Seb HATES Xmas/Feast of the Winter Star.

Probably not that surprising. He's never really comfortable with family-oriented holidays and festivals because of his strained relationship with his own. With this time of year, he's made even more brutally aware of the favoritism and neglect when Maru is showered with praise and gifts while Sebastian feels like he's really just having his existence acknowledged.

Every year.

It's his most hated time of year, in fact. Not even the Flower Dance is as bad, to him. He isn't having those old wound rubbed with salt over and over. He does the bare minimum in participation and cringes if he gets anyone in his family as his assigned secret santa. He holes himself up in isolation more than usual, only coming out when he rly needs to.

In the verse where he's left home, this manifests as him staying in his motel room and aggressively ignoring the holiday around him. He doesn't want gifts, doesn't expect any, only to be left alone while those wounds are sore and tender.

It's probably when he rly Needs Someone the most, and yet he pulls away the hardest.

one trc opinion i have that i don't really have an entire explanation for is that i think blue and henry are the only characters with like a normal knowledge of pop culture. like they've seen movies they've heard music. henry definitely more than blue but despite the fact that blue's tastes would be more weird I DO think she knows about more mainstream things. she has heard top 40 radio she has watched a disney channel movie she is capable of making references. everyone else on the other hand? gansey is not aware of anything that came into being this century. adam gives strong 'doesn't listen to music' energy. you ask him what he likes and he's like i don't know. i just don't listen to music. ronan is probably the most perplexing case because we already know he had a weird fucking childhood in which he only read alice in wonderland (and i believe it) and YET in his routine in cdth he has a designated 'movie night'. found an old barebones fic regarding a metasusie fan kid in my notes app & wanted to expand on this fan kid a bit more:

maxim knight (his full name is maxim knight haltmann but he's typically known as max, a loving nickname given by susie & mk)

his appearance is very reminiscent of haltmann, but notably the version where star dream possessed haltmann via max's yellow eyes --other than that though he's has a slightly darker, different shade of purple hair (his appearance is largely influenced by mk's traits) & his outfit consists of mainly vertical stripes

i imagine he has mk's short temper & susie's haughtiness but also mk's strong sense for justice & susie's hidden caring nature

susie & mk are lowkey obsessed with him (like most parents are with their children)-- susie wants to support him in whatever he's interested in so she can give him the best childhood she can & mk wants to affectionately turn him into a miniature killing machine under the guise of self defense. this ultimately turns max into someone with a massive enjoyment for forging weapons in which he brands a signature gold maxim tomato on (however, instead of a large M, it's an MH)

his favorite food is tomato ice cream with hot fudge susie makes during the summer & his favorite item is a small gold dagger mk gifted him when he turned 5

in terms of relationships besides his parents, he views kirby, bandana dee, & sailor dee as his older siblings, as by the time max is 8, they should be around their midteens, kirby being the youngest of the three

regarding his lifecycle since mk is a millennia old man who somehow appears in his late twenties while susie's lifecycle is akin to a normal human (her hc species is a battery made out of flesh however), i imagine max will start aging much more slowly when he turns around 30 (unlike mk or kirby who began aging slowly once they turned around 15) & only live half of what mk will-- so max will die before his father does.

that is never fun news for a father. watching your wife & child die before you is not fun at all. YAHOOOOOOOOOOO
