“What is it, babe?” Jongseob stops with you.

“That dress...” You marvel aloud, still in awe. “It’s beautiful.”

“Yeah? Do you wanna try it on?” He suggests, making you look at him surprised. “Oh, no, I was just looking…” You shake your head. “Looks expensive.” You tug on your boyfriend’s hand, walking away from the store.

Jongseob had a habit of spending money. He wouldn’t spend it irresponsibly, of course, but he finds himself doing it more often. He finally got something out of all those producing credits on top of his work as an idol.

Yes, he splurged on himself, but he found that he splurged on you more often.

Short on cash? He’s got plenty.

Buying something? The reader already says accepted before you can even tap your card.

Bad day? Tub of ice cream and your favourite flowers suddenly show up at your doorstep.

You get worried he doesn’t treat himself as much as he should, but he always says seeing the look on your face is worth more than anything he could get for himself.

He puts so much time into gifts for you that you almost feel bad your gifts for him don’t amount as much as they do for you. But he loves everything you give him, no matter how small it may be. The ramen jellycat you got him (which cost more than it should’ve) is the one stuffed toy he brings with him when he travels, and the only one he proudly posts with.

That was worth more to you and to him than any other form of materialism.

Gift giving has always been his love language.

“Are you sure you don’t want anything, Y/N?” Jongseob asks.

“I’m sure, Jongseob. Everything here is so expensive…”

“But—“

“I can’t have you always pay for me, I feel bad!”

“But I wanna pay for you, babe…”

The endearment almost makes you give in. “I know you do. But I feel spoiled.”

“Because I like spoiling you.” He pulls out a bag from behind his back.

“What’s this?” You ask as you pull out the product from the bag. “Saw you eyeing it when we passed by that cosmetics store.” He speaks up.

“Jongseob!”

“What? It’s the right shade.”

You grumble, unsure of whether to be grateful or mad at him.

“Come on, you know you like it.” He teases.

“I do…”

“Are you mad?”

“Yes, I’m mad!”

“I know you’re lying.”

You pout and look away. “Thank you…” You mutter, feeling his hand gently guide you to face him. Your eyes are still focused down. “No problem, baby.” He kisses your cheek softly before taking your hand in his. “Wanna go home now?” He asks, and you timidly nod as he guides both of you back to the parking lot.

Jongseob got invited to some formal event you can’t remember the name of, and he wanted to bring you as his plus one. Surely there were other plus ones there, but the difference between you and them is that you are not famous. Unlike the famous couples, it was going to be famous young producer-idol Jongseob with you, a ‘what’s her name again’ and ‘I’ve never heard of her’ person.

“You’ll be okay, baby, you’ve got me.” He reassures.

“I don’t wanna burden you and linger around you all the time.”

“Why would you ever think of yourself as a burden?” You feel his presence behind you. His arms wrap around your waist, bending his head down for it to rest on your shoulder. “You’re my sweet, sweet, beautiful girlfriend with a heart of gold that deserves nothing but love—“ He cuts himself off by attacking your neck with kisses.

“Jongseob!” You giggle.

He presses one last kiss to your cheek. “And besides, I got a gift for you for tonight.”

“You deserve to be spoiled, Y/N.” He goes to the closet and pulls out a bag. “Here.” He places it on your vanity.

You carefully pull out a dress and realize what it is. “Is this the dress we saw in that designer store a few days ago?” You look at him, wide eyed, gaze switching between the dress and him. He merely responds with a smile. “Jongseob! This was so expensive!”

“I bargained a little. Learned from the best.”

“Does it even fit?” You check the tag, noticing it’s your exact size. He speaks up. “You know I know how you fit, baby.”

You can’t help but stare at the dress in shock, unable to get any words out. Jongseob rests his head on your shoulder. “Where’s my thank you?” You snap out of your trance, slowly smiling. “Thank you, baby.” Your head turns to kiss his cheek, but instead your lips meet his.

He kisses you softly before pulling away, pressing one more quick peck to your lips right after. “Go try it on, Y/N.”

You begin to change into the dress, slipping into it carefully so you don’t damage it. Jongseob helps zip up the back of your dress, watching you turn around so you’re facing him. “Wow…” He mutters under his breath.

“What?”

“You look incredible, baby. This dress was made for you.”

“Thank you, Jongseob.” You turn around to look at yourself in the mirror. “I feel expensive.”

Suddenly, a cold sensation rests on your collarbone and slowly comes up. “Lift your hair up for me?” He asks. You notice a beautiful necklace dangling around your neck, yet it looks unfamiliar.

Long story long:

I'm an artist, a queer activist, a writer and a LARPer. I'm employed full-time plus doing some side gigs plus trying to sell my artworks, but salaries in Ukraine just aren't that great. I'm making monthly about $1200 and half of that goes for the rent. Some medical bills for my partner and my doggo already left me with about -1750 USD on my credit card. I got another credit card approved for the surgery specifically and my partner and I are planning to move out to a cheaper place in December, but I’m planning the surgery for October, so paying off the debts will be hard for a while.

I know there're a lot of causes closer to home, whenever that home is for you. If I'm honest that's why I try to ask people from outside Ukraine bc here every donation we have to make is for the survival of our people. Something like a top surgery is frivoulos compared to that.

i'm dedicating this month to fixing my finances and getting organized with it. i already started on it with the last few weeks of dec. with the goal of paying off my credit card balances to 0 to reset my monthly money.

both my cards will be fully paid off on the 31st and then after that i'll only have to deal with all of max's reoccurring charges on his credit card!

outside of that i want to put a bit extra on top of what i've been paying off to an old closed credit card to finally be done with that in october this year officially!

i bought a little book to help me organize understanding how to budget.... definitely letting this month be chaotic since i'm only just starting to understand my monthly needs LOL

but between figuring out a better money flow will help me with putting money into savings since i think i FINALLY have an understanding of a 6 month emergency fund and it's importance and how to figure what i need for my own (even made a dedicated savings account for it), saving for a fresh car down payment (my first time buying one), and then now maybe saving up for the switch 2 and my cat's vet visits since he's old LOL

it's nice to see a real future ahead where like 65% of each paycheck is going towards a credit card that i kept ending up spending on!!! i'm getting my bs impulse spending under control and even finally started up my 401k after never knowing how you get started on one my whole life!

Do you have tips for how to hold your tongue and not get offended when dealing with wealthy people? Sometimes it’s hard to be around them because some of them are so ungrateful and out of touch with reality.

I’ve worked hard to get where I’m at and I come from a not so privileged background. It really pisses me off when I hear ultra privileged women complain about anything. They don’t know how uncomfortable their life could be.

My friend works at a firm and is good friends with her bosses daughter. Her dad is Rich Rich. He is so wealthy that he got his first credit card at 50 years old, just so he could rack up rewards points like a game. He said he wanted to know what everyone raved about. No one in this family has had a real job in at least 100 years. Just to give you an idea.

My friend had me and his daughter over for dinner and she said some stuff that made me want to argue. She was complaining about billionaires existing and how they’re unethical and immoral. While she was saying this, her dad was on a retreat in Switzerland with people who are pushing billionaire status. If wealth was so offensive to her, then she should start rejecting her trust fund. Right? Neither my friend or I responded because they have power over our reputation but we were thinking the same thing about her.

The next day, I went to a coffee shop to get some work done and I couldn’t help but overhear this random girl complain about her future MIL. She said that she had to put her in her place because she was getting too comfortable and acting entitled to her time. The next topic of the conversation was about how this same MIL was paying for the private jet for their destination wedding.

Lol I just don’t have the patience to deal with a lot of these people. Sometimes I can’t stand to be around them.

I’m generally unbothered by what people say when they’re complaining about experiences most people would feel lucky to experience even once in their lifetime. They’re really just signaling their status of wealth when they complain like this whether it’s being done subconsciously or consciously. Take a look at Mazlow’s hierarchy of needs. When your basic needs are met and people don’t have something real to complain about, they start looking for other things to complain about naturally. The only way a person with wealth can stay grounded or “in touch with reality” is if they don’t spend the wealth they have and live the same lifestyle as the average person. I’m also no better than the people who are out of touch with reality. Most of the things in my life are automated or done by other people. I really don’t have the same things to complain about that I once did so I catch myself at times complaining about silly insignificant things (or problems other people wish they had).

I 100% understand your POV. It’s really just up to you if you’re going to let it bother you or not.

October 5: In the hot-as-hell weather, I unwisely bought wax candles and metal or stone jewelry. I promised myself I would only buy what could fit in my bag or what wouldn’t get wrecked from the heat, so I just tried to jam the heat-sensitive items in my bag, away from the sun.

Most of it fit! I got a shop bag for the candle care kit, but then the jar candle started sweating inside my regular bag. Eek. I was damn lucky that it was on top of the candle dish, which was also wrapped in paper. Maybe I have an excuse to get belt pouches now, lol.

I probably made another unwise decision by buying a statue of NORSE MYTHOLOGY LOKI and not Marvel Loki, but there were these two adorable girls who spotted him and went “It’s Loki, my boy! …Asterisk!” Which clearly referred to Marvel-Loki being genderfluid, and it tickled me.

If you don’t hear from me next week, or if you hear TOO much from me, you know a statue of Loki is crashing at my place. Send help and/or a statue of Thor, so he can reenact the Lokasenna.

My smartest decision today was NOT buying a Norse drinking horn, even though they were super nice. I can barely afford normal amounts of alcohol—I will have no opportunities to use a Viking horn, that you traditionally had to pass around for everyone to get a drink. In Covid times, I don’t think anyone should share drinks from the actual horn, but I’d definitely pour out drinks. If I’m ever rich enough to buy any kind of keg or pay for a bar crawl, I’m getting a drinking horn to celebrate SOMEONE’S birthday. 😆

So I’m eating spaghetti now and not hangry anymore. Here is why getting a pound of ground beef was way too exciting for me.

Last night: Came home from the Witchfest and started cooking spaghetti, only to find that the now-thawed ground beef was too old and gray for me to risk using it for the sauce.

Sighed, ate something else, tossed the meat in the trash, and put everything in the fridge. Made a note to get more ground beef before lunch.

This morning: Took the trash out and the bag leaked meat juice on the floor!!! Wiped it up fine and double bagged the trash, but I did not need that smell. 🤮

Went to the nearest store: Someone was warning customers that the credit card systems were down and it’s cash only for now. Checked my wallet and bag, no cash. Said bye to the employee, headed out. Ugh.

On the way to the next store: A fire truck starts blasting their alarm and no less than two Volkswagen Beetles look genuinely TRASHED, like they were used for Mad Max. One was beat up and covered in dust, and the other had no trunk door.

Next store: Parked asap, headed for the meat section, stashed my keys in a back pocket, and THEN found five dollars hiding out. With meat prices right now, I wouldn’t have been able to buy anything with it, but I feel like SOMEONE up there was laughing at me, hint-hint.

While I’m waiting in line to buy this damn beef, the shoplifting alarm goes off twice. It’s sorted out quickly, but at this point I am getting wigged out, and I just wanted the damn spaghetti sauce to get finished.

At 5:30pm: Me and my sister were headed to the hardware store and there was a DAMN FALLEN BRANCH lying in the road a block away. It was a huge widowmaker across the whole lane, and everyone had to drive around it. Loki is now on probation while I make a proper containment bag.

Spirit-world/headspace wise, Loki was just cackling nonstop until I actually got fed up and rolled his statue up. He is confused that I was serious about Mjollnir and went, "Hey! Heyheyheyhey! Bro, I'm not trying to hurt YOU!" and the other spirits are like "Loki, that is not how things work. 😔 "

This seems to have literally "contained" the part of him responsible for "Things Happening WAY too close to me," because now he's just asking me to pleassssssssse let him outttttt.

I told him I'd let him out next Monday at the latest, and I might let him out earlier if he stays... NEUTRAL??? Like, I know he won't necessarily "behave" because he's a damn trickster, but he has to 1) avoid serious physical danger, and 2) try not to affect my family's finances.

And like, I assured him that I'd still FEED HIM until he was out. Because, you know... he seems genuinely distressed that I'm "locking him up," and he is specifically saying "Come onnnnnnn, Cyborg, let me out! I can't get you the good Marvel deals if I'm stuck in this dumbass shit!"

The other spirits are just constantly repeating to him about WHY he's rolled up in a Mjollnir joint. Even Sigyn came up while he was yelling, and she just sighed and went "Loki, what did you do now?"

Brighid is upset that I'm feeding him since 1) he's a god and (mostly) immortal, and 2) even if he needed food, it's not like he'd go hungry from LACK of followers like the Filipino spirits.

And I went, "Brighid, it's the PRINCIPLE of giving him basic necessities. I don't want to imprison him completely or banish him--I'd just prefer at least my BASELINE bad luck for when my mom gets home, and after I've had a couple of decent work-days."

i have medical trauma about things being wrong every time i go in about a minor issue but!! it's always correct!!! and she's telling me i need to have some long procedure i'm going to be awake for so i started crying since that happened to me when i got diagnosed with cancer during a routine visit and the local anesthetic wore off multiple times so i was just sitting there crying while they did surgery on me

and then i go to the front desk to pay and she's like well we can't give you an estimate for the surgery since it's an outside referral but the mandatory follow up appt here will be $1900!!!! hehe! here's a credit card you can sign up for to help offset the cost, it's specifically designed for medical procedures because our country is so fucking evil and shitty that there's private lending companies who make credit cards to take advantage of your situation!

Alright, update on the tablet situation, I do NOT have good news but there are some silver linings.

First off, thank you all so much for your patience. That one week I took off to relax seemed to be an invitation for the universe to fuck with my shit because my tablet literally chose the worst time to get on my nerves ( This is totally not something I'm gonna bring up with my therapist as proof that I'm not allowed to rest /s) I've tried just about everything to get it working again, I got a replacement 3-in-1 cable and even that didn't do anything, so I've ordered in a new pen, but that's not due to show up for another week or two.

However, I do not want to wait a week or two on the off chance that a new pen even solves the problem.

So the GOOD NEWS in all this is that I do still have my iPad. It wasn't setup with Clip Studio Paint because I own a perpetual license for my PC, but seeing as how now I can't use it on my PC (at least not with my tablet pen) I've gone ahead and setup the mobile version on my tablet, thankfully I got a discount because I already own a perpetual license but it's still gonna cost me $10/month so that's yet another subscription to slap on the 'ole credit card.

Now that does mean I have to go through the painstaking efforts of moving everything from my PC onto my tablet, but thankfully that issue is easily solved with cloud backups and transferring. Really all I need to be able to do is draw, I can still do speech bubbles and text input and texture overlays and all that post-production stuff on my PC, but anything that requires actual drawing I'm gonna be using my iPad for. So please, don't mind if you notice some weird little art differences between Episode 30 and 29, I'm adjusting to a new workflow! It shouldn't be too bad because I'll still be using the exact same brushes and textures and all that fun stuff that I do on my PC, it just comes with the adjustment of drawing primarily on iPad, which I don't normally do (I usually only draw on my iPad for tattooing and that's in Procreate which I still suck at using outside of lineart LMAO)

This is a very stressful situation that I'm hoping will only be temporary until I get that new tablet pen, and if THAT doesn't solve the issue, then I'm gonna have to start shopping for a new tablet entirely, and that's not something I can do immediately because I'm already starting to struggle financially due to the slow season creeping in at work and I'm still paying off that new PC I put down on layaway (which I'm regretting already). All that said, if you want to help a pal out, please consider tossing a dollar or two at me on my Ko-Fi, it's all gonna go towards a new drawing tablet if I need it (and if the pen solves the issue, then you'll be helping me stay afloat so I can keep bringing you guys the good shit LOL)

What's wild is that in all my Google searching, I found a thread from two months ago with literally the EXACT same issue, under the exact same conditions, in which OP's tablet pen unexpectedly stopped registering with their Huion Kamvas 22 Plus that they had owned for two years. According to them, it did start working again, after resetting the PC and re-installing the driver over and over again, but I've already done that myself a ton of times and I'm tired of being let down and that doesn't seem like a "real" solution beyond luck, so I'm gonna take a break from doing that while I get my iPad set up. I have the sneaking suspicion this might have to do with some recent Windows updates that just rolled out, my PC had definitely gone through a couple leading up to the malfunction. This wouldn't be the first time Microsoft has fucked with my tablet functionality so I literally wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that. Either that, or the '2' in Kamvas 22 stands for "will only last for 2 years before stopping entirely" LOL

I'm a trans, queer, and multi-disabled arts worker struggling to pay for life while I wait for the healthcare system to kick in and recognize my disability. I've got suspected hEDS, and also AuDHD. I have maxed out my $3500CAD credit card on the frugalities of groceries, gas and medications, and provincial supports only give me $900. 58% of that goes towards my rent, and I cannot catch up on this debt because of these funds.

anyways im super close to a panic attack rn we had bills come in from my dermatologist (which i have a followup appt tuesday. lol) that are way more than we thought they were going to be and we're also 7k in credit card debt (WHICH IS JUST COST OF LIVING. COST OF LIVING!!) which we will never ever fucking pay off we barely do the minimum payments every month we support 4 people on two incomes that make maybe 40k a year and im just. we'ee living paycheck to paycheck whatdo i do. fuck. first instinct is i want to die. being faint and fucking exhausted because of my goddamn period is also not helping hahaha. its still going way too strong for me to be confortable. i want to cry but i have work in 10 minutss

Like, "do you want to sign up for 30% off today? There's a 5% cash back!" and then they have questions a lot, and a lot of your script is true, but i rarely get asked if I have it.

I do offer that information though when people say they don't use credit cards because it's too risky. My answer is nearly always "I hear you, I have the same personal policy. It's just not worth it." Which I probably shouldn't say on the job, but ah well, they don't pay me enough for me to push policies I don't agree with.

So, I had no idea this was a thing, but I requested a credit line increase on 2 cards I've basically paid off - and was denied. They said the reason why was because I don't use the cards enough? I had no idea how much you use/don't use your card can affect whether or not you can get a credit line increase!

Here I was, thinking they would surely give me one, because I've almost paid the cards off, only for them to say no because I've only been paying the cards off and not using them otherwise, lol. Oh well, both ways help the credit score!

I always recommend using credit cards for automated monthly payments that you're spending anyway like your Netflix account (and paying it off every month) because it shows regular use even if you're making aggressive payments on your debt. So you could start doing that if you want that increase!

I apply for credit line increases every time my income goes up. And I've only been denied a couple times. So keep asking! They might change their minds.

But you're right--paying down the debt will help your score too!
