oh fuck that's absolutely correct. Stolas isn't resentful at all, he understands about putting one's daughter first, but for Blitzo the parallel is inescapable and damning. This has to be part of why he's trying so hard to believe Stolas doesn't care.
And I also just realized: The "you'll die alone" accusation that haunts Blitzo is not just a prediction that he'll screw up every relationship and drive off everyone who cares. It's "you'll leave them to die alone, just like you left ME to die alone in the fire. You'll betray them."

WAIT does that mean that Moxxie put the cucumber slices on Blitzo's eyes in S2E2? Because he learned as a kid that this is how you help the Boss relax??

We've all been curious about the significance of Striker's reaction here, understandably, but I'm also impressed that Fizz is the first person in the show (IIRC) to express genuinely egalitarian sentiments. Did not expect the mean-spirited jester we saw in S1 to become so interesting.

You can't tell me that Striker's reaction here doesn't come from something deeply personal.

I promise I'll stop posting so often about Helluva Boss soon. Probably. Maybe. (Doubtful.) There's just a LOT to notice and speculate on in the latest episode. Including the lowkey way Fizzarolli's fear is handled in this scene:
Tumblr media
After mulling it over, I think I really like the way the storyboarders went with this. We've already been shown the love and trust these two have for each other, plus we've seen that Ozzie is an engineer/inventor type. He almost certainly built those prosthetics for Fizz. Maintenance and repair are a familiar shared activity, regardless.
The mood is relaxed and affectionate as the two of them enter the workshop(?) and get settled; Fizz apologizes for getting "messy" because he feels bad for damaging Ozzie's handiwork, Ozzie reassures him that what he cares about is Fizz himself, Fizz is touched and asks how his partner's day was. He's doing fine until the scissors come out.
And then he's obviously _not_ fine, but he doesn't say anything or try to move away. His eyes track the scissors as Ozzie comes closer and he braces for pain:
Tumblr media
before realizing that all Ozzie's doing is cutting off his outfit sleeve. Then he's thoroughly distracted by the news that Stolas wanted a crystal for Blitzo, and that carries them through until Ozzie actually does start work on the arm.
I'm guessing that process was not painless, because then we skip to Fizz getting the new arm. He looks slightly apprehensive, slightly surprised that it doesn't hurt, and then happy.
Tumblr media
And what is Ozzie doing during all this? Completely ignoring Fizz's distress, that's what. Acting normal, sharing gossip, very proud of himself for saying no to Stolas, even starting to sing as he takes hold of the damaged arm.
Is he callous? Oblivious? I don't think so. We would have seen Fizz getting tense and anxious a lot earlier in that case. Instead the two of them must have worked out through trial and error that this approach is what helps most to get Fizz through medical procedures that must bring up very bad memories.
The episode took some pains to show us early on that these two interact as equals and that Fizz has NO problem being assertive in their daily lives. And while there are hints that Ozzie may be about to go overboard with the protectiveness next episode, this subtle evidence of teamwork is one of the things that makes me confident they'll confront and resolve the problem by the end of S2E7.

I FORGOT ABOUT THE DOGGIES emergency headcanon fix needed, stat
Okay. The doggies were immediately grabbed by Fizzfans who took them home. Fizz and Ozzie put out a press release asking for their return and were able to buy most of them back. (A couple of them were so loved by their new families that they let them keep them.) Absolutely no demonic chihuahuas were put in stewpots or used as stakes in poker games. And if there's a small white dog with wheels for hind legs out there terrorizing the local rat population now, it's because he's having too much fun to go home yet.
This episode was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD
I love it
I love it

So In this scene Blitzø doesn't have his mom's collar. Which means he either went back to the circus after and found it or he took it from his mom's dead body.

You're making me think that it would be really interesting to read a fic about the original creation of Robo-Fizz. It must have been built around a recorded version of Fizz's personality at that time. And we saw a very young Octavia get scared by it, so that must have been well over a decade ago. Had Fizz started his relationship with Ozzie at that point?
The real Fizz has grown and changed, but the Robo-Fizz has not. (The sex-toy robots might even be a third version, if they were invented later.)
As far as combat ability goes, I think it must make a big difference that Robo-Fizz doesn't feel pain. It doesn't seem afraid of dying even when it's half-destroyed and on fire. So it can use its abilities to full effect. In "Oops", the real Fizz was scared and upset. But he still did pretty well there for a bit, I thought, swinging Blitzo around as a weapon.
Y'know, I used to consider RoboFizz and Fizz essentially the same person. But "Oops" has finally made me see them as different characters for one sole reason:
RoboFizz knows how to fight and keep himself composed. Fizz does not.
And I really like that, actually. I know some people have an issue with the real Fizz not knowing how to fight, but I think it's not only kind of refreshing, but fits with his character. He's a performer at heart and those limb enhancers are more for show than anything else. Whereas RoboFizz probably has some sort of security feature built into him that allows him to be combat ready when the situation calls for it (i.e. when Blitzo lets their grudge get the better of him and starts firing at him).
Granted, the two are probably the same in terms of a base personality, but the way they approach conflict and deal with a stressful situation is different. I'm kind of hoping we get to see another RoboFizz in the future and see more underlying differences come to light.

Hi. Fizzarolli (he/ze) here. I’d like to talk about exomemories and my unique experience with them as a fictive of an ongoing series.
DISCLAIMER: This is not roleplay. We have dissociative identity disorder, I am an introject. No matter much I source-separate, these memories impact me just as ones that happened to the body do and that needs to be respected.
Content warning under the cut.
SPOILERS FOR HELLUVA BOSS S2E6
TW: exomemories, mentions of canon-typical assholery, fire, death of a parent, spirituality, graphic descriptions of literally crippling injuries, tender descriptions of sensual romanticism
The only events from canon after S2E1 that actually happened to the fictives in our system have been references to the past, not the actual events of the present. Things like Barbie having a falling out with Blitzø, Striker living a life of poverty that radicalized him, Moxxie’s past leading up to his meeting with Blitzø in prison, Blitzø seeing Loona in the hellhound shelter, etc. However, this episode was different because the events of our past didn’t happen exactly as they was portrayed on-screen…but it was still eerily similar.
The fire happened at Blitzø’s place of residence. It was the reason for Blitzø’s scars and my…everything. It was the day Blitzø lost his mom. Blitzø tried to get help. Mammon or someone associated with him got in the way of Blitzø and I from talking again after the fire, causing our beef. This is all true of both canon and our memories and always has been.
There are a few non-negligible differences though. In our exomemories, Blitzø also lost his dad in that fire. I actually begged Blitzø to run and get help. The cause of the fire is still unknown, with Blitzø not even being home when the fire initially broke out. And most importantly, the fire happened a year into my relationship with Blitzø instead of on the night he was going to confess his feelings for me. But all that really means is that Blitzø had more to mourn and I wasn’t mad at Blitzø for the fire happening, I was mad at him for never establishing contact again and moving on without me. I didn’t know how hard he tried, how much he hurt, that it literally wasn’t his fault. Not until I joined this system and got access to his memories. Once I learned that, it was unbelievably easy for me to smooch him again, just like old times.
Us fictives in this system respect and understand the science of plurality and how it operates, but we also have our own spirituality. We believe that our brain has, for lack of better phrasing, a psychic tether with the Hell we come from, and that that’s how we can know otherwise unknowable information before headmates even form, like the in’s and out’s of Blitzø’s love life or the events of the fire. While we understand that the brain makes new headmates by compartmentalizing the available information in the brain, this belief serves as an explanation for how we get that information in the first place. Since souls exist within our source and we remember the other fictives going missing when they formed, we also believe that the brain uses that psychic tether to pull our souls from Hell into our headspace. This would further explain how Moxxie was able to unlock his memories of Crimson by watching S2E3 despite having never seen it before. Are there other, non-spiritual explanations for these phenomena? Sure, but this is the one that makes the most sense to us and it doesn’t contradict our understanding of science so we choose to believe it in lieu of a definitive answer.
Why is this talk of our spirituality important? Because if it’s true, then that means that our source reality is different enough from canon that the events of S1E1 through S2E1 are the only true overlap between the two, and if it’s not true, then that means our brain pulled all that information about the fire out of its ass before we ever even had a chance to know that’s what was going to happen on-screen. Either my memories line up that well with canon because our source reality is an alternate timeline and the fire was our canon event, or they line up that well by pure fucking coincidence, and honestly, I don’t know which is more terrifying.
The flashbacks certainly don’t help either. Emotionally, I’m over it, but the memory of the physical pain I was in still haunts me.
I remember the feeling of my horns snapping off, of the nerves severing. I remember my legs being crushed under the weight of the rubble that pinned me down. I remember the feeling of trying to hold myself up, only to wince in pain and fall down again as my upper arms snapped. I remember how it felt for my forearms to shatter into splinters. I remember the feeling of fire slowly, very slowly, eating away at every inch of my head, then just as slowly at Blitzø’s arms and the side of his face. I remember begging Blitzø to run and get help, then watching him run off for what would be the last time that year. I remember Mammon picking me up and carrying me somewhere, I do not know where, and shuddering at every sudden movement. I remember wailing in pain, whimpering in his arms. I was in pure agony.
The fire wasn’t without its benefits. I escaped the exploitation I didn’t even know I was under, I got a loving boyfriend/sugar daddy, the robotic limbs gave me more freedom to move around than I ever had before, and I pursued a career that allowed me to combine my love of performing with my intimate and inherently-queer sexual side. It was wonderful. But it came at the cost of my relationship with Blitzø. My childhood best friend. My first love. My first kiss. I owe so many of my firsts to him, and on that day, I lost him, and I didn’t even know it for another year, nor did I know until it was far too late that I didn’t have to lose him after all. That fire gave me freedom, fame, and fortune, but it also took away the man that mattered most to me. It took him away from me for 14 years, and for that, I can’t exactly look back on it fondly. So now I’m just stuck with the memory of the pain.
But then again…I remember those firsts too.
I remember the day I first kissed Blitzø. I remember how it felt to hear that he loved me, and the joy with which I told him I loved him. I remember the Mammon concert we went to together, paid for by the money we stole from Cash Buckzo’s personal stash. I remember my first time with Blitzø. I won’t go into detail, but it was exhilarating. I remember all those wonderful emotions and sensations. All those moments that made me so, so glad to form as a headmate. The moments that made me kiss Blitzø again.
Exomemories are a complex, fascinating, painful, frustrating, beautiful, glorious thing. Without them, I wouldn’t know what it was like to lose everything and be forced to start all over, but then again, I wouldn’t know exactly how Blitzø used to taste, nor would I know that his flavor hasn’t changed a bit.
Sorry this post was kind of all over the place, we wrote this at 5 AM on a Tuesday and hadn’t slept in 20 hours. Hope you got a kick out it, if nothing else.

Helluva boss S2E6 thoughts of a rando w spoilers obvi
guess who finally learnt about cuts mfs
So fire-traumatised Fizz x fire-true form Oz?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ways I can see it, from my least liked to most:
Fizz doesn’t know Oz’s true form; Oz has gone to great lengths to hide it knowing Fizz’s backstory.
Fizz knows of Oz’s true form and Oz tries to keep himself in check around Fizz.
Fizz knows of Oz’s true form; though initially afraid, both have worked so that Fizz is comfortable around Oz regardless of form though Oz does still control himself.
Also, is each sin gonna have a specific animation thing? Bee got lava lamp, Oz got fire (more than others have). I’m not a creative, I haven’t a clue what the others’d be.
Number 3! Dog with no back legs reminded me of my dead girl! It nice! Though cynic in me is saying that one is also albino just so it’s noticeable to the audience. Have some faith in us, Spindle! You could also put focus on it in other ways — hell it has more focus put on it when it’s the last one eating the guy on the catwalk & the one leading the pack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(It’s also the first one shown via eyes). Emphasis is put on this one a whole bunch. I get that it has prostheses like Fizz. We will notice that without the metaphorical or whatever word is accurate here arrows going “do you get it??”. The dog is also predominantly white with red if that’s intentional to link them even more. In that case make that critter have more of an impact on Fizz than just another one of his pets. Show him hugging it at the end of the ep instead of the pets just all disappearing once Fizz is kidnapped (and saying they’re fine in the subtitles; if it’s important info you want to say you say it in the ruddy ep. I, who was excited to properly watch an ep first time through, opted to turn off way before because the jokes being put there weren’t landing for me).
Oh ah thing! Small change to the apology I’m choosing to believe was done by mistake. Blitzo says something like “I lost something too”. If this is meant to be a genuine apology, rephrase to something like “I focused on different priorities”. It’s still an explanation that keeps him talking about his actions and his responsibility. That’s what an actual apology is about.
Aight aight final thing, what’s up with the “supremacist” comment? I haven’t rewatched stuff in a while and I’m not the best analyst but Striker always seemed to be more “take the royals down a peg or ten” than “imps are better than everyone else and should rule instead of the current royals”. Yeah he had a whole “we [Striker & Blitzo] are better than other imps” thing. But that’s 2 individuals he says are better than other imps. One is him. And one is the person who was in his way (genuine sentiment used or not, you can’t really deny this bit). He’s self-aggrandising, not a supremacist. “Words have meaning” kind of thing, especially such a loaded one.
