Geo Gryphon was born as Gryphon, an Earthbound God through being the child of Aslla Piscu and Ccarayhua. There had never been a natural-born God prior to his birth, with all Gods being created single-handedly by Wiraqocha Rasca and Wiraqocha Rasca being known as Viracocha prior to their fall, and so there was a great outcry amongst the Gods. Aslla Piscu wanted to keep the child and raise them as a God, as she believed they rightfully ought to be, Ccarayhua wanted both Aslla Piscu to be happy and the continued wholeness of their new family, and Chacu Challhua, though they were not the father of the child, supported Aslla Piscu’s view of the matter, wishing along with Ccarayhua for her happiness, but they were the only three to speak positively of the child. Cusillu wished to dissect the babe, citing a desire to study the effects on the body being a child of two Gods had, Uru demanded the ‘abomination’ be eradicated, claiming it was an affront to the true Gods that such a creature existed, with Ccapac Apu supporting them and offering to kill them themselves, more in a drive to spite Aslla Piscu than in any desire to maintain the purity of the Gods. Wiraqocha Rasca listened to each in turn, then announced only that they would deal with the matter themselves.
Later, Wiraqocha Rasca came to Aslla Piscu and told her of their plan; she would be able to keep the baby until they were weaned, then Wiraqocha Rasca would alter their mind to have them believe they were not a God, but an Earthbound Servant – an idea Wiraqocha Rasca had been musing on prior to Gryphon’s birth. Though Aslla Piscu railed against her father’s plan, wishing to keep her child, she was eventually brought to understanding by Wiraqocha Rasca assuring her that when their plan was fully enacted, she could choose a favourite Servant, including Gryphon, to have by her side; her only condition being she could favour them, obviously, but could not treat them in an obvious familial manner. They were to be a Servant, and though they were her son by blood, they could not be her son by bond.
Gryphon underwent in-depth and severe mental conditioning, the truth of their identity hidden away behind Wiraqocha Rasca’s manipulation. They were conditioned to believe they were the first created Earthbound Servant, to explain away their more advanced age and larger size, and that their name was, in full, Earthbound Servant Geo Gryphon, their memories of Aslla Piscu and Ccarayhua as their parents removed entirely. Wiraqocha Rasca also altered their appearance, that they might hide the truth of their heritage: Cusillu was requisitioned, under careful watch from Wiraqocha Rasca, to enhance their body with metal, embedding it into their flesh so that none could see the intense resemblance to both Aslla Piscu and Ccarayhua in their natural face. Cusillu grafted a dark steel mask onto their head and a steel vest onto their torso, surgically bonding it to their skeletal structure. Wiraqocha Rasca allowed Cusillu some free reign in the design, resulting in the metal bars bolted to their helmet’s maw preventing them from fully opening their mouth, the maw-like metal bolted and screwed into their tail, and the thick metal-centred leather bands around their legs and wings. The bands themselves are not grafted into the bones as the helm is but wound tightly around their flesh to the point if Geo Gryphon grows any larger, they will begin to embed themselves in their flesh. It is because of these additions that Geo Gryphon is in constant pain, as Cusillu did not enhance them with any internal bolstering to keep the pain at bay.
Aslla Piscu was not made aware of these additions to Geo Gryphon.

When creating the Earthbound Servants, Wiraqocha Rasca took pains to have them resemble two or more of the Earthbound Gods. This was not their original plan, but following Geo Gryphon’s birth, they created the Servants to support the mental alterations Geo Gryphon underwent. They took thematic colours or features from each God, and used them to create the Servants. Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper took their colours from Ccapac Apu and the basis for their form from Chacu Challhua, with some influence from Aslla Piscu. Earthbound Servant Geo Kraken took their colours from Wiraqocha Rasca and the basis for their form from Chacu Challhua, with a hint of Cusillu in their markings. Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker took their colours from Aslla Piscu and the basis for their form from Ccapac Apu and hints of Cusillu, while Earthbound Linewalker took their colours alone from Wiraqocha Rasca, their form an original concept based on no God as they were stylised instead on the concept of a Dark Signer in monster form. Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlin took their colours from Ccapac Apu and their form from Ccapac Apu, in one of the few instances where Wiraqocha Rasca took both colour and concept from the same God, although there were hints of Chacu Challhua about them, and Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlina took their colours from Cusillu and their form from Ccapac Apu. Earthbound Prisoner Ground Keeper took their colours from Chacu Challhua and their form from Ccapac Apu, with a touch of Uru in their face. Earthbound Servant Glasya-Labolas took their colour from Uru and, in a rather unique showing, took the basis for their form from four Gods; Wiraqocha Rasca as the primary inspiration, with Uru, Aslla Piscu, and Cusillu as secondary inspirations.
Following Wiraqocha Rasca’s bargain with Aslla Piscu, the others were likewise extended the same courtesy, with each allowed to choose their preferred servants. Chacu Challhua chose Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper and Earthbound Servant Geo Kraken as theirs, although they prefer Stone Sweeper over Geo Kraken, as Geo Kraken is too strange and queer by their standards. Ccapac Apu chose both Geo Gremlin and Geo Gremlina as his servants, with Cusillu choosing Earthbound Linewalker to be their more intelligent Servant and Line Walker as their chosen muscle, to be used when Cusillu needed items to be moved as they wished. Uru did not choose a specific servant, believing all should serve him equally with no bias towards any God, but tends towards Glasya-Labolas if they are available, finding some note of pleasure in their being their colour. Yuraq Allqu, unlike their other Gods, chose no servant and does not call regularly upon them, preferring to do their own work. Ccarayhua, like Aslla Piscu, chose Geo Gryphon alone, and Wiraqocha Rasca elects to use only Glasya-Labolas. While they are aware of Uru’s preference for them, Wiraqocha Rasca took Glasya-Labolas as their own personal servant, not sharing them with Uru or any other God unless the mood strikes them. Glasya-Labolas has been instructed to only respond to Wiraqocha Rasca’s calls, unless given express permission to attend to another God by Wiraqocha Rasca, but has also been instructed to answer Aslla Piscu’s calls unless otherwise notified by Wiraqocha Rasca, as Rasca’s ‘treat’ to their favourite child. Aslla Piscu’s ‘right’ to Glasya-Labolas is rescinded when Wiraqocha Rasca tires of her bratty behaviour, taking the rare stance of punishing her to teach her better over sitting back in pleasure at her irritating their less-favoured children.

The Earthbound Gods have no perception of gender. It is a human construct, not theirs, and they find it does not apply to them. Each of their divine forms are genderless, lacking both genitalia to apply a sex to them and any sort of inclination to label themselves as the humans do to apply a gender to them. They are all capable of presenting themselves in any gender of human form, although Ccapac Apu and Aslla Piscu have their own personal preferences, and all utilise the neutral pronouns they/them.
Again, Ccapac Apu and Aslla Piscu are the outliers, with Ccapac Apu utilising male pronouns as well as neutral and Aslla Piscu utilising female pronouns. They all share the same view on gender, however, and refuse to bend to human created labels.

Although Wiraqocha Rasca created the rest of the Earthbound Gods around the same point of time, they were not created in the same instant. He formed them of his own will as being of pure evil intent, and though they were all created by him, they are not biologically related to one another nor to their ‘father’. It is the choice of the Gods themselves as to how they refer to Wiraqocha Rasca, with Chacu Challhua, Ccarayhua, Ccapac Apu, and Yuraq Allqu choosing to see them as a father figure and Cusillu and Uru seeing them exclusively as a creator figure and the leader of them all.
Wiraqocha Rasca, as the creator of the Gods and former Nazcan sun deity, is the oldest and original Earthbound God. Uru is the oldest of their ‘children’, followed by Cusillu as the second. Ccapac Apu is older than Ccarayhua and Aslla Piscu, who are the same age, being the only two to come into being at the same time. Chacu Challhua follows Aslla Piscu, and Yuraq Allqu follows them.
Geo Gryphon was born when the Earthbound Gods were still very young and beginning to establish themselves as a worldwide threat. Although Wiraqocha Rasca had already begun to put into place the creation of servants, Gryphon’s birth prompted them to accelerate the plan. Gryphon was taken from Aslla once no longer dependent on her (and thus appearing fully grown in his divine form, despite only being a scant few months old) and had his mind altered to believe he was the first Earthbound Servant and therefore the oldest.
Gryphon is simultaneously the youngest God and oldest Servant. However, he remains unaware of his true status as a God and does not qualify as such in his or anyone else’s mind. He is always quick to assert he is a Servant -- to compare himself to his masters and mistress would be sacrilege in his eyes.

Although the Earthbound Gods’ physical forms are imprisoned in the Nazca Lines through the power of the Crimson Dragon, all the gods are capable of projecting themselves spiritually beyond their geoglyphs. It is through this power that they are able to communicate with their chosen Dark Signer and potential targets. When they have formed their symbiotic bond with their Signer, they are able to use this bond to project not only as a voice in the backs of their minds, but physically appear exclusively in a human form.
Their bond with their Dark Signers also allot the chosen revived human access to their Duel Monster card, but they cannot be summoned in a duel without the appropriate sacrifice of souls. These souls do not have to be ‘fresh’, as seen with Chacu Challhua being summoned with the souls of Bommer’s destroyed village, which happened at least a number of months before Bommer’s duel with Crow in order to allow Bommer to travel from Peru to Japan and all the preliminaries and associated matters in regards to the Fortune Cup, and in the case of Cusillu, where the souls of the duel monsters frozen in stone by Zeman were gathered over a relatively long period of time. Also in regards to Cusillu, the souls necessary to summon the Earthbound Gods do not need to be human, only that they need to be living.
If the Gods have been summoned, but the duel must be postponed due to reasons outside of their control, such as destruction of the environment due to the Gods’ attacks doing physical damage, the souls used to summon the Gods carry over to the next time they are summoned, as seen in the duels between Misty/Aki, Divine/Carly and Kiryu/Yusei. In the Misty and Carly duels, this is due to the environment being destroyed, whereas in Kiryu’s duel it is because Yusei cannot legally continue the duel with his D-Wheel being destroyed. These souls are then used again the next time the Gods are summoned, as they are still legitimate sacrifices to summon the gods.
When the Gods are destroyed in a duel, killed, and therefore returned to the geoglyphs where they must wait another 5000 years to accrue enough energy to defy the Nazca Lines and escape again, all the souls used to summon them are released and returned to life. Any buildings that were damaged in the collection of souls, as seen in Bommer’s hometown being restored as well as the people, are also returned.

The markings on each Earthbound God are capable of glowing with a bioluminescent light. Each radiates their respective colours: Chacu Challhua glows purple, Ccarayhua green, Aslla Piscu orange, Cusillu yellow, Ccapac Apu blue, Uru red, Wiraqocha Rasca lilac-pink, and Yuraq Allqu white.
Ccarayhua, however, glows more vibrantly than any other of the Gods. When looking at this light, it can induce nausea, anxiousness, extreme emotion, a sense of hopelessness, and headaches in the viewer. As their child, Geo Gryphon may also cause a lesser variant of these effects -- with the alterations done to their body by Cusillu, the metal plating on their body designed to smother and subdue their divine nature and subjugate them, they no longer cause the full extent of these effects, with only a lesser sense of hopelessness and dread being instilled in the viewer as a result.

The Earthbound Gods do not need to breathe. They exist in insubstantial forms, unaffected by the needs of the physical flesh, and are not bound by the limitations of mortal forms. When underwater or utilising its insubstantiality, Chacu Challhua does not need to breathe and so does not have a blowhole.
The Gods can choose to breathe, however. Most tend to do so, if only to take advantage of the freedom in breathing open air. Geo Gryphon in particular relies on breathing; the constant pain it is under from the physical alterations Cusillu carried out on them is made worse by a lack of breathing, and is only barely alleviated by the act.

The Earthbound Gods can speak most every language. They know several dead languages from their own time and with every new envoy they take, they assimilate all the languages they know and are capable of speaking them as though they had learned them themselves.
At the time of taking Bommer as a host, Chacu Challhua knows Japanese, English, Spanish, Aymara, Quechua, Classical and modern Nahuatl, and all other indigenous languages of Mexico, as well as several ancient languages. At the time of taking Misty as a host, Ccarayhua knows Japanese, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Aymara, Quechua, and all other languages detailed above. Wiraqocha Rasca and Cusillu are the most proficient in languages, Uru close behind them, while Yuraq Allqu, as the youngest and hence having had less Dark Signers, is the least.
Geo Gryphon, in comparison, knows only the languages the Gods allow it to. Although they are an Earthbound God by birthright, the alterations done to their mind by Wiraqocha Rasca have shaped them to believe they are and mentally qualify themselves as an Earthbound Servant. With Rasca’s block in place, they does not assimilate languages from humans, but can be gifted the knowledge of a language by one of the Gods through physical contact – typically taking the form of a hand on the head – and the will of the God in question. They knows Quechua, Classic and Modern Nahuatl, Japanese, and English through its own merit, having learned Latin and several dead languages through Cusillu’s refusal to have anything but a learned servant.

Despite what is shown in across all the series’, all duel monsters can talk. All subspecies have their own language – the Spellcaster archetype have the language their spells are written in, the dragons have the draconic of their ancestors, Kuribohs, Kuribons and the Kuri clans have their trills and calls with their own interspecies dialects – but there is one unifying language across the entirety of the Spirit World for all monsters to share.
There are dialects of it across the monsters – one cannot expect an Acorno to speak the same as a Blue-Eyes or the Crimson Dragon – but the language for the largest part is the same. Beyond the spirit language, monsters can speak English and Japanese – as well as any other languages their duelists might know. Conversely, there has only been one instance of a human learning to speak as a spirit: the Duel Monster Yubel. A human born long before the Duel Spirits were bound to cards, Yubel became a hybrid of human and Duel Monster, believed to be a Duel Monster entirely once the spirits were bound to the cards, in order to serve as the guardian of Yuki Judai’s ancestor and guide him in growing to control the Gentle Darkness. They are the sole example of a human becoming a Duel Spirit, though no spirit will speak of their heritage as a falsely engineered monster.

“Although this wicked will was sealed within the earth,  just as rainwater seeps underground over time, it has spread over this entire planet with every moment passing by. Look at the world now. War, poverty, incurable disease, economic turmoil – not a scrap of peace from the time of the People of the Stars lingers. The only available utopia is Neo Domino City. Do you now understand? The wicked gods sealed in Nazca will soon be resurrected, by feeding off the evil in people’s hearts…”
Although Ccarayhua’s favoured human form is of a Native American male, they occasionally choose to present themselves as a white male. The ethnicities of the Earthbound Gods’ human forms vary depending on personal desire and preference, but Ccarayhua has a far darker reason for utilising a white human form. They are intensely aware of the privileges white people have over all other races and choose to subvert it to better undermine humanity. They utilise the privileges white people have to better entrench and endear themselves in human hearts, all in order to cause all the more pain to humans when it is revealed their icon meant all life harm and sought to kill them all. Likewise the other Earthbound Gods follow Ccarayhua’s example for the same reasons: to weaponise the privileges of white people and utilise them for their own cause. They are not exempt from the racism faced by people of colour, regardless of their status as wicked gods, however. They see racism and the divide between humanity as a sign their influence is spreading, allowing humanity to fail and bring themselves closer to being swallowed by the Underworld, but they do not take racist remarks towards them lightly. They do not support social justices in any capacity, including the eradication of racism and racial prejudices amongst humans, but if anyone is racist towards them, they will exact their full fury and show what it means to insult a god.
