Darry Curtis x Reader

Darry Curtis would do anything for you. That was no question. But the real test would be if your daughter liked him, because, well, she’s your daughter. To say you were nervous was an understatement, bouncing the little girl in your lap as you wait for your boyfriend to arrive. There’s a knock at the door, and you smile

“Ready to meet Darrel, huh Vivvie?” you hum, propping her up on your hip “yes!” She smiles, making your heart melt. “Alright, kind hands, right? No hitting?” You remind her, gently tapping her nose, which makes her squeal with a laugh as she nods. “Good” you kiss her forehead as you open the door, revealing Darry, standing there with two bouquets of flowers.

“Hi” you smile, leaning forward to meet him in a quick kiss. “Hey” he smiles, his eyes on your daughter. “This must be Miss Vivienne” he smiles, she nods, big smile on her face that reveals her gums littered with gaps from where teeth are yet to grow in. “These are for you” he hands her a bouquet, which she promptly pulls against her chest with a loud, excited “Thank you!”, Darry responds with a “you’re very welcome” then turns to you. “And these are for you” he hands you the other bouquet.

“Darry..” you say as you take the flowers “these are nice, you must I’ve spent a fortune-“ he cuts you off. “You, don’t worry about my finances.”he says, you just give in. “Thank you, they’re beautiful” you tell him. “You’re more than welcome”

“Vivvie, do you wanna sit with Darry while Mommy goes put these in water?” You ask your daughter as you take the bouquet from her, she nods and starts squirming for you to put her down. “Are you alright with that? You won’t be alone with her for more than like a minute” you say as you put her down, letting her run over to the sofa. “That’s fine” he says softly, planting a kiss on the top of your head. You nod and go off to the kitchen, putting the flowers in vases before going back to the living room.

You stand in the doorway for a moment, looking at what’s in front of you. Your daughter rattling on about some storyline she made up for her dolls, which certainly doesn’t make sense to anyone but her. And your boyfriend, sat facing her, completely tuned into her story and nodding along, adding in small ‘oh’s and ‘really?’s. It’s truly one of the sweetest things you’ve ever witnessed. You walk over, sitting behind your daughter and pulling her into your lap.

“Mommy! He likes Barbie!” Vivienne squeals, you laugh softly. “Does he?” You muse, looking up from her to Darrel, who’s also chuckling. “Yes!” She squeals. “I didn’t know you had any secret hobbies” you tease, “I didn’t expect for it to get out” Darrel plays along. You just laugh and lean over to kiss his temple. Safe to say there’s been another name added to Darry’s long list of people to look out for, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

alternatively, Techno having nowhere else to go so he tries to sneak into a hybrid community. He knows he'll get kicked out at best if they know he's human. So, he disguises himself as a hybrid and prays it lasts long enough that he can get into a better position and escape before they figure out (or at least with minimal damage). Small problem: he intended to keep his head down the whole time, but actually a lot of them are super friendly and curious about the new comer. The closer he gets to them the more complicated and convoluted the lie becomes, because suddenly he cares less about avoiding notice and more about them liking him.

And it works, until one day, when Philza confronts him for being human. Techno scrambles for a lie, desperate to keep his friends, but can't think of one, falling silent as Philza accuses him of being a human spy trying to infiltrate the community. Panicking, Techno bolts, and suddenly all of his friends are hunting him down. No where is safe, not the air or water or nether. All of them are desperate to capture him, some furious for his deception, others terrified he's going to destroy their community.

And Techno...wasn't he already planning to ditch this place from day one? It's fine, right, this was part of the plan. For months he'd been fighting the impulse to show them his real self, and now he knows that instinct is correct. They didn't like Techno, only the guy he pretended to be. So why does it still hurt so much to leave? They despise him, don't they? And don't they have every right to?

Or, for the funny route, he thinks he's a master manipulator spiraling in a web of lies, but everyone has known since day one and think his sheer bravado is funny enough to keep him. Their little prods at the facade is because watching him fall silent for like 10 minutes to think up an absurd lie is really really funny.

OUGH, okay, okay, I'm picking up what you're throwing down (with some small adjustments for taste perhaps).

Techno is a human, but he's an outcast. He figures a good way to live in peace while also being somewhat protected is to live on the very outskirts of this hybrid commune he's discovered. Right on the edge, so he's technically within the border (and the safety it provides), a place barely any humans know about and those that do shy away from it because of The Crowfather's claim to those lands. Techno knows he won't get away with living there as a human, so he pretends to be a hybrid.

A bunny hybrid to be precise.

They're mostly humanoid-looking anyway, and Techno makes himself a convincing set of ears + tail. He dyes his hair pink. He builds a little cottagecore cabin and hopes that he can keep his head down. Obviously, this does not work as well as he'd hoped, since the commune members are curious and nosey and also super friendly and start worming their way into his heart. They also know bunnies normally live in big warrens with lots of other bunnies so they're worried Techno is lonely all the time and don't want that :( they're trying to help! They're trying to be good friends!

Techno tells them he has a leg injury, so that's why he can't jump as far as other bunny hybrids. He makes sure to never eat meat in front of them. He does everything he can to keep up the ruse.

Except sooner or later, something is going to happen to make it fall through. You could have somebody find out and confront him, but I'm also very partial to a dramatic reveal because he's saving/helping somebody else and him getting hurt in the process. Maybe somebody else is in danger and Techno's instinctive reaction reveals he's a human somehow? I'll workshop it.

Whichever the case, Techno is found out. And he panics. The commune members are shocked, they feel betrayed. A few of them might genuinely be a little pissed he was hiding this or accuse him of being a human spy. But most of them are just confused. Techno bolts, because he's scared they'll kill him or kick him out. They follow - partly out of worry (Techno did get hurt in whatever prompted the discovery), partly because they just want answers. Maybe one or two of them are angry and scared that he'll rat them out to the humans and would stop that at any cost.

Techno does not get away. He's hurt and exhausted and outnumbered and he's only human so he can't outrun a bunch of hybrids forever. I like the idea that one of the 'weaker' hybrid members catches up to him first (maybe Tommy or Tubbo) and Techno knows he can take them in a fight. He could defend himself, hurt them, and have that be an additional distraction that'll allow him to get away. But he can't bring himself to do that. Eventually he gets caught by them (maybe after getting hurt some more during the failed escape because I'm evil and enjoy Techno whump so much) but they don't kill him like Techno expects them to. They want to know why the fuck he lied to them in the first place.

And that's when it all gets revealed. How Techno was an outcast among his own kind. How badly they treated him (those scars he played off as being caused by hybrid hunters suddenly gain a whole new meaning for the commune members). How he only wanted to find a place he could be safe and he never intended for them all to care, for them to become friends with him, for his lies to become this serious. How he never expected himself to actually feel at home with them.

Obviously, this would lead to a happy ending. Some of the commune members probably forgive Techno almost instantly. A few of the others might be a bit peeved at him for a while because of the deceit, though they can kinda get why he lied in the first place. They say Techno can stay to heal and Techno accepts while fully expecting to be kicked out as soon as they know he won't drop dead out alone in the wild. Except by the time Techno is healed, basically everybody has already agreed they're fine with him staying :D

Celestia knows what lies under that helmet, but you can rest assured that The Captain is fairly merciful to all. It's just a simple matter of being courteous and following orders. Dare I even say it... one thing that I've heard and observed from the grapevine- is that he's one of the more popular Harbingers... if the bold statements from my comrades are anything to go by.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4] Contrary to belief, the Prime Doctore is a completely sane man. His younger segments, not so much. His experiments have killed hundreds, and I'm sure he would continue if it wouldn't threaten Regrator's profits. He works a little too closely with Lord Regrator, which is bad enough for me. I can't stand it when he asks me to keep their struck deals and the Doctor's activities under wraps... but I do it anyway. I'd be happier if they were never in the same room together, but apparently, those two make 'quite the pair' if I had to quote some rumors.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4] Her reputation as dangerous, even among the Harbingers, should suggest you steer clear of her. I once made the mistake of catching her closed gaze while I was at the palace- and a nasty feeling of paranoia plagued me for days on end. However, if you end up under her radar and she deems you 'interesting'... well- I'll send you my condolences.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘒𝘯𝘢𝘷𝘦 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

The Knave, Arlecchino... she's quite the enigma. While she and Lord Regrator are both Harbingers, their demeanors, methods, and goals cannot be more distinct. Her methods, to say the least, are a touch... extreme. There's no denying her skills as a master manipulator and ruthless 'Father' of the House of the Hearth. It's certainly an improvement from the late Crucabena, or so I've heard from the older orphans. But then again, I haven't noticed any changes in the mortality rate of her... "children".

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

The old Rooster's influence can be found throughout Snezhnaya, and his connections are vast. He seems to be on good terms with Regrator, but that's the only thing I'm sure of. He serves as an advisor to the Fatui Harbingers, and his assistance goes beyond the scope of his political power. I suspect there's something important that he may be working on, but I have no idea where to start… They say he's a master strategist, but his only plans involve making a show that impresses a crowd. I only hope the next time he assembles the Harbingers together, it will be over his casket.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

Sandrone is the head of a team of engineers who build mechanical lifeforms. Some are small and cute, others gigantic and powerful... but all are emotionless and unfeeling. When I hear the word "creation" I think of beauty and passion, but Sandrone seems to only care about destruction. Just like the mech that carries her around. You'd never see her alone; it's as if the puppet is her true identity.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

Tartaglia, or Childe as some people call him, He definitely has the strength of a Harbinger, that much is undeniable. But he can be impulsive, even downright suicidal at times. It's as if he has no fear of dying. I guess that's what happens when you live for the thrill of the battle. I can't deny that... Even though he's a loudmouth, his skills back up his words. I've seen him cut through enemies as if they were made of butter. That being said, he's still young at heart. Occasionally disruptive for the duties carried out. He's developed an interest in dueling with me ever since Pantalone granted me this title. Lucky for me, I can always request for Regrator's presence whenever I want him to turn tail and disappear.

𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

The first time I saw Signora, I was struck by her beauty and gracefulness. Unfortunately, my admiration was short-lived as she turned to glare at me the moment she noticed. Arrogance. Ego. Self-conceit- now those are mere words when it comes to the Fair Lady. She was as cold as the snow that covers Snezhnaya and as temperamental as the flames she wielded. She had no tolerance for the weak and would just as easily snuff out a life without a second thought. Although I hold no love for her, I almost felt disrespected on her behalf when the Rooster thought to grant only half a day of mourning at her funeral.

𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘐

The Northland Bank is a place of opportunity, a place where you can put your destiny into your own hands... and a place where you can see it stripped from you without warning. I have seen many people come and go in my time here. People from all walks of life, eager to make a name for themselves. Some have found the money and fortune they sought after, while others have fallen flat on their faces.

𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘐𝘐 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 3]

I've seen countless conflicts waged with blood and steel, and they pale in comparison to the lives destroyed by the pen. They're both weapons in their own ways. The sword is more direct, no question about it. Yet the pen... it can cut in a more subtle manner, but it slices deep. Both are capable of ruining someone's life. The former requires power while the latter requires intelligence. Really brings out the irony in calling this feathered quill my 'signature' weapon.

𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘐𝘐𝘐 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4]

To the untrained eye, it may seem like some sort of cruel joke. A title like ‘Venator Dux’ is usually given to one who would strike fear in their enemies and inspire confidence in their allies. Lord Regrator, however, has a different plan in mind. Pantalone sees me not as a ruthless warrior, but as the keeper of his secrets. Someone who can wield knowledge as a weapon and turn his enemies’ greed against them. To him, the title of ‘Venator Dux’ is a reminder of my duty. In his words, I was a useful piece that could shift the entire board on his whim. And isn't that something to take pride in? Knowing you're the most favored player in a man's game?

𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘐𝘝 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 5]

My father died a proud soldier under the tsaritsa's name. He fought and bled on behalf of the nation she created and dedicated his life to protecting. *Sigh* My father would be ashamed if he could see me now, kneeling before a man. Especially after cursing his grave out for dying under another. The irony is not lost on me. Yet, I would rather serve a man who I respect, who I can reason with, than one who demands endless devotion from her subjects. In a strange way, I feel as though I am honouring my father's memory by following my own path.

𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘝 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 6]

Hilarious to think back to my first year of duty. I was no more than a simple receptionist at the Northland Bank back then. Just another faceless pawn, doing my duty to the tsaritsa without questioning her intentions. All I knew was that I was serving the Fatui's goals. I did not kill anyone directly, yet I still had blood on my hands. Every transaction carried the potential for loss and pain, yet I pushed on regardless. I may have been just a receptionist, but I was already well aware of the cost of ambition. Pantalone then, was different from everyone else I'd met in the Fatui. He didn't use force of arms like the other Harbingers; instead, he used his words and intellect to manipulate the political landscape.

In addition, he held a unique perspective on the tsaritsa's ideals. Not once did he preach about blind devotion. He simply told me that if I wanted to make my mark on this world, I would have to be willing to play by his rules. It took me three years to realize what he insinuated... and I found myself gravitating back to him despite leaving the organization of my own accord.

𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳'𝘴 𝘏𝘰𝘣𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘴 Playing the piano, perhaps? I'm no good at it yet... but I've been getting better with some help guiding my hand around the keys. It is... nice to unwind after a long day and let the instrument carry me away.

𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳'𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴 [Unlocked at Friendship Lv. 4] *Sigh*... I have to be diplomatic with people I despise and feign politeness with those who can’t hold a conversation to save their lives. Sometimes- when I’m in the middle of running an important operation, few of my juniors just keep making mistakes. It makes me wonder how Lord Regrator manages to do the same for days on end with a smile on his face... I'm not like him at all.

𝘍𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘥 I've got a soft spot for a well-seasoned dish of meat. Any kind really— A hearty serving does wonders. Leaves you delightfully stuffed full, satisfied, and warm. I'm not too worried about the specifics of the dish as long as I can savor a mouthful of rich flavor.

Underrated gif maker, and I say this with no bias, is definitely Ida @bizarrelittlemew because she just puts in so much effort in all her gifs. Ida looks through tutorials and then also does so much on their own, but mainly: if you look at all the recent gifs, they have such a unique Ida ™️ vibe to them. From rotoscoping (still don't know what that is) to playing with blending, Ida deserves to be right up there with one of the most creative gifmakers this fandom has produced recently.

Unfortunately I just very very rarely hang out reading ofmd fics T-T (I'm mostly in the hobbit and sandman fandom side of ao3) and there are a few writers I love and I tend to stick to them (xoxoemynn, forpiratereasons being the main ones) Most of what I read and like in the fandom is when a mutual ends up writing something that isn't modern au.

Having said that, underrated writer to me 100% is @palavapeite because their writing just never fails to transport me to whatever setting they're talking about. Listen, I just don't read modern AUs, they don't do it for me (def a me issue, I'm sure there are brilliant modern au writers in this fandom but it's something I filter out) but I would absolutely recommend this fic as something that brought me so so much joy, is fast becoming my more reread fic, because it did a perfect job with getting Stede's voice right. I can hear every single thing he says in my mind, it's SO good. Also their fic with priest!stede lives rent free in my head and I would soon find the time to read their non blackbonnet fics.

Another one is adamarks who, again, has such a good grasp on Ed and Stede's character that it doesn't matter which AU Jay has picked, it just always always works somehow. My favourite is this fic tho which is just so them that I might as well weep.

For artists, my recent faves (and I think they're underrated) are Lilo @harrylovesspaezle who's so so talented and I still can't get over that sketchbook tour - the growth and love for this show ough, @ofmderapolag whose pieces are just so so dreamy, and also @spookynadja whose style just floors me every single time.

I'd also like to shout out one underrated category, people who write such amazing text posts like @ourfag who obviously has the s3 scripts and is only sharing them with us in small increments due to the nda and @tulipseason for the currently unpublished book of "1 million ways I will articulate how much I love hit television show our flag means death"

and then there's my favourite most beloved cheerleaders who are always lifting up new writers and artists too like @marbledwings and @insteading ❤️ I especially love that everyone has a beautiful story with these two, you could ask any small or big writer in the fandom if they've been made to cry by wings or insteading and yeah, they're just lovely.

i think if megatron started continuously carrying and birthing again starscream wouldn’t be disturbed so much as recognizing from experience that the new sparklings are sort of doomed to be soldiers from birth… maybe he gets at least some sort of vindictive pleasure from how painful the birthing process looks and how he gets to see megatron in agony for once (if he’s allowed to supervise, if only so megatron can have someone to scream at)… but seeing the sparklings nurse while megatron firmly but gently cleans the afterbirth off makes him just jealous in a primal but inherent sense

my true love is IDW/MTMTE broodmother megatron peacefully nursing his sweet chubby autobot babies but i really really love the idea of armada megatron being able to power through birth through sheer willpower and the absolute confidence that these babies will win the war for him, and if they don’t he’ll have birthed many by then to take their place

Obviously, idw Megatron nursing fat little autobot babies is the best fantasy. He deserves to be the lost light's big, scary, but ultimately harmless broodmomma <3 But I’ve really been into Armada Megatron being a broodmother, mostly because I'm revisiting the show and my brain is latching onto it, but I can definitely give a coherent reason why I think it fits… But that’s a long story.

Starscream is absolutely conflicted between pitying and hating any new sparklings… they’re all just born into this world to die for Megatron, and Megatron doesn’t even care. By the time most of his oldest litters die in battle, Megatron has birthed so many more soldiers that he doesn’t even remember the older ones anymore. It's sad. That, and Starscream is jealous…. he's jealous of every single one of Megatron’s young that receives a sliver of affection, still more than he was ever given. watching him suffer through birth gives him some satisfaction, at least. Starscream gets to assure himself that he must have hurt Megatron as much, if not more, while he was being born as well. It's a sick feeling, but it keeps him satisfied... for now.

There’s a small moment at the end of the Barbie movie that's stuck with me. Literally a blink-and-you'll-miss-it gag, yet it just resonated.

[Fairly major spoilers if you haven't seen Barbie yet] [Also note I'm writing this in a half-conscious frenzy at 2 am so I hope it makes sense]

It happens after the Kens return from their war turned homoerotic musical number to find the Barbies have retaken Barbieland, and Main Barbie gives Main Ken the speech that he’s Ken-ough just being himself without her. One of the other Kens says something like he doesn't care about patriarchy anymore, he just misses his friend Barbie. It's a throwaway line, but it hit me.

Like it reminded me being a kid and having friends who were girls, and how easy it seemed to do that when we were that young. We were all just kids having fun together. Like yeah we registered that we were different genders, but it hadn't really sunk in for us yet what that "meant".

But then as we grew up, society's weird gender dynamics got forced onto us more and more. We couldn't just be friends anymore, not without some kind of romantic/sexual undercurrent being assumed. Suddenly it was "complicated". After all, men and women can't just be friends, right? Someone's gonna catch feelings, right? You're the man, you gotta impress a lady and start a family and be the big strong breadwinner, right? It was weird as fuck, suddenly being told that it was somehow improper to be platonically close with people I'd known for my whole life. Especially as a queer man who has never felt comfortable trying to be traditionally masculine.

And that's just how it was for me as a cis dude. Learning more about what women and girls experience has especially driven home how harmful this enforcement of strict gender dynamics is.

OSCAR FELL FIRST RUBY FELL HARDER AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

Bro literally said "woah" when he first met her and is Aware of just how Down Bad he's been this entire time. He's fine with it never being reciprocated though and doesn't want to pressure here. A very selfless love. Whereas I expect Ruby to get back from Total Trauma Island to a series of small "oh." moments that build up to a much bigger:

"Oh."

I like to think Ruby is demi-aroace. I can see her realization being an 'oh i have been a little bit in love with him this whole time' situation, but she just didn't realize because - like all her other feelings up to that point - she had been suppressing them. OR she looks back, acknowledges how much she's always cared for him and has a sort of "if it was ever going to be anyone, it was going to be you" moment. And in the face of all her loneliness and fear and grief she decides to 'trust love' and be a little bit selfish about this one thing.

aka just as Ruby chose adventure and adventure chose Oscar, Ruby chooses to love Oscar on purpose while he is sitting there like "I never had a choice but to love you. Okay this is getting long and less narratively focused so i'm gonna put it under a read more:

I like to think that Oscar doesn't stay a 'morning person' and instead becomes reallll grumpy if you wake him up too early, which Ruby does often cause she's always been an early riser. Meanwhile if Oscar manages to get Ruby to sleep for 'five more minutes', she turns into the grumpy one.

While still travelling together or working as huntsmen, Oscar always carries around some grab and go snacks that he knows Ruby likes cause she can sometimes forget to eat and giving her food is one of his love languages.

Speaking of 'love languages', I know the system has some ~questionable~ origins, but I do like to think Ruby is more of a "physical touch & words of affirmation" girlie as opposed to Oscar who is more "acts of service & gift giving". They're about even when it comes to quality time together. Are happy to be very engaged in whatever activity they've chosen or just like enjoying the other's company while they're both doing their own things.

Sparring is one of their favourite things to do together, but they are also known to dance (slow or silly) in the kitchen while they're waiting for baked goods to come out of the oven.

Oscar isn't a fan of dogs after the Hound incident and Ruby isn't big on cats after the Ever After, so they either don't get pets or choose something a bit more adventurous. Like a bunny or a lizard. Maybe chickens.

Oscar is very affectionate once they're properly in a relationship and he doesn't have to hide how he feels, but the two of them are never 'loud' about it. It's always been a quiet, subtle, natural thing. Very balanced and good communication. Patience and understanding whenever the other needs it. And they almost never fight... until either of them is about to do something dangerous and Protection Mode is activated, in which case all bets are off.

1; World In My Hands. I am starting strong with my second ever Eustass Kid fic, and this one has such a special place in my heart because it solidified the love I have for Kid while writing it. I swear his ghost took over my body while typing because the soft, ooey-gooey love that he gives in this fic was no something I was prepared to write. I had originally meant for it to be a very heavy, sexy and a little dark fic but it ended up being soft and warm and I won't lie, I cried a lil tear when I finished it because I just love the guy so so much. Big smooch for him.

3; Chilled. Small Law blurb that I recently wrote. I just wanted some love and comfort from my main mans and I love how easy his love comes to me. My fingers literally run over the keyboard when I'm in my Law moods and I'm just so happy I can write him with justice and to the point where others loves him just ad much as I do 🥺🥺

2; Losing The War. Another Eustass Kid fic, but this one was just pure angst. I needed him to hurt, and while I don't believe the man would EVER cheat or throw you aside for some cheap, quick sex, I wanted to put him into Situations™️ and make him ache. I love causing pain to my blorbos. It heals something in me :')

4; Them and Their Hats ; Shachi, Penguin and Law. My first fic where I wrote more than one person's version. Nothing but love for my boys. One of the fics that took me longest, simply because Penguin was so difficult to figure out. (I think I have the hang of him now 🤭)

5 ; To Be Loved. My very first Corazon/Rosinante fic 😭😭 I put my whole fuckin pussy into this one, one of my longest and one of my absolute pride and joys. The fic with the most notes, I still can't believe it has almost 500 notes 😭😭😭 I just love the guy so much. (My only qualm is I wish I wrote him a little more clumsy in this fic.)

I don't think I'll ever canonize this but given how Juno and Sep live in a tavern and how Sep is a twenty-something bar-culture-head busker who's not the best at being a legal guardian, there's gotta be at least a couple of times where Juno gets drunk before she reaches maturity. Like, Sep hardly drinks himself, and there's no legal drinking age in Fortune (it's mostly just an unspoken understanding that kids shouldn't have alcohol. 'Kids' kind of ends at seventeen). But during some of those nights where the energy is a little too infectious, it can't hurt to join in, and sometimes you might take it a little too far, y'know?

The first time would be maybe a month or so after they're mandated the inn, and it's a harvest night so patrons are getting a little crazy. Juno's had small cups of ale before, and she's always stopped after one as per Sep's recommendation instruction. But tonight, some guy made a wildly good haul for the season, so he's bought a couple rounds of the big stuff - including the staff, which Juno technically is. She refuses at first, but after a bit of insistence (and the go-ahead from Sep, ever the unwary), she gets through two and just passes out. The next morning, she awakens in her bed with a hangover.

Juno, stumbling down the stairs: Ough, I feel abysmal.

Sep, making breakfast over the cookstove: I'd imagine so. Given how fast you fainted, I'm surprised you made it through two tankards.

J: ...what?

S: It's your first hangover! At least, I assume it's your first, I dunno how much you usually drink.

I think unlearning shame or just becoming less anxious with even small things like interests is one of the best things you can experience in life, or at least it has been for me. It's really relieving and being able to just simply enjoy things is an entire major reason to live for me. Been thinking more about BeastStars AU.

Specifically, as regards how they'd get along with other animals of the same types in their human form.

Many thoughts, but main one coherent at this moment is Joseph working together really well with other corvids.

Like, they know both forms are him, that he's kinda in part a similar creature but not all the way. He's surrounded by the local crows frequently. They tip him off if they spot anything he might want to know about and bring him shiny/cool object, and he feeds them and helps heal them, both with hamon and just things being easier with opposable thumbs.

Caesar initial confrontation with him involves Caesar approaching him with intent to fight first and finding him surrounded by crows, and talking to them /with crow noises./

But air supplena island is not a great place for the crows. They still fly over to check on him once in a while, but there's just not a good environment for them. So he's cut off from that too.

My other main thought on 'interacting with other animals of same kind' is it'd be funny if other sheepdogs were none too fond of Jonabeast because their flocks like him better. Thus leading to Small Jonabeast getting harassed by other dogs until Danny comes to help and then he gets Big.

Also it'd be funny if random other people's sheep kept following him home when in Beast Form.

just. For as long as Joseph could remember, he'd always just been good with corvids and whatever other birds would find themselves on his window sil. He's basically got his own communication network in New York and gets all sorts of gossip from all around. And sure he wouldn't say no to helping out injured birds, he also won't say no to Shiny Trinkets being brought as gifts

I like to imagine that Joseph's horde is honestly really big. There's not much in there with monetary value, mostly things like bottle caps, metal bits, shiny rocks and the like, but every once in a while he'll get a gem or jewlery or two, which I'd imagine he usually gifts to Erina

speaking of gifting, I'd imagine that Joseph was SUPER picky on when and what he'd gift. He only ever gave things from his horde to those he really trusted and cared for, and for years that was only Erina and Speedwagon, with the addition of Smokey somewhere down the line.

and I'm gonna be honest, I love the idea of when Joseph arrives in Italy the first thing he does is introduce himself to the local corvid population. It's a little weird having to work from the ground up after having his network for so long, but it's a welcome challenge and fun meeting so many new birds

I also like to think that during their fight Caesar is just. BURIED in corvids, just because I think I'd be funny if there were way more corvids in this AU than there were pidgeons in canon. Just for the shits and giggles

but also ough Joseph's going to be so freaking lonely-

Honestly? it wouldn't surprise me if Joseph got a little claustrophobic on Air Supplena. He wouldn't be able to fly and the only way on and off the island is the occasional boat, leaving him functionally trapped in a way he's never really been before. Sure the island's big but it's not that big, especially for someone as active as Joseph

I'd imagine whenever Joseph gets any visitors he treats them as well as he can. Snacks, preening, maybe even a little hamon boost to chase the fatigue away, anything to make their trip worth it so they'd keep coming back. I'd imagine he asks them all sorts of questions...... but one of the most prevelant one is about the flight over. What did the sea look like, how many clouds were there, were the wind currents rough or smooth, what did the island look like from above, etc etc

(this behavior ofc confuses the HELL out of Caesar and he honestly has no idea what any of it means. He already thought it was strange how much Jojo seems to like corvids, but this....... this was weird in it's own way. And who knows, maybe for a tad of fluff, Joseph ends up teaching Caesar how to care for birds)

but also switching gears to a much more lighthearted topic, the idea of sheep just liking Jonathan's vibes is hysterical to me and I love it so much-

also for Bonding Reasons, what if the reason Jonathan had such a hard time with Danny in the begining is because of his previous difficulties with dogs? He wasn't super stoked about his father giving him one, but eventually he and Danny bonded and grew incredibly close as a result

also, I love the mental image of a Tiny Beast Jonathan following Danny around and that habit sticking with him even when he's substancially bigger than him

His eyes burned after hours of reading and researching, so he lay there with his eyes closed, listening to Riley and Abigail in the kitchen. Riley’s laptop was still on, he didn’t get up that long ago. The blue glow dried out Riley’s eyes like the dizzying blur of pages dried Ben’s.
