Drawing original characters in the style of the studio "Bones" is still a favorite activity!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to tell you a little about their quirks!
Ikehara Kasikomi: Flock of birds.
Her quirk allows her body to turn into a flock of black birds, consisting, like her body, of a dark substance. She needs to focus to change her body! Quirk gives her high mobility!
The size of the flock of birds she can turn into is directly proportional to her weight. She can turn into 28 birds, larger than the average raven. She is vulnerable to fire and feels worse in the dark because she loses control of her body.
A very thoughtful and freedom-loving girl.
Hyono Kanae: Evil Eye.
His quirk is similar to Aizawa's quirk, but it works a little differently: to disable someone else's quirk or technique, he needs to know how quirk or technique works.
For example: to disable Bakugo's "Explosion", he needs to know two things, that the quirk works through the palms, and sweat containing nitroglycerin. In this case, he will have two ways, softer and more cruel: turn off sweating, or turn off hands. (I mean, hands literally won't work: they'll go numb or something like that)
The difference between his quirk and quirk is the time limit for disconnection (about 7 minutes) and it is possible to subordinate up to 3 goals.
He's a damn nerd with a bitchy personality!
Segata Moina: Whiplash Hair.
It's a fairly simple quirk in terms of how it works. Her hair is capable of lengthening into whips controlled by her. For herself, she chose the most comfortable shape: wide dreadlocks, which is quite convenient to put in a ponytail.
The hair is long by itself, but the quirk has both a minus and a limit. She cannot "shorten" her hair, and accordingly, each time the regrown hair has to be cut off manually. There are two limits: the length of the grown hair at a time and the duration. She can grow her hair up to 20 meters at a time, which gives her the opportunity to simultaneously influence objects at a long distance, but at the same time she loses control. The time depends on her diet and sleep.
A very cheerful and bright girl!

Relationship Headcanons: Kacchako (SFW)
Confessions/dating
Ochako confesses first, by accident, right before graduation. Bakugo doesn't say anything until she tries to backpedal.
Before confessing, Bakugo would prepare a lot of Ochako's favorite foods "by coincidence" when it was his turn to cook for the group. She never caught on that it was intentional, much to his dismay.
Izuku knew about their mutual feelings before anyone else, because they both admitted it to him during different vent sessions.
Their first kiss happens just after patrol together. Bakugo had been acting strange during patrol, so Uraraka approaches him as he's removing his gauntlets to check in with him. Once she's close enough, he pulls her close and kisses her, explaining after the fact that he wanted to do that earlier in the day, but knew his gauntlets would get in the way.
Bakugo rarely (if ever) initiates any kind of physical affection in public, but secretly loves when Ochako holds his hand or hugs him where paparazzi can see.
Once he warms up to physical affection in general, Bakugo loves casual touches. Specifically, he loves rustling Ochako's hair as he passes, or resting his hand at the small of her back when they stand together.
Both Bakugo's and Ochako's hero agencies try to keep their relationship secret, at first. Bakugo blows up (literally) on a sidekick for flirting with "his girl," so they're forced to publicize the relationship for the sake of public safety.
Their relationship is actually extremely well-received by the public and "Dynaravity" merch sales padded their hero salaries quite nicely.
Mitsuki Bakugo absolutely adores Ochako and constantly tells her that she's too good for her son. At one point, she suggested that Ochako would be better off with Izuku...which went about as well as expected.
Ochako's parents were a little slow to come around to them being romantically involved, but Ochako's mother melted when she walked in to the family room to find Ochako asleep in Bakugo's arms on the sofa. Ochako's mother tells everyone she can about the pure adoration in Katsuki's eyes, much to his horror.
Marriage
Bakugo proposes to Uraraka two years into their relationship, at the Sports Festival at UA after jokingly asking her if she wanted a rematch. Unfortunately for the students, the celebratory uproar this caused postponed the competition for three hours. (Aizawa lectured them about wasting his time, but embraced them immediately afterward)
Bakugo and Ochako both wanted Izuku to be their best man/man of honor. Izuku became an officiate so he could stand in the middle. Ochako's maid of honor ends up being Tsuyu, with Bakugo's best man being Kirishima.
Children
They end up having two children, two years apart.
Daisuke (大輔) Bakugo- Male. Sandy blonde hair (like Ochako's dad) that grows in all directions with round, mahogany colored eyes . Insanely bright, and very helpful. A bit of a people pleaser. Quirk: Trigger-Switch: Producing nitroglycerin sweat from his hands, Daisuke leaves explosive handprints on anything he touches. When he claps his hands together, the resulting spark ignites the marks at once within a 30 ft radius (this extends to a greater radius as he matures). The more he touches an object, the greater the explosion. Prolonged use results in blisters/burns on his hands, causing him pain.
Hanabi (華火) Bakugo- Female. Chocolate brown hair, worn in twintails as a child, which evolves into tight French braids as a teen. Angular burgundy eyes. Ambitious, a little rambunctious. Has her dad's temper but is better at controlling it. Quirk: Sparks Fly: Hanabi can create floating balls of nitroglycerin sweat which she can propel toward enemies. Her preferred method of attack is combining the sweat into a large glowing orb, bright enough to stun enemies (similar to Bakugo's Stun Grenade), before peppering her enemies in tiny explosions. As her Quirk requires a lot of sweat production, Hanabi is at high risk of dehydration on the field. Overuse of her Quirk leads to dizziness, and in extremes, may cause her to lose consciousness.

Having watched some of bnha fights how over powered they made literally nitroglycerin and how underpowered they made someone who has a sizable chunk of the strength to incidentally change the weather is sad.
Like mathematically izuku should already be stronger then the all might we see in the series
And bakugou is letting off giant, building sized explosions from the amount of nitroglycerin and sweat that clings to his palms
Midoriya should have like half the power of peak all might by the end of the series and he doesn't even have the strength of running on fumes, missing several internal organs All Might

I am putting my whole brain through chemistry hell with what little I remember from high school chemistry to understand how nitroglycerin works (thanks to one whole thread that's just meant to be silly and goofy, and also ignoring that the substance he makes is described as "nitroglycerin-like"). And man, when I tell you... Katsuki simply has to be built different to deal with his Quirk.
For one, it's a good thing that the nitroglycerin only produces from his hands. For two, remember that nitroglycerin is only slightly soluble with water - which also checks out with how Horikoshi draws the sweat beads sometimes, because they're not exactly combining with the nitroglycerin he makes.
But that likely means the nitroglycerin Katsuki makes is... Quite literally pure.
(This got long, so the rest is under the read more!)
Basic fundamentals to understand about nitroglycerin: it is both flammable and combustible. Wikipedia (bc this shit is the only thing making it make sense) says that "flammable applies to combustible materials that ignite easily and thus are more dangerous and more highly regulated". This is because of nitroglycerin's extremely reactive nature, prone to explosion via shock, friction, heat, and flame.
It is a class A explosive under OSHA, which is defined as: "possessing, detonating, or otherwise maximum hazard; such as dynamite, nitroglycerin, picric acid, lead azide, fulminate of mercury, black powder, blasting caps, and detonating primers".
Its HMIS diamond scaffold is as follows (based on this):
Health: 2 (can cause temporary incapacitation or residual injury)
Flammability: 3 (can be ignited under almost all ambient temperature conditions)
Instability: 4 (readily capable of detonation or explosive decomposition or explosive reaction at normal temperatures and pressures)
Special: N/A
Solid nitroglycerin (at 13°C or lower) will destabilise and explode if melted too quickly. A bottle of pure liquid nitroglycerin (14°C-50°C) will explode if it's dropped on the ground. It will begin to decompose at 50-60°C and explode at a temperature of 218°C. Its decomposition has an exothermic reaction, thus it can literally ignite itself. Nitroglycerin does not need oxygen to explode, because it has enough oxygen molecules in its chemical formula.
Its chemical formula in question is C3H5N3O9. The products after exploding are 3 CO2 + 2.5 H2O + 1.5 N2 + 0.5O...
A clean equation looks something like:
4 C3H5N3O9 -> 12 CO2 + 10 H20 + 6 N2 + O2.
Heat liberated from a nitroglycerin explosion exceeds temperatures of 5,000°C. the detonation wave from this reaction reaches a velocity of 7,280-7,700 metres per second, and creates the development of 20,000 atmospheres of pressure. Its explosive energy density sits at about 6.23 kJ/g, which is one of the higher power outputs in terms of explosive molecules.
So what does this mean for Bakugou Katsuki?
Well, simply put, he does not need a substantial amount of nitroglycerin on his palms to create detonations. The tiny sparks he creates are arguably miniscule doses of nitroglycerin that he's spontaneously igniting.
The method of ignition is thankfully obvious: he can heat his palms. He can shock the nitroglycerin on his palms with this rapid heat, thus spurring the molecules into the desired reaction.
It also explains how Katsuki needs to store sweat so he may create larger explosions later on - it's likely that he doesn't typically produce enough nitroglycerin from his palms to immediately justify any large-scale detonations that he desires. So, to achieve this, he has to work harder and sweat more to garner enough of the substance for the result he's after.
In the realm of BNHA, it's pretty clear that Katsuki's explosions don't exhibit the exothermal properties of nitroglycerin, or we would be seeing some very devastating burns left behind. While I think that he is ultimately capable of heat-related damage, his explosions overall are more force-based. I think his ultimate moves (Howitzer in particular) utilise the full force of nitroglycerin's reaction... Maybe, sometimes, reduced to varying degrees depending on the person he's fighting (plus the use of support items, skill, etc.).
For instance, compare his standard Howitzer Impact used against Todoroki in the sports festival to the Cluster-boosted Howitzer against Shigaraki in the final war:
While it was an ultimate move used on Todoroki, he was less experienced at the time, likely hindering its effectiveness. (I want to say he dialled it back so it wouldn't, you know, cause irreparable damage... But it's possible that inexperience trumped its overall power, because he wanted to win with everything he had.)
Then, against Shigaraki, it was so much force that it quite literally moved floating U.A. across the sky. He combined his support gear, his experience, and the amount of nitroglycerin stored to achieve this level of force.
As a further note, because of nitroglycerin's extreme reactivity and explosive properties, it cannot really produce a flame of its own. Because Katsuki's explosions seem to be more force-based on top of that, he is not necessarily capable of setting things alight... (Seen in the training camp arc, where he tried and failed to start a fire, instead just exploding the wood.)
As for Katsuki's natural resistances to his own Quirk (of which I have described before, but I want to reiterate):
Larger explosion sound levels can be anywhere between 120 decibels and 210 decibels... And a human's "safe hearing" level is about 85 decibels. In my headcanon, Katsuki has a natural adaptation which means he can withstand higher decibels than others, but that does not make him immune - so while he can tolerate large-scale explosion sounds in an open area, especially with him at the centre point, he would suffer if it were the same explosion in an enclosed area.
The aforementioned heating on his palms are only a part of Katsuki's adaptation to his Quirk; the skin is also significantly thicker on his palms and fingers, making his tolerance for touching hot things at a higher level. Like... Much, much higher. It accommodates for when nitroglycerin requires 218°C to explode in a controlled environment. It's why he can handle hot things out of the oven, and why he doesn't know what burns on his hands feel like.
The musculature on his arms and shoulders also have a natural level of strength to withstand the force of his quirk, but this isn't impervious either. He's had to train hard and build on that natural strength to best withstand the higher outputs of force.
Exposure to pure nitroglycerin for any individual is ill-advised, but with manga logic and creative liberties, I don't think anyone who wants to hold Katsuki's hand should have to worry. (I'm 99% sure that he washes his hands thoroughly after working out, anyway.) As for Katsuki himself, I think he does exhibit some symptoms of a nitroglycerin overdose when he's pushed himself way past his limit... But these episodes are incredibly rare, and often very short-lived.
The final notes:
Constant detonation of nitroglycerin means Katsuki has a bit of a smoky smell. Past that, there is also a faint caramel smell.
Also do not taste the nitroglycerin (for whatever reason there is to lick his hand or something? Which Katsuki will literally kill you for doing that, because what the fuck). It does not taste as nice as it smells.

You know what I love the idea of?
Bakugou and Mina being hand-holding buddies.
You can’t tell me that as Mina latches herself on to bkg and they grows as friends and grow trust that these two people who, most likely, have a fear of hurting someone by touching them with their quirks, don’t bond.
Like, bkg produces nitroglycerin as sweat, we know this. He, especially as he gains friends and changes, is probably afraid of hurting someone with his sweat. Whether it be by making someone prone to explosions or just idk poisoning them?
Then there’s Mina. From what I know we haven’t really seen anything saying that she ever felt negatively towards her quirk but you can’t tell me that someone who produces literal acid, especially as a kid when she couldn’t control it that well, she wasn’t afraid of hurting someone. She wants to be a hero, why wouldn’t she be afraid of hurting someone? Accidents happen too, and when she first got her quirk it must’ve been hard, and she never would want to hurt someone like that.
So I introduce:
Mina and Bakugou build enough trust in each other that when their anxious or feeling shitty they hold each others hand. It’s such a small action to anybody else, but to these two who are incredibly scared to hold people’s hands invade they hurt them, it means so much that they can relate and trust each other enough to do this
Idk it makes sense to me tell me whatcha think

I'm rereading Sticks & Stones and omg I forgot the sheer amount of pure negligence that allowed that situation to happen in the first place.
Because even ignoring Aizawa's failures as a teacher, or that a teacher as inexperienced as All Might shouldn't have been supervising a live combat exercise, jesus christ how the fuck did anyone think the gauntlets were safe for Bakugou let alone for use on other students in a live combat exercise?! Who signed off on that support gear?! Sure, the designers probably know the basics of Bakugou's quirk--he sweats nitroglycerine and can ignite it to create explosions--except we know the stuff put down on the Quirk registry or how people describe their quirks to others is rarely fully accurate and usually highly simplified. There is no reason for any sane engineer to assume they had enough accurate information to create any sort of support gear that is meant to interact with a quirk as potentially volatile as Bakugou's without it being liable to blow up and potentially take off Bakugou's arm. Did they even have a sample of Bakugou's sweat to work with or did they just assume it was exactly the same as regular nitroglycerine? How did they live-test it to make sure it would redirect the blast safely? Not to mention quirks casually defy the laws of physics so you'd need to do a lot of testing just to figure out how the quirk would actually interact with the support gear in reality.
Support gear is likely highly personalized to each individual's quirk and needs, and its development would probably involve the hero and inventor working closely together, especially for more complex or dangerous quirks. It'd be a lot of trial and error, figuring out the finer points of how the quirk works, testing how interacts with the gear and refining it. Considering the amount of intimate knowledge of the hero's quirk and access to their literal life-saving equipment they have, the folks who create and maintain support gear must hold highly trusted and respected positions in the hero industry. Something as advanced as Bakugou's gauntlets couldn't just be casually commissioned the same way you could sturdier boots or a grappling hook. It'd take time and cooperation to design which, considering how UA has a Support track likely is what second and third years do--pair up with people in the support course to create their more advanced equipment together as an act of both cooperation and networking, likely with someone from the Management course to make sure the designs are marketable. But that makes it even crazier that the first version of Bakugou's costume, which is essentially a prototype based off of the concept design submitted by the hero student, should have powerful specialized support equipment that would have taken a lot of time and a conscious decision to include for a hero student the designer hadn't even met--I'm just saying it feels like a mix-up that should've happened later in the year when stuff is being added and upgraded to the hero costumes and something that dangerous that could've more easily slipped by.
And expecting Bakugou, a teenager, to just... know how to use such dangerous support equipment safely without practice, let alone responsibly, is fucking insane. For sure Bakugou was in the wrong for multiple reasons; he showed no restraint and acted against his teacher's orders during a live combat exercise, he was aiming to hurt, maybe even kill Izuku rather than stay within the parameters of the exercise, and we know that Bakugou knew how dangerous his gauntlets were--but just as easily a different student given that sort of equipment without training could have killed someone on accident because they didn't realize how outright lethal their cool costume idea was. Even if Bakugou can use his quirk safely and with restraint, that took practice, practice he hadn't had with his gauntlets and should've had before using them outside a controlled environment. If there's a lawsuit happening from the Iidas about Tenya's injuries, the first on the chopping block should be whoever the fuck gave that sort of untested, destructive support gear to a goddamn first year.
Also did you know in canon that support gear is often inaccessible to the average civilian because it's so tightly regulated and tied to the hero industry even when it could help with disabilities both mundane and quirk-based? That's how absurd Bakugou having those gauntlets is.
I also wanted to say your take on Aizawa and his bad teaching is very refreshing. I like him in canon well-enough--I like good teacher!Aizawa fanfic even better--but he's such a horrid teacher who seems to resent the fact that the teenagers in school to become heroes need like... to be taught how to be heroes and then keeps projecting his trauma onto them. Which might be interesting if the canon narrative didn't like to pretend his shitty teaching was brilliant somehow and that it's Izuku's fault for not trusting adults for help or struggling with his Quirk.
Firstly, thank you for enjoying the universe! I'm enjoying writing it!
Secondly! Flat out the approval of Bakugou's gauntlets (and honestly of some of the other 1-A costumes) raises a lot of questions about how much effort UA actually put into checking over the kids' stuff in general. Momo's costume is the only one we know of for sure had discussion around it, and that's because the earlier (skimpier) designs she wanted literally were violating a law. The gauntlets being approved was insane. If nothing else, you shouldn't be including something like that in a prototype costume because these kids are literally just starting out in their training. You shouldn't be assuming these kids know how to use anything equipment-wise, let alone something as specialized (and likely expensive to have made) as the gauntlets. But yeah whoever approves the costumes deserves a sharp smack upside the head, especially when you realize it's likely the same person who approved Hagakure's costume basically being just gloves and shoes since I don't think we're told until *Mirio* pops up more than halfway through the school year that the DNA costume thing is a thing, and that's the only real way they'd be able to do something for her.
Also, why doesn't UA shell out that the students who's Quirk don't 'go' with regular clothes [size changers, intangibility, invisibility, etc] can still at least have gym clothes that do the DNA cloth thing? Literally the very first interaction between Mirio and 1-A involves him *flashing* everyone. Are you really telling me they can't put the resources towards giving him a few pieces of gym clothes so that's not an issue!? He's most likely ended up naked on national TV on at least three occasions (the Sports Festivals). Why is this not deemed a problem!?
There's a reason after all I had the jab in FtE over Mirio finally being able to keep his pants on.
Aizawa is interesting to write in the Sticks and Stones universe, since also how other people are now viewing him is getting fun. For one thing, as will get revealed in an upcoming chapter, some people are starting to speculate that he had a different, unsaid reasoning for his stunt; namely that he was *trying* to get himself fired from UA with the expulsion stuff, but widely misguessed just how things would go.

I have too many MHA AU ideas so here
Dadzawa AU: literally just a series of Aizawa parenting his class, probably with guest appearances from the Big 3, Shinsou, and Eri. Background Erasermic with trans!Aizawa. Shinsou was a teenage accident of Aizawa and Oboro's, who Aizawa was forced to give up. Yamada and Aizawa have tried off and on for a second kid for eight years and then suddenly in a matter of two years they get 25 of them (including a newborn that forces Aizawa to take a leave of absence as Eraserhead and teach full time for a while)
Fluff(ier than canon) AU: Erasercloudmic gets together in high school, they still have Shinsou. Oboro doesn't die or go missing but Aizawa and Yamada can't pay for his medical bills *and* support their kid in high school even if they COULD keep it, so they give him up to save Oboro, who as a result never becomes Kurogiri. The three of them stay together, though not without a rough patch, and eventually get married; Oboro is permanently disabled, probably with mobility and vision issues, and Loud Cloud retires. He works as a producer at Mic's radio station. Nothing bad happens to Shimura Tenko; Dadmight Toshinori to the rescue there. He still passes OfA to Midoriya. No Kurogiri and no Shigaraki means no League of Villains; Dabi is a known vigilante rather than a straight up villain. Todoroki Natsuo becomes a detective and tracks Touya down to tell him what's happened since he left. Dabi knocks on Eraserhead and Present Mic's door to ask them for help rescuing his baby brother - "Because you'll stand up to Endeavor. No one else will." Erasercloudmic end up with custody of Shoto, Hitoshi, and Eri.
ABO AU: Same basis as the Fluff AU with Erasercloudmic and Shinsou, and no League of Villains, but omega Aizawa with his two alphas, and their pack including such gems as beta Toshinori, alpha Nemuri, and beta Tensei. Tenya and Aizawa are still pretending they don't know each other well into second year despite the fact that the young alpha has literally napped in Aizawa's nest.
Mutant AU: Everyone's quirk is actually a mutation caused by the x-gene, Marvel canon style. UA has connections with Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and Avengers Academy. Aizawa and Logan get along famously despite that time they met back when Logan was a Villain:tm: and Aizawa was in high school and almost killed him by using Erasure on his extremely poisoned (by metal bones) ass. Hawkeye and Izuku hit it off immediately. Bakugou fucking hates Hawkeye's guts, even more so after Hawkeye just douses him with something that neutralizes his nitroglycerin sweat and ties him up before Bakugou can touch him. Kirishima and Tetsutetsu have new heroes to fanboy over after meeting Hulk, Warpath, and Colossus.

So when Bakugo doesn’t have a giant hole in his chest do you think he gets headaches a lot due to his nitroglycerin sweat?
What do you think of the theories surrounding Bakugou's Quirk and how it affects him? IE, being angry due to nitroglycerin affecting his heart?
Took me a second to realize the first half was a joke. For the briefest of moments, I thought you were proposing whether him getting headaches was dependent on whether or not he had a hole in his chest.
I really doubt Bakugou suffers any side affects from his Quirk other than the ones stated. Beside the fact that sweat is described as "nitroglycerin-like", meaning that it may not have all the same properties and side effects as regular nitroglycerin, I always believed that Quirks offered some inherent protection to the user. If Bakugou can make explosions from his hands without blowing his arms off or destroying his hearing, I think we can accept that he doesn't get headaches or heart issues from it. What's more, I think that trying to attribute any part of Bakugou's character to a byproduct of his Quirk in a literal sense, while an interesting thought to have, just makes him less interesting. It simplifies him in that everything he does is the result of his Quirk more the anything else. What do you think is more compelling? That Bakugou's personality is the result of various internal and external factors that make him a layered character, or that Bakugou's Quirk makes him an angry boy?

About
Honestly, if you don’t know who this dumbass is…. I feel bad for you. Lucky for you, I have a Google Doc describing this moron, for the most part.
Tumblr media
Headcanons
Unlike in canon, my Baku swears. HEAVILY. He is also very vulgar – but then again, it wouldn’t be the Bakugou we all know and love if he didn’t, now would he?
Mitsuki abused him growing up – however, this is not common knowledge, as she was also very secretive about it, including the fact it isn’t in any records. If anyone ended up finding out about this, they’d have to watch Katsuki himself for telltale signs.
He also really loves horror. Don’t interrupt him in the middle of a horror game especially because he can and will bitch at you for it.
There are a few arcades he frequents and all of the games he has top scores on. He’s also exceptionally good at fighting games along with horror games, but he does have to work at keeping the top scores on dancing games.
As much as he is vulgar, blunt, and crude, he actually tries not to curse or use that vulgarity around kids and the younger generation. Ever since the remedial course, he’s actually gotten a lot better with kids, too.
Katsuki actually knows sign language and how to lipread – he taught himself how to in case his quirk ever blew his eardrums out and he was unable to hear.
Katsuki is very insecure about his hands. Someone once pointed out how sweaty his hands were while holding his hand and it left him nervous about it ever since. That’s why he always has his hands stuffed in his pockets.
Katsuki has a snake named King Murder and a tarantula named Deku.
–Will add more as I think of them–
There are also several headcanons I have regarding his quirk – due to the fact it is very similar to nitroglycerin, it has a lot of the same properties and thus has effects on his body not many would actually know about.
His body temperature is higher than most, though only by a few degrees, so as to make it easier for him to be able to sweat. As a result, the cold doesn’t bother him quite as much as he complains about it, he just doesn’t like the cold due to the fact it’s more difficult to get his quirk to activate.
Believe it or not, this boy smells not like nasty gross things (primarily because he showers or bathes quite a lot) but actually has a sweet scent due to his quirk, something between toasted caramel and burnt sugar depending on how much he used his quirk.
Due to the fact that the nitroglycerin running through him actually widens the walls of the blood vessels, his body has learned to counteract it by constantly running some degree of adrenaline through his body. This gives him more energy that he has to burn off, which is why he stays so active and so high-strung.
This also means that Katsuki literally cannot drink alcohol because it will kill him – the only way he would be able to is if he counterbalanced it with energy drinks, due to the widened blood vessel walls, and even then he still can’t drink much. He often ends up the designated driver because of this.
Katsuki also has constant migranes, to the point that sometimes, the combination of the excess energy and the severe headaches leave him unable to sleep at night. This is the real reason why he goes to bed so early.
Katsuki goes mountain climbing not just because he likes it but because the nitroglycerin nature of the sweat on his palms is really oily and it helps him learn to counteract it by adjusting his grip accordingly. It’s how he can grab things without them slipping out everywhere.

I feel like being revived will evolve Bakugou.
I tend to overheat and sweat a lot which makes me irritable and we know Bakugou produces an unholy amount of sweat. I’m also pretty sure the nitroglycerin in his blood speeds his heart rate.
I think his body will evolve to stop feeling the heart beat excellerating, excessive sweating, and other internal symptoms that could have been making him such an asshole.
Adapting to his quirk beyond the external physical durability and not literal dying from chemical poisoning could make room for a more open and calmer Bakugou.
I don’t think it should be an immediate change, I think he should be more like his prototype personality. The current/past Bakugou is basically that but turned up to eleven with more intentional rage.
I’ve written character analyses on Bakugou on my blog but I think you get my point
I don’t have anything I can add because I think you’re pretty spot on here, I don’t think he’ll ever be completely sweet but I do think he’ll probably mellow out a little more and that’s probably a good thing for his character

Well, maybe. Strong bases like sodium hydroxide causes those chemical burns thorugh amide hydrolysis and ester hydrolyis (the exact process it uses to neutraloze nitroglycerin) of the proteins and lipids in living tissues.
If the solution momo was using to "dunk him in the sauce" as op says, was highly concentrated, that'd be dangerous, yes. However she could dilute it until it was safe enough for him to touch but the volume of it (enough to physically throw him in) would still provide enough sodium hydroxide to hydrolise any nitroglycerin he might produce.
For example, in doing my very sparse research for this post (it's like 9 am here cut me some slack) i came across this hilariously titled scientific article "Microwave-assisted hydrolysis of nitroglycerin (NG) under mild alkaline conditions" which they did at a pH of 9, which is mild enough to not be harmful to humans, and 50 degrees celcius. (Which, would you look at that, the exact temperature bakugou makes his skin to ignitr his nitroglycerin!) The article does state microwave heating helped with hydrolic degradation more than conventional heating to the same temperature did, though. So I guess the conclusion is you CAN use dilited sodium hydroxide to dunk bakugou in the sauce, you just gotta microwave him a little first.
However, that only applies to momo. Not to neutralizing bakugou with powdered sodium hydroxide. In powder form, NaOH is not corrosive, however it becomes so when it comes in contact with water. Like, say... a large amount of sweat. It'd automatically be highly concentrated considering the excess of powder.
However the real question here is if this is even relevant. Masaru's quirk was acid sweat. Op inferred that it was him oxidizing elements like sodium, barium or potassium with hydrogen peroxide. But the character spotlight on the bakugou family specifically calls it acid. And directly compares him to Mina Ashido.
Tumblr media
This probably means that the oxidizing agent in masaru's sweat isn't a peroxide like op suggested, but something like nitric acid which is both a strong acid and powerful oxidizing agent. (It'd be very funny if it was nitric acid specifically, though it could be any oxidizing acid, because nitric acid is a compound commonly used in the industrial production of nitroglycerin)
Considering that his acidic sweat is powerful enough that it becomes explosive just by rubbing his hands together, the substance is probably quite concentrated. Mina, for her part, has skin that is resistent to the corrosive aspects of her own acid.
Acid causes chemical burns for the same reason highly concentreted bases do. Amide and ester hydrolysis are both base and acid catalyzed.
So there's avarious ways that mina's skin might be resistent to corrosive acid, but just for convenience i'm gonna ssume that whatever it is, would also make someone resistent to base catalyzed ester and amide hydrolysis, and therefore protect from chemical burns caused by alkaline substances as well.
So if she can do that. And Masaru can produce acidic sweat without getting chemical burns, he might also have a similar resistance. (at least to some extend. His acidic sweat, while concentrated, is not nearly as corrosive as mina's acid at its strongest or he'd be able to melt metal just by holding it. He is also, you know, not purple. So it's likely a different but slightly similar type of resistence to acid chemical burns) then by inheriting his quirk, Katsuki has it too.
Katsuki can also make explosions on the literal surface of his skin without it burning to a crisp. If he uses it too much his arms start to hurt, yes, but his skin isn't LITERALLY ON FIRE so clearly there's something going on there with his skin and resistence to theceffects of his quirk. Acid/base resistence on top of that isn't too far-fetched.
In conclusion: bakugou wouldn't get chemical burns from highly concentrated sodium hydroxide because he can't get chemical burns, actually.
So anyway, new headcanon: Bakugou is somewhat resistent to mina's quirk. This makes him the de-facto training dummy for mina practicing on living opponents as she improves her control, since if she makes a mistake and makes her acid a bit too corrosive, he won't feel it.
parents: if we take you drinking do you promise not to talk about anime science for one fucking night?
me: yeah ofc
me three strawberry daiquiris in: but it’s actually NOT impossible for shouto todoroki’s father to have O type blood while his father has AB as he’s a natural occurring chimera. there is one very famous case of a living chimera human with 61% type O blood and 39% type A blood. this is because chimeras can break genetic inheritance rules resulting in impossible heritable traits- which is probably why Shouto is perfectly split down the middle in regards to his generics in both quirk, hair, and possible other features unseen in the manga or anime like melanin production. it’s not unres-

Todoroki
I headcanon Todoroki to smell like clean laundry and linen, there’s no definitive perfume cuz he doesn’t wear cologne, he just uses deodorant and calls it a day. So when you’re standing beside him and get a whiff you can tell this guy uses those sprays for ironing clothes, he just smells like clean clothes from a laundromat.
Deku
I headcanon Deku to actually kinda stink 💀 he sweats a lot and nobody has really told him the need and use of deodorant and perfume so he’s just winging it. Like bro kinda messy just look at the way he knots his tie, not that he doesn’t have clean clothes it’s just that he sweats and it makes him funk just a little. However, one day Kacchan called him out in front of everyone like the bitch he is and nobody really said anything to counter it and thus began the life of Midoriya excessively using deodorant and buying perfume to mask his scent because damn that was really embarrassing 💀💀
Bakugou
I headcanon Bakugou to smell the best, one from what I heard, nitroglycerin smells like banana and some say burnt caramel, but even with a natural scent that smells nice, Bakugou is very keen on personal hygiene and comes from a background of cosmetology, you know about his mother and dad being in the fashion industry and all that jazz. This guy uses baby wipes on his skin and would literally lose his mind over a pimple because he has a rigorous skin care routine, multiple brands of scrubs, moisturizer, oils and expensive perfumes. Definitely smells the best and hates stinky people with poor hygiene 💀💀

If Todoroki hit Bakugo with his fire would there be a massive explosion.
Bakugo sweats literal Nitroglycerin. Nitroglycerin can be used for more than just explosions, however, its an important ingredient in literal DYNAMITE. Its used in many rockets as well, which is how Bakugo can Fly.
Nitroglycerin is extremely unstable and the fact that Bakugo can control his quirk at all is actually incredibly impressive. Many people don’t recognize just how good he is with it. Considering how volatile Nitroglycerin is, Bakugo must have trained extremely hard to get to the point of control he has today.
Nitroglycerin is SO unstable that the slightest jolt or impact can cause it to detonate. The speed of detonation when working with this chemical is what causes such a massive explosion and is the reason Bakugo is so powerful.
At around 424 degrees Fahrenheit is the explosion point of nitroglycerin. Todoroki’s fire, considering the color, is around 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That being said.
If Todoroki had used his fire in the sports festival and hit Bakugos hands at peak sweat, Todoroki could have easily blown his arms clean off, if not kill him and blow him up entirely.
Baku, my dude, my main man, you are one lucky motherfucker. You coulda been dead as hell. Thank you Todoroki, for not murdering the Pomeranian.
i know this is months late but i do really appreciate the scientific breakdown here. of course bnha is only very loosely grounded in any kind of real life scientific truths so i don’t actually think fire would have any particular impact on bakugou in canon regardless of accuracy, but i do like the implications of it all.

so we're told that Erasure only works on Emitter or Transformation Quirks and not Mutations, which is true inasmuch as it clearly doesn't work on people like Hagakure whose Quirk is that their whole body is just Made Different
but given what we know about Present Mic we can deduce two things:
that Mic's Quirk is technically a Mutation-type. the only time he doesn't demonstrate significant strain in speaking is during the Exam arc, which seems to indicate that his natural speaking voice is loud enough to create physical shockwaves! that's at least 194 dB, which is over 60 dB louder than the loudest recorded human voice in real life--and decibels are logarithmic, meaning that a difference of 60 db indicates a literal million-fold increase in power. there is simply no physical way that his vocal apparatus is not significantly different in substance and/or structure from a regular human one, and it's probably different in both
that Erasure can stop it anyway. Mic consistently demonstrates extreme caution and passivity, only allowing his true emotions to slip through when he's around Eraser and/or Midnight (and, in the past, Oboro). Since Midnight can generate a sedative gas and Oboro could control air--both of which can stop Mic from causing inadvertent damage with his Quirk if he lets his emotions get the better of him--it stands to reason that if Mic can feel secure around Eraser it's because Erasure works on Mic too.
if Mic is a Mutation-type, and if Erasure works on him, that means that Erasure works on (some) Mutations, which in turn means that we can make some educated guesses about the precise mechanics behind Erasure--
specifically, that the Quirk type doesn't matter--it's the Quirk activation mechanism. Erasure is a mind-control quirk that prevents any target from taking the specific voluntary action that causes their quirk to activate. (for most people, that has no analogous "normal" action, but for people like Mic--one might call them "type-hybrids"-- it's an otherwise "normal" action like vocalizing.)
this is where things start to get a bit weird.
firstly, and on a minor note, Erasure probably shouldn't work on Bakugou because his Quirk is the chemical composition of his palm sweat and sweating isn't a voluntary action. (of course, if Bakugou's palm sweat is normally just salt water and he has to manually change over to sweating nitroglycerin, that wouldn't be the case. the source material isn't conclusive one way or the other).
secondly, what would happen if Aizawa were to experience a Quirk Awakening? would he become able to block a given target from taking any action? even involuntary ones? would he be able to shut down someone's heart?
thirdly--and most strangely--one of the foundational conceits of the series is that most people can have only one Quirk--the strain on the body is simply too great otherwise, even if both Quirks would be relatively minor. however, certain relatively minor alterations in anatomical structure can coexist with the "main" Quirk, such as Koji's oddly-shaped head coexisting with his Anivoice.
but we see Erasure having two seemingly separate effects-- its primary effect and the levitation of Aizawa's hair and capture scarf. this is, on the surface of it, impossible, since that would require him to have two unrelated non-anatomical Quirks. but let's look closer.
the human brain is a biological organism, made up of tissues and chemicals. when it comes down to it, a mind-control Quirk, especially a relatively crude one like Erasure--one that just makes a singular process happen or not happen, rather than performing more complex manipulations of emotion or behavior or memory--can therefore be characterized as the ability to manipulate human brain tissue in a specific way. therefore one could say that Erasure is the ability to control an extremely specific chemical process occurring in a specific type of substance.
we never see Erasure levitate any other substances--not clothes, not paper, not jelly pouches, just Aizawa's hair and his scarf. given that, we can extrapolate that the scarf is made of a synthetic substance similar to human neural tissue. we can also extrapolate something a bit more unsettling.
why would someone who is known for being ruthlessly practical in his deportment leave his hair long when it could get tangled or snared or grabbed by an opponent? why would someone who doesn't care about his appearance take the time to brush his hair daily (and he has to or it'd be one huge mat by now) instead of clipping it weekly? why would someone who takes especial care to obscure the activation of his Quirk by wearing slitted goggles leave a much more obvious sign of its activation--unless he had to? unless cutting it, or binding it any tighter than a loose ponytail, was agonizingly painful?
Aizawa's hair levitation isn't a secondary Quirk. Aizawa's hair is an incidental mutation.
It's made out of neural tissue.
y’all mind if I put on my deku hat for a moment? because I have some Thoughts about Erasure and about Aizawa’s biological makeup

Let’s talk about my grievance with Bakugou’s quirk
His quirk allows him to sweat a nitroglycerin like substance all over his body and ignite it from the palms of his hands. The more he sweats the more powerful his explosions become
Pretty straight forward right?
Supposedly the explosions cause pain in his arms if he creates too many of them but that is never showcased
Then there’s the fact that the nitroglycerin like sweat should have a freezing temperature with either the substance freezing or him being unable to sweat properly even with warm clothing
And the fact that fire and fire based quirks would be his absolute worst enemy because the moment a single spark hits his sweat it ignites and will cause him serious damage
For an example let’s talk about how his fight against Todoroki should’ve gone
He was encased in ice which should’ve affected how the sweat worked from igniting to just working with any of the water he creates diluting the substance
Then there is the fact that if Todoroki was feeling confident in using his fire in any way at the time that would’ve ignited the sweat
Bakugou shouldn’t have won the fight against Todoroki in the Sports Festival
But let’s go to a fight even earlier than that with his first fight during the third round of the Sports Festival against Uraraka
He didn’t take that fight seriously at all until Uraraka almost beat him with a meteor shower of debris
But he beat that move with an explosion, an explosion far larger than any we have seen that wasn’t outside of him using support gear
Literally the only way that could’ve happened is if he experienced a quirk awakening but it wasn’t brought upon by any sort of desperation. So him being able to create that explosion should’ve crippled his arm or he should’ve lost the fight against Uraraka
But he would go on to win the Sports Festival not due to any sort of strategy but by his quirk not operating by the rules it should have
