Hi, I was wondering if you could answer a question I had about how much authority a lord has over his extended family members. Like if a lord wants to marry off one of his brother’s daughters, can he do so even if his brother refuses to agree? Who holds the most authority in a situation like that? Does it change depending on the status of the lord in question- like if he was a king, lord paramount or someone from a great house rather than a more typical lord?

Again re feudalism, a lord has as much authority as his vassals allow him, and vassals include family members. (And "allow" includes what they feel they must do per traditions and societal pressures.) Look at how Hoster Tully tried to marry off his brother Brynden to Bethany Redwyne. Brynden refused, and though this pissed off Hoster and strained his relationship with his brother, that's how he left it. A more cruel lord, who loved his brother less and his status more, might use more pressure to get his way. Lords are not bound by any law or custom to support their family members, so in the case you mention, that lord might then tell his brother "fine, then, you and your daughters have to leave". And faced with having to make his own way in the world while supporting his girls, the brother might bow his head and submit. Or maybe he would decide to be a hedge knight after all, or maybe he'd have in-laws he could look to for support, it all depends.

Though again re feudalism (because the feudal contract goes both ways), theoretically this brother could try to go over his lord brother's head and appeal to their overlord. See for example Lord Wyman Webber, who when faced with a daughter, Rohanne, who refused to marry per his command, instead wrote a will that said she had to marry within two years of his death or the lordship and the castle of Coldmoat would go to her cousin instead. It was asked within the story, couldn't Lady Rohanne appeal to her overlord, Lord Rowan, and have him override the will? Well, she tried, but that Webber cousin just happened to be married to Lord Rowan's sister, and so he upheld the will. But maybe in a different situation something could be done -- perhaps the overlord is known to be particularly noble, or perhaps this pressured brother has a connection to the overlord (maybe via his wife, maybe they were companions in battle or as squires). But still, the brother would have to take his daughter with him during this appeal, or he might return to find out she's been married off in his absence.

And as for the girl herself, could she not refuse? Even if she's underage, isn't it true, as Sansa thinks, "Not even the High Septon himself could declare a woman married if she refused to say the vows"? Well, we have Sansa's own example, where when she was faced with marrying Tyrion, Cersei told her she could be dragged to the altar and make a spectacle to be laughed at but they'd still make her do it anyway... and so Sansa submitted and said the vows. See also how Randyll Tarly forced his son Sam to join the Night's Watch. Sam didn't have to submit, there is no law saying he had to obey, but his father threatened to kill him if he didn't, and due to Sam's experience with his father's abuse (and what that abuse did to his personality), he fully believed him. Someone once asked me if an overlord could help there (though weirdly they mentioned Stannis, who wouldn't be able to do anything even if he wanted to), and the point I had to explain was that Sam was so beaten down by the abuse he never would have even considered going over his father's head, even if he could have somehow escaped his father's guards on the way north.

So with these examples, you can see where the status of the lord in question may change things -- a king, for example, has no overlords to appeal to. A lord paramount's brother could only appeal to the king. This status also changes what pressure the lord can bring to bear -- a very small lord may only have a sworn sword to threaten his brother with, a bigger lord could have a whole garrison, and the king would have not just the Kingsguard and the castle guard and the city guard but theoretically every lord and soldier in the country to use as pressure. Again, feudalism works both ways.

And generally none of this is even stated aloud. Everybody just knows the answer to "you and what army?" and so even family members understand what their lord pressuring them means. (Girls particularly innately understand this, along with patriarchal pressure; like Roslin Frey had no real choice at the Red Wedding but to obey her father, brothers, uncles, and cousins.) So, like so many things in ASOIAF's medieval-inspired era, the personal is the political. Only the personalities of the people involved, and their means of pressure or access routes to escape, are what truly defines what can happen in cases like this.

Okay, I don’t have any fics or hcs for Jiro’s birthday, but I do have a theory. I don’t think Yuri actually wants Jiro to get healthier and might actually prefer it if he stays unhealthy and dependent on Yuri. Theory below! This is long... If I missed anything or got anything wrong or if anyone has additional information to submit, PLEASE!!! Share!!!!

I also wrote this frantically to post before midnight lmao please go easy on me...

To start, we should look into what we know about Yuri:

He’s a transfer from Frostheim for reasons that have left him on very very very bad terms with Jin and Frostheim as a whole. He’s referred to as having run away to hide in Mortkranken. Whether he is the friend who betrayed Jin or not, I can’t say, but it’s very possible he was involved in something that left Jin and co upset with him to the point of basically exiling him. 

He’s afraid of Romeo, so Sinostra is another out for him by default. Why is he afraid, again, I can’t say, but this leaves him without possible support from two big possible financial backers. Since he is very serious about the budget and how Mortkranken looks, this is a bad thing for him and one he is assuredly very aware of. Remember, Yuri is obsessed with his own legacy, his own image. Mortkranken’s success is Yuri’s success. Mortkranken looking poor and having no accolades reflects poorly on him and he cannot separate himself from this.

He can’t fight, either by choice or lack of ability, and relies on Jiro to protect him. This is something they both acknowledge and is a feature of the Mortkranken chapter. It makes sense, as his stigma is not particularly combat focused and he complains about exercise.

And he has no allies or friends currently, at least publicly. Everyone who references him does so with a bit of distaste or distance, and when he is trying to convince his own Mortkranken students to help him and the MC carry up the vat of acid, he has to bribe them. He cannot appeal to their loyalty to him as their captain, their respect, their friendship- no, he has to pay them to help him.

Mortkranken as a whole operates on a laissez-faire foundation, where Yuri isn’t even aware of what the gen admission students are researching or who is interning at Darkwick General. Within his own house, the one he is the captain of, he is still an outsider and isolated from his peers.

If you go through Yuri’s home screen lines, he refers to Jiro A LOT, and like… no one else. Dude can’t do anything without having Jiro do it for him or with him. Their dynamic is very much Yuri ordering Jiro around and Jiro obeying (with complaints here and there, but mostly he just goes through with it all). There’s even a suggestion that Jiro might be the most effective impulse control that Yuri has. After failing to cure the MC’s cure with his new ibuprofen knockoff, he wants to jump right into shooting her up with anomaly blood without acknowledging the danger this could put her in. Jiro has to comment that there’s no reason to do this hastily, as it could kill her. Only then does Yuri back down and seem to recognize he was being too impulsive in his desire to hide his perceived failure. 

From all of this, we can see that Yuri does have a vested interest in keeping Jiro by his side. Jiro is smart, strong, seems to have few qualms with putting himself in danger, and is pragmatic enough as to acknowledge that he needs Yuri to survive. Why would Yuri pick Jiro, though, if he could have reasonably recruited someone else to protect him or be his assistant? There are physically stronger and more healthy ghouls, like Alan, or he could have tried to bond with someone more amenable like Rui (however, it seems like Rui might not be the biggest Yuri fan…more on that later) Well…

Jiro also… He’s not completely clear about his memory issues: 

For someone who is so straightforward, this seems VERY unclear and peculiar to me. He doesn’t say he doesn’t remember, he says his memories are vague and that there’s no evidence either way. If he is a suspect or if he did commit the murder and he DOES remember, then here’s another way Yuri could buy his alliance: corroborate Jiro having amnesia as a symptom of his sickness, or even worse, cause amnesia. After the graveyard, inter-house mission chapter and Jiro’s reaction to the crying ghost child, it’s not unfounded to say Jiro himself might have wanted to get rid of unpleasant memories.

Also note that the Vagastrom student says “kid” from Ultio, and Jiro’s negative reaction is to a ghost child. 

Now that we have that out of the way, what are some reasons how Yuri would potentially keep Jiro unhealthy and therefore reliant on him? The voiceline that started this theory is Jiro’s affinity 22 home screen voice line:

I’m not a medical student or a doctor or particularly versed in any of this, but from a little bit of research, my understanding is that simple interrupted sutures are used on shallower, more surgical cuts and could potentially leave lasting marks, while deep dermal sutures are done on a deeper layer of the flesh, more effective on larger wounds, and are generally meant to be used with suture materials that can be absorbed by the body once the wound has closed. Given that Jiro is noted to not heal very well, and Yuri frequently has to redress his wounds, it seems like maybe the shallower stitches aren’t holding up. Additionally, it doesn’t look like Jiro’s wounds are all exclusively surgical. Let’s take a minute to look at Jiro shirtless for conspiracy reasons, not lust reasons (okay, maybe some lust reasons):

Most of the cuts on his back and arms look like claw marks. They’re more jagged, asymmetric, and inconsistent. The scar down his chest is pretty strange given the star shapes, so that’s likely related to Yuri’s surgical incisions, but that’s not what Yuri is treating here. He’s treating the claw marked shaped wounds. Jiro is also NOT stupid, so the fact that he’s suggesting this is not to be overlooked. Yuri chooses not to listen, maybe because it would be more effective, and then he’d rely on Yuri less.

Then there are these moments:

The first one is a blatant lie, as Jiro is the one who does most of the shot-administering. He does the MC’s checkups, including bloodwork and giving her the dosage of Yuri’s liquid tylenol. The only time he falters in this is when his illness acts up and makes him shaky. So no, he doesn’t have a lack of expertise that keeps him from administering his own shots unless there’s something currently unknown (or I’m missing).

For the second screenshot, this is during the conversation between Yuri and Jiro where Jiro has presumably come back from Frostheim and is lying or experiencing memory problems when relaying his whereabouts to Yuri. He’s experiencing what they refer to as “cyanosis” which is low oxygen in the blood, causing extremities to change color in purple/blue (something you can see on his hands in his Halloween look, so it’s likely a recurring or constant condition). 

Yuri gives him an adrenaline shot, which, again, not in the medical field, but this seems fine? Adrenaline would speed up his heart which would encourage blood and oxygen flow to his extremities which would likely help. 

Jiro then requests metoclopramide hydrochloride which is a medication taken by people with gastrointestinal issues generally related to diabetes and acid reflux. It’s supposed to help with nausea and vomiting, both symptoms that pop up a lot for him. If he was in a coma for a long time and admits to not being able to eat anything, then this request of his makes sense. His stomach lining and esophagus were likely damaged by intubation and stomach acid, and any related surgery or medication could only add to this damage. 

Yuri responds just by giving him a glucose shot instead which Jiro allows, but it seems like this would only work if he had low blood sugar and not a wealth of other issues that he definitely has. I’m sure low blood sugar is something he experiences as well due to his inability to eat anything, but I don’t see anything that says this would treat his nausea. Curious that Yuri might be intentionally leaving Jiro to experience negative side effects!

And then there is, ultimately, Jiro lying or having memory issues when he claims to have been to Obscuary but returns to Mortkranken with snowflakes in his hair and he’s borderline hypothermic. Jiro is very blunt and straightforward, which could lead you to believe he doesn’t lie, but I don’t think that’s necessarily the correct position to take. He’s smart, he’s crazy smart when it comes to the medical field to the point that he’s making major discoveries with little acknowledgment from himself because he sees them as minor. Anything that Yuri does to him that isn’t 100% going to help him heal? He knows. And who else knows?

Rui.

Rui can watch things going on without anyone knowing he’s there, and he just so happens to interrupt a conversation where Tohma is CLEARLY trying to use leading questions on the MC to get her to reveal some information that would implicate a Mortkranken student, likely Jiro, as being a suspect in whoever interrogated and potentially killed a Frostheim student. Rui shows up and gives him an alibi. Why? Not sure, I have no clue what Rui’s relationship is to Jiro or if this interaction was purely to spite Tohma or if it was in opposition to Yuri somehow, but it’s suspicious nonetheless how this plays out.

So, basically, I don’t trust that Yuri has Jiro’s best interests at heart. I don’t mean to say in any of this that Yuri is evil, but I think he’s afraid and he’s clinging to a method of preserving his safety and that method is Jiro. As long as Jiro is reliant upon Yuri for medical care, Yuri can throw him at his problems and use him as an assistant and bodyguard. I also really hope to see how Rui is involved, if at all, and I have a general vibe that Rui, reaper as he is, might be able to see and/or hear Zenji... But that's just a vibe, I don't have evidence for that one :)

interestingly, springy singles spring-bot out from the other spring-toys. as we know now, there is something more "real" about bot than the other contestants in that they weren't created by mephone, in that they are consciously aware of their creation and purpose and can thus choose their own path in that context. springy has fixated on bot ever since they first interacted; does springy somehow know they're the one exception?

and speaking of exceptions, bot is one of the only two nonbinary characters on the show, and given how they only came out as such right when the only other one was eliminated (paintbrush), they went on to feel really alone in that for a while; this is tied into the symbol that is bot being, well, a robot, which they are also alone in. bot had a whole speech to n/a about how both of them are "the only one of their kind" in a sense, and how there should be more of them, but for now they can find solace in the other people who'll support them anyway.

but springy is artificially making more of bot's kind, more robots artificially aware of being robots, more symbolically queer people. springy is terribly misunderstanding what makes bot special: they weren't programmed to be nonbinary, or programmed to be self-aware, or programmed to behave like someone aware of the fact that they were programmed... no, that's something bot did themselves. bot could've chosen to live forever under the guise of bow, under the guise of their "purpose"; but who bot is as a person, everything springy fixates on and fetishizes and wants to recreate, is everything bot wasn't created to be.

"i wish this was a mask!" ...bot realized they were being forced to wear the "mask" of bow, being forced to fulfill a "purpose", and was able to choose who they were because of that realization. but springy is denying that his purpose is any different from who he is: it isn't a mask he puts on. according to him, springy is indistinguishable from his purpose. springy idolizes bot's self-discovery, but doesn't believe in the agency behind it - and so springy wants to artificially recreate it without any agency involved...

...but in trying to do so, springy is undermining that self-discovery entirely. they clearly desire the ability to defy purpose, but they simultaneously submit to it, and thereby see purpose as a worthy means to an end: just as test tube and fan imposed the purpose of "being bow" on bot, springy is imposing the purpose of "being bot" on spring-bot.

springy is still caught up in the idea of "purpose", even if he thinks that idea is bad, something especially apparent when he begs for approval of having fulfilled his purpose of being helpful and making others smile.

springy, following their interaction with cabby about spring-bot, realizes they can be more than just their purpose; however, as the spring-toys were made while springy was still following his original purpose, and were thus made to take down mephone, they still obey walkie talkie in doing so.

in this episode, walkie talkie and springy talk a lot about their own "purpose", what they were "built" to do. there are a lot of implications that these two were also created by mephone, though definitely not consciously; they're more so projections of some of his inner desires, like having the show continue indefinitely or having it be lucrative (and treating the contestants like "toys" in a sense).

springy takes pride in being more than just his purpose; walkie talkie, meanwhile, takes pride in still having her purpose and still fulfilling it.

as walkie is antagonistic toward mephone, he immediately assumes she's working for steve cobs -- which is strikingly similar to his accusation of toilet working for cobs. toilet wasn't antagonistic, no, but he was incredibly annoying to mephone; and we know from the ii14 ending scene, and with the current context, that toilet was made by mephone (as he was attacked by mephone x and presumably deleted). walkie, too, was made by mephone; we get this thru-line here of mephone despising people who bother him, people who are really extensions of himself... people who want to defy what they were made for, but have difficulty doing that...

really, we don't know how much mephone knows now; he knows that, to some extent, these people's purposes revolve around him, but i'm not sure if he'd be fully clued into the fact that he made them. in any event, this is all a troubling revelation to him.

weirdly, while the other spring-toys deactivate when walkie talkie is turned off, the toy version of bot doesn't. well, given how spring-bot was programmed to defy programming, one would expect that it wouldn't "obey" being stopped. it's funny: effectively, spring-bot is more obedient to purpose/programming than the other spring-toys, because of its unnuanced defiance.

who is springy saying this to? spring-bot... or himself? he's sacrificing himself to save mephone, truly defying his purpose of being self-serving; he's ultimately choosing who he wants to be. we don't see spring-bot for the rest of the episode, so it's unclear what happens with it.

interestingly, though springy was created by mephone, mephone had to make a melife icon for them: springy didn't automatically have one. perhaps mephone technically has the capacity to regenerate anyone he creates, but he only naturally has the option to do so for his contestants? cuz reasonably, they'd be the ones dying over and over in his challenges?

at the same time, though, didn't dough turn into a ghost because he died before mephone created a melife icon for him? my theory is the following: if a person mephone creates dies before having a melife icon, mephone has a short window of time to create their icon and regenerate them before it's too late, at which point they'd die permanently and turn into a ghost.

balloon seems surprised that mephone's able to recover a non-contestant; as it is, now that mephone knows he can do so (on account of what walkie said), he does do so.

i love how ambiguous his wording is here. "responsible [...] for these guys" could mean anything from mephone being in charge of their safety and happiness to being the reason they exist. and he's saying he's "responsible" for more than just his contestants, and that he "can help them, too"; does "them" refer to his contestants, or to whatever it is he's referring to aside from his contestants? is that folks like walkie talkie, springy, toilet, etc? those non-contestants he made and whom he knows revolve around him, even if he doesn't know directly that he created them? so many double-meanings here.

i've been able to understand the unvitational committee a lot more this time around, especially walkie talkie and springy; knowing their motivations and "purpose" in the context of ii16 makes it a lot more meaningful. the ii3 finale overall was pretty well-written i believe! not my favorite part of the season, but it wrapped it up pretty well, i think.

i must apologize to ii3! i used to be so negative about it all... but it's actually pretty darn good. very flawed in a lot of ways, certainly, and those flaws make me very mad (the way the show treated bot and cabby in particular), but the season overall is enjoyable and fascinating, and it fits into the lore very well :) love you ii3!!

the only good victim is a dead victim; but the close second is an innocent victim with zero agency. an empty vessel for Heroes to project whatever they want into them.

That's what Hawks and Deku wanted, wasn't it? For their victim to be just an unlucky guy, just a crying child. For their victim to be "good", that abstract, default norm of the society they enforce, befitting their standard of 'good', never questioning if it's even valid. Hawks, after killing Twice, later talks about him in such nice words. "A decent guy... desperate to be helpful." Vague. Abstract. Nondescript. Who did Twice want to be helpful for, Hawks??? Why did he want to be helpful??? Why was he desperate???

A victim to submit to the Hero's saving, no questions asked, no baggage carried, ready to obey the Hero's imposed values. Come quietly; Surrender; Go to jail; I'll help you start over - I decide your fate. And if that fate is cutting off all past bonds, if that fate is ditching all you've ever known and loved, then that's your fate.

But the moment this Good Innocent Victim starts to act in anyway that doesn't fit the Heroes' preconceived notions, then the victim is dangerous. Why would Bubaigawara and Tenko want to stay with their friends those evil villains? If I grant them the the judgment of 'a good person', what more can they want? If I smashed their hatred, what else can be left?

It can't be because my save wasn't enough. I reached out a hand. I offered them an out. I was giving them the salvation I envisioned for them. I think that's enough, and that's what matters. A victim with zero agency can't protest against that. Can't question me. Can't forced me to wrestle with deeper issues.

Hawks wanted Twice to just give up and forget his friends and be the unlucky good guy who fell in with The Evil League. His life was meaningless and pathetic—unfortunate, just how things are, no structural cause and social welfare neglect—and now Hawks can give it meaning. But then Twice said no, asserted that yeah, he was downtrodden and thrown to the wolves, but he was so lucky to have found friends that cared about him unconditionally (because no one from "the good side" ever did).

Deku wanted only The Crying Child who needed his help and the relief he can provide by holding his hand and healing an emotional wound, instead of dealing with the adult villain who has long decided - was forced to decide - to do something about the material injustices in the world himself, that was bigger than just one villain pulling all the strings, the suffering his friends went through that AFO had no hand in. Deku wanted the Tenko who would just stop being a Villain, who would just completely give up all destruction (never mind that Deku used his own destruction to get through to Tenko); wanted Tenko to stop himself and end the cycle of sadness, as if Tenko alone controlled this cycle of sadness. But then Tenko said no, because he loves the League. He won't stop being their Hero.

And now both Twice and Shigaraki are dead. Victims with agency, with opinions, with feelings on what saving they want. Victims who won't give up what little agency and choices and relationships and joy they had found. They won't give it up, they'll fight with their lives for it, and so Heroes have to fear them the most. Wills of steel that refused to be dismissed.

When neither side gives up, someone has to die. Fade away. Leave the Heroes with the idealized vision they had of the person they wanted to save. The one they failed to save, that dead victim.

Brief Essay on V's sexual preferences w/ Harry, from a D/s perspective (mostly in answer to that one anon who asked about sub Voldemort, I'm so sorry this turned into a monster):

I think OP is correct that for the way V relates to Harry, it's definitely submission in context. There's no universal definition of dominance or submission for BDSM, and I think that what literature is out there has a tendency to oversimplify a lot of the nuance involved in real life (for example, (1) a lot of partners may switch roles rather than permanently being a Dom or a sub, (2) the fact that submission in the bedroom doesn't inherently imply a submissive personality, and (3) the existence of non-sexual BDSM).

Voldemort is not a submissive personality in general. He's arrogant, enjoys being obeyed, and likes to have things go exactly to plan -- a pattern of enjoying control that could imply his preference at having control in the bedroom as well, and we do see him attempt that with Harry (his preference for being called Master in NG coming to mind). If Harry genuinely enjoyed/was satisfied with submitting to him sexually while still maintaining his general level of defiance, I think he would be decently happy with that, but this is where we hit our first major bump in the road:

Harry is not a submissive personality, at all. Historically, we will in fact watch him double down against someone he considers an opponent at great personal cost to himself (Umbridge and the Blood Quills come to mind) rather than submit to avoid pain or humiliation. He has been fighting for his life and the lives of his friends against adults who were all bigger, stronger, and scarier than him since he was 11 and the fact that Voldemort is (thus far) the worst of the lot doesn't actually shake him because Voldemort is just the kingpin of the exact thing he's spent his whole life training to fight. Voldemort's hyper-controlling Dark Lord tendencies just aren't frightening for him in the same way because his fear response is, at this point, pretty broken. Voldemort can traumatize him, but he can't scare him off as effectively, and that makes him hard to control.

Aside from this, all of Harry's survival instincts are shot to hell. By the end of book 7 and the beginning of NG, he was very much suicidal (and I would probably argue still is, to a degree). He doesn't necessarily want V to hurt or even kill him, but the instinct to avoid that outcome has been suppressed in him, leading Harry to regularly refuse to capitulate or submit. Fundamentally, Harry values exercising his control over V more than his own safety, which puts Voldemort in a very sticky position.

Voldemort needs to care about Harry's health more than Harry does, because if he leaves Harry to his own devices then the boy will just get himself killed and V will be mortal again (not to mention totally fucked in terms of his addiction to Harry's soul). However, he can't scare Harry into being safe or taking care of himself because Harry does not give two shits about his own safety -- all of those restrictions (not committing suicide, the Elixar of Life, occulemency lessons) have to come from V. Getting Harry to comply with those restrictions requires some level of capitulation on the part of V, which sets the scene for V being willing to sacrifice some of his power to ensure Harry's safety. This helps set the behavioral pattern for V trading some of his power to Harry under select circumstances, but doesn't generate the desire to: that comes from his fondness and admiration for Harry, and his hatred of himself.

Within the NG canon, we know that V is decently fond of Harry, even when he's annoyed with him and Harry's refusing to submit. As seen with the events leading up to the wedding/Ruination, V likes getting defiance out of Harry and is disappointed when Harry is able to keep his own emotions under wraps. The problem here is that Harry doesn't really give two shits about V outside of political power and a (newly) pretty face -- the fondness only goes one way. V was able to lie to himself before the rape in Ruination that Harry may have been interested in him, but that's been a much harder front to keep up since he fundamentally believes he didn't deserve Harry's mercy or forgiveness in An Offering of Peace. V likes Harry as a person and Harry... doesn't. On this front, they're united, since V doesn't like himself much either.

We see a lot of V's self-loathing from both his POV's outside of the official story and from Harry's aura-sight in NG. All of Harry's claims about him have slowly been coming true, and the accusation of "Monster" has absolutely been living rent-free in that man's head since the wedding. For the first time, Voldemort consciously believes it about himself in a way that doesn't involve thinking he knows best or papering over any insecurities with more arrogance. After An Offering of Peace, he receives Harry's mercy and (somewhat) forgiveness, but not his esteem, which is almost more damning because it means that Voldemort has nothing to offer in return except more of his power and control.

Which leads us to the core of why I think ServiceTop!Voldemort has been dipping his feet into the submissive side of the pool: Voldemort hates Voldemort, and Harry at least kind of hates Voldemort, but Voldemort admires Harry and likely wishes that Harry felt the same way about him, because it would mean that there was something in himself that he could believe was worth admiring. He believes he can't get that (and might never get that), but he can make Harry at least temporarily pleased with him when they have sex.

V would likely both love it and hate it if Harry tried to take more control during sex -- love, because if Harry is controlling him then it means that Harry wants him, and if he keeps doing what Harry wants then he's something worth wanting. Hate, because he still wants Harry to like him for more than just sex and political favors, not to mention the internal battle he likely has to fight every time he gives up even an ounce of control.

I don't think V could bring himself to submit all the time -- he does still enjoy control in general, being called 'Master' and hearing Harry beg for him -- but I think he would also enjoy being on Harry's leash in more ways that one, not in the least because it would mean that Harry wanted him in some capacity. I imagine he wouldn't submit 100% of the time, but he would also want it on the days when his desire for Harry's approval outweighs his desire for control. If Harry genuinely showed no interest in him / pure ambivalence aside from practical necessity, I think V would honestly be heartbroken to a degree.

Voldemort really has turned into such a mess, with his closeted self-loathing and even more closeted deep-seated desire to be truly wanted and even, oh no, loved (a desire that he knows he doesn’t deserve and is so afraid of he can’t even begin to think of how he would express it).

Major’s knees hit the floor, pain rocketing up his legs from the blow of concrete to aching joints. A few pairs of knees follow suit. The last one, too slow, is far off to the right. Choking sounds clog the air. Major’s back is straight as a rod, blindfolded face pointing forward. At first, anyone who disobeyed got executed. This time the guy’s getting strangled. Who knows what else will be used as punishment.

It still hurts his pride to obey, but every single time it is not a conscious decision. His body just follows.

It’s sort of like when he was a kid, scared of the asshole adults in the crew he ran with. Or when he was stuck with that guy, for a while, and… he’s just had to act good, before. His body remembers, even if his mind is a maelstrom of aimless fury.

“Hold your hand out.”

This time, the commanding voice is close. Right in front of him. Is he the only one being told to - his arm is in front of him before he even thinks to do it, palm up.

A line from the base of his thumb to an inch under his pinky feels cold suddenly, then numb and empty, and then full of fire. Major chokes on a scream as the familiar, savory smell of his own cooking skin wafts up into his face.

“Hand out,” He is reminded, and as he coughs around a sob, Major registers that he yanked his hand to his chest to protect it. A hand rests on his shoulder from behind, and in an instant he can sense that one more second of hesitation will mean being choked to death. Garrotted, maybe.

His hand flings itself out at the commander. His fingers knock against each other as his arm trembles.

“Hold still for ten seconds, and you get to sleep outside of the cage tonight.”

Wide brows furrow over the blindfold. He does not think about the implication that he will be sleeping here for a long time, or that he is now a thing to be kept in a cage, or how humiliating it is to be offered a reward for submitting to standards he doesn’t understand yet. The command was phrased like there was an obvious right choice. Like he should want to earn sleeping outside of whatever cage is in store for him.

He holds still. The brief numbness hits again, the smell creeps into his nose. Thick burn scars singe and then melt open under whatever is being held to them, and Major swallows a mortified whine.

Something happens. Like, in his brain. His vision is flashing white, all noise drowned out except for the blood rushing at his temples. The pain is all-consuming, he isn’t even sure if he’s still holding his arm out.

But it’s simple, somehow. Nothing to see, no insults to conjure up. He just hurts, and that’s all he has to do.

Someone was counting out loud, he thinks dizzily, as a confusing silence falls and his arm slaps against his knee as it is dropped. He isn’t sure if he obeyed right, if he held still for long enough - panicked gasps startled out of him as the hand on his shoulder slides off. Will he be killed? The pain was too much and he got lost, he wasn’t trying to fuck up, he doesn’t want to fucking die, please-

“Hold your hand out.” Major whimpers under his breath, listening hard. The command came from his right side, and there is someone breathing in noisy terror. There is a sizzle, and a yip. No gunshot, and no choking, though. The guy is obeying well enough.

Which means Major did, too. The cool air is acid to the fresh burn across his palm. Sweat prickles over his bare, ridged back as he tries not to groan. Drawing attention here would be a bad idea. Each sizzle across a new palm almost gets him flinching.

Just… breathe. Even though the air tastes like… barbecue.

Farther across the room, there comes the command again, and someone chokes out a cry of fear. Scrabbling hands and knees across the floor, tripping, a collapse. Major listens for any hint of where the door is, or how many guys are standing around ready to catch runners.

A flash, and his ears are ringing so hard from the bang that Major’s voice cracks to make his cry silent. Scar-tough shoulders scrunch up around his ears as the runner chokes on blood.

Gargling. Weeping, trying to beg.

There is no second shot. Major’s uncharred hand twitches, restless. He has the magic to save that guy, to fix him, it’s not too late and if it was safe he would…

The commander says something that is hard to hear over the ringing, and then walks away. Footsteps follow him, a door closes, a lock clicks.

Wet, thick attempts to breathe, hanging in the air like the smoke that Major must be imagining burning his lungs. That dying guy, he’s hacking up failed attempts at speaking. Sounds like he’s… yeah, he is. Crying for his mom.

There’s no one left in here to watch them, probably. No gun aimed at his head, no one standing behind him with gloved hands ready to lock around his throat. Probably.

The death rattle deep in that punctured chest is even worse than the begging, but Major stays frozen, facing forward, kneeling.

Strange things been happening lately, angels that you were close with have gone missing, you feel like you were being watched all the time. And your things have been disappearing. Gabriel seem to be much more clingy to you

Everynight you have a dream about someone telling you that he will comeback for you

And later on, Someone Overthrew God out of his position.

Every now and then you will always wake up with bite marks everywhere, mostly around your neck and inner thighs. Some of them have blood stains in them.

And also a bit wet down there.

Another familiar scent will always be in your body

After Gabriel successfully destroyed heaven, you and the other angels manage to survive including the other archangels. You weren't sure if Gabriel The Archangel have survived. (He didn't he's trapped lolol) you haven't seen him in centuries. And now you have been caught by him

he will lock you up in a fancy bird cage 5 times your size but and will always visit you

That bird cage is like a mini room, it had a bed, and furnitures and things that you love doing (like painting, creating songs, writing poems, and other angelic stuff)

This yandere will always in control, always controlling your every moves

He gets upset whenever you disobey him.

But he always make it up to you whenever he hurt you

He tends to be extra sweet and clingy around you when you obey him

He gets so happy when you talk to him and eat the food he makes for you.

It took me a lot of time to put into words that Isaac, simply, wants to feel important.

On one hand, there's his wanting to be the perfect weapon for Dracula. He is subservient to a T, he changes his body for him, he refuses to think about what they're doing, in pursue of surpassing Hector and becoming the Lord's favorite. He never accomplished that. It eats him up inside, and drives him to do illogical actions, like insisting on fighting Hector on fair terms to prove himself.

"I'm not as thoughtful as you, Hector... If you have a good weapon, you use it, don't you?"

"Good for you that you can judge our Lord’s deeds… It’s not bad for my position. But I will not tolerate any disservice and betrayal towards Him."

"I will not deny your loyalty..."

On the other, there's Hector. Isaac isn't going to submit to Hector, of course, not when Dracula indirectly forced him in that position already. At first, he wants to be at least his equal: he respects him but as I mentioned he wants to prove himself against him in a fight. Again, he doesn't accomplish that, and in fact Hector defeats him when wounded - and, in a last spit to his face, leaves him alive, unworthy of being finished off.

"Take a look at this pathetic sight, my Lord, my broken sword used as a cane. My body is the proof of Your expectations for him. Please ridicule me, scold me, next time I will do whatever it takes."

But then, he chooses another way. For three years, Hector dominates Isaac's every thought, as he rots away, hidden, a waste, a failure, while Hector gets everything he ever wanted.

"Mhh... You make that kind of face too… I've gotten a lot better too... How many times has the moon waxed and waned, I wonder?

"That’s a nice expression… I'm happy. Good pain is proof of life. I won't afford you the peace of death easily: live, spit blood, and then…"

He writes Hector's name under his boot, which can be interpreted in many ways, but I personally see it as a symbol of how thoroughly Hector owns him, like a toy.

So, then, Isaac flips the script on him.

I have spent words already on the significance of Isaac killing Rosaly. I also mentioned how repaying Hector with the same trauma he had inflicted on Isaac, albeit unwittingly, puts Hector in the position of the one being "owned" like a toy. Now it's Hector the one who is obsessed with Isaac, ruled by his anger and hatred. Isaac can play with him as he pleases. He can move him around like his puppet, and Hector will obey, not because he's stupid, but because Isaac has seized control of his emotions and thoughts. Isaac went from being dead in Hector's eyes to being his only reason left to live. At last, for a short while, Isaac was the most important person in Hector's life - and you bet he was relishing in that power, he who was made to feel worthless by the same man.

Hurts even more than even in his death, he was being as second best, as faulty material for his Lord's resurrection, his body left to be crushed under the castle.

It contrasts with Hector, who wants mostly to feel safe.

"The ability to rebel and blaspheme against the Divine Providence is accepted without blame. A place where we are allowed to exist."

When he talks in the MF manga that he sought power for the sake of remaining human, he was most likely referring to the power to live in peace, unthreatened, not feeling weak or vulnerable. He didn't care at all about being important to Dracula, something that Isaac envied instead.

It's yet another tragic parallel that Hector ended up being important to many people. To Dracula, as I said, as his best Devil Forgemaster.
