National Rice Pudding Day
All we can think of is a bowl of some good old rice pudding this National Rice Pudding Day taking place on August 9. For many of us, starting from our childhood to our adulthood, rice pudding has been a staple in our diets. Made with a base of rice cooked in milk and sweetened with sugar, syrup, or honey, rice pudding can be found in many cultures and cuisines all over the world. Of course, each region has its own unique take on the dish. Some add nuts and spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, or cardamom to it, while others throw in a dash of wine to give it that wow factor. For a more fragrant look and feel, many people in the Middle East also add pistachio slivers and rose petals before serving it. You can have it hot or cold, and as a breakfast dish or a dessert after dinner. So, how are you having your rice pudding on August 9?
History of National Rice Pudding Day
National Rice Pudding Day celebrates the ancient rice pudding dish in all its glory and greatness. While we may know the sweet version of the dish today, did you know that it actually started out as a savory treat? It is difficult to pinpoint the exact location and time of the creation of rice pudding, but many scholars believe it may have originated in either ancient China or in ancient India. Both these countries have a long history of including rice as well as sugar in their religious and cultural activities, so it only makes sense that the combination of the two may have been included in their cuisines as well. ‘Kheer,’ which is Hindi for rice pudding, was first recorded in ancient India in 6000 B.C., and it was included as a staple in a prescribed Ayurvedic diet regime. It is also interesting to note that the early versions of the Indian rice pudding did not actually include rice or sugar. In place of rice, Indians made use of the cereal grain known as sorghum.
Elsewhere in the world, rice pudding was being made with rice. The grain had reached Europe through exports delivered by water or the Silk Road in the 1300s. Because it was being exported from Asia and was not being grown in Europe, rice automatically became extremely expensive. Thus, rice pudding could only be enjoyed by the elite and royalty of European countries. Before the 1500s, rice pudding was savory in nature. It was made with rice being boiled in a broth with saffron and almond milk. Chefs started including sugar into the dish to make it sweet, and soon a sweetened rice pudding started gaining popularity. It was in the eighteenth century that rice pudding became more commonplace and less expensive, all thanks to globalization. The lowered rice prices meant the grain was in easier reach of the masses, and in today’s world, it is considered to be a cheap, but filling meal.
National Rice Pudding Day timeline

17th Century Sweetened Rice Pudding Recipes
Some of the modern-age rice pudding recipes come from the Tudor time period, and are called ‘whitepot.’
18th – 19th Century Rice Becomes Cheaper
Rice grains become cheaper, allowing access to the public who can now enjoy rice pudding treats, unlike their predecessors.
How To Celebrate National Rice Pudding Day
Make rice pudding
Have a rice pudding contest
Try a new rice pudding recipe
Take a trip down memory lane and make your favorite rice pudding recipe. Because of its versatility, you can choose to have it hot or cold, and for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Rice pudding is one of the highest-rated comfort foods out there because of its gooey, yet grainy texture that leaves one filled with love and warmth.
Participating in a rice pudding competition is one of the best ways to celebrate the day. There are two ways you can go about doing this. You can either hold a rice pudding cooking competition or you can have an eating competition. Whether you choose one, two, or have both, it’s going to be a fun-filled day.
Going back to what is tried and tested can be comforting, but seeking out the new can reward you with invaluable experiences. Give new rice pudding recipes a try. It could be a sweet or a savory recipe, the choice is yours.

JOURNEY OF SELF DISCOVERY - update 3 / week 1
Getting more eager to not become a social recluse and the beach's resident angry man, Adarsh tries to spend less time in his head and more trying to be... nice? Regardless, the whole power thing is not working in his favourite because he's still in the shrinking camp of no-fucking-clue-what-powers.
goals
one goal finished: lucy knew the language I'm speaking is malayalam, from a region called kerala in india. so i am at least 90% certain now that i am from that region and that this is my language.
shoes and haircut will continue to have to wait.
still have not made it to the ship.
i am ashamed to write down that it is becoming more clear that something makes me want to fight people, not always physically.
findings
i suspected i was straight, but an interaction with this faux-famous guy has forced me to reconsider that, i am not sure i want to reconsider that.
i know english, hindi, gujarati, telugu, french, spanish, and malayalam.
after a long conversation with darcy, i feel there is a bigger posibility that maybe i am part of some greater plan, that or i am an accident.
the idea that this is not just temporary fills me with some odd kind of dread.
i am definitely very vain, if i do not find myself someone to cut my hair soon i will probably shave it off.
i hate being helped but i do not mind helping others.
pretty sure i was homeless before i got to the island so at least the bungalow and free food are a step up.
i like being taught new languages and new words.
i wonder if the amount of times i think about sex is healthy or not.
people
advice lady: told me that it is okay that i do not think i can help anyone but did offer to help me. i feel humbled. in a bad way.
famous guy: i think i was about five seconds away from kissing him, and i do not know how to feel about that. instead i punched him, so it is not like i stand a chance to figure it out.
darcy: i think we are friends?
elijah: very mentor-ly, seems to be chipper and at the same time very nice... i feel like i have been enchanted in a single conversation and can not think of anything bad.
doctor lady: bossy. i like that, i do not know why and at this point i do not want to know.
lindiwe: can see auras. called me beautiful. i am very confused.
lucy: i think she is into me but i also might be reading into this.
apollo: has a strange dress code.
luke: appreciates good food. this is a plus.
nina: i think she is looking for a partner in crime but i fear going with her will get me killed, how to proceed?
advice dude: may have killed him.

October 2023: Life Update
[Lifestyle] All I do is work, eat and sleep. If I have extra time to spend, that would go into cleaning the house a little or watching series until I fall asleep. I don't have the privilege now to eat good food everyday, I remember eating instant noodles and canned goods every single day (still experiencing now). I would eat fast food once as a reward, then go back to eating instant noodles and canned goods because that's what's convenient and what I can afford until the next payroll. Sometimes, I don't even want to eat, it's like I'm not longing for it, I could just drink water and be hungry until I feel weak and falls asleep. I sleep in an old sofa foam placed in a cold floor, every day my back hurts, I feel chilly and uncomfortable. I think my body is just not used to not having comfortable things in her life. My parents really spoiled me in life, gave me things so my everyday life was comfortable.
But I think, my state is now improving, I am financially being okay. Hopefully, I can afford a new comfortable bed with many pillows and a soft blanket. And a refrigerator, so I could stock food and just grab then cook. I could eat well! If I eat well that means I'm taking good care of myself, right?
[Relationship] Hmmmmm. Having difficulties with this one right here. I used to laugh when people say "Saka mo lang makikilala ang isang tao kapag kasama mo na talaga sa bahay." Don't get me wrong, I believed it when I was younger but never thought this is so fucked up when you're actually in the situation. And it really hits now. It's fucking real. Tbh, wouldn't dare to say I'm all healthy and fun to be with but right now.... The realest I could say is that this is not what I hoped for, not what I longed for, not what I dreamed of. I don't want someone to change so that we could work, I learned that "Kung hindi kayo swak, hindi kayo swak." even if that special someone change, it's not the same when someone really fits in your life, it would not feel like everything is working and acceptable. I just want everything to be easy, like how puzzle pieces fit in a board. My life is too much right now, to be stressed in my love life too. I don't have the capacity to cater the misery. I just want peace of mind, home, comfort, someone who will love me the way how I wanted to be loved, my all-or-nothing, my ride-or-die, the yin in my yang. Life is a fucking roller coaster itself, why want a relationship like one also?
I would love to have someone who I don't have to struggle translating myself with, I want someone who really knows me, the things I want, I need and deserve. I don't want to be the "guy" in the relationship. I want to be the baby. I'm busy trying my best to be mature in life but in relationship, I want to be the immature one, the one who always need to be cuddled and showered with love because someone thinks that's what I deserve. Someone who will be afraid to make me feel tired, hungry, or give me something to overthink about, because that someone already know I have too much burden to add more up. Someone who will make every thing he can possibly make lighter to help me lift this heavy life. I want someone who reads my soul. I want a man, someone who will take care of me. Not someone I should mold so that I could have the man I wished for. For once, I wish to have a man that is already molded, what I wished for. I'm no therapist, not a place to teach boys how to act and love. I'm so done with this bullshit. For once, I want to be the one who will be told how to act, be mature and be healthy in a relationship. To fix me... fuck, if someone could do that, hands down to that man already. This bitch ain't easy.
[Work] I am always proud of myself for not being dumb, you know? I learn fast, my intellectual capacity is something I boast off. I really like talking to intelligent people because it felt like the vibe is reciprocated, you know. Like for real, not to be a jerk. Worth my fucking time. But anyways, at work, I'm still an idiot. Don't mind me boasting since I am bobo right now, still learning and a beginner. But so far, by the comments given to me, I feel like I am exceling and coping good enough. I hope I will end this year at work with my sane self.
Enough na sana with workmates na Jollibee huhu, I can't even. Especially those who work too much to be recognized and takes credit then you will look like a tae lang na nakastay lang kasi walang dulot. Intellectual property is a critical issue. I'd rather work alone than work with toxic and unprofessional people, my patience can't even.
[Mental Health] This bitch is always on a mood swing. The instant change of physical/mental strength, mood, personality, walang makasabay sa agos ng utak ko pota. Anyway, my PCOS is the biggest contributor of this dilemma, couldn't choose to be nice for the better or to be fucking real and act/speak as I would please. The emotion burst, the instant cravings, the bloating, the constant "walang gana" phase. Tapon ko na sarili ko? Not very helpful for someone who is also a perfectionist, ga-hibla na nga lang pasensya ko, mas numinipis kapag wala ako sa mood tapos tanga yung kausap ko.
But I must say, I am at my most peaceful self right now that I am away from all noise. Mostly, I am alone, so I could only hear myself, which is sometimes also irritating but yeah, things are a lot better for my mental health. I can always blame myself only for all the hardships I'm having, the biggest relief. I am responsible for everything that is happening around me and inside me. A little easy to digest and solve since it's easier to forgive myself than other people if they destroyed or hurt me :)
I have a lot more to say, but I'm exhausted already. Bye.

LITERARY: Manananggal
Isa akong manananggal.
Hassle kaya maging manananggal.
Ano ‘yon bad hair day ako everyday?
Ang maganda pa rito ay within an hour may epekto kaagad. Swerte niyo dahil mayroon tayo ngayong buy 1 take 1 na deal basta sumagot ka lang ng survey tungkol sa lifestyle and diet mo. Ano pang hinihintay mo?

The term “predictive brain” depicts one of the most relevant concepts in cognitive neuroscience which emphasizes the importance of “looking into the future”, namely prediction, preparation, anticipation, prospection or expectations in various cognitive domains. Analogously, it has been suggested that predictive processing represents one of the fundamental principles of neural computations and that errors of prediction may be crucial for driving neural and cognitive processes as well as behavior. This review discusses research areas which have recognized the importance of prediction and introduces the relevant terminology and leading theories in the field in an attempt to abstract some generative mechanisms of predictive processing. Furthermore, we discuss the process of testing the validity of postulated expectations by matching these to the realized events and compare the subsequent processing of events which confirm to those which violate the initial predictions. We conclude by suggesting that, although a lot is known about this type of processing, there are still many open issues which need to be resolved before a unified theory of predictive processing can be postulated with regard to both cognitive and neural functioning.

The Charm of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi
Humor is an integral part of human life, and every culture has its unique way of expressing it. In India, one of the most entertaining forms of humor is the "Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi." These jokes, often known for their clever wordplay and puns, have a special place in the hearts of Hindi-speaking audiences. This article delves into the world of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi, exploring their charm, appeal, and some classic examples.
What are Double Meaning Jokes?
Double meaning jokes, also known as double entendres, are humorous statements that have two interpretations. The first interpretation is usually innocent and straightforward, while the second one is often risqué or suggestive. The humor lies in the dual nature of the statement, allowing listeners to enjoy the joke on multiple levels.
The Cultural Significance of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi
Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi hold a unique cultural significance. They are a testament to the rich linguistic heritage and creativity of the Hindi language. These jokes often rely on homophones, wordplay, and cultural references, making them a delightful challenge for both the teller and the audience.
In a society where direct discussions on certain topics might be considered taboo, double meaning jokes provide a playful and socially acceptable way to broach these subjects. They offer a form of comic relief that can lighten the mood and foster camaraderie among friends and family.
Why Do People Enjoy Double Meaning Jokes?
Wit and Cleverness: Double meaning jokes showcase the wit and intelligence of the joke-teller. Appreciating the joke requires a good understanding of the language and its nuances, making it a rewarding experience for those who get it.
Surprise Element: The unexpected twist in the interpretation often catches the audience off guard, leading to spontaneous laughter.
Social Bonding: Sharing and enjoying these jokes can create a sense of belonging and mutual understanding among individuals, strengthening social bonds.
Examples of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi
Here are some classic examples of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi that illustrate their cleverness and humor:
Joke: "Ek ladki ne apni maa se kaha, 'Maa mujhe naya phone chahiye.' Maa boli, 'Beta, shaadi ke baad milega.'" Explanation: The joke plays on the double meaning of the word "phone." In the first interpretation, it seems the girl wants a new mobile phone. In the second interpretation, the mother humorously suggests that the girl will get a "phone" (a husband) after marriage.
Joke: "Ek aadmi doctor ke paas gaya aur bola, 'Doctor saab, meri biwi bahut tez hai.' Doctor bola, 'Toh aap brake laga ke chalao.'" Explanation: The word "tez" in Hindi can mean both "fast" and "sharp." The man complains that his wife is "tez," implying she is sharp-tongued. The doctor humorously interprets "tez" as "fast" and suggests using brakes, as if talking about a vehicle.
Patni boli, 'Guess karo.' Pati bola, 'Pehle hi keh diya hota, khaana banane ki zaroorat hi nahi thi!'" Explanation: The wife asks her husband to guess what she has made, implying food. The husband takes "guess" literally, humorously indicating that guessing itself would have been enough without cooking.
Types of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi
Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi can be categorized into several types based on their structure and the nature of the humor. Here are a few common types:
Wordplay Jokes: These jokes rely on homophones or words that sound similar but have different meanings. Example: "Ek aadmi doctor ke paas gaya aur bola, 'Doctor saab, mujhe dawai dena, mujhe tandurust karna hai.' Doctor bola, 'Dawai toh de dunga, lekin tandoor nahi hai mere paas.'" Explanation: The word "tandurust" means healthy, but the doctor humorously interprets "tandur" as an oven.
Contextual Jokes: These jokes derive humor from the context in which they are told, often relying on situational irony. Explanation: The joke plays on the girl's smile causing "light," adding a playful romantic twist.
Pun-based Jokes: Puns involve a play on words that have multiple meanings or sound similar but have different meanings. Example: "Ek aadmi ne apne dost se kaha, 'Meri biwi mere liye sab kuch hai.' Dost bola, 'Meri biwi bhi mere liye sab kuch khatam kar deti hai.'" Explanation: The word "sab kuch" can mean everything, but in the second interpretation, it humorously means ending everything.
Societal Impact of Double Meaning Jokes
Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi have a significant impact on society. Here are some ways they influence and reflect societal norms:
Breaking Taboos: These jokes often touch on subjects that might be considered taboo in direct conversation. By using humor, they provide a safe space to discuss and acknowledge these topics.
Reflecting Social Issues: The content of double meaning jokes can reflect societal attitudes and issues. They can serve as a mirror to society, highlighting gender dynamics, social hierarchies, and cultural practices.
Encouraging Creativity: Crafting and understanding these jokes requires a good grasp of the language and its nuances. This encourages linguistic creativity and sharpens cognitive skills.
Comparing Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi with Other Cultures
Humor is universal, but the way it is expressed can vary greatly across cultures. Here's a comparison of Double Meaning Jokes in Hindi with similar humor in other cultures:
English Double Entendres: Similar to Hindi, English also has a rich tradition of double entendres. However, English jokes often rely more on linguistic subtleties and less on cultural context. Example: "Marriage is a fine institution, but I'm not ready for an institution."
Japanese Puns (Dajare): Japanese humor also includes wordplay known as "dajare." These puns often rely on the phonetic similarity of words. Example: "Ame futte, chi katamaru" (Rain falls, and the ground hardens - implying that adversity strengthens relationships).
French Calembours: French humor features "calembours," or puns, which are similar to double meaning jokes in Hindi but often rely on the intricacies of French pronunciation and grammar. (I am a storyteller, so I count - playing on the words "conte" (story) and "compte" (count)).

What is basmati rice? Basmati rice is a long-grain variety of rice that is primarily cultivated in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in India and Pakistan. The word “basmati” translates to “fragrant” in Hindi, which perfectly describes the aromatic nature of this rice.
How to Cook Basmati Rice: Cooking basmati rice requires a slightly different approach than other rice varieties. Here’s a simple method to prepare fluffy and fragrant basmati rice:
Rinse the rice: Before cooking, rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under cold water to remove any excess starch.
Soak the rice: Soak the rice in water for approximately 30 minutes to an hour. This step helps the rice grains elongate during cooking.
Ratio of water to rice: For every cup of basmati rice, use 1.5 cups of water. This ratio may vary slightly depending on the desired texture.
Cooking process: Bring the water to a boil and add the soaked rice. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15–20 minutes. Avoid stirring the rice during the cooking process to prevent it from becoming sticky.

CHAPTER 8
One month has passed smoothly. We are also done with our Volunteerism, and I enjoy it a lot. I met so many amazing people. We did our second volunteer work in a Kindergarten and took care of the kids. They are so cute and clingy.
The third one was on a beach, we did a clean-up drive. I don't know if I should feel amazed or devastated at how much dirt and trash we accumulated at that time. To think that we just leave those waste and dirt after we use the place for our own satisfaction made me realize how irresponsible we humans are.
For the last week of our Volunteerism, we planted a tree and fed the stray dogs and cats on the streets and I enjoyed that the most.
I could say it was the most peaceful and productive month, I didn't have time to think of any of my problems nor even have time to create and involve myself in one.
"Rae!" I took the receipt from the registrar before I looked at Ate Roxan.
"Ate!" I lightly wave my hand and smile at her.
"Nag enroll ka na?" I nod at her.
"Nga pala, I have a proposal for you." I furrowed my brows at her.
"Proposal? Ano naman yun, Ate?" I open my White Prada Cleo shoulder bag and put the receipt inside.
"Yes! pero bago ang chika, tara na muna sa cafeteria at masama na lagay ng mga bituka ko sa tiyan. Kanina pa galit na galit sakin." I laughed at her.
"Bakit naman kasi hindi ka kumain, Ate?" She shook her head
"Eh paano ba naman kasi nadagdagan ang timbang ko ng dalawang kilo. Ang taba taba ko na! Jusmiyo! Ang hirap pa naman mag diet." I slightly surveyed her body.
She actually looks sexy with her blue jeans and a Celine crop top shirt. It emphasizes her body. But of course, that's her body. What she thinks shouldn't be invalidated.
"Diet is fine, Ate. But do a healthy diet ah. Don't deprive yourself of food." She just rolled her eyes and encircled her hands on my arm and led me to the cafeteria.
"So what's this proposal you're talking about?" I sipped on my Iced tea.
"Well, you know that two weeks from now will be the start of a school year right?" I ate my smashed potato and nodded at her.
"Well, I am now a graduating student and naghahanap na din ngayon ang adviser natin sa Youth ng new set of Officers. Since I'm the internal VP and the head of our committee, I needed to have a candidate for that position." She explained.
So that is how this organization works. The previous officer will choose who they want to replace in their position. I never knew this because I don't usually participate in executive matters. I only engage myself in hosting and other minor roles.
"And... you're telling me this because?" I raised my eyebrow at her.
"I am choosing you as a candidate for my position." She said it like she was just talking about choosing her outfit for the day.
"Why me? I only joined the organization last year. I don't even know if I am fit for that." I am now leaning closer to her.
"But I know. " Hindi ko alam kung dapat ba akong matuwa o matakot sa kasiguraduhan ng boses niya.
"You only have been in a Youth club for one year but you have already done a lot of things. You're the one who's doing the hosting, you give reliable and helpful opinions. You do often suggest things and innovative ideas we can do that we didn't even think of. You are smart and hands-on and not to mention beautiful. "
I furrowed my brow even more.
"Anong connect nun?" She smiled at me.
"Maganda kang assets sa club, you are our ambassador nga eh! I have been observing you for one year even si Alisson, hindi mo man nakikita but you inspired us to be good and to do better. I can see you leading this organization, Rae."
Why are they observing me? Now that makes me really conscious now.
"But I haven't led someone or anything before. I don't know how to do it."
Ako ang nagbibigay ng ideas and nag pe-present but I never dare to call myself a leader. I don't think I will be able to do that.
"Ganon naman talaga sa simula. Wala tayong idea kung ano at papaano ang gagawin, and that makes it more exciting!" I shook my head at her.
"I'm scared," I said in a low voice and stared at my iced tea.
"I remember when we interviewed you with Alisson, naalala mo ba?"
I nodded my head as I remember the first time I met them. It was an interview with the students who wanted to join the organization.
"We asked you why you wanted to join this club and you said because you wanted to go out of your comfort zone. You feel like all of your life you are caged in something you're not. And do you remember the second time I asked you why you joined this club?"
I pursed my lips trying not to cry and lightly nod my head.
"You said you wanted to heal yourself." She whispered.
"Rae, don't you think it's about time that you fulfill those reasons? I get that you're scared, it's normal. But you can't always be scared all the time. You need to face it, that's the only way you can make progress." She held my hand and grip it lightly.
"And you know, years from now you might thank yourself for jumping and taking the risk. It's about time to get out of your comfort zone. It's about time to try new things and embrace the unknown. It's about time to unleash what's within you."
She wiped my tears with her thumb and smiled.
"I don't want you to feel like I'm pressuring you. I just thought you might need a little push, I'm sorry if I seemed like I'm stepping out of line."
"No, no. It's fine, you're right. I shouldn't be scared all the time. I just got so used to not taking accountability for so many things because of fear. I feel like it's the one that is caging me, the one that's delaying my healing. " I wiped my tears and laughed a little.
"Fear isn't always a bad thing, It's not always there to be our enemy. It's actually there to make us understand who we really are and what kind of person we want to be. It's there to make us realize that we are limitless. Fear is designed for us to let go and we can only do that if we are bold enough to free it. Now, Stop crying na at baka isipin nila pinapaiyak kita."
"Thank you, Ate." I told her before I opened the door of my car.
"Pag-isipan mo yung proposal ko ah. You have two weeks. Don't worry, I will support and be with you whatever your choices will be." She bid her goodbye to me after that.
Kaya ko ba?
Will I be an effective leader?
The position that ate Roxan wants me to take is a bit overwhelming. Mabigat ang trabaho ng isang VP Internal. What if hindi ko magawa nang maayos ang trabaho ko? What if madissapoint ko sila?
"Lalim ng iniisip natin ah."
I looked at my side and found Benedict leaning his arm on the rail on his balcony while holding a mug, which must be coffee because of its strong aroma.
I sipped my Passiflora Incarnata tea and bore my eyes on the city lights in front of me.
"May problema ba?" I sigh and put my mug down on the table beside me. I grip my jacket as I feel a cold breeze hugging me.
"Do you think I could handle an organization?"
I asked him. I suddenly shifted my gaze at him when he gasped. His palm is now in his mouth and he is looking at me with a wide eye.
"Why?" I furrowed my brows.
"Gagi, kaya ba sobrang yaman niyo dahil anak ka ng mafia boss?" Tinuro ako nito at hindi ito makapaniwala na nakatingin sakin.
"What are you talking about?" I eyed him with a confused look. Anong mafia pinagsasasabi niya?
"Organization... diba?"
"That's a school organization, dumbass!"
He sigh in relief at hinaplos haplos pa ang dibdib nito na wari mo'y pinapakalma ang sarili.
"Aba'y malay ko! Linawin mo naman kasi, Señorita." I rolls my eyes at him at aalis na sana.
"Oy saan ka pupunta? Bat ka aalis? Nag-uusap pa tayo kaya." Parang bata nitong sabi.
"Oh really? Ang ayos mo kausap ah." Nilagok ko ang huling patak ng tea sa mug ko at nakakunot ang noo kong binalingan ito.
"Luh, tampo yarn?" He pouted.
"Sorry na, Señorita. Hindi mo na ba ako mapapatawad niyan?"
Hindi ko alam kung nagbibiro pa din ito dahil sa ayos niya.
"When you said school organization, is that what you are volunteering about for those past few weeks?"
I just nodded at bumalik sa pwesto ko kanina. Mukhang seryoso na ito. Buti naman.
"What do you mean to take a lead? Like, be their President or something?" I shook my head.
"No, the position that they are proposing to me is Internal Vice President." I don't know if he understood what I'm saying but I saw him nod his head.
"Hindi ba dapat sarili mo ang tanungin mo or i-assess kung kaya mo ba i-take yung posisyon na yun? I mean kung sakin or sa iba kasi mangagaling magiging clouded yung judgement mo sa sarili mo." Panandalian itong natahimik.
"Do you want to take that position?" I bit my lip.
"Yes."
I do. I always want to try to take huge role like that pero lagi akong napipigilan ng takot.
"Then what's stopping you?" Lots of things...
"You are Avalyn Rae Trinidad, the daughter of Don and Doña Francisko Trinidad. The heiress of all the lands in Nueva Ecija. A smart and a perfect daughter. Parang wala kang hindi kakayanin. Masungit nga lang."
Narinig ko ang huling salitang binulong nito kaya naman napairap ako.
"You know, taking a lead or being in that kind of position takes a lot of responsibility and courage. It's actually not all about me, but the people that I will lead. You can't even consider someone's intelligence or perfection as a factor of qualification for that position because there is no such thing."
I slightly shook my head.
"I am worried na baka hindi ko sila mai-lead sa tama, na baka hindi ang katulad ko ang leader na kailangan nila. Na baka may mas better, yung magagabayan sila, right?"
I look at him and to my surprise, he is just watching me and looks like he is not listening to every word I say.
"Are you even listening?" I raised my brow at him. He lightly blinked and smiled at me.
"You are qualified." I furrowed my brows
"And how can you say that? I told you being smart isn't a fact-"
"Iniisip mo an agad kapakanan nila, you are now thinking about what's the best in your school organization. You are worried that you might not be good enough to lead them but you are. You just haven't seen it because you haven't tried it. " He said while looking at me intently.
"But what if I made a mistake? What if I disappoint them? What if they might think that I'm not the person that they were thinking of? What if they don't like me?" Patuloy ko pa.
"What if they do?" He raised his eyebrow at me.
"What if you successfully lead them? What if they needed someone who would inspire them and that's you? What if you didn't take the position and someone bad took it? What if you stop thinking of bad things and replace them with positive things? Hmm?"
"Those questions in your head won't be filled with answers until you study them and solve them on your own." Natahimik naman ako sa sinabi nito..
"Why are you here?" I suddenly asked dahil wala na akong maisip na sabihin kasi natumbok na niya lahat. I heard him chuckle and sip his coffee.
"I was planning to stargaze." I looked above and there were no stars in the sky.
"Too bad, there are no stars," I said while I was still looking at the sky.
"Meron." Lumingon ako dito.
"Eh? Wala naman ah, may nakikita ka ba na hindi ko nakikita?" I asked him and tried to extend my eyesight by moving around my balcony to look for the star that he is talking about.
"Yeah, I'm actually looking at her right now." He said in a low voice. I slowly look at him and saw how intently he's been watching me kanina pa.
The rain starts to pour together with our feelings. One that has been denying it for so long, and another who has been trying to put it off and is now becoming clear that he is lost.
