.
“No, other than getting ready for tomorrow’s day of work-”
“Great! Wanna come with me to the tattoo supply store? I have to pick up more needles, grips and gloves.”
“Sure,” You shrug, a little excited at the prospect of a quick adventure for Mei, “I’ll just say bye to Hobi.”
He’s already watching you with mirth in his eyes, as if he knows what you’re about to say. “Hey, will you tell Jungkook I said hi?” You murmur, feeling your ears burning at his smug grin.
“Sure, I will,” Hobi grins, “I’m sure he feels bad about not being able to say hi to you himself. He’s had a busy day.”
“Understandable,” You nod, “I mean, you guys say he’s the best in the city, right? I’m sure he’s got a waitlist of people who want to be tatted by him.”
“Maybe someday he’ll tattoo you, huh?” He says mischievously to which you roll your eyes and feel your face heat up.
“He would be so lucky,” You scoff, as if the notion of Jungkook tattooing your body doesn’t make something flutter in your belly.
“We have this competition at the parlor where the person who makes the most tips has to buy the supplies on a monthly basis,” Mei says smugly, “Usually, it’s Kook but for the last few months it’s been me.”
That doesn’t surprise you in the least- Hobi has told you that Mei and Mina are both skilled in realistic and watercolor tattoos, as well as piercings. You think if you were ever to receive a tattoo from either Mei or Mina, you would tip them for the mere fact of them being so close in your presence for so long.
They used to intimidate you, when Hobi had first introduced you to them. Mina with her sleek bob haircut, and Mei with her long, glossy waves. Both of them had nose piercings and their ears were dotted in different hoops and rods. You’d only caught a glimpse of their tattoos a handful of times- Mei has a full sleeve on her right arm where Mina’s tattoos seem to be more hidden.
They’re just so cool and funny and smart.
“How did you all get the idea for the tattoo parlor? Like, was it a business decision or were you all friends before?” You ask curiously.
“Well… Jin, Mina and I have been friends since we were kids, our parents are really close. Jin had this dream of opening his own tattoo and piercing parlor for the longest time. Jungkook and Hobi joined a few months after we officially opened. It took a while, but we’re where we are now,” Mei says fondly.
“That’s incredible! You guys started from the ground up,” You say, in awe, “That parlor is your baby.”
“Fuck, yeah it is,” Mei grins, “What about you? What cool tech stuff is going on in that pretty brain of yours?”
“Um…” Your face heats up at the compliment, “I’m currently helping in developing this app for one of our clients, it’s specific for tracking and trending information related to chronic health conditions. It’s still in its infancy, but it’s been fun! And it’s job security, I guess.”
Mei lets out a low whistle, “Wow, you’re doing something like that by yourself?”
“No, I have a pretty great team,” You shrug, “Something like that definitely can’t be done alone.”
Mei hums, “You’re gonna be great, Ms. CEO.”
“Yeah right, I’d never want that burden,” You scoff, “I’m good right where I am.”
With both of your arms full of bags of supplies for the tattoo parlor (and some extras), you both walk out of the shop and towards Mei’s sleek, black car. It’s late, and you don’t really feel much like taking public transportation. But you’re nervous to ask Mei for a ride home for some reason.
“Hey, did you drive to the parlor?” Mei asks.
“N-no, I don’t have a car yet,” You reply, “I only just bought my condo and didn’t want to make another big purchase just yet. I want to start looking though…”
“Oh! I’ll drive you home then,” Mei offers once she starts the engine.
“Are you sure? It’s kind of out of the way from here,” You reply, folding in on yourself a little in the passenger seat.
Mei only waves you off. “Oh, please. What kind of friend would I be if I just left you to get home alone?”
You bite your tongue, as vivid memories of Sora claiming that she didn’t have enough gas in the tank or her asking for gas money for the ten minute drive from her apartment building to your condo flash in your mind.
“Thank you, Mei,” You say gratefully, “Let me know how much to Venmo you, for gas money-”
“Gas money? For a seven minute drive? Is that a joke,” Mei gasps, “What do you take me for?”
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry I asked!”
“Asking me for gas money,” Mei mutters, “You said you want to start looking for a car?”
Her smile twists into something mischievous.
“Yeah, I have no idea where to start though…”
“Ask your boy, Jungkook. Taehyung, Namjoon and Jimin work at a car dealership and they’re his roommates, I’m sure he’d be eager to help you.” Something in her voice is coy but you maintain a neutral face.
“Yeah… maybe I will,” You say thoughtfully, “Hey! He’s not my boy-”
“Alright, alright,” Mei relents gently, “But really, reach out to him. He’ll help you. So that those boys don’t scam you like the sleazy car salesmen that they are.”
When you see Jungkook next at the tattoo parlor which is conveniently on your way home from work (again with a box of pastries), you muster the courage to step into his office to ask him for help.
“Hi,” You say weakly, “Umm… I come bearing gifts. Got some of those mint chocolate brownie bars that you like, and those macarons-”
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to bribe me, baby,” Jungkook says, smirking widely when your lips part in protest.
“If I was trying to bribe you, it wouldn’t be with mint chocolate. Disgusting,” You roll your eyes and squeal out loud when he lunges for you, giving you a teasing but tight back hug.
“Take it back,” Jungkook murmurs lowly in your ear. You hardly hear him, too wrapped up in the warmth of the big black hoodie he’s wearing. The soft, gentle scent of laundry and vanilla floats into your nose when you turn your head to press your cheek against his chest.
His heartbeat is faint against your ear. You wonder if he can hear yours speeding up.
“Mint chocolate sucks. It’s a fact,” You mumble.
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” His voice comes as a low grumble from his chest and you swallow nervously. Before your nerves can get the best of you, he changes the topic. “Mei told me you’re in the market for a new car?”
“I don’t really know where to start, but I’ve already started doing some research,” You reply, pointing to your small backpack. You pull out a binder with meticulously colored tabs labeled in neat print that Jungkook raises an eyebrow at.
“What?”
“You just carry around a binder with your research on car purchases at all times? Is that what you do?”
“I have to be prepared!”
“Sometimes you just need a vibe check-”
“You want me to purchase an entire vehicle worth about a million and one paychecks based on just a vibe check? Is that what you did with your motorcycle?”
“Yeah,” Jungkook gives you a crooked smile, “And a little research. I guess.”
“You guess,” You mutter under your breath.
Jungkook has been more touchy with you once you had given him the go ahead all those weeks ago. He doesn’t show his affections with you unless you’re both alone, and it’s never anything more than hugs and the occasional brush of hands.
He’s melting you from the outside in, and you bask in his radiant heat. The thought of Sora’s approval doesn’t bother you, not when he hugs you like this.
But as always. Her disapproving voice worms its way into your head and you reluctantly peel away from him to sit on the faded burgundy couch with the box of macarons on your lap.
“So,” Jungkook says, immediately feeling the loss of your warmth in his limbs, “How can I help?”

Insatiable ( Jungkook x Oc ) Chapter 8
Pairing : Jeon Jungkook x OC
Rating 18+
Genre : Vampire Au!!!! , DILF! Jungkook ! Bodyguard AU! Babysitter OC! Age difference!!!
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7
Chapter 8
“Heartbreak looks good on you...” My sister commented impishly, watching me slip the teardrop earring into my lobe, the ruby red stone glinting in the dimlight of the bedroom.
It was a couple of weeks since my uncle had come over and today, all the important clan leaders from around the country would be heading over to pay their respects to him. As one of the oldest surviving vampires, he commanded a lot of respect and no one really wanted to be on his bad side.
Which just made me love Jungkook all the more because I couldn’t forget how he’d literally thrown himself in between us that day. I wanted to give him everything in return but apparently, all i was allowed to give him was space.
My father had visited me everyday , giving me a very cryptic, ‘ I’ll make sure the two of you get your happy ending, dearest but you need to trust me and stay away for a while. Just a while. ’.
But it seemed so impossible, so far away and just so unlikely that I was beginning to lose hope.
It didn’t help that I hadn’t actually seen Jungkook in these two weeks . Namjoon took his place and my only connection to him was Joowon , who told me his father was busy ...that he stayed with Hwasa most evenings . I felt jittery and nervous and even more so today because of the lavish party being hosted in the Grand Ball Room, which was easily the biggest room in the entire estate. The last time it had been opened was for my parent’s wedding a whole two centuries ago.
For once I couldn’t hide in the daycare in sweats. My uncle apparently insisted that i be present for the party tonight.
It only made my anxiety skyrocket.
I was a mess when it came to formal parties with century old vampires. I had all the formal training of course, but still the etiquette lessons were long forgotten and lot of those cranky old bats had very archaic ideas about what was allowed and what wasn’t.
I didn’t want some entitled century old vampire pawing at my neck for a drink tonight. I really didn’t.
But i had done my part. Put on a red dress, the backline dipping all the way down to the base of my spine , let one of the make up artists in the clan have a go at my face and even put on blood red lipstick.
I grunted , trying to yank the small lace and leather garter up my thigh. It had a holster for a dagger, the small ornate silver one that all the women in the clan carried. The dagger was crafted with the Hwang crest on its handle and I carefully sheathed it in, patting my thigh to make sure it wouldn’t slip down my limb.
“Don’t make fun of my misery.” I glared at her and she actually laughed.
“Sera, you feel too much too deeply. Jungkook isn’t going anywhere. He’ll come around. “ She said gently.
I shook my head.
“I don’t want to wait though. I... I don’t know why I hate waiting but I do..”
“He looks like a kinky bastard. Tell me, did you guys try anything ...I don’t know..risky?”
Nothing riskier than getting edged in front of a whole hotel full of guests and then getting fucked in the back of a car. Oh, did I tell you he spit in my mouth? And I loved it.
“Not really.” I lied but I could feel my face heating up as I turned around, back to the mirror as i felt my ears burning.
My sister shrieked so loud I jumped, nearly knocking over the bottle of perfume on the dresser.
“Oh my God, Sera, you naughty little bint! Tell me now!!!” She screeched and i flushed.
Like hell i was telling my sister what we had done.
“It’s private!!” I hissed when she tried to yank me and she laughed.
“You’re shy... aww that’s cute. But that’s just because you recently got un-virgined . Bet you can’t wait for him to desecrate your special place again, huh?” She waggled her eyebrows.
“That is the single most disgusting thing you’ve ever said.” I gagged.
She laughed again.
“Relax. He was your first. Happens . But like I said, don’t worry about him being serious about this. I think he is. You guys had sex and dad knows that. And yet somehow he’s still walking around with his had attached to his shoulders. Do you really think father would have let him live if he didn’t have feelings for you?”
I frowned.
“That’s not fair. It was consensual. He didn’t force me into anything or tell me he had feelings ....”
She scoffed at that.
“Please tell me you still don’t think he hasn’t got feelings for you. He went batshit-crazy when you went on that date with Yugyeom. Jimin thought he was having a stroke or something. Dude’s so gone for you it isn’t even funny.”
“ Fat lot of good that does me! ” I snapped. “ If he doesn’t acknowledge those feelings he might as well not have any. And so far he’s made it abundantly clear that he’s not going to act on them. Ever.”
“Because he’s clearly involved in something dangerous.” She said easily, making me blink. “I’m not supposed to be telling you this but I’m kind of sick of you moping around like the world is ending and I’m just going to trust you to be smart about it.”
“What do you mean dangerous?” I whirled around to glare at her, pulse racing.
“I have no clue. Dad and Jungkook are working on something. But they’ve been huddled in the administrative building for three days now and no one has seen them . So i don’t really know what it is they’re planning. But I’ve always wondered if Jungkook was hiding from something. It would explain why he’d work as a bodyguard...with his skills he could be so much more. ”
Frustration bloomed, this time laced with worry. I wanted to know what was going on. God, if i could only see him. A glimpse would be enough. Just to make sure he was okay. Just to hear from him that he was okay. That he was going to be safe.
“Think he’ll be at the party?” I asked softly, feeling a whole lot pathetic at the way my heart lurched hopefully.
My sister gave me a very mischievous smile.
“Maybe . Maybe not. You look ravishing by the way. And everyone out there wants you. Literally. Don’t forget that. Don’t be easy. Make him beg a little. ” She winked.
I frowned.
“He won’t beg. He’ll turn the tables around and make me cry.” I shuddered. . Which really wouldn’t be that hard . I felt like I was always on the verge of tears these days.
The knock on the door made us both look up.
“Who’s escorting you tonight?” My sister asked gently.
I shrugged.
“No one. I’m just gonna walk in there by myself because I hate all of you. ” I grabbed the small bejeweled clutch from the table and hesitated just a second.
God , I had no strength for tonight but there was a possibility that Jungkook could be there tonight. And I wanted to see him, if for no other reason than to kick him in the teeth.
I slipped into the strappy peep toe heels, stumbling a little because i wasn’t used to them.
Swearing at the sharp pain shooting up my heel and shin, I wrenched the door open. Ignoring the simpering man on the other side, i stalked right past him.
It was going to be a long , long night
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ballroom looked ....for lack of a better word : overwhelming.
Whoever was in charge of the decoration had clearly taken the budget, quadrupled it and then pretty much ordered one of everything. I stared at the sheer overdose of satin and gauze and felt myself shuddering.
Red and black was the theme for the night and I half wished I’d chosen to wear something in turquoise blue just to give my eyes some sort of relief. But there was no denying that it looked especially lavish, the huge hall big enough to fit a dozen foot ball fields, the high ceiling that seemed to stretch right up to the heavens and the million candelabras and chandeliers hung all over the place.
The carpeted floors felt soft under my foot and it was still early, only a few pople flitting about while the ushers and helpers rushed about, tweaking deatils, rechecking placement charts, placing refreshments on the table. Small bottles of blood arranged neatly on the table and I rolled my shoulders, eyes darting around to find someone familiar.
Kim Minjae and Kim Mingyu were just entering the hall and I grimaced. God, no. But i watched as they casually posed in front of the blood red backdrop, while cameras flashed and i frowned. Were supernatural tabloids really that starved for material?
“Sera, go on, you need to get your picture taken too!” My aunt materialized out of nowhere , dressed in a puffy red gown with ruffles and I shook my head.
“Later... i need a drink.” I said quickly, escaping her clingy fingers and rushing away .
As the only human in the entire damn place, I would have to walk all the way to the bar on the far corner of the ballroom to beg for a drink.
I was half way there when a commotion at the door made me look up. My father had arrived with him a majority of his counsel and a bunch of other guests as well. I stared, my eyes zeroing in on a very familiar figure , my father’s arm wrapped around his shoulder.
Jeon Jungkook stood right next to my father dressed to the nines and with a dazzling smile in place.
I gawked at him.
Trying to process what it was that I was seeing.
He was smiling. He had the audacity to smile after ignoring me for two whole weeks.
I took a deep breath.
“You better have a pretty darn good explanation for the radio silence you treated me to the past two weeks. “ I intoned dully to myself , trying to ignore the way he looked, completely at ease in the spotlight.
He turned a little to the left and his gaze caught mine. I watched as he smiled and shook hands with the people around him before whispering something to my father.
I dug my heels into the floor, glaring as he extricated himself from the elite crowd and slowly began walking over. God, i wanted to kick him so bad.
He stopped in front of me, looking expectant and my anger merely doubled in intensity.
“Anything you wanna say, Jeon?” I snapped.
“You’re beautiful. Breathtakingly so. Red is your color, angel. I wanna see you in it more often. “ He answered at once.
My mind went distressingly blank for a whole thirty second.
“ Did i fucking offer? ” I demanded , angry. “ I’m not dressing up for you. Ever. You ignored me for two entire weeks Jungkook! i didn’t know where you were...what you were doing...”
“Sera, I’m sor -” He began but I squawked in disbelief, shoving him away hard. He stumbled, more in surprise than from the impact but he looked surprised .
I felt myself shaking in anger. How dare he?
“Oh, no. No. You do not get to waltz back in with a simple sorry.... not after treating me like shit the past two weeks...Absolutely not.” I snarled, shoving him again but this time he didn’t budge. Ugh.
I made to move past him but he grabbed my elbow , yanking me back till I crashed into his chest. It was humiliating , the way my body practically vibrated with pleasure from being near him. His arms around me felt like heaven and I’d spent two whole weeks in purgatory.
“You need to stay with me Ms. Hwang. I’m your bodyguard, remember?” He whispered, lips pressing against my neck, breathing in my scent and I glared at his arms.
“No you’re not. Namjoon is!! Where is he?” I asked angrily , but he pulled me closer, hands resting on the bare skin of my back as he hugged me tight, lips latching onto my neck, breathing deep and my knees buckled. i had missed this. So much and even if this was all i got, I wanted to savor it. Savor it even if I hated him for the way he treated me all the fucking time.
“Missed you.” He whispered, lips wet and wanting , damp on my skin as he pressed kisses along my shoulder. I loved it but I knew he was going to leave me again and that just made me angrier.
“You’re a liar.” I choked out.
“No. I’ve lied about a lot of things but never about how you’ve made me feel, Sera. You set me on fire.”
I choked, anger and affection flooding my senses, confounding me because it was like being caught in an endless game of push and pull.
I trembled, fists punching his shoulder in protest but he didn’t move. I could feel eyes on us and it made me flush. How dare he... How fucking dare he.
“Let go of me! You said you don’t want me so let me go!” I said petulantly and he made a small noise of protest.
“That’s not true angel...you know it’s not. I want you... Want you so damn bad , i ache with it.” He whispered the words into my skin and I bristled.
“Fucking liar, let go of me!” i was going to cry. Actually burst into tears in the middle of the ballroom.
He didn’t let go of me.
Instead his fingers fluttered down my bare back, feather light and maddening , tracing a path down my bare skin and I gripped is jacket at the electric contact.
i trembled, my thighs shaking but I couldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing how much I wanted him. I swallowed, shaking my head.
There was no music and we weren’t even near the dance floor. I couldn’t imagine how we must look to the people around us. But it was hard to think of that when I could feel him all over my body, could feel his heartbeat pulse right against mine and when his arms felt like an anchor , grounding me .
“You think I need you.” My voice shook a little, “ I really fucking don’t Jungkook and I want you to remember that. I don’t need you. I don’t need to touch you . I’m fine with you never touching me ever again. ” I lied, gripping him harder.
My words didn’t match my actions at all and he seemed to realize it, chuckling lightly and letting me press myself closer into his warm, solid body. He kept his arms around me, waist pressed into mine and thighs hard and solid against mine.
“I know that... i need you far more than you need me.” He said sweetly, kissing my brow and stroking my hair. He slipped his fingers into the strands, running the silky length between his fingertips , his voice brimming with fondness . It hurt, the fact that I couldn’t have this all the time.
That somehow I was only offered glimpses of this Jungkook. Little snapshots of a what our life together could be but when I tried to draw closer, he always pulled away.
I glared at him wanting to demand more answers
. And then my eyes fell on the small dagger sheathed into his belt. My sister’s words floated into my mind. Was Jungkook running from something?
“Are you in danger?” I whispered, softly. “ Darling, i need to know if you’re in trouble. I need to know.”
He trembled a little at the endearment.
“Baby, I’m going to be fine. Don’t worry about me alright. It’s important that you stay safe. “
The words brought no comfort of any kind.
I stared at him.
“What is it with the people around me spewing platitudes in my face without telling me what is going on! Do you just not trust me?” I asked desperately, hurt blooming.
Jungkook swallowed.
“i trust you with my entire life Sera. But, I just don’t want you to get hurt.” He said gently.
I rolled my eyes.
“Please....you’re five centuries old , so can you leave the whole cliché knight in shining armor back in the dark ages and just treat me like your equal? I’m not a helpless damsel in distress Jungkook...!!”
He nodded, reaching for me again but I pulled away, wrapping an arm around myself. He hesitated, hands stretched out to touch but hovering a few inches away .
“you’re right. I was out of line. But to be fair your father was very firm that I had to stay away from you...no contact of any kind till tonight. “
“And what’s so special about tonight.?” I asked , upset at how little i knew about what was going on. Jungkook’s gaze softened, and he pressed a palm to my cheek, thumb tracing circles on my jaw, before pressing a gentle kiss to my lips.
“ You’ll see. “ He smiled, “ And as for the rest of it, we’ll talk about this . I promise. We will....tonight after everything ends. I need to go now. Your father’s waiting for me,”
I clung to him, feeling abandoned all over again.
“What are you guys upto?” I grabbed his arm but he gently pulled my fingers away.
“I’ll come find you. “ Was all he said before moving away and I groaned in disbelief.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Uh oh. I can recognize that look. On a scale of one to ten , how much trouble is Jeon Jungkook in?” Namjoon asked gently, watching me glare daggers at the man in question as he hung around near the front of the hall, surrounded by clan leaders.
He was meeting everyone, apparently a social butterfly and i couldn’t fathom it. The last time we’d had a party he’d sneaked off to get laid with Helena.
Speaking of who,
“She’s going to castrate him. I can feel it.” The sultry eyed vampire, sat next to me, her long nails tapping the scarlet drape of the table as she watched me, eyes heavy and hot, gaze trained on my neck.
I’d never felt more like prey.
“ Nice to meet you Helena.” Namjoon said casually taking the seat next to me. Great. I was caught between two vampires that knew exactly how gone I was for Jungkook and exactly how ....not gone he was for me. The night just kept getting better.
“Always a pleasure daddy.” Helena said , eyes dancing with wicked mischief and Namjoon choked on his wine, spewing it all over the table. I stared at the pair in disgust.
“Disgusting.” I snapped. “Look at him. He hasn’t looked at me in an hour. How am i supposed to believe that he wants me so much I set his skin on fire.” I demanded shrilly.
Both of them went quiet. They looked very uncomfortable and i felt myself flush.
I glared at them , self conscious.
“What?! Jungkook said so himself.” I protested.
Both of them began guffawing.
“I’m never letting him live this down.” Namjoon chuckled and I rolled my eyes. I could feel eyes on me, everywhere. Everyone’s gaze flitted to me every few minutes. Some of the younger vampires hovered a discreet distance away but had their gazes trained on me .
Everyone looked at me except Jungkook. There really was no justice in this god forsaken world, was there?
Did he really think I was weak and harmless? I suddenly felt foolish . I wasn’t weak. I wasn’t powerless.
So , so far from it in fact.
I didn’t use my abilities because of how morally ambiguous they were. My father had drilled it into my head, right from childhood, that I couldn’t use my powers without explicit permission from him and I had listened to him.
Had played the role of the harmless human who just happened to have really intoxicating blood inside her veins.
But somehow that had ended up with me being pushed out of the loop with the man I loved. Jungkook thought I was some kind of helpless damsel he needed to keep safe and it just...it irked me.
It was laughable that he thought something could be dangerous to me.
It was laughable because I was easily the most dangerous creature in this entire room.
i pulled my phone out, texting furiously.
I want to see you.
I stared at Jungkook waiting for him to see. He pulled his phone out read the screen and to my utter chagrin he slipped the phone back in without answering.
All right, That’s it.
I stood up slowly, Namjoon stiffening next to me.
“Where are you going? “ He asked warily.
“To mingle.” I said casually. “ you can stay here, daddy. I’ll be fine by myself. “
He spluttered again and Helena laughed lowly.
“I like her. “ Her voice rang out and i smirked, making a beeline to wards the front of the room, where Jungkook stood with a few other vampires around the same age as him. They all straightened at the sight of me, lust evident in their eyes and I saw Jungkook go a little stiff when he noticed I was alone.
“Where’s Namjoon?” He said shortly.
“With Helena.” i said with a shrug.” Evening gentlemen.” I smiled softly, parting my lips lightly, letting my tongue dart out and wet them before leaving them parted, tongue peeking out.
Jungkook pressed in closer, arm darting to wrap around my waist but he seemed to think better of it, pulling away again.
“Sera...” He began warningly but i cut him off. Jungkook didn’t know what he had.
And I was too fucking beautiful to be ignored tonight.
“Isn’t someone starting the music? What a terrible bore this party has been...” I said loudly and the men scrambled closer, almost tripping over each other.
Pathetic really but at least they served their purpose.
“Should we get you another drink, Sera?” One of them said.
“Let me go find that Dj...” The tallest of the lot wandered off.
“You’re right..are you hungry..? Where’s that waiter?” The one right next to me lifted a hand, waving the nearest uniformed helped and I smirked at Jungkook.
“Having fun?” I asked.
“You need to go stay with Namjoon.” He said stiffly.
“where’s the fun in that? “ I hesitated, locking my eyes with him and lightly lifting my heel up to rest on the chair right next to him. The slit in my dress fell open, exposing the entire length of my leg, especially the red lace of my garter.
Jungkook’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the dagger strapped to my thigh, the red and gold stark against the milky white flesh. I rand a forefinger up from my knee to the top of the garter belt, lightly circling the tip over the sharp edge of the dagger.
“Don’t...” He growled. I smirked.
“Don’t what?” I whispered.
“Don’t fucking do it, baby... I’ll be really , really mad if you do. “ He was almost shaking with the effort to not grab me and i could feel it. Feel the urge to put me in my place, simmering beneath his skin but he was helpless.
Any wrong move on me and he would have a dozen daggers in his heart within the next second.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about .” I feigned ignorance, purposefully pressing the thick of my finger into the edge of the dagger, gasping as it broke skin, tearing my flesh and drawing out my blood.
A collective gasp ran through the crowd around us and it was quite the sight, an entire group of century old Vampires going stiff as boards, nostrils flared pupils blown wide open as they all stared at me .
I smiled wide, trying to inject a note of contrition into my voice.
“Oops. That was clumsy of me. .” I giggled, holding my finger up. the blood beaded over and spilled , trickling down my wrist and I locked my gaze with Jungkook’s, bringing my arm up, licking the scarlet fluid up, tracing its path with my tongue all the way to where the dagger had nicked me before sticking the finger into my mouth with a lewd pop.
A vampire, about three feet away from me was breathing heavily , grabbing the chair next to him and sinking into it. His fangs were out and his breathing was erratic. i watched his eyes flash red and I laughed.
“I’m sorry. “ I said sweetly and he gave me a blank smile.
“That’s alright, my lady . “ He was almost choking from the effort to stay composed. Poor thing. I let my gaze flit back to Jungkook who had a terrifyingly blank look on his face.
“You little whore.” Jungkook whispered softly and i lurched.
“Yours . If you want me. But if you don’t...then anyone’s really.” I shrugged unrepentant.
“Really? You think any of the vampires here’s gonna want you after the stunt you just pulled? No one wants a needy little slut.” He said casually but I could see him shaking a little. There was a teeny tiny crack in that cocky attitude and I’d never wanted to stick my fingers in something so bad.
I felt myself grin in anticipation.
“It’s not about what I think, Jungkook. Its about what I know.”
He stared at me.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“You think I’m helpless, Jungkookie.... But the truth is... I can turn every single person here into my own personal marionette if i wanted to. “ I shrugged.
Jungkook’s eyebrows lifted, lips parting in surprise.
“I’m listening.”
I moved to the table in the corner, patting the chair next to me. He took the seat next to me and I smiled.
“Now watch....” I snapped my fingers, signaling the waiter with the glass jar of lemon soda and vodka in his tray.
“Can you let my father know I want to leave the party early with Jungkook here?” I asked gently. The waiter flushed, but nodded and I casually slipped my finger into the lemonade jar, dipping lightly in the fluid.
Jungkook grimaced .
“That’s disgusting.”
I laughed.
“Now let’s see who gets to drink it.” I followed the waiter as he moved around stopping in front of a group of very young vampires, about four or five of them. Two girls and three guys. They all took glasses of vodka from the waiter and i sighed.
“You know what makes my blood so powerful Jungkookie? “ I said softly. “ It’s the fact that it is sentient.”
Jungkook went stock still still next to me, lips parting in shock.
“What?” He croaked.
I nodded.
“My blood is sentient. It can feel and see and control. If my blood mixes with yours, it will dominate your thoughts and feelings. I will literally take over you. But it also needs my instruction. So it’ll put you in a trance..... Leave you feeling boneless and disoriented , easier to manipulate. People think its because it tastes so good and they enjoy the feeling. They don’t know what the fuck they’re opening themselves up to...by letting me inside. “ I wrapped my arms around myself.
“I’m painted as the beautiful, kind and precious human who needs to be protected....only because I am anything but. In this room, Jungkook....I’m probably the one capable of wrecking the most havoc.”
“Sera...”
“Nobody knows except for my father and I because...well... just the scent of it makes people chase me down. Can you imagine what they’d do to me if they knew the true extent of my powers.” I said bitterly. I let my gaze shift back to the kids with the drinks. The drinks that were tainted with my life essence.
I watched them take sips of their drink and felt the mild tingling in the back of my head. Like a gossamer thread forming and wrapping around me and I swallowed. It was easy to ignore and I never had any trouble ignoring it when I let my family feed from me. Because I trusted them.
But these kids though. My body thrummed, focusing on one person.
The girl in the red halter top.
“See the girl with the red top and black skirt....” I swallowed. “ She slit the throat of an old woman on her way here.”
Jungkook swore next to me.
“I can see the woman... she’s on her knees , begging for her life. She’s really old.”
That wasn’t all. i could feel the grip of the dagger, the push of the blade against skin, the pull as the flesh gave in, the blood spurting out onto my fingers the scent of death as she bled out.
I felt nausea bubble and I severed the connection forcibly. The girl’s pretty face didn’t match her filthy insides. i couldn’t stay in her head. The tendrils began wrapping around my head as the four of them took more sips.
“When I want... i can influence their thoughts. It takes more effort but it’s possible. it’s why my father wanted to make sure you actually wanted to be with me. He thought I’d coerced you . which I can . if I want. But I didn’t. I don’t do that ever. ” I shook my head.
Jungkook’s brows raised.
“By coerce you mean....”
“It can be as simple as influence your decision... but if I really put in the effort, i can make people physically do what I wanted. “
“Physically?”
I smiled.
“Remember the boys from my college ? the ones who nearly drained me out?”
He nodded.
“My father didn’t have them defanged. They did it to themselves. Literally stuck their own hand into their mouth and ripped their fangs out . Because I wanted them too.”
Jungkook looked like he’d stopped breathing.
I swallowed.
“You don’t have to say anything. I just wanted to tell you that if you’re trying to protect me by withholding information, its kind of unnecessary. I can take care of myself.”
“Alright. What do you want to know?”
“Just tell me what’s going on “ I sighed. Jungkook gave me a piercing look.
“Remember Joo Won’s mother?”
“The witch you killed?”
“Her father’s out for my blood. He doesn’t know where I am as of now. Your father thinks one of his lackeys must be in attendance today so he’ll know where I am.... and he’ll come for me. And when he does... I’m going to end it .”
I stared at him.
“ Okay. “ I swallowed. “ How dangerous is he?”
Jungkook laughed without mirth.
“I’m not sure if I’m coming out of this alive.”
Blood rushed to my ears, so fast I felt momentarily lightheaded. My entire body rejected the mere idea of Jungkook getting hurt. And to hear him talk of it so lightly, it messed me up badly. The fragile hold I had on my mind snapped.
“No.” I said angrily.
Across the room, the girl in the red halter stumbled, clutching her head .
Anger and the urge to hurt clawed up inside me and I tried to get it under control.
Fuck, I had to sever the connection fully before i did something terrible to her..
But it wasn’t happening,
In fact the more i tried to get away the more her conscience seemed to be wrapping around mine.,
Distance. I had to put distance between us.
I need to leave now, I pushed the thought in through the connection and i watched her as she stumbled away from her friends, hands buried in her hair.
“Sera what the fuck... “ Jungkook grabbed my arm, eyes wide and panicked and I trembled.
I felt guilty and scared because there was a reason i didn’t do this and the reason was quite simple. This power...or whatever you wanted to call it, It was bigger than me. I couldn’t control it .
My blood was sentient and sometimes it could control me , just as easily as it controlled others.
“She’s just leaving... I just made her leave because I’m not .. I can’t. ...fuck...” My head swam as I tried to get my bearings.
“ okay that’s it...we’re getting out of here.... ” Jungkook stood up, reaching for me and I blinked, disoriented and dizzy. “Come here, baby I got you...”
I let him wrap his hand around my waist, half lifting , half dragging me out of the ballroom and into the hallway. I gripped his chest, stumbling. I wasn’t tired, just struggling to get my head on straight .
But the scent of him calmed me.
“I need you.” I whispered. “ I need you to be safe Jungkook. I’ve spent too long pretending to be something I’m not but with you... I’m.. You... You make me feel human. Truly human. “
“Fuck... hang on. I’m gonna take you to my cottage.”
I blinked
“your what?”
“My cottage. Hang on...”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time Jungkook opened the door to the cottage, I felt a little like myself again. But my body thrummed , my skin on fire, my fingers trembling with adrenaline.
“you look like you need to lie down.” He said gently.
I glared at him.
“The last thing I need is to lie down.” I snapped.
He held his hands up.
“Alright. Calm down, baby..... Why are you so upset?” He asked soothingly and I scoffed.
“ You fucked me in public and the next day you looked like you’d been handed a death sentence, when my father suggested that you court me and then... you disappeared for two whole weeks....and now you turn up and tell me that your life is in danger. You do all this shit and I’m not allowed to be upset? ” I said angrily.
He hesitated.
“I merely meant it would be dangerous. I am not actively trying to die.” He said softly.
“As for the rest of it.... I’m not the same person I was a month ago Sera.... You.. You’ve managed to claw you way into my heart and the only reason I didn’t want to court you was because of what I was involved in. I told you that...the baggage I’m carrying is too much for me to even think about being with you.... That’s the only reason. “
I stared at him.
“Are you telling me you fell for me too?”
Jungkook smirked a little.
“You were fucking me all the time without touching me. How could I not fall for that utterly shameless gaze of yours. You were your heart on your sleeve and your heart is always filled with filthy thoughts about me Sera. You make it way too obvious. “ He said teasingly.
“I don’t want you to die.” I said petulantly.
“That makes two of us. “ He smiled. “ What do you want, Sera?”
“Want you.” I said automatically, too raw and upset to think too much about it.
“You have me.” He stepped closer, hands resting on my shoulder, eyes earnest and i hated how much I wanted to believe him . But heartbreak after heartbreak after heartbreak had taught me that it was all a lie. I didn’t have him and now ....there was a possibility I could never have him.
“No, I don’t.” I shook my head, angry. “ Don’t lie to me. I don’t have you.”
Jungkook made to touch me again but I shoved him away, hard.
“you’re angry. “ He said thoughtfully. “ I understand that. You have every right to be angry. And I’m sorry I can’t tell you what you want to hear right now...Not until this whole debacle ends. But Sera...look at me...”
I bit my lips staring at him.
“I’m here. Now. I’m not going anywhere. It’s just us. You and I. Don’t worry about what happens next. Don’t. Let’s not worry about any of that. I’m here and I’m telling you I’m yours. You have me now.”
I stared at him, tilting my head as I took him in.
He didn’t move , merely staring at me evenly.
“You know.... you aren’t the only one who hates being ignored.” I said softly.
I felt weird.
Different.
None of the usual nervousness or anticipation but instead a sort of burning need to take. To reach out and pin him down , force him to follow through on his promise that I had him.
“ I’ve been giving too much of myself to you, Jungkook ...for way too long. I think it’s time I get something back.” I whispered.
His lips curled in a small, impish smile and he looked a decade younger. His eyes flashed with mischief and anticipation. He looked eager....desperate even and I wondered if this is what I looked like all the time with him.
“And what would that be...my queen?” he whispered meekly.
“You. “ I said simply. “ All of you. Your words... your pain...your pleasure... your moans and your very breath. I want to take all of it.”
I could see his pupils dilating even from the distance between us.
“Its yours, sweetheart” Jungkook bowed his head gently, holding his arms out. “Tell me where you want me...how you want me...”
I glanced around the room. Not the bed. Not yet.
There was a very sturdy looking chair in front of the small table in the corner.
“Put that in the middle of the room and sit down.” I pointed at the chair.
He smiled.
“You want me to stay dressed?” He asked carefully and I nodded.
“Very well.” He moved to get the chair, placing it in front of the bed. He sat down carefully.
“Anything else?” He asked gently.
I narrowed my eyes at him
“Yes. Keep your mouth shut unless I ask you something.” I said with a smile. His eyes widened in surprise. But he didn’t protest.
I took in the sight of him on the chair, dressed in his perfectly fitted tux , legs spread and hands on his knees, eyes wide and alert as he stared at me. Pretty red mouth shut obediently.
I moved closer till I was standing right between his thighs. His hands came up to grip my waists instinctively and I glared.
“Hands’ to yourself Jungkook. You don’t just get to treat me as you fucking like and then touch me without my permission.” I snapped.
He lowered his hands , letting them rest on his knees again.
“Do you want to touch me , baby?” I whispered pressed my palm to his face before letting my fingers trail up to his hair. it was soft and silky to the touch, the strands like fine silk.
“Yes.” He answered simply.
“Then you need to earn it.” I threaded my fingers' into his raven locks, gripping hard and yanking his head back . i stared, fascinated by the ivory length of his neck, the little mole there and i pressed a kiss to his skin. I let my teeth sink in , just a little and then a little bit more. When he shifted, I pulled back, licking the skin to soothe the sting. His breath caught and he gasped, eyes widening a bit and a small, ‘ fuck’ leaving his lips.
I pulled back , keeping my fingers in his hair , gripping lightly, before reaching down with my free hand.
“You have such a pretty neck and it make me wonder what it feels for your kind...sinking your teeth into people and feeding from them. Too bad I don’t have fangs. But you know what I do have?” I winked .
I brought my leg up, the front end of my shoe resting on the small empty space on the chair , right in the V if his legs. If he moved even a little, my toes would brush the straining length of his cock visible even through the black of his slacks. He was so hard I knew it must’ve hurt.
I gripped his hair harder and tilted his head down to he could stare at my thighs, specifically the dagger in my garter.
“I want a taste . Of you. Can I?” I asked gently staring at him, fingers fiddling with the dagger and unsheathing it.
He nodded.
“Words. Please.” I smiled.
“Yes...fuck yes.....please...Sera...”
“Good boy.” I winked, bringing the dagger up to his neck. It was really sharp and I used the tip to lightly draw a small dash, an inch below his ear. I watched the blade tear through the flesh, light and delicate, the skin cleaving and scarlet liquid bubbling up. I chased the flow with my tongue, licking it into my mouth and Jungkook trembled in the chair, jerking forward.
The movement jolted my foot onto his crotch and he grunted, grabbing my ankle when I made to move it away, keeping my heeled foot on his clothed cock. I swallowed, little out of my league but i stared at him, at the sheer intensity of the desperation in his eyes and I inhaled ....before gently bringing my toes down to press into his cock.
He moaned, thighs trembling and I dropped the dagger to the floor.
I slipped both my hands into his hair, holding his head in place as i bent low to capture his lips with mine, sticking my tongue inside his mouth while grinding my foot down into his cock. I licked into his mouth, chasing the warm heady taste of him, my fingers tightening in his hair for leverage and I wondered if he was wet.... If his cock was weeping precum, dribbling into his slacks .
I pulled back to stare into his eyes but he had them shut.
“Look at me.!” i demanded,” wanna see you...”
His eyes fluttered open, doe- like and warm and swimming with pleasure and I’d never felt more powerful in my life. I moved my foot slowly, in small controlled circles for a few seconds.
“You wanna cum in your pants like this? Rutting on my foot like a little mutt? Or do you want to get on the bed and touch me like you wanted to...?” I whispered softly.
Jungkook swallowed and his fingers tightened on my ankle. .
“Wanna cum like this.” He said taking me by surprise. I raised an eyebrow.
“Really... then what about me...? I want to get fucked too Jungkook ..? How’re you gonna do that if you cum so fast.....” I snapped, gripping his hair harder and he groaned.
“I... I’ll fuck you again... i promise.. I’ll fuck you hard and make you feel good... just..let me cum...please.. It fucking hurts...” The way his voice cracked a bit on the last few words made my heart jerk inside my ribs. I found myself fighting the urge to give him everything.
I smiled instead, kissing his lips again.
“Thank God for fast refractory periods huh, my big bad vampire?” I bit his lips, tugging it between my teeth , before reaching between us and slipping the shoe off my foot. Jungkook trembled, gripping me for support when I pulled my foot away and I let him cling to me for a second, before dropping the shoe down and pressing my bare foot on his erection. I spread my toes over the head, pressing down just a little and he inhaled sharply when i circled my toe on the wet patch .
“Go on them. Make yourself cum.” I whispered, leaning down and kissing him again. He grabbed my ankle with both hands, rutting up into the balls of my feet, hips thrusting up and I let him lick into my mouth, messy and wet as he chased his pleasure.
I felt him stiffen underneath me, followed by a wash of dampness under my sole and I wrapped my arms around him, holding him close and letting him bury his face into my neck as he trembled through the aftershocks. He gripped my waist, hands shaking as he held me and i waited, worried if I should take my foot off or not. I could feel my legs beginning to cramp and I swallowed.
“You okay?” i whispered.
“Yeah.” He grunted. “ Fuck..that was...” he laughed a little.
“We’re not done.” I said pressing a kiss to his cheeks and stroking his hair back gently.
He hummed, gently gripping my ankle and lifting my foot off his crotch. I brought my leg down, wincing a bit.
“Should we get on the bed?” He whispered.
I nodded, yelping when he stood up with me still in his arms, he carried me over to the bed, dropping me lightly.
“Strip.” I said quickly. “ All of it. Want you naked and stretched out on this bed for me.”
He moved quickly, stepping out of his clothes with ease and I sat on the edge of the bed, grabbing the black tie he discarded. I took off my panties, leaving my dress and the garter belt on.
Jungkook naked was a sight i could never tire off and I watched as he climbed into the bed, lying down in the center, legs splayed slightly and hands by his side.
“Bring your wrists together up over your head” I said quickly and he moved his wrists up , letting me tie them to the head board with his tie as i sat straddled on his chest. I was wet, sopping wet and I felt the trail of dampness I left on his rock hard abs.
“I’m gonna sit on your face and you’re gonna make me cum. And then , I’m gonna ride you .” I whispered.
“Fuck.”
“That’s the plan.”
I scooted forward, resting one knee close to either shoulder before gripping the head board with one hand and the hair on top of his head with the other. Tugging him closer, I lowered my pussy onto his mouth, groaning when i felt soft pressure of his tongue against my center, licking tentatively.
Jungkook knew what he was doing, and he licked into me with practiced ease tongue slipping into my slit, curling against the walls, before tracing circles around my clit. He used his lips to suckled on the hardened nub , following it up with quick little licks and i slipped a hand between my legs, stuffing three fingers into my cunt to get myself off faster.
“Oh...fuck... I want... “ I could feel myself shaking and he sped up his movement, licking my lit in quick little strokes and my orgasm hit me like a wave, drowning me in pleasure. I scooted down before losing my strength, collapsing on top of him. The orgasm having knocked me right out of my headspace. I was trembling and shaking, lethargic and completely out of it.
”Baby...you okay?” Jungkook’s concerned voice came from above and I whimpered.
“I’m... I’m sorry.... I’m so tired... I...”
“Don’t worry baby .. i got you. “
I heard the sound of wood splintering and blinked, glancing up. Jungkook had tugged his hands free from the restraint, breaking the headboard in the process.
I gawked at the scene in disbelief.
“Did you just....?”
He grabbed the hem of my dress, ripping it up and off me quickly.
“Fuck..... want to pound you into the fucking mattress my little princess... Such a little tiger aren’t you kitten... so fierce and hot... i loved it baby...you were so good to me ...made me feel so fucking good...” He maneuvered me onto my back and i felt myself blushing at the praise, face heating up as i gripped his shoulders.
He grabbed the back of my thigh, spreading my legs before lining himself up against my pussy.
“Fuck...” He slid right in , knocking the breath out of me and i clung to him, whimpering as he pounded into me, hips working so fact I was sure I was going to have trouble walking for a week after this.
I could feel my orgasm build from the sheer intensity of the thrusts, the hard thick length of his cock pounding into my cunt till i felt swollen and bruised and tender and when it finally tore through me , i was drooling a little, eyes damp with tears and fingers numb from gripping him too hard.
Jungkook fucked me through the orgasm and chased his own each push of his hips leaving me battered and I bit my lips to stay conscious . When he finally stilled, his cock throbbing as he came for the second time, filling my insides with the wet warmth of his cum, I felt myself shake like a leaf caught in a storm, my entire body ice cold and trembling. A thin layer of sweat coated my body and I was pretty sure I wouldn’t recover from this for a really long time
“My pretty pretty queen....” He whispered , pressing kisses all over my face as he hugged me closer and I mewled at the warmth of him.
“Don’t leave me .” i whispered, unable to fight the tug of sleep and exhaustion.
“I’m right here, baby.” His voice was soothing against my ear as he held me closer.
Maybe I could have him after all.
OC ASKS ATTACK!!
1.- Imagine all of our ocs had to fight eachother. Who'd win and why?
2.- Favourite and least-favourite oc? Why?
3.- Oldest oc? Newest oc? Could you explain a bit of their story?
Yo nice attack bro
1. (I assume you meant to type "Your" and not "our" bc unfortunately I don't know your ocs sorrey) Ooojjj my god. Disastrous multiverse crossover. Even imagining all the characters of one story in a big tournament would be.. Well badass tbh but messy lol. For me personally it'd be a whole entire discussion in itself to just list who would win in a fight against who (new ask game anyone?)
If I had to list like the one character I know would survive everything, regardless of if they technically "lose" or "win" any battle, I'd probably say that's Della/Dave the Illusionist. Bc she's a resilient little fuck who won't die despite everything (being a paradox does that to you)
2. GOSH I'm bad at picking just one of anything but that's a juicy question. I do have some favorites I'd say but who I'm most interested in at any time fluctuates. I like to keep it fresh. I'd call my least favorites those who I have very little interest in 😅 but it's not always even that personal. I think I automatically have some fondness for older characters who've stuck around through the years. Will expand on this under a read more bc it'll be rambly
3. I've answered this oldest question before a few ways. Newest tho? Uhhhhh. Torpor? I whipped her up on a whim some few nights ago. Concept and design at once, although the design is still pretty wip. I do also have the case of having 'new' ocs but they've been in progress (like having a design but lacking everything else or stuff like that) for some time, so I have yet to really introduce them
Here's a peek of Torpor for you btw. She's one of Unjust's family along with Hysteria. I'm working on an introductory post for her so I won't get into it in detail rn, but basically big living meat cocoon and embodiment of how executive dysfunction feels
Expansion on Q#2 below
Out of all my antagonists so far Ngah has to be among my favorites tbh. She stems from my own experiences and getting to grapple with her kinda helps formulate some things. Also I'm just glad to have a lady villain who isn't motivated by love or romance. Familial love maybe, but you get my point. She isn't oppressive and small-minded bc of her love for her children (although that affects her motivations), but bc she has oppressive and small-minded views on the world. Also, I like that she's arrogant and a fucking powerhouse. She deserves to get nerfed though lol. I'm also fond of Lamera and the relationship between him and his mother.
Grandefel has always been a fave. I haven't given her enough spotlight admittedly but I just like her alot regardless.
Unfortunately I'd have to put ZZZ in my least favorites, which is concerning bc I should give them more development and appreciation in the story. Unfortunately I can't make myself extremely invested in their story and character. It just doesn't hit me all that much, but I wish it did. ZZZ deserves so much better
Outside of lack of interest I'm not sure if I'm entirely comfortable discussing my least favorites bc I'd say those are related to actual irl bad memories and I don't wanna get into that w my current mental health.
Outside of the damn angels tho:
Ebony! I'm a big fan of hers! I love!!! Ebony!!!
Jetter/Peaches gets an honourable mention, she's still with me after all these years and has shared pain with me. And grown and developed into something better on top of it. Diane also gets an honourable mention, props to her for being the only reasonable and tolerable person in her family lmao
Kern. I like her. I just like her and think about her and Hael fairly frequently. Nothing too special I just like
Unjust funny and awful :)
Syöjätär. Nobody knows this one and I won't elaborate
Alby will always be so fun to draw but I'm not sentimental over him. Call him a mascot maybe.
Twig, I think they should get to beat people up <3 although I'm a little halfway on Twig, on one hand meh but on the other hand, such a compelling character. It's complicated
Theo, who's a pretty miserable wet rag guy but I grapple with my compulsions through him. He has those too, although they're different it's still at the core of the issue
Dave/Della the Illusionist probably, I can't get anywhere w/o mentioning er
#Ask#My ocs#Theo#Twig#Torpor#Ebony#Alby#Jetter#Eh I can't tag all of them#Thanks for the ask!! Genuinely
Cult Girl: Doctorate (Hannibal x Female!Reader) pt. 8
Cult girl and Hannibal go through an exhaustive list of potential adoptive couples.
@wisesandwichshark
Trigger warning: sexual harassment, christianity, discussion of pregnancy and family planning, adoption, murder and cannibalism
Step two: find an adoptive family.
Some would say your list of expectations for potential adoptive parents was too extensive. Impossible for any human to reach. But it was really just the bare minimum.
Regardless of if they were two men, two women, one of each, or a few people, the parents had to be trustworthy. It wasn't easy to earn Hannibal's trust, but he could recognize those who had the capacity to right away. It was a little instinct you had dubbed 'friend or food'.
On paper, the apostolic pastor and his wife of 19 years seemed like the perfect candidates. The adoption agency tried to push them on you, as they had a great track record with adopting from them prior. Three boys, all of which were honors students.
Hannibal insisted on a formal introduction, during which you could conduct a proper, though surreptitious, interview. It was an invitation to dinner.
He invited the couple into his office, where a pot of tea and an interrogation was waiting for them. Then there was you. Barely-pregnant little [F/N], feeling entirely safe so long as your fiancé was beside you.
"You're doing the right thing, y'know." The woman, who introduced herself as Mrs. Landon, said upon meeting you.
"How do you mean?" You asked, already knowing the answer.
"All god's life is precious." She said, placing a hand on your not-even-remotely-showing-yet stomach. "You're walking in obedience to the lord by giving this child a shot at life."
Strike one: bringing up religion unprompted. Strike two: touching me without asking first.
You wanted to swat her hand away, but remembered that patience was a virtue. She and her husband took a seat across from you.
"Y'know," The man began, his mannerisms eerily similar to those of his wife. "I don't usually begin with the god talk, but I think a higher power had to have been involved in the conception of this- well, our child. I'd like to think the good lord brought us together today."
Strike three: already believes he is entitled to my child. You're outta here.
"Don't flatter the adoption agency like that, Jacob." Hannibal chuckled, placing his teacup on the side table.
"I'm serious, Dr. Lecter." Jacob interjected. "Faith and I really do believe that god put us on this earth to prepare his smallest soldiers for the spiritual war."
You shot Hannibal a side glance that said 'can we please just eat them now?'.
The answer was no. Hannibal liked to play with his food.
"And your adult children have all moved out?" He asked.
"That's right." Jacob nodded. "We have plenty of room in our five-bedroom house for the new little slugger to run around in."
"And if it's a girl!" The wife interrupted. "We have enough closet space for all the denim maxi-skirts money could buy."
Strike four: arbitrarily genders the behavior of a nine-week-old embryo.
The man then returned the teacup to the table, not bothering to use the saucer and instead leaving a nasty ring of condensation on the polished mahogany.
"Okay." Hannibal huffed, resignedly rising from his seat. He pulled two hypodermic needles from his back pocket and carefully, subtly stuck them onto the couples' necks. They couldn't even scream.
The tacos al pastor that followed (after a few days of marinating, of course) were exquisite.
The next week brought a new couple to your doorstep. Frank and Angela, they were named. Their claim to fame was that their oldest son played football for one of those big southern party schools. Either Auburn or Alabama. There was hardly a difference.
You sat for what felt like hours listening to the man speak in unintelligible football babble, waiting for him to take a breath. Surprisingly, it was the mom who got him to finally shut up.
"Frank, please." She said with more frustration than this one situation even remotely warranted. Either she had enough intuition to know she was being tested, or she’d spent the last decade putting up with this. Possibly both. "You're boring our hosts to death."
"What? No way! She loves it!" Frank replied, then turned to you. Not to Hannibal, just you. “Aren’t you having a great time, sweetheart?”
Strike one: takes advantage of the female socialization to be passive and polite, allowing himself to take up the most space.
You shook your head. “I hate football.”
His wife looked quite pleased with herself.
“Angie, I just wanted her to know what good breeding her son is going to have.” He said, without a lick of irony or self-awareness. He eyed you up and down and licked his lips. “And it is mutual, I see.”
The room went quiet as everyone tried to determine whether he was serious or if it was just a fucked-up joke. The longer the silence lingered, the more you realized he wasn’t kidding. Angela looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
“I don’t know what the agency told you, Mr. Wyatt,” Hannibal said, trying not to grit his teeth. “She isn’t a surrogate. She’s already pregnant.”
Frank’s jaw hung dumbly open. “I thought you were looking for a sperm donor? I just-”
“No.” You cut him off, raising your hand and covering your face. “I don’t want to know what you thought.”
“Well, I would!” Angela interjected, righteous fury eclipsing what should have been crippling embarrassment. “What exactly did you think this was, Francis?”
“The file said that he was over fifty, so I just assumed--” Frank rationalized, his voice far too loud for the room. “Y’know? That she wanted a baby that wouldn’t come out all funny-looking?”
“You’re disgusting.” You blurted out.
“Francis Howard Wyatt,” Angela scolded as if she were talking to her son. “You are forty-eight and the only increasing part of your body is your blood pressure. Why on Earth would any woman choose you over her smart, handsome doctor fiancé?”
This made Hannibal sit up a little straighter. He wanted Francis on the butcher’s block yesterday, but he momentarily considered letting Angela live.
“They’re not married?” Frank whispered, or whatever the loud-aggressive-toxic-masculinity version of whispering was. He paused, as the dead hamster on the wheel powering his brain crept back to life. “That actually makes sense.”
Angela loudly smacked her hand against her face. “Dr. Lecter, Ms. [L/N], I am so sorry.”
“It’s quite alright, Mrs. Wyatt.” Hannibal stood up, readying the next batch of needles. “It just makes what I’m about to do easier.”
It took quite a bit of restraint to not make their deaths hurt, but he made up for it when it came time to carve. He had fun running his fittingly small penis through a meat grinder. Not with any intent to cook it, though. Just because.
Hannibal wanted to make Francis Wyatt into the least dignified meal imaginable. You quickly recalled going to a friend’s barbeque in Georgia and encountering a horrendously Southern delicacy known as Frito Pie. You proposed the idea to Hannibal, who, after reviling in abject horror at the notion of eating something out of a bag, agreed that it was the most fitting end. He could spare a few pounds of flesh to grind up and make into chili.
The third week brought yet another couple. They seemed smart enough to realize your invitation wasn't the friendly olive branch the others had interpreted it as. Their healthy skepticism was refreshing, to say the least. Then, you met them: Max and Archie.
"You'll have to forgive my partner's paranoia." Max said upon entering the house. He tugged playfully at Archie's hand. "We watched Get Out recently, so an invitation to the suburbs sounded some alarms in his sleep-deprived brain."
"I love that movie." You chimed in. "It reminds me of my family."
"Oh no." Archie's eyes widened in only half-pretend fear. He shot an I-told-you-so look in his partner's direction.
"But my favorite horror flick has to be Midsommar." You added. "My friends and I saw a midnight screening and we didn't sleep at all that night."
"But have you seen Hereditary?" Archie posited.
"Of course." You shrugged. "Aster is totally genius."
You made more than just polite conversation with the couple. Max, despite his young age, was a skilled data analyst and day trader. He attributed his success to the hard work of his immigrant parents. Archie was an environmental lawyer and land activist. He was also a bit of a thrill junkie, indulging in everything from scary movies to bungee jumping.
It didn't take long to realize that you wouldn't be eating them. They were far too pleasant of company to eat.
"So when is this baby planning to make its entrance?" Archie asked, gesturing to you. "You don’t look all that pregnant to me."
You put your hand over your slightly-protruding stomach. "Late August, I believe. If everything goes according to plan."
"You're not far along at all, aren’t you?" Max observed. "That gives us plenty of time to prove ourselves to you."
"Believe me." You put up your hand. "You're doing a great job so far."
“If you like horror stories, we might have to indulge you in the last two encounters we had.” Hannibal commented, leaning back comfortably in his chair. That was a good sign. “No blood was spilled, thank god. Would have ruined my carpets. But believe me when I tell you it came very close.”
The couple laughed along. Archie leaned in like he was about to tell a life-shattering secret. “You wouldn’t believe the hoops we had to jump through to even have the chance to adopt. And I don’t want to say that it’s because we’re an interracial gay couple, but...”
“Agencies aren’t exactly colorblind.” You finished, via his prompting.
“She gets it.” Archie pointed to you. “See, Maxie? She agrees with me.”
Max pushed his glasses up his nose. “I never said I disagreed.”
You spent the rest of the afternoon waiting for the conversation to take a sharp left turn off a cliff, but it didn’t happen. They were wonderful company; polite, intelligent and articulate. Exactly the kind of people you’d want to see taking care of your child.
You’d have to look for you next meal elsewhere.
Angel
Summary: You cross paths with famous Thomas Shelby after killing someone he wanted dead, and you can’t help but recognise so much of yourself in this man
(Gif by @nofckingfighting) A/N: The ever-lovely @psych0crybaby requested: good evening my dear. i saw that your request are open again. Could i ask for some Tommy with a total badass reader? Maybe where she saves their asses and no one knows where she is( and she just walks away) and then they see her again and ada explains to them that she mostly kills rapists and guys who harass woman because someone did the same to her when she was in the war? if you are comfortable with, if not have a good evening or day 🌺 I remember the first time I read this request and immediately being drawn to it. I did however want to do it right, you know? Like I really wanted to think about it, so I have. This comes with a warning for anyone familiar with PTSD, and some sexual abuse and assault is mentioned: this may be triggering. Sorry that it took a while to get this out, but I hope you like the result! Words: 4370 *** Breathe in. Look. See. Focus. Remember. Breath out. Throw. The first knife whooshed passed your face and hit the wall opposite you. The second followed quickly, almost magnetically. The third came after a small pause, the silence in which people feel a false sense of safety, and hit the target right in its middle.
“You’re too pretty to be out here in the mud.” “Again,” you told yourself, “there’s four of them”. Everything comes in four, good or bad. So you moved suddenly, ducked and threw three more knives, previously hidden in your sleeves.
“You know you want it.” Like a cat you jumped up onto a roof and mid-air threw three more, taken from your pockets. But the hardest was yet to come. The last man was always hidden, always late, like that last knife. He too swished and betrayed. So from your boots, you took another knife, jumped down suddenly and planted it in the back of the invisible assailant. “Good girl…” The job was done. Now for the real work. “What happened to you?” And you told yourself, “I’m ready.” ***
“What is your concern, Tommy?” “The one minute. The soldier’s minute. In battle it’s all you get.” Thomas Shelby lived his life looking over his shoulder, but when he turned, there was nothing there. You see it happening, everything at once and there’s no avoiding it. It’s always there, right behind you. Like running through a house with the devil hot on your heels, finally finding the way out, but when you step into the garden, it starts all over again: you’re back at your starting point. You see, your body may be outside in the sunlight, but your mind is back at the house. That’s what it felt like, every day. “We live somewhere between life and death.” This is what existing is: always living somewhere between life and death, between sleep and awake. And the nightmares, they bled into the days, taking over slowly. “Is it another war you’re looking for, Tommy?” There was supposed to be one war, to end all wars. But instead, kids were sent out to die in the mud, and for what? All that blood, smoke, tears, sweat and carnage. Men blowing the whistles, boys praying and crying. Was he looking for another war? That would imply the first one had ended. “I’ll remember everything and forget nothing. I’m thinking ahead, thinking of every possibility, remembering everything that is happening…” As if he could forget. The smallest things could trigger his memories, taking him right back. When John was little, he used to be scared of a monster. Ada had told him that: that there was a witch living in the walls that you could only see in the mirrors. John didn’t sleep for weeks after her little story. And now, the monster turned out to be real, except no one believed in it anymore. Still, it was everywhere and you had to be constantly on your guard. Because it’s not just in the walls and mirrors; it’s always right behind you, creeping, slithering, crawling it’s way up your spine… And so he became a machine, no longer a human being, fuelled by whiskey and cigarettes only, always plotting. “Thomas Shelby against the whole bloody world, right?” And so he wrote, “My name is Thomas Shelby and today, I’m going to kill a man.” *** There had been five of you at home. And home was in Small Heath, though you moved house all the time. When the poverty got bad, the family was split up and you and mother went into a boarding house for women, while father and the oldest brothers went into a boarding house for men. You were alright with this, because father was a bad man, but you feared for your brothers. Mother was the sweetest woman to ever live, always making sure you ate before she did. You never noticed her withering away before it was too late. At twelve, you started working. Walking the docks and shipyards was dangerous, so your brothers tried their best to prepare you. They weren’t like the other men in Small Heath. “Take this,” one brother told you on the morning of your first shift, “Hide it, in those boots.” You’d gotten charity boots, the first one in the family! But walking in them still felt uneasy, and now he expected you to slide in a small knife as well? “When someone comes,” he continued, urging you with his fiery eyes, “you stick ‘m. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate and don’t ask any questions. When he comes, you stick ‘m and you keep on sticking ‘m!” This was the first lesson you’d been taught. Four brothers all taught their little sister and each had but one objective: keeping you safe. One gave you the knife, the other taught you how to fight and the third took the beatings your drunk father had intended for you. The fourth hadn’t any strength or knowledge to share, so he kept close. Wherever you went, he followed in the shadows, and it was like having your own guardian angel, made up of filth and smoke. When the war came, they all enlisted. Of course they did: they were good, strong and brave men. You saw them off, one by one, and after waving goodbye to your guardian angel, something inside you snapped. Inspired by their love and courage, you became a nurse and took up a post at the front. You became a guardian angel yourself. *** Tommy was looking for a war. After France, they’d taken over the Shelby enterprise again and he had ambitions of expansion. Still, there were those in Small Heath who’d forgotten about the Shelby’s and he had to re-establish their reputation. “It’s happened again, Tommy,” John said sombrely, during a family meeting. Tommy sighed and dipped his head forwards, “Will he live?” “Yeah,” his brother replied, “but what are we going to do about this?” Polly, the voice of reason, said, “You need to make an example of him, Thomas. Show him who’s in charge. We can’t have a few Irish rebels killing and beating up our runner-boys. It’s bad for business.” Tommy nodded slowly and was formulating a plan as they spoke, “He drinks at the Horse’s Head. That’s where we’ll get him.” “Are you mad?” Arthur questioned, “On any given night there’s at least fifty Irish in there. It’s like a bloody army!” “We’re not scared of some fucking Irish,” John spat. “We’re not,” Tommy looked at his aunt with whom he shared his strategic skills, “but we need to be smart about this.” “Smoke him out,” Polly added, knowing her nephew’s mind so well. “We need an incentive.” Everything was all planned out. Tommy had an explosion, a staged fight and the rum in place. The men would scatter, the police would be elsewhere and their target would run. As the pub would be set on fire, he would literally be smoked out. That’s where they would be. The plan was good, well thought out and each eventually had been dealt with.
When the night came, the first part worked like a well-oiled machine. A small explosion in the shipyards, John’s, had drawn the police away. It would take them a while too, seeing as the Communists held their meetings there. Danny Whizz-bang would be inside the pub, looking both menacingly and vulnerable enough to not attract attention among the rebels. He was doing good tonight; he’d be able to light the fire. Tommy, Arthur and a few other blinders were waiting in the alleyways. Smoke started emerging from the pub and Tommy’s head shot up at the shouts of men. As he was getting ready mentally, he thought: some day, I won’t be the one doing this work. As men started fighting and chaos ensued, he followed one insignificant figure with his eyes. This man ran, frantically, into the protection of one of the dark alleys. Tommy followed and shouted his name. The man turned and his face fell as he recognised the Shelby. He in turn grabbed his gun and pointed it at him, saying, “Don’t fuck with the Peaky Blinders.” But as Tommy was about to pull the trigger, the man fell forwards. The irritation of an eventuality not anticipated shot through Tommy and as he walked forwards, he saw a small knife sticking out of the Irish’ neck. He died on the spot. His first thought was if he could still pass this off as a killing by the Peaky Blinders, because Polly had been right: they needed to make a statement. Of course he could. His second thought lasted a lot longer and actually drove him to action: who’d done this? The angle of the knife made him look up, towards the roofs. No one was there, but Tommy still ran. As a kid, he used to climb roofs. As an adult, he dug tunnels. It’s funny how both came back to him now. Fearing whomever it was he couldn’t see, he chased the murderer. Once up, he could easily recognise the signs: someone had been on the roofs. There were bits of dust where bricks had been falling, flecks of ash where someone had been smoking and the smell of soap where someone had been waiting. Still, the killer was long gone. *** You weren’t sleeping, but sort of dreaming with one eye open. You did that a lot. Nightmares kept you vigilant, even at night. The boarding house you were living at was positively Dickensian, but you didn’t mind. You came from nothing and had little trouble going back to it. Besides, there was no money coming in at the moment, so you didn’t have the funds for any proper room.
In the dark, you thought of the men on your list. One of the best things about the boarding house was its anonymity. People who lived here were the poorest of the poorest, only surpassed by those on the streets and the working houses. No one asked any questions, no one looked at each other and shame drove people into hiding. The large room was separated into small spaces by a few curtains only, but still, there was some sense of privacy. In the darkness, you could think. The worst thing about the boarding house was the sound. It wasn’t the crying babies, children whining for food or people fighting each other, but the sound of pain. Some women wailed in their sleep and it shook you to your core every time. Your mother had sounded like that. You had too, you knew it. Early in the morning, you left. “Where are you off to, eh?” the old lady who slept next to you asked. In some ways, she was the pauper’s queen and she got away with prying. “Work,” you replied shortly. The old woman laughed a hoarse laugh, “You’re not fooling no one, dearie…” As soon as you walked onto the streets, a calmness came over you. Poverty was familiar, but it frightened you too. It was like a hand around your throat, always squeezing just a little but more. Inside, especially, it was like drowning. In Small Heath, some women had started their first shifts at the factories already and men were shovelling coal into the big machines. Sparks flew and fizzled out in your hair. Soot clung to your already filthy clothing. In other words, nothing about you looked out of the ordinary. The rest of the day was filled with you practising two skills: observing and vanishing. You listened in on conversations everywhere, while timidly looking away when anyone did notice you. Men boasted of their achievements and women complained everywhere. But you listened for any signs of cruelty and found it easily. See, in a city forgotten by civilisation, no one notices cruelty anymore. It’s part of everyday life. You, however, had decided to change that. This was your revenge, or atonement, whichever way you looked at it. One man in particular stood out to you. His eyes were cold and his shoulders broad, and when his wife came to him during his break, he slapped her without warning. Sometimes menace leaves a certain aura and you could sense it in him. When a filthy child came from the factory as well, also on a short break, you motioned the child to come over. “Hey, love,” you said softly. The child didn’t trust you, but his sunken eyes still pleaded, “What?” “Here,” you offered him a bun you’d just stolen, “I need your help.” He hadn’t eaten in days, that much was clear, and with his mouth full of crumbs, he said, “Wiff whaff?” “I’m new here in Birmingham. Where can I get a job?” He pointed, “Ask the foreman.” You smiled gently, “Thanks, love.” “Where’d you get the bun?” he inquired, less shy with each bite. “My husband bought it for me.” “You not hungry?” This child was sweet, so he’d know, “No, you have it. We got more at home.” “Okay,” and he continued absolutely devouring the pastry. Just before he walked off again, you asked him, off-handedly, “That man, over there?” you pointed at the man with stony eyes, “You know him?” The boy fell still, “Yeah. He works here.” “What’s his name?” “Don’t know,” he whispered, “But mum told us to stay away.” “Why?” The kid shrugged, “He’s a bad man I suppose.” “Like those Shelby’s,” you tried, knowing the kid would know them like everyone around here did. It worked. “Nah,” he laughed, “the Shelby’s would never touch a woman!” “Does he?” you asked, eyes narrowing. “Mum says so. Mum says women are scared of him, because he hurts them. All of them.” You nodded slowly, “Why don’t the Peaky Blinders take care of him?” He shrugged again, “Miss? Thanks for the bun, but I really need to get back. I need my job.” “I know,” you urged him, “Go.” In France, you helped the sick and dying. This is what you had come for and you’d given up everything to do it. With the telegram of each brother found dead, you became more focussed on the work. It was like you turned into a machine, running only on adrenaline. Sometimes you would work shifts of 48 hours, simply because the other nurse had collapsed, or because the bodies wouldn’t stop coming in. Fear became second nature and fatigue had to be ignored. But being tired also made vulnerable: you learned this when one of the superior officers followed you into the halls of the makeshift hospital. Remaining on your feet after working for so long was easy, as long as you kept on moving. But when he grabbed you and you paused, your knees started buckling. Maybe it’d been the fear, maybe it was his rank and maybe it was purely that fucking bloody war, but there was no fight left in you in that moment. He had his way with you and you just… froze. Shame and guilt drove you back to England and back into the shadows you retreated. And then, shame and guilt turned into anger and the guardian angel became an avenging angel. You didn’t have to wait long. After his work was done, you followed the man with the cold eyes, watching his every move. All your fears and the kid’s warnings were confirmed in a dark corner of a filthy street. The woman never stood a chance. And so you vowed: you would end him. *** “What’s up with you?” Ada asked pointedly. Tommy’s head shot up and he stared at his sister with vacant eyes. “Thomas Shelby, the man who never eats. A rare biological mystery, he is,” Ada commented sarcastically. He grabbed a fork and picked up a potato, “I eat.” “Hardly,” Polly commented. “I have work to do, so if you ladies don’t mind…” But Ada wasn’t finished, “You’ve been lost in thought all day. Mind sharing it with us?” “No really.”
“Because we’re just women or…”
“Ada!” Tommy sighed, “Something… happened. Something unexpected and I can’t figure out how.”
“And this bothers you.”
There was something deeply infuriating about having a sister who was reading the newspaper, right next to you, but never made eye contact, and still she was absolutely right about everything. So Tommy threw his head back and admitted defeat, “Someone killed a man.”
“It’s Small Heath.”
“Someone I wanted dead, but he got there before me.”
Polly sat back down and leaned forwards, “The Irish? I though we did that.”
“Yes, that is what I had people believe.”
Ada suddenly looked up, “How?”
“I failed to take it into my calculations…”
“No. How was the Irish killed?”
Tommy blinked a few times, “A knife. Thrown from the roof.”
His sister smiled faintly, didn’t say a word and then went back to her newspaper.
“Ada…” Tommy growled, “If you know something, tell me.”
“Why? I thought you boys were taking care of business now.”
He looked at his aunt for support, almost desperate, but saw from her face that he could hope for little sympathy there.
“Fine, what do you want,” he demanded.
“Respect,” Ada said coldly.
“You have my respect.”
“Good,” she slowly flipped the page, “Now tell me you need me.”
Polly’s smirk grew into a grin and Tommy cursed all women, right there and then.
So he cleared his throat, “Ada, please, tell me.”
“It’s almost like it’s physically painful for him, isn’t it?” Polly said conversationally to Ada.
“Fucking hell…” Tommy groaned, “Ada, I fucking need your help. Please just tell me what you know!”
“Fine,” she abruptly closed the newspaper, “You need to go to that pub in Digbeth.”
“The one by the water?” Tommy frowned.
“That’s the one. Next to that boarding house that should’ve been closed years ago. That’s where you’ll find your killer.”
Immediately, he stood up. Because even though he thought he’d been subtle about it, he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the incident for days now. The killer, whoever he was, had taken over his thoughts entirely. It was dark outside already, but still early enough for the pubs to be open. He’d go there at once.
“Tell her I said ‘hi’,” Ada called after him as he left.
And Tommy retraced his steps slowly, “‘Her’?”
“Her.”
He paused for a second, but when nothing else came, “You know they don’t allow women in pubs.”
“They do her,” Ada chuckled.
“Ada, stop playing these fucking games!” he shouted, as he threw down his cap in anger.
She, however, didn’t even blink and repeated, “Her. It’s a woman who killed your Irishman. All the women here know her; she takes care of a certain kind of man for us. She doesn’t want it known and she rids the world of bastards, so we leave her be. It all works out.”
Tommy turned to Polly, “Did you know of this?”
“I’ve heard of her, yes.”
“Then why the fuck has no one told me before?”
Polly sent a stern gaze at her nephew from over her teacup, “I thought you weren’t interested in women’s business.”
***
When you walked into the pub, a small nod to the man behind the bar was all that was needed. Dressing like a man had many advantages and this was definitely one of them. Still, he knew you were a woman, but after helping him out one night, you were allowed in. So you sat in the corner and became one with the furniture, drinking your whiskey in silence.
And then it happened. One man, who had no business being here, walked in. Thomas Shelby of the Peaky Blinders was considered royalty in Small Heath, so why would he be here, in this grimy little cellar pub?
The thought that he came looking for you never even crossed you mind at first. He leaned over the bar and ordered whiskey, asking a few more questions you couldn’t hear. You tried to listen more closely, but the more you did so, the more inaudible his words seemed to become.
Suddenly, he turned and looked you right in the eyes. Without a second thought, you jumped up, kicked the table towards him and made your way to the door.
“Fuck,” you heard him ground out, but still he was quick. In a flash, he had the door barricaded and a gun pointed at your head.
“Out!” he commanded everyone but you.
You felt for the reassuring blades under your clothes and relaxed a little.
“Now, Miss…” he started after everyone had left.
But you didn’t plan on being interrogated, so the first knife whooshed passed his head: a warning.
Thomas Shelby froze. Then it was like an animal awoke in him and he lunged forwards, tackling you down with him. While you were struggling, you tried to plant a second knife into his leg, but he rolled away just in time. With big eyes he stared at the weapon now stuck in the floor.
And so you were standing opposite each other, weapons of choice pointed at each other’s heads.
“Alright,” he said after a while, holding up his hands in a pacifying manner, “There’s no need to fight.”
“Spoken by a man who knows he will lose,” you replied, without missing a beat.
“You want a fight?” Tommy said quickly, “Then fight me like a man. No gun, no fucking knives. If my sister is right about you, you’ll fight me like a man.”
With that you scoffed and threw away the knives, right next to his head, into the door. It gave you such pleasure to see him shudder with each one, but your face betrayed nothing.
“Now what?” you asked.
“You tell me.”
“Fine,” you sighed and punched him in the face, hard.
As his head shot back, you noticed a flicker of surprise in his features, but he quickly recovered and his face turned emotionless yet again.
Your triumph didn’t last long. If anything, you arrogance had distracted you, so the three blows that followed from his fists came out of nowhere. One to the nose, one to the chin and the last one square in the jaw. Thank God you weren’t vain.
You took a breath in, made yourself focus and quickly jabbed him two times, before hitting him right in the eye with a mean left hook.
“Jesus Christ…” he muttered, “Who the fuck taught you how to fight like that?”
“My brothers,” you replied, before you could stop yourself.
Tommy held up his hands and his two punches to your gut literally took your breath away. Meanwhile, he said, “Why aren’t they here to defend you now, eh?”
“Do I look like I need to be fucking defended?” With a sudden kick you were certain you cracked at least on of his ribs.
Wheezing, he leaned over, but managed to grab your leg in the process and flipped you over onto the ground, “Brothers still do.”
“They’re dead,” you said from the floor, “the Somme,” and with one quick motion, you’d tackled him with your legs, “What about you?”
“The Somme too. Verdun…”
Before he could recover, you climbed on top of him and started pounding his pretty face with your fists. Unfortunately, he quickly bucked you off and hit you with a nasty uppercut, which made you wonder about your teeth.
You crawled back a little and felt with a hand at your mouth: blood. Tommy leaned against the wall and was still panting, lightly tracing a hand over his ribs. The chaos subdued and you both rested.
“Are we done?” he growled.
You stared at him with a look that told him you could go on for hours like this, “What is it that you want?”
“I just want to talk.”
Quickly, you started thinking out your options. Clearly, he knew who you were and evidently, you’d killed the wrong person this time. Really, it was bound to happen at some point.
“Who was it?” you asked, “the one you didn’t want dead.”
“I did want him dead,” he said as he slowly lifted his cigarette case from his pocket.
“Then what’s the problem?”
He smiled a little and the gesture was so unexpected that the feeling it gave you caught you completely off-guard, “I wanted to be the one to kill him.”
You furrowed your brows, thought back and suddenly nodded slowly, “The Irishman.”
He pointed at you with his cigarette in hand, “That’s the one.”
In the silence that followed, you watched this man, this broken boy. His eyes started glazing over and you knew he drifted off to placed in the distant past. As he smoked slowly, you recognised the signs of a flashback so well and you suddenly became more curious than ever about this man.
He saw the same thing in you evidently, because out of the blue he said, “You and me. I think we understand each other.”
“Do we?” you said in a voice that demanded distance.
He nodded a little, “We kill.”
You laughed a cold laugh, “Are you insane like me?”
“Maybe I am…”
“Or just in pain like me?” you added.
He didn’t speak for a long time, like he was thinking what to say next, but then, suddenly, he broke the pregnant silence. “Who hurt you?” he asked, in a voice so low it was almost inaudible.
You leaned forwards and locked eyes with him, fire burning inside them, “Everyone.”
Tommy sat back and offered you a cigarette, but soon realised you wouldn’t take it from his hands without expecting abuse from them. So he threw it your way and you grabbed it gratefully. When you lit it, the two of you leaned against the wall in the same manner, postures similar.
“It’s time,” he announced, looking up at the ceiling.
You cocked one eyebrow, “Is it?”
“The minute is almost up.”
“And how does it end?”
He sighed, “With names. You’ve beaten me. I’m no longer Mr. Thomas Shelby. It’s Tommy now.”
And you smiled at him softly and replied with your own vulnerability, “Y/N.”
