To know that Gale had missed him as much John had missed him, enough that he’d chosen to be bolder than usual almost as though he couldn’t help himself? Gale lifts his head, locking eyes with him, and though John needs to be careful of the emotions playing on his face, Gale has no such limits, his back to the rest of the room. Gale must hear it because he wiggles his eyebrows teasingly when he lowers John’s hand with a last caress of his thumb, and it’s all John can do not to pull him up and kiss him senseless, feel the softness of pump lips and the rough but pleasurable burn on his chin and cheeks.

The moment it is appropriate enough for them to go, John is crowding Gale in a secluded alcove until all he can taste are Gale’s kisses. 

“Your Grace,” and oh, how John had missed that deep voice, the way it rumbles through his body in a shiver that goes down his spine. Heat stirs low in his belly, the familiar flames of arousal only stoked by Gale’s intense gaze as John pulls him up.

“You missed me?” Gale chuckles, shakes his head as he steps back to a more appropriate distance. His eyes don’t leave John’s face, as though carefully studying any change that might have happened in the two weeks they’d been apart.

“Like a stone in my shoe.” 

Even if John cannot pull him back into his own body, hold him there with an arm around his shoulders, this is something they can do. The easy banter and fond teasing they both know all the hidden messages of. It’s there, in the warm blue of Gale’s eyes and the smile that pulls at his lips. John is sure it shows in the way his eyes crinkle, how he can barely stop his arms from reaching out again. But nobody will blink at the lack of honorifics or at the fondness coloring Gale’s tone, too used to seeing them attached at the hip when they can be, or Gale always half a step behind John in times of duty. People will smile and write about the unbreakable bond between a King and his Shield, once again proving how Royal and Shield are closer than soulmates, never knowing how true those words are.

Akutagawa has absolutely no experience in relationships, so he can be awkward when no one sees you, embarrassed when you are very close to him;

His palms get sweaty when he's nervous, which is why he never takes your hand himself. He's a bit ashamed;

Possessive. Very. Much. If you told him that you love him, it means that you should be there for him and not exchange pleasantries with any of the other guys. This concerns people from the Port Mafia first of all;

Despite his rudeness in communication and demeanor, in bed, Ryunosuke, surprisingly, demonstrates an uncharacteristic tenderness;

By inviting him to visit you, you did not mean that you would lie under Akutagawa in only your underwear, while he still awkwardly pokes yours with dry lips from excitement. It is unusual for him to feel someone's cautious touches on himself, it is unusual that someone other than his sister takes care of him. It's unusual to him to be loved.

“Are you sure?" The brunette clarifies when you suggest that he use Rashomon on you to fix your hands in one position. Ryunosuke is more than certain that his ability can only bring pain, death, and suffering. Rashomon is not intended for anything else, however, the young man meets your gaze full of confidence. You trust him, you trust that he will not blunder. Akutagawa feels like there isn't enough room in his chest for his heart to swell at the mere sight of you.

With uncharacteristic tenderness, Akutagawa kisses your cheeks, where a blush shows through, and long flaps of fabric protrude from his white shirt, which wrap around your wrists, pressing them to the mattress. And this is really very convenient. At least Ryunosuke has both of his hands free so he can pull off your soaking wet underwear, and then pull off his pants along with his underpants.

I've an image in my head that's been stuck there for a while now: BG3 companions with the human link. My most used party comb for Act 3 was Gale, Wyll, Minsc, and human Tav. I called it the human party and ran wild around the city with it.

The other companions notice the inside jokes between you and Wyll, the times Gale makes a comment about humans being easy to trick and you scoff and tell him to speak for himself, the ways Minsc seems to really open around you and the other two.

Like yk how to deal with each others, the way human friends joke with each other and tease each other. The nonsensical arguments for fun, the exaggerated emotions and the silly jokes.

It's magnetic in a way, how the four of you seem to find love and fun amidst everything going on, the human nature of having the best time possible at any given situation.

Halsin especially enjoys when the humans in the party sorround him.

Gale's eyes shining with curiosity as he asks him about druid magic and the Great forest the elves reside at, how it functions and how does a connection to the fey feel like.

Wyll being impressed by his vast historical knowledge so easily, asking about famous people that Halsin knew before they were famous.

Minsc who is more curious about the current times and only has Halsin and Jaheira as guides. Asking about details of what happened after they defeated Bhaal the last time around.

And human Tav who is somehow a mix of the three. How you wonder how an elf managed to become his size, saying you've never seen anyone like him before. Feeling up his muscles and arms, asking so many questions.

To be the center of attention of four humans, showered with their touches and gazes, it's completely addicting even for someone who claims he is humble like Halsin.

He can't help but want to show off to these cute adorable humans. Let them sit on his lap, feel his arms and ask all these questions that are considered inappropriate in elf culture. Humans really are blunt and seductive little things without realising that they are, huh?

The way you shamelessly ask him to turn into a bear and cuddle you, how the other three humans saw this and joined you two without invitation. Petting Halsin's bear form and cuddling close to his hot soft body.

Sometimes Halsin thinks he died and went to elf heaven, where you get your own harem of humans that shower you with love and let you tend to their every need.

That one time Gale was complaining about walking and just asked Halsin to carry him. That other time Wyll brought him flowers he found during his stroll, unaware of their deeper meaning in elvish as a proposal to sleep together.

The various wrestling matches Minsc has with him. Where Halsin pins his strong human body and down and watches his writhle and squirm underneath him, the cute human pouting at having lost the match.

The way he feels your eyes on him, you always watched those matches with interest. He sometimes liked to think of you as his own personal human cheerleader, rooting for the elf when your kin is losing? Halsin has never felt a greater urge to take you before in his life.

Maybe one time you decide to have a go at it with Halsin. But instead of him pinning you down, you end up outsmarting him. You're sitting on top of him with your thighs holding him down and wrapping around his torso.

You're so close, that addicting human smell. He swallows down to try and lessen this consuming urge to taste you, lick your body and eat you out.

Minsc is cheering for you from the side, and you're sweating and brimming with happiness at your victory. Smiling at Halsin and asking if he needs help to stand up, maybe you kicked his ass too hard and now he won't be able to shower on his own after this.

Um, yeah! Probably the most affectionate clone in the entire GAR. His love language is definitely physical touch, with maybe a smattering of gift giving and receiving.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

He would be such an amazing best friend. I feel like so many people see him as a little slow and goofy, but getting close to him would show you a whole other side; someone who listens and gives wonderful advice and comfort when appropriate. He is a fixer at heart, can’t stand seeing people in emotional or physical distress.

The friendship would start, in my mind, as any sort of chance encounter. He helps you lift something heavy, maybe he’s chasing Batcher through the market and she upturns your table or knocks into you. Naturally, he has to stop and help, and it goes from there.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Absolutely. You know those videos of the giant baby elephants in rescue sanctuaries? Just completely oblivious to their size and strength but totally down for a cuddle 24/7? Yeah, that’s Wrecker. 

Not only does he love to cuddle, he is the best at it and has the best body type for it (in my humble opinion). Any kind of cuddling, but I think a favorite would be nestled against his side with your head on his big ol’ chest. Maybe a leg gets thrown over his own at some point.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

If we’re talking canon universe Wrecker, yes to settling down. Pabu is incredibly conducive to domestic life. If the two of you chose the tropical planet to settle on, let me set the scene:

Sheer curtains flutter against the rejuvenating ocean breeze blowing through open windows and doors, the adobe stone of your shared abode cool to the touch against the warm sun outside. Some of the door frames have been slightly altered to accommodate your companion’s remarkable height, and seeing the little personalizations around the home always brings an easy smile to your face. 

Walking into the kitchen, you can see his large frame facing away from you, your peripheral vision swarmed with bright colors and shapes of various fruits piled on the countertops. You watch as his head tilts slightly at the noise of your steps, before turning to regard you with a gleaming grin. 

It’s perfect.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He would feel guilty, even if the majority of the issues were on the other party. As mentioned previously, seeing others upset or bothered by anything is almost intolerable to him. 

Likely, he would try to talk to that person multiple times to mend whatever troubles are happening. He would go to his brothers, even Omega, to gather advice on the situation. Eventually, as much as it would break him up inside, he would have one final talk with the person and let his true feelings be known in as gentle and polite a way as possible for him.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

If you make him happy, and he makes you happy, he would absolutely commit. Marriage wouldn’t be something he would necessarily think about, being raised in the military and all. But if someone outside the relationship mentioned or alluded to it, or maybe the two of you attended another’s wedding, he would most definitely bring it up as something he is very interested in.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

He thinks he’s gentle, and wants to be gentle. He’s a big boy though, essentially made for not being gentle, so it takes some practice for him to not actually hurt you when he gets excited about hugs and playful tussling. 

He is good at being gentle emotionally though. Has always been a comforting presence for his brothers, in or out of battle, and would be the same for you. Really just someone you can talk to or just sit quietly with. 

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

YES! Hugs all around. All the time. Big, full-body, two-arms-completely-wrapped-around, feet-lifting-off-the-ground hugs.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Pretty quickly, if you say it first. He will most likely say it right back to you. 

If it’s left up to him though, it may take awhile, but eventually he just can’t hold it in anymore. It’ll come out at the most seemingly random times; he’s watching you pet an animal, peel a piece of fruit, fold a shirt - just something totally mundane and for some unknown reason all his feelings will just bubble up to the surface in that moment. 

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He doesn’t often get jealous, as he believes people’s intentions are generally good. Sometimes, of course, they are not, but Wrecker is confident in himself and his relationship with you. 

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

I really can’t imagine any of the clones are naturally good kissers (with the exception of Fives), so it might be a little…rough, at first. He’s a good listener though, a people pleaser and wants to learn, so if you’re patient with him and show him what you like you’ll be well rewarded and very happy with the results. 

For you, he loves coming up from behind, wrapping his arms around you and shoving his face into your neck, kissing and blowing raspberries and listening to you laugh.

For him, a kiss on the top of the head (if you can reach it) gives him wholesome, domestic butterflies. And of course the lips, which is obviously the best place to smooch on such a handsome fellow.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

All I can think about with this one is him meeting Omega:

But seriously, he loves kids once he figures them out. He would definitely love some of his own, but only if you want them too. If not, there’s plenty of little urchins running around Pabu he can toss up in the air and give piggy-back rides to.

See letter D. Other than that, he likes to sleep in, preferably with you. If you wake up before him, grab some caf and a magazine and get back into bed. Let that man wake up happy, with you by his side.

Since he sleeps late, he can be a bit of a night owl. Cuddling with snacks and a good holovid under a super soft blanket? Sign y’all up.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

You have but to ask. There’s nothing he’s ashamed or scared to tell you, not really, but he probably won’t take it upon himself to spill everything. He’s really more interested in what you’re all about; totally smitten and won’t even think to bring up much about himself.

He’s protective, but not in a stifling or possessive way. To put it simply, you are able to have scary dog privileges. 

There’s really not a whole lot you can do to protect him. Maybe if he’s got a spider on his shoulder or something you could get it for him? He would probably appreciate that.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

As mentioned above, he is a people pleaser at his core. While he’s not a perfectionist, he does try to put effort into showing you how much he appreciates you. He loves giving gifts too; not big, crazy, showy gifts, but little everyday things. Maybe a cool rock he found, snacks, stuff like that.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He’s not too concerned. Even after Tantiss, he still works out and stays in shape, mainly because it’s been a part of his routine for so long. But if we’re being honest, he’s definitely checking his muscles out in the mirror or a window reflection fairly often.

Especially if you guys became ‘official’ and were so for a while. He’s not clingy, but he would miss you like crazy if you had to leave for a time. And maker forbid, if something ever happened to you, he would be utterly broken apart for a long time.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

In the spring season on Pabu, Wrecker sometimes gets allergies for a week or so at a time. He totally hates it, not because of the sneezing or watery eyes, but because he really likes smelling the flowers that make him ill.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

I don’t think he’d like someone who was super clingy or possessive. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy, especially on Pabu. He just wants to finally enjoy life, and wouldn’t want someone bossing him around too much or not letting him explore and discover his own habits and interests. 

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

Drooling, snoring, arms-flung-out-to-the-sides, crazy deep sleeper. He’s also very warm, which can be a good or bad thing depending on you, the weather, etc. 

Sometimes he mumbles cute or funny little things in his sleep though. It always makes you smile.

Let's get into it: Did I like Cassian in ACOSF?

Yes for the following reasons:

-We learned more about his Love Language

-His Compassion for his friends

-Any moment that he was really soft with Nesta (Despite what a lot of the people in the fandom believe those moments are on the page).

HOWEVER MY ANSWER IS ALSO NO.

ACOMAF Cassian would absolutely Obliterate ACOSF Cassian.

Why? Good question I'd love to answer.

Cassian in ACOMAF and ACOWAR always was one to stand up to not only people who insulted Feyre her sisters. But he knew when Rhys needed to get knocked down a peg and be more humble. So him just being subservient to Rhys in ACOSF in front of Nesta (Because despite what people say he does defend her just not in Rhysand way.)

Also SJM played into the fandom fan service of dumbing him down to a brute (its subtle but its there.) LIKE THIS MAN IS A GENERAL HE HAS WON COUNTLESS BATTLES THANK TO HIS STRATEGIES. But instead of having this sweet story of Nesta showing him how to be a courtier; she has Rhys throw him to the wolves (Eris) to make him a babbling idiot WHICH HE"S NOT.

You would have had a better story if Nesta was showing him how to do these things OR A cute Courtier X Bodyguard story line had she let Nesta do what she had trained her whole life to do and Cassian being there to keep her safe.

ACOMAF Cassian is emotionally mature, he's playful and knows how to lighten a mood but he's compassionate when it comes to Feyre and her emotional stability. In the bonus chapter, he's enraged someone hurt Nesta enough to cause her to flinch at his touch wanting to protect her. ACOSF he has the emotional capacity of a 12 year old boy and it sucks.

Cassian's character was watered down in ACOSF with just enough flashes of his old self that it keeps you seated but I wanted better for him and Nesta too tbh. She never wanted to be a warrior and I love that she found friends and got healing but the story could have been told differently and her love story with Cassian should have gone differently and both deserve to have more soft moments with each other.

Also his interactions with Mor were weird and felt kind of forced. I didn't like that.

Cassian seemed to be there for a plot device and she didn't give a shit about his character development and in the process whittled him down to what drew me to him the minute I met him in ACOMAF.

All the while deciding she was going to destroy every fucking character in that series in the process.

You will never make me hate Cassian even though I do agree he is very off in ACOSF he does have some shining moments in there that still makes me metaphorically weak in the knees for him. But I know just by how he was handling Nesta alone like a sex crazed boy. ACOMAF Cassian would have decimated ACOSF Cassian.

Some more attribute scales- this time the more interesting ones (imo). For a key to know who's who, see the original post. Otherwise, peek under the read more for some more context on these ones. I didn't talk about every single character, just some things I thought were noteworthy.

Puts Others or Self First? Nine is just canon Nine in this sense. You know how it goes. cT Tails has always been alone, so he can’t afford to put others ahead of himself. He has a big heart and often desires to, though. If he actually got close friends, a mate, community, ect, I’m sure he’d steadily start sliding towards the right. sP Kit is SUPER tricky because he’s essentially cut himself off from others and is intently trying to put himself first. But his literal gosh dang coding is to serve others (specifically Surge, but the fawning nature bleeds into others easily). So he can VERY easily swing all the way over to the right, to the point of his own detriment, if he’s not extremely diligent. Sails spent his entire life in closeknit communities, brought up in a culture that deeply ingrains the importance of cooperation into you. He’s actually considered kind of self-serving in his society due to his somewhat lazy, carefree nature. But that still lands him pretty easily to the right in Mobian society. He looks out for others. And if you’re a loved one? He’ll lay down his life for you, no question. K-Tails is like canon Tails, so of course he’s putting others first all the time. Mangey wants everyone to get along and be happy; he’ll do whatever it takes! Folklore Tails is like canon Tails but… Extreme. He’ll work himself to damn near death to help others. Way to his detriment. It’s not healthy.

Confidence Mangey and Sails tend to be overconfident… Especially Mangey. cT Kit struggles with confidence a bit because of shitty people in his life that put him down. *coughStarlinecough* >_> cT Tails is just a bit of a bashful guy in general. He knows he’s pretty capable overall, but will crumble if actually given a compliment. Aw, shucks! Folklore Tails is an extreme version of this. And Nine, oh boy. He hides his shyness under a well-maintained mask of haughtiness and rudeness. He is very easily embarrassed in social situations since he has zero experience with them. Take Nine from the show and tack another 10+ years of isolation onto him. He’s not doing well.

Humbleness But weirdly, Nine can be very cocky when it comes to certain things, like his prowess with machinery and whatnot. The shyness is more about personal and emotional stuff. Kelpie is normally incredibly cocky just because he’s so strong and has never had any problem easily overpowering and dominating his prey. Mangey generally has a bit of an ego just because he’s so self-sufficient and proud of his accomplishments and skills. Folklore Tails is so dang unconfident despite how incredibly skilled he is! 8( But even if he was more confident, I don’t see him ever growing an ego. He just wants to help; he doesn’t need praise or fame.

Openness Nine and sP Kit will bend over backwards not to share personal info because, who knows, you might find a way to use it against them! They’re not paranoid at all!! Sails is deceptively secretive- his mannerisms generally give the impression that he’s very open and has nothing to hide. But he’s a good liar (even to himself, but that’s… another thing altogether >_>). Kelpie ain’t got shit to hide; he don't care. Mangey and cT Tails are so open that they’re um, likely to overshare. o_O

Affection Affection in a general sense (not specifically romantic), more in terms of physicality. As in: Mangey will snuggle anyone anytime anywhere. He's always giving little shoulder touches, tail brushes, kisses, nuzzles... He has no filter for affectionate touch. And it's usually all platonic, which has led to confusion in others- especially with the kisses. xD Sails is also a really touchy-feely dude, but is very picky with who receives this affection. Just family and close friends, really. Or people he's flirting with. K-Tails is about average- he’s chill with hugs, but is more keen on fist bumps and high fives. Tbh, I’m kind of unsure with Kelpie Kit- he might be farther to the left? Nine is INTENSELY AWKWARD with receiving affection because that is just completely alien to him. Touching? In a nice way? That isn’t being punched in the face? Wtf even is that??? Folklore Tails has a warm heart, but he’s just not one to initiate touch like, ever. He’s a bit awkward to receive it as well, just because he generally likes his personal space. It doesn’t bother him per se, it’s just… Not his thing. Idk.

Not Romantic vs MUSHY To be clear, this has no bearing on their aro/ace status (that's a different scale). More in the uhhh, traditional sense? Nonphysical affection, sorta??? Anyway! Sails. He’ll tell you every day how beautiful and wonderful you are, bring you breakfast in bed, give you a massage, write and perform love songs for you, listen to and confide in you… Dude is mashed potatoes mushy. More than anything, he craves emotional intimacy with his partner and that just kinda adds to it. It’s so funny that his Kit is on the opposite side. Sdfjlsd It’s okay; they’ll make it work. Oh and Nine? He doesn’t know HOW, but like… He would TRY to be romantic for his partner… And would probably kind of suck at it, but in a really endearing fashion. Except no he wouldn’t, who told you that, shut the *(@# up, he’ll kill you.

Prefers to be Alone or with Others? This is sort of a combination of intro/extrovert and social/asocial. Folklore Tails can straight up be a hermit for the rest of his life and be completely content. However, he stays near society because he loves to help people. He’s incredibly introverted and can be drained by others easily, but he in no way dislikes others because of this. Kelpie likes to be alone primarily, but is content with being in the silent company of very close, trusted individuals. Nine prefers to be alone out of necessity. Since it’s all he’s ever known, social situations give him anxiety. But at the same time he’s very lonely and craves emotional connection… He’d be very happy to have 1-2 close friends and/or a partner, but doesn’t like crowds/parties. Kit is in a very similar boat to Nine, except he doesn’t know what he really wants. Sails spent his entire life in close quarters with others, with basically zero privacy. He’s used to it, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t absolutely love having moments truly to himself. He likes a balance. cT Tails is just incredibly lonely and would prefer to have friends or just be in good company most of the time. K-Tails loves to be around others, but he’s usually just so dang busy… Mangey absolutely languishes without social interaction for too long.

Warframe Quest tier list

Explanations of ratings under the cut:

Great: Quests that hooked me conceptually and are the core of how I view the game/my own characters and worldbuilding

Sacrifice - This quest is worth the hype. That's it. Even though I have gripes with Umbra from a fandom perspective, I love the lore of the Warframes a lot.

Glast Gambit - personal sentimental favorite, this is purely my own bias. I think it's a really good early example of a fun character interaction (Nef and Ergo, toxic old man yaoi LONG before WITW; they are divorced, the worm in my brain told me so) and also an interesting way to show the "choice" system via a moral dilemma (Neewa's fate).

Whispers in the Wall also goes into the "Great" tier, great quest, great characters, great setup for the next era of Warframe and imo a culmination of all the ups and downs that Warframe has been through the years and that ended up in a truly great narrative experience.

Good: Quests I liked but that missed a certain "oomph"

Duviri Paradox - I love Duviri as a place and the mythology around it, but I expected something different from the quest itself. Certain story beats didn't land because I did not feel the emotional connection the game expected me to (coughcoughTeshin'sfakeoutdeathcoughcough). Also didn't like Drifter being a snarky ass in a Marvel-esque way. I'm too used to RPGs and MMOs so when a game forces a characterization on my character I get really antsy if it's something she would not say.

Deadlock Protocol - I LOVE the Corpus so any Corpus content gets instant bias bonus points. Introduction of a very solid villain, Nef bullying. It has it all. This quest could also go in "great" but I think the narrative itself isn't compelling and earth-shattering enough to warrant that.

Waverider - hot take alert! Corpus bias once again, Nef being humbled is always a plus. The k-drive was annoying but I got gud and finished the quest, it was entertaining.

Vox Solaris - good introduction to the Solaris faction but I feel the conflict was solved way too quickly, but I also wasn't around for the release, the ARG and the introduction of the Orb Mothers. Still, I think Nef and the Solaris' conflict could be made into a cinematic three-parter on its own. Oh well, that's what fanfiction is for. (Ps. Nightwave Season 3 had a forgettable side character, Cutter, who touched upon a subject I wish the Solaris plotline explored more)

Call of the Tempestarii - I almost want to put it in "wasted potential" only because I wish Vala had more of a prominent role. Sighs. I love Corpus, I love evil women, I got an evil Corpus woman. Please give me more evil Corpus women.

Chains of Harrow - overall good quest. Rell's story is heart-wrenching. I still headcanon that "Margulis cast him out" is Red Veil propaganda and Rell got separated from the rest of the Tenno in other ways and was brainwashed to believe he was cast out completely.

Second Dream - I knew the Operator existed before I played this quest so I didn't have the HOLY SHIT WHAT!!! reaction, but I think this is a good quest and I understand why people guard the Operator secret even though I think it hurts the narrative of Warframe overall. Oh Well.

New War - To me it's like a Marvel movie, a huge spectacle. It was fun in the way a popcorn movie is fun. It was more fun gameplay wise than story-wise, though I enjoyed the Void/Wally/Zariman lore the most (it's my second favorite thing after Corpus stuff).

Okay - these are quests which either didn't particularly speak to me, or I just have completely forgotten. All the early quests fall into "forgotten" category and things post War Within are more on the "okay" side.

Wasted potential - Silver Grove. My joy, my pain. I WISH this wasn't an ancient quest and the post-quest moral actually applied to New Loka. I think as a concept New Loka are very interesting, but poorly executed, so now they're just "lol ecofascists/plant nazis" so I can't even get people to engage with them on a serious level. Forever seething and malding

Disappointment of the century - Angels of the Zariman. I was there, I participated in the ARG to the best of my ability, I read the logs, I changed my blog title to "Abyssus accipit et Abyssus dat" because I liked it that much. Then I got a 30 minute tutorial quest with a bunch of NPCs I don't care about and my Operator had zero emotional reaction TO RETURNING TO THE PLACE WHERE IT ALL FUCKING BEGAN AND THEY KILLED THEIR PARENTS AND LOST EVERYTHING THEY EVER HELD DEAR JESUS FUCK WHY WHY WHY

Autistic Headcanon: Delacy (Oxventure)

Introduction

Delacy is the character played by Luke Westaway in the Oxventure team's playthrough of the TTRPG Deadlands. He is a twelve/thirteen-year-old boy who, like the rest of the party, follows an advertisement promising a reward for dispatching a group of criminals who wronged their client, Victoria. Prone to violence and incredibly skilled with a gun, Delacy is an incredibly skilled member of the team. But, of course, he’s still young, so he tends to act very impulsively. And he’s my favourite character!

It is almost certainly unintentional, but Delacy comes across as a very autistic-coded character. And I am very enthusiastic about this headcanon, so I decided to write this meta piece explaining why I think he is autistic.

A couple of moments from canon that stood out to me:

When Nate mentions a job paying him peanuts, Delacy takes his words literally and assumes that some jobs do pay with literal peanuts. (Episode 1: Running Them Down)

Billie uses a metaphor in front of Delacy - "an eye for an eye" and then realizes that Delacy might take that literally and scrabbles to tell the kid not to actually shoot the man in the eye. Even a character who barely knows him understands that Delacy is very literal-minded. (Episode 9: More Wonders Than There Are in the Heavens, Part 2)

My headcanons about his autism:

Favourite Ways to Stim: Cleaning and assembling/disassembling Rooster. Doing gun tricks/spinning his revolver. Smelling the cloth that he uses to clean his revolver. Petting and braiding Humble Ned’s mane. When overwhelmed, he sooths himself by rocking back and forth or bouncing his leg. When having a meltdown, Delacy is prone to pulling his hair.

Hyper- or hyposensitive? His vision is hypersensitive and light hurts his eyes, so he wears a hat with a huge brim to keep the sun out of his eyes. His sense of touch is hypersensitive and he hates being touched without permission. His hearing is hyposensitive so loud noises don’t bother him; he finds the loud bang of gunfire soothing.

Meltdowns or shutdowns? Both. When he gets very overwhelmed or his emotions are too much for him, he has a shutdown, curling up and refusing to interact with people. But if someone continues to overwhelm him when he shuts down, he will have a meltdown instead, shouting and crying and probably becoming violent toward whatever upset him.

Special Interest(s): ‘Bison Bill’ Billie Joe Thicket’s Wild West Show, and revolvers. Specifically, Rooster, which is a custom gun that he cares for deeply and always keeps with him.

Social Issues: He really struggles to make eye contact, his eyes darting around when looking at people; the massive brim of his hat helps him hide his eyes from people. He is also very literal minded, struggling with metaphors and figures of speech, to the point that people he knows try to speak literally around him to prevent misunderstandings.

Communication: Delacy is verbal almost all the time. When he gets overwhelmed, he tends to go semi-verbal, stammering and struggling to get his words out.

Why Kawi is so Ace-coded (and anxious)[Cinematography wise]

I decided in order to keep discussing and analyzing Be My Favorite EP10 with @pinkkop and @rocketturtle4 posts on board, I want to point out more details and signs. Disclaimer: I may not know the depth of sexually-undesiring allo people but I know my visual storytelling tools when I see some.

It seems like there are two camps of viewers who view Kawi as ace vs who view Kawi as just hesitant to changes/intimacy. As a proud and hopeful member of the first camp, I want to show why do I think Kawi always felt somewhat ace-apec, but especially it kicked the ace people right in the heart in Episode 10. We talked about all the too intentional lines (ace-core from Kawi and ace-phobic from Max & Pisaeng) so I'm not pausing for them much.

So, Kawi has gone 30 years without relationship or sleeping with someone, or even trying. As @pinkkop said, how come he realizes he's queer only now? We have Max and Pisaeng who know they're gay for years, and a lot of queer people find their heart doesn't align with society norms in youth. But ace people often don't realize they are queer until 20+ or even 30+.

Kawi has lived with his romantic crush on Pear for years and a couple of time travels. As we know, he doesn't know how to navigate the relationship once he gets it, once he starts dating her, he can't give her marriage and a kid (partially because he was not ready and it wasn't what he needed/wanted, he wanted only the idea of dating Pear and stop being a loser). Not once he commented or agreed with Not & friends talking about Pear being hottest girl in uni (tho mostly it was Pisaeng dealing with it) – Kawi liked her for being kind and caring.

But then, he fell in love with Pisaeng. He started dating Pisaeng. Is he ready to go further? No, and there could be plenty of reasons, ranging from anxiety, self-doubts and trauma to lack of desire. He drank just to be able to kiss him, ffs. I am sure Kawi has a lot of psychological things holding him back from trying, it's been established, but that's not all of it in my opinion.

I'll put the rest under the cut because I feel like this post will be too long with all the screenshots, feel free to read the rest of it and let me know your thoughts~

Whenever in BL main characters end up on one bed, it's almost inevitable trope of 'will they won't they'. BMF teased us the other day with the drunk brave kiss from Kawi:

And that's how you show someone's desire to kiss: Kawi was staring at Pisaeng for minutes (notably, Pisaeng didn't have any thoughts until Kawi demanded attention and meaningfully stared some more). Everything slows down, you get some slow music, you cut down to faces/details to express emotions and let the viewer absorb the atmosphere (romantic or sexual or even inner dramatic turmoil – all the important bits use tools like this).

That's how I know Kawi wants to kiss. Kawi will want to keep kissing Pisaeng even when sober, once he gets past his block. Yeah, ace people can be comfortable with kissing too.

But do we ever get an impression Kawi wants to have sex with Pisaeng? Are we ever shown this? Not in my humble opinion.

Kawi doesn't touch Pisaeng much when kissing him. In fact, I think that scene is the only instance. We have talked about how intentional not-touching is seen with Pisaeng and Kawi relationship development, sorry I won't find those comments now. Then Kawi conveniently gets what he wanted (da kiss) and falls back asleep:D While Pisaeng is having his slow-close-up romantic moment by himself:

Now, fast forward to the future (but not the Future future) - Kawi is sober, lies in bed with Pisaeng (way less sober last night), already happy in a brand new relationship... and the only thoughts he's having is how Pisaeng is good looking and they are dating now.

I think I can safely bet how in all the other BLs there is usually a moment to close up on the romantic interest's face, or lips, longing stare showing the MC's desire to be intimate with your love. It's in 99% of the shows. Kawi has none of it. He just has a funky cute dialogue in his head that says 'I just want to keep staring at him' (and nothing else huh?)

The next trope BLs just love to use is someone undressing in front of their crush/partner. Let me just pull the scene from The Eclipse out (I wish I could compare it to P'Waa other works but BMF is his first BL, yet he definitely knows how to use visual tools)

Here at 2:25 we have Akk, a guy, inexperienced with dating and relationships too AND having insane amount of trauma, anxiety, self-doubts and holding back. So much that he has to break down crying several times to allow himself seek his own love and happiness. And yet in the beginning of his journey he still CLEARLY shows his interest in Ayan, even when they are enemies/rivals. It comes with:

staring at Ayan, looking him up and down, swallowing, turning his head away (indication of being flustered and having dirty thoughts)

close-ups on Ayan undressing

sexy music as bgm

And then we get his feelings and desire confirmed with very hot bed kiss that Akk, turns out, literally fantasized. (i actually was headcanonning akk as ace-spec but i accepted that wasn't the case as the show went on and we got shown more so yeah i can change my mind but kawi is heavily aced in 10 episodes and it's not stopping so far)

Compare the similar scene and trope with Kawi and Pisaeng undressing. Kawi is confused, mildly annoyed?, not a single swallow or eyes running away until he takes a hint (accompanied by the familiar sound that BMF uses for 'oh shit' realization). Funky comedic music on the background (and we know BMF does have osts for the romantic mood). Most importantly, there is never close-up/detail shot on Pisaeng.

Detail shots are 100% the go-to when you want to show desire, as I already said. Put a close up on the detail on someone else's body and add person's face reaction. Boom, you've got it.

Like, see the difference? Do you see it? That's Akk's POV.

And that's Kawi's POV:

Mind you, these are ALREADY BRAND NEW BOYFRIENDS. All poor Pisaeng gets is half- and full-body shots (adding to the comedy/simply telling what's happening), no slowing down the narration - and all the detailed looks on his body are simply out of focus, on the edge of the frame. I am fascinated by this cinematography.

We literally can see the book Kawi reads clearer than Pisaeng having his sexy striptease alone. Kawi is more interested in reading Sherlock Holmes than ogling Pisaeng and fantasizing about being close to him (even with all the inner turmoil he could be having – he is having it later, once he catches up on Pisaeng's blunt hit of inviting him to the shower and condoms in his backpack). it's also funny how kawi has the time to nag pisaeng about towel but since it's improv from krist to gawin who kept forgetting it, i'm not taking it seriously

Even then, his thoughts are confidently said out loud 'can we not have any sexual activities at all?', avoiding staying alone with Pisaeng in his room, 'i don't want to ride, i'm just here to take the vibes' (and while Pisaeng is upset and sad from the failed metaphor, Kawi genuinely thinks their date was great, this was enough for him, Kawi is brutally honest with Pisaeng, he wouldn't say this if he really didn't think so).

I can't remember any instances where sexy close-up shots were used in Kawi's POV. Only with kissing. Adding all the dialogue lines from Kawi and answers from others that are painfully precisely familiar for majority of ace people, adding how Kawi never has thought dirty thoughts until he clicked on people suggesting them (and not enjoying it)... I am dying on this hill and begging BMF not to fuck this up. Please don't give me ace erasure when ace-spec!Kawi has been hinted so heavily through several storytelling tools. They can meet in the middle, I just want BMF to be caring to Kawi and his feelings and not force him to cater to Pisaeng's needs because that's 'what happy boyfriends do and turns out, he did need to try it first to learn that he craves it!'

P.S. I do know Pisaeng and Kawi talked before the last scene and we'll 99.9% see it later, I'm also 90% sure Pisaeng time travelled in Ep.10, and I would be pleasantly surprised if we end up with Kawi and Pisaeng not going too far when they explore being intimate for the first time.

Oh, about the last scene. I had many mixed feelings (and was surprised to see people commenting how awww romantic and touching it was), because Krist shows a lot of internal struggle for Kawi (and no, not because he doesn't wanna kiss Gawin, fight me).

It's the blinking eyes, heavy breathing as soon as Kawi sheds his shirt, the swallowing, neck muscle twitching, furrowed determined eyebrows) and several little nods when he responds to 'Are you sure'?

It's very intentional acting. It's fucking brilliant acting in showing Kawi's anxiety and gosh, Kawi is being so brave to take this challenge and change his whole life once again, I might cry. If he turns out to be ace, I might actually cry but like I pointed out before, for me Kawi's lack of sexual desire is very readable. But no matter what, I have my trust in BMF to tread Pisaeng and Kawi intimacy carefully, it's been great so far and P'Waa knows what he's doing and how he is filming. I just hope it aligns with my wishful thinking.
