Leveraging Heatmaps for Strategic Website Optimization
Tumblr media
The strategic use of “heatmaps” has become integral to website optimization, propelling your digital strategy toward ultimate success. As part of a multifaceted toolkit alongside Google Analytics, A/B testing, and conversion funnel analysis, heatmaps provide insightful data on user interaction patterns, guiding you in creating a user-centric website design and experience.
Heatmaps serve as a visualization mechanism, translating complex data into easily understandable representations. They help discern where visitors’ attention gravitates when landing on your site and determine the probability of clicks on various webpage areas. Such insights become pivotal when deciding the strategic positioning of crucial links and the elements requiring linking on your site.
A specific category of a heatmap, known as the “mouse movement” heatmap, mirrors the path traced by a visitor’s mouse across your webpage. This type of heatmap holds special significance for internet marketers, offering a data-backed approach to pinpointing optimal placement for promotional information and advertisements. It should be noted, however, that quality often comes at a price in the realm of heatmap tools. Free offerings often fail to deliver the detailed insights you need, making premium, paid tools a wise investment.
Tumblr media
I personally recommend Crazy Egg or Contentsquare for comprehensive heatmap reports. Despite being a paid tools, both offer a well-balanced blend of affordability and quality, making them a reliable choice for businesses and individual users.
Utilizing heatmaps isn’t merely a passing trend; it’s essential to strategic decision-making in content creation and website design. A heatmap is a diagnostic tool unveiling a wealth of insights into how visitors navigate your web pages. These insights can significantly enhance your website’s engagement, steering the user journey down the conversion funnel more efficiently. Example below.
Tumblr media
A deeper dive into the heatmap territory introduces another valuable tool called ‘scroll mapping’. Scroll maps are an extension of heatmaps that offer insightful details about how far down users are scrolling on your web pages. This is crucial to understand, as it highlights the ‘fold’ – the point at which users must start scrolling to see more. Data from scroll maps can reveal whether crucial content or calls to action are being missed because they’re placed too far down the page. In fact, the ‘hottest’ areas of a scroll map often signify the most engaging or attention-grabbing parts of your page. Incorporating scroll map data into your design strategy can enhance your content positioning and overall website usability, ultimately improving engagement and conversion rates. Tools like Crazy Egg or Contentsquare offer robust scroll mapping features, further enriching your understanding of user behavior and website interaction.
Understanding your visitors’ behavior is key to successful website optimization. Heatmaps are the compass guiding you toward informed, user-centric design decisions. So, don’t underestimate the power of a well-analyzed heatmap; it could be the linchpin in your website’s success story.

head-in-the-clouds student essential tools (that’s me!!)
i always have study difficulties (before it was unsuitable environments and adhd symptoms and now pseudo-dementia from chronic depression 💀💀💀) and over the years, these are the tools that help me the most hehe. i hope these will help you as well whether you have difficulties or not :)

the tagline is "breaking things down do you don't". If you are, like me, easily feel overwhelmed by a task and doesn't know where to begin, this program will help you tremendously. it will break down a task into minuscule mini-tasks that feels manageable. you just need to add a task into the text bar, set the spiciness level (how difficult the task appears to you) and hit the add button (+) to add the task, and then hit the wand button. a series of smaller tasks will appear and you can start doing it one by one. the app is paid, but the website is free to use.

this add-ons will apply bold to words in a way that enhances its readability. I don't know how they do it, but i feel like i was reading faster and comprehend more by turning it on. I feel like my focus is improved, too. This was truly a game-changer for me. Im currently using its mozilla firefox free add-ons, but i think theres one for chrome and iOS as well.
brainscape flashcards
know a lot of people, esp medical students use anki, but i was unfortunately got distracted by the UI and the effort it took to organize things. so instead i use brainscape. it works similar way to anki with spaced repetition, with the bonus of more buttons to press and an animation screen that congratulates you on level achievements. the minus is that it has no cloze functions, no table function, no heatmap, no image occlusion, or image function really (unless u paid for a premium plan). definitely use anki and its myriad of add-ons first to see if it works for you. if the brain issues prevent u from thriving in anki, then use brainscape.

i tried a lot of pomo apps and i think this works for me best ^^ it also has a built-in forest app (ish) that i love. It also has a subtask function which is very helpful for easily overwhelmed little guys like me

there are a looooooooot of websites and apps that I use over the years (I literally started using coffitivity since 2014) and I have no tips on choosing them–you just gotta experience them to find what’s best for you. among my favorites are mynoise.net, coffitivity, focus@will, calmyleon, and jason lewis’s Mind Amend channel on yt. sometimes i also just put a full concert in the background and roll with it, though.

So... the thing that IMMEDIATELY stood out to me in Fit's Dec 30th lore stream was the use of the nocom heatmap:
Tumblr media
Like this is the exact version if the heatmap Fit uses in his 2b2t vid about the nocom exploit (which is a wild story in itself, please watch it if you haven't before).
But some musing about how nocom might be connected to the lore (which quickly spiralled into some theories about Madagio, the 2 Cucuruchos, and the eggs):
Nocom was an exploit that tracked players in real time, predict their movements, and allowed remote spying on physical changes to locations. Madagio being drawn in by the remenant signal of that could just be a nod to their interest in finding ways to collect information and why they would find Fit suitable for the job.
HOWEVER-- Nocom was built on a Papermc vulnerability that meant it could also work on other multiplayer servers that run it. While nocom was patched on 2b2t, that doesn't mean other servers have patched the vulnerability & the source code has been released by the creators. So Madagio could have been interested in going to 2b2t to get ahold of nocom to use on Quesadilla island so it could uncover the "secrets [it] must have at all costs"-- their POV when tracking down fit shows entity lines so they clearly have some tracking ability/tool.
Maybe they got the nocom code, but found they couldn't use it yet. It's been mentioned before that Fit tried hack clients on QSMP but they didn't work, and exploits get fixed pretty quickly to keep the server stable. Madagio said the only way onto thr island at the time was the Federation train-- presumably the Federation had thing heavily locked down and Madagio wouldn't be able to enter or run any sort of exploit.
2b2t's nocom was made possible because of social engineering-- Madagio could have hired Fit to collect information so it could find a way to successfully manipulate holes into the Federation's security and get onto the island/run nocom.
In the Dec 21st QSMP Info stream, Dark Cucurucho seems to be looking for something the Federation has hidden, and demands Cucurucho tell him where it is. Maybe Madagio is looking for the same thing? Nocom would theoretically allow someone to find hidden facilities/people anywhere on the server.
Where Dark Cucurucho seems tied to the Nether, and Cucurucho the overworld, its becomes pretty notable that Madagio has Fit go through a giant Ender portal.
Madagio being tied to the End also has some interesting implications if you think about the (ender?) dragon that supposedly inhabited the island & created the eggs. While the federation claimed the dragon left when the wall was blown up, there's no actual evidence it was there at the time. Perhaps Madagio is the dragon.
Fans seem to be interpretting the "i am a god" anagram of Madagio literally, which could fit with the ender dragon being a sort of godly being presiding over the End dimension.
BUT it may not be a literal dragon-- the eggs seem to be some sort of science experiements, so what if the anagram is a reference to a scientist playing god?
Maybe Madagio literally created the eggs from End-realm-DNA or something before fleeing/being kicked off Quesadilla, and the dragon story is just what the Federation made up to explain the eggs without having to bring up Madagio.
Maybe the experiements that led to the eggs were about opening up inter-server travel? Madagio said whatever made it leave Quesadilla also gave it server-hopping powers (powers which seems similar in reach to the Federation's ability to pull people to the island/send workers to other places).
The Federation can block interdimensional travel too-- we saw that with the Nether, which the residents eventually broke through with the train bug, implying hacks/bugs are needed to bypass Federation security.
Dark Cucurucho told Forever it wanted to leave, desired freedom, and that the Federation didn't want it to have that. Maybe the thing Dark is looking for is the thing that Madagio created that allows for interdimensional travel, which the Federation stole.
I think the only non-Federation example of cross-server travel we've seen is with the Watcher/Purgatory, but it may have actually been Dark Cucurucho who enabled that, not the Watcher. Aside from Dark being the one to give the residents their tickets to Purgatory via the dice game, Cucurucho claimed the recent security vulnerabilities were due to Dark, so maybe Dark found an exploit that allowed for limited interdimenisonal travel-- if it's tied to the creation of eggs somehow, maybe that's why there were 3 new eggs found on Egg Island?
The Unknown Egg diary Cellbit found could potentially be connected to Dark Cucurucho leaving & making contact with the Watcher prior to the purgatory arc, given the timing (about a month after the residents broke open the Nether, which may have created a door for Dark to get to the overworld despite Federation security and set things in motion). Maybe Cucurucho sent Cellbit to investigate because it suspected Dark was up to something? Cellbit assumed the egg's fate was the Federation's doing, but why would they send him to investigate it then? Maybe it was Dark making a cheap immitation of the Federation adoption center so it could travel, and then abandoning the egg once it had what it wanted?
Cucurucho also said that Dark didn't understand the potential of the eggs, which could explain why Dark would only be able to achieve limited travel.

As someone who doesn’t use Twitter and hasn’t used it since 2016, at this point I feel like every even slightly Twitter-esque (let alone overt Twitter-esque) design choice Tumblr makes gets yelled about because People Really Just Fucking Hate Twitter whether they realise it or not.
Which, like. Fair ‘nuff. I also hate Twitter, which is why I don’t use it. But nobody ever really gives these design decisions any time to percolate on this site in favour of kneejerk “they changed it and we hate it” reaction. Public likes are not new. Multiple tabs on a dashboard (some of them not things you opted into seeing) are not new. Having to block ads with external tools is not new (and it’s a big deal that photomatt said the words “ad blocker”, like, you couldn’t get that shit on any other profit-driven site, everyone is too scared for their precious monetisation)
The new sidebar, also, I think is pretty ugly right now but it’s probably going to go through a few iterations. I, personally, really wish they’d put the search bar literally anywhere else (maybe group search and discovery together IDK I’m not an UX designer) and I think accessing sideblogs has been too complicated for a while now, but none of those are the same as “this looks like The Other Blue Site”.
Like I’m not a graphic designer. I am certainly not a fucking UX designer, and I think those people are either all nuts or all geniuses. I’m pretty sure the new layout is being extensively heatmapped rn, and what changes it’ll undergo are gonna be done based on that, based on comments that are along the lines of ‘this change would make me more productive’ and less on “WEEEEEH CHANGE IT BACK CHANGE IT BACK CHANGE IT BACK”.
Your animosity towards change is not meaningful user experience information. You misclicking on shit more *is*. If this layout is really *that* bad and terrible, Automattic’s research tools will demonstrate it as such. The developers now are actually much better versed in Web 2.0 design, for better and for worse.
#van stuff#Also like yes I also hate the touchscreenification of desktop sites#as someone who does not have and does not want a touch screen computer#but that's not a design trend I get to dictate as I am in fact a minority user for this site#and the complaints I am tired of seeing are also coming from other legacy minority users of desktop#There are many good UX reasons to opt for a vertical layout instead of a horizontal one#and I think the majority reason is so that people who are on mobile and desktop simultaneously don't have to have two different brainmaps#for their muscle memory on this site#but like... the vertical sidebar is not the same as 'randomly swapping 'Close' and 'Post'' lol#the top of the screen horizontal bar still does things and there's way less empty space there now#and I get wanting negative space and less screen clutter#like... that's the ONE criticism of this update I can agree with#but that's STILL NOT THE SAME as 'arbitrarily fucking over the muscle memory of EVERY site user'#how many people on this site *ever* move out of their dashboard? I know I do!#but I think it's the minority of people considering the user-curated model of propagation this site is still#*actively* promoting#This site looking superficially more like twitter doesn't change that!#like the sky is not falling call me when they eliminate the ability to browse the tags in favour of a flat search#AGAIN#remember when we had that? Remember how *BAD* it was?#remember how much easier finding stuff became when we got 'browse tags' back as the default search?

The Significance of Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) in the Data Analysis Workflow
In the ever-expanding realm of data science, Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) stands as a cornerstone in the data analysis workflow. It is the preliminary step that sets the stage for more complex analyses, helping analysts and data scientists unravel the mysteries hidden within datasets. In this article, we will delve into the significance of EDA and how it plays a pivotal role in understanding, cleaning, and preparing data for further analysis.
Introduction to Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
Exploratory Data Analysis is the process of visually and statistically summarizing, interpreting, and understanding the main characteristics of a dataset. It involves techniques that allow analysts to gain insights into the data's distribution, relationships, and patterns, aiding in the formulation of hypotheses and guiding subsequent analysis.
Data Quality Assessment
One of the primary functions of EDA is to assess the quality of the data. Analysts scrutinize the dataset for missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies. Identifying and addressing these issues early in the analysis process is crucial, as they can significantly impact the accuracy and reliability of subsequent analyses.
Identification of Patterns and Trends
EDA provides a lens through which analysts can identify patterns and trends within the data. Visualizations such as scatter plots, line charts, and histograms offer a comprehensive view of the data distribution and can reveal underlying structures that might not be immediately apparent. Recognizing these patterns can guide the formulation of hypotheses and influence the choice of analytical techniques.
Variable Relationships and Correlation
Understanding the relationships between variables is essential in many analyses. EDA tools enable analysts to explore the correlation between different variables, helping to uncover dependencies and interactions. This insight is invaluable when designing predictive models or making data-driven decisions based on correlated factors.
Outlier Detection and Handling
Outliers, data points significantly different from the rest, can distort analysis results. EDA helps identify outliers, enabling analysts to decide whether to exclude, transform, or investigate these data points further. Addressing outliers at the EDA stage ensures a cleaner dataset for subsequent analyses.
Feature Engineering Guidance
Feature engineering involves transforming raw data into a format suitable for machine learning models. EDA aids in the identification of relevant features and potential transformations. By understanding the distribution and characteristics of variables, analysts can make informed decisions about which features to include, exclude, or engineer for optimal model performance.
Data Visualization for Communication
EDA often involves creating visualizations that not only assist in understanding the data but also serve as powerful communication tools. Visual representations make it easier to convey complex information to stakeholders, facilitating better decision-making. From bar charts to heatmaps, the variety of visualizations generated during EDA enhances the interpretability of the data.
Hypothesis Generation and Testing
EDA serves as a fertile ground for hypothesis generation. Analysts, armed with a deeper understanding of the data, can formulate hypotheses about relationships and trends. Subsequent statistical tests can then be conducted to validate or refute these hypotheses, guiding the direction of more advanced analyses.
Enhancing Model Selection
The insights gained from EDA play a pivotal role in selecting the most appropriate modeling techniques. By understanding the distribution of the target variable and the relationships between features, analysts can make informed decisions about which models are likely to perform well on the given dataset. This ensures that computational resources are allocated efficiently, leading to more accurate and interpretable models.
Time and Resource Efficiency
Lastly, EDA contributes to time and resource efficiency in the data analysis workflow. By thoroughly exploring and understanding the dataset upfront, analysts can avoid unnecessary detours and focus on the most promising avenues of analysis. This iterative and interactive process helps streamline the overall analysis, making the entire workflow more efficient and effective.
Conclusion
Exploratory Data Analysis is not merely a preliminary step in the data analysis workflow; it is a fundamental and integral part of the entire process. From ensuring data quality to guiding feature engineering and model selection, EDA serves as the compass that steers analysts through the intricate landscape of data. Embracing the significance of EDA not only facilitates a deeper understanding of the data but also sets the stage for more robust, accurate, and actionable insights in the dynamic field of data science.

[Actually] Automating my life
Day 16 - Nov 21st, 12.023
Another late post, another short post. I have to admit that the motivation of yesterday faded a little this morning, and things like today's heat didn't help me to get my laptop to work outside of home as I like. I'm still having trouble knowing what to do daily, but there's a reason: I need to work on my Obsidian setup and workflow, but knowing what to work when you don't have the tools to know it even harder. So in summary, it is a vicious cycle.
Thankfully today I was able to work on one of the steps of this setup: the weekly notes. These notes are meant to just get an overview in the start of the week and to schedule tasks of each weekday, said tasks are from the month's projects, and I'm really feeling that this can work better than my last workflow. Unfortunately this was what I mostly did today, because it is Obsidian, so I need to create/edit the templates from scratch, and a lot of the functionality is custom-made to myself and my setup, so it consumes a lot of time, which I hope that will be paid off when I start to work on projects themselves.
Tumblr media
The process is simple: create a weekly note, see what tasks the select project has, and schedule them to a weekday. And to always help me be in focus and know about data/information, things such as the current quarterly theme are informed, if there are other tasks not related to the project and/or overdue from the past weeks, if there are any events in this week, etc. I still need to add some "decor" to the note, like a progress-bar or info of how many tasks were done in the week, a heatmap on how the routine is going, etc. But the basic functionality is there.
Tumblr media
Compared with the previous it is a lot cleaner and organized also, hopefully now it will also be easier to add or remove functionality of the notes. Something which is a lot better to me now is that most of the note's logic is at the template level when it is created, so I'm less locked-in into Templater, Dataview or even Obsidian itself, because the end result is just a markdown page and I don't need to add backwards functionality for future notes, tasks, data, etc.
This is a very different post I have to admit, but it kinda returns to what I planned this daily journal to be, a log of how I'm improving in my productivity, project work, personal growth, etc. Now that I'm trying to actually work, more than just talking about how I need to work and build this workflow. Hopefully tomorrow I can complete this weekly note, finish the daily note, and maybe refactor a little of the code in the monthly note now that I found a better way to code the logic of the notes.
Today's artists & creative things
Song: You Will Be Okay - cover by Caleb Hyles I started to watch Helluva Boss since the first episode, and I think I never liked an animated series so much since then (to be honest I don't watch a lot of series, but whatever, it's still marvelous). And this song... fucking god... this song hit me hard when I listened it the first time, I don't know why exactly, but personally, it is not so frequent that I'm told that "everything will be okay, you will be okay" y'know? So highly recommend listening to it, the original or the cover which I recommended today, it just fits more the music style that I like than the original.

Performance Marketing: Optimizing ROI With 6 Performance Marketing Strategies
Tumblr media
Performance marketing has become the cornerstone of modern digital advertising. Unlike traditional marketing, where brands spend large budgets on broad-reaching campaigns with uncertain returns, performance marketing focuses on generating measurable results and optimizing return on investment (ROI). In this article, we will explore six essential performance marketing strategies that can help businesses maximize their ROI and achieve their marketing goals.
Data-Driven Decision Making
One of the key principles of performance marketing is the reliance on data. To optimize ROI, marketers need to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, including website analytics, social media insights, and ad campaign performance metrics. By harnessing this data, businesses can make informed decisions, identify trends, and refine their marketing strategies.
Tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel enable marketers to track user behavior, measure conversion rates, and determine the effectiveness of different marketing channels. This data-driven approach allows businesses to allocate resources more efficiently and invest in the channels and campaigns that deliver the highest ROI.
Targeted Advertising
Performance marketing emphasizes precise audience targeting. Rather than casting a wide net and hoping to catch the right customers, businesses can use advanced targeting options provided by platforms like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and LinkedIn Ads. These platforms offer demographic, geographic, behavioral, and interest-based targeting, ensuring that ads are seen by the most relevant audience.
By reaching the right people at the right time, businesses can increase the likelihood of conversions and improve their ROI. Targeted advertising also reduces wasted ad spend on audiences unlikely to engage with the brand, making it a cost-effective strategy.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization is a critical component of performance marketing, especially for businesses with an online presence. SEO involves optimizing a website's content, structure, and performance to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). When done correctly, SEO can lead to organic traffic growth, which often has a higher ROI than paid advertising.
By focusing on relevant keywords, improving website speed and usability, and creating high-quality, user-friendly content, businesses can attract more organic traffic and convert visitors into customers. SEO is a long-term strategy that can provide sustained ROI over time.
Email Marketing Automation
Email marketing remains a powerful tool for nurturing leads and retaining customers. With the help of marketing automation platforms like Mailchimp, HubSpot, or Marketo, businesses can create personalized email campaigns that target specific segments of their audience.
Automation allows for the timely delivery of relevant content, such as product recommendations, promotional offers, and abandoned cart reminders. By nurturing leads through automated email sequences, businesses can increase their chances of conversion and maximize ROI.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
Conversion rate optimization is the process of improving the user experience on a website to increase the percentage of visitors who take desired actions, such as making a purchase or filling out a contact form. A/B testing, heatmaps, and user feedback are some of the tools and techniques used in CRO.
By identifying and addressing barriers to conversion, businesses can significantly improve their ROI. Small changes to website design, copy, or call-to-action buttons can have a big impact on conversion rates and, ultimately, ROI.
Retargeting and Remarketing
Retargeting and remarketing campaigns allow businesses to re-engage with users who have previously interacted with their website or ads but did not convert. By showing targeted ads to these users across various platforms, businesses can encourage them to return and complete their desired action.
Retargeting can be highly effective because it targets users who have already shown interest in the brand, increasing the likelihood of conversion. It's a cost-efficient way to maximize ROI by capturing potential customers who may have otherwise been lost.
Conclusion
In an era where marketing budgets are closely scrutinized, performance marketing has become essential for businesses aiming to optimize their ROI. By adopting data-driven decision-making, targeted advertising, SEO, email marketing automation, conversion rate optimization, and retargeting, businesses can create efficient, cost-effective marketing strategies that deliver measurable results.
Successful performance marketing requires constant monitoring and adjustment based on performance data. As technology evolves, staying up-to-date with the latest tools and techniques is crucial to maintaining a competitive edge and continuing to optimize ROI. In a digital world where every dollar counts, performance marketing is the path to achieving the highest possible return on investment.

Online marketing can have a profound impact on consumer behavior, and in this post, we'll explore how.
First, online marketing provides businesses with an array of tools that allow them to track consumer behavior. This includes monitoring website traffic, social media engagement, email campaign engagement, and more.
By analyzing this data, businesses can gain insights into consumer behavior and tailor their marketing strategies accordingly.
For example, if a business notices that a particular product page on its website receives a lot of traffic, it may decide to allocate more resources toward promoting that product.
“When it comes to user behavior analysis in the world of online businesses, website heatmaps are a polar tool to visualize and understand visitor behavior data” – VWO’s Landing Page Guide
Second, it allows businesses to personalize their marketing efforts based on consumer behavior.
For instance, a business may use data collected from a consumer's previous search history to display targeted ads that are relevant to their interests.
This level of personalization can increase the chances of a consumer making a purchase.
“With changing consumer preferences, shifting buying behaviours, and rising customer expectations, marketers remain future-focused and cite “experimenting with new marketing strategies” as their #2 priority” – Salesforce Research [State of Marketing, 8th Edition, 2022]
Third, online marketing has made it easier for businesses to reach out to consumers in real time.
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn allow businesses to respond promptly to customer queries, concerns, and complaints.
This level of engagement can help build brand loyalty and improve customer satisfaction.
It’s important for businesses to prioritize customer satisfaction throughout every stage of the customer journey. This means ensuring that customers receive prompt, friendly, helpful service, and addressing any issues or concerns they may have in a timely and effective manner” – Level343
Last but not least, it has also made it easier for consumers to make informed purchase decisions.
Through online reviews and social media recommendations, consumers can get an idea of what others think of a particular product or service.
This can influence their decision-making process and impact their purchasing behavior.
"You already know your target audience, but do you know exactly what they do after seeing your company’s ad? The reality is you might have a good indicator of customer behavior, but sometimes you may miss the mark. AI can help you make a better inference" – HubSpot
