Characters: Toshizo Carmnine-Black, Verseon Black Warnings: None Notes: (Just some humour~ I was giggling writing it and hopefully you'll get a bit of a laugh out of it, or at least a glimpse at how my dear brotherly OCs interact~) Word Count: 559
Reports were never fun to write, but when it came to Toshizo, he took pride in it. He would spend countless hours in his office, writing endlessly, making sure that he included every detail of his mission or investigation. Sometimes it seemed as though Toshizo took his work a little too seriously and in truth, he often did. This often bothered his brother and longtime friend Verseon who thought by now, Toshizo should allow himself to be a bit more laid back.
It was the commotion outside his office, the never-ending sound of things crashing to the floor, or something slamming into a hard surface that had him dropping his pen. His brow furrowed, lips pulled into a deep scowl as he brought a hand up to ease his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. Surely whoever let themselves in and was making such a ruckus would make their presence fully known which only left Toshizo to sit up and cross his arms over his chest, gaze glued to the door that was slightly ajar.
Still, the sounds intensified as they drew closer, mixed with the low baritone cursing. Raising an eyebrow, Toshizo watched as the door opened slowly, and sure enough, there was Verseon rubbing his forehead, his hair dishevelled and clothing askew. Toshizo said nothing as he shook his head, and when Verseon went to enter the room, it was a loud thud that had Toshi nearly losing his shit.
"For fuck sakes! Every single time! Why are your door frames so fucking short, Toshi!?"
That was all it took for Toshizo's laughter to fill the room. He had been effectively distracted, but perhaps he needed the break. It took a few minutes, but once his laughter had died off, he couldn't help but smirk, violet hues alight with amusement.
"Why do you always forget to duck? It's not my fault you're taller than I am or that I know how to effectively duck when I enter or leave a room."
"Hey! I didn't ask to be this fucking tall, it just happened, okay?"
Clearly annoyed, Verseon grabbed one of the chairs by the door, sliding it over to sit across from Toshizo. He leaned over, using his elbows to prop himself up. Toshizo was mesmerized, violet hues unable to break away from staring at the dark red marking across Verseon's forehead.
"Wow- That looks like it really hurts..."
"You think?!"
"Let me get a closer look."
Verseon was unsettled by this, but still, even as he squinted, he leaned forward a bit. Toshizo's smirk had fallen into a straight line as he seemed to be assessing the bump that was starting to form, but he didn't really feel all that worried. Gently, Toshizo ran his fingers over the mark, watching as Verseon winced at the contact. Just when he thought Toshizo was going to pull his hand away, he was met with a harsh flick to the forehead that caused his hands to come up and cover his forehead.
"Ow! What the hell?!"
"Let that serve as a lesson. First off, duck. Secondly, don't destroy my home, because I know you didn't clean up whatever you knocked over. Idiot."
"It's not my fault you have so much stuff. Not all of us can slip through the cracks anymore."
"Uh huh. Whatever you say, dude."

Just some headcanons about Toshizo and his love for the piano!
He discovered a second piano that was hidden in a spare room of their home when his mother had fallen ill. The room itself was forbidden to him as the piano was his mothers and his father did not want him near it. However, with his father rarely being home, he snuck in to play around on it. The piano in the family room had been sold since Kira had the second piano and they felt it was not necessary to have two of them.
Toshizo is self-taught; at first, he just experimented with the sounds that each key made, seemingly able to commit them to memory with ease. Though it had a lot to do with seeing his mother play.
Before Kira had fallen ill, Toshizo often sat on her lap while she played, and he was always keen on watching the movements of her hands, the way her fingers seemed to dance upon the keys with such delicacy.
When he had been taken in by the Black family, he found that they had a piano and they encouraged him to play it and play often. This was part of his coping mechanism as he worked on the road to his recovery both mentally and physically.
When Toshizo plays the piano, he gets lost in his own little world. It is often depicted as everything around him fades, leaving him and the piano as the only things existing in that time. This is when his true talent comes out, and most times it’s when he thinks he’s alone.
Toshizo plays the piano with his eyes closed! He had spent so much of his free time studying sheet music, listening to various piano pieces that he was able to visualize the music, to feel the notes within himself and see the music come to life in his mind.
Next to poetry, the art of music and playing the piano is his second strongest non-combat talent and his second ultimate passion in life that he takes pride in.
He only ever had his eyes opened one time while he was playing, and that was during his wedding to Izumi. He wanted to witness the expressions, to see the emotions she conveyed when he played one of his many own original compositions.

Untitled - Chapter One
Notes: AJ here! This is actually my first chaptered fic on here! While it was decided on the fly to turn it into a chaptered fic, it was meant only to be a short story/drabble, but I found myself getting carried away! Couldn’t think of a title name, but that could change in the future. There is a massive amount of characters in here from OCs to Canon characters and I really hope you enjoy it! If you like it, don’t hesitate to let me know! Also, constructive criticism is always welcomed, loves! Thank you for your time and happy reading! Kaden Kankara belongs to @xsmokeypixels
Warnings: None at this point in time, but it likely to change in future chapters
Word Count: 1770
All that could be heard echoing through the night were the constant battle cries, the continuous sound of blades clashing and the ground shaking. Quickly it had pulled everyone from their slumber, each jolting awake, a panicked expression written upon their features as they all looked at each other.
When it came to Jaekey, she had already sprung into action, the voices she heard, all too familiar to her. She had to go; she had to move right away, even when she rose to her feet, she felt the warmth of Prompto’s hand around her wrist.
“Just wait, we should all go together, you can’t go throwing yourself in harm’s way just because there is a battle nearby.”
His words had hazel hues widening as she turned her head towards him. Kaden and the others were all silent for the moment, more so when Jaekey’s expression had hardened. She had to pull her wrist away with a gentle shake of her head.
“No. For once, I cannot wait. It’s Toshizo and Verseon, I know it. I know they can handle their own, but I cannot sit idly by. Understand that they are the only true family I have left in this world.”
In the time it had taken Jaekey to speak, the others had pulled themselves into a more awakened state, even Noctis, which was rare. Each of them was on their feet, quick to follow Jaekey out of the tent and onto the haven. It was in the distance, far enough away from the haven that they were not in immediate danger, but close enough that they could all see the cluster of Daemons, moving under the moonlight. It was the rare glimmer of blades that gave way to witness warriors fighting with their all. It was unmistakable, even in the dark of night, Jaekey could make out the figures, as well as an additional hunter alongside them.
“To rush into battle would be unwise, not without at least formulating some kind of plan. It’s not easy to assess from our place here,” Ignis hummed, fingers coming up to tiredly push his glasses back up.
“Look, you’re all still exhausted from all the hunts yesterday, but I couldn’t take part in that. I’m the only one with full strength at her disposal. Those in that battle, like all of you, are important to me.”
“You think we’re going to let you rush off into combat to play hero on your own? Those men can’t even seem to hold their own.” Gladio’s voice came out harshly.
Much to his, and everyone’s surprise, Jaekey was smiling, a gentle nod of her head. “I’m not rushing off to play hero; I’m rushing off to help those I care for to pull through.”
“Once she has her mind set on something, there’s no changing it.” Kaden didn’t want her to do this, but she knew there was no stopping her. “Steel is her will and determination. We can try to take that away from her, but it wouldn’t do us any good. Her mind is unbreakable when she has decided.”
Another smile lingered on Jaekey’s lips, hazel hues gazing upon her best friend with the utmost fondness. It was quickly erased when she heard the sounds in the distance. She found herself looking at everyone, seeing the uneasiness written upon their features, and more so, great worry in Prompto’s eyes. She stepped towards him, her arms coming up to drape around his shoulders as she leaned up and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.
“Forgive me. I’ll return soon, I swear it. You all need to stay here, and try to rest.”
In that brief touch of their lips, Prompto’s eyes had fluttered shut until the contact was gone.
“I’m going to hold you to that…” He offered a smile, gently bumping his nose against her own.
Nobody else had anything to say, after all, what could they say? The more they tried to speak out, the longer it would take Jaekey to go, and while none were comfortable with the idea, Kaden’s words held true. It was one more glance towards everyone before she held her katana in her hand, nodding before she turned on her heels to face towards where the battle raged on. Without a moment’s hesitation, she was off the haven, and the moment her feet hit the ground, she was running, running without looking back.
“Guys, we can’t just let her do this…” Prompto turned slightly, his eyes moving back to watch as Jaekey got further and further away, “we have to do something.”
“We assess the situation from where we are, devise a plan, and then we set out after her. We cannot act so impulsively as she has.” Ignis shifted uncomfortably, “Kaden, what can you see from here?”
“Well, I mean, it looks like a large group of Red Giants, I’m familiar to seeing them in sets of two, but their numbers right now, they are far greater than any of us have ever witnessed. But what did she mean she’s the only one with full strength at her disposal. For some reason that isn’t sitting right with me…”
For hours, Toshizo, Verseon and Giovanni were endlessly fighting, the movements of their weapons never ceasing. It was like the daemons had never stopped spawning, even when there were no Nidus’ to be seen. For every one they took down, two more appeared. It was as though something was controlling the daemons, bringing them to this specific point as if the goal was to take out the three men who fought endlessly to bring them down.
“This is impossible!” Verseon shouted, his blade coming down as he spun to dodge an attack.
“We can’t stop fighting, not now!” Toshizo’s voice erupted from the groans and murmurs that left him as he attacked, “this is not normal! They appeared before the sun had set, something is luring them here!”
“Keep giving it all you’ve got! Maybe we need to keep going until the sun rises. Sure they appeared before the sunset, but can they sustain being in the light for so long!?” Giovanni’s question was all it took to set a new determination between them.
Jaekey could hear them as she got closer, her blade was drawn as she prepared to plunge into battle. The number of daemons was staggering, it was like nothing she had witnessed before, but that wasn’t going to stop her. It was her movement towards the commotion that had caught Toshizo’s eye. For that brief moment he was distracted, Jaekey had picked up momentum.
“Father! Look out!” Running towards him, she jumped, to push him out of the way, going down to the ground with him.
As they landed, the sword of a Red Giant came slamming into the ground. Toshizo stared wide-eyed, a sigh of relief leaving his lips, yet his gaze fell upon her, concern etched in violet hues.
“Jaekey, you shouldn’t be apart of this.” He breathed.
She was quick to push herself to her feet, Toshizo following after her. There was no time for them to stand and talk about it really, or for Toshizo to convince her to leave.
“You say that like you think I’ll run away. The three of you seem to be having a hard enough time as it is! An extra body could be all you need. I’m here now, and I’m not leaving, so don’t try to convince me otherwise.”
As Toshizo moved in to land another attack, he couldn’t help but laugh, “hard-headed, just like your mother was. I can’t make you leave, no, but for the love of the Astrals, don’t get in over your head.”
“Right! Let’s do this, gentlemen!” Jaekey lifted her katana to the air before she began to make her moves, targeting one of the Red Giants.
“Give it all you’ve got, Jae!” Verseon grinned as he rushed past her.
“As long as we fight together! We can do end this!” Giovanni called out from his position, taking a final strike on one of the daemons that were not a Red Giant.
There wasn’t a need to speak any further, not when battle called all of their attention forward. Though something was not right, it was something Jaekey’s gut that told her there was something more to this; she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. She needed to shake the thoughts from her mind; she needed to focus.
It was something in her presence that seemed to intensify things. She had scanned over the field, counted the number of daemons before her presence was noticed by Toshizo, and then, as soon as she was a part of it, the number continued to increase. Each of them was fighting, giving their all, even when fatigue was overtaking them, they kept at it, refusing to give in.
None could focus on what the other was doing, they each had a target before them, and when one went down, the moved onto the next. They were being worn thin, energy levels falling rapidly. It was indeed a hopeless endeavour, but Jaekey alone was determined, up until she was distracted by the gut-wrenching sound of her father falling in the line of battle, followed by the others until she was the last one standing.
“Perhaps we should have run…” Jaekey muttered to herself.
She couldn’t stop fighting, her body continuing to move as she dodged attacks, countered them with her own as she moved between daemons, attacking them in bursts rather than one at a time. With her being the only one still standing, she couldn’t afford to apply focus on them one at a time.
Somehow, on her own, she had managed to take down three before it felt as though her heart stopped. Laughter erupted from the shadows behind her, where she now stood, facing towards the direction she had come from at the start. All the daemons had ceased their movements, standing as if frozen in time. It gave Jaekey an opportunity to let her gaze shift around, spotting where each man lay, nearly motionless, though her attention was pulled back to the laughter, it was all too familiar.
“I must say, I never imagined that I could lure you out so easily.”

Characters: Jaekey Lefebvre, Toshizo Carmnine (mentions of Noctis, Ignis, Gladio, Prompto and Cor)
Word Count: 895
Warnings: None
Notes: I was inspired to write this late last night, imagining the way Toshizo might share a dance with his beloved daughter. And at the same time it serves as a memory from her past. It also leaves speculation that Prompto had seen her for the first time~ Since it isn’t mentionned, that’s who Jae is dating~
Inspirational Music: Valse di Fantastica
Beautiful were the days that Jaekey spent bonding with the man that had adopted her, and with her final day in Insomnia coming to an end, she would soon be departing, relocating to Lestallum for the time being.
The day was sunny and warm, with a gentle breeze that lightly caressed the flesh of her cheeks and gracefully lifted strands of red. Toshizo had made the suggestion that they venture around the city, take in the sights that Jae had missed over the last two years and just embrace the final day before her departure. To be able to spend time with the man she looked up to as her father, was more than accepted by her, not truly ready to leave her new family behind once more.
They traversed the streets together, talking and laughing, hand in hand. It was one of the few times you could see Toshizo smiling, brimming with pride as he seemed to show off the joy in his life that was Jaekey. It mattered not where the streets took them, the embraced the time in each others presence. While Toshizo was dressed in his rather formal attire, Jaekey had taken a different approach to her style, deciding upon a red dress that accentuated her rather lithe form, fitting her perfectly as it fanned out, coming down just to the point of her mid-thigh, where knee-high boots covered most of her legs. At first, she wasn't sure how her father would react, but upon seeing her, he had told her that she looked stunning and that she had grown into such a beautiful young woman who he was proud of.
It was a particular street that had Toshizo coming to an abrupt stop, the sound of music carrying beautifully around them. Jaekey had tried to continue walking but when he had stopped, with her hand in his, she stumbled a bit as she stopped and turned towards him, hazel hues shimmering with a curiosity. Toshizo was a man who loved music; what he heard was more than appealing, causing him to gently pull Jaekey towards him.
"You know, sweetheart, I may never get a chance like this." He placed his free hand on the small of her back, keeping his other hand wrapped around hers.
"A chance like what?" Jaekey almost had to laugh, but rather, her face had taken on a light shade of pink when she was pulled in.
"To dance with my daughter." He smiled, the music flourishing into an enchanted melody.
"F-father..." Now she was laughing, a gentle shake of her head as she brought her hand up to rest against on his shoulder.
At first, he said nothing more, instead gently leading her, moving to the sound of the music, but never once losing the grace as they moved back and forth, slowly turning in circles as it carried them in the open space. His hand had left her back as he guided her to spin out, the hand on his shoulder sliding away as her dress fanned around her before she spun back in. She couldn't help the laughter that left her, her gaze upon him, never once leaving.
"And I want memories you can carry with you, so no matter what befalls you when you're out there on your own, you have one of many things to look back upon. A man wants the very best for his beloved daughter, after all." He hummed to the tune as they began to move back and forth together, "and most importantly, for their daughter to be happy."
Jaekey felt as if she could cry at that moment, Toshizo may not have been her biological father, but damn if he didn't feel like he was. This man had taken her in when she lost it all, had built her up, helped her grow, and now he was setting her free into the world. In this very moment, the world around them had disappeared, and Jae was overwhelmed with a happiness she could never put into words.
"Thank you, father... For this... For everything..."
The music had come to an end, and so had their dance. It left Jaekey to wrap her arms around Toshizo as she let her eyes close.
"I'm going to miss you..."
Not only had Jae been gifted with one final day in the Crown City, she was feeling more blessed by the Gods having spent this time with the one figure in her life who wanted nothing but the best for her. She was swept away by sudden embarrassment as she pulled away from her father, her eyes pulled to a group sitting at a table eating lunch together, who were subtly staring at the two. She recognized them, Noctis, Ignis and Gladio, though she had never seen Prompto before, and off to the side was Cor. It left Jae laughing, Toshizo glancing over to see what looked like Cor smirking at him.
Toshizo paid it no mind, bending down to press a kiss to the top of Jae's head, "let's keep moving, there's still much to do before you set off."
She nodded, but her mind kept coming back to dancing with her father, of all the things they had done, never once had she thought about sharing such a dance with him. That memory, she would carry with her, forever.

The Strength of a Thousand Men Characters: Toshizo Carmnine, Jaekey Lefebvre, Cor Leonis, ????? Warnings: Uhm violence I guess, though it isn't graphic~ Word Count: 1868
Notes: For those who have read Toshizo's backstory, this may be triggering for the fact he was abandoned as a child. But it's more so to show his strength, how what happened to him as a child fueled and drove him to become that man he is now~
Simple; that was the definition of this hunt when it came to the trio coming together. Traditionally, Verseon would have joined Toshizo and Cor, but with other obligations when working closely with Monica and Dustin, his hands were tied. Jaekey was the suggested third party, and while at first, Toshizo was apprehensive of bringing her, Cor and Verseon both backed the suggestion. Since training under the trio on several separate occasions, she was one of the few who knew how they all moved and worked with one another when they banded together.
The hunt was nothing they had expected; its difficulty far higher than outlined for factors that were not brought into consideration, after all, why would they be? It was a plan, a trap all along by a man long forgotten, by a man whose memory had died years ago, yet here he was, daring to make an appearance.
"Unfortunate that you're still alive, and yet, I never imagined you'd show up here."
Jaekey's brow furrowed, a confused expression etched upon her features as she went to take a step forward, only to have Cor reach out and grab her wrist, pulling her carefully to his side before stepping in front of her. "Stay back, you're capable of fighting, but this man... This is not our battle."
"Wh-what?" Jaekey was completely thrown off by this, she had no idea who this man was before them, or why it was not 'our battle' as Cor had so bluntly put it.
Before Cor could even deliver an explanation, silence loomed in the open field. The sky had darkened hours ago, gentle wisps of clouds feathered across the sky while the moon beamed brightly above them. Toshizo's voice had broken through as he stepped forward, his head held high as he met the gaze of a stranger in his eyes, with his own.
"What reasons would there be for me to not be alive? I was given purpose, my life was given meaning in a time when I thought all hope was lost. I fought for this life, I've earned my place." His voice was strong, never once wavering, even when the abandoned child within him screamed out, cried for Toshizo to do more than just speak.
"A simple answer lays before you, a curse, of course. You were a curse from the moment you were granted life. Wandering aimlessly through this life, the roads that spanned before you..." And suddenly, his voice trailed off, crystalline hues falling upon Jaekey. His movements were quick, leaving him able to pass Toshizo and Cor. "And just who is this lovely gem you're travelling with? Such beauty and yet, she radiates such a familiar aura..."
Jaekey was stunned, hazel hues brought up to meet crystal hues, discomfort written upon her face as she stepped back when this man had the nerve to raise his arm in an attempt to reach out and touch her cheek. Cor had acted quickly at the moment, Toshizo following without a thought being processed as he watched Cor bring Jaekey backwards, out of his reach. His body seemed to move on its own, katana drawn out as he forced the stranger back. He glared down at the man he now towered over, anger burning in his eyes as his expression was pulled into a scowl.
"My now, aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves, perhaps I'm simply curious about the people you hold close, perhaps I'm curious to see just what kind of bonds a bastard like you created." Low laughter rumbled in his chest before it escaped parted lips, "isn't this such a touching reunion? Father and son reunited after all these years, though your existence still disappoints me. Do they know what you did? Why she actually died?"
"A bastard like me, huh?" Toshizo clicked his tongue, though his thoughts suddenly soured at the questions that followed such statements of his curiosity. "As yours does me. What did I do? I did nothing, and it took me nearly ten years to understand none of it was because of me. She died because she was ill. You place a false hunt request, get me out here to waste my time and the time of others, and I'm the bastard? You abandoned your home, the king you swore your life to protect, your own flesh and blood, all because you couldn't handle the bitter reality, that life was out of your control... And I'm the bastard..."
Behind Toshizo, Jaekey was standing next to Cor, both her hands around one of his. He had his own katana drawn, ready to jump into action if need be, but the moment he realized just who the man before them was, his promise had kicked in, that he would protect Jaekey if the need had ever arisen.
Ever since Jaekey had come into Toshizo's life, she had become one of the most precious treasures in his life. She made this impact upon everyone she had met, a kindness that wasn't lost but was sometimes hard to find, she was a light in the darkness, a chance at truly living where Toshizo had thought he failed.
"Cor... I... I don't understand..." Her voice came out as a whisper, hazel hues trailing up slowly to meet vibrant blue ones. She wasn't one to show fear, but this man that she had learned was Toshizo's father, his aura was intimidating to her, overbearing to the point she felt her existence would crush beneath it.
"Right now, it's best that you don't understand. Just stay close, if Toshizo needs back-up, we'll jump in together." His voice wasn't any louder than hers, and while staying silent would have been the better option, he needed to keep Jaekey calm and keep her from trying to step in.
The atmosphere had heated up with an almost palpable intensity, thick like a lump in your throat that you just couldn't clear. Heated glares were exchanged, words tossed back and forth, tearing sharply like the blades of born katanas. It was Toshizo's words that had fueled the flames.
"Perhaps it was the right decision- What man in their right mind would want to be a father to a child who caused nothing but..."
"Stop blaming me for your failures! I know that mom died because of her illness, nothing you or I could have done will change that. I was five years old, sure I understood what was going on, but I never understood what caused such hate to build inside you. I have accepted the things that I can't change, I moved forward, grew into a man I know my mother would have been proud of. From the start, she knew what you were..."
"Don't speak of her- You're unworthy to keep yourself attached to such a bond. Wither away, like you were destined to. I hate you because you ruined my life..."
"No. Luke Carmnine. You ruined your life." Toshizo's voice had calmed, "to wither away, would go against everything I stand for, everything I've fought for... I've still got countless things and people to protect." He chose to dismiss his father's words on him being unworthy, he didn't have to prove his worth.
Space had built between them, but their gazes never broke. Toshizo had awakened a beast, a beast that he had to face. An angry scream left Luke, his katana lifted as he ran towards Toshizo. Quick to react, Toshizo's blade was raised as steel clashed together, sparks erupting from the sheer force and strength each man held.
They drew weapons back time and time, the momentum created as they moved, lunging forward and jumping back, flipping into the air to enhance the strength of their blows. The sound of blades colliding echoed, wind whipping around as their movements picked up speed. Each dodged and ducked attempts of blades coming down upon them.
Jaekey's grip on Cor's hand tightened as she watched the battle unfold, it was a side of Toshizo she had never seen. She knew of his combat abilities, but never had he put on such a display; he was up against a formidable opponent, a battle in which hate-fueled their drive. This man he fought was the reason Toshizo gave his all, the reason why he fought with such determination. Cor pulled her close to himself. The further the battle raged on, the closer Toshizo and Luke got to them, but he knew Jaekey wouldn't leave.
"Why do you fight so hard?! What have you truly to protect? Would they offer you the same protection?"
His blade came quickly, barely missing Toshizo as he bent himself back before flipping to create a gap between them, spinning when his feet hit the ground. He used this momentum to leap forward once more, his blade coming down to connect with Luke's shoulder. It caused Luke's eyes to widen, momentarily stunned, unable to make a move.
"Whether they would offer me the same protection or not... I owe it to them... To the world for making me what I am today!" Toshizo pulled the blade back, using his body this time, centring his target to Luke's chest, he brought his leg up and forward in a swift kick, sending the man back.
Once more they lunged towards each other, even with the injury one had sustained. Toshizo wasn't without a scratch, but his need to end this, his need to keep Jaekey safe, to keep those in his life safe, it gave him power that Luke could never hold. Blades clashed until he found his opening, his blade striking down against the other before he slid it back and charged through, piercing through Luke's abdomen.
Silence suddenly took over, easily filled with the heavy breathing, but both men were still. Toshizo's hands gripped the handle of his katana, his once blue eyes cast into a hue of purple, a colour reminiscent of his mothers.
Gargled laughter had reached Toshizo's ears, Luke's gaze upon him as he smiled, a softness in crystalline hues that Toshizo had never seen before.
"J-Just... Just like her..."
Toshizo continued to keep his hold firm, his gaze narrowing, "we will meet again, father... And next time... You will not walk away... Heal yourself, try and see the world through eyes other than your own. Maybe next time... You won't be so keen on destroying the only thing you have left in this world."
He pulled his blade away, watching the man crumple to the ground, holding where the blade once was. "Can't... Can't even... Finish the job..."
Toshizo was more than ready to end it with those words, but Jaekey had pulled herself away from Cor, rushing to Toshizo's side, even when she was told not to.
"Father stop... Please... Don't become what he wants you to become..."
Jaekey was the light in Toshizo's heart that erased the need to destroy his father. He pulled the girl into his arms, katana discarded into nothing with a flick of his wrist. He had been given another gift.
"I won't finish you off because I don't want her to see that. She's my daughter, and she is who I will continue to protect..."

“Elegance dances in a music box to a rustic tune of memories from long ago. Turn the gear and bring him to life as he retells the tale of sadness for he is the master of misery, the shadows in the darkness. Allow his beauty to come to life so he may breathe once more.”

Some quick little notes about my FFXV self-insert~
Actual name is Jaekey “AJ” Lefebvre
There are a total of three selfships~ The backstory remains the same aside for a few tweaks in each verse~
My OC Toshizo also has an FFXV version and is my self-inserts father. Don’t be mistaken with the original OC Toshizo who is in no way related or intertwined with the FFXV Toshi
The reason I wanted to state these few things is so that I can share some drabbles that I wrote on my personal blog and nobody gets confused when another character named Toshizo makes an appearance. Toshizo Carmnine-Black and Toshizo Carmnine are two separate people. Just like Verseon Black and V2 are two separate people that share names and that’s it :D

Background
Lestallum born and raised up until the age of 7, Jaekey was a bright and optimistic child with a knack for crafting weapons just like her father, though when both parents were offered jobs working in Insomnia, they packed up and moved the young Jaekey to the Crown City. It wasn't a struggle to fit in, able to talk to and make friends with anyone she meets, though when she turned 10, tragedy befell her and she lost both her parents in an accident. She was taken in by Toshizo Carmnine-Black, a member of the Crownsguard who helped her become a strong fighter before she returned to Lestallum when she turned 18. Jaekey was born to Keylynne Lefebvre and her husband, Jaemes Lefebvre on February 23rd in Lestallum. She was a child that stood out with her uncharacteristically red hair and hazel eyes that were often accentuated with the red hue of her hair. Much like her father was, she is skilled at crafting weapons and firearms as well as upgrading them into more powerful weapons, to which most of her own weapons have been crafted by her. Like her mother, she is musically talented, playing the violin, piano, and able to sing as well as being skilled in the kitchen, able to cook even the most difficult dishes; hobbies of which she took to heart and never let go of.
It was rare for anyone to be brought into the Crown City, but unknown circumstances had resulted in a job offer to Jaemes Lefebvre to move there with his family and help in crafting and upgrading weapons for the Crownsguard. This was an opportunity that Keylynne insisted Jaemes take advantage of for the sake of their little girl, to give her an even better upbringing and expanding her horizons by moving to a new place. Albeit sad that she had to leave her friends behind, it was an exciting experience for her as a child, promises of new and exciting adventures awaiting her once they arrived and got settled in.
Adjusting to life in the Crown City had not been difficult for Jaekey. She was quick to make friends, quick to lend a helping hand, just getting herself involved in various activities. The first friend she ever made was Kaden Kankara, an Insomnia born with aspirations to work as a crowns guard in the Citadel. It was something Jaekey always supported her in, doing her best to always encourage Kaden to keep at it. Her own aspiration was to just become a skilled fighter with various tools and weapons, one day wanting to adventure across Eos. Though through it all, Jaekey had ended up losing her parents in an accident that still to this day remains a mystery, though their bodies were found. She had become terrified that she would be sent back on her own to live in Lestallum with a family friend, though the night tragedy struck, Jaekey ran away and for days she was missing until one night when the rain fell heavily, she was found by Toshizo Carmnine-Black, or as he was referred to, The Beast of Insomnia, a man of the shadows. His appearance, it genuinely terrified her, made her fear for her life as she ran desperately to try and escape, worried that he was the one who would see to her getting back to Lestallum; she didn't want to go back on her own. She found herself a hiding place behind a building, though he was quick to find her, this time, however, there was a woman with him, she looked kind enough, calling out to Jaekey letting her know it was okay and that neither her nor Toshizo were there to hurt her. She finally came out, and they took her to their home where she explained her situation. The loss of her parents had already been known to Toshizo, hearing it from Cor the day it happened, which had him looking for her. Unbeknownst to Jaekey, the parents that raised her were not her biological parents, and despite looking like Toshizo, she has never been able to make the connection, the man opting not to tell her, feeling she was not prepared for such information. They, however, were quick to offer her a room in their home, immediately taking her under their wing, raising her as if she were their own flesh and blood.
Over the years, Jaekey trained on a daily basis, not with just Toshizo, but her best friend and on occasion Cor, who recognized her battle prowess and wanted to help assist in honing her skills and through it, she developed her own style of fighting, close combat with a mix of katana's when the need arose for it. She still finds that her skills are lacking, always doing her best to better herself, though she also admires Kaden's abilities for she feels they far exceed her own, but knew better than to compare herself, especially when together, the two created a devastating combination. When Jaekey turned 18, she made the decision to move back to Lestallum on her own, the decision supported by Toshizo and his wife. On the day she had departed, it was a sad moment in time, the last time she would take a picture standing next to her best friend, though when they had to say their goodbye's, they agreed it wasn't goodbye, it was seeing you later. It had taken a few trips with Toshizo and his wife, but, they travelled with Jaekey to Lestallum, helping her to find her apartment there, getting her moved in and making sure that she had everything she needed to live comfortably and still take care of herself. She was quick to get settled in, taking up a job upgrading weapons of local hunters that passed through and needed it. She found a happiness being back in Lestallum, often having Toshizo and his wife coming down to visit her whenever Toshizo's schedule allowed it.
Several years later, tragedy struck once more
Jaekey had never expected the events to occur that had taken place in the Crown City and caused it to fall, nor had she expected that knock on her door, and her best friend on the other side. Things were in shambles, but Jaekey was quick to bring Kaden into her home, doing her best to help get her back on her feet until she was hired as a hunter with Jaekey in Lestallum, though Jaekey only became a hunter to stay close to her best friend. Inseparable from when they both lived in Insomnia and inseparable now, they travel around trying to make the best of life even when days seem their darkest.

Eternal Bonds of Blood | Toshizo Carmnine-Black and Jaekey Lefebvre

Characters: Toshizo Carmnine-Black, Verseon Black Warnings: None Notes: (So both Toshizo and Verseon are REALLY tall. Toshizo is 6′9 and Verseon is 7′3. The perks to having OCs that are apart of my self-inserts world means I can share silly drabbles like this!) Word Count: 559
“For fuck sakes! Every single time! Why are your door frames so fucking short, Toshi!?”
That was all it took for Toshizo’s laughter to fill the room. He had been effectively distracted, but perhaps he needed the break. It took a few minutes, but once his laughter had died off, he couldn’t help but smirk, violet hues alight with amusement.
“Why do you always forget to duck? It’s not my fault you’re taller than I am or that I know how to effectively duck when I enter or leave a room.”
“Hey! I didn’t ask to be this fucking tall, it just happened, okay?”
Clearly annoyed, Verseon grabbed one of the chairs by the door, sliding it over to sit across from Toshizo. He leaned over, using his elbows to prop himself up. Toshizo was mesmerized, violet hues unable to break away from staring at the dark red marking across Verseon’s forehead.
“Wow- That looks like it really hurts…”
“You think?!”
“Let me get a closer look.”
Verseon was unsettled by this, but still, even as he squinted, he leaned forward a bit. Toshizo’s smirk had fallen into a straight line as he seemed to be assessing the bump that was starting to form, but he didn’t really feel all that worried. Gently, Toshizo ran his fingers over the mark, watching as Verseon winced at the contact. Just when he thought Toshizo was going to pull his hand away, he was met with a harsh flick to the forehead that caused his hands to come up and cover his forehead.
“Ow! What the hell?!”
“Let that serve as a lesson. First off, duck. Secondly, don’t destroy my home, because I know you didn’t clean up whatever you knocked over. Idiot.”
“It’s not my fault you have so much stuff. Not all of us can slip through the cracks anymore.”
“Uh huh. Whatever you say, dude.”
