(Sorry for not including Heisuke, I just don't think he fits anything here. I think he's a straight cis guy that would not go out of his way to support the LGBTQ+ community. He probably has other things on his mind... I don't HC him as queerphobic, just not as an ally.)

For those in the aromantic&asexual lines: I don't have a HC what their sexual/romantic identity is, I guess I'm open to any interpretation there. For the people in the pan&bi and gay&lesbian lines, I mostly HC their romantic identities to allign with their sexual ones.

(I saw someone musing about whether or not Kaoru is trans* (since identical twins usually share the same biological sex) and... I can't see how? Him "having the wrong genitals" (as in: him being AMAB) is a fact important to his backstory and he seems to have always identified as boy/man, even before the attack on his village, no matter what the Nagumo did to him. (Kaoru and Chizuru being oni is probably an excuse for how it's possible that they're identical twins with different sexes). But it's a trans* spectrum so while I can't see how he could be MTF trans*, maybe he's GNC/demi-boy/agender/enby?)

Oh word yes I sure can, also sorry for the late reply, I promise you I had this one on the to-do list n all. Headcanons below, mwah.

Genzaburo Inoue

The date itself is secret but he isn't scaling no walls like the other boys. He's just slipping out a back door somewhere, real quietly. Honestly no one even notices he's gone.

Insists on meeting at your place and walking you to the festival. Won't wear matching outfits but will perhaps arrange an outfit that is complimentary in color scheme to yours.

Will buy you a nice little present or souvenir of your choosing. Doesn't go for the games that much but loves watching you. Spends most of his time browsing vendor stalls and snacking on various things.

Does take wish making rituals quite seriously. He can be a real wordsmith when he feels like it. Has great handwriting.

Walks you home and gives you a kiss on the forehead before he goes. Gen-san saves kisses on the lips for super duper rare ultra special occassions.

Hijikata Toshizo

Homey is not even keeping it a secret, he is walking his ass out the front gate without even saying bye. Since he's acting captain, no one questions it although Nagakura and Genzaburo have a good hunch what he's up to.

Will meet you wherever it's most convenient for you. Will extend his arm for you to hold onto or lean on, as that's one of his most preferred forms of physical affection, especially in public spaces.

He's kind of a people watcher so festivals like these are just for him to drink in all the sights, sounds, and smells. Doesn't go for any of the games much but will help you on really hard ones.

He doesn't really believe in the wish making process but always does it just in case. The problem is, he has so many things to worry about that his wishes can get longwinded. Sometimes he runs off the paper.

Walks you home and waits outside for a bit afterwards to make sure you got inside okay and you don't need him for anything before he takes off. He has an over protective streak going.

I have a headcanon about Chang Geng thanks to the way Tuannba (Official artist for 7seas SPL EN Publication vol 2-onwards) drew him. I'm not sure if its canon because its been a while since I read this.

I imagined him as someone with sunken eyes or deep-set black eyes so it create an illusion he has dark circles or prominent heavy eyeshadows. I don't really know how to describe it. It does make sense because he barely sleep because of his Wuergu problem ever since his childhood days until his 20s and attending to his court duties must be stressful especially if he's surrounded by corrupt or incompetent officials.

I love fictional characters with under-eye bags okay. Its attractive, somehow??? I mean, look at L from Deathnote, Suguru Geto from Jujutsu Kaisen, stressed Hijikata Toshizo from Hakuouki and ML from Cheng He Ti Tong. They all look attractive lmao.

Since I'm at work and can't draw anything I'm making a headcanon post to just spew shit about my gk ocs LOL

Kume Hijikata and Arata Hijikata are born 1885 in Kyoto. Their father the son of Toshizo with Okoto. (Historically they were arranged to be married, but Hijikata had already resigned himself to the Roshigumi, therefore making his son a bastard out of wedlock. In this lore it's implied Okoto and Hijikata loved each other, and had made love at least once.)

They are raised in Kyoto, only moving to Tokyo after Kume's acceptance to the peeress school. Kume and Arata live with a family friend, Mokutaro Kikuta. Arata joins the Military. Kume meets and befriends Kaeko.

Arata and Kume meet Sugimoto, Kikuta has them prepare Sugimoto for the wedding interview. After the plan goes awry, they go their separate ways. Kume has multiple wedding interviews that are ultimately fruitless due to her boyish appearance and as Tsurumi would note "her violent eyes would turn the fiercest away" Kume drops from the Peeress School in 1904 suddenly.

Arata serves in the 7th division during the war in 1904, but is killed in action shortly after enlistment. Prior to his death he reunited with Sugimoto, and lamented about a "golden curse" on his family.

It is unknown how Arata discovered the search for gold, but in his writings, he claims to have discovered the startings of a plot but had no evidence to present to the central government. Not realizing Tsurumi was the spearhead of this search, Arata confided in him with his findings.

Just some headcanons about Toshizo and his love for the piano!

He discovered a second piano that was hidden in a spare room of their home when his mother had fallen ill. The room itself was forbidden to him as the piano was his mothers and his father did not want him near it. However, with his father rarely being home, he snuck in to play around on it. The piano in the family room had been sold since Kira had the second piano and they felt it was not necessary to have two of them.

Toshizo is self-taught; at first, he just experimented with the sounds that each key made, seemingly able to commit them to memory with ease. Though it had a lot to do with seeing his mother play.

Before Kira had fallen ill, Toshizo often sat on her lap while she played, and he was always keen on watching the movements of her hands, the way her fingers seemed to dance upon the keys with such delicacy.

When he had been taken in by the Black family, he found that they had a piano and they encouraged him to play it and play often. This was part of his coping mechanism as he worked on the road to his recovery both mentally and physically.

When Toshizo plays the piano, he gets lost in his own little world. It is often depicted as everything around him fades, leaving him and the piano as the only things existing in that time. This is when his true talent comes out, and most times it’s when he thinks he’s alone.

Toshizo plays the piano with his eyes closed! He had spent so much of his free time studying sheet music, listening to various piano pieces that he was able to visualize the music, to feel the notes within himself and see the music come to life in his mind.

Next to poetry, the art of music and playing the piano is his second strongest non-combat talent and his second ultimate passion in life that he takes pride in.

He only ever had his eyes opened one time while he was playing, and that was during his wedding to Izumi. He wanted to witness the expressions, to see the emotions she conveyed when he played one of his many own original compositions.

A/N: Here you go. Apologies for the delay. Hijikata and flirting......

He is a busy man. So, he doesn't have time for such stuff but...... the second he saw a man, other than him, too close to you, he went ballistic.

He knew he had to do something about this. What he really wanted to do was to pull you somewhere private and end this fucking shit by telling you how much he loved you and how much jealous he gets when he sees other men with you. But, he couldn't due to his position. He is the commander of the Shinsengumi. He can't promise you anything. He can't say when he is going to die. So, for him it's the subtle gestures he gives you, unknowingly.

Like always thanking you properly when you bring him tea, getting angry at people who try to tease you, always trying to keep you out of harm's way, often praising you more than others and also scolding you more when try something reckless, etc.

But the day he gets drunk, oh my, he confesses everything. All of his pent-up feelings. He talks to you in the same way as the picture below 👇.

The next morning, he apologises for being rowdy last night and asks you to forget everything but when you admit that the feelings are mutual, he frowns. He tells you that he can't promise you anything but you reassure him that you understand and are ready for anything that the future brings. He shakes his head and mutters something under his breath which you can't understand. At the end, he just smiles and accepts everything as it is.

« Who to trust with my car ?! » Hakuouki headcanon

So, I had the twelve boys in my collector Ginsei/Tsukikage no shou pack and I was wondering who to put on my car keys.

Then... I decided to make headcanons about it : Who should I trust with my car ?

Hijikata: Knows how to drive and respects the rules most of the time. Will curse like hell if stuck in traffic or if someone makes him a fishtail. Hates to be tailed from too close and will crash the brakes as a warning before raising a middle finger.

Okita : Won’t drive my car but changes ON PURPOSE the inclination of my seat, of my mirrors and leaves booby traps in the gloves box. If he notices how easily the pommel of my driving stick can go off (true), will definitely steal the ball to make it impossible for me to drive. Will also hide my car key everywhere, especially of he knows that I’m late.

Saito : Can drive. He read about it and is confident that he can handle this. Loses all confidence when he realises it’s a manual and not an automatic but would keep a straight face. Hides from the others to practice as to not embarrass himself. Won’t quit until he can perfect the art of driving a manual.

Harada : Uses my car to go to nightclub. Finds a girl there and leave with her for an awesome night. Forgets my car in the parking lot.

Heisuke : Uses my car to go to nightclub with Harada and Nagakura. Loses the locker ticket, random guy finds it and uses it to steal my car. The three boys have to walk home.

Nagakura : Uses my car to drive and try to pick up chicks in town. Gets provoked by a guy at a red light and starts a rodeo race. Ends up crashing it somewhere.

Sannan : Opens the car and take pieces off to try to understand how it works and make some improvements on it for speed. Ends up messing everything up and my car can’t even work properly anymore.

Yamazaki : Uses it without lights for more discretion. Ends up in a wall. Doesn’t tell me because he’s too embarrassed.

Souma : Doesn’t know how to drive and is completely panicked that I trust him with something that important. Turns the key then turns it off immediately several times when he hears the motor sound, persuaded that he can’t handle it. Every improvement feels like a huge step and I praise his efforts.

Sakamoto : Uses it to pick up a chick. Things are great until her boyfriend shows up. Ends up in a fight and my tires are slashed.

Iba : Is truly happy I can trust him with something that important. Takes it to the mecanician, the painter, the carrosserie, the cleaner and surprises me by making it look like new because he know how much I love it (and how shitty it looks/is)

Kazama : Looks at me as if I forgot my place. Do I really expect a demon prince to touch human technology ?

Ah, if I am not late, perhaps some cuddling headcanons for Hijikata? You write him really good and I'm really looking forward to your works

Hijikata is not the cuddly type, and to be quite honest, it took the two of you quite a while to even convince him to sleep in the same room as you despite being together for so long. He found it indecent, and he still felt like he was crossing a boundary that he was not quite allowed to cross yet.

Though as time went on, Hijikata got more comfortable with being intimate with you. He’s more willing to hold your hand while the two of you are walking around Chaldea. While he did feel embarrassed at first, even if you told him that he didn’t have to hold your hand if he felt embarrassed, he’d always reassuringly squeeze your hand tightly.

Now that the two of you are more comfortable being together with each other, he does hang around in your room with you during the waking hours. He’ll stay until you fall asleep, but he won’t sleep in the same bed as you yet. He doesn’t want to unintentionally find himself in a far too intimate situation upon waking up in the mornings.

When the two of you are hanging out together in the room though, Hijikata does let you sit in his lap as you go over your reports and input new data points from recent rayshifts. Hijikata loves how you feel so at ease with him, and perhaps it’s these moments where he was the most quiet. The two of you could sit in silence while you worked on reports and leaned back against his chest, he really enjoyed being able to wrap his arms around your waist. Occasionally you’d hold one of his hands and you’d feel him gently rub his thumb back and forth on the back of your hand.

He enjoys them simply because he gets to show the world that you belong to him whenever he or you shares them. And because he thinks you're so pretty that he HAS to show you off. After playing a VERY IMPORTANT rock-scissor-paper minigame in ishin and hardly hold himself from laughing after losing, (Ryoma, why you is so embarrassed and decided to leave? It was supposed to be a win-win situation) I starting wonder how other Shinsengumi members would react on losing and winning in this (and drinking battle too) game. Unless, of course, at least one of them doesn’t mind visiting such a place.

And thank you for all this headcanons, they're incredibly good!

Hijikata Toshizo (Mine Yoshitaka)

He RARELY visits these kinds of places so when he does, he is playing to win. Typically, he does in fact win. He's as cool headed as ever, as if it was something he did as easily as breathing.

On the off chance he does loose, he'll simply turn in early for the night.

Nagakura Shinpachi (Saejima Taiga)

Not quite a regular at these places but familiar enough. Drinks a fair amount there, but also he's no lightweight so it doesn't affect him too much.

He wins and loses pretty equally, although when he wins he kind of has this satisfied aura about him for a while and it's obvious he's pleased with himself about something.

Okita Soji (Majima Goro)

Semi-regular at these places. He gets lonely, plus he's got a reputation as a playboy to uphold, although no one really told him he HAD to uphold it. Oh well, work and pleasure and all that.

He actually loses quite a lot, but the girls kind of love how over the top he is about everything and recognize that even in losing, he takes it in a jokingly type of stride. Will get drunk at these places but he's a harmless drunk.

If he loses, he just kind of throws his hands up in the air comically. When he wins though, watch out. He is getting his fill.

Todo Heisuke (Tianyou Zhao)

More of a once in a blue moon guy at these places but the girls seem to really love him. Out of all the Shinsengumi boys, he's the one they look forward to the most and in a way that isn't strictly for monetary gain.

He has a cool attitude that just makes them flustered which makes it easier for him to win, which he does very often.

On the rare occassion where he loses, he'll just shrug casually and be like "Ah, guess it's not my lucky day, huh?" to which the girls will be like "Ah, it's ok, we can try again!".

Yamazaki Susumu (Joon-Gi Han)

The least likely of all the Shinsengumi boys to visit this kind of place but sometimes he needs it. Hasn't got much patience for these kinds of games though, so if he loses he just leaves honestly.

Actually better at the drinking game and tends to win more at that, so if he can get away with doing that instead, he will. Pretty good at holding his liquor, although he does get hangovers.

I’m not an expert on MBTI, and I tend to overthink the Shinsengumi guys from Hakuouki.  So this is a little rough, but conveys the key elements of how *I* perceive their characters :)

Myers-Briggs uses 4 basic traits; there is also a 5th indicator (newer)

Extroverted / IntrovertedIntuitive / SensoryThinking / FeelingJudging / Perceiving[Assertive / Turbulent ~ I’ll leave this out]

Hijikata Toshizo ~ appears extroverted to some, but actually somewhat introverted; borderline intuitive/sensory; more feeling than thinking (as Sannan often points out); judging ~ INFJ (can appear as ESTJ, but remember that this man is both creative and a visionary, and prefers small groups; introverts can be - often are - leaders, but it takes a toll on them)

Okita Souji ~ extroverted, because although he doesn’t like sharing anything of himself, he does seem to derive pleasure and energy from being around and teasing/interacting with others (positively or otherwise); intuitive more than sensory (he’s intuitive in both a positive and negative sense); feeling rather than thinking (he’s intelligent, but passionate); judging more than perceiving (overall, he’s stubborn, with strong personal biases and a dislike of change; loyal for good and for bad; intense and can be very attractive) ~ ENFJ

Toudou Heisuke ~ an extroverted sweetheart (but don’t forget that he does a lot of self-reflection when he’s down); intuitive (tends to add his own “gloss” to the basic facts, or ignore what he doesn’t like until it’s too late); feeling (for good and for bad!); a mix of judging and perceiving, on balance more perceiving: he wants to stay open to different possibilities and is constantly looking for better ways to act and think ~ ENFP

Harada Sanosuke ~ extroverted, but with a streak of self-reflection (he also appreciates the intimacy of close friendships and smaller groups); a mix of sensory and intuitive, but more sensory (he tends to work with reality and facts, and only cautiously adds his own personal take); feeling (he tries for thinking, but his basic personality is feeling; maturity has helped balance things a bit); perceiving rather than judging (Harada is flexible in his outlook and adapts well to most changes in plan; like most of them, he’s stubborn about certain things) ~ ENFP

Kazama Chikage ~ introverted more than extroverted (he truly seeks solitude over companionship; being domineering/arrogant is a form of introversion, in his case); intuitive (he interprets the world almost entirely within the context of his own values and upbringing); thinking (he is confused when others don’t follow the “logical” path - although logical to him may be different than to others; put another way, he’s not empathic, and honestly finds it difficult to relate to the “illogical” behaviour of others); judging ~ INTJ [Note that his character has an innocence to it, despite his casual violence; he absolutely believes in himself, his role/place, and his duties; he’s immature by most standards, especially early on; the world is disillusioning to him]

I’ll have to put a shorter analysis for the newer or new route characters, both for time and knowledge reasons… Maybe to explore later?

Nagakura Shinpachi ~ ENFP (I could go into more detail, but he’s actually one of the easier ones to categorize, although he’s as complex a character as anyone; don’t underestimate his intelligence or ability to be logical)

Sannan Keisuke ~ ISTP (the textbook scientist?; maybe, but don’t underestimate his capacity for feeling, or his tendency toward non-logical reactions; still ISTP is probably the best fit - in many ways, he’s the true realist of the group)

Yamazaki Susumu ~ ISTP, with tendencies toward F and J; I love Yamazaki, and he reacts more from his gut than you’d think (consider his not-as-buried-as-he’d-like romantic views of the world - hence the ninja, the devotion to the Shinsengumi etc); keep in mind that this middle-class doctor’s son “ran away” to become a samurai

Iba Hachiro ~ moderately extroverted (he likes being with people, and likes people); more intuitive than sensory (a romantic type); feeling (ditto); more judging than perceiving (both by personality and upbringing, but moderate) ~ a moderate ENFJ

Souma Kazue ~ a sweetheart who wears his heart on his sleeve (”earnest” should be his middle name!) ~ ENFJ (very moderate E)

Sakamoto Ryouma ~ a very strong E (yeah, okay, that part’s obvious); seriously, though, he’s quite canny, logical, and tends to see things as they are; flexible and always on the lookout for a better solution ~ ESTP
