My Peak TV Journey *Fisk*
I have enjoyed watching this lovely sitcom from Australia. It’s about a lawyer named Helen Tudor-Fisk, who after a divorce leaves her life behind, relocates to Melbourne and switches her specialty from corporate to wills and probate in a firm called Gruber and Associates created
a brother (Ray) and sister (Roz) firm. This is clearly a is small, personal place and Fisk is coming from the impersonal corporate world. She thrived there. At least that’s the backstory I’ve come up with. The show doesn’t dwell on the past. I wonder if it’s an Australian thing. I think an American version would have much more about the work culture she came from before the start of her divorce and how that led to her firing.
The first episodes the series involves having to let the the daughter of a deceased client know that a codicil was illegal and unenforceable. The codicil wanted to insist that the deceased’s son get a vasectomy before receiving his inheritance, which was apparently supposed and rejected in life because he thought it would interfere with his career as a “penis painter” a person who paints portraits with his penis. The son is so grateful that he makes several paintings for the office, including of the Gruber siblings which are kept in the reception. They are sight gags that get funnier just for sticking around.
During the second season at some point Helen says, “When have I ever had a fit?” And that sort of sums up the show. It means she frequently buts heads with people but thinks they are having bigger reactions than she even though they are all outraged that she doesn’t cave. This is especially evident in her interactions with Roz and whoever is working in the downstairs drinks place. (In the first season it is a coffee place and the second it is blended drinks place.)
it’s fun, I especially like her relationship with the office administrator, George. They don’t get each other, but in a respectful distance kind of way.

26 and 9 for your ask game, please 💜? It's really original and cool!
ah thank you for saying so! my zany ideas are sometimes good. and thanks for asking, i do love talking about Seojung :)
[9.] What is your MC’s favorite fictional television/film character?
Hm.. that's hard. I haven't thought about this. Admittedly, Seojung is pretty much me in a different font, so I would say at the moment his (& my) favorite character is Helen Tudor-Fisk, the main character of the amazing, award-winning Australian comedy FISK. I adore the actor, Kitty Flanagan, who plays Helen. She's such a delight. Evidence:

[26.] Do they believe in the concept of soulmates?
Not in the Theosophical way, but he does think that there is someone he will grow old with, have a very close and intimate relationship with. He hates the idea of "missing a piece" that is fulfilled by another person. We are all our own, fully developed persons without anyone. Like a sock! It's nice to have a companion and be a pair, but one sock can function completely fine on its own as well.
