grim reminders today how fucking obnoxious most of the got/hotd fandom is even on a fringe interest level with the single exception of alt shift x and glidus, who continue to fill me with joy with several hour episode commentary filled with excitement and joy and lore speculation

sjm writing the dance scene between eris and nesta, fake or not fake, is proof that she had it in her to write a good, soft romance for nesta where her and her partner have pure unparalleled chemistry that isn't based on the foundation of lust. after hofas, I hold out hope that the distasteful nature of nessians relationship was written intentionally. we give sjm a lot of shit, rightfully so, but I don't think she's entirely blind, ignorant or idiotic in what she writes.

A while back @naffeclipse answered a question from @boxofcreampuffs’s asking: “what would the boys do if they lost their vessel?” (This post)
@pure-plum came up with the adorable idea of the hunter sewing up a rag doll for the boys to settle in while they searched for a more suitable vessel for both the boys and their little hunter to enjoy.
Needless to say I fell in love with the concept and jumped to draw it immediately XD

They/them are not catch-all pronouns for all trans people.
If the person in question uses other pronouns, you are still misgendering them.
They/them is for A. people whose genders/pronouns you do not yet know B. hypothetical people C. people who actually choose to use they/them pronouns

"Oh, I don't like Minthara cause she's mean to the other companions."
Shut up. All of the companions are mean to each other. Did you just like, completely skip over the passive aggressive comments between Shadowheart and Lae'zel throughout all of Act 1? Did you just skip over the confrontation in which the two of them actively try to kill each other in the gayest, most homoerotic way possible? Or did you just make an exception for Minthara and decided she's the only one not allowed to be mean? Larian had to de-bitchify Shadowheart cause she supposedly was too mean in EA, and she's still a bitch in the release version (and I love her for it). For fucks sake, Astarion is the fan favorite and one of the reasons is because he's an ass to everyone.
"But but her third son comment to Gale is so mean and cruel!" Shadowheart literally tells Astarion he deserves to be publicly executed. You do not have a problem with companions being assholes to each other, you just don't like it when Minthara does it for whatever dumb reason.
Just another example that shows that people have either 1) never recruited her and don't know the full context of her comments and miss out on all the positive things she has to say for all the companions and/or 2) hold her to a standard that they do not hold the rest of the cast to when they are all guilty of the same shit.
To me, this is just a lazy excuse for someone who doesn't actually have a valid reason to dislike Minthara.

did you see chase strangio’s post defending kamala’s unwillingness to make a statement of unequivocal support for trans people lmao
its literally how Q Anoners talked about Trump. Kamalas SECRETLY doing a bunch of shit behind the scenes to protect trans rights guyze!!!!! she just cant say it out loud or show any fuckin sign of it bc then those conservative meanies would make political advertisements saying shes pro trans :( and we cant have that!!!!

i saw a post yesterday i think that was like "dnd got easier when i realized i was the author and not the character" and im still baffled about it like. is that not how you play every game?? you think when i play settlers of catan or monopoly or whatever i'm playing the way i, the human person would realistically react? no!! i am making cutthroat alliances with the other players at the table just for the Drama of it all when we all inevitably betray each other. are yall out here playing boardgames or even videogames as if you suddenly got isekai'd into them??

portland is the go-to city to make fun of online because to right-wingers it's full of degenerates and to left-wingers it's full of the Annoying (TM) type of queer people. this is why everyone found the fake portland polycule meme so believable, because they desperately wanted to believe in the mythos of a portland queer who's This Obnoxious.
but i DO need people who've never been here to know that this image is seeded in an actually-very-nice truth: queerness is Literally Inescapable here.
like. any given starbucks will have 30% to 70% of their baristas using nametags with they pronouns. you'll find progressive (if performative) signage in a dozen storefronts along any given street. it's the only place i've lived where i've met people who ACTUALLY ask EVERYONE for their pronouns, not just the "clockable" folks. i'm hard-pressed to go a week without interacting with trans women who are hostesses, bank tellers, receptionists, sephora consultants, etc.
right now i'm in a writing critique group that's spun off from a larger group of writers -- this one is made up about 50% of women (and one nonbinary rafi) & 50% men invited by said women (and nonbinary rafi) bc they passed the vibe check.
rafi and i are the only queer people in this group. but last week one of the men pitched a sci-fi story whose protag is a polyamorous woman sourcing bodies for the AI members of her polycule so they can be together irl.
i am NOT out as polyamorous and have never mentioned polyamory. this guy is in his late 60s or early 70s and is retired with his wife. he has an adult daughter. his outlook on polyamory and non-traditional relationship structures is nothing but positive.
i do not think i'd find this so easily living back in new hampshire!
