I have come, with something!

So, imagine reader is a young adult instead of the teen. They already gone through the system, was never adopted, so they have a lot of resentment to parents and such. And they actually work in the school as an assistant teacher. The team thing happens and when reader realizes they were being used, they quit, and after, cut out anything showing they’re a mutant. Maybe filling the claws way down to look like normal nails, or if it’s like wolverine’s, they use a rock to break it.

How would everyone react to seeing reader after that, either fresh from their self mutilation, or some days after?

Oooooo... Okay, okay, that's interesting! I still plan to have Reader as a teen in the main au, but Reader as a young adult? Not bad, if I say so. I'm going to count this as an au of the Smilodon AU, because I have an idea for how Reader finding all of this out goes, but... I really like this ask. So good job! Let's do it-

If the others, the X-Men and Brotherhood, saw Reader like that... I think they'd feel nauseous. Light-headed. Sick. Because their... whatever Reader is to them, is missing parts of their mutation, the parts that were part of them. Their claws... they're filed down, hardly there anymore.. Their fangs... not near as long or sharp as they used to be. And the small bits of fur or fluff that used to dot their arms and legs... they're gone, leaving the skin underneath. This isn't what they wanted. They wanted Reader as their, well... okay, they had used Reader. They didn't want to, in the end, and the teens wanted to stop it, but- They just couldn't. They tried. The adults... they feel remorse. A bit scared. Because now they know Reader can and will harm themself (and likely had before). When Xavier looks deeper into Reader's thoughts, he sees their inner-self, and it isn't a monster or a beast or an evil person... it's a scared, lonely, hurt child, who wants love, but has been denied it so long that they don't trust anyone. And after what all they've done... Reader doesn't even trust them anymore...

Xavier, Scott, and Jean would try to speak rationally with Reader (their version of rational). It goes out the window real quick when Reader's thoughts turn darker, sadder, spiraling. Scott wants to know why Reader did what they did, because he's sorry, and wants them to know they care. He wants them to see it their way. But he mostly wants to make things better between them. Jean wants to help Reader, and comfort them, but now there's a literal mental wall between them, full of bitterness. She wants to reach them,, to stop them from doing this to themself... Xavier wants to convince Reader they meant no harm, and to give them and the X-Men a proper chance to make it up to them. He knows that Reader will be hard to convince. But they have to hold out hope. If worse came to worse... they can try and move Reader in with them, albeit unwillingly. It might be the only way to keep an eye on them and their health...

Kurt, Kitty, Ororo, and Beast regret getting Reader's hopes up, only for the truth to come out about why they started trying to befriend them in the first place. Seeing Reader remove parts of their mutation, leaving them almost defenseless... Kurt feels scared. He has a visible mutation as well, and while he hid his with the holo watch, Reader didn't have something like that. And they got rid of parts of themself! It's... it's so hard to look at... Kitty wants to hug Reader, wants forgiveness. She's so sorry about what happened, she wants them to know that! But... why would Reader hurt themself? Are they hiding any other wounds? What If they hurt themself again?... Storm is doing her best to stay calm and motherly, which sadly doesn't get her very far. She knows they've hurt Reader, and it doesn't feel good, for Reader or for them. But they need to own up to it. The best they can do is apologize, and hope Reader forgives them, or at least doesn't hurt themself further. Perhaps getting Hank to talk with them would be better... Hank would try and help them, would try to talk with Reader. He wants to provide therapy, or at least get them to have a medical exam. He needs to know how bad they hurt themself. But they're not budging. He doesn't want Charles to force Reader. No. But if they want to help them, they need them under their care. And sadly, Reader does not want to be under their care or protection after everything...

Rogue, Evan, and Logan feel guilty. They know they didn't trust Reader at first. That they didn't want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But seeing how bad it's hurt them, that they'd rather hurt themself than them... It's a tough pill to swallow. Reader already had trust issues. They already didn't have a high opinion of themself. And they just made those a whole lot worse. Rogue is truly sorry, wanting to have Reader stay with them so they don't hurt themself or disappear. She's scared that if they look away from them, they'll be gone. That Reader will leave, or worse, be dead. Evan wants to apologize, but he also wants Reader to give them a second chance. Even his aunt is in on it, and maybe Reader would believe two of them over just one? He really wants them to not give up on them... Logan knows he hasn't handled knowing Reader very well. He knew about some of their past, and wrote them off as a bad influence. And they weren't. They're the cub of his "brother" (he doesn't know if that fuzzy maniac is his brother or not), but they've never even met the guy, let alone know who he was. It wasn't fair of him to get mad with them, to treat them as a potential threat. Seeing them harm themself though... It makes him realize that they had every chance to go after all of them, but instead they turned on themself. And for that... he realizes he shouldn't have been been hard. So cold.

The Brotherhood teens want to throw up. Their favorite assistant teacher, the one who tended to see the best in them, is missing parts of themself, or has cut them down. And it scares the cr*p out of them. This is their favorite teacher! Their go-to adult in school when things go wrong or people won't leave them alone! And they've. Hurt. Themself. They didn't want to use them! They swear! But... they're not sure this is an easy fix. This isn't as simple as saying sorry. This had consequences, and they've (mostly) learned that one has to own up to them, no matter what they be. Lance doesn't want to imagine Reader leaving them. They're the one adult he trusts. And now they're scared, or at least wary, of all of them. The X-Teens are in the same boat, so while he hates to say it, he might have to work with them to get Reader to stay, and hopefully heal and regrow their claws and fangs and fuzz. Todd feels sick. He didn't realize they could do that. They could actually remove parts of their mutation? Just like that? Thinking about it gives him shivers. Who would give their powers up? Who'd willingly hurt themself? He understands why they'd do it, he just wishes they hadn't. Fred wants to hug Reader and cry. His favorite adult (who's only a few years older than all of them) just hurt themself. And is upset with them. And is sad. He doesn't want them to be upset! Or hurt! He's trying to apologize, and is on the same boat as Lance to get the X-Teens help in apologizing, if it means Reader might forgive them. Pietro knows what they did. He knows it was wrong. Is he sorry?... Yes. But he still wants Reader with them. Seeing them they way they are... he still thinks they should be with them, even more now. They need help. His dad can get help, okay? H*ck, if they have to, they can pull Sabretooth in, okay?! He just... he doesn't want Reader to hurt themself even more. They're nice, and pay attention to him and his sister, good attention. How can they let them hurt? Wanda is asking Reader why they did it. She wants to know Reader's perspective on this, on why they did it, how they feel about them all. She doesn't want to hurt them, and she won't, but Reader needs help. She will not have her favorite adult die on her or hurt themself, so they'd better hurry up and go to her father or Xavier and get them involved, otherwise, they're going to have a problem. Mystique feels for Reader. Being distrusted by everyone. Having mutations that single them out. It hurts. It hurts her even more knowing she has hurt Reader with her actions. But this proves to her Reader needs a team. A group. She's grateful Reader hasn't taken their anger or hurt out on them, like their father might have. She knows they deserve it. But... she isn't sure if they should turn to... the X-Men... blegh... or to Magneto... who she's mad with... And unfortunately, those are her two options. The joys of being an adult, being responsible... Hopefully they can reach Reader before it could be too late...

all the different arthurian legend related books ive read

so these are just books ive read that are either based in on the original stories or reincarnation related!! i have no ranking system so this is just based on vibes and is mostly in the order of when i read them, with the most recent at the top (except for the mary stewart series but im just very passionate about it lmao)

The Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart: SO GOOD i loved it so much it was amazing HIGHLY recommend!!! it was more historically based and is so so so so so well done!! i read this about a year ago and im already thinking of rereading it!! the first book, the crystal cave, focuses on merlin growing up and learning about his visions! it covers up until arthur being conceived. it was SO GOOD and i desperately want to watch the cursed looking tv show based off of it!!

The Once and Future King by T.H. White (this included the Book of Merlyn): there was something about this i didnt quite vibe with. like i mean it was pretty good until the book of merlyn so maybe just skip that and leave it incomplete lmao definitely had more of the whimsical vibe attached to the legends, as its what the disney the sword in the stone is based off of. so, i would say it was only so-so for me

The Other Merlin by Robyn Schneider: okay so i was tricked into reading this by tiktok because i saw the author saying it was waaaaaaaaaay more gay than it was and very merthur inspired and please dont read it if you think thats the case. it does have some interesting concepts about sexism in magic (though not entirely in the way you think) and focuses on the merlin you're thinking of's children. it was alright on its own, as long as you separate it out from bbc Merlin. the advertising of the book skewed my perception about what it would be. so yeah, its not the best but its still a fun story!

Camelot Rising series by Kiersten White: ooooooooo these ones were fun!! its told from Guinevere's point of view but it isn't actually Guinevere!! she's a changeling who was sent to Camelot to marry Arthur and was told she would be his protector from something working to destroy what he was building! it was interesting and so fun to be in guinevere's mind while she tried to figure out who she is and what is trying to destroy camelot!! so fun!!

The Dragon's Call by Simon Forward: honestly no notes! so fun! its a retelling of episode 1 with some added details!!!! excellenttttttttttt

Gwen and Art Aren't in Love by Lex Croucher: ooooooo this one was fun too!! and is actually queer as advertised!!! so gwen and art HATE each other until they discover that they're both gay and decide on an alliance to help each other out and protect themselves!! so yes!!! actually gay!!!!! however i do think so bits were a bit slow and so it def couldve been paced a lot better but overall, wasnt bad!

Potions and Poison by Jacqueline Rayner: again another book thats a retelling of the show!!! it covered s1 e3 and 4! and is part of the younger readers collection so it def was written for young audience but it had some full illustrations and was still fun to read!!!

Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cory McCarthy: sooooooo I read book 1 but have not read the sequel! its set in space, in the future, and Ari is the 42nd reincarnation of King Arthur. so yeah, its a little different lmao. this one is also fun with ari discovering who she is, both as a reincarnation of king arthur, and with her queer identity! she meets a teen merlin, who, like in white's the once and future king, is aging in reverse, so it creates some fun dynamics! I read this one over a year ago so the details are a little fuzzy but i remember liking it, although some bits were slightly confusing i think??? i remember them trying to take down an evil government and ari being an illegal immigrant! so maybe i should reread this and then read book two?????

Avalon High by Meg Cabot: so yeah this is what that dcom is based off of but the book is pretty different!! i feel like the book is more stereotypical in the way arthurian legend retellings go, especially compared to the movie! still it was a fun and very fast read!! very like YA style book though, but its meg cabot so its to be expected and very much a 2005 book!

Headcanon/Scenario

What if that same Shirai Ryu learned that he had a family and realized 'oh shit, me killing the dad will lead the Link Kuei to this family!' So they get the family to the safety of the Shirai Ryu before the Lin Kuei could find them. Mama & Big Sis lives, Kuai & Bi Han grow up in a positive environment, and Kuai & Hanzo & Harumi all grow up as childhood friends before forming their poly circle.

Honestly, I hc that Jiahao (the dad) was killed by a Shirai Ryu bc I think it adds to the whole 'cycle of vengeance' thing they had going with Scorpion and the Sub-Zero brothers.

Like, Bi-Han's reaction to being accused of a crime he knows he did not commit was odd to me, he didn't try and defend himself at first, not until he saw the vision Quan Chi showed Hanzo. He basically told Hanzo to go fuck himself which seems personal and like we know that the Lin Kuei have a centuries old fued with the Shirai Ryu but the Sub-Zero we see in MK9 wouldn't be inclined to give a shit about that. He just wants to finish his missions and go home to his brother, nothing else really matters.

So I thought that it would make more sense if he knew that his father had been killed by the Shirai Ryu, of course he wouldn't care that the Shirai Ryu had been wiped out. Bi-Han isn't exactly a nice dude (that doesn't mean he's evil NRS come on now) so he would just be glad that the guy who killed his dad was dead, who cares how many other people died with him.

But if the Shirai Ryu took the family back with him to protect them, that leads to some interesting possibilities.

Mama Ru learning to fight like a Shirai Ryu so that she could defend her kids.

Lian, Bi-Han, and Kuai Liang becoming a lethal trio as they grow up and join the clan properly.

The kids probably got bullied too for being Lin Kuei by heritage, so seeing them defend themselves against that would be rly cool.

We know that Hano joined the clan against his father's wishes, so he probably joined as a teenager, but Harumi I hc was part of the clan from birth. It would be really cool to see Hanzo join up and have a bisexual panic bc Kuai Liang and Harumi (the best friend duo that everyone has money on becoming a couple some day) are both really hot and really nice to him (they are having a silent competition over his attention) and he doesn't know what to do with it.

That could be a really cool concept, just, all around.

My totally original Undertale AU

Okay, okay. I just thought up of the perfect Undertale AU. I was a little inspired by various creepastas like Sonic.exe from friday night funkin. So behold, my horror AU for Undertale:

The premise is the same. Frisk, the human falls into the underground.

As they explore the underground, Flowey suddenly shows up! He acts all friendly, but SURPRISE!! He's actually evil and fucked up!

"OOooooo Im gonna kill yooouuuuuuuu"

Luckily Toriel saves the child. Phew!

The game plays out as normal, except... a murderous entity controls Frisk to... kill every1!!

BLOOOOOODDDDD (or dust, or whatever. Pretty sure monsters can't bleed.)

THEN, when Frisk goes to exit the ruins, THE ENTITY KILLs TORIEL. SHE STARTS BLEEDING HYPERREALISTIC BLOOD FROM HER EYES.

No she doesn't, but she does smile creepily before dying. Of course, YMMV on that one.

After exiting the ruins, you meet Sans. Unlike in a normal route, Frisk doesn't react to Sans' initial joke. They also constantly step over Papyrus' puzzles. Weird, right?

The entity continues on, controlling Frisk to kill everyone that moves. By the time they reach Snowdin Town, every NPC is straight up gone. For example, in the shop, there's only a note begging Frisk not to hurt their family.

Papyrus, still willing to see the good in everyone, offers to spare Frisk. Not a chance. The entity kills him in cold blood.

Moving on to Waterfall, the entire place is abandoned. The only people there are Undyne, Monster Kid, and a few unlucky stragglers who get brutally killed off.

Everything plays out as usual, until the bridge scene with Monster Kid. As Frisk/the entity moves in for the kill, SUDDENLY...

Undyne jumps in and takes the fatal blow instead. As Monster Kid escapes, Undyne starts to slowly turn to dust...

NOT! She powers up into a super cool form called Undyne the Undying and tries to strike the evil down in front of her.

It's a grueling battle, but ultimately, evil triumphs over good. Undyne the Undying melts HORRIFICALLY and dies.

The entity moves on to Hotland. Mettaton tries to stop it, but falls in one blow.

Eventually, the entity reaches the judgement hall. Sans has gotten up from his lazy ass, and is trying to make a last ditch effort to stop the entity once and for all. Especially after you killed his brother.

A valiant effort, but he fails. The entity kills him, another one to fall. Only one monster left in the underground.

King Asgore stands no chance. He falls just as easily as the others.

Flowey's back again. He tearfully begs the entity not to kill him. You don't listen.

Chara shows up, awakened by your kills. That's right. This whole time, the entity that controlled poor Frisk to murder all those monsters? That was you. Who's the real monster? You should know by now.

It's time to erase this world and move on to the next. You know what to do.

❤️️ part 1: Pride & Justice

I've been stewing Lust's backstory in my mind for a while, I want to make it a character intro at some point. Same thing with Honesty, but I'm having a harder time with Lust's because like... I want to make sure it's a well-rounded character so I don't trip into all the various pitfalls having an antagonist who represents the concept of lust brings. It's abusive and shitty, but I want it to be clear that it's choosing to be this way—and it was also taught to be this shitty through circumstance and its own trauma, just like how Pride was. I also think doing a full backstory will help me write it better, I'll know what I'm doing with it's character better than I currently do. I've also decided we're going to meet Chris (from the book club) before Lust, so my first it/its character isn't the evil one.

❤️️ part 2: Tales from Athendrolyn

November is coming up, so I'm VERY excited to do my little Anthology Blast plan!!! I've been especially excited to write the little gargoyle adoption prompt—I haven't had the idea as long as some of the other prompts, but ever since I came up with it, I've been obsessed. I know I want to have multiple volumes of my anthologies so I can just keep coming up with prompts forever, and I may end up bringing this gargoyle-carving character back at some point. I love her.

One of the prompts (not one of the ones I'll write in November, but still) is about a FWB pair that take love potions to Enhance their sex life, and I've been thinking about the culture surrounding love potions in this world now. For the prompt itself, I'm treating it like an intox kink, almost? It's like having sex while you're high, but the "high" is "immediately falling in love with whoever you're looking at." So would these things be legal? Do you have to make them yourself, is the recipe underground? Is it like.. a drug that in smaller doses is used for a genuine medical purpose, but when you take a lot of it you get stoned like this? So many questions brought up by this one prompt that I won't even be able to fit into the short story itself, but now I Have to think about it.

I've known for a while now that I want Asim to have regular correspondence with Mira while he's in the city, because I don't want to give him a sister and immediately write her out for the rest of the book, yknow? He talks about how his research is going, she talks about how she's adjusting to being the Speaker for their village. He might send money back... if he's getting paid at all? Still unclear about what's going on with that. Probably getting a research stipend or something.

I just like when there are siblings!!! With a good relationship! I think it's weird when people are like "all siblings fight and hate each other" because... I've always had a great relationship with my sibling? So I want to write more siblings that reflect my experience

I was thinking the other day about how many poetry collections are about how beautiful nature is, the natural world, how many poets are from rural backgrounds, and how many of them returned to the country from the city which is when they wrote their most critically acclaimed works etc. but like.... I love living in the city.

I lived in the suburbs most of my life, and now that I live in Chicago I can say with 100% certainty this is my preferred biome (I do wish it was warmer year-round but other than that). I love the city, I think it's just as beautiful and worthy of poetry as nature and rural areas. I dunno, I've been tossing around the idea of a poetry collection just based on how much I love the city. I think it would be neat

Wukong just has to scream and that sucking works

I forget that the White Bone Demon Arc is actaully like.... super early in the jounrey. Like they have been only on 3 adventure together AT MOST and that is no including getting Bajie And Wujing. At this point they are all still strangers to one another. They are barely a year in to a 14 year journey and this is like their first real test of faith in one another. Sanzang has only see a Head monk commit suicide, get kidnapped by Yellow Wind Demon and face the Immortal Equal to Earth at this point, all that I will admit aren't Wukong's best moments. But he still has this arrogance that Wukong can and should do anything he says. I think it says a lot where this chapter is going to go when this is there first test after coming off the Ginseng Fruit arc as a team and whether this will break them or they can come out strong for it.

This also makes the idea that Bajie, Wukong, Bailong, and Wujing are all parts of Sanzang that he fighting with himself. Bajie is his worldly mind seeing a beautiful woman and trusting her for that beauty. While Wukong is the rational part of Sanzang's mind that is trying to warn him about the dangers. Sanzang not listening to Wukong is him not listening to himself, rather choosing what he want to believe instead of the truth in front of him.

Funny enough this does suggest she was using dead bodies as her shield So the illusion is very convincing as it was once a real person but they should be long dead by now

Even here Sanzang is 1/3 convinced (kinda strange way of putting it) as though Wukong is sure of himself but Wujing and Bajie are not, hence why Bajie is vocal about his objections and Wujing opts to say nothing as he too wants to see the best in everyone, hoping that what the woman said was true.

Such symbolically filled chapters and also show the dynamics and where they stand one year into the journey. Like they are just starting to understand one another from what we see in the Ginseng Fruit arc and starting to understand their roles not only in the party but to one another as well. Sanzang is the one here who needs to grow the most in order to get past his arrogance and grow not only as a master but as a person as well. It was very smart to put this chapter early in the book, I know it’s in the second volume but this is legit just the third large trial arc on this journey setting the tone for the rest of the journey and how they interact with one another here. Sanzang still doesn’t fully trust Wukong here and Bajie letting his jealousy for his brother show I honestly think Bajie is more just wanting Wukong to get in trouble and like tease the other, cause he is disappointed by the lack of a free meal, but he is never intended for Wukong to be so far gone as to be sent away.

Still not over Wukong calling Sanzang a whore and saying "I'll build you a bed so you can just fuck you're self out of the monk lifestyle you floozy"

It just occurred to me that Neither Wujing nor Bajie has seen Sanzang use the spell until now. Like Sanzang told them about it in the Ginseng Fruit arc but they had never seen it in action because he hadn't used it in the past 6 months. I think he only used it when they were at the Temple with that evil monk dude and Wukong lost the cassock but he hasn't used it since.

Yup, just check he only used the spell when he lost the cassock and hasn't used it since. Shit they really are in for a bumping ride.

SO LIKE Sanzang has admitted that he doesn't mind dying, sure he doesn't want to but he gives off the vibes that he knows it can happen to him at any moment and he would just accept his evitable death (I'm not sure if that is low key suicidal but deadass not really saying he wants to live either). Wukong on the other hand knows this guy is going to die and being a monkey of his word wants to repay him for freeing him under the mountain. Wukong has been shown before to have a lot of gratitude to people that help him in the past, his own Master Puti and Guanyin for starters as he never forgets when he owes a debt (unless you are Ao Guang then tough shit). Sanzang thinks he hit an innocent person that hasn't wrong them yet while Wukong argues otherwise and even goes on to say that he will fight again even if Sanzang uses the spell, he isn't going to be unruly again. Clearly Sanzang is in the wrong here but also this highlights just how loyal and honest Wukong is as a character, sure he is a trickster and known to be cunning and can use deceitful tactics to get his way but overall him as a person is always honest with his intentions and what he thinks and believes, which is very interesting wonderful dichotomy.

Also, love that Wukong just..... straight out points out that an old lady probs can't give birth as his reasoning. He really is the Monkey of Mind.

Okay so like..... he was RIGHT to do so but ALSO YOU COULD HAVE GIVEN SOME WARNING SHE WAS A DEMON BEFORE DOING THAT

He uses the spell again and tries to send him away, harsh words deadass. At this point, it is clear that Sanzang is just digging in his heels refusing to trust Wukong after already set in stone in his mind that the last person they killed was an actaully person. Now any trust they have built over the last year is gone and it is only going to get worse.

I can't tell if Cheng'en is trying to make the pain like.... funny like in a cartoon but it def leaves disturbing mental images.

Even being sent away they still bicker Wukong more offended by his pride as a monk is being questioned than being sent away

Wukong this time uses the excuse of having the fillet to keep him around, that he would be dishonored coming home with it on his head, and that if Sanzang can't take it off then he better come along all the while. It is a different excuse than the first one, rather than using Sanzang's natural compassion against him, he is using Sanzang's need to bear responsibility over him. That as the master if he can't loosen it then he has no right to send him away with it still on. Which is interesting in Buddhism culture as any action Wukong does so reflects on his Master, meaning that every life Wukong takes, whether human or demon is on Sanzang's hands he is responsible for Wukong during the whole journey. It is that kind of Shifu-Tudi mentality that students are an extension of their masters and that they carry on their will through their actions. Anytime Wukong does something 'unruly' in Sanzang's eyes it is because he himself as failed as a master to teach Wukong properly. To Sanzang, Wukong's failures are his own and sending him away would be him trying to give up not only on Wukong but also on himself for not being able to properly teach Wukong.

Bajie shut the fuck up your giving the party anxiety.

Wukong be weighing his options of whether to save Sanzang from his demon if and when she catches him or just kill her now. He had a calculated risk that he will be able to talk himself out of this one.

He willing to keep Sanzang safe even if it meant getting that Spell. never was there a more brave soldier.
