I want to make it clear from the outset that having headcanons or theories is not a problem. Getting frustrated when they don't come true is not a problem either. But it is when people treat these headcanons as if Nintendo had an obligation to fulfill them.
I find it genuinely funny how some fans got so deep into their headcanons to the point of getting angry at the existence of Yona (poor girl) and the fact that Sidon is in a straight relationship, but that doesn't surprise me coming from people who claim to fight against stereotypes but are the ones who live and propagate stereotypes the most (the amount that most of the queer people I've met have been bugging me about being bisexual and aromantic is unbelievable).
I mean, as if canon would stop fujoshis from turning all the men in a series gay, no matter their sexuality, way of behaving or if they're in a relationship or not, so I don't understand why they say that Nintendo "removed the queer coding" when this was just a hc, Nintendo never implied that Sidon was queer, if they had said something like "a Zelda character will be queer" I could even understand, but that wasn't the case.
Now, in my opinion, the way Sidon talks and treats Link reminds me a lot of how my sister acts with the BTS boys, I think Sidon has a very idealized vision of Link, he talks about Link as if he were his favorite Marvel superhero and if we take into account that Link doesn't even seem to have frequented the Zora Region much during the time between Botw and Totk and that his ring doesn't even go on his ring finger.... anyway, it was cool to see Sidon's maturity, although his behavior is adorable, he's not a baby anymore.
I admit that Yona's introduction came out of nowhere, but honestly, TOTK introduces and disappears characters out of nowhere, Kass simply disappeared from the map, NPCs forgot about Link and the whole story of Sonia and Rauru also came out of absolutely nowhere. If Yona was the only one in this situation I would give her the benefit of the doubt, but that's not the case.
Not to mention that for a game ""with a hetero code"" I wonder why Nintendo didn't confirm right away that Link and Zelda are a couple instead of just saying this, I swear, how hard is it to formalize them? People will complain about anything, but no, Nintendo is afraid of I don't know what.
I will never forgive Nintendo for taking away the possibility of Zelda being a companion in the adventure or at least having a more constant presence. Thanks to that, I am living off of fanfics and fanarts.
P. S.: I wonder, if we ever get a remake of OoT, if Nintendo gives Malon a husband or canonizes OoT Zelink, how the fandom will react to that?
P. S. S.: Also, since people still complain to this day that TotK didn't turn Ganondorf into a "uwu boy who's just a poor victim of circumstances", a theory fueled by the appearance that the 10,000-year-old Hero had on the tapestry is because Ganondorf is a sexy man.
Although, on this last point I have to be honest, I was disappointed with the fact that Nintendo basically threw away the cinematics from the first TotK trailer and basically ignored the Sheikah technology, everything that Botw had hinted about the Zonai and the whole story of the Calamity from 10,000 years before Botw.
Anyway, it's just a question of how this fandom takes headcanons as if they were an absolute truth, and this ends up causing unnecessary fights because no one wants to admit that their hc may be unlikely to happen.
But that's just my opinion. Thank you for reading.

New fan of LU? Welcome!! I noticed Wild was your favorite, why? I love him too—and he was my favorite at the start, Esp since he was the only one's game that I had played at the time—but honestly all the characters are fighting for the nr.1 spot in my head... Outside of Hyrule, I just haven't gotten into my Hyrule phase yet. But likely soon lol.
hihi hello!! very happy to be here!! alr time for me to pick my own thought processes what dictates who my favorite character is is how much inspiration they give me. and wild gives me a LOT of inspiration wild is like a coloring book to me. yeah sure, there's an outline (that being info given in the games/comics) but really the details are up to whoevers making em and i LOVE that!! whether wild's a scaredy cat, absolutely terrifying in battle, an eldritch being, literally just Some Guy, a chaotic arsonist, or someone whos very hush hush about everything, i love it all. i'm usually either very VERY picky about characterizations or i enjoy putting them into situations to see how characters would change, and wild is a very good base for the latter! wild is a character with a shit ton of potential, and the fact that hes ALSO been through the absolute wringer adds onto that (gotta love that angst) (other things that can dictate how much i love a character is chemistry to other characters, or hell even vibes!! kass is UP THERE in my faves for that very reason!) outside of just like. the pure amount of ideas that wild spawns for me, botw is the first switch game i ever owned, and also the only zelda game i properly own. the first ever lu fic i read was wild centric and i latch onto first impressions a LOT idk wild is the Guy ever and i love em for it. i also absolutely adore the others but wild specifically makes me giggle and kick my feet
#khol.txt#khol.pdf#legend of zelda#linked universe#lu wild#live loz reaction#trauma.chain#gods i need to fix my tagging woops#anyway this isnt like. a character study at ALL i just see a silly guy and i clap at the tomfoolery

Tears of the Kingdom - Initial Thoughts
Can it be called initial thoughts if I've already played, like, 12 hours of it at least? We'll go with that anyway.
I'm going to put most of it beneath the cut, but here I'll just say: it is good. If you were worried at all that exploring Hyrule specifically would not be fun, it is extremely fun and I'm having a blast.
For reference of how far I am: I decided I would get one part of the main quest done before doing serious exploration. I've been to Castle Town, underground a couple times, have done one thing with Impa's quest, and I'm pretty far in the Rito Village quest line.
The opening cutscene was so good, I really love that they had Link have a million hearts, only for them to be ripped away. And Zelda! I love her so much, she got so excited over the murals! I hope there's more chances to see her nerd out.
I'm really unsure what to think about Rauru. I love his design, he has a nice voice, like overall I really love him, to be honest! But, his character profile is annoyingly vague, and I can't shake the feeling he might try and betray us at some point.
The sky islands are really cool! I feel like Nintendo really noticed how much people liked climbing shit, and so much of the game feels geared towards that.
The different runes are interesting. I thought that we'd have the new runes in addition to the old runes. I miss some of the old runes (bombs and statis specifically) but also I see how that would just lead to much the same, and by not giving them back, it keeps the game fresh and allows the devs to put in different puzzles.
'Castle Town' (I can't remember the name right now) is wonderful. The world in general feels so full of people, so full of life. I love talking to literally everybody that I can. 'Castle Town' being built over the old ceremony place (from the cutscene where Link is kneeling in front of Zelda) I think is a good example of the mentality of the rebuilding project - make use of everything, even the things that were once deemed 'sacred', for the good of furthering Hyrule. Seeing people growing up is so neat! I am confused as to how Purah got so old - it seems like most of the kids are teens now, but she looks like an adult - but I'm guessing maybe she just ages faster than the rest? Her new assistant Josha is so cute too!! What a nerd I love her!
The plot so far is a lot more engaging and a lot more of mystery, trying to figure out what it is Zelda is doing and exactly what it is you're supposed to be doing.
Shout out to my girl Traysi, running a newspaper and selling the best armor! For real, that was an offer you couldn't refuse. I am missing Kass, we haven't seen him at all :(
There's also a lot of small things I'm really appreciating, like the music in the shrines and their aesthetic, the fact that your have all your horses from you BotW profile if you're playing on the same account. The world feels like the same Hyrule, but so changed, so new still, and I'm excited to re-explore it, honest to goodness. And to check in on my old friends, see how they're doing! Even small side characters are remembered; I got insanely excited over seeing Oliff.
The bottom line is, I'm enjoying this game a lot. I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later, and more critiques after I've gotten more used to it. Right now one is that going through your items can be a little hard to find what you're looking for in a relatively fast manner. Also I feel like I always have so many already fused items - like pre-fused before I even get them - that it makes it hard to find weapons that I can fuse with items.
I'm still going through the Rito questline, but I love Tulin! Favorite little boy <3<3<3

This. At the very least, DLC that has elements of this. The Champion’s Ballad for BotW was good but it only expanded on the story of the past (and Link’s relationship with Kass, which I love). It didn’t do anything for post-game Hyrule, because there is no post game. Like every Zelda but the Oracles, there’s just no post game. It felt excusable with how linear previous games were, but less so now.
So please, Nintendo, use DLC to give TotK a vibrant postgame. Have Link, Zelda, and the Sages work together to further integrate the various peoples of Hyrule. Have us turn Lookout Landing into its own permanent settlement, and/or rebuild Castle Town. Expand on Link’s relationships with the sages and other characters he interacts with. Or anything that saberkite said above. God I’d love that.
Oh yeah and fucking bring back Kass! He was easily my favorite side character and I miss him dearly. It was such a delight any time he showed up. What if he comes back with a whole bunch of songs that Link and Zelda use as clues to learn more about Hyrule’s history? He could play a similar role as to in BotW. I just wanna see him play the accordion for his daughters to sing to again, man. Kass rules.
I really like the decision to set TotK a few years after BotW, as opposed to the few months we’re used to in direct Zelda sequels. It gave the world a substantial amount of time to change. Hyrule is livelier. In the years of relative peace since Calamity Ganon was vanquished, it’s been allowed to grow and thrive. Hateno Village, the largest Hylian settlement, is becoming economically significant as a tourist destination and food supplier. It’s especially cool to see Riju, Tulin, and Kass’s kids mature into their adult/teenage years, respectively.
Building on that, I think it’s neat that Link is in his early twenties now. This is the oldest Link we’ve ever played as (Skyward Sword held the previous record at 17.5 y/o). He’s had time to adjust to life post-calamity. His traumatic mutism seems to be all but gone. You ever notice just how much he talks in this game? Dialogue options galore, he’s constantly explaining things to other characters, all that. And he’s more expressive, too. He outright laughs when he fuses weapons.
Link’s relationship with Zelda has also had time to grow. Guys. Fellas. Broskis. They live in the same house. In which there is only one bed. They are together. The implication here is that they share most of their meals together, and remember, it’s key to his characterization that he opens up emotionally when he’s cooking or eating. That means there has been a lot of quality bonding time between them.
Before and during the Calamity, Link served as Zelda’s royal bodyguard because the king demanded it of him. Given how he went mostly mute from the pressure of being entrusted with the princess’s safety and being chosen as the Hylian Champion (at age 17, mind you), I’d wager he didn’t particularly like the assignment until he started bonding with her. He looks downright sad when she snaps at him in that one memory at the shrine. Hell, he doesn’t smile once in the memories.
But you know what? I get the feeling that Link protects her now not out of duty like he used to, but out of love. That’s powerful because “love conquers all” and all that, but also, there’s no external pressure to be her bodyguard. Until the Upheaval, he was done being a special little hero. He was just a swordsman, but he still went where Zelda went to protect her. So instead of being crushed by that pressure, protecting her is an expression of his love for her. It’s a choice and he’s doing it because he wants to, not because it was forced on him.
That’s a lot of growth to go through, and it was paced over several years. He doesn’t appear to have aged much, but enough time has passed that Hudson has a daughter who can hold a mature conversation. That’s what, 5 years old? Yeah, Link is in his early twenties. Fucking finally, the task of saving the world falls on the shoulders of an adult (although speaking as someone entering his mid-twenties, that honestly isn’t much better).
I’m starting to ramble here so I’ll leave a parting observation of Link and Zelda’s house in Hateno. Zelda has redecorated a fair bit since moving in with Link, replacing his weapon racks with photos of her horse and various Hyruleans (her subjects who she cares deeply for), but the photo of her, Link, and the Champions is still up. And that’s really cute.

kinda dead horse I’m beating here but I still have some Opinions™ about Age of Calamity that I just feel like sharing. Spoilers ahead, of course - also it’s long fjkdsjgk
Age of Calamity was cool in the beginning, but for me, it didn’t take long before the novelty wore off.
Don’t get me wrong, of the mainline series BOTW is my absolute favorite. I loved the story, I loved the characters, really everything about it. I get that at the time, BOTW was kind of the “it” thing so they were like “ah, let’s make the next Warriors title BOTW-centric!” but it really feels like less of a Warriors game and more like BOTW 1.5, with some Warriors elements sprinkled in it.
The story was fine - I thought the new villain was kind of clichéd but it makes me think of the older Zelda games where the Dragon to Ganon really was just some evil magic guy. I like that there’s more interaction between the Champions because we didn’t get to see a whole lot in BOTW, and I think the explanation for how you can have the ancestors/successors fight alongside them works fine in the context of the story (that is, it doesn’t feel like a total ass-pull like when some games go “oh!! suddenly time travel!!” or something)
The gameplay was neat, characters have their own gimmicks like in the first HW which I like, it makes them stand out more and gives them some extra utility in certain scenarios. Some of them were kind of tricky to wrap my head around, like Zelda with the Sheikah Slate and the Great Fairies but overall I liked how characters played.
I wasn’t a fan of how keeps/outposts weren’t named or made too terribly distinct on the map - but maybe I’m just misremembering that part. Also kind of nitpicky but I didn’t like how elemental rod usage carried over between battles. Made it kind of a hassle to remember where I could pick up more uses and go out of my way to refill it there, before going into another battle where it was easier to use the rods. I would have liked if they reset after each battle but meh. I also feel like the smithy in this game was either too complicated or too far removed from how it worked in the first HW, and I definitely didn’t get the most out of it like I should have, but maybe that’s just me being bad at reading comprehension or my brain going “less thinky thinky, more hacky slashy” adskjf
I think I was most disappointed when it came to the roster. To be fair, you can’t have a BOTW-centric Warriors game without the essential characters - Link Zelda the champions, their successors, etc. But I think there was a lot of missed opportunity as well. Some characters I didn’t fully expect but was happy we got, like King Rhoam, Hestu, Master Kohga, Purah/Robbie. I ended up loving Terrako and Sooga as well. Maz Koshia was neat and I get where they were going, but he’s kind of... there. kdjfhj
I knew that playable Ganon would be hard to incorporate this time around due to the fact that in BOTW he was an absolutely massive abomination, but something about his design and his gameplay this time around just didn’t sit right with me. Maybe it was his unique mechanic, maybe it was the fact that he reminded me of OOT Ganon if someone on deviantart made an edgy recolor of him, or the fact that his inclusion tacked on at the end really made it seem like an afterthought. And honestly, we really could have done without the Battle-Tested Guardian - that one absolutely felt like an ass-pull, and wasn’t very fun to play as.
Entirely personal preference here, but I would have loved for us to get a Lethal Joke Character™ similar to Tingle in the first HW - my vote would have gone to either Beedle or Kilton. I think it’s such a missed opportunity for them to not have included Kass, but maybe they just didn’t want a third Rito? And I can’t fathom why they didn’t make Astor playable when he’s very much an integral part of the story, whole moveset programmed when you fight him and everything... I remember getting excited for Cia/Volga/Wizzro in HW when they finally became playable so I was kind of expecting the same here.
I also would have liked more dialogue for things like getting x amount of kills, capturing a keep, that kind of stuff, or more dialogue between specific characters outside of just the roster, but I can guess a few reasons why they didn’t add more of that. There’s already a metric fuckton of dialogue in the game as a whole, and the backlog for the little messages getting in the way of triggering certain events was probably a big complaint in the first. And also, maybe they didn’t want to bother giving Link a companion to talk for him so they just cut out anything that could be said on his behalf dkjhfg.
There’s more stuff I could ramble about - like the material system, the lack of costumes for just about everyone except Link... but I think this post is long enough. I also still have lots of wishes about the roster in the first HW but that’s an even DEADER horse.
Speaking of the first HW though, I’ve actually been revisiting it recently, and... I feel sad that for such an old game, I’m still enjoying it more than AoC, even after investing countless hours into the latter. Like, even to this day I haven’t 100%’d HW (granted there were long gaps of not playing, but still), and there’s so much replayability. But I pre-ordered AoC, and even before the DLC came out, I literally only had like 1 more sidequest before there was nothing new to for me to do.
Anyway, I complain too much about games that aren’t really relevant anymore - I should probably try to get to bed at a decent hour tonight.

How about BotW Link for the character ask?
favorite thing about them
Other than the emotional depth (I'm being serious) and the selective mutism representation probably the fact that he looks good in every single outfit you could come up with. It's almost ridiculous how good-looking he is. Everyday I wake up and he's still FICTIONAL anyway
least favorite thing about them
I guess that Nintendo refused to do anything more than the bare minimum in Age of Calamity. He's a person, not a doll. Show some respect and let him emote. I get that he doesn't show his emotions and readily as the others but he could have at least said the other people's names in AoC. Give him lines and respect his outspokenness post-calamity in botw 2 or else
favorite line
Okay you got me there but this is Nintendo's fault.
However, I can tell you what my favorite line of his that I've written recently and it's this one:
“Here, take it,” Link said, and only then did Zelda hesitate in her anger. “I don’t want it. I don’t deserve it. You do. You put in the work. The damned work that almost just killed you!”
brOTP
Sidon? probably. Also Kass and Teba. He made a lot of friends on his journey!
OTP
Zelda!! (of course)
nOTP
most ships I can tolerate but I guess a notp for botw link would be other Links. Sorry I just don't get it...
random headcanon
Uhh idk he really likes baking and would have chosen that if not for the sword but I feel like everyone agrees with that so I don't know if that's unique enough to count
unpopular opinion
Probably that he needs voice acting AND NO NOT LIKE THE CARTOONS YOU'RE NOT FUNNY. Like voice acting taken seriously
song i associate with them
"Strangers Like Me" and "Son of Man" by Phil Collins (they fit so well for post-Shrine of Resurrection Link!!!)
favorite picture of them
It changes daily but:
Thanks for the ask!!

🖊 + Eris
Eris! Gosh I haven’t thought too much for them in a while. But I love them!
So the basics for Eris is that they were an Air Force pilot who woke up in botw Link’s body. For the story, I hc that Link died but his body was healed and fixed and technically alive. Eris’ soul was pulled into Link’s body and they took over it.
Eris doesn’t remember their name and many other details from Before. They knows they’re not this Link guy though. After a while, they renamed themself Eris after the Greek goddess of chaos.
Eris from Before was a female, but also was questioning and felt no inclination for male or female. Link’s body is male (in this world), so it was a bit unsettling for a while and took some time to adjust.
Eris is very adamant that they’re not the Hero Link and refuses to respond or act like it. They will help people in need and defend themselves and others, but for now, that’s it.
The Rito race are Eris’ favorite and the ones they relates the most to. Eris spends most of their time there and basically becomes an unofficial Rito. They have they hugest crush on Kass (cmon! He’s a bard for goddess sake!) and his wife. Eris also has a (very hated) crush on Revali. (Don’t bring it up or you’ll regret it)
Eris takes to having different hairstyles and colors inspired by the cultures of Hyrule. They also get some piercings and tattoos that are from Before and from Hyrule. @clearwillow designed some a while back form for Eris.
My dear friend @therevolutionisbored made an adorable character and companion for Eris that basically they adopt and help Eris. Fee is a precious adorable baby. My friend could probably give more details about them ;)

ok i still havent gotten the secret ending but farming for it might take me a bit so im gonna make a thoughts post for age of calamity now:
Major spoilers obvs so ill put it under a read more
things i enjoyed:
revali beatdown simulator
the controls for the divine beasts are a bit clunky, but i think the angles they used for them did an excellent job at really making the player feel like we were actually controlling a divine beast. so i think it was done well.
link’s personality really gets to shine full force in this game with the amount of cut scenes and it was wonderful to see
every character clearly had a lot of love put into how they operate. they truly all feel unique, & all of their play styles fit them really well in my opinion
the game does a really good job of making you understand what a real threat the monsters are. like in botw they’re intimidating at first, but once you’re far enough into the game they become just an inconvenience to work around if anything. this game managed to actually make certain monsters intimidating for me again, and i think that’s a real accomplishment
the blight battles are actually somewhat challenging in this game and that is truly a commendable achievement lol i think all the bosses are good tbh. i didnt rly dislike or not enjoy any of them.
the way daruk and link’s friendship & urbosa’s motherly relationship towards zelda got to shine was. so good. it’s all i could’ve ever wanted
seeing the descendants again was really nice & it was awesome to see the champions interacting with them!! especially sidon and mipha omggggg. that was. really fucking good shit
kohga. just. kohga in general. getting to see more of him was really rad, he’s such a fun guy! and his english va was Excellent. you could really tell he was having a lot of fun playing him, and it was lovely to see! :)
zelda getting to really shine in this game was also lovely to see. and her being so assertive and badass by the end? omg. it was so wonderful especially after botw. man.
the combat is done very well imo. im rly glad that they took so many elements from botw, but also added their own flares to make it feel fresh. it was rad.
sidon’s tagline is “winning smile” and his power is “boundless optimism” and i think that’s beautiful
the music in this game is SOOOOO good oh my god. multiple times during playing i had to pause to just appreciate it. it’s pretty much all remixes of botw with a few originals for the new characters, but they all slap. there was not a single song in this game i didn’t like. it is definitely one of my favorite video game soundtracks officially. maybe one of my favorite overall soundtracks in general tbh.
the visuals obviously look just like botw, but it still looked fucking gorgeous at some points. like. man. they really went off to make it look not only faithful to botw as far as appearance goes, but also as far as capturing botw’s beauty and it was. excellent to see!
if anything is true to botw’s backstory, it’s definitely how op link is. cause he was established to be op in botw, & when u finish botw he is also op as hell. he is so fun to play as the higher leveled he gets. he absolutely kicks ass. especially with a two-handed weapon??? daaaaammmmnnn. thats my badass baby boy!!!!
link eating rocks not once, but TWICE. just showing PEAK gremlin energy. 10/10 for those scenes they were great
the ending was really beautiful actually and i did cry like a little baby for it what about it
things i didn’t like:
obviously first and foremost.. this is not the game we were advertised. and no matter how much i overall enjoyed the game, it will always have some layer of being tainted attached to it due to the false advertising. this is not the prequel we thought we’d be getting. & not using “prequel” specifically doesn’t matter when all the advertising, including the box art talks about this being the story of what happened 100 years ago. with no indication it wasn’t the story of what happened 100 years ago in the botw timeline, but a separate universe/timeline entirely. i do hope we get dlc for the game at some point giving us what we were advertised, but at the same time... rly wish that the story that’s in the final game was dlc, & the story we were promised was the original :/ or just having the game have two separate storylines originally would’ve been cool. i just wish it wasn’t falsely advertised.
fort hateno can fucking eat my whole entire shit WHY is that part so needlessly obnoxious compared to everything else oh my god
being forced to fulfill revali’s power fantasy TWICE hurt my soul
fuck any mission where you have to protect the useless hylian guards. i hate them. they suck.
the ai for player characters when you aren’t playing as them can also be pretty useless. it was really frustrating failing missions because my fellow party members weren’t helping me, and i was basically expected to be in two places at once to get shit done myself. :/ ik you can just switch between characters to make it easier, but like. i like playing as link the most. he’s my favorite character, & ofc since he’s mandatorily played for most of the story, he’s gonna be the most leveled up character regardless so he’s just the best to play as in general especially for harder missions. it was annoying to be forced to play as other people Solely cause the ai was so useless.
king rhoam’s attempt at a redemption arc. i’m not sorry that i just fucking hate this man. i don’t mind him entirely in botw bc you can see clear, genuine remorse during the cut scene at the end of the great plateau. but the redemption arc he gets in this game? after all the fucking shit he does in this game? especially when after his ~redemption arc~ i had to sit through a cut scene of him being an absolute fucking asshole to baby zelda after her mother just died????? absolutely fuck that shit. i don’t appreciate that crap at fucking all. he’s a verbally abusive piece of shit and i hate his guts.
obviously there was gonna be some retconning of how certain things worked in botw in order to make this kinda game work but the way sheikah technology works in this game is so goddamn confusing i do not get it. the works of botw are never outright said or explained completely, but it’s straightforward enough that it doesn’t really matter. this game does try to explain certain things and it just becomes. really clunky and confusing very quickly.
the story is alright, i guess, but..... really confusing/convoluted as hell at times to a point that it’s. really fucking distracting. especially in comparison to how straightforward botw’s story is. like..... cannot help but be annoyed that such a problem wouldn’t have been a thing if they stuck to botw’s story.
i was sad when the egg thing died but i dont like the egg thing.... it is the MAIN reason shit was retconned so much & i just. dont get its purpose. but i did really like the reveal that zelda made it herself. that was good shit!
also the egg glitched out like. a LOT. idk what the fuck was going on with the poor thing but there was multiple times during a cut scene or when i was just sitting there that it was freaking out in the background and it was rly weird
elemental overworld boss monsters................. obnoxious. especially elemental guardians like goddamn bro what the fuck
i know warriors’ games aren’t about exploring anyway but the limitations for exploring was really sad/frustrating. this is still somewhat the world of hyrule before the calamity, which is something we’ve always wanted to see. not being able to explore even the immediate area at certain points because of shit like timed missions was really upsetting, man. :( i just wanted to see hyrule castle Before the calamity why was did they have to rob us like that.....
creepy corrupted egg’s transformation. why. what was that. what the fuck
even though i did enjoy the boss fights, it did get. incredibly taxing eventually to have to fight the SAME bastards so many times. like yeah botw is also guilty of this with the blights, but goddamn.... at least i have a choice to avoid certain encounters with them? this game has you fighting the same bitches like upwards of 3-4 times. it was. really annoying tbh. like the fights themselves are enjoyable, but damn we added new characters and it still inevitably lacked variety in boss fights.
no playable kass >:( if he’s available later in dlc then fine but i wish he was playable in the original game. so many random choices you’d never expect are. why couldn’t he also be there >:(
overall:
it will forever have that sour taste for the false advertising attached to it unfortunately, but that aside, i overall did enjoy the game! i think it has a lot to love in spite of the issues i encountered. as someone who has this as their first warriors game as well, it did lend itself to letting me see the appeal of them. idk if i’ll get more, but i do get why they’re so beloved/popular now. it was an alright time, with some amazing highlights that i’m gonna think back on very fondly for a very, very long time. if i had to rate it..... 7/10
#hw#aoc#hw aoc#hyrule warriors#age of calamity#legend of zelda#botw#danni plays hw aoc#mine#long post#v long post sorry lol i have so many thoughts/feelings

Things in botw 2 I think would be fun because I adore the first one but would have loved it more if it had these things, in no particular order:
Being able to decorate your house. While I love being able to buy a house from a story perspective. The implication this house was once links home and it's a place he can come back to on his adventures. Aside from displaying your favorite weapons and having a free place to rest and heal, there isn't much other incentive to get the house. I think it would be a fun thing to do on the side, replacing the default furniture with things you want to make the place your own, a place you can truly call home.
Building character relationships. Botw has so many lovable and well designed characters. I adore Sidon, Riju, Kass, Paya, etc. I just want more of them. I want to be able to give them gifts and hang out with them and build friendship. I may be out adventuring most of the time, but when I stop by town I want to talk to my favorite characters and not just get the same dialogue over and over again.
You can already do so much customizing of link in the game from changing his outfit and dyeing it. I would only go one step up and change his hairstyles too. I know some of the headgear also changes his hair. But maybe I want to have his hair down as the default, or braided. Hell maybe even let Link wear makeup. The gerudo has such colorful eyeshadow and lipsticks, let link wear that. Or the sheikah face paint, or Zora inspired looks. Go nuts!
#thinking outloud#botw#breath of the wild#link#botw link#loz#loz link#these aren't make or break things for me#i just think they're fun#i love customizing and character building things and i love the characters in this game so much

New Hyrule Warriors Characters I’d Love to See
So for stress relief lately, I’ve been going back to Hyrule Warriors Definitive, unlocking all the weapons and working on finishing the adventure maps. So of course, this put it in my head to think of other characters I’d like to see if a theoretical HW2 happened, like, keep the cast and add on to it as most Warriors games tend to do. So here are some I’d love to see.
Groose
C’mon, he needs to be in. Myself, I’ve never played Skyward Sword (rumors of it getting a Switch port make me hopeful), so I don’t know TOO much about him other than his hair’s amazing. Kit suggested he have a portable Groosinator for his weapon, a cannon he carries under his arm, and for sweeping attacks could swing it outward by its fuse.
Dampe
He’s been in a few games now, and there’s a fitting common LoZ item he could use for his weapon that hasn’t been referenced at all in HW : the Shovel. Obviously he could swing it around, swipe it through the air for attacks, but over on my Twitter, it was suggested we could reference his “gravekeeper” job by having him dig up undead type enemies for support, like Stalfos, Poes, and Redeads.
Mipha
One has to figure a HW2 would add some BotW content, and for starters, I’d love to see the four champions. I mean, hey, HW is all about time and dimension bending shenanigans, so I’m sure we can excuse having them around and alive. I could see Mipha actually having more of a “support” type special attack. They’ve done things like this in Dynasty Warriors before. Like, she’d have a spear based moveset for her weapon based on her trident (BUT GANONDORF ALREADY HAS A TRIDENT, eh, some warriors have similar weapons with different movesets, so I think we can get away with it). But I could see her special attack doing some damage, but also healing allies around herself.
Revali
Yep, continuing on. Thing is, while the Bow is an item, and does show up in a few other movesets here and there (Zelda’s special attack, part of Ravio’s combos), we don’t have anyone that SPECIALIZES in just using a bow, so he could fill that niche nicely. I’m sure there’s some way to work his Revali’s Gale power into the moveset, likely his special.
Daruk
The trick would be making him different enough from Darunia, but he does have a totally different weapon in that sort of “club sword” he carries, forget exactly what it was named in game. He too could probably use his power in a support way, granting a defense buff to allies in the area where he uses it.
Urbosa
I could see her having a nice, fluid attack string with her scimitar, elegant and dance-like. Naturally her special would have her snap her fingers and call down lightning.
Kass
.......What? Warriors games are no stranger to silly “joke” characters, and honestly I love the idea of running across the battlefield as a large bird and clobbering enemies with an accordion.
Beedle
He’s been in enough of the games to where I feel like he deserves to get in. I’m admittedly not quite sure what he’d do though. I mean, we have Ravio, showing the idea of a fighting merchant can work, but Beedle’s stock doesn’t really have much in the way of weapons or such, does it?
Linebeck
I honestly thought we were going to get him in the Phantom Hourglass / Spirit Tracks DLC pack. He just seems like someone who should be there, you know? I’d guess his weapon would be his spyglass, though as to how it would work, I’m at a loss there.
Shad
The Resistance from Twilight Princess struck me as having some interesting characters, and Shad was my personal favorite. He does have that book with a dagger in it, I could see him using the book to put buffs on himself for his dagger attacks or something.
Ashei
I also really liked Ashei’s style, again we have the “similar weapons” deal, but her focused nature I think could lend itself to a different form of rapier fighting.
Vaati
Obviously we could also use more villains, and I feel like Vaati’s probably a major enough one to get a nod. Admittedly I haven’t played many of the games where he featured, so I don’t remember that much about him, but he’s just one of those that feels like he should be there.
Twinrova
One of the rare instances where there’s a boss that’s probably humanoid enough to work as a warrior, I could see her having fire and ice attacks as different charges in her attack string.
The Lady
Because hey, the villain side could use a joke character too. I feel like The Lady from Tri Force Heroes would fit the bill here, rapid jabs with her closed parasol, lines mocking the lack of style of her opponents, possibly even moves referencing the powers of some of the costumes from the game.
Also, two new weapons I’d like to see for existing characters :
Sheikah Slate for Sheik
One could make the case that it would be more fitting for Link or Zelda to use it, but, eh. they already both have multiple weapons. Sheik just has her harp. And I mean, technically Sheik IS Zelda, sooooo.... I think it would be fun for her to have attack strings casting runes from the slate, using Magnesis to pull out metal cubes and sweep them around for attacks, Stasis for her special, Bombs of course, I feel like there’s a lot they could do with it.
Four Sword for Toon Link
Really I just like the idea of controlling a mob of four Toon Links running around in different formations. Perhaps a neutral charge would change their formation a bit. Either that or the clones would just jump in during parts of attack strings or something.

I love this bird! I'm playing BOTW for a second time because the quarantine has blessed me with lots of free time and this game is just amazing! I can't get enough of it. So one of my favorite characters is Kass, and I specially love a happy Kass. I find it pretty endearing that he gets all lighten up when you want to listen to the hero song EVERY TIME you find him on a stable! is so cute! He is so passionate about singing and I love the fact that he is keeping a promise to his master.
I wanted to draw a very happy Kass singing and playing his accordion, I wanted to capture that feeling ^^
Painted with Watercolor on normal paper and ink markers and pens.

Series meme: Xenoblade chronicles 1 (obviously X'D) and Legend of Zelda?
Unfortunately someone beat you to Xenoblade, but I’ll give Zelda a try! Disclaimer: my only personal knowledge/experience of LoZ comes from Breath of the Wild, which I still haven’t finished.
Series Meme
Favorite character: I quite like BotW Link, though this is almost certainly because he’s meant to be an everyman. He’s the literal player avatar, which means I can headcanon/project onto him however I damn well please. I just want to be strong and silent and mysterious and ride horses and wear cool clothes; is that too much to ask? (WAIT NO WHO AM I KIDDING, Kass is my favorite. Accordion Man, take me by the hand (and teach me accordion please))
Second favorite character: I love love love Urbosa and Sidon.
Least favorite character: I don’t know that I dislike any particular character?? Enemy-wise I’m real tired of the Yiga Clan and Lynels.
The character I’m most like: Pre-Ganon Zelda, maybe?? I’m not really sure.
Favorite pairing: Link/Sidon is extremely valid even if I don’t really seek out content for them. Link/Zelda is also cool, though I tend to read it as more queerplatonic than outright romantic.
Least favorite pairing: I was never super into Link/Mipha, but damn if Mipha’s theme doesn’t make me tear up every time.
Favorite moment: While I don’t care for Zelda’s English VA, Captured Memory 13 (“Slumbering Power”) really got me, especially considering how chummy Link and Hylia seem throughout the whole game. I felt so bad for Zelda. I also loved the Colony Six Tarrey Town quest.
Rating out of 10: 10/10. This game is sprawling, difficult, beautiful, and unforgettable. It’s the first big game I ever played and I hope I get the opportunity to finish it one day.

1-6!
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
i have a bunch of projects going on right now!!! two original long stories (both horror), a short story for patreon, a short story to maybe try and publish and a handful of fic ideas (one for final fantasy, one for botw, and some tma stuff). i just like fucking around and finding out i think
2.Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
what’s better than this, boys being sad and getting hugs & kisses?
3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
i have a lot??? just general ideas for characters talking about things and struggling and there’d be just too much set up involve. i had an idea for a botw “champions live” thing for example that’s just revali venting to kass about stuff & then listening to him play accordion bc he can’t sleep
4.Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
“A monster made but never aware until the teeth and claws had long since settled into the flesh.” is one of my favorites from recent writing and its from a fic i kind of just spit out. like damn i wrote that
5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
well (: probably jon tma in terms of fanfic
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
i don’t think there’s any one in particular? i just like shoving characters in situations and watching them go

25, 41, 42!
25. Favorite side character?
This is tricky. As far as serious characters go, I’m torn between Kass and his teacher. I can guarantee you I do not and would not have the emotional stability necessary to devote the remainder of my life after a major catastrophe to helping the man who holds the heart of the one I care about, especially if I didn’t know for sure that he’d ever return. Then again, Kass left his wife and family behind upon seeing the towers activate to finish his mentor’s work. That could easily have been years on the road, based on how long it would take Link to finish his own quest. They’re both seriously hardcore and I aspire to have that kind of resolve.
Otherwise, the guy outside Gerudo Town. Don’t even remember his name. But flirting with him under false pretenses just to steal his boots? Hell yes.
41. Do you like an open world Zelda or a more linear one?
Neither. Zelda has to be a perfect blend of both to get the maximum amount of adventure. While it’s important to have a world that’s mostly accessible from the beginning, if you don’t have a linear progression of abilities and dungeons the drive to explore is greatly diminished. My favorite part of Zelda is seeing something just out of reach, waiting to be explored to the max, but I’m missing something. That drives me to progress and develop my skills. Knowing what I’m supposed to do next but not knowing how to go about getting there is also paramount to the adventure. For instance, in the very first game the manual shows you the way to the first dungeon and part of a map to the second, but everything after that is a blank slate. However, the manual and game also tell you explicitly that there is an order to the levels, and that attempting to do one before you’ve done the previous is going to halt you in your tracks. That makes it all the more exciting to stumble upon a later level too early. Can you complete it anyway? If this dungeon is here, then where’s the one I’m looking for? It offers up so many questions that allow for true exploration.
The same can be said for later games, including Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, either of the Oracles games, pretty much all of the ones where your map is incomplete. In Link’s Awakening, you’ll get a hint at the end of a dungeon telling you “Go Here Next” but absolutely no indication of where “Here” is. In Ocarina of Time, you might get a flashing dot on the map indicating a general direction, but getting to that dot is entirely up to you. That in combination with the fact that you’ll inevitably run into areas you can’t access because you’re missing something develop an eager excitement to progress both in the main quest and in side quests - as you go, you’ll find even more of these areas and continuously have the thought, “Oh this item, I bet that’s what I use back at that one spot.”
So ultimately, I don’t care for either end of the spectrum. Breath of the Wild didn’t really scratch that adventure itch like some of the other Zeldas, but Skyward Sword didn’t either (keep in mind this is coming from someone who has sunk well over 1,200 into both). I like the blends. That’s what really draws out my adventurous spirit.
42. Something you want in BotW 2?
First, a real name. If the devs follow ALBW like they did in Japan and just keep the original name with a big fat # 2 on the end of it I will literally light myself on fire.
Second, DUNGEONS. PLZ. GIVE ME ITEMS AND SEALED OFF AREAS. I’M BEGGING YOU NINTENDO I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE REST.
Third (when I said I didn’t care about the rest I was lying), a real plot. A well-executed plot. Give me some lore to dig into. Give me a reason to really hate the villain, don’t just leave it to an amorphous fireball that apparently destroyed everything a century before. Ganondorf in WW and TP was scary because he was real, and his exploits and destruction were readily present. Zant had the same feeling, as did Ghirahim, but in that same vein Demise didn’t have that sense as much until he was looking you straight in the face and calling you weak. I want my hands to shake when other Hyruleans mention the villain. I want to see the destruction and feel the utter terror like when Majora turned Link into a deku scrub. Make me fear for my life, Nintendo. Give me something to be scared of, a real reason to be scared of it, and a reason to give a damn about fighting it. I’m supposed to be the goddess-damn hero of legend, make me feel like it.

sidon (ask meme)
O boy
favorite thing about him:
the fact that he’s been doing that same smile thing since he was little is so wonderful im big fan
least favorite thing about them:
the fact that whenever i go to a con hoping to finally get rito or just any botw merchandise im fucking drowning in sidon
favorite line:
it’s pretty sad but i do like that moment where you catch him talking to Mipha’s statue,,,
"I wish you were here to guide me... I miss you terribly..."
HHHOUUGGHHHHH
brOTP:
the idea of Kass and him being bros makes me. : )
OTP:
its not an otp as much as a funny little silly thought but the concept of Sidon and Meelo being together is absolutely lovely and delightful. in another world they would b a really good couple. dont fucking @ MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
NOTP:
OKAY I WAS GONNA ZIP MY LIPS BUT I OUGHTA BE TRANSPARENT
it’s fuckingnghg s!dl!nk but HOnestly at the end of the day i have 0 issue with it its only out of spite and its fucking fun to be petty as shit about something
like literally i’ll see a really cute or pretty s!dl!nk thing and b like “o hoho how delightful i will reblog this” and i’ll stop myself like
“wait a SECOND. I HATE THAT!!!!! that’s RIGHT!!!!!!!” and then i dont.
you can @ me about this i deserve it
random headcanon/ unpopular opinion:
most of my opinions on sidon are very very incredibly unpopular
for instance, a lot of people think of him as a kind, excitable, sweet, responsible boy to the very core that looks out for his loved ones case closed...considering that’s really all that was shown in canon
but really i feel like there would be a really dark, realistic dark, part of him that doesn’t come out very often. not anything like YANDERE or CRAZY KILLER SEXY FISH MONSTER or whatever. and not anything that makes him a fundamentally bad person. just that there’s a really horrible side to him that can easily be triggered and without being careful and aware of it he can go down the wrong path and make really bad, rash decisions if he doesn’t have any proper guidance.
i mean, he was raised as royalty so he was probably given everything he wanted, and I would like to think that because of the death of Mipha (and whatever the story is about their mother), Dorephan wasn’t always emotionally there to raise him right. Like, his father loves him more than anything, but he lost so much so it was easier to give him whatever he wanted and make him happy. And so then with his sister gone and with no mother to speak of, there is no one to properly raise him and guide him.
so, with that and with literally being a prince, Sidon isn’t used to not getting what he wants. He will keep his composure for a while, but only for so long. And since he was never told ‘no’ as he grew up, he acts out/has a tantrum/gets pissed off beyond belief. And this only gets worse and scarier as he gets older.
But really, in all honesty, there is absolutely nothing wrong with thinking of him as a genuinely pure-hearted guy that loves everyone. i’m just. like this and love to break down characters and add some depth, especially if it’s dark, and i felt like it would interestly to do that with Sidon since there is certainly room for it. and so that’s what i try to do in ehc; show his composure slowly breaking away to show this ugly, (but not evil!!!) side of him.
song i associate with them:
Shark Serenade by Vermillion Lies. Mostly cuz of what i talked about ^^^ and also cuz he. a shark
youtube
favorite picture of them:
LITERALLY-
