The craziest thing about Epic is that it didn't need Ody's canon to The Odyssey SA to show that Odysseus has lost his own autonomy anyway.
He embraces his side as "the monster" until you question, is he really? Or did he really have no choice?
Looking at the line of "I am not your kind and gentle husband" makes me think back to Just A Man.
It is shown that Odysseus really hates being soldier. He had no choice but to kill the infant because Zeus told him to. And Troy? If we look at The Iliad, he didn't want to go to war from the beginning. And this is the first real time he loses a part of him; his kindness makes him argue with Zeus, his gentleness makes him willing to raise the boy. But he couldn't defy the King of The Gods.
And then Polites tries to bring those parts back, even unintentionally. But Athena tries to tell him he can't do that--his mentor contributes to losing those aspects of himself.
Next is when Polites dies, and well, that's self explanatory.
Another is when Polyphemus kills some of his crew. Part of his identity is being a captain, a king. He knows how to lead people. But then shit went down and he slowly fails to be captain anymore.
And then Poseidon adds onto making Odysseus lose that side of himself more by killing majority of his men.
Circe's Island made him hold onto the scraps of being a captain he has left in him. But even so, Circe tried to lust him so she could kill him, which itself is bad. Though Circe lets them go, even though Ody was unaware of Circe almost killing him, that itself made him hold onto the husband part of him more. That's what got him out of it.
So the Underworld. He hears the screams of his men, and their last thoughts blaming him. Their last thoughts being "Captain, why would you let the Cyclops live when ruthlessness is mercy-" is them blaming Odysseus for their deaths. This makes him lose more of his captain side.
Then he sees Polites, and then his mom. He breaks down again after we last saw him do so in Troy.
And then Tiresias shows him his fate, which he misinterprets. Why? We all know the man is him, but why did he not think it was him? He was holding onto the husband part of him the most, so much that it blinded him.
So here comes song 20.
And in the Thunder Saga, we see him lose more of his gentleness and kindness. He's also barely holding onto being a captain by a thread.
Scylla is the entire explanation.
Mutiny is the last bit of that thread and it finally snapped during Thunder Bringer. He lost his leadership, he's no longer a captain. And quite frankly, it traumatized him so much already.
Calypso's island, though this version makes Calypso naive, she, like Jorge said, is ruthless in her own way. He was trapped. He was probably still holding onto the husband aspect of him subconsciously, as to why he never slept with her. But it was buried pretty deep.
"All I hear are screams" Who's to say he hadn't been hearing this for the past seven years, but that day he was so close to losing to those screams. He lost his side of being a captain, he lost his side of being a friend, he lost his side of being gentle and kind.
So his side as a husband is all he could hold onto anymore in The Vengeance Saga. During Full Speed Ahead, we see his king aspect through the lyric "Ithaca's waiting, my kingdom is waiting" but in Dangerous, he has no more king aspect. It's just him wanting to be home to his family at this point.
And then he loses himself more in Six Hundred Strike, as he lost his last bits of mercy when Poseidon offered him none. All that's left of him is wanting to be with Penelope, and his hopes of finally seeing his son.
The suitors' plans had been horrible. But honestly, he would have killed them anway even if they hadn't planned shit. He lost his patience for threats, he lost his mercy, his gentlessness. He is still cunning, but he's gone. Odysseus, King of Ithaca, is gone. "Old king" He's still king by title, but can he really manage a whole kingdom anymore? Like he used to since he was thirteen?
If it had not been for Penelope, he never would have embraced that he, no matter what, is still just a man, no matter how monstrous. But he lost so much of himself, and he knows. He lost his own autonomy, he lost what he knew of himself.
Finally holding his son and his wife yelling at him made him understand that he's still human, but post Epic/The Odyssey the man is already so traumatized, that he most likely forgot so many things of himself. He lost what made him Odysseus, King of Ithaca, which is a BIG part of him. Odysseus, husband of Penelope, father lof Telemachus, is all that's left of him. While those may be the most important parts of him, he's still traumatized, and only knows of himself as a monster now.
He is, quite frankly, no longer him.

Okay I'm gonna be posting one thing and one thing only about Epic: The Musical because my guy Eurylochus is getting done Fucking Dirty by a misunderstanding in the fandom. This will be long, but to make it short:
Eurylochus knows his Captain is going to sacrifice him and their men for himself. "But we'll die." is a last shred of hope for his friend Ody to reconsider.
Like listen to his voice in that part of the song. It's not surprised, it's not upset, it's not pleading, it's just.....broken. Empty almost.
Fuck, that bit in Mutiny basically confirmed that he knows they're not making it home. The man has accepted his death. He just....didn't want it to be like this. With his FRIEND showing so plainly that he'd betray them if it meant getting home. With or without them. (the man just saw a side of his friend he never thought possible he's processing some things leave him alone)
After the Scylla fight, he realized Odysseus was no longer above sacrificing his men, but seeing him try to rally them out of the Land of the Sun God before the consequences caught up to them showed that he still cared to protect them out of battle (I can't think of a better way to phrase this atm but you get it).
But once Zeus said "You or your crew", Eurylochus probably already knew the answer.
He's a broken and defeated man who tells his Captain, his friend, Ody that he's condemning them to their deaths. And Eurylochus knew the response before he even said a word.
But hey, I can't blame y'all for not getting it. After all, the line between naïveté and hopefulness is almost invisible lmao /j
#epic the musical#anyways Eurylochus isnt dumb and knew his best friend was gonna sacrifice them from the jump#let the man have one SHRED of hope before his friend rips it away#no shade im just a bit huffy lmao#but yeah thats my two cents and im tired so im leaving them there and not talking about it anymore lmao

The discourse surrounding Eurlychous and Odysseus in the thunder saga is so fascinating because extremely valid points can be made as to which one of them is in the right and which one is in the wrong.
Eurlychous' reason for staging a mutiny is perfectly understandable imo, but a lot of people call it hypocritical for two reasons:
1) Eurlychous' behavior in Circe saga. In that saga Eurlychous was perfectly willing to abandon the men on the island, while Odysseus wanted to save them, but like.. what was Ody's actual plan here? From any rational POV this was a completely unwinnable situation for them, and Odysseus probably would've got turned into a pig too if it weren't for Grandpa Hermes showing up and giving his grandson some handy performance enhancing drugs.
2) Eurlychous opening the bag of wind, more or less directly causing the death of the vast majority of Odysseus' fleet. Now, opening the bag was a pretty fuckin stupid move on all accounts, but I think also somewhat understandable given Ody's behavior earlier in the sage. In 'luck runs out', Eurlychous rightfully asks Ody if he actually has a plan on surviving the wind god's island, to which Ody replies 'nah bro just trust me lol' and shuts down any attempt Eurlychous makes for discussion. This is a HUGE redflag from a leader, especially considering Eurlychous is Odysseus' second in command. He, out of anyone, needs to be the one to challenge his captain, but Odysseus doesn't want that. He wants absolute devotion.
This is why Eurlychous says 'if you want all the power, you must carry ALL THE BLAME' during mutiny, which is a pretty damning line...but it also makes Eurlychous a hypocrite, because Odysseus never actually has 100% of the power, as evidenced by the crew opening the bag of wind, or Eurlychous asking to just fuck off from Circe's island. And when Eurlychous actually DOES have the power? He hands the reins back to Odysseus the second shit hits the fan. Where's all that accountability now, Eurlychous?
I have less to say about Ody, considering he's our central POV character, but there's still a few things to unpack. While his decision to go through the lair of Scylla is undoubtedly a shitty one, it was either that or die to Poseidon (or a raging whirlpool in the original poem.), so it was either gamble the lives of all your men or sacrifice 6 to preserve the rest. What else was Ody supposed to do?
The biggest mistake Ody makes here isn't the decision to sacrifice these men- it's not giving his crew the headsup about it. Had Odyssues actually TALKED to his men and warned them of their choice, maybe he'd even have volunteers. But Odysseus cannot fathom this, because he requires absolute obedience from his crew, and nothing less. My way or the highway. The viewer knows Odysseus is objectively correct here, but the crew don't. All they know is their captain just threw away the lives of 6 of their friends without any sort of headsup or discussion, so why the hell would they trust him?
That being said...I don't really blame Ody for his decision to sacrifice his crew in thunderbringer. Because he wasn't the one to make the decision to kill the cattle. That was PURELY Eurlychous and the crew's choice. Odysseus tries to warn them several times, but they don't heed that warning. Had Odyssues made a better effort to build trust and rapor maybe they would've, but still. If you want all the power, you must carry all the blame.

Hot take: Eurylochus' death is sadder than Polites' death in Epic.
For one thing, we got to "know" him longer. He is in more songs. We got to see this friendship as it was and how it soured. There's a REASON why Eurylochus was his 2nd in command. He was smart and knew what he was most of the time. Most likely, they were fine in the war but the monsters and everything else in the Odyssey are very different from a battle among mortal men.
Odysseus calls him his brother. I don't know if Jay plans to have Eurylochus be Odysseus' brother-in-law like he is in the Odyssey, but regardless, that does add to it.
We get to see the fear Eurylochus has, we get to see his doubt. His struggle to believe that Odysseus, his captain and "brother", actually knew what he was doing. As Odysseus WAS attempting very scary things that they've never really done before. Was he wrong most of the time? Yes. But can you blame him if you look through his point of view?
In some ways, I think Eurylochus almost KNEW his fate. Someone has mentioned it on tumblr but the fact that Eurylochus was so skeptical about Aeolus' island but was suddenly fine with eating Helios' cattle, shows that he just...didn't really care anymore.
Maybe he hasn't since he opened the bag tbh. Odysseus never says he "forgives him" after he admits to doing it. Odysseus was always the one to go back for their friends, the fact that he's changed so dramatically probably terrified him. As they were friends, and what happened with Scylla is now how he "treats" his friends, what does that mean for Eurylochus? Odysseus never said that he forgives Eurylochus, especially after what happened with Scylla.
The crew's "you relied on wit, and then we died on it" is almost a "prophecy" as these men are still alive but they DO die very soon after this. Odysseus "relied on wit" in how he chose himself over them. It's a reach, but I think you could even say that Penelope is his "wit" in this decision. She is the reason why he chose himself over them because "I have to see her." me too, Ody
His "But we'll die" doesn't even sound too desperate. I think it was one last try despite him knowing that "You will never choose us" because Odysseus would choose Penelope over anyone and everyone (Telemachus being the only other person who he'd possibly choose over her. I mean she'd be pissed if he put her before their son.). He already knew that Odysseus would choose her, I think he wanted some sort of answer or response from Odysseus. Maybe even an "I'm sorry" or something but Odysseus understands what this means but that doesn't matter as he has to see Penelope again.
Whether Eurylochus' and by proxy, the crews', deaths were already fated like in the actual Odyssey or not, there's just something so sad about seeing this bond go sour and how it'll never get the chance for forgiveness or resolution. It's done.
#like it's always right to choose Penelope over anybody else but it's still sad#saying this will get me killed but Idc :P#You can still like Polites btw. I'm just saying that Eurylochus' death is honestly sadder narratively and in my opinion.#I mean. I knew the moment Polites showed up that “yep. you're gonna be one of the first to die to make everyone sad.”#I feel like I'm rambly right now but yeah. I'm standing by this.#Mad rambles#shot by odysseus#essay#epic the musical#epic the thunder saga#eurylochus#odysseus

*Wisdom Saga Spoilers*
CW for spoilers and TW for mental health, PTSD, S1 and Su1cide.
Many people have probably touched on this, but in the last minute of the song ‘Love In Paradise’ we hear about Odysseus’ time on Calypso’s island. He clearly is still clearly struggling with the death of Telemachus and the rest of his crew.
These lines stand out to me:
“‘Odyseus?’”
“‘All I hear are screams…’”
“‘Ody, get away from the ledge.’”
“‘You don’t know what I’ve gone through! You don’t know what I’ve sacrificed! Every comrade I long knew, every friend, I saw them die! All I hear are screams...’”
“‘You will be fine dear, come back inside dear. Love of my life comeback~
‘Every time I close my eyes…’
‘~to paradise. I know your life’s been hard, I’ll stay inside~’
‘All I hear are scream!’
‘~your heart.~’
‘All I hear are screams!!~’
‘I love your mind dear, all of our time here. Life would be so much worse if you had died.~’
‘~Just let me close my eyes!’
~Please stay away from harm. Stay in my open arms.’”
Jorge captured the affects of PTSD so well. As a PTSD survivor, it hit home. The depression that sets in after a traumatic event is very intense and can be overwhelming. For survivors, we enter a stage of our bodies and minds trying to make sense and process what had happened. This is shown by the lyric above where Ody says he hears the screams of his crew over and over.
Often time we don’t understand that the event we went through was even traumatic at all. In an effort, our brains replay the events as a way for us to process it and it often just ends up causing *more* pain without proper help. Without help, we can dive into depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. This is clearly shown in Odysseus as well, since his brain isn’t processing what happened he then blames himself for the deaths of his crew and doesn’t know to how to live and cope with such a large tragedy.
This is also where the behavior of pushing others away comes in. This is a common behavior when you are depressed. It’s something that feels too large or traumatic to ‘burden’ others with. We withdraw the more our brain loops and struggles to understand.
If your brain doesn’t comprehend the trauma or make sense of it, it searches for escapes. Thus where suicidal ideation, hyper-sexuality, and self harm is introduced. It serves as a distraction, a way to cope or a way out of the pain. That’s why we find Odysseus contemplating and attempting suicide. He wants a way away from the way his mine plays and replays his trauma. He sees no other way out and is driven to the cliff. There’s a level of exhaustion that comes with constantly dealing with trauma, that exhaustion will also fuel suicidal thoughts.
And to circle back to the beginning, with PTSD survivors we experience a heightened sense of danger. Our fight or flight is on 24/7, so we will be slow to trust and quick to be on guard. Odysseus is showing these symptoms too, he does not trust Calypso and is quick to let her know that he doesn’t trust her.
So to cap this off, I feel so incredibly seen as a PTSD survivor. The things we go through when we are coping with our trauma and what comes with it are demonstrated clearly in this song. Thank you Jorge💗💗💗

ETM ACT 1 RANTS
So, I thought, since ACT 1 of ETM is now officially done,,, why not talk abt it? Y'know, for fun? Cause I have some thoughts😇 Let's begin, shall we?
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Also; TW: Mentions of death, violence, swearing (I think that's all. If you feel triggered, feel free to click off!!)
TROY SAGA
I have a love/hate relationship with 'The Horse and The Infant' tbh, like YEAHHH NEO AVENGE THE HELL OUTTA ACHILLES!!! But also oh Jeez, Zeus wtf man. Also when I replayed the whole ACT I was really scared that it was playing 'Monster', since they start with the same opening😭😭 (And yes it was on shuffle)
I FUCKING LOVE THE VOCALS IN 'JUST A MAN' Like oh meh Gods who possessed Jorge to sing like that, holy moly (hehehe refference). But yeah, very heartbreaking song, especially when that "when does a man become a monster?" part hits. AND THE "FORGIVE ME"S😭😭
In 'Full Speed Ahead' I love how Ody says "Polites!" cuz like THAT'S HIS BESTIE!!! YAYYY :D Also, I saw a tiktok that was depicting the last part (when Ody tells Polites to get ready cuz they're going over to that island, and Eury is like we don't know what to expect) as the trio with the 'Pessimistic Realist'(Eury), the 'Realist who doubles as a Sunshine Protector'(Ody) and, ofc, the 'Sunshine'(Polites) ((And Ody lowkey becomes a mass murderer when Polites gets hurt))
I swear 'Open Arms' will forever be my fav song on this Saga, I just LOVE how Polites is like a supportive bsf to Ody and is trying to get him to approach the world differently. The Lotus Eaters were probably so happy to get them to face Polyphemus so that they won't have to worry abt him
I hate & love at the same time how Ody shows one act of kindness and Athena's like "🤨📸 Are you slacking off work??? Nahhh, not on my watch." But also the hopeful "Goddess and man, bestest of friends!" and then the broken "Okay :')" break me everytime cuz like Ody really just wants to get close(platonically) to Athena😭😭
THE CYCLOPS SAGA
I hate how Polites is like "I can't believe there's so many sheep here, just for us! :D" like buddy, do NOT believe it😭 Also I believe in the headcannon that Polyphemus was really about to let them go before Ody hit him with the "Eye to Eye" verse
Didn't realise that in the opening of 'Survive', the ensemble sings the sylables of "POLYPHEMUS" before a video pointed it out (I believe the name was 'Epic: The Musical but only when someone's name is said' and it had the opening of 'Survive'). Also can we just agree that the broken "captain" in 'Survive' and the several "CAPTAIN!"s in 'Ruthlessness' are gonna haunt Ody forever😭🙏
I truly believe that in 'Remember Them', Ody was really about to just leave before Athena showed up and he decided to reveal his name, home address, and social security number to one of his enemies🤦♂️🤦♂️ But can you blame him tho?? Like I find it pretty reasonable to let your defeated enemy know who they messed it, so that they won't fuck with you or anyone you hold close again.
Even before 'My Goodbye', when Athena said "don't dissapoint me" in 'Warrior of the Mind' I was like "Then don't be dissapointed! How 'bout that???" (As you can tell I'm fed up at Athena's reasoning for leaving Ody. And then she has the AUDACITY to call Telemachus her friend and then disregard viewing Ody the same way🤨📸)
THE OCEAN SAGA
I relistened to 'Storm' during a school roadtrip, when it was raining heavily, and LITERALLY AFTER the song was done, the rain stopped😨😨 Also love the addition of trumpets to show that it was Poseidon who started the storm(cuz trumpets are his signature instrument if I remember correctly)
I feel like 'Luck Runs Out' is heavily skipped troughout the musical, but it's a really cool song that just radiates "Odysseus No. Odysseus YES" energy
'Keep Your Friends Close' is my fav song in this Saga bc I really love whoever sings Aeolus' role😍😍 Also the "Everything changed since Polites" line made me audibly and visually scream😭 Like okay, BOLD😤😤
I will always laugh at the "ALL I GOTTA DO IS OPEN THIS BAG" "WHAT" part😂😂 Like he just lost 557 men and he just BOLTS IMMEDIATELY. And I was really confused when Poseidon said "I mean you totally could've avoided all this, had you just killed my son", cuz like, wasn't it in the prophecy that ody was meant to blind Polyphemus, not kill him?? (This is not meant to show hate to this specific part, only to show hate to Poseidon, bc he gave PTSD to my fav boy and was wrong at the same time😤)
THE CIRCE SAGA
I immediately started crying at the start bc the opening instrumental sounds like the "Watch where the birds fly, they will lead us to land. There we'll hunt for food, my second-in-command" in 'Full Speed Ahead' and it really shows that now there's just the two of them, Ody and Eury, 'cause they lost Polites(whom I'm still mourning). Also the "What" and the "Damn" Ody says during Eury's explaination are giving me life😭🙏
I saw in an animatic of 'Wouldn't You Like' by Ximena Natzel on YT that at the last chorus Hermes was just throwing Ody around in the air and I feel like the "Oh-woah"s Ody sings are him going along with whatever Hermes is doing and he's enjoying himself🥺 (But not for long)
I have no idea what to say for 'Done For' other than I think it took over the entire fandom when it released on Feb 14th. I love how Circe immediately knows that Hermes gave Ody the Molly flower and Ody's like "Alr ya caught me, but hey, Imma still defeat you"
I also don't know what to say about "There Are Other Ways" other than the "Or maybe the world will need a puppeteer more!" part is making me question my sexuality😳 (ofc I won't steal Talya from Jay but I'm just saying). Oh also the "12 long years" part definitely took over the fandom at that point😭
THE UNDERWORLD SAGA
I made the BIGGEST mistake of listening to this Saga on a school roadtrip (the same one I was on when relistening to 'Storm') and almost CRIED MY HEART OUT when I heard both Polites and Anticlea's parts😭😭 there's also a sound on TT where it first shows Polites' part in 'Open Arms' and then in 'The Underworld' and I'm crying so hard😭😭😭😭
I love Mason's voice when playing Tiresias so much ong. Also: "Who?" Odysseus asked calmly. LIKE FOOL IT'S YOU!!!!
I love the song 'Monster' so much, mainly for the fact that Ody's asking himself if the other beings they encountered along the way feel as guilty as he does. I also feel like Astyanax is just vibing to the song and Hector's like "That's literally the guy who killed you???" And he's like "Womp womp. This song's fire!!" (Cringe, Ik, but you can't stop me)
On a last note: JORGE WHEN I CATCH YOU JORGE- /j
But seriously, you wound us, Mr. Jalapeño; YOU WOUND ALL OF US.
Hope y'all enjoyed my rant🤪🤪

Okay, so lately I fell in love with "Before the coffee gets cold" books, currently reading "Tales from the cafe" (The Best Friends chaper broke me :) ) and I've been thinking a lot about and came up with an idea:
Before the coffee gets cold au Epic The Musical (and Odyssey a lil bit) fic
Here's the general concept, haven't figured out all the details yet, but it's been eating my brain so I decided to share it here:
Basically the cafe is called Ithaca (duh), it allows to travel in time. It works the same as in the book, same rules - like not being able to change the present or being able to meet only people who visited the cafe. Owners of it are Odysseus and Ctimene (my girl is here because let me have the nice things), who inherited it from their parents. Also Penelope and Eurylochus also work there, helping their partners.
Seven years (number may change) ago Odysseus and his best friend Polites went missing. Poli's body was found but nobody have seen Ody since he disappeared. He's considered dead by most of the people (not his family tho!!!)
Currently cafe is run by Ctimene, Penelope and Eurylochus (who is there and doesn't die because I say so, tho that might change), Ctimene taking the role of Kazu, pouring the coffee to the ones who want to time-travel. Telemachus, who was ten (or maybe younger? still figuring out timeline) when Ody went missing, is also there. Athena too, I imagine her being like maybe some sort of detective and family friend. Telemachus is trying to covince her to pick up searching for Ody again. Maybe Athena and Ody had their massive fallout soon before his disappearance?
Story would be probably heavely centered around Odysseus being missing. I imagine Telemachus traveling back in time to meet his father again. Like him going back in time with camera or something like that, probably like lying to past Ody and Pen that it's anniversary gift for future them or something like that. And Penelope traveling to the future because she want to believe he will come back but just it's been so hard for her lately that she desperately needs a proof for some comfort (but he's not the one she'll meet there :)). Also maybe future Odysseus traveling long back in time to Polites because he blames himself for his death? Something like that, not sure yet. I also kinda want Athena to time travel, maybe to the day of the argument? Again, still thinking. Also I want to somehow incomporate suitors, not sure how tho yet. Probably more timetravels, but these ones are the ones I have in my head right now.
Also. ALSO. The ghost lady on the chair (who didn't drink the coffee before it got cold while time traveling). Yeah, its Anticlea :). Yeah it happened while Ody was away :))).
That's probably all I have for now, but might elaborate on this soon!
#also have the idea for Poliperenor side drama#with probably either Perimedes or Elpenor time traveling#might elaborate on this one if you wanna#anyways just a silly au that was born today in my head#so there's a lot to figure out yet#but i like the concept#may write this some day#epic the musical#epic: the musical#odysseus epic#eurylochus#polites#odysseus epic the musical#eurylochus epic the musical#epic the musical au#penelope epic the musical#telemachus epic the musical

Okay, you've made me realise that I misspoke in my previous response (and I used italics incorrectly lmao)
I'll start with the most important one - yes, I do think that until the very end Ody saw Eurylochus as his friend (as you wrote, he literally appears as a ghost alongside his mum and Polites)
However. I think this relationship was incredibly damaged by everything that happened, and these most important relationships have a way of being strengthened by tragedies. That's why, despite all my love for this character, after everything he and Ody did to each other, I could never vote for him
But I just need to address your really good points and how I look at it
sacrificing the crew
Yes, my mistake, abandoning the crew on the island of Kirke could be called reasonable - I meant rather to point out that sacrificing six men was also essentially the best tactic for survival, in a situation where you are in the middle of nowhere, chased by a god of sea and have to sail somewhere (but surely there is something much darker about deliberately choosing the death of six men than refusing to save them, even if it was ultimately to reduce the bloodshed associated with pointless battle)
(just to be clear, none of these decisions lie with my general view on the world, they are simply comparable in my eyes)
My point was rather that, of all people, Eurylochus could understand Odysseus - he himself was prepared to do something very similar, yet he completely ignored it and started a mutiny (I wonder now if the crew ever found out that Eurylochus had refused to save them…)
Nor does Eurylochus ever deny this plea by Odysseus in Mutiny:
Don't make me fight you, brother, you know you'd have done the same If you want all the power, you must carry all the blame
I interpret this as Eurylochus saying "that's true, but at the end of the day it was you who made that decision, so we can blame you for this"
while we're on Mutiny….
I just remembered how annoyed I was that the moment the crew, headed by Eurylochus, realised how badly they had screwed up, they immediately turn to Odysseus. Odysseus, whom they had just removed from power, thinking they knew better.
In a normal situation, I wouldn't put up with telling a person close to me very clearly ‘don't do that, there will be consequences’, but when it actually happens, they look at me, expecting me to somehow solve the problem
Eurylochus's advice
Did Odysseus need a man who could pull him down to earth? Absolutely.
The problem is that Eurylochus does it in public, in front of the entire crew, not only trying to talk sense into Odysseus, but sowing doubt among the crew.
When Ody pulls him aside at the end of Luck Runs Out this is practically the first thing he points out to him. A captain making a mistake is a terrible thing, but a crew left to their own devices…. well, Mutiny showed that, despite his flaws, Odysseus made better decisions most of the time (motivated by a desire to get home) than they did, focused more on the present moment, hunger and fatigue.
But even putting tactics aside - I think the friends know best that a public confrontation is not the best idea. While we obviously don't know how Odysseus would have reacted to a private conversation with Eurylochus - it seems to me personally that at least he could have focused on what was being said to him, rather than making sure his men don't fall apart.
I will end here, because we can point those thing for eternity and I didn't even started rating about Odysseus's mistakes as a friend-
I just don't think Eury was a really good friend in general. He was a decent man, he was trying his best, he was obviously tired and broken, but looking from perspetive of the first question, he just... doesn't stand a chance
And I still love him tho.
(i will probably get through every character in survey when it's finished lmao)
(i regret setting seven days instead of one for this)

Married to Dr. Woods III
“Momma!”
“Hey baby, how was grandma’s house?”
“Really fun! I got to play with Abby and she makes yummy cookies!”
“That does sound fun, I missed you though” Anya tells her daughter sadly
“Aww momma don’t be sad, I missed you too” she says hugging Anya
“Mommy missed you too, she’s in the kitchen. Go say Hi”
“Okay” says the little girl and goes to look for her mommy.Raven was in the kitchen making lunch for them since Anya earned some time off because of solving the governor’s sickness. They planned on having a lot of family time and to surprise their daughter with the new puppy they had gotten.
“Hey sweetie! I’m glad you’re back, we got you a surprise” Raven tells her daughter
“Oh I wanna see! I wanna see!” The little girl replied excitingly while bouncing up and down on her heels
“He’s out back, c'mon”
She followed her mother outside and there she spotted the little golden retriever, not that she knew the breed or anything. For all she knew, there was a furry little dog in her backyard that she was aching to play with. She ran towards the animal and hugged him really tight.
“He’s so cute mommy! Can Abby come over and have a doggy play date with him?”
“We’ll have to ask your grandma and grandpa okay honey?”
“Okay, what’s the puppy’s name?”
“Your momma named him Odie”
Their daughter nodded her small head and called for her new pet. She chased after him and vise-versa. Raven laughed at their actions and soon was accompanied by Anya who held her wife from behind.
They had their daughter 6 years ago, a year after they got married. Raven was on her second year of being a music teacher and Anya was on her third year of medical school when she was conceived. Of course they had help from the sperm bank but they picked a donor that looked a lot like Anya.
They named her Kaia Reyes-Woods and she was the little girl version of Anya. She had the eyes, eyebrows, lips, and skin tone. She had Raven’s hair, appetite, and goofiness. She sometimes says their sarcastic remarks and they blames themselves for that.
When Kaia is with Ava, Clarke and Lexa’s daughter, they are disastrous. They both are 6 so they had a lot in common and plus they’re growing up together. They had Logan, Octavia and Lincoln’s son but they ended up moving to New York. One of the pranks they did to their mothers was to replace their shampoos with a mixture of toothpaste and mouthwash to make it liquidy. They got in trouble so much that day but they both swore it was worth it.
“So I was thinking we wait for Clarke’s shift to end so Lexa, Ava, and her can accompany us to the fair tonight” The doctor told her wife
“Sounds good to me. Have you told Kaia?”
“No, I kinda want it to be a surprise”
“Well she’s going to be one happy child. A new puppy and a trip to the fair with her best friend and family? That’s the life” Raven says as she observes Odie jump on Kaia causing her fall
“Well yeah I mean she has pretty cool parents”
“I guess you can say we’re pretty dope” the brunette states as she reaches for her sunglasses that hung at the front of her shirt and puts them on
“I’m pretty dope, I don’t know about you” Anya jokes
She earned a slap to the arm from her wife, “Meanie”
“You love me”
“Unfortunately”
___
“Oh my gosh! Mommy can we get on the carousel?!” Kaia asks excitingly
“Anything you want baby, c'mon lets get in line” Raven tells the girls as they roll up their sleeves, ready to show their bracelets.
Some minutes later, both girls were on a white and black horse. Raven stood in between with a hand on each of their backs, just in case they’d fall or something. A mother could never be too protective, unless you’re a teen, that’s when it seems like they are.
“Who knew we’d have such a beautiful family” Lexa says
“I know, I still remember when you guys would always flirt in the high school hallways but neither of you made a move” Anya recalled
“Shutup, not my fault Clarke made me nervous”
“Excuses, you guys were such pussies”
“I mean you are what you eat so…” The dance teacher told the doctor who now had a disgusted look on her face
“Gross Lexa, I didn’t need to know what you two do every Friday night”
“Hey, you started it. You can only blame yourself”
“Whatever” Anya mumbled
“Hey babe, remember when Anya was so whipped back in college when she met Raven?” Clarke asked her wife
Lexa laughed, “oh yes, she literally left the dorms in the middle of the night to get Raven pizza because she was craving it”
“Where did you find a pizza at 2 in the morning?”
“The 24 hour diner down the road” Anya mumbled embarrassed
“That was goals. I know Clarke wouldn’t have done that for me” she said as she sent a small glare in her direction
“She was on her period, her hormones were everywhere” Anya tried to explain
“Who was on their period?” Raven asked with the two girls on her side
“No one” Her wife quickly replied earning a suspicious look from the brunette
“What’s a period aunt Anya?” Ava asked
“Something you’ll know later on”
“We already know. It’s a dot at the end of a sentence.” Kaia stated proudly
The adults smiled, “Look at that, you are really smart”
“I know, just like my momma” the little girl replied with much confidence
The smiley doctor crouched down to her daughter’s height and gave her a big kiss on the cheek. Raven whined since Kaia didn’t mention her too but then the little girl told her you too. Afterwards, Anya looked around the fair, trying to find a fun ride she could get on.
“Clarke! We have to get on the roller coaster” said Anya as she spotted the big ride
“Yes! I haven’t been on one in years”
Totally forgetting about their families, they sped walked to the ride. It was a race to them and their wives just shook their heads because they always acted like children when they were together. Even at the hospital when they got the lab results mixed up and told the wrong patient she was dying. The woman ended up selling her house, quitting her job, and breaking up with her boyfriend. When she heard that they had mistaken her, they were lucky she didn’t sue them. Of course Anya blamed Clatke and the doctor blamed the Anya.
After the ride, Clarke was feeling a little queazy. Lexa kept telling her it was her fault, she didn’t have to follow Anya everywhere. It seriously sounded like a mother scolding her daughter for doing everything their best friend did.
Then they decided to go get some cotton candy from a booth nearby.
“We’ll have 3 blue ones and 3 pink ones”
The little girls ate their cotton candy in excitement and shut their eyes as they enjoyed the sweet taste in their mouths.
“I can’t remember the last time I had this stuff” Anya spoke, “Probably because of all the glucose and fats in it” she continued
“You’re supposed to be on a break, stop talking all medical and enjoy the candy” Raven told her
Anya was about to reply but she received a phone call from the hospital.
“Hello?”
“Dr. Woods?!”
“Yes that’s me”
“We need you to come in, ASAP”
“What? Why? I’m on my break" Anya said as she raised her voice a bit. This made every one curious
“Yes we know, but we wouldn’t ask for you if it wasn’t an emergency”
“What’s the great emergency that I have to split my break in half?”
“There’s been a stomach flu epidemic in the hospital, it’s hit more than half of the staff and we don’t have enough healthy staff to attend them" the nurse explained quickly from the other side
“The stomach flu? That’s ridiculous. They don’t need escorts to the bathroom every time they have a bowel movement or if they have stomach cramps”
“It’s not just that Doctor, the effected are vomiting blood”
As Anya heard the word blood, she immediately knew it wasn't just the stomach flu. This was something more serious than that.
“Okay let me finish my cotton candy and win something for my wife and daughter. I’ll be there soon" then hung up
"What happened?” Raven asked
“Epidemic in the hospital, we have to go back in and help them. Then I have to figure out what’s wrong with them”
“What type of epidemic?”
“I’ll tell you in the car on the way there but first, where is the basketball booth? I’m ready to win some prizes”
___
After winning Raven and Kaia a couple stuffed animals, Anya was satisfied and apologized for having to go into work. She also told Kaia that she’d make it up to her and the little girl happily agreed and she told her momma that she understood that she had to go save people’s lives.
She was only 6 years old but she understood the importance of her mother’s job. At school she always boasted about her mom because she saved people from death. She also talked about her mommy because according to her, she was the next Beethoven. She only knew who he was because Raven would talk about him all the time to her. She was a pretty intelligent girl, I mean who wouldn’t be if your parents read music books and medicine books to you as an infant?
“Okay how many do we got so far?” Anya asked
“20 doctors, 45 patients, and 30 nurses”
“Make some phone calls and tell them we can’t be accepting any more people here. We’re not available until we figure out what this is” Anya ordered
“Yes doctor” the nurse nodded and headed back towards the nurse station
“What are you thinking Anya?” Clarke asks
“It’s something in the digestive or immune system. Let’s start with examining one of the patient’s, they will represent all 95 of them”
“Okay what should I run?”
“Imaging tests on the digestive system, then some blood work”
