You should’ve see my face when I read ‘feminine’. This is why you will never get me to join that fandom. Do they not know that Shonda Rhimes is a BLACK woman who has made it her mission to be the sole reason why loving v Virgina doesn’t get overturned that woman lovers her a swirl. You’re not going to get a same race relationship out of her for main character. Also Micheal is John’s cousin why would he be white.
And let me stick this one here talking shit about this fandom I’ll drop this screenshot here. Let’s not try to remember what twitter thread or tweet this was from it’s two years old. Saying that Simon was a dark skin lead is crazy and they knew that not what op meant by dark skin women
#anti bridgerton#anti bridgerton fans#bridgerton#fandom racism#don’t read to much into to the tags#and ppl wonder why rege jean page left and won’t come back hell marina left because she had to put herself in a mental hospital#but this is the fandom she cultivated and wanted ig#if she wanted a more ‘tame’ fanbase she would’ve adapted a regency era book from a black author not one that was racist#but then again she did create greys anatomy and we all know how that fandom is#they wanna say the quiet part out loud with tiptoeing around so bad#every regency era show with black fans are racist because the buccaneers ppl hate alisha bø’s character for breathing#and someone on tiktok just abt called the mixed dude a slur and told the main character to go with theo so she could live a fantasy#remember when ruby baker (marina) said that the ppl behind the show did nothing to protect amongst other things#and ppl said she was being ungrateful and were chewing her up unintentionally proving her point#you can only see ppl calling and being excited for you characters to die of suicide for so long before it gets to you#remember when ppl were arguing with ppl who said it would be in bad taste to kill off marina via suicide#when her actor was going through mental health struggles then those same ppl when they found out she was leaving#got excited because it meant that the show was sticking to the book and going to kill her off even tho she left for mental health reasons#possibly brought on by this horrible fandom

Have not gotten this communique yet but management loves to say "How can we support you?" [hostile/passive-aggressive] when you're sick Too Much and if they pull this maneuver on me I will answer in deadly earnest and tell them to mandate masks in the store. Like I am getting sick all the time because I have shitty lungs and a shitty immune system and work retail and nobody ever wears a mask or takes any precautions except one coworker from my cohort lol. I 100% got strep from a customer at the bookstore who was coughing and sneezing and wiping her nose on her bare hand then handing me books she'd been holding with that hand and coughing/sneezing on. I remember this because she's gorgeous and a regular and my internal monologue went "oh I am 100% going to get Sick from the beautiful Greek woman named Stefania, this is divine retribution for time theft" lol

GOOD Meat, a company that grows chicken and other meat from animal cells without slaughtering animals, has cleared a significant Food and Drug Administration safety hurdle. The clearance brings the company one step closer to selling its products in the U.S.
The regulatory agency issued a "no questions" letter as part of its pre-market consultation, which means the agency agrees with the company's conclusion that its cultivated chicken is safe to consume.
Now, the company must obtain a grant of inspection from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to operate its production facility in Alameda, Calif. "We are working with the USDA to clear that last hurdle," GOOD Meat CEO Josh Tetrick told NPR by text.

Baz raises an eyebrow.
Ok so I think about this line a lot:
"You should eat something," I say. He raises an eyebrow at me. “Oh, piss off.” (CO pg 330)
Like, I've always been curious what exactly Simon thought Baz was implying with that eyebrow raise, you know?
In WS, we get this from Baz:
I raise an eyebrow, which is my go-to move when I want to look cool but don't have anything cool to say. (WS pg 272)
Relatable! Is this *always* the reason behind Baz's singular raised eyebrow, though?
He's looking at me like I'm a complete freak. .. His right brow is arched so high, it looks like it's broken free of his eye. (CO pg 240)
Post magic-sharing dragon fight - here, I think the eyebrow raise reflects genuine surprise - altho we know Baz is also feeling the aftereffects of Simon's magic - “being struck by benevolent lightning.”
She frowns at Baz–”Hot.” He grins, hitching up that eyebrow again. (CO pg 244)
Alright, this one is definitely innuendo.
Then, sister, he cocks one of your eyebrows at me. (CO pg 308)
Very cheeky!
He cocks an eyebrow and stares at me, like figuring out what's wrong with me is something he'll never have enough time for. (CO pg 390)
Idk Simon, I think he's truly startled again - definitely a candidate for “I want to look cool but don’t have anything to say.”
"You don't have x-ray vision." Baz raises an eyebrow. (CO pgs 491-492)
Cheeky! Flirty!
Baz's eyebrows are at maximum up and down positions. (WS pg 40)
A delightful description of the single raised eyebrow, and an eyebrow that is surprised bordering on impressed.
My eyebrows drop, in suspicion, then I slowly raise the left one. (WS pg 97)
I'm gonna categorize this one as surprised bordering on flirtatious. (Oh, and Baz’s lowered eyebrows might warrant their own separate post.)
"You can't be serious," I say. He cocks an eyebrow at me in the mirror. (WS pg 229)
Oh, he is dead serious. (Undead serious?)
I raise an eyebrow. "A picky eater?" (WS pg 281)
This one’s not NOT flirty.
He tips his head back and cocks a thick eyebrow. "I don't think I said always." (AWTWB pg 226)
Now THIS is where "figuring out what's wrong with me is something he'll never have enough time for” comes into play...
Baz cocks an eyebrow above the frames. "I don't think this is what Lady Salisbury had in mind when she lent us her heirloom reading glasses." (AWTWB pg 323)
Playful, flirty, Baz’s eyebrows are an entire category of banter unto themselves.
Which brings us back to this!
Can’t think of anything cool to say, Baz? Surprised? Or... could it be...
flirting?!??

thinking about frankenstein and the untamed parallels, since they're both about heretic grave robbers, and tbh it's kind of interesting thinking of it from a birth myth narrative.
a lot of the horror of frankenstein revolves around the idea of man creating life being an abomination (in contrast to the way women naturally give life. 'birth without the gendered body')
(Breaking News: Mary Shelley CANCELLED for terf rhetoric/s)
haha but yeah it's interesting to think of frankenstein as a birth myth. or a way for Shelley to grapple with her traumas surrounding pregnancy while removing the specifically feminine aspect of it, much like we use Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics and mpreg today.
And you know what Wei Wuxian—another a heretic necromancer— likes to claim? "This is my son, I gave birth to him!"

saw a post the other day about what kinds of off-the-grid activism modern au xxc and sl would be doing and someone was like 'oh they'd work at a nonprofit then donate most of their income anyway!' listen I don't think you know about the nonprofit industrual conplex because that is NOT working outside the system
#xxc and sl modern au food not bombs drifters living out of their car probably#well rogue cultivation IS a legit way to sypport yourself it's jus freelance and xxc literally lived off the kindness of the village#so. freelances maybe#but xxc ALSO has connections to a powerful um. medical facility#?. like it's not a political entity. it's like a commune with great...health care...#man idek#how does one translate the immortal mountain of baoshan sanren to a modern setting#maybe she's just an old anarchist living in the woods with her commune#cql txp

a bunch of people have already registered for my mentoring workshop! unfortunately this means i have to plan and host a workshop aaaaaa
#i want to think aloud through it on here at some point#but i think i am going to structure it around the theme of cultivating student autonomy#because i think one of the primary goals of mentorship is to prepare students to be self-directed learners who can set realistic goals +#evaluate their own progress + reflect on what they've learned and what they still don't know#+ take initiative without sitting around waiting for someone to tell them what to do next#so i think we will do some thinking around like#when we have a student we think of as really capable or driven what qualities and behaviors do we observe in that student#and maybe ill also share some of the research on intrinsic motivation + self-direction + locus of control#which i think is all really interesting esp in light of the contemporary College Mental Health Crisis concerns#and then we will look at a range of tools + structures + strategies that i think are useful for fostering student autonomy over time#and maybe leave them with some core principles/guiding values that i think are useful when you are trying to like#avoid jumping in and doing stuff for kids#or solving their problems for them#idk i need to think through specifics a bit more#but i feel like on this campus#people do a lot of 'workshops' that are really not interactive at all#it's just someone talking from slides#and i kind of want to show off my ability to structure more engaging workshops#but idk. gotta think about how to do it well#and how to build in lots of opportunities for like crowdsourcing strategies too

December and most of this month have been me with my hands cupped around the will to words like it’s a tiny flickering flame in the midst of a typhoon. Teeth gritted. Eyes squeezed shut.
A sentence here. A paragraph there. A feeling. A scene. Little more than that.
But in the last week or so, the typhoon seems to have started easing off. The flame has gained some ground. Consumed some kindling.
Tentatively, I think - maybe - I’ve turned a corner. Maybe. At least I feel like writing, and that’s nice in and of itself.

Children need to when small be given a chance to recreationally beat the shit out of their parents or otherwise close adults in the context of play at least a week I'm so serious about this. Helps get out all that energy teaches them to differentiate fight play from fighting to hurt and bonds them to the adults in their life and gives them a chance to feel strong and in control. I will die in this hill and then haunt it

Is there like, some TikTok trend going on right now?
Going to work there was almost three separate accidents, first someone pulled out of a complex into oncoming traffic, cut off into the fast lane and then stopped dead before crawling forward. Managed to get around them and there were four people in the car laughing hysterically while recording the cars going around them.
Then someone in a van just stopped dead in the far right, merged over while stopping in each lane, all the while the passenger was recording all around them, until they were in the far left lane where they made an illegal left turn. (Edit: note this was like, 20 minutes later)
(edit: and another 15 or so minutes after that)Just as I got to the light before work, there was a car stopped in the middle of the road about four car lengths away from the light with some kid sticking out the sunroof recording the cars honking around them.
#im really having a bad mental health day over this#the culture of video social encouraging cultivating and nurturing such extreme narcissistic behavior#is everywhere and its endangering lives#and no one seems to care#my aunt died a few days ago. her funeral is today but im not allowed to go because of work#but tbh#i kinda envy her#she doesnt have to deal with this shit anymore.#doesnt have to see it doesnt have to deal with it doesnr have to think about it
