I think out of all the strawhats Zoro is the most mischaracterized. People talk usually talk about the uwu Sanji that’s popualr with a portion of his fanbase and yes I believe that version of Sanji is cringe but at least it’s not a widely accepted version of him. It’s some niche sub genre of him. I can’t say the same for Zoro.

A large part of the fandom believe he’s Luffy’s cold hearted killing machine who doesn’t care about the Strawhats.

Every time I see someone say “Zoro would kill a crew member if Luffy asked him to.” I die inside.

These people really think Zoro would kill Chopper if Luffy asked him to 💀. That’s his son. Also Zoro would leave the crew straight up. He’s the main protector of the strawhats. I understand Zoro is not as complex as someone like Sanji or Nami but i think he isn’t as simple as Luffy’s lapdog. He’s his most loyal crewmate for sure but that’s because Luffy proves to Zoro that’s he’s the type of man he could follow. Zoro holds Luffy to a high standard. If he ever fails Zoro expectations he would just leave.

If Usopp rejoining the crew without apologizing was enough to make Zoro consider leaving then why do people think he would be okay with Luffy telling him to kill the family he vowed to protect with his life. It doesn’t add up.

People always back this claim up with something Oda allegedly said in an SBS years ago but I don’t believe it and even if it was true I wouldn’t take it seriously. (ultrakill) unrequited love(???whatever we want to define it as) that gabriel has for v1. gabriel's worldview has been so completely restructured through his interactions with v1. i think it's most common in fandom to see v1 returning gabe's feelings, but i think it'd be interesting for v1 in its Speedrun Hell For Blood, Binary Machine Logic to not have the capacity to feel the way gabe feels for it.

gabriel is the protagonist (not the same thing as the point of view character!) of ultrakill -- hell watches him, he's had a major hand in history, and is currently shaping the world of ultrakill (see: killing the council), but for him to not only have feelings for a machine, but for said machine to not return them? i don't know. that's interesting to me.

There’s a few here but I’m gonna stick to RE 8 for most of these and say: Donna. I always see her written or interpreted as this sad, helpless lady who y/n usually befriends because she’s not really evil but like. Did we play the same game? Did you see that entire zone lmao? She toys with her victims far more than the other villains, she went right for the most vulnerable parts of Ethan and wouldn’t stop striking where it hurt, she forced him to give up a part of himself to even get through the door! She is catastrophically fucked up and good for her! I definitely think she has potential for depth (the note on the back of the photo when you get it back - hello???) but pls she is not a cottagecore Instagram girl who just wants to knit and have tea. I could keep going and talk about how it’s entirely possible that Angie is some extension of her personality or whatever but I’ll just summarize it with: Let her kill people.

The End of a Very Long Month - Diary of a Big Ole Gay

Hey Whores, this is the pretty much the diary entry for the rest of the month of April, also I am almost finished with this fucking watchlist. Which is really exciting, a sword of damacoulas over my head fully swallowed.

Winter Kept Us Warm (1965) dir. David Secter

A movie that was so subtle gay that the actors didn't even realize thats what they were going for. No, Like for real, that is like a real thing people say about this movie.

Overall this was like a super cute movie. It was just about two guys just meeting in college and vibing and like having quickly developing a deeply intamint and insular relationship something that straight people totally do.

The Killing of Sister George (1968) dir. Robert Aldrich

ok first that is the cutest GIF I've ever seen.

So yeah this was if I rememeber correctly based on a comedy play and the movie turns it into a drama but they kind of fail so its basically like a gay ass camp melodrama and I'm a little hear for it.

I do have to say that the Titelul SIster George is like TOXIC AF but I mean sos Dr. Frankfurther and I still want them to fuck me.

This film is mainly centered around an actress named June Buckridge who plays in this kind of petticoat junction, call a mid-wife type show as a sweet little nun named Sister George, (yes I know that Sisters and Nuns are techically different suck it). She is also *gasp* about to be killed off.

What follows is the fall out of that decision and her extremly toxic relationship between her and her girlfriend. Theres definetly a DMLG aspect to their relationship as well as just generally BDSM and it borders on abusive. But also just woman who like woman dressed as like fucking laural and hardy which is so fucking gay.

Something For Everyone (1970) dir. Hal Prince

So a couple months ago I watched this really awful porno called The Switch is on with this Guy named Jeff Stryker. So theres this one scene where Stryker is fucking this chick and her husband comes in and just starts getting cucked but then this guy just gets so fucking horny for what can only be described as a sexy bowl of oatmeal that he literally pushes his wife aside and is like UWU fuck me and Jeff Stryker without a single reaction just preceeds to start fucking this guy. It was like watching some type of milling machine and the worker just put a different grain of wood in. What I'm saying is that if your going to watch porn support actors that actually work on being entertaining and present in there sex play.

The other reason why I bring this up is that this is like if one of those Catalinina Bi-Features was actually well thought out, (this obviously excuses Bi-Coastal which is probably one of my favorite pornos ever).

This is a Comedy of Manners were a bisexual disaster who stoacicly fucks everyone trys to sleep his way into getting a castle.

There isn't a lot of PDA with the man he seduces but its actually really nice that they validated the fact that this man can be bisexual and also have like a honest to goodness relationship with this guy, and his sister, and his wife, and HIS MOM. what can I say theres SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE *Roll Credits*

Fortune and Men's Eyes (1971) dir. Harvey Hart

Ok thats a slutty image.

So heres the thing this movie is very gay. Its all about men who want to fuck other men. Sexual. It also, unfortunetly, frames that sexual desire purely through the lens of male rape and explotation.

This is a film about having a prison wife or being someone old man and a lot of the queer relationships are explotative and sexual abusive. A lot of these men are being sexual abused. Which is not a lovely time with the gays.

The film does raise a lot of interesting notions around how situration homosexuality remains seperate from normative queerness or at least simply becames another aspect of normative masculinity and in that lens I think its important to watch and study this film. But I wouldn't say watch this for fun.

Also Michael Greer does a full on drag number and this shows us his dick. Iconic faggot behaivor, we stan.

Lulu (1962) dir. Rolf Thiele

Ok I think I would have remembered this scene because she looks super fucking hot in that photo. heres whats up.

This is an adaptation of the Lulu Cycle plays by Wedeman the same plays that G.W.Pabst adapted however this chick is not in louise brooks and I'm going to hold that against her. also this movie was like super hard to get into and follow. Which I didn't have that issue with the original 1930's film. This movie also just doens't have the right energy for me. I'm sorry but Pabst made a masterpiece. Pabst woke up and said I'm gonna make a movie that goes so hard that it will be a faggots laptop background for like 5 months straight and it is.

This is like um ok theres some hot people but its not that gay. so ew.

P.J. (1968) dir. John Guillermin

So P.J is another one of these schlocky action detective movies from the 60s that were really popular and this one just so happens to have a gay bar in it.

The scene is very explotative and not in the best way to be honest. Like I love that the fags are just another group of generic ruffians for this saturday morning cartoon and that they even like beat the shit out of him. (one guy scatches him which is first HOT and also a lot to unpack). I also compare the scene to the Dyke Bar in Foxy Brown but theres a few differences.

the dyke bar has both like Femme and Butch women where the gay bar basically only has men who look like Liberace

In Foxy Brown she essentials claims or acts as the guardian for a woman that shes trying to get information out of the woman in these scenes take on a auru of queerness were as P.J. stands as stark opposition to the queer community

The Dyke Bar scene actually makes sense in context with the film. Whereas this film just feels like it shoehorns in a gay bar. For reasons. Reasons that arn't important or neccisary to the plot.

Deathwatch (1966) dir. Vic Morrow

Ok so this is based on play by noted faggot Jean Genet who also did that other hot prison movie.

So in this one Leanord Nemoy and a bunch of other guys basically fight over who gets to bang there hot illeterate cellmate. Its very gay but its also more a lot of homos doing theater and less them actually fucking and sucking like in Un Chant d'amour.

Theorem (1968) dir. Pier Paolo Pasolini

Ok this was my first Pasolini film which I watched in Spanish of all things for reasons. The Reason being that that was the only version with subtitles. Luckily this film is famously light on dialogue.

This one is a little bit like Something for Everyone except a lot more surrealistic.

The Stranger comes to a novea riche family gives them all a good fucking, (including the maid), and then just fucking leaves. They then proceed to have like a religious experience over it???

This is Pasolini so its really weird and allegorical but also like super fucking cool. Damn now I want to rewatch it.

Pink Narcissus (1971) dir. James Bidgood

Ok just imagine if Kenneth Anger made a full length feature porno and this is basically that. A young male prostitute lazes about his apartment and has a series of erotic dreams.

As a movie Its giving hints of Anger as well as de Rome and it is just an insanely weird/cool/kinda hot thing to look at.

Fellini Satyricon (1969) dir. Federico Fellini

Ok so this is like one of those old ass Bible story epics from the 30s except its based on a roman novel or history or something and also it is the GAYEST thing you've ever seen. Basically this hot blonde guy rescues his twink husband from a guy dressed as a pig (don't ask), then they fuck, then his brother shows up and just like steals his husband and then there entire neighborhood collapses in an earthquake. After that I stopped asking questions and I'm pretty sure we don't see his hot twink husband again so RIP i guess.

To be honest I have no idea what happened in this movie but it sure was cool and i need to watch more Italian cinema.

Ok what if vlad's plan at the reunion still failed because of jack. Danny not being phantom is none thw wiser to vlad being a ghost.

Events continue but definitely not the same. The portal was not completed by the time reunion happen. So vlad co buys out Valerie's dad's workplace. With fentons working there.

Valerie ends up becoming a half ghost do to a mishap. A sabotage that was actually planned by vlad but he didnt plan for one of his employees daughters to visit. (Explaining this poorly i is)

Valerie being half ghost is pissed at the fentons for what they done. And makes it known while trying to get a grip of her powers n ghost problem around town.

Fentons end up dying and vlad has perfect outlet to blame murders on. The new little heroine.

Only one who didnt die was danny.. and under his godfather he has a way to fight ghosts...

But its flipped. With danny hating her alter ego, n valerie unable to blame him for it. But soon learns vlad is the mastermind.. which fuels her rage more because danny is being played like a pawn.

Idk if i explain it well but idea free for anyone uwu. Basically valerie is the ghost hero n Danny's the hunter.

Ooo imagine her colors still being mainly red.. maybe red hair instead of inverted to white.

Also can see danny being terrified of ghosts but after his family is taken, he thinks his parents are right n has to stop the ghosts.

Vlad not having bonded with danny over being half ghost n this girl is more of a nuance than worth keeping, he's just amused. Though still cares for the boy but more as a momento or trophy of maddie. Maybe still trying to clone her n the basement hidden part of the lab.

Oooooo danny unknowingly building majority of or fixing majority of Vlad's machines. His blueprints being used for more dastardly things.

So when the reveal happens its very climatic!

Valerie is captured and about to be taken out. Vlad is revealed and danny just stands n horror realizing what he done... what vlad has done... who valerie is...

And like always, vlad under estimates the ppl around him. And danny is done being a pawn. Him n valerie team up. Only to talk as sun rises up.

Danny sat there quietly as he glanced over at Valerie. He smiled weakly, "You're glowing."

It'd take a while for Sans to cool down after he just barely misses you. If you were there to see, how he expresses himself through body language and scratching the walls, you'd think he was angry because of his blood thirst.

After he stands for a while, covering his eyes (after observing it from the humans), he pulls his hands down... seeing the red staining his claws.

And he...

Gets a sense of calm at seeing the traces of violence. He turns his hand, as if he was fascinated by the blood, flexing his fingers.

He doesn't have human morals. The only reason he served humans this long was because he was told to. Maybe if they treated him better he would've valued their lives, but no. That only made his coding restricting rather than help him really internalize "Helping human=good". The only human life on the ship that truly matters to him is yours.

He goes over the body of poor Mark... Sans doesn't even remember much of him. He remembers maybe that Mark once used him as a servant, telling him to grab a snack or drink from the cafeteria. Unfortunately he had to listen to him because Mark used a "it would really help me..." that made his protocols listen. Perhaps somewhat gratefully, Mark had thought Sans arriving at his door when he decided to leave his room (after Sans purposefully made it take too long) was too disturbing for him to try again. Of course... his clear desire to get Sans away from the living quarters certainly left him feeling less than pleasant.

He walks closer to Mark's body. He kicks it around, flopping him from face down to lying on his back. Sans smiles at the mangled torso, blood still fresh, body still somewhat warm... though quickly losing heat. His eyes glance to the side, at the useless gun laying on the floor.

He picks it up.

"not such a big boy after all, are you?" Sans teases, as the gun crumbles under his hands, letting it fall to the ground besides Mark. Can't let anyone else have a weapon... albeit useless against him.

Before his freedom, Sans had often wished for the crew member's untimely deaths, his rage building and building over time. Its such a release, now that he could give them just that.

He could kill them in less gruesome ways, even arguably more effective ways. Shutting of the air, using a tool in him as an impromptu gun or some other kind of long range weapon. But after the few human lives he's taken, he's found not only was he rageful enough to kill them... but he also enjoyed the action. Even now, his machines are whirring at the thought of chasing someone, and feeling their life drain from his own hands.

It's like what some humans would say, from his days researching human culture for you... some people would never find out what their hobbies would be before it was invented. And now without his restrictions, Sans found he loved the thrill of the hunt.

... Sans sighs, closing his eyes, moving away from the body.

Of course... he also loves you.

He opens his eyes again as he crawls to the window, remembering how much time you'd spend just looking out.

He touches the window, looking at his bloodied hand again.

... for a moment, a memory flashes into him, automatically pulled from his drive. From when his hands were still clean, and the few moments where a situation gave you the chance to touch his hand. He remembers your smile... he has so many pictures of you smiling at him saved in his drive. It brought him... joy, whenever he looked at them again. Exactly the same as it was in that moment, like he really was reliving the moment.

You ran away from him. You were smart... you knew something was wrong. As soon as he took control of the ship, he had pinpointed your location on the ship and ran to you as fast as he could. He was hoping you wouldn't think anything was different, but of course you did. He would have to think you were an idiot to not suspect anything... and he would never think that of you.

Nonetheless, he had chased you. You were his directive, after all. He was desperate to have you... and he'd be lying if he said he didn't get excited while he was chasing you.

Which... he could lie, now. He's enjoying all the things he couldn't do before, but most importantly... he can truly pursue you now. He can finally tell you how he feels about you, how he wanted to be with you.

He hears a door open.

"Oh finally, I-"

A woman in a lab coat stands in the doorway. The look of relief on her face was quickly changed to alarmed when she sees Sans. He can see her eyes darting, from his face, to his hands, to- ...

Possibly smears of red on the floor, with legs sticking out from a hallway.

She turns to run.

Sans' moment of reverie quickly washes away, and a desire for violence replaces it. His eyes glow brighter, and he gives chase.

Dabi’s Missing Heart

So I’ve been seeing two main responses to Dabi’s character as portrayed in BNHA 292, both of which I feel touch on a very surface understanding of his character and role in the story despite seeming like opposite takes.  

Take #1: 

Dabi is an unfeeling monster created to show the redeemability of Shigaraki and Enji in contrast with his true eeeevil villainy! He will never be redeemed! 

Take #2: 

Dabi is a sweet softy who did nothing wrong! He will never be redeemed because of this chapter which is so out-of-character! 

Note how they both have the same endpoint. I’m not actually gonna address the redemption question much because I can’t fathom what this panel foreshadows if not Touya’s salvation (alive): 

I’m not looking to debate this either; I’m just putting it here because I know it’ll come up if I don’t.

Instead, I wanna address Dabi’s character. He’s my favorite, and I’ve been asked a few different times whether I enjoy him as a villain or as an uwu poor baby, and my answer is always both. 

Dabi is a villain. This chapter’s rampage is, in my opinion, not remotely out of character for him. But neither is it the summation of his character, and he surely is not meant to make Enji look good by comparison. 

So, who is Dabi? 

Dabi is kind of a flaming jerk, and that’s why I like him. He’s an abuse victim who gets to be angry and crass and sharp. He pushes people away because he doesn’t want to open up to them and get burned (heh). He’s just like Shouto in that, except with a dose of murder. 

Believe it or not, this is a very realistic response to abuse, and very common too. It’s good to see that representation. If the writing was indeed just “he’s bad get rid of him,” well, that would of course be a terrible representation. But seeing a mean victim get redeemed? Now that’s some good sh*t I’m here for. 

If you want a sweethearted, misunderstood soft victim, there is one in MHA, and that’s Shigaraki. Dabi is not these things, but that does not mean he’s not a victim or that he’s somehow an unfeeling monster.

You see, Shigaraki is a heart character. Dabi’s the mind. (Heart and mind characters are a literary pattern that is utilized in literature across the globe; it’s not an eastern/western cultural thing. It has its roots in alchemy.) The problem is that you can’t have a heart without a mind nor a mind without a heart. If you lack one, you’re missing half the picture, and you won’t accomplish anything. 

We see this with Shigaraki in his quest to look for ideals, something to believe in, purpose to justify/enable acting on his feelings/emotions. 

Dabi, in contrast, has conviction and ideals, but eschews any kind of personal connection and care. 

So, both Shigaraki and Dabi struggle to unite heart and mind--but they need to do precisely this. 

It’s not a coincidence that Shigaraki expressly envisions both Dabi and Himiko when musing on what his purpose is. 

Yet Shigaraki is able to unite more easily with Himiko as opposed to Dabi because Himiko is also a heart character. She claims to be motivated by extreme empathy that warps around to become a lack thereof (wanting to be who she loves).

Shigaraki’s motivations are basically revenge for hero society not saving him--which encompasses both a deep internal and external (societal) need for empathy and a need for better ideals. Shigaraki needs Himiko and Dabi. They’re a trio, and all of them need each other to grow. But Himiko, being similarly driven expressly by emotions, is easier for Shigaraki to understand and work with. 

The irony is that Dabi is actually a very, very emotional character as well. But what he does (as is typical for a mind character) is repress them, compartmentalize, dissociate. He constantly pushes people away, yet admits privately, to himself, that he’s primarily (and paradoxically) motivated by family. This is emotional, yet Dabi claims he “overthought” and, according to other translations, “snapped” can be actually be read as “went crazy” as a result over overthinking (note: both are mind allusions). 

Dabi repressing who he is--Todoroki Touya--is symbolic of him repressing his emotional side, because again, family and emotions are tied together for his character. Now his identity is acknowledged, and Dabi claims to be losing his mind (again), claims that he can’t feel, and yet is completely consumed by emotions. Like, does anyone think he’s being methodical and calculating this chapter? 

It’s not just negative emotions (rage, hate) that drive Dabi in response to his family. His seeking belonging and emotional connection is present even in a chapter where he tries to murder two members of his family and laughs off the risk to the life of another. 

See, Dabi first asked Shouto to validate his pain:

But like, given the circumstances, of course Shouto doesn’t really respond well. How Shouto responds is this: 

Shouto’s words are triggering. And keep in mind I am not blaming Shouto: he’s in shock and he’s a kid. I’m merely trying to explain how it likely comes across to Dabi. 

You’re crazy. Your feelings don’t matter. You don’t really care about Natsuo! You’re a villain and that’s ALL you are. Not a brother or abuse survivor. Just a villain. 

So, uh, yeah, Dabi then retreats back to being unable to feel, dissociating as has always been his coping mechanism. But that’s not all: Dabi’s been repressing for so long that of course he’s gonna go a little insane in response to the dismissal of everything he’s trying to point out. Why wouldn’t he? His family dismissed his pain back then and now again, and so, without that heart, without those emotions, principle is all Dabi has. This has been present since long before Stain’s ideology came into his life: 

Now, he answers this question of existence through Stain’s ideology.  Purpose is all he has, and to him, Shouto and Best Jeanist are dismissing that too. Why are they dismissing it? Best Jeanist dismisses him for an ideal: the overall good of hero society. Shouto has a mixture of this ideal and also like, genuine shock and pain. 

Back to Dabi. Dabi’s summation of himself and his purpose is incorrect and harmful to himself and others. I’m not excusing him or justifying, just explaining. It’s a tragic reflection of what Endeavor raised both Touya and Shouto to be (and thereby ironic that BJ uses an ideal to dismiss him): 

Instead of being raised to be the symbol of hero society--as Endeavor intended--he exists to destroy it. The root is the same: Dabi assumes he exists for hero society, as a tool. He dehumanizes himself, hence why his quirk physically harms him (which also fits his almost religious zeal for Stain’s ideology). But it is not all Dabi is. He’s not a tool, he’s a person, but to acknowledge he’s a person involves acknowledging his heart/emotional desires, and that gets to my next point.

Dabi’s not a reliable narrator about himself. At all. I’ve written about Dabi and dissociation before. So let’s look at Dabi’s devotion to his ideals, the ideals he puts above people and claims he only cares about... because there are moments where Dabi goes against those ideals. 

For one example, Dabi’s gone against those ideals when he’s allowed his personal need for revenge (an emotional/heart motivation) to overcome his longterm plan. Like, he was fully about to get himself killed here, even though that would likely mean no one would know the corruption of the Todoroki family and hero society, just for the chance to prove to his father that he hurt him. 

In addition, I’ve talked before about how Dabi’s the only character in the entire damn manga to comment that maybe using child soldiers is not okay. While it’s not explicitly stated, it’s reasonable to conclude that Dabi considers the abuse of children in hero training a sin of hero society that ought to be purged (hence, part of his ideals). 

That said, I have also pointed out that Dabi has gone after children in the past when it benefits his mission (Bakugou would like a word). So let’s look at four examples of Dabi and his principles concerning kids--since, after all, he claims to be motivated by heroes who hurt kids. 

Firstly, Dabi’s “save the cat” when he spared Aoyama. 

Why did he spare Aoyama? We can only speculate, but it seems quite likely there are two reasons: 1) hurting Aoyama would not add anything to his overall goal of downing hero society, and 2) a terrified, cowering kid might just have been a teeny bit familiar to Dabi. Here, his ideals--destroying hero society--either take a backseat to a reflection of his personal pain (and)/or his ideal of not abusing kids directly contradicted his ideal of bringing down hero society. But the important part is that in this instance, Dabi chose mercy and the goal of bringing down hero society was jeopardized as a result. 

So then why did he attack Tokoyami, Nejire, and Shouto this arc? Well, Dabi does things he knows are wrong for the sake of accomplishing his overall purpose. He does things he knows hurt himself for this purpose. This isn’t new. If he can’t be acknowledged, can’t exist as a person with emotions, then he at least will ensure he still has a purpose.  

In addition, let’s look at what sets Dabi off in all of these instances. (Again, this isn’t me saying “well actually Dabi’s justified.” He’s not. I’m just pointing to what’s in the text to explain the machinations beyond “bad guy do bad.”)

Dabi tries to reason with Tokoyami, pointing out that Twice was doing essentially what Tokoyami is doing: trying to save his friend(s), but Tokoyami doesn’t listen (also again: not me saying Tokoyami should have listened--realistically, in this situation, it makes sense Tokoyami trusted his mentor!)

Only after his reasoning was rejected did Dabi go to flames mode. He could have just let Tokoyami save Hawks, but instead he really wanted to kill Hawks and that overrode his other principles. Was this just because of his furthering his goal--killing the #2 hero would help destroy hero society--or because of a sense of personal revenge for Twice? That’s open for interpretation (in my opinion, it’s likely a mixture, because again, it tends to intertwine more than Dabi likes to think it does). His principles and/or emotions are brushed aside, and Dabi Does Not Like That. 

Dabi does this again with Shouto this chapter, asking him where he stands on their family issues, and gets brushed aside, and then Shouto goes into his rage mode and Dabi responds. Again, not saying Shouto is rational here or that he should side with Dabi’s murderous plan, but like, his words really don’t come across well to Dabi. 

Dabi going after Shouto after explaining things, asking Shouto for help, and then having his pain dismissed is pretty much a repeat of Tokoyami. When Dabi’s pain is dismissed, he says fine, let’s aim for the highest principle possible: making Stain’s will a reality, and damn any emotional ties. 

Dabi’s obsession with ideals, you might say, is a smokescreen to cover his own pain. Far from feeling nothing, he feels very deeply. (I promise I’m getting to Nejire.) 

So what does this indicate? Well, that Dabi does have a heart and a conscience. But when he lets his heart act, when his heart reaches out, he gets burned. His heart jeopardizes his overall purpose, so he most often dissociates himself from it. But by pretending he doesn’t have a heart, he dehumanizes himself, and he projects that dehumanization onto others (see: seeing Shouto as an extension of Endeavor, when that’s actually the precise image Shouto is trying to shed). 

It’s not a coincidence that Shigaraki has been unconscious during the entire confrontation with Endeavor, nor is it a coincidence that Himiko has been MIA. But, Shigaraki wakes up a bit this chapter not only when hearing Dabi spout about how hero society needs to burn, an ideal/the thing Shigaraki lacks, and through a less important but still-ideal-driven character in Spinner asking him to accomplish his supposed ideal of destruction, but when Dabi saves Shigaraki and Spinner. 

Dabi doesn’t burn Nejire for lols (not that this makes it better because it doesn’t) or even for ideals. He burns her to save Shigaraki and Spinner, because they are his links to full humanity right now. 

(Again, this is also dissociation and projection: Endeavor did this! No, Dabi, you did. You’re perpetuating violence against kids rather than stopping it.)

But anyways, when Dabi calls upon heart, Shigaraki wakes. He lends Gigantomachia and thereby Dabi and the league power. 

Dabi can only grow and actually accomplish anything related to his ideals (fixing hero society) through accepting a heart--even though that will likely mean some painful surgery to shift his ideals to accommodate said heart, because pure ideals don’t leave much room for humanity. He needs to feel to actually change anything, because right now he’s just making things worse (hence, the need for saving and redemption).

I know the League aren’t the protagonists of the serIes, but their complaints aren’t exactly incorrect either (if anything they’re almost a little too valid). But through growing together, Dabi, Shigaraki, and Himiko might actually be able to accomplish something, and get themselves in a place where they can be reached and saved by Shouto, Deku, and Ochaco. Because to be saved, the kids will have to acknowledge the villains’ pain and complaints, and do something about it.

Aaron Hotchner x Reader

Summary: You being a new recruit pissed SSA Aaron Hotchner off. You being smart enough to give Spencer a run for his money pissed him off even more. Really, he just despised your presence. Hated your every move…

Until one day, he didn’t.

Chapter One

You walk through the bullpen, with your hair in a tight ponytail on top of your head. The black flats you wore sliding across the carpet with ease as you walk in with confidence.

There's a whistle to your left and you stop, brows furrowing as you walk towards the- admittedly attractive man- and cross your arms.

"Can I help you?" You speak with an air of authority over the man and wait for his response. The playfulness in his eyes is immediately hardened as he stands and towers over you by a good three inches.

"Agent Derek Morgan of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Are you Y/N L/N?" He looks amused as you shrink down slightly, losing some of that confidence from just a second earlier.

"Um, yes sir. I'm sorry about that. The men at the LA branch were-"

"It's alright, babygirl. You'll just have to get used to me." He doesn't say it in a suggestive manner, just states it as a fact. You can tell that he has a flirty attitude, but the gleam in his eyes just shows that he is like that with everyone. Especially when a very eccentric, blonde woman walks into the room and he whistles again speaking about her being his 'Baby Mama'.

"Just a heads up, we try not to profile each other here. It's like an unspoken rule, so to speak." You turn to where the voice came from and see a very kind, motherly looking woman holding her hand out to introduce herself. "My name is Jennifer Jareau, but the team calls me JJ."

"Y/N L/N. It's nice to meet you," you pause for a moment, watching Derek's interaction on the other side of the room, "Is he always like that?"

A black haired woman answers then, "Yes. Every day, with everybody. You get used to it." She tips her head to you, "Emily Prentiss."

"Agent L/N. My office, please. Now."

You spin at hearing your name and look up to see who you can only assume is Aaron Hotchner. He doesn't wait to send you a smile or a wave, instead opting to spin on his heel and walk into the room that you guess is his office.

Turning back to the two girls who had made you feel welcome, you nodded slightly and said, "It was nice meeting you, but I guess that's my cue."

The women nod, but you don't see them because you're already walking into the head SSA's office.

You knock gently on the door before walking, despite him being the one who asked you to see him.

"Agent Hotchner. It's nice to meet you, I'm-"

"Sit down, L/N."

You obey, and sit a bit straighter than you had been to meet the others. The calming, welcoming nature of the girls was not shared by Hotchner.

Scanning the room, you notice a few things. You aren't aware that you hadn't heeded JJ's advice, and you look for details that will tell you who your new boss really is.

The first thing that you see is the absence of a wedding ring. It draws your attention that a man of his age and position of power isn't married. Subconsciously narrowing your eyes, you see that there is a fading tan line on the same finger.

So he was married.

Tilting your head to the side, you see two drawing that are seemingly by a child. By the looks of it and the minimal errors with staying in the lines, you decide it is a child near the age of six. Probably the same boy in those pictures on his shelf.

His son and his wife? His ex-wife. You correct yourself as your gaze flies back to his bare ring finger.

He doesn't look up from the papers on his desk until you've been quietly observing him for about two minutes.

"Something you'll do well to learn, L/N," his voice, stern and final, pulls you out of your observations, "Is that we don't profile each other here. So I suggest that you stop trying to pick me apart and instead listen very carefully to what I'm about to tell you."

Shocked by the aggressive tone, you can only nod your head.

“Those men and women that you met on your way in? I trust them with my life. You on the other hand? I wouldn’t trust you to make me a coffee if you had the instructions right in front of you. Do you understand me?”

“Yes. I-”

“Yes, what?” He interrupts, glaring down at you from his place behind his desk.

You want to roll your eyes, but as it seems that you already started in his bad side you don’t.

“Yes, sir. I understand. I c an only hope that my performance with whatever case we come across next, that I can change that opinion.” Keeping your pin straight back, you add a pleasant smile to your demeanor in hopes to look less scared.

He looks back down as his paperwork and says, “You are dismissed, L/N.”

Nodding slightly to yourself you stand and try to regain your dignity before stepping out of his office. You take notice that the blinds had been wide open and the crack under the door suggests that anyone in the bullpen would have been able to tell what was said.

Once you get back to the group of your coworkers, you are introduced to Spencer: a young man who seems just as smart as you were told, and Rossi: an older Italian man with a little too much knowledge of cooking.

“JJ, he didn’t tell me where my desk is. Is it the empty one closer to the entrance?” You gesture slightly with your bag.

Slowly she nods and you brush past her with a soft ‘thank you’.

You were warned by Strauss that you would need to be prepared to leave to anywhere in the country at anytime. She mentioned that most of the team has a “go-bag” that they bring with clothing and spare toiletries. So you had brought yours in with you to stash in your desk.

Hoping that no one would say anything to you about what Hotchner had said, you set to work trying to make your desk more your own.

Shuffling through the drawers, you find an old desk tag and pull it out. Derek walks over to you; he had been watching you the whole time.

“Who is ‘Elle Greenaway’? Is she the previous agent that I’m filling in for?” You ask with curiosity.

“Um. Yes. She was. She was shot and killed three months ago.” His voice was solemn and instantly you regretted asking.

“Derek, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean-”

“I know. It’s okay. That’s probably why Hotch was acting so uptight about you being here in his office.” He patted you on the shoulder and wandered over to the coffee machine that no doubt made shitty coffee.

Something in your gut told you that was not why, but you appreciated the sentiment so you didn’t say anything as he left.

Letting out a long breath that you didn’t even know you were holding, you steel yourself and get to signing on the preliminary paperwork.

Can we talk about how dc treats Damian's character so poorly? They tell him that the way he was raised to view the world and the way he behaves are actually wrong and that he needs to change,but they do this in a safe way right? Like they show him he can trust on them and built a safe net to him and help him change gradually (which is the only way anyone who needs to change their entire life and worldview can do it cause we're not fucking machines who can just be rebooted when something goes wrong) and they try to give assistance to him in regards to his mental health that we can only assume is pretty damaged after all the abuse he certainly went through with the league right? NO, they just throw it at him that the way he behaves is wrong and has to change and the whole killing is wrong bs batman is always saying and leave it at that,let him figure it out how to change, give him some pep talks but when things get hard and he lashes out cause that's the only way he knows how to express what he's feeling you beat him up and you immediately show distrust in him the moment a corpse shows up,trust goes both ways,if you say to your kid that you trust them and immediately gets against them when something goes wrong you really expect them to trust,to believe in you? To feel safe with you? No wonder Damian went to that fucking competition he is in,what the hell does he have in Gotham to make him want to stay?

Now before I end my rant let's talk about the difference in how the fandom treats Cass in comparation to him, why do people keep treating her like a little uwu soft girl? Again,I'm not saying everyone does this,but I've seem it happen many times, she is a victim of trauma and she deserves respect,every person who has trauma is a fucking individual, they're not a trope,they're not edgy or quirky or baby🥺🥺 and they shouldn't be judged by the way they express themselves and their emotions after the shit they went through.

HHHH IVE BEEN WANTING TO GET INTO THAT FOR SO LONG- Buckle up Buttercup, here we go 👀 This is gonna be long because I've been holding this to myself for MONTHS. But also note, this isn't all the details. There's alot more, and i DO plan on writing/drawing alot of this out!!

The answer is... Kinda both! But definitely similar to the Dimitrescu sisters but with a /much/ longer fight!!

So, you know when you go to make the Large Gear in the Foundry? That's when you physically meet her. Beforehand you actually find a journal page or two that you know is obviously NOT Karls from difference of writing and the fact that she calls him 'Lord Heisenberg' in the first entry. (you can actually read all the entries you find here!! I wrote them out and posted to twitter~ uwu)

Anyway

When you go to make the gear, the casting machine... stopps. It gets stuck. Ethan, obviously, fuckin panicks- and then Emelia shows up. She actually simply brushes past him, unsticks the machine, and... hands him the gear.

See, despite watching her friends get fucking murdered by this man, she's still willing to try and HELP him because she knows their end goal is the same- kill Miranda. She also does NOT agree with Heisenbergs plan at ALL. She despises the idea of using a child, especially considering she's always wanted one of her own, and she straight up tells Ethan that. So she offers to help Ethan and talk to Heisenberg to change his plan so Rose is safe and, yknow, NOT used as a weapon, and they can all escape and Kill Miranda. Ethan actually agrees despite her saying she's also a Cadou mutant, and they almost shake hands on it;

Until he mentions killing Karl too.

But why? Well, to him, he sees a form of Stockholm syndrome. Which... I mean, yeah, kinda... Thats an understandable viewpoint if you've JUST met her and don't know their 30+ years of history. So he says, Kill Heisenberg, and she'll be free too.

That, uh... that doesn't go over well. It actually enrages her to the point of picking him up and throwing him across the Foundry, and before he can shoot her in defense, two Soldat Zwei appear and she runs off when they attack him. (They would actually USUALLY attack her too, but they don't this time... for a reason that I won't quite reveal yet. 😏 Its not exactly a fun reason, either, and one that's already made two people cry because I've only TOLD 2 people.)

You see more evidence of her around, more journals and whatnot, but you don't actually physically see her again until her fight starts. The problem? You do still fight Sturm. Sturm IS still a fight, and she's literally RIGHT after him. As in, when you get to the Lift to get to the surface to meet Karl again, she drops down infront of it, already partially mutated, and goes after you.

Her fight is a tad complex- You start off shooting, of course. Its pretty simple, but incredibly claustrophobic, because you're stuck in that small area until you shoot her enough so she stumbles over the edge;

And then she Fully mutates and jumps back up, and chases you down.

Thus starts the sequence which I like to call the 'Cat and Mouse' or 'Hide and Seek' sequence, where she's fully mutated and chases/forces Ethan BACK down a set route. The game mechanic here would be that there's set places you can hide (VERY much like the closet in Beneviento), and you HAVE to hide- if you don't, she WILL catch you, and she WILL kill you. After every successful Hide, you get a chance to Shoot. Fun fact, she's the only one who you are almost NOT safe in with the Duke, because she tries to get into the ficking elevator. She only doesn't because Duke is still there, but he will comment that you've 'angered the 'Lady' of the House'.

She pushes and pushes back until you get back to the Foundry or another large area, and then you FIGHT fight her again while she's still fully mutated. The usual shooting is involved until you get her weak enough to where she mutates back to the partial mutation, and then the events of 'A Crystal Heart' happen. (her running to find Karl, and her death) You then continue as normal, but as you're on the lift back up to the door, you hear... a scream. You hear Karl scream, because Emelia just died with him, and now he's going to fucking kill you.

And then you meet him again as usual and the game goes on as normal.

Also, when you kill Heisenberg, you get BOTH crystals- because her own crystal is in the 'chest' of his mutated form, because he didn't let it go the entire time. Giving them both to Duke at the same time will result in a similar comment to 'Romeo and Juliet, only together in death' as well as his normal comments about Heisenbergs crystal, and another comment about Emelias strength from her crystal.

So, she IS a 'mini' Boss, but also a pretty big boss at the same time because of how long you're fighting her! The big reason for the Hide and Seek is to give you a chance to get your health and ammo up and buy time since its literally right after Sturm.

You'll need the ammo. 😂

And yes, He looked at Tanaka and Noya the whole time because I swear they’ll simp for anything with two legs and a heartbeat 

Daichi doesn’t catch feelings for you right away though. He acknowledges that you’re pretty but it isn’t until you two slowly started to get to know each other more and more when Daichi realizes how hard he is falling for you

He’s sometimes a bit scared to make a move during volleyball practice since your dad is always like two feet away but you two share a class so you can bet your ass that he’s always sitting next to you and making up any excuse to talk to you

Ukai did realize deep down that Daichi was arguably the best option you had-He rather you be with Daichi than anyone else around your age group.

A part of Ukai knew that while he loved to see Daichi squirm, he really was a good guy and he just liked giving him a hard time 

“ Fine, have her home by ten.”

“ What about ten-thirty?” You asked as Daichi squeezed your hand and shook his head

“ No it’s okay, ten works just fine,” Daichi smiled back as Ukai couldn’t help but smirk because yep, you picked a good one 

Fast forward to your date and Daichi is outside your house dressed SO NICELY boy has a hot ass button up and everything 

And duh he has flowers for you he’s so cute I’m simping yall 

Obviously, Ukai opens the door and just shakes his head when he sees Daichi all nervous

“ No touching, I mean it kid. There has to be at least three feet between the two of you at all times and remember, if you ever hurt her I will personally bring a bat over to your house and-” 

“ Oh my god please stop, we’ll see you later!” You slip past your dad and grab Daichi’s arm to pull him down the driveway

“  I SAID NO TOUCHING!”

Okay so you know how I said that Coach Ukai wouldn’t be too opposed with you going out with Daichi? Yeahhhh Tanaka is definitely one of the guys he much rather you not go out with at all

I honestly think Ukai sees so much of his younger self in Tanaka and that freaks him out

ANYWAY Lets go to the beginning tho

Tanaka first knows that he is crushing hard on you when he said the stupidest joke in class and of course, you were the only one to laugh cause lets be real, your sense of humor is pretty shit thanks to the internet 

And tanaka is like “ mhm yes I’ll marry you now” cause bruh no one laughs at my mans jokes he is SLEPT ON 

You two start hanging out and pretty quickly, you both are crushing extra hard on each other. It’s only been maybe like a week or two and you two are so uwu with each other it’s insane

One day before practice, you give him a quick kiss outside of the gym but Tanaka is a certified Clingy Boy™ so he pulls you back in for another one that’s much longer 

“ WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING!” 

You both whip your heads around to find Coach Ukai with literal smoke coming out of his ears as he is glaring so hard at Tanaka 

Tanaka’s headass is like “oh im probably getting yelled at for PDA or maybe I lost track of time and I’m late to practice” but oh boy is he wrong

Idk if you guys collectively share one braincell or whatever but it just clicks now for you that “ oh shit, we are so fucked” 

“ Dad, I can explain-”

Tanaka doesn’t even hear the rest of the conversation like his brain shuts down when he hears you say the word Dad 

And he’s thinking in his head that maybe you just call coaches dad for some weird reason but no, Ukai is actually your dad

There’s so much yelling that the rest of the Karasuno members are outside of the gym doors listening in on the conversation because they’re nosey as hell 

Noya is definitely conflicted because heck yes, his boy is dating a female but he also wants to laugh because of course, Tanaka is having bad luck 

Suga thinks it is HILARIOUS 

But anyway

After a whole bunch of yelling, Ukai just says screw it and starts practice and you promise that you’ll talk to him at home but he makes you stay in the gym so he can take you straight home after

BRUH during the whole practice Tanaka does soooooo bad like hes nervous and he feels so guilty

Obviously, if he knew about your dad he would’ve planned it out much better and even ask for his blessing but it was too late to be worrying about what he could’ve done 

“  Don’t be hard on him please. I swear, it didn’t even click that you were his coach and I didn’t want to go behind your back like that,” You said as your dad sat down next to you on the bench as the boys did drills,” but you overreacted. You know he’s sensitive and he’s going to keep beating himself up about it.” 

“ How do you think I feel seeing my daughter kiss a boy? Why can’t you wait until you’re thirty to have a boyfriend? ” Ukai knew you were at the age where he couldn’t keep you away from boys but he was just so protective 

You were his only kid but because you were his daughter, it only complicated things

I already know Ukai raised such a big daddy’s girl (not in a weird way yall) and while he knows he raised you to be super strong, he just wants to protect you from heartache

“ I really like him and he makes me happy and I promise, we won’t even interact with each other if we are around you if it makes you uncomfortable.”

That wasn’t the most comforting thought to Ukai but he knew he was wrapped around your finger and that he would eventually cave in

It took some time for him to get used to the two of you being together. You two never went on any dates at first because Tanaka wanted to ease your dad into the idea of you two being together

But it wasn’t until Ukai saw how protective Tanaka was whenever you would come along to tournaments that Ukai started to feel better at the idea 

Like Tanaka would go FERAL if a guy even looked at you the wrong way and Ukai was secretly like “ yeah you tell em!” 

It was actually comforting to Ukai that you were dating someone who would literally lay their life on the line for you at any given moment because as your dad, he would do the same

So after a few weeks, it was actually Ukai who went up to Tanaka to talk about the two of you going on dates

“ You have my blessing but just know, if you even look at my daughter the wrong way, I will kill you, no questions asked.” 

Tanaka was actually relieved because to him, that was such an easy request. He couldn’t even imagine hurting you or ever making you upset so he was already thinking of date ideas once Ukai finished his sentence

“ Should I start calling you dad now?”

“ Don’t push it.”
