The sibling dynamic between Hesh and Logan has rotted the innards of my brain. Long ramble of me reading into this too much and probably making it personal below the cut, lol.

They’re extremely close, grow up practically codependent, at least from a certain point onward. Hesh brothers Logan in an almost fatherly way sometimes because their actual father places this responsibility on him (albeit largely unintentionally I imagine), for the literal sole fact that he’s two (2) years older than Logan. That’s it, just two. He got parentified like a lot of older siblings tend to be, purely due to circumstance of being the eldest. If Logan was older this dynamic would most likely have been the same thing. Hesh was pushed into this protector role regardless of how he feels about it.

And I wonder how it would’ve panned out had Elias tried to foster a more ‘behave as a unit’ approach rather than ‘Hesh protect Logan regardless’ type thing. Logan followed in Hesh’s footsteps (QUITE LITERALLY!) and strived to be just like him. During all their training, they “became men” together and learned how to communicate non verbally to the point where they’re near fucking telepathic.

Yes they fight together, yes Logan was there for Hesh always, “Logan has my back and I have his, we’re brothers” yes yes yes. But Hesh was damn near playing caretaker for him sometimes. From the beginning of the game we see Elias telling Hesh to look out for Logan constantly, and he continues to throughout the entire game. And at the end when Rorke drags Logan away you can hear the pain and the panic in Hesh’s voice (duh). Can see him trying to reach for him and crawl to him. From the beginning to the end, Hesh is Logan’s big brother in every sense of the word. From childhood to the moment Logan is drug off the beach, Hesh is right there with him like a guardian angel. Or more like a guard dog maybe lol. And I just wonder what difference it would’ve made if Elias didn’t force Hesh (whether he meant to or not doesn’t even matter) to shoulder the burden of not only growing up himself, but guiding Logan so heavily at the same time.

And what gets me the most about this is that Logan is just as experienced as Hesh, minus those two years that Hesh joined the army before Logan turned 18. They trained together, Rorke implied that Elias trained them a lot himself, and Logan is just as capable. Just as intelligent, prepared, skilled, etc. Yet in some parts of the game, it almost seems like his ‘baby of the family’ role follows him, despite being a skilled spec ops soldier fighting an active war, and it’s just so interesting to me. I just know this has gotta be a deep seated thing for Hesh, to have been his brothers guardian in a sense, despite only having two years on him. He was just as young and confused, just as in need of guidance, and yes Elias provided a lot of that for the both of them, but Hesh kinda had to wing it a lot I think. He didn’t have an older sibling to look up to because he IS the older sibling being looked up to.

And on the flip side, how is Logan meant to interpret that growing up, in any other way besides ‘Hesh knows more, does more, is better than me, knows better than me, etc’ type of thing? You’re being looked after by an older sibling half the time, of course you’re gonna idolize them more than a sibling might do so even in a regular/healthy circumstance. Like yea that’s his big brother and he’s gonna look up to him regardless, but you’re only two years younger being silently treated like you’re in need of this caretaking….c’mon. Elias created a dynamic in which the two of them are so codependent, that it had to have hurt Hesh on an even deeper level to lose Logan than it already would’ve. That would already be soul shattering in the first place, especially with the dogshit ass circumstances they were in, but to lose the little brother that you most definitely feel personally responsible for…? This is why I think Hesh would genuinely be tweaking the fuck out post beach.

And to add onto this ramble about Merrick becoming like a mentor to Hesh, I can see Hesh getting some actual older male guidance without the addendum of ‘also here’s this other guy you need to look out for’ being healing in a way. Dare I say Keegan/Kick would even become like an older brother figure to Hesh and kinda fill that hole, the older brother he didn’t get.

Anyways idk I’m insane about them always. You unintentionally made your sons codependent on one another, and then you die, and then one son is taken, blah blah we know what happened. I mean damn lol.

Remus sat in his dingy, dark flat, staring at the half-empty Firewhiskey bottle in his hand. 

The past few days- weeks?- were a blur in his memory, starting when he had gotten the call from Mary on that fateful Halloween night.

James and Lily, dead. Peter, dead. Sirius, a murderer.

Honestly, Remus was heartbroken. How could he not be? The love of his life- his husband, actually, since they had gotten married two weeks before that cursed day- was a murderer. A serial killer.

And the worst part? Remus still loved him. He still loved the killer of his three best friends, the spy in the Order who had murdered the McKinnons in cold blood, the man who had slaughtered twelve Muggles and Peter with a singular spell.

He should have stopped loving him the moment Sirius started acting weird, but no. He was concerned.

Remus scoffed and downed his Firewhiskey.

Pure blood really did run Black.

Sirius curled up against the cold stone floor of his cell, shivering. 

He had stopped pleading his innocence to the Dementors and the occasional prison guards a while ago- or not very long ago. He didn’t remember. 

Time was hard in Azkaban. 

The only way he could tell if it were night or day was through a small window in the uppermost corner of his cell. 

He as good as had the blood of James and Lily on his hands, after convincing them to switch to Peter.

He was the one responsible for everything. He had probably broken Remus’s heart-

Remus.

Sirius could just barely see an image of him in his mind, his warm amber eyes and his bright smile. It was fading fast, though, darned Dementors. 

He held onto the last wisps of Remus’s tearful “I do” at their wedding and fell asleep.

By the time he was up again, the memory had long since vanished.

you had no idea why you thought playing a horror game at 2 a.m. was a good idea—especially with karina asleep in the next room. but here you were, curled up in your chair, gripping your keyboard like your life depended on it. your chat was loving every second, spamming laughing emojis and "you're so cooked" messages.

then, it happened.

the door behind your character slammed shut. the screen flickered. a deep, guttural noise rumbled through your headphones.

you froze. your breath caught in your throat, hands hovering over the controls, but you could not bring yourself to move.

"no, no, no, no, no..." you whispered, barely making a sound.

you pressed a hand over your mouth, shoulders shaking as you tried to breathe. tears welled up, but you blinked fast, trying to keep yourself together.

the last thing chat saw before you disconnected was your teary eyes, ruffled hair, and hand out of frame, fingers curled like you were holding onto something—someone.

One month later

addiesummertongossip Before singing her hit song “Lover Girl” as Lana Del Rey’s opener, Adelaide gave a short speech. The transcript is included in full below. “So, a few months ago, I released a little song called ‘Lover Girl’. It was an idea I came up with in the middle of the night. You know, like one of those random epiphanies you get right before you fall asleep? And, anyways, the thought was that it would be about a girl, who was once a hopeless romantic — a nod to one of my other songs — but suddenly met the boy of her dreams. He did more than just the bare minimum. When I wrote that song, it was a fantasy for me. NO like sunghoon has quite literally taken over my brain ahsbhjftshis. but thank you for the follow omg!! you guy’s headcannons are keeping me so inspired. sometimes the headcannons that are painfully obvious are the best! because we KNOW they're probably the most realistic <3

warnings: slight angst?, history with negative emotions.

from a personal and relatable perspective, sunghoons dealt with a lot of isolation and maybe even trauma because of his diligent childhood, and so teaching those skills to someone he holds so dear to his heart is probably a terrifying thought. He's been asked if he would ever teach his child to skate, and never gave a definite answer as he wanted to ensure that it was truly something his child "would want to do." So when you mention to him how exciting you think it would be to go ice skating, he goes into fight or flight mode. He doesn't know if he should give it a chance for the purpose of making you smile, or straight up reject the idea in fear you might end up like him. But from the moment you step into the rink, frustratingly attempting to lace up your skates with a passion he hadn't seen in so long, especially in himself, he starts to accept that the things he once held with such frustration and resentment might've only been because he was blinded by its hindrance for so long. He’d forgotten the beauty it held. Seeing you sitting there, hair gently pulled over to one side as the cold air touches your skin, your quite literally the most beautiful thing he's ever seen.

"Don't worry baby, I'll show you." he utters, kneeling down before you as he pulls your ankle into his hands. His hair falls in front of his forehead, short enough that you can make out the small smile gracing his face. You swear to yourself he looks just like a prince. He laces your shoes tightly, and presents a hand out for you to hold, pulling you up to standing ever so gently. You're losing balance at the way he pulls you closer to his face, watching his eyes glimpse your lips before coming back up to your eyes. He doesn't look away as he guides you onto the ice, not even as the ground becomes too slippery for you to balance. Your legs begin to wobble, and you question whether this was a good idea in the first place, but you catch the way Sunghoon hasn't stopped smiling. How his eyes have squinted with joy since you stepped inside the rink a short while ago.

His hands snake around your waist, guiding you in front of his chest as he leads you around the rink. The weight of his steps steady you, guiding you smoothly across the ice. He can't take his eyes off you, not with the way you light up after starting to get the hang of things. Your eyes shift from the floor back up to his face, finding that he's already staring, and it turns you shy. He notices the way your hands place themselves on top of his. He loves that you need him, that he feels needed. Like he’s finally making someone feel the joy of the art that he hasn’t felt in so long. And in this moment, Sunghoon isn’t wincing at the thought of himself skating, most definitely when it’s with you.
