I know the hoop earring was just a figment of my imagination in 2022... (and what a fun one that was, even made an appearance in a mötley crüe dream I had back then!)

but what if the guys had actually convinced Mick to get at least one of his ears pierced in the 80s? and then gave him some of their earrings to wear, so excited to quasi stake a claim to Mick, along the lines of "he got his ear pierced for us, he's wearing our jewelry" <3

also a hypothetical interview situation, interviewer mentioning how the younger guys all have some type of piercing/are wearing earrings and how Mick doesn't seem to have any. and instead of answering, Mick just coyly brushes his hair away from his ear to reveal a modest (for crüe standards) little earring dangling from his earlobe, smiling at the interviewer/cameras in his mysterious way hehe <3

robin!! ok, i will say, at very first glance the wires sorta kinda look like earrings! he would have looked great with some dangly hoops anyways…(i’ll go back in time and influence him to get his ears pierced if i have to!)

i love the collective crue peer pressure to force mick into getting at least one ear pierced, because they’re already dictating how he dresses, so they should at least have a say in what he does piercing and tattoo wise. of course, mick isn’t really able to say no to his boys so he lets them book an appointment and take him to whatever piercing shop exists (idk the logistics we don’t think about actually realistic things over here). also they’d all surround him while he’s getting his ears pierced, cause they can’t leave him alone for two seconds. they cheer him on and when his ears get pierced, they automatically pull out a little box of earrings they secretly bought with them to let their old man make the choice. i love the “quasi stake a claim to mick” line because… it’s so true. like they would finally be able to say that he’s their old man because he’s wearing their jewelry, they made him get his ears pierced and he did it. he’ll only listen to them and what they tell him to do.

of course, they’d constantly make mick move his hair out of the way so they can see the new earring…and mick just does it cause he’s resigned to his fate.

the interviewer going “so you all have piercings too… well besides you!” pointing at mick, who kinda blushes a bit… we all know how he gets about sudden attention on him. still, he can’t even hold back the smile on his face when he moves his hair behind his ears and shows off the nice dangly earring hanging from his ear. it’s not flashy and the camera has to move in closer to get a wide shot of his little earring, but it’s there and it makes the audience (and maybe even the interviewer) gasp in delight. the rest of the band cheer him on and laugh as they see mick blush a bit more at all the cheers and delighted gasps. he just smiles gently and the members laugh at the interviewer and joke about how he definitely “didn’t expect that, huh?”

(side note: this idea kinda reminds me of my fav kpop boy and how he’d do the exact same thing… sorry for mentioning that but omg this going into my “these two are so alike” file)

it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.

i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.

the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.

they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?

but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.

so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.

the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.

the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."

the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.
