I love that we’re only seven episodes in and we’ve already had “my partner’s in danger and I, a normally by-the-book type, am fuckin ragin but these things are not connected” episode and in the back half we’re getting an unlikely formal wear “oh no she’s hot” contrived-reason-for-dancing.

What’s next? An almost-kiss by season end?

(Kids, this is the establishment of a slow burn. You don’t just will one into existence, it’s clearly communicated from early on, there’s just going to be a number of bad-timing obstacles in the way)

Actually 911 should cross over with High Potential, because it’s on at 10 so it can be slightly more adult, and it’s set in LA, and Karadec and Athena would hate each other, but Morgan and Buck would vibe. Even though she’s more intense with all the spitting facts, they could talk about enjoying a good nature/history documentary! 🤔 no idea at all how it would work, but it’s a fun thought!

Hello High Potential fandom

One of the funniest things to me is how Morgan interacts with Karadec vs the rest of the Major Crimes team.

She’s pleasant and warm with the team, bringing in doughnuts, apologizing for stealing Daphne’s candy, bantering with Oz, and having calm investigation sessions with Soto about Roman’s case.

And with Karadec? Sheer mass chaos. If she’s not actively flouting the rules then she’s telling you how much you suck (for not letting her flout the rules). No she will NOT bring in your favorite pastry until she decides if she likes you, and also you’re about to get into a chase with a suspect bc she wants to reveal evidence in a dramatic way.

There’s reasons for why that is - they have similar personalities, they are harder on one another bc they’re partners and they have to trust one another more, Morgan is more sensitive to Karadec’s frustration w/ her than she lets on and is working very hard to pretend she doesn’t care.

But honestly, I just find it really funny that Morgan is vibing so well with the rest of the team while Karadec is just 1000% done with life.

I do like that Morgan and Karadec are autism 4 autism. He’s the “there are rules and they must be followed” type and she’s the “your social convention is meaningless to me” type. ❤️

I really love how Daniel Sunjata plays Karadec, portraying him as empathetic and kind, but in a quiet, serious way. He believes in what he’s doing, but the job has worn him down.

It makes his dynamic with Morgan really appealing, bc you get the sense she’s the first person to make him smile in a very long time. (And she’s not even really trying! She’s just joking like she always does. There’s just something in Morgan that reaches Karadec in a way no one else can.)

I feel like their partnership is going to grow in this way, and it’ll be super interesting to watch. Especially how they have a dangerous job, and part of Karadec’s role is to protect his consultant, bc she doesn’t have police training. A “It’s my job to protect you” combined with “If I lose you, I’ll lose the light you’ve brought into my world” mindset is one of my fav ship dynamics.

Honestly that’s such a real line. Smart women are constantly belittled for their intelligence, then when they exhibit the personality traits associated with a high IQ, they’re called stupid, usually by men who feel threatened and want to go after what they know is simultaneously one of the biggest thing they have confidence in and the biggest thing they’re shamed for.
