“elijah zegras, watch out!” you yelled at your nephew.

however, the young boy followed after his father. so he continued running, his footsteps and laughter reverberating through the training facility.

you should’ve looked where you were going instead of cursing the young boy because not long after your shout, did you bump into someone.

well, you tripped over your nephew into the arms of his father's teammate.

"are you okay?" the body asked.

although your body felt perfectly content staying within the confines of the man's arms, you knew you had to pull away from him. and so reluctantly, you pushed yourself away and gave a curt nod.

"uncle jimmy!" elijah yelled.

jamie bent down and picked up the young ball of energy, spinning the four-year-old. no one had to question who the boys father was seeing as he was a splitting image of trevor.

trevor showed up in the hallway not long after. "i heard some ruckus and I just had to check it out," he teased, going over to tickle his son's belly.

once he had shown his affection to his son, trevor turned to you and gave you a short hug. you enveloped your brother-in-law and assured him that it was no problem.

"aunt y/n/n, will i see you tomorrow?" your nephew asked.

you shrugged and bent down to his level "if your dad's paying then I'll see you, same time and same place." you answered. elijah thought about it for a bit and then nodded his head.

elijah gave you one last hug before he spotted one of alex killorn's children.

"thanks again y/n," trevor thanked.

you waved him off. "i love the little guy, plus I sat him. in front of the tv and he was good for an hour before he needed me which is surprising considering he's your kid," you poked fun at trevor.

"ha ha. very funny,"

you smiled at trevor and checked the time before heading off to your apartment and waving bye to his quiet teammate.

“who is that?” jamie asked immediately.

“y/n.”

jamie rolled his eyes at trevor “yeah i gathered that. i didn’t know you had another sister,” he admitted:

trevor burst out in laughter. the idea that the two of you were related was abysmal. although, he is married to your sister.

“nah that’s val’s sister,” trevor answered.

trevor then went on to explain that you were in your senior year of college and elijah had managed to guilt trip you into spending more time with him.

the next time jamie saw you was at elijah's fourth birthday.

he's spent the whole week building up the courage to talk to you.

but his hard work was crushed when he saw you wrapped in the arms of another man. a man who was way taller than him.

"who's the giant?" mason asked when he, jamie and trevor were together.

"y/n's asshole boyfriend," trevor answered.

"are you just saying that or is he really an asshole?" jamie asked.

"he's a good kid but he's so focused on basketball that sometimes he leaves y/n disappointed. like he forgot her birthday because he was watching film," trevor explained.

the two canadians grimaced. that never flies.

and so, jamie watched you the whole party as you laughed with your boyfriend. meanwhile, his heart clenched at the feeling of losing his chance.

jamie didn't see you again unless you attended a game. the interaction was so rare, that when you came up to speak to him one night, he was shocked.

but alas, that was the last time jamie saw you.

until valentines day.

jamie was oulled away from his guitar lesson by a rapid knock on his door.

"y/n?" he questioned.

out of all things he could've thought of. jamie never dreamt of you showing up at his apartment door on valentines day.

his shock was smothered when he saw the mascara running down your face. immediately, he let you in without another word and directed you towards his couch.

he offered you a cup of water and let you regain your composure before asking you what was wrong.

"he broke up with me."

"what?"

"my boyfriend. he broke up with me because I was too clingy which I think is utter bullshit because I let him do whatever he wanted." you spat.

among all the thoughts on why someone would cheat on a person like you. jamie only voiced out one.

“how do you know where i live?” he asked.

you finally looked at the boy and gave him a sheepish shrug of your shoulders. “z always left your address incase of an emergency when i look after eli. i guess i just learnt it cause this was the first place i came to,”

jamie pulled you gently into his chest and rubbed your hair.

“i’ll go grab some clothes for you to change into. you can sleep in my room,” he whispered, letting you go.

that night your dreams were filled of the blue eyed canadian downstairs as his scent filled your nostrils.

and jamie.

well his dreams were always filled with you and life that could be.

Takashi: Hey, world! How's it going? My name is Takashi Abbottsford, and I'm from Willow Creek. I'm sixteen years old, my birthday is August 13th, I'm a student at Willow Creek High, and I like pizza and energy drinks. Actually, my dads always say I probably don't need energy drinks, but hey... we can always use an extra boost, right?

Let's see... Other stuff about me... I love sports! I like snowboarding, rock climbing, soccer and swimming the best, and every time we visit my Papa's family in Mt. Komorebi, I always spend as much time as I can on the mountain. Shredding is life! Yeah!

Um, okay... My favourite colours are green and blue, and my favourite season is winter. I like video games and I like to cook. I also like dancing, like a lot, and I like rocking out to my favourite bands. I can play the piano too, although not as well as my brother Forest, which is a bummer because he won a medal at the youth music festival last year and I kinda messed up during a trio performance with two of my sisters, and of course Forest made fun of me about it. Siblings... ugh!

Yeah, so while we're on the subject of siblings, I should probably tell you about mine, and my two dads as well. My family falls squarely into the category of 'wild facts you could never make up', no joke.

We're a stupidly large family, just so you know. I'm the youngest of six siblings, and all six of us are science babies. My oldest siblings are Camellia and Forest, and they're twins. Next is Matsu, and then there's the triplets; Midori, Willow and me. Oh, and if you're wondering about why some of us have English-sounding names and some of us have Japanese names, it's because our Dad, Fox Abbottsford, is a Canadian and our Papa, Takahiro Suzuki, is Japanese. They met in Japan when Dad was there on a working holiday visa, and they have this absolutely crazy love story, but that's a tale for another time. The reason for our mixed bag of names is because they wanted us to have names that reflected both their cultures, so here we are.

Oh, and fun fact. Me, Matsu and Midori don't have middle names, which is part of Japanese naming tradition. Forest, Camellia and Willow do have middle names, and I don't know if I should be envious of that or grateful that I only had to learn how to spell two names instead of three when I was in first grade and we were all practising how to write them.

Right. Why did I sign up to be on Total Drama?

Hooo man... where do I even start with that? When you're one of six, 'total drama' is a way of life! I figured I'd be pretty good at it, because I'm used to chaos. I mean, 'chaos' should be our family motto or something.

Actually, let me tell you the real reason I signed up, besides the ongoing total drama in our household.

When you're one of six, there's this never-ending competition for attention, and this constant need to distinguish yourself from your brothers and sisters. Don't get me wrong. I love all my brothers and sisters, especially my older brother Matsu, but it's hard to be the youngest and the most unremarkable. I don't just have one shadow to live in. I have five.

For example, my absolute nerd of a brother Forest is like, this insanely gifted artist, just like Dad. Forest already has his illustrations in a children's book and he's only 18. Also, despite being Nerd Number One, he somehow managed to land the most popular girl at school as his girlfriend. Also, Forest's girlfriend Caroline is hot and she's a star athlete. Everybody's always talking about how great they are together. Like, how's a guy supposed to level up to that?

My other siblings all have their thing, too. My sister Camellia is good at acting, and Matsu is amazing at sports and the captain of the cheer squad. Midori and Willow are identical, which always gets them noticed just because, but also Midori is already planning her career as an aesthetician, and Willow is super-smart like Forest and wants to become an engineer.

As for me, I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I'm okay at most things, but not awesome like my siblings, and I don't have my future figured out like some of them do. I'm thinking maybe I'd like to be a police officer and work in something science-y like forensics, 'cause I really love science. Or I might like to be a journalist, 'cause I'm good at finding out stuff that people don't necessarily want me to know.

My dads keep telling me that being nosy isn't really a good thing, but I prefer to think of it as inquisitiveness. Anyway, I'd use my powers for good, so I think it's okay.

Everyone says I talk too much, so I should probably wrap this up so I don't annoy people too much. Kinda insecure about that, to be honest, but like... I can't help myself. Sometimes I feel awkward 'cause I don't know if I'm talking too much or not and I'm worried about what people might think. Like, 'Oh no, not that guy again. He can never shut up', or whatever.

Okay, that's it, I promise! I'm super pumped about this show, and I can't wait to meet everyone! Bring on the adventure and bring on the drama! Your boy Takashi is READY FOR IT! Woo!

Please know that since yesterday I am mentally trapped in these two panels. There is actually a lot I will miss Krakoa for, but I also felt a bit of resentment throughout the era and this family is a big reason why. NOW that we are in the last stretch of burning it all down and the new X-launch is in reach, we'll get this wedding special. And we finally have all four together in a panel. NOW?! I bought X-Men Unlimited #4 in either fall of '94 or spring '95, solely because of the cover. 30 years of waiting. Let me live in this moment for a bit.

Look at what they are doing with the art! Oh sure, Mystique and Nightcrawler are the blue ones. Pair up Destiny and Rogue next to that to make them look similar enough as well. Only for my brain to scream "but the personalities are the other way around!!!!!!!!". Irene and Kurt work on faith and believe in possibilities and reaching out to be better. Raven and Anna Marie typing this out makes me feel weird are the ones who will kill a bitch and say they will darken their soul so others don't have to. Plus there is the element that they both have lived more than one life and their sense of self is distorted .

They've come a long way, okay?!

Yes this is exactly what it looks like. For plot reasons Nightcrawler was too weak to teleport and dangling off a cliff next to Mystique. And of course Rogue could only save one and before she made a decision Mystique said "I make this for you" and let go. I still like to believe she flipped them the bird when she fell. Because she is Mystique. "HaHa! Take this, you think I'm the worst mother ever, but you will have to live with a moment of nobility from me!" (Also Destiny knew this would come, and she fucking knows there is something good inside of Mystique. It just comes out... different. And needs very specific circumstances.)

Apart from X-Men Evolution (and the X-Men Forever alternate history comic with its very special vibes), we have never gotten any bigger acknowledgement of this family. And Irene has been cut out. Either conveniently on account of being dead, or because she's an old lady and clearly just a gal pal, ahem. (It's also very funny to me to go back to their first appearances, where the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has the biggest Three Stooges energy ever. I needed Mystique, Destiny, Rogue, Pyro, Blob and Avalanche to have a drinking contest on Krakoa. That is what Krakoa was supposed to be about!! You needed to give us 200% domestic nonsense, fun and games. So it would hurt everybody when it was inevitably taken away. EVERYBODY needed to find happiness in that place in unconventional ways.)

Sadly not my original thought (I don't have those), but recently I read some comment where somebody said that with Irene being his bio-mother, Kurt should have inherited a type of precog-sense, a sorta spidey-sense for teleportation. A natural ability that he won't teleport into an obstacle. And I would be so on board with that. (Also funny, because Ms Marvel had that type of sense and I could pull up panels where Nightcrawler tried to trigger that in Rogue.) Would it be weird to add that now? Sure. But also super cute and helpful.

My deepest gratitude goes out to the fanartists who have doodled and sketched and painted cute family moments for them out of time. Now canon can catch up. Imagine their dinner conversations. N: "Logan is my best friend." M: "Oh, that reminds me there is this blue furball running around with his and my powers. I don't even remember if we ever had sex or not, we're so close in age and have these memory gaps." N: "Mutter, nein!" D: "You should ask him out, you two would make a cute couple. Trust me." R: "You're setting up Nightcrawler with Wolverine and keep giving me grief over Gambit?" M: "He speaks too much French! Wolverine might be Canadian, but at least he's not a Franco-Canadian!" N: "So I couldn't date Northstar?"

Do not get me wrong though. Mystique and Destiny are horrible people and they will stab others in the back. They have worked for the government, they have plotted assassinations of government people. They have fought alongside and against the X-Men. I don't want them tamed or be reasonable. I want their mess. I want them as anti-villains. Because they don't do heinous things for nothing. They like to create less horrible murder events than what could be... some writers just liked to go overboard with the scheming and forgot the sympathic undertones, which I want to cling to. And we deserved a time of peace on Krakoa. Truly imagine a Mystique who was happy on Krakoa. And the absolut batshit villainous energy when it's burned down against her will... now THAT would have been something. Instead of baking resentment into the foundation.

"Okay, Jack and Ms.Jackson-"

"Admin, you know you can just call me Shea, you've been around the NJD almost as long as I have," I can't help but interrupt, Jack at my side on the stools that the social media team set up for the purpose of this interview.

The girl a year or two older than J and I looks up from her notes with a blush, laughing quietly.

"Right, sorry Shea. So, let's start this again, Jack and Shea, thanks for sitting down with us today. The way we're going to run this is that Jack and you are going to ask each other questions that were submitted to our social medias. Sound good?"

"Sounds good," Jack nods on our behalf, us taking the cards we were given and handing me my own. "Ready Baby?"

"Born ready!"

"Hey you guys, it's Jack here-"

"With Shea!"

Jack laughs, unable to not at the little interruption and carries on, taking his girlfriend's hand in his own.

"Yeah you guys, my girlfriend Shea is with me and we're here doing a segment in honor of Pride Night at the Rock comin' up, so we're calling this Bi-conic, where I will ask Shea questions about being a bi-sexual wag."

"And I'm an open book, so let's get going with it!" she exclaims happily, clapping her hands, the love Jack has for his girl evident in his smile.

"Okay, first question," Jack begins, glancing over the card in his hand. "How do you identify?"

"I am proud to say I identify as a bisexual woman," She answers, nodding diffinitively.

"And what does that mean?" He knows what it means, but he also knows that there is a lot of confusion surrounding what it means to be bisexual.

"What it really means is that I feel romantic or sexual attraction towards both two genders, in my case, men and women," Is the explanation he is given, him nodding as a way to suggest she glance at her own cards.

"Has my attraction to women ever made you worry or feel jealous?" She reads, and the question one she had struggled with a lot at the start of their relationship.

"Not once," Jack responds, the hesitation in the near immediate answer. Looking to the camera, his eyes are less than impressed as he looks down the social media team. "That's like asking me is I ever was worried that my straight girlfriend would get with another man. But I know Shea would never, so I've never felt the need to be jealous."

And it makes her heart swell, knowing just how deep in him his trust of her goes.

"Okay, next is due you believe bi-wife/ bi-girlfriend energy is a real thing?" She asks, giggling before he can even answer because she knows she can be hyper from time to time.

"Absolutely," Is his answer, head tilted to the side in thought. "Although only like, half the time it's actual energy and the other half it's like, your vibe, you know? Like what our dates are themed as and how you dress," Is the elaboration offered.

"What do you think of becoming the face of the bi-sexual army that attends games at the Rock?"

"I think, no- I know, I'm honored to be a face these people can related themselves too. I think it's comforting for them to know there's someone like them keeping an eye out and pushing for a safe environment," She explains, smile larger than it's been the whole interview.

And he can't help but smile back before looking at the camera. "I remember it was last month against the Canadians that a little girl, maybe 13 came up to Shea while we were leaving and just gave her the biggest hug and thanked her for being so nice and such an inspiration," He explains, the memory making even the crew smile.

"I couldn't be prouder to be her boyfriend."

And with that the camera is off, we're being dismissed to go about our business, Jack to prepare for the game while I head to join the WAGs.

Jack pulls me to the side as we leave, placing a peck to my lips with so much love in his eyes the sheer power of it may make me cry.

"I love you and your bi-sexual powerhouse energy, you know that yeah?"

"You have never once let me question it," I assure, kissing his nose. "I love you too, now you have to get down to change up before Nico storms up here."

He laughs but nods, kissing me quickly before walking backwards, a cheeky look on his face as he does so until he turns quick, jogging off to the staircase down the hall.

And all I can think about is how much I love this man.

Long Distance

i got a request a while ago about long distance nate and i cant find it but here you go!

Things with Nate had always been easy. He was easy to read, spend time with, and to love. When you spend the majority of your teen life loving the same person things follow a routine. Practice, games, workouts, pregame naps, and post-game dinners. It was easy, and now thinking back it was too easy. 

Then suddenly, everything got complicated, extremely complicated. Nate got drafted, and he was leaving. You knew it was the best thing that ever happened to him, it was what he had dreamed of forever. And it was finally coming true. 

Nate stayed near you most of the night; he had carried a slight hint of regret or sadness since the draft hung heavy. His family threw a small party for the people that mattered most. The room that held the party was hot; the number of people and the excited energy suddenly suffocated. 

Kissing Nate on the cheek you wormed your way toward the door heading for the cold Canadian night. Wrapping your jacket around your body tighter, you found a planter out front to reside, the cold brick structure seeping through your jeans as you forced a few deep breaths. 

You sat long enough to start shivering, then the door opened and slammed closed. Lifting your head, Nate came around the corner; his hands pushed into his jeans pockets. 

“Hi superstar,” You smiled. 

“Why are you out here all alone?” He asked, seeming confused. “You know how cold you always are; what’re you doing?” 

“Just needed a break; it was kinda hot in there” You shrugged. 

Nate sniffled and nodded, moving to sit down, taking his hands from his pockets. 

“I’m super excited for you,” you smiled, bumping his shoulder. 

“I’m nervous” He hums, leaning into the bump just a little. “Denver is far,” he said.

You nodded leaning into him.

“I’ve heard it's a lot like home” You tried to soothe his nerves. 

“People keep saying that,” he sighed, pausing and breathing. “We’ll make this work, we always have” 

Nate left for Denver two days later

That was three years ago.

Just like Nate said, we made it work. It wasn't easy like the rest of our relationship had been but we did what we could. Sometimes your school schedule lined up nicely with his; other times, it didn't. Nate sent you a weekly schedule, practices, and games to make things easier. But it was starting to feel like the phone calls and texts weren't enough.

“Why don't you just go see him?” 

You sighed; that was easier said than done unless it wasn't. 

There was a three-hour time difference between you and Nate, as you were up late as a facetime call came through on my laptop. Pushing the suitcase to the floor to hide it, you sat at your desk, answering the call. 

“Hi, my love,” you smiled, leaning in just a little. 

He was at his desk, a gaming setup more than anything. He smiled, wide and soft and you took a deep breath. 

“Hi,” he said, looking at you. “How was class?”

“Long, and I have a stupid paper to write” you chuckled at the idea of complaining about a paper to a pro hockey player. 

Nate chuckled along with you shaking his head. 

“You’ll kick that paper's ass” He smiled, his eyes crinkling in the corners. 

“How was practice?” you asked, changing the subject, wanting to hear his voice. 

“It was good, we did a few new drills, and I’m sore. But EJ was messing with Gabe the whole time, so it was good.” 

“I can’t wait to meet this guy,” you laughed, shaking your head, thinking through all the stories Nate has shared. 

“He’s going to love you, Gabe, too.” 

“Baby, you think all of them will love me.” 

“That’s because they will” He pushed an eyebrow.

 You took a deep breath and took a second to take him in. 

“You okay, pretty girl?” He hummed, his voice lowering slightly. 

You rested your jaw on the heel of your hand, nodding. 

“What’s goin’ on in that head?” He leaned in, smirking. 

“Just missin’ you,” you whispered. 

Nate leaned back and took a deep breath; you gently sucked on your tongue, looking at him. 

“You know what I was thinking about last night?” 

“Huh?”

“You remember the first few months we were dating, and I would come over to do homework at your place, and we would be in your room, and your dad would just open the door and look at us, tell us he was “just making sure you kids don't need anything.” 

Nate imitated your dad perfectly, making you laugh out loud. He joined you in my laughter as we both leaded back in our chairs. 

“He used to do that all the time,” you choked out through your laughter. 

You and Nate kept laughing until it died, and you just looked at each other. You tilted your head to the side and looked at him, taking a deep breath.

“God, I miss you,” He crooned. 

“Nate” you whimpered. 

“I’m sorry baby, I just,” he stopped and breathed. “It’s been a long time, and I feel like it's my fault.” 

“Nathan, you are living your dream. That is never something you need to apologize for, especially not to me.”

He nodded and swallowed. 

The longer you and Nate talked, the deeper the pit in your stomach got; you physically missed him. Your body ached for his touch, just to hug him and feel him holding you.

“Okay, baby,” Nate breathed. “I have practice in the morning, so I should get to bed.” 

You nodded. 

“Oh hey, I forgot to tell you I’ll have my phone off for most of the day tomorrow. We have like a whole day of testing, and I won’t be able to talk much” You gave a tight smile. 

“Okay, sweetheart, I just have practice, then the game, so I’ll send you a text when I get home, and we’ll facetime for a bit. You're gonna kick ass tomorrow” He gave a shining smile.

“You too” You matched his smile and took a breath. “I’ll try to get back to catch some of the game.” 

“Don’t stress yourself out about it,” He tried. 

“I wanna see you play, so I’ll try, but if not, I can just ask you a million questions when you get home.” 

“Deal. I love you, sweet girl” Nates' smile was sad this time. 

“I love you, Nate” you felt yourself tearing up as he blew a kiss. You repeated his action, then hung up, the screen of your laptop showing your face in the camera. You sighed, pulling your knees to your chest. 

You needed to finish packing. 

It wasn't long before you were done; you were gone for two weeks, so you packed your favorite things, things Nate liked, then lastly packed up your laptop, charger, and other items of that nature. Then you went to bed. 

Your flight to Denver was at 1 pm, the dread of a 10+ hour travel day ahead was daunting. But knowing Nate was on the other side blissfully unaware was the best part of all of it. You took the train to the airport and checked in. The flight was seven hours, with a layover in Toronto; you texted a few people as you got through security, doing your best not to blow your surprise as you got on your plane and started the adventure. 

It turns out the Toronto airport is a great place to nap and by the time you landed in Denver, you were practically vibrating with excitement. The game was almost over, so you watched the last 10 minutes in the Uber to Nate’s condo. Thankfully the Avs won. You used the spare key on top of his door frame; you needed to talk to him about that and let yourself in. 

Just as you imagined, it was clean, like his place back home. You hid your bags in his bedroom and took a deep breath. As you paced the kitchen, your phone went off. 

“Hi squish, headed home now. Let me know when you can facetime.” 

You didn't answer or even open it, hoping he thought you were testing or just not home yet. You knew he didn't live far from the arena, and the more time that passed, the more nervous you got, waiting for the lock on the door to click. Your heart was racing leaning on the island in his kitchen. 

Finally, it happened. The lock on the front door clicked. You took a deep breath and heard Nate come in, whistling some song that was probably playing in the dressing room after the game. You swallowed and waited. Nate took a few seconds to come into view, wearing the burgundy suit he had sent you pictures of at the beginning of the season. You shifted, and Nate’s head snapped up, his eyes widening when he saw you. 

“Baby?” he asked, his bag dropping near his feet. 

“Hi, superstar” 

“You…” he trailed off, taking a few stumbling steps toward you.

“I’m really here” You smiled, walking around the island into Nate’s outstretched arms. He pulled you against him, tucking his face into your bare neck. You both started to sob, holding each other tighter than ever. Nate reached down, grabbing at the back of your thighs, pulling you off the ground, wrapping your legs around his hips so he could be that much closer. Nate started mumbling, “I love yous’” mixed with “I can’t believe you’re here,” pressing his soft, warm lips to your ear and neck repeatedly. You rubbed his back between his shoulders, feeling more of Nate’s tears dripping onto your skin. 

He eventually set you down, his face coming into view as his warm hands cupped your cheeks.

“Holy shit,” he breathed, leaning in, pressing his lips down on yours. “I can’t-can't believe you’re here” he smiled, kissing you again in a series of pecks. 

You smiled as Nate thumbed a few tears away, kissing you deeply.

“Hi baby,” you finally got out, smiling at him.

“How long are you here?” he asked, finally stepping away. 

“You have me for two weeks.” 

“Well goddamn, we’ve gotta make it count don't we.”

She's got sass and she's got class. Fem!Hanbin Pulls off all of Aespa's choreographies flawlessly.. but are you really surprised?

I think of this group as being quite sharp and clean in their choreo which goes well with Hanbin in my opinion???

I had 0 doubts here. Taerae would be a part of Stayc and I won't accept any debate on this

I don't know much about these girls just yet but their music! It slaps and I think his vibe would fit well with theirs

Fem!Ricky would enjoy doing a hip concept like Shhh. It's cool and fresh and she would be living for it

She's similar in age as well so I think they'd all get along quite easily as they understand each other better

Their choreo is sexy enough for fem!Ricky to make the fans swoon but not over-the-top to the point it feels awkward to her

She's that member who looks super intimidating because she's both pretty and so talented. We all know she's an absolute sweetie though

Oh how the members would dote on her as the new youngest. Fem!Gunwook gets the princess treatment, especially because of the age gap

Although he rocked Say My Name, I feel like fem!Yujin wouldn't want to have a cute concept all the time… every once in a while is enough

So she wouldn't want to be in a super cutesy group but not one that has overly sexy concepts either

Both she AND Eunchae get the maknae treatment, like I don't think having a new youngest member would change that

Seren's Studies: Odd Squad UK -- "Odd Ones In" Episode Followup, Part 5

Part 5, end of the line!

M' boy's an Investigation agent, finally! Though really, after seeing him in his Department of Help uniform for so long, it's jarring to see him in an Investigation department uniform. Something I'll have to get used to.

Either the girl thinks this is Blue's Clues and she can skidoo into that basket, or she wants to bring back all the Mystery Box idents PBS Kids had.

Could go either way. I won't get mad either way.

Okay, look, son, you can at least crack a smile. A bigger smile. I can't not smile at Orli's pure elated happiness. Pure Olympia energy.

"You used to run your own Odd Squad..."

I'M SORRY WHOT. PLAY THAT BACK BITCH???? HE WAS A DIRECTOR AT ONE POINT IN TIME????? THE FUCK KNOCKED HIM OUT OF THAT SHIT, OHLM AND HIS CRONIES?????

(In all seriousness, though, it's been so long that I forgot about the obligatory backstory-hinting that goes on in first episodes. Which means I'm due at the local Wallfart for some memory pills.)

Okay, so if I have this straight...Ozzie was a Director in the Management department at one point, but something with the Terrible Three made him quit and become the sole employee of Precinct 97531's Department of Help, which either is a fake department that doesn't exist or is a department that was created just for him by Captain O herself.

So here's my theory: the Terrible Three are agents that used to work under Ozzie, but turned evil for some reason or another and retaliated against him. He couldn't take it, and/or got beaten badly, and eventually quit.

If PBS had the decency to dump all the episodes on their video app, I could actually check that theory in the span of a few weeks when I get through the Seren's Study followups for the other episodes. But alas, I'll have to wait to see if it's true.

Either way, I like the unique direction they're going with for the story arc this time. Whether it's executed well in the span of 12 episodes is another story entirely. If you were there for the Olando disaster -- I still have nightmares, don'tcha know -- you might already have an idea of how this one's gonna go. But hey, things could change. Who knows. We got new writers this time around, presumably with more beefy resumes and more experience.

And maybe some weird infatuation with old age and pain. I mean I'm in my mid-20s, but if I had to flail and scream about my pain, no one in the fandom would hear the end of it and I'd be labeled the Fandom's Greatest Annoyance™.

Also of note: the tube animation for the credits got a hell of an upgrade as well. It's more prismatic now!

...Nope, I don't recognize this name. Though to be fair, like I said, there's a mix of British staff and Canadian staff here, so not recognizing some names is going to come with the territory.

Goodbye Christine Toye, hello Sally Campbell! I haven't really seen enough of her work to make a solid opinion yet, unfortunately.

And your music composers for this series/season! As I noted, Paul Buckley is no longer involved -- instead we have a whole team of composers, plus a person composing all of the songs in the series!

As much as I love Paul Buckley and his work (on both Odd Squad and Tiny Time Travel), this team definitely surpassed him by miles. The music is more dynamic, fitting the scenes appropriately and adding extra tension to scenes that show agents in combat against an oddity. Honestly, the music is one of the best parts of the entire series/season so far! Hoping that, if there's a Season 2/Season 5, they come back as composers. I need them.

...Huh. I take that back. Christine Toye is in the credits, credited for agent designs seen in past seasons.

Something something eligibility determined by how many British terms you drop. I dunno. Give me a bit to work something out.

Oh, I'm gonna make so many "UK tax credit" jokes throughout all these episodes, believe you me.

And that's it. Whoo, it's...wow. This is gonna be so disorganized...fuckin' 5:30 in the morning and everything.

But I'll give you my sleep-deprived thoughts anyway. Keep 'em for posterity. I'll keep 'em to show the doctor in 3 months at my next appointment.

So as I pointed out before, the audio balancing is a huge problem. I made note of it in my followup on the first gadget competition video, but apparently it's just as bad in future episodes as it was in this one. It might not be as noticeable if you play it on TV, but I have yet to test that out for myself, and even then, the TV I'll test on in question is from the late 2000s and on its way out speaker-wise.

But moving on from that: the pacing. It felt...a little all over the place at times. Not exactly rushed, but more like it's a ping-pong ball on a string. For 22 minutes, it could have been written to be smoother, but I do enjoy what we got and I'd say it's fairly better than "Odd Beginnings" and "Odd Off the Press" was.

As for the characters, I...don't have a good grip on them yet after one episode. I can sort of grasp their personalities, but not all too well. Ozzie, especially, was a worse offender -- I got that he was a helpful guy, but that sort of fizzled out after the first quarter. Maybe his tragic backstory might have had something to do with it, but I can't say for sure whether that's a factor in it or not. I do enjoy Onom, though. Onom supremacy. (With apologies to Manatsu Natsuumi and Komugi Inukai. I love you both too.)

With that being said...I'm tired, eyes need rest, and my entire body needs to sleep otherwise I will plop front of body on sidewalk while carrying garbage to curb and sleep on asphalt.

The plot was pretty solid for a season opener, though I'd enjoy if it were more epic in nature. Felt more like it was trying to copy the aesthetic of "First Day" but not quite working out in its favor.

Overall, it's already a lot better than the slop I was fed that was Season 3/Odd Squad Mobile Unit. And even when not comparing it to that, it's very enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing what silly antics these seven (and more) get into.

The next followup I will be doing is for "A Dish Served Odd", so I'll see you all around for that one. (Being an 11-minute episode, I'll know what I'm getting into with time. Hopefully.)

Tags were gonna cut me short, but the tags on my last reblog cut into the idea that I hate the way western english speakers are taught to behave when speaking.

And it doesn't matter where you're from if I'm being honest. I've heard it from anyone ranging from Americans to Canadians to even people from the UK and such, though admittedly it's primarily a Western, North America type thing from what I can tell.

The idea is that you're taking up my time with your answer, and attaching unnecessary emotional baggage I didn't ask for.

If I say "hey would you mind taking out the trash?"

and you say:

"Yea sure."

Great fantastic, done and done; stop wasting my time.

^ not my actual views mind you, this is just how we're taught to think in the western english speaking culture.

If you say instead:

"I'd literally rather do anything else, but yeah give me a minute and I'll get to it for you."

Suddenly you're complaining, you're making me feel guilty for asking; don't attach emotion to it!

^ Again, not my actual views. But how this sort of thing has been taken when I speak.

What you likely meant by those words:

"Yes I would mind, but I care enough about you to do things I mind doing if it makes you happy."

I've spoke to people from all over the world; and a lot of other countries don't sugarcoat things. I have been told repeatedly shit like "oh yeah our boss is from Russia, he's really blunt but he means well!"

only to meet the guy and by "blunt" they mean he'll just outright see me sick and say shit like "you're not well, you shouldn't be at work; go home this is no place for a sick person." In a very clearly (even to my autistic ass) concerned manner.

Only what he means is "you're forcing yourself to work while sick, not only is that not healthy; but if you are contagious you might get others sick. You should be home resting."

American managers have literally said "you okay? If you're sick go home or don't let anyone know."

^ The big thing here again comes back to you being an inconvenience for others.

North America as a whole is sort of just culturally like that in how we speak. I know a lot of people really latch onto this "americans are rude but Canada is a sweet little uwu bean who can't do anything wrong" and like nope lol absolutely not what are you talking about.

Regardless, this is just sort of a thing we do; we're not outright told this is why we're doing it, it's something I only picked up on likely because I'm really fucking autistic and I pay a lot of attention to what words mean rather than how words are said because of it. Tone inflection is really difficult for me; and it means I've had to always provide context and further explanation for my words. It also is hard for me to tell what other people mean when they say things unless I give it time and thought.

It's the same general reason we don't REALLY explain how we are when someone says "how's it going?" We have a culture of polite exchanges that specifically don't take up your time, attention, or energy.

I often see people talk about how "person from place" says something vs how like, Americans say shit. Which like yea, we're basically told not to speak more than absolutely necessary. Even going through school I was often told to condense sentences, find bigger words to replace multiple smaller words; say more with less.

If my friend asks me to hang out and I say:

"Sure what are you up for?"

That's fine, this is acceptable. It completely ignores the fact that I'm now unbeknownst to the asker; shifting my responsibilities around, I'm having to make time for them. Now in my brain if they don't do the same for me our friendship feels extremely one sided. It's suddenly a matter of "I make all this time to hang out, I bother to go out of my way for them all the time; and they can't do this one thing for me!?" But in reality, they have NO IDEA I'm doing that, because I am not explaining that.

If I however say instead,

"My friend, time spend with you is one of my life's greatest gifts. Allow me some time to finish my necessary things around the house and I should be able to spare a few hours tonight!"

This is weird, and suddenly it's too much. No one likes this apparently, I've made it weird.

But when someone from another country speaks that way it's okay in the eyes of a lot of people because "that's just how they talk there!"

The North Americas have no sense of unique individual identity on a person to person scale; at least not in how we speak. We're to explain ourselves with brand loyalty, with our wallets; what we play, what we drive, what we eat, what we wear.

But don't get me wrong, if any of those things are "wrong" you're weird for it. Ousted from any sense of community because you didn't abide by our need for a collective culture where THIS is good and THAT is bad, where THIS is acceptable and normal but THAT is wrong and weird.

Anyways I have a lot of thoughts but yea this sort of passed through my brain again.

OMG yes please seeing the gem that was Aden during thanksgiving and how jealous he was of a little bean who just wanted to be held by Clarke the baby sibling will be amazing. Is he gonna be jealous before the baby is here or after? Imagine him being jealous because the baby needs a diaper change or because the baby is crying or has tummy time or simply because their moms have to be attentive to the monitor. Even tho Aden will be older imagine him getting jealous because Clarke has to nurse the baby and Lexa give the baby a bottle. The struggle is real poor baby Aden. Wait what if her goes back to act like a baby to get attention 🥺 okay too many theories sorry I’m all over the place but I love this and I love how much you love this story. i'm not sure how the timeline is gonna work out yet, but say aden is about 8 or 9 when the new nugget comes home. he's old enough that he can understand everything his moms told him about how much attention his little sister —who really is just so tiny— needs in the beginning of her life and how that doesn't mean they love them any less.

it's one thing to understand the concept of it.

it's something else to see his clarkie reading him a bedtime story the stinky butt on her arms or his mom cooing while the baby makes dumb spit bubbles (he blows bigger and bigger bubblegum bubbles to show that his skills are better and it explodes on his hair. the amused scolding he gets as they lather his hair with olive oil isn't worth it). it's different to see both of them get up when there's even a smidge of a fuss and they're so tired they don't even have energy to do things with him.

they're around the kid every second of the day. and sure, they take him to little league and never miss a game, they have days at the park just like they had when he was small. his mom teaches him how to cook and he adds his own scrawling handwriting to the cookbook that has mom's and clarkie's handwriting too. clarkie teaches him how to play canadian football but she mixes up the rules with american football.

but the baby is always there too.

his solution? be more in love with his baby sister than anyone else put together.

he learns how to hold her and how to give her a bottle, although he draws the line at changing her diaper. tummy time becomes his drawing time so he's on his tummy beside her and he insists in pushing the stroller whenever they're at the park. he sneaks his food to her way sooner than clarke and lexa had planned, but they start a more solid foods when they see how much she enjoys sucking on the hunk of beef he gave her.

when she takes her first steps, it's towards aden she wobbles to.

it takes a moment. it takes a few months, actually. but after that, aden is so attached to his sister that there's no space in between them for him to feel any jealousy.

Even though sometimes he would be so annying and a menace towards you, but in the end of the day, he's still your little brother that cravings attention, love and cuddle. Huggy bug if I must say. He loves to hug you a lot.

Smart, wise, calm cute and shy boy. You might thinking that he's matured enough for his age. His personality is just too cute to handle but his mind always blow your mind. The way he thinks is just beyond everyone on his age.

As your little brother he would suggest you some books to read because he thinks at least you had to read a book other than just crying over your boyfriend cheating on you.

Always know how to solve the problem, rather than he looking for you to give him some advice to the problem he had, it would be you who always looking for him everytime you facing a problem.

Helping you to calm down when you had anxiety or just panicking over something. For example when you broke up with your bf. "Listen Nuna, it's okay to not be okay.. don't worry about that.. You're pretty, cute and precious for me and our family. Your life is matter, just believe that one day you will get someone better than him, okay? He just don't deserve such an angel like you.." *stroking your back lightly while whispering those*

How he wake you up? He would just go straight knocking your door at least 3 times in the morning. "Nuna.. wake up. It's morning already.. Huh? Five more minutes? Okay then." And man would just left your door acted liked nothing happened.

When you struggling to use a toaster, he would come ups to you and help you. "Nuna, I think you didn't using it right, here.. Ah, there you go. Feel much better and easier, right?"

He even would love to help you with your homework if you asked him to.

Weekend with him would be just chilling in the living room while reading books and a cup of tea. Or just having fun in the park with your dogs.

Always reminds you to eat your vitamin daily. "Nuna... Don't forget to eat your vitamins, okay? I don't want Nuna get sick." *Bringing your vitamin and a glass of water in front of you*

Always asked you to dress properly and don't using something that's too short for you. "Nuna, I know that you look pretty and cute, but it's just too short isn't it? You might catch a cold, here.. use my jacket instead okay?" *Proceeds to using his jacket on you*

Pt. 2: Life Series Post Apoc AU

[Etho-centric AU with characters from the life series/ 3rd life/ last life/ double life/ lim life (and possibly HC). I hope you enjoy! :) ]

Context: life-series characters were all in university/college/recently graduated in Canada when the apocalypse happened. Now they try to survive together.

Pt. 1

“Did you find anything good?”

The warm glow of the fire washed over us as we entered the base, Scott securing the door behind us. Jimmy looked at us expectantly from the chair near the fire where he was polishing his sword.

“Well.” Pearl shifted her backpack to the floor and began unwrapping her layers of frozen clothing. “I ‘spose that depends on what you define as good.”

“How far did you go?” Scott asked, helping me untether my crossbow from my harness. “It’s getting dark; I was worried.”

Pearl glanced at her watch. “It’s only 3PM! Stupid Canadian winters with their early sunset and snow.”

“It’s the price you pay for long summer days,” I noted. “We walked about 10 kilometers east-”

“North-east,” Pearl corrected.

“.... okay, north-east. As far as the town over the mountain. Most places have been looted, but we found a few useful things.”

Pearl pulled a yellow sweater out of her bag and tossed it to Jimmy. “Here, Jim; it’s your color.”

“Ah, sweet!”

“Find anything for the Forge?” Tango appeared in the doorway holding a screwdriver.

The Forge was what we called our workshop, the place where us engineers created and maintained the technology that allowed us to survive. Our ongoing project was Scar’s wheelchair, but the most pressing current issue was power. We had relied on a gas-powered generator until recently, when gas had become more difficult to find. Since then, Tango, Impulse, BigB, Mumbo, and I had switched our focus to alternate energy sources.

“No gas for the generator, unfortunately. But we found a few other things on your list.” I handed him a bag of nails. “I know it’s not exactly what we need for the waterwheel -”

Tango sighed. “We’ll work with what we have. We could really use some fresh timber, though; I’d love to have this wheel finished before the ice thaws in the creek.”

“Tango, even if they found timber, It’s not like they could even carry it all the way home,” Jimmy noted astutely. “Lugging huge slabs of wood 10 kilometers through the snow? No thank you.”

Pearl and I exchanged glaces. “Actually, we may have a solution for that.”

“What?” Jimmy set his sword to the side, instantly intrigued.

“It will take some time to set up...”

“What will? What is it?”

“... but, with some patience, we should be able to make it work.”

“Oh come on, guys! What is it? What did you find?”

There was a spark in Pearl’s eye as she paused, building anticipation. “Horses.”

Jimmy, Tango, and Scott stared at her. “Horses? Like, wild horses?”

“They let us get pretty close,” I said. “I think they were domesticated at one point, and they’ve learned to survive on their own. We just need to re-tame them.”

“Did you tell Bdubs about this?” Scott asked. “He’ll be ecstatic!”

“I’ll tell him when he wakes up.” [I knew Bdubs was already asleep - somehow his biological clock corresponded perfectly with the rising and setting of the sun. We could fairly accurately predict what time the sun rose based on when Bdubs was awake.] “I know taming horses is a difficult task, but -”

“When has that stopped us before?” Tango grinned. “If we can create an intruder detection system, we can definitely tame some horses.”

“Yeah!” Jimmy chimed in enthusiastically. “We’ll have a whole posse by the time we’re done! Canadian cowboys!”

Pearl chuckled. “I guess we know what we’re doing tomorrow.” She bent down to unpack the rest of her bag. “I found some rope that could be useful, and we should probably design a stable….” Her face wrinkled in confusion as she pulled a large box out of her bag. “Etho, did you put a book in here?”

“.... yes.”

“That’s why my bag was so heavy!” Pearl shifted the box onto the floor and shot me a reproachful glace. “Why didn’t you carry it?”

“Well, I thought we were sharing. And we had space.”

“What book is it, anyway?” Scott asked, peaking curiously over Pearl’s shoulder as she opened the box. “The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne. That’s the guy who wrote 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

“It’s a sequel, sort of,” I explained. “It was one of my favorite books as a kid.”

“You couldn’t have picked a favorite book that was smaller? And paperback?” Pearl complained, but I knew she was as happy as I was to have some sort of entertainment on these cold winter nights.

“At the very least, it’s a decent amount of kindling for the fire,” Jimmy teased.

“I think it might be useful in other ways, actually.”

“How so?”

“It’s a story of a group of soldiers who are marooned on an island,” I explained. “They built a settlement to survive.”

“Published in 1875?” Scott flipped through the first few pages. “Are you sure this will be useful?”

“The technology they had then is pretty similar to what we’re confined to now. They had to create their own forge, smithy, and brickworks, and they even wired a telegraph system.”

“Hmm.” Tango peered at the book through his red-rimmed glasses. “Sounds inspirational.”

“It’s what inspired me to study engineering.”

“Well, I’m sure it will be a great read.” Scott gently placed the book on the mantle. “Let’s get these things put away, fix some supper, and then start the first chapter.”

“Sounds like a plan!”

I glanced at the book, half-illuminated by flickering flames, as I pulled more supplies out of my pack. There was another reason why I kept it. The story wasn’t just about a group of friends fighting for survival - it was about a mysterious island. There was a presence on the island, a hand behind the scenes, a force powerful and unknown to the settlers. A presence all too familiar to our own settlement.

There was anticipation in the air. I noticed it in the way Tilly - Pearl’s dog - growled at the whispering wind at night, the way there happened to be a medieval weapons museum in a nearby town, the way we had found more medical supplies in the past week than in the past year, the way the herd of horses had wandered into our territory. The way we hadn’t seen a single person since we had escaped to my grandfather’s cabin. The way our entire friend group had survived the apocalypse.

Maybe I was being paranoid, my traumatized brain picking out all the patterns it could find. It was a bit ridiculous to think that there might be a higher power manipulating our circumstances, but I had gained the skill of open-mindedness over the past few years, and nothing much could surprise me after what my friends and I had experienced. I didn’t know what lay in our future. I just knew that whatever happened, we needed to be prepared for what was coming.

Okay oc lore time

Jonny Quest the real adventures and the direct to video scooby movies takes place in the same universe. Myra is friends with the Quest Kids and Jessie Bannon.

Reboot (the cgi cartoon from 1994) also takes place in the same universe; Mainframe can access QuestWorld. Race Bannon flirted with Hexidecimal much to the horror of everyone else.

Swat Kats take place on another planet (nearly canonized in a scrapped ending for one of the episodes). I have a SK OC who works as the Kats' mission control/backup member.

Beau is a government agent who got cursed by the evil werecats; after their defeat died he was cured but had to send all his findings to the Quests so they can help the victims' families find closure. He then goes on to be an informant for various super teams.

Skysurfers also exists because that show was made by the same creators of Scooby Doo; Jack Hollister's father used to be lab partners with Dr. Quest.

Acceleracers takes place in the same universe due to being made by the same folks who made Reboot (being Canadian productions irl).

Mainframe and Cyberspace (of Cyberchase fame) may be linked, technically considers Mainframe a Site.

Gen 13 (mix of comics & the animated film) is set in the same verse. Unlike the movies Matthew Callahan doesn't die but remains under the custody of John Lynch; also he doesn't rejoin Ivana as he did in the comics. Also, unlike the comics Gen 13 actually has 13 members. They rotate time from time. Matthew is forced to be a part to undo the damage he caused working as Ivana's underling. Caitlyn is not his sister, his siblings are Sarah and Nicole as in the comics. Cait and Roxy are half sibs.

Im not sure if I want TFA in the same verse but for the sake of it yes; the year is current but still with the theme of Detroit rebuilding, to go along with Animated's theme of redemption

Jackie Chan Adventures are set in same verse as the 2006 legion of superheroes, the 03 Teen Titans, Xiaolin Showdown, and 2004 Batman.

GI Joe Sigma Six is set in the same verse as TFA.

GI Joe Renegades and Transformers Prime are set in the same verse detached from Sigma Six and TFA.

Universal's Monster Force is set in same verse as JQTRA and Scooby Doo

The 2000s Mummy and Tintin take place in the past; 1930s at the earliest. Bayformers and the live action Joes take place in that timeline's future.

Mummies Alive take place in San Fran and likely set in the future of the Mummy cartoon. It also takes place in the same verse as the 90s King Kong & Godzilla cartoons.

My Descendants rewrite takes place in a world where the heroes never agreed to send villains on the Isle. Instead the isle is simply a mysterious place said to harbor riches beyond legend.

Gargoyles, Atlantis, The Mighty Ducks cartoon, BLOSC, and OUAT takes place in the same verse. BLOSC is set in space and has a ranger from the same planet the Swat Kats come from

Osmosis Jones is in its own solar system based on organic body parts. Its "star" pulses like a heart beat. Sorry but I hate Bill Murray.

Loonatics Unleashed takes place in the same time period of the regular looney tunes; instead of being descendants theyre distant cousins. Acmetropolis is a mega city using Sumdac Tech

Zadavia comes from a planet English translaters describe as Freleng. The common export is energy crystals and its rocky deserts is a haven for geologists and unlucky miners everywhere

The civil war was sparked by General Deuce and Optimatus's betrayal
