I started to callous in all my soft spots. I began to become a version of myself I recognized in the faces of my past. So I began again. Went back to basics. Started with questions and tried for understanding. I don't want to be hard and cynical. I want to be soft and compassionate. I'm starting over again. Letting the lime eat my callouses and the sun kiss my skin. Letting my soul speak to my lovers through action and warmth. Continue my healing no matter how much it makes me want to turn inward. I will start again and again and again if I have to. But I will never give up.

Character Analysis: Rio Vidal
(because Aubrey Plaza currently has a chokehold on my psyche)
It hasn't been confirmed on the show, but we all know that Rio is Death, correct? They're not even being subtle about it, so I'm gonna take it from that angle.
Okay, so Rio is ageless. She prefers to take the form of Aubrey Plaza because Aubrey is a hot motherfucker. Agreed? Okay.
I have no idea when she would have come into existence, only because I have no idea the nature of Death in this universe. Is she one of many deaths? She must be, because people die all over and she has enough free time to build this hate/love relationship with Agatha, whom she finds the second the Darkhold stops hiding her.
I think she may specifically be Death for witches. She ferries magical humans to the other side, and has done since magic was first invented.
She was never a child, never a newborn. She was fully grown and cognizant from her inception, born knowing what her job was for her entire life. She existed in ancient times, seen by many mortals as different gods/goddesses. She took the shapes they'd already imagined her to have. She was Anubis, Hades, Shinigami, Osiris, Hecate, Charon...whom were all different entities, but she took their forms to bring comfort to the recently departed.
I feel like Rio had a lot of empathy for the first thousand or so years of doing this job. She listened to life stories as she ferried magical beings to their next journeys. She learned about society, about expectations, about why one might choose not to stay on the mortal coil, or why one might be taken from it by force.
She comforted the ones reticent to leave their physical bodies. She held the hands of too many young witches, taken too soon because of the fear that surrounded them. That's who she had the most empathy for: young, misunderstood witches.
Her empathy fades as humanity progresses. Witches are still persecuted, but many of them get on her nerves. They think so highly of themselves. They think they Death owes them something, that they deserve a second chance at life.
Nobody gets a second chance at life.
And while it's her job, she starts to kind of resent it. The spirits that won't leave piss her off. They disturb the living as often as they can and Rio gets blamed for it. This is why she hates ghosts.
But there's nothing she can do.
And then she meets Agatha. Agatha who is young and powerful and so scared when they first meet. Agatha, who has just caused the deaths of her entire coven. Agatha, who didn't mean to cause so much destruction; she just needs to be properly taught.
So Rio teaches her. I think they would have this kind of relationship where Rio fosters Agatha's talents, where she takes Agatha to places where she can be as destructive with her magic as she wants and nobody will judge or demonize her. And every time Agatha masters a spell or gives Rio that super proud smile, Rio falls a little more in love with her.
She revitalizes Rio's love for her job. And it's not like it's Agatha's fault that other witches keep attacking her. And it's not like she can truly control that siphoning thing every time it happens. It just is what it is.
Agatha feels bad the first time it happens, too. But then she takes on Rio's logic of "well, they shouldn't have done that then," and all is well.
Agatha is alive and safe and Rio gets more bodies to ferry, more work. She actually really loves her work, especially because it means she gets to spend more time with Agatha, who just can't stop getting attacked for some reason...
There are rules to her job, of course.
First and most important rule: Death cannot kill. It is a conflict of interest. It wouldn't be very fair to give herself more bodies to ferry. Soon enough, there would be none left. In theory, at least. It's like insider trading, in a way.
Another one: Death cannot bring back life to one who has died. That is also not fair, and it's actually not even something she can do. She isn't Life; she's Death.
And: Death must ferry souls as soon as possible to the other life. Souls that linger too long become ghosts and it gets harder for them to cross over. It's considered a failure on her part when a Spirit becomes a Ghost.
She regrets ferrying Nicholas. That was her son, too. I will entertain no other theories. She loved that kid. She was just as much his mother as Agatha was. She knew how much it would hurt Agatha, but she also knew that she couldn't allow Nicky to become a ghost. It would be a torturous existence for them both. And if Agatha had her way and reanimated his body, forcing his soul to remain there, it would be so much worse.
It is her biggest regret and the only scar she has.
She doesn't have to lick wounds to heal them. That's just something she does for Agatha. Agatha either doesn't know this or doesn't fight it. I cannot even decide which one is funnier.
Rio is more than her job, though.
She is also a bottom.
Only for Agatha.
Moving on.
When Agatha uses the Darkhold to disappear, whatever beacon spell they'd had on each other since practically the beginning of their courtship is interrupted. She cannot find Agatha. She cannot even see Agatha, not even if she was two inches from her own face. Agatha makes it so they never run into each other, no matter whom she kills.
And then Wanda gets the Darkhold and it's like a fire alarm blaring in Rio's ear. She goes immediately to Agatha's side.
Yes, immediately. You know that was not a three-season delusion that Wanda put her under. "Agnes" had many, many different TV shows running through the spellbound mind. She just wasn't broken out of it until Teen got there.
Herb was so nonchalant about her little "true crime bug" that there had to have been several different medical series, soap operas, firefighter shows, other cop shows, comedies, home improvement shows, reality shows (The Real Housewives of West View?), and a mockumentary or two that came before it.
And Rio was a guest star in all of them, willing Agatha to just wake up. But Agatha didn't recognize her. She just knew that she hated her, in every single mind show. She just hated Rio Vidal.
And Rio was just in a hell of her own making, trying desperately to break Agatha out but not knowing how.
She loves this woman so much. All the threats to kill her and telling others where to find her? Foreplay. I can totally see them trolling each other as they ran around New England, pointing fingers at one another, calling out "Witch!" and snickering as the torches are lit.
Their sex breaks down houses. They have done it in a grave. Rio attempts to murder Agatha at least twice a day at their peak; it's called flirting, Jennifer.
Agatha, obviously knowing that Rio can't actually kill her (and she cannot kill Rio for obvious reasons), feels safest when she's around. Because Rio defends her. She knows the things that Agatha has done and she loves her (not in spite of them, but sort of because of them. Girl's a freak.) anyway.
And Rio hates her mother-in-law, Evanora, with a passion. She definitely has a list of people she hates from all the souls she's had to ferry. A lot of white Puritan men are on that list for their role in the Salem Witch trials. But Evanora is #1 on that list. It's on sight for that bitch.
And I think that makes Agatha soft for Rio. Because nobody has ever defended her against her mother, for her whole childhood. Nobody except Rio.
Which is why Agatha is definitely the one who proposed.
It was a mundane kind of day. Her powers had just killed another coven. Before they attacked, however, one of the witches called Agatha a "Witch-Killer" and said that her mother had always been right about her. She'd heard of how evil Agatha was as a child and this just proved it.
Rio's hands had glowed green and as she took the woman by the throat, slamming her against a tree, screaming at her, telling her about how the true evil was the woman who hated her own child so much as to plan a whole execution after abusing her for her entire childhood. How Agatha was a survivor and so much more powerful than her mother could ever hope to be. And that witches like her had to wake up to it and--then the witch blasted Agatha and it was all over.
Rio huffed as she dropped the empty husk of a body, glaring at the spirit as it floated above it.
"That was your own fault," she said. "If you had just listened to me, none of this would have happened."
The witch just glared and Rio rolled her eyes, collecting the souls of the other witches who had attacked Agatha along with this dumb with.
"I'll be right back," she promised Agatha, who was still thrumming with magic.
"Marry me!" Agatha said as Rio disappeared.
She was halfway through with the job when the words registered in her mind. She got them across in record time, returning to find Agatha on her knees, waiting for her, a purple ring of something she'd made from magic. She was smiling up at Rio, tears in her eyes.
"What did you say?" Rio asked, her heart pounding.
"Marry me," Agatha repeated, her voice tight. "Rio Vidal, will you marry me?"
"Yes!" Rio dropped to her knees and tackled Agatha to the ground, raining kisses down on her while Agatha laughed.
And then they got married and lived happily for a century or two, until they had a son. I have no idea how Nicholas came to be. I have no idea why he is a Scratch rather than a Harkness or a Vidal. But I know he had two mommies who loved him more than anything. Rio probably never thought that she could be a wife to anybody, let alone a full mother, but she loved that boy. And she loves Agatha.
Rio has a big heart and she's a bit intense, but we love that for her.

Can I get headcanons of Raven,Zoya and Hella(platonic) reacting to fem cheif acting nochalant to Hella calling her mom
(coughs) I'm alive! Here's your request and thank you for your patience.
Raven, Zoya and Hella reacting to f!Chief reacting nonchalantly to being called “mom” by Hella
Raven
Honestly? Raven’s first reaction is to laugh. Really, really hard. It’s funny to her.
When her giggles fade away, though, she’s all smiles and sparkles, as Raven tends to be.
“Aw, isn’t that adorable, Chief? Looks like you’ve got a chick all of your own, now!” She will keep making comments like this, and god knows that neither Chief nor Hella will be able to stop her.
As something of a mom herself, not to mention a teacher, Raven likes to give Chief “parenting tips” from then on out. Some of them are a little silly. Some are things that Chief already knew. And other things are complete godsends that Chief has no idea what she’d do without.
Also, if she wasn’t inspired to write parenting help books before, she is now. As with most of Raven’s self-published textbooks, they fall into the category of “surprisingly useful but lacking in professionalism.” Still, Raven’s advice certainly won’t hurt a child… but Chief nevertheless figures it’s best not to mention how helpful the book actually is.
Raven also definitely drags Chief into chats about their kids. She’s a proud mama bird and will brag about Crache and her achievements until the cows come home. Naturally, she’s also incredibly supportive and proud of Hella, too – she’s her teacher, after all!
She will also absolutely prod Chief into accepting the title of “mother” to other kids in the Bureau. Hecate, Oliver, Dolly, OwO, Yanyan, Lynn, you name it and she’s already assigned the role of “Chief’s kid” to them. Good thing Chief had pretty much already accepted that role!
She also makes jokes that Chief can be Crache’s stepmom from time to time. Crache hates it. Raven’s kids, when they find out, won’t shut up about it. It definitely fuels the Raven x Chief gossip train that’s going on in her class.
Zoya
After the shock fades, the first thing Zoya feels is… warmth. She feels warm and fuzzy inside.
At first she has absolutely no idea why she’s feeling like this, and it baffles her. Okay, Chief didn’t care that Hella called her mom, that’s cool, why is it making her feel all weird inside?
It takes a few days for it to click with Zoya that what she’s feeling is affection. Seeing the Chief be accepted into a maternal role, caring for a young Sinner, made Zoya feel affectionate towards her.
Okay, great, she figured out what the weird feeling was, but Zoya still doesn’t understand the why. She thinks to her own life as a point of reference. Sure, Horo looks up to her as a role model, but Zoya always saw herself as a big sister/mentor figure to her, not so much a mother.
The answer, when it finally comes to her after another few days of dwelling on it, hits her like a bolt of lightning. It completely freezes her in her tracks as she tries to process the realization she just had: she felt affection because the Chief behaving motherly towards Hella? She found it cute.
Frankly, this realization opens a whole can of worms that Zoya is not emotionally equipped to face right now, so she seals that can right back up. But some things can never be fully repaired to the way they once were, and well, Zoya tries to comfort herself by thinking that surely she isn’t the only person who thinks of the Chief in such a manner. Surely.
Hella
Hella is, in a word, mortified. It was embarrassing enough that she’d accidentally called Chief mom, and it was even more embarrassing that Chief had accepted it so easily!
She still tries to play it off as an accident or a joke, though. She would rather the ground open up and swallow her than be seen as Chief’s daughter for real! Besides, she’s a proud, independent Syndican who relies on herself. She doesn’t need a mother!
…And yet… there is that tiny part of her, that part of her that made the slip-up in the first place. The part that she hates. That part of her that is still a terrified little girl, who wants nothing more than the comfort of a maternal figure. No matter what Hella tries, she can’t fully deny that that part of her exists.
…but Ninety-Nine is the only family she needs, so the idea that Chief is a mother to her is ridiculous, and anyone who ever believed that crap is stupid!
But… the slip-ups happen more and more often, and each time, Chief takes it in stride. Every time, it makes Hella burn with embarrassment, but as time goes on, she begins to realize that… hey, this isn’t so bad.
Of course, she still has her pride. She’ll never openly admit to see the Chief as a mother in a public setting. But in private… Well, maybe then it’s okay to willingly call the Chief “mom,” and to cling to her for comfort after a nightmare and to otherwise be vulnerable around her.
Of course, she still makes sure that Chief knows that if she leaks a word of this to anyone, she’ll bash her stupid skull in! (The whole Bureau knows anyway, but not because of Chief, and they’ll feign innocent for the sake of keeping her skull whole and un-smashed.)

while I'm still kind of eh on the book as a whole, I do like that the halloween party didn't end up screwing them over, instead it saved them. I'm glad they had already screwed up earlier and spent most of the book trying to find Hecuba and Gale. Because if say during the party, someone left the door open and the pets got lost or something dumb like that, it would have felt incredibly contrived. Like Rick glued the idiot ball to 3 very intelligent and savy young demigods and satyr for the sake of something needing to go wrong with the plot.
It was already a dumb move, but by not letting it be the cause of the plot be the party it makes the characters be more believable. Yes, it is still dumb to throw a party at a goddess' house without their permission, especially when you're supposed to be house/pet sitting for her, but hey it happens. Hecate screwed Percy over already and is proud of it, while it's dumb to potentially draw her ire, she only had herself to blame for it too. Not that it would have saved them from being tortured by her since the gods are hypocrites, but fair's fair a the end of the day.

Hazel was tucked into herself, legs pulled against her chest, head resting onto her knees, arms wrapped right around her calves. She looked small, quiet. Watching the rush of the Styx only a couple feet away with misery. She didn't speak when he called out to her. Didn't speak as he approached.
But when he sat down beside her, she turned with tear stained eyes and asked, "Did you know that my mom raped our dad?"
He did, actually. It wasn't a hidden secret, just something not talked about. Everyone knew. Pluto, Hades, their favourite boss, their loving husband - he'd gone missing for a few months. And when he came back, he was more reclusive than normal. And nine months later, he announced the birth of a little girl to a woman none of them had heard about before.
According to Macaria, it had taken all their effort to stop Persephone, Proserpina, from decimating Marie once the pieces of the unspoken puzzle finally clicked. And she had refused to speak to Hecate for over a decade.
It was her spell that had trapped her husband in that situation, after all.
Nico didn't find out that way though. He had simply asked how Pluto had met Marie. How Hazel had come into the world. Curiosity always got the better of him and he always liked going to the source for his information. Hades had told him - "I was summoned to her side and unable to leave until I gave her what she wanted, which was wealth."
And that wealth came in the form of a little girl.
He never said the words outright. Nico had a feeling he rarely ever did, sidestepping the problem the way he always did when things affected him and him alone, determined to handle his issues by himself, no matter the people around him who wanted to help.
It wasn't obvious what he meant. But Nico knew his father well by now to know that when something hurt him, he cut down his details to simple words, everything carefully picked out before he voiced them. He didn't believe in pulling other people into the pain of his history, didn't want people judging those that hurt him just because they did.
Hades could hold a grudge until the end of time, but he wasn't a fan of people holding those grudges with him.
"I did." Nico scooted closer to her. "He didn't really say it but... I inferred it through context."
Hazel sniffled. "I asked him why he was so... Different with me. I thought." She paused before chucking bitterly under her breath. She exhaled sharply and pulled herself into tighter. "I thought it was because of me. Or because Hades doesn't see me as his child, because I'm Roman, and Pluto loves differently or not at all, and I just-"
She went quiet.
He waited.
After a few beats, she shook her head. "I love my mom." She paused. Shook her head again. "Loved my mom. But she was complicated and she didn't really... She didn't really show me that she cared, I just had to know it. And I saw how Dad was with you and I thought it meant..."
Tears began to well up thick in her already red-rimmed eyes. Nico pulled a tissue out of his pocket. She released a bubbly hiccuping breath as she accepted it. Dabbing at her eyes with a delicacy that would have made his grandmother proud.
"But. No. He said, he said he loves me like any of his other children, that I make him so proud and he's happy I get to live again, have a second try at a good life, but I just-" She sobbed. "I look like my mother and it hurts him. And with Hecate and my fucking training-"
She kicked the ground. And kicked it again and again and again. Sand scuffed into the air and splashed into the Styx. Nico watched the waves. Knew if he got too close to the water's edge, if he even let a sliver of the freezing cold lap at his feet, they'd pull him down. The mighty Miss Styx would drown him. He knew this.
And he knew why Hazel chose this spot to cry.
He shifted around so his back was to the water and he's facing her. If she wanted to jump, if she wanted to rush the water, she had to risk him falling in with her.
He wondered what their father had said to Hazel. Could imagine the clipped way he explained, with limited emotion, trying to phrase it in a way that wouldn't have Hazel's complex emotions about her mother become even worse. Could imagine how he was stiff, repressed, wherever he stood or sat.
The problem was, no matter how he phrased it, once Hazel understood the true context behind her mother's relationship with their father, there was no coming back from it. There was no was she wasn't going to be dismayed, horrified and disgusted.
There was no way she wasn't going to blame herself.
"It's sad," he said. "It's awful. But it's not your fault."
"Yeah, he said that too," she snapped. She rubbed at her face. "Kept reminding me that he loved me and it wasn't my fault. Like that was supposed to make me feel better."
"Would you rather he hate you for something you were a product of, rather than a participant in?"
Hazel glared at him.
He understood that she was feeling a multitude of conflicting emotions, knew that she had been, and likely still was, a little jealous of him and his relationship with their father. This wasn't the first time they spoke about how he was different with her.
It was Nico's prompting that she ask that led them to this talk.
And now when she looked at him, she didn't see a person their father loved more. No, she saw a product of consent and love. Which burned her because she now knew she wasn't.
"Can't believe I was so stupid. I knew she summoned him! I knew it and I just accepted that he fell in love with her, like it made sense." She barked out a short angry laugh. "Who falls in love with someone they just met?"
Nico thought of sea green eyes and a glistening sword. "I did." Hazel rubbed at her face again. "And you were a kid, Hazel, you had no reason to think your mother was lying to you."
"Why not? She lied to me about everything else!"
"Hazel-"
"I shouldn't even be here," she hissed. "I shouldn't have been born."

I finally got around to writing a fic I’ve been thinking of for ages, based on my headcanon here about Amity visiting Manny’s grave. To anyone who’s missing their dad today: I’m so proud of you just for sticking it out. Please take good care of yourself.
Amity finds Willow in the garden, of course, but can’t bring herself to call out to her. She spends a minute, then two, going over things to say in her head, but everything sounds awkward or strange, and she doesn’t know how to ask, until—
“Amity?”
Willow turns around.
“Hey,” Amity says, lifting her hand in an awkward wave. “Can I ask you for a favor?”
Willow puts her pruning shears on the ground and nods. “Sure? What’s up?”
“Could you grow me a bouquet?”
The confusion melts from Willow’s face, replaced with glee. “Aww, is it for Luz?”
Amity opens her mouth. Pauses. Considers. “Sure,” she says finally.
Willow’s brow furrows, but it smooths again so quickly Amity wonders if she imagined it. “What kind of flowers would you like?” she asks.
Amity picks up the book of flowers and meanings on the little table by the back door, the one Luz got Willow from the library when she expressed an interest in growing human flowers but needed pictures for reference. She flips through it until she lands on the pages marked with matching Hecate and Azura bookmarks Luz made her and says, “blue hydrangeas and pink carnations.”
Willow looks over the pictures and calls a ring of beautiful blooms up from the ground, picking them one by one and handing them to Amity.
“They’re perfect,” Amity says sincerely. “Thank you.”
Willow smiles and rubs the back of her neck. “You know, if you ever want to learn how to grow them, I’d be happy to teach you.”
Amity blinks. She’s gotten used to glyphs, but the idea of learning another one of the official tracks feels new, and a little startling. She pictures growing a bunch of vines in front of her mom, reveling in the horror on Odalia’s face right before she smacks it off her, and finds herself smiling.
“I’d like that,” she says, and Willow smiles, too.
It’s on the tip of her tongue to offer to teach Willow about abomination magic, but she swallows the words. They would be sincere, unlike the other times she’s offered over the years, but she knows they would be less of a help than salt in a wound. Willow’s smile turns a little knowing, as if she can see the wheels turning in Amity’s head, and she pats her shoulder before turning back to her plants.
Amity scribbles a quick note saying she’s gone out on a walk and lets herself out the front door, starting down the road Camila drove them all down the day after she arrived, when she took them on a tour of the town. It had mostly been houses for the first few blocks before towering trees replaced them. A single road went through the forest, and though Camila didn’t drive down or even look at it, Amity had registered the words on the sign beside it: Gravesfield Cemetery.
It takes longer to walk to it, but Amity reaches it in about fifteen minutes. She shivers despite herself as she reaches the shade of the trees, the road feeling haunted already.
She shivers even harder when, between the trees, towering stones begin to appear. The path turns into more of a clearing, revealing rows and rows of graves that start out on dry land before descending into a sort of lake. His should be new enough to be close to the path, she decides, and begins moving row by row, scanning the names until she finds it.
His name was Manny.
She takes a deep breath, suddenly and inexplicably nervous, and kneels before his stone, gently setting the flowers down beneath the name. She opens her mouth, but her breath is coming too quickly for her to get any words out. She closes it. Forces herself to inhale deeply through her nose. Tries again.
“Hi, Mr. Noceda,” she says. “My name is Amity Blight. I’m Luz’s girlfriend. She’s… she’s probably the best thing that ever happened to me. And she only exists because of you. I wanted to thank you for that, and Luz mentioned you liked flowers, so…”
She trails off, unsure of where to go next, and jumps when another voice fills the void.
“Looks like we had the same idea.”
Amity gasps, brushing dirt off of her shorts and whipping around. Luz is smiling at her sadly, a bouquet of pink, purple, and blue flowers in her hands. Amity doesn’t know their names, but the colors are familiar; they’re the same ones on Luz’s flag.
“Luz! I’m so sorry, this was weird, wasn’t it—“
“No, no, no!” Luz shifts her flowers into one hand and takes Amity’s hand with her other one. “It’s sweet, really. I wanted to introduce you to him, I just… well, I know the whole coming-out thing made it harder than it had to be to tell my mom. I didn’t want to make you sad.”
Amity shakes her head. “Luz. Your dad is important to you. That means this is important to me.”
Luz smiles at her and blinks quickly, trying to dispel the tears in her eyes. She turns to face the grave and gently lowers her flowers to sit beside Amity’s.
“Hi, Dad. I’m bi.”
Her voice breaks on the last word, and Amity wraps her arms around her, lowering them both gently to the ground as Luz reaches up to wipe her eyes. She takes a few shaky breaths, then keeps talking.
“This is my girlfriend, Amity. You’d love her. She’s an Azura fan, too.”
Amity’s eyes widen. “Your dad liked The Good Witch Azura, too?”
“He’s the one that introduced me to it.”
Seriously?”
“Yeah, he left me his copy of book one in his will.”
Amity smiles at the headstone. “You have wonderful taste,” she says, and Luz laughs a little, leaning her head on Amity’s shoulder.
Amity hears a sniffle, and at first she thinks it’s Luz— but the sound is too far away. She and Luz turn at the same moment and catch a flicker of red in the trees.
“Flapjack?” Luz calls uncertainly.
The bird cheeps once, fluttering out from the tree he was perched in— and then Hunter steps out behind him. His eyes are dry, confusing Amity— until Willow steps out from the tree beside Hunter’s, and Gus from the tree beside hers, both of them wiping their eyes.
“Did you all follow me here?”
“I’m sorry,” Willow says immediately. “You were acting weird, and I wondered if you were in some kind of trouble.”
“And we went with her, to keep her out of trouble,” Gus adds.
“Which we kind of failed at,” Hunter concludes.
Willow turns to Luz. “I’m sorry for prying.”
“We all are,” Gus adds.
Luz shakes her head. “This isn’t really a secret,” she says. “I’m not mad.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Gus asks quietly.
What composure Luz has managed to regain cracks, and she swallows. “It… well, it never really came up. It happened a long time ago, so it’s not a big deal.”
Willow’s eyes widen. “Of course it’s a big deal,” she says, coming to sit on Luz’s other side.
“Your dad is gone,” Gus adds, joining them on the ground. “Nothing makes that okay. I’m going out of my mind missing mine, and we’re doing everything we can to get back to him. I can’t imagine not having him at all.”
Luz is crying openly now, and between sobs, she manages, “that’s what people said for the first year. But after that… I was supposed to move on, you know? I was supposed to be okay. To not let myself be defined by loss.”
She sounds like Amity does when she’s paraphrasing a teacher, and Amity’s heart clenches.
“So,” Luz continues, “by not bringing it up, I thought that’s what I was doing.”
Hunter finally comes to complete their circle. He raises a hand, hesitates, and then rests it on Luz’s shoulder.
“It’s like Amity said,” he says. “He’s important to you, so he’s important to us.”
Luz sniffles loudly, but she gives him a true smile through the tears. She wipes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and looks at the headstone again.
“These are my friends, Dad,” she introduces.
“Hi.” Willow gives the headstone a tiny wave. “I’m Willow Park. Your daughter and I became friends when she pretended to be an unholy mound of goo to help me with my homework.”
Luz giggles.
“I’m Agustus Porter,” Gus adds. “I became friends with your daughter because she was friends with Willow, and also because she’s a human. And so are you! Which is so cool!”
“I’m Hunter. I became friends with your daughter after we went through my uncle… um, well, he said he was my uncle… after we went through my guardian’s mind and found out he was actually super evil. It was a bonding experience.”
Gus and Willow exchange an uncomfortable look, but Luz is still laughing. “Look at this, Papá! They’re as weird as we are!”
Amity smiles, squeezing Luz’s shoulders.
“Maybe even weirder, at least here. Because. You know. We’re witches.”
“Real witches, Papá.” Luz looks at all of them, her smile easier now. It still trembles, but it isn’t holding anything back. It’s one of the reasons Amity— and all of them, she knows— adore Luz as much as they do; because she’s so genuine. And so they’re happy to settle in beside her, happy to listen to the story and add their own embellishments, as she says, “let me tell you about a place called the Boiling Isles.”

You forgot the ocean
( an intimate continuation from here. )
@mpx-susanoo:
His curt laugh reverberated around the spacious bathroom. His eyes watched, openly checking her out as Hecate walked away from him with the proud rhetorical question of hers. The goddess was definitely something else, with her magic and darkness so foreign that he could not help but staring, and that may be why they kept coming back to stir up each other’s timeline in one way or another. “You forgot the ocean, my dear Hecate.” Susanoo’s statement was accompanied by the giggles of water as he raised and stepped out from the bathtub. The gentle lights casting down from the ceiling reflect the water running down his frame, making his skin glow, almost glossy. Leisurely, he threw on a white bathrobe, tied it loosely around his waist, then followed her to the dining room. He waited for their eyes to meet again, and that was when the corners of his lips lifted up into a playful smile, “You want some wine? Or should we just go down to the ‘main course’?”
Their history was simple. While wandering this world, it is natural to cross paths with other godly beings and sometimes, attraction is inevitable. It had happened with one other god too, but for Susanoo, it was slightly different. There were no emotional ties, no connection beyond the physical desire. And both wished to keep it that way and that is why Hecate would occasionally revisit their past in the present.
She smirked at this response. "Did I though? Perhaps I do still need you from time to time." The push and pull came naturally whenever they'd spend time together, a brief moment of amusement before the focus shifted. "Why not both?" She replied back, moving towards where she knew Susanoo would store the drinks. Hecate hoped Susanoo would simply follow, so there was no hesitation as she indulged herself, selecting the bottle of her preference and preparing the drinks.
"Since when are you so narrow-minded?" Hecate teased, returning to stand in front of him and handing the glass. Once the other held it, her hand moved to undo his robe's knot and her fingers trailed his side, feeling his soft skin as her lips pampered his jaw with brief pecks. She would start gently, especially not to ruin the expensive wine.

We have a returning citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Hecate, the Greek Goddess of Witchcraft and Ghosts. She is a professor at Phoenix University.
FC NAME/GROUP: Park Gyoeng Ree, soloist / ex-9muses GOD NAME: Hecate PANTHEON: Greek OCCUPATION: Professor of Witchcraft at Phoenix University HEIGHT: 170.4 cm (5’7″) WEIGHT: 52 kg (114 lbs) DEFINING FEATURES: Tattoo under each breast (reference)
PERSONALITY: Hecate can be described as a bittersweet soul. Devoted to her beliefs and nature, she became someone responsible, yet spiteful if you brush her the wrong way. Her offspring and worshippers are Hecate’s priority and she’s incredibly protective of the people under her grace. The goddess can be perceived as arrogant to strangers, although this is just her way to protect herself and her feelings as throughout the centuries she grew suspicious of most people, no matter if humans or gods and especially, men with a strong presence.
She is hard-working and clever, her demeanour can be elegant with a cold tone to it, as she decides if you’re worthy of her time.
HISTORY: Just many others, she believed in rumours, words from people that had nothing to do with the situation and questioned everything, except the truth. A goddess had fallen victim to the King of the Underworld and Hecate could sit and witness just hideous act. As she helped Demeter to reunite with her daughter, the facts and the real villain came to the surface and this was the first step to change Hecate’s perspective on relationships.
Persephone became the closest presence in Hecate’s life and the goddess of witchcraft spent the next centuries mindlessly obeying her duties in the Underworld, watching several souls of women, girls and elders being brought to the other side due to acts of violence, abuse or negligence and the Hecate couldn’t take it anymore. She was alone, freed from any responsibilities yet keen on creating her own and right on time. The called ‘Witch-hunt’ was at its peak, women being accused of supernatural powers, lives taken by flames. If that is what people believed, then let’s prove them right, in the worse way. Hecate would visit helpless women, teaching them the basics of witchcraft and turning them into worshippers, through the decades, small covens would secretly arise, generations of human apprentices into witchcraft supplied Hecate with pride.
Along the way, Hecate closed her heart and emotions to anyone aside from her worshippers, but she was still a being with desires which lead to bringing children to this world and some of them would be adopted by a trustworthy coven. With technology and society adjusting to gain more conscience, her path to help the helpless became less prominent and Hecate’s mind focused only in finally resting, taking her time to enjoy the human world, see old friends and perhaps be an actual mother to her children. Her next home would Mount Phoenix, the only place she could comfortably find a new reason to walk the Earth, while still closing her heart with a century-old key.
POWERS: As goddess of witchcraft and ghosts, Hecate is able to conjure medium-sized flames, cast several types of spells (on her own, but stronger if using her spellbook) and prepare hexes, curses and minor blessings. She is also capable of briefly communicating with souls in the underworld and speaking to / sensing nearby ghosts. She has basic knowledge of herbs and alchemy, as well. STRENGTHS: Strong-minded, ambitious, relentless, proud. WEAKNESSES: Insensitive, cunning, vindictive, can be judgemental. Physically fragile, and emotionally vulnerable if under stress.

Realtionship's (with canon characters - riddler) :-
Batman / Bruce Wayne :- in the past, Christel and Bruce had disagreements about how things work around his family and Gotham. Which even resulted in a physical battle. But nowadays they see eye to eye, he also tried to adopt her. But Damian and Delenn didn't let that happen. Thank god-
Nightwing / Dick Grayson :- there was a time when dick was dating caludia, which resulted in Christel jokingly giving him the pet-name "papa". After caludia's death, both became distant but still each others comfort. Christel still calls him "papa" as a nickname.
Red hood / Jasom Todd :- Jason is married to delenn and Carol, both are Christel's mother's. That technically makes him her father. But Christel hasn't called him that. She still has a childish grunch against him because during her first week in Gotham, he stole her cheesebread.
Red robin / Tim drake :- she met him in his civilian form first unlike the others. They are college friends that often go to Starbucks together.
Robin / Damian Wayne :- they started as hating each other for a very petty reason but they ended up becoming sorta friends and then that became lovers. Basically they speed-ran enemies to lovers in a year--
Black-bat / Cassandra Cain :- Hecate's lover, the batfamily member Christel trusts the most. After Damian of course.
Spoiler / Steph :- Hecate's other lover, Christel finds her funny and the star of any party.
Alfred / agent A :- Christel respects him the most, she also thinks he is immortal. He has to be.
Signal / Duke Thomas :- he was her first friend when she was interning for Wayne industries. Like Tim, she met Duke first. signal second.
Major Arcs for Christel :-
•Apocalypse arc :- caused by Hades / christel's second death takes place / Christel starts a zombie apocalypse / Hannah, Hecate and Delenn save Christel and kill Hades/ Christel becomes the goddess of the underworld.
• Elora vs Gotham Arc :- Elora attacks Gotham / Claudia dies / Christel erases herself and her family from the timeline resulting in another timeline taking place / making it her third death.
• Erasure arc :- takes place after the Gotham vs Elora arc, in the new timeline, erasure timeline / everything is wrong / Delenn ends up saving Christel and reversing the effects of her death / Hades revives back and both Christel and Hades end up as co-rulers of the underworld.
Mini arc's for Christel :-
•Persephone's gift :- Persephone gifts Christel and Damian a baby gir, against their will. Her names becomes Aristella. The Greek god's gift her the powers of time-travel.
•court of owls kidnapping :- Christel gets kidnapped by the court as a punishment for "breaking" their talon (nathen). They contact a nightmare demon and kidnap the joker. With the help of the nightmare demon, they take a portion of Christel's power and jokers insanity and make a test tube child with talon genes. That child is named aleksander by Delenn.
•Christel & Damian's wedding : (part 1) (part 2)

“Don’t let anyone dehumanize you. Dehumanize yourself. Be the creeping eldritch horror you’ve always longed to be. Rain furious vengeance down upon those who would unmake you.”
"Clearly you've never been to Helheim." Hel's dry tone coupled with an arch of her eyebrow conveyed all of Hel's feelings about that piece of advice. She should have known the Greek goddess would come slinking back unto the island sooner or later. Under different circumstances Hel would probably have befriended Hecate, but current events might not endear the goddess that much to her person.
Said object of their possible contention exited the arena looking all chuffed at winning another fight. Hel allowed herself the tiniest of proud smiles before she turned back to look at Hecate. "Are you here to try your hand at the ring?" It was a ridiculous question, but meant to divert.

"Exactly." Liz says with a smile, when he mentions that he would've had tangible evidence of witches sooner, if they didn't keep to themselves. "Your best friend is a werewolf? Wow." Liz hadn't even known werewolves were real until now. But it makes sense to her. After all, witches are real. She's living proof. And so it only makes sense that other supernatural beings exist too.
At his next words, Liz chuckles. "I can understand that." She says with a bright smile. She doesn't have unlimited energy herself, but she does understand curiosity. That she has an unlimited supply of herself. And so she sees how he could be attracted by shiny things, as she would be too. "I'm very curious myself, and it sometimes gets me in trouble." Sometimes other people don't like or take offense to her curiosity. And she doesn't like when that happens. After all, in her opinion curiosity is perfectly natural. Everyone has some of it, despite whether or not they act on it. All she does different is not hold herself back. And judging by his words, Stiles is much the same.
Liz looks impressed when he mentions that witch and wizard are just words for the same thing. She's glad he isn't too preoccupied with the gender behind the terms. It's something Liz herself had never quite understood. Except in terms of if one word causes someone discomfort. She would never want to make anyone uncomfortable. That said, she does think gendering of things can get out of hand quite quickly. So she's glad he doesn't care about the gender behind the words, personally. "I guess so." She says with a wider smile.
His next words make her smile turn into a frown. She doesn't want to disappoint him. But she has to be honest about the origin of her own powers. She doesn't want to get his hopes up unfairly. "That's understandable," She says. "Who wouldn't want powers? I think that's a natural desire. Everyone wants to be powerful, after all." Liz doesn't know what she'd do without her abilities, for example. She assumes that if she didn't have them, she'd dream about having them. So it makes perfect sense to her that he would have similar dreams.
When he says that about Hecate, Liz nods. "I see." She doesn't, really. But she isn't likely to admit that. Perhaps she's a bit proud when it comes down to it. She does wonder, though. How does he know Hecate exists if he's never met her? And what is up with the mirror part? Liz isn't sure if her curiosity or her proud nature will win out. It really depends on what he says next, she supposes. When he mentions that he won't risk an invocation because he brings too much bad luck, Liz pouts. "Aawh, sorry to hear that. I feel you, though." Liz has experienced that feeling in the past. Especially after her mother passed away. Though she had only been human, that hadn't affected Liz's love of her one bit. She loves her mother and misses her to this day.
Liz shrugs at the question. Her father hadn't given her much information about the head witches and warlocks. All he had known was their location. "I actually don't know." Liz pauses, frowning a bit. "I guess that would be helpful information to have, knowing what the head witches and warlocks are like. But I'm afraid even my father wouldn't know. He had to leave them behind years ago, you see." In her view, it had all been a misunderstanding. And it hadn't helped that he had fallen in love with a human. That had probably annoyed them. Though Liz isn't sure why. In her view, as long as the human in question is accepting of their partner's powers, there should be no problem. And her mother had been. So Liz doesn't see why the head witches and warlocks would have objected to her.
"For someone who just found out we exist, you sure know a lot about wizards and witches." She says with a bright smile. Not that she minds. In fact, that will allow him to help her even more. "Yes, every witch and wizard does learn from their family first. And we definitely crave the recognition." Her father had taught her everything he had known about magic. But even his capabilities had been exhausted. Wanting Liz to learn more, he had told her about the head witches and warlocks. But of course, it won't be much of a success if she doesn't find them. And her search is getting rather frustrating. So she's glad to have his help.
"Indeed," She says when he mentions that the assumption of witches and wizards remaining in their own little world had been true, so maybe there is a Ministry of Magic. Liz wouldn't know if there was, her father hadn't mentioned such a thing. Yet he might not have known either. And it's good to have even a glimmer of hope. "I'm rather adventurous myself, so we'll make a good team." She says with a chuckle. "It definitely will. You know a lot about us, for a human. Guess that comes with having a werewolf as a best friend, and being the curious type." She says with a bright smile. "And no problem. It's probably going to take a while, but that's alright. I won't give up." Liz isn't the giving up type. Especially when she doesn't want to let her father down. But it's not just that. She wants to learn more about magic. And if this is how she does it, she's willing to wait as long as it takes. She smiles, amused at his next words. "I don't know if you will succeed in that. But if we ever do find the head witches and warlocks, we could definitely ask them if gaining magic as a human is a possibility." If anyone would know that information, it would be them, right?
Liz puts her hand out for him to shake. "Deal?" Wanting to gain powers appears to be important to him. And finding the head witches and warlocks is important to her. So perhaps they can help each other. She'd love to be able to offer him powers herself, but she's not sure if it would even work. But the head witches and warlocks should know if it can happen. And if not, she's certain he can contribute to his friends in other ways. Humans, after all, are not entirely powerless. Although there are limitations that come with being human, even magic has its limits. For example, her and her father's magic couldn't prevent her mother's passing. There are only so many things that magic can heal. And it appears that cancer is not one of those things.
And even witches do not live forever. Sure, some of them might live longer than the average human due to magic. But according to her father, it depends on the witch and how powerful they are. He's getting up there in age himself, but is not older than a human ever could be. Liz hopes he will last a while yet, though. She wants him to see her find the head witches and warlocks and learn more about magic from them.
There was no surprises about it. Otherwise, people would know about how, yes, it was possible to get werewolves pet considering emergence of pack was something pretty simple to do … and he would have know witches physically existed somewhere ! For the current moment, he didn't wanted blaming himself too much his human nature. His complete, boring, insignificant and powerless human nature … assuming some of his desires to eventually learning magic was just … basically out of his reach … unless maybe he needed to exploring some part of himself or he didn't knew what for feeling reassured on the matter. Or he could speak about that golden butterfly in his dreams … If he allowing himself to. ❝ Otherwise, I would have know tangible existence of witches sooner. ❞ It had always been a certainty that he had carried within him, but to which he had waited for a real physical confirmation, a proof that his impression was correct. He knew witches existed --- it had to be. It had with what he had been perceiving beyond the veil of an Nogitsune --- He simply had until now no proofs. Well, if Scott had expressed all his decomposed face concerning his devotation for Star Wars, he wasn't ready to educating himself as an wizard. Compared to the model he had with Luke Skywalker, well, as an wizard, he wanted to be powerful … but scary mostly. Really becoming the little boy not to fuck around, meanwhile remaining himself, it was sure if wasn't too much to ask of existence, right ? An silly whim really ! ❝ My pack is all sweet, you will see how much they are adorable, especially my best friend~ ❞ He could expressing that information already, since his comments might turn harsh when it was concerning other concerned werewolves … and when it would have to explain the rest.
Playfulness inscreased. ❝ Oh, I do confirm it's that way things happens. ❞ He smiled. ❝ You'll quickly notice that I obviously like getting into trouble just because I'm attracted to shiny things … and oh, too much energy to spare. Some days I can't calm down. It will be an long and amusing eventful story to tell ! ❞
There was awareness about how he had insisted upon the word witch, there had been a desire to put an certain meaning over it. Something he preferred not explaining. Still, the predictable sound of disappointement escaped his lips, when she explained she gain her powers by her dad. As far he knew, none of his parents were connected to whatever witch. Nah, he simply had an single golden butterfly in his mind, just that, nothing else. He shrugged. ❝ Same word for same thing. ❞ He noted as he didn't cared much about the gender attached to the meaning he was thinking of concerning that word witch. ❝ Ah. Too bad for me who wanted to believe I can grab some powers around … ❞ He almost mocked towards his own silly dream, as he swallowed an passing sadness of another thing out of his reach apparently. It what that bad of him to want experiencing familiarity he was sensing ? Concerning Hecate, at least, he managed to gain once more an bright smile. ❝ I think she exists. I'm certain she is. It's one hundred percent certain that she is. Not that I know her personally or have met her as myself personally, but it's like a long-standing feeling that she's some sort of old friend who's there and watching. A good friend of mirrors. ❞ It was expressed with vagueness because it was part of aftereffects of his possession somewhere. As some cracks within reality, beyond the ones he wasn't aware of within himself, had exploded … and his own reflection could serve as an weapon, and it was right to do it. ❝ If I met her one day, I'm sure we will have plently of things to talk about … but I won't risk an invocation attempt for nothing in the world. I bring too much bad luck. ❞ He will confessing One Context far later inside the conversation or within current situation he was in. ❝ Too dangerous. ❞
Another silence following her explanations. It was good informations to know. ❝ Alright. ❞ Within his silence, he was processing there was actually an head witches and warlocks in New York. It all promised to be cool ! ❝ Is the one you're looking for the kind of civil servant who enjoys meetings? That might help find him. If he likes discretion, we will have to really search every corner of the city, but if he likes group meetings, there must be tea rooms where he can make conversation. ❞ Humour remained attached to his sentences, meanwhile remaining serious within his intention to help her. ❝ It's understandable. Knowing that kind of stuff with the family is sort of first step, to be officially recognized gives greatness. Any witch seeks to have this kind of recognition. ❞ He didn't even questioning why he was so sure, him who was just an simple human that will not say no to be a witch ! At the comment over his somehow pop culture reference, his expression received another blow of disappointement somewhere, only somewhere. ❝ Ah, was pretty sure it was true. ❞ Though, how she pondered the possibility making him smile further. ❝ Assumption witches staying inside their little universe was pretty right so far, so maybe it's is possible, and it's is existing, and there was just gates to find. I'll be an adventurer anyways. Of course, you can count of me. I might just be an human who actually dream to be able to becoming a witch, my little experience of the field of supernatural will serve me. ❞ He mused amusingly. ❝ On the other hand, I can't guarantee you that we will find him quickly … or that I will succeed in educating myself as a wizard while I become your human coach for control your magic ! ❞

What pet do they give you? (DLH characters)
Ares:
A dog. He actually tried to give you a wolf, but you were firm and managed to convince him that its domesticated cousin would be just as wonderful. Ares didn’t like it at first, because the puppy wasn’t as impressive nor big as a wolf, and he didn’t like that the cute animal wouldn’t listen to him when he tried to teach it to hunt.
That being said, it only took a week for the god of war to see how happy the puppy made you and another week for him to fall in love with it too. Now, you can’t see the puppy without Ares being a few meters behind, which is kind of cute for you to be honest. You know that when the dog grows, Ares will try to use it as a dog of war, but eh, you had some more years before.
Arce:
A bird. It was actually your doing. Arce is a little hesitant about having a pet because she couldn’t even take care of herself, let alone another being. It took her by surprise when you arrived home with a cockatiel. At first, she felt like you were mocking her and it made her want to cry.
Bur you were quick to assure her you didn’t do it with bad intentions, the poor baby was just injured and you couldn’t leave it alone. After a few days of watching you take care of it, Arce felt a connection with the bird. Just like herself, the animal had “lost” its wings, but now it was recovering because of you. You were teaching it how to fly again, and it gave Arce hope to do so herself one day too.
Deméter:
“...Please tell me you didn’t get me a horse as a birthday gift”
Spoiler: she did. The horse is her sacred animal, of course she was going to give you one at some point! It was just a matter of time and you knew it, so don’t complain now. The good news was that he was actually such a sweet boy and loved you as much as Demeter did, so don’t worry, he’ll behave.
Hestia:
Iguana. It was completely your fault. You didn’t let her bring any dragons into your house and you insisted on working (even if she was a goddess and could easily, you know, maintain you!), leaving her all alone in the house while you were out and since she didn’t like to go out, she just bored herself to death until you came back.
So she got herself a companion! A small one! (well, small for her standards), she even named it after your father and she will clean after it! Pinky promise! You know you can’t say no to Hestia when she makes her puppy face, and the Iguana is actually cute.
Hades:
You have Cerberus, what else do you want?! He’s a giant, dangerous, murderous, and cute as hell puppy who loves you as much as his owner! He has it all! Go pet your big baby and don’t think about having other fur babies, little miss!
Despena:
While she was out helping her mother, she found a small, cute little bunny that had fallen into a trap. She didn’t have the heart to leave it there! And after fighting with Hades and Hela for its soul, she took it home to you. Let’s be honest, you would never say not to a baby bunny, let alone one that was fighting for its life and needed you.
You and Despena took care of it for weeks and by the time it fully recovered, you were already proud mothers to it and were already choosing names and birthday parties dates.
Hermes:
“Hermes, we are NOT keeping the goat”
You did keep the goat. You just couldn’t say no to Hermes’ pouting face and the little shit knew it! He kept begging you for days until you gave up and agreed to let the animal into your house (you made him promise he’d clean after it, tho). The first days were hard because it chewed on everything and almost destroyed your furniture, but Hermes paid for it all and at the end of the day, it was fun, so you couldn’t complain.
Hécate:
A fox. She herself was more of a dog person, and you two had been talking about pets months after she started living with you, but apparently, it took you too long to decide which pet you wanted and the universe chose for you, and one day, Hecate found a baby fox in on of her cauldrons.
There was no mother nor siblings, she made sure of that by looking around for hours. She didn’t know how the small thing ended up there, but by the way it hide in her dress pocket, it had no intentions of leaving. So, Hecate did what everyone else would have done: accept it and present to you your new child.
Freyja:
Bygul and Trjegul came as a package with Freyja when you first started dating her, so of course, you knew them from the beginning and loved them just as they loved you. Freyja was happy to see how quickly you all accepted each other because you were her family and she wouldn’t have known what to do if you didn’t like her babies.
Loki:
A snake. He scared the shit out of you when he first came back home with it. It was not that you were scared of snakes and you knew your boyfriend loved them, so it was just a matter of time before he’d bring one as a pet and you knew it. It was just that you didn’t expect Loki to put it on your shoulder while you were fucking bathing!
It was funny for him to hear your screams and curses, but he knew you’d get revenge and, if he was honest, you scared him sometimes, so he flew away before you could get out of the shower.
Hela:
Technically speaking, you had all kinds of pets. Hela had given you permission to play with all the animal souls in her realm and it was not strange for you to have one or two following you around Helheim.
It kind of became a game between you two after a while. You’d come to Hela with a huge smile on your face and something behind you (or in the shadows if it was a big animal) and she’d try to guess what was it. You’d give her a kiss each time she’d get it right, so she was always bribing the animals before you went to visit her.

Con Man's Daughter (3)
I have probably said it before but I haven't watch MLB except for a few episodes and I basically looked at the wiki for the plot of origins. But whatever, Hope you like it.
[Masterlist]
(Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 4)
----
Because Marinette has John Constantine as a father. She might retaliate against Chloe in more….magical ways.
John brings Marinette over to his house to tutor her in magic more safely in a place more equipped to handle stray spells.
And said house is full of books filled with magic spells and some of them are exclusively filled with curses.
If a 9-year-old Marinette happened to go home one day with a book that was definitely off-limits to her. Her father doesn’t have to know.
Well, it’s just a coincidence that Chloe was unable to talk for a whole day because she could only ribbit like a frog.
And that she had a very nasty rash afterwards that made her absent for over a week.
And she somehow had her hair in a horrible shade of purple that was such an eyesore that made her too ashamed to come out of her room.
It was also a big coincidence that Chloe suffered from those bad things after she bullied Marinette and made other kids cry.
------
Sabine while talking to John about something on the phone one day, “I know I agreed to let you teach Marinette to protect herself but were the curses really necessary?”
John was confused and a horrible niggling feeling started in the back of his head. “Curses? Like what?”
“There is this mean girl in her class. Teachers let her get away with bullying because her father is the new mayor. Making people have lumps all over their body like a bubonic plague victim got to be one of your magic tricks. I appreciate you looking out for her like that but you have to tell me about things like this beforehand.”
“Sabine, darling, can you hold on for a few minutes? I need to check something.”
“What? John! Don’t you dare hang up on me! I just want some answers.”
A few minutes later….
There were a few swears heard on the other end before John came back. “Oh Bollocks!”
“Sabine, if I didn’t believe you then, I believe you now. Marinette is definitely my daughter.”
“Okay, what happened John?”
“Well, it looks like one of my books has been replaced with…’The Witches’ by Ronald Dahl. I don’t know whether to be angry or proud.”
“Is it dangerous?”
“The one about Witches. It is a classic, Mr Dahl nearly got it right except for the money thing, witches actually make diamonds and other gems and sell them off instead. The book of Hecate? It would be best if I took it off your hands before one of those spells backfires badly.”
----
Marinette was grounded but she somehow got her parents to agree to let her learn curses. She can only cast them at most five times a year so she had to make them count. (Sabine shouldn’t really encourage this behaviour but Chloe had made Marinette miserable and that school lets her get away with bullying other children. And because of Chloe’s father, they can’t do anything much. This might teach that awful girl a lesson or two.)
Chloe suspected that Marinette was behind the bad things happening.
No. Chloe knew for a fact that Marinette was behind the bad things happening to her.
After nearly everyone left the class except for Marinette, Chloe walked up to Marinette and did her usual mocking and how superior she was.
Instead of the expected reaction of tears, the ravenette simply looked at her straight in the eyes and chanted ominously in a foreign language.
Chloe at first rolled her eyes and commented that she was a freak until light shone from Marinette’s hands and Chloe began to glow but not in a good way.
“What did you do?!” Chloe shrieked, struggling to move.
Marinette after the spell was done, held up a mirror and Chloe saw that she had fur all over her body and she looked like a monkey. She screamed.
She felt something moving from her butt and turned around to see a tail sticking out of her skirt.
Chloe screamed again and fainted on the spot.
Marinette used an invisibility charm and got out of the classroom as the teachers came in to see the source of the screaming.(CCTV just showed Chloe being alone in the class with Marinette being the last one to leave. She tried very hard not to laugh when they questioned her.)
The doctors couldn’t figure out how Chloe ended up like that and every time she shaved the fur off, it grew back the next morning. They discuss surgically removing the tail to which Chloe paled although it was hard to tell with the fur.
Chloe didn’t leave her room until Sabine told Marinette to lift the curse when she found out about it. Which was two weeks after the incident.
During that time, Chloe plotted revenge.
First day back, Chloe stomped up on Marinette and began accusing her of turning her into that monstrosity and she will pay for it.
Marinette simply rolled her eyes to the back of her head so the whites of her eyes were shown which John had taught her how to do for funsies and began chanting in that unknown language. (Which was actually the recipe for her family’s famous cupcakes in Latin. She only had 2 chances left for curses and was going to save them.)
Chloe freaked out and she scrambled away from Marinette as far as she could, calling her a freak and a monster along the way.
“I prefer to be called Enchantress.” Marinette shouted after her good-naturally, her eyes back to normal.
The entire courtyard was silent before cheering. Congratulating the pig-tailed girl on defeating the wicked witch of the west.
Kim being a drama queen and kneeling before Marinette, “O Enchantress, you protect us from the wicked witch. We are forever in your debt.”
“Rise and live out your lives free from her ugly eyeshadow and terrible colour scheme.”
Chloe tried many different tactics to make other people believe that Marinette had magic and was putting curses on her.
Mme Bustier lectured Marinette about being the perfect example and to stop with the magic curses.
Marinette, not agreeing with the bullshit philosophy and being a Constantine, meaning she treats the rules as more of a guideline, cursed her teacher to have bad luck for a while.
(Sabine was at first angry that Marinette cursed her teacher until she found out about forgiving others' philosophy that Bustier tried to force on Marinette even though Marinette didn’t do anything wrong and Chloe had insulted Marinette’s heritage.)
Marinette, being a little petty, entered the school talent show and did non-magical magic tricks, lessons courtesy of Aunty Z (Zatanna) and looked straight into Bustier’s eyes as she announced what she was going to do.
This all results in Chloe less likely to pick on Marinette and try to stay out of her bad side as much as possible. Picking on other kids also results in curses so she is much less of a bully.
Chloe still thinks that everyone is beneath her but she doesn’t try to cause trouble as much for fear of retaliation.
She does actively try to prove that Marinette was the one putting curses on her which mainly backfires because everyone thinks it’s cool and Marinette is magic confirmed after placing first in the talent show. (John was there with Zatanna to see the efforts of her lessons and looked like a proud parent the entire time.)
Bustier doesn’t push Marinette to be the perfect example anymore but deeming her as a problem child and giving her detentions for it.
Tom and Sabine got the school board involved who were upset at Bustier for giving detention to a student who wasn’t even causing trouble in class except for entertaining her classmates with ‘magic’ tricks during lunch.
She was reprimanded and had to attend a few training courses and seminars.
Chloe gets away with less things afterwards. Mayor’s daughter or not
-----
When Adrien and Alya came into the picture, things were more different.
Marinette’s first day of school, happened like in canon.
Except Alya walked in on Marinette was arguing with Chloe about her seat and Marinette began chanting in Sumerian, causing Chloe to scream in horror and calling for Sabrina to stop her. Alya thought that was cool and wanted to befriend this awesome quirky girl with pigtails.
Marinette thought that the new girl would make a nice friend with how she backed Marinette against Chloe. She might have to be more careful of her things when letting Alya over.
Stoneheart still happened except Marinette’s first reaction to Tikki was a little different.
Marinette called her dad because the stone monster thing that was once Ivan had a hint of magic and she didn’t know what it was and how to fix it.
She told John about the Stoneheart before noticing a black box on her desk.
She didn’t have this box in her room before and someone managed to get through her wards to put it there so she was very suspicious of it. (Master Fu didn’t take note of the small shock when he went through the invisible barrier. Wyazz on the other hand was curious at the magical protection surrounding the new Ladybug but kept his observation to himself.)
“Dad, you didn’t happen to come into my room while I was at school, did you?”
“No, why?”
“There is a strange box on my desk that wasn’t there before. I am going to open it.”
“Don’t open it until I get there-”
She cautiously opened it, a spell on her lips when there was a flash of light.
“Hello, Marinette. I am Tikki and you are going to be a super-”
Tikki didn’t manage to finish her sentence before being trapped in a magic cage that resembles a crystal.
“Hello, sweetheart, Mari, darling you there?” John’s worried voice came from the phone speaker.
“Yeah, there is a floating red bug mouse thing called Tikki trapped in my room. How fast can you get here?” Marinette replied.
“It will take a few days to tie up some loose ends, after that I will be taking the next flight to Paris.”
Tikki giggled, “I am not a bug mouse. I am a kwami and I give you superpowers to be a hero.”
Marinette gave her an incredulous look, “You are joking, right?”
“A Kwami? Haven’t heard that in a while. What is a powerful magical artifact doing in the hands of my little girl?” John was very surprised and curious. He was also worried because they were only in use when the world needed it most.
“I don’t have time to explain but Marinette was chosen for the task. There is an akuma loose in Paris. It’s the stone monster you saw earlier. Marinette, you need to put on the earrings and transform.” Tikki quickly filled in her powers and what she can do.
“And this is important. No one can know about your identity.”
“Too late for that. My dad knows.”
“Your dad is that strange talking metal tablet?”
“What? No. Don’t you know what a phone is? You know what. I will explain later. Tikki, spots on.”
Her costume is more like a black bodysuit worn under a red coat with a black hood, buttoned up with black buttons and strategically placed black dots that wasn’t an eyesore to her designer senses. Instead of a domino mask she wears an all black one that covers her head with white lenses to show where her eyes are. Think Spider-Gwen from the Spider-Verse style except that the hood is part of the coat. (Okay, it sounds like the Sparrow's suit now that I think about it. But *throws canon out the window into a burning pit* Let's continue.)
------
Marinette slumped on her chair, exhausted.
Apparently, she had a partner. Chat Noir was a little over the top and not properly informed or trained for what they are up against. She might have to talk to him about it later.
She looked at the black butterfly fluttering around in the jar with trap wards carved into it. Marinette wanted to keep it and study it
Tikki told her to purify it with her yo-yo like it was something that made sense. But when it comes to Magic, everything and nothing does.
Right now, she was catching Tikki up on what has changed since the last time she was out.
Tikki was a little worried about her dad knowing about Ladybug. But Marinette assured that her father was good at keeping secrets and he isn’t in Paris all the time so there are less chances of him getting akumatized.
Apparently there is an idiot with a powerful magic brooch loose in Paris and is responsible for turning Ivan into that Stoneheart thing. And the city of Love is going to see more of these attacks often.
Boy, was her dad going to love this.
------
Marinette goes to school the next day while she is there, the butterfly somehow manages to escape.
She meets Adrien and upon feeling his destructive aura which surrounds him like she saw on Chat Noir yesterday. She tried not to groan at the fact that Chloe’s friend is apparently her partner and she doesn’t want to put her life in the hands of someone who is going to ‘torment’ her in her civilian life.
She wonders how he even got chosen as Chat Noir and be trusted with something as powerful as the embodiment of destruction.
She is going to have a talk with Tikki to find this mysterious person that ‘chose’ her and she was going to give them a piece of her mind when she finds them.
------- Time skip -----
Turns out the idiot with the powerful magic artifact is a dramatic bitch that chose the name ‘Hawkmoth’ who wanted her earrings and Chat Noir’s ring.
She was also going to have to find better entrapping spells.
Another thing is that Chloe’s friend is not as mean as she is. So one less thing to be worried about. A bit too trusting and naive for her taste.
No crush because this Marinette is much more cynical. ( It’s obvious that he wears a mask to school and this boy was given the miraculous of destruction for a reason. She tries to find out why, resulting in Alya thinking she has a crush.)

@nectaric said: hades could not stay away from zagreus for long but this stolen moment in the privacy of their room was enough for what was left of the dam to break. as persephone sat on their bed, hades sank to his knees in front of her, burying his face in her lap. “i can’t keep doing this.” he whispered, hoarsely, a sob catching in his throat. he trembled, and fought for breath that would not come. “i thought i - i was going to watch our son die. i thought he - i can’t— i can’t—“
rarely ever did asimina cry. some found catharsis in heavy tears, whereas she only gained a dizzying headache. now, distanced from her little boy, with her devastated husband, she couldn’t restrain her emotions. asimina sobbed, teeth clenched tightly to keep quiet. she felt like tearing their room apart ; throwing every small trinket, ripping their sheets, anything to silence the suffering in her chest. but she had to stay calm.
‘ i know. i know. ‘ spring whispered into the too - still air, her hand brushing through her husband’s soft hair. as she spoke, asimina realized how strange her own voice sounded to her. she needed to help him, both of them. ‘ when he was gone . . . i swore i’d do anything to get him back and keep him in our arms forever. i didn’t care the price, and i’d imagine it so often. hades, the giant is gone. our son is alive and uninjured. our baby is alive. ‘
asimina cursed herself for crying harder, though she got through her words much more confidently than she assumed she would. as long as their children breathed, she would never stop fighting for them. she could speak to hecate, make a vial with essence of her life like hades did. it saved melinoe once, and she refused to idly sit by. ‘ i’m so sorry i wasn’t there. i’m just so fucking proud of both of you, and i promise i’m staying close to you two. i’ll make it better. you’re our little boy’s hero, you know. ‘ asimina gave a strangled laugh, lowering herself to the floor to pull hades against her.
‘ i’m not losing either of you. you’re going to watch him grow up, understand ? ‘ she sniffled, silent for a few moments after. her head felt like it might explode at any moment, yet she miraculously remained intact. ‘ can i have your permission to enchant the castle so no one can enter ? ‘

"Agreed though as a sorceress and student of Headmistress Hecate, patience was a skill constantly drummed into my head. For good reason. Magick is finicky yet precise. A plant or herb picked at the wrong time and added to a spell can lead to disastrous consequences."
She ignored the way her skeletal arm pulsed with pain that wasn't truly there. She was used to the notion by now.
"I have yet to meet Athena or Dionysus. Of the family that was rightly focused on protecting Olympus, you are the first I have conversed with."
Completely true. And it never hurt to play to her relatives' ego a little. God's were a proud lot, Melinoë included.
There was no sign of Nike, Athena, Nemesis or other gods she would expect for a brewing conflict so perhaps it wasn't on the edge of beginning. There was plenty of fear in the air to catch her attention and then there was the reason that had her deciding to reveal herself to her cousin.
"I doubt it will be much longer. I was here to speak to a spirit assassinated and keep them calm before Hermes or Thanatos arrived to collect. They called for me first. Their final moments were praying to be reunited with their family in my father's realm. As soon as their physical body is discovered, I imagine there will be uproar."
"With Olympus under attack, I expected you to be focused on that as many of our family were." Another nod, and concession to his presence.
The war with Chronos had been trouble for everyone. There were several relatives Melinoë didn't get to meet that had met her brother; Ares, Athena, Dionysus just to name a few. And now, here they were, Chronos sealed away once more, and all able to return to their jobs to influence the world and the mortals. Ares can return to conflicts of mortals and revel in the bloodshed and Melinoë has begun to learn just what her sphere of influence is and how far it stretches.
"To the shades of Erebus and restless dead on the surface? Not so much, it was simply business. Better to temporarily end their suffering under Chronos' control than have them get in my way. But Chronos and his forces?" Here, he face split into a sharp smirk. "That was most enjoyable~ I may not have had the pleasure of receiving your boons-" It's always a good idea to play nice with her relatives; they were easily displeased and that was not a fight she wanted to have today. "-but I was lucky enough to receive assistance from many others who wished to see Chronos dealt with again."
She lapsed into silence again, simply listening to night creatures and enjoying the tingle of latent magic, knowing at least one of her comrades and family members were in the area. "What conflict has summoned you then, cousin?"
