living doll: since they don't technically have any living expenses, the army just kind of… doesn't pay them… so they don't have much to work with for gifts and frankly they don't really get the point of celebrating something like the day you were born on, but they let you dress them up really nicely and offers to match so they can at least make you look better throughout the day

lab experiment: gives you a handwritten light collection (it's a whole book) of poems and little pieces of art they've made of and/or for you. the contents are kind of concerning but the gesture is really sweet. also gets you some pressed flowers and your favourite treats, then ends up rushing back to their room to hide because they're worried none of this is enough for you

mage's apprentice: spends the week before your birthday asking you strange questions and hiding away in their atelier. you don't see much of them on the actual day until the evening when they shakily wish you a happy birthday and drag you out to the gardens, where they've prepared a special fireworks show just for you

disgraced god: doesn't know it's your birthday at first because the concept is kind of entirely foreign to them, but is not about to be outshined by the rest of your harem. they're always at your beck and call anyway, but they make sure to up the doting (and monopolise you as much as possible) to the max on your special day

crown prince: national banquet!!! no i'm serious he throws an incredibly extravagant banquet for you. his father isn't super pleased about the misuse of funds but allows it since the two of you will be married soon anyway. gets you so many gifts it's a little scary. at least one of those is a collar and leash he wants you to put around his neck and absolutely wants you to dig in to him

heroine: doesn't really have the financial means to get you much, so instead she invites you to meet her family and spend the day in her house. apologises for how it's not much but expresses how happy she is that you're willing to spend the day with her and makes sure to cook all your favourites

villainess: invites you to spend the entire week surrounding your birthday at her estate, and then spends literally every single day celebrating your birthday, including daily banquets and a massive pile of gifts. expressing worry that this is too much just makes her go harder, because clearly you don't understand how important you are to her and spoiling you more will fix this

1: not to worry! he's already chased off your three persistent noble suitors, so you can spend all day at your own leisure. and if you're upset—either at the hassle with the other three, or at his actions—well, you can always take it out on him? he's already always there, but like today he really turns up the doting. overjoyed when you push him out of the way while pulling on his hair at one point

2: pools together some of his savings to buy you a nice piece of jewellery. presents it to you shyly when you have a moment to yourself and offers to take you out to a restaurant if you're willing to sneak out… or you can have him in the comfort of your bedroom, if you'd like

3: just kind of shows up at your estate with a bouquet, a couple handmade plushies in what they hope are your favourite animals and some blessed protective charms. if they have reason to believe you'd react well, they might as well just straight up offer themself. not in a sexual way (unless you want it to be), you just own every part of them already so if it pleases you you might as well make it official

4: playing 4d chess with the crown prince and villainess to ensure she's the only one who gets to celebrate with you on your birthday. takes you out on a fun day to the capital, where she gets to buy you tons of gifts and also play the role of your personal princely knight

5: can't take the day off (spends a long time bemoaning this) but since it's customary for you to stop by his place of work for your birthday anyway he decides he'll just give you your gift then. gives you a very professional congratulatory speech, a slightly less professional brooch set that fits you to a t, and (if he thinks you'll react positively) a considerably less professional offer for you to be the one to give him nipple piercings

misc group:

house husband: makes you take the day off work to spend it doting on you. you best believe he's spent the last couple of months saving up some money to buy you gifts so tailored to you it's almost a little creepy. also brings you breakfast in bed, bakes you the best cake you've ever had and has a reservation planned for dinner at your favourite… and is definitely the type to tell you you have one more gift to unwrap at the end of the day (it's him)

horror protagonist: lol. she bounds up to you super cheerfully and gives you the eyes of her teammate, since you said you liked them so much a bit ago… you don't question how she knows your birthday at this point. is glued to your side the entire day (though you begrudgingly admit she's less annoying than usual) and offers to cook or bake something for you. doesn't mind (at all) if you want to take your stress out on her, but… she's trying to be sweet for today

6: takes the day off from his work despite your many complaints and spends it with you, insisting it's his turn to spoil you for once. you're actually kind of impressed at how accurate his gifts are to your tastes and how he managed to get them without you noticing. it's sweet until he takes the opportunity to attempt to coax you into taking advantage of him, lingerie in your favourite colour and style and all

7: spends his entire allowance on giving you the best day possible, but he's fumbling so hard for most of it. a special limited edition for your favourite game that's not worth the money, some admittedly very soft plushies of your favourite animals, and a new bag since you'd been complaining your current one was falling apart… spends the entire day trying to hype himself up to give you a kiss but doesn't quite manage. feels terrible about how lacklustre his attempt was (despite how happy you are) and vows to himself to make the next much, much more enjoyable for you

Bo watched carefully as the new group in town moved through the streets. They were calling out for someone, but wax doesn’t talk back… it never has talked back unless you listen carefully. Still, Bo watched from the shadows in his black suit and tie, his fingers fidgeting with his father’s sun ring. He was busy thinking who was dead, who was art, and who was food.

Then Bo saw her in knee-high jean shorts, bright yellow t-shirt with cute butterflies on it, and a ball cap over her hair. The breeze carried her scent, and it sent shivers down his spine; he found her.

He found his wife.

Reader POV:

As soon as you and your friends entered the House of Wax, a smile crossed formed. Not was the air conditioner running at high to beat the heat, but there was a stair case made out of wax. The art was beautiful and bright, and it was paused in the 70s style.

“Y/n, wait!” You turned your head at Liza. “Look! It’s you!” She and her boyfriend started snickering as she pointed at a pig’s head on the table. “They knew you were coming!”

You hugged yourself as you shifted uncomfortably. “Yeah, funny, Liza.” You move farther into the museum and looked at the waxed bookcase. “All of this is made with wax,” you whispered to yourself.

“Bet you wished it was made outta chocolate!” Marty, Liza’s boyfriend, laughed, his friends joining you.

You bit back your tongue and kept looking at the art and pieces. Under you, the floor creaked and cracked.

“Hear that?” One of his friends whispered, making you pause. “Oh, it’s not an earthquake— it’s just y/n walking around!”

Guess we know what broke the camel’s back.

You spun on your heels and hurried towards the door to find that mechanic—

When you opened the door, you bumped into a strong chest and stumbled back. You looked up to see a man dressed all in black with smoothed back from grease, and you could smell smoke and oil over his clothing, but it had a old country boy feeling to it.

He was startled that you were running out as soon as he was about to lay out his words for you in sugar, that was until Liza shouted, “Look out for Rhino!” Then they laughed you out, pushing past him and took off to the car shop.

He looks between your run and at the group. As much as he wanted to rip out all of their throats with his teeth, he decided against it. Instead, he put his fingers in his mouth. His whistle echoed throughout the building, and it silenced the laughter. Their eyes looked at him as he loosened his tie and pulled down his cuffs. His ocean blue eyes shimmered as they faded to a burning fire red, eyes twitching in anger. How dare they say that about you…

His boots echoed as he walked into the room. He turns, closes the door, and locks it. “Vincent!” Bo snapped, jolting the group’s shoulders. He takes off his jacket and throws his tie. His red eyes burned brighter, a snarl leaving him as he watched the group coward away.

As soon as he saw Vincent, he felt his fangs showing. “Now, we don’ take kindly t’folks like yourself.” As he talked, his boots echoed as he walked towards the group. They looked like cowardly sheep by the way the moved closer together. Bo could’ve laughed at the way the bigger one was trying to protect Liza. “Be a shame, though. To waste good food lik’ yer-selfs.”

“You’re-you’re a—“

“Aw, sweetheart,” Bo hummed, his drawl heavy as he and his brother corner the group. “Vampires lik’ us are rare. So… consider you lucky to see us.”

Vincent placed a hand over the mouth of one three men and lifted his mask. Long, pearly fangs showed before his bit down hard on his neck. Bo smiled as their screams echoed.

You were crying in the church next to the waxed statues in the pews. You found out that they were bodies real fast, but you didn’t seem to care much as your cries echoed around the church. You didn’t know how long were you crying in a ball behind the casket. You heard the whispers and murmurs on the tape reply twice already.

Then you hear the door open and boots clicking towards the casket. “Darlin’?” The man called. “Darlin’? Ya in here?” He didn’t wait for you to answer as he rounds the coffin and finds you curled into your lap crying. He frowns and sits next to you. “Now, why is a beautiful creature like you cryin’?”

“I’m-I’m not beautiful,” you cried. “I’m fat and ugly and-and—“

“An’ t’right size to show some lovin’,” he interrupted, saying those words like it’s a fact.

“You’re just saying that to-to be nice,” you sniffled. “You don’t mean it.”

He chuckles and leans back on his mother’s coffin. “Nah, honey. Can’t lie in front of my mama.” You glanced at him, and your eyes grow wide as you saw his hands and neck covered in dried blood. “Mama didn’t raise a liar,” he drawls. “I swear to ya, honeybee,” he glanced at you and flashed you a smile. His white canine s longer than normal… but you weren’t afraid. “I think ya t’prettiest thin’ I’ve ever seen. Shit, ya put ol’ Ms. Ambrose to shame.”

You laughed at his comment and shook your head. “Bet you charm all the ladies.”

“Yeah, I do,” he answers, “but I reckon I found myself an angel righ’ here.”

You look at him up and down. “Are you… flirting?”

“Am I doin’ good?” He leans forward and looks up at the altar. “I hope ‘m doin’ good.” He looks around and sighs softly. “I bet you saw the people…”

“The waxed graves?” You wiped your eyes. “Yeah. But it doesn’t scare me. I just… just needed to cry. Besides,” you lowered your eyes, “I’m a rhino.” Then you rolled your eyes. “And a southern vampire is going to kill me.”

Bo shook his head and moved to be kneeling in front of you. He took both your hands and said, “Darlin’, what do you want?”

“What—?”

“What do I need to give ya?” Bo asked again. “The stars? Moon? Shit, ‘ll give ya my dead-beating heart! Anythin’ just to see ya smile.”

“How about your name?” You asked, feeling how sticky his hands were from blood.

“Bo,” he said, bringing up your hand and kissed it. “Bo Sinclair.”

“Y/n,” you said, smiling. “I’m y/n.” Then your smile fell. “You going to kill me now?”

He shakes his head. “Be a shame if I did.” He stands and offered you help. “Wanna take you home, sugar. Wanna show you off to every person an’ my brothers. You’re just so damn cute an’ beautiful.”

You looked at him and the blood on his chin. “Promise?”

“Cross my heart,” he whispered. You didn’t hesitate as you took his hand. “I’ll treat you so right everyday.”

One date turned into another, then another and another. They weren’t fancy. Picnics and burger joints. Walking in the park, ice cream and coffee shops. They hung out even when they weren’t on dates. She would go over to Timothee’s and they would sit by the pool and sip beer or whatever he had in his wine cellar. 

“How would you feel about formally meeting my friends?” Timothee asked next to the pool. 

“Your friends that think I’m a gold digger?”

“They don’t think you’re a gold digger.” 

“That’s not what I heard.”

Timothee smirked. “Maybe if you would stop eavesdropping at the gate and actually come in instead of leaving when you hear the voice of someone who isn’t me.”

She gave a sigh. “I won’t get along with your friends. I know that.”

“How will you know if you don’t try?” He taps the underneath of her chin with his finger, making her smile. “I want them to meet my girl.”

“Oh, I’m your girl now?!” She said with added expression. “When did that happen?!”

“When you kept accepting my dates and kissing me.” He smiled proudly.

“We’ve never even had sex.”

“We don’t need to be sleeping together for you to be my girlfriend. Besides, I think the longer we wait the better it will be.”

“How so?”

“The build up and it actually means something. The more we wait the more we actually get to like one another and the better the sex.”

“It’s late, I know you’re exhausted. I know you keep extra clothes on the truck. We can order some Chinese and watch some movies till we fall asleep cuddled on the couch.”

“Okay?” His smile grew.

“Yes.” She smiled.

He stands. “Go get your clothes, I’ll go order food. You’ll have time to shower before it gets here.”

Y/N ran out to the work truck, grabbed her bag of clothes and locked the truck. She walked back up to the house and she could see Timothee through the huge glass windows setting up the living room, Apple TV loading on the screen. She smiled watching him fluff the pillows.

She walked in, Timothee turning to her with a smile. “Come on, I‘ll show you the bathroom.”

He led her upstairs. She looked over the newer parts of his house she’d never seen before. It was white, natural colors with bright whimsical paintings and art on the walls. It showed his different styles. 

“This is my room. You can use my bathroom.” His cheeks reddened slightly, which she thought was adorable.

“Your bed is huge.”

“I like to roll around a lot.”

“Oh yeah?!” She raised her brows and his face dropped.

“Not- Not like that! I just mean-” She silenced him with her lips on his. 

“Relax.” She whispered into his lips. “I’ll be out in a bit.” She backed away into the bathroom.

She stood in the wide shower with the rainfall showerhead. The glass walls of the shower quickly steamed up as she showered. His body wash smelled like him. Not too strong of sandalwood and a dash of mint. The shampoo was vanilla and ginger. 

She smiled as she showered. She had a small level of nerves settling in her and she wasn’t sure why. She stepped out of the shower and wrapped herself in the large fluffy white towel. It smelled of fresh linen. Looking at the marble lavatory she saw a fancy dish set up with cologne. She picked up the Bleu de Chanel bottle and gave it a sniff. It was the same one he had on now. 

She put on her panties and smirked, going into his closet, picking out a t-shirt, slipping it on with her pajama shorts beneath. Wiping the mirror she looked at herself in the mirror, his shirt baggy on her. She shook her head with a laugh at how he liked his clothes oversized.

She walked down stairs, Timothee putting the food out on the table in the living room in front of the couch. He glanced back and did a double take. A smirk was immediate on his face.

“Nice shirt.”

“I figured, why not.” 

He stands and slowly walks over to her. Slipping his hand gently around her waist he pulls her to him and presses his lips to hers. Parting his lips slightly he deepens the kiss just a little more before pulling away. 

“It looks good on you.” His smirk is devilish and she loves it.

They sit on the couch and put on some random ass TV show about underground fight clubs and dig into the food. He was surprised how much she got into such a violent show. He laughed at her reactions to the blood and violence. 

“Okay,” He stood. “I’m going jump in the shower. I’ll be back in a bit.”

“I’ll clean this up.”

“You don’t have to.”

“It’s the least I can do.” She tells him with the take out boxes in her hands.

Y/N cleans up the mess and wipes down the counter and table in the living room. Standing in the kitchen she was flipping through her phone when she saw Timothee walking down the stairs across the house. She did a double take and froze. He walked into the office in a pair of gray jogging pants completely shirtless, hair damp. She watched as his muscles flexed across his body when he leaned over the computer that the security system was on. For such a slim body he was extremely muscular. 

He walked out of the office and paused in the kitchen. “Are you ready for another episode or do you want to watch a movie?”

“I- uh-”  She stuttered as if she suddenly went dumb. “Y-yeah.”

“You okay?”

“Yeah.” She giggled as she walked past him.

He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back against him. “Liar.” He gripped her hips. “I saw that.”

“Saw what?” She played dumb.

“You staring.” He kissed her cheek. “Do you want me to put a shirt on? So I'm not so distracting.” She shook her head no. “You sure?”

“I’m sure.”

“Don’t worry, the feeling is mutual.” He backs away and smacks her rear.

She follows him into the living room and onto the couch. “Let's find a movie.” 

“Action, horror?” He asks as he lays across the couch, Y/N cuddling into his side between him and the couch.

“Romance.”

“I got you covered.” He pulls up the romantic movie section and they settle on a movie. 

It’s a comfortable setting. They are relaxed with each other and it’s easy flow of conversation and movements between them. Little kisses and playful touches. Timothee found more confidence with her and let his hands drift lower on her hips and thighs, letting his hand come to rest on her bottom as they watched the movie.

After a while he noticed she wasn’t talking anymore, and she’d stopped drawing shapes on his stomach. He looked down and she was asleep on his chest. He kissed the top of her head and rested his head on top of hers for a moment before sliding out from beneath her. He walked to the back door, locking in. The loud clack of the top lock woke her. He looked back seeing her wiping her eyes, sitting up on the couch.

“Sorry.” Timothee walked back over to the couch. “I didn’t think it was gonna wake you.”

“It’s okay.”

“Come on,” He took her hand. “Let’s go upstairs”

She followed him, her hand in his, pausing here and there as he shut off lights on the way to his bedroom. She had a sudden surge of nerves as she watched him shut the bedroom door and pull down the covers.

“Oh! I get it now.” She laughed. “This is good.” 

Laying her head on the pillow she felt Timothee shut the light off and pull her a little closer. 

“You smell like strawberries.” He comments.

“I had lotion in my bag.”

He buries his face into her neck and inhales deeply. He settles in behind her and it literally takes minutes before they are both asleep.

As promised here are some extra sketches based off of @nintendonut1 stories. (These were also written by Lilbluebox.) I've really enjoyed these, they have been coming out so quickly, so I wasn't able to keep up with all the stories in these sketches. These pieces were more experimental, some ending up being full pieces again.. (I'm bad at sticking to sketches...) With each piece I'll leave a bit of context and which story they are from. I will be going in order of the story. (All links will take you straight to the quote.)

While being a part of the Koopa-troop, Bowser wants nothing to do with this stupid wooden doll. Can't they just leave him in peace? How dare they go over to His bed. The last thing he wants is a therapy session with a star possessing Pinocchio.

“We’ve got a witty banter thing going on. I don’t expect you to understand, Princess.” Hey, looks like Bowser's hatred ended sooner (rather than later.) They are now best of friends. In fact, they have a lot of banter no one else would understand. Isn't that right Geno?

"how could one escape a torment like this–-"

While star hill isn't full of wishing stars, when you are a star, it can get to your head. Sometimes it might feel like you're drowning in the impossible sea of wishes from those you will never meet.

"Geno felt ill. This was positively cruel. His first wish, as an inhabitant of this world, and it was this."

This piece was a lot more experimental. After watching the new spider verse I loved the art style and was inspired to make a piece based on the style of this section of the film. I think it fits well with the scene as the two moods of the characters are conflicting. Bowser doesn't know the true seriousness of the current situation, While on the other hand, Geno's overwhelmed by it.

"Mallow hoped he made a good pillow."

Here's a little bit of a nicer one. I won't spoil too much, but Mallow just wants to look out for his friend, especially with the current situation going on. His fluffiness comes in handy for situations like this one.

“Look, look!” He puffed out his squat little chest, showing off the tiny Koopa shell design adorning his fluffy skin. “I got an official Koopa Troop sticker for a job well done!” I won't spoil too much again, let's just say Mallow's the supportive powerhouse in this part. He's the best boy and the most hopeful team member. If you want to read these stories in full I will be leaving a link here to all of them. Winter HCs

°Characters & reader pronouns: Shanks; Benn Beckman & GN reader in mind

°Synopsis: What would winter with these two fine pirates be? (Add to it a sprinkle of the crew shenanigans)

°A/N: I did it with GN reader in mind, but if I missed smt, pls let me know.

Cozy moments in the quarters. Just you, Shanks, Beck, and your hot beverage of choice. And yes, there are definitely plenty of eggnog refills. 

Speaking of eggnog, Roux has mastered the art of most alcoholic, while still delicious eggnog…, and now the first mate is on babysitting duty twice as much. 

Despite the crew being a loud one in general, I can guarantee that both Shanks and Beckman love those quiet winter moments - candles, fluffy blankets, yummy beverages, and time, which feels like it has slowed down so you could fully appreciate this all. 

Be prepared though. The second the deck gets under a blanket of snow, chaos ensues; even if only among the three of you, though more usually than not everyone gets dragged into this icy war. And while yes, Shanks usually starts the fight, don't get fooled by the usually laid-back Beckman. He can, and will, throw the snowball with scary accuracy…

Usually, you and Shanks get together to bring the first mate down, but occasionally your lovers side against you, and well… good luck, you are screwed.

Fair warning: if the crew is involved, be prepared for them nagging the hell out of Yasopp and Beckman, riling them up, until it ends in a snowball sharpshooting competition… It has already happened several times, and you can't convince me otherwise.

Baths. Especially after playing in the snow. Shanks has a bigass bath,  which can fit the three of you comfortably, so that's where you go for the evening - if it's time.

On another note - Shanks is a little shit! Even more in the wintertime. He will have the cutest and most innocent look on his face… and then he will shove his icy cold hands under your clothes - cuz gloves are for weak! - all while sporting a proud smile. He is happy, cuz he caught you unaware. Meanwhile, Beckman leaves the moment he sees that look on his lover's face; he fell for it far too many times than he wants to admit. And no, he doesn't alert you. Learn it the hard way - as he had to.

Beckman will, however, make up for his betrayal by being extra cuddly. I like to think that he comes from a fairly warm island, so he isn't the best in dealing with cold weather… Luckily Shanks runs hot, and who wouldn't mind some extra cuddles with this fine man, you certainly don't. 

Beckman can't skate. He just doesn't do it. I mean, Shanks can't skate either, but only when sober - no one knows why or how, but the moment Shanks gets on the ice drunk… he is a pro ice skater. He is not allowed though, Hongo banned him, saying that he doesn't need any more stress in his life. He would like to have his hair stay blonde for at least a couple more years. -

Speaking of the duo stressing the hell out of the ship doctor; Lime Juice made a bet with Shanks once, that Shanks can't persuade the first mate to try skiing… A week later Hongo was the one who collected the money to buy a splint for Beckman´s broken leg and sprained wrist, while Shanks mopped around being scolded by the doctor.

So, all I am saying is: “Good luck, you will need it. And please give extra appreciation to the ship doctor, for making sure they survive the winter months, okay.”

Extras under cut - Wips, rambles, the whole nine yards

Over the course of 2 months, this piece took us nearly 16 and a half HOURS. Up until switching to Procreate I never had an art program that timed how long I worked on something. If CSP has this feature I must've not been able to find it.

The amount of time is pretty stunning to me. I'd say 16 hours isn't that bad! At least by my own standards.

Absolutely shocked by the amount of strokes btw. That's fucking insane.

So for once I actually went at this with a few thumbnail sketches and this was the winner out of the 3 and I blew it up to size and started the finalized sketch.

The funniest thing is I started this right before my art style decided to change so I hope you enjoy the old art style :P <3

So, I did something interesting here. In the past when we would do full pieces we would do a lineless background, so everything besides the characters were painted lineless.

THIS time we decided to line the background with maroon instead of black to help break up the characters from the background so they pop! more and I really like how it turned out and we're happy to say this has carried over into other pieces. :]

I want you to pay attention to Scar's wheelchair in these shots, it's the only thing that changes. I remember doing the shading on the background and main color on the characters all in one night because I was having a bad bout of insomnia and I posted my progress in the artist wip-sharing channel on our event server and looked back at it the next morning and was SO embarrassed I had to fix it. This is also when I changed references.

For some reason I didn't capture any in progress shots of the shading but we did manage to get a few shots of Grumbot. :] He's modeled after a labadoodle! While working on this the team and I discovered that's what they were originally bred for, to be hypoallergenic guide dogs! Isn't that cool!?

6. What is your favorite part of this piece?

Ooh, that’s tough. I’d probably have to go with the four-part sequence of Frodo falling down in Part Three. There’s just something really fun about drawing in that tiny art style and capturing the sense of motion and exaggerated posing; you get the sense that with a few extra frames, you could watch that sequence as an animatic and it would just flow perfectly.

But honestly, I remember that I had an absolute blast every time I got to draw one of the hobbits splat on their faces 🤣🤣 It’s SO MEAN, and I feel so bad about it, but crazy dynamic poses like that are so much fun (and so hilarious LOL)

13. What Easter eggs/small details are hidden in this drawing?

Good question! In Part One, Aragorn and Boromir’s boots are the only ones the hobbits are using; you can tell which is which by how tatty Aragorn’s boots are contrasted with the fluffy fur on Boromir’s.

In Part Two, we still have Aragorn’s boots in play—in fact, the panels with Frodo and Pippin take place directly after their respective attempts at walking in Part One—but now we also have Gimli’s boots in play, as we can tell by the X pattern and the fact that Gimli is now in socks. I imagine he theorized the hobbits were only having trouble because the shoes were way too big for them, so he offered his own to be closer to the right size, and also lent an arm to Sam for stability.

The last panel of Part Two (pictured above) features Boromir and Legolas in poses from the Chris Evans Laughing meme and Aragorn posed like the Wheeze meme. That was a lot of fun to draw. X-D

My favorite detail is actually in Part Three: After faceplanting VERY HARD in Part One, Frodo makes a tactical decision not to risk the structural integrity of crucial corrective eyewear and sets his glasses aside prior to another attempt. This proves very wise. (Also when Aragorn bends over Frodo, he is of course wearing no footwear but socks, because Frodo has his boots.)

17. What did the drawing process look like?

I’ll be honest, I don’t really remember—since it was such a long time ago and I was drawing SO MUCH stuff back then—but I do recall that Part Three took a lot longer than I thought it would. But I know I was Very Excited to have the opportunity to draw such a hilarious prompt, so I had a lot of fun with it!

18. What was your favorite response to this post?

Probably all the new people who were seeing my art for the first time and saying something along the lines of “👀 nerd Frodo?? glasses?? inspired”. Also the one person who complimented Legolas with a ponytail X-D

the best one out of the bunch. holy shit they went fucking hard on this one. i think they know it because this song is the only one with vocals lol. like... even tho they dont really reference a lot of the two song's artworks, they really took the time and effort to reference both Pop'n Music and Beatmania IIDX in the best way possible. like tran and mimi... Design Chatter - MLP Grand Line Gang!

I really enjoyed rambling about the East Blue Crew, so I'm back again to talk your ears off about the rest of the crew now that I've finally posted them! Once again, fair warning that this will be long and there will be spoilers!

I kept a few simple guidelines for myself in mind:

Keep it fun and surprising, in the spirit of the original!

I draw in the G4 style, but features from every gen and toy line are fair game

I love back card / blind bag style character blurbs. I live for crumbs of worldbuilding XD

I've purposefully not included cutie marks because I suck at drawing them and I'd never finish a piece if I had to draw them :v (maybe a post for another time?)

🌸Chopper🌸

In-universe:

Further than the Crystal Empire, even beyond Yakyakistan, Chopper hails from the frozen north. A skilled potion maker, he loves to brew warm healing tonics with ingredients found on the mountain. He's hoping he can learn to skywalk like the Reindeer in Robin's books!

Design:

Every now and again, it's nice to do a 1:1 translation of a character rather than a full reimagining! Reindeer appear in G4 during the special Best Gift Ever, so it's the little changes that make Chopper 'ponified'- the lighter patches on his face, ears and tummy. The swirls in his inner ears. Changing his hoof/antler colour to be just a little more pink. One thing I did add was little baby deer spots shaped like blossom for an extra pop of colour!

I chose to draw him in Defence Point because it's cuter 🥺 my mind also thought to draw Brain Point in the Equestria Girls style and I'm not sure the world is ready for that 😂 Defence Point was also supposed to harken back to a popular fluffy fan character- before I found out their creator isn't someone I want to be celebrating. But you live and learn when trying to reference fandom culture 🤷

📚Robin📚

In-universe:

Many hooves make light work! Having studied at the Mythica University and Golden Oak libraries alike, this magic scholar always has a spell to get her crew out of a pinch! During her travels, the wily CP9 tried restraining her magic with a tennis ball!

Design:

Hm. Put into pony form, Robin kind of looks like Twilight. Similar key colours and hairstyles can't really be avoided. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, though. Something about this combination must just give off 'bookish'! Besides, there are plenty of character foils to Twilight that look like her in canon, too. Moondancer, Sunset, Starlight... Robin could fall into this category- a promising student led astray by forces beyond her control. It certainly isn't easy being a magic student.

Rather than an odd outward appearance, Robin's fear factor is based on people's perceptions of her abilities. I feel like she's similar to Nami in looking normal and still getting demonised. Left to her own devices, she just likes to travel and study! So I didn't want to give her a super edgy design and feed into those misconceptions. Robin is at her coolest when she chooses to be wicked for herself!

She's a normal pony, but she's still a little more dark and mysterious than someone like Twilight. That sweeping black mane, heavy hooves, and curved horn—not to mention that colourful glint in her eye—make her sturdier than a Unicorn like Sanji, and her calm confidence lets you know it! I like to think Nami has inspired her to look into getting a big flowery leg design, but she's a little worried about being even more recognisable.

⭐Franky⭐

In-universe:

Self-acceptance and found family are super! Building each other up is almost as satisfying as building new airships... almost. This loud n' proud Griffon makes Canterlot cruisers and Ornithian pirate ships alike! Lately, within the crew, he's been helping Usopp come to terms with being a Cutie Mark-less creature. Every creature has worth and is deserving of love, with or without a mark!

Design:

Franky just kinda washed up from somewhere and that really ignited my imagination when it came to his appearance. From the start, I was adamant that he should be a creature with 'fingers'. There's something about crafting with your hands that can't be recreated with Unicorn magic.

MLP Griffons are known for their strong personalities and love of precious metals- so I thought one was a great fit for the unapologetic, totally authentic Franky! This larger body also gives him more space to customise, more feathers and fluff to style!

Horse noses are very closely linked to the shape of their mouths, so having the top half of his beak be metal avoided a lot of weird imagery. His pre-time skip design shows less of his cyborg nature, but being able to use bird forelegs definitely helped to dampen the weirdness of his bulky arms more than the noodly legs of a pony. Without the differentiation between fore and upper leg, I think he'd just look swollen! Besides, you do not want to take a strong right with added claws 😬

I think it's definitely easier to imagine a solo Griffon making ships than a solo pony! His large wings and long tail help keep him safe and balanced while he works high up, and his muscular back limbs help shift heavy materials. Those back legs are coloured to look like his Speedo, as they appear less fluffy than the rest of him.

🎶Brook🎶

In-universe:

This lifelong sailor knows no pony is an island. Music can bring every creature and animal on the seas together- if only you stop to listen ❤️ All our paths are bound to cross again one day, even if the seas are wide! Magic works in mysterious ways, no bones about it!

Design:

I felt that if I was going to go to the effort of drawing a full pony skeleton, I didn't want to then cover my hard work up with clothes. Now I'm thinking I should've- the structure on those limbs was hard to draw! I looked at real horse skellies, the Hidden Dissectibles figures, and even the 'Don't Mine at Night' MLP crossover parody song... None of it made it any easier 😂 would not recommend.

Seeing as there wasn't much I could do with his base design, I decided instead to add to it! In the climax of the Rainbow Rocks movie, the Siren villains summon giant magical projections of themselves to attack. This reminded me of Brook's soul leaving his body- so that's what I drew! Though it doesn't have any mind control powers, I still wouldn't advise touching this frosty apparition... or any of the sound waves it produces!

☀️Jinbei☀️

In-universe:

Design:

Keeps up with 'current' affairs! This sagely Seapony is a pillar of the community as well as Equestria! He helps the crew stay on course (emotionally and literally) as the world changes and expands around them- it's always an exciting time both above and below the surface!

I should've been more forward-thinking and drawn him up for Mermay! Seaponies have a long history with the MLP universe, appearing alongside their land counterparts at the start of G1- a fact I think is very fitting for his character. Of course, Jinbei's design is based on Whale Sharks, and Fishmen/Merfolk as a whole are so unique with how they can be designed. Seaponies too are different in every generation- so I had a lot of fun incorporating as many unique elements as I could!

I couldn't exactly make a horse wide and flat to mimic a Whale Shark's body as he does in his canon appearance, so I decided instead to lean in more to the cute spots and shark-shaped tail fin! Then I extended his sideburns to create a softer border between his body colours and to add back some visual interest lost by removing the large membrane fin G4 Seaponies have. Jinbei is already pretty hefty and strong, so a little extra fluff doesn't noticeably slow him down.

It's certainly more difficult to imagine hair as fins; they're so much more rigid. Without individual strands or the ability to curl like natural hair, it's a lot harder to suggest diverse textures. But I still think the semi-transparent look is a lot of fun to look at and layer, and it helps his blonde streaks stand out!

Though I could've put the sun brand on his flank, it just didn't look or feel right when we're so used to seeing it on his chest. Seaponies don't usually get their own marks, and the sun is a widely used symbol of freedom. Leaving his flank free still gives me the option of giving him a unique mark in the future- he's still a prominent individual in his own right!

Much needed context: one of my ocs had three boyfriends during his entire life and I once had a thought like "yo wait what if they were all the boyfriends in that one terribad webcomic lmaooo" and so my very very good great wonderful ranchy fishy fishy fish fish friend @fishyfishyfishtimes cooked this up. Thank you Ranch for your sacrifice.

I promise my characters aren't poorly written gay stereotypes bro they just ARE lowkey similar in a weird way. Like if someone were to do some shittyass thing with them this is what they'd cook up (I like thinking of this stuff sometimes although some of it is unwanted too). I don't hate my ocs, I promise.

We're going to explore this sub-genre of Earth science and art like it's the latest Netflix binge-worthy sensation.

First, let's set the stage with a little context. Imagine the atmosphere as that one really dramatic friend we all have – you know, the one who's always extra. This friend doesn't just have a bad day; they have a full-on meltdown with lightning, thunder, and torrential rain for effect. And then, when they're in a good mood, they whip out a light show better than any EDM festival – hello, auroras! alright, we all should know the amount of love heeseung has for gaming. we all saw that one enlog where he played video games and i literally just died there. like imagine playing video games with him and then beating him. he'd be all pouty after losing-- anyways back on track. he'd want to buy you a gaming set up or a controller so he could teach you how to play video games so you both could spend more time together.

jay ー clothes + food

jay in any opportunity he has would love to style you. as our jay is a rich rich boy he'd probably buy you clothes! it'll be so cute for him to be out picking your clothes, wondering what'll fit you, what style you like, etc. he'd be so focused looking for your clothes and if only you were there to tease him and tell him how cute he looks. the food he'd be getting you is normal for him as he cooks for you a lot. i'm not talking about getting you chips or something-- i'm talking about cooking for you. :(:( softest cutest bby cooking breakfast for you then handing you your presents. (brb crying)

jake ー plushies + games u both could play

honestly i see jake getting you something cute like plushies. with his child-like personality and the fun he always wants to have, plushies is something that fits perfectly. he'd get you those big squishmallows that remind him of you and little plushies that can look like layla or whatever your fav animals are. next he'd probably buy you board games or card games you both could play whenever you went over to the dorm, or whenever you both went on trips or something.

sunghoon ー ice skating shoes

though hoon doesn't ice skate as uch as he used to, i honestly think he'd love to take you out on ice skating dates more often. it's such a romantic thing to do and he'd love love love them. love teaching you how to do his passion that he once did all the time, love being on the ice, and seeing you skating w him. he'd love it that he'd rather just buy you shoes so you won't have to keep renting from the ice skating rink.

jungwon ー matching jewelry

jungwon's simple. he wouldn't want to give you anything too extravagant or too extra/too much but he'd want something cute and simple. something you'd still enjoy. he'd want matching rings or matching necklaces, whatever it is. it'd either have cute designs or cute letters that had y'alls initials on them. :(:(

sunoo ー selfcare products

sunoo takes care of himself a lot and he'd want you to as well. yes yes, i know i've done this before as a gift for him but wouldn't it be cute to have you both have cute matching selfcare products or for you to do your skincare together? :(:( he'd buy you a cute little set with your own little fluffy headband and towel that match together. plus he'd buy you some makeup too. (if you wear some ofc) just things to take care of yourself as he wants you to be safe and take care of yourself when he can't be there.

riki is adorable when he's drawing and he seems pretty good at it, too. he'd make you this cute little drawing of a photo of you, or a drawing of a dog or other animal that reminds him of you. he'd want to draw with you so he'd also buy you art supplies. like the rest of the boys, to spend more time w you.

MAGGOTS! MAGGOTS! LOOK LOOK! ITS A CARE PACKAGE FROM @dysphorie

Okay so like I am so sorry for this being so late! This came in the mail forever ago! I've just been so busy! BUT MY FRIEND ORDERED @dysphorie 's SLIPKNOT COLORING BOOK! So in the picture above the ONLY thing she paid for was the coloring book BUT LOOK AT ALL THE GOODIES THAT CAME WITH!!!

Here is a picture of just specifically EXTRA ITEMS!!! And hang tight I'm going to go through a review of everything! But I just want to say thank you so much @dysphorie for putting all this effort into her order for my birthday gift! It was already going to be spectacular when she ordered it, but when I actually got it I was blown away by the level of care everything was packaged and the personalization of everything sent!

So obviously the most anticipated item first: the coloring book and colored pencils. WOW THE QUALITY OF THE PAPER IS AMAZING. SO THICK AND DELICIOUS AND CAN TAKE MY SHADING LAYERS FROM MY PRISMAS!!! WE LOVE TO SEE IT!!! Every picture is unique, and there are varying styles in the book that make it so fun and interesting. It never gets dull as you go through the pages. It is also true to it’s name that it is an activity book, there are some draw in your own stuff, and other activity book games with areas to color, too on the same page (because if you are like me, drawing your own things stresses you out so there are other things to do on those pages). Overall you can tell the level of care that @dysphorie put into this true work of art is noticeable to even those who aren’t Slipknot crazed (as proven by my boyfriend who likes the band, but isn’t crazy like me. But he thought the book was just so cool and was envious that I said I am the only person who gets to touch it because I am a perfectionist and I can not WAIT to spend hours on each page). The colored pencils were a very nice touch! I will not be deceitful, I have been an artist for a long time so I have my own colored pencils that I use that are for blending and that I like. HOWEVER THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS INCLUDED FOR FREE THAT DID NOT HAVE TO BE INCLUDED!!! And is great for those who might not have their own preferred colored pencils. Or if you have your own, guess what you got a free pack of colored pencils that you can use some other way!!! 

On to: THE FUCKING EXTRA SID PINS THAT JUST MADE MY HEART MELT. Okay so if you don’t already know Toad loves Sid, and then you put Sid on a little thing that I can touch, wear, and hang up, it very much so pleases the little crow brain Toad has. They are currently hanging up in my room because I am scared to death of it falling off somewhere. So I can just stair at the little rat for hours. JUST TO CLARIFY AGAIN, I DID NOT PAY FOR THE PINS @dysphorie INCLUDED THOSE FOR FREE. And the fact that they were all Sid ones (except one Slipknot band logo one) proves that she knows her people in her fandom and goes the extra mile to send them their favorite of the nine screaming men.  

Next: the stickers!!! We love stickers. Especially FREE stickers. And it gets even better when they are FUN stickers. So I got two very cool Bone Sugar stickers, which if you ever catch Toad in the wild they are on my laptop so then you can know that you have caught Toad in the wild. @dysphorie also gave me a swaggy tooth sticker which I very much like because its a great conversation piece and very much so a work of art. AND TWO FREE JIM STICKERS UNBELIVABLE. JUST ABSOLUTLY TOO GOOD TO BELEIVE! But none the less, they are there. One in color, that is so pretty, a soft fluffy Jimbo. And another a black and white sticker of the print she sent me, which is the next item. 

FREE JIM PRINT AND VERY COOL COFFIN PRINT OF ORIGINAL ART: Okay so this was just the cherry on top of this birthday order, because this is art. That was given to me for free. Many of us have forgotten the value that art holds with modern society, and I am not going to yell at those who have forgotten it, but I am going to ask that they take an opportunity to consider that someone in the world had to spend time to create it. With nothing promised, they carved out of their timeline precious hours that they are not going to get back. As we all know, everyone dies, everyone has a time limit so to speak, so the fact that someone created something for others to enjoy by giving up something that not even money can buy makes it art. And that is what makes art something so profound from so many angles. So I want to say thank you personally @dysphorie for letting me have the pleasure of enjoying art that you created with minutes of your own life. Both prints are very high quality paper, and are stiff so they came to me in great condition. They are also now both hanging up on my walls next to the Slipknot stickers and album picture from the We Are Not Your Kind vinyl. Very much so completes the look. 

The final thing, but certainly not the least THE FREE FUCKING GOOGLY EYES: Oh holy fuck how this breathed life back into me. It is something small. It is something that most people would ask why? But for Toad I said, “holy fuck I want to put these on my boyfriend’s nipples.” And I did. and then we died for laughter. So much joy from such a tiny item. So 10/10. 

Overall this was way more than I expected to get, and I can not express enough how much I love it and how much joy it brought me. I would highly, highly, recommend buying from @dysphorie. This is not the first time I have purchased something from her, and just like the last times, I am so happy that I did!
