Phantom is a known entity by the JLD. One of the ones who is willing to help in a tough fight. Helping out In situations such as trigon.
Here’s the thing. They all have no clue he is a halfa. There are only 3 on existence all only forming fairly recently in the grand scheme. They just assume Danny died failing to protect someone or something.
Obviously he’s obsessed with protecting others. That’s why he only shows up when stuff hits the fan. He rarely stays to chit chat and if he does it’s mainly to Raven.
Whether it be bad reveal to his parents or he got found out by the GIW.
He manages to make it to Raven after he escapes. To try and get help. He didn’t know who else to go to. She’s half demon so maybe she’d understand.
When he gets there. He can’t hold his phantom form promptly turning human and passing out from various injuries.
#dpxdc#dpxdc prompt#Danny is having a bad time#none of the occult members of the JLD had a clue#all they could sense was death on phantom#had they run into Danny#well Danny feels like death#Danny’s human self would of raised a lot of red flags#but phantom#just a powered ghost from the infinite realm#who just wants to help people out#Danny has no trust in anyone#so he never told the truth#he talked to raven only#he thought she’d understand stiff the best#but never got around to anything minus small talk

Thinking about Charles Xavier, who is simultaneously aware of everyone but at the same time not because if he was himself to the fullest people find him upsetting and rude and nosy
Thinking about his unshakable sense of morality, right and wrong and justice that he formed at the age of 9 and has kept ever since, with modifications along the years but those core values remain
Thinking about how the overstimulation of a thousand voices in his head drove him to self medicate to the point of nearly addiction
Thinking about how he has difficulty reading people when his power is not in use, ending up saying the worst things without meaning to upset no one
Thinking about how everyone should be “mutant and proud” except Charles over there that is too passing to be a mutant but too weird to be a human and simultaneously his mutation, the way his brain is fucking wired, is too inconvenient for everyone around him mutant and human alike to accept
Charles Xavier they would never make me hate you. You and your autism telepathy
#x men#charles xavier#I’m firm in this belief#Charles is the poster boy of invisible disability in first class and I mean it#no one lets him stretch his mutantion than they have the audacity to be mad that he didn’t understand their weird subtext#Raven I’m looking directly at you#if you want to be clear about your feelings with your brother but doesn’t want him in your head FUCKING TALK TO HIM#he is a mind reader that won’t read your mind!!! he has no way of knowing shit#because as the movie showed us#Charles and social cues have never been in a room together ever#Erik put one singular helmet and Charles was absolutely fumbling that social interaction#sure it was part stress of the situation but everyone agrees that telling the holocaust survivor#“they are only following orders” was the greatest misreadings of a situation ever#Charles also has a emphaty problem born also from his mutation#he has a lot of it#many time to his own detriment#because he has seen and experienced everyones shoes#he has walked them all#so he can’t separate the idea that someone so rich as another person deserving of extre punishment#even when that is the only option available#do you think his telephaty gave him identity issues?#what do you think is Charles Xavier perception of self?

yeah fuck it i'm making this its own post. basically very long winded (but still not as extensively detailed as i'd like) thoughts on adam & ronan (sort of) & whelk & noah
i remember reading the raven boys back in 2014 (ten years of rot in my brain!) and being sooo disappointed that there was basically zero fandom interest in whelk & noah beyond "omg whelk is evil and awful and terrible, poor baby noah!" when that is not the narrative surrounding them, not really. i feel it's a disservice to both of their characters to do that, especially noah's:
there is nuance there. there are implications. like... it's ALL about the implications!!! we basically see nothing of whelk and noah beyond what's left after the carnage. and it's a theme in trc for characters to have irreparably changed before we ever meet them (gansey, ronan, whelk, noah). we don't know what they were actually like when noah was alive, when they were best friends. when they were tight as ticks.
what we do know is this: whelk was noah's gansey. whelk was cheating on his own girlfriend with noah's, which is a shitty thing to do for sure, but something we also have zero context for. we also don't know how true it is, because whelk has such a self-inflicted warped view of his past. he keeps rewriting his own memories to think lesser of noah, because his absence hurts that much! we know they were best friends, the same way adam & ronan are best friends with gansey. we know they did everything together
okay, changing gears a little.
i'll paste the part where adam is possessed, sorry for the amount of screenshots:
and this line from a bit further along the chapter:
then, from noah's possession scene:
compare this to whelk's recollection of killing noah, and the effects it had on him:
"red lines streaked in the corners of his vision" "in whelk's head, unearthly voices hissed and whispered, words blurred and stretched together" "dictated by something larger and more powerful than himself" "somehow invited into his body through czerny's death" yes i am going there, yes i am making that point. i think, to some extent, barrington was possessed when he murdered his best friend. neither noah nor adam get their own pov while possessed, so...
i mean, time is a circle. noah needed to die so that gansey would live. noah had already died, gansey had already lived. it needed to happen, and so it would.
where the difference lies, i think, is in barrington's reaction to being possessed, versus adam/noah. for all that i'm arguing possession, i don't think barry's a stand up guy, he's a kid who's never had good role models (need i pull out the quotes about his shit parents) and who was raised by money and objects and reputation, which is why i think the possession worked. the idea to kill noah might've seemed like his own in the moment, an escalation of the situation he was already in, but unlike adam/noah there was no one to hold him back (not to mention barrington isn't as familiar with magic things(?) as they are). in that moment, whelk did truly lost it. he did the unforgivable. but there is no universe in which he doesn't.
for every time we see noah reenacting his death, we also need to imagine barrington whelk, seventeen and shivering. realizing as he's committing the act that he can't go back. perhaps realizing too that he couldn't stop his hands from gripping onto that skateboard, no matter how much he wanted to after that first hit. ("But instead, he remembered the sound Czerny made the first time he hit him.")
there's also adam in this. both him as a parallel to barrington, and as a strange sort of part of noah in a way. adam and noah interact the least out of the main group, arguably, but they too are a two-headed creature; they started out as one singular character and you can sort of tell. something something hands and eyes, something something sacrifice. ronan sort of parallels noah, in that he is not the same lively person we hear about, and he never will be that person again. both are cabeswater personified (although in different ways).
some more things:
"he once had been tight as ticks with his roommate czerny" "only whelk and czerny, treasure hunters and troublemakers" "it was possible that czerny's death wasn't for nothing after all" "[...] his days a ribbon floating aimlessly in water" (in relation to: "he had been a swimmer himself, once") "czerny, you're in a better place than me, i think" "whelk, standing in the wreckage of his life, didn't laugh this time" "the dry, half-eaten burger on the passenger seat / the first fast-food burger he'd had in seven years" "these days, when whelk was trying to comfort himself, he told himself that czerny was a sheep, but sometimes he slipped and remembered him as loyal instead" "[...] took him back to that moment, the skateboard in his hands, the sad question gasped in czerny's dying sounds "we were friends like —"
also, whelk dying in the same place noah did. these lines:
both noah and barrington look the same in the end. broken, rumpled, forgotten. noah's family will never know his bones were reburied outside of their family plot. whelk's mother, however distant she is, will never be notified that her son has died. i think in a way barrington died at the exact same time noah did; something something invited into his body through czerny's death.
basically what i'm getting at is, noah and barry could've been ronan and adam i think, had the circumstances been different. they never will be, but i think about it sometimes.
and there's so many more things i'm not even gonna TRY going into, like noah and whelk both being parallels to gansey (the three of them kings in their own right), or the disparity between whelk talking about czerny vs adele talking about noah, or whatever the fuck is going on with whelk's backstory in general (what's the deal with his mother? how the hell did he get the aglionby job? a random headcanon of mine is that his and noah's search for the ley line lead them to fox way, seven years before the events of the book, and that's partly why whelk refuses to give out his name to maura, because barrington is hard to forget, and easy to trace back)
there is so much to talk about here and i'm so peeved no one is doing it properly... why are we still talking about declan bringing his weekly girlfriend over to monmouth for no reason when we could be talking about whatever the fuck kinda soul-fate-destiny bullshit noah and whelk have!
#i know trc has its villain of the book thing but i am sooo disappointed whelk is never really talked about beyond#the first novel. like he's one of the only tangible links we have to noah's life... he was RIGHT THERE#he's so interesting to me. i rotate him and noah over and over in my head like they're in a microwave#trc#the raven cycle#the raven boys#noah czerny#adam parrish#barrington whelk#ronan lynch

one thing about drawing the posties is that (at least in my designs) raven and jill are wearing the most flamboyant brightly colored impractical outfits ever. then you have michael. dude in tshirt and jeans with a flannel jacket
#shaperaverse#trying to work on my asha design… she’s the only one i don’t have a good picture for. also william but he can kinda be whatever lol#an old childhood friend of mine was named asha and i can’t stop thinking of irl asha when talking about shaperaverse asha#trips me up when doing character designs lol#same problem with Jill but I wasn’t around my irl Jill as much as irl asha#Han’s problem is that I know EXACTLY what she looks like I just can’t draw it. same with lloyd. I hate his hair#shoutout to raven though. easiest character to imagine easiest character to draw. that simplicity makes up for how fucking complicated his#accessories are lol. at least he’s better than molly (cr). drew him once and my hands hurt for days#raven and molly should meet. that would destroy reality I think but 1) it’d be so so funny snd 2) they would enjoy the sex

There’s something so personal about the number of times The Raven Boys aligns Gansey’s relationship with Adam to his relationship with Blue
#like. he’s SOOO obsessed with Adam shxjxmnsbajcm#I’m only noticing how deep it goes on the reread#like ??? lines in blues narration where she’s feeling better about gansey when he reacts to her like he would Adam ???#gansey talking about how much he wants to look like Adam on the inside. in the same breath thinking about the next witty thing to say to#blue.#Adam only connecting to blue when he’s showing her ganseys quest or ganseys artifacts#it’s about. both of them being more appealing to her when they’re channeling each other#gansey and Adam want to wear each others skin SOO BAD it makes me CRAZY INSANE#gansey#richard campbell gansey iii#adansey#adam parrish#blue sargent#the raven cycle#trc#the raven boys

Dream telling Hob about all his names when they meet again is sweet, but I think it would be funnier if he just didn't. Showed up 33 years late, immediately admitted they're friends, sits down, asks Hob about what he's been up to, forwards absolutely no information of his own until Hob tentatively asks him what happened, and the Stranger just goes "oh I was detained. It wasn't because of you that I didn't show up. I'm sorry" and doesn't elaborate. Hob thinks the friendship isn't actually solid enough to pry past the guy's very much too guarded eyes, so they keep on this charade of Hob Gadling and his Very Strange Friend. Dream doesn't even tell him he's not the one allowing him to keep living.
I have feelings about this I don't actually think the persevering anonimity is funnier, I think Dream cherishing Hob's willingness to call him friend just because he wants to and not because he knows him as Dream of the Endless with Hob actually just liking him as the Stranger and being distraught he didn't show up and then happy he did, is actually the sweetest scenario.
#the sandman#dream of the endless#hob gadling#sandman fanfiction#i would like a 30k+ words very slow burn platonic fic with Hob just going along with his strange friend#occasionally he crosses paths with people like mad hettie and johanna constantine that mention him and he just can't connect the dots#people also don't know hob's strange friend is dream bc hob describes him very charitably and other people just don't know dream like that#i also love the crossovers#good omens and supernatural and even shadowhunters#just hob having this weird Do Not Mess With This One mystic signal#and people freaking out because it's placed as to be a warning but an anonymous one#'wtf even can feel like this' and maybe only the higher ranking angels and demons have their suspicions#in the meanwhile hob is trying very hard to solidify the friendship enough that he can risk asking the stranger if he's actually alright#and if maybe he wants to talk about it#and does he know anything about ravens because hob has befriended this one raven and he thinks ravens would fit his aesthetic very well#the stranger had just decided to entertain hob's attempts at making him drink anything and he chokes on it

everyone has their categories of little guys they gravitate towards but i kind of realized the one for me that has the most guys in it is probably "autistic-coded, well meaning, soft spoken christian guy" bonus points if they have a romantic (implied)/devoted relationship with another man who is more masculine than him
#not going to tag them individually so they dont clog up up their character tags but in order:#harry goodsir & john irving (the terror) | pvt toffler (ravenous) | boyd “bible” swan (fury) | oberleutnant robert ehrenberg (das boot 2018#DARK HAIRED BITCHES CAPABLE OF THE MOST SAD EXPRESSIONS YOUVE EVER SEEN ON A GROWN MAN#also realizing that toffler looks like the love child of goodving#boyd and don have something very deep and meaningful but don still surprises boyd despite their bond its very cute and miserable#toffler has reich who went on a murderous rampage when toffler was not only hurt but killed - reich loved toffler even if he tormented him#no but re: ehrenberg--#i was talking to harper about roberts devotion to hoffmann with hoffmann being an unintentional christ figure in the series and i went on#a long tangent about it and harper had to be like “actually they do genuinely make the hoffmann christ comparison later in the series” and#i sat there like 😲 like okay so i'm not delusional it really is there

Oswald should have been more specific. Instead of telling Gil to shoot Oz, he should have said kill him. One little word and things would be completely different. Oswald just can't bring himself to kill Jack.
#oswald baskerville#pandora hearts spoilers#pandora hearts#he only said shoot him#you have to be specific dude#act like you're talking to a genie#he was really bad at being a villain#did you even kill people at your party because you fail to kill everyone you want dead#lacie jack and oz#literally could have told gilbert to drop oz into the abyss#could have told him to use raven to destroy him#so many things#no wonder gil is the way he is

i know the bulk of headcanons out there are that hob is either aware of or just rolls with the supernatural, but tbh im so tickled by the idea that hob, despite being a 600+ year old immortal who inarguably knows at least one other immortal, has never once bothered to think about what that implies about the existence of the supernatural at large. give me immortal himbo king hob gadling out here having brunch with his sour-faced stranger every century but absolutely blue screening when later dream makes some offhand comment about the fae courts or hell or deities or dragons or some shit.
#hob gadling#look i just love a dumb smart man#and he is#hob is so fucking smart okay he'd have to be to live so long and NOT get caught#but he is also just Some Guy#and its way way funnier to think of his peasant brain just refusing to look past his own immortal nose if only to keep from losing his mind#I_Do_Not_See_It.jpeg#the sandman netflix#i want matthew to meet hob and watch his brain melt out his ears about a talking raven only to turn to dream like#“this? this boss? this is the guy you wont shut up about?”#dense's ramblings

Childermass & Segundus - it sounds very well
So one day the York Society of Magicians receives a new member, and Childermass is like okay, no big deal, those guys never do anything interesting anyway.
But then, right, then the new guy and one of the old guys writes to Mr Norrell and asks if they may have the pleasure of waiting on him sometime, and Mr Norrell is like "No" but Childermass is like "Actually yes" because he's intrigued, or because the cards have told him something is about to happen, or because Mr Norrell is years overdue to go to London and revive English magic and Childermass figures this might jostle him into doing something. We don't know what exactly happened, but it seems likely that it was Childermass who made the visit possible, because the idea of Mr Norrell ever wanting visitors is impossible to accept.
So these two theoretical magicians come to Hurtfew Abbey, and Childermass is in the library waiting for the visit to end and Norrell to show up and tell him what the men wanted, but instead, when the door opens, there they are, the visitors, having been invited to see the library and what the fuck did they say to old Gilbert to make that happen?? Not that it matters, they're not gonna remember anything by the time they get home, the enchantments will see to that.
Mr Norrell introduces Childermass, and the new guy gives him a look like Childermass facinates him, but Childermass is used to that. He figures he'll just hang out until they leave.
Except the new guy, who is a dark, timid-looking little man named John Segundus, keeps looking around like he can sense the spells lighting the room, keeps looking out the window like he's not happy with the orientation of the walls, keeps blinking like the magic is making him a little dizzy. John Segundus is clearly magic sensitive. No one in the York Society is magic sensitive, Childermass knows that for a fact. This is suddenly intriguing.
So Childermass ends up keeping half an eye on Mr Segundus as he explores, until Mr Segundus notices, sensitive as he is, and their eyes meet. Childermass reads longing, need, delight and confusion on the man's face, but Childermass is without pity; by the time Mr Segundus gets home, he won't remember what he's seen. It doesn't matter; no one in the York Society ever did anything interesting anyway.
But then later, the letter from Dr Foxcastle comes, and Mr Norrell is Upset and Offended, and Childermass realises that the Revival is about to start at last. And because Mr Norrell is fearful and Childermass is pitiless, they send a lawyer with their demands.
Mr Robinson the lawyer returns to Hurtfew a little perplexed. Oh yes, they all signed, just like you said they would, every one of them ... except ... except one. Childermass is a little surprised to discover that the timid little man had a spine after all. Mr Norrell wants Mr Robinson to go back and demand the last signature, but Childermass says "Wait". And at this point, we do not know what he is thinking. Perhaps he simply thinks that they will need someone to write to London once the miracle has been done, and Mr Segundus is more likely to be amiable if he has not just been deprived of his calling. But then, Mr Honeyfoot, the other visitor, would definitely be happy to write, even though he WILL be deprived of that same calling. Perhaps, Childermass thinks that this is a strangely fateful twist, that the one member of the York Society who has an actual talent for magic is the one person who refused to give it up. Maybe he remembers a time when he himself was full of longing for magic, when he could sense it all around him but was unable to grasp it, when he too would get dizzy in Mr Norrell's library. He may not feel pity, but he can be intrigued. He convinces Mr Norrell to let Mr Segundus be.
Childermass laughs inside when John Segundus doesn't recognise him outside the cathedral, but then startles when the man almost recalls after all. He is not supposed to be able to break the enchantment. Thankfully, the moment passes, and after the magic is done, Mr Segundus turns out to be exactly as easy to manipulate as Childermass thought he would be. The polite ones are easy, especially when they are full of need and longing, and keep looking at Childermass like he has the answers they are searching for. Maybe Childermass uses a little bit of magic to persuade the man to write to London, or maybe he just smiles, and waits, and lets John Segundus come to him of his own accord.
Childermass returns to Hurtfew Abbey and says to his master "Go to London. Go now." and because Childermass knows about these things, they go.
And nine years pass in London.
But occasionally during those nine years, Childermass turns his attention to York, to see what timid little John Segundus is up to. Mostly it's not much.
Until Jonathan Strange happens. That he happens at all is rather extraordinary, but how interesting that he should come to seek Mr Norrell on the advice of John Segundus? For sure there are many people with an affinity for magic in England, but how many of them are magicians? Too few, thinks Childermass. How likely is it that two of them should meet at random? He wonders if this is another fated twist.
So he continues to keep half an eye on York, just in case Mr Segundus should discover how to actually grasp the magic that surrounds him. But when Strange returns from the war in Spain, his conversation tells Childermass that even with the learning, even with actual spells to hand, their timid little man in York cannot make the magic work.
John Segundus begins taking on pupils. Childermass keeps it from Mr Norrell. Childermass has been the instrument of many a theoretical magician's destruction, Childermass reads the hearts of men and feels no pity for them, and yet Childermass keeps John Segundus hidden from Mr Norrell. Maybe, just maybe, John Childermass is beginning to feel a little bit of pity after all. He was once the one longing to master the powers that often overpowered him. He too loves magic so much, enough to endure servitude and secrecy to be near it.
But then John Segundus wants to start a school. Well, if he is going to be that silly, then Childermass cannot help him. Mr Norrell finds out, Mr Norrell panics, and he dispatches Childermass to York to put a stop to this evil plan. Business as usual in other words.
Childermass sits quite comfortably on the steps of Starecross when John Segundus comes home. Childermass delivers his message.
"You know me, Sir," he says, completely forgetting that while he has always had half an eye on John Segundus, John Segundus has not seen Childermass for nine years. Maybe, just maybe, Childermass is a little embarrassed at his mistake. But the errand is completed, and Mr Segundus is easy to manipulate, because he is so very gentle and polite.
Childermass may or may not have noticed that he has been manipulated in turn, because he, who has no pity for any man, lets Mr Segundus know that he regrets that the school cannot be, and he is willing to do what he can to keep Mr Segundus' dream from failing entirely. Although of course, he knows that a regular school is not at all the same as a school of magic.
Childermass knows what it's like to long, but he has found, if not the answers to his questions, then at least the tools by which to hunt them down. He can do the magic.
Then Mr Strange and Mr Norrell quarrel.
And then Lady Pole tries to shoot Mr Norrel. The lady walks with one foot in Faerie and one in London, and for a while, so does Childermass. Something is not right with the lady, but Mr Norrell won't tell him what magic he employed to bring her back from the dead. She'll be sent away somewhere where Childermass will have no chance to discover the truth. Unless of course he decides where she goes. Perhaps for instance to one whom Childermass knows will feel the Faerie winds blowing about the lady, someone who will be able to carry on the search for the truth, whether he knows that he's doing Childermass' work or not. Mr Segundus is easy to manipulate.
Childermass recommends to Sir Walter that he send his wife to Starecross in Yorkshire. How fortuitous that the master of that hall has just decided to open a madhouse there. Surely the visions that gave him the idea were entirely coincidental.
Mr Norrell and Childermass quarrel.
Jonathan Strange Returns magic to England. The Raven King returns to England and rewrites his book.
Mr Norrell and Mr Strange disappear into Faerie.
Suddenly, Childermass is the most experienced magician in England. No one has read as much, has practiced as much, or knows the spells he knows.
But he thinks that there is one man who will not be far behind him in achieving similar results. And maybe Childermass wonders sometimes if it was not all meant to be this way, that it was fate, that he himself was meant to come out on the other side as a student of the two great modern magicians of the age, and that he was meant to bring with him, sheltered under his wing, a dark, timid little man with an extraordinary sensitivity to magic. The books may be gone, but through his instruments, the Raven King has made sure that the new generation of magicians are both capable of and eager to read the magic written on the sky. It will take sensitive men, full of longing, and isn't it fortuitous then, that all those years ago, in the library at Hurtfew Abbey, Childermass recognised another like himself in John Segundus, and decided to keep half an eye on him.
#Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell#John Childermass#John Segundus#My little theory#This is based on the idea that the prophecy is actually the Raven King's plan to return magic to England#In which case Childermass must be the one Uskglass chose to spearhead the Restoration after Strange and Norrell affected the Return#We so often talk about how Segundus sees Childermass#But I am facinated by the other side of JohnSquared#Because it is interesting that Segundus was allowed to not sign the agreement when Childermass MUST HAVE KNOWN that he was the only man#in the York Society who might actually do practical magic someday#(Probably it's not as black and white as that but let's say so for our purposes here)#It certainly wasn't Norrell who agreed to let Segundus go - it was definitely Childermass' decision#And in the chapter called Starecross Childermass says “I turned a blind eye” - not “we” or “Mr Norrell” - but “I”; he's been watching#It seems to me that he is been protecting Mr Segundus from Mr Norrell for years - in little ways here and there#Mostly just by making sure Segundus didn't come to Norrell's attention#And then he expresses his regret that the school cannot be!#That's at least a halfpennyworth of pity Sir! You're not supposed to have that for adult or child!#I guess he has pity for baby birds#But they do have that thing in common (along with Vinculus) that they have an affinity for magic#But Childermass has access to the library at Hurtfew while Segundus and Vinculus only get scraps#And Childermass is allowed to do magic while the other two have to wait for the Return before they can control it#And I figure that maybe he can find in himself a little bit of pity for someone in that familiar situation#Not to mention that - being mostly a good man - Childermass is not immune - I think - to Segundus' kind and gentle nature#JohnSquared#Btw I haven't completed my current reread so apologies if I've forgotten something or gotten something wrong#You see how the details disappear towards the end :P#I also owe some of this to the Tor.com reread of JSAMN which is worth checking out for some great observations!

i can’t remember if i ever actually made the Ravenous Ghost Bell analysis post, but i wish i had time to make it because i feel like it would be received well in this moment…
#i mean… tldr: ghosts are real in Ravenous#mostly in the heads of the people who ate them#both to harass them in nightmares but also to influence their physical actions#(usually as an echo of something they themselves did in life)#there are COUNTLESS examples of this - which i will give the highlights of when i actually DO make the post#but there’s specifically a moment in the final Boyd-Ives showdown where a bell is rung#and we don’t see who rang it but it causes Boyd to focus and draws him to the barn where he sees the bear trap and is Inspired#and we can presume that the bear trap was Reich’s idea (based on that deleted bear trap shooting scene that i made the gifset of)#but then WHO rang the bell??#obviously it is implied to (and must have been) Ives#but why did he do it?#to get Boyd’s attention - naturally… sounds like him#he knows that time is ticking… wants to lure Boyd to his trap#BUT the thing is that Ives ate Reich too#and i feel like (being a long-time cannibal with no moral compass) he is probably Less influenced by the people he eats than Boyd is#but i also like to think that - in that moment - Reich subconsciously influenced him to do it#because - notably - Reich was the one who rung that bell the last time he left Fort Spencer - he’s the only character we see so it#so like. tldr again: ghosts are Real in Ravenous and Reich’s ghost rung the bell in that scene#to help Boyd focus and lead him to the solution that would give him the upper hand in the conflict to defeat Ives#and someday i will write ALL of that up properly - but it’s just SO good and i love to talk about it#so here i am#ghostposting the night away…#not tagging this because i want the REAL analysis to get notes whenever i post that#but feel FREE to chat with me about this if you see it!#i love Ravenous and i miss talking about it#i have SO much to say lol

Anyone else think that the voices Charles kept hearing were young mutants discovering their abilities for the first time and being absolutely terrified of themselves and what their families would think?
That he’s kept up at night with guilt because he’s too broken to help them.
That he lies there knowing that he could help them if he just pulled himself back together but he can’t do it because what happens when they are taken from him like all the other children were.
#Will die on the hill that they are all HIS children#I think that’s the voices he was talking about#the ones that tormented him the most#not the only ones of course but the ones that were the loudest#I can’t stop thinking about the fact that while it hurt him that Raven and Erik left he still kept going#he opened the school#he did his best#it was only after children were drafted into the war that he really broke#charles xavier#x men#professor x#watched all the x men movies for the first time in ages and they are haunting me

things that make me wanna do beautiful conceptual illustrations of melliwyk's party's bard's dad
#KADE HEARTWOOD THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.... OOOOUUGGHH#also: thing that makes me realize that kade being Like That was possibly not a coincidence and reaffirms how cool our DM is#my biggest regret in mel's campaign is not dancing with kade during the fancy ball infiltration session and getting to talk to him#because 1) only quinton knew that was his dad and was not on good terms with him-- in-character mel didn't know who he was#and 2) both melliwyk and I in real life got too caught up in 'oh I know EXACTLY which of these people is our mysterious contact'#'haHAA I have Solved Your Puzzle I don't NEED to talk to quinton's dad cause I already know it's not him :D'#[me rattling the bars to my own past] noooo jaaay that's why you talk to EVERYONE ELSE IN THE ROOM FIRST! JAAAY!! LIKE VIDEO GAMES!!! JAAAA#and then later quinton accidentally got him banished back to the afterlife (where he was supposed to have been the whole time)#before we got a chance to MEET HIM AND TALK TO HIM once we KNEW MORE OF HIS SECRETS RAAAAGGGHHH#.... tl;dr kade had been a champion of the raven queen thousands of years ago and we found his dead body sealed in a hidden vault#the kade who fathered quinton was breaking the rules to send his soul out into the world as a living thing (for Reasons)#the risk of which was that his body was Pure Soul-- if he'd died like that it would have destroyed his soul permanently#ANYWAY THIS IS VERY FUNNY TO ME BECAUSE I'M MAKING MYSELF CRY IMAGINING THE ART I WANNA MAKE ABOUT KADE#BUT I DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT ACTUAL PC QUINTON AT ALL AND FRANKLY HE OFTEN PISSES ME OFF LMAO#melliwyk's DM is one of my favorite DMs and also fellow players because he's Really Fucking Good At This ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#about me
