Finding clarity underneath the pain

An ear infection has robbed me of my focus, so only little progress is being made on proteins and DNA structure. Finished reading the chapter on the latter, and filled in a few index cards on the former.

Giving myself as much rest as possible. Tea, blankets, a sleeping cat at my side, perhaps some simple embroidery. Trying to be patient with the pain and discomfort, feeling through the self-pity and frustration without becoming irritable and anxious about my ear falling off 🙃

-> 🌿🌌 yoga has been great for knee recovery and meditation practice

🐈‍⬛ 🐈 New cat in the neighborhood out-fluffs everyone. Poor Pebbles is clearly impressed by the sheer volume of Mr. Darcy.

3. rebecca das musical

another iconic musical with pia douwes, and she is a villain this time. it tells a story of a lone orphan falling in love and marrying an older rich man and finding out she doesn't really know who he is. she lives in his house under the shadow and memory of his first wife, rebecca. it's an adaptation of daphne du maurier's horror novel of the same title, which is also one of my favorite book. this musical captures the enchanting and haunting and atmospheric quality of the writing so, so well, the way the film adaptations failed to. as expected of levay-kunze, the music score is absolutely beautiful and the duet of the two main female characters in act two are absolute BANGER. so vocally challenging and emotional it makes me breathless just listening to it. the props and staging are intricate and beautiful, as expected of eu musicals. here is the trailer and a highlight medley performance they did as a tv promotion to give u the feel of it. links to the full thing subbed: act 1 act 2

4. mozart l'opera rock

this one tells the story of mozart's life from the beginning to its end in a candid way. it has the most modern feel out of musical out of the four musicals here. both male leads are incredible and the score is fun and some horny, all very beautiful (keep an eye for the last songs of both acts!). symphonic rock perfection. here's the trailer and a special performance of one of the song with a choir accompaniment. here's the link to both acts subbed.

elisabeth das musical

his musical is about the life and death of the austrian empress, elisabeth, with her murderer luigi lucheni as the narrator. she is like her father but girl. she is so depressed that to her, death is personified as a lover. she fights and is true to herself until the end. as pia douwes, the main actress put it "it is about how to handle depression, but it's also about how to handle fame, how to handle insecurity, how you as a woman fight to maintain your standards." this is very much the darkest and heaviest musical i've ever watched so please refer to the trigger warning i put below the cut. also here is 1) the trailer and 2) one of my favorite song of the musical also the most disturbing. lastly here are the proshots subbed! act 1 act 2

2. tanz der vampire

a guy and his vampirology professor strive to save a girl who ran away to accept a vampire's midnight dance invitation. despite the visual of the thumbnails, this is a light and funny musical. basically a horror comedy with the most extravagant costuming and the eeriest, atmospheric, and beautiful music you've ever heard. one of the last bastion of classically evil vampires that want to eat you as well.if you don't feel like watching something heavy, i would recommend watching this first instead of elisabeth. here below is the trailer(s, i put two bc i couldnt decide which one is better, one has better music selection and the other contains my favorite actors) and a highlight medley for tv that is a MUST watch, the vampire portrayed there is played by my absolute favorite musical actor, drew sarich. he is the cuntiest Graf von Krolock out there and im so happy to tell you that we got the full show link subbed with him!

trigger warnings for elisabeth (pls read)

- heavy theme, but handled most gracefully (it helped me a lot to process my emotion about j before, it's honestly so good)

- theres 2 suicides, both visibly portrayed

- suicide baiting. theres a manipulative character called Death (as in the manifestation of the idea of death), who is always trying to get Elisabeth to kill herself, and later to her son when Elisabeth didnt indulge them

- a toddler death of sickness

- main characted has depression and it shows

- overall heavy and creepy vibe

my biggest advice to high schoolers who follow me here is just to chill and play with your friend. its sososo important to your development. make friends with as much people as possible, keep those who have the same mission as you, and honor the rest. your dream uni/placement isnt as hard to reach as you imagine it would
