A franchise based on a fictional minority who struggles to fight for their rights and even their lives seems the perfect place to find an ENFJ at its core. Whether it's Patrick Stewart's older more suave performance or James Mcavoy's young passionate and fervent, Professor X, you can really see an ENFJ in their element. While even mundane everyday life can be brighten and motivated by Protagonists, they truly shine within struggle. Professor X's leadership skills are only a small part of his ENFJ aura. His ability to to understand and help each of his students and X-men is an ENFJ super power of their own. One act that comes not from a desire to be liked by others, but a genuine want to better other's lives. The passion and vigor portrayed especially by James Mcavoy's younger Xavier, is another clear indicator of a Protagonist. And I think we can all agree only an ENFJ would be lying at the feet of one of the most powerful villains ever imaginable without their powers OR wheelchair while half their team is out of the fight and STILL not loose hope or belief in their cause or their people. Captain James T. Kirk // The Star Trek Trilogy

While William Shatner's OG Kirk from the original series and that timeline's movie series, is probably more of an ENTJ, Chris Pine's rendition of the iconic Captain James T. Kirk in the new Star Trek Movies is absolutely an ENFP. Based around an alternate timeline, we see a different Kirk, one who grew up without a father and rough and lonely childhood. Not that this is a recipe for creating an ENFP, but it's a very different life than the OG Kirk had, making it clear this is set in an alternate timeline. In the first installment we see a very immature and unhealthy version of an ENFP. Kirk gets into bar fights by making smart remarks at a few Starfleet cadets, sleeps with random women, and unwittingly hits on his future Communications Officer. Through the movie he goes from so many different positions aboard the Enterprise (at one point even being shot out in an escape pod and stranded on a remote ice planet) it would make your head spin. This chaotic plot line shows Kirk's character development into becoming Captain. It's in the second and third installments we see a healthy ENFP in their prime. Kirk continuously puts the welfare of his crew and even a society of tribe like aliens, above his own. His "gut feelings" are usually in support of ideas that seem insane and dangerous to his first officer, Spock, (a definite INTJ) though always for a good or necessary cause and these ideas always work out one way or another. Kirk's deep care for his crew, chaotic actions, hilarious and utterly charming demeanor, and unbridled enthusiasm, makes him a fantastic portrayal of the Campaigner.

Remus Lupin // The Harry Potter Film Series

One of the best characters in the world famous fantasy book/movie series, David Thewlis does a fantastic job at capturing the INFJ that is Hogwart's defense against the dark arts teacher/werewolf. While Remus was only a teacher at the school of witchcraft and wizardry for a single year, he was one of the most impactful on the protagonist's character development. The teaching position of defense against the dark arts changes with every movie, usually aiding in the continuing plot line, and Remus is without a doubt the best one at the job. Not only does he become a mentor to Harry, but we also see him give each of his students (not just the famous ones) his full attention. The rare Advocates (only making up 2% of the population) have their own magical ability of sorts, in where they can intuitively read those around them and find what will help/inspire them; sometimes seeing something in that person, the person may not even see in themselves. Remus opts for a style of teaching that is best for each individual and doesn't rely on traditional conformity. In the third movie (his debut) we see the professor use a magical trunk that harbors a bogart, a magical entity that will transform into your worst fear. In his first lesson, he not only teaches his students to confront their worst fear in a safe environment (as he's by their side), but also teaches them to turn it into something ridiculous. While giving the young witches and wizards some truly INFJ wisdom. By barring the realistic nature of fear itself, he explains that even though fear will always remain with you that doesn't mean it can't be beaten or overcome. His vital role in the later movies as the voice of reason and the voice that always values the humanitarian principle (standing up for what's right), while still struggling to battle his own demons (lycanthropy of a corporeal nature) and never making it about himself, is a level of emotional organization Advocates do as second nature. With Lupin's wise diction, tranquil cadence, inner battles, and emotional intuition, he makes the perfect candidate for the INFJ spot on this list.

Luna Lovegood // The Harry Potter Film Series

Another beloved character from the Wizarding Franchise, one of Harry's closest comrades, played by Irish born actress Evanna Lynch, the soft spoken Ravenclaw is a fantastic embodiment of a Mediator. She maintains a special and pivotal role in Harry's life. While he has Hermione to give him captain obvious analytical slaps in the face and Ron to serve as a reliable and dependable comrade; Luna provides Harry with much needed breaks from the intensity of the on going events, honest answers, and genuine reassurance. Awwww haha, baby boy Sebby is honestly a very observant and reliable kind of S/O, I think. He will notice even the tiniest of changes in MC’s expression--the slightest shifts in her temperament. As a result of his attentive nature he has an easy time deducing the things she might like, always makes a mental note of where her eyes linger. Is there a classic she once loved in her time being published for the first time in their era, on display at a bookstore nearby? Noted. Does she hover near shops filled with self-care products--things like scented candles or lotions or bath salts, things she considers indulgent luxuries? Noted. Is there an outfit that caught his eye in a boutique, something he thinks would complement her complexion perfectly? Noted. 

The thing about Sebastian is that his gifts will be heartfelt, timely, and devastatingly thoughtful. Whether something small or something lavish it will always be precisely what she needs/wants, and she can sense the loving care he put into finding the perfect gift.

H = Holding Hands (When/how does he like to hold hands?)

Honestly? Sebastian has spent the better part of his life alone. His circumstances weren’t the worst; for all that he’s lost in his life he never went hungry, lived comfortably. But...that doesn’t change the fact that his life has been fairly devoid of meaningful human contact. Even in college, friends and close colleagues were hard to come by. The few people he did develop budding feelings for he always gave up on long before it could become any kind of substantial relationship. He was always the type to admire from afar, never really felt worthy of the people he liked.

It was MC that was the first to reach out to him, and for the first little while in their relationship she will be the one most naturally inclined to reach for him. He isn’t really used to having someone by his side like this, somebody who would be delighted to hold his hand--who wants to be close to him. It’s always a shock when they go grocery shopping and he just feels her fingers wrap gently around his. She blushes a little and says something about not wanting to get separated, but it’s clear what her real motivation was.

After those first few months, it becomes much more natural for him to reach for her hand when they’re traveling somewhere together or when they’re alone. He likes to intertwine their fingers, loves the way they fit against his perfectly. His shyness wears off after a while, and it’ll be rare to see them together without them holding hands--unless they’re cooking or at work.

J = Jokes (Does he like to joke around with or prank her? How?)

Do you know how cats have their eyes all narrow thin pupil but then they go REALLY REALLY round? That’s Sebastian. I tend to refer to it as “Silly Time Mode Engaged.”

Now then, his kind of joking is very dry and very deadpan. It’s subtle and immediate, so if you’re not attuned to it it can be easy to miss. That, or people just look at him weird because they don’t quite get the connection he’s making and/or the delivery feels off because his facial expression doesn’t change at all, completely flat. That being said, one of his all time favorite things to do is to say something absurd or nigh histrionic (which tends to be uncharacteristic of him) and wait for the confused head turn/startled laughter to hit. He will make puns and play on words all the time--he puts his academic knowledge to good use.

“I swear when I first met you I was convinced you were an AI.” “Alexa taught me everything I know.” He’ll bow. “Oh? Do I have competition, in that case?” “Your speakers are suboptimal (he pokes her freckles), but you possess what Alexa lacks.” “And that would be?” He’ll gather her close, smiling against her lips. “My heart.” :D cutest robot I ever saw uwu

Bonus bc I have a problem: “Is stealing hearts in Alexa’s programming? Just to be safe, of course.” “I think it’s safe to say it isn’t within the parameters of her design--but that doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods just yet.” cue sounds of tickling and laughter

The other way Sebastian messes with MC is that he is an ENORMOUS tease in the bedroom. He’s very much the kind of lover that prefers to tantalize and draw things out; a long, slow seduction that will render MC immobile from the pleasure by the end. The promise of a kiss is almost always only a whisper of the feeling he intends to drown her in. Remember that Sebastian’s stoicism belies a nigh inhuman ardor and self-control. He’s more than willing to leave her wanting in order to fully capitalize on that desire later at night.

P = Pet Names (What does he like to call her?)

Other than her name? HE DOESN’T AHAAHAHAHAHA Just kidding of course, but given where he comes from pet names between couples aren’t...really a thing…(take it up with Japan, I Was Today Years Old, my sappy romantic ass would never survive)

The funny inverse of this though is that he does NOT fuck around with people that try to call MC pet names. When Arthur Tries It™ he canonically goes all steely saccharine, openly telling the others they’re together. So none of that “luv” or “doll” business, he will not have it (he won’t fight the purebloods on it because 1. they’re more like doting grandfathers than anything and 2. Sebastian does not have a death wish). If MC has a nickname of some kind, then I could see him using that or adding his own spin on it with a great deal of affection c:

U = Upset (How does he act when she’s upset?)

Whether he was the cause or not, Sebastian has a single modus operandi when his beloved is upset (and to anyone who’s upset really) and that is to offer gentle reassurance/an apology. He is very, very sensitive to the feelings of others and really takes it to heart when someone isn’t feeling well. That being said, he won’t always be overt about his concern--he’s more the type to do little things that offer constant support/reminders that he’s there for them. 

If it’s something more serious, he will do everything in his power to minimize the harm done and sooth the MC. His attempts to comfort her will be tender, muted, and consistent; prolonged hugs, doubles his offering of sweets, makes her favorite foods, gives her a relaxing bath salt to use--anything that he knows for certain will coax her lips up into a smile. He’s the type to freely offer space for her to figure things out if she needs it, but he will also be watchful; he won’t let things escalate if she needs externalized support to heal (bc lbr some problems we can’t solve alone ;-;).

His other go-to method is to offer distractions in any capacity that he can. Will offer to teach her a new recipe, or find a new type of flower he wants to plant together, or make up some kind of project he needs help with. Sometimes he’ll genuinely need the help, but most of the time he does it for the express purpose of getting her mind away from negative things and focused on him/the present. It’s hard to dwell on upsetting things when you’re body is physically demanding something else from you, even more so if it’s a fairly complex task. She’s known to be very dutiful; she’ll be so focused on doing a good job she’ll forget the sadness/irritation for a bit and the intensity of the emotion might ebb slightly.

If the issue is lighter, he’ll probably just cuddle/tickle her back to fighting spirit, pressing kisses wherever he can reach until she starts giggling. In these instances he prefers to hug her from behind, a reminder that she doesn’t have to face anything unpleasant or unnerving all on her own; he’ll always be there to hold her steady whenever she needs him. 

And rest assured, this man is always gathering data to optimize his comfort capabilities. He is incredibly adaptable, and will always be watching her reactions closely to adjust his strategies.

What He Looks For In A S/O~

• He would most likely want someone who was an artist, cuz he needs someone who understands and relates to his passion and will challenge him on perspectives (respectfully, ofc)

• Needs someone who is as active as he is, he could not deal with someone who wanted to stay home all the time

• Dei is a wild child so whether he knows it or not, he’s going to need someone to balance him out with a more calm/logical outlook on life

• But that’s not to say he wants to date a square cause that’s a big fat LIE

• He needs an S/O who’s able to keep with his spontaneous attitude and mood swings

• He’d probably be drawn to the innocence of his S/O, he’s seen and done a lot of hard things in his life so would love to be able to leave the darkness behind around you

• If his S/O was a shinobi he’d be relieved cause they can take care of themselves, but he would also want to accompany you on missions because this boy can WORRY

• Being insensitive about his speech tic (un, yeah, hm) he’s already come to term with them, but he doesn’t need you, or anyone else rubbing it in

• As stated earlier, not being able to get along with Sasori, or him just generally disapproving of you more than he does the average person

• Being overly clingy. Example, when he’s working on his art and you’re all over him, infringing on his special time

• Playing hard to get or trying to make him jealous. Dei is naturally impatient so it makes no sense as to why you’re trying to get a rise out of him. He can pretty blunt and he expects you to just come out and say it if something is bothering you.

• Slightly nsfw, but pulling on his hair. He doesn’t like his hair being ripped out in the slightest

• Contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t use his hand mouths for anything other than art. Those are his art tools, his partners, and he’d be much too weirded out to use them for anything different

• He’s like a scarily healthy eater. Not necessarily vegetarian/vegan but is a calorie counter and has a very balanced diet

• He loves to do little not so harmless pranks on Itachi as mini revenge. He’s even more ruthless as Itachi begins to lose his eyesight

• If you’re also headstrong, there will be plenty of arguments, usually over small things

• Best case scenario, something says something that makes you both laugh and problem solved or you end up making out (cuz oh my jashin scowling Deidara can step on my NECK)

• Worst case scenario, someone storms out and you don’t talk for a bit

• When he wants he can give a verbal tongue lashing harsh enough to make anyone cower

• Eventually, one of you will cave. You miss each other too much and even art isn’t filling the void

• Apologies are mumbled but heartfelt as to not bruise either of your egos but also cuz you’re both genuinely sorry

• However, if you’re not confrontational, it might actually cause him to mellow out a bit (only around you though)

• He can’t bring himself to have a one-sided argument with you. It makes him feel guilty and does a lot of damage

• Instead, he might actually talk things out, courtesy of self-calming techniques you probably showed him at one point

• He’s that one college student that is at every party but still gets great grades??

•!He has a double major for sure, art and chemistry, cause how else is he going to make perfect explosions?

• If he wasn’t recruited to a sports team (I could see him doing gymnastics or wrestling honestly) then you had best believe he’s a serious martial artist

• He’s smart and sells (non-explosive) sculptures for money on the side

• He loves road trips, doesn’t care as much about the destination, he just loves driving places

• A serious ride or die friend, like loyal to a fault, but if you ruin that he won’t make any efforts to restore it

• Incredibly independent and struggles to ask for help even if he’s bad at a particular subject

•’CEO of completing assignments the night before its due and still acing it

• His living space is purely organized chaos like everything has it’s own system even if it looks like a mess

• Wouldn’t mind having a roommate, but he’s also used to living alone so he’s fine either way

• If he did, it’d probably be Sasori, cause he’s one of the only people who could TRULY handle Dei 24/7 (barely)

• Isn’t an overachiever, but just like with art, if someone’s going to see his work, it’s going to be his best work

• Even when his friends drink, he’s not that big on it. Feels like it hinders his inspiration and he gets AWFUL hangovers and can barely handle it

• Modern Dei is a great Dei, cause no matter what our blonde baby is best. Period.

Bonus Chapter 9

I finished writing this little scene in Cat’s story and I’m not sure when I’ll get to it if I posted in order so I just decided to post it now. 

This would take place about 1.5-2 months after their wedding. Also trigger warning for mention of self harm and suicide.

“You know what, I can’t wait to get home a bit early. There’s this recipe I found that I want to try out,” Cat said sticking her hand out of the window feeling the breeze of the highway against her skin. “I can have dinner fully ready by the time John gets home for once.”

Lance stoic as ever glanced quickly not wanting to take his eyes off the road for very long, “I still don’t know why you choose to make dinner when people can do it for you.”

“The same reason I run the center: I need to keep busy somehow,” Catlina stated, “Besides it feels normal. I never realized how much I would miss normal.” She stared at the light blue chiffon skirt, seeing it sparkle ever so slightly in the sun. She also would never admit it to Lance that despite her and John’s agreement of only looking like a couple in the public eye, Cat started to like the idea of them being a couple behind closed doors. Cat chalked it up to the fact that she had lived as a unit with a person for so long that anything less was just off. It probably didn’t help that her and John shared the same bed still, she didn’t like sleeping alone and it was easier to keep the act up.

Lance looked to her sympathetically with his hazel eyes as they slowed down in the driveway of the house. “I think you need to start finding a new definition of normal,” he told her looking around the property, “Hey shouldn’t we check up on Nanette since we got some time?”

Cat looked at Lance confused, the question came out of the blue, “We were just there yesterday and I told her I would be there tomorrow.” She stepped out of the car, Lance following her.

“I just think it would be nice,” Lance moved quickly to get ahead of her, “Besides you two can make some of the pie you want her to teach you.”

Cat stopped looking Lance up and down, “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you were trying to keep me out of the house, Lance.” Catlina walked past him straight to the front door. Crossing the threshold she noted how quiet the whole house was, there wasn’t anyone inside. Weird, she thought, shrugging her shoulders. Cat moved through the house quietly, she just wanted to change out of her Eden’s Gate garb. As she walked towards the stairs in the house Cat started to hear a faint banging. The closer she got to the master bedroom the louder and more obvious to her that it was rhythmic. This was the reason that Lance wanted her to see Nanette, why there was no one else in the house.

Cat’s heart started to fall, hearing the cries of a woman with each step bringing her closer to the door. Her hands started to shake as she reached for the handle. She hesitated, if she opened it she was sure she was going to find John in there, with whom it didn’t matter. If she stayed out here and left the house she could remain blissfully ignorant. She didn’t know why she needed to know but she did and her shaky hand placed itself on the handle turning it. She pushed it open a crack, the moans no longer muffled. A few more inches and she could see the woman with her pale skin and short dark raven hair being gripped by tattooed hands. John was on his knees while the woman was straddling him upright, John her only support from falling backwards. 

Cat’s heart sank as she felt her screaming and crying become lodged in her throat, the tension building in her body as she felt a fiery ache in her chest form. Catlina felt her free hand turn into a white knuckled fist, her eyes narrowing as a small audible gasp left her lips. Blue eyes shaded by black hair glanced her way meeting her brown eyes, before Cat turned shutting the door harder than she should have. Cat stalked out of the house past everyone not caring about where she was going, she just had to make sure her tears didn’t fall yet. 

There was no reason to get this angry and upset. She knew what she was getting herself into, then why did she want to start screaming and throwing things at John. She just needed time away, she needed to calm down. No she needed to give him a piece of her mind is what she needed to do! She should go back there and expose the living hell of him and his hypocrisy. And then what? What will that do for you? Cat couldn’t do that, for many reasons the biggest being that neither had wanted this marriage and exposing John would create the possibility of herself being exposed too. 

“Besides, you knew what you were getting into. There’s no need to be hurt and upset by this,” she repeated to herself as she approached an old swing on the property. Cat looked around not seeing anyone. The swing looked sturdy enough and so did the tree, whose trunk was littered with carvings of initials and what Cat assumed to be symbols of love unique to each set. She scoffed, scratching off some of the bark of the tree destroying some of the carvings. Cat sat on the swing gently making sure it would take her weight before she let her legs move out from under her. 

Cat was slow in propelling herself to the sky, she was swinging to think. She felt as angry as the day she went with John to the bunker, though with that situation she had every right to be as angry as she did. A person who got upset over catching their fake husband having sex with another person was someone that didn’t want their fake husband to be fake anymore. She didn’t want that right? No, there was no way she was going to develop those kinds of feelings for John. The most they could be was friends...maybe with some benefits. Though that was doubtful now. 

She wasn’t sure how long she had stayed in that spot but apparently long enough for John to find her and make himself presentable. She turned glancing at him before looking down to the ground in front of her, “I hope you put the sheets in the wash,” she said disdainfully. Cat used her foot to rock herself in the swing as she waited for a response.

“I thought you were supposed to be at the center today,” it was a statement more than it was a question.

“I finished early. Sometimes that happens.” Cat inhaled closing her eyes, “I’m not really mad or upset about what I just saw you doing, by the way.” 

She heard John’s footsteps move closer to her, he was just within her line of vision, “I would be if I were you.”

“Well you’re not me,” she snapped, seeing his eyebrow cock upward. “Sorry,” Cat quickly apologized. 

John crossed his arms, “You do that a lot.”

“I know. People have always told me I apologize too much,” Cat looked straight ahead to the aspen grove. 

John shook his head, “Not that. The anger,” he moved closer to her, “It comes out but then just as quickly it's gone.” He snapped his fingers for emphasis.

Cat shrugged her shoulders, “You ever thought it was because I’m in better control of my anger. Besides I don’t want to be a reminder of your trauma, even if you feel you have no triggers.”

“I think you don’t feel any anger, it’s all just an act,” John speculated, trying to bait her.

Cat furrowed her brows, “I do too,” she grumbled.

“Do you express that anger at all?” John was making her feel like she was being interrogated.

“Yes,” she stated, “I tell people when I’m upset with them.”

“I didn’t say upset. I said anger,” he strolled and took a seat on the tree stump crossing his legs, “If I remember correctly you’ve stated that they are two seperate feelings.” 

Cat narrowed her eyes at him letting out a heavy breath, “That’s not fair to use my own words against me.”

He gave a half smile, “You know that day at the bunker, as I made my way home, I thought I was going to hear you yell and scream that I’d finally get a chance to see who you are underneath your warm exterior.”

“So you’ve just been baiting me,” she tilted her head to the side, “Trying to make me angry?”

“Do you feel that I have?” Cat wanted to laugh, this was the John that everyone feared. The talker, the one who could twist your words.

She looked away from him, “You’re so frustrating at times, you know that. Why do we even need to talk about this?”

“Don’t you think it’s important to talk about it?”

“Stop that,” she said softly.

“Stop what?” Cat could hear the taunting in John’s voice with his words.

She let out a soft chuckle, “Touche, John.”

“Just tell me what it is that makes you angry, because there have been so many things here alone that do or well...should.” He put his hand out giving her the floor to speak, “Prove to me that you actually feel something.”

Cat rolled her eyes, she didn’t have to play this game of his. She knew she felt things, lord did she spend many sessions analyzing how intensely she could feel things with her therapist back home. She didn’t need to prove anything to John, but she felt herself doing so anyway, “I was angry for a little bit there finding you with her,” she let out a long breath, “but then I realized there was no need to feel it because we never claimed to be exclusive in private. Like you’ve said before it's not like we’re really married.” She shrugged her shoulders going back to swinging back and forth slowly. 

“You still felt it,” he looked at her questioningly, his chin in his hand, “But again you placed the feeling away like it wasn’t anything to listen to.”

“You’re not my therapist you know,” Cat started to rub the old rope with her thumb. “I don’t have to open up to you about my reasons to not be angry.”

John hummed in thought before speaking again, “Why don’t you want to get angry? Everything you’ve ever claimed to be angry about you find reasons why you shouldn’t be, even if being angry is justifiable.” 

That gave Catlina pause to think over his words, it was a line repeated to her over and over again by people. You have every right to be angry about this, it’s a justifiable reaction. As she felt herself swing, Cat tried to think of the answers that she gave people in the past, all were tinged with lies. Would they be good enough to get past John? “I just don’t like the feeling of it. I don’t like feeling out of control.”

John stared at her, Cat kept her motion on the swing going. It wasn’t a lie but it wasn’t the real truth to the matter. John gave a sigh, “It’s always two steps forward three steps back with you. Is it so bad to get to know you? You want to be civil but you keep changing the rules on me,” Cat stopped looking straight ahead, “I’m trying but you need to work with me.”

Cat swallowed, noticing John start to stand out of the corner of her eye, “I’m scared to get angry,” she said solemnly, looking at her lap. “I fear that if I get angry I won’t stop. At least if I find some way to get angry at myself then no one else gets hurt.”

John didn’t turn to face her completely, “That fear doesn’t just come from nowhere.”

Cat shook her head, “You’re right it doesn’t. But the reason doesn’t matter after knowing what I know about you.”

“I thought everyone’s struggles were equal because they happened?” Guess John paid more attention than I thought, “But knowing you, I’m sure you won’t tell me.”

Cat was being baited, she knew that. It still didn’t stop her from taking it as she swallowed, “When I was about five, maybe six, I remember being woken in the middle of the night, I was told to pack what I could fit in this small pink suitcase, by my mom. My sisters and I were to pack everything we would need in the span of ten minutes, maybe less I don’t really know or remember.” She looked at John who was now looking at her, blue eyes steady, “We drove for hours, I think we went over state lines at one point, I was scared and my sisters were too. My mom wouldn’t tell us anything other than to shut up because she was driving.”

“Mom where’s dad? Can’t we go back home already?” 

Cat sniffled holding back her emotions, “I found out later my parents had gotten into a fight, nothing new during that time, they fought a lot.” Cat watched John move to take a seat again before continuing, “It was always so much screaming, it scared all three of us, but I had to be the one to make sure they would be safe.” John nodded, he understood that much, Jacob was their protector in their home, “We didn’t have to worry about the same things as you thankfully, but they still got violent with each other.”

“You saw, or at least heard, your dad hitting your mom,” he interjected softly, “That still must have been traumatic for you three.”

Cat gave a sad smile, “Not my dad,” she felt her heart start to race, “My mom. Dad never hit her, at most he pushed her in self defense. My mom-.” She paused trying to find the best way to word everything, before realizing she didn’t need to. John didn’t know her and her mom was two states away, what did it matter what Gina Rojas thought of how her daughter painted her. “My mom seemed to always instigate the fighting. It would start as screaming over something small, like dishes or lack of helping us with homework, etcetera. Soon though they would move upstairs to their room and that’s where we could hear the stomping around. Glass breaking, things hitting the wall, the sound of skin to skin contact sometimes. My mom would throw all that she could grab at my dad or start slapping him, I think punched him once or twice. Their room was always a mess afterwards.”

“Where did the leaving come in?” John asked softly.

“She’d get so mad at him that she would threaten to leave him and I guess that night she went through with it, well for a few days at least. It happened one other time that she took us with her, after that she just left the house by herself,” she shrugged, shaking her head. “She was always so dramatic. Once I got old enough to watch my sisters, I think I was eight maybe nine,” Cat chuckled, “the fighting slowed, it wasn’t so often. Then again my dad started to go on more trips for work to make more money. So there wasn’t a need to fight him at least, but she still seemed to have this anger that she needed to let free every now and then. So she yelled at us and made punishments harsher.” Cat looked to John gauging his reaction to what she was telling him, his body was still as he sat watching her. “I tried to make sure that I got all the punishment that I could, but every now and again my sisters would get it.” Catlina stifled her laughter, “There was one time she tried to take my sister to the orphanage, over I think spilling a drink in our room and for ‘talking back’. I cried and cried holding on to her for dear life until mom pushed me off of her,” the whole situation was ludicrous and Cat’s need to laugh was strong at just how ridiculously harsher the punishment was to the crime, “My mom came back with her a few hours later and said I was her saving grace because I cared about her so much. I don’t think either of them remember that incident though.” Cat felt some tears fall down her face, “She never hit us like your parents did. She wasn’t a bad mom, not really, she loved us.”

“I don’t think you feel your last statement is completely true. That last time you even made the slightest mention of your mom there was a bitter tone,” John surmised. 

Cat bit her lip smiling at John, he caught her, “And people say you’re just a pretty face.” She shrugged, “You’re right though I guess. I stopped seeing her like a mom after my first suicide attempt when she left me all alone in that hospital. Never bothered to check up on me until I seemed ‘stable’ enough.” Cat could feel her arms and hands become numb, ghost like, “Until my depression reared its ugly head there was so much about our childhood that was normal, the fighting was a small blip, only staying because bad memories stay longer than good ones.” Cat shut her eyes conjuring up one last memory, “I’ll never forget the time my sister and I walked in during one of their fights and the look,” Cat shivered at the memory, “The look she gave my sister and I...well I had never seen that look before. It was just pure fury. Her eyes may as well have been red, horns growing from her head, surrounded by smoke and fire. If I had to define wrath,” her voice became distant, “it would just be a snapshot of that memory.” She looked to John feeling more in her body again, “I vowed I was never going to let myself get to that point. If I never get angry I can never get to her level. The closest I ever felt close was when I had started a new medication. I felt myself go for a punch, on someone I care about, over something so small, that I don’t even remember what it was.”

John leaned against his knees letting out a breath, “I’m sorry you had to experience that. Though offering my opinion here, that shouldn’t stop you from letting yourself become angry.”

“I do become angry John,” Cat started to swing again, “I just control it.”

“Suppress it. Not control it,” he stood walking in front of her. “Right now. Get angry.”

She looked up to him, eyebrow cocked, “I’m not angry though.”

“You just found out your husband has been sleeping around,” John goaded, “That he’s been, in your words, torturing people. You’ve been taken from your home, your family.” Cat turned away, shutting her eyes, her hands gripping the ropes tighter. “You were forced to marry. You’re mistrusted by everyone here, acting like I don’t see the loneliness in your eyes when you come home some days.” 

“Stop,” Cat whispered, “Stop talking please.”

John’s voice increased in volume, “And before that, you were abandoned by your mother. Made out to be crazy. Shamed into trying to find love and affection in anyone that would give it to you.” Catlina’s heart started to beat in her ears, “ How you just admitted to your mom nearly taking away your own sister, to never be seen again. So tell me do those things make you angry?”

Cat took deep breaths as she tried to keep her emotions in check. He wanted her to blow up, wanted her to get violent like him. She wasn’t going to play his game, “I feel angry. I get upset about many things.”

“Do you though? Are you so immature that you think you can never let it out? That you can rationalize it away all the time?” He reached for one of her arms, “Or do you just enjoy taking it out on yourself?” He twisted it so her inner arm was facing her the ridges of old scars glaring at her.

She wretched her arm away, “Stop! You don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just keep a level head. No matter how much you want to hurt him.

“Don’t I?” His smile turned her blood to ice, “Okay so how about the injustice in the world? Little Miss everyone should be treated equally and fairly. Does that not make you mad? You struggled your whole adult life trying to make a living, trying to make some kind of life out of the pennies you were tossed every now and then. All while those in charge laughed at you, mocked you, took away from you.” He was inches from her, she wanted to scratch his blue eyes out, “How this country put a man in charge that says you and your family shouldn’t even be here. That you deserve to live in cages,” Catlina’s ears rang as she felt her teeth start to grind. If she could she would have torn his venomous tongue from his mouth, “Are you really going to sit there and tell me that you don’t feel angry about that?”

Catlina stood quickly, her hand going for his throat, before stopping herself from making contact, red over taking her peripherals, “I said. STOP!” She felt the heat rise to her cheeks as her breathing sped up, “Stop! You don’t know fuck all about me!” John took a step back. She stalked closer to him looking him in the eye. He wanted her angry he was going to get her anger, “Stop trying to act like some goddamn devil’s advocate. Stop trying to get me to be like you!” She grabbed his shirt bringing his face eye level to her, “I don’t want to be like you! I refuse to let my anger, my pain, rule how I live my life!” She released him with a shove seeing him almost trip over his feet, “I will not buy into this bullshit of yours that I have to stay angry at the world in order to change it! I’m one person! I can’t do much other than try to make the world better to those I come into contact with!” She stabbed his chest with her finger, “And for some god forsaken reason that includes you too.” 

The red started to dissipate as her eyes came back into focus, finding herself greeted with a smug grin, “Yes!” He placed his hands on her shoulders, “There! Right there!” Cat’s eyes went wide, her brows knitting, “There’s that anger. Just let it out! Show me what you’re capable of!”

Cat shook her head, mouth agape, taking a step back, He’s...he’s way too excited about this. She shrugged his hands off of her, “No,” she said softly, “No I’m not going to keep playing your game,” she turned facing the house.

His hand wrapped around her upper arm, “It’s not a game,” he growled, “It’s a life lesson.”

She pulled his hand off of her, “I don’t need whatever life lesson you’re going to give me.” She threw his hand down, “New and final rule: Don’t ever come near me again.” She stomped off towards the house.

“If what you say is true, that rule won’t last very long,” he called out to her.

“Fuck you, John!” John didn’t attempt to follow her as she made her way into the house locking the door to the guest bedroom behind her, a chair placed under the handle just in case. Her heart was beating out of her chest as she paced the room, “Don’t play into his hand. Don’t let it overtake you,” she whispered to herself clasping her shaking hands. Why did she let herself be baited by him? She could keep a level head any other time when people said those things. What made John Seed so different? 

“You’re not going to play his game, you’re going to stay sane. Stay true to yourself,” she could still feel the clenching of her jaw and tension in her body as she breathed slowly. “It’s your fault that he was right. You knew exactly what he was doing and you still let him get to you,” she paused catching her reflection in the mirror. “You idiot! You’re supposed to be smart! You fell for his tricks! Let your stupid heart get in the way of your better judgement!” You need to punish yourself. Cat searched the room for anything sharp enough to break skin, settling on pulling off the metal corner on one of their holy books. It would take a few runs to break into blood but it would hurt, that’s all that mattered. That’s all she needed to get back to normal.

the sequel/companion piece/contrast piece to my heat headcanon! mainly winter for most of them with sprinkles of not-quite-winter-yet and just-plain-chilly

Nobunaga may be the Lord of Hell, but he is not above draping his haori over his head to keep his head toasty warm, even if it makes him look ridiculously childlike. Brings an old towel out to the garden so he can sit in his favourite tree without freezing his butt off. Frequently smuggles a kitten or puppy into the castle for the day so it can have some warmth and food.

Mitsunari takes full advantage of the fact that it’s too cold out for creepy-crawlies to be around by burning specific incenses to enhance his reading experience instead of the usual insect-repelling incense. Has a secret talent for avoiding every icy patch of ground without compromising the fluidity of his movements that contribute to his ethereal beauty. 

Shigezane tries to swing by the kitchens as much as possible: there are lots of good smells all around, chatting with the maids is always enjoyable and it’s warm. After a night of snowfall, the snow bunnies that pepper the courtyard of Omori Castle are a result of his handiwork. Incorporates snowball fights into training as a form of increasing agility and improving endurance in the cold, which usually ends in a tremendous free-for-all with everyone, even the maids and Hiromasa.

World Building June 2018 - Day 21, Fun

Now this is a prompt relevant to my main culture! A good portion of Concordians (enough that they have a voice on the government council) are carnival performers who regularly entertain the population. People enjoy arts and crafts, gardening, plays and concerts, cooking, parties and hanging out with family and friends... the only thing I can't see them doing much of is sports because they tend to be more into the arts than physical exertion. (The Protectorates do spar and practice-fight with each other, but I think this is as close as these people get to a sport.) The best way to answer this is with my characters because they have a wide range of interests that show a good cross section of Concordia. I’ll put most of them under the read more link, so if you’re curious what my dorks do in their spare time, read on!

Adair: His occupation is cartographer and even in his spare time you can usually find him with a pen or pencil. He's an Artisan with master painters as parents and he’s known how to draw and paint his entire life. This is tied for “favorite hobby” status with cooking and baking (and eating). One of his master's spouses is a master chef, so Adair's really good at cooking-- but even without that influence he'd cook anyway because Concordians like food. Part of why he loves being a cartographer and traveling so much is because he gets to try new food and learn new recipes. I've thought about giving him the hobby of playing with knots and string, like cat's cradle type things, because this is something he would be able to do to keep his hands busy while traveling when he can't necessarily sketch. I bet this also means that he's good with a yo-yo... and I think I have a random canon thing for him now lol.

Blythe: She's a Protectorate and her biggest love is gardening, which tends to be true of all Protectorates, especially the ones like her who have healing magic. She spends a lot of her free time creating new healing patterns or memorizing old ones so that she doesn't have to refer to a book-- she always wants to be as best as possible at everything she does. She's a blade performer with a carnival troupe (where she's their healer) so she'll practice sword dances and tossing/juggling knives, as well as the more practical exercises, stretches, and sparring she does as a Protectorate. Blythe likes to stay busy all the time, so when she's not doing something related to work, she's still doing something with her hands. She enjoys knitting, crochet, embroidery, and sewing.

Firedrake: Dray's the most performer-y of my carny characters and spends most of their time dancing and practicing with their performance props. When given the chance, Dray enjoys going to concerts because they love music. They can often be found reading and while this is frequently romance novels, they'll read just about anything. Dray enjoys mischief and playing pranks on strangers and friends alike, and will play with fire and matches if there's nothing else to do, so it's for the best to keep Dray from getting bored. Like Blythe, Dray sews, but this isn't a hobby so much as a practical skill because they embellish and/or make a lot of their own clothing and costumes.

Etri: He loves reading even more than Dray does and can frequently be found in libraries or bookstores. He'll read anything, but tends towards nonfiction and history. Since becoming Adair's sentinel, he's started studying up on art history. He's very into astronomy and poetry, although the writing poetry thing he keeps a secret. He's also a performer so he'll spend some of his time practicing a knife-throwing act with Blythe and a fire act with Sol.

Sol: He's a fire performer, but his real love is inventing things. He has a strange hobby of dumpster diving and collecting odd bits of trash because most of what he creates is made from trash. He focuses so much on invention and tinkering that he doesn't really have any other hobbies. That said, he won't ever say no to hanging out with friends or going to parties/get-togethers-- it makes him a little mopey that his friends are all such introverts!

Rosalie: (One of my other main characters.) She's relatively new to Concordia and prior to coming here she had no idea that hobbies and fun were even possibilities. She enjoys going to plays and concerts, and she likes trying new foods almost as much as Adair does because these are things she couldn't get back home. Otherwise she's teaching herself how to read Concordian through children's books and fairy tales, which she reads to her "pet" shadow. This is the shadow's favorite pastime, too.

Feren: (Adair's ex-boyfriend.) He doesn't like to do anything that's potentially work or effort, but he does enjoy learning things. He's especially fond of languages, which is rare for an Artisan because they generally don't learn them. He can be found in a library almost as often as Etri. Feren loves parties and social gatherings although not for the fun of being around people like how Sol is. Feren's more into it for the networking and weaseling his way into conversations so he feels important.

Nina: (Adair's ex-girlfriend and still close friend.) She's an arcane cook so she's often experimenting with recipes. She loves collecting rocks and seashells, so she also loves the beach and exploring and being outdoors.

I’m not sure what the other cultures do for fun since I haven’t written much about them yet, but I’ll figure that out once the stories take place in those locations. I do know that the carnival performers travel around the continent, so that’s at least some sort of entertainment.

Snow Flake’s and Memories

Rating:T Summery:Isaac's seen snow three times in his life. Twice it brought him joy. Those memories will always bring him a bittersweet sort of joy but this last time? It brougth him something completely different.

Isaac read the text and then read it again. He’d been staring on and off at his cracked phone for the last hour trying to will himself to just hit send. It wasn’t like it was a lewd text or anything. In fact compared to some of the others - one in particular that led to the cracked screen in the first place - it was fairly innocent. Still this thing between them was new and this….this felt far more intimate than anything they’d done before.  With a shaky hand Isaac forced himself to hit send and not think about the reply.

It wasn’t like Peter hadn’t offered to give him cooking lessons already. This was just him actually asking. It didn’t stop the jump in his heart when his phone chimed with a reply or the way he immediately read the reply. Of course it was a yes. Breathing out a sigh of relief Isaac quickly set up a time. He already had all the ingredients but looking up recipes made his head hurt and reading the instructions? Yeah no that only made it worse.

The next day Isaac found himself at Peter’s apartment. Face barely containing his smile as Peter opened the door. “Hey.”

“Hi.” Isaac kissed his quickly on the cheek before walking past Peter and into the kitchen. “You sure you don’t mind taking a break from your world domination plans to help me?”

“Oh I’m sure the world can wait another day.”

“Good.”

“First things first wash your hands.”

Peter watched Isaac closely. Fondly. Cooking looked good on the younger wolf and if he was able to make Isaac flustered by wiping off a spot of sauce with his finger then that was only an added bonus. As they finished the prep it started to snow and Isaac couldn’t help but to think back to the first time he saw snow.

Light white flakes floated down coating the ground. Isaac starred up wide eyed and in wonder. Everyone else around he was cheering and clapping and all he could do is focus on how pretty it was. His mother shared a smile with him and taught him how to make a snowman. After they’d gone inside and made hot chocolate.

Isaac’s first snow was nothing but good memories.

The second time Isac saw snow he was sitting by the window, swallowed whole by the overly large sweater he was currently wearing and watching it fall with a reverent sort of expression. He heard Peter walk in with groceries. Heard him put them up before Peter padded farther into the apartment. “No hello?” He teased. Isaac could imagine him crossing his arms.That smile on his lips. The one that was a borderline smirk but not quite. Not really. Not towards him.

Isaac continued to start out at the snow and wondered if he wished hard enough would his wish come true.

“Isaac?”

“Hm?”

Peter wrapped his arms around his boy and pulled him close, chin resting on Isaac’s shoulder. “You look a little cold.”

“I’m sure you’ll warm me up.” Though it lacked his normal teasing tone.

Peter inhaled his scent and held him closer. It took a while for Isaac to realize but they were moving. A small smile broke across his lips as Isaac turned in Peter’s arms to face him. “What are you doing?”

“Dancing.”

“There’s no music.”

“Swaying then.”

��There’s still no music.”

Peter sighed dramatically but smiled and kissed the top of Isaac’s head. Not always an easy feat. “The music is our hearts beating.”

“Oh.” Isaac closed his eyes and listened to their own private music. His own arms wrapping themselves around Peter’s neck. “It’s pretty.”

“It’s ours.”

“Yeah.” He agreed quietly. All theirs.

His first snow might have been filled with smiles and laughs and two people he’d never get to see again (his heart ached at the thought) but his first snow with Peter was just as good. If not better in some ways.

Isaac’s third snow was nothing like his first or second one. Now he sat by the window, swallowed whole by the overly large sweater he was currently wearing and watching it fall with a solemn expression. Any second now Peter would be back with some groceries. He’d heard him put them up before Peter would walk over to him, greeting him. “No hello?” He would teased. Isaac could picture that smile of his. The one that was a borderline smirk but not quite.

Isaac continued to start out at the snow and wondered if he wished hard enough would it come true. He closed his eyes and wished it was true. Wished for the warmth of Peter’s arms wrapped around him. Them swaying alone in the apartment again. Cooking whatever new receipt one of them finds.

The overpowering scent of sadness and stale air bring him back from the perfect world in his thoughts and memories. The slowly rotting fruit on the counter mocks him. The pictures on the walls pity him and no one dares bother him.

Isaac shutters, eyes red rimmed and cried out. There was still blood under his nails and a box he wasn’t supposed to know about hidden in the back of their shared closet.

Avenging him didn’t make the hole in his heart any smaller. Ache any less.

Isaac’s first snow was filled with smiles and laughter and so much joy it ached to think about.

This last one was filled with so much pain and sorrow it felt like he was drowning.

The possibilities are huge.

The membership site owners LOVE this because they don’t need to create nearly as much content, and they get higher conversion rates.

Their customers love this, because they get 2 memberships for the price of one.

And I haven’t even covered the best part yet… to access my friend’s basic online marketing site, every member has to register their email address to get the passcode.

This means my friend is automatically building a list of BUYERS for free. This alone is probably making him MORE money than selling the memberships to membership site owners.

Of course, my friend is very careful not to abuse the trust of his main customers, the membership site owners.

That’s why he sends out only great info to his lists, as well as promoting his customers other products to his lists, too.

For example, he gets new subscribers from Alex’s membership program, and then promotes Bob’s product to Alex’s customers, and Alex’s product to Bob’s customers. Not the membership sites, but related products.

He’s very up front about this, and his membership site owners love it because they get more sales, too.

This is a truly win, win, win idea that can be used in many different niches. And as far as I know, very few people are doing it yet.
