When creating the Earthbound Servants, Wiraqocha Rasca took pains to have them resemble two or more of the Earthbound Gods. This was not their original plan, but following Geo Gryphon’s birth, they created the Servants to support the mental alterations Geo Gryphon underwent. They took thematic colours or features from each God, and used them to create the Servants. Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper took their colours from Ccapac Apu and the basis for their form from Chacu Challhua, with some influence from Aslla Piscu. Earthbound Servant Geo Kraken took their colours from Wiraqocha Rasca and the basis for their form from Chacu Challhua, with a hint of Cusillu in their markings. Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker took their colours from Aslla Piscu and the basis for their form from Ccapac Apu and hints of Cusillu, while Earthbound Linewalker took their colours alone from Wiraqocha Rasca, their form an original concept based on no God as they were stylised instead on the concept of a Dark Signer in monster form. Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlin took their colours from Ccapac Apu and their form from Ccapac Apu, in one of the few instances where Wiraqocha Rasca took both colour and concept from the same God, although there were hints of Chacu Challhua about them, and Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlina took their colours from Cusillu and their form from Ccapac Apu. Earthbound Prisoner Ground Keeper took their colours from Chacu Challhua and their form from Ccapac Apu, with a touch of Uru in their face. Earthbound Servant Glasya-Labolas took their colour from Uru and, in a rather unique showing, took the basis for their form from four Gods; Wiraqocha Rasca as the primary inspiration, with Uru, Aslla Piscu, and Cusillu as secondary inspirations.
Following Wiraqocha Rasca’s bargain with Aslla Piscu, the others were likewise extended the same courtesy, with each allowed to choose their preferred servants. Chacu Challhua chose Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper and Earthbound Servant Geo Kraken as theirs, although they prefer Stone Sweeper over Geo Kraken, as Geo Kraken is too strange and queer by their standards. Ccapac Apu chose both Geo Gremlin and Geo Gremlina as his servants, with Cusillu choosing Earthbound Linewalker to be their more intelligent Servant and Line Walker as their chosen muscle, to be used when Cusillu needed items to be moved as they wished. Uru did not choose a specific servant, believing all should serve him equally with no bias towards any God, but tends towards Glasya-Labolas if they are available, finding some note of pleasure in their being their colour. Yuraq Allqu, unlike their other Gods, chose no servant and does not call regularly upon them, preferring to do their own work. Ccarayhua, like Aslla Piscu, chose Geo Gryphon alone, and Wiraqocha Rasca elects to use only Glasya-Labolas. While they are aware of Uru’s preference for them, Wiraqocha Rasca took Glasya-Labolas as their own personal servant, not sharing them with Uru or any other God unless the mood strikes them. Glasya-Labolas has been instructed to only respond to Wiraqocha Rasca’s calls, unless given express permission to attend to another God by Wiraqocha Rasca, but has also been instructed to answer Aslla Piscu’s calls unless otherwise notified by Wiraqocha Rasca, as Rasca’s ‘treat’ to their favourite child. Aslla Piscu’s ‘right’ to Glasya-Labolas is rescinded when Wiraqocha Rasca tires of her bratty behaviour, taking the rare stance of punishing her to teach her better over sitting back in pleasure at her irritating their less-favoured children.

[01:43:01] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: i have a legit headcanon for them [01:43:08] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: for his whole dark signer outfit actually [01:43:28] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: have you noticed when he has the cloak on, it makes him look bigger/buffer than he actually is [01:43:39] tiddy bangos: yes
[01:45:20] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: like here, see how his shoulders look so much bigger with the cloak on? [01:45:58] tiddy bangos: yes yes yes [01:45:59] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: what do some animals do when they’re attacking and defensive? they make themselves look bigger, fluffing their fur up that kind of thing although we never see the trousers he wears underneath, i’d bet any money he wears the outer covers to make himself look bigger/more intimidating yes he could just wear a baggy pair of trousers but this is yugioh fashion we’re talking about here more zips and unnecessary things than a kingdom hearts game like even though he’s back from the dead and ccapac apu likely restored SOME body mass to him bringing him back to ease the transition into dark signer and help build up his body ( because lets be honest, a dark signer whose body is too weak to support them standing up isn’t going to do much ), kiryu still had to work hard to gain and maintain the muscles needed to drive a d-wheel, but he’s still too thin [01:50:03] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: ignoring his arms, there are instances when you can see the jut of his hipbone in his first duel with yusei
plus compared to his team satisfaction flashbacks, his face doesn’t look AS filled out/more gaunt so he’s clearly still showing some signs of dying via starvation
[01:54:05] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: here, it’s like his jacket is hanging off him, even though it was likely custom made through….fuck if i know, underworld hoodoo or something, it still doesn’t sit right and you can see how defined his collarbones are [01:54:29] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: plus you can see like….the line of his jugular in that one so he’s clearly not put on a lot of weight [01:55:11] tiddy bangos: inhales poor child [01:55:18] tiddy bangos: now i feel bad about the disco pants
[01:57:44] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: you can see in these (which, fun fact, are the only lower body shots we get of him in these episodes outside of the flashbacks), his belt is HANGING off him, so he’s wearing those outer trousers as another layer to big himself up and look more intimidating to yusei [02:08:01] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: like the dark signer wardrobe is??? another weapon unto them????? kiryu’s makes him look bigger and more intimidating to yusei and plays into the fear factor he canonically says he wants to achieve ;
misty’s is sleek and elegant like she is and looks??? not too different, dark signer symbols excepted, from her original attire which is probably playing into this idea that aki’s powers affect normal every day people (i.e. toby) and that those normal everyday people are her enemy because she stands against them, kills, and terrifies them;
carly’s is a complete departure from her standard clothes which is likely intended to unsettle jack because that’s not something the carly he knows would wear, it’s revealing and all sharp edges and bright colours, whereas carly before was all soft curves and quite muted colours - they were bright, like the blue/white of her shirt and the orange of her gilet, but they seemed to fade into the background, like she wasn’t really noticeable in them (just like how people didn’t really notice her and she was stuck at a two-bit job), while her dark signer uniform is LITERALLY meant to be noticed. it’s bright orange contrasting with pitch black, she’s meant to be noticed and stand out, saying look at me jack, notice me just like she wants him to notice how he feels about her
demak and rudger’s uniforms are utilitarian but still showcasing that edge of danger - bare arms, billowing cloaks and big pants. rudger’s glover going up toward his elbow is definitely a nod to him losing the dragon birthmark - it covers the area where it would be, it’s hiding that part of his past. but all the dark signers’ uniforms are meant to make them look dangerous and intimidating and other , because that’s what they are . they’re “no longer of this world”, they’re sinister and otherworldly and something alien, and you have this terrifying dichotomy between the people the signers know and their alien wardrobe that’s meant to unsettle the signers and work in their favour because the signers are so scared just by their appearance, never mind their dueling. it’s just another weapon in their armoury, and i’ll bet any money all the dark signers know it.
TL;DR - THE DARK SIGNERS WEAPONISE THEIR WARDROBES AND KIRYU’S OUTFIT IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO MAKE HIM LOOK BIGGER AND MORE THREATENING, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HE CANONICALLY STATES “besides, i’m making him go through a living hell. through the earthbound god’s power, he’s got a clear sense of terror. time spent fearing your opponent is the greatest woe to a duelist.“ AND “suffer! shiver in fear! this hell on earth where you’re ruled by fear and consumed by the inferno of terror!” WHICH HE COULD NOT AS STRONGLY ACHIEVE IF HE SHOWED HIS TRUE APPEARANCE VIA SKIN TIGHT CLOTHING AFTER DYING OF STARVATION.

Headcanon time! Would Yusei or Kalin want to adopt kids of their own? What are their favorite types of movies and shows? Are there hobbies or skills you can imagine them wanting to learn other than mechanics and dueling? What kinds of things do they like and dislike eating?
- Would Yusei or Kalin want to adopt kids of their own?
As of right now, in my mainverse canon, Yusei and Kalin don’t particularly want any kids; mostly because neither really know what they want out of life just yet (as long as they’re with each other tbqh.) So, for the time being they’re content with their four cats.
Although Yusei has the tendency to become a father or elder brother to literately any child he comes across, it would still be something he’d severely discuss with Kalin– and he does! (thank god these two have good communication with each other post canon.) They both would want kids..eventually, just not anytime soon because they’re still young, and because of Kalins mental health.
Even post canon, Kalin’s mental health is still kinda shitty– although he has made a ton of progress since he first joined Team 5Ds, having a therapist and he is on medication, it still isn’t the best to be in the spot of taking care of someone… bigger than a cat. There are days where Kalin’s really only gets out of bed to feed the cats or use the washroom, even with Yusei by his side. Yusei doesn’t force Kalin to do anything he doesn’t want to do, and just wants to make sure the other is doing okay. (He’ll close Stardust Mechanics in a heartbeat to take care of Kalin, ok?)
Kalin knows that days like those would inevitably impact his ability to care for a child, he can’t take “me days” because it affects the kid, and Kalin really, really, really wants to be the best the best version of himself possible when they do have a kid around.
Yusei and Kalin have probably also looked into surrogacy, at the suggestion of Akiza (since she is studying to become a doctor afterall,) and would also consider looking into that as an option.
HOWEVER, that all being said, in my thread with Moon’s (burningalma) Takeru, in their 5Ds verse, Kalin does befriend Takeru because of cats and we have joked that Takeru kinda just moves in of his own accord because of said cats. lets be honest knowing me and my love for found family kalin n yus are probably gonna adopt him
IN ANOTHER AU ENTIRELY ON DISCORD, Kalin and Yusei are the super cool dads of Moon’s and Kasa’s (soulburnings) Takeru’s and its nothing but slice of life and the Takeru’s being little shits and its the BEST thing since sliced bread (maybe one day we’ll actually have a thread on tumblr instead of screaming in DMs.)
I’ll be putting the rest of the headcanons under the cut!!
- What are their favorite types of movies and shows?
Neither of the two tend to watch movies or shows. Kalin as a whole feels very disconnected from pop culture, because he was dead for so long (four years is a pretty fair amount of time when you’re in your early 20s,) and generally feels disconnected from society as a whole as a result of it.
For Kalin, there’s also the issue of his ADHD coming into play if he’s not engaged enough by the movie, he’ll have the tendency to just,, zone out and think of other things as it’s playing, and when he tunes in the story has moved so far along already he doesn’t see a point in getting back into it.
Yusei is a workaholic, and I don’t think he’s physically capable of sitting down and actually watching a movie, unless it’s the once-a-month movie night with the rest of Team 5Ds where they all squish themselves onto the couches and floor, but he definitely puts the television on when he’s working and radio isn’t enough background noise, only paying attention occasionally.
Even so, they both have their preferences on what to watch and/or to listen to. I’m 99% sure they’d both like action packed superhero movies, and Yusei probably got Kalin into watching mystery thrillers with him. Kalin definitely enjoys cooking shows, mostly because he is the one of the two of them to cook. Yusei would enjoy those fixer upper shows– like Holmes Does It Right or any show which renovates a neglected historical building (Yusei also fucking loves cheesy romcoms and will get Kalin to sit down with him for them.)
One genre they’d both probably avoid would be horror. Kalin definitely used to love the genre with his whole heart back before he first died, but after the whole shtick with the Dark Signers, I don’t think he can physically digest it anymore– it brings back too many bad memories, especially when the horror movie in question deals with graphic murder and manslaughter, he can’t help but think of when he almost killed Yusei and laughed about it. (Although most horror movies make Yusei uncomfortable typically as he just doesn’t like seeing people in pain, real or not, he’s nowhere near the levels of distressed that Kalin is.)
And with Ccapac Apu’s spirit still residing in Kalin, I’m sure you can imagine all the nasty thoughts that would arise as a result.
- Are there hobbies or skills you can imagine them wanting to learn other than mechanics and dueling?
Of course!! I briefly mentioned it earlier in the last section, and in some other posts, but my Kalin enjoys cooking and baking! It’s something he learned from his mom, who died when he was fairy young, so it’s definitely something he keeps close to his heart. (Much like cooking, his mom taught him how to dance as well and he ended up teaching Yusei when they were Enforcers, so it’s something they still do! Unfortunately Yusei has a harder time catching onto cooking.)
After seeing his therapist for the first couple of sessions, it was suggested that Kalin should keep a book of some kind to write or draw in about what he’s feeling, so he’s have some sort of outlet. (Yusei was the one to really push the idea.) Kalin took up doodling and drawing as a result, and genuinely enjoys doing it (he’s not that good yet and is still early on in the learning process.)
After dueling and mechanics, Yusei’s hobbies tend to be very quiet. He likes reading and going for drives on his runner that don’t really end up anywhere in particular (he LOVES to travel and explore new places, especially more so since Satellite is reunited with New Domino, so he actually can.) I can definitely see him getting possibly into photography (and taking a ton of pictures of Kalin as a result lol,) and as left field as it is, I can see him getting interested in crocheting and knitting SOLELY so he can make sweaters for their cats and maybe hats for Leo and Luna.
The only “not quiet” hobby I can also see him getting into is probably learning the drums, but that’s deadass me projectin since I’m a drummer with a soft spot for band AU’s.
- What kinds of things do they like and dislike eating?
Yusei, by all means, is not a picky eater at all. He’ll basically shut up and eat whatever is given to him, even if it doesn’t taste good at like, all. It’s a lasting effect of trying to survive in Satellite. I can see him liking either savory foods, or very sweet foods with nothing in between– I don’t think he has a favorite food?
Kalin on the other hand, is a lot pickier with his foods– won’t eat certain kinds of vegetables (I can see him hating beets) or other foods unless it’s cooked a certain way. It works out, because Kalin is the one that does the cooking anyways and ranks Kalin’s food just below Martha’s (Kalin and Martha probably do exchange recipes because I can see Kalin trying to make something Yusei enjoyed as a kid for his birthday or something.) His favorite food is probably homemade ice cream, using canned coconut milk, as it’s something his mom made him a lot when she was alive, since whole milk isn’t readily available and cans are much easier to store.
Coincidentally, as you can probably tell, Yusei and Kalin BOTH have big sweet tooths and agree wholeheartedly that the best time of year is sakura season in April, where everything becomes pink and sweet. Although they try to save their money up, they’ll occasionally splurge and go on a shopping trip to raid anything in the supermarket that’s remotely sweet and/or sugary, which when Crow and Jack were living with the two of them, it would often result in Crow getting angry at Jack and calling him a bad influence.
#anon i hope you know i got really really really unreasonably excited when i saw this in my inbox#I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE THE IDEA OF YUSEI AND KALIN HAVIN KIDS ADOPTED OR SURROGATE#also sorry if this is rambly it is 9:06am but ive been up since 3:30am bc my body refused to let me sleep any longer#Anonymous#HEADCANONS:|| Kalin#HEADCANONS:|| Yusei#i love u anon thank u so much!!!!!

The Earthbound Gods can speak most every language. They know several dead languages from their own time and with every new envoy they take, they assimilate all the languages they know and are capable of speaking them as though they had learned them themselves.
At the time of taking Bommer as a host, Chacu Challhua knows Japanese, English, Spanish, Aymara, Quechua, Classical and modern Nahuatl, and all other indigenous languages of Mexico, as well as several ancient languages. At the time of taking Misty as a host, Ccarayhua knows Japanese, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Aymara, Quechua, and all other languages detailed above. Wiraqocha Rasca and Cusillu are the most proficient in languages, Uru close behind them, while Yuraq Allqu, as the youngest and hence having had less Dark Signers, is the least.
Geo Gryphon, in comparison, knows only the languages the Gods allow it to. Although they are an Earthbound God by birthright, the alterations done to their mind by Wiraqocha Rasca have shaped them to believe they are and mentally qualify themselves as an Earthbound Servant. With Rasca’s block in place, they does not assimilate languages from humans, but can be gifted the knowledge of a language by one of the Gods through physical contact -- typically taking the form of a hand on the head -- and the will of the God in question. They knows Quechua, Classic and Modern Nahuatl, Japanese, and English through its own merit, having learned Latin and several dead languages through Cusillu’s refusal to have anything but a learned servant.

Aslla Piscu is Wiraqocha Rasca’s favourite child. Although they did not intend to play favourites when they first created the Gods, the fact she was the only one to appear in their image as the only other bird-based deity soon swayed them, with Wiraqocha Rasca doting on her unlike any other of their children from the time she was a hatchling. Their next favourites are Ccarayhua, by virtue of being Aslla Piscu’s twin and paramour, Chacu Challhua, again for being Aslla Piscu’s lover, then Yuraq Allqu. Cusillu is thought of neither fondly nor disparagingly, being the true equilibrium of a created deity to carry out Wiraqocha Rasca’s plan who follows dutifully with little to no negative qualities to bring down Wiraqocha Rasca’s view of them. Ccapac Apu follows Cusillu, although Wiraqocha Rasca will always claim there is a great chasm of empty space between their view of Cusillu and their view of Ccapac Apu if they were to rank their children.
Ccapac Apu, although keen and eager for the destruction in Wiraqocha Rasca’s plan, likes to irritate and spite Aslla Piscu too much for Wiraqocha Rasca’s liking, with their endless spats and battles angering Wiraqocha Rasca far quicker than any creation of the Signer Dragons. Though they know Ccapac Apu is not the sole instigator, with Aslla Piscu being perhaps even more spiteful and willing to attack her sibling than the Giant, they are far more forgiving with Aslla than they are Ccapac Apu, and so he bears the larger portion of their ire.
Their most misliked child, despite their role as the God possessing the apparent leader of the Dark Signers, is Uru. Uru is too arrogant for Wiraqocha Rasca’s liking, too full of themselves and their own self-importance to be a favoured child. They know of Uru’s schemes to be seen as the second-in-command and entertain their designs only so far before Wiraqocha Rasca asserts their right as leader and creator of the Earthbound Gods. Uru has been reprimanded for being too eager in their pompousness before all the Gods previously, verbally punished by Wiraqocha Rasca in the Gods’ gatherings to mark their progress, often spurring Aslla Piscu to smirk and make some snide comment and beginning a verbal bickering of the Gods again.

“Although this wicked will was sealed within the earth, just as rainwater seeps underground over time, it has spread over this entire planet with every moment passing by. Look at the world now. War, poverty, incurable disease, economic turmoil – not a scrap of peace from the time of the People of the Stars lingers. The only available utopia is Neo Domino City. Do you now understand? The wicked gods sealed in Nazca will soon be resurrected, by feeding off the evil in people’s hearts…”
Although Ccarayhua’s favoured human form is of a Native American male, they occasionally choose to present themselves as a white male. The ethnicities of the Earthbound Gods’ human forms vary depending on personal desire and preference, but Ccarayhua has a far darker reason for utilising a white human form. They are intensely aware of the privileges white people have over all other races and choose to subvert it to better undermine humanity. They utilise the privileges white people have to better entrench and endear themselves in human hearts, all in order to cause all the more pain to humans when it is revealed their icon meant all life harm and sought to kill them all. Likewise the other Earthbound Gods follow Ccarayhua’s example for the same reasons: to weaponise the privileges of white people and utilise them for their own cause. They are not exempt from the racism faced by people of colour, regardless of their status as wicked gods, however. They see racism and the divide between humanity as a sign their influence is spreading, allowing humanity to fail and bring themselves closer to being swallowed by the Underworld, but they do not take racist remarks towards them lightly. They do not support social justices in any capacity, including the eradication of racism and racial prejudices amongst humans, but if anyone is racist towards them, they will exact their full fury and show what it means to insult a god.

The Earthbound Gods have no perception of gender. It is a human construct, not theirs, and they find it does not apply to them. Each of their divine forms are genderless, lacking both genitalia to apply a sex to them and any sort of inclination to label themselves as the humans do to apply a gender to them. They are all capable of presenting themselves in any gender of human form, although Ccapac Apu and Aslla Piscu have their own personal preferences, and all utilise the neutral pronouns they/them.
Again, Ccapac Apu and Aslla Piscu are the outliers, with Ccapac Apu utilising male pronouns as well as neutral and Aslla Piscu utilising female pronouns. They all share the same view on gender, however, and refuse to bend to human created labels.

Although Wiraqocha Rasca created the rest of the Earthbound Gods around the same point of time, they were not created in the same instant. He formed them of his own will as being of pure evil intent, and though they were all created by him, they are not biologically related to one another nor to their ‘father’. It is the choice of the Gods themselves as to how they refer to Wiraqocha Rasca, with Chacu Challhua, Ccarayhua, Ccapac Apu, and Yuraq Allqu choosing to see them as a father figure and Cusillu and Uru seeing them exclusively as a creator figure and the leader of them all.
Wiraqocha Rasca, as the creator of the Gods and former Nazcan sun deity, is the oldest and original Earthbound God. Uru is the oldest of their ‘children’, followed by Cusillu as the second. Ccapac Apu is older than Ccarayhua and Aslla Piscu, who are the same age, being the only two to come into being at the same time. Chacu Challhua follows Aslla Piscu, and Yuraq Allqu follows them.
Geo Gryphon was born when the Earthbound Gods were still very young and beginning to establish themselves as a worldwide threat. Although Wiraqocha Rasca had already begun to put into place the creation of servants, Gryphon’s birth prompted them to accelerate the plan. Gryphon was taken from Aslla once no longer dependent on her (and thus appearing fully grown in his divine form, despite only being a scant few months old) and had his mind altered to believe he was the first Earthbound Servant and therefore the oldest.
Gryphon is simultaneously the youngest God and oldest Servant. However, he remains unaware of his true status as a God and does not qualify as such in his or anyone else’s mind. He is always quick to assert he is a Servant -- to compare himself to his masters and mistress would be sacrilege in his eyes.

Although the Earthbound Gods’ physical forms are imprisoned in the Nazca Lines through the power of the Crimson Dragon, all the gods are capable of projecting themselves spiritually beyond their geoglyphs. It is through this power that they are able to communicate with their chosen Dark Signer and potential targets. When they have formed their symbiotic bond with their Signer, they are able to use this bond to project not only as a voice in the backs of their minds, but physically appear exclusively in a human form.
Their bond with their Dark Signers also allot the chosen revived human access to their Duel Monster card, but they cannot be summoned in a duel without the appropriate sacrifice of souls. These souls do not have to be ‘fresh’, as seen with Chacu Challhua being summoned with the souls of Bommer’s destroyed village, which happened at least a number of months before Bommer’s duel with Crow in order to allow Bommer to travel from Peru to Japan and all the preliminaries and associated matters in regards to the Fortune Cup, and in the case of Cusillu, where the souls of the duel monsters frozen in stone by Zeman were gathered over a relatively long period of time. Also in regards to Cusillu, the souls necessary to summon the Earthbound Gods do not need to be human, only that they need to be living.
If the Gods have been summoned, but the duel must be postponed due to reasons outside of their control, such as destruction of the environment due to the Gods’ attacks doing physical damage, the souls used to summon the Gods carry over to the next time they are summoned, as seen in the duels between Misty/Aki, Divine/Carly and Kiryu/Yusei. In the Misty and Carly duels, this is due to the environment being destroyed, whereas in Kiryu’s duel it is because Yusei cannot legally continue the duel with his D-Wheel being destroyed. These souls are then used again the next time the Gods are summoned, as they are still legitimate sacrifices to summon the gods.
When the Gods are destroyed in a duel, killed, and therefore returned to the geoglyphs where they must wait another 5000 years to accrue enough energy to defy the Nazca Lines and escape again, all the souls used to summon them are released and returned to life. Any buildings that were damaged in the collection of souls, as seen in Bommer’s hometown being restored as well as the people, are also returned.

The markings on each Earthbound God are capable of glowing with a bioluminescent light. Each radiates their respective colours: Chacu Challhua glows purple, Ccarayhua green, Aslla Piscu orange, Cusillu yellow, Ccapac Apu blue, Uru red, Wiraqocha Rasca lilac-pink, and Yuraq Allqu white.
Ccarayhua, however, glows more vibrantly than any other of the Gods. When looking at this light, it can induce nausea, anxiousness, extreme emotion, a sense of hopelessness, and headaches in the viewer. As their child, Geo Gryphon may also cause a lesser variant of these effects -- with the alterations done to their body by Cusillu, the metal plating on their body designed to smother and subdue their divine nature and subjugate them, they no longer cause the full extent of these effects, with only a lesser sense of hopelessness and dread being instilled in the viewer as a result.

The Earthbound Gods do not need to breathe. They exist in insubstantial forms, unaffected by the needs of the physical flesh, and are not bound by the limitations of mortal forms. When underwater or utilising its insubstantiality, Chacu Challhua does not need to breathe and so does not have a blowhole.
The Gods can choose to breathe, however. Most tend to do so, if only to take advantage of the freedom in breathing open air. Geo Gryphon in particular relies on breathing; the constant pain it is under from the physical alterations Cusillu carried out on them is made worse by a lack of breathing, and is only barely alleviated by the act.

Although they are an Earthbound God by birthright, the alterations done to their mind by Wiraqocha Rasca have shaped them to believe they are and mentally qualify themselves as an Earthbound Servant. With Rasca’s block in place, they does not assimilate languages from humans, but can be gifted the knowledge of a language by one of the Gods through physical contact – typically taking the form of a hand on the head – and the will of the God in question. They knows Quechua, Classic and Modern Nahuatl, Japanese, and English through its own merit, having learned Latin and several dead languages through Cusillu’s refusal to have anything but a learned servant.

Despite what is shown in across all the series’, all duel monsters can talk. All subspecies have their own language – the Spellcaster archetype have the language their spells are written in, the dragons have the draconic of their ancestors, Kuribohs, Kuribons and the Kuri clans have their trills and calls with their own interspecies dialects – but there is one unifying language across the entirety of the Spirit World for all monsters to share.
There are dialects of it across the monsters – one cannot expect an Acorno to speak the same as a Blue-Eyes or the Crimson Dragon – but the language for the largest part is the same. Beyond the spirit language, monsters can speak English and Japanese – as well as any other languages their duelists might know. Conversely, there has only been one instance of a human learning to speak as a spirit: the Duel Monster Yubel. A human born long before the Duel Spirits were bound to cards, Yubel became a hybrid of human and Duel Monster, believed to be a Duel Monster entirely once the spirits were bound to the cards, in order to serve as the guardian of Yuki Judai’s ancestor and guide him in growing to control the Gentle Darkness. They are the sole example of a human becoming a Duel Spirit, though no spirit will speak of their heritage as a falsely engineered monster.

[01:57:44] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: you can see in these (which, fun fact, are the only lower body shots we get of him in these episodes outside of the flashbacks), his belt is HANGING off him, so he’s wearing those outer trousers as another layer to big himself up and look more intimidating to yusei [02:08:01] kiryu “4Kids erased my backstory” kyosuke.: like the dark signer wardrobe is??? another weapon unto them????? kiryu’s makes him look bigger and more intimidating to yusei and plays into the fear factor he canonically says he wants to achieve ;
misty’s is sleek and elegant like she is and looks??? not too different, dark signer symbols excepted, from her original attire which is probably playing into this idea that aki’s powers affect normal every day people (i.e. toby) and that those normal everyday people are her enemy because she stands against them, kills, and terrifies them;
carly’s is a complete departure from her standard clothes which is likely intended to unsettle jack because that’s not something the carly he knows would wear, it’s revealing and all sharp edges and bright colours, whereas carly before was all soft curves and quite muted colours - they were bright, like the blue/white of her shirt and the orange of her gilet, but they seemed to fade into the background, like she wasn’t really noticeable in them (just like how people didn’t really notice her and she was stuck at a two-bit job), while her dark signer uniform is LITERALLY meant to be noticed. it’s bright orange contrasting with pitch black, she’s meant to be noticed and stand out, saying look at me jack, notice me just like she wants him to notice how he feels about her
demak and rudger’s uniforms are utilitarian but still showcasing that edge of danger - bare arms, billowing cloaks and big pants. rudger’s glover going up toward his elbow is definitely a nod to him losing the dragon birthmark - it covers the area where it would be, it’s hiding that part of his past. but all the dark signers’ uniforms are meant to make them look dangerous and intimidating and other , because that’s what they are . they’re “no longer of this world”, they’re sinister and otherworldly and something alien, and you have this terrifying dichotomy between the people the signers know and their alien wardrobe that’s meant to unsettle the signers and work in their favour because the signers are so scared just by their appearance, never mind their dueling. it’s just another weapon in their armoury, and i’ll bet any money all the dark signers know it.

He is always quick to assert he is a Servant – to compare himself to his masters and mistress would be sacrilege in his eyes.
