I was looking through my ask box to answer old asks, and I found this one from 2018.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the context of this, but it made me laugh (I read it in the clown horn sound effect sound), so I wanted to post it.

omg omg it’s @inuvember day 19: Inuyasha & Kagome

I didn’t have anything planned so I threw this together quickly. Here’s some super rushed and rough art and a drabble from an AU I’d like to call “What If (we made out all over Feudal Japan)?” where… well…… I think you get it.

What If?

Kagome sucked in her lips, biting down on them from inside with nervous uncertainty. He wasn’t doing well. 

If a quick kiss worked to heal him, just a little bit, then… What would a longer kiss do? Work the same? Work better? 

“C-can I try… the thing?” she asked. 

“Kiss me?” He asked, barely able to focus on her. 

“You lost so much blood, and the poison is–”

“I’m human, I dunno if it’ll work.” 

“I know, but I have to try something.” She was blinking back her tears.

Even blinking felt like work. “Yeah… okay.” 

Kagome bent down and turned his face gently to hold it with a trembling hand. 

Please let this work, she thought desperately as her lips settled over his chapped ones. Instead of pulling away quickly as she did the times before, she lingered, pressing a little harder too. Please work, please work, please work. 

Tears fully glossing her eyes, Kagome finally pulled back just a little. She clung painfully onto the bit of hope in her heart. 

“Anything?” She whispered as a heavy drop fell. 

“I dunno… but that was… nice,” he sighed. 

She pouted, voice thickened by a stuffy nose from crying. “You said it was gross to kiss me.” 

Inuyasha furrowed his brow, like he was trying to remember. “Sorry. That… was a lie…” 

A blush erupted onto her face. Was that…? Was he being sweet? “Oh god, you’re delirious aren’t you? You’re–” 

“Kagome,” he interrupted. “I think…” 

She heard a light scratch at the floor and saw his hand shift. “You can move?” she gasped, the hope suddenly bursting. 

“Yeah, I’m starting to get some feeling back. I think it worked a little.” 

Kagome practically leapt back onto him, kissing him fiercely with both hands cupping his cheeks. She pulled back and kissed him again and again until she felt him grip her arms. 

“Woah there, Kagome.” 

She only moved back a few inches. “It worked, right? So—“ 

His face was redder than his haori. Hers follows his example. 

“Yeah,” he mumbled, pushing himself to sit up slightly. “It’s working, alright.” 

Clearly the numbness was fading and her tactics were effective. That didn’t ease their embarrassment. 

She nearly huffed, “What’s the problem?” 

“Just give it a minute. No amount of kissing is going to turn me back into a hanyou, so we’re still screwed until sunrise.” 

“I’m still mad at you about that. You should’ve told me. You should’ve trusted me with that much! Now we’re here.” She wanted to shout, but with Shippou and Nazuna sleeping in the corner, she kept her words to an angry hush. Still, the overwhelmed tears caught his attention. 

He pursed his lips. “Why were you—are you—crying?” 

Kagome let out an indignant sound. “Because I’m frustrated and scared! I thought you were going to die, I thought we all were going to die. We still might. This sucks!” It was a childish way to end her sentiment, but screw it! It did suck! 

“Why… did you kiss me?” 

She almost sputtered. “Because I need you to get better!” 

“To save you?”

“To not die, you idiot! I don’t want you to die! Obviously!” She scrubbed her face angrily. Why was he being so weird? 

Then he spoke, soft but firm, “One more.” 

Kagome blinked. “One more what?” 

“Time,” Inuyasha said, and without warning pulled her closer to lock their mouths together. 

And he was right. 

It was nice… His lips have warmed up, even though they’re dry and rough. It’s the first time that this feels mutual–not just contact between two bodies. It feels almost like this is real…

“Sorry,” Inuyasha muttered when they came apart. “I still couldn’t feel my toes.” 

Funny, since Kagome felt hers tingling—her toes to her spine, to her fingertips, to the very top of her head. 

She felt out of breath when she asked him, “Do you feel better now?”

“Yeah,” his hand came up to her cheek. “I can feel things again.”

Inuyasha x Kikyo, Sesshomaru x Kagura

getting my rating out of the way: TWO OUT OF TEN BABYYYY!

here's the thing - i think inukik's dynamic is interesting because of the restraint. the distance between them despite their perceived kinship. souls brought together because, in kikyo's words, they both know loneliness.

but that isn't really true. inuyasha is alone, kikyo is lonely, and it's this disconnect that makes them incompatible. on the surface, they share many traits that stem from similar issues. both are distrustful, both have to hide their "true selves" under masks of either prickly disdain or stone-cold apathy. and the deal they make about the shikon jewel is really where it clicked for me how much they just don't work, because before kikyo can get to know the real inuyasha, beyond pre-conceived notions, he has to strip away a part of himself. he has to become human. and a huge, huge reason as to why inuyasha is the way he is is because he's a hanyou. who will he be after a transformation like that?

inukik shippers like to prattle on about how inuyasha and kikyo are super tragic and deserved better, but can we actually think about what that means? what would their relationship be like if things had gone according to plan? you have inuyasha, whose just given away a crucial part of himself, simultaneously tentatively happy to start a life with someone but also completely lost because he doesn't know how to be a lover, how to be a husband, hell, he barely knows how to be a friend - is that what they once were? friends? he doesn't know how to adjust to humans who would have once shouted and thrown things at him. he feels the fleshy things around his ears and wonders how he can still possibly feel deaf when he has them. he hates how he can't see his own hands in the dark. he hates the unspeakable and unexplainable human aches.

and kikyo is free. she still heals people, of course, but she no longer has to deal with the burden of the shikon jewel. and now she has a companion to share it all with. he's always so frustrated, and she can't understand why beyond the fact that he's a little weaker now. they're so careful with each other, too. they didn't know how to hug or hold hands or touch when they were meeting alone back then, so they don't know how to kiss, either, as husband and wife.

i can't see them fighting. i can't see them bickering or having a playful spat and that, to me, is a problem. one of the reasons why i love inukag so much is that we see them fight all the time, but they always come back stronger regardless. their feelings don't waver. and because of the honesty in their arguments, they learn each other's tells and ticks. the small details. they aren't afraid to get into a debate, because their love is strong enough to withstand it.

when i think of inukik, i think of walking on a wire.

besides all this conceptual stuff, we do get inukik in the show, after her forced resurrection. and this is where you totally lose me. any potential interest i could have had (and there was none to begin with) goes down the drain with lines like, "your life is mine." no. NO.

genuinely she made his survivor's guilt so much worse by reinforcing his negative line of thinking. and then at the end when he's holding her dying body, lamenting that he couldn't do more for her, she's like, "it's okay. you came." THATS WHAT HES BEEN DOING THIS WHOLE TIME??? no. no. this is too irritating lmao

i don't hate kikyo (most of the time) i just think a) inuyasha deserves better b) they are nooot compatible. also, most inukik shippers i've met turned me off from the ship even more.

anyway inukag and kagkik are a thousand times more compelling >>>

okay, but genuinely, i love sesskagu. i don't talk about them a lot, but they really are one of the more interesting pairings imo. opposites in many ways, but also very similar. sesshomaru, so certain of whom he is, and kagura, still trying to recover her body and identity for herself. sesshomaru, who travels the lands at his own pace, and kagura, who wishes to be free as the wind. sesshomaru and rin, kagura and kohaku. both haughty and powerful, but with contrasting personalities. wouldn't hurt to give sesshomaru someone (who would bully him) to banter with either.

also, i have a super specific headcanon of kagura teaching rin wind magic....i just need more rin and kagura interactions please im begging.

Kagome’s content, but in reality, she wishes for adventures and excitement, much like the characters in her books. In steps the captain of her college’s hockey team, a rude, unruly, and cocky hanyou named Inuyasha Taisho, and suddenly, her whole world is turned upside down.

When I was young my biggest fic headcanon was Inuyasha finding Naruto cos I liked the Inuyasha-Shippou dynamic and Naruto = fox so it was natural I guess. But then I grew up and headcanon reversed with an adult Naruto finding Inuyasha.

Just imagine Ray, a Kakanaru AU adult Naruto in the Inuyasha-verse through some fuuinjutsu mishap, surprised at the open existence of youkai, hiding himself but demons still seem to wary of him no matter how much he concealed his scent, and then stumbling upon the feral waif of a hanyu child. The isolation and discrimination would resonate with Naruto deeply. Plus the white hair and the dog motif would remind Naruto of Kakashi while the child's attitude reminded him of himself. It was like looking at a child of himself and Kakashi. So Naruto would straight up adopt the boy. Tell him he's not worthless for being a hanyou. Teach him, clothe him, feed him, tell him he's not a mistake... All the things he had himself wished for as a child. It would be wholesome and heartwarming. And of course Inuyasha would be trained to fight but he would develop sneaky shinobi techniques as opposed to the brash, juggernaut style in canon. Inuyasha would be called 'pup', and pretend to hate it but secretly love it. Grooming sessions under the guidance of Kurama cos no way a child under his hair would ever have matted fur. Hey Pinky I am back with my Lynel Farm something that came to my mind because of irish!Reader but it has more with the mythology that kicked my brain. I am ancient compared to most people for the category of Anime. I watched Beyblade Metal Fusion as a kid but it's not about that even if it would be funny. But I write about another childhood series I saw, Inuyasha. As I don't know if you know this Anime I make a little headcanon. This is Inuyasha!Reader.

They lived in the feudal lands of Japan.

Reader may look young, like 15 to 17, but they are actually over 200 years old.

They are a Hanyou, which means they are half human and half Youkai, a half-demon.

Even though their mother had a title that is the same rank of a princess, they were treated horribly with only their mother as support.

But demons didn't accept them either as they were still part human.

Their father was a dog demon, a strong one at that, with the title of the Lord of the Western Lands.

And his blood is strong which is why Reader has white silvery hair with golden yellow eyes.

Except it's a new moon, in this phase of the night they lose all their abilities they have as a Hanyou, don't worry I will list them later.

At the new moon they have the hair colour of Reader with their eye colour as it's their human part and they hate the new moon as it also makes them vulnerable.

They wear the Robe of the Fire-Rat, it's from their father, with a white hadagi undershirt. And with this they are fireproof. They can walk through a forest fire and come out alive and without a scratch. And they always go around barefoot.

Their abilities are enhanced jumps, they can jump from a one story house up to the roof of a four story high house. They have superhuman strength like Reader punches through solid steel. Superhuman speed, they can outrun a horse without problems and as their stamina is inhuman as well. They can run through the whole day and still make it through the complete nightshift. Their agility and reflexes are nothing to brush off either, they can catch and destroy arrows mid air even if they stand with their back to their opponent or opponents. Their durability and accelerated healing will shock the Chain, especially Hyrule. They can get impaled through their stomach and survive it while fighting! And within a day the wound is gone without leaving a single scar.

As a dog demon they have enhanced senses of smell and hearing. They can smell the hints of blood from kilometres away and can hear what people were whispering from a great distance away. They also have dog ears which are very fluffy like the ones from an Akita Inu.

Their fighting style is unorthodox to say at least as they are extremely stubborn and refuse to back down, even when their life is in danger. As they won't back down and fight with their claws if their sword isn't available or they don't want to use it and they can solidify their own blood and make it into flying blades.

Now to their sword. It's called Tessaiga which is the sword that can "kill a hundred demons in a single stroke" and it looks like a Katana that's about to break until they draw it to protect someone, who is dear to them. Then it looks like an overgrown dog fang and its cross guard has a large patch of fur also similar to the one of a dog. But it only changes into this form by Reader's hand only.

But their demon blood is also their weakness. You see Tessaiga is practically suppressing and sealing Reader's demon half away to a certain content. When they are in life danger and don't have Tessaiga with them they can become a full-fledged demon and attack every living being they deemed as a threat.

They also have an older half-brother and they hate each other. A deceased wife and a daughter which is a quarter part demon.

Now to the group. They will be so suspicious of each other. Reader is half demon but not with Ganon, they don't even know who that is and they don't understand one word from each other. Reader will be confused with them as in their home people with pointed ears are normally demons but the Chain don't look, smell or fight like one.

But after they learned the language I think they will tolerate each other but begin to trust after a while. Well except for Wind he loved to be carried by them as they are fast and jump far away. Four screams at them because of Tessaiga's broken form until they show him the real one. Then he is all over them and their sword as it's made out of the fang tooth of their father and its attacks are very destructive. They also can fight through an army of monsters and even without breaking a sweat and without injuries on them.

But also can find traces far easier than Twilight as they have a more sensible nose than him. But they can't stand him, they have bad experience with wolves, one tried to court and kidnapped their late wife. So they often say to him "Wolf-Cub", it was an insult for the wolf demon back then.

But Reader and Legend will have so many fights as Reader is pretty hotheaded and got betrayed the worst possible way. Their first love pinned them with a seal and an arrow onto a tree. They were hated by humans and demons alike so they are harsh. Hyrule still wants to heal them after they encounter a tough opponent even if Reader can lift a Lynel and can bite through the neck of a Gleeok. Time will be impressed as he is not half as nimble as they are. Yes, Wild is technically 117 years old but he slept 100 years but Reader was only sealed away for 50 years until they were back kicking and screaming so they have his respect.

Sky will be the most suspicious one at first as they are a half demon after all. But he will notice that they are really protective over the people they care for and see as their friends and family. And as he asked about their life, after they trust the group. They talk about their daughter, their late wife, the adventures they went through, their deceased friends, their half-brother, how they met their wife and so on and Sky as the true romantic he is will ask more about the missus. Wars tries to get them to stop being so reckless even if they eliminate 100 monsters alone he can't allow that. Wild will ask about recipes from their homeland and they have some, which their mother shared with them when they got sick, which is a very rare occasion.

But they definitely disappear when it's the new moon until dawn so they don't see their human form. It's stuck with them since they were a child, to hide when its new moon as they are vulnerable at this time and feel pain. Or have their abilities anymore but if one of them saw that they will threaten the Link with his life.

I think you've covered most, if not, all of the bases. I know what anime you're talking about but I've never seen it. I have the faintest suspicion that this is more or less the timeline/backstory of the dog man half demon from the show. XD

Actually, I lied. One note.

I don't know if Twilight would register "Wolf-Cub" being an insult or not. He'd probably think it was just a nickname and that Reader just straight couldn't care less about him. Kinda like "Yes, I am a wolf. Thank you for noticing. Why say it like that?"

Unless he starts to think that it's actually a term of endearment because Reader is a dog demon and also calling him pup/cub from time to time like Time does (in fics- I forgot if that's canon or not.)

With all of this in mind, I think that it would lead to a funny one-sided hate/tolerate relationship where Twilight just doesn't register Reader hating his guts for literally no reason. XD

Sango never expected Inuyasha to be someone who would gush over his mate, and that definitely wasn't the right word for it, but the way he let Kouga hang all over him was too much for her to bear.

The wolf would've been the easier of the two targets, but she'd thought starting with Inuyasha would prove the most fruitful, considering his upbringing. She'd wanted to use their trauma to build a connection, to create a shoulder for them both to lie on, but by the time they'd all healed from the physical wounds of the final battle, Kouga had swooped in and stolen all her thunder.

She couldn't even fault him for it. Everything he saw in Inuyasha was exactly what she saw as well. And even with his pack mentality, she doubted bringing in Inuyasha after establishing themselves as a couple would've sat well with the hanyou.

When he'd been going between Kikyou and Kagome, he hadn't wanted to share either of them with Kouga. There was no way he'd be willing to devote himself to two people at once.

And now she'd missed the opportunity altogether.

some things to note for ash's modern verse:

his dad is alive and is one of the biggest multi-billionaires in the world ( think microsoft/ amazon ). he's still a very powerful daiyokai and is currently separated from his first wife.

his mom is dead and was completely human.

ash was born out of wedlock and out of an affair between his mom and dad - the two of them were v in love but couldn't be together for obvious reasons. ash was then hidden from public eye and he grew up with only his mom as they barely made ends meet.

ash only reconnected with his father after his mom died. they have a very strained relationship.

sesshomaru and ash have a civil relationship built over years of trial and error.

ash is a mechanic and owns his own shop that he built from the ground up with his mother's inheritance.

he's a metalhead. are we surprised? no.

since ash is half-dog demon/ hanyou, he has the following traits: super sensitive hearing and sense of smell, healing takes far less time, super speed and strength, claws, fangs.

his eyes are a golden colour.

Divinity was a mistake - Resbang 2022

He's a hanyou, half-human, half-youkai, but he won't allow other Lore creatures to look down on him. He will become the strongest, even if that means killing a God. Tsubaki, an Oni, has to navigate the complicated Lore politics to find out more about this God who calls himself Death the Kid. Unfortunately for her, that includes dealing with the Valkyries, including Liz, with whom she has a very complicated friendship. While Black Star heals and Tsubaki plans a murder, they will have to face a reality they have denied for far too long: all Lore creatures are destined to find their one true mate.

There's creators still in the fandom, still creating the things that they enjoy, regardless of HnY. Those that left could have used this show as their excuse to slip out the back door to explore other interests. Real life has taken back over, and there may be no energy left for fandom activity. From what I've seen, people don't linger for long with new media anymore. It's all about how quickly the source can be absorbed, a mad dash to blow through fic and art, and then they're on to the next popular interest.

I don't understand why a creator would need an excuse to leave a fandom? Unless they are offering commissions no one is telling them what to create.

I do agree that there is a 'TikTok' generation of people who consume media rapidly and then get excited for the next big thing. But that's not who really made up the bulk of the fandom.

Inuyasha is a 20 year old anime with an even longer running manga. I only got to see the fandom explosion here on Tumblr due to The Final Act, but despite the show going off air and the manga completing, there remained a modest dedicated fan base.

Then Hanyou no Yashahime/princess half demon came along and at the beginning there was so much excitement! However you know how that story ended, instead of a renaissance that people were hoping for, we got an apocalypse.

Despite it all I still hold onto some hopes that the fandom will heal and these dedicated fans return or new ones arrive. My post before was to put out a message that there are still people here determined to carry on as if the apocalypse never happened.

Because Inuyasha isn't just an anime. It's part of people's childhoods, it's in their fondest memories, it was an escape from reality, it was part of their favorite memes (AMV's as well) and it helped them find new friends - in my case it helped me find a girlfriend.

It would be really sad to see it die out.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time there was a beautiful, vivacious, young lady who was as intelligent as she was lovely, doing meaningless work for an arrogant ass who felt it was owed to him because he was responsible for her rebirth. “What a bunch of crap I tell you”.

“She was already a soft breeze demon of the north wind tribe from the very beginning and then because she was young, she fell for the bullshit that he was selling and allowed him to absorb her into the body of a worthless human. That was a pain in the ass for her.” The sound of a clearing throat was heard in the background. The speaker rolled her eyes with a slight smirk before she continued her story.

“For fifty years she was trapped in a body that was at first dying and smelled awful, then as it absorbed more demons it began to heal and regenerate to being a strong body, but it still smelled awful. Anyway, after fifty years she was pulled from her resting place of boredom and nothingness to being reborn into a stunning beauty who became a wind goddess. An admittingly stronger one than she was before.” “Umm… correction wind demoness, a gruff voice chimed in.” A side eye was given to the person who interrupted her. A harrumph and she was back to telling her story.

“Upon her rebirth the creepy, greasy, visually handsome man stuck his hand in her chest and grabbed her newly animated heart right out of her chest. Yes, I know! It was horrifying, disgusting and scary. Imagine how she felt when seeing her still beating heart displayed in front of her in his greasy hand telling her that she had to obey him in all things or he would crush her heart. Then imagine that the smell emanating from this handsome man was the very scent of the bastard that tricked you into giving up your body and imprisoned you for fifty years. Not only was she scared of dying but also angry. Enough to chuck something at his head and let him kill her. A second after the thought went through her head did she realize that she had to be alive to exact her revenge on him.”

“So, this asshole kept sending her out to do his evil bidding to get back at a hanyou, who didn’t care about him in the first place, over a stoic stick in the mud of a priestess, who didn’t care about him either. I personally think the prick was jealous that the hanyou was more endowed than he was. Dog demons have more pow in their punch. So, a hanyou has to have taken a blessing from the father. A giggle with an affirmative sound came from the background. Then a gruff, “Can we get on with the story? I have a girl child ya know.” Though this was said with a smug look and a barely concealed smirk.

The narrator again looks back at the interruption, before she could make a comment back, a curious voice asked, “Hey mom what does endowed mean?” A gasp was heard and the mother turned to her child to answer her question when a rather female child’s gruff voice yelled out, “He’s mad because the hanyou’s sword was bigger than his? A chuckle from the narrator, another round of giggles from the two other ladies who were present, a guffaw from one of the males and a “Damn straight!" was heard from the gruff voiced male, after the announcement from the child.

When the narrator continued her story, telling the party surrounding her, the adventures of the group of shard seekers and the wind demoness, her interactions with the group she did so with a smile and a fondness in her voice. She told of the demoness interactions with a certain beautiful dog demon who in her opinion was the strongest of all demons in history. That statement garnered an affirmative grunt as well as rather loud Keh from the audience. In the end there was an applause from her audience and the narrator took a slow bow before gingerly sitting on a cushion around the fire. Two girls crawled close to her and rested their heads on her arms telling her how much they enjoyed the story before yawning behind their hands. The gruff female child’s voice yelled that she wanted another story before her father swooped her up into his arms telling her, “Maybe another night.” The child’s mother said, “Moroha she needs her rest in her condition. She will tell another story on another night.” Another male voice exclaimed that, “If we keep reminding them to tell the story of how they met she will stay in that condition until the end of time.” That earned him a hit in the back of the head from his wife and a laugh from Moroha's mother who was patting her enlarged stomach saying, “Then that story works wonders for more than one couple.” Then turned to look at her blushing hanyou mate. This was followed by a Feh and an armed wrapped protectively around his mate and a squeeze to the squirming child in his arms.

As the procession was leaving the room to go their separate ways a muffled scream came from the narrator. Everyone stopped to turn to the woman sitting on the floor with one of her hands cradling her lower back. Her daughters looking worried. A deep male voice tinged in concern inquired, “Kagura what is wrong?” His mate with laughter lit in her red eyes and voice she told him that maybe the girls are not the only ones who like this story. The bewildered look on his face caused her to laugh again and led her to explain her comment. Go get Rin, Sesshomaru our son wants to make an appearance after hearing about how his parents met.
