Imagine
Imagine you are offered an exciting, well-paid job with an up and coming spirits business, whose owner you happened to sympathize with at a work event. Imagine you really invest yourself in that job and you are so enthusiastic about it, that you even put your own business network to service. Imagine you start seeing the first results of your efforts.
Then imagine that the owner you happened to sympathize with (and who probably recruited you) has a teeny-tiny problem, the amplitude of which was absolutely impossible for you to grasp. He is also an actor and, as many actors who are actively involved in successful cinema/TV productions, he has a fandom. Some things may have been mentioned to you, such as the abusive behavior of 'some' fans - but you really had no idea and you were way too excited to make this new job opportunity work for you. You definitely didn't take any warnings too seriously: you know that series has some sort of cult-ish status and that actor is many ageing women's secret fantasy, all around the world. You probably even think it's definitely corny, but overall these ladies seem harmless enough - plus they seem to show up in droves and buy in bulk, everywhere he goes. You are way too focused on your job to notice any misconduct: you dismiss it with a laugh.
And then, someone, somewhere decides it is your turn. You have excitedly posted a snapshot of a rugby match you have been invited to by the owner of the up and coming spirits company, who happens to have an excellent relationship with the local, prestigious club and is a rugby fan himself. You are over the moon to be a part of an event that allows you to better discern the new type of customers the business hopes to attract, in the foreseeable future. You enjoy the wonderful camaraderie in the galleries: you had no idea about what rugby means to so many different people, wow!
You are, therefore, very surprised to find out some women already started to claim on the Internet you and your boss are an item. This is completely nuts: courtship seldom involves attending a rugby match, in Europe - that much you know. You begin to receive nasty, insinuating DMs on your Instagram page. You perhaps remember one of your boss's friends, a young disabled artist, has very recently been harassed by his fans and had to call the police, in order to make it stop. You decide the best thing you could do is to erase the rugby match pic: too late, it has already been screen capped, shared and discussed. This is how you also find out that some of those women think you have an agenda, that you plan to seduce your boss and that you are, at any rate, a lousy wannabe in the business world and a highly functioning alcoholic, to boot. The ones claiming so are either pretending to be experts or to have SOURCES, based on FACTS. This is beyond your understanding. You may even have a mild panic attack and you definitely feel all of this is: a) ridiculous; b) unfair and c) potentially dangerous.
Most of the women who called you out have no idea about what happens at a rugby match. They are that kind of older people who still think geishas are prostitutes, for example, because they lack proper education. They have no direct experience of the business world, let alone the spirits business world. No real facts and no logical arguments are ever presented to seriously discuss your efforts, but many smearing accusations are being written down, with full confidence. All they know is that they don't like you, because you somehow failed to comply with their own, twisted version of reality. In their books, your boss is either a closeted gay man or a lewd womanizer, with a dirty penchant for whores. This would normally make you grin, but today you're just not in that mood.
Today's your turn.

“Off Track” - pt 6 Franco x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: As Y/N’s guilt grows heavier, her attempts to balance her feelings for both Lewis and Franco spiral out of control. A tense encounter at the Vegas circuit leaves Lewis suspicious and possessive, while Franco’s presence only fuels the fire.
It had been a few days since I last texted Franco. I’d been avoiding it on purpose, partly to manage my own guilt, partly because I knew I was slipping into dangerous territory. The guilt sat heavy in my chest, mingling with confusion and that thrill I couldn’t shake. What kind of person was I, cheating on Lewis—Lewis, of all people? He was one of the most accomplished, disciplined, and admired men on the planet, and he loved me. And yet… I couldn’t get Franco out of my mind.
He’d texted me a few times, little messages that I hadn’t replied to.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“Are you okay?”
“Look, if I did something wrong, please tell me.”
Each time, I’d felt a pang of guilt, tempted to reply but holding back. I knew Franco hadn’t done anything wrong; it was me who was tangled in my own emotions, who couldn’t let go of this secret, forbidden connection we shared.
Now, here I was in Vegas for race week, a city that hummed with energy and excitement. It was the perfect distraction, the perfect place to bury all my complicated feelings. Lewis had us checked into an opulent hotel suite, and I’d been surprised by how affectionate he’d been, almost overwhelming me with his attention. So much sex, intimacy, so many moments where he seemed to be trying to rekindle whatever spark he felt was slipping between us. And as much as I tried to reciprocate, part of me couldn’t stop thinking about Franco.
Today was Thursday, the calm before the chaos, with only the drivers and team members milling around the circuit before the crowds arrived. I found myself in the Mercedes hospitality area, chatting with a couple of women from the media, trying to keep up with the light conversation while sipping on my cappuccino. It was nice, a little taste of normalcy amidst all the jet-setting and high-stakes events that had come to define my life.
Then, my phone buzzed.
I glanced down, trying to hide my reaction as my stomach flipped with excitement. Franco.
“Hermosa, please tell me you are here?”
A smile crept onto my face, and I felt a blush rise to my cheeks. What’s wrong with me? I scolded myself, forcing myself to stay composed with the others around. But I couldn’t resist. I quickly typed back.
“Yes, I am.”
His reply was almost instant.
“Where are you? Can we talk?”
I looked around, subtly checking my surroundings as I felt my heart beat faster. Could I really slip away? The thrill of it all bubbled up again, pushing aside the guilt. I responded without thinking.
“Yes. I can come to you. Where are you?”
“I’m in my driver’s room.”
“Okay, I’ll be there soon.” I hit send, tucking my phone away as I stood up, trying to keep my expression neutral.
“I’ll be back in a bit,” I said to the girls. They nodded, barely noticing as they continued their conversation.
I made my way out of the Mercedes area, a slight skip in my step as I imagined seeing him again. It was ridiculous, the way he could make me feel like a schoolgirl with a crush, completely giddy and oblivious to the world around me. I turned a corner, lost in thought, and nearly collided with a solid wall of muscle—Lewis.
“Oh… sorry,” I stammered, slightly taken aback.
He gave me a curious look, his gaze sweeping over me, taking in the cheerfulness I couldn’t quite hide. “It’s okay, angel,” he said, smiling, though there was something searching in his eyes. “You just can’t get enough of me, huh?”
I forced a laugh, trying to sound casual, and started to step around him, but he turned, keeping pace with me. “Where are you going?” he asked, his tone light, but with a hint of something else underneath. “I was just coming to get you, silly.”
“Oh?” I said, slowing my pace, my mind racing as I tried to come up with an excuse. How am I going to get out of this?
“Yes,” he teased, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as he started steering me in the opposite direction of Franco’s driver’s room. “I wanted some special Y/N time.”
I groaned softly. “Lewis… I wanted to go—”
“Go? Do what?” He stopped, turning to look at me with a raised eyebrow, his eyes narrowing slightly.
I felt my mind go blank. Think of something. “I was going to… like… you know… say hi to everyone.” The words came out awkwardly, and I mentally cringed. That’s what I came up with?
He tilted his head, his expression a mixture of amusement and suspicion. “Everyone? Who’s ‘everyone’?” he asked, sounding a little annoyed. “You don’t need to.”
I bit my lip, trying to think of a way to recover. “I was just going to say hi to Franco really quick.” The words slipped out before I could stop them, and I immediately regretted it.
“Franco?” he repeated, his tone tinged with confusion, as though he couldn’t fathom why I’d want to see him.
“Babe… Franco can wait,” he said firmly, tugging me gently down the hall toward his driver’s room.
“But—” I began, only to be interrupted by Toto, who approached us from the other end of the hallway.
“Y/N, keeping Lewis happy I see. Thank you,” Toto joked, giving me a friendly smile.
I laughed lightly, thankful for the distraction.
“Lewis, I need to talk to you quickly,” Toto said, nodding to him.
Lewis hesitated, glancing back at me with a look that was equal parts irritation and suspicion. “I’ll text you when I’m done, okay?” he said, his tone softening as he turned to follow Toto.
I let out a small sigh of relief as I watched them walk away. Thank you, Toto, I thought to myself, grateful for the chance to slip away unnoticed. I quickly made my way to the Williams area, feeling a giddy excitement bubbling up once again.
The moment he was out of sight, a smile crept back onto my face. I headed down the pit lane, practically floating as I made my way towards Franco’s driver’s room. When I reached his door, I paused, glancing around to make sure no one was watching. I knocked softly, my heart pounding.
A few mechanics looked in my direction, quickly averting their gaze, and a pang of paranoia shot through me. What if people start talking? What if Lewis hears about this? But before I could worry further, the door opened, and Franco stood there.
Franco’s face lit up, his hair slightly messy, his eyes sparkling with that familiar mischief. “You’re very late,” he teased, his accent making the words sound softer, more inviting.
“Sorry…” I murmured, smiling shyly as I looked at him, at the lips I’d been dying to kiss.
“Come on, hermosa,” he whispered, taking my hand and pulling me inside, gently closing the door behind us.
I sat down on the couch, trying to control the smile that was threatening to break across my face. Franco watched me, his arms crossed, a playful smirk on his lips.
“You look happy to see me,” he said, mock-scolding. “Even though you haven’t texted me back.”
“I’m sorry… I just… I didn’t…” I stammered, not wanting to mention Lewis.
“It’s okay. I understand,” he said softly, sitting beside me, his tone forgiving.
We locked eyes, the tension between us thick and undeniable. He reached up, gently brushing a strand of hair from my face, his fingers lingering a bit longer than necessary.
“Te ves muy hermosa hoy,” he murmured, his voice low and warm, his gaze holding mine.
I smiled, unable to help the blush creeping up my cheeks. “Thank you… you look beautiful too,” I teased.
He chuckled, his face warming slightly, and we fell into easy conversation, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. After a few minutes, I found myself confiding in him about my argument with Lewis, the way he’d thrown things in my face that made me feel small, undeserving.
Franco listened, his face soft with understanding, but there was a flicker of something else—something like disappointment, as if he were seeing his idol in a different light. He offered sweet, reassuring words, but I could tell that he was quietly hurt to hear about that side of Lewis.
To lighten the mood, he pulled out his laptop, showing me some silly concepts for his race helmet. We laughed together, pointing out the ridiculous designs, and for a moment, I forgot about everything else. But just as I was starting to relax, the door swung open.
It was Lewis.
He stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over us, taking in the sight of us laughing together on the couch. There was a tension in his posture, an edge to his expression that made my heart race with anxiety.
“Lewis, you should see this,” Franco said quickly, turning his laptop around to show him the designs. Franco’s quick thinking saved us, but I could feel Lewis’s eyes on me, studying me, suspicion lurking beneath the surface.
He forced a laugh, though it sounded hollow. “That’s… interesting, I guess. Sure, do it,” he said to Franco, his tone dismissive. But his gaze remained fixed on me, a silent accusation in the intensity of his stare.
Franco, bless him, kept his cool, despite the subtle shift in Lewis’s mood. “Thanks, Lewis. I think I will,” he said, managing a casual smile. But I could feel the discomfort radiating from him, the tension that now crackled between the three of us, like a storm waiting to break.
Finally, Lewis turned his attention back to me, and his voice softened, but it didn’t feel kind. “You hungry, sweetheart?” His words dripped with an exaggerated sweetness, an extra layer of endearment that made me feel even more anxious. It was almost patronizing.
I nodded, barely able to meet his gaze as I stood up, feeling Franco’s eyes on me, almost as if he was silently getting annoyed at Lewis.
Lewis motioned toward the door, his hand resting at the small of my back, guiding me out with a possessive grip that felt more like a statement than affection. “Then let’s get you something to eat, my love,” he said, his tone gentle but laced with something darker, as though he were challenging me to argue.
As soon as the door clicked shut behind us, his arm slipped around my waist, pulling me closer. His grip was firmer than usual, his fingers pressing into my side as we walked down the hall.
“I thought I told you to wait in my driver’s room?” he murmured, his voice low, a hint of accusation creeping into his tone.
I swallowed, my stomach twisting with anxiety. “No? You just said you’d text me when you were done…” My voice came out softer than I intended, almost hesitant.
His eyes narrowed, a flicker of irritation crossing his face. “Fine. But… what the hell was that all about?” His voice was sharp, cutting through the air between us like a knife.
“What?” I asked, forcing myself to keep my expression innocent, though my heart was pounding.
He looked at me, his gaze piercing, as though he were trying to see straight through me. “Don’t ‘what’ me, Y/N. You, sitting there laughing with Franco? Acting all… giggly?.”
I could feel my heart racing, panic clawing at my chest as I tried to think of a way to diffuse the tension. What am I supposed to say? “He just wanted to show me his helmet designs,” I stammered, shrugging as if it were nothing, forcing a casual tone that didn’t quite feel natural.
Lewis’s stare didn’t waver, his gaze intense as he tried to read every flicker of my expression. “Just don’t be in a room alone with him again,” he said, his voice firm, leaving no room for debate. It wasn’t a request; it was an order.
His arm tightened around me as we walked toward the Mercedes hospitality area, his grip almost possessive, like he was staking his claim. I could feel the tension rolling off him, the unspoken accusations simmering just beneath the surface. I could barely breathe under the weight of it, the silent message he was sending with every firm step he took.
Oh god… what am I going to do?
Next time …..

Can you offer me a nice shirt in this trying time?
Summary: The usual shenanigans leave you with an unwearable shirt. All you can do is ask your friend (?) for help.
Characters: Leona, Jade, Epel, Malleus and GN!Reader (separate, platonic adjacent...?)
Warnings: mentions of anxiety and mild panic over the dirty shirt
By opening the document, you agree to Mx Tattly's terms of source confidentiality.

Looking at your pathetic expression akin to a kicked puppy while you tried to cover your dirty shirt made Leona burst into laughter, even after you just stepped on his tail
You looked away, flustered, not even wanting to recount the embarassing turn of events that just happened
But you didn't need to; Leona heard it all
He heard you from the other side of the botanical gardens talking with your friends, who started bickering with each other
Things got a bit physical in a playful way, but none of you really expected to shove each other so hard you all crumbled to the ground like a ridiculous domino
And the only thing you could be glad for was that you missed the pile of compost nearby
And now you were in front of him as he quite enjoyed your flustered state
"I wanted to apologise for stepping on your tail, you know. But I changed my mind."
Leona's laughter turned into snickering as he wiped nonexistent tears away from his eyes
"If you don't want me to laugh, then stop acting like a clown."
You stomped your foot, which made Leona look at you
"This is serious! I have no other clean shirt and class is going to start soon. So you can either help me or give me an idea or leave me alone."
Something in Leona's eyes changed at your words: his mocking aura went away slightly, and you could almost hear what he was thinking
Still thinking about class after being dragged in dirt? Damn goody-two-shoes.
"Alright, I'm doing this just this once. But if I catch you play in dirt again, you're on your own, you damn warthog."
Leona put a hand in his pocket, then tapped his foot
To your surprise, the dirt started vanishing from your outfit right away
All you could do was stare at Leona, mouth agape
And he stared right back at you
Until his smile turned into a frown in a secons
"What are you waiting for, a kiss on the cheek? Just go to your class already."
You just frantically nodded and scurried away from him
...just to return a few seconds later and leave, in fact, a kiss on his cheek
He just stared at you while you awaited any kind of reaction beside his resting tired face
"...Forget what I said about not helping you. Next time I'll shove you into dirt myself."
That reaction seemed to satisfy you enough, as you took your leave right after his threat

Working at the Mostro Lounge had its ups and downs
Ups: the job is on campus, the place is always looking for workers and it's one of the best paying jobs on campus
Downs: one of your coworkers is Jade, and the other is Floyd
They'd be relatively nice coworkers if they didn't take their sweet time with helping you while enjoying every second of suffering from all living creatures
Like they did when you tripped on your way to a client and spilled the drink on yourself
They just watched for a few seconds how you panicked over the dirty shirt and the irritated customer
Jade came and dragged you away a few seconds too late for your liking while Floyd started on another drink against his will
You had no idea why Jade led you to the Lounge's changing room, but his smile did not calm you down at all
After all, Jade was very talented at everything except of being reassuring
He left you on your own for a few seconds, coming back with a new uniform shirt, which he handed to you
"This is a replacement for your dirty shirt. Please get changed so you can resume your duties."
You stared at Jade suspiciously
Was he handing you a shirt just like that?
He accepted your silent confusion for a few more seconds before his smile widened, showing his teeth
"What is the problem, Reader? Perhaps you require my assistance with getting changed?"
No matter how hard you frowned at him, the blush was not making your disdain too effective
"What? No! That's not it!"
"...So you're saying you would not refuse my services if that were to be the case?"
"I- no! Ugh!"
Even while you hid your face in the shirt you knew he was still giving you that annoying grin
"You're saying I can just change into this? Without any payment or punishment?"
Jade gasped and put a hand over his chest, feigning offense
"What an incredulous accusation, Reader. I can assure you that no consequences will follow you needing another shirt for the remainder of your shift."
"..."
"..."
"...Are you sure?"
"Certainly."
You knew better than to trust any of the tweels, but you supposed you'll cross that bridge when you got to it
Besides, being MIA on your shift might make Azul take thaumarks out of your paycheck, and you didn't need to manifest that kind of outcome
"Fine, I'll take it. Please leave so I can change."
"As you wish."
So he left you in the empty changing room, a hint of a blush still on your face
You knew getting revenge on any student at NRC was a bad idea, but you couldn't help but imagine "accidentally" spilling some cherry juice on Jade's dorm uniform

Cleaning duty in the library was not fun, but at least Epel knew how to make things entertaining
He wasn't a comedian or anything like that, but his Vil-themed tirades were always animated and gossipy enough that they had you hooked on his every word
Or every word that you could understand, at least
And a complaining storytelling Epel is not the most careful Epel
So you were not too surprised when he spilled some ink on your sleeves
"Hey, my shirt! You spilled ink on me!"
Epel noticed the big stains and his eyes widened
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"
"What am I gonna do?! I have no clean laundry today!"
While you were frantically pacing around, Epel was staring at the floor, not being able to meet your eyes
"Hey, come on... It's not that bad. See, it's just a small stain!"
The death glare you threw his way rivaled Vil's, and Epel took a step back instinctively
"Okay, okay! I get it, let me think..."
A few seconds of contemplation later, Epel went to the window and looked outside
"Hey, Vil is having a club meeting outside right now. He must have a stain stick or a spell or something."
"What about cleaning duty?"
"Just go deal with your shirt and come back when it's clean. I'll put away all the old ink in the meantime."
After Epel's convincing, you relented
But now you had the perfect opportunity to show off your newly aquired NRC thirst for revenge...
Let's just say that Vil was very thankful you told him about Epel's attitude towards your stain while he dealt with it....
Epel did not talk to you the next day
Except for that time during lunch when he came towards you with a bitter expression and some comically overfilled pockets
When he got next to you, he shoved his hand into one of his pockets and, with difficulty, pulled out 5 stain pens
"I hate you."
That was all he said before walking away

During your days as an NRC student you've learned a lot of things, including facts about the weather
1: The weather will always be nice on the date of the monthly scarabinelle debates in the courtyard
2: The statue of the King of the Underworld from the courtyard never got wet from rain
3: Unlike his statue, you were not waterproof
Neither was your shirt
So by the time you reached the Hall of Mirrors, you were soaking wet
You marveled at your misfortune right as Malleus entered the room through the Diasomnia mirror
His mild surprise from bumping into you made him almost not notice your predicament
"...Child of man? What happened to you?"
You sighed and told him you were caught in the rain, but you had no clean change of clothes and were feeling pretty cold already
"Hm. This can't do. Humans are very fragile creatures, a simple soak can leave lasting effects on your body.
Malleus seemed to fall deep in thought, as if he was presented with an incredible puzzle, and not the random misfortune of a friend
He nodded to himself, and you were curious to know the conclusion he reached
"Allow me to help you."
You sighed of relief at his decision
Out of everyone on campus, you trusted Malleus to be genuine and helpful, so you accepted his help
You didn't think much of it when he pulled out his magical pen from his pocket; you figured he was just going to use a small drying spell
Boy were you wrong.
Malleus rotated his pen slightly in the air, creating an ever growing wind
The speed and intensity of it grew very fast, and you had to grab onto a pillar to hold yourself in place
You watched in horror how a few students were pushed by the wind back into their mirrors as soon as they entered the Hall of Mirrors
You couldn't even attempt to do any damage control, since the wind was too loud for your voice to be heard
After what felt like forever, Malleus' wind started to dwindle and your feet were able to be on the ground again
"That... That certainly was a method of helping."
"Well? Was it successful? You seem pretty dry to me."
He smiled proudly at you
It was obvious how he knew that he did a good job and he was simply awaiting your praise
You patted down your uniform, and were surprised to notice your uniform was, indeed, dry
"...Yeah, actually. Thanks!"
"You are very welcome."
His smug words were carried by his confident grin as he proudly marched away from you and out of the room
The whole interaction was definitely weird, so you couldn't help but share it over lunch with your friends, Ace and Deuce
After you shared Malleus' small drying machine job, Ace started laughing at you, while Deuce put a hand on your shoulder, a sympathetic look on his face

Monster trio rejecting you Pt.2
The long awaited part 2! I absolutely loved writing Zoros part🙏
Warnings: angst, a bit of fluff
———-
Luffy
Surprisingly it wasn’t as hard to get over him because you knew he was just a knuckle head like that
On your new adventures you met new people, one specifically caught your eye.
Ace.
Ace was caring, funny, charming and very welcoming to be around. You both shared contacts on a transponder snail and talked 24/7, 365. Everyone knew the bond you had and left it alone, except luffy. He always saw you speaking on the snail but never knew who was on the other side.
The crew made a stop to a new island but everyone was waiting for you, who was talking on the transponder snail in your room.
“Finally a new adventure!! Lets go-!”
“LUFFY! Wait we cant leave without y/n!! This island is larger than anything we’ve ever seen before and ANYONE can get lost anytime!!”
Luffy sighed in annoyance and stomped off to your room and busted in
“Y/N!! LETS GO ALREADY!!” He yells with his chest
You jump in fear and quickly whisper to the other side of the snail “i gotta go!” And hung up.
“Who are you always talking to on that thing anyway?”
You sigh in defeat and answer “Ace, i talk to ace.”
“Ace? Huh? Why?”
“Well, I think he’s pretty cool and i like him.”
“I thought you liked me?”
“What?”
“You cant like-like me and like-like Ace? I thought we were just starting to get closer?”
You have a dumbfounded look on your face and you laugh at the misunderstanding. Maybe he understood after all, but i wonder why he would hide it.”
———
Sanji
Of course it was ALOT more difficult to get over him. You were devastated at how unreasonable he was, it was ridiculous.
So you decided to just not respond often when Sanji would speak to you, it was pointless anyway. He was still trying to pick up a conversation even after all that.
Sanji had a really bad dream one night, it was him re-experiencing the events at Sabaody, you werent there during that time but he dreamt that you were.
He woke up inna horrible cold sweat and immediately walked to the front of the ship, he needed some air. However when he walked out to see his crew doing there normal shenanigans, something was off.
He looks over at you to see you chatting, with brook?? How come your more comfortable around brook than him? He was an even bigger pervert than him.
“Y/n, may i see your pant-.” You swat brook on the side of his arm and slightly yell/giggle “no way brook!”
You clear your throat and begin to say “Thank you brook for helping me get over Sanji though, its really nice to have someone to talk to when no one else is around.” You leaned in and gave brook a deep hug.
“YOHOHOHOHO! Y/n it is a pleasure!! You flatter me, im blushing!! Although i am a skeleton so i cant really blush!! Yohoho!”
He hugs back and swings you around and you both laugh in glee. Sanji saw all of this and he thought, what did he even do wrong.
————
Zoro
In this you ARE included in the Sabaody Arc
It was VERY difficult to get over Zoro especially since he would never talk to you anymore. Nami being the jerk she was partnered you and Zoro together to walk around. She said it was for the “bonding experience”
She kept trying to bring back the spark that you and Zoro had but it will never work anymore.
You heard that day there was going to be an auction so you left to go check it out, you found the auction house and decided to take a seat not paying attention to your surroundings.
“X’cuse me?” Said a man next to you. It startled you and you jump. turning your head to look at him.
“That seat isn’t for you.”
His voice was DEEP.
“Oh- ill move- sorry.” A bear in a seat behind him leans over and says. “Come on boss lets let her stay! Shes really pretty!”
“Bepo-.” “Pleaseee!! Come on you need more allies than foes in this place anyway!”
The man grunts, allowing you to sit down again once more. “Law. Trafalgar D. Law.”
“Y/n L/n.”
Nice to meet’cha Y/N!”
“You’re a straw-hat aren’t you? Hmh. What a tease your Captain isnt first here.”
You chuckle a bit scared at the power law might consist..
Zoro searches nearly the whole place for you, and finally lands at the auction house, he busts in and frantically looks around. He sees you sitting with a man, he cant see his face but he sure can see yours. And your enjoying yourself, this sets something off in him.
Him being your ex-best-friend and all, Hes only used to seeing him make you laugh, but this. This is so different and weird, why does he care?

Not ridiculous at all | James Potter
Tumblr media
Pairing: James Potter x fem!Reader
Word Count: 3.5k
Summary: You are part of the marauders, always having felt special when they called you part of the gang, but also consequently too embarrassed to admit to wanting to be more feminine, afraid that they would no longer deem you cool enough to hang out with you. You are hurt by James' comments and James might realise something when you're avoiding him.
Notes: Best friend!James, he's a bit stupid, Lily is a sweet friend, arguments, so maybe a little angsty, but not really, classic cliche tropes like friends to lovers, misunderstandings, pining (I literally just dreamt this so it's a bit patchy) and I know it's very stereotypical but that's why it's just fanfiction :)
(PS) I haven't written before, just wanted to get this out of my system. English is my third language, and this fic is not proofread because I'm way too lazy for that! Enjoy!
Part two Masterlist
__________________
You've grown up with James Potter and have been part of the marauders since the very beginning. You always took 'being one of the guys' or 'part of the gang' as a compliment, it left you feeling giddy as if you were included in some secret group that only you had the privilege of belonging to.
But sometimes you would sit in the girls dormitory and despite your friends laughing and chatting about, you would feel a wave of loneliness wash over you. They often did activities together and by now, 6th year at Hogwarts, they've managed to stop asking you to join them as you've always dutifully replied that it 'wasn't your thing'.
I mean, what would the guys think of you? It would be too embarrassing to admit to them, or anyone for that matter, that you would love to be dolled up for once. To go shopping with your friends, be included in movie nights, asked by Alice if she could test some makeup on you, or read and gossip about the new romance novels that were the new hype.
Especially now when you sat on your bed, part of the circle in which they were discussing plans to go dress shopping.
"You should absolutely join us!" Alice squealed in delight. You were shaken out of your train of thoughts with a huh and realized the conversation had taken a turn somewhere and now included you too. Marlene and Lily nodded fervently in agreement but you bashfully shook your head.
"Nah, can you imagine me in a dress?" You joked, but Dorcas caught the curious and somewhat longing look in your eyes at the mention of getting ready for the Yule ball.
"I think you would look great actually. And besides, you can treat yourself too sometime you know. You're not obligated to stick with the marauders all the time." The girls in the dorm once again all agreed and you smiled at their kindness.
"Since when are you interested in things like the Yule ball?"
You snapped your head up at James to see his questioning eyes and then quickly averted your own in a flustered manner as if one of your greatest secrets had just been uncovered. "I just think it seems nice, that's all, I'm not even going or anything", you defended. You felt slightly embarrassed by James' face which wore a weirded out expression.
"Well you're not really the type to go to such an event anyway right?", James remarked. You did your best to hide your frown at his immediate agreement. Was it that bad that you'd hoped he would say something along the lines of 'what are you talking about, go enjoy yourself at the party' or something like that?
"Besides I can't imagine you in a dress, all made up, it'd just look so ridiculous." James continued. Remus, ever the sweet and attentive boy glanced at you and noticed your slightly sacked shoulders in disappointment at his words.
"I mean you're just not that type of person, you know? Like completely opposite of Lily."
And with that your face felt like it burned from embarrassment. As if you didn't already know. That didn't mean you didn't want to be more like her sometimes.
Peter's eyes flicked with concern from James to you and back.
You felt hurt and forced yourself to stop tears welling up at his words, mustering up a grin, ready to agree with him but were interrupted by Sirius who had now also caught your change in mood.
"Prongs, you really have no tact at all, how are you expecting to even win Evans over with that?" He said in a playful manner as to not offend their whipped friend, but not fully succeeding.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" James looked slightly offended and Remus jumped in the conversation.
"That's just not a nice thing to say. It's different if you call me an ugly toad, but not Y/N! If she wants to go to the Yule Ball all dolled up, she definitely should." He shot you a supportive smile which you returned.
Peter nodded in agreement. "I don't think you'd look ridiculous at all," he told you sincerely. You subtly scooted a little closer to him and Remus.
"But it's Y/N, it'd just look weird, cause she's just not a proper girl like that, no offense." James shot back and gave you a smile at the last two words.
You saw Remus opening his mouth to retort but quickly intervened. "He's right." You told them. You just wanted this conversation to be over with already. It was awkward and painful for you as it was.
James didn't seem to get the memo, however, and kept on going, drilling your confidence further into the ground.
"See, she agrees." He turned to you. "It's not like you're ugly or anything but it'd be ridiculous. Like I said, you're not the type to be all beautiful and dressed up, hair done and all. I mean you're cool, but not pretty like that." He was clearly not done yet and started talking about Lily and her beauty at which point you abruptly got up and left.
"What's gotten into her?" James remarked with a frown.
Sirius and Remus didn't even bother to answer and just stared at him in disbelief.
The girls comforted you as you cried. Marlene barged in with ice cream, stolen from the kitchen in one hand and 5 spoons in the other. "What a jerk." She commented and thrust a spoon in your hand before plopping down in front of you with the rest of your friends.
Lily sighed frustratedly. "See this is why I don't like him at all. He's so rude and arrogant, and he-"
"- is right." You answered dejectedly. "I'm your friend, but not the type to join you guys and belong to your circle."
"Well that's only because you hang around the boys all the time," Alice argued. She nudged you. "But you know what, now that James is being a git, you can hang out with us!"
Dorcas gasped dramatically. "We could do a girls night! Treat ourselves a little", she jumped up. "I'll get the face masks and nail polish!"
Lily let go of you too and told you to sit up. "Come on, let me do your hair," she smiled.
With Marlene feeding you ice cream, your nails being polished by Alice, hair done by Lily and Dorcas reading the latest romance novel out loud while you were all wearing a facemask, you couldn't help but feel all warm inside.
"I love you guys."
"Don't talk with your mouth full."
You laughed and pushed Marlene teasingly off the bed.
"Hey, watch it! I just finished your right hand." Alice complained.
James was a moron. He was kind hearted (to most), popular, captain of the Quidditch team, good looking but a moron nonetheless. So he was absolutely clueless to find you missing from the common room yesterday evening and even more clueless when you were missing from your usual spot next to him at the Gryffindor table in the great hall, because he could not for the life of him think of a reason why you would sit with Alice and Frank instead.
He frowned and felt uneasy at the fact that you hadn't even looked at him, let alone come for a hug with your smile and said 'good morning' like usual. He shook the thoughts away. You were obviously allowed to have your own friends as well and not obligated to spend all your time with him.
The door of the great hall behind him opened and Lily Evans walked in, which was why instead of walking up to you to say something, he habitually turned to Lily instead.
"You look beautiful this morning as usual. I could put in the effort to match you when we go out together?" He shot her a wink and a coy smile but faltered slightly when his attempts at flirting got even less of a reaction out of her than usual.
James turned to Sirius with a questioning look, as if to ask 'you noticed that too right?' but Sirius simply shrugged. When James looked back at Frank and Alice, you were gone, having left the moment you felt his stare.
James started to ponder. 'Were you avoiding him? Surely you wouldn't, right? You two were friends after all, childhood friends. Childhood best friends even, for Merlin's sake! If you were upset with him, you'd definitely let him know.'
A week passed with you, sitting on the opposite sides of the classroom, seemingly having picked partners long before class because how else would you team up with random students before James could even blink?
He had now fully accepted that you were avoiding him. And with that, he meant 'accepting the possibility of that occurrence'. He was by no means going to accept your strange new behavior without doing anything.
The last drop though, was when he heard the news from Peter that you'd already left for Hogsmeade with the girls.
He frowned. 'You were kind', he reasoned. If you were upset with him, then he'd have to apologize. Quickly. Because it's been far too long without his best friend and he realized he missed you. Especially seeing you hang out with others.
"What did I do?" He finally asked his remaining friends.
"Really Prongs?" Remus couldn't help but ask. His friend just gave him a look that said 'well go on then, what is it'.
"How about you think about what you said last week, you know, those rude comments about the Yule ball."
"Yeah, but I already apologized yesterday and told her that I didn't mean to offend her!" James flailed his arms around when he exclaimed it.
"But she's still only hanging out with anyone but me," he whined. "Peter studied with her, Pads got a 'good morning' this morning and you're still talking to eachother.
Remus gave him an unimpressed look at his whining but James was not done complaining yet.
"She keeps spending all her time with the girls while she doesn't even seem to be fully enjoying herself"
This was true. You dearly missed James, so despite your newfound hobbies, a look of sadness sometimes fell over your face, which hadn't escaped James' attention.
"And I just don't understand why she would-" He started but never finished, something dawning on him. "Oh of course! Merlin, I'm so stupid!" He shouted out in epiphany.
"Your words not mine," Sirius quickly took the opportunity.
"Oh bugger off Pads", James laughed and pushed Sirius' arm. And with that, he took off to find you.
Sirius and Remus watched him leave and sighed at the same time. "Do you really think he got it?"
"I bloody hope so, Moony."
"But it's James."
"Yeah, but I mean it's not my fight but even I realize that she's sad that James made fun of the idea of her being more girly when she secretly wants to be. Now she's trying out what she likes, without having to stay within the role of 'one of the guys'. I mean, it's pretty straightforward. I guess a genuine apology and show of support is the solution."
"But it's James."
"Yep, you're right."
Though he hadn't been able to find you, he'd waited patiently for your return in the common room. Staring at the ceiling from his laid back position on the couch.
"Oh there you are, Y/N," He rushed to sit up to face you when you entered the room. If you were surprised by his presence, you didn't show it.
"We need to talk, I wanted to apologize." He breathed out, relieved at himself for having figured it out. "Also, I've missed you so much."
You felt a weight fall off your shoulders. You didn't want to be upset with him and felt incredibly relieved to hear him say that.
"I'm sorry for the things I said. I didn't mean for you to get offended or anything," James began.
"Yeah, you already said that." You frowned. "And I remember I told you that that was not a proper apology."
"I know, I know. It was shitty of me so I wanted to apologize. Properly you know? I'm really really sorry. I was a terrible friend and shouldn't have said the things I said. Please forgive me?" He proceeded to give you Bambi eyes in an attempt to convince you. It unsurprisingly worked.
You softly smiled up at him. "Okay". You barely got the word out before he pulled you into a bone-crushing hug.
"Great," he said, cutting through the comfortable silence that you two had been hugging in.
"Now you don't have to avoid me anymore, and you can stop sitting with the girls to prove your point, and join us again instead." He triumphantly continued.
What now?
You blanked. "I'm sorry?" You managed to ask.
"I get that I hurt you by saying your weren't a proper girl, but you don't have to pretend to prove your point by trying to be one." James stated, proud of himself that he figured it out.
"Because I can see that you don't like it, like your face gets all gloomy which is understandable because it isn't really your circle of people."
You stared at him, an incredulous look on your face.
"Fuck you James." You said, your voice coming out softer than you'd hoped. Tears were welling up again, but you couldn't help yourself.
"Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I do want that to be my circle of people? That I don't just want to be one of the guys all the time? Is it that crazy to think that I'm still a girl with feelings? That I want to feel pretty too? That I don't like being told by my supposed best friend that I'm basically ugly? That I hate to be compared to other girls like that?"
You were ranting and James had taken a step back, surprised by your outburst.
"No, that's not what I-", James tried to salvage the situation but you weren't having it.
"You've told me that stuff for as long as I can remember and I never told you otherwise because I was scared that you'd no longer want to hang out with me for not being a 'chill friend'. But you know what, I no longer want you to."
At this point, you angrily wiped your eyes to get rid of tears that were threatening to spill. "So fuck you". With that, you brushed past him, escaping upstairs to your room.
James Fleamont Potter felt absolutely miserable.
If anyone told James that you'd ever be more on his mind than Lily, he would call them ridiculous. But here he was, another week had passed and he was staring at your back as you were leaving with your friends for Hogsmeade again.
You weren't wearing your school uniform and robes anymore and James was surprised to see you wearing one of what he knew to be Lily's dresses.
'It suited you more than it suited Lily.' The unwarranted thought flashed through his mind and he shook his head with a scoff to himself. What was going on?
James also noticed that your hair was brushed and shining with a butterfly clip holding your hair in a bun. He wondered when you decided to change your hairstyle because he found that it framed your face perfectly.
'Not ridiculous at all,' he understood.
You looked absolutely perfect.
You turned your face a little and James could feel his head reeling. Have you always been this glowing? Was he just simply missing you? He didn't even realize that he hadn't spared Lily a glance- until Sirius mentioned her while they were having a drink - and a strange feeling washed over him at the thought.
You were running from Filch.
'Fuck I shouldn't have studied after hours, curfew was probably hours ago," you cursed to yourself and took a sharp right turn. You were trying to reach the secret passage right behind the big statue on the fourth floor when you saw the hallway light up because of Filches torch.
Forcing your legs to move faster, you were suddenly grabbed by the wrist. A hand was clasped over your mouth and you felt a heavy cloth fall over you.
You recognised the person pressed to your back immediately and tried not to melt in his embrace as Filch walked straight past the two of you, covered in the invisibility cloak.
You could feel his breath against your temple. His hand had dropped from your mouth, instead draping across your stomach now to rest on your side. The other held out in front of you to create space under the cloak. You shifted a little and finally turned your head and lifted it to look at him and thank him but you were unable to say anything for a moment.
You simply admired him.
The proximity of the two of you in that intimate embrace had something fluttering in your stomach and you harshly jerked away in denial when your feelings hit you.
Oh no.
Now, all suddenly? What changed? Does it really take one random moment to flip your world upside down?
You rushed to push the invisibility cloak out of your way and then left without sparing James another glance.
James couldn't force his legs to move to run after you, still reeling from about the exact same epiphany that you'd just run away from. Your gaze, his fast beating heart and the urge he had felt to lean down for a kiss had confirmed his conflicted feelings of the past few days since he'd seen you leave for Hogsmeade.
The following morning, you'd had the chance to properly process the happenings of last night.
Your conclusion was that you felt guilty that you hadn't even expressed your gratitude. It was rude, you figured. Even if you were overwhelmed by the sudden wave of realization that came crashing down on you, it was rude.
So you pushed your confused feelings aside and marched up to him when you found him in the great hall.
"Thanks, I owe you." You awkwardly said, stopping at his spot at the Gryffindor table. All while absolutely not having forgotten about the fact that the last time you had said something to him, you'd flipped him off and told him to go fuck himself.
James was absolutely beaming. "Yeah you do, but no worries, I'll cash it in right away." This was his chance. He would make up for his behavior and act on his feelings right now.
"How about a date?"
There was a long silence. Your heart plummeted to the ground. Right. James. Lily. Lily and James.
"What am I a magician?" You finally managed to sarcastically retort. "I'm a convincing person but not a miracle worker." You pulled your hand through your hair as you looked around the great hall to see if you could spot Lily.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do." You forced a smile.
James, who had been mostly confused at your words, disregarded it completely in delight at your acceptance to go out with him, even if it seemed somewhat reluctant. Not that it would matter because he was going to prove what an amazing boyfriend he could be. If you'd accept him, of course.
He was grinning from ear to ear, which you mistook as excitement at the prospect of a potential date with Lily. So when you abruptly turned on your heels and marched over to Lily, James watched you confusedly.
And when he heard you try to talk Lily into going out with him, he wanted to crawl in a ditch and die. He stood there, frozen and recounting how you could've interpreted that wrongly.
You returned to him after a while with an apologetic smile. "Yeah sorry Prongs, she-"
"You", he blurted out.
You raised your eyebrows. "Me?" You repeated back.
"The date, I meant you. A-and me of course. Us, like you and me on a date. Together. I thought maybe Hogsmeade?" He managed to force the words out nervously.
There was a long silence and James' shoulders slumped a little. Even more when you finally answered.
"Uh, no?" You said in a questioning manner. James officially wanted to die now.
"You're sweet James, and I don't think you do it on purpose but you're not interested in me like that." You began, trying to convince not only James, but yourself as well.
James opened his mouth to argue but you quickly interrupted him before he could properly do so.
"James, you really don't. And you asking me out on a date when you've quite literally been drooling over Lily just last week as you have been doing for the past 5 years, that's not very nice to me." You frowned.
"Oh." He whispered. He was once again at a lack of words for a moment. Terrible new habit, he thought. This was not how he thought it would go.
"I'd still gladly go with you to Hogsmeade though?" You offered. "Just you know, not as an easy second choice date while you are obviously head over heels with her."
'I'm not', he wanted to tell you, but it was obvious that you wouldn't believe him. "Yeah okay," he weakly smiled. "Just the two of us though."
You nodded and stepped forward, wrapped your arms around him and he leaned into you, returning the hug.
With his face pressed in your hair, eyes closed, he decided that this situation wasn't too bad. He's fought for Lily's affection for years. He'd fight harder for yours.

Seungcheol smiles against the wine glass pursed on his lips. You looked beautiful as you listened to the woman drone on about the notes and undertones of the wine that she had been pouring for the two of you to try, but Seungcheol had stopped paying attention three bottles ago.
“This one is a Cabernet Sauvignon.”
You hum along with the woman’s words as you bring the glass to your lips, taking a sip of the dark red liquid and letting the dry wine rest on your tongue, trying to taste the notes she was explaining even as you feel Seungcheol’s eyes on your face.
“A personal favorite and one I know a lot of couples tend to want to take home, especially on evenings like this. Notes of cranberries and dark chocolate. What do you think, Seungcheol?”
Hearing his name from the host, your boyfriend smiles, looking away from you to pick up the glass, tipping it back quicker than you had. You watch as he swirls the liquid on his tongue, tilting his head only to purse his lips and look at yours as you let them part ever so slightly in amusement.
“Not my favorite, honestly. Especially if I’m buying a bottle for Valentine’s Day. I want something sweet. Something that will make me feel as good as I do when I look at her.”
He was being ridiculous, and you couldn’t help but look away, feeling your cheeks burning at his attempts to be sweet. The woman laughs, reaching for the glasses in front of you, and Seungcheol pulls them back towards her before she searches her inventory for the perfect choice as you shake your head.
“Seriously, Cheol?”
Smiling, Seungcheol leans to press his lips against your warm cheek, chuckling at the heat under his lips even as you try to pull away, feeling embarrassed by his public display of attention.
“Of course, I’m serious, Y/N. It’s Valentine’s Day. If there was any day for me to be as cheesy as possible, it’s today, and you look beautiful. I can’t help it…  I think Cupid shot me in the ass because I’m head over heels for you, baby.”
Scoffing, you push Seungcheol away, listening to his laughter, even as you attempt to hide your laugh, muttering about how stupid he is.
“Stupidly in love with you.”
"Ya, could you shut up Choi Seungcheol?”
Turning back towards you and a now playfully pouty Seungcheol, the woman laughs under her breath as she shows you both a different bottle of wine.
“This is a Chateau Chantal Cherry Port. This is the sort of dessert wine I would recommend serving with chocolate. Perfect for a day like today.”
Seungcheol watches your lips pull up into a smile as the dark liquid is poured into two small port glasses and offered to you. He lets you taste it first, listening to the soft sound of appreciation that escapes your lips before he tilts his glass back and his eyes widen.
“Oh wow…”
You can only nod along as you watch your boyfriend this time. He had spent the day “stupidly in love” with you, but now you were almost drunk with how much you were clearly enamored with the man.
“Rich cherries with a bit of tobacco and wood smoke depth makes this port special."
Neither of you were paying attention to your host at this point, as Seungcheol notices you looking at him, the glass resting on his lips as he finishes what is left in his glass. He needed to get you out of here. What made this special was you, not any underlying notes or fruits or what barrel the wine had been aged in.
“We’ll take a bottle.”
Tumblr media
You smile, leaning your head back against the wall next to your front door, as Seungcheol’s lips press against the column of your throat. He had barely kept his hands to himself the entire drive home, but you weren’t complaining. You were on fire for him, and it would seem the feeling was mutual.
Groaning against your skin, Seungcheol’s fingers slide along your arm to your wrist, where your fingers are wrapped around a blue jasmine bouquet he had stopped to pick up on the way home. He tried to be careful, dragging your arm up the wall, knowing you were holding the flowers, but he could feel petals hitting his shirt and hear the soft fluttering as they fell to the ground.
“Cheol…”
His brows furrowing at the level of need in your voice as you say his name, Seungcheol rakes his teeth against your throat before pulling back to look at your pretty face, leaning in to press his plush lips to yours. Your lips were almost the same color as the wine that he had bought for the two of you to share for the night, and it was driving him crazy.
You whimper against his lips, and Seungcheol feels his cock starting to stiffen in his pants, causing him to hiss and lean his forehead against yours in an effort to calm himself down. Your free hand was tugging at his dress shirt under his jacket, pulling it from his pants already, but he had two bags in his hand and a plan for the evening before he wanted to have you on his cock.
“You are so fucking perfect. I love you so much.”
Seungcheol feels your smile against his cheek as he leans to brush his lips against your ear to whisper in your ear. He could feel the chill bumps spreading along your skin. As hard as he was making this for himself, he knew it was just as difficult for you not to beg him  to take you to bed.
“My forever valentine.”
Your fingernails almost rip at Seungcheol’s shirt as you feel his hot breath against the shell of your ear, but his words cause your heart to swell. He was cheesy, and you couldn’t help but smile, but he was making you fall in love with him all over again.
“I love you too, Cheol. I–can we just..."
He knew what you were going to ask. Smiling, Seungcheol shakes his head, making you whine as he pulls back from you, only stopping to kiss you gently before taking your free hand and guiding you towards the kitchen.
“Not yet. Patience, darling.”
You did want to have patience, but as you followed Seungcheol into the kitchen, his fingers falling from yours as he laid his bags on the island, you couldn’t take your eyes off him. You knew how important today was to him. Every day with you was important to him, but holidays, no matter how commercial and silly they really were, were important if they could be spent with you and celebrating you.
“Here, sit down, baby. Let me grab a couple of things.”
Seungcheol watches you smile as he turns the swiveling high bar stool towards you. He loved your smile. He loved how easily he could make you happy on days like this. Just little actions would have you smiling and giggling for him, and that had Seuncheol’s chest feeling tight with love.
Turning you back towards the island, Seungcheol leans to kiss your cheek, listening to your soft laughter as he leaves you watching him. He could hear you shifting behind him, but he kept himself to his task: two wine glasses, a plate, and a fork. No matter how much he wanted to take you to bed right away, he needed to practice the patience he expected you to have.
Crossing your arms on the counter, you lay your chin on your hand, tilting your head slightly while watching your boyfriend complete his tasks. He was effortlessly handsome, and you could imagine every day of the rest of your life spent like this. He made it as easy as breathing.
He smiled as he looked at you fondly, seeing you with your head resting on the counter. Seungcheol reaches for the bags, taking out the bottle of wine from the vineyard along with a plain box that he had been insistent on stopping to get on the way home.
“You are so cute. I can’t stand when you look at me like that.” You smile once again, and Seungcheol’s heart beats quicker. “You make it hard for me to tell you no.”
“Then why would you ever tell me no, Cheol?”
Shaking his head, Seungcheol carefully opens the wine, letting out a sigh as he holds one of the delicate wine glasses in his left hand and pours some of the deep red liquid into it.
“I rarely do. I just ask for patience, like right now. I want to do this in the right order. I got you nice things; I want to enjoy them with you and then enjoy you. Is that so terrible?”
Biting at your lips, you feel your cheeks burning at Seungcheol’s words and his meaning. He was right. You knew he had spoiled you in so many ways, over and over again. Today was no different. You watched how he held the wine glass in his fingers, and it reminded you of how he held you on so many occasions, as if you’d break, like you were precious.
“It’s not… I just want you so much. I miss you already.”
Sliding the glass across the bar to you, Seungcheol grins, tilting his head at your wording. You missed him? He was right in front of you, albeit separated by some quartz and wood, but he knew what you meant; he would still make you say it.
“Is that so? Sweetheart, I’m right here. How could you possibly–”
"Cheol, you know what I mean.”
Cutting off his words, you whine out your own, causing Seungcheol to chuckle as he pours his own glass of the port before putting the bottle to the side, picking up his glass, and bringing it to his nose as he swirls the liquid gently in the glass.
“Why don’t you just tell me, Princess?"
It wasn’t a question; rather, it was a request, a command. Licking your lips, your eyes move to your wine glass, your fingers running over the stem as your lips pull up into a small smirk, knowing Seungcheol’s eyes are on you. You know he’s watching as you pout your lips slightly and bat your lashes in a way that drives him crazy.
“I miss your lips on mine; I miss them on my skin. I want you inside of me, baby.”
Tipping his glass back against his lips, Seungcheol takes a breath through his nose as the wine hits his tongue when you finally tell him what he wants to hear. He would give you what you wanted in due time. Shaking his head, Seungcheol smiles against the delicate glass, lowering his eyes to meet yours as you take your first sip of the wine, letting out a small happy sound to the taste.
“And I want to be inside of you, and I will be if you can be patient with me. I have a treat for you. It’s a special day, remember?”
You smile, lifting your shoulders as you nod in response, watching Seungcheol turn the plain white box towards you. You could smell the sweet dessert, but you weren’t entirely sure what it was. It wasn’t until he lifted the lid that your mouth started to water, and you kicked your feet out of happiness.
“My favorite…”
“Mm, only the best for you, darling. The last slice of red velvet cake from your favorite bakery. I called ahead to make sure she put it back for me. Are you happy?”
Lifting the fork, Seungcheol smiles, watching you nod as he cuts off the tip of the cake before turning the bite towards you and letting you lean in to take it from the fork. Watching your eyes close and listening to the sound of your pleasure from enjoying your favorite dessert causes his smile to widen, with his eyes closing very slightly. It was almost better than sharing it with you, just watching you enjoy it on your own.
“It’s perfect. You have to try some. It’s perfect with the port. Let me?”
With your fingers sliding over his, you take the fork from Seungcheol, cutting off the next bite of red velvet cake and offering it to him as he continues to smile at you. It’s only after urging him to take it, the crumb of the cake brushing against his lips, that your boyfriend takes the bite from the fork, his brows furrowing to the sweet taste, and he closes his eyes, savoring it.
Taking another bite, you hum happily as Seungcheol runs his thumb along his lips to push away any remaining crumbs. Watching you eat, Seungcheol brings his wine to his lips with a smile as he uses his free hand to scroll through his phone. The atmosphere was almost perfect. The two of you in the comfort of your house, your favorite cake in front of you, shared the perfect dessert wine, but the sound of music made you look surprised.
“Dance with me?”
Seungcheol’s fingers run along your hand as you drop the fork on the mostly empty plate as Florence & The Machine’s Stand by Me plays quietly from the phone resting on the kitchen counter. You can only nod, letting your boyfriend spin your chair away from the island as he grins at you and your serious expression. Helping you down from the stool, Seungcheol slides his fingers around your waist, pulling you flush against his body as he takes the lead, swaying with you to the rhythm of the music.
“What is that look for? It’s your favorite…”
Of course, it was. Of course, he remembered. Leaning your cheek against his shoulder, you smile, closing your eyes as Seungcheol hums along with the words to the song until you finally speak.
“This is perfect, Cheol. You’ve done too much.”
Humming as he considers your words, Seungcheol leans his head back so he can look down at you, causing you to look up at him as he does. You watch as he shakes his head, finally disagreeing with you. Gentle fingers caress your cheek before Seungcheol allows his hand to rest against the side of your neck, keeping you grounded as if you might float away from him.
“Never enough. I love you, and it’s Valentine’s day… I’m just enjoying your company. I’m enjoying that pretty look on your face when you like something.”
Pouting slightly, you watch as Seungcheol smiles into a laugh, leaning to gently press his lips against your pout.
“No more pouting, sweetheart. Finish this dance with me….hm?”
Your lips pull up against Seungcheol’s lips as his fingers trail along your neck and up against the side of your hair. Your skin was starting to feel warm again at his attention. You were wanting him badly again, feeling his body so close to yours even as the sweet words of the song attempted to keep you in the moment.
Hearing your soft whimper when he pulls back from your lips, Seungcheol bites at his bottom lip as he lets you turn in front of him, his fingers loosely holding yours. With a gentle tug, he pulls you back into his arms as the song ends, and your eyes once again find his desire burning just under the surface.
Seungcheol smiles, his teeth slowly sliding from his bottom lip as he shakes his head, trying to keep himself in check as you look at him like that. You listen to his gentle sigh as you feel his fingers work the zipper of your dress down your back. The weight of the material causes your dress to slide forward on your shoulders when Seungcheol takes a step back from you to press his fingers under your chin, tilting your head up towards him.
“Have I told you how beautiful you are today? How much I love you in this dress?”
Watching you smile, your head tilting, Seungcheol trails his fingers back up your arms to where your dress was precariously resting on your shoulders. With a gentle brush of his fingers, your dress falls to the floor, a discarded pile at your feet as his eyes move over your body.
“But I love this even more. Shit, baby…”
Seungcheol groans, moving his hands to your waist before scratching his nails lightly down to your hips to rest his palms over the burgundy lace that covered your body. You were driving him crazy, his cock now throbbing hard in his pants as Seungcheol’s eyes dilated, looking at you in the bodysuit.
“Do you like it?”
Letting out a breath at your question, Seungcheol shakes his head, trying to come up with the right words, before just taking a step back and lifting his hand to rub his palm over his mouth in awe. Watching you turn in front of him, showing him every angle, your boyfriend can only scoff as you let out a playful laugh, lowering your lashes when you face him once again. That was the last straw.
“Don’t ask silly questions, sweetheart.”
You start to defend yourself when you find yourself lifted off your feet. Wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his waist, you smile against Seungcheol’s lips as he groans to the feeling of your body flush with his as he starts the walk towards the bedroom.
“I remember how to walk, Cheol.”
“I don’t give a fuck." Your back hits the bed, and you feel the breath get knocked out of your lungs as Seungcheol looks down at you from the side of the bed like you were something to eat. “I wanted you here at my pace."
Seungcheol grins as your teeth catch your red lips, pulling at them as you try to hide how much you like his words. He knew how much you liked him manhandling you and how much you were going to like everything that was going to happen to you.
“Mm, I’m here. What are you going to do with me now, sir?"
Fuck, you were trying to kill him. Shaking his head, Seungcheol chuckles as you tease him with not only your words but also your toes running along the inseam of his dress pants. He groans as you bite your lips, working your foot all that much closer towards his leaking cock, still trapped behind layers of clothing.
“Exactly what you asked me for in the kitchen, darling.”
Watching Seungcheol’s hands move along his torso to undo his shirt, you laugh quietly at his words, knowing he would keep his promise. Your eyes follow his every move just as they do when your back arches and your legs cross, allowing you to press your thighs together, giving you some much needed relief from the arousal soaking into the lace barely covering your pussy.
Clothes hit the floor in different corners until Seungcheol finally lets out a breath of relief, wrapping his hand around his cock and stroking himself slowly. With his free hand, he pries your legs open, only to then bring down his palm hard on your inner thigh, granting himself a half moan, half whine from your pretty lips to the pleasurable sting.
“Keep your legs open. With how you are acting, I might as well have let you grind on a pillow while I was getting undressed, princess. Are you that fucking needy?”
You can only furrow your brows and nod, your fingers running along the lace covering your breasts and stomach as Seungcheol’s hands press into your thighs and trace your curves along your hips to your ass and back to your thighs once again.
“Dying to be touched that badly? Are you ruining your present for me? I liked this piece of lingerie, but I’m more than willing," You whined, hearing and feeling the sound of lace ripping at your hips as Seungcheol’s fingers dug into the delicate material. “To replace it. I’m not, however, patient enough to fucking figure out how to get you out of it. I’d rather fuck you while you are in it.”
Lifting your hips, your eyes move down to where Seungcheol’s fingers slide under the torn lace. You watch as he smirks, digging his fingers into the burgundy material, watching how easily it gives way to his strength before he moves his fingers to the center of your legs, running two fingers over the wet patch that had grown exponentially with his actions.
“You like that idea, don’t you, my pretty little slut?”
Seungcheol watches you lick your lips before you nod and rock your hips against his fingers. He knew you like the back of his hand.
“Yes…fuck. Please, Cheol? I don’t want to wait anymore. I’ve wanted you all day long.”
You were so greedy, and he loved that about you. He was just as greedy, if not more. Grinning, Seungcheol leans down to run his tongue along the lace as he hooks a finger under it. Soon, your whines turn into full blown moans as Seungcheol runs his knuckle along your folds before circling your leaking entrance slowly with his index finger.
Pushing into your soft, tight walls, Seungcheol groans against the wet lace, furrowing his brows. You were addictive, from your sounds to your taste. He knew you didn’t want to wait, but he didn’t want to hurt you. He could feel you squeezing around his finger like a vice, and that already had his cock twitching against your thigh at the thought of being inside of you.
“Please….just —”
You let out a soft, breathy whine as Seungcheol kisses your thigh, sliding a second finger into you beside his first. You wanted to complain that it wasn’t his cock, but when he rolls his fingers back towards the top of your pussy with perfect precision, the words leave your mind as quickly as they had entered them.
Seungcheol grunts, running his lips against your soft skin, feeling your slick arousal coating his fingers. He wanted to get his tongue on you. He wanted this lace out of his way, but at the same time, he didn’t want it off of you. Seungcheol hadn’t been lying about wanting to fuck you in it, so there was only one thing to be done.
“Cheol!”
A smirk causes Seungcheol’s lips to pull up to one side when you yell his name, feeling your lingerie give way between your legs as he uses his fingers to rip the lace apart. With nothing in his way, Seungcheol slides his fingers back into your warm pussy and runs his tongue between your folds, groaning as he circles the tip around your clit, feeling you buck your hips up against his mouth.
You feel your stomach tightening as your orgasm starts to take over quickly with Seungcheol’s relentless actions, but it isn’t until a third finger is carefully worked in with the others that you fall over the edge. Your head thrown back against the bedding, you lace your fingers into Seungcheol’s hair, moaning his name as you cum around his fingers, feeling him smile against your folds.
“Mm…fuck.”
His words are muffled against your pussy as Seungcheol lets his fingers carefully slip from you, and his tongue replaces them in order to collect as much of your cum as possible. Only when your thighs shake around his head and you whimper his name, begging for him to give you a break, does Seungcheol move his mouth from between your legs, opting to press soft, wet kisses to your thighs.
“You are trying to kill me.”
Lips once again, pulling up at your words, Seungcheol shakes his head, nipping at your thigh, causing you to whine at feeling overstimulated once again, tugging at his hair to make him stop.
“I’m not. I just like watching you tremble like that. You are so fucking pretty. You taste so good. I could eat you out all day long.”
You wanted to reiterate your words after hearing his. It felt like he was trying to kill you as you felt Seungcheol’s hands sliding along your legs and up your sides as he moved between your legs to lay over you. You found yourself pouting only to hear him chuckle and to feel Seungcheol’s lips press against yours to soften the pout before the kiss turned into something much deeper and filled with longing.
Seungcheol’s fingers press into your side next to your breast before he groans against your lips, rolling his hips to meet yours and feeling your wet folds against his aching cock. You were warm and wet, and if anyone felt like they were dying right now, it was him. He wanted to give you time to calm down after your first orgasm, but he was also aching to be inside of you after prepping you.
“Mm, baby, you feel so good. I just…fuck.”
You could hear the strain in his voice as you felt him rutting between your legs. Your thighs were still trembling; all you could manage were soft moans and begs against Seungcheol’s lips for him to get inside of you. At first, you aren’t sure he understands you until you feel the head of his cock press into you, and his hips slowly move to meet yours.
The stretch, even after all of his prep, is intense. Seungcheol is a large man, from his arms to his chest and all the way to his cock, now buried inside of you as he stays still for a moment, waiting for you to adjust. Eyes locked on your face, Seungcheol takes a deep breath, feeling your walls tighten around him, causing his head to spin before you take a breath of your own and whisper his name.
“Pl—please…need it. I want you to. You feel so good, baby. You are so big, Cheol.”
Everything you said was bad for Seungcheol’s ego. You were always making him feel like he was the most important thing in the world and in the bedroom like he was the only man you would ever need again in your life. That was all he needed and wanted. He wanted you ruined for anyone else. He wanted to leave an imprint of himself inside of you so that you would never forget that you were his, and if you needed a reminder, he would be there every single day of your life to give it to you.
Lips brushing against your ear, Seungcheol groans your name like a prayer. His pace quickens as he buries his cock deep inside of you. Pulling your leg up to his hip, he hisses at the feeling of your nails scratching at his biceps before thrusting hard, making you cry out in pleasure.
“Put your leg around me, baby. I want you to cum on my cock.” You nod, letting him help you wrap your leg around his hip so that your foot rests on the top of his ass, the new angle causing you to see stars along with his words. “I fucking love the feeling of your cum on my dick, baby. Give it to me."
Between Seungcheol’s words and the way his cock was dragging along your walls, you didn’t stand a chance of lasting much longer. The coil winding tighter and tighter snaps as Seungcheol’s teeth rake along the side of your neck, and you see white.
With your walls gripping his cock like a vice, Seungcheol groans against your neck, his breath caught in his throat as he feels your cum coat his length with every deep thrust into your heavenly pussy. Holding your thigh tightly, Seungcheol leans back to look down at you as he starts to chase his own high.
"God, I’m so close. Wanna leave you full of me...dripping, so I can fuck it back into you.”
Your cheeks burn at Seungcheol’s dirty mouth, and your eyes close, causing him to chuckle before you hear his pleasured groan, knowing he truly is getting close. You could feel him getting closer. All the signs that you had grown to know over your time with him were the same. The way he would pull you closer, his hand almost bruising your skin, his hot breath on your jaw, and the way he would bury himself as deep as possible inside of you, intent on filling you fully.
Seungcheol’s choked groans fill your ears as he falls over the edge. His warm cum spilled into you, only to be fucked back into you with deep, smooth thrusts. Catching his breath, Seungcheol smiles as he feels cum begin to seep from you and between your thighs, knowing he had done exactly what he had promised.
Leaning back on his hand, Seungcheol groans. He helps you rest your leg back on the bed and off to the side as he continues to slowly push the mixture of his cum and yours back into your tender pussy. He could feel himself softening and how he was overstimulating himself, but it was worth it to hear your soft whimpers and to watch the cum drip from you and around his cock as you ran your fingers between your folds and through the sticky mess, much to his delight.
“Shit…yes. Does that feel good, baby? You gonna give me one more? Use that cum to get off around me one more time tonight."
Meeting your eyes, Seungcheol nods along with you as you roll your hips over his cock and your fingers, letting yourself cum one last time. Your eyes closing, and you let out a soft breath and whispered his name as your boyfriend slipped from you with a soft groan. You feel his plush, perfect lips work from your jaw to your lips before the bed feels suddenly empty for a few moments.
Exhaustion keeps you from searching for Seungcheol as he sits on the edge of the tub, running his fingers under the taps, letting the water come to the perfect temperature. Leaning towards the door every few seconds, he checks to make sure you haven’t moved, only to smile at seeing you breathing softly, your eyes still closed as you rest, waiting for him.
After a few minutes, you feel your lips once again press against yours, bringing you back to reality as Seungcheol’s arm moves under your back and the other under your legs. He simply grins against your cheek, hearing your soft mutters of how you could walk before he sits you on the toilet and runs his fingers over your hair, watching you finally open your eyes to look up at him.
“Hi…”
“Hi yourself. I ran a bath and brought the rest of our wine in here. Does that sound good?”
Nodding, you smile, causing him to do the same. You let him help you back to your feet once you were ready. Holding on to your arms, Seungcheol helps you into the bath before sliding in behind you and letting you rest your back on his chest, his fingers running along the stem of a wine glass, the other hand resting on your stomach.
You can’t help but smile as you bring your wine to your lips, taking a sip of the sweet wine before leaning your head back against his shoulder and feeling his lips press to the side of your head. You were exhausted, but this had been the perfect Valentine’s day. Seungcheol was the perfect Valentine, and he was your forever Valentine.
“I love you, Y/N.”
Seungcheol’s lips against your ear; his words cause your skin to erupt with chill bumps and for you to laugh into your words as you turn to meet his lips speaking against his.
“I love you too, Cheol. Happy Valentine’s Day, my love.”

best friend's older brother seungcheol
this is part of my 550 followers celebration event! find the rest of the members' headcanons in the event too as i post them through this month!
Tumblr media
no warnings: just fluff.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who isn't even attractive to you for most of your life
seungcheol, attractive? hell no. you don't understand why every girl in your class drools over him. they ask you for his number, for tips to ask him out, for favours to set them up with him, and you oblige, because you don't get the hype but you don't care about protecting cheol from these girls.
and it doesn't seem that cheol minds either. at each of your birthday parties, you don't even call half the people who turn up, because they just want to ogle seungcheol. and seungcheol even lets them.
you don't care because you just want to spend time with his sister, who's your bestest friend, and it's a small price to pay for her treasured company. and you don't really mind seungcheol's company too, occasionally. although he pouts too much whenever the three of you don't play the game he wants to play.
you don't know how to define your relation with him. he's been everything you had missed in being a single child. teaching you to drive even when your hand-eye coordination sucks. helping you with your precalculus exam even when his own geography exam is the next morning. rescuing you from dumb teens who'd tried to spike your drinks.
but he's not really a brother. you know that more as you grow up when you stop seeing him as just your best friend's older brother, but also as a specimen of the opposite sex. the way his voice becomes deeper, his hair falls longer to the nape of his neck, the way he can no longer fit into the makeshift tent in your room when the three of you play UNO.
and yet, you can't imagine any romantic notion cropping up in your mind with regards to him.
that one time someone asked if you ever had a crush on seungcheol, and you'd laughed straight in their face. crush? on seungcheol? ridiculous, absurd, preposterous. you tell seungcheol the same the next time you see him, and he laughs with you too. see? no scene of romance.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who is head over heels in love with you
has been so for the last four years, when he's seen you really grow up into a remarkable woman.
the two of you are just two years apart, so he sees you hitting puberty mere months after him. and boy, he's down bad since that day.
he's not been able to maintain any relationship with anyone he dates simply because he always finds flaws in them that aren't in you. can't bake? too bad, you can. can't sing idol songs? too bad, you know every idol song's lyrics and choreography. can't keep a seat for him during lunch? too bad, you never forget. don't know his favourite ice cream flavour? too bad, you know every ice cream flavour he has liked since he was ten years old. have clear skin? too bad, he would choose your shiny, oily skin any day. wear skirts? too bad, he prefers your baggy jeans because you have pockets to store candies in.
and yet he knows that you don't think of him like that. it doesn't particularly bother him, because he doesn't need you to love him for him to love you.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who gets the news of you going abroad for college from his sister, not from you directly
"you didn't even bother to tell me." he says, after almost an hour of you coaxing him to tell you why he's pouty and upset.
"i would tell you, eventually, i would." "and when will eventually come around?" you don't answer, just hug him from the side and press your face to his shoulder. he's gotten remarkably broad in the last few years, perhaps to fit in with his jock image. but his body still feels as soft to you as it did earlier as well, whenever you had hugged him.
"you'll call me?" he says after a long time. "of course." "when will you leave? in august?" "yeah, so i'm still here for a couple more months. this entire summer, i can chill finally." you smile, but he doesn't. his eyes lock onto yours, and your face burns up with the attention he's giving you, although you don't want to look away.
"two more months." without any clue of what's going on in his head, you shoot him a confused glare. "yeah, two months. two months are a long time." "not really. but they're enough." "enough?" cheol doesn't reply. he doesn't need to. actions always prove louder than words.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who now spends more time with you than ever
he's not even being subtle about it. he totally stops going out for parties and random date nights, in favour of spending every evening with you. your best friend is busy with her boyfriend, who's also pining because she's leaving too with you, so cheol has you completely to himself.
together, the two of you explore every nook and cranny of the city you were born in. cheol is surprised at how little you know about your own city, and you're shocked at how much he knows. "you gangster. how are you so familiar with these parts of the town?" you blush as he drives you thru the red light district of the city, clutching him tight as you sit behind him on his motorbike. "i've spent many a happy evening in these lanes, sweetheart." "do you want to drop me off and enjoy here then? i can take the bus home." he grabs your hands which are wrapped around his shoulders and pulls you closer to him. "don't say stuff you don't really mean, sweetheart."
sweetheart. that's a new nickname, but he's using it ever so often these days. he checked your reaction the first time he used it, and while your eyes had grown wide in mild shock, you'd not really protested against him. and he knows you've never not loudly protested against something you don't like. so he knows pretty well you don't mind the nickname. and if the way you're wearing the same lipgloss and the same pair of jeans every day ever since he complimented it once is anything to go by then you like the nickname too.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who you're touching a little more as each day passes by
you don't know when it starts to happen, but you rather start to looking forward to seeing him every damn day.
you hope he doesn't realise why you keep wearing the same lipgloss every day. you hope he doesn't realise why you suddenly enjoy riding his motorcycle with him. you hope he doesn't realise that you no longer argue with him when he insists on taking you to places he's more familiar with.
and you certainly hope he doesn't ask why. because to be honest, you don't know if you could answer it yourself. why do you want him to look at you more? why do you want to touch the muscles on his back through his white t-shirts? why do you let him beat you in every arcade game as long as it means that he celebrates his victory by hugging you?
perhaps because when you try to think of your life without seungcheol, you come up with a blank. you simply cannot imagine a life where he’s not a part of it. a life without him at your birthdays and new year parties? a life without him on your emergency dial? a life without him being your go-to person for any excuse you want to whip up to get out of a situation? a life without your #1 supporter no matter what you’ve done? you can’t imagine it at all.
and this realisation makes you think again on what your relationship with seungcheol really is.
thinking about best friend's older brother!seungcheol who brings you to the beach the day before his birthday
it’s also your last week in this country. the two of you spend the entire day wandering through street stalls that are set up next to the beach. you buy him a seashell locket that he promptly wears around his neck. he buys you as many glasses of boba tea as you like, which turns out to be nearly every flavour sold at the stall.
when night comes, the two of you lie down in the rocky sand along the beach, slightly isolated from the rest of the crowds, and giggle to your own inside jokes while embracing the scent of the sea breeze mingled with the cool night air.
the clock strikes midnight in the distance, and you whisper in seungcheol’s ears, “happy birthday, cheol-ah.” he laughs softly, his voice hoarse after all the talking of the day. “you’re the first to wish me.” “like always, isn’t it?” you turn on your side to face the man, his arm outstretched and your head lying on his arm, barely touching and yet so, so close. “i’ll always be the first to wish you, cheol-ah. even with a time zone difference.” you almost laugh when you see the way his lips go from a smile to a pout, sadness spreading across his features. “i’ll miss you, sweetheart.” he turns to face you too, his bicep flexing under your cheeks as the two of you face each other and breathe in the same air. under the moonlight, his sharp features look soft, his eyebrows hidden under his bangs.
“can i ask you something?” seungcheol hums, his pout deepening. the impulse burns through your veins. something about how much closer you’ve grown over the last few weeks makes you feel braver. “can i kiss you, seungcheol?” the man in front of you smirks, “i thought you would never ask.”
his lips meet yours halfway and take away any ounce of hesitation from your mind. the first kiss is short, but when you pull away to take a breath, he leans in further, his body coming slightly above you as he tucks you into his arm and deepens the kiss. his other hand cupping your cheeks.
“is this my birthday present?” seungcheol asks you from above you, breathless. you giggle, shy from the proximity. “if you want. did you like it?” “like? fucking loved it, sweetheart. best birthday present ever.”

i want him.
“it’s wonky.” jude pouted dramatically at you through the reflection in the mirror, fingers tugging at the black material of his bow tie. there was a slight tremor in his hands, one you would have missed if you weren’t completely focused on him, and it sent a painful ache through your chest. “why won’t it sit right?”
“c’mere.” setting your lipstick down on the dressing table you made your way across the room, met your boyfriend halfway when he turned around and felt a smile tug the corner of your mouth. despite the wonky tie he looked gorgeous, the white fitted shirt stretched tight across his chest. if this wasn’t such an important event you would’ve dragged him straight back to bed.
the second you stopped in front of him he settled his hands on your waist, large palms warm through the thin material of your dress, fingers pulling you a little closer until only a few inches separated you. there was a glint of excitement in his eyes, paired with a flicker of nervousness and that ever present heat that always lingered when he was looking at you and it made your skin prickle. you shifted a little and raised your hands to fix his tie.
“you have no patience, y’know that?”
“i’ve been trying to fix it for like ten minutes.” he argued, pout still set in place, so ridiculously adorable you just had to press up and kiss it away. jude made a happy noise in the back of his throat. one of his hands smoothed over your lower back and he pulled you even closer, hips flush together.
he watched you work in silence for a few seconds, his gaze heavy as he flickered it over your face, down your neck and even further along the plunge of your dresses neckline. his attention was like the drag of his finger, featherlight but enough to make your heart race with need. you tweaked the material one last time before patting his chest and flashing him a smile.
“all done.” you told him, palms brushing across his shoulders and down his arms, smoothing down his shirt as you went along. or at least that’s what you wanted him to think, really you just wanted to feel him up a little. jude flashed his own smile, quick and full of amusement before he dipped his head and kissed the corner of your mouth.
“m’glad you’re here.” he whispered, nose nudging lovingly against yours before he pressed your foreheads together, eyes falling closed for a second. he hummed happily when he felt your hands against his jaw.
“i wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else.” you mumbled, pushing your own kiss against his lips. ‘i’m proud of you, baby. so proud.” the words made him grin even brighter, eyes crinkling adorably at the corners and you couldn’t stop yourself from pitching forward and smothering his face in kisses.
jude could only laugh, muttering something about getting covered in lipstick marks but he clearly didn’t care enough to make you stop. you only let up when you were sure your lips had met every inch of his face and he knew just how happy you were for him. a final kiss was pressed against his mouth, long and lingering because you didn’t want to pull away.
“i love you, golden boy.” you grinned up at him with those words and watched a shy smile curve his mouth, eyes flashing as he watched you step away from him.
“i haven’t won yet.”
“doesn’t matter. you’ll always be my golden boy whether you have a trophy or not.”

How do they celebrate your birthday
Ruan Mei
In fact, Ruan Mei is not interested in holidays, at least you were able to convince her to celebrate New Year and even Valentine's Day, and you would not be offended if she did not remember your birthday, since the scientist had many more important things to do, but perhaps you didn’t know, Ruan Mei writes down all the important dates on pieces of paper, which then hang on her workplace (usually important meetings and your dates, since she tends to get lost in research).
And as soon as Ruan Mei sees that your birthday is approaching, she will set aside two days (one to prepare and the other to spend the day with you) in which she will try to forget about work. It was difficult the first time, but the longer you are together, the easier it is for her to put aside her work and put you first, which would have seemed impossible a few years ago.
Ruan Mei often listens to you, although from the outside it may seem that she is ignoring you, and she is very observant, so if your eyes suddenly stop at something, she will write it down and add it to the list of potential gifts.
She also loves to give handmade gifts, such as embroidery and a new plant. And what would we do without homemade cake? Ruan Mei will never buy cake from stores, she will find the best ingredients and put all her strength and care into a sweet miracle.
The first time she decided to surprise you was in the morning. And the sight of Ruan Mei with a damn festive pipe could really scare an unprepared person.
But you'd be lying if you said your heart didn't melt every time you woke up with May sitting on the edge of the bed, holding a piece of cake with a small candle.
You wake up from quiet rustling next to you, and the first thought that comes to mind is that your lover is getting ready for work, which is why you whine pitifully and try to reach her hand without opening your eyes.A soft laugh touches your ears and the space next to you drops a little.
Ruan Mei's hand gently touches your face, tucking unruly strands behind your ear. How she wished at that moment she had her phone with her to take a picture of this amazing sight..
"Wake up, honey."
You reluctantly open your eyes and blink a few times to regain your vision. Your eyes widen as she brings the cake almost to your face.
"What is this?"
You slowly get up from your lying position so as not to hit Ruan Mei.
"Isn't it obvious? Today is your birthday."
Ruan Mei smiles as he sees your shock turn to realization. She passes the fragrant piece into your hands and gets out of bed. You see a mug of freshly brewed tea on the nightstand.
"Take your time, enjoy every bite. We have the whole day ahead of us."
Veritas Ratio
Ratio has long considered any holidays a waste of time, especially birthdays. It seems to me that his parents practically did not celebrate their son’s birthday, calling it a meaningless and ridiculous event, and this attitude was passed on to Ratio. Either way, you caught him off guard when you came to his office to wish him a happy birthday. You were friends back then, and the pure joy on your face when you gave him a gift made something click in his head.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, he would not have been able to cope with his conscience if he had not returned the favor.
As much as Veritas did not want to admit it, over time he began to enjoy this holiday. Especially when it's your holiday. Ratio feels real pride when he sees how you rejoice at everything he has prepared for you, and this is not a little.
Veritas starts planning about two weeks before the birthday. He'll take a day off for the two of you, and even if you say it's not necessary, Ratio will just kiss you and tell you to enjoy the holiday. He's the type who wants everything to be perfect and has a list of places you can visit. Of course, he acts based on your preferences. However, if you want to spend the day at home, then you don’t need to hide it, just say or hint, and Ratio will immediately understand.
Only Ratio knows nothing about gifts. A classic gift would include an encyclopedia, a frying pan and flowers and things like that, but it's very good at serving you. For the whole day, Veritas is ready to fulfill all your wishes, do you want to go shopping? or go see that terrible movie you were talking about? Please, today he will not refuse, but the complaints will not stop, although there will be a little less of them.
Ratio doesn't like store-bought cakes, so he usually makes private orders. His attempts to make the cake himself do not end well. He is not at all friendly with baking, so he always baked only with you, and Veritas sincerely does not understand why your sponge cake is so soft and fluffy, while it is more reminiscent of a cast iron alloy.
And most importantly, this is one of the few days when he doesn’t get up at five o’clock in the morning to play sports and prepare for the new day. Instead, he just lays next to you, lovingly watching you press against his body.
You wake up to Veritas' hand playing with your tangled hair while his other hand is used as a pillow. Your cheek rests on his hard chest, covered by his pajamas, and you bury your nose deeper into his shirt, inhaling his scent.
Veritas’s hand flows from your hair first to the bare skin of your shoulder, after which it draws a path to your palm, which sends a shiver through your body. And in that moment, you were grateful that your nightie didn’t have sleeves.
Neither of you said a word, wanting to enjoy a moment of peace where no one would disturb you, especially your annoying colleagues (he made sure to turn off yours phones).
There were no smart thoughts or reflections in his head, and Ratio liked it, you made him understand that there are other joys in life, and he will definitely show his gratitude.
Ratio kissed the top of your head, inhaling the pleasant aroma of shampoo. You let out a hum of satisfaction and met Veritas' gaze. He watched as you, still sleepy, fought the urge to fall asleep again, but despite this, your lips parted to quietly greet the man.
"Good morning, Veri."
Your lover smiles at the nickname and squeezes your hand tighter.
"Good morning, my dear."
Aventurine
Aventurine hates celebrating his birthday, although he has begun to enjoy it with you, but he is looking forward to the day of your coming into this world with great impatience. In fact, he doesn’t even need notes and reminders, Aventurine never forgets things that are important to him, and the birthday of his beloved angel is not just an “ordinary day” as you try to convince a man when he starts to fuss. You can see him so excited only in very rare cases; Aventurine has to restrain himself so as not to shower you with love and gifts ahead of time.
The blonde, despite his bright and pretentious appearance, is not a big fan of parties, he will prefer to celebrate this day in your company and will be glad if you want this too.
Aventurine doesn't like to waste money on small things, he has enough money to, as he likes to say, buy an entire planet, so spending a couple of million won't affect his wallet. Fortunately, you managed to convince him not to spend money on unnecessary things, to put it mildly. He offered to buy you a chocolate fountain with the most serious face possible, and if Aventurine hadn't been so cute, he would have received more than a light blow to the back of the head. Although he will still try to convince you to go shopping to show you the place with the most beautiful outfits and even underwear.
But he always tries to create a gift with his own hands. Aventurine took knitting lessons because you told him how your friend's girlfriend knitted a scarf for him. He suffered for several weeks, but still knitted some semblance of a scarf (he usually knitted at work, and his employees constantly heard the roar and swearing outside the door). But he was so happy when you started wearing it!
One day he decided to create a statue of you for your birthday with his own hands, and, of course, Ratio was to be his teacher. Ratio had to avoid the impudent player for several weeks, who came to his classes and distracted him with his antics. In the end, they settled on a medium-sized statue, because Aventurine would not have been able to make a large one in a short time (and he also did not want to spend all the clay on a three-meter statue).
Aventurine is frankly bad in cooking, especially in baking. You have to watch his every move, because otherwise there will be nothing left of the kitchen. Therefore, Aventurine usually orders a cake from the best candy chefs in the galaxy, sometimes he chooses something unusual, but first of all, Aventurine chooses what you like.
But this does not mean that Aventurine will not surprise you with breakfast in bed. He'll get up as early as possible, careful not to wake you up or step on any cat creatures, and head to the kitchen. Aventurine loves it when you make breakfast together, but he is also a romantic.
You reluctantly open your eyes, squinting because of the bright rays of sunlight penetrating through the curtains. You wanted to raise your hand, a smile appeared on your face when you saw two cat-like creatures pressed against you, one of them laying on your hand, and it was a hopeless situation.
This cute picture quickly faded into the background when something fell in the kitchen with a terrible crash, making you and the two cats jump in surprise. Only now did you realize that your lover was not in bed.
Afraid that he would hurt himself, you gently threw the cats off your body and ran to the kitchen to find out what was going on.
A very funny picture appeared before your eyes: several pots were lying on the floor, broken eggs and puddles of milk decorated the tabletop and pajamas of Aventurine, who was standing near the stove with a cat in his hands. He laughed awkwardly and tried to cover up the horror that was happening on the table.
“Darling, why did you wake up so early?”
His failed attempt to distract you was met with silence and an incredulous look. After a minute, you pulled yourself together and ran towards him.
"Kakawasha, for the sake of the Eons, what happened here?"
Your hands gently touched his cheek, covered with some kind of dirt. The cat in his arms meowed contentedly and pressed himself against Aventurine, who simply shrugged.
“The blackie one wanted to play, and I couldn’t refuse him.”
You shook your head and gently hit Aventurine's forehead, making him wince in slight pain.
"You're such a troublesome guy."
“Hehe happy birthday, love.”

The Trials of Aphrodite Part Three
~ Azriel X Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Series Masterlist
Series summary: Hopelessly in love with Elain, Azriel enlists your help in order to win her over. The only problem? You have been in love with Azriel for as long as you have known him.
Chapter summary: Azriel receives a lesson in flirting.
Warnings: A bit of angsty pining. Teeny bit of suggestiveness.
It was a familiar scene; you staring at Azriel.
And Azriel staring at her.
Want swimming in his hazel eyes as he absorbed Elain's glowing figure as she pottered about in her garden, lips parted in awe as he took in her soft features and natural beauty.
All the while your eyes stayed locked on him. Wonder filling your own gaze as you marveled at the admiration which flowed freely from the male next to you. Azriel's intense stare providing you with an insight into all the love he had to give. A love that would never be reserved only for you. A type of love that he would only ever feel for Elain.
"So how's this going to work?" you ask in an attempt to break Azriel from his lovestruck spell, swallowing your pain as you noticed the love draining from his eyes as he turned his gaze to you.
"I don't know, I was hoping you would tell me what to do" he nervously mumbled, peeking back over the rosebush the two of you were hidden behind to double check that Elain hadn't spotted you.
"Gods this is ridiculous, Az just go over and talk to her!" you exclaimed, your raised voice being met with the anxious shushing of your worrisome friend who was afraid of being caught.
"Gee thanks I wonder why I haven't thought about doing that before. . . It's because I can't!" his sarcastic reply was met with a flat look from you, certain that the only reason Azriel was finding this difficult was because he was the one making it that way.
"Az, how hard can it be? Just compliment her or something!" you sighed, wondering how Azriel could ooze confidence in every aspect of his life apart from when it comes to romance.
"It's not that easy. I've tried. . . look last time I complimented her I asked her if she was the cauldron because I wanted to drown in her eyes" he awkwardly admitted, embarrassed eyes cast to the ground in shame.
"You compared Elain to the cauldron?" you asked unimpressed, astounded at your friend's boundless stupidity, "Elain who quite literally drowned in the cauldron in what was probably the most traumatizing event of her life."
"I didn't say the line worked" Azriel grumbled, not liking the chuckle of disbelief which slipped from your lips at his hopelessness.
"Obviously not, we wouldn't be crouched behind a bush right now if it did" you retorted, unable to stop the fit of giggles which followed as you tried to imagine Azriel's pitiful attempt of flirting backfiring on him.
"Are you going to help me or are you just going to sit there and laugh at me?" Azriel huffed, not sharing in your amusement at his misery.
"Fine, fine. Just go over there and compliment her dress, girls like it when guys notice that kind of thing" you suggest, trying not to turn red as you recall the time when Azriel had first complimented one of your own dresses, having continued to wear it every time you saw him for the next few months with the hope of him praising you again.
"Great, what do I say?" your friend asked, but not before you shoved him right into the heat of the fire by pushing him out from behind the rosebush. Azriel stumbling away from the safety of his hiding spot.
"Azriel? What are you doing here?" Elain's gentle voice called out from where she was stood. A quick flash of Azriel's burning gaze a warning that the two of you would be talking about this later.
"Elain!" Azriel loudly starts as he slowly makes his way towards Elain, his awkward manner already making you cringe in discomfort, "Your dress! it's nice. . . and pink. Nice and pink."
It took everything in you not to hang your head into your palm in shame, finding it incredulous how one person could fail so miserably when it came to talking to someone.
Thankfully, if Elain found his behaviour strange she didn't let on, instead replying to his strange attempt of a compliment with an airy giggle and a polite thank you.
"Great! Well um. . ." your ears perk, brows furrowing in confusion as you wait to see what Azriel says next, "Hope you have a nice day!"
With that Azriel swiftly left, abruptly ending the painfully awkward conversation before leaving the garden, hurriedly making his way up the nearest street in order to escape his discomfort. Chasing after your flustered friend, you followed after him, hoping that Elain hadn't noticed you were also there listening in on their conversation.
"Nice and pink? Have a nice day?" you laughed, having caught up to Azriel, “I’ve met Middengard Wyrm’s that flirt better than you just did." Not failing to miss the dusty pink hue that had blossomed across Azriel’s cheeks in wake of his embarrassment.
“I can flirt,” he swiftly defended, hazel eyes rolling towards the back of his head as he noted the teasing smile which had graced your lips, “I was just caught off guard that’s all.”
“Ah ok, you were caught off guard. Is that the reason why you practically screamed in Elain’s face?” you smirked, working to deepen your friend’s blush until the growing redness spread to his ears.
“I didn’t scream-” Azriel didn’t fail to miss the way your face contorted into a wince at his hopeless denial, his once heated words now converting into a low conscious murmur, “Was it really that bad?”
You stretch out a reassuring hand to come and rest against Azriel’s slumped shoulder, thumb instinctively moving to rub comforting circles into his taut muscle. Eyebrows knitting together in pained sympathy, you answer honestly, “Maybe it was a little pathetic. . .You won't be tending to Elain's garden any time soon if that was anything to go by."
There was no stopping Azriel’s despondent sigh, not even the gentle caress of his shadows against his shaking hands brought the male any solace, the swirling black tendrils failing to sate their master's rising panic as it washed over him.
It was a horrible sight, seeing your friend so dejected. Your heart twinging at the way his anxious breath rattled in his chest. You would offer him your understanding if you could, take his trembling hands into your own and tell Azriel that you were all too familiar with the feeling of getting tongue tied around the person you so longed for. Yet no confession of your shared failures in the romance department would fix this, not when Azriel was the one who owned your heart. Not when you had promised him help in winning over another.
And so you didn’t share your hidden truth with the male, instead opting to lock it away into the darkest depths of your heart. It was a secret you were willing to keep forever, so only to ensure the happiness of your friend. A secret you would carry with you to your grave if Azriel’s plan goes as intended.
Instead you offer Azriel the only thing you could; your comfort. The supportive hand which had been resting on his shoulder now travelling down his arm. His shadows parting briefly to allow you to lock your fingers with his own, the smoky wisps resuming their soothing dance once your hands were comfortably entwined.
One touch. That was all it took to pull Azriel from the wave of panic that had consumed him. The familiar touch of your palm against his own enough to steady his uneven breaths and calm his shaking hands.
"Its ok," you promise, confident gaze meeting his own uncertain stare, "you've not ruined anything. All you need is a little more confidence and she'll be under your spell. Trust me, one flirty little one liner from you and it will be impossible for her to be anything but in love."
"I can manage one I suppose" Azriel attempts to agree confidently yet his words read more like a question, removing his hand from your own to ruffle his hair in thought.
"Maybe you could ask Lucien for tips, Feyre tells me he's quite the flirt'' you tease, hoping the mention of Lucien's name would spur on Azriel's desire to act on his feelings for Elain.
"I don't need help when it comes to flirting, and certainly not from him" he grit the words through his teeth having predictably taken the bait you had laid out for him.
"Hmm I'm not sure, your skills were a little lacklustre from what I could see" you continue to goad him, each prod and poke working to build your friends confidence bit by bit.
"Lacklustre?" Azriel scoffed in disbelief, all anxiety having been drained from his eyes and replaced with the spark of a challenge.
"You wouldn't have me swooning" you shrug casually, mouth twisting into a playful smirk at Azriel's displeasure.
“No?” Azriel asked in faux surprise, the male taking a slow step towards you, “not even if I did this?”
A gentle push of the tips of Azriel's fingers against the exposed skin of your chest found you stumbling backwards until you were pressed against the wall. Your teasing smile fading as your shock consumed you, heart fluttering as Azriel's arms came to cage you on either side. “Or this?” he continued, leaning in close enough that the warmth of his breath against your neck began to send shivers down your spine. Your knees wobbling at the intensity of his gaze.
“I thought flirting included words?” you breathed out heavily, trapped under the heat of his gaze.
“Why use words when I could take you apart with less than that?” he lowly whispered into your ear, a glint of darkness in his eyes as a cruel smirk appeared on his lips. You found yourself speechless, entranced by the playfulness of his devilishly handsome features, your deep breaths falling in time with his own as he witnessed your stunned reaction to his words.
"I think Elain will find my flirting perfectly adequate" he smiled, shattering the moment as he mentioned the woman that he truly wished was captured between his arms. Reminding you that his flirtacious quip wasn't for you; it was for her.
"Maybe that's a bit much Az" you state sourly, moving your hand to his chest in order to push him away and slip under his outstretched arm, "I don't know how well Elain will take it if you come on that strong."
"You didn't seem to mind" he answered cheerfully, failing to notice your sudden change in mood, the male still trying to continue his teasing banter.
"I think you'll find there's more to women than just sex and physical attraction" you scoffed, desperately wanting nothing more than to move on from this conversation. Yet Azriel wouldn't provide you with that mercy, his next question almost enough to make you sick.
"What would you say then? To someone you loved, someone you pined after?"
You debated not answering him, dismissing his curiosity to spare you from the pain and embarrassment that would no doubt ensue. Yet a small part of you wondered if this would be your only chance. That perhaps you had the wrong idea, locking away your feelings, maybe all you needed was to get them off your chest. To lift the weight from your shoulders, allow yourself to finally move on from the male who would never be interested in you.
So you took the leap, looking your fear in the face as you stared into Azriel's expectant eyes.
And you confessed.
"I would tell him the truth. Tell him how not a day passes where I don't feel madly, uncontrollably in love with him. That any moment I'm not near him I find myself unable to breathe, unable to be satisfied until I am in his company. And I'd tell him that loving him makes me a fool, that I would never fail to sacrifice my happiness if only to see him smile. That love has made me it's servant and I am all too willing to bow before it."
"Sounds to me like you're an expert in love" Azriel answered after a thoughtful pause, a flicker of a smile working its way onto his face.
"I don't think I know what love is" you replied, still waiting for the moment of relief to come, failing to understand that it was a gift you would never receive.
"Nonsense, he's a lucky guy. I'm sure he feels for you as deeply as you do for him" Azriel cheerfully reassured you, looking absolutely delighted by the prospect of you being in love with someone. Completely unaware that he was the male you were speaking of. That he was the person you would struggle to live without.
And as you shook away the consoling shadow which had tentatively approached you, you wondered if your heart would ever be free from the chains of Azriel's own design.

STUCK🔥
part 1
matt sturniolo x fem reader (no use of y/n)
(anyone else is green )
warnings: SMUT 18+ (part two will be major smut this is the warm up🫣)
summary: you and your friend matt are arguing while coming back from a event and are faced with heightened tensions when the elevator of the hotel gets stuck…
authors note: i was INSPIRED by the sam & colby colab i had IDEAS. so this is gonna be a 2 part!! and guys just roll w me — let’s pretend matt wouldn’t be in fetal position crying if an elevator fr got stuck.
word count: 2,060
—————————————————————————
you fussed with the back of your dress desperately trying to reach for its zipper. bodycon dresses like this should’ve been used for torture. finally giving up on completing the task alone, you banged on the door to the adjoining room.
your best friend matt had asked you to be his plus one to a party for one of the various influencer acquaintances of him and his brothers. chris and nick had other plans for the night, and there was no way matt would ever go to any social event alone. so he’d asked you to join. plus he knew you’d love getting all dressed up and even getting to spend the night at a nice hotel covered by the party host.
“WHAT?” shouted matt from the other side of the door
“MAAAATTT i can’t get my dress zipped! help!” you whined back continuing to pound your fist against the frame.
“Okay—just a second”
you jiggled the door handle, impatiently. it swung open to a flustered half ready matt. his soft brown locks were tousled in front of his eyes. he was wearing a white button up, but had only managed to button a couple of the lower ones in his rushed state, exposing his lean and muscular chest. your eyes haphazardly glanced down.
“going for a new slutty look?” you mocked
“oh shut up. you have the patience of a two year old” he shot back as he buttoned the rest of his shirt. you snorted.
“well” he said raising his eyebrows at you
“turn around”
you spun your back to him as his fingers snapped up your zipper.
“thank youuu” you said turning around with a smile. matt’s gaze trailed down from your face and over your figure that was hugged tightly by the black sparkly fabric that stopped only inches below your waist.
“what?” you laughed, confused by his quietness.
“oh-uh-nothing-“ he stuttered, turning away to grab his tie
“am i dressed wrong?”
“no-no you-you look really great” he said with a half smile.
“cmon let’s head out i’ll call us a car”
the party was loud and ridiculously flashy. Matt mingled with people he knew while you stuck a few feet behind. most of the people at events like this had no interest in talking to a no one like you. over an hour had passed and you were just about to ask matt when was a socially acceptable time to head out when you felt someone tap your shoulder. you turned around to see a tall man smiling down at you.
“so why did no one tell me about the competition to bring the prettiest date?” he asked
“the—what?” you stuttered
“i’m joking! but whoever brought you tonight would’ve won”
“oh—thank you?” you felt your cheeks flush slightly
“so who did?” he questioned with a smirk
“i’m sorry?”
“bring you here tonight? who’s your date”
“oh! oh matt did! but not date im just his friend” you nervously giggled
“so what im hearing is your not spoken for?” you had to admit this man was charming and the first interesting thing since being at this party, so you figured what was the harm in entertaining him. as you continued to make flirtatious small talk you felt eyes on you. you whipped around to see matt from a nearby corner staring at you, clearly paying no attention to the two girls talking at him. you gave him a smile, but his blank expression didn’t waiver. it struck you as weird, but you figured he was probably just zoning out.
about 45 minutes of flirting had quickly changed from fun to monotonous. you were preparing to excuse yourself to “go to the bathroom” when a tight grip latched onto your upper arm.
“I wanna leave” matt said flatly in your ear
“wha—oh okay” matt headed for the door, leaving you behind. you said a rushed goodbye and chased after him.
“matt—wait!” he stopped and turned to look at you.
“what the hell?” you said catching up
“didn’t know if you were coming. cars almost here”
matt’s jaw was visibly clenched in the dim lighting of the car. he stared straight ahead not speaking. it was only about a 6 minute drive to the hotel but it felt like a eternity. the hotel lobby was empty as it was past 2 in the morning.
“what’s wrong?” you finally asked as the elevator door shut behind the two of you.
“nothings wrong”
“bullshit. you’re acting weird”
“nope. guess i’m just tired” he said still refusing to look at you
“no i know you and you—“ you were cut off by the sound of your phone going off
“that your new friend from the party?” matt snarked
“my what? what are you talking about?”
“that guy who was all over you”
“guy—is that what’s making you act all weird?—“ suddenly the floor beneath you jolted. the elevator had stopped moving.
“you gotta be fucking kidding me” matt muttered
“did the elevator just break?”
“fucking perfect” he said with an exasperated laugh. you frantically began pressing the help button.
“Hello front desk—“
“Hi—yeah—um the elevator is stuck—“
“Hi ma’am—yes we’re aware—my apologies maintenance has been informed”
“How soon will they be here?”
“within a half hour—“
“A HALF HOUR?”
“I’m so sorry miss, we send the majority of staff home around midnight. were handling this best we can—“
“Okay. I understand. just please as soon as possible”
you backed up to lean against the wall where matt had already settled. silence again.
“well you’re stuck with me now” you attempted to joke
“yup” matt said coldly
“matt seriously? do you have a history with that guy or something”
“it’s not the guy thats my problem”
“oh so what? i’m the problem”
“i didn’t say that—“
“well you implied it—can you look at me?” you snapped. matt turned his face to you.
“i don’t like watching some guy all over you okay—”
“I had no idea that you cared about that sorta thing i mean girls are all over you—“
“of course I fucking care—“
“but why—“ your sentence was halted by matt’s right hand harshly grabbing your waist and his left hand holding onto your cheek, pulling your body flush to his and your faces only a sliver apart.
“because tell me you haven’t felt anything between us. and i’ll stop right now if you do and forget this ever happened. tell me you don’t feel anything for me right now.” he said in a gravely whisper, the warm air of his breath caressing your lips. your eyes flitted back and forth across his that starred hungrily at your lips, pupils blown. without thinking you smashed your lips against his, closing the little space left between you. matt froze for a second before passionately joining you in the kiss. his hand wrapped around to your back, pulling you impossibly closer to him as the other latched itself into your hair. your tongues began to entwine with one and other, battling for dominance. Matt pulled gently on your lower lip with his teeth, before unlocking his lips with yours. you stared up at him breathlessly, not wanting to have stopped. he smirked at the slightly helpless expression on your face before using his grip in your hair to tug your head back to expose your neck. he lowered his lips to give you a sloppy warm kiss on your delicate skin. you let out a soft sigh and matt took this moment of weakness as an opportunity to push you up against the back wall. he continued to pull and kiss at your neck and collar bone, his hands digging into the skin around your hips. heat had began to form between your legs and you let out an involuntary moan as matt bit down on your flesh. one of your legs wrapped around his. he inhaled sharply and looked back up at you.
“careful—you might start something you don’t mean to” he panted
“i know exactly what i wanna start” you whispered before pulling him by his tie back to your lips. you rolled your hips up against him.
“oh you’re in for it now” he groaned against your mouth, pressing his crotch against you. your dress had now pathetically rolled up almost to your hipbones. matt pressed his clothed bulge between your legs, creating friction against your now exposed thong. you were practically dripping at the feeling. his strong hands slid down to your bare ass cheeks and squeezed the plush flesh as he continued to grind himself against you. soft sounds of pleasure tumbled from your mouth.
“your moans are even sexier then i imagined” he huffed against your neck
“yeah? you like hearing me moan for you, matty?” you whispered, wrapping your arms around his neck
“just hearing you does something to me”
“what does it do to you?” you said innocently. he lifted his head to look you in the eye. he moved one of his hands from your ass on top of your own delicate smaller hand which he then guided down his own torso. the two of you panting like wild animals against each other at the insufferable tension as your hand got lower and lower.
“why don’t you find out for yourself” he whispered as your hand finally reached his covered crotch. your eyes still locked to his, you pressed your palm against his hard on. the feeling of his size alone sent tingles through your body. he moaned at the contact. you repeated the motion. his eyes rolled back into his head. watching him like this was addictive.
“fuck—feels so good—“ he sighed out
“been hard all night cause of you”
“you have?”
“second i saw you in that dress all i could think about was fucking you”
“you thought about fucking me?” you teased. matt grabbed your wrist.
“all the time.” his eyes trailed down your heaving chest to your slightly parted legs, the delicate lace of your thong just visible. he let go of your wrist and ran his fingers from your hip over the top of your thigh to the waist band of your underwear and halted.
“you ever thought about fucking me”
“maybe” you teased, still trying to keep some composure. he lowered his touch expertly to your clit. you bit your lip.
“do you ever touch yourself when you think about me” matt began to drag his finger tips up and down your barely covered slit.
“sometimes”
“does it make you wet” he began to pull the fabric of your thong to the side. you let out a gasp as the cool air hit your exposed folds. you nodded slightly
“nuh uh. i wanna hear you say it.”
“say what”
“tell me i make you wet.“
“you make me so wet matt— i want you so bad—-“
“good girl” he said giving you a light kiss
“and good girls get rewarded” he hummed against your lips as he began to push two fingers into your leaking entrance. you let out a loud moan as you felt his digits begin to rhythmically penetrate your core. you clawed at his flexed biceps
“oh—god—matt—“ you whined
“you like that, beautiful?” he cooed into your ear
“so fucking much” matt began to pick up the pace. you felt a knot in the pit of your stomach start to form.
“shit—i’m close—“ right as the words tumbled from your lips the floor beneath you jolted once more. you and matt shared a panicked look as you both scrambled to collect yourself as the elevator retook its motion. you frantically yanked your dress back down just in time for the doors to slide back open. a hotel employee greeted you
“I am so incredibly sorry about this my sincere apologies. We’ll be comping a part of your stay—“
“oh really it’s fine. we weren’t paying for ourselves to begin with” you brushed off
“still if there’s any way we can make this up to you. let me assist you back to your rooms-what’re the numbers?“ he said hurrying down the hall. you opened your mouth to answer but felt matt yank at your list
“were both in 611, actually” matt barked. you raised an eyebrow at him.
“oh im not done with you yet.”

As you leave - Lewis Hamilton
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part of 1K Jukebox Event
song: As you leave - Canaan Cox
pairing: Lewis Hamilton x Reader!
genre: fluff (tooth rotting fluff)
wordcount: +1k
As always, I'm open for feedback, come say hi!
______________________________________________________________
It’s funny how something as simple as a word—husband—can shift everything.
Like a door clicked shut, not locking me in, but keeping the rest of the world out. Suddenly, this wasn’t just us playing house; this was us, forever, without the 'what ifs.
Waking up that morning, I felt it—the quiet shift in the air, the weight of it, the awareness that life as I knew it was different, not in a sharp, jarring way, but like the slow turning of a page.
I’d opened my eyes to the familiar warmth of Lewis beside me, the feel of his skin, his breath in rhythm with mine. The word floated around in my mind, sticking in a way that made me stop and take it all in.
This was real. This was my life now.
We had spent the last couple of nights entangled in each other, nights that seemed to stretch beyond the usual limits of time, like we both knew it had to mark the start of something new.
We'd done it so many times before, but last night...it felt different. It wasn’t about novelty, or even lust—though God knows there was plenty of that.
There was something grounding in the way we touched—like every movement wasn’t just physical, but a promise. It wasn’t about learning each other anymore; it was about being sure.
I was tired, in the best possible way. And yet, here I was, wide awake. Not in any hurry, not driven by some need to get up or get going. Because now, we had all the time in the world.
It’s funny, really—how everything feels the same but somehow, it’s not.
There's a weight to marriage, the kind that settles you in place, makes you look at your partner and know that they aren’t just another person you’re sharing a life—they’re also your home.
Lewis’s arm was slung over my waist, holding me close, like if he let go, I’d vanish.
I smiled to myself, tracing lazy circles on his skin. Husband. The word still felt foreign, like I was trying on someone else’s clothes.
I glanced over at him, his face still buried in the pillow, soft breaths fanning across my shoulder. How was it that he could look so peaceful, yet still so ridiculously attractive, even while sleeping?
I could just stare at him for hours, and some mornings, I would.
I wanted to laugh at how utterly smitten I was—like a teenager who’d just had her first kiss.
But there was nothing teenage about this love.
I shifted a little, not enough to wake him but enough to revel in the soreness I felt. I just wanted to look at him a little more, memorize the way the morning sun kissed his skin, the way his lashes rested so peacefully against his cheeks.
And maybe steal a few extra seconds before reality barged back in. Not that we had much of that to worry about out here.
We were on an island, in the middle of nowhere, no responsibilities, no schedules, nothing… just us.
And there was this quietness, this peace that came with knowing I had Lewis all to myself. Just a lazy morning in bed, wrapped in sheets and warmth, like the rest of the world didn’t exist.
“I can feel you staring at me, you know,” his voice was rough, groggy, but it was enough to send a flutter through my chest.
Caught.
I smirked, not bothering to move. “Maybe I just like looking at my husband. Sue me.”
“Keep looking at me like that, and I’ll have to keep you in this bed all day” he murmured, tightening his grip on me, pulling me even closer. I could feel the solidness of his chest pressed against my back, his lips brushing the back of my neck.
My heart stuttered at the warmth of his words, but I couldn’t resist teasing him. “Promises, promises” I shot back, turning my head just enough to see his sleepy grin.
"Morning, Mrs. Hamilton" he murmured when he saw me looking at him, voice gravelly from sleep, that smile I loved playing at his lips as he leaned down to kiss my shoulder.
“Mmm,” I hummed against the skin on his arm. “Two days in and you’re already using the title. Bold.”
“It’s official, isn’t it?” he mused, rolling me slightly so he could look at me properly, his eyes crinkling with that same look of complete adoration he’s had since the day we met. "Feels like a long time coming."
I stretched, playfully kicking my legs out from under the sheets. “I’ve been stuck with you for years, it’s not like anything’s changed.”
He raised an eyebrow. “It sure felt different last night.”
And there it was, the easy banter that was us.
I felt myself grow warmer, a reminder of way his touch still burned my skin even now. “We’re pros at this point.”
“Not the same” he smirked, eyes scanning me with that familiar hunger I’d become so used to. “Not as husband and wife”
I rolled my eyes, swatting at his chest, but my grin gave me away. “Okay, okay, fine”
Lewis chuckled softly, pulling me closer as his hand traced light circles on my bare back.
The softness of his touch always surprised me, as if he had the power to both break and rebuild me with just a graze of his fingertips. It wasn’t urgent, like before. It was slower, more deliberate, like we had all the time in the world now to just... be.
And in a way, we did.
“It does feels different, though, doesn’t it?” I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper, surprising myself with the admission. “Being married”
His thumb brushed over my cheek, his eyes locking onto mine. “It does”
I blinked, trying to put into words what had been swirling in my mind all morning. “I mean, we've been doing this for so long. Living together, traveling together. But waking up today… I don’t know, it just feels real.”
He nodded, his lips brushing against my forehead as if sealing the thought. “I get it. I feel it too. We’re locked in.”
I snorted, the sarcasm coming out of me before I could stop it. “Well, ‘locked in’ sounds a little ominous.”
He laughed, his chest vibrating under my head. “You know what I mean, smartass. We’ve crossed that line, for good”
“We did” I echoed, feeling the weight of it in the best possible way.
It was true—there was no rush, no ticking clock. No matter what came next, no matter how crazy life got with his schedule or mine, this... this was ours.
I propped myself up on my elbow, looking down at him. “So, what’s the plan for today, husband?” I dragged the word out, watching the way his face lit up every time I used it.
He shrugged, his hand still tracing those soothing circles on my back. “Unless you’ve got better plans, I was thinking we could stay right here.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “We’re in paradise, and you want to stay in bed?” I gestured to the beautiful villa around us, the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore just outside the window.
Lewis smirked, pulling me back down on top of him. “This view, right here, is pretty great.”
I rolled my eyes, though I couldn’t help the smile that spread on my lips.
The way he looked at me, like I was the only thing in the world that mattered, never got old. Even after all these years, even after all the ups and downs, he still looked at me like I hung the moon.
He chuckled, the sound rumbling deep in his chest. “We can explore tomorrow. Today, it’s all about this…” He pressed a kiss to my shoulder. “And this…” Another kiss, this time to the curve of my neck.
I sighed, already lost in him, in the warmth of his skin against mine, the way he always knew how to make me feel like the only woman in the world.
I cupped his face in my hands, pulling him down toward me again, kissing him slowly, deeply, like I was grounding myself in him. Because I was.
“I’m not going anywhere,” I whispered against his lips, smiling as I saw the flicker of contentment in his eyes.
“Good,” he said, resting his forehead against mine. “Because all I need is more of you”
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t help the smile that tugged at my lips. “That’s a bit dramatic”
“Maybe,” he grinned, kissing me again, this time slower, more deliberate.
“If you insist, I suppose I can clear my schedule.” I sighed dramatically, his lips still almost touching mine.
“Generous” he murmured, lips grazing the side of my head.
We laid there in comfortable silence for a few moments, the kind of silence only years of being together could create. No need for constant chatter, no rush to fill the space with words.
Just us, in the moment, married and completely content.
“Hey,” Lewis said after a while, his voice soft but serious. “Thank you.”
“For?” I asked, tilting my head to look up at him.
“Staying. Through all of it.” His hand brushing at my cheeks, his touch tender. “I know it’s not always easy.”
I felt my heart swell, the emotion catching me off guard. “You’re worth it.”
He smiled, leaning down to kiss me again, his lips warm and familiar. “Here’s to forever, then.”
I smiled against his lips, feeling the weight of those words settle around us like a warm blanket. “Forever it is.”

Noticing Mingi's persistent gaze fixed on you yet again that evening, you frowned and nudged his shoulder, whispering sternly, "Quit staring at me and mingle with your coworkers! It's impolite to ignore them. Take advantage of this chance to network, for heaven's sake."
Your boyfriend had eagerly brought you along as his date to his company's annual dinner, eager to finally introduce you after enduring endless teasing from his colleagues for always attending solo. Despite the opportunity to establish connections with influential figures ranging from high-ranking executives to international affiliates, he found himself unable to leave your side.
Extending his hand under the table to clasp yours, he leaned in and slyly murmured in your ear, "But darling, how can I possibly take my eyes off you when you look so irresistibly stunning tonight, hm?"
"Behave yourself, Song Mingi."
As those around you began to shoot knowing glances at both of you, you felt a blush creeping up your cheeks. While you weren't usually one to shy away from public displays of affection, this wasn't just any place—it was Mingi's work event. You felt it important for him to maintain a professional impression among his colleagues.
With a smirk, he tightened his grip on your hand, planting a mischievous peck on your cheek, "And what if I refuse to?"
"Don't be ridiculous," You scoffed, lightly swatting his hand away and pushing him back by the chest, though it wasn't easy given his towering size and strength. Deciding it might be best for him to give his coworkers some attention, you sent the people at your table a polite smile before excusing yourself, "I'm just going to freshen up. Please keep an eye on him for me."
They chuckled at your jest, assuring you as you rose from your seat, a hand on your boyfriend's shoulder as you passed behind him. Leaning down, you whispered in his ear, "Listen to me and be a good boy, perhaps you'll be rewarded when we return home."
You didn't need to look at him to sense the warmth creeping up his cheeks. You could hear his colleagues laughing, likely teasing him for being so whipped. Suppressing your giggles, you made your way to the nearest washroom to touch up your makeup. With the dinner drawing to a close, you dared to utter those suggestive words, relying on the fact that it was almost over. You just needed him to behave a little longer. Maybe that would serve as good motivation.
Or so you hoped.
To your surprise, when you walked out of the facilities, Mingi was nowhere to be found. You let out a sigh of disbelief when you realised he wasn't in his seat. There went the chance you wanted to give him to socialise, "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
As you reached into your purse for your phone to text him, you gasped when your actions were abruptly halted by a pair of arms wrapping around you from behind. It was only when you registered the familiar scent of your boyfriend's cologne that you relaxed. However, your calmness didn't last long as you remembered your surroundings. It wouldn't be appropriate if any of his colleagues were to turn around and notice the back hug he was giving you.
"Stop it, Mingi—"
You froze when you felt his face right beside yours, his breath brushing against your cheek as he spoke in his famous low voice, "You're so cruel to me, you know that? How do you expect me to remain professional after that stunt you pulled, darling? As if you haven't already been seducing me all night."
Protesting, you attempted to free yourself from his embrace, "I was not—" but your words caught in your throat when he pressed his lips against a sensitive spot on your neck, sending an immediate shiver down your spine and weakening your knees.
"Say what you like, princess. But we're leaving now," He declared, finally releasing his arms from around you. Without delay, he firmly secured your hand in his and led you out of the hall. Sensing your resistance, he quickly reassured, "Don't worry, I've informed them we're leaving early due to an emergency at home."
"Huh? What kind of emergency?" Your brows furrowed with concern.
He grinned, casting a glance back at you over his shoulder, "I'm in desperate need of that reward you promised, darling."

chapter 5
pairing: hoshina soshiro x f! reader
genre: romance, angst
wc: 5k
summary: you've loved soshiro since you were seven. he will always place his duty above you.
chapt 1 / chapt 2 / chapt 3 / chapt 4 / chapt 5
Tumblr media
There is much to speak about, so much to talk about. Hoshina Soshiro says that he loves you, and you’re not sure what that truly means for you, but your brother’s wedding is not the time to discuss all of that.
“We should get back. Someone’s going to come looking for us.”
He grips you tighter. “Let them”, he declares, cheeky grin warm against your mouth. “Stay out here with me tonight.”
“C’mon, we can’t stay here for too long.” You forcibly extract yourself from the tangle of his arms, and he whines, a needy child deprived of his favourite toy. “Oh gods, there’s lipstick on your mouth”, you exclaim in horror.
“Leave it”, he dodges your attempts at dabbing him with tissue.
“Don’t be ridiculous, if you appear back inside looking like this, people will talk -”
“Let them talk”, he says, smirking shamelessly. “I want everyone to know.”
“Absolutely not”, you snap, pulling at his collar to get him close enough for you to clean him up, but he just uses the opportunity to capture your mouth again. It’s preposterous, the way he manages to turn your brain into mush with just the press of his lips. You have to scrabble at your last remaining brain cell to regroup your train of thought.
“Soshiro!” you squeal, swatting at him. “Stop it!”
“Fine, fine”, he laughs boyishly. The sound sends another wave of helpless affection in your stomach, but you strengthen your resolve and rub all evidence of - of what you’ve been up to, well, before, off of his mouth.
“You’re ridiculous”, you say, throwing his haori off your shoulders, shoving it into a ball against his chest.
“Ridiculously in love with you”, he quips, and you groan at his cheesiness.
“C’mon”, you push yourself onto your feet, balancing precariously on your crutches. “Let’s get back before anyone finds us out here.”
He grumbles in protest when you point blank refuse to allow him to princess carry you back into the ballroom. You will not let him make a scene at your brother’s wedding. It’s already manifestly obvious to anyone with eyes what you’ve both been up to, his hair a dark, tousled mess, his bottom lip red and swollen - and you suppose you mirror him, though you don’t dare to check.
You try to insist on entering the ballroom separately, but he keeps his hand on the small of your back. It’s a good thing that you left at the tail-end of the wedding when all scheduled events are over, making your disappearance less conspicuous, but his lean, lithe figure never fails to turn heads, especially when he follows you back to your seat like a shadow, delivering you back to your parents with a promise that he’ll be back.
You want to melt under the table as your younger cousin's jaws’ drop simultaneously.
“Is he your boyfriend?” they demand, clambering over each other to interrogate you.
“We’re friends”, you insist.
It’s not a lie. You haven’t had the chance to scope out what all of this means, where exactly you stand, what he wants from you, but from the way his shoulders stiffen, his gaze resting heavy on your back even as dessert is served, you know he’s chomping at the bit to exhibit his disagreement with your statement in a very visible way.
“No”, you mouth at him when you manage to get everyone’s attention off you.
‘You just wait’, he mouths back, folding his arms, sticking his tongue out at you.
You are glad he manages to behave himself until the festivities are over and you’ve completed your remaining duty to stand by your parents and thank each and every guest for their attendance at your brother’s weddings. His parents smile warmly at you, his mother even holding up the line of exiting guests to invite you out to dinner with them - ‘an opportunity to eat some good unagi’, she says, looking inordinately pleased with herself, your parents looking on and nodding indulgently.
“Nauseating”, Sochiro pretends to retch. “My little brother’s been staring at you all night.”
“The toilet’s that way if you’ve had too much to drink”, you call after him sweetly. His mother drags him away by his ear.
You know Soshiro’s approaching you when your cousins’ eyes threaten to bug out of their sockets. “May I steal her away?” he asks your parents, hand flat against your back, electricity zipping up your spine.
“I’m busy - “ you try to ward him off with an excuse, but your parents wave you off.
“I’ll take care of her from here”, he says solemnly, a promise.
“I’m being kidnapped”, you inform your parents, whose only reaction is to blithely tell you both to have fun and stay safe. You’re glad he doesn’t make more of a scene in front of everyone, but he still can’t resist sweeping you up into his arms once the doors to the ballroom close behind you. “Where are we going?!” you shriek, as he slides you into a waiting car in the lobby, his family’s driver handing the keys over to him.
“We’re going somewhere private so I can convince you that we’re not just friends’, he replies, winding the car through the brightly lit streets of the city.
You huff, head rolling against the headrest. “You know I only said that because -”
“-’cos you’re embarrassed?”
“Absolutely not”, you snap, sitting up straight. “Anyone with a working brain could never be embarrassed of being associated with you -”, you break off as he starts grinning. “You’re just fishing for a compliment now, aren’t you -”
“Oh no, no”, he laughs, turning the car out of the city into the quieter, residential suburbs where his family’s resided for generations. “But please, feel free to keep goin’ on, I rather like hearing you sing my praises -”
“You’re incorrigible”, you fold your arms.
“Yeah”, he replies, reaching over to hold your hand. “But that’s what you love about me, isn’t it?”
You squeeze his hand in reply.
He stops the car at a park, where you and he used to play when you were children, the metal frame of the playground corrugated and rusting but still standing, sturdy enough to hold your weight as he settles you against it. You’re grateful that there’s just a lone street lamp illuminating the playground, the light amber and low, hiding the heat in your cheeks when he leans in close enough for you to see count each crinkle at the corner of his eyes.
“So”, he says huskily. “Are we really just friends?”
Your first instinct is to run far away from him (if your legs would hold up), because the truth is, you’re scared. You don’t know what the future has in store for you both. You don’t know if he can do his duty while leaving space in his life for you, especially if you’re still going to be in Osaka for the foreseeable future, more than three hundred miles away.
But life’s too short for you to be governed by fear. You hammer your spine straight.
“When I was - in a coma”, he makes a noise of distress in his throat, shifting to hover protectively over you, “I had - I’m not quite sure what it was, really - and I know this sounds like I’m going crazy, but I’m not, I promise -”
“Go on”, he urges, hand on your hip to steady you.
You tell him about the girl with sad eyes who loved the boy with midnight hair. You tell him how, in every lifetime, it’s the boy’s destiny to only live for his duty, the girl’s fate to live with a broken heart.
“It scares me”, you say. “It makes me wonder if there is any hope for us.”
He stays quiet for a while. It’s a relief that he doesn’t laugh at you, but when he lapses into silence, you can hear the beat of your heart in your throat. You open your mouth to downplay your words, suddenly anxious that you’ve said too much, he must think you’ve lost your mind, but Soshiro finally speaks, his words slow and measured.
“I won’t deny that I’ve always put my duty first my entire life”, he replies. “And I can’t promise that I’ll ever stop. It’s my duty to use my skills to hunt kaijus, just like my ancestors who’ve come before me.”
You nod. “I don’t expect you to stop doing any of that.”
“I know you don’t”, he says, his fingers slotting between yours, bringing your joined hands up to his lips. “That doesn’t mean I can’t do my duty while doin’ right by you”, he says, voice so thick with sincerity that you have to catch your breath. “Give me a chance to show you I can do both.”
“Let’s both do our best”, you say against his mouth.
He kisses you again and again, as if sealing his promise with his lips.
Tumblr media
The distance between Osaka and Tokyo remains an obstacle to his promise.
He tries his best, continues to visit you on his days off from work, takes you out on dates, outings to cafes where you both talk for hours on end, activities when your legs are finally mended enough to carry your weight without aid. He keeps in touch with you when he’s away, sends you bubbles of his thoughts in between training and patrols, funny videos that he thinks you might like.
When the doctors finally clear you, you decide to meet him halfway. “I’m moving back to Tokyo”, you tell him over a call. There’s nothing but static for a while, before you hear him give a huge whoop. It leaves you grinning for days.
Your job’s still waiting for you when you move back. The transition from convalescence to full-time physical activity overwhelms you at first, even when your physiotherapist gives you the greenlight. Your legs still feel like jelly, muscle mass dissipated from your long period of inactivity, but Soshiro sends you his encouragement, texts you his suggestions for exercises to rebuild your strength. Your colleagues rally around you, giving you the confidence to pick up your hammer and tongs again.
Your parents drive you and your pots of plants back to Tokyo, where you secure a little apartment in a quiet neighbourhood, nicely situated near Izumo Tech, not too far away from Tachikawa base. They’re overly eager to get you out of their house, though they deny it when you sourly point it out.
“We just want to make sure you and Hoshina-kun get to see each other more”, they tell you.
“My parents are throwing me at your head”, you inform him via text.
He sends you a laughing emoji. “My mother’s planning our wedding. She’s convinced that Sochiro’s a hopeless case, so I’m her only shot at seein’ one of her sons married off.”
You snort, shaking your head. His mother had indeed made such comments all throughout the unagi dinner she hounded Soshiro into bringing you. You’ve known the family since you were a child, but you still harboured worries that they might think you fall short of their son. Your family’s worked with his for generations, but the Hoshina clan is wealthy, well established, not like your family’s working class roots.
But your worries are unfounded, because she forces you to take the fattest slices of unagi, much to the disgust of Sochiro, who was also threatened into attendance, scolds Soshiro’s father when he tries to talk shop with you, tersely reminding the men of her family that she wants ‘one dinner where the family can talk about something non-kaiju related, so she can finally get to know her future daughter-in-law she’s been waiting her whole life for’.
You want to sink under the table and combust at the same time. Soshiro mirrors your expression.
Sochiro glares. “Why does everyone think I’m incapable of findin’ someone.”
His mother smiles serenely, patting his hand. “Cos you’re you, m’dear. And that’s quite alright.”
You and Soshiro burst into laughter at Sochiro’s expression of disgust.
Tumblr media
It’s not as if your relationship with Soshiro is smooth-sailing, even when you’ve moved to Tokyo. Your fears haunt you still, especially when he has to blow off some of your dates, occasionally going a week without seeing you because of work. And even when you get him to yourself, his work has a pesky way of getting between you.
He’s mouthing your name into the hollow of your throat, hand on your hip slipping into your waistband. He’s right where you want him - perhaps he could be moving a little faster, but then his phone buzzes and he immediately rolls off you.
“Duty calls”, he tells you. “I’m really sorry.”
“It’s fine”, you say, though you stay on your bed staring at your ceiling for a good half hour after he leaves.
It’s difficult to keep those ugly insecurities in check, and they eat at you, a festering wound that gnaws away at your insides, but you’re reluctant to raise your unhappiness. Your time with Soshiro is so limited, and you don’t want to come across as ungrateful or insecure.
But it’s impossible to hide anything from Soshiro.
“It’s obvious you’re unhappy”, he says, looping his arm around you when you next meet. “Talk to me.”
“It’s a waste of time -”
“No it isn’t”, he cuts in, cupping your face in warm, steady hands. “I always wanna listen to what you have to say.”
“Always?”, you say, burying your face in his shoulder. “That’s a bold claim.”
“That’s a promise”, he says with a chuckle. “So, spill.”
It takes the edge off your fear and unhappiness when you bring them out into the sun. You feel better with your gripes out in the open, acknowledged by Soshiro. To his credit, he really tries his best, and it’s the effort he puts into you appreciate. He schedules his weapon checks to coincide with your lunch breaks, just so you can spend a few more precious minutes with him.
It’s fortunate that your work also gives you an excuse to see him from time to time. You’re called in to adjust the hilt of his blade, to compensate for the minute change in his grip whenever he wears the Number 10 suit. Its sentience frightens you, now that you see it up close for yourself, its will jostling against Soshiro, debating the best way to attack, never defend, and you nearly jump right out of your skin when the metal tail slithers up behind you, curling around your ankle.
“This human isn’t too useless”, you hear a metallic, disjointed voice say. “But you’re distracted around it.”
Soshiro kicks the tail. “Oi, she’s not useless”, he says hotly. “She’s the reason I’m even here.”
“Oh ho”, the suit chuckles. “Is this the sentiment that humans talk about? I don’t understand it, myself but it’s interesting to see it up close.”
You bend over to run your hand over the suit’s metal scales. “Don’t give Hoshina-kun a hard time, okay? You can’t go apeshit and destroy things if you don’t work together properly.”
It rumbles its approval, almost like a cat purring, its tail tightening around your shin. Soshiro, eyes narrowed, immediately orders you out of the testing ground. “It likes you too much”, he complains, once he’s stripped off the suit and out of the earshot of his colleagues. “Says you understand it - it’s a fuckin’ kaiju, it doesn’t even know you -”
“Are you jealous of your own suit?” you giggle at the absurdity of the situation.
“‘Course not”, he says too quickly. “I’m just tryin’ to keep you safe.”
“From a suit turned suitor?” you tease. “Jealous you have competition?”
He pouts. “I just don’t like to share”, he admits sheepishly. “I already don’t get enough time to spend with you, now this damn kaiju suit thinks it can sweet talk you -”
You burst out laughing. He kisses you to shut you up.
Beyond work, you keep yourself busy with your plants and pottery lessons, and remind yourself that he can’t help when a kaiju pops up, and one of the many reasons you love him is for his drive and determination to fulfil his duty. He comes to you once, slightly abashed, with yonju guts all over his form.
“Sorry I’m late. Had a yonju pop up just as I was leavin’ base”, when you gape at him.
You drag him into your bathroom, ordering him to strip. He waggles his eyebrows at you, but you grab the showerhead and sit him between your knees. He leans his head against your thighs as you scrub shampoo through his dark hair and talks about his day.
Softly, he asks. “Am I doin’ things right by you?”
“D’you even need to ask?” you reply lightly, building a crown of soap suds on his head. “You’ve done your duty and more and you make me so damn proud. Just - just make sure you always come back to me.”
You can feel his smile unfurl against your skin.
Tumblr media
You fall into a comfortable rhythm. A year passes and it’s summer again.
Your house is filled with a sea of blooms when Soshiro buys you two huge pots bursting with hydrangeas and violets. Then he takes a week off work and spends it stuffing you with endless bowls of kakigori, taking you out to all the parades, lantern lightings and firework festivals across Tokyo.
“I made a promise”, he says when you question him, bemused by his sudden enthusiasm for summertime activities. “Plus, if I stuff myself with shaved ice, I won’t have stomach to steal your ice cream again.”
“You stay away from my fridge or I’ll strangle you”, you laughingly threaten him.
He buys another bowl of kakigori to share with you, laden with golden peaches. Well, it’s a win win for you both so you don’t interrogate him further. It’s a treat to see Soshiro dressed up in a cotton yukata, cheerfully buying an armful of food from street vendors to snack on while watching the night sky explode in colour beside you.
At the end of the week, you both take the train back to Osaka for obon, Sochiro refusing to drive you both on the basis that he’s allergic to being a third wheel. You retort by sending him the numbers of your colleagues who find him cute, ‘though you have no idea why’, you qualify, and he sends you rude gifs in response.
You drop by the Hoshina estate to spend time with Soshiro’s family. Everything remains as it was when you were a child, perhaps the way it has been in past lifetimes, the manicured bonsai trees, the precisely raked ripples in white gravel. Soshiro asked you to wait for him in the courtyard where you first met him as a child of seven, where the ghosts of your childhood linger. You’re a few minutes too early, so you seek shade from the sun’s glare in a sitting room with a familiar looking katana.
An echo of a past dream draws you in. “He died in battle”, you read the caption below the blade softly to yourself. “His body was never found.”
(a boy who does his duty too well)
(and what of love, a girl asks)
In another lifetime, that could’ve been Soshiro. In this lifetime, it still could be Soshiro.
Distantly, you hear Soshiro call your name, waking you from your daydream. Warm hands rest on your shoulders, turning you to face him. “Not with your blade in my hand”, he says - and of course, Soshiro knows your thoughts, even if you don’t put them into words. “Not in this lifetime.”
The blade gleams in the lamplight. But the ring that Soshiro presents you sparkles in the summer sun.
Hand over mouth, you watch with wide eyes as he drops to one knee.
“In this lifetime”, his hands shake as he threads your fourth finger with his ring. “Let me always come home to you.”
In this lifetime, violets bloom throughout the year, improbable as it may be. In this lifetime, the boy still does his duty, but is not a stranger to love. In this lifetime, the girl’s heart is battered and bruised but ultimately is welded whole again, unbroken. In this lifetime, against the odds, your dreams bear fruit, your love awaits you.
“Tadaima”, you say. Welcome home.
“Okaerie”, he replies, nearly falling over when you throw your arms around his neck. I’m home.

Fire on Fire Part. 2
Description: Aegon struggles to deal with the fact he's in love with his niece, who seems to prefer every other noble boy in the Red Keep to him. When a drunken attempt to illicit her jealousy prompts a heartfelt conversation between the two, Aegon almost gets exactly what he wants, her love. But a disastrous turn of events at Driftmark threatens to tear them apart forever.
Previous part Next part Dividers by @zaldritzosrose
Writer's note: thank you to everyone who read part 1. This part is half fluff half angst, so fair warning. The next part will be after the time jump. I do play around a lot with timings here and Rhaenyra hasn't yet taken her children to dragonstone in this part.
Warnings: female reader. Targcest (Aegon and Rhaenyra's daughter). Characters are 16 and 15 respectfully at this point. Very much frenemies to lovers and heavily inspired by Jude and Cardan in The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black. Long because I don't know when to stop yapping.
The sound of Y/N's laughter met Aegon's ears as he made his way to the morning room to break his fast. He picked up his pace to round the corner and see just what was so funny but almost immediately wished he hadn't. He felt the stirrings of jealousy rise within him and his chest clench as he watched Y/N talking with that same noble boy as before, laughing again at something he'd said. It was thrice he had caught her with the same plain-featured weasel. If she loved the boy, Aegon would strike him down where he stood. She wasn't meant to love anyone but him.
The blood rushed to his cheeks as Y/N caught his eyes and sent him an infuriatingly sly smile. She knew how much her flirting irritated him and yet she persisted. Scowling at her, Aegon forced himself to continue walking past his niece and her admirer, keeping his gaze firmly set before him. He'd managed to avoid glancing at Y/N until he approached close enough to hear their conversation.
"You have the beauty of a lily with your silver hair and delicate features."
Aegon snorted, unable to help himself at how ridiculous a comparison that was. Y/N wasn't soft or fragile like a lily, unable to weather a storm and so easily trampled. She was the blood of the dragon, and her beauty was like that of a fire or a knife inlaid with the rarest of gems. It was made to burn, to cut, to make one feel something. He knew the stupid boy couldn't have a hope of understanding who Y/N truly was, would never appreciate her sharp edges or fierce spirit. And he who cannot handle the thorns should not desire the rose. Aegon ignored the look of contempt Y/N shot him and had nearly made it to the end of the hall when he heard a change in Y/N's pitch he misliked.
"No."
"Why not? I thought you liked me." He turned back to see her gently push the nobleman away from her with a hand on his chest. The boy looked like he had come perilously close to stealing a kiss, an act he would have paid for. Y/N was not his to kiss. She was a princess...more specifically Aegon's princess. And that thought had Aegon marching back whence he'd come, his features set in a scathing glare.
He used his momentum to roughly shove the boy away from Y/N.
"You presume to touch the princess, you swine? To sully her lips with yours. You baseless prick."
He felt Y/N gently tug on his sleeve, but he paid her no mind, only continued to scorch the noble boy with his eyes.
"I apologise my Prince. I meant no offence. Princess." And with a respectful nod at his niece, the boy hurried back down the hallway.
"Thank you."
Aegon turned to look at Y/N, prepared for sarcasm, for a rebuke at the extremity of his actions, but not her timid look as she fixed her gaze on her jewel embroidered slippers.
Aegon disliked seeing her like this, and he wanted to ask her whether she was alright, whether the scoundrel had tried anything like that before. But his jealousy and anger won out, as it so often did when it came to Y/N.
"You should be more discerning about who you spend your time with, niece."
Her head snapped up, her eyes fierce once again and her words venomous.
"If you're going to be like that then I certainly don't want to be around you, uncle. I don't even like you anyway."
Ah, there was that fire he so admired. Aegon smiled at her as she passed by him, shouting after her, "Yes, you do."
Aegon was more than a little amused to find Y/N was still cross with him as they listened to instructions from the dragonkeepers in the pit. Each time he attempted to catch her eye she was already frowning at him, and would quickly look away, pointedly ignoring him.
He generally let his mind go blank as the dragon keepers droned on, but his interest was sparked as he heard them discussing Y/N attempting her first flight on Grey Ghost. Two of the keepers were considering whether it would be better to ask Rhaenyra of Laenor to ride up with her and ensure her safety, when he stepped forward and interrupted them.
"I'll take her up."
Y/N sidled up to him
"No he won't."
Aegon turned to shoot her what he must have been an infuriatingly condescending smirk, for he could see her clench her fists on response.
"You either play with the children and their baby dragons or you come with me. What's it to be?" He glanced pointedly in the direction of her brothers, whose dragons were still too young to ride far.
Y/N huffed resignedly.
"Fine."
Aegon grinned at her triumphantly.
"Excellent. Let's go then Quelos."
Then he took hold of her wrist, dragging her towards where the dragonkeepers had shepherded Grey Ghost and Sunfyre, ignoring the uneasy looks the keepers exchanged. Sod them. Y/N was perfectly safe with him.
Getting Y/N to actually mount her dragon presented a bigger challenge. She'd spent what felt like an eternity staring at the ladder hanging off Grey Ghost's saddle, and he could practically hear her heart beating out of her chest.
"You do know how to climb right?"
Y/N whipped round, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Of course I do."
"Thank the seven. I had thought you'd forgotten how to use your limbs at all."
Y/N looked like she was trying very hard don't to slap him. Aegon only shot her a smile that showed far too much teeth for it to be kind.
Y/N rolled her eyes at him, turning back to approach the ladder and place her hands on the first rung. She didn't look back at him as she spoke
"And if I fall to my death?"
"Then I'll have far less food launched at me at supper."
When he caught a slight tremble in her hands as they gripped the ladder, he relented.
"Grey Ghost won't let you fall, and I'll be up there with you on Sunfyre in case you're stupid enough to fall off. You'll be fine."
Y/N fixed him with a look of exasperation. Any comfort he offered her would always have an edge of mischief to it. Nonetheless, she climbed the first few rungs before stopping only a foot up from the ground.
Walking up to where Y/N stood he patted the back of her leg encouragingly, feeling how tense she was through her riding leathers.
"Up you go."
Y/N looked down at him with widened eyes, likely shocked at his presumption to touch her like that.
"I'm not a dog, Aegon."
Her rebuke carried little import for Aegon as her face curiously flushed. Was she blushing? More specifically was she blushing because he'd touched her? He removed his hand quickly, realising he'd kept it there for far longer than was appropriate. Shaking her head as if to clear her thoughts, Y/N began to climb in earnest, not stopping until she reached the top of Grey Ghost's back, swinging her leg over to settle in the saddle.
Aegon patted Grey Ghost's thick scales. "Look after her, there's a good dragon."
Then he turned to mount his own dragon, which took significantly less time.
"Right. Look how I'm holding Sunfyre's reigns. This is how you get your dragon to move and direct them as you wish." He demonstrated each movement slowly to Y/N who was watching him attentively.
"your dragon will have a sense of what you want, so you can rely on your bond for the most part. The order to fly is 'Soves'. You try."
Y/N squared her shoulders and gripped Grey Ghost's reigns, facing forward and issuing her command with determination.
"Grey Ghost, soves." The dragon responded instantly, breaking into a run before taking to the skies.
Aegon followed quickly after, keen to keep an eye on his niece, being the more experienced rider.
As they rose higher and higher into the clouds over King's Landing, he laughed to see Y/N gripping her reigns for dear life, every muscle tensed.
He shouted to her so she could hear him over the wind and flapping of their dragons' wings "Relax Quelos. Feel the wind on your face and the power of the beast beneath you. See how small King's Landing looks from this height. We are gods among men."
He through his arms and head back behind him, letting out a laugh of exaltation at the familiar feeling of flying with Sunfyre. There was nothing quite like soaring high above the clouds. He felt like nothing could touch him here, none of the expectations imposed upon him as a Prince, nor the judgements of his mother and the dismissive looks of his father. Up here it was just him and his dragon...and now Y/N. Aegon suddenly imagined this would be something they'd do if they were married. They'd take to the skies together, share in the singular joy of dragon riding that only a Targaryen could experience, flying high over King's Landing so that all the small folk would see them and their dragons and know they belonged to one another.
Glancing at Y/N, he was pleased to see she'd relaxed considerably and looked like she was actually enjoying herself. When she let out a carefree laugh, patting her dragon and urging him to rise higher into the sky, Aegon followed without hesitation.
Y/N had grown in confidence as she grew accustomed to flying on dragonback, and challenged Aegon to a race back to the dragon pit.  He'd been all too willing to oblige and they left the pit after dismounting their dragons playfully shoving each other's sides as they bickered over who had actually won.
Just as they were about to enter the Red Keep, Aegon stopped Y/N.
"Wait a moment, Quelos."
Raising his hand he picked a stray leaf from her hair before tucking a strand of hair that had escaped her elaborate braid behind her ear.
Y/N stilled, staring up at him with a dazed expression.
An award silence ensued which had Aegon regretting his brash actions and clearing his throat to break it.
"You look a mess. It's off putting actually."
Y/N glared at him, whatever spell that had kept her frozen in place breaking as she turned on her heel to storm up the stairs and into the Red Keep, nose upturned haughtily. Aegon stared wistfully after her, wishing he could just damn well say something nice to her for once.
From that day onwards, Y/N would only fly out with Aegon, grabbing his sleeve and dragging him to the dragon pit with her whenever she wanted. This pleased Aegon to no end, seeing it as another way in which they were irrevocably connected to one another.
Tumblr media
News of Laena Velaryon's death reached the Red Keep, and it was decided that the royal family would travel to driftmark for her funeral. Aegon had never met Laena, his concern lay with his niece, who seemed to take the news harder than he would have expected.
As they played a game of Cyvasse, Aegon could no longer ignore her melancholy expression.
"Is it your aunt?"
She looked up from the board, seemingly having been lost in her own thoughts. He misliked her going off in her head to a place he could not follow.
"What?"
"Your aunt Laena. Is that why you're so glum?"
Y/N shook her head, playing with the end of her braid, a nervous gesture she'd taken to as a child.
"You might think me selfish. But it is not the Lady Laena I mourn for. It is Harwin Strong. We never got to mourn him properly, it wouldn't have been appropriate mother said. We weren't even able to bury him."
Aegon, in an uncharacteristic display of empathy, reached over and took her hand, interlocking their fingers as he'd tried to do only once before. This time, she didn't pull away from him, and he knew then the depth of her grief for her to accept comfort from him.
"I don't think your selfish. He was...he meant a lot to you and my sister."
Shit. Aegon had almost said what everyone had always known but never voiced. That Harwin Strong was Y/N's father, the father of all Rhaenyra's children. Y/N was clever. She must know. But Aegon felt there was a silent pact between them that they could throw jibes at each other as much as they liked as long as they did not cross this one line.
"You're surprisingly good at this."
"I'm good at a great deal of things. You'll have to be more specific."
"No, you're not. Don't lie. I meant you're good at comforting someone when they're upset. Thank you."
"You wound me Quelos. But, you're welcome."
He squeezed her hand one last time before retracting it to gesture back to the Cyvasse board.
"Now hurry up and make your move so I can take your castle with my dragon."
Aegon couldn't shake his concern for Y/N as he watched her mope about the Red Keep in the days before the Lady Laena's funeral. Though, he tried to convince himself he was starting to act just like those lovesick fools in Y/N's books. If only he could find a way to distract her, cheer her up. The perfect opportunity arose the day before they would set of for Driftmark.
Aegon had fortuitously tripped over a wine goblet he'd carelessly tossed on the floor, only to fall against the wall by his bed, gripping onto the nearest sconce to steady himself. Only a moment later, the wall gave way and Aegon fell into a darkened passage. As his eyes adjusted, he could see the passage was long and branched off in different directions. Quickly righting himself, he brushed the dust of his tunic and grabbed a candle, choosing a path and following it to see where it lead. After a short time, he spotted ridges in the wall that signalled this was another secret entrance and peaking through a small hole he could see it entered into Aemond's room. Aegon smirked. For once, his drunken tendencies and clumsiness had been useful. He knew just how to distract Y/N. With an afternoon of adventuring.
Aegon bounded up to Y/N excitedly as he finally found her reading one-off her novels in the godswood. Grabbing her by the elbows, he pulled her up and wasted no time in taking her hand to pull her along with him.
"Come on little star, I have something to show you."
Y/N looked startled by his abruptness and a little ruffled by his manhandling of her. Though this was hardly new, he never treated her like a porcelain doll as the other members of court did.
"What is it?"
"A surprise."
Y/N yanked her hand back, though Aegon refused to let her go.
"If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not. The last time you said you had a surprise for me, you put one of Helaena's tarantulas in my hand."
Aegon rolled his eyes.
"It's not like that this time. Don't you trust me?"
"Decidedly not. I'm not stupid."
Groaning at her stubbornness, Aegon leaned down to look her in the eyes.
"I give you my word as a Prince of the realm that I won't allow any harm to come to you...and there are no spiders involved this time."
Y/N searched his eyes for a few seconds before seeming to decide he was telling the truth, her arm loosening as she stopped resisting him.
"Fine then. I'll set Jacaerys on you if you are lying though."
"Ha. I'd like to see that." Y/N followed him wordlessly after that until they reached the door to his chambers where she suddenly stopped and frowned at him sternly.
"There's not going to be any funny business is there?"
Glancing from her face to his door Aegon scoffed as he realised what she meant.
"Do you have any faith in me whatsoever?"
"Absolutely none."
Aegon huffed, a little hurt by this.
"Well that stings. But no, I would never take advantage of you." He looked at her seriously, urging her to believe he wouldn't joke about something like that. He wanted her to feel for him one day, wanted to be able to kiss her...marry her. But he wanted her to want him too.
Y/N relented and gestured towards the door.
"OK then. Lead the way."
Aegon leaned back, rocking on his heels as he awaited Y/N's response to the passageway opening, having explained how he'd found it.
"Well, what do you think?"
Y/N looked back at him, mouth opened partially in shock before she abruptly closed it.
"Aegon. This...is brilliant."
He positively beamed at her, not used to such praise, but happy to have impressed her with his discovery.
"It would be a shame to leave all those passages unexplored, don't you think?"
Y/N shot him a sly, conspiratorial look.
"An awful shame." And for the first time, Y/N held her hand out to him, inviting him to take it. He'd never moved so fast, interlacing their fingers quickly. It felt more intimate to hold her hand that way somehow.
Aegon tried to shush Y/N's giggles as they looked through a peephole into the council room and overheard Lord Tyland Lannister getting a talking down by his grandsire the Hand. But he himself was laughing so hard, it had turned into pained wheezes that left him clutching his stomach. Y/N was only making it worse as she mimicked the Lannister Lord's face.
"What was that noise?" King Viserys looked about him, clearly having heard their muffled laughter.
Aegon's eyes widened and he gently started pushing Y/N away from the peephole and further down the passageway.
When he thought they'd successfully found the entrance to his chambers again he pushed through with a sigh of relief, but froze as he realised he'd been mistaken...for there was his sister Rhaenyra packing belongings into a trunk for the journey on the morrow. This was not his room. He felt Y/N's skirts brush against his leg and quickly pushed her back through the entryway, closing the passageway with the sconce just before Rhaenyra turned to look at him, eyes wide with shock at his sudden apparition. He was glad at least that Y/N had not been caught if he was about to be told off for snooping.
"Aegon?"
"I'm sorry...sister." The word felt strange to describe their relationship. He'd been raised to be suspicious of her, to fear her even. But he did not want to. He stumbled over his words, trying to provide an explanation for his appearance in her room.
"I discovered this secret passage and was just exploring. I didn't mean to intrude upon you, I thought this was my room."
A strange expression came over Rhaenyra's face, her eyes glazing over slightly like she was remembering something. To his surprise, she did not shout at him or rebuke him at all.
"That is alright. I myself discovered the passage when I was about your age just exercise more discretion when you're exploring." This was the longest they'd held a conversation that Aegon could remember. And he felt himself wanting to grasp for more, for a reality in which they could have just been brother and sister.
"Thank you, Rhaenyra." The ghost of a smile lit her features at his appellation of her name.
"I remember when you couldn't say my name. You couldn't form the vowels properly so I taught you how to say it when you were 2."
Aegon felt his heart clench at the thought.
"I wish I could remember." He wished for more than that. He sought for something to say to Rhaenyra, anything to express his earnest wish they could form a sibling bond. After all, he wished to marry her daughter one day. But nothing came.
"Off you go, then."
Tumblr media
The brisk morning air sent a shiver through Aegon as he made his way up the ramp to the galley that would take them to Driftmark. He could have flown there on Sunfyre, but Rhaenyra had forbidden Y/N from making the flight herself, saying it wouldn't be fair to her brothers whose dragons were too young to make the journey. And so he'd opted to stay with Y/N.
Aegon came to regret this choice later that day as the little she devil didn't seem grateful to have his company in the slightest, all but slamming the door to her cabin in his face.
"No, Aegon."
"Why not?"
He'd been trying to convince her to play a game of Cyvasse with him for the last half hour, but she'd positioned her body in her doorway blocking his entrance.
"I just don't feel up to it.
Aegon smirked at her.
"Coward. You just think you'll lose."
To his surprise, Y/N didn't bite back a smart retort.
"See this line right here?" She pointed at the slight inclination in ground level at the foot of her doorway.
"You stay on your side, and i'll stay on mine."
And in his shock at such a cold rebuttal, Y/N was able to slam her door shut before Aegon could stop her. He sulked off unhappily to his own room. Perhaps she really was feeling unwell. She had looked a little paler, perhaps.
Aegon grew truly concerned the next morning when Y/N didn't emerge from her chambers. He was bored and wanted her company, after all he had opted for the boat expressly to spend time with her. Hours passed, and his eyes kept flitting to her door as he sat on deck, so he made the decission to check on her.
He rapped his knuckles on her door impatiently, calling out to her.
"Go away." Aegon frowned. There was really no need and no explanation for her animosity. But then he heard the unmistakable sounds of vomiting and realised why Y/N hadn't wanted him in her chambers the night before or now.
"Are you sick?"
"Obviously, idiot." Alarmed by how weak Y/N's insult sounded, Aegon pushed his way through the door.
"Then I'm coming in."
He shut the door quickly behind him, turning around to see Y/N crouched over a bucket, looking as green as his mother's House colours.
"You look awful."
Y/N scowled.
"Ugh, don't you always think that anyway?"
Her face contorted with pain and she had to lean over to heave into the bucket again. Aegon moved towards her, gently pulling her hair back from her face and stroking her back. When she'd finished he grabbed her wrist, dragging her to sit on the bed.
"Sit."
Y/N was leant forward, her hand on her forehead.
"Still not a dog, Aegon. You can't order me about."
"Are you sure? You're doing an awful lot of yapping for being not a dog."
"I will hit you."
Aegon winked at her, pleased she was feeling well enough to bicker with him. She was not dying at least.
"I don't doubt it."
Removing the bucket from the room and leaving it outside for a servant to deal with, he returned to start gathering cloths and wetting them in a dish of water.
"What are you doing?" Y/N questioned him inquisitively.
"Helping."
He lightly pressed her shoulders so she would have to lie down and began dabbing at her face with the cool cloths, leaving one pressed against her forehead. He made her take some sips of water from a goblet he handed her for good measure.
"Better?"
"Yes. Though thoroughly embarrassed at having such pathetic sea legs considering my father is a Velaryon."
Aegon didn't know what to say to that. To him, it made perfect sense that Y/N would not be suited totally to the sea like a true Velaryon. She was made of fire and blood. So he said nothing, and a silence ensued, broken by Y/N.
"I'm bored."
"What do you want me to do about it?"
"Read to me."
"No."
"Please."
"Still no."
"But my head hurts and I can't keep my eyes open."
"It'll pass."
If she thought she was just going to bat her eyelashes at him and get whatever she wanted...
She grabbed his hand and squeezed it, looking at him imploringly, and Aegon caved.
"Oh fine then. What drivel do you have stashed away for me to read?" He approached the pile of books by her bedside table, flicking through their contents to find the least unappealing.
"Despicable, disgusting, simpering fool. Quelos, I'd say you should be ashamed but I never had that much faith in your reading tastes anyway.
"If you're going to be mean then leave." Y/N crossed her arms, looking genuinely embarrassed by his assessment of her literary tastes.
Smirking at her, he picked a book at random from the pile and settled down in the chair beside her to read. He surprised himself by how much he enjoyed reading to her, changing the pitch of his voice for different characters and performing a pretty compelling reenactment of the scorned lover's appeal for forgiveness, he thought. He was so animated that he didn't realise when Y/N had fallen asleep. He'd never seen her look so peaceful, and he realised it was because she wasn't scowling at him. He thought she looked lovely, ethereal even, but he much preferred when she was awake to glare at him. It was so much more fun, and deep down, he thought it was a mark of affection that was wholly theirs.
He must have fallen asleep not long after, for he awoke to find Y/N sitting up and reading, looking much better than she had.
"You snore very loudly."
"No I don't." Aegon frowned. He didn't think he did at least.
"How do you know?"
"Heathen." There was no malice in the insult, but a tenderness.
"First I'm ugly, then I'm a dog, now a heathen. I've had an interesting metamorphosis on this trip."
"You're not." Aegon replied before he could stop himself.
"Not?"
"Ugly. You're beautiful."
"You think I'm pretty?" No, he did not think her pretty. He thought she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Pretty wasn't enough for her.
"Beautiful. I said beautiful. Pretty is a pathetic word for what you are. If you wanted someone to call you pretty you should have asked that prick you've been spending so much time with."
Y/N looked momentarily stunned, then a flash of hurt crossed her features.
"He's not a prick. Are you making fun of me?"
Aegon felt his blood heat at her defence of the bastard he'd warned off her only a short while ago. Then, he was angry at her for seeming to prefer every other boy in the Keep over him, no matter what he did.
He rose to stand, only glancing back at her once he'd reached her door, one hand on the door knob.
"If you like."
Aegon steadfastly avoided Y/N for the rest of the journey, and once they reached Driftmark, he immediately set to getting as drunk as humanely possible. He gulped down cup after cup of wine, though he winced as it burned down his throat. He tried to ignore the disapproving looks Y/N kept shooting him, as well as the droning chatter of the other guests around him. Aemond came to stand by him quietly. "Whats happened between you and our niece?"
Was he really so transparent? Aegon downed another cup of wine before answering.
"Nothing. Why do you say that?"
"Because it looks like you're trying very hard to drink yourself to death, and you won't stop staring at each other."
Aegon frowned at the validity of his brother's assessment, his shoulders stiffening as he saw Y/N approaching them. When she was in hearing range, he raised his voice and turned to Aemond.
"She's not to my tastes, brother. I prefer creatures with very long legs." Out of his peripheral vision, he saw Y/N halt in her tracks, a look of hurt passing over her features, before she walked back in the opposite direction to rejoin her brothers. Aegon had wanted to make her jealous...to make her want him. But as so often was the case, his words had had the opposite effect, and she only seemed to hate him more.
Tumblr media
Aegon sank down onto the steps overlooking the blackwater, letting his head fall back on the stone wall, his head beginning to ache and his vision to swim.
"You're drunk."
Aegon tilted his head to look at Y/N, though it was difficult to make out her figure in the oppressive darkness.
"Yes. The wine is good. What of it?"
The wine wasn't good. It was bitter and acrid, and burned Aegon's throat. But he had drank cup after cup nonetheless. He didn't drink it for the taste, but to forget his worries; the pressing weight of his mother's expectations, the bitterness he carried within him in the face of father's complete disregard for him, and the pain he felt at Y/N's inability to love him. His niece sank down next to him, her shoulder pressing against his as she leant her head against the wall with him to look up at the starless sky. Obfuscated by dark grey clouds, even the sky seemed sinister tonight.
"You don't have to be like this, you know." Y/N didn't have to clarify. He knew she meant his self-destructive behaviour and tendency to lash out when in pain. They'd always understood each other too well for any pretence. But he did wish she wouldn't be so direct about it. If she couldn't love him, then couldn't she at least let him drown himself in wine and sulk as he pleased? That was what the rest of his family did.
"Yes I do."
Y/N sighed, looked sadly at him with her beautiful eyes...her painfully beautiful eyes that haunted his every waking thought. He wished she would close them or direct them elsewhere so he didn't have to look at them.
"You pretend to be awful, but I know it's all just an elaborate charade..."
He interrupted her before she could finish. He didn't like where this was going. It was too raw, too vulnerable. He was too vulnerable under her penetrative stare.
"Maybe I am awful." It was better for her to dislike him, hate him even, than pity him. Her indifference to him he could just about bear...her pity he could not. He was pathetic to his grandsire, a disappointment to his mother, and nothing at all to his father. He couldn't be nothing to Y/N. A source of irritation, the object of her ire perhaps, but not nothing.
"No, you're not. You're my best friend."
Friend. The word rang sickeningly in Aegon's mind, only worsening his headache.
"Don't say that." He gritted out.
"What?"
"I don't want to be your friend." He watched her face fall at his unexpected animosity. She was innocent to her power to hurt him with just the idea that she saw him only as a friend. It wasn't her fault, but he couldn't bear for her to state it so assuredly. Was there not even a part of her that felt for him as he did her?
"Oh. I thought..."
"Well you thought wrong."
Panic tore through Aegon as Y/N brushed off her skirts and rose to leave, her face oddly scrunched up like she was trying hard not to cry. Against his better judgement, Aegon grabbed her hand in a vice like grip, pulling her back down next to him.
He despised how broken his own voice sounded to his ears as he whispered a silent plea.
"Don't leave. I'm sorry."
He didn't loosen his grip on her hand till he felt her relax, her arm brushing his again. He found even this touch comforting, a reassurance that someone cared about him, even if it was not in the way he wished. He was glad his mind was somewhat befuddled by his overindulgence of Velaryon wine. It made it easier for him to pretend Y/N loved him too.
"Why are you trying so hard to act like you hate me, only to apologise immediately afterwards. It seems awfully exhausting." Aegon smiled sadly at her. Of course she knew it was an act. She knew everything about him.
"Because I'd rather hate you than feel as I truly do for you. It's insufferable."
"What do you mean, Aegon?" And suddenly, he couldn't stand her ignorance to his own feelings, whether it was willful or not. If he had to suffer them, then she did too.
"I mean that everytime I see you with another stupid boy I want to feed him to Sunfyre, and I don't know whether I want to shout at you or kiss you stupid until you don't want to look at another boy ever again."
Y/N's mouth parted open in shock, her gasp only seeming to reaffirm what Aegon already felt he knew deep within his bones. She did not feel the same.
"So why don't you?"
Aegon stared at her, searching for anything that would give away the game she must surely be playing.
"You don't see me that way. Like you said. I'm your best friend." His voice was laced with sarcasm, the word 'friend' tasting like the bitter Velaryon wine on his tongue
"What if I did?"
"Did what?" He let his eyes flutter closed, tired of this game. It wasn't fun for him.
"Want you to kiss me?"
He jumped upright. She couldn't be serious. And yet she didn't look like she found any of this funny. He didn't dare to hope.
"Don't play with me, Y/N. Not now."
"I'm not...for once. I never liked any of those stupid boys as you call them. I just wanted you to look at me, really see me. As a girl you might love rather than just your little niece."
Aegon felt like he was walking in a dream, perhaps a symptom of the alcohol running through his bloodstream that was making him slightly lightheaded. He grinned at the girl in front of him, who might just be his girl after all.
"So you like me as well."
Y/N wrinkled her nose at him.
"Like is a strong word."
Aegon took her hand, chasing her eyeline as she shifted awkwardly under his gaze. She looked shy for once, her cheeks dusted with a lovely shade of pink.
"I think you might actually be madly in love with me based on how red your face is."
"It's rude to comment on a lady's appearance like that, Aegon. And don't get ahead of yourself."
He smirked cockily at her, feeling his confidence grow.
"You like it when I'm rude. Besides, I'm quite the catch."
Y/N scoffed, wrenching her hand from his, though he quickly reclaimed it.
"I'll have you know I'm very much sought after and admired in the Keep. Didn't you see how taken that nobleman was with me?"
Aegon tilted his head down, whispering against Y/N's ear.
"I remember you looking at me when he was looking at you."
Y/N's eyes widened, though she did not deny it. Aegon felt a rush of excitement pass through him, felt the blood pounding in his ears as he saw her eyes flit to his lips.
Right then Aegon decided he'd teased Y/N enough. Now he wanted to reassure her of how he felt about her.
"I think I'm a little in love with you actually. I'd better kiss you to be sure." He tried to sound playful, light hearted. But he so wanted her to say yes.
Y/N looked nervous for a moment before smiling at him
"OK."
Aegon moved slowly, just in case Y/N wanted to change her mind, shifting closer to kneel before her. He tentatively placed a hand on her waist, more gentle than he thought himself capable of, and pressed his lips to her briefly. Pulling away to guage her reaction, he nearly laughed when he saw that her eyes were shut, her long eyelashes grazing her cheeks as she tilted her head up, seeking his lips. Then he kissed her again, more fervently this time, until she started to move her lips against his with a degree of clumsiness he found endearing before finding a rhythm. He'd kissed other girls before, though not one of them had mattered to him, and he never much cared for it. Kissing Y/N made him feel like all his nerves were on fire, and each brush of her soft lips against his as they moulded together made him feel an elation quite like flying on dragonback..like he was soaring. Y/N shifting suddenly pulled him from his joy, and he pulled away, concerned he'd stepped too far.
"What's wrong?"
Y/N looked sheepish, toying with the rings on her fingers.
"I don't know where to put my hands."
Aegon smiled tenderly at her.
"Anywhere."
He kissed her again but quickly grew distracted by her continued fidgeting. He'd expressly granted her permission to touch him and was more than a little disappointed she hadn't taken him up on his offer. Taking hold of her hands himself, he placed them on his shoulders. Y/n relaxed against him then, gripping his shoulders to pull him closer. He shuddered under even this innocent touch, feeling overwhelmed by the reality that Y/N loved him.
Y/N pulled away to catch her breath, pushing against his shoulders so she could look up into his face. "Well? Are you in love with me or not?"
Aegon pretended to think. "inconclusive. Perhaps we should try again to be sure." Y/N promptly hit him on the arm, hard. Of course, he'd fall in love with such a heathen. Aegon wrapped his arms around her, pressing their foreheads together. He wanted her to know he was only jesting. Of course he loved her.
"Yes, you silly girl."
Aegon stroked her cheek experimentally, only having read about such affectionate gestures in the ridiculous novels Y/N had forced him to read to her. He did still hope he was doing it right.
"I'm going to marry you one day."
"Are you now?"
Aegon blinked. Shit. Perhaps that was too far or he sounded too sure of himself, too possessive. He quickly fumbled to amend the error.
"Only if you want to...then I'll go and talk to our mothers."
Y/N laughed at him, leaning forward to rest her head against his shoulder, causing him to still completely.
"I think you'd better. Maybe when you've sobered up a bit. You're slurring a little now, my stupid boy." And the way she called him hers had Aegon leaning forward to kiss her again.

The young prince and princess entered the Velaryon halls hand in hand. Though Aegon felt something was wrong almost immediately as he heard raised voices. They followed the direction of the voices, being admitted by a pair of knights. Aegon dropped Y/N's hand at the sight before him, horrified by the blood covering his brother's face and the gaping wound where his eye should have been. His mother was shouting, but he couldn't make out what had happened amongst the din. Glancing around the room, he could see that Jace and Luke were also covered in blood, though with no visible injuries. What could possibly have happened in the space of time he'd been absent?
Aegon rushed over to his mother.
"What's happened?"
She pointed angrily in the direction of his nephews.
"They attacked your brother, took his eye. Where were you when your brother was being set upon?" She slapped him then, and Aegon looked at her in shock. He heard a gasp and looked to see Y/N over by her brothers, her hand covering her mouth. A wave of guilt swept over him. He'd been with her, and for a moment, he had been truly happy. But he couldn't say that the reason he had not been there to defend his brother was because he'd been too busy kissing and confessing his love to his niece.
He lowered his head to the ground with shame, standing with his hands clasped behind his back.
His mother turned away from him as the doors burst open to admit Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, and Corlys.
"What is the meaning of this." The sea snake's voice boomed across the hall, and the room erupted with noise as each party sought to tell their side first.
Aegon got the gist of it eventually that Aemond had claimed Vhagar to Baela's displeasure, that a brawl had broken out and Aemond had been left to fend off four children single handedly before Lucerys Velaryon cut out his eye. Aegon felt appalled at his nephew's actions and then with himself for not being there to stop them.
"He called us bastards."
Aegon's head snapped up at Jacaerys' accusation, feeling panic creep in. They had never addressed the fact so directly before. It was the worst kept secret in Kings Landing, but a secret nonetheless. Viserys approached Aemond, a dangerous look on his mottled face.
"Where did you hear such vile accusations? Tell me, Aemond."
Aegon watched as Aemond's eye shifted to their mother, their father following his eyeline. He silently prayed that Aemond wouldn't say he had heard it from their mother. Aegon didn't know what Viserys would do to her if he knew she'd spoken badly of Rhaenyra, ever father's favourite.
"Aegon"
Aegon's eyes widened, his whole body tensing as Viserys turned his gaze on him instead.
"Me?"
"And where did you hear such lies, boy." Aegon couldn't think of an answer, which only seemed to anger his father more as he shouted into his face, making him jump. "Aegon!"
He wouldn't implicate his mother in this, and so there was only one thing for him to do. He had to tell the truth his father refused to accept. He took a deep breath and locked eyes with Y/N, trying to express to her without words how sorry he was for what he was about to say.
"We know, father. Everyone knows. Just look at them."
He wanted Y/N to know that he didn't mean her. Never her. She was different, a true Targaryen no matter her parentage. But he had to choose his brother, his mother, and to watch Y/N's face that had only a short while ago looked at him with love fall at his betrayal.
"This interminable infighting must cease. We are a family. Now make your apologies."
Aegon felt disgust at his father's dismissal of Aemond's suffering, simply telling them to make their apologies. He'd lost an eye, it could never be so simple.
"That is not sufficient. My son has lost an eye."
Aegon shifted closer to his mother as she argued with his father, preparing to step between them if Viserys raised a hand to her.
"What would you have me do?" Perhaps acknowledge your other children, Aegon thought bitterly.
"There is a debt to be paid I shall have one of her son's eyes in return." Aegon felt his heart begin to beat faster with fear at what his father would do at such a suggestion, feeling his shoulders sag in relief when Ser Criston refused to take Luke's eye. His relief was short-lived as his mother grabbed his father's dagger from its sheath and made as if to take the boy's eye herself. With adrenaline fuelling him, he quickly crossed the room and took hold of Y/N's arm, pulling her out of the way though she struggled against him.
"Let me go."
"Not until it's safe."
Aegon gasped as his mother cut Rhaenyra, a heavy silence enveloping the room.
In his shock his grip on Y/N loosened and she tried to get out of his hold. He quickly made a grab for her wrist to stop her.
"I'm sorry Y/N. I had to say it."
She yanked her arm away from him, her voice like ice.
"You as good as called me a bastard."
"You have to understand Y/N. My father, gods know what he would have done to my brother, my mother."
Nothing he said seemed to help. Y/N's eyes were welling up with tears and she wouldn't even look at him.
Placing a hand on her waist, he whispered a desperate plea for only her to hear.
"Please, Quelos. You know I love you."
She took hold of his hand only to remove it from her waist, taking a step back from him.
"No I don't."
And then she was rushing away from him to catch up with her mother and brothers, leaving Aegon there to stare after her.
Aegon paced outside his mother's quarters, waiting for his grandsire Otto to leave so he could speak with her. Otto seemed surprised to find him there once he emerged from her chambers, the hour was late. But he said nothing as he set off down the hall and Aegon entered his mother's chambers before the door had even swung shut.
"Mother, I must speak with you."
His mother sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Not now, Aegon."
He closed the door behind him.
"It cannot wait. I've come to request your permission to marry Y/N Velaryon."
His mother gawked at him, grasping blindly behind her to steady herself on a chair.
"What can you mean by this? You wish to marry the girl whose brother maimed your own this very evening?"
Aegon flinched at the harshness in her voice.
"It would surely help to put an end to the conflict between the two sides of our family...and I love her, mother."
"I will not allow you to sully yourself by marrying one of your sister's bastard children. You are a true born Targaryen. Y/N is not worthy of any of my sons."
Aegon straightened his shoulders.
"Don't speak about her like that, mother."
She looked shocked at him talking back to her like that, but it pained him to hear his mother speak badly of the girl he loved.
"That's the end of the conversation, Aegon. We're leaving tomorrow."
"But, mother..."
"Now, Aegon. Get to bed."
Turning from him to gaze into the fire, Aegon realised with a heavy heart that his mother would hear no more of his plea for Y/N's hand that night, and he quietly left the room.
Neither Rhaenyra nor her children were on the boat home to the King's Landing the next day, and Aegon leant over the deck railings staring at Driftmark as it faded into the distance. He hated having to go even another day without speaking to Y/N, knowing she must still be angry with him. How could everything have turned to ash so quickly, all of his hopes and dreams turning to cinders. But she would have to return to King's Landing for her dragon. They all would. He would make her understand then...
Days passed, and there was still no sign of Y/N returning. His mother continued to avoid answering his questions about when Rhaenyra would return, and all of his attempts to bring up a marriage between himself and Y/N.
There was a heavy mist covering King's Landing when Rhaenyra finally returned with her children. Aegon had woken to find servants milling about the hallways carrying objects from Rhaenyra's room and from Y/N's, much to his confusion. He'd headed to his mother's chambers to find out what was happening.
"Your sister is taking her children to live on Dragonstone. She returned this morning to arrange for the transportation of her belongings and for her children's dragons. She has likely left by now."
Aegon had dashed from the room, sprinting down the stairwell that led to the main courtyard. Surely his mother had to be wrong. Rhaenyra wouldn't even let Jace and Luke fly their dragons to Driftmark. Dragonstone was a similar distance. Y/N couldn't be gone.
But he was too late. Out of breath from his exhertions, he looked up to the skies only to sight Rhaneyra's dragon Syrax in the distance and the unmistakable grey scales of Y/N's dragon as they flew over King's Landing. And as he watched on, Grey Ghost's scales blended with the mist until he could no longer see them.

This was so ridiculously long! Even if something seems unimportant it will be later.
Onto the time jump...
