Snow Flake’s and Memories
Rating:T Summery:Isaac's seen snow three times in his life. Twice it brought him joy. Those memories will always bring him a bittersweet sort of joy but this last time? It brougth him something completely different.
Isaac read the text and then read it again. He’d been staring on and off at his cracked phone for the last hour trying to will himself to just hit send. It wasn’t like it was a lewd text or anything. In fact compared to some of the others - one in particular that led to the cracked screen in the first place - it was fairly innocent. Still this thing between them was new and this….this felt far more intimate than anything they’d done before. With a shaky hand Isaac forced himself to hit send and not think about the reply.
[Txt zombie 🐺] teach me how to make beef cabbage wraps?
It wasn’t like Peter hadn’t offered to give him cooking lessons already. This was just him actually asking. It didn’t stop the jump in his heart when his phone chimed with a reply or the way he immediately read the reply. Of course it was a yes. Breathing out a sigh of relief Isaac quickly set up a time. He already had all the ingredients but looking up recipes made his head hurt and reading the instructions? Yeah no that only made it worse.
The next day Isaac found himself at Peter’s apartment. Face barely containing his smile as Peter opened the door. “Hey.”
“Hi.” Isaac kissed his quickly on the cheek before walking past Peter and into the kitchen. “You sure you don’t mind taking a break from your world domination plans to help me?”
“Oh I’m sure the world can wait another day.”
“Good.”
“First things first wash your hands.”
Peter watched Isaac closely. Fondly. Cooking looked good on the younger wolf and if he was able to make Isaac flustered by wiping off a spot of sauce with his finger then that was only an added bonus. As they finished the prep it started to snow and Isaac couldn’t help but to think back to the first time he saw snow.
Light white flakes floated down coating the ground. Isaac starred up wide eyed and in wonder. Everyone else around he was cheering and clapping and all he could do is focus on how pretty it was. His mother shared a smile with him and taught him how to make a snowman. After they’d gone inside and made hot chocolate.
Isaac’s first snow was nothing but good memories.
The second time Isac saw snow he was sitting by the window, swallowed whole by the overly large sweater he was currently wearing and watching it fall with a reverent sort of expression. He heard Peter walk in with groceries. Heard him put them up before Peter padded farther into the apartment. “No hello?” He teased. Isaac could imagine him crossing his arms. That smile on his lips. The one that was a borderline smirk but not quite. Not really. Not towards him.
Isaac continued to start out at the snow and wondered if he wished hard enough would his wish come true.
“Isaac?”
“Hm?”
Peter wrapped his arms around his boy and pulled him close, chin resting on Isaac’s shoulder. “You look a little cold.”
“I’m sure you’ll warm me up.” Though it lacked his normal teasing tone.
Peter inhaled his scent and held him closer. It took a while for Isaac to realize but they were moving. A small smile broke across his lips as Isaac turned in Peter’s arms to face him. “What are you doing?”
“Dancing.”
“There’s no music.”
“Swaying then.”
“There’s still no music.”
Peter sighed dramatically but smiled and kissed the top of Isaac’s head. Not always an easy feat. “The music is our hearts beating.”
“Oh.” Isaac closed his eyes and listened to their own private music. His own arms wrapping themselves around Peter’s neck. “It’s pretty.”
“It’s ours.”
“Yeah.” He agreed quietly. All theirs.
His first snow might have been filled with smiles and laughs and two people he’d never get to see again (his heart ached at the thought) but his first snow with Peter was just as good. If not better in some ways.
Isaac’s third snow was nothing like his first or second one. Now he sat by the window, swallowed whole by the overly large sweater he was currently wearing and watching it fall with a solemn expression. Any second now Peter would be back with some groceries. He’d heard him put them up before Peter would walk over to him, greeting him. “No hello?” He would teased. Isaac could picture that smile of his. The one that was a borderline smirk but not quite.
Isaac continued to start out at the snow and wondered if he wished hard enough would it come true. He closed his eyes and wished it was true. Wished for the warmth of Peter’s arms wrapped around him. Them swaying alone in the apartment again. Cooking whatever new receipt one of them finds.
The overpowering scent of sadness and stale air bring him back from the perfect world in his thoughts and memories. The slowly rotting fruit on the counter mocks him. The pictures on the walls pity him and no one dares bother him.
Isaac shutters, eyes red rimmed and cried out. There was still blood under his nails and a box he wasn’t supposed to know about hidden in the back of their shared closet.
Avenging him didn’t make the hole in his heart any smaller. Ache any less.
Isaac’s first snow was filled with smiles and laughter and so much joy it ached to think about.
This last one was filled with so much pain and sorrow it felt like he was drowning.

WIP Wednesday: Whumptober Previews, Take 2
I still have a few more to go, but I am in the final stretch for writing my @whumptober2020 pieces! I already posted one preview of what I have so far (you can see Days 1-12 here), so here are previews for the rest of what I have written - and sneak peeks at what’s planned out but not written yet!
Whumptober starts tomorrow - we’ll see how you feel about my work this go-round! Last year, Whumptober Day 1 introduced Daniel Michaelson. This year... it starts with Danny, too.
Day 13:
“Vanni, they thought he was you.”
“I know, Ridley!” Rossi never snapped at Ridley, but here it was, and Connor forced in a hitching, shaky inhale around the tremendous, inescapable weight pressing down on him, determined to keep breathing long enough to understand. “I know they did.”
“And they fucking poisoned him and then dumped him to fucking die-”
“I know!” The two men went silent for a second, Ridley staring with shock at Rossi and Rossi glaring furious towards the window without looking back. Connor’s breath, rattling in his struggling lungs, was the only sound in the room.
Day 14:
Peter glanced over his shoulder, back towards the house. The thermometer had climbed a little more, reading 98.5 degrees Farenheit now, and Peter blinked as he shivered again, swallowing without any saliva. His mouth felt dry, and strange. Why was he shivering - how did he have goosebumps - if it was almost one hundred degrees?
As if he’d heard Peter’s thoughts, the side door opened and Micheal came out, wearing his weekend outfit of slim black slacks and a pale heathered gray t-shirt, what Madam allowed him to wear. He was carrying a glass of water with ice and a little striped straw stuck in the top. The black shock collar he was never allowed to remove - not yet, Madam said, not until Micheal learned how to be silent without needing encouragement, to her satisfaction - cut a wide band across his neck, the black box small and nearly perfectly blended in at the back.
“Peter,” He said in a low voice - not quite a whisper, but just as quiet. “I brought you a drink, I-” He looked up, squinting towards the sky. “It’s hot. Should you be out here?”
Day 15:
He drops back to the ground, groaning, eyes fluttering open and shut, before he reaches out to grip onto Ora’s arm again. He turns to look at them, and his eyes are glowing so brightly he can see the reflected light on Ora’s face, the flicker of yellow against their irises. There are things that move beneath the light in Ryan Michaelson’s eyes, and he no longer feels them pushed back under the surface of his skin.
“I’m so fucking hungry,” He whispers, and his fingernails dig into Ora’s arm until they begin to bleed and whimper, but they don’t - can’t - pull away. Not until he lets them.
They will be lost in his eyes until he decides to let them go.
Day 16:
Count to ten, Tris! One… two...
Her voice is so loud he jumps, but when he looks to the left, nothing’s there. Just the white walls, plain and featureless, white tiles that were smooth under his fingertips back when he was allowed to touch them.
Everything is cold, and the boy has been shivering for so long that his muscles ache from the constant tense-and-release, tense-and-release, struggling to keep him warm.
Day 17:
She giggles a little, then glances over her shoulder, mouths something at the cameraman. Oliver can guess what. Edit that out.
Kelly Donahue doesn’t want the episode to be aired with her giggling like a schoolgirl at a bit of idle flattery. Well. Everyone has their things they like to hide, don’t they?
She has her giggle. Oliver has a teenage boy locked in his bedroom.
Day 18:
“Your mother,” Patrick interrupted, with gentle violence, “believes that you are squandering an opportunity.”
“An-... a what-”
“We respect your decision - and your brother’s - to refuse interviews, especially at his early date.” Patrick sounded like he’d rehearsed this answer, delivered with the same smooth cadence he had during his speeches before the Board of Directors. “But, considering the effort it took us to find you-”
“The effort it took Nate to find us,” Ryan corrected, ice growing along his veins at the same time it took over his voice. “Nate. It was Nate who watched the videos, it was Nate who talked Abraham into showing him the yard, it was Nate who spent fucking night after fucking night trolling fucking satellite photos to try and find us. Don’t act like the effort came from you. It came from my brother’s goddamn fiance.”
Day 19:
“If this is a trap, I’m going to owe Gavin fifty bucks.” Vera checked and rechecked her handgun, as though it would suddenly be less loaded than it was just a few minutes before. Her jaw was set in a grim line, eyes flashing a kind of damped-down fire, embers ready to spark. Her thick black hair, showing growing hints of gray, was pulled into a tight bun at the nape of her neck, and she wore a pair of black pants and a tucked-in t-shirt, ready for the fight she was definitely expecting. “I don’t want to owe Gavin money, Isaac.”
“It’s not a trap,” Isaac replied, making his own nervous check and recheck of the table and chairs. “I don’t think it is, anyway. My instincts are saying it isn’t.”
“Your instincts-”
“My instincts have been spot-on for a decade, Vera. Just trust me on this. She let us pick the day, the time, the location… she let us give her the location with less than four hours’ notice, even. If this is a trap, she’s piss-poor at setting it.”
Day 20:
He’d been flying, and the fall had been worse than the arrow, at first.
The sudden burst of white-hot pain had stunned him, caught him mid-spin enjoying an early-morning chill, and sent him tumbling to the ground below.
He’d heard his own frantic keens of panic and fear as if from a distance, and then they’d been drowned out when he slammed into the trees, feathers flying all around him as they were ripped free by the branches he smacked into one after another on the way down.
Day 21:
"Mmhmmm. Christopher. Stanton." Nat listens for a long time, then says quietly, "No known health problems. Autistic."
Jake looks up, and Nat calmly looks back at him, while speaking into the phone. "Yes. Yes, I'm confident. He is sensitive to fluorescent lights, scared of needles, and terrified of sedation. Yeah, I realize that I just described the exact environment we’re sending him into.” Chris whimpered, and Nat’s voice went ragged, her eyes closed tightly against the sight of his face pale, sweaty, twisted with pain. “Listen. Just-... just put on the fucking papers that Christopher Stanton is fucking autistic, because that's what my goddamn rescue is - I'll sell someone else's firstborn to fucking Satan if he isn't, mark my fucking words - and we're wasting time while he gets worse!"
Day 22:
Rossi picks the glass up and just as he tilts it up to his lips, Connor rears back and up on his knees and swings one of his hands, the black leather ‘paw’ smacking into the rim of the glass and spilling it in an arc across Rossi’s suit, onto the table, soaking his cards and hitting the next person at the table right in the eyes.
“Connor, what the fuck?!” Rossi’s voice isn’t furious, not yet - he’s too shocked to get beyond the simple surprise.
Day 23:
The drugs in his system weigh him down, he is too exhausted to understand what’s happening or how to begin to fight it. His eyes keep trying to close and stay closed, and he whimpers, forcing them back open.
“Pozhaluysta…” He groans, collapsing forward against the heavy solidity of the man, the soft tailored fabric of his expensive suitjacket, the scent of clove cigarettes that clings to him like a woman’s fingers clutching tightly. “Pozhaluysta, otpusti menya…”
Day 24:
“My name is Melody,” The girl said, nearly extending her hand, but then she realized the creature’s right hand was nothing but wickedly sharp talons, and it was bound in front of him to his left. “Oh, I’m sorry. What’s your name?”
The creature blinked once, twice. Watched her, tense and maybe suspicious, and then shook his head. “No… no name.” He spoke slowly, as though words came only with difficulty but a soft little trill sounded under one voice, layered it with another. “Pet.”
Day 25:
“Wh, where, where, where-where, where am, am I-”
“Sssshhhh.” The person in the dark blue uniform presses a plastic-gloved hand to his shoulder as he tries to sit up, pushing him back down. “Hey no, you gotta stay steady, there. Don’t move.”
“Please-... please, sir, h-hurts-”
“Not sir,” The person says, gently, a bit of auburn hair falling over their forehead. “Can you see?”
“K-Kind... kind of... hurts-”
“Sssshhhh. I know. I know it does. Just hang on. Tori’s going to help me get you some paperwork going. Don’t worry, kiddo.” The person pats him, lightly, and then looks up, brown eyes scanning the hallway outside. “You’re not the first we’ve pulled through this.”
Day 26:
Calon Nie hummed to himself, tapping talons on the floor, watching the boy sit so still, as though stillness could protect him from the dangers of the world. “Good. Failed, you, to keep new eyes. Costs a life, to give something new. Killan Josta, human boy, he fail Calon Nie. He fail the life given, when eyes don’t work. Did not respect sacrifice.”
“I’m… I’m sorry,” The boy said hoarsely, curling in on himself even more, his wings instinctively curling protectively around him. “I… I don’t want anyone to d-die for me. I didn’t mean to-... I didn’t mean to fail. I, I tried to p-pray for them, to stars, to-”
“Paugh! Mysteries do not hear you.”
Day 27:
Jake answers, and on the other side of the door, the old woman stands holding a large cardboard box in her arms, her grandson present, as nearly always, at her side. He holds a large box, too - so big, in fact, that only the top half of his face is visible.
“They’re sayin’ it could be a week before we get power back,” Ruth says, with a world-weary sigh. “A full-on week. We figured we’d bring you some supplies.”
Day 28:
Ora Collins is hungry.
Day 29:
Jake is a tall man, but the emergency room always made him feel so small. Even now, part of him rehearses the scripted stories. I fell while climbing a tree. I crashed my bike. I tripped going down the stairs.
He has lies to tell today, just like he always has, but today the lies are for Chris, not himself.
He’s my brother. No, different dads, that’s all. His mom lives a few states away, I handle all his medical stuff.
Day 30:
(AKA Possession, Part 2)
Ryan and Nate take down Abraham Denner.
Day 31:
Danny is left for dead.

The Sterek List --Heads
I have a guilty pleasure in enjoying Sterek (Heads) and Steter (Tails) fanfiction, if you could not tell by the last post, it's crazy outta control like woah. I hope you enjoy this list of fics that make my day while keeping me up during all hours of the night and tossing my free daylight moments down a swirling time vortex.
...don't be like me. It's probably for the best.
--Sterek a.k.a Stiles Stilinski/ Derek Hale--
*a.k.a the inappropriate light of my life
Move A Mountain by ZainClaw (Complete: 9/9| 69,008) --Sterek/ --Biker!Derek
Stiles goes camping with his friends in New Mexico after graduation where they befriend a biker gang led by Derek: a guy whom Stiles can’t decide if he will be either relieved or devastated to never see again once their week is up.
Racing With The Wind by lowlifetheory (Complete: 3/3| 26,478) --Sterek/ --Biker!Derek
'Sure thing Scott, I'll give him a ride,' Derek practically leered. Stiles faltered, the sudden image of Derek pinning him down, his muscular torso rippling with movement. Derek's smile spread into a smirk as Stiles got closer.
'I'm not really comfortable with this particular mode of transport.' Stiles said clutching the helmet. He wondered what it was made of, how secure it was, would it save his life if he fell off?
'Don’t worry, I know how to handle her,' Derek said resting a warm palm on Stiles's shoulder, fingers squeezing slightly as he guided Stiles closer to the massive hulking black bike.
'I should hope so,' Stiles muttered glaring at the motorbike.
The Feeling That I’m Under by wearing_tearing (Complete: 20/20| 289,584) -- Sterek/ --Biker!Derek Bunnysuit/Paramedic!Stiles
Stiles is a paramedic and Derek gets into a bike accident. It’s kind of love at first sight.
Part of the Pack by JusteAmusant (Complete: 7/7| 13,035) --Sterek
Season one of Teen Wolf, seen through Sterek-colored glasses. Canon Divergence after season 1 idk there's slow burn Sterek and a puppy, and way more Derek sneaking in through Stiles' window
“He could have shifted in front of them,” Derek hisses. “That means they find out about him, and in turn find out about me.” He pauses. “What the hell is that?”
“It’s a washing machine, what the hell does it look like? It’s a puppy.”
In which Derek is a struggling Alpha, but still the Pack Dad, and oh god, does that mean Stiles is the pack mom?
(There's) Sulphur in Our Blood by WonderWolf (wip: 18/20| 178,650) --Sterek
"Harris put you on a recon mission with Derek. You. Alone with Derek. On a mission. Together,” Scott says, slowly. “Does Harris want you dead?”
“I believe so," Stiles says gravely.
(Secret Agent AU where Derek blames Stiles for his sister’s death and Stiles is pretty sure that Derek’s going to murder him. As if that weren’t enough to deal with, Stiles’ familiar keeps having public breakdowns. Oh, and there’s a mole in the agency, so there’s that too).
Prince Among Wolves by Rawren (Deshonanana) (Complete: 20/20| 101,000) --Sterek
Looking for full day/evening sitter. 2 twin boys age 4. Must have exp. w/werewolves. Must be human. No pedophiles. No teenage girls. Pay negotiable.
Pretty Human Virgin Boy Comes to the Pond- Feed Him All the Best Heads by Delta_Immortal (Complete: 8/8| 49,771) --Sterek/ --Dark!Derek
Stiles knew it was a bad idea to go into the woods, but little did he know his actions would cause the death of everyone around him. Running from the thing that killed Danny, Scott and Stiles stumble upon a pond, which happens to hold a strange man named Derek who floats around in the middle of it. Derek assures them they're safe now.
What appears to be salvation is nothing more than the start of the death of everyone Stiles cares about. The being known as Derek haunts him at every turn, unsatisfied until Stiles succumbs to Derek's whims. Stiles isn't sure if that involves sexing him or eating him, and he really doesn't want to find out.
*This had me like Holy Crap
It Was a Wednesday by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella) (Complete: 2/2| 80,119) --Sterek
What happened? Where are you? What’s that sound?” Derek jumped, having momentarily forgotten Scott was on the phone with him because Stiles had started moving. He’d stalked over to the other side of the cave, still eying Derek warily and growling, then settled protectively over a mass of clothes, leaves and animal innards. It was probably where he was sleeping. Lovely. No wonder he smelled like death. “Stiles,” Derek said, answering Scott’s question. Or, one of them, at least. “Stiles? What do you—Stiles is making that noise?” “Yes.” “Why?” “How fast do you think you can make it to the south lot of the Preserve?”
*Looking for that Stiles whump?
I'll Be With You Through The Dark by the_misfortune_teller (Complete: 61/61| 138,101) --Sterek
"Me and Scott talk about everything, about all my poor decisions.” “So I’m a poor decision?” “Probably, yes. Considering how you rudely threw me out of your apartment the other day after convincing me to kiss you and admit that I like you." ~ Set post Season 2 finale. Stiles is having a rough time at home and finds himself going to Derek for help in Scott's absence. He doesn't expect for Derek to end up turning to him for support, leading to something more than just friendship between them. Slow, slow, fluffy slow build!
*Based on the spoilers that just keep on coming, this is very likely to be canon divergent for s3!*
I Think the Problem Here is There's Nothing Wrong by wait_for_it (Complete: 1/1| 5,156) --Sterek
"Stiles wasn’t really sure what was going on, but if he had to guess, he’d say Derek Hale was losing his touch. The amount of times he’d been called out with the guy, presumably to stake out some new supernatural baddie only to have it be a false alarm, was starting to inch into the double digits."
In which Stiles and Derek are dating and everyone knows it. Except Stiles.
The One You Choose by Livinginfictions (Complete: 7/7| 13,440) --Sterek
Stiles hadn’t seen Scott in over a week, except for glances he caught during school hours.
How I Long For Yesterday by sweetbutterbliss (Complete: 1/1| 6,017) --Sterek
Stiles blinks, his throat going dry, and he moves his thumb without thinking - liking the post. He feels a surge of petty satisfaction. At least the fucker will know he knows now. He stands up, his body feeling too heavy, and he blows out the already guttering candles. He lets out a sob of frustration when the last one won't fucking blow out. But he sucks it back in and bites down on his tongue, using his thumb and forefinger instead.
He throws himself into their empty bed without undressing. He lies there repeating the words 'Derek blew me off for Isaac' over and over. He tells himself to shut up while rearranging his pillow violently, but he goes to sleep with the refrain continuing its painful loop.
And You Say You're Alone by taelynhawker (Complete: 1/1| 30,314) --Sterek
Between the kanima, the Argents, and Peter's untimely return from the dead, everything has fallen apart. Stiles and Derek try to put their lives back together once the crisis has passed. Stiles deals with the aftermath of being tortured, and the distance growing between he and Scott. Derek attempts to become a stronger alpha and keep his pack safe, and that includes Stiles.
Can't Take the Heat? by Ilovesocks_24 (Complete: 15/15| 55,425) --Sterek/ --Chef!Stiles Chef!Derek
Hi, I’m Stiles, and what I have for you today is…”
“Stop, just stop.” Grumpy Eyebrows interrupted. “That is honestly the worst looking Pasta Primavera I have ever seen. I don’t even want to eat it, it looks so bad.”
Stiles narrowed his eyes. No one insulted his creamy bacon carbonara without even trying it. And no one insulted his creamy bacon carbonara after they tried it either. “It’s actually a Creamy Bacon Carbonara, asshole,” Stiles snapped. “And for the record, it’s supposed to look like that.”
Or the one where Stiles is a new sous chef at Full Moon Steakhouse and Derek is the Gordon Ramsay of all head chefs. So of course they fall in love.
*This is one of my favorites
Love Runs Wild by DevilDoll for neptunepirate (Complete: 1/1| 9,494) --Sterek/ Neckz 'n' Throats
"You've got a hickey on the back of your neck!" A Neckz 'n Throats story.
If I Could Trade Mistakes For Sheep, Count Me Away Before You Sleep by alisaj (Complete: 1/1| 33,383) --Sterek
"Thing is, Stiles," Derek says, his voice hard and unfaltering. "I didn't sign up for you. You just hung around until we got used to you being here."
That stings. He hadn't realised how Derek feels about him. They've been getting on quite well, teaming up on little missions and bantering back and forth without malice. Stiles sometimes lets Derek crash in his room after a big fight, trying not to let on how intriguing he finds the werewolf.
"Well now we can get used to you not being here. You're a liability, Stilinski. You can't protect yourself and we always end up having to help you when we've got more important things to do. You're out of the pack."
or
The one where Derek is a terrible Alpha and Stiles ends up walking into a big pile of shit.
Teach Me How Love Goes by RoseByAnyOtherName17 (Complete: 1/1| 9,482) --Sterek
Derek asks Stiles to have sex with him. Stiles says no, because he doesn't want to get his heart broken again. Somehow it happens anyways, but really, it's his own fault. He's the one who fell in love with Derek against despite knowing how bad an idea it was.
a taste for the forbidden by demonicweirdo (Complete: 1/1| 5,982) --Sterek
Stiles narrows his eyes. “I haven’t been doing anything to you.”
“Bullshit,” Derek snaps.
The air in the room grows colder. “I swear it. The only magic I’ve used around you is to make your crops grow!” Stiles takes a step away. “How could you think that I would… You know what? Screw you, buddy. I’m sick of walking in circles around you.” His words are sharp and annoyed, and his shoulders are tense, as though he’s preparing for a fight. “You feel something for me? Wow, it must be sorcery! Because - what? I’m not good enough for your feelings, Derek?” he snarls.
Hello, Heartbreaker by astoryaboutwar (Complete: 1/1| 18,472) --Sterek
It’s a popular joke among Alphas: fuck an Omega, get heartbreak on your hands. Omegas are fragile little emotional things, needy and whiny. Stiles refuses to become that, or to believe that he’s anything like that.
Stiles and Derek have been fuckbuddies for a while when Derek loses his memories of the past three years - and them - in an accident. (Also - everyone's a werewolf, and everyone's alive.)
Bruises and Bitemarks by orphan_account (Complete: 27/27| 121,566) --Sterek
Biologically, Stiles is weak. When he presented as an omega, he knew that to be the truth but that never stopped him from running his mouth as a defense mechanism. However, it could only save him so many times before he ended up pissing off the wrong person. After he's attacked in the parking lot outside of school, Stiles realizes he can no longer protect himself with just pure wit and sarcasm. When the attack lands him in the hospital, his dad forces him to pick between two options, report the alphas who attacked him or join a kickboxing gym run by omega rights activist and alpha, Derek Hale, a man Stiles has been in love with for many years. *Now includes an extended chapter featuring Nate/Jupiter*
I know that you love me, even when I lose my head by LunaCanisLupus_22 (Complete: 13/13| 135,577) --Sterek
“We’re not mates, Cora,” he insists. “I mean look at him-“
“Ouch,” the kid says, no longer pushing that shit eating grin.
“He’s- he’s,” Derek tries, at a loss of how to explain why this can’t be possible. Why it shouldn’t be possible. Or the one where Derek gets attacked by hunters, ends up with amnesia and forgets Stiles is his mate

Lost At Sea: A List of WIP’s I am finally letting go of [ Part 2 ]
[ Part 1 ]
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Very Sincerely Yours by semaphoredrivethru
Summary: Terrified at the prospect of humiliating himself in front of the ton and completely ruining his first season with his crippling shyness, omega Stiles Stilinski does the only thing he can; he invents a sweetheart away at war. A completely fictitious and utterly gorgeous captain, a gentlemanly paragon of romance and adoration, an alpha with whom Stiles spends years "exchanging" letters.Years later, an angry, war-battered Derek Hale shows up at Stiles's door. He's no gentleman, and vehemently denies the existence of anything remotely resembling romance. He's received every last letter and has come to collect on Stiles's promises of home and marriage, no matter what.
Last Updated: 2018
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: AHHHHH, THERE’S NOTHING I LIKE MORE THAN A GOOD REGENCY BODICE RIPPER AU. HOW UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS ONE NEVER GOT FINISHED. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD START TOO, I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. AHHHHHHH SO SAD.
Sold by onlyastoryteller
Summary: The government has passed two significant acts that eliminate the rights of convicted felons. When Peter Burke learns that Neal Caffrey's Work Contract has been purchased by a private citizen, he springs into action.
Last Update: 2018
Fandom & Main Pairing: White Collar ; Baffery
Personal Notes: While this fic is amazing and it hasn’t been THAT long since it was last updated (trust me, I’ve held on to fics for over 5 years on the hope it’d get updated lmao), this fandom and pairing just doesn’t interest me anymore; mostly because The Bullshit Season really turned me off from the show.
Sypha’s Boys by ShifterCat
Summary: “Back in the tomb under Greşit, Alucard asked you about that prophecy involving him. And… you blushed.”“O-oh.” That brought her up short. “Yes. That.” Sypha glanced away, gathering herself, then looked back decisively. “‘The Hunter, the Scholar, the Sleeping Soldier: they shall travel together. They shall defeat great evil together. They shall… love together.’”Trevor blinked a few times, allowing that to sink in. Then: “Your prophecy says we’re going to fuck?”

Fandom & Main Pairing: Castlevania ; Syvorcard
Personal Notes: I mean, it says what it is on the tin - it’s just a collection of smut vignettes and after the first 5 chapters the sex kinda just gets old and I start to crave actual plot. That isn’t to say it’s not well written and I didn’t enjoy it but..you know *hand waves*

Summary: In which Barry Allen is the Starling City Police Department's forensics assistant. Yes, Starling.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: The Flash/Arrow ; Flarrow
Personal Notes: I love love love love LOVE this fic. I love it SO MUCH and it physically PAINS ME to let it go but it’s time. Still, at 25 hefty chapters, it’s not really a bad deal to put your time into it.
Take My Body by paraselenewoman
Summary: Derek and Jordan are Alphas. Stiles is their newly obtained omega. Everything is pretty terrifying. If given the chance, though, Stiles probably wouldn't change a thing.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Derek x Stiles x Parish
Personal Notes: ......okay listen. I never said I was proud of all of my fic reading choices okay BUT SOMETIMES. SOMETIMES A BITCH JUST NEEDS SOME GOOD OLD FASHIONED A/B/O Dom/sub DYNAMICS IN THEIR LIFE OKAY. YOU CAN’T SHAME ME - but I am a little embarrassed to admit it so let’s head to the next fic.
That Which Binds Them by Flarrow
Summary: Everyone is born with a mark shared by their soulmate, located somewhere around their shoulder blade. They say the mark burns upon meeting one's soulmate. Oliver knows what his is, but doesn't believe in the system. Barry doesn't know what his looks like, but he wants it to be a surprise.Set in The Flash and Arrow universes, but AU in the sense that I'm not sticking to the storyline laid out in either series, though I may borrow elements when they work for the story. Barry and Oliver are still The Flash and Arrow. Idea of the mark's location was inspired by the brand Oliver received in “The Fallen.”
Last Update: 2016
Fandom & Main Pairing: The Flash/Arrow ; Flarrow
Personal Notes: I read this a while back but I do remember it being a really good story. At 18 chapters, I didn’t feel like giving it the full re-read treatment since I’m currently on a role but I DID take the liberty of reading the very last chapter and I can say you’ll leave this fic satisfied if you do read it, even though it’s unfinished.
Steve Rogers and the Tri-Wizard Tournament by gryffindor17
Summary: There’s not a person who walks the halls of Hogwarts who doesn’t know Steve Rogers: the boy with the righteous streak, hot temper, and massive crush on the Romanian Longhorns’ star Chaser, Bucky Barnes. But Bucky exists to Steve only on the front page of The Daily Prophet. He has long since resigned himself to admiring from afar, catching games when he can or otherwise following Barnes’s crusade against injustice through printed page.Until the man himself walks into the Great Hall on the first night of their Seventh Year.Bucky’s life outside of the spotlight is hardly worthy of a footnote, never mind a headline, but no one wants to read about Bucky Barnes being found face-down and fast asleep between the shelves of Durmstrang’s impressive library. Between his studies and the Quidditch Finals looming around the corner, the last thing Bucky needs is something like the Tri-Wizard Tournament. He knows Headmaster Pierce is expecting him to volunteer, but all Bucky really wants is to pass his N.E.W.T.S. and maybe twist The Minister’s arm into passing the bill about guaranteed pay for House Elves. That is until he spots Merlin’s gift to man sitting at the Gryffindor table. Then things get complicated.
Last Update: 2016
Fandom & Main Pairing: Captain America (MCU) ; Stucky
Personal Notes: It’s rare that I actually enjoy Hogwarts AU’s and I’ve kinda dropped out of the Captain American fandom so, while this IS really well done, I’m just not interested in it anymore.
Part Of Your World by Jenetica
Summary: Derek's a werewolf. Stiles is a merman. They're not supposed to work.Luckily, they're both determined to prove that particular fact false.Sequel to "Sea Foam and Sunshine."

Knot Your Playmate by Halzbarry
Summary: He quickly closed his laptop and laid back on his bed. Somehow he’d convinced himself to not only sign up for an online ABO hookup website, but to also meet up with not one, but two alphas to potentially sleep with and get him through his heat. AU where Stiles is an omega, and has to sign up for an online ABO dating website to find an alpha to bring him through his heat, and possibly be a match so he doesn't flunk out of high school and get sent to remedial school because of Harris. What he doesn't expect is to find two mated alphas looking for an omega, and for feelings to start getting involved. Notice: Fic is on indefinite hiatus and is no longer being worked on.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Derek x Stiles x Parish
Personal Notes: .......LISTEN. IT’s GOOD OKAY????
Last To Know by Never_Says_Die
Summary: Kink meme fill in which every werewolf and shapeshifter in Beacon Hills is aware that Stiles is pregnant before he is. And apparently the first baby!werewolf being born into the pack (their Alpha's, no less) is a big freakin' deal and excuse enough for everyone to lose their damn minds. When Stiles figures out why everyone's been acting so weird around him, he's not amused.
Last Update: 2013
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: This one is basically finished, like, it’s 21 of 22 chapters but the 22nd chapter would have mostly been just putting a bow on it, it’s already wrapped you know? It’s a really good fic I really love it, I should honestly just reblog it in it’s own right but I’ve already gone through the trouble of formating it so fuck it.
Lonely Road by CranApplePye

Derek must decide whether he can overcome a lifetime of betrayal enough to trust in someone again, and what he's willing to sacrifice if he is. And Scott and Allison must decide what it means to stand by your friends, and what price they are each willing to pay to do what is right.

Last Update: 2017
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Stisaac
Personal Notes: Another sad goodbye, there has never been enough Stisaac fic in this fandom for me so seeing what few good fics there were go unfinished is particularly bitter to me.

Now that she’s back though … maybe he’s got a shot? A Teen Wolf AU in which the reader has always been so close to Stiles and yet so far.

A/N: guess who got enough time away from their family to edit!! this girl!! anyway i know i ended the last part off with Angst so i wanted to give you guys something a little less sad. happy holidays guys!! 💕
You weren’t sure how long you’d been driving around Beacon Hills and drinking far too much coffee while you did, but when the empty fuel tank warning lit up you had a feeling you had to stop sometime soon. Luckily, you were close enough to the Hales to make a U-turn and stop at the loft. You dashed up the stairs and started banging on the door, waiting for someone to answer.
When they did, they had to dodge your closed fist. “Woah, Jesus. That was really close to my face,” Isaac complained. He looked tired and confused but that melted away when he saw the tears streaked down your face. “Hey, what’s wrong? You alright?”
You stepped past him and into the loft, taking deep breaths as you ran shaky hands through your hair. You were pacing while you tried to calm down. “Stiles slept with Malia,” you said after a minute. No reason to sugarcoat it.
“I’ll kill him.” Isaac’s steely resolve as he spoke made you laugh, which only served to make him more concerned as you walked over and pulled him into a hug. “No, Y/N, I’m not joking. He’s a dead man. Seriously. Say the word and I’ll-”
You didn’t see Cora come in, but you heard her grumpy voice as she asked, “What the hell are you two doing?”
When you looked up, you found her in the pajamas that you’d loaned her when she first came to stay with you. The longer you were here, the more the Hales chipped away at your anger. “I-”
“Stiles cheated on her,” Isaac interrupted, still clearly annoyed.
Cora didn’t look tired anymore; in that instant, she looked furious. “I’ll kill him. Isaac, come on, I-”
“No, okay?” you interrupted. “I love you guys but, seriously, what is with you and killing Stiles?”
Isaac started sputtering an explanation about how he was just looking out for you and Cora rolled her eyes and mumbled something to the effect of’ if he wasn’t such a dumbass then she wouldn’t have to threaten him so much’ when you heard Derek. It made you cut your laugh short.
“Why is it that every time I wake up in the middle of the night, the three of you are always involved?” Derek asked, walking slowly into the living room.
“Because Y/N is having a personal crisis,” Isaac explained, looking tired again.
Derek raised an eyebrow and you held out a hand to placate him. “It’s not a personal crisis,” you said. “It’s just-”
“I’m gonna kill Stilinski,” he mumbled, rubbing his temples.
“No!” you whined. You heard laughter behind you and turned to find Isaac and Cora hiding behind their hands. Derek was smiling when you faced him again. It made you laugh and hold your head in your hands.
“So are you going to tell us what happened or should I just make up a bed?” Cora asked after a few moments.
“Uh, honestly, I don’t know what happened. It happened when they were at Eichen House,” you started. “He wouldn't have told me if she didn’t literally try to sleep with me while-”
“Wait, what?” Isaac asked.
“This is a little out of my league,” Derek said before you could explain. “I’ll get started on that bed while you guys ... sort this out.”
You squeezed his shoulder on his way out before settling down on the couch with Isaac and Cora. You told them about everything, pouring your heart out about every Stiles Stilinski interaction you’d had since you met.
--
Despite spending all your time at the loft over the past week or so and helping them pack, you still didn’t think they’d go through with their plan to take time off in South America. Even as you stood at the back of the group as everyone said their goodbyes and Derek loaded up the car, you hoped they’d change their minds.
Scott had already said his goodbyes and promised them their spots in the pack when they came back. Lydia was surprisingly upset as she said goodbye, you guessed all that time spent tutoring Cora amounted to a pretty strong friendship. Stiles hugged both of them goodbye. And then it was your turn, and there was no getting out of it.
“So you guys are really going?” you asked. You could hear the tears in your voice and you knew they could too.
Cora nodded, still uncomfortable about talking about her feelings. “Peter said I can’t talk to Malia and I can’t do that if I stay here. She’s my family. So I need to take some time until she’s ready to be mine.”
You nodded. “Yeah, that, uh- that makes sense. And Isaac’s always wanted to travel so …” you gave him a small smile before turning back to Cora. “You’ll take care of him for me, okay?”
Cora looked like she was about to say something but decided against it. Instead, she pulled you into an unexpectedly tight hug. “Thank you. For helping me and making me feel … normal again.”
You were about to tell her that you should be thanking her when a pair of long, lanky arms wrapped around the two of you. “Isaac, what are you doing?” you laughed.
“It’s a group hug,” he said. “And you better enjoy it because it’s the only one you’re getting.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m enjoying it! Shut up,” you teased. Before you knew it, the three of you were pulling away, but you held onto their hands as you exchanged some heavy looks. “I love you guys. Be safe, okay?”
Isaac smiled and squeezed your hand. “We love you, too.”
You gave them one last smile before turning and taking a deep breath. Your eyes fell on a very sad looking Derek Hale. You nudged his arm as you made your way over. “You’re looking more mopey than usual,” you said with a small smile. “Does that mean you’re going to miss me?”
He laughed and shook his head. “As hard as it may be to believe … yeah. I am.”
“Wait, seriously?” you asked. You weren’t surprised that he’d miss you, but you were surprised he admitted it. “Derek, that’s so sweet.”
“Yeah, well it’s not going to be so sweet if you throw another party in my loft,” he said, voice getting a little tenser.
“Come on, that wasn’t even my party!” You shoved him in the arm. “You can’t still be mad about that.”
“Do you have any idea how badly body paint stains flooring?” he asked, ignoring your shove. “Besides, you were there and that’s enough to-”
“So were about a hundred other kids. Including these dummies and Cora and Isaac, in case you forgot.” You pointed a finger at the group and Derek laughed again. It made you ease up. You bumped his arm lightly with your elbow. “I’m gonna miss you, too, by the way. You’re like the big brother I never had.”
“Hey!” you heard Scott whine and waved him off.
“Thanks,” he smiled. “It means a lot.”
Despite your better judgment telling you not to, you pulled him into a hug. When you made it clear that you weren’t letting go until he hugged you back, he put an unsure arm around your shoulders.
“There,” you said as you pulled away. “I don’t know why it’s so hard for you Hales to admit you like being hugged.”
“Did you ever think maybe it’s because we don’t like being hugged?” he asked.
“No, that’s not it,” you said very seriously. You broke into a smile. “Now get out of here before I do something stupid like go with you.”
---
Christmas was one of your favorite holidays, but it was hard to get into the celebrating mood when two of your best friends were in another country, one of them was dead, and another was dating the girl that he’d sworn he didn’t have feelings for. And to make you even more annoyed, Scott and Kira were being adorable and awkward.
When she bumped into him under the mistletoe and blushed before a quick peck on the lips, you rolled your eyes and downed whatever was left of your drink. They were so sweet together, but they didn’t know how to admit their feelings and it was driving you insane.
“Woah, easy there, sweetheart,” Lydia teased next to you. “People might think you’re not enjoying the holiday festivities.”
You pulled a face at her and she laughed before pulling you into a hug. The new angle gave you a clear view of Malia trying to figure out where she wanted to hang one of the decorations you’d made as a kid. You knew your anger towards her was unfair - and you did, grudgingly, like her - but it added to the list of reasons why you didn’t want to be here.
“I’m going to get something to drink,” you said and untangled yourself from Lydia so you could get to your feet. You turned around to ask her something as you walked, but the words fell short when you bumped into someone. “I’m so sorry, I-”
Stiles smiled down at you, seeming a little embarrassed. “Yeah, no worries. I wasn’t looking where I was going so …”
This was the closest you’d been to each other since that night. Was he blushing? Were you?
“Right. Well, anyway,” you said slowly as you started moving around him. You stopped when you heard Malia start talking.
“Well, aren’t you guys gonna kiss?” she asked. She must have picked up on your shock and horror because she pointed to the ceiling above you. “Mistletoe. Scott and Kira had to do it.”
“Uh, that’s different,” Stiles said awkwardly, holding out a hand to make his point.
“How?” she asked as she folded her hands over her chest.
“Because Scott isn’t dating someone,” you said. Seriously, you got that she was a coyote for like a decade, but hadn’t she seen a single Christmas movie since being human again?
“But Stiles is-” Malia started.
“Malia, just drop it, okay?” Stiles said behind you. “This doesn’t have to be a big-”
It was hard not to notice everyone staring at you. “Fine, you know what?” you sighed, cutting Stiles off. You turned to face him and placed your hands on either side of his face before reaching up and kissing him. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t make you feel anything, but it did soften your anger slightly. “There. Now I’m gonna go get something to drink.”
You pulled your hands back to your sides and rushed off to the kitchen to gather yourself. So what if you still had feelings for Stiles? He was dating Malia and he seemed genuinely happy for the first time since he was eight. There was nothing for you to do except to just get over-
“Hey.” You felt Lydia put a hand on the small of your back while you were digging in the fridge. “You wanna get out of here for a little while? We’re out of cranberries so I thought we could do a grocery run. Kira’s already in the car.”
“Yeah,” you said softly. “Yeah, that would be great.”
The two of you walked out hand in hand while you avoided eye contact and Lydia told everyone where you were going. The drive was quiet and you just focused on not being such a headcase, but it was easier once the three of you were walking around the grocery store.
“-And it’s not like I’m mad at him for being happy,” you continued, “It’s just that he didn’t tell me about her and then insisted there was nothing going on and now-”
“Is this how it felt when Allison and I talked about Scott and Jackson?” Lydia interrupted. She gave you a teasing smile when you pushed her arm.
“I mean, I get all that - I do,” Kira started. “But can’t you just talk to him about it? If it bothers you so much.”
“Okay, no. I couldn’t do that because I had literally just watched another one of my friends die. I was upset and he was still recovering from being possessed,” you said. A toddler looked at you and you smiled and turned around quickly. “I thought we were just taking a break until the time was right.”
“But isn’t there always something wrong? With the timing, I mean,” Kira asked.
“Well … yeah,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Then doesn’t that mean that you should’ve talked to him anyway?”
“Yeah, I know that now! But it doesn’t change anything.” You shook your head. “I’ve been in love with Stiles basically since I realized what love was. But we don’t talk about it. Ever. And now I can’t just upend his happiness because of how I feel. That’s not how we do things.”
“Oh, uh-” Kira looked over at Lydia and Lydia shrugged in response. “Okay.”
You sighed and grabbed another bag of chips for the movie night you guys had planned. “I’m sorry. I know I sound crazy. It’s just- Cora and Isaac are gone and they’re usually the ones that talk me through the crazy. And if they’re not around, then it’s Allison. And Allison is …” you broke off and took a breath. “Anyway, I just- I appreciate you listening to me.”
“It’s what friends are for,” Lydia said with a small smile. “Now, do you think we need more eggnog?”
“Oh, yeah. Definitely,” Kira smiled. She bumped your arm before going off to find more supplies.
Before you knew it, you were alone in the junk food aisle, staring at a pack of Reese’s cups and reaching up to where your necklace used to hang around your neck. The movement was so instinctive that you didn’t realize you were reaching for Stiles’ necklace until your hand got to where the ring should have been and found nothing but ugly Christmas sweater.

Parent Names:
Diane Willott (Mother): Diane regularly encouraged her daughter to run free. Whether it was literally as a hyena, or her spirit in general. Both of her parents were avid adopters of the hippy counter culture movement and believed in self-teaching. They often let her roam in and out of the house, believing she’d teach herself what she needed. This led her to be very independent, but also struggle majorly with school and education in general.
Liam Willott (Father): Liam introduced her to the members of their pack, relying on them to help teach his daughter what to do and where to go. Both of her parents were avid adopters of the hippy counter culture movement and believed in self-teaching. They often let her roam in and out of the house, believing she’d teach herself what she needed. This led her to be very independent, but also struggle majorly with school and education in general.
Sibling Names:
None
Children Names:
Chloë Ava Willott-Kohen (Daughter): Up until the moment that Juliette held Chloë in her arms, she thought she was going to be a horrible mother. Maybe she’d run off like so many Hyena moms or hate her for limiting her choices, but one look and the universe felt like it was telling her this was right. All her choices up to that point were to lead her to being Chloë’s mom. She also saved her and Eli’s relationship and gave them something to fight for.
Wyatt Stone Willott-Kohen (Son): She was able to enjoy her pregnancy with Wyatt a lot more. Her and Eli got stronger everyday and it felt as though she was genuinely facing each day with a partner who was excited for their future. Wyatt came out very healthy and is gurgling 18 month old. She recently caught Eli holding Wyatt while he was shifted. There was no concern or confusion on his face; in fact he looked happy. She’s terrified of what this may mean for them, and has made no move to confront him over what she saw.
Romantic Connections:
Eli Kohen (Boyfriend): Juliette and Eli met about 4 years ago after they flirted with one another at Anonymous. Juliette had never met anyone she clicked with quite like Eli and was fascinated with his human ways. Then Juliette became pregnant after a few months of dating and was terrified. Her hyena felt trapped and it took everything to make herself stay. Eli seemed less than excited when she announced it. He refused to rush their new relationship or consider marrying Juliette just because she was pregnant. It felt like they lost all the sparks that made their relationship what it was. He offered for Juliette to move in with him and they continued dating with the intentions of eventually getting married. He became cold and aloof, especially in the final few months of the pregnancy and she was ready to bolt. She thought to hell with him and whatever family he wanted. Then she held Chloë, and it became her goal to give Chloë the family she deserved. Their relationship was even rockier after Chloë’s birth, but their daughter did bring them closer together and they seemed to get their spark back and it felt like love. Trying again, Eli and Juliette started actively dating again and getting serious, when she found out that she was pregnant again. This time their relationship grew along with Wyatt and they’ve never been in a better place. Juliette knows he is the one and would even consider marrying him and have more little ones, however she’s concerned once Eli finds out the truth that he wouldn’t want more kids. Recently Juliette saw him playing with Wyatt while he was shifted. There was no fear or horror on his face, but he definitely knew about the hyenas, and now he knows that she knows that he knows. She’s avoided talking to him about it, over fear of the life they built together falling apart.
Platonic Connections:
Simone Campbell (Friend): Simone is one of the few humans that Juliette has met outside of her work. She’s a waitress at Anonymous and after talking for a bit they seemed to click. She’s taken her around some of the trails she knows and showed her the best camping spots in and out of the city.
Kylo ‘Nada’ Rajui (Friend): Nada is Raja’s fiancee and a good friend of Eli’s. She knows he judges her for not telling Eli the truth about what she is, but is glad he doesn’t feel the need to rub it in her face constantly. They will often do a double date night with the four of them when they need to get away from the kids and the stress of pack life.
Raja Lankala (Best Friend): Raja is Juliette’s best friend and closest confidante. Juliette doesn’t remember exactly how their friendship started but she is grateful to have Raja in her life. Whatever Juliette needs, Raja can deliver without her having to ask whether it’s a random trip to the mall, a glass of wine while the kids play in the background or a quick run while shifted.
Micah Toll (Good Friend): Wyatt and Micah’s son, Noah are in the same Mommy & Baby Yoga class. Juliette was hesitant of having another supernatural in her class but the two bonded over tummy time and supernatural struggles of random shifters.
Chris Bialar (Understanding): Juliette usually contacts either Chris, Amaria or Greer when she is working the night shifts alone. She ensures them that the park will be shut down in order for their clan to shift and roam freely for a few hours.
Issac Baker (Understanding): Juliette usually contacts either Isaac, Geri or Peter when she is working the night shifts alone. She ensures them that the park will be shut down in order for their clan to shift and roam freely for a few hours.
Ray Hamelin (Understanding): Nada ensured that the rats knew about the local Wolf and Cat clans roaming in their parks. Juliette went above and beyond to ensure that the rats knew that the parks were marked as ‘no fly’ zones on those specific nights. Rayner was understanding and a pleasure to work with.
Hostile Connections:
Russel Jordan (Annoyance): Russel was Eli’s best friend from before Juliette and Eli became a couple. He has been giving her hell for not telling Eli about her and their children being supernaturals. Juliette has always been non-confrontational and doesn’t know how to strike up said conversation with Eli or how to ask for help. Lately, Juliette has been wondering if Russel may have already spilled the beans.
Pets:
Max (German Shepherd): Max is Eli’s dog and Eli has owned him for about 9 years now. Old Max is great around the kids but they are unsure how long Max has before he dies. The sooner he goes the better, he’s too much of a temptation, especially for the kids.

April 2017
This is a compilation of fics that I've read/re-read over the past month. Faves get a star ( ★ ). There is also a separate fic rec page for my favorites here and a fic rec sorter here, if you'd like to check those out. :)
MONTH: April, 2017 | (older lists)
▶▶ A Neutrino Walks Through a Bar by Moku Teen And Up | 45,261w Stiles had become the most popular matchmaker of Beacon Hills in less than a year. And he really didn't know how that had happened.
▶▶ A Not So Easy Arrangement by hazelandglasz Explicit | 5,314w AU where Derek's still the Alpha, and Erica and Boyd aren't dead. Stiles and Derek have to fake-date because of werewolf reasons, but it shouldn't be too hard because they're already having sex together? And they're great friends? Shouldn't be too hard, Stile thinks, but he's been pining away, and he was actually gonna ask out Derek for real, because he kinda loves him, but now he just feels weird. And he's still finding ways to fall in love with Derek.
▶▶ accidentally? by bibliosexual Mature | 3,683w BOSS: "know why I called you in here?" ME: "because I accidentally sent you a dick pic" BOSS [stops pouring 2 glasses of wine]: "accidentally?" yup. Or, in which Derek receives a surprising email one morning.
▶▶ all stories deserve an end by bleep0bleep Teen And Up | 2,351w No one hardly ever comes up to this area of the forest, especially with the rumors of the "mad wizard." Stiles encourages the rumor, because it means people leave him alone. It's a good, solitary existence as long as Stiles pretends the aching loneliness in his heart isn't there.
▶▶ anything, anything by drunktuesdays Explicit | 5,242w Prompt: Stiles wakes up in Derek's bed in a world where they’re married now, and Derek keeps leaving the room every time he tries to have a conversation about how this happened, since they weren't even dating.
▶▶ Bones Straining Under the Weight by weathervaanes ★ Explicit | 15,645w One of Stiles' favorite things about life is Derek Hale's food blog. He never expects to meet the man in person.
▶▶ But, Doctor! by stilinskisparkles ★ Mature | 30,269w "We had to splint a girl's leg in a ditch," Scott says excitedly. "Bro, you sound way too happy about that," Stiles complains, opening up his bag and pulling out a Twinkie. Derek removes it from his hand silently and replaces it with an apple. Stiles scowls at him for a second then bites into it, regardless. Derek sits back and lets the group discuss the merits of dramatic lifesaving feats for winning over the ladies. Scott is convinced it'll help impress Allison; Isaac thinks Scott’s a loser. Stiles— Stiles is falling asleep on Derek's shoulder.

▶▶ I Call You Names Because I Love You by tylerfucklin (Deshonanana) Mature | 13,025w Years of touring with Stiles would never have prepared Derek for the day his beloved techie fell in love with someone else.
▶▶ I Do Do You? by Captain_Loki ★ Explicit | 6,540w Stiles and Derek wake up hung over and married in a hotel room in Las Vegas. It wouldn't be so bad if the year before their relationship hadn't fallen apart.
▶▶ Misguided Ghosts by Nina_shaffer N/A | 13,645w Stiles was hoping that his summer before his senior year would be uneventful but no the supernatural hierarchies can't leave Beacon Hills alone, can they? Stiles gets lead into the woods by a ghost wolf but what's the most a ghost can do, a lot apparently because here he is, 18-year-old Stiles, in the friggin past. What's the first rule of time travel? Don't change the past. Stiles never was one to follow the rules.

▶▶ Not An Order by LadyDrace Teen And Up | 2,359w Prince Stiles of Beacon is about to get engaged to the princess of Reyes. Derek is determined to be supportive. Maybe a little too determined.
▶▶ Once Again, In a Little While by adeepeningdig General | 4,148w Parrish is holding the infant like a fullback carrying the football, tight and close to his body, as if he's afraid someone's going to strip it away from him at any moment. "Sir," he whispers, "this baby is running hot." "So call the paramedics, get Sally on the line. For heaven's sake, Parrish, this baby needs a hospital, not the sheriff" The baby is hot to the touch but his pale eyes, when they blink open, are clear and he's not flushed like a feverish infant would be. "No," Parrish hisses, "I mean this baby is running hot. I don't think he's human." John looks at the priest, still standing in the aisle, hunched in concern. He looks at the baby in his duck onesie and little yellow hat. "Oh, fuck," he says.
▶▶ Possibili(tea) by dragon_temeraire Teen And Up | 1,096w Stiles might have a crush on his co-worker, who always brews him amazing tea.
▶▶ Put Down in Words by paintedrecs ★ Mature | 203,777w When Stiles signed up for Dr. Hale's intro to history class, he had two goals: knock out the credits his advisor was bugging him to complete before he graduated, and spend a few hours a week daydreaming about his sexy professor's salt and pepper beard. Derek, a few months away from turning forty and not sure when his life had started feeling so damn lonely, had never encountered someone like Stiles before. Bright-eyed, sharp-tongued, determined to throw Derek's carefully cultivated world into disarray... and absolutely the last person Derek should be falling in love with.
▶▶ Satisfactory Compromises by TroubleIWant ★ Mature | 17,727w Stiles is basically doing fine. He's surviving, anyways. So what if it's a struggle to get out of bed most days? Back in high school, everything about the supernatural had seemed edgy and romantic and exhilarating, but after seeing everything he has, wanting to go back to ignorance is only natural. Only then Derek comes back to Beacon Hills and says he's in love with him, and everything changes. For the worse.
▶▶ Shake my ash to the wind by rufflefeather Explicit | 4,308w Kissing Stiles is like a breeze through an open window that chases away a smell of fire that never leaves. The first time he tastes surprised and says, Holy shit while his fingers find lips that probably sting a little from Derek's stubble. It makes Derek laugh and Stiles' eyes go wide and pleased as if that's a bigger surprise than the kiss.
▶▶ Some Strings Attached by TroubleIWant N/A | 3,324w Prompt: I just saw you go upstairs with someone else and I know we're only fuck buddies but I’m gonna go punch them in the face.
▶▶ something just like this by allhalethekings General | 10,889w "Hey, did Peter talk to you yet about your new song?" He scrunches his forehead, fingers twitching towards the laptop subconsciously. "No? Why should he? I already told him it shouldn't be on the market." Cora snorts. "It's cute you thought that would work. He already spoke to Jackson Whittemore about it." Derek's stomach sinks. This song is private and to find out that it might be in the hands of someone like Jackson Whittemore? Jackson fucking Whittemore? His contempt for them must have shown on his face because Cora smirks. She's a bitch like that. "Stiles wants that song so Peter already set up a meeting. Have fun!" What the actual fuck. "What the fuck is a Stiles?" Derek asks helplessly.
▶▶ The Gentleman And The Fox by bleep0bleep, Inkforwords Explicit | 15,707w Derek doesn't expect much from his arranged marriage. When his inattentive husband, Lord Stiles Stilinski, tells him he's free to look for a lover, he doesn't know where to start, until a dashing bandit named the Red Fox catches his eye.
▶▶ The One Where They Adopt a Selkie by mikkimouse ★ Teen And Up | 7,737w "That's a kid," Stiles said. Derek growled. "It's a selkie." "It's a selkie kid," Stiles pointed out, because really, they did not need to be arguing semantics right now. "Do selkies just go around leaving their kids sleeping in caves on the beach?"
▶▶ The Payoff Pitch by Leslie_Knope ★ Explicit | 83,974w Derek is on the cusp of his second season with the LA Dodgers, and as the reigning runner-up Rookie of the Year, the pressure’s on him to become the team's star pitcher and lead them to the playoffs for the first time in five years. He's trying to deal with the burden of expectations and really has zero desire to spend any extra time or energy on anything that isn't baseball. But then he meets Stiles.
▶▶ The Second Coming (of Werewolf Jesus) by lupinus, uraneia [Note: Restricted. Now Stiles is a seventeen-year-old pregnant dude and he and Derek have to figure their shit out, because in nine months they are going to be tied together for the rest of their lives.
▶▶ This Space Is For You by matildajones Teen And Up | 3,908w Derek is a lonely, angry man, living in the middle of nowhere.

▶▶ Untitled Tumblr Ficlet by bibliosexxual Teen And Up | 1,721w Derek has played host to Stiles a number of times, usually when Stiles has had too many beers after poker night, but he’s never let Stiles stay over for more than one night. Not that Stiles has ever asked. This ends up being a lot more than one night.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #183 - The Fault in Our Stars
Spoilers Below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: Yes.
Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: Yes. #297
Format: Blu-ray
1) This film has a strikingly strong voice throughout.
Hazel: “I believe we have a choice in this world about how we tell sad stories.”
John Green’s original novel similarly has an incredible voice throughout, as it is narrated by Hazel who is always consistent and clear about who she is as a character. This film works with that character/narrative style well, allowing Hazel to be as strong as she is in the book throughout different narrative devices.
2) Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace.
Hazel is the voice of this film, much as she is in the novel (in that case a little more literally). To start, Hazel is exceptionally honest. She is not stepping on egg shells but she’s also not being a jackass. Woodley is able to play Hazel’s jaded personality in an empathetic and relatable way. Throughout the film Woodley is nothing short of excellent with the ability to be funny, heartbreaking, vulnerable, angry, loving, and whatever else the story/character needs her to be. It is a phenomenal performance from a great actress and I think one of her best. This film needed a strong Hazel and I don’t think they could’ve cast a better one.
3) Remember how I said this film is strikingly honest?
Hazel: “The only thing worse than biting it from cancer is having a kid bite it from cancer.”
4) Angel Elgort as Augustus Waters.
Elgort is able to take a character who could’ve easily been kind of a creepy guy (a guy who works really hard to get with a girl who says no) and makes him wonderfully charming. Augustus could also easily have been a one dimensional pretentious boy toy. But author Green was able to make him more than that in the novel and Elgort is able to do the same in his performance. He infuses Augustus with a crazy amount honesty and heart, while also being able to play his fear and flaws (namely that of oblivion) in a way which makes him human.
5) A key aspect to this film is not only making sure Hazel and Augustus are strong on their own, but also that they have strong chemistry with each other. The key thing is that you are able to see why they’re friends first. There’s this immediate trust, shared sense of interest, shared sense of humor, and an immediate investment they have in each other. Also Woodley and Elgort are just GOOD together, because of whatever the x factor is that results in sexual chemistry.
6) Augustus’ whole thing with the cigarettes is REALLY extra. I kinda dig it.
Augustus [about why he uses cigarettes but doesn’t lit them]: “It's a metaphor, see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don't give it the power to do its killing. A metaphor.”
7) I’m probably going to talk a few times about how wonderfully honest this film is. There is no tiptoeing around cancer, it’s not glorified or romanticized or traumatized (it’s already pretty freaking traumatic). It just is what it is and these kids know what it is.
Hazel [about Augustus getting his driver’s license even though he sucks]: “Cancer perk.”
Augustus: “Total cancer perk.”
8) This is SUCH an important distinction.
Augustus [after he asks Hazel her story and he gets her cancer story]: “No, not your cancer story. Your real story.”
Knowing from first hand experience how easy it is to let cancer define your life, I think it’s important to make sure cancer does NOT define you. That when someone asks you about your story, your mind doesn’t immediately go to cancer. I love that the filmmakers and author John Green included this moment.
9) Laura Dern is remarkably strong as Hazel’s Mom. She is able to be positive, honest, but still plays the conflict of being a parent to a kid with cancer in every scene. It’s a great performance from the veteran actress and I think her relationship with Woodley comes through wonderfully. There’s an honest mother and daughter relationship there. They clearly love each other and are able to joke around with each other, even if they’re not being fully honest (which is how most parent/child relationships are). But when they are honest with each other, it’s a wonderful honesty.
10) Nat Wolff as Isaac.
Wolff (who rose to fame early on with “The Naked Brothers Band”) does a fine job in the supporting role. He fits nicely with Elgort and Woodley, feeling like an honest friend as opposed to a third wheel. His sadness and heartache comes through well, he’s able to be surprisingly funny at times, and it’s just a nice addition to the film.
11) Okay, so when I saw this in theaters I just KNEW who had read the book. And you wanted to know how I knew? Because they started crying when Augustus and Isaac were playing video games. That’s it. NOTHING SAD HAD HAPPENED YET! But still from the back of the theater all I could hear was:
12) I geek out whenever they show the “Buffy” scene in this movie. Because it’s a Fox film, so they use things Fox owns like “Buffy” and Aliens instead of like V for Vendetta from the book (although a poster for the film does appear in Augustus’ bedroom). And there’s a parallel: the scene they’re watching in “Buffy” is one of great intimacy for eventual earth shattering heartache.
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
13) This is sweet.
Augustus [after saying okay with Hazel a few times]: “Perhaps, ‘okay,’ will be our, ‘always.’”
Hazel: “Okay.”
(GIF originally posted by @oliversqueen)
14) This film plays remarkably well with visuals. There’s a lot of texting and email correspondence between characters which end up being important to the plot. This could’ve been boring but they use a nice doodle visual AND phantom images to keep our interest. It’s a nice touch.
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
15) Oh Gus, look at you being all poetic. Subtle.
Augustus [at a piece of public art of a giant skeleton]: “They’re using a skeleton as a playground. Think about it.”
16)
Hazel [after a great day with Augustus]: “And then this happened.”
[Hazel wakes up in the middle of the night because she can’t breathe.]
Can I just say, from personal experience, cancer sucks. It fucking sucks. It seems like someone is doing well, that they’ve reclaimed some semblance of normalcy. Then cancer shows up to beat you down again. Fuck cancer. Cancer can go fucking die in a pit.
17) Well, this is heartbreaking.
Hazel’s Mom [in a flashback to when Hazel was 13 and dying]: “I’m not going to be a mom anymore.”
This is very key to Hazel’s primary conflict in the film, but more on that later.
18) A film is a story told in cuts.
Augustus: “Well, I demand to see this swing set of tears.”
[Immediately cut to Augustus and Hazel sitting on said swing set.]
19) This is very true of the attitude I have known some cancer patients to have.
Hazel [trying to push Gus away]: “Gus, I’m a grenade. One day I’m going to explode and I’m going to obliterate everything in my wake. And, I don’t know, I feel like it’s my responsibility to minimize the casualties.”
20) Nice to know that Augustus is being honest with himself though.
Hazel [after her mom says she and Augustus are cute together]: “We’re just friends.”
Augustus: “Well, she is. I’m not.”
21) The date night between Augustus and Hazel on the town in Amsterdam is very cute and the connection they’re able to portray with almost no dialogue speaks greatly to the chemistry between Woodley and Elgort.
22) Augustus’ declaration of love is done VERY well.
Augustus [almost out of the blue]: “I am in love with you. You heard me. I am in love with me.”
This scene is very organic and honest. It feels like the most natural next step for not only the scene but their relationship as well. It doesn’t feel forced or awkward it makes sense. And I think both Elgort and Woodley play the scene wonderfully.
23) I kinda realized half way through this film is effortlessly feminist. We make a big deal sometimes out of honest female representation in the media but honestly it hardly comes to mind with this film because all the characters - male and female - are easily honest. You don’t even think about it, they just are three dimensional characters throughout. It’s surprisingly refreshing.
24) Willem Dafoe as Peter Van Houten.
I’m not one to say to never meet your heroes, but if you do make sure your expectations are considerably low. This way if they’re a raging asshole like this guy you won’t be too disappointed. Because that’s what Van Houten is. An asshole. A raging, pretentious, alcoholic douche bag who thinks he’s SO above everything. Literally no part of the meeting Hazel and Augustus have with him goes well, leading to a very expected and very cathartic blow up. Dafoe plays the asshole well, making him a character we love to hate and a nice aspect of the film.
25)
Van Houten: “How familiar are you with Swedish hip hop?”
If you want to avoid vulgar lyrics in your music, do NOT google the translation to the Bomfalleralla. It’s worse than you might think.
26) This is SO key to Hazel’s conflict.
Hazel [asking Van Houten about his characters’ lives after the book]: “But that doesn’t mean her family and her friends don’t have a future [after the narrator dies], right?”
As Hazel will observe later, this is her biggest fear. It seems she has made her death with peace and dying but she is so terrified of how she is going to hurt the people she loves. That is the most key internal conflict she has in the film and one which will be consistent until the end.
27) The Anne Frank House.
More than anything else, this serves as incredible show of strength for Hazel. She is fighting to live, and choosing life over death by deciding to be with Augustus even if it’s only for a limited amount of time. The setting of the Anne Frank House drives home the idea of life’s unfortunate impermanence. I’m sure the use of Anne’s narration underscoring the scene acts as some grand literary device but it is difficult for me to analyze it because I am so invested in Hazel’s struggle in the scene.
28) The love scene between Hazel and Augustus is incredible. And not because it’s sexy or because it’s hot or anything. It is because it is honest. There is this incredible comfort they have around each other. They’re comfortable with their scars, with their tubes, with their limitations. They don’t worry that it will turn the other person off. It is a vulnerability born out of complete and utter trust, a trust which is not abused but respected by both parties. It is incredibly tender and just very loving.
29) Did I mention cancer sucks?
Augustus: “I felt an ache in my hip.”
Okay, Hazel just fucking KNOWS what he is about to tell her. As soon as he says, “I felt an ache in my hip,” you can see it on her face. She knows where this is going because she is uncomfortably familiar with how cancer works. And it’s heartbreaking.
30) According to IMDb:
Soon after the film's release, the street bench on which Gus and Hazel had their embrace was stolen. A few months later, it was replaced by the city of Amsterdam.
People suck.
31) It’s nice to see that this film still has a sense of humor and life to it in the face of death.
Augustus [after Hazel says they should wait until after dark to egg someone’s house]: “It’s all dark to Isaac.”
Isaac [after a second]: “Dude, I’m not deaf. I’m just blind.”
32) One of Ansel Elgort’s standout scenes is his breakdown at the gas station. Hazel even observes that she wishes she could say he’d held his courage and sense of humor to the end, but that’s not how life works. This is very honest. This kid is freaking dying of cancer! Of course he’s going to breakdown! And Elgort plays that sadness totally honestly and in an utterly gut wrenching way. It’s his standout scene in the entire film.
33) I love that Hazel calls him out on this.
Augustus: “I mean I was supposed to be special.”
It doesn’t matter if everyone likes you as long as one person loves you. If you’re important to someone it doesn’t matter that you’re not important to everyone. Just because we’re all not famous or infamous or historic does not mean we are not special.
34) Hazel’s biggest fear is that her parents won’t have a life after she dies, because her death is a fact to her. But when her parents tell her that they’re being productive, that her mother is studying social work and that they will have a life after her death, she is just so freaking happy. This incredible weight has been lifted off her shoulders, she is not the grenade she thought she was. It makes me tear up, honestly.
35) Hazel’s eulogy.
This is the climax of the film. The moment the rest of the movie has been building up towards, the moment their relationship has been leading to. It defines that relationship. Woodley shines in her monologue and Elgort shines in his quiet reaction. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once and just totally incredible. And this line emphasis the impact they have had on each other’s lives:
Hazel: “Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”
36) There was this analytical post when the movie first came out that pointed out the shirt Hazel is wearing when she learns Augustus died is HIS tee shirt. I just can’t find any post about it because anytime you google, “Fault in Our Stars Tee Shirt,” you get a link to the song by Birdy that’s in the film. If you guys have this bookmarked anywhere I’d love to hear about it, but the fact that Hazel is wearing Augustus’ shirt when she learns he died is heartbreaking to me.
37) Hazel realized something quite important here.
Hazel [after making up a eulogy on the spot different than the one she read for Augustus]: “I didn’t believe a word. But that’s okay…Funerals, I decided, are not for the dead. They’re for the living.”
38) “Not About Angels” is still one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard. It breaks my heart every time. I feel like breaking down and crying whenever I hear it. Here, share in my pain:
youtube
39) Augustus’ final letter to Hazel is a perfect resolution the film. It speaks greatly to not only Augustus’ character but also the relationship he and Hazel had. It is a wonderful emotional resolution which I think just work beautifully.
Augustus [at the end of his letter]: “Okay Hazel Grace?”
The Fault in Our Stars is a moving and honest film supported by a great cast and a wonderful method of adaptation. The spirit of John Green’s source material is alive and well in the film, with performers like Shailene Woodly and Ansel Elgort breathing incredible life into these characters. The film can be funny and heartbreaking all at the same time, but it never falters in its honest approach to these characters. Absolutely wonderful, I suggest everyone see it.

Some real talk about Sciles/Stydia/Sterek and the shitshow that is Teen Wolf
Thoughts on Teen Wolf (Scott/Stiles brotp/Stydia/Sterek) after reading a lot of vitriolic and just plain sad TW posts, from ALL ship bases and fans:
For one, I never hated Scott nor wished he’d die or anything, even though I don’t particularly “like” him. That’s because of how’s he’s been written. My issue with him is NOT that he’s imperfect (because he is), in fact, that’s one of the things I LOVE about Scott. He can (and always has been able to) be an utter asshole, and that makes him normal. No one is all good or all bad. Unfortunately, showrunners typically think that way. And partially because of that (I believe), Scott is written as this happy go lucky, gullible, perky puppy dog who loves everyone and has a messiah complex. But that’s not true. He is not the best friend in the whole wide world, although that doesn’t necessarily make him a “bad” friend. He can be both a bad and good friend because he can be both a bad person and a good person. He is not infallible or perfect, as we would be led to believe. Watching all of the seasons over again really cleared my head on this and reminded me why I had begun to build up some animosity toward the character, which surprised me. I began to get really fed up with him and liked it when Stiles and he butted heads because I thought Scott was acting like a total idiot and, yes, a shitty friend. The answer was simply that he’d always had the capacity to be that way, even back in season 1. He was the stereotypical dorky teenage boy who got lucky with a pretty girl and began to think he was hot shit, certainly better than his friend because he was succeeding at having what he called a “normal life.” He didn’t really “need” Stiles at that point, and he just used Derek over and over. It happens to the best of us. To be fair, Stiles was written to type as well as the dorky best friend who’s pining over the girl he can’t have. The difference for me is that Stiles has had Scott’s back more often then visa versa.
So for me, my agitation with Scott stems partially from the writers inability to allow Scott to own up and make some real changes. Think about this, in the final 6a scene, it’s Stiles who’s directing the “I need you” “I miss you” conversation. Scott doesn’t have a lot of self-reflection or heartfelt epiphanies as much as you think he would. His mostly deal with his status as an alpha and the responsibilities that that entails.
Another part of it, again not really the character’s fault, is how his status as a POC is used. I think it’s great that he’s a POC, but I also feel that the showrunners use that as a cop out. It almost lets them feel entitled to shit on other POC characters because they can still point to Scott and say “Look, our main character’s a POC, we’re so modern.” Honestly, Scott could totally be white and it wouldn’t affect his story, that’s how little a role his heritage plays, so the fact that he’s a POC to me just seems like Jeff Davis and company patting themselves on the back for being inclusive. I mean, let’s be honest, his acting ability in season 1 was embarrassing, so I’m a little cynical as to why they chose him. The shitty way they’ve written his character just rubs salt into the wound.
On Stydia:
First, to be fair, I’ll throw it out there that I’m not a Stydia shipper, but that’s not because I don’t like them together or because I ship Stalia or because I thought something crazy like he was secretly with Derek in canon (although I do ship Sterek). I’ll touch on Malia, but I honestly ship Scalia, so there.
I love them in a close friendship (kind of like the one he was establishing with Derek before it all went to hell). I thought it would be SO MUCH more meaningful and have much more of an impact if they remained friends. Why? Because it would have been playing AGAINST TYPE, something TW showrunners can’t seem to grasp. So Stiles was the stereotypical dorky best friend who pined and borderline stalked the hot girl and eventually “won” her affections. Is it a cute love story? Sure. Does it make me want to stab my eyeballs out with how cliché it is? Absofuckinglutely. Do I think it reduces both of their characters to the single purpose of satisfying an artificial and set in stone “ship”? YES. I say artificial because they’re fulfilling the roles that have been laid out for them since EPISODE 1. What is exciting, cute, sweet, or even remotely celebratory about that? And so all close male/female friendships have to end in them dating? Come on people, we’ve been fed trope after trope after trope, starting with the teenagers falling in love at first sight aka Scallison. Not hating on Scallison by any means, just how they got pushed together like wham bam thank you ma'am; although, yes, teenagers do fall in love easily so I can at least understand it even if I don’t like it. Allison falling in love with Isaac and him learning to trust her, someone who had tried to kill him, after everything he went through? Now that was something special. It was sad that it never had the chance to go anywhere.
I’ll never get over how they really just slammed Stydia in everyone’s faces with 6a. What was it really about other than to force Lydia into accepting her feelings? …Nothing. Literally nothing happened that changed anything from premiere to finale. Except for Mama McCall and Papa Argent getting their smooch on. Which I’m down for. I didn’t buy into her and the Sheriff, partially because it would have been so obvious and I think a little too campy and saccharine. So 6a just accomplished the “full circle” plotline of Stydia, in all its romantically forced and melodramatic glory. Again, I like them together, and I think her devestation felt real and it was sweet. But they really just slammed the romance aspect together like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. With STALE peanut butter and jelly. As in Lydia didn’t really give an inkling of romantic feelings beyond a few shared glances throughout the seasons and both she and Stiles were busy with other people. A Stiles and Erica relationship was baited right before the actress left, and then we were baited with Cora, who Stiles seemed interested in, and then of course we had the underage Stalia sex in the basement of a mental institution AKA one of the few black marks on an otherwise good season. And then he drops her and what, we’re supposed to pretend like they weren’t a thing for 2 whole seasons? O.K. Once again, we have another character introduced to serve very few purposes with no real plot herself, and that’s mostly to be a girlfriend to Stiles and Peter’s reason for self-improvement. What other purpose has she served? But yeah, we’re supposed to forget her because Stydia is a thing that must happen and it’s the last season. Jeff Davis pretty much said about a lot of season 6 plot lines and decisions, “It’s the last season, so we thought ‘Why not? Let’s do it.’” That is so unbelievably shitty and unfair to characters and their actors. Like, have some self-respect. THAT is why a lot of fans think Stydia is fanservice. Because of the showrunners attitude that they’ll just throw it all against the wall, give “everyone” the happy ending they always wanted because Teen Wolf is ending. Davis said he always wrote every season as if it was the last before they knew it would end with 6. HELLO. Stiles and Lydia don’t get together until 6a. That means if the show had been cancelled like Davis suspected it might, Stydia wouldn’t have been endgame after all.
As for Sterek, it’s my otp but not because I think they were romantic on the show. They weren’t that we know of. I just like them as a pairing, always have, and always will. Some of you spout that’s it’s gross because of the age difference, so obviously that means you’re not OK with all of the baiting they did with Lydia and Parrish? And you have a problem watching underage characters having sex on screen and constantly seeing minors being sexualized? Right? You have to if you think Sterek fans are disgusting. So I don’t put too much thought into the like 6 or 7 year age difference because when Stiles is 18 Derek would only be maybe 25. Hell, I’m 23 and I can tell you a few years means shit, especially this particular period of your life. Derek is still pretty much a kid. Not that I’m going to get into the age difference debate and the sexualization of Sterek. I don’t write, nor do I read fanfiction featuring a sexual canon Sterek relationship; if I do at all, it’s in AUs.
I do think there was more Sterek content in 3b and 4, despite them being apart, but what troubles me is how they pretty much did it on purpose to upset Sterek fans. Dylan and Tyler loved working together, they said as much, and they commented on not having as many scenes together. Meanwhile you have certain people making derogatory public comments and putting the ship and it’s fans down. Of course the fan base is going to be hurt by that, why wouldn’t they if they feel like they’ve been disrespected by the very people their viewership supports? And then they watch their two beloved characters have less and less screen time together and it feels very deliberate. Obviously Jeff Davis and company felt the need to send a message that Sterek was not going to happen, which is fine, but they did so at the expense of a very funny and interesting relationship–something that has hurt the show, no matter how much you dislike or disagree with Sterek as a “ship.” Stiles and Derek could have been real friends, something they were working toward; anyone remember Stiles being the one to show up in Derek’s semi-lucid dream state when Kate shot him? Some point out that could mean Stiles is an anchor-like figure for Derek, or that at the least he is someone Derek feels comfortable around to imagine him there at a time when he is hurt and needing reassurance and advice. And that emphasis on Stiles when Derek left in 4 and the touchy subject of his absence in 5a? Yeah, Stiles had begun to like Derek, and the show did a fair amount of queer baiting–not just for Sterek but a lot of other pairings. But that relationship was severed mostly because A. the showrunners were determined to make any ship other than Sterek exist B. they separated them a lot from seasons 1 and 2 to reduce the Sterek support and C. Tyler eventually decided to leave for his own personal reasons (the show wasn’t kind to his character for sure). After that we saw the slow decline of Stalia and the continued crawl of Stydia scenes, meanwhile having the brand new ship of Larrish being dropped on us out of the freaking blue.
The showrunners didn’t really want to commit to going all in with Stydia before the absolute last season. That’s gotta mean something to Stydia shippers. I don’t understand how you guys can gloss over that and ignore how it affects the integrity of the characters. Would I rather see Stydia than Stalia? Yes and no, but only because I acknowledge that Stalia was a crack pairing to begin with and it made no sense storyline wise. Stydia still feels rushed in 6a after a slow burn that could have just meant a strong friendship. And now we have these revelations such as Lydia admitting that everything changed when she first kissed Stiles. O.K. then, now why don’t we get an explanation as to why that’s just now a thing for her when the kiss took place back in freaking 3a, in a scene that was unrealistic to begin with? I understand the excitement of seeing your otp come true, but the lack of romance until the crazy plot of 6a harms the integrity of everything.
They should have made Stydia a thing before 6a instead of saying “What the hell, why not?” Believe it or not, Sterek shippers might actually be pissed if they’d done that to Stiles and Derek. Can you imagine? Having Derek come swooping in at the last season and have Stiles suddenly realize his romantic feelings for him? The fan base would be in an UPROAR for the lack of development and rightly so. Is Stydia more believable? Of course. Has Derek been absent since 5? Obviously. So they had no chance to develop any relationship at all, friendship or otherwise. Stydia makes more sense because they’ve had more time to become friends and have been pushed together, in part as a response to Sterek as an insistence that Stiles and Lydia would always be important to each other and would definitely get together. Meanwhile, characters like Malia are getting used like a rag doll, taking up space as Stiles girlfriend when it’s convenient, and tossed back aside to make way for Lydia once Davis and company feel good and damned ready to make Stydia a thing.
At the end of the day, the biggest reason I don’t want Stydia to be a thing is because their relationship matters more when they’re not doing the thing you expect. It’s much more mature for Stiles to say, “You know what? I always had this childish notion that we’d be together because it was fate, but I realize now that we’re too good of friends for this to be the right decision. I value your friendship more than the desire to fulfill my immature ambition of winning you.” The romantic subplot that never came to fruition between Rachel Green and Joey from Friends come to mind. They realized it didn’t feel right because they were too close, their friendship too strong. They made an adult decision not to pursue it further.
But no. We don’t get that kind of growth. We get the same old regurgitated same old, and that’s why I won’t really miss TW when it’s gone because let’s face it, the real show’s been gone for a while now.
Jeff Davis and company kind of gave up a long time ago for various reasons, but unfortunately by then the oldest fans, making up the loyal fan base, were hooked and still came back for more torture. The fact that we’re less than a month out, have only just been told that, and still don’t have a trailer, makes me livid in ways I can’t describe. MTV/TW showrunners have really shown their disdain for their own characters and their fans for the sake of going out with a bang, and it’s utterly disgusting.
Rant over.

→ Her Connections
