Ordinarily, as a Satanist, I'm not a big fan of God, but I recognize that there are decent, law-abiding Christians out there who don't use their religion as an excuse to deprive others of their civil rights, and the fact that this woman stood up for guys like Matthew Shepard makes her a hero in my eyes. If I weren't so strapped for cash, I would donate.

I saw something in the news today that truly took my breath away. If you have been paying attention to U.S. politics over the past few days, you’ve most likely seen this woman:

This is Bishop Mariann Budde, and on Monday (Trump’s inauguration) she led an interfaith prayer for Trump and the incoming administration. During the service she asked him to have mercy for LGBTQ+ Americans and undocumented immigrants. This was badly received by the Trump administration (as expected).

After seeing headlines about this woman, I read something that I wanted to share. In 1998 a man named Matthew Shepard was murdered for being gay. I’m not going to get into the details of his death on this post, but please be warned it is extremely triggering if you do choose to read more on your own. Matthew Shepard’s death caused a lot of change in the U.S. regarding how LGBTQ hate crimes are handled, and laws that were passed to protect LGBTQ+ people.

Now you’re probably wondering what Matthew Shepard has to do with an Episcopal bishop. For years after Matthew Shepard’s murder, his family had held onto his remains, too scared to lay him to rest in fear of his final resting place being vandalized. In 2018, Budde had his remains interred at the National Cathedral, which is also the place where the interfaith prayer for Trump and his administration took place. The impact of this really had an effect on me. Budde could have led a non confrontational prayer service, and chosen not to mention the harm that will come to the people Trump and his administration are going after. Instead she chose to call out hate and fear in front of some of the most powerful people on the planet, and at a place that has such a large historic meaning to the LGBTQ community.

In the next few years there will be many challenges in protecting free speech, standing up against hate, and protecting those in our communities. But I would like to believe that for every Donald Trump and Elon Musk, there are people like Marianne Budde. There are those of us who can’t speak up for themselves, so it’s important for those of us who can to amplify our voices, even if it’s not the ‘popular’ thing to do.

Then something happens and Talia needs to get both Jason and Damian out of there, and so she gives 16-year-old Jason baby Damian and tells Jason to take care of him.

So now there's Jason with a baby, living a secret life in some apartment. He goes out with baby Damian and someone asks where their parents are. Jason panics and says that he's the parent here to get them to leave them alone. The word spreads that there is a teen dad living in the building. Jason now has to keep it up because it would look even more suspicious if he suddenly changed it up.

The old ladies keep pointing Jason at Damian and calling him baba, and one day, Damian turns his huge green eyes towards Jason and in the most clear pronounciation ever heard from an infants mouth says Baba.

Jason is in trouble.

“Hi baby.” Shen Qingqiu cooed at the infant. He was a bit embarrassed at how easily he melted around Yingying, but she was his daughter, and he figured he was allowed.

This time, however, he’d forgotten where he was. In the middle of a peak lord meeting, surrounded by wide-eyed, incredulous stares.

“Do you think he realizes we’re here?” Wei Qingwei mused loudly, wincing at a kick he got from one of his martial brothers.

“Shut up! Do you want him to?”

Qi Qingqi was usually never speechless, but today, it seemed she did not have any sour words in her for Shen Qingqiu, who she always passionately loathed. Her mouth was catching flies.

Most others seemed to feel the same. Liu Qingge sat frozen in his seat, staring. Yue Qingyuan seemed startled and…oddly wistful.

Shen Qingqiu was in his own little world. “Oh my goodness, you’re so chubby…” he lightly pinched at Ning Yingying’s little cheeks and gasping in delight when she let out a little squeal of delight.

“This has to be a hallucination,” Mu Qingfang muttered to himself, eyes wide. “Were we poisoned?”

Ning Yingying caught her adoptive father’s finger in her tiny fist and shoved it in her mouth, drooling happily all over it. Shen Qingqiu just laughed.

Meanwhile, a certain Shang Qinghua sat in his chair with his head in his hands as he mourned the death of the canon universe.

🩵 aventurine's hair is only wavy when it's humid - but coming from a desert planet, basically any humidity above 0% counts as such, so in effect it's now permanently wavy. (on sigonia it only showed when it rained, which was such an infrequent blessing that it was seen as good luck - which, at this point, is just another facet of that grand cosmic joke at his expense. permanently lucky, right?)

🩵 he doesn't hide his brand scar because it makes people visibly uncomfortable to see it, and he's never been a non-confrontational person. sure, he'll twist himself into all kinds of more palatable shapes in order to play a role or fulfill expectations - but there are some things he doesn't want people to be able to ignore. (if you want to look at me, you have to look at what the world did to me. you don't get to look away.)

🩵 he doesn't make it common knowledge that he never learned to swim; he'll happily sip mai tais under the shade of a beach umbrella, but no one's ever seen him get in the water. (ratio swims like a fish, but the "wet shirtless ratio" factor overrides any jealousy he might feel over this.)

🩵 he has mixed feelings about rain until he has to be In The Rain, at which point he becomes the world's saddest wettest cat about it. and yes, some of it's about evoking bad memories - but the sensation of cold wet clothes clinging to him is also just physically uncomfortable.

Si the batfan fandom keeps on saying how damian wayne is arabic and can speak arabic so because i am arab myself, i was curious what country he is from cuz all the information i get is that he is arab from his mum's side.

So i search what country his mum is from because if i search where he is from, he is technically not from that country having not been born there and it would just tell me his ethnicity is arab which i already know

Anyway the websites and everything i looked at is judt like "her dad is half chinease and arab and she is also half chinease and arab" and "her dad is half chinease and arab and was raised somewhere in the middle east" but like that gives me no information????? Like how come we get to know what part of asia she is from but not what part of arabia????!??like huh!???!
