🌆For whoever you think would wanna take Tidus out for a date OwO
Let's see ... I think bubbly, curious Tidus would go nicely with my very own bubbly and curious Juniper! If he doesn't mind dating a coyote who can get really excited about her special interests and babble a mile a minute. She'll listen to whatever he wants to talk about, too. Juniper likes finding out new things and meeting new people! Tidus is a sweetheart, so I think they'll get along swimmingly (ehehe).
They could go on a museum date. A science museum with fun interactive exhibits would be great. Especially if they had a planetarium show! I have faith that Tidus can keep up with Juniper's pace, since he's a big guy he probably has a long stride. I think they'd just be happy to see each other get excited about things.
They'd definitely buy each other little trinkets in the gift shop. Juniper gets Tidus something cute and nerdy, like ... a plush trilobite.
After that, they can go strolling in the area, checking out other shops and maybe stopping somewhere to eat. They'll have a lot to talk about after what they saw in the museum. I just hope Tidus doesn't get worn out by Juniper's nearly-unending enthusiasm and energy!

Yuna is the antagonist of a potential Final Fantasy X-3, thank you for coming to my TED Talk
edit: okay I'll put it under a read more since it'll be a long post (but not as long as my entire conversation was), but what's promised is due.
Now that I have to make the post for real I had to do some wiki reading on what the actual Things going on in the novella were, and… well, a lot of my theorycrafting was based on incomplete and kinda inaccurate information. BUT I can’t read Japanese, the book was never released here, and I am going to go with rule of cool for a little bit of this even as I keep the stuff that sounds kinda dumb on the surface. I’ll be the first to say that Tidus exploding from a bomb he thinks is a blitzball is dumb (true), and Chuami thinking she’s Auron’s daughter is a dumb plot beat (petty), but I’m weaving this bridge and I’m not going to rewrite those. I am going to change some contexts and make them exist in a narrative that I hope is compelling. That’s my disclaimer, now I’m gonna get into it.
SO.
The scenario from the novella and audio drama is thus: Tidus died again in an accident, and Yuna brings him back. But he’s not back in the same way that the Fayth gave this dream a real living body at the end of X-2. The official term for it is “beckoned”, but I probably won’t use that to describe him based on my previous understanding. No matter if he’s beckoned or not, or whatever terminology you want to use, the thing is that Yuna summoned him back. She’s holding him to life, and he can never know. It’s been a year since the moment Tidus died, and Yuna has seemingly regressed into patterns that put her into what was once Yevon’s circle. Tidus is looking injured/weakened (“Chuami: It wasn’t just [Tidus’s] words that felt hollow. When I shook his hand, his grip felt weak and lifeless... I think he’s injured. Or maybe he’s sick or something.”), and people are looking to Yuna for help or information regarding the strange not-quite Unsent (the beckoned) that are appearing in places in Spira. Help she is not capable of giving. Wakka and Lulu are protecting her as she prays in Besaid Temple. The world is seemingly acting out, with a second shoopuf appearing in the Moonflow and its energies overflowing and drawing more illusions into reality. (“Yuna: The Moonflow energy is responding to the will of the living. It’s as if… we’re in the Farplane.”) And it’s more vivid than what the Farplane is capable of, even breaking the rules of “beckoning”. This is something new, something worse. Something worse enough to bring back Sin (which I thought was just me extrapolating a potential, but they actually mention it in the audio drama that it happens). Yuna promises the people that she will defeat Sin, but Wakka tries to keep her from being made to promise such a thing at first, which is an interesting choice (“Wakka: Yuna, let’s go back to Besaid. They’ll push this all on you… Sin is for summoners, in their minds.”).
Where does the world go in this present circumstances? Why IS Yuna seemingly content to do what chafed her in the Eternal Calm short movie and stay praying in Besaid and helping the elders who are lost now that Yevon as they knew it is in shambles? Why are Lulu and Wakka enabling and protecting her in that? Why is Tidus looking injured and weak and why is Yuna keeping him at arm’s length? Why does she tell him that she’s fallen in love with someone else?
I know the typical story beat interpretation is “Yuna told him that and pushed him away so he wouldn’t be in danger for what she needs to do, bc defeating Sin caused his death last time”. But hear me out. Yuna knows Tidus isn’t alive. She knows that revealing that information to him will cause him to disappear again. She’s actively summoning him back to life and he has no idea (but he must suspect something is wrong, even before Yuna formally pulls away from him, he’s weakening and he probably doesn’t feel right in his own skin). I posit that her maintaining Tidus’s life is what she’s really doing praying in the Besaid Temple. She doesn’t want to get involved with the Moonflow situation, the shoopuf or the overflowing energy of the Moonflow itself. She doesn’t even really act when seeing all the ghosts in the crowd, and actively stops Kurgum from acting (plausible deniability: she and everyone else decide that sending them in that moment would be the wrong call and riots would break out, but that density of ghosts means that’s a significant amount of pyreflies that could become fiends at any moment).
I posit that Yuna’s powers are working, that people close to her think her powers aren’t working (Lulu and Wakka), and she’s hiding it from everyone else. That her powers aren’t working because she’s currently using them to maintain Tidus’s existence. And this maintaining is breaking the Farplane in half, because she’s powerful but has no idea what she’s doing. (Why would she really know what she’s doing or the consequences? Who has any information of what she’s doing and what will happen if she does it?) I posit that Yuna’s love for Tidus is so strong that it corrupts her sense of right and wrong. X-2 is Yuna largely going on a personal quest, and incidentally helping people but separating herself from the title of High Summoner and doing something she wants to do. Rikku encourages her to do something for herself for a change right before she agrees and runs off to become a sphere hunter. She still saves the world, this time from an ancient danger Old Yevon buried and an Unsent is threatening to use (for love, notably), but she did it in the course of looking for Tidus. Who the Fayth return to life, who she hugs and is so so relieved to have in her arms again.
She’s not going to let him go, she couldn’t let him die again so much that she called him back to life.
(side note: I never truly knew how this happened so I had to consult the wiki page on the novella, and I suspect what original information I was working with was misrepresented and misinterpreted. I openly admit that the wiki page doesn’t really help me fully understand what happened, aside from explaining how Tidus ended up in proximity to a bomb. My understanding from someone’s explanation was that an Unsent summoner on the island Yuna and Tidus got washed up on after a storm told her she could call back the dead if she wanted, as a summoner. They’re all made of pyreflies, Aeons and Fiends and People and Unsent alike, and summoners are in the business of manipulating pyreflies. Either calling them from the Fayth to form an Aeon, or Sending them to the Farplane so they do not become Fiends. A summoner with enough power could summon someone back from the dead, could they not? And this Unsent summoner knew how it worked, and told Yuna how to do it. But I don’t know how real that scene could be, or how accurate it is to what’s written in the book. It’s my rule of cool moment, though, and I worked with that as my understanding when I made this theory. We have to make our peace with that, if you’ll allow me this extrapolation of Spira’s rules and a summoner’s powers.)
(The meme is Tidus kicking a blitzball and it turned out it was a bomb and his head gets blown off, but wiki says they ended up on a vision of a Besaid from 1000 years ago, and the bomb was something neither Tidus or Yuna had seen before and to them it looked like a blitzball. So, Tidus approached what he thought was a blitzball, wondering who’s ball it was, and it exploded as he reached it. I still think that’s really dumb but I’m not editing it out bc Tidus’s death creates very interesting consequences.)
So, if Yuna is summoning Tidus back to life, and she desperately doesn’t want him to find this out so she avoids him and pushes him away through any means necessary, but he’s still weakening and fading enough to be noticeable by people… perhaps also himself… Yuna returning to Yevon in some capacity could just as likely be her looking for a means to keep feeding power to this summoning she’s doing so she doesn’t lose him. And what kind of consequences does it have to do this? He’s being summoned, but he’s not actually an Aeon. He’s not an Unsent, he’s not just being beckoned. He wasn’t even real, he was a dream in a summon held together by the raw power of Yu Yevon turning into Sin. The Moonflow overflowing and seeing a long-dead shoopuf is the least of the consequences. The Farplane is delicate, it requires careful maintenance, and here Yuna is shoving her foot in the door and holding it open for a solid year! And no one knows she’s doing this! Spira’s past is full of history, some of that long-buried secrets that no one was supposed to find again. Sin wasn’t supposed to be able to come back, but the ghosts aren’t staying ghosts anymore (“Lulu: I mean Sin came back, right? What’s to stop anything else from coming back?”).
Even people who only know her by reputation seem to think she’s acting strangely (“Kurgum: I thought Lady Yuna was… a righteous person.”), because something is wrong and no one can put their finger on what. Who would have the pieces to put any of this together, and who would even suspect Yuna in the first place? She’s actively not getting involved in politics, she’s locked herself in Besaid, she seems reluctant to answer someone she worked with and should be amicable with now (Baralai).
I think the story should follow down this path, I think it should find Yuna at the end of it, once savior and now destroyer. She’s willing to let the world rip apart in order to keep Tidus, and I think that’s a compelling premise for X-3. The past surging forward like ghosts, vengeful and lost and wanted and terrifying. Who sides with Yuna (Wakka, Lulu) and covers up the problem? Who bands together to face down the High Summoner (Tidus, Rikku)? Who doesn’t know where to place their allegiance, or who changes sides when they realize the extent of what Yuna’s hiding? What does she do when she’s faced with her friends, and the person she loves so much, telling her to stop?
There’s a line in Eternal Calm where Yaibal (named in X-2 but not in the movie itself), after asking about whether or not she’d be joining one of the factions, if she’d be making a faction of her own. And I think in this potential X-3, she’s making her own faction through the actions of becoming antagonist. She’s made Wakka cover for her, she acts in a way that make Lulu and Wakka both protect her regardless of whether or not they know what she’s doing. I think it would be so fascinating to make this a conscious decision on her part. Things have broken so utterly, and she’s desperate to hold them together, and becomes the antagonist in the process.
Squeenix would never do it, they’d never be so bold as to make Yuna the antagonist and follow through on this trajectory of her lying to people to hide that she’s the one breaking the world in half (up to returning the ghost of Sin itself to terrorize Spira). Sin isn’t the final boss in this one, it’d have to be Yuna, we have to stop her and fix what went wrong. It’s not ever gonna happen, but I still think Yuna should be the antagonist of X-3.

Incredibly objective ranking of Final Fantasy protagonists in order of hotness:
Clive - he is so attractive. I am constantly distracted by how attractive he is. And he's the goodest boy. And he has a beautiful voice. Everyone in this game is so attractive.
Cecil - I am basing this off his Amano art, his SNES menu portrait, and a secret third thing that exists in my head. He is attractive in a way FF villains are later, like you put both the "masculine" and "feminine" slider bars aaaalllll the way up. And after all, who is more good looking than a person whose face you can imagine differently depending on your mood.
Terra - much like Cecil, she looks like your dream girl, but she has to be hauntingly, ethereally beautiful, right? Celes might be hotter but her theme song isn't the world map music now is it.
Noctis - Prince Charmless, etc. you think he'd be this serious, broody guy but then he opens his mouth and you find out he's a lot nicer than you'd think but also a huge dork, which could be a positive or a negative, depending. Still, I would go for probably any of his friends before him. He is mostly this high on this list for me because I am incredibly fond of Ray Chase's voice
Lightning - you'd think it would be for "step on me" reasons, but. I actually imagine her getting quite endearingly flustered in any kind of spicy situation.
Squall - he's allegedly based on River Phoenix and Gackt. Unfortunately, he is hot. Also weirdly one of the more competent people on this list. Were he a real person he would have a very quiet but intense energy and very piercing eyes. Also a bit of a dick, which is a plus or minus ten to attractiveness depending on mood and preferences.
Cloud - really it all depends on how you imagine things and whether he ever gets comfortable with himself. So. I think. You're dealing with either something pretty awkward or the most fuckable twink in video games.
Tidus - his picture is beside "himbo" in the dictionary. Would, but I'm not proud of it.
Bartz - big himbo energy much like Tidus. Unlike Tidus, I think probably pretty average looking to maybe "really cute if you squint." Very positive and calming energy. Might be asexual, though.
Firion - based on his character portraits I think he's a pretty handsome guy, but unfortunately there's just not much of a personality to latch onto there
Zidane - because of the art style I cannot find anyone in this game attractive with the exception of Beatrix.
Vaan - someone come get this lost child. His washboard abs will not save him from the fact that he has no personality beyond being slightly annoying.
Uncategorizable:
Warrior of Light I: this guy is either one of six 8 bit sprites or the guy on the box art. If guy on the box art, probably near the bottom of the list. Theoretically physically attractive in the same genre Cecil is, but without any sort of personality to hang it on. Does the platonic ideal of heroism fuck? I am thinking not.
Warriors of Light of XI and XIV - Schrodinger's hotness. Your OC is precisely as hot or not hot as you like.
Warrior of Light III/Onion Knight - similar to above but also they are children

9 people you’d like to get to know better
omg thank you @neotula for tagging me!!! i love being tagged in things!!! yay!!!!!!
Three Ships:
I guess I'll do the first three that come to mind????? I don't have a #1 OTP or anything like that so
Sonya/Genny. They're just so freaking pretty together. I love women!!!!!!
Jecht/The Emperor: ok hear me out. HEAR ME OUT. why wouldn't someone ship them? when Tidus dies or whatever and Jecht gives him his lifepower/energy/whatever the hell happens, the Emperor takes JECHT when he's like that and gosh their conversation in Dream's End where the Emperor is all like 'actually I've been lying to you this entire time lol' UGHGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
Cecil/Rosa/Kain: ummm idk i just had a fleeting thought about mind-controlled kain and mind-controlled cecil and which one would be the lesser evil to rosa. like. i don't know. but mind-control shenanigans aside they love each other very much and that is fact. i love ffiv
First Ever Ship: it was probably len/luka tbh. i feel like people got peeved at it because len is supposedly 14 and luka is supposedly 20 but i just aged em up. something about the yellow/pink combo (and the fact i was obsessed with vocaloid for like a decade too)
Last Song: I'm currently listening to the Tetra Master theme from FFIX :)
Currently Reading: Allen Ginsberg's A Supermarket in California. It's for class. I hate poetry, but I have to do it for my grade. I also have to read a bunch of other poems. Gosh, I hate poems. I don't know what my professor wants me to interpret from poems because it feels like he wants a "right answer" but my answer is that "it was a poem and it did things."
Currently Watching: I don't watch TV. Or movies. The last thing I watched was the first Twilight for the first time! I wish I sparkled in the sunlight.
Currently Consuming: Nothing ATM, but me and a friend went to a bakery and I got her a whoopie pie! So yay for her! We also got coffee before that, and it was delicious.
Currently Craving: I'm not hungry right now, so nothing. But I could go for some of Miss Vickie's Spicy Dill Pickle chips when I do want to nosh. I wonder if the vending machine has been restocked...
i don't know 9 people who would want to do this. i feel like @lil-melody and @ashnwolves might get a kick out of it. um. if you want me to secretly add your name to that list let me know because when people are like "anyone can do it!!!" it still feels kinda awkward. or just steal it! that's ok too i think :P

Can we see Class and Club for your Octavinelle boys?
(Ask Meme Here)
Tumblr media
Class: He's a first year, same as Levi, So alongside each other, they have Epel, Sebek, A/Deuce, Jack and Ortho.
Ace: He's teasing but is quick to relent
Deuce: A much closer friend. Also one trying to not let their anger get the better of them, haunted by their pasts.
Epel: A fascinating look at another culture, Tidus would love to visit Harveston at some point
Jack: A nice guy! Determined, good morals, but a bit cagey
Sebek: Definitely brusk; Probably the one first year he gets along with least. Doesn't understand the self-hatred, but is too wary to ask more about it (but understands it might have something to do with Human/Fae relations)
Ortho: Just as curious and loving of the world around them
Club: His club is actually Film Studies! He's receptive to Vil's instruction because 1) he's clear, 2) Tidus doesn't have any qualms about being backstage (Lighting). He also gets to hang out with his lil buddie, Tallis!
Tumblr media
Class: He's a first year, same as Tidus, so alongside each other, they have Epel, Sebek, A/Deuce, Jack and Ortho.
Ace: Quick to retort against Ace's teasing, willing to escalate to fists
Deuce: Also willing to escalate words to fists, but actually gets bored when Deuce pulls back and disengages.
Epel: another one to scrap. Levi's actually pretty good with languages and can clearly understand his more country twang, but can't understand how others can't.
Jack: Jack has clocked Levi in the mouth once, and immediately disengaged. No worse than a warning bite. It was def enough for Levi to not push his luck.
Ortho: Ortho is Levi's in to Ignihyde and it's tech. Levi is a bit of a reverse engineer, if he weren't a part of Octavinelle. He's just too bent on Freedom to worry now about tech. That isn't to say his curiosity as to how to incorporate tech into his plans isn't there.
Sebek: Another one to come to scrap with him XD. Though, Levi is surprisingly adept with energy magic (a surprise to Sebek after he cast a lightning spell) It only spurs Sebek to get stronger to find a way to overpower him
Club: He's a Science Club Bro! Being two grades below Rook or Trey, they are more than glad to teach him all they know (As long as one or the other doublecheck to make sure he's not 'sampling' the duds for his poison reserves)

My music video review ~vol.2~
※I recommend reading the link below before reading the review. https://www.tumblr.com/aruz11/743804475824914432/this-is-the-first-post?source=share
Title: Wakka's Gourmet Race
Post date: 19 Jan 2009
length: 1:10
song: Gourmet Race
youtube
This time I review the video named Wakka's Gourmet Race, uploaded 19 Jan 2009. As the title shows, it focuses on Wakka. Come to think of it, the Wakka meme has spread rapidly over the past two or three years. It feels a bit strange for a character who isn't the protagonist of a game from over 20 years ago to suddenly receive such a strong spotlight, but I think it's a good thing considering the passion and attachment being poured into it. And, I also believe this reflects the magnitude of potential that FFX and Wakka possess. Now, let's begin.
About the song
This is a song used in the game "Kirby Super Deluxe." It's a fast-paced track that feels like it could be played at a sports event, which I think suits the sporty nature of Wakka. Consequently, it was enjoyable to synchronize clips with the music. The original song was short,so the audio was completed quickly. This song also became popular as a music video track at the time, and like "U.N. Owen was Tidus?", I referenced several music videos using these tracks. It's nostalgic to think back on those times. I would love to see a new music video using this song.
Features of this video
First of all, this video was actually made as the B-side of Native fayth, which I made around the same time. I often found myself stuck in the production of Native Fayth, so I made this video as a way to change my mood. Because of that, Wakka's Gourmet Race is not as meticulously as Native Fayth and I thought twice if I sould have uploaded it. In fact, shortly after posting, Wakka's Gourmet Race received hardly any comments or reactions, and there were times when I regretted posting it. But eventually, Wakka's Gourmet Race started to gain traction, becoming the most-viewed video on my channel.
For the audio, I mostly used lines by Wakka. Since Wakka speaks with a Hawaiian accent, I had a bit of trouble choosing the lines. Additionally, Wakka is an energetic character,  so naturally, many of his lines are delivered with high energy. I also included a few Japanese voice clips in this video. He says, "Wazukana jikan wo mitsukete," and at the time,  it had been customary to include this phrase.
Regarding the visuals, I kept the editing simple, with minimal effects added. I also incorporated battle scenes sporadically throughout, which I believe gives it a sense of dynamism. I made this video in just a day or two without dwelling too much on the details. For videos of this length, perhaps this approach  is the most effective.
My favorite scenes
Tumblr media
0:25~0:28 It is the only scene where lines other than Wakka's were used. "Calm down" matched well.
Tumblr media
0:30~0:33 Wakka shows somewhat comical motions even during battles.
Tumblr media
0:38~0:43 "Wazukana jikan wo mitsukete," means "Finding a little time,"
That's all for now. Thank you for visiting. See you next time.

❝ Kairi’s gonna be a granny by the time we make it back home. ❞
And in the most egregious display of backseat driving, Riku cannot even give Sora the courtesy of planting his rear in one of two gummiship copilot seats. He’s made himself rather comfortably leaning on the captain’s seat, pointing over Sora’s shoulder anytime Sora is even a MICRO OF A MICRO OF AN INCH off of a sharp turn.
❝ C’mon, Sora, you really want to keep her waiting? Or do you want to kick this thing up? ❞ The prodding is not entirely graceless however. Because a little birdy told this keyblade master that Sora had some nifty tricks up his sleeve in this ship. So sometimes he had to be the smarmiest among these island knuckleheads to wake his friend up a little.
All in good supportive jest. So then comes that telltale smirk of Riku’s.
❝ Or should I take the wheel to get us there? ❞
"Hey!" There's an instant where it feels like his voice was thick with offense. In fact, the bigger surprise would be that it's being faked due to the every studious and protective palm tree that remains a shadow above him, being a guiding hand for a craft that he.. for all intents and purposes.
Has more TIME in getting down! That agonizing arrogance of his best friend! The guy rides the thing one damn time and suddenly, he believes himself to be the all guiding expert.
While Sora certainly wouldn't deny Riku's aptitude for being a quick on his feet learner, a quality it looks like many wielders of the whimsical Keyblade happen to be blessed with. Last time he heard, the cockpit isn't a kitchen for egos.. In most cases, Sora does in fact, feel pretty badass whenever his newly improvised maneuvers lays waste to a Heartless armada.
"First of all! All that means is that if it does that take long, a pair of awesome n' fit grandpas are gonna be swinging this bad boy down to say hi! Let's get that right!" He states with an extra touch of 'harrumph' to his tone. The way his mind roams whenever in the beautiful, and endless expanding Sky known as space always made him want to take time, to drink in the view of the nebula and spiraling smatters of color, how the intrinsic energies of darkness and light managed to meld such a beautiful ocean of stars.
Tumblr media
"Buuuuuut! If you were getting a lil impatient--" Within that moment would their glances be exchanged, a natural, carefree understanding set between them as that damnable smirk of his instantly stoked the competitive flames. Part of the hero figures that Riku may have a point.
The faster they return, not only can he get his Kairi time, but beating this guy in an old fashioned race would certainly derive some more humble nature.
Maybe they can even get Tidus into it too! He has heard that he hadn't given up his training.
Within a fleeting moment would Sora's hand move with practiced finesse, turning gears, adjusting levers and clearly revealing his comfortable nature with the Gummi ship as the vessel found itself engorged upon the fuel of their good banter. Soon, a flourish of fire light would kick up within the exhaust, blowing fumes of starlight and pure energy as a resonating thud of his heart echoes deep within. "Congratulations, you bullied your way to the first class."
"Let's go!"
There would be no hesitation this time as sudden momentum to anyone else would've thrown them all the way to the back! While Riku stood a more respectable chance, his pettiness about the keyblade master's insistent habit to keep on his feet in a sitting station made him want to teach a little lesson. The Excalibur was charged with figure as it began to accelerate into lightspeeds, surfing through the endless expanse as a skillful whip and curve through an asteroid belt, with what looks like too many close calls reflects the keybearer's intent.
Oh, they'll charge back home alright, and record time meant it was time to bend the whims of nature to their skill!

Final Fantasy: the dumpster fire that won't die.
Alright, time to dive into the Final Fantasy franchise. Or as I like to call it: The world's longest-running experiment in how much nonsense gamers are willing to tolerate. I promised I'd rip this series a new one, and honestly, the only hard part is deciding where to start.
Let’s just get the obvious out of the way: How the hell do you call something Final when there are 16 mainline games and about 700 spin-offs? Final Fantasy? More like Never-Ending Fever Dream of Chocobos, Crystals, and Characters With Dumb Hair.
Let’s talk about those protagonists for a second. Every single one of them looks like they walked straight out of an anime convention after a failed Hot Topic shopping spree. You’ve got Cloud Strife, the moody emo kid with a sword the size of a car door, and Squall—who’s basically Cloud but somehow even more insufferable. And then there’s Tidus from Final Fantasy X. What kind of protagonist laughs like he’s trying to audition for the world’s worst infomercial? I mean, there’s a reason that scene is memed to death. It's like the developers were trying to make you cringe so hard you’d forget how awful the rest of the game was.
The stories? Don’t even get me started. I mean, try to summarize the plot of Final Fantasy VII without sounding like you’re high on three different types of hallucinogens. “So, there’s this corporation that’s draining life energy from the planet, and then this dude named Sephiroth—who’s supposed to be the villain but looks like he’s auditioning for a boy band—wants to destroy the planet using some meteor thing while being possibly related to this ancient alien species? Oh, and also your best friend dies but don’t worry, you can bring her back in Kingdom Hearts.” Yeah, makes total sense.
And don’t think Final Fantasy XV gets a pass just because it came out more recently. Oh, no, that road trip from hell is just as bad. Who thought it was a good idea to turn Final Fantasy into Bromance Simulator 2016? I don’t care how good the food looks in the game; I’m not here to watch a group of whiny, brooding man-children try to "bond" while driving around in a car like they’re on some ridiculous Final Fantasy-themed season of Top Gear. Also, side note: if I wanted to do chores, I’d get up and fold my laundry, not hunt random monsters to earn gil so I can stay at a digital hotel. Thanks, but no thanks.
And let’s be real: The combat system is like a fever dream that changes every game. Want turn-based combat? Sure, until they decide they hate it. Want real-time action? Okay, but expect it to be as clunky as a 1990s arcade machine. Then there’s XII where you just program your characters to do everything for you while you watch the battle like some kind of lazy overlord. Auto-battle is not gameplay, Square Enix. It’s just pressing "Start" and hoping the game wins itself.
But the best part is, no matter how many Final Fantasy games come out, people act like every new entry is going to be the second coming of gaming Christ. Spoiler alert: It’s not. It’s going to be a shiny mess of convoluted plot threads, melodramatic characters, and combat systems that make you wonder if the developers have ever actually played a game before.
Yet, somehow, year after year, the fanboys flock back. "But Ezekiel, Final Fantasy VII is the greatest game of all time!" Yeah, if you’re stuck in 1997 and still think polygonal characters with Popeye arms are cutting-edge. “But Ezekiel, the FF7 Remake!”—Oh please, they turned the first ten hours of the original into a 40-hour nostalgia cash-grab with even more filler than the plot already had. And don’t even get me started on the absurd "multiple parts" scheme. Of course, they’re milking it. It's Square Enix—milking things dry is their specialty.
At the end of the day, Final Fantasy is like that band that used to be cool but has been coasting on past glory for so long that nobody realizes they haven’t made a good album in decades. The series should have been laid to rest after X—the last halfway decent entry—but nope, here we are, 15 more games deep and still pretending like this bloated mess is worth our time.
n conclusion, if you’re still out there defending Final Fantasy, you’re probably the same person who insists pineapple on pizza is a good idea. Go ahead and keep wearing those rose-tinted glasses while you wander around aimlessly in the land of chocobos and crystals. The rest of us will be playing something that hasn’t been running on fumes for the past two decades.
Until next time, stop playing bad games. Seriously, it’s not that hard.
– Ezekiel

❝ not at all, but this isn't really my first rodeo either. ❞
being transported to another world once was already bizarre, but three times ? this has to be a new record. ( though tidus doubted that anyone was even keeping track in the first place ). he gets noctis' confusion though, and the stark disinterest in some barren world's problems when he probably has his own problems and friends to get back to in his own world. tidus spins on his heels then to look at the prince, continuing to walk backwards as he did so. ocean eyes study the other for a moment, smiling at the thought that he definitely did not give off princely energy.
❝ i wouldn't let it worry you too much, though. just go with the flow and we'll figure something out. ❞

[Kingdom Hearts] Old Habits, New Reasons
Summary: Three times in which Namine shies away from social functions just to draw, and the one time someone joined her. [oneshot][character study][NamiXi if you really wanna squint][also Namiku if you squint a little less]
Rating: K
Word Count: 3,469 words

---
Their question had thrown Namine off slightly. She sheepishly looked down at her small sketchbook as if it could answer the question for her. The white page stared back at her in silence.
A part of Namine knew this would happen eventually. There was always that fear that someone would follow her, ask her what she was doing, and then tell her to rejoin the others. But that wasn't what they were asking, was it? They wanted to know why she was drawing. It was a simple question, and it was a bit odd that someone would have lugged a caboodle of art supplies with them to a banquet.
"Well?" the other girl asked. "Is there someone who would get mad you're drawing, even if you did it around your friends?"
"I don't think so." Namine decided, slowly. "But sometimes... it's just easier to draw without other people around you. And sometimes, when people find out that you're good at something, they make you do that something for them. It's not very fun."
"Do you always leave to draw, though?"
At first, Namine wanted to disagree with all her heart. But in introspection, it was more of a vice than she cared to admit. She loved drawing, but didn't like others watching her as she did it. When did that happen, she wondered. That didn't used to be the case...
"Sometimes." Namine finally said. She held her sketchbook a bit tighter before adding, "But only on certain occasions."
"Like?"
Namine looked over at the other girl with curiosity. She was greeted with a look just as inquisitive as her own. Maybe even more so. There was a genuine interest; that much was certain. Maybe there was a budding artist in their midst?
"Well..." she carefully said, moving her sketchbook a bit to flip through the earlier pages, "There was this one time..."
. . .
It was a small comfort that, while she wasn't a Keyblade wielder herself, the others considered her when they all got together. She still made sure that her presence didn't disturb anyone. Being quiet and observant was Namine's most reliable vice. That, and drawing. There wasn't much else she knew how to do. Her time as a Nobody barely ranged a year, and after that she was placed safely inside Kairi's heart until recently. Being a Somebody was... confusing, to say the least.
Being asked to join in on a slumber party with Kairi and Xion had been a surprise- perhaps even more so because Master Aqua herself gave her the invitation. Namine certainly didn't expect it to take place in the Land of Departure either. The world seemed far too grand to her -far too important in the history of Keyblade wielders- that it could be used for anything beyond a training arena. She was proven wrong after entering the Great Hall with Kairi. Aqua had given them a spot in front of the thrones, already decorated with sleeping bags for all four of them and a small assortment of snacks.
"I've never got to have a proper slumber party before, since it was me and Terra for most of our childhoods." Aqua admitted at some point. "Feels weird having one with you guys now. I feel like a mom."
It was Xion who, without skipping a beat, cheerfully declared, "And you're the best one I'll never have!"
"Xion!" both Aqua and Kairi declared, each with their own level of bewilderment. Namine only offered a stifled laugh. So proud at their reactions, Xion gave them all a smile so big, it almost rivaled Sora's.
After that, they started to talk about various things since they all met together. Apparently everyone's training was going rather well. Kairi was beginning to get a handle of second tier elemental magic, while Xion was working on personal techniques on and off for the past week. It was around this time that Namine politely excused herself from the others. They had been so caught up in their conversation that they didn't even notice.
Namine went to where she and Kairi had placed their personal things to find her caboodle. The caboodle was a neat little box with drawers that opened the same time she opened the lid. She was able to put all her art supplies in it. Most of them, anyway- her normal sketchbook was too large to fit. Instead, she used a smaller pad that was placed where the mirror in the caboodle was. Once Namine made sure she had everything, she carefully found a spot far enough away from the others so she could draw them. It honestly wasn't very far, but it was still far enough away that the other three didn't really notice her. That was fine. If anything, it was perfect.
The sounds of the others almost masked the sound of her pencil against paper. Spending most of her life locked away with nothing but drawing to distract her gave Namine a slight skill in speed drawing. However, she took her time when she started to work on her friends. She wanted as much detail as she could.
But she didn't bother to sketch her own sleeping bag. She tried to tell herself that it was because it ruined the composition. But deep down she knew it was because she didn't fit with the others, and so it didn't need to be included.
Namine finished her drawing without the others ever knowing she was gone. She placed everything back in her caboodle, then went back as Kairi went into a long story about Tidus and Wakka back on the islands. It was nice; the sounds of friendship. Namine had been the first to go to sleep that night.
. . .
At first, the only response she got was a quiet, "Oh..."
"It was a really fun time!" Namine quickly insisted. "And it really was a treat to be included."
"But you drew yourself out."
Namine flinched slightly. "It worked out better that way. From the angle I was at, it would have looked weird because I had the really light sleeping bag, and everything was so dark anyway..."
The other girl only looked more guilty.
"Do you still have the picture?" she wondered.
"I think so." Namine agreed. She adjusted herself so she could better go through her sketchbook before flipping through the earlier pages. "Here," she then offered as she handed it over.
There was a small hum as the other ran her fingers over the drawing. Namine had made deliberate choices in lighting around the three Keyblade wielders- light coming off of them as if they were lighting up the whole room. If you looked ever closer, you could see the detail of the castle's floor, and even make out the silhouettes of the three thrones in the background.
"Does anyone know that you go somewhere away from everyone to draw?" the other girl asked, handing the sketchbook back to Namine.
Namine gave a fond, almost bashful smile.
"There is someone..."
. . .
"There's a lot of people here." Namine noted as she tried to look over the crowd. Riku wasn't making the same amount of effort. Instead, he just casually looked on with a hand at his hip. Curse him being a full head taller than she was.
"Aqua said that Disney Town holds the Dream Festival every year." Riku agreed with a small nod. "Can't be that easy since Queen Minnie has almost been reigning the kingdom alone for the past few years. The effort is definitely amazing though."
Namine agreed with a nod and a small noise of affirmation. Disney Town looked absolutely splendid for the festival. All the colors, and the smells, and the energy was enough to put anyone in a good mood. The grip Namine had on her caboodle tightened slightly. A frown crossed her lips as she considered that there might have been too much commotion. There wasn't a good place to just sit and zone out without some kind of noise maker going off.
Riku must have noticed this. He looked over at her, and quickly saw her firm grip on the caboodle's handle.
"Are you sure you don't want to leave that in the Gummi Ship?" he asked. He even made a mild gesture to the box, which only made Namine hold it closer to her.
"No. I'm going to use it." Namine insisted. "I just... I just need someplace a bit more quiet..."
Riku nodded. He looked up again to see that Queen Minnie had taken the stage. The queen looked as beautiful as always in her formal pink and red ballgown. The jewels on her crown glittered under the multicolored overhead lights. Everyone cheered at seeing her- the love and admiration they had for their leader was enough to be felt from miles away. Minnie was a good queen, there was no contest about that.
As Minnie tried to settle the crowd down so she could speak, Riku bent down a bit to quietly tell Namine something.
"There's a sewage grate somewhere behind us. If you take it, there's a gizmo that will lead you up to one of the buildings overlooking the racetrack. Don't know about you, but a good aerial shot might be something to capture for later."
Namine grinned. "Thank you Riku." she said before giving him a small peck on his cheek. The young Keyblade master's face gleamed with a humble blush as he stood tall again, almost as if he had never moved at all. Namine laughed a bit at it before leaving.
Finding, and getting into, the grate had not been an issue. It did take her awhile to navigate the gizmo, though. But it was all worth it once she got to the top of a particular building. Namine let out a soft 'Oh...' of wonder as she sat down near the edge facing the racetrack. Riku was right- this was a good place to work. If only she was able to use larger sketch paper in her travelling kit.
When she was finished, Namine very quickly tried to find Riku again. She shouted his name after spotting him. He barely had time to turn around before she proudly displayed her new drawing to him.
"Do you think Queen Minnie will like it?" she asked, rather breathlessly.
Riku looked at her before looking down at the drawing. He put on a wide smile before telling her, "She's going to love it. It's perfect."
. . .
That story had brought about a rather brighter mood in the other girl.
"Did Queen Minnie like the drawing?" she asked. "You did give it to her after the festival, right?"
A sense of pride welled in Namine's heart, leading her to sit a bit straighter. "She loved it." she grinned. "She immediately had the brooms take it to the gallery to be expanded and mounted. You should have seen the look on Riku's face. He was as proud as I was, and probably more surprised!"
"I could only imagine." the other girl laughed. "Oh!" she then said, "Have you ever gone someplace with a view so nice that you just couldn't replicate it no matter how hard you tried? It's hard to recreate any atmosphere, in my opinion. I wanna know if you ever tried to as well."
Namine let out a soft hum as she thought about it. She let out a small noise of realization when it came to her.
"I did once before, yes." she agreed. "Since Kairi's parents don't mind me staying with them, I was able to join her, Riku, Wakka, Tidus, and Selphie to a beach party they had. It was still summer vacation, if I remember correctly. And Tidus really wanted to have a girls versus boys match..."
. . .
"Head's up!" Tidus shouted before serving the volleyball over the net.
"Cheater!" Selphie shouted back as Kairi managed to spike the ball back. Tidus only gave a rather sinister cackle back. However, at that point, no one was able to break their concentration just to smack talk each other.
Namine watched as Kairi and Selphie worked against Tidus and Riku in a rather well matched volleyball tourney. Wakka wasn't too far away- he had lost a bet earlier and had to make food for everyone. The smell of pineapples and fish hung in the air. It was the warmth of the midday sun that Namine loved the most. The feeling enveloped its way around her like a comforting hug. She let out a soft sigh as she got a bit more comfortable.
The sudden urge to draw made her fingers twitch.
This wasn't a good spot for it, though. She was too close to the others for anything but sand to get onto the paper than color. As much as she loved watching the volleyball match, it was still a bit too distracting. Namine started to get up and casually looked around for a better spot to draw. It didn't take long for her eyes to train to a crow's nest not far from the shore. It was part of a large treehouse that seemed to encompass the island. She looked back at her friends for a moment before quietly leaving them. If anyone noticed she was going, they certainly didn't question her about it.
After getting herself situated at the higher point, Namine found herself gaping at the scene below her. Her friends happily playing on the beach, the light reflections off the water, and even the island holding the paopu tree providing a view so beautiful, so rich, that she wasn't even aware that she was opening her caboodle at first. Seeing the Destiny Islands through Sora's heart was nothing compared to the real thing. Was it possible just to freeze time here and let everything else wash away? She smiled a bit to herself. She did have a way to freeze time, in a way.
The only unfortunate thing was that she wouldn't be able to capture it all. She couldn't encapsulate the smell of the sea, or the sounds of Tidus demanding the girls had leverage over him for some reason. She gave a small smile as she continued to work. Most of her effort was spent trying to reflect the sea around them. A certain impatience came over her as she carefully did each detail. You always had to start with the big stuff, then go down smaller. She was just so eager to capture this moment, anyway she could, that she was always picturing this drawing when it was done.
Namine had to force herself to stop after an hour. Her hands were starting to hurt, and her stomach was growling for food. She cracked her knuckles, barely relieving the tension in them, before putting her stuff away. There would always be time to clean the picture up later. For now, she needed to rejoin her friends.
. . .
And so, we were brought back to our initial setting- the banquet in Radiant Garden.
Namine had thought at first that this would be the perfect opportunity to work on drawing food. But the actual banquet itself had a lot more activity than she was anticipating. There were too many people at the tables to have space to stand at for a few minutes, and she had tried to get a plate for herself to take elsewhere- the allure of delectable aromas wouldn't let her go far without wolfing everything down. So she decided to get a higher view.
To her luck, there was a balcony overlooking the main area. It wasn't blocked off or anything, so Namine quietly crept her way to the top. She found a place to carefully overlook the area and found herself at awe. Even if she was aware that someone was behind her, she probably wouldn't have known it at first.
"Namine!" a voice suddenly said in surprise. Namine jumped a good foot before turning her attention to the newcomer. She relaxed a little when she found it was just Xion.
"Xion..." the blonde girl sighed. "It's just you."
"Am I interrupting you? I'm sorry. I'm not interested in food, and the boys are really going at it, so I really wanted to do this writing exercise where you describe an atmosphere, and..."
"No, no, no. You're fine." Namine insisted. She moved her stuff a bit before gesturing for Xion to sit down next to her. "Here," she offered, "Sit next to me. The view is nice from this area."
Xion smiled in thanks before carefully sitting down. She looked out over the balcony and gasped.
"You're right, this is a good view!" Xion marveled. Her eyes expanding in wonder. "This is the perfect place for Ebba to plant a listening device onto an enemy!"
"Ebba?" Namine wondered. "Who's Ebba?"
At Namine's confusion, Xion's face lit up in a deep scarlet.
"She's my... I think Pence called it 'self-insert.' It's a character that's based on me, but sometimes has a few differences. I've based most of the stories I write on stuff I did in the Organization. It's helped a lot with trying to cope with it. You know?"
Namine shrunk a little. "Yeah..." she agreed in a tiny voice.
"But it's real fun too!" Xion told her, trying to divert the heavy topic a bit. "I base everyone in story with someone in real life! You should see the guy I based on Xemnas... I do a lot of mean things to him."
Namine let out a small chuckle. But then a thought occurred to her.
"You based the characters in your story on us?"
"Of course I did!" she happily declared, her blush growing a bit, besides. "Roxas is Lucas, Master Aqua is head knight Meikai, I even have Pluto as the brave pup Mercury!"
"Do... Do you have someone based on me?"
Xion paused for a moment. Her face going still. However, just as quickly, her smile came back as wide as ever.
"Not yet, but I can!" she decided. She hummed a bit as she thought it over some more. "But I don't have to if you don't want to. I think I'll call her... Syrena."
"Syrena..." Namine hummed in thought. She then gave a bright smile in appreciation. "I like it."
"Great!" Xion beamed. She let out a rather contented sigh before asking, "What about you? Why did you come here?" She looked down at Namine's sketchpad and art supplies for a moment then added, "Did you come all this way just to draw?"
After some hesitation, Namine told her. Carefully, and in her own time. Xion listened intently- only asking questions when Namine was done relating a certain day. When the subject came back around to where they were, Xion seemed to understand much better.
"I get it now." she said.
"You do?" Namine wondered.
Xion gave a thoughtful little nod before explaining, "It's easier for you to draw when it's more quiet. That was how it was before. I think it's great that you're still drawing, even though you started because you were held hostage by the Organization. But the Organization didn't give you the skill you have, Namine. That’s all your own. Kinda like how writing is my special thing. We have ways to just... be ourselves, you know? It's comforting. It's like knowing that, even though we didn't start out in this world with our own goals or ideals, we can make them on our own now. We're free now, Namine. Free to do whatever we want."
Namine absently hugged her sketchbook. "I like that thought." she admitted. "I never really saw it that way before, either. Drawing is something that I know I can do. Something that won't harm others. But you are right- it's what makes me... me. Thank you."
Xion grinned. A wide, bright grin that could have lit up a room. It gave Namine an idea.
"What does Ebba look like?" she questioned, at the same time she pulled out one of her sketching pencils. "Does she look just like you, or are there a lot of differences?"
There was a moment of confusion on Xion's face, then a bright flicker of joy. Not a second after, she burst into a long babble about her character. She even used her arms to illustrate certain concepts and mannerisms. Namine laughed, and did her best to keep up. Xion was so passionate about her characters- it almost made Namine jealous. For the next few hours, Namine did a blend of Xion's idea for Ebba, while Xion herself got to writing about how Ebba got to meet a new acquaintance; a mysterious girl named Syrena, who -while mostly shy- was very well loved.

I did a thing, and it is a dumb thing, but I'm trying to calm my nerves before I have frickin' lazer beams shot into my eyes.
I took a (slightly curated) list of Final Fantasy characters and dumped it into a Random Pair Generator to see what would happen. Here are some of my favorites. (We're going to go ahead and assume everyone is of the age of consenting adults.)
Libertus Ostium <-> Holly Teulle
My absolute favorite. Of course. Of course! These two have perfectly complimentary levels of spiciness and responsibility.
Ardyn Izunia <-> Paine
Hahahahaha...ha... Paine would snap Ardyn in two.
Reno <-> Setzer Gabbiani
I don't know why this works, it just does.
Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn <-> Yuffi Kisaragi
First of all, can you just imagine the adventures these two would get up to? I can see them having friendly competitions to see who could crush the most watermelons between their thighs.
Libertus Ostium <-> Oerba Dia Vanille
I can see Libertus + Fang for sure, but I can also see him and Vanille having an absolutely amazing time hunting together.
Cid nan Garlond <-> Jecht
The relationship between these two would be the most chaotic, insane fun. Cid would be constantly yelling at Jecht to hold the flashlight still while working under the hood of whatever creation he's fixing up in the garage while Jecht keeps a blitzball up in the air with his head, knees, feet, chest, etc. like a football player.
Noctis Lucis Caelum <-> Alphinaud Leveilleur
Alphinaud would be a calm, steadying influence on Noct, while Noct would teach Alphinaud the value of laying in bed playing games on their phones every now and again.
Raubahn Aldynn <-> Sania Yeagre
Raubahn would never let it show, but he'd be a right mess anytime Sania left on a research mission.
Elena <-> Dino Ghiranze
I picture Dino meeting Elena on the beach to show her his newest jeweled creation -- created just for her.
Rude <-> Sabin Rene Figaro
Sabin would always find a way to make Rude laugh, much to his chagrin.
Jessie Raspberry <-> Auron
Auron would be absolutely charmed by Jessie's big, dramatic energy.
General Leo Cristophe <-> Shera
Shera + commanding personalities, amiright?
Rikku <-> Dino Ghiranze
Oh my god there would be so much fucking.
Gladiolus Amicitia <-> Kain Highwind
Oh my god there would be so much fucking.
Cor Leonis <-> Celes Chere
This one just speaks for itself.
Tifa Lockhart <-> Rydia
Craft fairs... and ceramic kitten figurines.
Yda Hext <-> Jessie Raspberry
Maximum bimbo energy. Pure of heart, dumb of ass.
If you would like to do this dumb thing yourself you can find the list of names below the cut. I left a lot out because I'm either not familiar enough with the characters (II, III, V, XI, XII) or I don't care about them that much (VIII).

Note
which ff male characters are leos?
Canonically Cloud is the only Leo (his birthday is August 11).
However, Squall is technically a Virgo because his birthday is Aug 23 which is when the Virgo dates begin but also right when Leo season ends. So that technically makes him a Leo-Virgo cusp which if anyone played FFVIII can see how he has both traits.
Unfortunately Tidus and Balthier don't have canon birthdays but in my opinion they are Leos because they give off major Leo energy, I don't care what people say lol.

I noticed the topic of kh parents brought up and I was wondering, do you have any headcanons concerning the parents of the kh characters? What about characters who don't have biological parents in the traditional sense, like Nobodies, Replicas, etc? Do you think the parents of their Others or Originals would count as their bio parents? Would Sora's parents count as Roxas's? And do you think any of the characters have siblings? Sorry I've just been thinking about this stuff A LOT lately.
Actually, not really. Which is surprising because I’ve said the familial relationships are some of my favorite. The most I have are that Sora gets his spiky hair from his mom, who I imagine to have more dirty blonde hair, and that Sora’s dad has been close friends with Tidus’s dad their whole lives (with Tidus’s parents just being the KH versions of his Final Fantasy parents. Jecht has a lot of energy and nowhere to put it except sports, but I imagine that without the fame he had in FFX that he’s a lot more mellow and closer to his personality in Dissidia. Still a troublemaker, but less of a fame-obsessed jackass. Closer to what he was like with Auron and Braska in the spheres)
For Kairi, I do think that her biological parents are dead and that she was raised by her grandmother. Sometimes I toss around the idea that they were killed along with Ienzo’s parents in an accident together, the only difference between the two being that Kairi still had biological family to take her in while Ienzo didn’t, so Ansem the Wise took him in
As for if they’d count as anyone’s biological parents, it’s hard to say since EVERYONE’S situation is wildly different. Roxas takes more after Ven in appearance but was originally Sora’s body, so do his genetics reflect Sora because that’s literally the body he’s in or Ven, who he appears as? Nobody knows what the deal with Namine is in terms of her body. Frankly, I’m not entirely sure she had a physical one before being placed in a Replica body. Xion’s body is clearly based on Kairi, but distorted. Is it distorted enough to be almost unrecognizable from a genetic standpoint? Not to mention the fact that she didn’t have a stable appearance at first (being able to appear as different people to others at the same time) and so shouldn’t have had anything resembling a genetic signature until getting her finalized Replica body in KH3. The only one who’d clearly be able to trace their genetics to someone is Repliku, who should be a 1:1 copy of Riku and he’s no longer in the picture SO...
I’ve said in the past, though, that the series generally doesn’t seem to care about genetics in terms of appearance, moreso the “impression” each character gives. Looks are simply a form given to the “heart” and can symbolize the connections between characters. So I think it’s ultimately a moot point. I mean, if we were to apply our universe’s understanding of genetics, then the situation is still that Xion and Namine may resemble Kairi and may, genetically, be similar enough to be considered biological sisters, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the changes in their appearance would align with Kairi’s parents, you know? Same with the Roxas/Ven/Sora thing. We just don’t know enough about anyone’s parents to make that call. It’s really all up to interpretation at the moment
I do think Sora and Kairi’s parents would be cool with adopting the Nobody/Replica kids. Sora’s because they’re probably very nice and welcoming people, Kairi’s because she’s already adopted (on Destiny Islands) and she can easily just claim “long lost sister(s)” and HOW could you break them up now that they’ve found each other? Riku’s seem like they’d be stricter to me and may have had some resistance about taking Repliku if he was still around, but I imagine Riku would insist on it
As for if any of them have siblings? Not Sora and Riku, at least. If only because siblings are never mentioned, not even when Riku says that they’d never see their parents again the night Destiny Islands fell. He specifies parents, not family. Kairi and the members of Organization XIII (sans Ienzo/Zexion because if he had a sibling then why didn’t Ansem take them in, too?) are the only original characters I’d say could have siblings that we simply don’t know about (I mean, just look at what they did with Marluxia/Lauriam... who I’m also excluding from this statement on a technicality BECAUSE I don’t think he has any siblings besides Strelitzia). Kairi due to how little we know about her home life on Radiant Garden (IF her parents were still alive, then it’s possible they could’ve had another kid after their daughter was abducted or she had an older sibling that she doesn’t remember) and the Organization due to how little of their backstories we know. I’m sure even then, not all of them have siblings. Maybe add Terra and Aqua in, but that’s entirely dependent on the circumstances that Eraqus took them in under, which we currently know nothing about. I’m more iffy about the two of them, though, because making a probability call is entirely dependent of the ages that Eraqus actually took them in (if I’m remembering right, the earliest possible are 14 for Aqua and 16 for Terra, but at least Terra was probably a good deal younger just based on how close he is to Eraqus)

one time i ranked all the canon dragon age ships and now i’m going to do that for final fantasy (with the games i’ve beaten / gotten decently far into). major ships only
1. delita/ovelia. sorry. there’s only one romantic relationship in all of final fantasy i keep going back to and dissecting and creating content of. it is so extraordinarily compelling and emotional, i get more out of it every time i go back to FFT
2. aerith/cloud. ffvii remake kicked this directly into the second spot, good god i love those little guys, i liked them enough in the original but holy cow their banter & character writing was the best part of ffviir
3. fran/balthier. they’re a timeless classic and also i like that they’re in a preestablished relationship, they’re very subtle but sweet with each other, nobody else even comes remotely close to their level of communication. zoe called it “bisexual coworker energy,” yeah
4. fang/vanille. sorry to put the f/f so low, xiii is definitely not my favorite game of the bunch, but these two are certainly the highlight. they have some tropes i don’t care for, like the childhood friends angle, but i can’t rank the rare “canon” f/f any lower than my top 5 lol, i like them a lot.
5. zidane/garnet. nice take on the thief/princess story, i like it decently, they’re also relatively uncomplicated. i was more into it when i was a kid but there’s meatier stuff to sink my teeth into these days
6. tidus/yuna. they’re sweet like zidane/garnet but more complicated and tragic, i would like them more if i liked ffx more but i’ve never finished that one. as it is they’re still very solid
7. cloud/tifa. it’s just okay imo, i prefer to read tifa as a closeted lesbian or bi woman who is projecting fantasies of heterosexual heroism on her childhood friend that she has grown away from, but that’s not in the text at all so lol. i chafe with this one a bit since in general i’m not the biggest fan of childhood friends turned lovers (you guys have changed! change isn’t bad, and it’s okay to admit if you’re not right for each other anymore! also i literally cannot IMAGINE being with any of the people i crushed on in middle school, good grief), but there’s nothing strictly wrong with them and they have some sweet stuff. i think tifa just seems so unhappy looking after cloud and reckoning with the fact that he’s a different person now, whereas aerith’s entire thing across ffvii is accepting that cloud is who he is now--she likes cloud at first because he reminds her of zack, which is a static place, but realizes she wants to know who cloud actually is and wants to embrace change with him. “i want to know the real you” and all that. aerith and tifa both have this idealized image of cloud in their heads, but tifa sort of wants him to go back to who he was as a kid, and aerith wants him to move on and embrace the future, and all his fluid identities. “aerith talked about the future more than anyone.”
OKAY but whatever pitting aerith and tifa against each other is silly anyway, they’re both decent pairings it just depends on what you like in a narrative and what you think is emotionally cathartic. in sum they’re fine, just not my cup of tea. tifa should get with barret, or join cloud/aerith in a throuple, or tifa gets with barret AND they’re all four of them in a polycule. that’s what i think
8. locke/celes. they’re just okay as well, but i have fewer opinions on them than cloud/tifa so they’re lower on the list. they just don’t have a lot of like... chemistry? their arcs are emotionally intertwined, but their actual narratives don’t have a lot to do with each other outside of “i am attracted to you.” celes has more striking narrative parallels with terra (i was injected with this magic vs i was born with this magic, defected from the empire in different ways) and locke just straight up has more chemistry with his best bro edgar. the opera segment is classic, though
9. cecil/rosa. no opinion. they are married heterosexuals (or maybe they’re bi if you like cecil/kain). like sweet i guess but i never got invested in the ridiculous love triangle that comprises like half of kain’s motivations. you could hold a gun up to my head and i wouldn’t be able to name a single one of rosa’s character traits outside of “nice” and “white mage”
10. serah/snow. i will say this: snow being paired off with lightning’s younger sister meant that he, arguably the deuteragonist of xiii, would never be paired off with lightning herself, and that is a blessing. other than that they are boring. snow is a boring character and serah’s most interesting stuff is with her sister. idk about the xiii sequels but they killed serah off iirc so like okay.
11. squall/rinoa. Squall Is Dead Theory
12. zack/aerith. aerith i hate your stupid cop boyfriend, i hate their relationship in crisis core SO MUCH (fuck you squeenix he does NOT give her the idea to sell flowers, she has been living in the slums all her life you really think she wouldn’t come up with this herself?? nor does he give her her classic pink ribbon, we saw very clearly in ffvii that baby aerith had a pink ribbon in. die), i am really desperately hoping that if zack is alive in the remake she’s not auto-paired with him because that’s sort of the antithesis of what i like in media (what i like is: there is no such thing as one true love, love is an action as much as it is a feeling and you can choose who and what to love, sometimes it’s better to move on from the people you loved before because you have both changed as people). that doesn’t seem likely, i think they would try to keep the dating sim elements of the original (as they did in ffviir), but i’m just saying. i don’t even hate zack necessarily, i was emotionally invested in his character in crisis core, but i DESPISE their relationship.
13. mustadio/agrias. i know i wasn’t going to say minor characters but i had to put this in here because what the hell. of all the additions WotL made for tactics, this one was by far the most bizarre. they’re two of the gayest characters in a very gay cast, they have negative chemistry, you cannot convince me that either would find the other sexually attractive at all. THEY ARE GAY. LITERALLY WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING TALKING ABOUT SQUEENIX.

Hey! How you been? Can I get some uhhh tidus dating hcs? 😳 -aeron
Tumblr media
Ok tidus has so much chaotic crackhead energy dating him is like a fucking trip.
he had no filter when he's with you.
Him going to your closet and wearing your clothes “hey y/n does theses shorts make my ass look good?”
Speaking about ass his always taking about his saying thing like. “If you’re not gonna eat my grogonzola dippers than you’re not eating my ass!” or “you’re just jealous you don’t have a nice cake like mine”
Loves and needs cuddle time! Will toss whatever you have and snuggle up in your chest.
He’s the little spoon.
he always has to have his hands on you. wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head on yours is his favorite way.
him always taking bites of your food when you're not looking. and denying it was him.
