Seb HATES Xmas/Feast of the Winter Star.

Probably not that surprising. He's never really comfortable with family-oriented holidays and festivals because of his strained relationship with his own. With this time of year, he's made even more brutally aware of the favoritism and neglect when Maru is showered with praise and gifts while Sebastian feels like he's really just having his existence acknowledged.

Every year.

It's his most hated time of year, in fact. Not even the Flower Dance is as bad, to him. He isn't having those old wound rubbed with salt over and over. He does the bare minimum in participation and cringes if he gets anyone in his family as his assigned secret santa. He holes himself up in isolation more than usual, only coming out when he rly needs to.

In the verse where he's left home, this manifests as him staying in his motel room and aggressively ignoring the holiday around him. He doesn't want gifts, doesn't expect any, only to be left alone while those wounds are sore and tender.

It's probably when he rly Needs Someone the most, and yet he pulls away the hardest.

one trc opinion i have that i don't really have an entire explanation for is that i think blue and henry are the only characters with like a normal knowledge of pop culture. like they've seen movies they've heard music. henry definitely more than blue but despite the fact that blue's tastes would be more weird I DO think she knows about more mainstream things. she has heard top 40 radio she has watched a disney channel movie she is capable of making references. everyone else on the other hand? gansey is not aware of anything that came into being this century. adam gives strong 'doesn't listen to music' energy. you ask him what he likes and he's like i don't know. i just don't listen to music. ronan is probably the most perplexing case because we already know he had a weird fucking childhood in which he only read alice in wonderland (and i believe it) and YET in his routine in cdth he has a designated 'movie night'. It's interesting to me how helluva boss (and hazbin hotel) attract such passionate viewers, both fans and critics. I just watched sarcastic chorus's new video (and I honestly always enjoyed his reviews, even when I don't agree with them,) and it actually genuinely upset me a bit. And it made me think, why? Why do I care this much if this random person likes the show I like or not?

These shows honestly awaken something obsessive in me I haven't felt since I was like 14 haha, I care A LOT about them. So I guess even if I have some criticism here and there about some episodes, or even if people don't like it, it's amazing the creators managed to create something that makes people this passionate about it. People just can't seem to stay indifferent, and that's a HUGE accomplishment.

I honestly feel the need to defend this show as if it's my own child but I wouldn't do that since I think it's totally valid to dislike something, or have criticism about it, but just the fact that I have this urge and that I feel upset about the video he made is CRAZY to me
