hi!!

my name is henri, and this is my first tumblr post in... a long time lol. i've returned solely for the tlt fandom if i'm being honest, so i thought i'd post my fanart here :)

i recently began a TLT tarot series and i am currently working on my third piece of that series (the Empress). if you're interested in seeing my explanation for The River as "The Fool" card, here's my original instagram post (bonus points for checking out my art insta).

this leads to my interpretation of Palamedes as "The Magician." there are several reasons i chose this assignment, one of them being the Magician's link from the spiritual realm to the physical. while there are many spirit magicians in TLT series, i felt that Palamedes' role in HTN was very much an "in-between" existence, not fully submerged in the River, but not in the world of the living. the Magician urges the reader to harness their full potential, and is a symbol of manifesting goals. Palamedes is nothing if not determined (exploding himself, haunting a skull fragment, creating space Between the River, etc....) and one of the most skilled non-Lyctor necromancers in the series. according to The Arcana Tarot, the Magician sees facts devoid of connotations of "good" or "evil," and urges the reader to challenge perspectives. this analytical approach definitely aligns with Palamedes and his scholarly habits imo..

the four symbols of this card represent four main subcategories of necromancy: spirit, blood, flesh, and bone magic. obviously, there are more niche practices in tlt necromancy (soul siphoning, for example), and blood wards are a subset of flesh magic. i chose blood wards as the fourth "suit" of my tarot deck simply because of its prevalence to the tlt universe, specifically the events of ntn. Palamedes stands with one arm up and one down, in the typical "Magician" pose, and is positioned between black earth (physical realm) and spirits entering the River to symbolize the Magician's role as a mediator between the two.

me: despite the fact that henry isnt actually confirmed to be neurodivergent, its very obvious if you think about it. many neurodivergent kids have issues making friends and he outright states that hes a loner, which is odd because he seems to genuinely want to know natalie even if not in a romantic way, so why would he choose to be alone? furthermore, hes obviously intelligent enough to be in the same classes as Natalie, who classes are advanced even for high school, so even if he calls himself lazy, he obviously isnt. this prompts the question of why he uses marijuana if he obviously isnt a lazy idiot. when Natalie first brings it up, she retorts that it's for his ADD, which Henry quickly agrees with before asking 'huh?' this raises the possibility that Henry does have ADD and his following question was because he doesn't know how Natalie got this information. finally, he's always seen in long sleeves and pants which might be nothing but, as a neurodivergent individual, leads me to believe that it's a stim thing.
